[1:32] Speaker 1: but how can it be stressed? Where this is the
[1:34] Speaker 1: fault mode? You know?
[1:34] Speaker 3: We got the premiere of South Park last week, which
[1:36] Speaker 3: we're going to be doing a review of the premier
[1:39] Speaker 3: episode of South Buck from season twenty seven, the Donald
[1:41] Speaker 3: Trump episode on our Going Down a South pub podcast,
[1:43] Speaker 3: So check that out if you haven't already subscribed to
[1:45] Speaker 3: YouTube channel, it'll be available in a few days. But
[1:48] Speaker 3: that came out last week. It was an absolute massive
[1:50] Speaker 3: f you to the president.
[1:53] Speaker 1: President.
[1:53] Speaker 3: That was pretty fantastic. Not that I want to get
[1:55] Speaker 3: political anything. I thought it was just the way they
[1:56] Speaker 3: did It was an hilarious takedown.
[1:58] Speaker 1: Dan, Do you don't want to get sued?
[1:59] Speaker 3: No? And we got the release of Happy gil More too,
[2:02] Speaker 3: which we're going to be doing a review as well,
[2:04] Speaker 3: exclusively on our YouTube channel, on our Patreon as well.
[2:06] Speaker 3: So look out for that, which I thought was just
[2:09] Speaker 3: a lot of fun. It's all it needed to be.
[2:11] Speaker 3: It's pretty much the best way to wrap it up.
[2:13] Speaker 1: Happy gil More too understood the assignment and delivered.
[2:16] Speaker 3: It did indeed, So yeah, look out for a happy
[2:18] Speaker 3: girl more to review. But yeah, we're be answering your
[2:20] Speaker 3: questions and running through some Simpsons news in just a
[2:23] Speaker 3: few moments. But yeah, hey you doing. You said you're
[2:24] Speaker 3: feeling a bit sad. It's twenty twenty five, but what
[2:26] Speaker 3: have you been.
[2:26] Speaker 1: Up to now? Was your weekend? My weekend was fine,
[2:29] Speaker 1: thank you very much. I spent it with Lovely Louise.
[2:32] Speaker 1: We watch it.
[2:33] Speaker 3: Can I say one thing, Louise, it's your birthday.
[2:36] Speaker 1: Happy birthday, Louis, Happy birthday, the Lovely Louise. Yes. Indeed,
[2:40] Speaker 1: it's the happiest day of the year because of the
[2:43] Speaker 1: day that she came into the world. Do you wish
[2:45] Speaker 1: her love and good will?
[2:47] Speaker 3: Wish her present Joey?
[2:48] Speaker 1: Yes? And the first kiss from this boy? Yes, just
[2:51] Speaker 1: the kiss from this way. We don't know. Sure? A kiss?
[2:53] Speaker 1: What a song?
[2:54] Speaker 3: It's a shame. It's not a vaible on Disney Plus.
[2:55] Speaker 3: But physical media, everybody start craving Dad is still out there.
[2:58] Speaker 1: Indeed, indeed, and we're going to be talking about favorite
[3:00] Speaker 1: Simpson songs as we delve deep into the mailbad that's
[3:03] Speaker 1: one of the mailbag questions. A little teas But yeah,
[3:05] Speaker 1: but no, I'm doing pretty good. We just had a
[3:07] Speaker 1: nice weekend in watch the cats absolutely decimate the ruse.
[3:12] Speaker 1: It was a decimation. It was an absolute pantsing.
[3:15] Speaker 3: Australian rules football. By the way, you doing to start
[3:19] Speaker 3: off with the question, start us with the question, shall
[3:20] Speaker 3: we Oh.
[3:20] Speaker 1: You don't want to hear about the rest of my weekend?
[3:22] Speaker 1: It was fine. We went out for lunch. Would you
[3:23] Speaker 1: have for lunch? The chicken wings? Not chicken wings, but
[3:27] Speaker 1: there was some delightful chicken with cels of their day.
[3:29] Speaker 1: There was some nice veal Ossobuco. This was a Geelong
[3:34] Speaker 1: place called the wood shed. The woodshed. No, maybe a
[3:37] Speaker 1: woodshed sounds like a place always good. No, No, that's
[3:39] Speaker 1: where it gets sent when you're being punished. Because j
[3:43] Speaker 1: the commentator used to say, take them to the woodshed.
[3:47] Speaker 1: That's where you catch a bit of a whip on
[3:49] Speaker 1: the spanking as whoop. It did not go to the woodshed,
[3:52] Speaker 1: went to the Woolshed instead, very nice place, highly recommend it.
[3:55] Speaker 3: Okay, all right, well let's get into our first question,
[3:58] Speaker 3: shall we. It's been SDCC this week, and the Simpsons
[4:02] Speaker 3: creators and riders have been at the Panels and the
[4:04] Speaker 3: Suspen Shenanigan's galore.
[4:06] Speaker 1: You're just throwing around acronyms left and right. It's d CC,
[4:10] Speaker 1: man stands for what does it stand for? Santo San
[4:14] Speaker 1: Diego Comic Con? It does?
[4:15] Speaker 3: Indeed, Yeah, I saw a clip for mac Granny at
[4:17] Speaker 3: I believe it was SDCC or some comic cond of
[4:20] Speaker 3: some kind of thing was SDCC from nineteen ninety and
[4:22] Speaker 3: it's just hims as somewhat fold out table.
[4:25] Speaker 1: Sure, it's like Marly anyone there was a post when
[4:28] Speaker 1: when do you think it really turned?
[4:30] Speaker 3: Was that Marvels andatic INDIVI MCU yeah, Big Bang Theory,
[4:33] Speaker 3: that kind of thing. Yeah, I think it was MCU.
[4:36] Speaker 3: Big Bank Theory capitalized on that, and it's just it
[4:38] Speaker 3: became okay to be a geek.
[4:40] Speaker 1: Okay, So from mid two thousands onwards two thousand and.
[4:44] Speaker 3: Eight, expense started the trend, I think, yeah.
[4:47] Speaker 1: And Spider Man and all that. But yeah, you've got
[4:49] Speaker 1: two thousand and eight you've got Dark Knight nine man.
[4:51] Speaker 1: So yeah, that's I'd say that's when The Tide was
[4:54] Speaker 1: a tournament because.
[4:54] Speaker 3: When Phantom Menace came out, you were still a lusier
[4:56] Speaker 3: if you were excited for it. You know, it's like
[4:58] Speaker 3: Star Wars, like Star War and then by the time
[5:01] Speaker 3: the third one came out, everyone's like, oh, it's not.
[5:03] Speaker 1: That sounds pretty good. Yes, Musta was not Musda was.
[5:09] Speaker 3: But this first question, this got sent through to mailbag
[5:12] Speaker 3: at four finger discount dot com dot au and the
[5:15] Speaker 3: question is this one's from Travis Henderson to celebrate we're
[5:20] Speaker 3: touching on Happy gil More two before to celebrate the
[5:22] Speaker 3: release of Happy gil Moore to which three Simpsons characters
[5:25] Speaker 3: would you love to play a round of golf with? Okay,
[5:28] Speaker 3: there's two parts of this question.
[5:29] Speaker 1: We'll get to.
[5:30] Speaker 3: That's the first part, which three characters would be fun
[5:32] Speaker 3: to play a game of golf with? So it's gonna
[5:34] Speaker 3: be people that are fun to be with but aren't
[5:36] Speaker 3: going to beat you, right. I feel like Lenny would
[5:39] Speaker 3: be one that you'd want to be there because he's
[5:40] Speaker 3: just Lenny would be supportive.
[5:42] Speaker 1: If you did a bad shit, he'd goes don't worry
[5:43] Speaker 1: about it. But do you want to say your others?
[5:47] Speaker 1: Or shall I go?
[5:48] Speaker 3: Oh? I hadn't thought about So I'm gonna go Lenny,
[5:50] Speaker 3: I think because yeah, as I said, I don't want
[5:53] Speaker 3: to be defeated. I'm not a duff Man. He'd bring
[5:55] Speaker 3: he'd bring the drinks, okadaf Man, Lenny, I'm going all
[5:58] Speaker 3: the bar fly.
[6:01] Speaker 1: A very happy Gilmour approach to golfing. Yeah, I gotta say, yeah,
[6:05] Speaker 1: you're making it a fun round.
[6:06] Speaker 3: Yeah. And finally I think of a third one where
[6:09] Speaker 3: you tell me you've clearly got notes.
[6:10] Speaker 1: Yeah. When I say notes, I have three names written. Yeah.
[6:14] Speaker 1: I'll try to expand on that, but I guess I
[6:16] Speaker 1: was thinking more of like an old school country club
[6:19] Speaker 1: golf kind of round Kent Brockman style. Well, yeah, maybe
[6:23] Speaker 1: i'll cross one of these. Actually, yeah, I'm going to
[6:25] Speaker 1: cross out one of these names. Sorry, doctor Hibbitt, because
[6:28] Speaker 1: doctors and golf seem to go together like peaches and cream.
[6:31] Speaker 1: Like he coaching the.
[6:31] Speaker 3: Team, he's been in several episodes where he was playing golf. Yeah,
[6:34] Speaker 3: so that's probably why I was thinking that. Do you
[6:37] Speaker 3: do you know what I what I was saying when
[6:39] Speaker 3: I said, go together like peaches and cream.
[6:40] Speaker 1: Like a coach and a team. I don't have you
[6:42] Speaker 1: ever heard of a television show called perfect match?
[6:45] Speaker 3: I have, yeah, in the Dating show.
[6:47] Speaker 1: Yeah, the Dating show. Yeah, they had the theme song
[6:49] Speaker 1: was like like teachers and cream, like a golf and
[6:52] Speaker 1: so and so it's a perfect match. We were all
[6:54] Speaker 1: singing it back and there. I wasn't conceived yet, that's
[6:59] Speaker 1: what doctor Hibbitt. Sorry, you've been scratched from this one. Instead,
[7:04] Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with ken Brock, but I think he'd
[7:05] Speaker 1: be fun to sort of do the rams with.
[7:08] Speaker 3: You mock the other golfers who are bad too, and
[7:10] Speaker 3: you have and you.
[7:10] Speaker 1: Do it in newsreader voice. It's just there. There's just there.
[7:13] Speaker 1: This guys suck. I mean it has to touch the ear.
[7:15] Speaker 1: Of course. Now we mentioned the pres and dj T
[7:21] Speaker 1: a little earlier. Who well, yeah, over in Scotland playing
[7:25] Speaker 1: golf and.
[7:25] Speaker 3: I've got to make a meme, say Simpsons predicted it
[7:27] Speaker 3: with Smithers and.
[7:28] Speaker 1: Just vagrantly yes, disregarding the rules of the links. Yeah.
[7:37] Speaker 1: So with that in mind, I think I'd like to
[7:39] Speaker 1: have a round with mister Burns. I think, certainly I
[7:41] Speaker 1: just beat the pants off that dad. But it'll be
[7:44] Speaker 1: interesting to see what kind of shenanigans he would get
[7:47] Speaker 1: up to on the course.
