[0:05] Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the right time. A wave original.
[0:09] Speaker 1: My name is Beaumont Jones. Thanks for listening wherever you
[0:11] Speaker 1: get your podcast. Thanks for watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like,
[0:15] Speaker 1: rate us, review us, give us five stars. You only
[0:17] Speaker 1: give us four stars. I'm inclined to believe you are
[0:20] Speaker 1: a hater. This time of week, we got a guest
[0:22] Speaker 1: joining us. Check him out. It's Merrill, the Kid Merrill, man. Like,
[0:26] Speaker 1: I lose track of what everything is. It's the Victory
[0:28] Speaker 1: Light podcast. I just feel like at this point, you
[0:31] Speaker 1: are your own freestanding entity.
[0:33] Speaker 2: Bro, I'm not a businessman. I'm a businessman. You know
[0:37] Speaker 2: what I'm saying? To go home. But now, you know,
[0:41] Speaker 2: we got it. Listen, like I always say, bro, I
[0:43] Speaker 2: got four kids and two mortgages. I got to stay
[0:46] Speaker 2: in motion. You know, if a shark stops swimming, they die.
[0:49] Speaker 2: So we got to keep the motion in.
[0:54] Speaker 1: You are definitely operating on the, this is a long-term
[0:58] Speaker 1: game program. It's like my daddy's argument for shopping and
[1:01] Speaker 1: getting gas at the cheap places. It's not about one tank.
[1:05] Speaker 1: It's about a lifetime behavior of getting tanks and then
[1:08] Speaker 1: eventually snack your bread.
[1:10] Speaker 2: That's it. That's it. That's all, man. I'm just out
[1:12] Speaker 2: here trying to get it. So we got Victory Light.
[1:14] Speaker 2: We got 7 p.m. You know what I mean? We
[1:16] Speaker 2: got According to the Kid. We got, you know what
[1:18] Speaker 2: I'm saying? I'm writing a book of essays about fatherhood,
[1:21] Speaker 2: you know, because I got way too many kids to count.
[1:24] Speaker 2: You know, so it's a lot of content coming from
[1:26] Speaker 2: your boy.
[1:27] Speaker 1: I'm going to be honest with you, brother. You're going
[1:30] Speaker 1: to have to earn the I'm going to listen to
[1:33] Speaker 1: Mero about being somebody's daddy. Like when that book comes out,
[1:38] Speaker 1: send me the copy. Yeah.
[1:40] Speaker 2: Oh, for sure. You get in the galley. Don't worry
[1:42] Speaker 2: about that. But it's like, it's more, it's more like
[1:45] Speaker 2: observational stuff. It's not a manual. Don't get it twisted.
[1:48] Speaker 2: Cause I tried to do that. And then I was like,
[1:49] Speaker 2: you know what?
[1:50] Speaker 3: Let's pivot away from this because I'm probably, I mean,
[1:53] Speaker 3: I get very good advice about being a dad, but
[1:57] Speaker 3: you know, it's, it's outside the box thinking, you know
[2:01] Speaker 3: what I'm saying?
[2:03] Speaker 2: You're not going to find my advice. I have no reason.
[2:07] Speaker 1: Yeah, like I have no reason to think that you're
[2:09] Speaker 1: not good at dadding, right? I just don't have that
[2:13] Speaker 1: many reasons to assume that you are. And that's not about,
[2:16] Speaker 1: that's as much about me as anything else. You know
[2:18] Speaker 1: what I'm saying? Like you have to admit you have
[2:20] Speaker 1: built a brand that does not imply that we should
[2:22] Speaker 1: be leaving kids with you.
[2:26] Speaker 2: But, hey, I'm the fun uncle, except when I'm your dad,
[2:28] Speaker 2: it's 24-7. You know what I mean? Right.
[2:33] Speaker 1: See, there we go. And now we have hit on,
[2:36] Speaker 1: now I want to read this book so bad. Like,
[2:38] Speaker 1: now I'm in. The homie Roy Woods got a book
[2:40] Speaker 1: about fatherhood and what he learned from different men. in
[2:44] Speaker 1: his life, and we're hoping to get him on to
[2:46] Speaker 1: talk about that. And so that could be an interesting juxtaposition.
[2:49] Speaker 1: Roy the dad versus Mero the dad. We always ought
[2:52] Speaker 1: to have you guys together doing a face-off sort of
[2:55] Speaker 1: thing on your parenting techniques based on what you picked
[2:57] Speaker 1: up in these streets.
[2:58] Speaker 2: Let's do it. All right.
[3:01] Speaker 1: Now, it is an interesting time, election week in New
[3:05] Speaker 1: York City, election on Tuesday, and This we are in
[3:10] Speaker 1: the midst of what for me, I've lived in a
[3:12] Speaker 1: lot of places now. I've lived in different regions of
[3:15] Speaker 1: the United States. I've never seen an election quite like
[3:19] Speaker 1: what's going on in New York City right now. And
[3:21] Speaker 1: I imagine a lot of you are familiar, which is
[3:23] Speaker 1: rare for an election in an odd number year. But
[3:25] Speaker 1: the mayor's race in New York is so interesting because
[3:28] Speaker 1: I feel like we all know who's going to win, right?
[3:31] Speaker 1: Zoran Mamdani is going to win. He did the hard
[3:35] Speaker 1: work early. He is going to win. I've never seen
[3:39] Speaker 1: more people more terrified of a diminutive South Asian man
[3:45] Speaker 1: that I have seen with people being... terrified of what
[3:49] Speaker 1: is going to happen if this dude wins oh my
[3:52] Speaker 1: goodness it is the wildest like you you are from
[3:55] Speaker 1: new york you lived around here forever you've seen giuliani
[3:59] Speaker 1: win elections like you've seen a lot of things this
[4:02] Speaker 1: this is different right it's.
[4:05] Speaker 2: It's different because it's like this there's like an energy
[4:08] Speaker 2: you know what i mean like that's like like just
[4:11] Speaker 2: like permeating like the city, right? Like you said, like
[4:14] Speaker 2: there's the side of people that are terrified and there's
[4:17] Speaker 2: a side of people that are like hopeful and are like, man, listen,
[4:21] Speaker 2: we've been doing the same shit for I don't know
[4:24] Speaker 2: how many years and it ain't got us nowhere. So
[4:27] Speaker 2: let's try something different. You know what I mean? And
[4:30] Speaker 2: then you got a guy who's, you know, not an
[4:32] Speaker 2: establishment politician, bro, which I think is kind of like
[4:36] Speaker 2: a barometer for the nation. You know what I mean?
[4:38] Speaker 2: Like people are tired of like the same old guys.
[4:41] Speaker 2: Like I told Zoran, When we were doing a walk-in
[4:44] Speaker 2: talk and I was just like, listen, bro, the problem
[4:47] Speaker 2: is that a lot of people are just uninformed voters, man.
[4:51] Speaker 2: They're just uninformed, dog. And if you run a guy
[4:54] Speaker 2: who has the same last name as another guy who
[4:57] Speaker 2: was formerly in office, they'll just be like, all right, well,
[5:00] Speaker 2: I guess he knows what he's doing. Let me go
[5:01] Speaker 2: just check that box. And I told him, I was like, listen,
[5:05] Speaker 2: brand loyalty is great. for ketchup, for tires, you know
[5:10] Speaker 2: what I'm saying? For bobby pins, whatever you use, bonnets,
[5:14] Speaker 2: whatever you use. Not for people, not for politicians. You
[5:18] Speaker 2: know what I'm saying? Just because my dad was a
[5:20] Speaker 2: great HVAC technician don't mean I'm going to come down
[5:22] Speaker 2: to your crib and fix your walk-in freezer. I don't
[5:24] Speaker 2: know what the fuck I'm doing in that regard. So,
[5:27] Speaker 2: you know what I mean? I think, like, with Cuomo,
[5:29] Speaker 2: it's crazy that you can have a guy... that failed
[5:32] Speaker 2: at governor, resigned, you know, like disgracefully. And then he's
[5:37] Speaker 2: trying to like do a, basically use the mayor, the
[5:40] Speaker 2: mayor's office as a PR campaign, four years of PR cleanup.
[5:45] Speaker 2: He's doing like the Saudi Arabia shit where he's just like, yo.
