Bomani Jones is joined by Dominique Foxworth to talk through one of the wildest stretches of the NFL offseason. They break down Lamar Jackson showing up, what that says about his leverage in Baltimore, and why the Ravens still have to treat him like the franchise. They also get into the Mike Vrabel and Diana Russini news, what to make of that story, and why it blew up across sports media. Plus, they discuss whether Aaron Rodgers makes any sense for the Steelers, what the Browns are doing, some NFL Draft talk, and why athletes seem way less willing to speak on larger issues now than they were a few years ago. [0:09] Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the right time. A wave original.
[0:13] Speaker 1: My name is Beaumont Jones. Thanks for listening wherever you
[0:15] Speaker 1: get your podcast. Thanks for watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like,
[0:19] Speaker 1: rate us, review us, give us five stars. You only
[0:22] Speaker 1: give us four stars. I'm inclined to believe you are
[0:25] Speaker 1: a hater. We got Fosworth on a Thursday. Dominique Fosworth,
[0:29] Speaker 1: what's going on?
[0:31] Speaker 2: Not much. Happy to be back.
[0:32] Speaker 3: I was listening to, I think it was your last show,
[0:35] Speaker 3: and I got a shout-out from my man at the.
[0:38] Speaker 2: End, so I'm here. You asked, and I'm here.
[0:40] Speaker 1: That's right, man. The streets be ready for you, dog.
[0:42] Speaker 1: I got to tell you, I saw you on TV
[0:45] Speaker 1: on Tuesday, and it was really funny. So for people
[0:49] Speaker 1: who don't know what had happened on TV, it's that
[0:51] Speaker 1: time of year where you be kind of having to
[0:53] Speaker 1: make it work when you're producing the TV show. You
[0:55] Speaker 1: know what I mean? So Dominique's on Get Up, and
[0:57] Speaker 1: this is me talking. I understand that part of the
[1:00] Speaker 1: job of morning time ESPN television is hopefully you get
[1:03] Speaker 1: a story that you can use to dictate what's going
[1:06] Speaker 1: down for the rest of the day, right? Like something happened,
[1:09] Speaker 1: you can set the tone and then everybody eats. You know,
[1:13] Speaker 1: like all we need sometimes is one person on ESPN
[1:15] Speaker 1: to say some wild shit. Like not even wild. Dan
[1:18] Speaker 1: Orlovsky is a very big fan of Ty Simpson. Suddenly
[1:20] Speaker 1: we have a counterpoint. The draft gets more interesting and
[1:22] Speaker 1: now we can carry that all the way through so
[1:25] Speaker 1: this time the Ravens were beginning a voluntary OTA which
[1:30] Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson typically cannot bother himself with but it's a
[1:34] Speaker 1: new coach and so the question was ooh Is Lamar
[1:38] Speaker 1: going to show up? What's it going to say? If
[1:40] Speaker 1: Lamar doesn't show up, get up, start at 8 o'clock.
[1:43] Speaker 1: They like, baby, we going to eat all day, man.
[1:45] Speaker 1: It couldn't have been no more than 8.07, 8.08. Here
[1:48] Speaker 1: come Lamar Jackson with his hoodie that say, I love Jesus,
[1:52] Speaker 1: showing up to work.
[1:53] Speaker 3: And suddenly there was a lot less to talk about. Yeah, fortunately,
[1:57] Speaker 3: I wasn't on that morning. I was on the next
[1:59] Speaker 3: morning because there was much made of, like, the prediction
[2:02] Speaker 3: that he wasn't going to show up and, like, the, like–
[2:06] Speaker 3: premature analysis around what it means and he hasn't he's
[2:12] Speaker 3: never really showed up and the funny thing is like
[2:14] Speaker 3: Lamar's in this situation where if he if he doesn't
[2:18] Speaker 3: show up we can do the and by we I
[2:21] Speaker 3: mean the sports media in general play the hits you
[2:24] Speaker 3: know same old same old not committed leadership blah blah
[2:27] Speaker 3: blah doesn't mean he's upset with the organization maybe he'll
[2:31] Speaker 3: never be back if he does show up we go
[2:33] Speaker 3: the other way which admittedly Not as much meat on
[2:37] Speaker 3: the bone.
[2:38] Speaker 2: It'll pop. Not as much meat on the bone.
[2:41] Speaker 3: It appears Lamar Jackson fully believes in this new staff and.
[2:47] Speaker 2: Maybe a contract extension is on the horizon. I don't know.
[2:50] Speaker 3: It does make his contract a lot less interesting because
[2:55] Speaker 3: right now, I was looking at it the other day.
[2:57] Speaker 3: They restructured it, which they had the right to do
[2:59] Speaker 3: without his participation.
[3:01] Speaker 2: But next year, the cap hit went from what it
[3:04] Speaker 2: was supposed to be this year.
[3:05] Speaker 3: Now it's down to 30 next year is 80 plus
[3:07] Speaker 3: million dollars cap hit. He also has a no trade
[3:10] Speaker 3: and a no tag clause. So he looking at this
[3:15] Speaker 3: thing like an NBA superstar, like few NFL players get
[3:18] Speaker 3: a chance to be like either. I like literally I'm
[3:22] Speaker 3: a free agent, not I'm franchise tagged or not. You
[3:25] Speaker 3: can trade me. I could either be a free agent
[3:29] Speaker 3: or you extend.
[3:30] Speaker 1: Yeah. So, uh, this is actually more interesting that I
[3:35] Speaker 1: give it a credit for what you put it in
[3:37] Speaker 1: those charts, because I had seen them running up the
[3:39] Speaker 1: thing about it's no guarantee money in 2027 and all
[3:42] Speaker 1: that stuff. And the question was about whether or not
[3:44] Speaker 1: he would be coming back to the Ravens, which I
[3:46] Speaker 1: thought was being presented as though it was a question
[3:48] Speaker 1: as though whether the Ravens would want him to come back,
[3:51] Speaker 1: which to me would be preposterous. Would you like your
[3:54] Speaker 1: two plus time MVP to come back at quarterback? And
[3:58] Speaker 1: if I have not mistaken, he still isn't 30. Um, Yeah,
[4:03] Speaker 1: I think you go ahead and sign up for that one, dog.
[4:07] Speaker 1: It does become an interesting one on the other side, though,
[4:10] Speaker 1: that clearly Lamar is a dude who appreciates when he's
[4:14] Speaker 1: got some leverage. That's why he ain't never been to
[4:15] Speaker 1: one of these little play play camps that he don't
[4:18] Speaker 1: necessarily have to go to. Like, I'm surprised he showed
[4:20] Speaker 1: up at this one because he doesn't seem to have
[4:23] Speaker 1: anybody in his camp whose job is to be like, hey, man,
[4:25] Speaker 1: just go ahead. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know you ain't
[4:27] Speaker 1: got to do.
[4:28] Speaker 2: It, right?
[4:28] Speaker 1: But it'll probably be good if you just go ahead
[4:31] Speaker 1: and do that. They don't seem to have anybody in
[4:35] Speaker 1: Lamar and Mom LLC whose gig is to just be like, hey,
[4:40] Speaker 1: just don't bone right quick and pull up. But if
[4:44] Speaker 1: he can actually walk after this year, oh man, this
[4:47] Speaker 1: is completely different.
[4:49] Speaker 3: And honestly, if the prognosis if something goes wrong is
[4:53] Speaker 3: that he will walk again, he'll be fine.
[4:56] Speaker 2: Quarterbacks get hurt.
[4:56] Speaker 3: Like what are we looking at? Aaron Rodgers still out there, man,
[5:00] Speaker 3: coming off Achilles. Your man, I mean, Cousins is a
[5:03] Speaker 3: different story. He's not going to be a starter, but
[5:05] Speaker 3: he got big money after an Achilles. Like it would
[5:09] Speaker 3: have to be something real tragic for him to no
[5:12] Speaker 3: longer have the cash that he would have. And I
[5:15] Speaker 3: think to your point about going and throwing a bone,
[5:17] Speaker 3: there's nobody in his camp to do that. I think
[5:20] Speaker 3: people in his camp look around and you know the
[5:22] Speaker 3: type of people that need to throw somebody a bone?
[5:25] Speaker 2: The people who ain't balling.
[5:27] Speaker 3: You know what I mean? Throw them no bone, you
[5:29] Speaker 3: know what I'm going to throw? I'm going to throw
[5:30] Speaker 3: some touchdowns. Throw them no damn bone. I ain't coming
[5:34] Speaker 3: to this workout. But the thing is, obviously, he has
[5:38] Speaker 3: a team and off-season plan and whatever that he does
[5:43] Speaker 3: all the time.
[5:43] Speaker 2: So, like, he doesn't need this workout program.
[5:46] Speaker 3: The only reason why you show up at this point
[5:48] Speaker 3: of your Lamar Jackson with a new coach is that's, like–
[5:52] Speaker 3: Let's throw them a bone. Like, it's essentially I want
[5:54] Speaker 3: them to know that I'm all in. I want all
[5:56] Speaker 3: the players to know. I want all the fans to know.
[5:58] Speaker 3: The coaches, front office.
[6:00] Speaker 2: I'm all in. I'm going to give everything I got
[6:01] Speaker 2: this year. No hard feelings.
[6:03] Speaker 1: Or maybe this is your opportunity to come in and
[6:05] Speaker 1: make sure the head coach know who really in charge, right? Like,
[6:08] Speaker 1: this is your chance to come in there like, no,
[6:10] Speaker 1: this is how we stretch.
[6:12] Speaker 2: The head coach know who really in charge.
