Bomani Jones breaks down why the New York Knicks suddenly look like a completely different team in the NBA Finals, why they feel inevitable with a 2-0 lead, and why this run is starting to feel a lot bigger than anyone expected. Bo also gives Karl-Anthony Towns his proper credit, arguing that KAT has been the best player on the floor, while pushing back on the easy Victor Wembanyama criticism by explaining how much of his rough night was really about the Knicks’ size, physicality, and defense. From there, Bo and Ryan get into the huge NBA Finals ratings bump, what Victor’s star power means for the league, why the World Cup’s dangerous heat is becoming one of the tournament’s biggest storylines, and why Anthropic’s warning about powerful AI sounds a lot less crazy than people want to admit. [0:01] Speaker 1: Wave. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the right time. A
[0:11] Speaker 1: wave original. My name is Beaumont Jones. Thanks for listening.
[0:15] Speaker 1: Wherever you get your podcast. Thanks for watching us on YouTube. Subscribe,
[0:19] Speaker 1: like rate us, review us, give us five stars. You
[0:21] Speaker 1: only give us four stars. I'm inclined to believe you
[0:24] Speaker 1: are a hater. Uh, obviously we got a lot of
[0:27] Speaker 1: NBA finals talk. We've got the world cup.
[0:29] Speaker 2: Um, I got to say.
[0:32] Speaker 1: My thought was if San Antonio went to Madison Square
[0:35] Speaker 1: Garden down 0-2, it would be a sweep. I would
[0:38] Speaker 1: just like to point out that, granted, it was a
[0:41] Speaker 1: 2-3-2 format, but the Phoenix Suns in 1993 were in
[0:45] Speaker 1: a very similar situation. They actually managed to win two
[0:47] Speaker 1: out of three at Chicago Stadium, and were right there
[0:50] Speaker 1: in it with a chance to win the championship that
[0:52] Speaker 1: year before the John Paxton shot to win the championship there.
[0:58] Speaker 1: Which is to say, on one hand, this series is
[1:01] Speaker 1: not over. On the other hand, fuck out of here.
[1:04] Speaker 1: What am I talking about? It feels pretty over from here. Now,
[1:11] Speaker 1: we did something that I don't necessarily know if it
[1:13] Speaker 1: was great for business, but oh well, we just didn't
[1:15] Speaker 1: feel like working on no Saturday. But we did not
[1:17] Speaker 1: come in with the immediate reaction to the end of
[1:21] Speaker 1: game two. And I don't really know how it would
[1:23] Speaker 1: have gone over if I had jumped in on the
[1:26] Speaker 1: immediate reaction because what I found fascinating about the immediate
[1:30] Speaker 1: reaction was to game two was simply everything that happened
[1:37] Speaker 1: was like a response to some shit that somebody else
[1:40] Speaker 1: has said before that really might not have been particularly
[1:45] Speaker 1: relevant to what is going on at this given moment
[1:48] Speaker 1: in time that appears because we have what the internet
[1:52] Speaker 1: has given us is an uncommon like Rolling tally on
[1:58] Speaker 1: everything everybody has ever said before in their lives.
[2:03] Speaker 2: You know what the internet is like? It's like a PC. Ryan,
[2:07] Speaker 2: are you a PC user?
[2:11] Speaker 3: I am not a PC user.
[2:12] Speaker 2: All right, I'm going to be honest with you.
[2:15] Speaker 1: I voluntarily laid my hands on no PC in 20 years.
[2:20] Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I've had to use them for work occasionally,
[2:23] Speaker 3: but not if I haven't had to.
[2:24] Speaker 2: It's come up.
[2:25] Speaker 1: They used to have a PC in here for me
[2:27] Speaker 1: for work, and I was like, damn, I forgot how
[2:30] Speaker 1: you did that. Like, it's kind of like how it
[2:32] Speaker 1: was one year at Christmas when our microwave broke. It was,
[2:36] Speaker 1: I forget when it was, but I am of that
[2:38] Speaker 1: age where I looked at everybody like, so what are
[2:41] Speaker 1: we going to do now?
[2:42] Speaker 4: Right.
[2:43] Speaker 1: Like, how do you reheat food? I only know how
[2:46] Speaker 1: to do it through pressing buttons. It has never come
[2:48] Speaker 1: up in my life before.
[2:50] Speaker 3: It would take me an embarrassing amount of time to
[2:53] Speaker 3: figure out how to reheat food without a microwave.
[2:55] Speaker 2: Ah, no, you get to it now. Like I've learned.
[2:57] Speaker 1: I've rarely used my microwave for that fashion.
[3:00] Speaker 2: But anyway, I bring that up because of this.
[3:03] Speaker 1: What used to be the story with the PC may
[3:05] Speaker 1: not be the story with the PC right now.
[3:07] Speaker 2: I have no idea.
[3:08] Speaker 1: But you remember how long it used to take for
[3:09] Speaker 1: a PC to crank up every time you.
[3:13] Speaker 2: Used it as it went longer and longer?
[3:14] Speaker 1: The reason was that thing kept the running log of
[3:17] Speaker 1: every keystroke and everything that you had ever done. And
[3:19] Speaker 1: whenever you turned it on, it went back through all
[3:22] Speaker 1: of those things, right? The internet basically does that when
[3:26] Speaker 1: it comes to everything. We're just rolling through all these
[3:28] Speaker 1: tallies of everything that that anybody has ever said, and
[3:31] Speaker 1: you can't really take nothing on its face value right now.
[3:34] Speaker 1: Everything has to be some answer, some shit that some
[3:37] Speaker 1: hater said back in the past. Now, I want to
[3:40] Speaker 1: be very clear that I am not expressing my distaste
[3:44] Speaker 1: for this fact because I may be one of those
[3:47] Speaker 1: people that you're calling a hater from the past. The
[3:49] Speaker 1: reason I have no problem with that is I've been
[3:51] Speaker 1: done got out in front of my shit. I feel
[3:53] Speaker 1: like you deal with evidence as you have it, and
[3:57] Speaker 1: then you go from there. OK, and if things change,
[4:00] Speaker 1: things change. Don't be wedded to whatever it was that
[4:03] Speaker 1: you said before. However, be real about whatever it was
[4:06] Speaker 1: that was said before. Now, all of a sudden, it's
[4:09] Speaker 1: the most amazing thing in the world. Everybody got something
[4:14] Speaker 1: to say about what somebody else had to say about
[4:18] Speaker 1: Carl Anthony Towns. They were saying that he was soft. Now,
[4:22] Speaker 1: some of that stuff is a thing. Because, Ryan, I
[4:24] Speaker 1: wasn't saying that other stuff. You know what I'm saying?
[4:28] Speaker 3: There's a line you don't go to.
[4:29] Speaker 2: No, no, no, no.
[4:30] Speaker 1: When I said that he was an alleged sucker, I
[4:33] Speaker 1: wasn't talking about that.
[4:34] Speaker 2: I was talking about doing dumb shit and getting in
[4:36] Speaker 2: foul trouble.
[4:37] Speaker 5: Right?
[4:38] Speaker 1: Like, did not go in that direction. Now, some of y'all,
[4:41] Speaker 1: some of y'all do.
[4:42] Speaker 2: Have to answer that. Though I do have to.
[4:43] Speaker 1: Say, Carl has had one consistent voice from what I
[4:47] Speaker 1: could tell this postseason, and it has been one with
[4:50] Speaker 1: some base in it, and he sounds like a grown
[4:52] Speaker 1: man in these postgame interviews, and ride this one out, dog.
[4:56] Speaker 1: This has always been the one that works.
[5:00] Speaker 3: Right?
[5:00] Speaker 2: Now, maybe it's not who you are, but Try being this.
[5:05] Speaker 1: Like, it's going. It's rolling. Look, he's been the best
[5:07] Speaker 1: player on the team. I am actually a little blown
[5:09] Speaker 1: away by how many Knicks fans, because you're so wedded
[5:11] Speaker 1: to Jalen Brunson, just don't want to, like, be real
[5:13] Speaker 1: about this fact. He's been that guy. Jalen Brunson may
[5:16] Speaker 1: be the guy that gets the shots for you at
[5:18] Speaker 1: the end of the game, right? And he may be
[5:20] Speaker 1: the most important player for a number of reasons. But, yeah,
[5:22] Speaker 1: we're looking at Karl-Anthony Towns as Finals MVP. I know
[5:27] Speaker 1: I talked a lot about this in the last game,
[5:29] Speaker 1: but I think it's more fun to talk about how
[5:31] Speaker 1: well he's playing than try to say that somebody was
[5:34] Speaker 1: wrong about what they said before.
[5:35] Speaker 3: Correct.
[5:36] Speaker 4: Right.
[5:37] Speaker 2: I've seen the argument made.
[5:39] Speaker 1: It's going to be crazy if he wins the championship
[5:41] Speaker 1: before Jimmy Butler did. That was eight years ago.
[5:45] Speaker 3: Yeah. Buffalo has been on about three different teams since then.
[5:48] Speaker 1: He's been on three different teams since then. He's been
[5:50] Speaker 1: on two teams that went to the finals. Another one
[5:51] Speaker 1: that was basically a shot from getting to the finals. Um, Yes,
[5:56] Speaker 1: not going to lie. Good for Carl if he happens
[5:58] Speaker 1: to do that. It took eight years, or more like
[6:02] Speaker 1: seven and change. But you get my point. This doesn't
[6:04] Speaker 1: have to be about some shit somebody else said. You
[6:06] Speaker 1: remember when Coco Gauff won the U.S. Open and had
[6:09] Speaker 1: the whole dedication to the haters?
[6:10] Speaker 3: Yes.