[7:48] Speaker 3: Would you beat the pants off of him knowing?
[7:52] Speaker 1: No, no, no, I'm playing the long game here. And
[7:54] Speaker 1: I don't just mean golf. I mean like financially and
[7:56] Speaker 1: psychologically and all that. It's like I might let this
[7:59] Speaker 1: guy win. Yeah, I'm a suck up from way back. Yeah,
[8:02] Speaker 1: so it's like, good shot, sir.
[8:04] Speaker 3: I feel you're gonna say there's more to it. But
[8:05] Speaker 3: when I say take the pants off him financial games, that's.
[8:10] Speaker 1: The nineteenth hole. And when I say whole, I mean
[8:13] Speaker 1: nineteenth hole. And I know I think Rainy A. Wolf
[8:16] Speaker 1: Castle would be fun to play golf with the feeling
[8:19] Speaker 1: he would be, you know, showing off those guns. But
[8:21] Speaker 1: I don't think he necessarily had the skill. I'd love
[8:23] Speaker 1: to see him throw a tantrum. Yeah, I think you'd
[8:25] Speaker 1: have a power drive, but it'd be his hit to
[8:27] Speaker 1: miss ratio would be like one in four or something like,
[8:32] Speaker 1: and other times he'd be like shank or just miss.
[8:35] Speaker 3: I'm going to pick a scrapper like Willy, who's someone
[8:37] Speaker 3: who can intimidate people who are slow in front of
[8:38] Speaker 3: us and say.
[8:39] Speaker 1: Get out of the way and stand back. Let's let's
[8:41] Speaker 1: go go through. Willy does seem like the Scottish are
[8:44] Speaker 1: very big on golf. Apparently some of the best courses
[8:46] Speaker 1: in the world can be found in Scotland. Okay, like
[8:49] Speaker 1: Glenn Eel's and s Andrew's fantastic places. I've got to
[8:52] Speaker 1: see them. When I was a little fellow and my
[8:53] Speaker 1: folks were big on golf. But I think golf was
[8:56] Speaker 1: also kind of a scrapper's game in a lot of ways.
[8:58] Speaker 1: I mean, you've got yeah, and he said you're happy
[9:01] Speaker 1: Gilmore types he shooters and you got his happies. That's correct.
[9:04] Speaker 1: So yeah, I think Willie would be actually quite appropriate.
[9:06] Speaker 1: He would be someone who's just an old school he's
[9:10] Speaker 1: probably rough rider golfer.
[9:12] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it doesn't take any crap. But yeah, thank
[9:15] Speaker 3: you Travis for that question. Also two parts, so he's
[9:18] Speaker 3: The other part for his question was also why hasn't
[9:21] Speaker 3: Adam Sandler ever appeared on The Simpsons? He seems like
[9:24] Speaker 3: the perfect voice with his Sandler voices, like are you you?
[9:28] Speaker 1: What would I roll?
[9:29] Speaker 3: How could you get Adam Sounder onto the Simpsons if
[9:31] Speaker 3: he was on the Simpsons. What role would he play.
[9:33] Speaker 3: I'm thinking he plays we Always Got the new Kid.
[9:36] Speaker 3: I'm thinking he plays a kid who comes into school,
[9:38] Speaker 3: maybe he gets skipped up or gets kept down, maybe
[9:41] Speaker 3: a kid playing gets kept down from fourth grade or whatever.
[9:45] Speaker 3: And he's funny at them, but he becomes the class
[9:48] Speaker 3: clown and Bart gets annoyed that he's stealing his thunder
[9:51] Speaker 3: not bad.
[9:51] Speaker 1: I kind of liked the idea of him as like
[9:54] Speaker 1: a relative of one of the.
[9:55] Speaker 3: Bullies, okay, or saying, and what happens there, well, you
[10:00] Speaker 3: put him on the spot. I can't see Samla being
[10:01] Speaker 3: a bully.
[10:03] Speaker 1: No, maybe he's like he was a bully, but now
[10:05] Speaker 1: he's reformed, and maybe he's been away a juvie or something,
[10:10] Speaker 1: or even been away at prison or whatever. And he
[10:11] Speaker 1: comes back and he's kind of like doing a bit
[10:13] Speaker 1: of a scared straight on the bullies, like believe me,
[10:16] Speaker 1: you don't want to be behind bus sad voice, yes indeed,
[10:22] Speaker 1: and tries to teach the bullies to tries to steer
[10:24] Speaker 1: them on the right track. But at the same time,
[10:25] Speaker 1: maybe he's got that inner bully still within him that
[10:27] Speaker 1: wants to come to the service. Maybe Bart's will to
[10:30] Speaker 1: see it, wants to make fun of him the whole time,
[10:33] Speaker 1: and by the end the rage Sandler comes out.
[10:37] Speaker 3: I'm thinking of a fun fourth wall breaking gag. Would
[10:40] Speaker 3: be one of the characters mentioned him mayet list It
[10:42] Speaker 3: says Timothy Chalamagne or whatever. Do you know who he is?
[10:44] Speaker 3: And look at the screen. It's like, don't they say it?
[10:47] Speaker 3: Everyone just knows everyone. I think he would be a
[10:52] Speaker 3: fun guest star. I think, Adam sam, why wouldn't you
[10:54] Speaker 3: want to have Sandler in the.
[10:54] Speaker 1: Studio with you? Exactly right?
[10:56] Speaker 3: Yeah, gets Sandler on the Simpsons. Maybe he can even
[10:58] Speaker 3: do a golf parody of some kind. Can you have
[11:01] Speaker 3: a treos of horror themed around golf killing? I know
[11:05] Speaker 3: we'll work it out, but yeah, Adam sound on the
[11:07] Speaker 3: Simpsons would be fun indeed. But I did send you
[11:10] Speaker 3: some news articles, so sure did.
[11:11] Speaker 1: Yes. So what's been happening with SDCC they've been I
[11:15] Speaker 1: noticed their panel was very political. Yes, they are anti Trump.
[11:21] Speaker 3: They are to the point where Matt Granning said the
[11:23] Speaker 3: Simpsons will end when Trump dies or something.
[11:25] Speaker 1: I didn't quite get that joke, more like dancing in
[11:27] Speaker 1: the streets thinking or.
[11:29] Speaker 3: Well because because Matt Groening said, honestly thought thirty six
[11:32] Speaker 3: was where we're going to end it, but no, there's
[11:33] Speaker 3: no end in sight. We're going to keep going. We're
[11:36] Speaker 3: going to keep going until somebody dies, when you know
[11:38] Speaker 3: who dies, and it's like, oh, that's not a very
[11:41] Speaker 3: nice to day positive, I mean, as negative as people
[11:44] Speaker 3: might think about Donald Trump. Don't make jokes about that.
[11:49] Speaker 1: You do that, you're going to break up Tenacious D. Yeah. Yeah,
[11:54] Speaker 1: they never got back together. Did that that was terrible? No? No,
[11:56] Speaker 1: well not yet at least. I mean there's still time.
[11:58] Speaker 3: But they also discussed how recently there was and this
[12:02] Speaker 3: is the thing with animation, it's easy to ai and
[12:05] Speaker 3: fake it. When the CEO got caught cheating on his
[12:08] Speaker 3: wife at the Coldplay concept, there was a fake screenshot
[12:11] Speaker 3: of a Simpsons episode saying the Simpsons predicted it and
[12:14] Speaker 3: it was the guy. It literally looked like just the
[12:16] Speaker 3: same scene. But I think they're looking through like a
[12:17] Speaker 3: submarine window or something on and outside the window. I
[12:20] Speaker 3: don't know what it was anyway, I've seen one with
[12:23] Speaker 3: Skinner and Krabobol. I do know that this was just
[12:25] Speaker 3: it looked like people made mockery ones. Yeah, and people
[12:29] Speaker 3: and news websites didn't fact check it. That has went
[12:32] Speaker 3: oh my god, they've done it again, and all these
[12:34] Speaker 3: news websites shared it, and Matt someone's just kind of
[12:36] Speaker 3: gone to say, look, can we please get back to
[12:39] Speaker 3: the era where people fact checked things, because yes, you
[12:42] Speaker 3: might have seen it shared on social media. Make sure
[12:45] Speaker 3: we did it, because.
[12:45] Speaker 1: It reflects poorly on us as well, because like, why
[12:47] Speaker 1: would we this makes no sense. Why would we have
[12:50] Speaker 1: two carters exactly the same hugging the same way on
[12:53] Speaker 1: a jumbo tron. It's just stupidity.
[12:55] Speaker 3: But news websites now want to be the first ones
[12:57] Speaker 3: to say, oh my god, the Simpsons predicted it.
[12:59] Speaker 1: Yeah, people, just remember what does it? Don't believe none
[13:03] Speaker 1: of what you see and only half of what you're here,
[13:04] Speaker 1: all the other way around either way. Yeah, don't necessarily
[13:07] Speaker 1: trust your eyes and ears. No, do a little research.
[13:09] Speaker 3: But they did reveal some upcoming guests for season thirty seven,
[13:13] Speaker 3: some of them you're.
[13:13] Speaker 1: Going to really like. Indeed, Yeah, some really good names
[13:16] Speaker 1: came through.
[13:17] Speaker 3: We've got Kieran Culkin, Viola Davis. I'm apologize, I don't
[13:21] Speaker 3: know who Viola Davis is, Oscar.
[13:23] Speaker 1: Winner, Fantastic Actor, indeed making a bit of a pivot
[13:27] Speaker 1: into action movie roles in her in her late fifties
[13:30] Speaker 1: early sixties, she was in a movie recently called G
[13:33] Speaker 1: twenty where she played the American President.
[13:35] Speaker 3: As soon as he said Oscar, I'm like, I guarantee
[13:37] Speaker 3: I know who she is now and other than I'm like, yeah,
[13:38] Speaker 3: I know she is yeah.
[13:39] Speaker 1: Yah, yeah, the star of the Woman King. Yeah.
[13:41] Speaker 3: But I saw her in Fences. I believe Bence is
[13:45] Speaker 3: good movie.
[13:45] Speaker 1: Yeah, And she was the other star of I think
[13:47] Speaker 1: it's the TV series How to Get Away with Murder? Okay, Yeah,
[13:50] Speaker 1: been working for ages, broke through now everywhere. Yeah. Virala
[13:55] Speaker 1: Davis absolutely shing a bell, string of bell it. Driselle
[13:58] Speaker 1: was going to be in there, knuckles for the kids
[13:59] Speaker 1: out there. Fantastic voice actor. Did you did you see
[14:02] Speaker 1: the John Favreau's redoing of the Jungle Book? I did,
[14:06] Speaker 1: Holly literally washed it like yesterday. Yeah. And he's Sheer
[14:10] Speaker 1: Khan is he? Yeah, he's probably the best voice performance
[14:13] Speaker 1: in it. And you've got great voice, great voices in it,
[14:16] Speaker 1: like Bill Murray and Christoph Walkan and all that kind
[14:18] Speaker 1: of stuff. Blue isn't Heah? Yeah? But it resemble with
[14:22] Speaker 1: Marvelous in it. So yeah, anytime you can hear that
[14:24] Speaker 1: man's dulcet tones, well it's only second to hearing you know,
[14:27] Speaker 1: guy Davis speak exactly. Yeah. Who else we got? We
[14:30] Speaker 1: got a gentleman named Cole Escola. He's very big on
[14:34] Speaker 1: Broadway at the moment and a play called Oh Mary.