[6:13] Speaker 3: I believe that the head coach said Lamar was involved
[6:16] Speaker 3: in the interview process. I think they know who really
[6:20] Speaker 3: in charge around there, but Maybe you're right. He wanted
[6:23] Speaker 3: to come in and make sure day one, the real
[6:25] Speaker 3: ball's not gonna miss day one.
[6:27] Speaker 1: Yo, but I thought about this too. We know so
[6:29] Speaker 1: little about Lamar Jackson, like as person or anything else.
[6:33] Speaker 1: And I realized this when he showed up with the
[6:35] Speaker 1: I Love Jesus hoodie and then Fox News did a
[6:39] Speaker 1: story on foxnews.com about him wearing that hoodie And then
[6:43] Speaker 1: they sent a tweet out about it, a tweet that
[6:45] Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson then retweeted. And it was kind of like,
[6:49] Speaker 1: I don't know about that one, buddy. I got no
[6:51] Speaker 1: idea what Lamar Jackson think about anything. Right. Like, remember
[6:55] Speaker 1: that time where Trump said something about him and he
[6:57] Speaker 1: was there something back about Trump. And then I forget
[6:59] Speaker 1: what his response was. I was like, anything you tell
[7:01] Speaker 1: me about this is possible. You could be a Black
[7:03] Speaker 1: Panther or you could be a Glenn Beck's program. I
[7:07] Speaker 1: have no idea, son. I don't know anything about you.
[7:10] Speaker 1: I don't even know if you own a suit. I
[7:12] Speaker 1: know nothing about you.
[7:13] Speaker 3: When I think he did a trust, a trust Trump
[7:17] Speaker 3: tweet at one point back when they was, they was
[7:20] Speaker 3: doing big trust in the backfield. But yeah, I think
[7:23] Speaker 3: you're right. I not, I think you're right. We don't
[7:25] Speaker 3: know anything about him. And I think we graphed onto
[7:28] Speaker 3: him a lot of different things. I can speak for myself.
[7:31] Speaker 3: Like it's a history of black quarterbacks and all that stuff.
[7:33] Speaker 3: Like graphed onto him a bunch of different things and
[7:36] Speaker 3: a bunch of arguments and, and conversations and progress that.
[7:41] Speaker 2: I ain't really thinking about it, man.
[7:43] Speaker 3: I just want a ball to get paid. And it's like,
[7:46] Speaker 3: for someone else, for other people, he represents so much more.
[7:49] Speaker 3: And I think particularly because of when we do hear
[7:53] Speaker 3: him speak and the way that he generally carries himself,
[7:56] Speaker 3: while he's not the first black quarterback, he's the first
[7:59] Speaker 3: quarterback that comes off and that presents himself in this way.
[8:03] Speaker 3: He's a pioneering figure, whether he wants to accept it
[8:06] Speaker 3: or not.
[8:07] Speaker 1: Yeah, like I said, he's the first one that we
[8:09] Speaker 1: don't know if he got a suit.
[8:11] Speaker 4: Right.
[8:11] Speaker 1: So I remember when Cam was young and the world
[8:16] Speaker 1: started to catch fire.
[8:17] Speaker 2: Right.
[8:18] Speaker 1: We kind of wanted Cam or I don't know if
[8:20] Speaker 1: we a lot of people kind of wanted Cam to
[8:23] Speaker 1: talk about the bigger issues of the world. And Cam
[8:27] Speaker 1: not explicitly was kind of trying to let people know.
[8:31] Speaker 1: I'm not really good at that, guys. That's not, I don't, like,
[8:36] Speaker 1: it didn't feel so great about doing that. The Panthers
[8:38] Speaker 1: had even had him meet with Frank Luntz, the right-wing strategist,
[8:43] Speaker 1: to try to get his talking points together, which is
[8:45] Speaker 1: a little worrisome. But anyway, like, that's, they wanted Cam
[8:49] Speaker 1: to talk. Now Cam talked for a living, and I
[8:51] Speaker 1: get the feeling that y'all don't want him to do
[8:52] Speaker 1: nearly as much. of that talking. Like you kind of
[8:55] Speaker 1: like him to fall back. Nobody's asked Lamar Jackson to
[8:57] Speaker 1: talk about anything. Like right now, we don't expect our
[9:02] Speaker 1: athletes to talk about a single solitary thing at this point.
[9:07] Speaker 1: None of them. Like we have given up on that experiment,
[9:10] Speaker 1: which is interesting because it seemed to be making some
[9:12] Speaker 1: progress around 2020.
[9:14] Speaker 3: Yeah, I noticed that the way that you presented it,
[9:16] Speaker 3: it's not clear where you fall on that, but I
[9:19] Speaker 3: think Howard Bryant's book, The Prestige, which I assume you read.
[9:24] Speaker 2: The Heritage.
[9:25] Speaker 3: I'm sorry, The Prestige. I'm thinking about that movie. I
[9:27] Speaker 3: watched it with my son two weeks ago. The Heritage
[9:30] Speaker 3: talks a bunch about how the black athlete was kind
[9:34] Speaker 3: of the original wealthy and powerful black person. The expectation
[9:40] Speaker 3: was there, and I think We still kind of have
[9:44] Speaker 3: that expectation, but it feels like I'm fine with people.
[9:51] Speaker 3: I'm not going to tell nobody to shut up and dribble,
[9:54] Speaker 3: but if you find yourself as someone who is most
[9:57] Speaker 3: comfortable not talking about that stuff, I think we'll the
[10:00] Speaker 3: scary part is in part because of like social media
[10:04] Speaker 3: and all that stuff everyone feels that their opinion should
[10:06] Speaker 3: be like held in high regard and some people don't
[10:11] Speaker 3: trying to say this in a way that's not insulting
[10:13] Speaker 3: and makes it feel like I feel like I'm holier
[10:14] Speaker 3: than thou, but some people don't read.
[10:16] Speaker 1: Yeah. That's not what they do, right?
[10:20] Speaker 2: Yeah, and I'm fine. If you don't do it, then
[10:22] Speaker 2: don't do it.
[10:23] Speaker 1: Yeah, so that's my big thing is if you don't
[10:24] Speaker 1: do it, don't do it, right? But don't nobody do it?
[10:28] Speaker 1: I guess I'm a little confused, okay? So think about this.
[10:34] Speaker 1: Trayvon Martin died 14 years ago. So let's say that
[10:41] Speaker 1: you're a 22-year-old athlete. You're eight years old when that happened.
[10:47] Speaker 1: You actually grew up in a time where athletes had
[10:52] Speaker 1: things to say about the larger world. Now, we can
[10:55] Speaker 1: raise questions about how deep the statements were or everything else,
[10:59] Speaker 1: but they were out there. It's all gone, right? It's
[11:04] Speaker 1: almost like the basketball is caught up to the music.
[11:07] Speaker 1: where the music gradually, and it's weird in music, because
[11:10] Speaker 1: music is always a space where you always expected to
[11:12] Speaker 1: hear a little something about something larger than a personal expectation.
[11:17] Speaker 1: Maybe this is in line, like I got an email
[11:19] Speaker 1: the other day about the 20th anniversary of Bill Roden's book,
[11:22] Speaker 1: The $ 40 Million Slate. And he had a chapter in
[11:26] Speaker 1: that book where he talked about the idea of the
[11:27] Speaker 1: conveyor belt, which is basically because the money gets a
[11:31] Speaker 1: hold of these players so young, they are molded into
[11:34] Speaker 1: being corporate pitchmen from such a young age that it's
[11:38] Speaker 1: like a conveyor belt. They are handed over from person
[11:40] Speaker 1: to person, job to job, place to place, whatever. And
[11:42] Speaker 1: then by the time you get to the end, you
[11:44] Speaker 1: get a socially unconscious being who only exists to sell.
[11:50] Speaker 1: Maybe what we're seeing here is the culmination of that.
[11:54] Speaker 1: But given that we thought the world was going to
[11:57] Speaker 1: end on Tuesday, you would think that one of these
[12:00] Speaker 1: cats would care about it on some level, whether I
[12:03] Speaker 1: want to hear what they got to say or not.
[12:05] Speaker 2: Right.
[12:05] Speaker 1: You don't even really hear it from Jalen Brown no more.
[12:08] Speaker 2: I mean, I, I honestly think that they are reacting.
[12:11] Speaker 3: I don't think that they are, and maybe they never were,
[12:17] Speaker 3: but I don't think athletes are like civil rights leaders.
[12:21] Speaker 1: I agree.
[12:22] Speaker 2: Right.
[12:22] Speaker 3: And I think that a lot of the outspokenness was, um,
[12:26] Speaker 3: a reaction to the waters that they were sitting in.
[12:29] Speaker 3: And at the time it was something that everybody was
[12:32] Speaker 3: doing and they had the larger platform. I don't think
[12:36] Speaker 3: that we're looking at a time where the athlete is
[12:40] Speaker 3: interested in or willing to be pilloried in the way
[12:46] Speaker 3: that say Colin Kaepernick was. I think what we have
[12:49] Speaker 3: with the athletes more than anything is like, to your point,
[12:52] Speaker 3: it's like, all right, this is the way that the
[12:54] Speaker 3: wind is blowing. I will amplify this message, but I'm
[12:59] Speaker 3: not going to be the first one to stand up
[13:01] Speaker 3: and be like, Hey guys.
[13:03] Speaker 2: And us generally as.
[13:04] Speaker 3: A society, as crazy as shit has gotten, we haven't
[13:08] Speaker 3: turned up to the degree that the, the world has
[13:12] Speaker 3: turned up.