[6:11] Speaker 1: And I did a year-in-review show with some young women
[6:17] Speaker 1: that year. I think they were in their 20s at
[6:19] Speaker 1: the time. And they all talked about how much they
[6:21] Speaker 1: loved that. And it made me sad. I was like, damn,
[6:26] Speaker 1: you just won the U.S.
[6:27] Speaker 4: Open.
[6:27] Speaker 1: Are you out here thinking about Johnny 3, 5, 2, 4, 6, 7,
[6:30] Speaker 1: 3 and one third on Twitter or whatever it was? Like,
[6:34] Speaker 1: is this what we're doing? No. So much analysis that
[6:36] Speaker 1: I've seen about this. And granted, I'm looking at it
[6:39] Speaker 1: on the Internet where people go to be miserable. But
[6:41] Speaker 1: it's wild how much of like what we have going
[6:44] Speaker 1: on right now standing on its own is so dope.
[6:47] Speaker 1: Or you could put it in terms that we usually
[6:49] Speaker 1: put it in with guys like this, which is Carl
[6:50] Speaker 1: Anthony Towns got better.
[6:52] Speaker 3: Right.
[6:52] Speaker 1: Which is the things that he was doing as recently
[6:55] Speaker 1: as two years ago in the playoffs. He's not doing anymore.
[7:00] Speaker 1: Last year, I will never forget Stan Van Gundy on
[7:02] Speaker 1: some late game possession while Carl was still playing good
[7:05] Speaker 1: was like, hey, man, I think you might want to
[7:06] Speaker 1: get this guy out of the game so he doesn't
[7:07] Speaker 1: commit a stupid foul. Because he did so much dumb stuff.
[7:13] Speaker 1: None of that is happening anymore.
[7:15] Speaker 4: Right?
[7:15] Speaker 1: Like, and to be fair to him, I think this
[7:17] Speaker 1: is a part that I probably didn't give him enough
[7:19] Speaker 1: credit for because he's been in the league now for
[7:22] Speaker 1: 11 years. I want to say he's just 30 or
[7:26] Speaker 1: something like that.
[7:26] Speaker 3: That's wild.
[7:27] Speaker 1: Yeah, like there's a process. Olajuwon did not really become
[7:30] Speaker 1: Olajuwon in that way until he was early 30s.
[7:34] Speaker 5: Right?
[7:34] Speaker 1: Like, maybe part of it is just because these guys
[7:36] Speaker 1: get in so young or whatever it is. But what
[7:38] Speaker 1: I think is the cool thing right now about the Knicks,
[7:41] Speaker 1: they are not the team that they were during the
[7:42] Speaker 1: regular season. During the regular season, man, the things that
[7:45] Speaker 1: people were saying but not out loud about what they
[7:48] Speaker 1: were going to have to do and the fingers pointing
[7:49] Speaker 1: at everybody else. Mikael Bridges looks like a completely different
[7:52] Speaker 1: player than he.
[7:53] Speaker 2: Did two months ago. Jalen Brunson is not playing well
[7:57] Speaker 2: and it doesn't.
[7:58] Speaker 1: Matter because everybody else has pulled up and now they
[8:02] Speaker 1: are up 2-0. Coming back home. What could mess this
[8:08] Speaker 1: up for them? How in the world could this not roll? Like,
[8:11] Speaker 1: this feels like it should be a sweep.
[8:14] Speaker 3: Right.
[8:16] Speaker 1: But... Bad vibes are on the way. Bad juju is coming.
[8:25] Speaker 1: Do we know where bad juju gonna be sitting? Is
[8:27] Speaker 1: he in a box or is he gonna be on
[8:28] Speaker 1: the floor?
[8:29] Speaker 3: I feel like he has to be in a box. Like.
[8:34] Speaker 1: I feel like I think the best argument for him
[8:37] Speaker 1: having to be on the box is that would be
[8:39] Speaker 1: taking money out of somebody's pocket.
[8:41] Speaker 4: Right.
[8:42] Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? But is it on the board? Oh, no,
[8:45] Speaker 2: he can't be there.
[8:45] Speaker 1: So Zoran said he bought his own ticket for a
[8:50] Speaker 1: game three. He said he bought his own seat, which
[8:52] Speaker 1: means Zoran.
[8:54] Speaker 2: On one level.
[8:54] Speaker 4: Oh, cool.
[8:55] Speaker 2: Zoran going to be all the way at the top.
[8:56] Speaker 2: On the other level, he's not that tall. He'll be perfect.
[9:00] Speaker 3: He'll be fine.
[9:02] Speaker 2: I don't even know if his feet gonna hit.
[9:04] Speaker 1: The ground, right? He'll be up there, right? But bad
[9:10] Speaker 1: vibes are on the way. They say you gotta get
[9:13] Speaker 1: to the arena two hours early. They not gonna have
[9:16] Speaker 1: to watch party outside. And I really feel bad for
[9:20] Speaker 1: those people who can't go to the watch party outside
[9:23] Speaker 1: because I've seen a lot of these right outside the
[9:25] Speaker 1: arena watch parties. I look at them and this is
[9:28] Speaker 1: going to be tough because now these cats might have
[9:30] Speaker 1: to go watch a game somewhere where there's some girls.
[9:35] Speaker 1: They nervous as hell right now. I've been waiting to
[9:44] Speaker 1: get that one off.
[9:45] Speaker 3: It really is just so many dudes. I mean, dude,
[9:50] Speaker 3: it's fair. They look like they're having a great time.
[9:52] Speaker 2: They do.
[9:52] Speaker 3: Especially in the post game. If they take the wide
[9:55] Speaker 3: shot before they like go in on the one guy. Yes.
[9:58] Speaker 3: All dudes.
[9:59] Speaker 2: All dudes. It's wall to wall dudes.
[10:04] Speaker 1: I'm trying to think what it would take or what
[10:06] Speaker 1: it would have to be to be more dudes.
[10:08] Speaker 2: And to be fair to them, it's not their fault
[10:12] Speaker 2: that it's all dudes.
[10:13] Speaker 6: Right. Right.
[10:14] Speaker 1: It's the women who look at that crowd and are like,
[10:17] Speaker 1: you want to go somewhere else?
[10:19] Speaker 3: Literally anywhere else.
[10:20] Speaker 6: Right.
[10:20] Speaker 2: Like, I don't think these guys would run away.
[10:22] Speaker 3: For so many reasons.
[10:23] Speaker 1: Yeah, like, I don't think these guys would run away. Like, ew, gross.
[10:26] Speaker 2: Girls have cooties. I don't think that's what it is.
[10:29] Speaker 1: But I do think a couple of ladies who might
[10:31] Speaker 1: have thought about coming pulled up there and were like, shit,
[10:33] Speaker 1: is the 40-40 club still open?
[10:36] Speaker 3: Where's the bathroom? Nowhere? Okay, then let's go literally anywhere else.
[10:40] Speaker 2: Yeah, let's mix this.
[10:41] Speaker 1: But nobody seems happy about the fact that Trump is
[10:44] Speaker 1: pulling up to this just because it seems like it's
[10:46] Speaker 1: going to make things really inconvenient about going to a
[10:49] Speaker 1: venue that, if nothing else, is wildly convenient. It's crazy
[10:53] Speaker 1: convenient even if you don't live in Manhattan, even if
[10:56] Speaker 1: you don't live in the city of New York, because
[10:59] Speaker 1: it's right there at Penn Station.
[11:00] Speaker 2: It's really easy to get there. So now he's pulling up.
[11:04] Speaker 1: Don't nobody want him to be there and see... This
[11:07] Speaker 1: is where Dolan messing up. Dolan is messing up because
[11:14] Speaker 1: it's been real easy to forget about him.
[11:16] Speaker 3: Yes.
[11:17] Speaker 1: Now you can't quite forget about him because it's just
[11:22] Speaker 1: going to be a big old giant hassle. I will
[11:26] Speaker 1: also point out that like. Times is kind of hard
[11:30] Speaker 1: out here in these streets. Now, to be fair. I
[11:34] Speaker 1: don't know how hard those times are for the people
[11:36] Speaker 1: that are going to be at this expensive-ass game.
[11:38] Speaker 3: Fair.
[11:39] Speaker 2: It's the salad days for them. I had a.
[11:43] Speaker 1: Talk with someone with whom I do some work about
[11:45] Speaker 1: my finances. I'm trying to make that sound a little
[11:48] Speaker 1: bit less 1%-y, but you understand what I mean.
[11:50] Speaker 2: I was talking to him.
[11:51] Speaker 1: He was like, yeah, I don't know about this economy, but,
[11:53] Speaker 1: you know, for people with money, it's great times.
[11:57] Speaker 3: I mean, like, I think what's the final count of
[12:00] Speaker 3: what the nosebleeds are for Madison Square?
[12:02] Speaker 6: 13K? Yeah.
[12:03] Speaker 2: I think so.
[12:04] Speaker 1: To be fair, though, those people don't plan to sell
[12:08] Speaker 1: those tickets. I think that's the part that people misunderstand.
[12:11] Speaker 2: About those sale prices.
[12:13] Speaker 4: Right.
[12:14] Speaker 1: Those are people who really want to go to this game.
[12:17] Speaker 3: Right.
[12:17] Speaker 1: Like if some way you got access to these seats,
[12:20] Speaker 1: you really want.
[12:21] Speaker 2: To go to this game.
[12:21] Speaker 1: I don't think you're going to convince me that anybody
[12:23] Speaker 1: is paying $ 13, 000 to sit up there with Richie Guerin.
[12:26] Speaker 1: and Dick Barnett and Willis Reed, right? Like, I don't
[12:30] Speaker 1: think anybody's doing that. I do think there are people
[12:33] Speaker 1: with seats that high who are saying, the only way
[12:36] Speaker 1: I'm going to miss this game is if you give
[12:38] Speaker 1: me $ 15, 000. Like, now we got to think about it.