[14:36] Speaker 1: He does a really good bit. I don't know if
[14:38] Speaker 1: it's with Seth. It might be with Colbert, who we
[14:40] Speaker 1: can talk about a little later, because yeah, he's always
[14:43] Speaker 1: in the news. I'm just gonna say it's Cola. Scola
[14:46] Speaker 1: is very gay, but he and when he appears on
[14:49] Speaker 1: Colbert he is dressed quite flamboyantly. He says, I really
[14:52] Speaker 1: want to play straight characters. I've been working on a
[14:54] Speaker 1: straight character and he does the best bro voice. We
[14:56] Speaker 1: should try and find this big, but it's very, very funny,
[14:59] Speaker 1: so I'm looking for to what he does. You got
[15:01] Speaker 1: an actor named Adam Paley. He was on a show
[15:03] Speaker 1: called Happy Endings. That's a bit of a I would
[15:06] Speaker 1: say a friend's knockoff. But you know how you had
[15:08] Speaker 1: friends and then it's like, well, what's going to be
[15:10] Speaker 1: the next friends? It might be how I met your mother?
[15:12] Speaker 1: It might be. I've tried and tried. They've certainly tried
[15:14] Speaker 1: Happy Endings. I think went for a few seasons and
[15:18] Speaker 1: it's got a real cult following, and he's a cast
[15:19] Speaker 1: member that is really really good. Tell me get set
[15:21] Speaker 1: in the message parlor. That's just why would you say that,
[15:25] Speaker 1: Why would you alienate the You're just smutty. They's just
[15:30] Speaker 1: met father and son, Brendan and Dominall Gleason. Yeah, that'll
[15:34] Speaker 1: be good Danny beauty from community. And biggest and best
[15:38] Speaker 1: news possibly the return of Albert Brooks.
[15:40] Speaker 3: He's back, maybe doing somehow. I did a I was
[15:43] Speaker 3: on the Simpsons Index recently just as a quick, little
[15:46] Speaker 3: like last minute thing. They said, you want to come on,
[15:47] Speaker 3: I guess is pulled down. I was like shot And
[15:49] Speaker 3: I had to review a season thirty two episode and
[15:51] Speaker 3: had Albert Brooks and you can just tell again there's
[15:54] Speaker 3: got Albert Brooks in the character meant nothing to the episode.
[15:56] Speaker 3: It's like, can you just fill two minutes of TV
[15:58] Speaker 3: for us?
[15:59] Speaker 1: Please? Please? Rift That's literally all it was.
[16:01] Speaker 3: So hopefully we get more of that because I'm not
[16:03] Speaker 3: going to say no, because Albert Brooks is hilarious. Also,
[16:05] Speaker 3: Glenn howardon, it's always funny. And also Michael Keaton, Michael Keaton,
[16:09] Speaker 3: I didn't see that one. Also during the panel I'm
[16:12] Speaker 3: quoting here, Simpsons producers shared a sneak preview of one
[16:15] Speaker 3: of this year's Treehouse of Horror Halloween segments. Idris Elber,
[16:18] Speaker 3: Michael Keaton, and Viola Davis will be guest starring on
[16:21] Speaker 3: that episode. Yeah, and an opening from guest animators Stan
[16:24] Speaker 3: Kelly from the Onion from Onion, Yes. I feel like
[16:27] Speaker 3: the Trios of Horror episodes of The Simpsons now in
[16:30] Speaker 3: modern times are really the only ones.
[16:31] Speaker 1: People talk about.
[16:33] Speaker 3: A lot of people talked about this season Bart's birthday
[16:35] Speaker 3: because they started off like it was going to be
[16:36] Speaker 3: the end of the Simpsons, and news websites just remembered
[16:38] Speaker 3: it saying the Simpsons just they're finale, when it's like
[16:41] Speaker 3: it wasn't their finale. Treos of Horror gets people talking.
[16:45] Speaker 3: And then the last one, the finale, the actual finale
[16:47] Speaker 3: of the season, was where Marge died, but she didn't
[16:50] Speaker 3: really die. Yes, So, unless unless they can get some
[16:53] Speaker 3: clickbait out of it, people don't talk about Simpsons anymore.
[16:56] Speaker 3: And it's a shame, but it's just where we are
[16:57] Speaker 3: in twenty twenty five. But the treos of horror episodes
[16:59] Speaker 3: see to always get people talking at least oh yeah,
[17:02] Speaker 3: absolute because they're the most fun.
[17:04] Speaker 1: I think. Now, I think people are I would say people.
[17:06] Speaker 3: Are over to seeing basic Simpsons stories, but they just
[17:10] Speaker 3: want to see the Simpsons parodys shit now, I think, right, I.
[17:12] Speaker 1: Think so, yeah, yeah, which is hopefully they can sort
[17:15] Speaker 1: of steer it back in the direction of you know,
[17:18] Speaker 1: this is a story about a family, about a community,
[17:19] Speaker 1: about a town, and all that kind of stuff, and
[17:23] Speaker 1: I don't know, reconnect with the audiences that way, as
[17:25] Speaker 1: opposed to just did a little did do do? And
[17:28] Speaker 1: now in this in this corner, we have so and so.
[17:30] Speaker 1: Now we have Michael Keaton, Now we have by all
[17:32] Speaker 1: the Davis. Now we have so and so. Get back
[17:34] Speaker 1: to the basics, baby, get back to good soul of storytelling. Yeah,
[17:37] Speaker 1: old time hockey.
[17:40] Speaker 3: I will say this though, my kids, who are now
[17:43] Speaker 3: seven and four nearly five, they want to watch the
[17:46] Speaker 3: Simpsons quite a lot now, but they want to watch
[17:49] Speaker 3: modern Simpsons. They like the old Simpsons. I put on,
[17:52] Speaker 3: they sit down and enjoy it. But if they're in
[17:54] Speaker 3: charge of the remote control. They're picking new Simpsons, So
[17:57] Speaker 3: you know what that tells me, don't give the kids
[17:58] Speaker 3: a remote. Of course that that and we're just getting
[18:03] Speaker 3: old and the Simpsons we're complaining about. It's because it's
[18:05] Speaker 3: not made for us anymore.
[18:06] Speaker 1: Well, yeah, we've said this in the past, We'll continue
[18:08] Speaker 1: to say it again. I'm gonna keep saying to like
[18:10] Speaker 1: kill over and then they'll be dancing in the streets.
[18:15] Speaker 3: But yeah, so that's a bit of news there for
[18:17] Speaker 3: season thirty seven. But out of SDCC, Yeah, there's mean
[18:20] Speaker 3: more Simpsons news in a few moments. But let's get
[18:23] Speaker 3: to another question. This one comes from John Looney. If
[18:27] Speaker 3: you were able to use a Simpsons related vehicle for
[18:30] Speaker 3: your daily driver, what vehicle would you choose? I personally
[18:33] Speaker 3: would take Little Bandit, which is Snake's car Premium Dude,
[18:37] Speaker 3: because muscle cars are badass, as he says.
[18:39] Speaker 1: I agree, car. I agree with John on this point.
[18:43] Speaker 1: I had this the other day. I mean, sorry, I
[18:46] Speaker 1: don't want to be all gloomier like sadness is the
[18:48] Speaker 1: default mode these days, but I was driving down the street.
[18:52] Speaker 1: Keep mars out the cars, as you should do when
[18:54] Speaker 1: you're driving. They're all the same they're all the same.
[18:56] Speaker 1: They're all white, gray, or black, and they all look
[18:58] Speaker 1: the same. Yeah. It made me a little blue yeah,
[19:03] Speaker 1: which is not a color you can find in cars.
[19:05] Speaker 3: Then I said it the other day and Nicoly goes,
[19:06] Speaker 3: are you just getting old? I was like, look though,
[19:08] Speaker 3: and she looked and she's like, oh Christ, you're right.
[19:11] Speaker 1: They're all the same.
[19:12] Speaker 3: They're gray, like there are some variants, but she's like,
[19:14] Speaker 3: they're majority gray, white or black and they all look
[19:17] Speaker 3: the same.
[19:17] Speaker 1: Oh yeah, very much. So. So yeah, in thinking about
[19:21] Speaker 1: your question, John, I was muscle car. Absolutely. I was
[19:24] Speaker 1: thinking Homer's muscle car from my married Marge, the one
[19:26] Speaker 1: he had to give up.
[19:28] Speaker 3: Which one's that.
[19:29] Speaker 1: It's the one that had the Disco Sucks sticker on
[19:31] Speaker 1: it and it had like the chain mail steering wheel.
[19:35] Speaker 1: He had to give up a car, didn't he. I'm
[19:36] Speaker 1: pretty sure that he had. He had like his muscle car.
[19:39] Speaker 1: And then he realizes Marge is pregnant and he's like, well,
[19:41] Speaker 1: this isn't practical anymore. I'm gonna have to go seventy
[19:44] Speaker 1: sports cars at the one. I think, so yeah, oh
[19:46] Speaker 1: I see it. Yeah, shit with no recuction of the
[19:49] Speaker 1: car at all, because Honestly, it kind of feels like,
[19:52] Speaker 1: again not wanting to be that person who's like everything
[19:54] Speaker 1: was better in the past, but it does feel like
[19:56] Speaker 1: for cars at least, and maybe for a lot of things,
[19:58] Speaker 1: like the seventies was the last gasp of form and function.
[20:02] Speaker 1: This was a car that had some real grunts, some
[20:04] Speaker 1: real oomph under the hood, but also like had Curbs, Baby, Yeah,
[20:10] Speaker 1: Tivin and Simpsons Hit and Run. How did I not
[20:11] Speaker 1: remember this? Yeah, dude, So yeah, that's the kind of
[20:15] Speaker 1: car that I would like. I mean, I was. I've
[20:17] Speaker 1: never really been a huge car guy. I mean neither.
[20:19] Speaker 1: It just gets me from A to B and that's fine,
[20:21] Speaker 1: you know, as long as you know the tires don't
[20:23] Speaker 1: go flat and don't know the engine turns over when
[20:25] Speaker 1: you turn the key, that's all. I'm interesting. Or maybe
[20:27] Speaker 1: even push the button because apparently coached them he had keys.
[20:31] Speaker 1: That scares me.