[13:12] Speaker 2: We haven't turned up as a society. Like we all
[13:15] Speaker 2: protested out.
[13:17] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[13:17] Speaker 1: It's funny. Cause my brother went to the protest they
[13:20] Speaker 1: was having the other weekend and So this is what
[13:24] Speaker 1: the athletes could say, but it's not that, which is, hey, man,
[13:27] Speaker 1: I think that I think things have gone a little
[13:29] Speaker 1: farther than people have been willing to bring themselves to
[13:31] Speaker 1: appreciate and understand. You and I talk about this all
[13:33] Speaker 1: the time, right? Like, I never want to say that
[13:35] Speaker 1: it's at a point where there's no point in talking
[13:37] Speaker 1: because I don't think that's ever truly the case. But
[13:39] Speaker 1: we are. We pass that kind of march, right? Right.
[13:43] Speaker 1: We all be out here dressed up as fucking cartoon
[13:46] Speaker 1: characters and y'all got jokes and it makes for really
[13:48] Speaker 1: funny stuff for you to put online. Now, the stakes
[13:51] Speaker 1: have greatly exceeded. that method of presentation. It is real
[13:56] Speaker 1: out here at this point. We were literally wondering if
[13:59] Speaker 1: a nuclear war was about to break out on Tuesday.
[14:03] Speaker 1: And by the way, it's still on the board. Like
[14:07] Speaker 1: they said it was a ceasefire, but you know what
[14:09] Speaker 1: ain't ceased? Fire.
[14:12] Speaker 5: Like, I thought that was one of those where you
[14:14] Speaker 5: put that word with that word and we all know
[14:17] Speaker 5: what it is.
[14:17] Speaker 1: It's pronounced the same way the whole nine, right? No, no, no.
[14:21] Speaker 1: This isn't what it is. And there is no reflection
[14:25] Speaker 1: of that from, and for this case, I'd count athletes
[14:29] Speaker 1: as pop culture figures. Yeah. The world of pop culture,
[14:35] Speaker 1: at least younger, ain't really giving nothing on this. And
[14:38] Speaker 1: I was like, oh, wow, I think you guys would
[14:40] Speaker 1: be the more scared ones.
[14:42] Speaker 3: I mean, we had, like, at the award shows, we had, like,
[14:47] Speaker 3: some people saying, ice out. And I was like, that
[14:49] Speaker 3: was about that. And that was the last thing we
[14:52] Speaker 3: don't have. And, like, to your point, like, we're at
[14:54] Speaker 3: a different place now, and it keeps amping up. Like,
[14:56] Speaker 3: where we were on Tuesday night when there's, like, an
[14:59] Speaker 3: apocalyptic countdown, like.
[15:01] Speaker 2: Nobody said nothing. Nobody put up a black square. I
[15:06] Speaker 2: miss it.
[15:07] Speaker 3: I know we was mocking it back then, but can
[15:10] Speaker 3: we do some colored squares or something? I live in D.C.,
[15:13] Speaker 3: so I see a lot more protests. There were people
[15:17] Speaker 3: out on the mall and stuff, but I think what
[15:21] Speaker 3: comes to mind for me is that there was a
[15:24] Speaker 3: point when the internet felt freer and social media felt
[15:29] Speaker 3: more natural. And I think it feels more controlled and curated.
[15:35] Speaker 3: And we're in a place now where a lot of
[15:41] Speaker 3: organizing and amplifying and motivating takes place on these platforms.
[15:47] Speaker 3: And if the algorithms are designed to turn those down,
[15:51] Speaker 3: as much as we mocked the performative nature of the
[15:56] Speaker 3: stuff online, when it starts to build up, you start
[15:59] Speaker 3: to feel You get your muscles and you're like, oh,
[16:03] Speaker 3: this is where everything is going. I want to be
[16:06] Speaker 3: a leader of that. I want to get involved in that.
[16:08] Speaker 3: But when something starts bubbling up and it gets tamped down,
[16:12] Speaker 3: then we feel like nothing's actually happening.
[16:14] Speaker 2: And we're like, don't anybody care?
[16:18] Speaker 3: Just kind of goes and happens, and we move on,
[16:20] Speaker 3: some new shit pops up, and some pictures pop up
[16:23] Speaker 3: on the internet, connected to people you know, and you
[16:25] Speaker 3: just move on.
[16:29] Speaker 1: That's all anybody needed.
[16:31] Speaker 2: That's all. We always looking for distractions.
[16:34] Speaker 1: See, now you would have did the thing, right?
[16:37] Speaker 2: What thing?
[16:38] Speaker 1: The thing where now I'm like, am I going to
[16:42] Speaker 1: do it?
[16:42] Speaker 3: You know one thing I'm not worried about is Bomani
[16:45] Speaker 3: Jones being able to artfully... Discuss something that most people
[16:49] Speaker 3: are scared to pick up. So I'll throw anything on
[16:51] Speaker 3: the table for you.
[16:51] Speaker 2: You will. You will.
[16:53] Speaker 1: And it's tricky. And people have seen this. It's a
[16:55] Speaker 1: story where page six. I am amazed by the fact
[16:59] Speaker 1: and like the levels at which people care about stories
[17:02] Speaker 1: involving sports media. But I guess when it comes with
[17:06] Speaker 1: an allegation that a media member is sleeping with a
[17:10] Speaker 1: head coach and there is pictures of them posted up
[17:14] Speaker 1: by the pool at a hotel that caught like.
[17:20] Speaker 2: Wildfire, wild, wild.
[17:25] Speaker 1: Wildfire everywhere. And I just looked at the pictures and.
[17:34] Speaker 1: All I know is each of them had the same story.
[17:37] Speaker 1: We was there with friends, and we happened to be
[17:39] Speaker 1: at the same place, but ain't none of the friends
[17:42] Speaker 1: in none of the pictures. And all I'm saying is,
[17:45] Speaker 1: you said friends and nothing about your spouses, which is
[17:48] Speaker 1: how that story right there, even if it might get
[17:51] Speaker 1: you through in public, is not going to help you
[17:55] Speaker 1: out when it matters at the Ponderosa.
[18:03] Speaker 3: I don't know, obviously. I know both of them and
[18:07] Speaker 3: like both of them. Braves and I go way back
[18:11] Speaker 3: to CBA negotiations and when Gene Upshaw died. He was
[18:18] Speaker 3: a guy who was a great dude. Upstanding guy. High integrity.
[18:24] Speaker 3: Diana's cool. I like her too. Everyone is great. I
[18:27] Speaker 3: wonder how I would have reacted if I didn't know
[18:30] Speaker 3: these people, but My immediate feeling was just a pit
[18:34] Speaker 3: in my.
[18:34] Speaker 2: Stomach, like, God, damn, this sucks for them and everybody
[18:40] Speaker 2: around them.
[18:42] Speaker 1: I was thinking minimally about how much it sucked for
[18:45] Speaker 1: them and immediately for how much it sucked for the
[18:51] Speaker 1: husband team. in question here, or all the parties involved
[18:56] Speaker 1: in question here. Again, I didn't know. The fact that
[18:59] Speaker 1: we as an industry or whatever are paid six worthy
[19:02] Speaker 1: is bananas. It is like the larger media questions get
[19:08] Speaker 1: to be a little bit tricky because they can veer
[19:11] Speaker 1: into misogyny very, very quickly. There is obviously a clearly
[19:17] Speaker 1: much greater judgment toward Diana in this allegation. than there
[19:22] Speaker 1: is toward Vrabel, though I think to be fair on
[19:24] Speaker 1: that one, there's a code of sorts that exists in
[19:31] Speaker 1: Diana's line of work that this violates, that is not
[19:34] Speaker 1: a violation of whatever code there is in Mike Vrabel's
[19:37] Speaker 1: line of work, if it is as it has been alleged, right?
[19:41] Speaker 1: I think that part is there. I just don't know how,
[19:46] Speaker 1: if the allegation is founded, I don't know how you
[19:48] Speaker 1: can come back and, like, who bring you on to
[19:49] Speaker 1: do this job.
[19:50] Speaker 3: Again yeah i mean it seems like the athletic is
[19:54] Speaker 3: standing behind her but yeah you just you can't really
[19:58] Speaker 3: if you are an information person a reporter an insider
[20:02] Speaker 3: and like people believe that's the that's the really terrible
[20:07] Speaker 3: part about it is like whether it's true or false
[20:10] Speaker 3: if people believe it then you kind of lose the
[20:14] Speaker 3: the value that you bring to this because like you're
[20:17] Speaker 3: presenting yourself as someone who's just presenting the facts and
[20:20] Speaker 3: if people don't believe that you're that person so that's
[20:22] Speaker 3: the part where it's like again i don't know for
[20:24] Speaker 3: sure about anything i can speculate or whatever but i
[20:28] Speaker 3: do know next time there's some reports from her like
[20:32] Speaker 3: no one's The replies are going to be all jokes. No.
[20:36] Speaker 1: Well, I know this, though. If the athletic is standing
[20:39] Speaker 1: behind her and they did stand behind her in that
[20:42] Speaker 1: statement and I wasn't sure that they were going to
[20:45] Speaker 1: do such a thing. That means one thing. She presented
[20:49] Speaker 1: a compelling retort when it was brought to her by
[20:54] Speaker 1: the bosses. So can you tell us what's going on here?
[20:57] Speaker 1: Whatever story she gave must have been a great one.
[21:03] Speaker 1: Cause I definitely expected a, we'll look into it. Yeah.