[5:47] Speaker 2: He's trying to get back. Yeah. He's trying to get back.
[5:50] Speaker 2: He's trying to like, you know.
[5:52] Speaker 1: Cuomo need to be in charge of something again. Like,
[5:55] Speaker 1: can you imagine what life has been to be around
[5:57] Speaker 1: him and he ain't had nothing to be in charge of?
[5:59] Speaker 1: I can only imagine how exhausting and insufferable he is.
[6:02] Speaker 1: Because look, man, you've seen these debates and stuff, man.
[6:04] Speaker 1: His heart ain't in it. He is not really trying
[6:07] Speaker 1: to do this, but he needs something to be in
[6:11] Speaker 1: charge of. But he clearly doesn't want to be the mayor.
[6:14] Speaker 1: You used to be the governor. Now you talk about
[6:16] Speaker 1: you want to be the mayor. You don't want to
[6:18] Speaker 1: be the mayor.
[6:19] Speaker 2: He don't. He just want to clean up his image,
[6:21] Speaker 2: be like, yo, I'm still a viable politician, y'all. Vote
[6:23] Speaker 2: for me. You know what I'm saying? And whatever, like
[6:26] Speaker 2: you said, like. Put me in charge of something. I
[6:29] Speaker 2: don't care if it's the North Shore Animal League, bro.
[6:31] Speaker 2: Put me in charge of something. You know what I mean?
[6:33] Speaker 2: Because I think Homie just has no marketable skills. And
[6:37] Speaker 2: as an elderly man with a pierced nipple, it's hard
[6:40] Speaker 2: to get a job out here.
[6:42] Speaker 1: Oh, I forgot about the pierced nipple.
[6:44] Speaker 2: Crazy work.
[6:45] Speaker 1: That's still, that's absurd.
[6:50] Speaker 2: Crazy work. Bo, if I'm a single issue voter, a
[6:53] Speaker 2: nipple ring is going to get you out of that.
[6:55] Speaker 2: It's eliminating you from my contention.
[6:59] Speaker 1: Imagine what it's like for the ladies. Because look, some
[7:04] Speaker 1: of us know what it's like when you stumble upon,
[7:08] Speaker 1: oh shit, It's a ring there.
[7:11] Speaker 2: Okay.
[7:12] Speaker 1: I don't know how that goes for women, though, when
[7:15] Speaker 1: this happens. Like, I don't feel like it's nearly as.
[7:18] Speaker 2: Intriguing as it is.
[7:21] Speaker 1: I don't know what it signals. I feel like, and honestly,
[7:24] Speaker 1: what it might signal to women is the exact opposite
[7:27] Speaker 1: thing of that which I wish to signal in that moment.
[7:31] Speaker 2: Thank you. You know what I'm saying? And that's the
[7:32] Speaker 2: other thing. The physiology of a woman's nipple is different
[7:37] Speaker 2: than that of a man's nipple. So for you to
[7:40] Speaker 2: get your nipple pierced as a woman is a lot easier.
[7:43] Speaker 2: There's more surface area of the nipple to account for.
[7:48] Speaker 2: So you mean to tell me that you got enough
[7:50] Speaker 2: nip to pierce and then you're going to go ahead
[7:53] Speaker 2: and do it. and follow through and be like, yo,
[7:55] Speaker 2: you know what? I got big nipples. You know what
[7:57] Speaker 2: I'm going to do? I'm going to make them more
[8:00] Speaker 2: unsightly by putting a big-ass ring in them. That's crazy.
[8:04] Speaker 2: And then you're going to do a serious State of
[8:06] Speaker 2: the Union of the, you know, blah-bitty-blue, whatever's going on,
[8:10] Speaker 2: with that white polo and the nipple ring sticking through
[8:12] Speaker 2: looking crazy. I was like, oh, nah, man. This got
[8:15] Speaker 2: to stop. That's crazy, dog. Imagine the president started gauging
[8:19] Speaker 2: their ears or something like that, doing some different shit,
[8:22] Speaker 2: and you'd be like, bro, this is not... Hey, do
[8:24] Speaker 2: what you do. Live your life, man. But if you
[8:27] Speaker 2: running a government office, I don't want you with no
[8:30] Speaker 2: type of shit on your face and your titties, bro.
[8:33] Speaker 2: Leave that shit alone.
[8:36] Speaker 1: Well, hold on. This is what this is now making
[8:38] Speaker 1: me wonder is who out here, it could be a politics,
[8:45] Speaker 1: it could be a whole bunch of spaces, somebody got
[8:50] Speaker 1: like a nipple ring and we would be surprised to
[8:52] Speaker 1: find out that they got it, right? Or people who,
[8:58] Speaker 1: like how Kevin Durant has all those tattoos, but you
[9:01] Speaker 1: can't really see none of them. Right? Like, and I
[9:05] Speaker 1: have met somebody, shall we say, with the exact same setup.
[9:09] Speaker 1: You'd have no idea what kind of party it is
[9:11] Speaker 1: until the party actually begins, right? So somebody out there
[9:16] Speaker 1: got like a nipple ring and or more. Bro. That
[9:21] Speaker 1: we had not considered, had never known.
[9:24] Speaker 2: And when you say more.
[9:25] Speaker 1: And this has been, I mean, more. Like a lot more.
[9:29] Speaker 2: That could be anything.
[9:32] Speaker 1: Todo es posible, mi amigo. Todo es posible.
[9:41] Speaker 2: I'm telling you, man.
[9:42] Speaker 1: Like, think about that. Every time you see a politician, man,
[9:44] Speaker 1: they might have a nipple ring.
[9:46] Speaker 2: That's wild. Or more. Think about it. Think about you, like,
[9:50] Speaker 2: Clarence Thomas having a Prince Albert. I know you didn't
[9:55] Speaker 2: want to think about that. I know you didn't want
[9:57] Speaker 2: to think about that. I'm sorry, America. I'm sorry, the internet.
[10:00] Speaker 2: for putting that image in your brain. You know what
[10:03] Speaker 2: I'm saying?
[10:04] Speaker 1: Well, the issue is not me thinking about it. It
[10:08] Speaker 1: is the invariable text that I know I'm going to
[10:10] Speaker 1: receive from my mother that says, what is a Prince
[10:13] Speaker 1: Albert question mark? Which I think I just guaranteed she
[10:16] Speaker 1: would send to me now that I've actually brought it up.
[10:19] Speaker 1: But that's still 100% on the board. And I'm going
[10:22] Speaker 1: to put her on a... No, I can't let you
[10:24] Speaker 1: tell her because you will. in capital letters, nevermind. I
[10:27] Speaker 1: was gonna like outsource that to you to give that explanation,
[10:30] Speaker 1: but actually, no, I can't allow that to happen at all.
[10:33] Speaker 2: That might ruin the holidays for you, Bo. I'm not
[10:36] Speaker 2: trying to do that to you.
[10:40] Speaker 1: I'm in a terrible place right now. I'm in such
[10:43] Speaker 1: a terrible place. It's a dark mental place. Oh, my God.
[10:48] Speaker 1: Here's what we need to talk about, though. And this
[10:50] Speaker 1: is the thing. And if you have not followed the
[10:52] Speaker 1: mayor's race, have you followed anything the last four years
[10:56] Speaker 1: of the Eric Adams era? And I need to ask
[10:58] Speaker 1: you about this because Eric Adams once was trying to
[11:01] Speaker 1: get out of some trouble. And the quote he gave
[11:03] Speaker 1: was make sure the Dominicans know that Eric Adams is
[11:06] Speaker 1: the only mayor to ever hang out at the clubs
[11:08] Speaker 1: on Dykeman. And I was like, oh, man, this is
[11:10] Speaker 1: like he really made hanging out at spots that me
[11:14] Speaker 1: and you might not go to. That was part of
[11:16] Speaker 1: his mayoral strategy.
[11:18] Speaker 2: Fam, when I seen him smoking hookah with rappers, I said,
[11:22] Speaker 2: we are cooked. We are, this is over. It is over, over. Like,
[11:29] Speaker 2: when he got elected, I was like, yo, y'all elected
[11:31] Speaker 2: a party promoter to run the city. Good luck. Let's
[11:35] Speaker 2: see how these next four years turn out. Ladies free
[11:37] Speaker 2: before 11 at the Social Security office. Like, what is
[11:41] Speaker 2: going on? This dude was a, he was a walking meme.