[12:41] Speaker 1: This comes up every year with Carolina Duke, where people
[12:44] Speaker 1: get offered these crazy amounts of money and they finally
[12:46] Speaker 1: got a chance to go to the game and they say, no,
[12:48] Speaker 1: we're going to go to the game, right? I think
[12:50] Speaker 1: that's what, those are sale prices that are individually being set.
[12:54] Speaker 2: These are not the prices that are being set by
[12:55] Speaker 2: Madison Square Garden.
[12:57] Speaker 3: Right?
[12:57] Speaker 1: So, no, I don't, I don't, I think that if
[13:00] Speaker 1: somebody really wanted to move them seats, you get in
[13:02] Speaker 1: about five minutes before the game, you might be able
[13:04] Speaker 1: to get in for five Gs or something like that.
[13:06] Speaker 3: Maybe.
[13:06] Speaker 1: But people go try. Right? They're going to give it
[13:10] Speaker 1: a go. I understand this. That's like, that's what it's
[13:13] Speaker 1: going to be. It's going to be crazy loud in there.
[13:19] Speaker 1: I don't, I don't, assuming everybody gets in on time
[13:22] Speaker 1: because they got to go through and check their bags.
[13:24] Speaker 3: I mean, they're telling people get there two hours before.
[13:27] Speaker 3: That is... It's like an international flight. Yes.
[13:32] Speaker 2: That's what this game has become.
[13:34] Speaker 1: I tell you this, though. It's going to take a
[13:37] Speaker 1: lot more than that to get these people to not
[13:38] Speaker 1: be as crunked up as one could imagine.
[13:42] Speaker 3: Right?
[13:42] Speaker 2: Like, it's going.
[13:43] Speaker 3: That's the thing that's crazy. It's like, if you got
[13:45] Speaker 3: to get there two hours before, you know what people
[13:47] Speaker 3: are going to... I hope they... You know what people
[13:50] Speaker 3: are going to do for two hours? Buy a bunch
[13:52] Speaker 3: of alcohol.
[13:53] Speaker 7: Yeah, they are.
[13:54] Speaker 1: They are.
[13:54] Speaker 2: They are.
[13:55] Speaker 3: They are.
[13:55] Speaker 1: And look, man, we don't We don't have any precedent,
[13:58] Speaker 1: I don't feel like, in the NBA.
[14:00] Speaker 7: No.
[14:01] Speaker 1: For something like this. Like, this is the equivalent of, like,
[14:06] Speaker 1: 2016 Cubs. Not the exact same, but it might as
[14:09] Speaker 1: well be. The difference in application between 50 years and
[14:13] Speaker 1: 100 years really isn't that much.
[14:15] Speaker 3: Right?
[14:16] Speaker 2: And this is not... Maybe the.
[14:17] Speaker 1: Closest to this is the Cleveland baseball team having not
[14:21] Speaker 1: won a championship since 1948.
[14:22] Speaker 2: It had been so long. they had the second black
[14:26] Speaker 2: person on the team. And it was the.
[14:29] Speaker 1: Satchel Paige was on the team. That's how long ago
[14:33] Speaker 1: it was since they had won anything.
[14:36] Speaker 3: Right?
[14:37] Speaker 1: New York, it feel the same for the Knicks. It
[14:40] Speaker 1: might as well. And in fact, remember that. When the
[14:42] Speaker 1: Cubs won, they were playing against Cleveland.
[14:44] Speaker 6: Right.
[14:45] Speaker 2: It was more or less.
[14:47] Speaker 1: The same situation.
[14:48] Speaker 2: It's going to be there. This has been a great team.
[14:52] Speaker 3: Great.
[14:52] Speaker 2: I think that.
[14:54] Speaker 1: That I had asked the question, like, so what's it
[14:56] Speaker 1: going to take for people to like jump off board
[14:58] Speaker 1: with the Knicks for this run that they've been on?
[14:59] Speaker 1: And it hasn't come up.
[15:01] Speaker 5: We don't have the answer for what it would take.
[15:03] Speaker 1: And by the way, it's going to take a lot
[15:04] Speaker 1: more than one. I mean, it's going to take so
[15:08] Speaker 1: much more than that. And this is, look, even after
[15:11] Speaker 1: they almost blew game two, and let's not get it twisted,
[15:15] Speaker 1: they almost blew that game. Like Jalen Brunson still hit
[15:19] Speaker 1: the shot late that they needed, but they nearly blew that.
[15:22] Speaker 1: Carl went back to committing stupid fouls, right? Like it
[15:25] Speaker 1: was a lot that went on at the end of
[15:27] Speaker 1: that game. And still nobody's thinking about it like that.
[15:30] Speaker 1: They're just like, yeah, man, we the next, baby. We
[15:32] Speaker 1: find a way to win. Where the fuck y'all stop?
[15:34] Speaker 2: Where did y'all find that?
[15:36] Speaker 1: What, has it just been under the couch cushion the
[15:39] Speaker 1: whole time?
[15:40] Speaker 2: And you just couldn't find it for 50 years? Oh, shit,
[15:42] Speaker 2: there you go, right there. Man, my bad. I should
[15:45] Speaker 2: have just asked somebody to help me look for it, right?
[15:47] Speaker 2: Maybe that's what they needed.
[15:48] Speaker 1: They needed all five dudes to get in there.
[15:51] Speaker 2: And find a way to figure it out. But no,
[15:53] Speaker 2: this is.
[15:57] Speaker 1: This to me is a story of something that you
[16:01] Speaker 1: don't really see that much in the NBA. I would
[16:05] Speaker 1: actually argue, and it seems maybe crazy to say it
[16:07] Speaker 1: this way, but it is the 2004 and 2014 become
[16:14] Speaker 1: the best examples of this, of just like college has
[16:17] Speaker 1: a bunch of like really good teams, right? Where you
[16:19] Speaker 1: just have this, where it's like, who's the best guy?
[16:21] Speaker 1: That isn't really the answer to the question. It's just
[16:23] Speaker 1: a collection of dudes and how well they play together.
[16:25] Speaker 1: You don't really see that in the NBA. That's not
[16:27] Speaker 1: really how the NBA works. The 2014 Spurs don't seem
[16:31] Speaker 1: like that, but it's like Kawhi before he gets there.
[16:33] Speaker 1: Tony Parker, middle age. Milo Ginobili, middle age. Tim Duncan,
[16:37] Speaker 1: certified old. If you watch that team, that had nothing
[16:40] Speaker 1: to do with them having one superstar. Maybe it was
[16:41] Speaker 1: a level of experience, but they was moving the ball
[16:44] Speaker 1: and it always got to where it needed to be
[16:46] Speaker 1: and everything was straight.
[16:48] Speaker 2: Those are these Knicks.
[16:50] Speaker 1: It's actually the kind of team that New York would
[16:51] Speaker 1: appreciate and the kind of team that New York likes.
[16:54] Speaker 2: This is what they've got. They came out unscathed.
[16:57] Speaker 1: If they win this game three, I don't know what
[17:00] Speaker 1: Thursday night is going to be like in this city.
[17:02] Speaker 1: Because if they win game three, I don't think San
[17:04] Speaker 1: Antonio got nearly enough to think about doing anything in
[17:07] Speaker 1: game four. If they win this game three, don't let
[17:10] Speaker 1: them blow them out in game three, which is on
[17:12] Speaker 1: the board, right? Like, we'll get to the Spurs, but
[17:15] Speaker 1: they say it all the right things. But everything is
[17:17] Speaker 1: on the table for them to get their asses kicked.
[17:20] Speaker 2: Out here.
[17:21] Speaker 6: Right.
[17:21] Speaker 3: And the thing that's shocking to me about the Knicks
[17:24] Speaker 3: is they're starting to feel inevitable. Once that game two
[17:29] Speaker 3: was closed in the second quarter, like they didn't get
[17:31] Speaker 3: blown out from the jump. I was like, they're going
[17:34] Speaker 3: to pull this off.
[17:35] Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, so I felt like they were. And then
[17:37] Speaker 1: the Spurs came back and they, you know what? Let's
[17:40] Speaker 1: just go ahead to, and the Spurs had a chance,
[17:42] Speaker 1: but dot, dot, dot.
[17:49] Speaker 3: Okay.
[17:50] Speaker 1: The reason I decided to wait to talk about the Spurs,
[17:54] Speaker 1: and Ryan, you tell me if I'm wrong here. I
[17:56] Speaker 1: just felt like all the discussion was just a bunch
[17:58] Speaker 1: of people who had been waiting for their chance to
[18:00] Speaker 1: be haters.
[18:01] Speaker 3: Definitely a little bit.
[18:03] Speaker 1: We learned with the Chet situation, the streets respond to
[18:06] Speaker 1: the hatred way more than they do to the love,
[18:09] Speaker 1: which is why this may become a YouTube breakout that
[18:12] Speaker 1: gets released on Sunday afternoon.
[18:14] Speaker 2: But it is, I just, I didn't feel right.
[18:17] Speaker 1: You know, with Chet, we didn't do, but we did
[18:19] Speaker 1: break it out. Okay, so we are that which we despise.
[18:23] Speaker 1: A little bit.
[18:25] Speaker 2: I'm torn, man. I'm torn, man.
[18:26] Speaker 1: Baby got to eat.
[18:27] Speaker 2: You understand what I'm saying? That's what it is.
[18:30] Speaker 1: That ending in San Antonio was... shall we say, interesting.
[18:35] Speaker 1: They'll get no credit for the comeback, right? Everything about
[18:38] Speaker 1: game two has been through the lens of what Victor
[18:41] Speaker 1: Wimpenyama did not do. Did not play well in the
[18:46] Speaker 1: first half. And looking back on it, man, it was
[18:50] Speaker 1: great defense by the Knicks.