[21:08] Speaker 3: And yeah, I mean, I assume that there's like all
[21:11] Speaker 3: types of legal ramifications for those decisions that are made,
[21:15] Speaker 3: but if we could get off of them specifically for
[21:18] Speaker 3: a second, just the idea of anyone going on a
[21:24] Speaker 3: vacation with, someone that is not their spouse that's the
[21:31] Speaker 3: shit that's crazy to me what i don't understand is
[21:36] Speaker 3: why i want to like.
[21:38] Speaker 2: Play house like i have a house that's.
[21:42] Speaker 3: The shit that get me and uh yeah it's not
[21:44] Speaker 3: about them just generally it popped into my mind like
[21:48] Speaker 3: i don't know i i cheating happens but having a
[21:52] Speaker 3: whole like Side relationship sounds tiresome.
[21:57] Speaker 2: It does.
[21:58] Speaker 1: It does.
[21:58] Speaker 2: It does.
[21:59] Speaker 1: It seems like a bandwidth drain. But I will say
[22:03] Speaker 1: this for Mike Vrabel. I tell you who he ain't
[22:04] Speaker 1: about to hear nothing about this from. Bob Craft. I
[22:11] Speaker 1: wish you would try to tell me something about this. Oh, y'all,
[22:13] Speaker 1: so what you telling me? I should just go get
[22:16] Speaker 1: a massage. That's what I thought. That's what I... Sit
[22:19] Speaker 1: your old ass down.
[22:22] Speaker 2: Yeah, and I mean... Not that he was going to
[22:24] Speaker 2: hear anything anyway.
[22:25] Speaker 3: Like, if he just was like, yeah, I got 13 girlfriends,
[22:31] Speaker 3: how many games are we winning?
[22:34] Speaker 2: It's the way it works.
[22:35] Speaker 1: But you actually made a good point here, because I'm
[22:36] Speaker 1: with you. The idea that you are carrying on a
[22:39] Speaker 1: whole side situation, right? Like, that is a significant expenditure
[22:44] Speaker 1: of effort. And let us not forget, man, we are
[22:46] Speaker 1: in a world where people got two families, bruh. I've
[22:51] Speaker 1: heard that before.
[22:52] Speaker 2: That just sounds.
[22:53] Speaker 3: Well, actually, I know people who have experienced something like that.
[22:56] Speaker 3: That don't make sense to me in this day and age,
[22:59] Speaker 3: how you can pull that move off.
[23:00] Speaker 1: Well, well, well, the answer is baseball.
[23:08] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[23:08] Speaker 1: You can pull it off in baseball, right? You go
[23:11] Speaker 1: do spring training wherever it is for all of that time.
[23:14] Speaker 1: You can have one base set up there, then the
[23:17] Speaker 1: other base that's in the other spot, and everybody understands, well, hey,
[23:21] Speaker 1: I do these months over here. I do these months
[23:24] Speaker 1: over here.
[23:24] Speaker 3: No, no, no.
[23:25] Speaker 1: You keep the kids in school here. That'll be fine.
[23:27] Speaker 1: I'm going to come holler back at you when we
[23:29] Speaker 1: come back on the other side. You understand what I'm saying?
[23:32] Speaker 1: It sounds expensive. It sounds exhausting. And if you're going
[23:40] Speaker 1: to have two families, it implies that you're actually trying
[23:43] Speaker 1: to manage the relationships and emotions of two spouses, which is,
[23:47] Speaker 1: I mean, one spouse is, one might argue, more work
[23:51] Speaker 1: than one man can handle.
[23:53] Speaker 2: And then the kids on top of it. That is
[23:56] Speaker 2: really hard to try to be that.
[23:58] Speaker 3: You're not being a good spouse or parent to somebody
[24:03] Speaker 3: or to everybody.
[24:04] Speaker 2: And also, like, this might just be me, but the
[24:09] Speaker 2: best thing.
[24:09] Speaker 3: About work travel is, I ain't got to worry about nobody.
[24:14] Speaker 3: I got to make a call, tell people goodnight, remind
[24:17] Speaker 3: them of homework, tell people I love them, and then
[24:20] Speaker 3: I can go to dinner with Ramone Jones in New
[24:22] Speaker 3: York and then go to sleep. I can't imagine being
[24:25] Speaker 3: on a work trip doing all the same stuff.
[24:28] Speaker 2: Like I am.
[24:29] Speaker 1: Yo, especially because this ain't the old days, right? The
[24:32] Speaker 1: old days where you leave the house for a week.
[24:37] Speaker 1: At some point, perhaps you'll hear from me. Ugh. But
[24:40] Speaker 1: there was no obligation that you hear from anybody every
[24:45] Speaker 1: day or on any sort of demand.
[24:49] Speaker 6: Right?
[24:49] Speaker 1: Like, if you got two of them, that's like you
[24:52] Speaker 1: have a foe of them back in the day.
[24:55] Speaker 3: This also just reminds me of, like, whatever privilege, I
[25:02] Speaker 3: don't know if that's the word that we still use,
[25:03] Speaker 3: but whatever privilege that we get from being a man, like, how...
[25:08] Speaker 3: Stark it was back then and how it still exists
[25:11] Speaker 3: is like, because you were the only one that had
[25:15] Speaker 3: any like realistic way of, of generating money yes like
[25:19] Speaker 3: they knew what was up what would they gonna do
[25:21] Speaker 3: go get a job or.
[25:23] Speaker 1: Go get a bank account yeah you can't even on
[25:26] Speaker 1: the board.
[25:26] Speaker 3: That's that's mind-blowing to me like it's just like the
[25:30] Speaker 3: idea that there's a full and i know that there
[25:33] Speaker 3: are other countries in the world where it exists even
[25:35] Speaker 3: worse than this but the idea that a full-grown.
[25:37] Speaker 2: Adult has no recourse No recourse.
[25:42] Speaker 3: She caught me. I heard you got a family in
[25:45] Speaker 3: another city. I know that you going over there with
[25:47] Speaker 3: Latoya and you raising her kids.
[25:50] Speaker 2: Okay. What you going to do?
[25:52] Speaker 1: Pick your next move. Either leave or live with it. Exactly.
[25:58] Speaker 3: And if there were, and I know like the 1950s
[26:01] Speaker 3: television shows depict these dads as being great dads and
[26:07] Speaker 3: fathers and employees.
[26:10] Speaker 2: Those dudes are the best. They just looked at this world.
[26:15] Speaker 2: It could just be whatever they wanted. It was like, no,
[26:18] Speaker 2: I'm going to be good.
[26:19] Speaker 1: Yo, I was thinking about this. You know, you get older.
[26:23] Speaker 1: The world is what it is. Cats tell you what
[26:25] Speaker 1: they do and don't do or whatever. But you have
[26:27] Speaker 1: these situations with these dudes that talk about being out
[26:29] Speaker 1: all night and then coming back home. And my thought
[26:33] Speaker 1: always was, well, what are you saying when you get
[26:36] Speaker 1: back home? Like, what story could you possibly have to
[26:39] Speaker 1: explain this when you get back home? And little did
[26:42] Speaker 1: I know, the answer was, what story? I'm going to
[26:45] Speaker 1: just walk in.
[26:47] Speaker 2: Because you.
[26:49] Speaker 3: suspect that they respect that person as a full adult peer. Like,
[26:57] Speaker 3: could you imagine if I walked in my house at
[26:59] Speaker 3: 1 o'clock and my kids was like, where you been?
[27:03] Speaker 2: I ain't where I been.
[27:04] Speaker 3: Like, that's the same thing that they're like, you come
[27:07] Speaker 3: in the house and your wife is like, where you been?
[27:10] Speaker 2: And they just like, where I been? Whatever the fuck
[27:14] Speaker 2: I want to be.
[27:14] Speaker 1: In my skin.
[27:15] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's... Yeah, I... Yeah, that's the thing.
[27:20] Speaker 1: Hey, look, apparently that is not the dynamic for either
[27:23] Speaker 1: of these two people as their response to this was,
[27:27] Speaker 1: let me tell you what happened. Like, there's nobody involved
[27:30] Speaker 1: in this situation that believed that they could just dictate
[27:33] Speaker 1: what's going down.
[27:34] Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, no.
[27:36] Speaker 1: There was a story. Brother, somebody sent me an AI
[27:39] Speaker 1: workup of them like they was at that Coldplay concert.
[27:44] Speaker 3: Sheesh.
[27:45] Speaker 1: Yeah, and I'm going to tell you, I don't think
[27:47] Speaker 1: No matter what happened, I don't think either of them
[27:50] Speaker 1: thought that they was famous enough that somebody would be
[27:53] Speaker 1: taking a picture of them at some hotel in Arizona
[27:57] Speaker 1: and sending it off to the newspaper.
[28:00] Speaker 3: But the pictures alone is supposed to be the damning evidence.
[28:04] Speaker 3: I feel like the pictures.
[28:07] Speaker 2: Are explainable. The hard part is then all the other
[28:10] Speaker 2: context around it.
[28:12] Speaker 1: Well, the pictures are explainable depending upon whom you are
[28:15] Speaker 1: trying to explain what. And I say that to say,
[28:20] Speaker 1: explain to your wife the interlocking handhold.
[28:24] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[28:25] Speaker 1: This one right here. Explain that one.
[28:28] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[28:28] Speaker 2: That's a tough one.
[28:29] Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
[28:30] Speaker 1: Like, that's the one that you go, like, that's like
[28:33] Speaker 1: when Bobby Petrino got caught up, and no matter what happened,
[28:36] Speaker 1: the part that he couldn't explain was why she was
[28:38] Speaker 1: on your motorcycle.