[20:33] Speaker 3: Well, a friend of ours lost their phone the other
[20:35] Speaker 3: day and they go, I can't turn my car on. Now,
[20:37] Speaker 3: I went, They've got a Tesla. They've got a Tesla
[20:39] Speaker 3: and they can only turn their phone if the doors
[20:41] Speaker 3: only open up, if they have their phone Bluetooth.
[20:43] Speaker 1: I was I was like, what, what's the like we
[20:48] Speaker 1: lost control somewhere. Yeah.
[20:51] Speaker 3: Anyway, I like the idea of Chester lamp Wick's rocket
[20:56] Speaker 3: car that he buys when he sues Itching and Scratchy. Right,
[20:59] Speaker 3: but I've placed sabs is hit and run and that
[21:01] Speaker 3: car explodes after one hit, so it's not a very
[21:04] Speaker 3: strong vehicle for pure speed. The rocker car a lot
[21:08] Speaker 3: of fun. I'm gonna maybe go with. I think it'd
[21:12] Speaker 3: be good to drive around in the snow in the
[21:14] Speaker 3: mister Plower or the plower King.
[21:16] Speaker 1: I must have been. I was thinking of something that
[21:17] Speaker 1: had a bit of size to it, a bit of girth,
[21:20] Speaker 1: and when people yeah, yeah, yeah, and when people when
[21:22] Speaker 1: you drove down the street, people acknowledge you just the
[21:24] Speaker 1: plower King or it's mister plow. You know. How do
[21:27] Speaker 1: you feel when you see someone who's got like advertising
[21:30] Speaker 1: in their cars either are like a soul trade or something.
[21:32] Speaker 1: I mean, I don't mind it if it's a ute
[21:34] Speaker 1: or something like that. When it's oh, come unblock your
[21:38] Speaker 1: drains or you know, or I'm a sparky and I'm
[21:40] Speaker 1: sort of advertising myself. Cool, yeah, exactly. If it's more
[21:45] Speaker 1: like a service industry, your power guy here is, you know,
[21:47] Speaker 1: entering the celebricy game. I wouldn't want to be driving
[21:50] Speaker 1: around a car that said Kay Davie a celebrant and sad.
[21:53] Speaker 1: I mean, even though it's probably as good advertising. Were
[21:55] Speaker 1: you like this? Yeah, there's your thumb alphab.
[22:01] Speaker 3: Yes, people out there who are sitting there slamming down
[22:03] Speaker 3: their keyboards saying, how do you possibly not say the
[22:06] Speaker 3: canyon Era yet? Yes, the Canyonary would be very fun
[22:08] Speaker 3: to drive, Like I.
[22:11] Speaker 1: Said, like mister Plowermobile Barnie's answer to that, Yes, indeed,
[22:16] Speaker 1: canyon Neero. Yeah, I probably missung that, but I mean,
[22:19] Speaker 1: you know.
[22:19] Speaker 3: They'd be a tease for one of the Simpsons songs
[22:21] Speaker 3: a little bit later.
[22:22] Speaker 1: Maybe that's a great thing.
[22:25] Speaker 3: But yeah, mister Plower the ployer king that they'd be fine,
[22:27] Speaker 3: I reckon cane Era as well. Four figure discount is

[23:00] Speaker 3: Mike Stanton, with the Simpsons Movie celebrating its eighteenth anniversary
[23:04] Speaker 3: this week. Congratulations to all those who wor.
[23:07] Speaker 1: In the film.
[23:08] Speaker 3: Do you think the film deserves the hate it receives
[23:10] Speaker 3: from some fans? I personally really enjoy it and watch
[23:13] Speaker 3: it at least once a year. Cheers for the podcast. Hey,
[23:16] Speaker 3: thanks very much, Thank you, Mike. Does the Simpsons Movie
[23:18] Speaker 3: deserve the hate to receipts from fans? Of course, it
[23:20] Speaker 3: doesn't deserve hate. I don't think it deserves hate. I mean, look,
[23:23] Speaker 3: everyone's entitled their opinion or als. If it doesn't work
[23:25] Speaker 3: for you, it doesn't work for you, Ye'll be sure
[23:27] Speaker 3: to back up your opinion with the actual opinions. I
[23:32] Speaker 3: do think the film came out ten years too late.
[23:34] Speaker 3: I think it really If the film came out during
[23:37] Speaker 3: that nineties era, everyone who grew up with the show
[23:40] Speaker 3: would have that nostalgia connection to the movie. And even
[23:42] Speaker 3: if it had flaws like the Simpsons movie does, they
[23:45] Speaker 3: would forgive them more than they do. Because it came
[23:47] Speaker 3: out in season eighteen.
[23:48] Speaker 1: I think you're right in that regard. Coming out at
[23:50] Speaker 1: the time that it did. I won't say it necessarily
[23:53] Speaker 1: felt like a cash grab, but it also didn't necessarily
[23:55] Speaker 1: feel like a celebration of the Simpsons and Springfield and
[23:58] Speaker 1: that kind of thing. I kind of think it did,
[24:01] Speaker 1: but yeah, I can agree. But yeah, if it came
[24:03] Speaker 1: out in the midst of what we traditionally call the
[24:06] Speaker 1: Vintage Simpsons or the Golden Era or something like that,
[24:08] Speaker 1: it would have been, oh my god, this is bursting
[24:11] Speaker 1: with such creativity that we can't limit it to how
[24:15] Speaker 1: many episodes of season or something like that. We've got
[24:17] Speaker 1: to go. We've got to give you more. We've got
[24:19] Speaker 1: so many ideas and so much that we want to express.
[24:22] Speaker 1: I think when you've got a movie that's based on
[24:24] Speaker 1: a TV series, and I'm not talking about like a
[24:27] Speaker 1: TV series that it was on TV for a while,
[24:30] Speaker 1: off the air for a couple of years, people start
[24:31] Speaker 1: thinking about it, let's do a big screen reboot, thinking
[24:34] Speaker 1: like The Fugitive or Mission Impossible or something like that.
[24:36] Speaker 1: I see it yeah, but when you're doing something, it's
[24:39] Speaker 1: like this show is still on the air, but we're
[24:40] Speaker 1: also going to do a movie. Like, you're better be
[24:43] Speaker 1: very careful. I think you really need that gap in between.
[24:47] Speaker 1: It's been off the air for a while, it had
[24:50] Speaker 1: time to miss it. Yeah, we're bringing it back this
[24:52] Speaker 1: time in movie form BD and look, sometimes that can
[24:55] Speaker 1: work absolutely. I mean I was never a huge Sex
[24:58] Speaker 1: in the City guy. But we're going to see the
[25:01] Speaker 1: first movie. I was like, oh, well, they've actually made
[25:04] Speaker 1: this into a movie. It feels like it's got big
[25:06] Speaker 1: screen production values and all that kind of stuff, as
[25:10] Speaker 1: opposed to just it's an episode of Sex and the City.
[25:13] Speaker 1: It's three episodes of Sex and the City sort of
[25:15] Speaker 1: stacked back to back.
[25:16] Speaker 3: I would have been so when the Simpsons movie came
[25:17] Speaker 3: out two thousand and seven, so I would have been
[25:20] Speaker 3: eighteen ish. Well, I mean eighteen ish, I guess eighty
[25:23] Speaker 3: eighteen ish. It still felt like a big deal. It
[25:26] Speaker 3: felt I wasn't generally as excited it would have been
[25:28] Speaker 3: had I been a kid, but it was almost like
[25:30] Speaker 3: a relief of well, finally we're getting a movie, and
[25:33] Speaker 3: there was so much marketing behind it, so I think
[25:36] Speaker 3: just the hype of me being a lifelong Simpsons fan.
[25:39] Speaker 3: At that point in time, a lot of my friends
[25:42] Speaker 3: had just moved on, a lot of Simpsons fans who
[25:44] Speaker 3: grew up with the show hadn't moved on, right, and
[25:46] Speaker 3: I was still sticking true.
[25:47] Speaker 1: At the show.
[25:48] Speaker 3: It felt like, oh, maybe this would be a way
[25:50] Speaker 3: of getting all my friends back onto the Simpsons. And
[25:52] Speaker 3: it felt like it was cool again to talk about
[25:55] Speaker 3: the Simpsons when for a long while I was like,
[25:56] Speaker 3: you're still watching the Simpsons. And now it's like, oh know,
[25:59] Speaker 3: the movie's come. Everyone's going, oh, yeah, I'll go see
[26:01] Speaker 3: the Simpsons movie. And it felt cool to be a
[26:03] Speaker 3: Simpsons fan again. Yeah, and I don't think it's cool
[26:06] Speaker 3: to be a Simpsons fan anymore.
[26:07] Speaker 1: You know, if you're asking people to pay for what
[26:09] Speaker 1: they get for free every week, yeah, you've got You've
[26:11] Speaker 1: really got a certain you've got your work cut out
[26:13] Speaker 1: for it. Plus there's another thing as well. I mean
[26:15] Speaker 1: I'm not really sort of this is leading away from
[26:18] Speaker 1: the Simpsons element. Really shouldn't do sorry about that. But
[26:21] Speaker 1: the way Prestige TV is these days, there's very little
[26:24] Speaker 1: difference between say, an episode of Game of Thrones or
[26:28] Speaker 1: House the Dragon, or and your average sword and sorcery movie.
[26:33] Speaker 3: Stranger Things season five apparently every episode's like two hours
[26:36] Speaker 3: or something. Yeah, streaming has ruined the idea of a
[26:39] Speaker 3: TV show being a movie because essentially our mini movies
[26:41] Speaker 3: now aren't they very much the case because they are.
[26:44] Speaker 3: They're just making the Stranger Thing season five. Every episode
[26:47] Speaker 3: is almost like a movie now, basically so because they
[26:50] Speaker 3: have the capabilities to do so, and Netflix just go
[26:53] Speaker 3: as long as you want to.
[26:53] Speaker 1: Kind of thing. Yeah, I don't think TV shows could
[26:56] Speaker 1: really do it anymore, could they. Bluey's doing it though,
[26:58] Speaker 1: Blue Porpatok kids shows maybe and get Simpsons, Yeah, well
[27:02] Speaker 1: certainly with kids because yeah, I mean I think movies
[27:04] Speaker 1: these days are either huge event kind of deals or
[27:09] Speaker 1: there's something you take the kids to you want to Okay,
[27:12] Speaker 1: the kids still want to watch stuff, but we don't
[27:13] Speaker 1: want to keep them in the house all day and
[27:15] Speaker 1: go to the boos. We'll make it an event. So yeah,
[27:17] Speaker 1: And if you've got a property like Bluey, which I think,
[27:19] Speaker 1: as we were discussing the other day, kind of is that.
[27:22] Speaker 3: It's the closest thing to the Simpsons I think we have.
[27:24] Speaker 1: It is or certainly that show that everyone could watch together.
[27:28] Speaker 3: Yep, exactly right, and Poor Patrol right for example, the
[27:31] Speaker 3: main por Patrol movies, that kind of thing. You go
[27:33] Speaker 3: to the movies and you watch it with the kids,
[27:35] Speaker 3: and you sit in there going, you've just made this
[27:36] Speaker 3: to sell new toys, and that's the idea of kids.