[11:45] Speaker 2: Every city was the New York of that country. Yo,
[11:49] Speaker 2: it was crazy. He had like five catchphrases. He hung
[11:53] Speaker 2: out with Jim Jones. I'm like, yo, listen. I love
[11:56] Speaker 2: Jim Jones. That's my guy. I don't want my man
[11:59] Speaker 2: hanging out with Jim Jones. You know what I'm saying?
[12:03] Speaker 2: There might be some bad influences going on there. You
[12:05] Speaker 2: know what I'm saying? Well, I want to say this.
[12:08] Speaker 1: In fairness to Adams on the... Blank is the New
[12:13] Speaker 1: York of blank that he did everywhere. This is very
[12:17] Speaker 1: similar to how Instagram make it to where people got
[12:19] Speaker 1: to spend way too much money on clothes. because once
[12:22] Speaker 1: it go on Instagram, it is there forever, and now
[12:26] Speaker 1: you can't wear this anywhere else, right? That's what happened
[12:29] Speaker 1: to him with this. We didn't always have access to
[12:32] Speaker 1: all this video that you could run it in a line,
[12:35] Speaker 1: and you could just spit that line over and over again,
[12:38] Speaker 1: and it would be okay, right?
[12:40] Speaker 2: It kind of hit.
[12:41] Speaker 1: Once people were able to chop that up, that's like
[12:44] Speaker 1: Kamala Harris had that one line, something about being unburdened,
[12:47] Speaker 1: and they found out that she had been saying that
[12:49] Speaker 1: all the time. Hey, man, if you got a line
[12:51] Speaker 1: that works, You got to lie networks. I've seen Dave
[12:53] Speaker 1: Chappelle live three or four times. And I think every
[12:56] Speaker 1: time I've seen him live, he has told the same
[12:59] Speaker 1: joke where somebody made reference to a little something, shall
[13:03] Speaker 1: we say, and asked him to describe, you know, to
[13:06] Speaker 1: describe it. And it was referred to as it's delicious.
[13:10] Speaker 1: And he was like, hey, that's not a way that
[13:12] Speaker 1: I imagine somebody would describe that thing. He's told it
[13:15] Speaker 1: every show I've seen him do it all over the
[13:17] Speaker 1: course of 20 years. It was funny every time. Like
[13:20] Speaker 1: sometimes you get a line and it works, baby.
[13:22] Speaker 2: That's it. You know, the only problem is that now
[13:24] Speaker 2: we got the internet and we got video, digital video,
[13:27] Speaker 2: and we got a lot of people that have editing
[13:29] Speaker 2: skills and can make these things that we in the
[13:31] Speaker 2: media industry call super cuts. You know what I'm saying?
[13:34] Speaker 2: Of you saying the same thing over and over and
[13:36] Speaker 2: over again. And then you become a living meme.
[13:40] Speaker 1: Yeah, but I'm going to say this, and I feel
[13:42] Speaker 1: like you and I can both say this because we've
[13:43] Speaker 1: been working in this business for a while, man. I
[13:46] Speaker 1: feel like the people that be making them cuts is
[13:47] Speaker 1: people that ain't never had to come up with a
[13:49] Speaker 1: good line before. Like, it ain't that easy, guys, right? Like,
[13:53] Speaker 1: I think there's got to be somebody that's like a
[13:56] Speaker 1: super cut guy that's like, nah, man, I know what
[13:57] Speaker 1: they was going through. I can't even participate in this.
[14:01] Speaker 2: I'm out. You don't know what it takes to come
[14:04] Speaker 2: up with Islamabad is the New York of Islamabad.
[14:07] Speaker 1: Like, you say.
[14:09] Speaker 1: Yeah, you say something funny, right? Like, that's what he's saying.
[14:12] Speaker 1: You come up with something to make these people feel good, right? Like,
[14:16] Speaker 1: what y'all got?
[14:17] Speaker 2: That's his opening joke. You got to let him have it.
[14:22] Speaker 1: Got to let him have it. He was amazing. We
[14:25] Speaker 1: also had the thing happen very recently where a woman
[14:28] Speaker 1: put out a book that basically, I mean, it's hard
[14:33] Speaker 1: times out here where you can get a book deal
[14:34] Speaker 1: because you used to sleep with Eric Adams. which was
[14:36] Speaker 1: the whole way that this woman got the book. But
[14:39] Speaker 1: the thing was, it didn't make Eric Adams look bad.
[14:43] Speaker 1: It actually made Eric Adams look good because she was
[14:45] Speaker 1: kind of fine. And everybody saw that and was kind
[14:48] Speaker 1: of like, damn, even Eric Adams, huh?
[14:51] Speaker 2: Bro, it was an absolute glaze fest, bro. I skimmed
[14:55] Speaker 2: that shit and I was like, wow, Shorty's just glazing, homie.
[14:59] Speaker 2: But you know, everybody trying to come up, get a bag,
[15:01] Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying? I did a little digging myself.
[15:03] Speaker 2: Shorty used to sing background vocals for Stag Elite. So,
[15:08] Speaker 2: you know, if you're singing vocals, background vocals with Stagg
[15:11] Speaker 2: and Lee, man, then, you know, you got other, you
[15:13] Speaker 2: got bigger problems. So you're just trying to secure the bag, man.
[15:15] Speaker 2: So you'll do anything.
[15:18] Speaker 1: Hey, look, man, I saw how Eric Adams got to
[15:20] Speaker 1: be the mayor. Eric Adams, in that book, that woman said,
[15:22] Speaker 1: Eric Adams looked at her and said, I'm going to
[15:25] Speaker 1: be the mayor and I don't want to do it
[15:27] Speaker 1: without you. She said they wasn't even doing the thing
[15:30] Speaker 1: no more. And she signed up on that.
[15:32] Speaker 2: Well, you know, I'll throw a flag on the play.
[15:34] Speaker 2: I'll call cap. You know, whatever you want to do.
[15:37] Speaker 2: Because the way Eric Adams has been moving, he moves
[15:39] Speaker 2: like a dude that's like, yo, you know what I'm saying?
[15:42] Speaker 2: I'm not claiming you. We're not doing nothing public until
[15:45] Speaker 2: I see what that thing's more like. You know what
[15:47] Speaker 2: I'm saying?
[15:50] Speaker 1: Well, no, he knew that, and then apparently they stopped.
[15:53] Speaker 1: I think the surprise in this one is that Eric
[15:57] Speaker 1: Adams is someone who actually can abide by sure we'll
[15:59] Speaker 1: just be friends. That is not behavior that I would
[16:03] Speaker 1: expect from Eric Adams.
[16:05] Speaker 2: Well, no. He is not doing that in the least, bro.
[16:10] Speaker 2: He is like, listen, again, he's a club promoter. And
[16:13] Speaker 2: you know what club promoters are trying to do? Give
[16:15] Speaker 2: the pretty girl extra drink tickets. You know what I'm saying?
[16:18] Speaker 2: Butter her up. You know what I mean? Finesse it.
[16:21] Speaker 2: Get some like, you know, liquid lubrication poppin'..
[16:26] Speaker 1: It makes sense. Did we find out that he was
[16:30] Speaker 1: like down at Far Rockaway? For people who don't know,
[16:32] Speaker 1: Far Rockaway is far. That is the best way to
[16:35] Speaker 1: describe Far Rockaway.
[16:36] Speaker 2: It's in the name.
[16:37] Speaker 1: I can get to my house, I can get from
[16:40] Speaker 1: my house to Philly faster than you can get from
[16:42] Speaker 1: where Mero grew up to Far Rockaway and it's all
[16:44] Speaker 1: in the same city, right?
[16:45] Speaker 2: That's a fact, bro.
[16:46] Speaker 1: But he was like, yeah, I used to have a...
[16:48] Speaker 1: He's like, yo, I used to have a shorty down here.
[16:50] Speaker 1: And then we looked it up. Nope, it looks like
[16:52] Speaker 1: Eric Adams did. In fact, like Eric Adams is that
[16:54] Speaker 1: dude that you can't believe nothing he says except the
[16:56] Speaker 1: one time you check into it, he did do the
[16:59] Speaker 1: thing he said.