[28:39] Speaker 6: Like, no matter what deniability that you had, no matter
[28:44] Speaker 6: any story that you came up with, end of the day,
[28:47] Speaker 6: you got that little young thang on the back of
[28:49] Speaker 6: your motorcycle.
[28:51] Speaker 1: Riddle me that, big dog.
[28:52] Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know.
[28:54] Speaker 3: Like, I'm just trying to think. Of course, like, I
[29:00] Speaker 3: have lots of friends and lots of people to work with. Like,
[29:04] Speaker 3: hugs are not uncommon. Like, you catch... And we travel
[29:07] Speaker 3: for work. So, like, I'm at Super Bowl at a
[29:09] Speaker 3: hotel with... Yeah. You just interlocking them fingers. I don't...
[29:15] Speaker 3: That's all I'm asking. It's the little things, man. It's
[29:18] Speaker 3: the little things. Because somebody snap a picture of me
[29:21] Speaker 3: hugging somebody at a pool.
[29:22] Speaker 2: It's like, oh, yeah.
[29:23] Speaker 1: I saw.
[29:24] Speaker 2: I ain't seen her in a year. I saw her
[29:25] Speaker 2: at the thing. I hugged her. Oh, you guys... Chairs
[29:28] Speaker 2: was next to each other. Like, yeah, we was talking.
[29:30] Speaker 2: It was cool. All of that. Yeah.
[29:34] Speaker 1: Y'all sitting at dinner with your hands up, tapping fingertips
[29:39] Speaker 1: like this.
[29:40] Speaker 2: Jesus, tough, man. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[29:42] Speaker 1: <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> Like,
[29:44] Speaker 1: the question is this. Would you do that with your cousin?
[29:46] Speaker 1: Because if the answer is no.
[29:49] Speaker 5: Then the story immediately falls apart, right?
[29:52] Speaker 1: Like, you could have an arm around situation, but you
[29:54] Speaker 1: know what? That arm around, that woman knows your wife.
[29:57] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[29:58] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[29:59] Speaker 1: Like you have taken the work and effort to introduce
[30:02] Speaker 1: that woman to your wife with an understanding that I
[30:06] Speaker 1: need to establish some measure of peace in this. Because
[30:11] Speaker 1: to be that close to you, she has to love
[30:13] Speaker 1: your wife. Otherwise, this is not allowed, right?
[30:16] Speaker 2: Right. Yeah, unwritten rules. That's so nice of you right now. Yes,
[30:20] Speaker 2: you know what?
[30:21] Speaker 1: You were right. Because I was terrified that this topic
[30:23] Speaker 1: might come up and what I might do with it.
[30:25] Speaker 1: But you're right. I think I figured out how to
[30:27] Speaker 1: discuss this without ruining any of our relationships or ruining
[30:31] Speaker 1: anything that's going on with our lives, which is good
[30:35] Speaker 1: because I think they might, at least one of them,
[30:37] Speaker 1: have ruined their careers.
[30:39] Speaker 6: Yeah.

[32:03] Speaker 1: All right, we are back with Dominique Foxworth. I guess
[32:06] Speaker 1: you're going to be in Pittsburgh pretty soon for the
[32:09] Speaker 1: NFL draft.
[32:10] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. We're going to drive up. Me and
[32:13] Speaker 2: Charlie are going to road trip it. Oh, really? Yeah,
[32:15] Speaker 2: I don't know.
[32:16] Speaker 3: I was thinking, like, go to the airport, fly to Pittsburgh.
[32:18] Speaker 3: It's like a four-hour drive. It ain't too bad.
[32:21] Speaker 2: We ride up, me and Charlie get real close.
[32:24] Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not saying you're going to learn a lot
[32:25] Speaker 1: about each other. You know what I'm saying?
[32:27] Speaker 2: Put this relationship to the test.
[32:29] Speaker 1: Hey, man, Pittsburgh's shutting down for the draft. Boy, they
[32:31] Speaker 1: cancel the schools and everything.
[32:33] Speaker 2: I mean, they got to. Make it easier.
[32:36] Speaker 3: I'm on board with it. Them kids ain't going to
[32:38] Speaker 3: learn nothing that day. Get them out the streets. Make
[32:40] Speaker 3: it safe. Make it easier for me to get about.
[32:44] Speaker 3: One day in school, we took a year off of school.
[32:46] Speaker 3: Everybody learned from home a few years ago. Y'all can
[32:49] Speaker 3: take a day off.
[32:49] Speaker 2: You'll be all right.
[32:50] Speaker 1: I tell you this, though. You made a very innocent
[32:52] Speaker 1: point earlier that I completely lost track of. I still
[32:55] Speaker 1: have no idea what the Steelers are going to do
[32:57] Speaker 1: at quarterback, and it still might be starting Aaron Rodgers. Like,
[33:01] Speaker 1: I feel like you got the room to walk in
[33:02] Speaker 1: and tell Aaron Rodgers, like, yo, make a move.
[33:06] Speaker 2: They don't want to, though.
[33:07] Speaker 3: I mean, the Steelers make it real hard for me
[33:10] Speaker 3: because I've kind of staked out this very aggressive anti-tanking position.
[33:18] Speaker 3: But I have to be sure that people understand that
[33:21] Speaker 3: extremes on either end are bad. I'm not saying you
[33:27] Speaker 3: can't have a plan for the future. They approach every
[33:31] Speaker 3: season like it's the last season. There's no season after
[33:36] Speaker 3: this one, which I respect and appreciate. And it's made
[33:40] Speaker 3: them somewhat competitive, but not really for a long time.
[33:45] Speaker 3: But yeah, they got to figure out some sort of
[33:47] Speaker 3: transition there, man.
[33:49] Speaker 1: I mean, Aaron Rodgers could never be the answer. And
[33:54] Speaker 1: I just don't think you can operate with the... Aaron
[33:57] Speaker 1: Rodgers last year wasn't good enough. I think that's fair
[33:59] Speaker 1: to say? Yeah. There's no reason to assume he'll be
[34:02] Speaker 1: as good next year as he was last year. That's
[34:04] Speaker 1: just not how things work. So why are we like,
[34:07] Speaker 1: why in the world are you doing this? Why weren't
[34:10] Speaker 1: you the ones to go get Malik Willis or something, right?
[34:13] Speaker 1: There's gotta be a quarterback somewhere. It would have been
[34:16] Speaker 1: okay with me if they went and got Kirk Cousins
[34:18] Speaker 1: compared to the, I mean, I still think that, I
[34:20] Speaker 1: think he's a good idea for what they're doing with
[34:21] Speaker 1: the Raiders, but I can't, I just can't imagine how
[34:25] Speaker 1: they got themselves stuck in this place that they're in.
[34:28] Speaker 1: And by the way, which makes you look at Mike
[34:29] Speaker 1: Tomlin and be like, okay, maybe it wasn't on you.
[34:32] Speaker 6: Yeah.
[34:33] Speaker 3: I mean, I think the, The argument for the Steelers
[34:38] Speaker 3: bringing Aaron Rodgers back is we have a very expensive
[34:42] Speaker 3: and talented defense that underachieved. I think you could make
[34:46] Speaker 3: the argument that, and I was like making this, when
[34:49] Speaker 3: we were going through all these preseason months last year
[34:52] Speaker 3: and we needed something to talk about and new ways
[34:54] Speaker 3: to spend this same conversation, was like, look, Aaron Rodgers
[34:58] Speaker 3: wasn't good enough in New York.
[35:00] Speaker 2: However, Aaron Rodgers is good.
[35:03] Speaker 3: A legitimate starting quarterback, if all they need him to
[35:07] Speaker 3: do is like be to make one special throw a game,
[35:11] Speaker 3: they might do well because their defense is so good.
[35:14] Speaker 3: The problem is their defense was not that good. So
[35:17] Speaker 3: that's the argument. It's like, look, we bring him back all,
[35:20] Speaker 3: but then you end up with the same thing where
[35:21] Speaker 3: it's like their defense is already old. There's no reason
[35:24] Speaker 3: to believe that that old defense is suddenly going to
[35:27] Speaker 3: be better this year than they were last year. But
[35:29] Speaker 3: that's the only argument is like, we're really close.
[35:32] Speaker 2: As our core.
[35:33] Speaker 3: And if we go to a young quarterback, then we
[35:36] Speaker 3: might as well blow this whole thing up because everyone
[35:38] Speaker 3: else is kind of old too.
[35:40] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[35:40] Speaker 1: But like, and they're not the only team that's in
[35:42] Speaker 1: this place, Arizona. I don't understand what you guys are
[35:46] Speaker 1: doing here. Like, you don't, especially Arizona who said, no,
[35:51] Speaker 1: we'll take a 30 something million dollar cap hit to
[35:54] Speaker 1: tell our quarterback to leave. Well, who's your quarterback? Good question. Now,
[36:00] Speaker 1: you know, when you put it like that, Tough call.
[36:03] Speaker 2: What are you doing?
[36:04] Speaker 3: They don't want Kyler back because he might win too
[36:06] Speaker 3: many games.
[36:08] Speaker 1: This is our chance. Yeah, that's it.
[36:10] Speaker 3: It's like we know that we don't want Kyler long term,
[36:13] Speaker 3: long term. So if we're going to be here with
[36:15] Speaker 3: him long term, then that's cool.
[36:17] Speaker 2: We'll bring him back.
[36:17] Speaker 3: We don't want him here long term for whatever number
[36:20] Speaker 3: of reasons. So why are we going to bring him
[36:23] Speaker 3: back in so he can win three or four games
[36:25] Speaker 3: for us that we don't expect to win? We end
[36:27] Speaker 3: up with seven, eight wins, and we.