[18:51] Speaker 3: Right. Right.
[18:52] Speaker 1: It wasn't like he was running away from the ball.
[18:55] Speaker 1: The ball wasn't getting to him. I think the biggest
[18:58] Speaker 1: misnomer of this, and I'm big on this too, is, man,
[19:01] Speaker 1: why won't you go into the paint? I don't think
[19:03] Speaker 1: that Victor's averse to going to the paint. I don't
[19:06] Speaker 1: think he's opposed to getting to the paint, but it's
[19:08] Speaker 1: big guys over there not letting it happen.
[19:11] Speaker 3: Right.
[19:11] Speaker 5: Right.
[19:11] Speaker 1: Like there is such a strength advantage on the front
[19:15] Speaker 1: line from the Knicks that for Victor to get there
[19:18] Speaker 1: requires him to do these kind of post moves that
[19:21] Speaker 1: seem to take forever.
[19:22] Speaker 2: Because he's so long. Right.
[19:25] Speaker 6: Right.
[19:26] Speaker 1: So I don't think it's a matter of him, like,
[19:28] Speaker 1: not being willing to go down there. And I think
[19:30] Speaker 1: he winds up taking these threes in part because he
[19:34] Speaker 1: feels like you got to get out there.
[19:35] Speaker 2: And take a shot.
[19:38] Speaker 1: But I did not think of, I mean, and don't
[19:40] Speaker 1: get me wrong, Towns and Ananobi were putting a hurt
[19:44] Speaker 1: to him on defense, right? The thing that's gotten me
[19:47] Speaker 1: with people like I think are getting revisionist about Carl
[19:50] Speaker 1: Towns and they're like, man, you know, you guys said
[19:52] Speaker 1: he spent too much time on the perimeter, but that's
[19:54] Speaker 1: why he's doing so well.
[19:56] Speaker 2: I disagree with that.
[19:57] Speaker 1: I think his ability to play on the perimeter is
[19:59] Speaker 1: a big part of it. But the biggest reason that
[20:01] Speaker 1: he's doing so well is he's so goddamn big, which
[20:04] Speaker 1: is the part that the other people, including me, had
[20:06] Speaker 1: been saying. You're too big to relegate yourself to standing
[20:11] Speaker 1: out on the perimeter, which I want to be clear
[20:13] Speaker 1: is the same point that people are making about Victor.
[20:16] Speaker 1: The difference is what you're saying about Victor is not
[20:20] Speaker 1: that he's too big to be standing on the perimeter.
[20:22] Speaker 1: You're saying that he's too tall to be standing on
[20:25] Speaker 1: the perimeter and he is tall, man. The reason that
[20:29] Speaker 1: he's having trouble with Towns and again, OG, who is 6'7,
[20:33] Speaker 1: is because they are big. And so when Carl puts
[20:36] Speaker 1: the ball on the dribble and gets a little bit
[20:39] Speaker 1: past him and he turns that shoulder, there's nothing Victor
[20:42] Speaker 1: can do. Just about everybody else, the guys that aren't
[20:44] Speaker 1: that big, he can play from behind and pitch they shit, right?
[20:48] Speaker 1: He can't do that with Towns. Towns is 260 or
[20:50] Speaker 1: 270 pounds. There's like, at least appears to be in
[20:53] Speaker 1: that zone.
[20:54] Speaker 2: He can't do nothing with him on that front.
[20:57] Speaker 1: That's where it's like, no, the issue with Towns, if
[21:00] Speaker 1: Towns had played with what appears to be this level
[21:02] Speaker 1: of toughness and this level of physical resolve, he wouldn't
[21:05] Speaker 1: have been saying that stuff we said about him before.
[21:07] Speaker 1: But it gets us back to Victor where he's not
[21:10] Speaker 1: going to be able to get himself down to the
[21:12] Speaker 1: places that people want him to get. The question is
[21:15] Speaker 1: why Mitch Johnson is not figuring out a way to
[21:18] Speaker 1: get him or get the ball there or whatever it is.
[21:21] Speaker 1: They don't seem to be doing anything. And you let
[21:23] Speaker 1: me know if I'm wrong here. I think Mike Brown
[21:26] Speaker 1: seems to be doing an excellent job. I don't see
[21:29] Speaker 1: Mitch Johnson doing anything schematically to make things easier for
[21:33] Speaker 1: his best player. And he needs to, because as we
[21:37] Speaker 1: talked about last show, what is interesting about these teams
[21:40] Speaker 1: is the guys that get out here and play for
[21:42] Speaker 1: both teams are clustered around the same age. And I
[21:45] Speaker 1: believe that median age for the Spurs is like 22
[21:48] Speaker 1: or 23. And that median age for the Knicks is
[21:51] Speaker 1: like 28 or 29. Right.
[21:54] Speaker 3: Right?
[21:54] Speaker 2: Like, that's a big difference.
[21:55] Speaker 1: I made a bit of a mistake last show where
[21:57] Speaker 1: I talked about the Knicks didn't have guys that had
[21:58] Speaker 1: been this far.
[21:59] Speaker 2: It's not true. Mikael Bridges has.
[22:01] Speaker 1: You can put OG out there, but OG was hurt
[22:03] Speaker 1: for most of that run in 2019, as I recall it.
[22:07] Speaker 2: But either way it goes, they got bigger dudes.
[22:11] Speaker 1: You're going to have to figure out a way to
[22:14] Speaker 1: help Carl Anthony, I mean, not him, Victor Wimbanyama, get
[22:17] Speaker 1: to the shots that are easy, right? The expectation that he,
[22:20] Speaker 1: at this point in his career, is just going to
[22:22] Speaker 1: be able to do that, no, no.
[22:25] Speaker 3: No one that young has consistent, like, go-to moves late,
[22:30] Speaker 3: you know.
[22:30] Speaker 1: Yeah, but even, forget about go-to moves.
[22:33] Speaker 2: He's too spindly, sinewy, lanky, right? To just think, okay, well,
[22:39] Speaker 2: what he's going to do is he's going.
[22:40] Speaker 1: To muscle Mitchell Robinson to make him give him space. Oh,
[22:44] Speaker 1: that's not going to happen. So how are you going
[22:47] Speaker 1: to figure this out? Like what got me on that
[22:48] Speaker 1: last play of the game where he missed that shot.
[22:51] Speaker 1: There's no way that to me you should have been
[22:53] Speaker 1: playing for a pick and pop under that circumstance because
[22:56] Speaker 1: I don't think you want him taking that shot. I'd
[22:58] Speaker 1: much rather Fox take that shot.
[23:00] Speaker 4: Right.
[23:00] Speaker 2: Then him.
[23:03] Speaker 1: I would have thought that off that screen, a hard
[23:05] Speaker 1: role and people have said, well, they the Knicks had
[23:07] Speaker 1: all those people in there. That's fine. Let them have
[23:10] Speaker 1: all those people in there. Let them all look at Victor.
[23:13] Speaker 1: And then we get the ball or one of these
[23:14] Speaker 1: other guys who should be able.
[23:15] Speaker 2: To make a shot.
[23:16] Speaker 3: Or, you know, or someone fouls. You're sending them to
[23:20] Speaker 3: the line.
[23:21] Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, how many of them can get high
[23:23] Speaker 1: enough to do something?
[23:23] Speaker 2: Like, it's all those questions.
[23:25] Speaker 1: I don't know. But I thought that the play there
[23:28] Speaker 1: should have been a hard roll rather than, well, let's
[23:30] Speaker 1: play it for him to take an elbow jumper. But
[23:32] Speaker 1: we've seen when it's come time for big shots, what
[23:34] Speaker 1: they clearly think is his spot is like an elbow jumper.
[23:37] Speaker 4: Right.
[23:38] Speaker 3: Right.
[23:39] Speaker 4: And that.
[23:40] Speaker 2: No, I agree.
[23:40] Speaker 1: You don't want it to be that, but you're going
[23:43] Speaker 1: to have to figure out with this guy a way
[23:45] Speaker 1: to get him better shots. The other thing that's happening
[23:47] Speaker 1: with them is interesting. Dylan Harper, who, he's going to
[23:51] Speaker 1: be that guy. and he's still 20 years old and
[23:54] Speaker 1: has moments where he looks like that and does those things.
[23:57] Speaker 1: What I love about his game is sometimes I rhyme slow,
[24:01] Speaker 1: sometimes I rhyme fast. He can play at whatever speed
[24:05] Speaker 1: is necessary, and you can't quite tell which one it's
[24:07] Speaker 1: going to be.
[24:08] Speaker 2: The XL, DSL game is strong.
[24:12] Speaker 1: I think we see a lot of guys that have
[24:13] Speaker 1: strong DSL, guys with strong XL, not that many that
[24:17] Speaker 1: have both in the way that he has the two
[24:19] Speaker 1: of them. That's been great, but he's still like crazy young.
[24:22] Speaker 1: Stephon Castle, that's the guy that's doing the James Harden
[24:26] Speaker 1: 2012 impression. Like not all the way in there, but
[24:29] Speaker 1: we saw that early in the last series and we've
[24:32] Speaker 1: seen it here that he's 21 years old, man. And
[24:36] Speaker 1: sometimes that moment's going to feel a little bit big
[24:39] Speaker 1: to him. Those cats like Vassell and Sham Pipple, they
[24:41] Speaker 1: very clearly understand what they're here to do. shoot went
[24:45] Speaker 1: open yes and they seem to do pretty well um
[24:49] Speaker 1: when it comes to that but no we're not at
[24:51] Speaker 1: a point in the victor game where he's just going
[24:53] Speaker 1: to decide where he's at the point and what we
[24:55] Speaker 1: saw that in game one of the last series where
[24:57] Speaker 1: he can be that dude like everything can line up
[24:59] Speaker 1: and he can make it happen but hey you're just
[25:02] Speaker 1: gonna jump on my back and we're gonna make it
[25:03] Speaker 1: happen you can't count.