[17:01] Speaker 2: So then it fucks you up and you're like, yo,
[17:02] Speaker 2: wait a minute. What about the other stuff? Could it
[17:05] Speaker 2: possibly be true? Was he really on tour with Jay-Z
[17:09] Speaker 2: and Memphis Bleak in 2002? Like, you know what I mean? Like,
[17:13] Speaker 2: you never know.
[17:16] Speaker 1: That's the one danger about checking somebody you know who
[17:19] Speaker 1: be lying. You got to make sure you get them
[17:22] Speaker 1: on that lie.
[17:25] Speaker 2: Or else, you know, you got a Fat Joe situation
[17:27] Speaker 2: on your hands where it's just like, yo, the story
[17:28] Speaker 2: sound ridiculous, but then you got other people confirming it.
[17:32] Speaker 1: Yeah, you never know. You never know, right? And once
[17:35] Speaker 1: that person, Trump has the same thing too. Trump mess
[17:39] Speaker 1: around and tell you some wild shit and then the
[17:40] Speaker 1: next thing you know, it's kind of like when it
[17:42] Speaker 1: turned out that Joe Biden did know a dude named
[17:44] Speaker 1: Corn Pop. Like, Corp Pop really was something. After that, man,
[17:49] Speaker 1: we had to listen to whatever Joe Biden said.
[17:50] Speaker 2: Yeah, you had to listen to all that malarkey.
[17:52] Speaker 1: We thought you made it up. Yeah, yeah, that's exactly it.
[17:56] Speaker 1: We thought it was malarkey. In fact, it was the
[17:59] Speaker 1: real McCoy.
[18:01] Speaker 2: Corp Pop is vindicated. Yes, yes.
[18:06] Speaker 1: Now, there's something else going on with this mayor's race.
[18:08] Speaker 1: For those of you who don't know, and this becomes
[18:10] Speaker 1: very interesting, is that Eric Adams is the mayor and
[18:14] Speaker 1: he ran as he was a Democrat, but he wasn't
[18:16] Speaker 1: running as a Democrat because he was under indictment. He
[18:18] Speaker 1: got himself out from under indictment because he agreed to
[18:20] Speaker 1: do Trump's bidding on the immigration stuff. So Cuomo, who
[18:26] Speaker 1: was the governor and left in disgrace, he ran against
[18:29] Speaker 1: Mom Donnie in the Democratic primary. And the expectation was
[18:32] Speaker 1: very similar to Barack Obama in 08. We're like, oh,
[18:35] Speaker 1: come on, man. There's no way that this can go.
[18:37] Speaker 1: Except Mondani smoked Cuomo. Right. We thought and you knew
[18:41] Speaker 1: it was bad because, look, black people, we try not
[18:44] Speaker 1: to vote for losers. And Cuomo was expected to win
[18:48] Speaker 1: the black vote. Nope, didn't happen. Black people was voting
[18:50] Speaker 1: for Mondani, too, because Mondani has this fascinating approach where
[18:54] Speaker 1: he's just like, guys, you ever notice that shit costs
[18:56] Speaker 1: way too much money? Isn't that wild? Yeah, vote for me.
[19:00] Speaker 1: And we was like, hell yeah, we gonna vote for you.
[19:03] Speaker 1: And so now it's the general election. Cuomo is running
[19:07] Speaker 1: as an independent and is another dude named Curtis Sliwa,
[19:11] Speaker 1: who used to be homeboy that ran the Guardian Angels.
[19:15] Speaker 1: So he'll be out here with a beret on and
[19:17] Speaker 1: he's running for the Republican nomination. And it's worth noting
[19:21] Speaker 1: that Curtis Sliwa is really hates Andrew Cuomo, right? Now,
[19:26] Speaker 1: you may be asking yourself, why is a Democrat running
[19:30] Speaker 1: against a Democrat? Because it has turned into a handicap match.
[19:36] Speaker 1: Everybody is trying to make sure that Zoran don't get
[19:40] Speaker 1: out of here. The big money don't like Zoran. The
[19:43] Speaker 1: landlords don't like Zoran. People who are decidedly pro-Israel, they
[19:47] Speaker 1: are not big fans of Zoran. Everybody is coming at Zoran.
[19:52] Speaker 1: But the two dudes that are running against Zoran, the
[19:54] Speaker 1: problem is Curtis Sliwa really hates Andrew Cuomo more than
[19:58] Speaker 1: he hates anything else in this world. And I think
[20:00] Speaker 1: that's the only thing that keeps him up in the
[20:02] Speaker 1: morning is taking shots at Andrew Cuomo.
[20:04] Speaker 2: And I'll tell you one thing, bro. This is not
[20:07] Speaker 2: even a hot take. This is a lukewarm take. This
[20:09] Speaker 2: is actually probably true. You know what I mean? I
[20:12] Speaker 2: can say this with no facts or anything. It's my opinion,
[20:16] Speaker 2: which is a fact. If Curtis Lewa was not a
[20:19] Speaker 2: Republican on the Republican ticket, I think him and Zoran
[20:22] Speaker 2: would get along. You know what I'm saying? Because Curtis Lewa,
[20:26] Speaker 2: even though he's a Pixar character of, you know, New
[20:29] Speaker 2: York City, the Disney movie, you know what I mean? Like, he...
[20:33] Speaker 2: When they asked, the perfect example to me was in
[20:36] Speaker 2: the debate. When they asked the question, have you ever
[20:38] Speaker 2: gotten anything from a legal dispensary? And Mamdani was like, yes,
[20:43] Speaker 2: I have purchased marijuana at a legal dispensary. And Curtis
[20:46] Speaker 2: Lee was like, I got shot five times and I
[20:48] Speaker 2: used marijuana to cure my pains. So yes. And Cuomo
[20:53] Speaker 2: was just like, nah. You know what I mean? So
[20:56] Speaker 2: I'm just like, one of these things is not like
[20:58] Speaker 2: the other. You know what I'm saying? I think Sliwa
[21:02] Speaker 2: and Zoran and the Cypher, they could get some things done. Yo,
[21:09] Speaker 2: real talk.
[21:10] Speaker 1: Curtis Sliwa is... It's a somewhat Texas archetype, but I
[21:15] Speaker 1: like my white guys white. You know what I'm saying?
[21:18] Speaker 1: You don't need to be pretending like we got more
[21:20] Speaker 1: in common than we actually do. Curtis Sliwa, I don't
[21:22] Speaker 1: want to talk to him about everything, but I think
[21:25] Speaker 1: I'd have a great time talking to him about everything else.
[21:28] Speaker 1: My favorite part is... It's the guy with the beret
[21:32] Speaker 1: that's the Republican and the dude in the nice suit
[21:34] Speaker 1: that's the socialist. Is that what you're telling me here?
[21:37] Speaker 1: Because if I told you somebody over there is a socialist,
[21:39] Speaker 1: you're picking a dude in the funny hat.
[21:41] Speaker 2: And a raspberry beret. Of course.
[21:44] Speaker 1: Yes. This is really a thing. It's the dude in
[21:50] Speaker 1: the beret, but he's not trying to take my daddy out. No,
[21:54] Speaker 1: he wants to get Cuomo every time. When he said
[21:56] Speaker 1: about Cuomo that Cuomo is slapping fannies and killing grannies.
[22:01] Speaker 1: Cuomo got put out for some sexual harassment and we
[22:04] Speaker 1: found out a lot of old people died during the
[22:07] Speaker 1: pandemic in the nursing homes and Cuomo hid it from us.
[22:09] Speaker 1: And so Curtis Lee has been on his ass.
[22:14] Speaker 2: Fat curtis lee would need to go on joe and jada.
[22:15] Speaker 1: Honestly how have none of them tried to like it
[22:22] Speaker 1: would just be amazing just like 45 minutes of him
[22:25] Speaker 1: talking to fat joe i'll watch i swear i'll watch.
[22:29] Speaker 2: I'll watch i'll start a network on that premise.
[22:34] Speaker 1: Like this is what it is until the issue is.
[22:37] Speaker 2: Going to be.