[36:30] Speaker 2: Don't have our choice of quarterback. I think that's pretty clear.
[36:33] Speaker 3: The cap hit, I mean, the dead money don't matter
[36:36] Speaker 3: if you're not trying to win.
[36:38] Speaker 2: Dead money help you if you're trying to lose.
[36:40] Speaker 1: I think that's all fair. I'm just like, you don't
[36:44] Speaker 1: have a quarterback, but you did have a quarterback. Just
[36:47] Speaker 1: lands a little funny, right? But that's better than being
[36:50] Speaker 1: the Browns that have a million quarterbacks, except they don't.
[36:53] Speaker 1: They don't have a quarterback. The owner has said that
[36:56] Speaker 1: it's possible that Deshaun Watson could be the starter, and
[36:59] Speaker 1: everybody recalled, and I'm like, but it is.
[37:04] Speaker 5: I don't understand why everybody was so mortified by this idea.
[37:08] Speaker 1: Shadur was bad last year. Like, this is not.
[37:12] Speaker 1: I am amazed at the ways in which people try
[37:14] Speaker 1: to talk themselves into he was anything other than bad
[37:17] Speaker 1: last year. Like 10 interceptions for the number of games
[37:20] Speaker 1: that he played in this NFL is almost like throwing
[37:23] Speaker 1: 30 over 16 back in the day. Like, yes, Deshaun
[37:27] Speaker 1: Watson could Hawaii 5'9. He could wind up being the starter.
[37:32] Speaker 3: The reason why Deshaun Watson as a starter doesn't make
[37:37] Speaker 3: sense to me, while I agree with you it's possible,
[37:41] Speaker 3: The Browns aren't, even though they haven't been very successful,
[37:44] Speaker 3: like their decisions been pretty sound with the exception of
[37:49] Speaker 3: the one. Like a lot of their roster construction decisions
[37:53] Speaker 3: were pretty sound, except for the one where Jimmy Haslam
[37:55] Speaker 3: came in and was.
[37:55] Speaker 2: Like, let's get Deshaun Watson a huge contract.
[37:58] Speaker 3: But it doesn't make sense because if Deshaun Watson plays well,
[38:02] Speaker 3: he's on the last year of his deal.
[38:04] Speaker 2: If he plays well, what you going to do? Pay him?
[38:07] Speaker 2: Like you going to pay him again?
[38:08] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[38:09] Speaker 2: Like, that one doesn't make sense.
[38:10] Speaker 3: It's almost like they haven't looked at the end of
[38:13] Speaker 3: the calendar or looked at his contract, which is why
[38:16] Speaker 3: I think that maybe that they just saying that nonsense. Like,
[38:19] Speaker 3: maybe he'll play some, but they really going to put
[38:22] Speaker 3: Gabriel and Sanders out there and give them a shot
[38:25] Speaker 3: to lose a bunch of games so they can get
[38:27] Speaker 3: a quarterback next year or give them a shot to
[38:29] Speaker 3: prove themselves.
[38:30] Speaker 1: Hey, man, Todd Munkin, those of you who don't know
[38:33] Speaker 1: this story. Todd Munkin is the new head coach of
[38:36] Speaker 1: the Cleveland Browns. And every year at the owner's meeting,
[38:38] Speaker 1: they take a group picture with the coaches. And Todd
[38:41] Speaker 1: Munkin missed the picture because Todd Munkin had gone to
[38:47] Speaker 1: get a haircut for the picture. And he was not
[38:51] Speaker 1: there in time for the picture. Now, I have said,
[38:53] Speaker 1: I am sure that there is a wide receiver or
[38:56] Speaker 1: two on his roster who could absolutely relate. to deciding
[38:59] Speaker 1: that the haircut for the picture is actually more important
[39:02] Speaker 1: than the picture itself. My concern for Todd Munkin, I
[39:05] Speaker 1: don't know how important it is for him to be
[39:07] Speaker 1: an NFL head coach, but if it is, I would
[39:09] Speaker 1: think that you would want as many mementos as you
[39:11] Speaker 1: could possibly get. And I would not assume that you'll
[39:14] Speaker 1: just be able to take a picture next year.
[39:16] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[39:16] Speaker 3: I mean, did David Culley miss his opportunity? Was he
[39:20] Speaker 3: getting to shape up when he got his picture taken?
[39:22] Speaker 2: I hope not. I hope young David Culley was, oh,
[39:25] Speaker 2: not young. Old David Culley.
[39:27] Speaker 5: David Culley showed up already ready for that shit. David Culley,
[39:30] Speaker 5: remind me. Remember that brother they made.
[39:32] Speaker 1: The Senator? in Illinois.
[39:35] Speaker 2: Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep.
[39:38] Speaker 1: Yeah, like that's like, hey, they'll be calling me Senator
[39:41] Speaker 1: for the rest of my life.
[39:43] Speaker 2: Yeah, just go ahead and give me them two weeks.
[39:45] Speaker 2: Put my name on there.
[39:46] Speaker 1: My pension just went to a whole nother level.
[39:50] Speaker 3: Grand opening, grand closing. But yeah, I was surprised that
[39:54] Speaker 3: Todd Munkin didn't make it. Also, like, this is like
[39:59] Speaker 3: a part of the culture that I don't know, but
[40:03] Speaker 3: Don't white haircuts last longer? Like, why are you getting
[40:06] Speaker 3: a haircut at the event? Don't you get that before
[40:08] Speaker 3: you come?
[40:09] Speaker 1: That's how you know he really cared about this picture, man. Like,
[40:12] Speaker 1: he just wanted to be, he really wanted to be
[40:15] Speaker 1: sharp with it, right? Like, this was a big thing
[40:18] Speaker 1: for him.
[40:19] Speaker 3: But don't they say, like, this is something I've always
[40:21] Speaker 3: heard white guys say, is that the haircut is best
[40:24] Speaker 3: a week after you get the haircut, right?
[40:26] Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
[40:26] Speaker 3: It's not like us where day one- I got my
[40:30] Speaker 3: hair cut the morning of my wedding because I wanted
[40:32] Speaker 3: it to be extra sharp. They planned a week out,
[40:35] Speaker 3: I thought. It just seemed like.
[40:36] Speaker 1: So you're saying Mike Vrabel got his hair cut 10
[40:39] Speaker 1: days before the owner's meeting because he really needed it
[40:41] Speaker 1: to be right that weekend before?
[40:44] Speaker 2: For the pictures.
[40:46] Speaker 1: To hang out with the homies at the hotel in Arizona.
[40:50] Speaker 2: I thought we was done with this.
[40:52] Speaker 1: I thought we was done.
[40:53] Speaker 2: I was.
[40:54] Speaker 1: I was.
[40:55] Speaker 5: I had walked away. And then I started to wonder.
[40:58] Speaker 5: So when did Mike Frable get his haircut? Or do
[41:00] Speaker 5: he even worry, right? He just gorilla with it. He
[41:03] Speaker 5: just show up as he show up. He might not
[41:05] Speaker 5: even get a shower.
[41:06] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[41:07] Speaker 3: I mean, he gives off that vibe. He's like gives
[41:11] Speaker 3: off hockey player. dirty offensive lineman. I am what I am,
[41:16] Speaker 3: kind of like a bear vibe.
[41:18] Speaker 1: I will say I remember this. When that year was
[41:22] Speaker 1: that Mike Vrabel didn't get a job, Diana had reported
[41:26] Speaker 1: that she had dinner with somebody at the senior bowl
[41:29] Speaker 1: and the general manager was like, well, he don't get
[41:31] Speaker 1: no job because he's such a big intimidating man and
[41:35] Speaker 1: my immediate thought was wow that unnamed source named Mike
[41:38] Speaker 1: Vrabel just offered his theory as to why Mike Vrabel
[41:42] Speaker 1: because who else would say such a thing.
[41:45] Speaker 5: Then it turned out that she came with a report
[41:48] Speaker 5: that said actually Vrabel was hot because Vrabel thought that
[41:51] Speaker 5: she was calling him fat And so she had to
[41:54] Speaker 5: walk it back because Vrabel thought that Diana was reporting
[41:58] Speaker 5: that Vrabel was fat. And that's why the coaches didn't
[42:02] Speaker 5: want to hire him as a coach.
[42:03] Speaker 1: Let me tell you, boy, the internet actually had been
[42:07] Speaker 1: on this hypothesis for quite a while before this actually
[42:13] Speaker 1: came out. I was shocked how many regular people had
[42:17] Speaker 1: theories on this.
[42:18] Speaker 3: I thought the too intimidating to hire was the domain
[42:22] Speaker 3: of the black man. i didn't realize that mike bravo
[42:27] Speaker 3: was bringing that that heat also is that you could
[42:30] Speaker 3: also be too intimidating to hide.
[42:32] Speaker 2: Like i i've heard plenty of guys.
[42:35] Speaker 3: Tell me that something ain't work out like black i
[42:38] Speaker 3: thought i was gonna rob.
[42:39] Speaker 2: The place maybe also you ain't got no.
[42:42] Speaker 1: Degree hey look as as diana said at the time
[42:46] Speaker 1: on the part of my take podcast his hands are
[42:48] Speaker 1: the size.
[42:49] Speaker 2: Of your head But y'all believe, man.
[42:54] Speaker 1: Mike Ray was a big dude, man.
[42:56] Speaker 2: He is.
[42:58] Speaker 1: He's a very large man who.
[43:02] Speaker 2: Man, this is.
[43:04] Speaker 1: This is wild.
[43:05] Speaker 2: It is, man.
[43:06] Speaker 1: It is.
[43:06] Speaker 2: That's all I got.