[25:06] Speaker 3: On what you make of the late turnover as they're
[25:09] Speaker 3: going up the floor.
[25:10] Speaker 1: So somebody who was at the arena told me that
[25:12] Speaker 1: what you needed to look for was that Mitch Johnson
[25:15] Speaker 1: told him to push it.
[25:16] Speaker 3: Really?
[25:17] Speaker 2: And then everybody kind of freaked out.
[25:19] Speaker 1: I mean, Castle looked for the ball, and then Victor tried.
[25:23] Speaker 1: We're in a weird world where we're asking, why did
[25:26] Speaker 1: the 7'5 guy try to give the ball to a guard?
[25:29] Speaker 3: Yes.
[25:30] Speaker 2: I don't really understand why you would do such a thing.
[25:32] Speaker 1: I would have tried to play for a transition basket.
[25:35] Speaker 1: I've seen people say he should have called a timeout.
[25:36] Speaker 1: Hell no, he shouldn't have called a timeout.
[25:38] Speaker 2: Get it back. They're not set.
[25:42] Speaker 3: Jalen and Cat are still on the floor.
[25:44] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. It was an unfortunate play, and then it
[25:47] Speaker 1: led to the foul. But they still had a chance afterward, right? Like,
[25:51] Speaker 1: it was a moment that looked bad. It did not
[25:55] Speaker 1: lose them the game. Maybe it lost them the chance
[25:58] Speaker 1: to go to overtime. But I don't know. I mean,
[26:02] Speaker 1: I don't know. I just thought, I thought what that
[26:05] Speaker 1: was was people's opportunity to to get their jokes off, right?
[26:11] Speaker 1: Like that's really what it came down to.
[26:16] Speaker 2: It was their chance.
[26:17] Speaker 1: Built a dude up two weeks ago. All it was
[26:20] Speaker 1: was two weeks. I saw somebody on the internet again.
[26:22] Speaker 1: They're like, you know, this is the thing I was
[26:24] Speaker 1: talking about before where everything is about what would have
[26:26] Speaker 1: happened otherwise.
[26:28] Speaker 2: Man, what would we have said if LeBron had done that?
[26:31] Speaker 2: Why are we talking about him?
[26:33] Speaker 1: Number one. Number two, I was here for it, okay?
[26:37] Speaker 1: Year four, LeBron in the NBA finals did not play well.
[26:43] Speaker 1: You ever hear anybody talk about it? Pretty rarely.
[26:46] Speaker 3: It was a long time ago.
[26:47] Speaker 1: No, but even then, it wasn't... When we were killing
[26:51] Speaker 1: him for 2010 and 2011, nobody was taking.
[26:54] Speaker 2: It back to 2007.
[26:56] Speaker 6: Right?
[26:56] Speaker 3: Like, no.
[26:58] Speaker 1: He simply wasn't good in that series. It wasn't that
[27:01] Speaker 1: big a deal. Now, year seven and year eight.
[27:05] Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. We were on his neck, okay?
[27:10] Speaker 1: I would also argue that year seven and year eight,
[27:12] Speaker 1: when it went bad in the playoffs, he played worse
[27:15] Speaker 1: than Victor played in game two. By far played worse
[27:18] Speaker 1: than Victor. 2011 NBA Finals, LeBron James was awful.
[27:22] Speaker 3: It's interesting because he didn't, I don't think he had
[27:25] Speaker 3: a signature moment, like a signature gaffe. But he just looked,
[27:30] Speaker 3: had the deer in the headlights for two hours.
[27:32] Speaker 4: Oh, no, no.
[27:32] Speaker 1: He had the signature gaffe. It was being guarded in
[27:35] Speaker 1: the post by J.J. Beret.
[27:37] Speaker 2: Fair.
[27:38] Speaker 1: That's the part that you just knew it was over.
[27:40] Speaker 2: It was all the way over. I mean, there's a
[27:42] Speaker 2: lot to it.
[27:43] Speaker 1: I think there's an argument that it humanized LeBron in
[27:46] Speaker 1: a way because I just think the stress of that
[27:47] Speaker 1: year had gotten to be too much. But ultimately, it
[27:53] Speaker 1: was worse than anything we saw from game two.
[27:57] Speaker 2: Is what I'm saying.
[27:58] Speaker 1: But when he was 22, we weren't killing him for
[28:01] Speaker 1: not playing well in that game. Larry Bird did not
[28:06] Speaker 1: win NBA Finals MVP in 1981. He did not have
[28:10] Speaker 1: a great finals that year. Magic would not have won
[28:15] Speaker 1: NBA Finals MVP in 1980 if it weren't for the
[28:18] Speaker 1: Kareem injury.
[28:18] Speaker 2: He probably shouldn't have under those circumstances.
[28:21] Speaker 1: The only point that I'm making is now the Spurs
[28:24] Speaker 1: are kind of going back to what we all have
[28:26] Speaker 1: thought forever is what it should be for a team
[28:31] Speaker 1: at this point, right? That's how they played in those
[28:33] Speaker 1: two games. Maybe they get up off the ground, right?
[28:36] Speaker 3: Right.
[28:37] Speaker 2: Maybe, maybe they're able to put it together.
[28:39] Speaker 1: I thought that everything Victor said, Hey man, I got
[28:41] Speaker 1: to have more poise. He seems to be the most
[28:43] Speaker 1: self-aware and most able to acknowledge his faults and let
[28:46] Speaker 1: it go, which I think is very, very important. That's
[28:48] Speaker 1: that mindfulness stuff that he seems to be all about doing, right?
[28:52] Speaker 1: Like that to me is where that stuff comes up
[28:54] Speaker 1: is in the way that he talks about and handles
[28:56] Speaker 1: those things.
[28:57] Speaker 2: But they're going to need to get it.
[29:00] Speaker 1: If they're going to have any chance to win this,
[29:02] Speaker 1: they've got to get out here and get it done.
[29:06] Speaker 2: And it's got to take place early.
[29:08] Speaker 1: Like, you guys get down 15-2 or something like this?
[29:14] Speaker 6: Mm-mm.
[29:15] Speaker 3: Yeah, you were talking about how loud that building's going
[29:17] Speaker 3: to be. If they get up to a big run,
[29:19] Speaker 3: big lead... Yeah. It's going to feel like a party
[29:22] Speaker 3: in there real, real soon.
[29:24] Speaker 1: But in fairness to the Spurs, it's something worth keeping
[29:26] Speaker 1: in mind. It's going to be nerve wracking for the
[29:28] Speaker 1: Knicks too. Like, no, everybody thinks they're going to win.
[29:32] Speaker 1: Like if they are capable of feeling pressure, this is
[29:36] Speaker 1: the game that they'll feel it. I think they'd feel
[29:38] Speaker 1: more pressure here than they would feel in the games seven.
[29:41] Speaker 1: Because game seven is like, oh, this could go either way.
[29:43] Speaker 1: This is, I don't think, can you think of a
[29:45] Speaker 1: team that's been expected to win a game in the
[29:48] Speaker 1: way that this team is? Like those first two, those
[29:51] Speaker 1: first two spreads were weird.
[29:53] Speaker 3: Right.
[29:54] Speaker 4: Right.
[29:54] Speaker 1: Like those spreads were like the Spurs were like a
[29:56] Speaker 1: six and a half point favorite in game two. That
[29:58] Speaker 1: was preposterous.
[30:00] Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, it seems that the Knicks have been
[30:04] Speaker 3: consistently undervalued.
[30:06] Speaker 1: Yo, do you know what the spread is in this one?
[30:10] Speaker 1: As of this moment?
[30:10] Speaker 3: I'm going to go Knicks favored by three and a half.
[30:14] Speaker 1: One and a half? What am I missing here?
[30:20] Speaker 3: That's insane.
[30:22] Speaker 1: What are we... I am totally confused by this, right? Like,
[30:26] Speaker 1: I can't... No, no, no, no.
[30:28] Speaker 2: I don't see this.
[30:29] Speaker 6: But.
[30:30] Speaker 1: This could go a lot of ways, man. This could
[30:33] Speaker 1: go a lot of ways. I obviously think that the
[30:35] Speaker 1: Knicks are going to win. But what if Victor comes
[30:40] Speaker 1: out here and puts up like 35?
[30:41] Speaker 3: At MSG?
[30:45] Speaker 1: It's possible. That's the thing. It's simply possible. It is
[30:49] Speaker 1: not probable. And this is the difference between a guy
[30:52] Speaker 1: like this at this age and then where it gets later.
[30:55] Speaker 1: At this age, it's possible. Later, it becomes probable, right?
[31:01] Speaker 1: The skills catch up to where he's way ahead of
[31:04] Speaker 1: the game mentally. And I don't mean in terms of
[31:06] Speaker 1: processing basketball. I mean, in terms of mindset, he's way
[31:09] Speaker 1: ahead of 22 at that point. But everything else, it's
[31:13] Speaker 1: got to catch up, man. It's got to catch up.
[31:15] Speaker 1: And maybe they catch lightning in a bottle here. Maybe
[31:18] Speaker 1: he's super hot or whatever it is. But to me,
[31:21] Speaker 1: I got less questions about how Victor's going to turn
[31:24] Speaker 1: up than how Stefan Castle is going to turn up.
[31:28] Speaker 2: Because it's possible, man.