[27:39] Speaker 1: Obviously.
[27:40] Speaker 3: The Blue Movie, though, feels like they're making it because
[27:42] Speaker 3: there is a demand for a Blue movie and you
[27:44] Speaker 3: don't feel like they're going to make it and flog
[27:46] Speaker 3: new toys, new characters. It feels like they're making it
[27:49] Speaker 3: out of the love of the show.
[27:51] Speaker 1: And you've got to put yourselves into a child's mindset
[27:54] Speaker 1: as well, whereas like, Okay, you're watching it home. I
[27:56] Speaker 1: mean the middle of your TV's probably pretty big, probably
[27:59] Speaker 1: got the high definition and all that kind of stuff,
[28:00] Speaker 1: but actually going to somewhere where like the screen is big.
[28:04] Speaker 1: The Blue Movie is going to be massive, Yeah, and
[28:05] Speaker 1: you're going to be in a room full of kids
[28:06] Speaker 1: who are also feeling like Blue bandit. Yeah, you can't wait.
[28:09] Speaker 1: It's going to be massive. Yeah, it's gonna create that
[28:12] Speaker 1: vibe that you and I often talk about when it's like,
[28:16] Speaker 1: what is the magic of the movies. Well, the magic
[28:17] Speaker 1: of the movies is being in a dark room. You're
[28:19] Speaker 1: all having the shared experience with hopefully a story that
[28:24] Speaker 1: really hooks you in. It's got moms that make you
[28:26] Speaker 1: feel great. It's got performances and actors where you go, wow,
[28:28] Speaker 1: I really want to be like that personal Oh God,
[28:31] Speaker 1: that's so cool.
[28:32] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[28:32] Speaker 1: And I get the feeling for quoting it. Yeah, you
[28:35] Speaker 1: work out quoting it.
[28:36] Speaker 3: It becomes a part of your life, the quotes.
[28:38] Speaker 1: It's imprinted in the DNA.
[28:40] Speaker 3: And I feel like as a parent of two small
[28:42] Speaker 3: kids walking out of watching the Blue Movie and walking out,
[28:45] Speaker 3: I feel like we will have experienced something together. Sure,
[28:48] Speaker 3: I'm excited for the Blue Movie. I think as a parent,
[28:49] Speaker 3: what you've seen so many Blue episodes, you're able to
[28:52] Speaker 3: enjoy the show as well. It's not just for kids,
[28:54] Speaker 3: it's for the adults as well. And I think it's
[28:56] Speaker 3: going to be a shared experience that we will remember forever. Oh.
[29:00] Speaker 1: I mean recently on the Movie Guide with Marlton Davis
[29:03] Speaker 1: talked about airplane Slash flying high and I remember seeing
[29:07] Speaker 1: that with my parents when I was a little kid,
[29:09] Speaker 1: and my mom just absolutely cracking up at certain scenes.
[29:12] Speaker 1: In that, and I mean, I've seen my mum love
[29:15] Speaker 1: laugh of course, but I've never seen her like Sorry, Margaret,
[29:20] Speaker 1: maybe it nearly pissed herself laughing because she was enjoying
[29:23] Speaker 1: it so much, and it made me just like, it's
[29:25] Speaker 1: really sweet. I'm so happy that my mum is so
[29:28] Speaker 1: happy about this.
[29:29] Speaker 3: I have Simpson's moments where I remember my dad or
[29:32] Speaker 3: my mum laughing, and I love those jokes because it
[29:35] Speaker 3: literally takes me back to being in the lantern.
[29:37] Speaker 1: With my parents.
[29:37] Speaker 3: Absolutely, yeah, that's great, But thank you for that question, Mike.
[29:41] Speaker 3: Getting back to John Looney, he also wrote in too
[29:44] Speaker 3: so he had a really long email. I'll read it
[29:46] Speaker 3: out to you here. Oh okay, so he says, here,
[29:49] Speaker 3: this is the mailbager fourfinger discap dot com dot you. So, hey, guys,
[29:52] Speaker 3: my name is John. You can call me Looney. I
[29:54] Speaker 3: have been a patron and listening to your podcast show
[29:56] Speaker 3: for quite some time now.
[29:57] Speaker 1: Thanks John.
[29:58] Speaker 3: It took all this time for me to realize your
[30:00] Speaker 3: mail bank ended with dot au. So I've just been
[30:03] Speaker 3: throwing around my questions at the wind. So I just
[30:05] Speaker 3: had some random comments thoughts that have popped up whilst
[30:07] Speaker 3: listening and I wanted to offer some one Simpsons related question,
[30:10] Speaker 3: of course, which you've already answered a while ago on
[30:12] Speaker 3: the Futurama podcast, which we do exclusively for our patrons,
[30:15] Speaker 3: Tales of Futurama. I believe it was questioned why al
[30:18] Speaker 3: Gore was on the show so much. I believe it
[30:20] Speaker 3: was his niece who wrote for the show, and that's
[30:22] Speaker 3: why he agreed to go on the show so much.
[30:24] Speaker 1: There we go, that's that answer. That's Kristen Gore, I believe.
[30:26] Speaker 1: H Okay.
[30:27] Speaker 3: A while ago, on one of the Random Simpsons podcasts,
[30:30] Speaker 3: it was mentioned how much you guys hate the DVD
[30:32] Speaker 3: releases of The Simpsons with the heads as the shapes
[30:34] Speaker 3: because they don't fit on the shove. It was incredibly frustrating.
[30:37] Speaker 3: I loved that it was a cool design, a fun novelty,
[30:40] Speaker 3: but then you put it on the shelf and you go, oh, no.
[30:44] Speaker 1: My organizational skills out the window.
[30:47] Speaker 3: I remember putting I remember getting my season six DVD.
[30:50] Speaker 3: It was the homerhead was the first one putting on
[30:51] Speaker 3: the schef and going to my sister saying, look at this.
[30:53] Speaker 3: Stacey stays look at me, going why do you care?
[30:58] Speaker 3: This is what's bothering you.
[31:01] Speaker 1: Everybody's got there something like our stack's neat.
[31:05] Speaker 3: Yeah exactly, but it says fun fact. The Simpsons creators
[31:09] Speaker 3: heard the response and they created a website just to
[31:11] Speaker 3: exchange the head versions with a more standard looking season
[31:14] Speaker 3: dvid e case. They released those in stores here as well,
[31:16] Speaker 3: just standards. They looked the same. I bought them all
[31:19] Speaker 3: as well, We're also but they waited until all of
[31:21] Speaker 3: them were released first, so you bought the first ones
[31:24] Speaker 3: and then they re released the boxes.
[31:25] Speaker 1: No flies on those guys.
[31:27] Speaker 3: No, and certain seasons are more rare than others because
[31:30] Speaker 3: of the duel releases. Maybe in the states' mu sure
[31:32] Speaker 3: wherever you're from, but in Australia you can get them
[31:34] Speaker 3: at the up shop. But the interesting part is this
[31:37] Speaker 3: on the website they were beyond sarcastic and almost plain mean,
[31:40] Speaker 3: because when you're filling out the form there were jokes
[31:43] Speaker 3: and stuff calling you for being a cry baby and
[31:45] Speaker 3: a whiner and whatnot, and this ticked off the people
[31:47] Speaker 3: even more than the DVD heads themselves. Just thought that's
[31:49] Speaker 3: a little bit of a fun fact. John, he's a
[31:51] Speaker 3: big physical media guy apparently as well.
[31:54] Speaker 1: You should be. You said, call you. We're going to
[31:57] Speaker 1: call you Looney Looney. You said to do it, so yes,
[32:00] Speaker 1: to do it? Yeah, good points, well made.
[32:02] Speaker 3: I know you guys like the PS one and New
[32:04] Speaker 3: era of the Simpsons games. Well I do, yes, but
[32:06] Speaker 3: I will suggest there are some good Simpsons games worth
[32:08] Speaker 3: playing on the Sega Genesis and some other which is
[32:11] Speaker 3: a Sega Mega Drive is it the Saga and some
[32:14] Speaker 3: other sixteen bit or even eight bit consoles like the Nests. Anyway,
[32:18] Speaker 3: Simpsons question. The Simpsons car question was Looney's. But thank
[32:20] Speaker 3: you all for the great content and continuing to wish
[32:22] Speaker 3: you guys well. Thank you Looney for that email.
[32:24] Speaker 1: Hey Looney, thank you for thank you for the email,
[32:26] Speaker 1: thank you for your wonderful talking once, thank you for
[32:28] Speaker 1: your patronage, and hey, thank you for being a friend.
[32:31] Speaker 3: And this one is from Jess, Hi, Dando guy and
[32:34] Speaker 3: potentially Nicola. Congratulations on the three cats stando. After some
[32:37] Speaker 3: recent Forefinger discount episodes, I thought I'd pass on some
[32:39] Speaker 3: pointers that worked for training our two cats now in
[32:42] Speaker 3: Kitty Heaven. Unfortunately, oh sorry to hear Jess. We had
[32:45] Speaker 3: a spray bottle of water from our local garden center,
[32:48] Speaker 3: so they did something. They weren't supposed to. They got
[32:50] Speaker 3: a spritz of water. It didn't hurt them, but they
[32:52] Speaker 3: didn't like it either. Though it might have taught them
[32:54] Speaker 3: to do the thing. Though it might have just taught
[32:56] Speaker 3: them to do the thing when we went around, as
[32:58] Speaker 3: opposed to when we were around generally hate citrus. So
[33:01] Speaker 3: at Christmas, we painted the lower branches of our Christmas
[33:03] Speaker 3: tree with orange oil. Nicola and I have actually discussed this.
[33:06] Speaker 3: We've gone what about the Christmas tree this year because
[33:08] Speaker 3: the kids.
[33:08] Speaker 1: Usually cover it and stuff? Yeah, what are we going
[33:11] Speaker 1: to do?
[33:11] Speaker 3: Yeah, so she says, he covered the lower branches of
[33:13] Speaker 3: Christmas trees of orange oil. We did this the first
[33:16] Speaker 3: year when they were a few months old, and I
[33:17] Speaker 3: promise you they never went near it. We only needed
[33:19] Speaker 3: to use the orange oil once and they never bothered
[33:21] Speaker 3: going near the Christmas tree again.
[33:22] Speaker 1: Oh, Jesse, you came in just right.
[33:25] Speaker 3: Sorry if you might have already heard these, but I
[33:27] Speaker 3: had good intentions and I swear by this advice. Good luck,
[33:29] Speaker 3: cat Dad. Well, thank you for the email, Jess.
[33:30] Speaker 1: That's great. Jessey had never apologize for having good intentions.
[33:33] Speaker 3: That's like a life hack. Citrus spray citrus all right,
[33:39] Speaker 3: let's get to another question, shall we. So this one
[33:41] Speaker 3: here comes from Rebecca Driver Driver. Yeah, from a visual perspective,
[33:46] Speaker 3: which character do you think has the most interesting design
[33:49] Speaker 3: and which has the most true to character design? That's
[33:52] Speaker 3: a really good question.