[43:08] Speaker 3: I believe their stories, and I hope that the truth
[43:11] Speaker 3: comes out and that they are exonerated of the allegations.
[43:16] Speaker 1: Yeah. Hey, man, people around them believe... Her bosses believe
[43:20] Speaker 1: this story. So what we are discussing here is a
[43:23] Speaker 1: wild story.
[43:27] Speaker 2: Unfounded allegations.
[43:29] Speaker 1: Allegations that we have no confirmation of, but allegations that
[43:33] Speaker 1: I am glad that I don't have to explain to
[43:36] Speaker 1: anybody else.
[43:38] Speaker 2: You. I can't imagine. At least the kids is young, man.
[43:44] Speaker 1: You know, like you got to hit this one with a,
[43:46] Speaker 1: I've said what I've said. I have nothing more to
[43:49] Speaker 1: say on this matter.
[43:52] Speaker 2: Oh, God, man. That pit's still there, man. I still
[43:56] Speaker 2: feel terrible. It would be awful. Oh, I feel terrible.
[44:00] Speaker 2: It would be awful.
[44:00] Speaker 1: By the way, draft talk. There we go.
[44:02] Speaker 2: Draft talk.
[44:03] Speaker 1: Shout out to Fernando Mendoza. And I'm sending a shout
[44:06] Speaker 1: out to him because he going to watch the draft
[44:08] Speaker 1: at the crib. I don't know why more guys don't
[44:11] Speaker 1: do that. I would much rather. I think I would
[44:14] Speaker 1: much rather watch the draft at the crib with the homies. Now,
[44:18] Speaker 1: it's a little tricky if you try to get some
[44:20] Speaker 1: homies out of your life. Yeah. then you can't really
[44:22] Speaker 1: do it at the crib. Or you got to be careful.
[44:25] Speaker 1: I think it was Ha Ha Clinton Dix. You can
[44:27] Speaker 1: look at the picture of him watching the draft at
[44:29] Speaker 1: the crib and somebody left something on the couch.
[44:32] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[44:35] Speaker 1: A little party favor.
[44:37] Speaker 2: Oh, I don't remember that. But yeah, good for Ha Ha.
[44:41] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[44:41] Speaker 2: He was ready.
[44:44] Speaker 1: He was ready to celebrate.
[44:45] Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
[44:47] Speaker 3: The one thing about, I guess it depends on who
[44:49] Speaker 3: you are and what you're into.
[44:50] Speaker 1: Oh, hold on right fast. According to Google Gemini, it
[44:54] Speaker 1: is false that HaHa Clinton Diggs had a joint next
[44:56] Speaker 1: to him in a photo shortly before the 2014 draft.
[45:00] Speaker 1: I tell you this, it looked just like a joint.
[45:08] Speaker 3: The night, it's a big moment, man. So I guess
[45:11] Speaker 3: it depends on how you want to celebrate. Do you
[45:13] Speaker 3: want to have a family celebration because the year the
[45:17] Speaker 3: draft was in Vegas?
[45:18] Speaker 1: Yes.
[45:19] Speaker 2: Pretty good place to be after you just became a
[45:21] Speaker 2: first-round draft pick.
[45:22] Speaker 1: Now, that is true. If it was in Vegas, yeah,
[45:25] Speaker 1: I'm probably pulling up to the draft. Look what I
[45:28] Speaker 1: just sent you, by the way. I'm probably pulling up.
[45:30] Speaker 1: But otherwise, like, I love Joe Thomas when he got drafted.
[45:33] Speaker 1: He knew who was going to draft him. Him and
[45:35] Speaker 1: his daddy just went fishing, right? Like, I imagine, Dominique,
[45:39] Speaker 1: I know you went through this because you waited so long.
[45:41] Speaker 1: You ain't waited a long time to get drafted, but
[45:43] Speaker 1: you waited long enough that a white man got drafted
[45:46] Speaker 1: to play quarter before you. and I know that had
[45:48] Speaker 1: to be tough. There's no need to sit around, man.
[45:51] Speaker 1: They'll call you when you get drafted. They'll let you know.
[45:53] Speaker 2: Yeah, but you can't. So, yeah, that definitely looks like
[45:57] Speaker 2: what it looks like. But the.
[46:03] Speaker 3: You can't ignore it man like the thing is they'll
[46:06] Speaker 3: call you but everybody knows on so it's on like
[46:09] Speaker 3: it's not like you could just pretend like it's not
[46:12] Speaker 3: happening so yeah i i remember i wasn't invited to
[46:15] Speaker 3: draft of course i think i was 96 pick 96
[46:19] Speaker 3: just to be clear no i don't wait around it's
[46:21] Speaker 3: not a high pick when you waiting around all day
[46:25] Speaker 3: and people at your house i'll have you know that
[46:27] Speaker 3: is a very low pick at that.
[46:28] Speaker 1: Point was they in there saying dumb shit.
[46:30] Speaker 2: To you No, it's because they knew better.
[46:34] Speaker 1: Okay.
[46:35] Speaker 3: Everyone was trying to pretend like they were just there
[46:38] Speaker 3: for a party. No one expected me to go in
[46:41] Speaker 3: the first round. Once we got through the second round,
[46:44] Speaker 3: it was like, people stopped paying attention. Then we get
[46:47] Speaker 3: to late in the third. That's when we all just
[46:50] Speaker 3: pretended like nothing was happening. And praise be that the
[46:54] Speaker 3: Broncos gave me a call. Because if I had to
[46:56] Speaker 3: wait another day, that was back when first, second, and
[46:58] Speaker 3: third were all on the same day. If I had
[47:00] Speaker 3: to wait another day, that'd have been real rough. Don't
[47:02] Speaker 3: come back over.
[47:04] Speaker 1: By the way, HaHa said he was in a crowded restaurant,
[47:07] Speaker 1: which has absolutely nothing to do with.
[47:10] Speaker 2: Man.
[47:12] Speaker 1: All you got is what? All you got is what
[47:14] Speaker 1: it what? Icy shit about.
[47:16] Speaker 2: What it was. I believe him. It happens all the time.
[47:20] Speaker 3: There are joints laying on booths and crowded restaurants every day.
[47:24] Speaker 2: I see it. I trust him.
[47:27] Speaker 1: Hey, look, man. I'm looking at him like, this actually
[47:33] Speaker 1: made you a little cooler with me. You know what
[47:36] Speaker 1: I'm saying? This is not disqualified. I guess you don't
[47:38] Speaker 1: want to have to go pee tomorrow morning. That... That
[47:41] Speaker 1: part I can understand.
[47:42] Speaker 3: It's a different time in the NFL in general and
[47:45] Speaker 3: the way they felt about those things.
[47:47] Speaker 2: You remember, obviously, the Laramie Tunsil thing.
[47:50] Speaker 3: If that happened, he would not slide down the draft
[47:52] Speaker 3: board in the way that he did where he had
[47:54] Speaker 3: that gas mask full of weed.
[47:55] Speaker 1: Yo, he had the gas mask full of weed, and
[47:58] Speaker 1: then he got out there talking about how he'd be
[48:00] Speaker 1: getting paid.
[48:03] Speaker 2: Oh, that's right. I forgot about that.
[48:06] Speaker 1: He did. Yeah, he had a wild draft night. Like,
[48:10] Speaker 1: whoever it was who did that to him was foul.
[48:13] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's pretty bad. Somebody was, like, trying to blackmail him, right? Yes.
[48:18] Speaker 2: Which is, that's the thing about the blackmail.
[48:21] Speaker 3: It's like, it's, we all gonna lose, but either you
[48:25] Speaker 3: pay me, Well, we all going to lose because he
[48:28] Speaker 3: definitely ain't pay you.
[48:28] Speaker 2: After you put it out.
[48:29] Speaker 1: No, no. You've lost all your leverage.
[48:33] Speaker 2: I don't know.
[48:33] Speaker 3: Like you hold it on until he signed a contract
[48:35] Speaker 3: and say I'm embarrassed.
[48:36] Speaker 2: I don't know.
[48:37] Speaker 1: And also offensive linemen, generally speaking, are good dudes.
[48:41] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[48:41] Speaker 1: Defensive linemen. Rolling the dice. Offensive linemen, generally speaking, good.
[48:47] Speaker 6: Dudes, right?
[48:48] Speaker 5: Like you out here trying to blackmail somebody that people like.
[48:51] Speaker 3: I ain't been in a locker room as much as
[48:53] Speaker 3: I was at one point, but. The archetypes of positions,
[48:58] Speaker 3: that was the realest thing ever. I could pick you out.
[49:02] Speaker 3: I could tell exactly what position you played in high
[49:04] Speaker 3: school based on the way that you carried yourself. I
[49:06] Speaker 3: don't know if it stands up today, but you're right.
[49:09] Speaker 3: There's a very different way the way defensive players, defensive
[49:13] Speaker 3: linemen in particular, carry themselves. And cornerbacks, we're going to
[49:17] Speaker 3: be the loudest in every room, as many dials. as
[49:20] Speaker 3: you can find. The guys who draw the most attention,
[49:23] Speaker 3: very much cornerbacks, even higher than receivers.
[49:25] Speaker 1: Yeah, well, quarterbacks and receivers, same thing in common. Most
[49:27] Speaker 1: of y'all ran track.
[49:30] Speaker 2: I didn't. I should have.
[49:31] Speaker 1: Yeah, I was going to say, inexplicably, right? Like that is,
[49:34] Speaker 1: but like that track behavior coming there, offensive linemen over
[49:37] Speaker 1: there playing Sudoku. You know what I'm saying? They a
[49:42] Speaker 1: different bunch of cats.