[31:29] Speaker 1: He might completely tighten it up, right? Like, one thing
[31:33] Speaker 1: that does seem to be contagious about Victor is that
[31:35] Speaker 1: the other guys are like, yeah, man, well, we think
[31:37] Speaker 1: we're good enough to win.
[31:37] Speaker 2: Like, they have that mindset.
[31:39] Speaker 1: But when that whistle blows, man, we've seen the tightness
[31:42] Speaker 1: come up in a lot of these dudes. And we've
[31:45] Speaker 1: seen it come up in Victor. They eventually pulled it
[31:47] Speaker 1: back together. But this is going to be a test
[31:50] Speaker 1: of their mind and a test of will and determination.
[31:53] Speaker 1: No matter how modern sports get, I forget who's the
[31:57] Speaker 1: originator of this tweet. My buddy Miles Brown sent it
[31:59] Speaker 1: to me, though, is that a lot of the playoffs
[32:00] Speaker 1: just come down to who a bitch and who ain't.
[32:04] Speaker 1: And we may not find out who is, but we're
[32:07] Speaker 1: definitely going to find out who ain't. New York, the

[34:23] Speaker 3: All right, Bo, if you haven't heard, big viewership for
[34:26] Speaker 3: this NBA Finals. Up 90% over last year's Game 1.
[34:32] Speaker 3: Game 1 between the Spurs and the Knicks averaged nearly
[34:35] Speaker 3: 17 million viewers. Most watched Game 1 since 2018. Bo,
[34:41] Speaker 3: what do you make of this?
[34:43] Speaker 6: One.
[34:43] Speaker 1: Let us not discount the possibility of some stat juking.
[34:46] Speaker 3: Of course.
[34:48] Speaker 1: Like, I barely know what numbers mean anymore, right? But
[34:51] Speaker 1: I want to be fair on this, that the quantitative
[34:55] Speaker 1: methods do become important.
[34:57] Speaker 2: But number two.
[34:59] Speaker 1: Wow.
[35:00] Speaker 2: It's amazing what happens when you have.
[35:03] Speaker 1: Actual factual star power combined with the biggest market in
[35:09] Speaker 1: the country. Last year, what did we have? Oklahoma City
[35:14] Speaker 1: and Indiana. Who the fuck was the number two for Indiana?
[35:19] Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Like, like it just, it wasn't,
[35:22] Speaker 1: I don't think these.
[35:22] Speaker 2: Ratings would have been this high if you would put
[35:24] Speaker 2: the Knicks in last year.
[35:25] Speaker 3: Right.
[35:26] Speaker 1: But Victor- Victor's at a point where people who don't
[35:30] Speaker 1: watch basketball know what you're talking about, right?
[35:33] Speaker 2: Oh, I heard this big French guy over there, even
[35:36] Speaker 2: if they don't know his name, right?
[35:37] Speaker 1: Like, yeah, no, this is, this is the thing like
[35:39] Speaker 1: this idea that somehow basketball has slipped in cultural relevance.
[35:44] Speaker 1: I mean, maybe I just live in a different world,
[35:46] Speaker 1: but it ain't gone nowhere in the world that I
[35:49] Speaker 1: traffic in. But in terms of television, yeah, man, I think,
[35:53] Speaker 1: first of all, I think it's helped the NBC thing
[35:54] Speaker 1: has helped a lot.
[35:56] Speaker 6: Right.
[35:56] Speaker 1: I think being over the air and them being there,
[35:59] Speaker 1: I think has been a big deal. I think I
[36:02] Speaker 1: also think, Hey man, this is the first NBA finals
[36:05] Speaker 1: of Inside the NBA. Like, I don't think that that's
[36:06] Speaker 1: a small thing either. Like, I think this feels like
[36:09] Speaker 1: a big deal in a way where last year was
[36:12] Speaker 1: the first time when we bullied Adam into putting the
[36:15] Speaker 1: trophy on the floor.
[36:17] Speaker 2: It was like, hey, man, you weren't making this feel
[36:18] Speaker 2: like a big deal.
[36:19] Speaker 1: I think NBC has done a great job of making
[36:21] Speaker 1: this feel like a big deal.
[36:22] Speaker 2: I think the broadcast this year.
[36:24] Speaker 3: I mean, obviously, NBC had the playoffs and the Western
[36:28] Speaker 3: Conference finals. The finals are on ESPN. Yes.
[36:31] Speaker 1: But it all builds.
[36:32] Speaker 3: Yeah, correct. I completely agree that NBC's presentation of the
[36:37] Speaker 3: playoffs has definitely... It.
[36:38] Speaker 1: All feels like a big deal. And look, I worked
[36:41] Speaker 1: at ESPN for a long time. I worked with a
[36:42] Speaker 1: lot of those people for a long time.
[36:45] Speaker 3: Having.
[36:46] Speaker 1: Charles, Shaq, Kenny and Ernie makes this feel like a
[36:50] Speaker 1: bigger deal than any incarnation of NBA countdown that there
[36:55] Speaker 1: has ever been. And I think that that carries over
[36:58] Speaker 1: into how much like what the ratings are.
[37:00] Speaker 2: These these playoffs have felt important.
[37:03] Speaker 3: You know what feels silly? All the conversations we had
[37:07] Speaker 3: about who's the next face of the league.
[37:09] Speaker 1: I told people, you have to admit, I don't know
[37:12] Speaker 1: if we did it on this show, but I've said it.
[37:13] Speaker 1: I was like, no, it's going.
[37:16] Speaker 3: To be Jason Tatum and Edwards.
[37:19] Speaker 1: No, they got, we just got so caught up in
[37:22] Speaker 1: the America part.
[37:22] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[37:24] Speaker 1: No, we need you to be amazing. Right.
[37:26] Speaker 6: Right.
[37:26] Speaker 2: Like I don't, and it's, it is wild because all
[37:29] Speaker 2: these guys.
[37:29] Speaker 1: That we've had come from other countries, a lot of
[37:31] Speaker 1: them have been really impressive.
[37:32] Speaker 4: Right.
[37:33] Speaker 2: This one's amazing.
[37:35] Speaker 3: He's amazing. He is. He jumps off the screen, both
[37:39] Speaker 3: physically and with his play. His interviews are incredible. And
[37:44] Speaker 3: I mean, I mean, he also put up one of
[37:46] Speaker 3: the biggest star performances we've seen in a long, long
[37:49] Speaker 3: time last week.
[37:50] Speaker 6: Yep.
[37:50] Speaker 1: And he's becoming polarizing all because he keeps saying what
[37:53] Speaker 1: he should.
[37:53] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[37:54] Speaker 1: The haters, especially the little ones, the little guys, this, this,
[37:59] Speaker 1: this is, they not, I can just imagine them.
[38:02] Speaker 2: They just, Reaching up into the sky, trying to figure
[38:05] Speaker 2: out what to do.
[38:06] Speaker 3: All right. The World Cup kicks off this week, and
[38:10] Speaker 3: there is one consistent narrative throughout the country. It's really,
[38:15] Speaker 3: really hot. In England, they are using special high-tech palm
[38:21] Speaker 3: cooling devices to try and keep them cool. Over one-third
[38:26] Speaker 3: of the games next week will be in what will
[38:28] Speaker 3: be termed dangerous levels of heat. according to, uh, according
[38:35] Speaker 3: to the NPR. Well, I want you to, uh, I'm
[38:38] Speaker 3: going to run through where some of these teams are training, uh,
[38:41] Speaker 3: just to, uh, get kind of an idea of the heat.
[38:44] Speaker 3: Norway training in Greensboro, North Carolina.
[38:47] Speaker 5: Great.
[38:48] Speaker 3: Hold on. In Greenville, Greensboro, North Carolina.
[38:50] Speaker 1: Oh, Greensboro.
[38:51] Speaker 3: Greensboro.
[38:51] Speaker 2: Big, big difference.
[38:53] Speaker 3: Big difference. Uh, Sweden, Frisco, Texas, Dallas.
[38:58] Speaker 6: Yep.
[38:59] Speaker 3: Um, Let's see. Let's go through a few Portugal, Palms,
[39:04] Speaker 3: Palm beach, uh, Spain, Chattanooga, Tennessee.
[39:10] Speaker 1: You could tell who's, you could tell who did their
[39:11] Speaker 1: location scouting early and who waited too late.
[39:14] Speaker 5: Right.
[39:14] Speaker 3: Um, so, uh, Turkey, a Mesa, Arizona.
[39:19] Speaker 2: Wow.
[39:20] Speaker 1: So shout out to you to catching up. It is
[39:22] Speaker 1: now Turkey, not Turkey.
[39:23] Speaker 4: Yep.
[39:25] Speaker 3: I know that because they're playing the United States.
[39:27] Speaker 2: Oh, OK.
[39:28] Speaker 3: But but yeah. What do you make of this of
[39:31] Speaker 3: the world is worrying about the U.S. 's heat issues?
[39:35] Speaker 2: I'm just curious. It wasn't hotter than that in Qatar.
[39:39] Speaker 3: They had to play that in the fall.
[39:42] Speaker 2: That's right.
[39:44] Speaker 1: So is America at that point where we got to
[39:47] Speaker 1: start having stuff like that in the Olympics, like when
[39:49] Speaker 1: they haven't.
[39:50] Speaker 2: Been like Australia? Like, are we are we at that?
[39:53] Speaker 1: Is that the place that we have reached that you're
[39:55] Speaker 1: going to have to wait in order to do that?
[39:58] Speaker 3: The wild thing is now, I mean, all these games
[40:00] Speaker 3: are in the South. They're going to be in indoor stadiums.
[40:03] Speaker 3: But you imagine going out into MetLife.
[40:06] Speaker 2: Ooh, yeah, they're going to be in for a rude awakening.
[40:08] Speaker 3: Or Kansas City?