[33:53] Speaker 1: Yeah, and one that I was sort of batting my
[33:56] Speaker 1: head over. The one that came to mind immediately for
[33:59] Speaker 1: the opening the first half, this was OTTO an interesting way. Yeah, Yeah,
[34:03] Speaker 1: I mean headphones usually on the long hair. He looks
[34:08] Speaker 1: like a guy.
[34:09] Speaker 3: He looks like someone who would be smoking all day
[34:12] Speaker 3: and listening to heavy air.
[34:13] Speaker 1: Right. It feels like the kind of person that I
[34:15] Speaker 1: may have worked with in the past and again recently. Yeah. Yeah,
[34:20] Speaker 1: I feel like I've encountered one or two real life ottos. So, yeah,
[34:24] Speaker 1: I mean this this character design, I find it very interesting, Rebecca.
[34:28] Speaker 1: I think that covers both halfs of you of your question. Actually,
[34:31] Speaker 1: I find that character design really interesting and also find
[34:33] Speaker 1: it kind of authentic. Look. Sorry to be one size
[34:35] Speaker 1: fits all, but I'm gonna go with OTTO for mine.
[34:38] Speaker 3: I think crazy Cat Baity's pretty spot on from an
[34:40] Speaker 3: interesting perspective. Just the frazzle hair, it's the it's the
[34:44] Speaker 3: the old lady.
[34:45] Speaker 1: Skirt, Yeah, good points. We've got a cat hanging off
[34:47] Speaker 1: her back. One eye look in one way and another.
[34:50] Speaker 1: This may be a very guy coded answer because I
[34:53] Speaker 1: always bring up this person, wise guy, but it's wise guy.
[34:57] Speaker 1: I think wise guys. Wise guy looks like someone you
[35:00] Speaker 1: would run into in like an old school hardware store.
[35:03] Speaker 3: It looks like something you could run into anywhere. That's
[35:05] Speaker 3: the child of the character, isn't it all.
[35:08] Speaker 1: Working in admin in some medium range business or whatever. Yeah,
[35:16] Speaker 1: just a cog in the machine. But yeah, without that cog,
[35:20] Speaker 1: the machine kind of breaks down. I like Barney.
[35:23] Speaker 3: I think Barney really looks like someone who would live
[35:26] Speaker 3: at the bar. You know, he's got the he's got
[35:28] Speaker 3: a few rolls under his eyes, he's got frazzled hair,
[35:31] Speaker 3: he's got the overbite. His stomach's always just hanging out
[35:34] Speaker 3: of his shirt. His shirt never quite fits.
[35:36] Speaker 1: In that well.
[35:36] Speaker 3: So I like the Barney design the most true to
[35:39] Speaker 3: it's probably the most true to character as well. Yeah,
[35:42] Speaker 3: the most interesting. The duff Man ones. I've always liked
[35:44] Speaker 3: the duff Man design. Man's that's a great call, actually, Yeah,
[35:48] Speaker 3: just the suit, the muscles, the hat, the glasses, it's
[35:52] Speaker 3: everything you take away any peak part of that suit
[35:54] Speaker 3: and he doesn't feel like duff Man And it's true.
[35:56] Speaker 3: Yeah anymore, any character designs that seemed to fit the
[36:00] Speaker 3: HM almost interesting just to look at from a visual perspective, interesting,
[36:04] Speaker 3: simple disco stu. Oh yeah, it's an interesting character design.
[36:09] Speaker 1: Kind of like Miss Hoover.
[36:10] Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, in what way you look at Miss Hoover
[36:13] Speaker 3: and I mean maybe this is just me, but you
[36:15] Speaker 3: kind of create a little bit of a backstory for her,
[36:18] Speaker 3: you know, like, wonder what she was like at college.
[36:20] Speaker 3: You know, she was probably Oh, I had dreams of
[36:23] Speaker 3: being a poet or something along those lines, or writing
[36:26] Speaker 3: short stories or whatever. It never quite panned out for
[36:29] Speaker 3: It's like, Okay, well I'm going to take this teaching
[36:31] Speaker 3: gig too, so I can get by while I'm writing
[36:34] Speaker 3: my sonnets or something while I'm putting together my book
[36:36] Speaker 3: of verse. We have discussed on the show that she
[36:38] Speaker 3: feels like her missus Kay in particular, but I feel
[36:40] Speaker 3: like Miss Hoover would just be fun to just hang
[36:42] Speaker 3: out with and just hang shit on.
[36:45] Speaker 1: Other people with. Oh.
[36:46] Speaker 3: She seems bitchy, but not to the point where she's
[36:48] Speaker 3: overly cruel. She just seems like she'd just be a
[36:50] Speaker 3: wise ass.
[36:51] Speaker 1: I think so. I think she's every year there's just
[36:53] Speaker 1: a little bit more bitterness and a little mint sort
[36:55] Speaker 1: of resignation to like, that's not really playing out the
[36:58] Speaker 1: way I hoped. Okay, well, you know, and.
[37:00] Speaker 3: I feel like you could just chin up in some ways,
[37:02] Speaker 3: but also you could be yourself around her as well.
[37:04] Speaker 3: She feels very down to earth. What are we gett
[37:07] Speaker 3: pizza for dinner, my lady? But miss Hoover, Yeah that's
[37:12] Speaker 3: good call. And the design she does, she just looks
[37:15] Speaker 3: there's someone in there who just wants to break out. Yes, yeah,
[37:18] Speaker 3: that's that's a good character design as well. Yeah, good, good,
[37:20] Speaker 3: good answer. All right, This one here comes from Jess Hellman.
[37:25] Speaker 3: What is your favorite Simpsons song? What is your favorite
[37:28] Speaker 3: Simpsons song? She loves the Stonecutter's theme, which is why
[37:31] Speaker 3: I always look forward to hearing you guys do your
[37:32] Speaker 3: shout outs on the podcast. Of course, the patrons of ours,
[37:37] Speaker 3: the top tier supporters, are called Stonecutters, and they get
[37:39] Speaker 3: their names with it on every show. We'll do that
[37:41] Speaker 3: after this question.
[37:42] Speaker 1: Indeed, as if you needed another reason to become a Stonecutter.
[37:46] Speaker 3: Indeed, So, what's your favorite Simpsons.
[37:48] Speaker 1: Look, there really is only one answer to this, and
[37:50] Speaker 1: that's I do believe We're naked by Funky See Funky do.
[37:54] Speaker 3: What do you look for in a Simpsons song? Do
[37:55] Speaker 3: you want to upbeat and loud and crazy or do
[37:58] Speaker 3: you want it sort of more emotional? What do you
[37:59] Speaker 3: want Simpsons song?
[38:00] Speaker 1: Well? Look at varies, of course, doesn't. I mean something
[38:04] Speaker 1: that Simpsons is very very good at is finding that
[38:07] Speaker 1: musical accompaniment to either move the story forward or tell
[38:13] Speaker 1: you a little bit more about the character or a
[38:15] Speaker 1: character situation. So yeah, there are certainly times when it's like, oh,
[38:19] Speaker 1: this is a bit downbeat and a little sort of
[38:21] Speaker 1: not necessarily mellow, but more like, oh, this is making
[38:25] Speaker 1: me a little more emotional than I thought. I don't
[38:28] Speaker 1: mind those, but those are ones that I tend to
[38:31] Speaker 1: maybe respect more than enjoy. The ones that I've written
[38:35] Speaker 1: that I've written down here is my favorites. I really
[38:37] Speaker 1: like Bagged Me a Homer. I think that's I think
[38:39] Speaker 1: that's terrific. That whole episode Colonel Homer is incredible.
[38:42] Speaker 3: That's chocolate Block with great songs. And I don't think I,
[38:45] Speaker 3: as a kid really appreciated. But when we revisited it
[38:47] Speaker 3: for the podcast as an adult and someone who'd been
[38:49] Speaker 3: married as well, and just the storyline in general. That
[38:52] Speaker 3: episode is I still say, one of the most underrated
[38:55] Speaker 3: classic episodes of The Simpsons.
[38:56] Speaker 1: Yeah, the story, the music, everything about it is fantastic
[38:59] Speaker 1: and written by Matt Grainy indeed, and the music works
[39:02] Speaker 1: in concert with the storyline. The songs inform the story
[39:05] Speaker 1: and help it move forward.
[39:06] Speaker 3: Who was Beverly Dangelo known from the Well Vacation movies?
[39:11] Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think you played Loretta Lynn.
[39:15] Speaker 3: She did, Actually, that's why they That's what gave her
[39:17] Speaker 3: the idea for.
[39:17] Speaker 1: Yeah, Colemaner's Daughter. Oh hey, no, she might have played
[39:20] Speaker 1: Patsy kleiin she played someone Yeah in Colemner's Daughter, which
[39:23] Speaker 1: was about Lorette in and she sings the songs as well.
[39:26] Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Beverly Dangelo is quite the underrated talent. Colonel Homer.
[39:30] Speaker 3: If you have not revisited it in a while, do so.
[39:32] Speaker 1: It's amazing. But bagged me Homer is probably my favorite.
[39:35] Speaker 1: There's a lot of great songs in it, but that's
[39:36] Speaker 1: one that I really enjoy. I tend to like things
[39:38] Speaker 1: are a little more upbeat.
[39:39] Speaker 3: I like what's the one at the end that she sings.
[39:42] Speaker 1: I hope that it was just a lucky shit and
[39:45] Speaker 1: it's like, why am I crying? Look, I'm sorry. There's
[39:50] Speaker 1: a bit of a cliched answer, I know, because it
[39:52] Speaker 1: tends to be almost everyone's favorite. But I'm a big, big,
[39:55] Speaker 1: big fan of the Monorail song. I think, Okay, that
[39:57] Speaker 1: is just so well done for me.
[40:00] Speaker 3: I for a Simpsons song, I want as many characters
[40:03] Speaker 3: involved as possible, and that's one of those.
[40:05] Speaker 1: Yeah, when you get the little call and response and
[40:08] Speaker 1: I won't say it's apex Phil Hartman, but it's close,
[40:12] Speaker 1: it really is. I mean, sorry, my favorite, my favorite
[40:17] Speaker 1: Phil Hartmon moment is always going to be when Skinner
[40:19] Speaker 1: goes into his office said, so, Ron's Julie's around here.
[40:21] Speaker 1: Now you can have this one. It's half full. Well,
[40:24] Speaker 1: why don't just drink out of a toilet. He'll be back. Phil,
[40:30] Speaker 1: We love you when there's so much But yeah, the
[40:33] Speaker 1: Monorail song, I think is just fantastic. I've plaited a
[40:36] Speaker 1: couple of times before we started. It's like, this is
[40:39] Speaker 1: so good in so many ways.
[40:41] Speaker 3: Was such a swimmerly Lanley as well?