[22:42] Speaker 1: But yo we we know zoron's probably gonna win brother
[22:45] Speaker 1: they about to be they gonna be on him like
[22:48] Speaker 1: his name really his middle name is kwame he was
[22:50] Speaker 1: born in uganda but they gonna be on him like
[22:53] Speaker 1: you know like he kwame brown like it's about it's
[22:56] Speaker 1: about to be relentless coming.
[22:59] Speaker 2: In like you said man before i have never seen
[23:02] Speaker 2: this level of like fear from like the establishment you
[23:06] Speaker 2: know what i'm saying like you know, career politicians, billionaires,
[23:11] Speaker 2: you know what I mean? All these rich people, boomers,
[23:14] Speaker 2: you name it. Fear mongerers, you know what I'm saying?
[23:16] Speaker 2: Et cetera, et cetera. I'm like, bro, this dude went
[23:19] Speaker 2: to Bronx science. Do y'all know what the, like, fam,
[23:23] Speaker 2: like this kid is a New York city kid. Like,
[23:24] Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying? So like, it just, it
[23:28] Speaker 2: baffles my mind, bro. Because another thing is this guy's
[23:31] Speaker 2: running to be mayor of New York city and he's
[23:33] Speaker 2: very focused on New York city. Like, he's, like, you
[23:37] Speaker 2: know what I mean? He's getting very granular with the
[23:39] Speaker 2: New York City shit. He don't care. He's not tripping
[23:41] Speaker 2: about geopolitics and nothing like that. They keep asking him
[23:43] Speaker 2: about it. But he's, and he keeps replying, hey, hey, man,
[23:47] Speaker 2: I'm running to be mayor of New York City. That's
[23:50] Speaker 2: my focus. New York City. And making it affordable for
[23:53] Speaker 2: New Yorkers. You know what I'm saying? I left New
[23:55] Speaker 2: York City when they stopped doing free UPK. I got free,
[23:57] Speaker 2: I got four kids, bro. Like, you know what I'm saying?
[24:00] Speaker 2: I was like, I can't afford to send all the
[24:02] Speaker 2: other daycare while your mom goes to work and I
[24:04] Speaker 2: go to work. That's crazy. So what are we going
[24:06] Speaker 2: to do? I was like, I guess I got to go.
[24:08] Speaker 2: And I helped them move. So, you know, there's a
[24:10] Speaker 2: lot of things, man, like, like I call my, like
[24:12] Speaker 2: I'm a single issue voter, like I'm not a single
[24:14] Speaker 2: issue voter, but like there's a lot of people that
[24:15] Speaker 2: are single issue voters. And for me, the most important
[24:18] Speaker 2: thing is childcare, UPK, you know what I mean? Like
[24:22] Speaker 2: the buses is nice. Everything else is nice. But really
[24:25] Speaker 2: it's really about giving, you know, New Yorkers the opportunity
[24:29] Speaker 2: to go out and work and not have to worry about,
[24:30] Speaker 2: Hey man, I got to spend 20 bays a year
[24:32] Speaker 2: on daycare. And that's sucking up all my money. I
[24:35] Speaker 2: can't save up money. I can't do nothing. I can't...
[24:38] Speaker 2: You know, I'm living hand to mouth. And New Yorkers
[24:41] Speaker 2: are tired of that shit. And them billionaires.
[24:44] Speaker 1: And the billionaires are like, fuck your kids. Yeah, fuck
[24:47] Speaker 1: your kids. That Ackerman guy that Curtis Sliwa also hates. Like,
[24:51] Speaker 1: that's the thing about Sliwa. When he talks, he doesn't
[24:54] Speaker 1: sound like any Republican that I know.
[24:57] Speaker 2: At all.
[24:58] Speaker 1: Sliwa says way too many things where I'm like, no, no, no,
[25:01] Speaker 1: hear the man out. Let the man in the funny
[25:03] Speaker 1: hat finish. But they don't say too much. And it's like,
[25:06] Speaker 1: all right, somebody tell the funny hat.
[25:08] Speaker 2: All right, you crossed the line, champ. You know what
[25:10] Speaker 2: I mean? Like... It's a sleeveless threshold, bro. Sleeveless to
[25:15] Speaker 2: me is like me going to LA. I could be
[25:17] Speaker 2: there for a week and a half, two weeks, and
[25:18] Speaker 2: then I got to get out of there.
[25:23] Speaker 1: But they all, all of the billionaires, all of the landlords,
[25:27] Speaker 1: because my man is trying to freeze the rent or
[25:29] Speaker 1: rent-stabilized places. Let me tell you something. I had a
[25:31] Speaker 1: rent-stabilized apartment for a little while, baby. And let me
[25:34] Speaker 1: tell you what they don't be trying to do. Put
[25:35] Speaker 1: no money into that motherfucker. That's the only thing about it.
[25:38] Speaker 1: They going to get you back. They going to get
[25:40] Speaker 1: you back on that one. They like, ain't no profit.
[25:42] Speaker 1: in this situation um but like everything he says to
[25:46] Speaker 1: me yo everything he says to me sounds like it
[25:49] Speaker 1: seems like a pretty good idea hey maybe that won't
[25:51] Speaker 1: work but it seems worth a try terror i was
[25:54] Speaker 1: talking to somebody on the phone the other day who
[25:56] Speaker 1: don't even live here and he was petrified at the
[25:59] Speaker 1: prospect of zoron winning i.
[26:02] Speaker 2: Don't understand it i'm like listen man like look There's
[26:05] Speaker 2: a lot of things that he's proposing. Like you said,
[26:08] Speaker 2: they might work, they might not. But what have we
[26:11] Speaker 2: been doing for the last, you know what I mean,
[26:13] Speaker 2: eight years? Like, bullshit. Yeah. So, you know, and look
[26:17] Speaker 2: at where we're at. So, you know, might as well
[26:19] Speaker 2: try something new. I know Cuomo's not going to do
[26:21] Speaker 2: anything new.
[26:21] Speaker 1: Well, that's my thing. Y'all wasn't scared of Eric Adams? Like,
[26:27] Speaker 1: it is amazing that, like, you think you can survive
[26:29] Speaker 1: Eric Adams, right? But you don't think you can survive
[26:34] Speaker 1: the homies O-Rod. That's what's kind of wild to me.
[26:37] Speaker 2: That is super bugged out. I think, you know what
[26:39] Speaker 2: it is? I think it's older. It's funny because it's, like,
[26:42] Speaker 2: older people, a lot of older people that are, like,
[26:45] Speaker 2: doing all this, like, fear-mongering and all this other bullshit.
[26:48] Speaker 2: And it's trippy to me because I'm like, man, Aren't
[26:52] Speaker 2: y'all like the hippies? Aren't y'all like the generation of like, yo,
[26:55] Speaker 2: make love, not war. Like, blah, blah, blah. I'm like,
[26:58] Speaker 2: all right, I guess all that shit went out the
[26:59] Speaker 2: window as soon as you saw your social security check
[27:01] Speaker 2: was weak. You know what I mean? And that ain't
[27:03] Speaker 2: his fault.
[27:04] Speaker 1: This is right.
[27:07] Speaker 2: Boomer's got to figure shit out.
[27:08] Speaker 1: Well, I'll tell you this. I got one more point
[27:11] Speaker 1: I'm going to make on this. We're going to take
[27:13] Speaker 1: a moment. But coming up next, I'm going to make
[27:15] Speaker 1: one more point that I do think needs to be
[27:17] Speaker 1: made when it comes to Eric Adams. All right, back
[27:20] Speaker 1: with the Kid Mero. And all these jokes we got
[27:23] Speaker 1: about Eric Adams, I do think we need to stop
[27:25] Speaker 1: and take a moment because I would love to direct
[27:27] Speaker 1: the Eric Adams documentary. The fact that it happened at all.
[27:30] Speaker 1: It is amazing that this particular man got to where
[27:36] Speaker 1: he has been and almost went to jail. They accused
[27:40] Speaker 1: his aides of passing bribes in a Funyuns bag or
[27:45] Speaker 1: whatever kind of chips it was that was in the bag.
[27:48] Speaker 1: And he beat the rap and he is going to
[27:50] Speaker 1: walk out of the mayor's office not in handcuffs.