[49:44] Speaker 3: They always fishing and hunting. That's the very different vibe.
[49:49] Speaker 3: They pride themselves on how poorly dressed they are. That's
[49:55] Speaker 3: a point of pride. Don't tell them they look nice.
[49:57] Speaker 3: Their feelings will be hurt.
[49:58] Speaker 1: Those are only the closest to a nerd position group.
[50:03] Speaker 1: If Jonathan Ogden had wide receiver talent, I'm not sure
[50:07] Speaker 1: Jonathan Ogden turns into an NFL wide receiver. Nah.
[50:11] Speaker 2: And to be clear, Johnson Ogden, kind of has athletic.
[50:14] Speaker 3: That big motherfucker move, man.
[50:18] Speaker 2: He's unreal.
[50:20] Speaker 1: We got an episode coming up with Nate Tice about
[50:22] Speaker 1: the 2011 draft and somehow we wind up talking about Ogden.
[50:26] Speaker 1: And Ogden, the notion or idea of Ogden, who they
[50:29] Speaker 1: drafted the same draft as Ray Lewis.
[50:31] Speaker 2: The same round.
[50:34] Speaker 3: That's Ozzy's first draft as a GM for the first
[50:37] Speaker 3: year of the Baltimore Ravens.
[50:39] Speaker 1: Yes. There's an argument that Ray Lewis was not the
[50:42] Speaker 1: best player that they took in the first round that year.
[50:44] Speaker 1: And that's not at all shade to Ray Lewis. That's
[50:47] Speaker 1: just how cold Ogden was.
[50:48] Speaker 3: He was the second one taken. They had a choice.
[50:52] Speaker 3: They're like, who we want more?
[50:54] Speaker 1: Bad guy i'd say they were right the best ogden
[50:57] Speaker 1: story this guy named josh lux he wrote this tell-all
[51:00] Speaker 1: book as an agent that seemed kind of like salacious
[51:03] Speaker 1: at the time but now probably goes back and reads
[51:06] Speaker 1: as prophetic and so one of the things that he
[51:08] Speaker 1: talked about was like how you recruited players and so
[51:10] Speaker 1: you'd be out you'd meet them or whatever and you
[51:12] Speaker 1: know you just do a lot of things to try
[51:14] Speaker 1: to woo them and sway them and so one thing
[51:17] Speaker 1: that he did was he was trying to get jonathan
[51:19] Speaker 1: ogden's And so he got front row tickets to a
[51:23] Speaker 1: Janet Jackson concert for Jonathan Ogden. Now, have you ever
[51:26] Speaker 1: been to a Janet Jackson concert?
[51:28] Speaker 2: No, but I mean, I've seen the videos.
[51:30] Speaker 1: So I went to a Janet Jackson concert once, and
[51:33] Speaker 1: it is a very interesting breakdown of who the people
[51:36] Speaker 1: are who attend a Janet Jackson concert. You have straight
[51:41] Speaker 1: women with their homegirls, right? You have straight women with
[51:46] Speaker 1: their dates, right? There's Janet Jackson fans. You have not
[51:50] Speaker 1: straight women and that goes all kinds of directions and
[51:55] Speaker 1: the gay dudes who are there. But there's another interesting
[51:59] Speaker 1: group that doesn't really have a place or a role,
[52:02] Speaker 1: which is straight men who don't have girlfriends, but really
[52:08] Speaker 1: love Janet Jackson. Perhaps it's because you love Janet Jackson's
[52:12] Speaker 1: music or it's just because Janet Jackson. Anyway, Josh Lux.
[52:18] Speaker 1: in his book, said he took Jonathan Ogden to the
[52:21] Speaker 1: Janet Jackson concert and that Jonathan Ogden was down there,
[52:25] Speaker 1: front row, singing those songs at the top of his lungs.
[52:31] Speaker 1: Come on, baby, let's get away. And it's 20-something-year-old Ogden.
[52:37] Speaker 1: It's college Ogden, a big old 6'9, dancing bear of
[52:41] Speaker 1: a dork, singing Jenny Jackson songs at the top of
[52:46] Speaker 1: his lungs, and I need the footage.
[52:49] Speaker 2: I mean, the poor people who were behind him. Oh,
[52:52] Speaker 2: my God.
[52:52] Speaker 3: You are excited about your third row seats at the
[52:56] Speaker 3: Janet Jackson concert.
[52:57] Speaker 2: Yes. It is like obstructive view.
[53:00] Speaker 1: Yes. But you know what, though? You Jonathan Ogden, put
[53:03] Speaker 1: a little mama up on your shoulder. I bet she'd
[53:06] Speaker 1: love it.
[53:07] Speaker 2: Probably. But that is even more obstructive view for the
[53:10] Speaker 2: people behind you. You can't go nowhere at 6'9.
[53:13] Speaker 1: He could have put four of them. on his shoulders
[53:15] Speaker 1: if he wanted to.
[53:16] Speaker 3: I sent you that picture. I assume you've seen it
[53:18] Speaker 3: before of Jonathan. Yeah, he went to high school around here.
[53:22] Speaker 3: Charlie Kravitz. Yeah, but the same school as Charlie Kravitz,
[53:26] Speaker 3: and it's a picture of Jonathan Ogden playing O-line.
[53:29] Speaker 1: This is my favorite picture of all time, and it is,
[53:31] Speaker 1: to me, a friendly reminder. Changing schools to play football... Eh,
[53:41] Speaker 1: I don't know if it's that necessary, right? What you
[53:44] Speaker 1: need to be is big and fast. And if you're
[53:47] Speaker 1: big and fast, we'll.
[53:48] Speaker 2: Work it out.
[53:48] Speaker 1: Because Jonathan Ogden was out there playing against the future
[53:52] Speaker 1: diplomats of America in high school.
[53:54] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a.
[53:57] Speaker 3: The school is a private school that is... And the
[54:00] Speaker 3: funny thing is, the league has gotten a lot more
[54:03] Speaker 3: aggressive about recruiting football players. And my daughter's school is
[54:08] Speaker 3: in that league.
[54:09] Speaker 2: They left it.
[54:10] Speaker 3: From a football standpoint, because it's a small school that's
[54:13] Speaker 3: like very academic focused and they put effort into like
[54:16] Speaker 3: recruiting basketball players, but they can't put together a football
[54:20] Speaker 3: team where the kids won't, won't like get hurt because
[54:24] Speaker 3: it's a small school and it's really hard to find
[54:28] Speaker 3: enough big dudes at a small school that is very
[54:32] Speaker 3: competitive academically that somebody won't get hurt.
[54:35] Speaker 2: So they got to schedule their own games. They don't
[54:36] Speaker 2: really got like a legitimate football team.
[54:39] Speaker 1: They need to be glad Ogden was a nice guy. Right?
[54:44] Speaker 1: Because a different personality type.
[54:47] Speaker 2: Are we sure that some people ain't have to pay?
[54:50] Speaker 2: I'm sure.
[54:51] Speaker 1: I'm sure somebody paid, but I bet he apologized.
[54:54] Speaker 2: Probably.
[54:55] Speaker 3: I'm guessing that some people ain't show up either. I
[54:58] Speaker 3: wouldn't put my kids out there.
[54:59] Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
[55:00] Speaker 1: Like, was this time for us to study film?
[55:03] Speaker 3: Yeah i'm like good you can win that game we're
[55:06] Speaker 3: not this ain't college we don't need the money to
[55:08] Speaker 3: go get beat up by lsu so that we can
[55:10] Speaker 3: fund this program coach.
[55:12] Speaker 1: I forgot to tell you this i don't know if
[55:14] Speaker 1: you knew this but i'm actually an orthodox jew just
[55:20] Speaker 1: this weekend once the sun goes down yeah i just
[55:23] Speaker 1: i just pledged like i just crossed last week Right?
[55:27] Speaker 1: You know, I just started, don't you see me wearing
[55:30] Speaker 1: the colors?
[55:30] Speaker 4: Right?
[55:31] Speaker 1: Do you not see this hat?
[55:32] Speaker 5: Okay.
[55:33] Speaker 1: So things are going to be a little different. And
[55:35] Speaker 1: once the sun go down, I can't be out there
[55:39] Speaker 1: messing with Jonathan. I mean, I got to go inside.
[55:44] Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. I'm spraining my ankle on the opening kickoff.
[55:50] Speaker 1: That's the other part, too. He was probably in there
[55:52] Speaker 1: playing defensive tackle. not fair.
[55:55] Speaker 2: It's impossible.
[55:57] Speaker 3: He was 6'9 in high school at 300 pounds and
[56:00] Speaker 3: more athletic than everybody. That's just not fair. To your point,
[56:04] Speaker 3: football is one of those games. It's not like these
[56:06] Speaker 3: other ones. Even in wrestling, you can only get hurt
[56:09] Speaker 3: so badly.
[56:10] Speaker 2: Football, we keep going. You keep doing it. It's like...
[56:14] Speaker 2: You just keep playing. It's just not fair.
[56:17] Speaker 3: Wrestling, if he really big and strong, he gonna pin me.
[56:19] Speaker 2: It's over. In three seconds. Football, they keep putting these
[56:23] Speaker 2: kids back out.
[56:24] Speaker 3: There against somebody who they just don't belong up against.
[56:28] Speaker 2: It just don't work.
[56:31] Speaker 5: Dominique Fosworth. Check him out on the Dominique Fosworth show.
[56:37] Speaker 5: I can't go back and talk about that other thing again.
[56:40] Speaker 2: No, no.
[56:40] Speaker 1: I just need to protect us in this show right now.