[40:43] Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, you're getting sold a bill of goods here,
[40:46] Speaker 1: but it's like, I'll allow it. She's so charming.
[40:49] Speaker 3: Yes, yes, and it's so fun because we used to
[40:52] Speaker 3: do Simpson Trivia nights and we had bows that go
[40:54] Speaker 3: who was singing Simpsons songs, and it was the perfect
[40:56] Speaker 3: song to sing in that scenario because he'd go glad
[40:59] Speaker 3: to soughly as a cloud, the ring came up, my
[41:01] Speaker 3: pudding can take my bed. The whole crowds back and
[41:03] Speaker 3: forth with him. Incredible and even.
[41:05] Speaker 1: If you don't know, you can just go monarel monare Ye.
[41:09] Speaker 1: So yeah, definitely bagged me a home and yeah, but
[41:13] Speaker 1: the Monorail song is sort of hiad and shoulders above
[41:15] Speaker 1: everything else as far as I'm concerned, What do you think?
[41:17] Speaker 3: Well, I agree with the great choices. I also, I've
[41:20] Speaker 3: always loved and it's always been my favorite. And it's
[41:23] Speaker 3: not the best song, but it's always my favorite. It's
[41:24] Speaker 3: we put the Spring in Springfield, same element. It's upbeat,
[41:27] Speaker 3: it's fun, it furthers the story and it's just but
[41:31] Speaker 3: it's just so ridiculous. But it includes so many different characters,
[41:33] Speaker 3: but we put the Spring in spring You can't even
[41:37] Speaker 3: smile when you think about the song, and that's what
[41:39] Speaker 3: I like in a Simpsons song. But what are your
[41:41] Speaker 3: thoughts on the ones where they're parroting a classic song.
[41:44] Speaker 3: I like the idea of them doing this because as
[41:46] Speaker 3: a kid watching you might not realize they're parroting something.
[41:49] Speaker 3: A classic one is See My Vest, which is be
[41:53] Speaker 3: Our Guest of Beauty and the Beast.
[41:54] Speaker 1: I like it fine. I was never I was a
[41:58] Speaker 1: little bit too old to sort of catch that wave
[41:59] Speaker 1: of Disney animation. Yeah, I knew it was out there.
[42:03] Speaker 1: I knew that it was really turning things around for Disney,
[42:05] Speaker 1: and I respected it and admired it. At the same time,
[42:07] Speaker 1: It's not like to have for a feel good movie,
[42:10] Speaker 1: I'm going to revisit The Bidding the Beast or Aladdin
[42:13] Speaker 1: or The Lion King. I know people love them. I
[42:16] Speaker 1: kind of like them, so and again with Seeing My Vest,
[42:19] Speaker 1: it's like, yeah, I know what you're doing here. It
[42:21] Speaker 1: was good enjoying it, not bad, but yeah, not necessarily
[42:24] Speaker 1: going to be one of one of my favorites.
[42:27] Speaker 3: So I liked it just purely because I liked the song.
[42:29] Speaker 3: I didn't even realize it was be Our Guest when
[42:31] Speaker 3: I was a kid. I'm bidding the beast. This wasn't
[42:33] Speaker 3: on my radar when I was a kid. I just
[42:34] Speaker 3: never really watched it.
[42:35] Speaker 1: But just.
[42:37] Speaker 3: Whenever someone's wearing your vest as a sincespen, you have
[42:39] Speaker 3: to say, sim.
[42:42] Speaker 1: If you're talking parody songs. This came up a little
[42:45] Speaker 1: while ago because I think you put it on line
[42:47] Speaker 1: as part of a meme or something when I was seventeen.
[42:50] Speaker 1: It was a very good I mean that got taken down. Yeah,
[42:55] Speaker 1: but to weave this whole history about Homer abdaining a
[42:59] Speaker 1: fake and all the details of it, because you probably
[43:02] Speaker 1: would have formative memories of like, oh, yeah, when I
[43:06] Speaker 1: was a kid in underage and trying to get my
[43:08] Speaker 1: first beers or whatever, and jump through all these hoops to.
[43:15] Speaker 3: Apparently that's sexual solicitation if you according to facebooks that algorithm.
[43:18] Speaker 3: So don't post that meme everybody.
[43:20] Speaker 1: The algorithm man who knows who knows what it's thinking.
[43:25] Speaker 1: So I enjoyed that one very much, But yeah, I
[43:27] Speaker 1: think it depends on you can admind respect and enjoy
[43:30] Speaker 1: the ingenuity of the Simpsons writing team coming up with, oh,
[43:34] Speaker 1: they're doing a play on this, and also your own
[43:36] Speaker 1: memories of that song the original. It's like, how clever
[43:40] Speaker 1: that they took this thing that I know or that
[43:43] Speaker 1: I love and you put a clock in it. That's great.
[43:46] Speaker 3: I want to acknowledge one that came a little bit
[43:48] Speaker 3: later and the Simpsons Golden Earrum. And when I first
[43:51] Speaker 3: watched this episode, I didn't really have any idea what
[43:53] Speaker 3: was going on, but it's those were.
[43:55] Speaker 1: The day's parody from what's the show?
[43:57] Speaker 3: The show was all in the family and the family,
[43:58] Speaker 3: but everyone always goes by to Michael Jackson still was black.
[44:03] Speaker 1: Those were the days.
[44:04] Speaker 3: And for no reason, here's a pooh And when I
[44:08] Speaker 3: first watched as a kid, I'm going, what is happening here?
[44:11] Speaker 3: And I'm like, I need to redo that again with
[44:14] Speaker 3: more modern times. What's something we could look back on now,
[44:17] Speaker 3: like something Brittany maybe yeah, yeah, yeah. And also I
[44:21] Speaker 3: want to throw a shout out to the episode sounding
[44:24] Speaker 3: the incredible Maggie Roswell as Sharry Bobbins Mary Poppins episode
[44:28] Speaker 3: since the color progalistic XBLA annoy gruntcious. Yes, yes, so
[44:33] Speaker 3: many good songs. That's purely just a parody of Mary Poppins.
[44:36] Speaker 3: But Maggie does such a good job in that song
[44:39] Speaker 3: in that episode. I still remember when Mitch and I
[44:41] Speaker 3: went to one of the comic cons when we first
[44:43] Speaker 3: started doing the podcast, and she was one of the guests,
[44:45] Speaker 3: and she agreed to do a little bit of an interview.
[44:47] Speaker 3: So I was just standing there and she's saying that
[44:49] Speaker 3: it's the American waits the person. I was like, this
[44:53] Speaker 3: is amazing, you know, just here seeing her sing that song.
[44:55] Speaker 3: I was like, Oh, it's the song I've heard so
[44:57] Speaker 3: many times now she's singing in front of me. Yeah,
[44:59] Speaker 3: so to able to make you roswell for that episode as.
[45:01] Speaker 1: Well, a lot of good songs in there. One that's
[45:04] Speaker 1: probably canceled these days.
[45:05] Speaker 3: Yes, all right, there's so many other Simpsons songs, So
[45:10] Speaker 3: please let us know in the comments which are your

[45:56] Speaker 3: give some shatut to a certain group of people, didn't I.
[45:58] Speaker 1: You did indeed cutting stones?
[46:00] Speaker 3: So yeah, they us cutting stones. Indeed, do you have
[46:02] Speaker 3: the stones of triumph?
[46:04] Speaker 1: What's that? A shame?
[46:05] Speaker 3: No?
[46:05] Speaker 1: Who doesn't have the stone of shame? It's this lady

[46:59] Speaker 1: Hall of famers. Everyone. All right, so we've gotten to
[47:02] Speaker 1: the page your own group. Now we're going to answer
[47:04] Speaker 1: some of their questions. The first one he comes from
[47:06] Speaker 1: our men, Andrew Swan. He wants to know where the
[47:08] Speaker 1: one about Friends podcast is. It's coming, It's coming. Andy
[47:14] Speaker 1: d says, Given the recent and ongoing situation, what are
[47:17] Speaker 1: your current thoughts on the Facebook at the moment? Are
[47:19] Speaker 1: we sticking with this page? We'll possibly be going to
[47:21] Speaker 1: migrant to discord. Discord would be a good idea. I reckon,
[47:24] Speaker 1: maybe Facebook lift your game, except that we love you all,
[47:28] Speaker 1: hail all, hell uck.
[47:32] Speaker 3: Mike Salter, are you pleasantly surprised by the quality of
[47:35] Speaker 3: season twenty or do you think this season is the
[47:37] Speaker 3: one where the show has actually had an unqualified dropping quality.
[47:40] Speaker 3: It's definitely going down in quality, but it's nowhere near
[47:43] Speaker 3: as bad as I expected.
[47:44] Speaker 1: No, I was. I won't say I was pleasantly surprised.
[47:46] Speaker 1: I willsoy, I was surprised by I mean, maybe we're
[47:49] Speaker 1: Dan and I just sort of glass half full kind
[47:51] Speaker 1: of people were.
[47:52] Speaker 3: Trying to focus on the positive of the episode. We
[47:54] Speaker 3: still do critique them, but yeah, it's one of those
[47:57] Speaker 3: seasons where I've just gone maybe five or so have
[47:59] Speaker 3: just been outright nothing. I wouldn't say, like annoyingly bad.
[48:03] Speaker 1: Nothing's on the.
[48:04] Speaker 3: Level of when Homer Chuck margin the driver's seat, when
[48:06] Speaker 3: you drove things like that. Nothing's made me angry. Just
[48:09] Speaker 3: some of them are just going, oh, this.
[48:10] Speaker 1: Is a struggle to get through. We're like your dad.
[48:13] Speaker 1: We're not mad, We're just disappointed. Were disappointed.
[48:15] Speaker 3: Yeah, we're just like mine. Of course, not Philip Westerby,
[48:22] Speaker 3: would you be up for doing the Bobs Burgers episodes
[48:24] Speaker 3: more regularly every fortnight? Maybe I just can't wait that long.
[48:27] Speaker 3: If we had more supporters on patre and then.
[48:28] Speaker 1: Maybe we would.
[48:29] Speaker 3: Well, yeah, it's just a case of we want to
[48:32] Speaker 3: do all these extra shows for you guys on Patreons.
[48:34] Speaker 3: We've got Bobs Burger's Sign, Fowler, King of the Hill, Futurma,
[48:37] Speaker 3: and we alternate them. But the thing is that we
[48:40] Speaker 3: only have so many hours in the week, and if
[48:42] Speaker 3: we had more supporters on Patreon, We're not putting our
[48:45] Speaker 3: hands asking for money. But that's the thing. If we could,
[48:48] Speaker 3: but we aren't doing that. If we could justify not
[48:49] Speaker 3: having to do work elsewhere and focus more so on
[48:52] Speaker 3: doing this, then yes, we would put more time to
[48:54] Speaker 3: doing more Bobb's Burger's podcast. So we ate more supporters
[48:56] Speaker 3: on Patreon, then sure we would.
[48:58] Speaker 1: As I like to say, no Buck Snowbuck Rogers.