[27:54] Speaker 2: Amazing um bro amazing doing all the the goofiest corruption
[28:00] Speaker 2: scandal in the history of government this man going to
[28:03] Speaker 2: turkey and getting first class flights i don't know if
[28:06] Speaker 2: he went there to get his veneers done or what
[28:09] Speaker 2: but not even like y'all make like a billion dollar
[28:13] Speaker 2: stock trading insider trading nothing like that bro i flew
[28:16] Speaker 2: to turkey and i got special treatment like dog what
[28:20] Speaker 2: the fuck and like Fair. Homie was just the literal devil.
[28:25] Speaker 2: He was like Kingpin. You know what I'm saying? For Spider-Man.
[28:28] Speaker 2: Kingpin for Spider-Man became mayor of New York City and
[28:30] Speaker 2: went on Ozempic.
[28:31] Speaker 1: Hold up.
[28:32] Speaker 2: That's Eric Adams.
[28:33] Speaker 1: What if he had come back from Turkey with a
[28:36] Speaker 1: full head of hair?
[28:38] Speaker 2: I was expecting that, Bo. When I saw that he
[28:41] Speaker 2: did not, I was disappointed. I was disappointed. I was like, yo,
[28:45] Speaker 2: my man, you pushing the boundaries of the mayoral office
[28:50] Speaker 2: in every direction except this one? You can't go get
[28:53] Speaker 2: the Nori? Dark Caesar, bro? Like, Nori did it. Why
[28:56] Speaker 2: can't you do it? You hang out with rappers all
[28:58] Speaker 2: the time. They not giving you, they gatekeeping the doctors
[29:01] Speaker 2: for you? Yes.
[29:02] Speaker 1: I'm going to tell you this, though. I'm going to
[29:04] Speaker 1: tell you the one person who need to be mad, though,
[29:07] Speaker 1: at Zoran. And I know he probably talks to people
[29:12] Speaker 1: about this all the time. They be like, yeah, I know.
[29:14] Speaker 2: You right. You right.
[29:16] Speaker 1: And that is our man. You remember Jimmy Mac? Jimmy
[29:19] Speaker 1: Mac Miller? The rent is too damn high?
[29:23] Speaker 2: Yeah. He been saying it. Yo, man.
[29:27] Speaker 1: Zobrod beat his whole steez, man. Bernie Sanders beat his
[29:30] Speaker 1: whole steez. AOC beat his whole steez. He had it.
[29:34] Speaker 1: Very simple. One issue. The rent is too damn high.
[29:38] Speaker 1: Hell yeah, the rent too damn high. you got this
[29:41] Speaker 1: and they call.
[29:41] Speaker 2: Him crazy see he ran he walks so Zoran can
[29:45] Speaker 2: run you know what I'm saying so shout out to
[29:47] Speaker 2: Jimmy god damn it because he was and I think
[29:49] Speaker 2: I feel like if it wasn't for the facial hair
[29:52] Speaker 2: he might have had a shot.
[29:55] Speaker 1: I was just about to say the least that Zoran
[29:57] Speaker 1: could do to show that man some love is to
[29:59] Speaker 1: pay some homage and go ahead and grow it. Grow
[30:04] Speaker 1: that crazy facial hair, man. You got to get this
[30:08] Speaker 1: man some kind of props, man. You got to at
[30:10] Speaker 1: least bring him out at the victory party.
[30:12] Speaker 2: It's like he....
[30:16] Speaker 1: Yo, Jimmy is like Fonte to Drake. You know what
[30:19] Speaker 1: I'm saying? It's a lot of y'all that don't really
[30:21] Speaker 1: know what's really going on, but those of us who
[30:23] Speaker 1: know the real, we can see the straight line that
[30:25] Speaker 1: was drawn.
[30:26] Speaker 2: Right. You see the through line from Jimmy to Zora.
[30:31] Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Yes, yes.
[30:34] Speaker 1: Yo, this tell you a lot about America, that more
[30:36] Speaker 1: people don't simply run on, yo, man, these prices is crazy, right? Like,
[30:43] Speaker 1: who's saying no to that approach? Like, who is the
[30:45] Speaker 1: person that hears that and is like, no, actually, I
[30:47] Speaker 1: think they're pretty reasonable.
[30:48] Speaker 2: They're pretty good.
[30:49] Speaker 1: Even rich people are like, yeah, them prices aren't high, man.
[30:51] Speaker 2: Thank you. That's the craziest shit to me, bro. It's like, yo,
[30:54] Speaker 2: my man is running on a campaign. He hasn't said
[30:57] Speaker 2: shit except the word affordability 80, 100,000 times. And everybody
[31:03] Speaker 2: who's living in the city and is like, damn, you're right.
[31:05] Speaker 2: This shit is wild and affordable. I just paid $ 12.
[31:09] Speaker 2: for jail commissary instant oatmeal. This is crazy. This has
[31:12] Speaker 2: to stop. My rent is $ 8, 000 a month. I live
[31:16] Speaker 2: in a two-bedroom that I share with a rodent that
[31:21] Speaker 2: I can't identify. You know what I'm saying? And, like,
[31:24] Speaker 2: this is out of control. We got to stop this.
[31:26] Speaker 2: So somebody saying that and people being like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
[31:29] Speaker 2: take it easy there, buddy, is crazy to me. I
[31:32] Speaker 2: feel like I'm in Zoolander, bro. Like, am I taking
[31:34] Speaker 2: crazy pills? Like, y'all want the rent to be higher?
[31:38] Speaker 2: I was like, I know one thing. Eric Adams on
[31:40] Speaker 2: his way out bumped the rent up. He bumped the
[31:42] Speaker 2: rent one last time for motherfuckers on his way out.
[31:45] Speaker 2: And I was just like, God damn, bro. Thank you
[31:47] Speaker 2: for the parting gift, you bitch. Now I got to
[31:49] Speaker 2: pay an extra 500 for the studio.
[31:50] Speaker 1: Yo, man. Yo, because part of it is you kind
[31:53] Speaker 1: of get yourself to a place living here where you
[31:55] Speaker 1: just don't think about how much it costs, right? It's
[31:57] Speaker 1: not going to help. Like if it's something that you
[31:59] Speaker 1: got to buy, you just kind of go ahead and
[32:01] Speaker 1: buy it. But every now and then something happens and
[32:03] Speaker 1: you look at the number and you're like, what's really
[32:05] Speaker 1: going on, right? Man, I ordered some Indian food the
[32:08] Speaker 1: other night, some curry chicken and some naan. It was
[32:14] Speaker 1: 40 bucks.
[32:15] Speaker 2: Dog!
[32:16] Speaker 1: Now, granted, that's the fee game, right? There's a lot of,
[32:21] Speaker 1: but the bottom line is, and by the time I
[32:24] Speaker 1: saw it, I was like, fuck, man, I've already decided
[32:26] Speaker 1: that this is what I'm about to do. 40 bucks.
[32:30] Speaker 1: What are you talking about here?
[32:32] Speaker 2: Fam, and this is ethnic food. People fuck with ethnic
[32:35] Speaker 2: food because it's, by and large, affordable. You know what
[32:39] Speaker 2: I'm saying? It's made by immigrants for their communities. You
[32:44] Speaker 2: know what I'm saying? And other people. New York is
[32:45] Speaker 2: a melting pot. We know that. We love it. But goddamn, bro,
[32:48] Speaker 2: if I'm going to the Dominican spot and the lunch
[32:50] Speaker 2: used to be $ 5 and now it's $ 25 because you
[32:53] Speaker 2: added fees and this and that and boom, bang, bing,
[32:56] Speaker 2: and you beat me over the head. Like you said, man, like, listen,
[32:59] Speaker 2: these are all things that we used to not really
[33:01] Speaker 2: pay attention to until you get that alert from Bank
[33:04] Speaker 2: of America that's like, hey, your account is overdrawn by $ 283.
[33:06] Speaker 2: What would you like to do?
[33:09] Speaker 1: Right. It's going to be wild. Zoran's going to let
[33:12] Speaker 1: everybody down because, look, man, he's going to be fighting.