[40:10] Speaker 2: Washington, D.C. That one's sneaky.
[40:14] Speaker 1: They're hoping they can get up there in Toronto and
[40:16] Speaker 1: Vancouver and Mexico City, although they're going to be at altitude.
[40:20] Speaker 5: Right. Ooh, yeah.
[40:22] Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
[40:22] Speaker 1: I had never considered this being the case. Maybe the
[40:25] Speaker 1: people from them hot-ass countries will have.
[40:27] Speaker 2: A bit of an advantage.
[40:29] Speaker 3: I think that's a real thing.
[40:31] Speaker 1: You know, the.
[40:32] Speaker 2: Problem is all the countries I'm thinking about.
[40:34] Speaker 1: Would then lead to be saying things that one might
[40:37] Speaker 1: find to be a touch stereotypical.
[40:40] Speaker 2: So I'm not.
[40:41] Speaker 3: They made all this, I mean, they had to add
[40:43] Speaker 3: this mandatory water break, which of course they're obviously using
[40:46] Speaker 3: to do as a TV commercial timeout, and people were
[40:48] Speaker 3: very cynical about it, but I don't know, man, it's
[40:51] Speaker 3: going to be really hot.
[40:53] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it is going to be hot. By the way,
[40:54] Speaker 1: speaking of water, shout out to Zoran for bullying them
[40:57] Speaker 1: into letting people bring, it's the World Cup where he
[40:58] Speaker 1: had to bully people into letting them bring water, right?
[41:00] Speaker 3: Yeah, you know where they weren't going to allow reusable
[41:04] Speaker 3: water bottles? Miami.
[41:10] Speaker 2: Yo, I haven't been to Miami in four years.
[41:12] Speaker 1: You know why? Because when I have time to go
[41:14] Speaker 1: to Miami, I ain't going to fucking Miami.
[41:16] Speaker 4: Right.
[41:16] Speaker 3: It's too hot.
[41:18] Speaker 2: Same thing about Houston. I'm from there.
[41:20] Speaker 1: I get there every year or two because when I
[41:23] Speaker 1: got time, it's too hot.
[41:25] Speaker 3: Yeah, times you have off. August. Yeah.
[41:28] Speaker 2: I'm going to Houston in August this year, boy, and man, that's.
[41:31] Speaker 3: You are a very.
[41:33] Speaker 1: Very good friend. Yeah, I mean, I'm also a big fan.
[41:37] Speaker 1: I think it's big fan and good friend all together.
[41:39] Speaker 3: All right, and finally, artificial intelligence company Anthropic suggested Thursday
[41:44] Speaker 3: a global pause in building the most powerful AI systems.
[41:47] Speaker 3: As the latest models are beginning to show signs they
[41:49] Speaker 3: could escape human control. Quote, we believe it would be
[41:53] Speaker 3: good for the world to have the option to slow
[41:55] Speaker 3: or temporary pause frontier AI development to enable societal structures
[42:00] Speaker 3: and alignment research to keep up with the advance of
[42:03] Speaker 3: the technology. Bo, your thoughts.
[42:05] Speaker 2: Ryan, what was the name of the book?
[42:08] Speaker 3: If they build it, everyone dies.
[42:13] Speaker 1: Ryan and I both read this book. Ryan recommended it
[42:15] Speaker 1: to me. And it is about basically that if we
[42:17] Speaker 1: get to that point of superhuman AI, it's going to
[42:20] Speaker 1: kill us. And there have been many simulations of people
[42:23] Speaker 1: doing this where they go to nuclear war.
[42:25] Speaker 2: They go like they are.
[42:27] Speaker 1: This is a thing. And the thing about that book,
[42:30] Speaker 1: I think we've talked about it on here before, but
[42:31] Speaker 1: I think it bears repeating. The thing that I thought
[42:34] Speaker 1: was most interesting was, and I don't know if you
[42:35] Speaker 1: remember this, Ryan, but in the intro, these guys are
[42:38] Speaker 1: making it clear that we've done everything we can to
[42:43] Speaker 1: not sound like raving lunatics. Yes.
[42:46] Speaker 3: It's the first five pages. Yes.
[42:48] Speaker 1: Like this is as calmly as we can put it.
[42:52] Speaker 1: And the name of the book is if someone builds it,
[42:55] Speaker 1: everybody's going to die or everyone will die. That's them
[42:59] Speaker 1: trying to be cool about this. I don't know how
[43:02] Speaker 1: people don't understand what we've got here. I don't.
[43:08] Speaker 3: It is, it is fat. It's, you know, it's something,
[43:10] Speaker 3: I think it's very interesting that we see a lot
[43:12] Speaker 3: of this, like, I mean, this is anecdotal, but a
[43:14] Speaker 3: lot of this AI usage in people like 65 year
[43:18] Speaker 3: old plus and people very young. And that to me
[43:21] Speaker 3: is people who didn't grow up watching Terminator in the matrix.
[43:24] Speaker 2: That is true. But I admit, I use it for
[43:26] Speaker 2: such reasons.
[43:27] Speaker 1: Largely mundane reasons, help me find places to go visit.
[43:34] Speaker 3: Give me a recipe that I can sneak spinach into
[43:36] Speaker 3: my toddler. Yes.
[43:38] Speaker 1: I have mapped out my travel plans. through like spring
[43:42] Speaker 1: of 2028. That's what I use.
[43:45] Speaker 2: It for, okay? That's what I'm going for in this.
[43:49] Speaker 2: These other people, because did you see.
[43:51] Speaker 1: The thing where the guy was talking about it? I
[43:52] Speaker 1: think it was Sam Altman, but they're trying to see it.
[43:56] Speaker 1: Sam Altman's like, I think that there should be a
[43:59] Speaker 1: privilege with the chatbot because people are using the chatbots
[44:03] Speaker 1: like they use therapists, like they use lawyers.
[44:05] Speaker 2: But there is no privilege legally.
[44:08] Speaker 1: So if you get caught, they're just going to check
[44:10] Speaker 1: your logs with your therapist and to check your logs
[44:14] Speaker 1: with your lawyer.
[44:15] Speaker 2: Like that is that is what they're going for.
[44:17] Speaker 1: You know, because, you know, I've asked about some questions
[44:20] Speaker 1: that are misdemeanors, but questions nonetheless, like like what they.
[44:25] Speaker 3: Travel related questions.
[44:28] Speaker 2: Nah, nah, nah.
[44:30] Speaker 1: But what they've managed to do is they get you
[44:33] Speaker 1: set to where if I have a question, it becomes
[44:35] Speaker 1: your default.
[44:36] Speaker 6: Yes.
[44:36] Speaker 2: Is to go there.
[44:37] Speaker 1: I will make the point also that I think it's
[44:39] Speaker 1: easy for Anthropic to say we need to stop development
[44:41] Speaker 1: because Anthropic has gotten so far that when you say Anthropic,
[44:44] Speaker 1: people know it's an AI company, which is to say,
[44:46] Speaker 1: They would, of course, like to stop development right now.
[44:49] Speaker 1: They got a comfortable 3-1 lead.
[44:51] Speaker 3: They're trying to stop the count.
[44:53] Speaker 2: Yeah, let's run four quarters.
[44:54] Speaker 1: Let's start whipping that ball around, baby.
[44:57] Speaker 3: Yeah, we do not want you to implement a shot clock.
[45:00] Speaker 1: Right, right.
[45:01] Speaker 7: There, there.
[45:02] Speaker 2: Clear out. Clear out. All right, cool. Cool. There we go.
[45:08] Speaker 3: All right, Bo. A lot of good voicemails. Here's our first.
[45:16] Speaker 7: Hey, Bomani, Ian Shearer from Texas, your most favorite town
[45:21] Speaker 7: of Dallas. Just kidding. I'm really originally from back east. Anyway,
[45:26] Speaker 7: question posed to you, man. You talk about no go-to
[45:29] Speaker 7: for Wemba Nyama. What about two words, skyhook? I don't
[45:34] Speaker 7: hear anybody talking about it. Wemba Nyama, skyhook, seems unguardable
[45:38] Speaker 7: to me and would solve the big man versus tall
[45:41] Speaker 7: man thing. Would love your thoughts at some point. Long-time listener.
[45:45] Speaker 7: Love what you do, brother.
[45:47] Speaker 3: Keep it up.
[45:50] Speaker 2: Okay, I can only assume that the Skyhook is harder
[45:53] Speaker 2: than it looks.
[45:55] Speaker 3: To me, it's obviously harder than it looks.
[45:58] Speaker 2: Because nobody's done it.
[46:01] Speaker 3: No one.
[46:02] Speaker 1: Kareem broke out.
[46:03] Speaker 5: The Skyhook 55 years ago, and nobody else is doing it.
[46:09] Speaker 5: I can only assume that it's just way harder than
[46:13] Speaker 5: it looks.
[46:13] Speaker 1: Now, Kareem has also said, nobody has asked me to
[46:16] Speaker 1: work with them on the Skyhook. Now, Kareem, you know
[46:19] Speaker 1: what that's about. People don't like you. Don't nobody want
[46:23] Speaker 1: to hang out with you long enough to have to
[46:25] Speaker 1: try to do this, to try to do this Skyhook.
[46:27] Speaker 2: Hey, hey, hey, I didn't make it that way. Okay.
[46:30] Speaker 1: Did you read the Pearlman book on the Showtime Lakers? Yeah,
[46:35] Speaker 1: I did.
[46:36] Speaker 2: It was a very interesting look at Kareem.
[46:39] Speaker 3: Very clear tough hang.
[46:41] Speaker 2: Yes, that is the best. He didn't seem like a
[46:43] Speaker 2: bad guy.
[46:44] Speaker 3: Just tough hang.