[49:00] Speaker 3: Because basically what it would mean is because I'm still
[49:02] Speaker 3: doing all the editing of the podcast, that kind of thing.
[49:04] Speaker 3: So if we had more supporters, I could then pay
[49:06] Speaker 3: people to edit the podcast for me and we could
[49:08] Speaker 3: just focus on recording sending it to editors and getting
[49:11] Speaker 3: it out there. So that would be the dream, But
[49:13] Speaker 3: until we get more supporters on Patreon that way, it's
[49:16] Speaker 3: just not feasible for us at the moment, but we
[49:18] Speaker 3: would love to do it, of course.
[49:19] Speaker 1: Yes, Dan, I showed me how to wed it and
[49:21] Speaker 1: it gave me a nosebleed.
[49:22] Speaker 3: I'm I turned around, he was gone, have onn Alyssa, Catherine,
[49:29] Speaker 3: have you watched the season thirty six episode Women in Shorts?
[49:32] Speaker 1: Wondered what your thoughts are, as it's the closest thing
[49:34] Speaker 1: we've had to twenty two short films about Springfield. I
[49:36] Speaker 1: thought it was pretty good. Ah, I remember it being on.
[49:40] Speaker 3: I think it was just sort of I'd watched an
[49:41] Speaker 3: episode and it kept going into the next one. I
[49:44] Speaker 3: was getting twenty two short films about Springfield vibes. I
[49:48] Speaker 3: can't in good faith give a review on it now
[49:49] Speaker 3: because I can't really recall too much about it. But
[49:51] Speaker 3: it's twenty two short films, but it's all the women
[49:53] Speaker 3: of Springfield. But I will say when I was watching it,
[49:56] Speaker 3: I was enjoying it. So maybe that's something we can
[49:58] Speaker 3: do in the future. We can go back and revisit it.
[50:01] Speaker 3: And do it a review on that one.
[50:03] Speaker 1: All right, Well I've been worded up, so I will
[50:05] Speaker 1: be queuing that episode up and having a look at it.
[50:07] Speaker 3: Yeah, Rachel McLean, are there any season twenty one episodes
[50:10] Speaker 3: you are looking forward to revisiting or they all passed
[50:12] Speaker 3: when you stopped watching the show. I think I'm at
[50:14] Speaker 3: the point now where I stopped watching the show. Yeah,
[50:16] Speaker 3: I think we're There might be ones that pop up
[50:18] Speaker 3: where I go, oh, yeah, I remember seeing this one somewhere,
[50:20] Speaker 3: but I wasn't watching the show week to week.
[50:22] Speaker 1: In a little rewind to me, talking about Disney before
[50:25] Speaker 1: season twenty one is going to be a whole you
[50:29] Speaker 1: because I don't recall any episodes.
[50:31] Speaker 3: Well, here we go Season twenty one. The premiere is
[50:33] Speaker 3: as a homey home of the Whopper. Homer ends up
[50:35] Speaker 3: with a Superheroes physique after he has chosen to appear
[50:38] Speaker 3: in a film based on a character created by cominbook guy.
[50:40] Speaker 3: That's sund That's fun, okay, Bart gets a Z principal.
[50:43] Speaker 3: Skinner fires missus k after she makes a drunken full
[50:45] Speaker 3: of herself and I remember seeing that one, but Skinner
[50:47] Speaker 3: doesn't know that bar Spike to her coffee with alcohol,
[50:49] Speaker 3: so it wasn't her far Bartfield Bag's like, oh my god,
[50:50] Speaker 3: I got it fired. I do remember that one. There
[50:53] Speaker 3: are any that I'm excited for, but there will be
[50:54] Speaker 3: ones where I go, oh yeah, I remember seeing this one.
[50:56] Speaker 1: I'm excited because this is all undiscovered country for me. Yeah.
[50:59] Speaker 3: That is the exciting part about the podcast is we're
[51:01] Speaker 3: now in the era where and I'm sure I'm assuming
[51:04] Speaker 3: a lot of the listeners out there as well and
[51:05] Speaker 3: the viewers going I haven't watched them either, so we're
[51:07] Speaker 3: all going to watch them together. We're all in this both, baby,
[51:10] Speaker 3: strap yourselves in and feel the geez oh yeah. And
[51:13] Speaker 3: the final one here is just Andrew swant' oh reabody.
[51:15] Speaker 3: He wrote, Okay, I'm afraid I must insist you see
[51:18] Speaker 3: my wife she has been most focal on the subject
[51:20] Speaker 3: of the one about friends, whereas the one of our friends.
[51:22] Speaker 3: When are we're going to get the one about friends?
[51:23] Speaker 3: Why aren't we getting the one about friends now?
[51:25] Speaker 1: And so on? So please the one of our friends?
[51:28] Speaker 1: Very good Joe Montagne voice from you. Look, I'm going
[51:31] Speaker 1: to defer this to Dana because.
[51:32] Speaker 3: This is it's coming. It's just basically yeah, you'll find
[51:36] Speaker 3: out why. It has definitely come. We've got two episodes
[51:38] Speaker 3: in the can. We just want to make sure it
[51:39] Speaker 3: can be done on a weekly basically before we launch it.
[51:41] Speaker 3: I'm looking forward to getting it out there. It will
[51:43] Speaker 3: be coming. I promise you. I promise you. It's up
[51:45] Speaker 3: because Nicola and I I do the show with my wife.
[51:47] Speaker 3: We recover where we recover friends. We're up to season
[51:49] Speaker 3: two at the moment, and it's coming back in your
[51:51] Speaker 3: ears and then in front of your eyes as well.
[51:53] Speaker 1: We're gonna be.
[51:53] Speaker 3: Filming the show for YouTube going forward as well.
[51:55] Speaker 1: Wow, hope you guys are.
[51:56] Speaker 3: Enjoying all the video content here on the YouTube channel
[51:58] Speaker 3: at the moment. It's taken a long time to edit up,
[52:00] Speaker 3: but I think you guys appreciate it. Should we go
[52:02] Speaker 3: one more question, mister Davis, just get to another news story?
[52:05] Speaker 1: Well there was the other news story.
[52:06] Speaker 3: Yeah, you take us away. What was the other new story?
[52:08] Speaker 1: Well, the I guess Team Simpsons appeared at what we
[52:13] Speaker 1: were calling sd CC San Diego Comic Con, and they
[52:17] Speaker 1: took a little bit of well, they poked a bit
[52:19] Speaker 1: of fun. I took the mickey the mickey literally, it
[52:25] Speaker 1: was pretty smart out of their corporate overlords at Disney
[52:30] Speaker 1: by all coming out, well, they made the thing, Oh yeah, no,
[52:33] Speaker 1: we're not going to count out to our corporate bosses
[52:35] Speaker 1: or anything like that. And then they all came out
[52:37] Speaker 1: and doctor doom masks.
[52:39] Speaker 3: This is the thing. I feel like the Simpsons creators
[52:41] Speaker 3: and the writers our pal Matt like to think, they're like,
[52:44] Speaker 3: we're not doing what Disney tails like, you're doing exactly.
[52:46] Speaker 1: You're doing exactly even if you think you're kicking your
[52:51] Speaker 1: raging kids on the machine. No, you were paying into
[52:54] Speaker 1: the missiones. Yeah. So and look, with all due respect,
[52:59] Speaker 1: this feels a little sort of daylight and dollar short
[53:02] Speaker 1: in terms of the.
[53:03] Speaker 3: Yeah, it was a year ago to the day San
[53:04] Speaker 3: Diego last year. I saw people reshowing the video on
[53:07] Speaker 3: Twitter like this was so monumental. I'm like, was it
[53:10] Speaker 3: was it? When he took the mask off, I'm like,
[53:13] Speaker 3: I did say one guy that was like the funniest
[53:14] Speaker 3: part of it. This whole thing is that one guy
[53:16] Speaker 3: going Jared Lettle just before he takes the mask. It
[53:20] Speaker 3: felt cool at the time, but to me, it just
[53:22] Speaker 3: felt like, oh, we are pulling out straws very much
[53:27] Speaker 3: smash class emergency, quickly get me our DJ all right,
[53:31] Speaker 3: final a question here from Jet Gerdam. Hello from Los Alamos,
[53:35] Speaker 3: New Mexico. And since I'm writing this at work quite
[53:38] Speaker 3: literally feet away from the set of the movie Oppenheimer.
[53:40] Speaker 1: Wow.
[53:41] Speaker 3: So this was sent thirteenth of June, so not one
[53:44] Speaker 3: of the film was being made, but when they were
[53:46] Speaker 3: where they made it. Yes, we've been casually picking away
[53:49] Speaker 3: at The Muppet Show on Disney Plus with my kids
[53:52] Speaker 3: an episode here and there in the evenings before bed.
[53:55] Speaker 3: We're not watching any in any particular order, mostly just
[53:57] Speaker 3: whatever celebrity name jumps out at me at the moment
[54:00] Speaker 3: during scrolling. That's what I do as well. When'm thinking throw,
[54:02] Speaker 3: I'm like, hey, I know that person. Yes, it's mostly
[54:04] Speaker 3: the youngest child watching with us, nearly eight years old,
[54:07] Speaker 3: but the older kids pop in and out because they
[54:08] Speaker 3: all secretly love the Muppets, whether they want to admit
[54:10] Speaker 3: it or not. It's been a fun trip for me
[54:12] Speaker 3: since various skits are triggering memories for me from when
[54:15] Speaker 3: I watch them as a kid, and the wife and
[54:16] Speaker 3: I get to explain who the various guest stars are
[54:18] Speaker 3: to this generation. I e. Harvey Korman and Liberacci. Watching
[54:23] Speaker 3: Fozzy not recognized Lana Horne last night got me thinking
[54:25] Speaker 3: about how one Brendan Dando once said that he was
[54:28] Speaker 3: literally the world's biggest Muppet fans. And I said, the
[54:30] Speaker 3: world's biggest, all the world's biggest. But you know I'm
[54:32] Speaker 3: a big fan, you hinted. He always says or something
[54:34] Speaker 3: like that. And now I want to know when he's
[54:37] Speaker 3: going to put us one all these silly distractions of Bob's, Burger's,
[54:40] Speaker 3: Gilmore Girl podcasts and other suggestions, and I finally settle
[54:43] Speaker 3: down on his one true passion and give us that
[54:44] Speaker 3: long away toed the Muppet Show podcast Talking Muppets on
[54:47] Speaker 3: the four and on the Feldt Finger Discount Network.
[54:51] Speaker 1: Wow, something sounds like someone's angling for a position on
[54:54] Speaker 1: the board. Well, these are all valid. I would love
[54:58] Speaker 1: to do a Muppets podcast, is all allerget Yeah, by
[55:01] Speaker 1: all means, try and launch it, But we've got so
[55:02] Speaker 1: many other projects on the go we haven't. Someone are
[55:04] Speaker 1: going to have to get thrown over.
[55:06] Speaker 3: Yeah, So you can't keep adding things. Things have to