[33:14] Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? He's going to let you
[33:16] Speaker 1: down because guys like him will always let you down
[33:19] Speaker 1: because you've got to be somewhat realistic about what is
[33:21] Speaker 1: possible once you get into the space. It's not going
[33:23] Speaker 1: to be he's a bad guy. He already had to
[33:24] Speaker 1: keep the current police commissioner. The people that's worried about
[33:27] Speaker 1: him talking about defund the police, Zoran ain't stupid. You
[33:31] Speaker 1: know that don't work no more. Somebody has let him know, like, hey, man,
[33:35] Speaker 1: you might want to start getting cool with the police.
[33:37] Speaker 2: Like, ow-nay. You know what I'm saying? And that's the thing, too. Like,
[33:42] Speaker 2: he understands, like, the game, right? Like, he understands politics.
[33:45] Speaker 2: He understands what you need to do to get into office.
[33:49] Speaker 2: You know what I mean? And, like, hey, try it, bro.
[33:52] Speaker 2: Try everything that you're proposing. If one out of three
[33:57] Speaker 2: of them things works, we good.
[34:01] Speaker 3: Yes.
[34:02] Speaker 1: Speaking of the game, I hadn't really been paying so
[34:06] Speaker 1: much attention so far, but the New York Knicks have
[34:08] Speaker 1: started off 2-2. Are you ready to fire Mike Brown yet, Mero?
[34:11] Speaker 1: Are you guys getting a little antsy over there? I
[34:14] Speaker 1: hear y'all supposed to win the championship this year.
[34:16] Speaker 2: Nah, man. I'm not getting antsy at all, man. It's
[34:18] Speaker 2: not even December yet, man. Like, we ain't even... Come on, man. Like, listen,
[34:25] Speaker 2: we went from complaining. The Knicks fans, I love y'all,
[34:28] Speaker 2: but some of y'all got to relax because we went
[34:31] Speaker 2: from complaining that Tibbs only played six motherfuckers to now, yo,
[34:36] Speaker 2: Tyler Kolek minutes, yo, Cat is soft, all this other,
[34:40] Speaker 2: other shit. Yo, Cat's unhappy with what he's doing in
[34:45] Speaker 2: the offense. Man, we four games in, dog. Like, they
[34:48] Speaker 2: figuring shit out. Like- Let them figure it out. You
[34:51] Speaker 2: know what I'm saying? Let this unit play together. Let
[34:53] Speaker 2: that rotation expand. You know what I mean? Like, you're
[34:55] Speaker 2: going from playing six dudes to playing eight, nine, ten guys.
[34:58] Speaker 2: You know, shit's going to change. So you got to
[35:00] Speaker 2: give it time. Give them time to gel. If by
[35:03] Speaker 2: Christmas shit is looking spooky, I will retract every statement
[35:06] Speaker 2: I have said thus far. But God damn it, the
[35:09] Speaker 2: Knicks are fine. Everybody calm down.
[35:14] Speaker 1: Okay. You're going to wait till Christmas that I feel
[35:18] Speaker 1: like is going to turn to Thanksgiving.
[35:23] Speaker 2: I'm pushing up to Thanksgiving, matter of fact. Because we're
[35:25] Speaker 2: not even in November yet. It's Halloween. Happy Halloween, y'all.
[35:28] Speaker 1: I mean, I'm just saying, man, y'all are ready for it.
[35:32] Speaker 1: I want the Knicks to do well because I keep
[35:35] Speaker 1: telling people, man, it really is better here when the
[35:37] Speaker 1: Knicks are doing well, right? The bright side is if
[35:40] Speaker 1: it don't go well, then y'all can get hyped up
[35:41] Speaker 1: about Giannis, and that'll be fun to watch too.
[35:44] Speaker 2: Would you have done that?
[35:47] Speaker 1: Would I have traded for Giannis?
[35:49] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[35:51] Speaker 1: Oh, I'd have found a way. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[35:53] Speaker 2: But if you give up, like if you do the typical,
[35:58] Speaker 2: like the historical Knicks move, right, is to go trade
[36:01] Speaker 2: Jalen Brunson, Carl Towns, and like, you know, throw in
[36:06] Speaker 2: a random guy, OG Ananobi, right, or Mitchell Robinson. Take
[36:10] Speaker 2: these three guys who are basically the cornerstones of this
[36:12] Speaker 2: franchise and give us Giannis. And then Giannis is going
[36:15] Speaker 2: to come over, score 50 a game. You know what
[36:18] Speaker 2: I'm saying? We're going to go 20 and 62. And
[36:22] Speaker 2: then what? He's going to sell a lot of jerseys, though.
[36:28] Speaker 1: So my thing, though, is definitely I keep Jalen Brunson.
[36:35] Speaker 1: I prefer to keep OG.
[36:37] Speaker 2: You know.
[36:39] Speaker 1: Con respeto, mi amigo. Tu hermano Carl. Yo quiero enviarse
[36:50] Speaker 1: en el cambio. You know, you know, you know, Milwaukee's
[36:54] Speaker 1: not doing that. The entire state of Wisconsin would riot
[36:59] Speaker 1: if they did a one to one Giannis.
[37:01] Speaker 2: To cat trade.
[37:14] Speaker 1: Oh God, that would never happen.
[37:16] Speaker 2: That would never happen. And that's the only way that
[37:19] Speaker 2: team could function.
[37:24] Speaker 1: Throw Bridges in there. Y'all going to get mad at
[37:26] Speaker 1: him soon enough. Or are you already mad at him?
[37:28] Speaker 1: He plays a little less physically than you New Yorkers
[37:31] Speaker 1: tend to like.
[37:33] Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not mad at him, though, because like I said,
[37:35] Speaker 2: he's in a rotation that has been expanded. It's not
[37:38] Speaker 2: all about him. And, yo, you know what? New Yorkers,
[37:41] Speaker 2: if you do one thing or two things, if you
[37:44] Speaker 2: have iconic moments in New York sports, people fuck with
[37:47] Speaker 2: you forever. Aaron Boone is the manager of the New
[37:50] Speaker 2: York Yankees right now, not because he has a wealth
[37:52] Speaker 2: of baseball knowledge, because he hit one home run in
[37:56] Speaker 2: the playoffs. One. That mattered. You know what I'm saying?
[38:00] Speaker 2: And he did that, and he rode that wave all
[38:03] Speaker 2: the way to the dugout as the manager. So Mikael
[38:06] Speaker 2: Bridges had two iconic moments against our most hated rival city, Boston,
[38:13] Speaker 2: when he stripped Jason Tatum or Jalen Brown at the
[38:17] Speaker 2: end of both games. He put the clamps on JB,
[38:21] Speaker 2: and then he stripped JT for, you know what I mean,
[38:24] Speaker 2: those two games. And those were iconic Knicks moments. He's good.
[38:29] Speaker 2: He can ride that wave. He's probably going to end
[38:31] Speaker 2: up on the coaching staff in 10 years.
[38:34] Speaker 1: I want to ask you this while we're here. I
[38:36] Speaker 1: haven't heard you and your thoughts on the NBA gambling situation.
[38:40] Speaker 1: I'm curious what you think about that.
[38:42] Speaker 2: Hey, brother, let me tell you something. I was gambling
[38:44] Speaker 2: when you had to call an Italian man and go
[38:46] Speaker 2: to a social club and fill out a paper ticket. Okay? So,
[38:50] Speaker 2: I'll say this much. I saw this coming all the way.
[38:54] Speaker 2: And it's crazy to me because it's It's really just greed, bro.
[38:59] Speaker 2: It's greed. Because I'm like, yo, if you think about it,
[39:01] Speaker 2: I said this shit on Victory Light. Even, like, a
[39:04] Speaker 2: mid-NBA player is making $ 15 million a year, dog. If
[39:11] Speaker 2: you are on an NBA roster, bro, and you score
[39:14] Speaker 2: eight points a game, you fuck around and get $ 15 million.
[39:17] Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? Like, the guys are getting $ 50,
[39:20] Speaker 2: $ 60 million. So it's like, bro, how much money do
[39:23] Speaker 2: you need?
[39:27] Speaker 1: See, I don't see the... The reason I push back
[39:29] Speaker 1: on the greed angle, man, I think what it comes
[39:31] Speaker 1: down to, and this is important, man, Some people just
[39:35] Speaker 1: don't make good decisions, right? And like, I can't relate
[39:38] Speaker 1: to people who make, like, you know people who make
[39:41] Speaker 1: just terrible decisions. I believe that you may have made
[39:44] Speaker 1: a couple of bad ones at some point in your life, right?