[46:45] Speaker 2: Just a tough hang.
[46:46] Speaker 1: Although I was with Kareem on this. There's a part
[46:49] Speaker 1: in this where they talk about where he had his
[46:50] Speaker 1: last game, the last game of the farewell tour. And look,
[46:54] Speaker 1: everybody was ready for him to go. And he kept playing, honestly,
[46:57] Speaker 1: because he didn't have any money because he got robbed.
[47:00] Speaker 1: But he got real emotional, right? Kareem's not an emotional guy.
[47:04] Speaker 1: He got real emotional about it. Corrine come back to
[47:08] Speaker 1: the locker room and people thought it would be funny
[47:10] Speaker 1: to cut up his jeans. And they're like, Kareem left
[47:15] Speaker 1: and didn't speak to nobody. Of course he didn't left
[47:17] Speaker 1: and didn't speak to anybody. What are you talking about?
[47:19] Speaker 2: Why is that funny?
[47:21] Speaker 3: That's not nice.
[47:22] Speaker 1: What's the joke?
[47:22] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[47:23] Speaker 1: Right? Like, what's the punchline in this?
[47:25] Speaker 3: What's the punchline in I have no pants?
[47:28] Speaker 1: I don't know what you're talking about.
[47:30] Speaker 3: Also, do you know how hard it is for Kareem
[47:32] Speaker 3: Abdul-Jabbar to find jeans? Yes, that is correct.
[47:35] Speaker 2: Those jeans cost $ 500. Right?
[47:37] Speaker 1: Just the fabric.
[47:38] Speaker 3: And also, like. I don't think he had two pairs
[47:42] Speaker 3: lying around.
[47:42] Speaker 2: No, no, right. I didn't bring a second pair. Crazy thing.
[47:47] Speaker 1: I would also say this right fast.
[47:49] Speaker 2: Have you been playing 82 and 0?
[47:49] Speaker 3: Yes.
[47:50] Speaker 1: And for people who don't know, it's this game that
[47:52] Speaker 1: lets you pick a player off a team from a
[47:54] Speaker 1: decade and you put together a five-man lineup and it
[47:56] Speaker 1: tells you whether your team is 82 or 0. I've
[47:58] Speaker 1: only gotten 81 and 1, but.
[48:01] Speaker 2: The cheat code is Wilt.
[48:03] Speaker 3: Yes.
[48:04] Speaker 1: If you get either Wilt, either 60s Wilt or 70 Wilt,
[48:07] Speaker 1: that is your cheat code. Ryan, have you ever seen
[48:11] Speaker 1: these clips of Wilt Chamberlain tossing sky hooks?
[48:15] Speaker 3: Yes.
[48:15] Speaker 1: Like where Wilt is guarding Kareem and just tossing.
[48:18] Speaker 2: His sky hooks.
[48:19] Speaker 3: Yeah, it looks like he's playing volleyball.
[48:21] Speaker 2: We have really, really somehow underrated Wilt.
[48:24] Speaker 1: I don't see how it's possible that we talk about
[48:26] Speaker 1: Wilt like Wilt's some kind of loser. When Wilt retired,
[48:28] Speaker 1: the two NBA teams with the best records of all
[48:30] Speaker 1: time had one thing in common.
[48:32] Speaker 3: Wilt.
[48:33] Speaker 2: That is what they had in common.
[48:35] Speaker 1: Wilt.
[48:37] Speaker 3: All right, here's our next one.
[48:39] Speaker 4: Yo, Bahani, Ryan, how y'all doing? So, for a frequent
[48:45] Speaker 4: listener of the show, I feel like Joel from Missouri
[48:48] Speaker 4: City's influence has been more apparent, not just with the callers,
[48:53] Speaker 4: but with.
[48:53] Speaker 3: Guests, too.
[48:55] Speaker 4: It feels like this is the summer of hate. So,
[48:59] Speaker 4: my question to you, I know you're not a hater
[49:02] Speaker 4: in the sense, but there are some people you despise.
[49:06] Speaker 4: Number one, Hall of Fame, being Sugar Belt. But again,
[49:10] Speaker 4: as a lifter, I've been noticing someone's name come up
[49:14] Speaker 4: more and more. And that'd be, he's a dookie, so
[49:17] Speaker 4: I know that adds to it, but he's also a
[49:19] Speaker 4: mild human being. And that's Stephen Miller. Or Stephen, however
[49:23] Speaker 4: he says his name.
[49:24] Speaker 2: You know who I'm talking about.
[49:25] Speaker 4: That, that, he's a whatever. So I gotta ask, has
[49:28] Speaker 4: he stepped up on the list of you people that
[49:31] Speaker 4: you hate? Or is Stephen Miller.
[49:33] Speaker 1: Still number one?
[49:35] Speaker 7: Let us know.
[49:39] Speaker 1: So the thing about where I got with Stringer Bell
[49:42] Speaker 1: is I felt like I had so many opponents that
[49:45] Speaker 1: it required me to rise up.
[49:47] Speaker 2: Stephen Miller is just so easy.
[49:50] Speaker 1: It's just, it's so crazy to me too, that he's
[49:53] Speaker 1: like so much younger than me. And I will say this,
[49:56] Speaker 1: you know, me and Stephen Miller have something in common.
[49:57] Speaker 1: And I think this is an underrated thing about him. Wow,
[50:00] Speaker 1: the look on your face when I said that. Both
[50:02] Speaker 1: of us helped start our careers in part due to
[50:06] Speaker 1: Duke Lacrosse. Like I was living in Durham at the time.
[50:10] Speaker 1: And so like I wrote some articles about it. I
[50:12] Speaker 1: get calls to go on TV about it, you know,
[50:14] Speaker 1: so forth and so on. Stephen Miller was at Duke
[50:17] Speaker 1: at the time. And I don't know how more people
[50:19] Speaker 1: have not talked about this because this is really interesting.
[50:21] Speaker 1: He made a big bet. You can go back and
[50:23] Speaker 1: find him having him on Fox News and stuff like
[50:25] Speaker 1: that at the time. But he made a big bet
[50:28] Speaker 1: that those boys were not guilty and got on TV
[50:32] Speaker 1: and was willing to say it. I don't know what
[50:34] Speaker 1: evidence he did or did not have, but he made
[50:36] Speaker 1: a big bet on that.
[50:38] Speaker 2: And it cashed in.
[50:39] Speaker 1: Like, that's what helps get him to all of these places,
[50:42] Speaker 1: is that he went out there and rode for them
[50:44] Speaker 1: boys in a time where I will say that was
[50:46] Speaker 1: a risky proposition to get out there and do it.
[50:50] Speaker 1: He did it, and it cashed out. And this is
[50:52] Speaker 1: where it's gone. But, like, when that story, when that
[50:55] Speaker 1: first broke out and people were like, well, you know,
[50:56] Speaker 1: they got a town gal situation in Durham, and they
[50:58] Speaker 1: were running all these crazy headlines for the Duke Chronicle,
[51:01] Speaker 1: by Stephen Miller. Like, one of them I remember was
[51:04] Speaker 1: called Welcome to the Durham Petting Zoo by Stephen Miller.
[51:09] Speaker 1: Just in case you're curious, if ever you are looking
[51:11] Speaker 1: for two or three assholes, the editorial page of your
[51:14] Speaker 1: local smarmy private school is right there.
[51:18] Speaker 3: All right, here's our last one. Hey, Bomani.
[51:21] Speaker 6: Love the show. Love the work you and Ryan do.
[51:24] Speaker 6: I just wanted to add to the continuing saga of
[51:28] Speaker 6: white people with names you would not expect. I, as
[51:32] Speaker 6: a fellow white person, this really threw me in for
[51:34] Speaker 6: a whirl, but... I'm working my summer job yesterday, my
[51:38] Speaker 6: first day, and I walked into the warehouse, and I
[51:41] Speaker 6: met Garrett.
[51:42] Speaker 3: He was my supervisor.
[51:43] Speaker 6: He was really nice. And then I go to meet
[51:46] Speaker 6: a middle-aged white woman. I didn't have any expectations, obviously,
[51:53] Speaker 6: but she introduced herself, and I thought I misheard her,
[51:56] Speaker 6: but I got confirmation today. Her name is Lucretia.
[51:59] Speaker 3: I know you said it's always the Luz that.
[52:04] Speaker 6: You don't expect that. Even with that in mind, I
[52:08] Speaker 6: still didn't expect Lucretia. I just wanted to add to
[52:12] Speaker 6: the lore of the show.
[52:14] Speaker 1: Hey, man, nothing like when you got to stop and
[52:17] Speaker 1: be like, I'm sorry, what did you say?
[52:18] Speaker 3: The white on white ones are my favorite of these.
[52:20] Speaker 1: Yes, yes, yes, yes. I'll tell you, man, when my
[52:22] Speaker 1: homeboy introduced me to his girl, Keisha, and I was like,
[52:25] Speaker 1: I'm sorry, what was that? And she said, Keisha, and
[52:28] Speaker 1: I never saw them again that night. And I've been
[52:31] Speaker 1: telling this story now for years, and my man, who
[52:33] Speaker 1: I know is listening right now, not once has brought
[52:36] Speaker 1: it up to clarify. I deserve to heads up, is
[52:43] Speaker 1: all I'm saying. That's all I'm saying. But ladies and gentlemen,
[52:47] Speaker 1: thanks so much for joining us here on The Right Time.
[52:49] Speaker 1: We do this four days a week. Ryan Brumley handles
[52:51] Speaker 1: everything behind the scenes.

[53:01] Speaker 1: give us four stars. I'm inclined to believe you are
[53:03] Speaker 1: a hater. We'll talk to you guys in a couple
[53:04] Speaker 1: of days. Take it easy.