[39:46] Speaker 1: Where people are just like, why did you make those
[39:47] Speaker 1: terrible decisions? You don't have an answer for it. You
[39:50] Speaker 1: just did it. Some people never get over it though.
[39:52] Speaker 1: They just make horrific decisions. Like Terry Rozier had to
[39:55] Speaker 1: put his house up for bail and the IRS has
[39:58] Speaker 1: got a lead on his house. That's a man who
[40:01] Speaker 1: made a series of terrible decisions.
[40:06] Speaker 2: And yo, listen, and this is the thing. We got
[40:10] Speaker 2: to do something. I mean, I know the NBA does
[40:12] Speaker 2: something where they teach incoming draftees about financial, fiscal responsibility
[40:18] Speaker 2: and things like that. We got to expand that because
[40:21] Speaker 2: obviously it didn't hit for everybody. Yeah.
[40:25] Speaker 1: But I think that people who make good decisions think
[40:28] Speaker 1: that as long as people know that doing something is
[40:31] Speaker 1: a bad decision, That is enough.
[40:33] Speaker 2: Of a deterrent.
[40:34] Speaker 1: And no, it doesn't work that way.
[40:36] Speaker 2: No. They got to touch the stove. A lot of
[40:39] Speaker 2: motherfuckers got to touch the stove to find out it's hot.
[40:42] Speaker 1: That's exactly it. I didn't know if that adage made
[40:44] Speaker 1: its way up to this part of the country. Got
[40:46] Speaker 1: to touch the stove. Stove hot. Is it really?
[40:50] Speaker 2: Is it really, though? Let me see. Ah, goddamn. Okay,
[40:53] Speaker 2: third degree burn. There you go, your fingerprint.
[40:56] Speaker 1: Like damn you're oh yeah the fingerprint bird is the
[41:00] Speaker 1: that's the one that's that is just to let just
[41:03] Speaker 1: to remind you what a horrific decision that you made
[41:07] Speaker 1: that there is evidence right here whirls and swirls and
[41:12] Speaker 1: swoops to indicate that you made this like horrible terrible
[41:17] Speaker 1: decision like i'm waiting though for us to hear about
[41:20] Speaker 1: Because look, somebody like Terry Rozier, I see how somebody
[41:22] Speaker 1: like that gets caught in the web, right? If we
[41:25] Speaker 1: mess around and hear like a max salary dude caught
[41:28] Speaker 1: in the web, because look, if what they say about
[41:30] Speaker 1: Chauncey Billups is true, he got caught in the web somehow.
[41:33] Speaker 1: He made $ 100 million. And they say he somehow got
[41:36] Speaker 1: caught in the web. By the way, Terry Rozier, higher
[41:38] Speaker 1: career earnings than Chauncey Billups, which has to infuriate somebody
[41:41] Speaker 1: like Chauncey Billups.
[41:42] Speaker 2: But anyway.
[41:43] Speaker 1: Apparently, caught in the web. But let me tell you
[41:47] Speaker 1: something else that's funny. I don't know if you saw this,
[41:49] Speaker 1: but The Athletic wrote a story about Chauncey Billups, and
[41:53] Speaker 1: it was kind of like going through the paperwork to
[41:55] Speaker 1: trace who the people are, and they're like, we can't
[41:56] Speaker 1: figure out how Chauncey Billups got caught up with this
[41:59] Speaker 1: one guy, right? And it's like their families follow each
[42:02] Speaker 1: other on Instagram. It's one of the people listed in
[42:04] Speaker 1: the paperwork. I think he caught one of the charges,
[42:06] Speaker 1: but they missed it. This guy is down with BMF?
[42:11] Speaker 1: and they couldn't understand how would Chauncey know the BMF guys?
[42:15] Speaker 1: And I'm like, that's the Detroit operation. There's going to
[42:18] Speaker 1: be a lot of people traipsing around the edges of this.
[42:21] Speaker 1: That's the first sentence of the wiki entry of BMF
[42:25] Speaker 1: is that it's a Southwest Detroit operation. And somehow this
[42:28] Speaker 1: story didn't think, hey, man, the answer to this might
[42:30] Speaker 1: be in Detroit, because that's Detroit, and Detroit works.
[42:35] Speaker 2: Detroit, and Chauncey was there for a long time, and
[42:38] Speaker 2: there's connections there. Yeah, yeah.
[42:40] Speaker 1: Yeah, but once I saw that this dude was a
[42:43] Speaker 1: BMF cat, I was like, oh, this could get really
[42:47] Speaker 1: weird really fast.
[42:49] Speaker 2: Fam, this story is a motherfucking onion, gang. And I'm
[42:57] Speaker 2: just waiting to see, as the layers peel back, How
[43:01] Speaker 2: many people involved in this shit? Who's going down for this?
[43:04] Speaker 2: What's going to happen? And also, now you got to
[43:07] Speaker 2: look at... Now that this whole thing is kind of
[43:09] Speaker 2: like blown open a little bit, you got to look
[43:11] Speaker 2: at situations that were suspect. You know what I mean?
[43:14] Speaker 2: Like suspect plays. Like, hmm, I wonder why he did that.
[43:18] Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? Like, now I'm looking at
[43:21] Speaker 2: the Andrea Bargnani three you know what I'm saying, against
[43:24] Speaker 2: the Bucs and the Knicks back in the day that
[43:27] Speaker 2: completely baffled Walt Clyde Frazier when he took it. You
[43:30] Speaker 2: know what I'm saying? Now I'm looking at that shit
[43:31] Speaker 2: a little different. Like, hmm, maybe old boy's trying to
[43:34] Speaker 2: cover his spread or something.
[43:36] Speaker 1: Come hang out with me, baby. I've been watching college
[43:38] Speaker 1: basketball for a long time. I know when somebody's fixing
[43:42] Speaker 1: some shit in college basketball. Like, I have moments. I
[43:46] Speaker 1: don't do it as much anymore because college was always
[43:48] Speaker 1: a bit unwieldy because there's so many refs. Like, that's the–
[43:51] Speaker 1: It's refs that I've always watched. It hasn't been players.
[43:54] Speaker 1: It has been refs that I've been watching. But like,
[43:56] Speaker 1: it'll be something I watch and I'm like, look up
[43:58] Speaker 1: the spread. And that spread will be right there, right
[44:02] Speaker 1: there in that number. I was once on TV and
[44:05] Speaker 1: something that looked like it very obviously looked like a fix.
[44:08] Speaker 1: Like it was so strange that a fix would be
[44:10] Speaker 1: the only explanation. And I was doing Jim Rome is burning.
[44:13] Speaker 1: And they came. It got it was over. And then
[44:15] Speaker 1: it basically came to us. And I had no idea
[44:17] Speaker 1: what to do because I could not say what my
[44:20] Speaker 1: only answer of this was is somebody just fix this game.
[44:24] Speaker 2: Yo and that's the thing back then if you said
[44:26] Speaker 2: that people would have been like yo Bo's crazy yo
[44:29] Speaker 2: Bo how could you say this the sanctity of the
[44:31] Speaker 2: league oh my god how dare you and now it's
[44:34] Speaker 2: like hey bro this shit is on my phone like
[44:39] Speaker 2: I got my cousin in the stands telling me to
[44:41] Speaker 2: miss a three you know.
[44:46] Speaker 1: Oh what a time on another day we'll have to
[44:48] Speaker 1: talk about you and the Italian man because um Me
[44:51] Speaker 1: and my buddy Joe were talking about this, that we
[44:53] Speaker 1: didn't really know sports gambling. We just thought that's stuff
[44:56] Speaker 1: that white people did because we didn't know people who
[44:58] Speaker 1: did it. But you New York boys seem to travel
[45:00] Speaker 1: in a different space.
[45:01] Speaker 2: Hey, it's just another hustle, baby.
[45:08] Speaker 1: That is the Kid Mero. Check out the Victory Light podcast.
[45:12] Speaker 1: Check out According to the Kid. Check out 7 p.m.
[45:14] Speaker 1: in Brooklyn. Basically, just Google Mero because he's going to
