[0:05] Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the right time, a wave original.
[0:09] Speaker 1: My name is Bobani Jones. Thanks for listening wherever you
[0:12] Speaker 1: get your podcast. Thanks for watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like,
[0:16] Speaker 1: rate us, review us, give us five stars. You only
[0:18] Speaker 1: give us four stars. I'm inclined to believe you are
[0:21] Speaker 1: a hater. It is Foxworth Friday. Dominique Foxworth, what's going on, man?
[0:25] Speaker 2: Not much, man. We're getting closer and closer to football
[0:28] Speaker 2: season when everybody's life gets a little easier.
[0:31] Speaker 1: Yo, everybody's life gets easier, and what amazes me, there's
[0:34] Speaker 1: nothing quite like the people on Twitter who are like, yo,
[0:36] Speaker 1: football's back. And I'm like, baby, it's the preseason kind.
[0:40] Speaker 1: And they still out there. They still here for that
[0:44] Speaker 1: near beer football.
[0:46] Speaker 2: I mean, I was about to say that nobody actually, like,
[0:50] Speaker 2: watches past the first few minutes, but I'm pretty sure
[0:52] Speaker 2: last time I checked, like, the preseason be out here
[0:55] Speaker 2: doing numbers. It's insane. Now, to be.
[0:59] Speaker 1: Fair, the competition is weak, right? But at the same.
[1:04] Speaker 3: Time, you put any football on television... and people are
[1:11] Speaker 3: lapping it up. It doesn't matter what kind.
[1:14] Speaker 4: Of football it is. People watch the Pro Bowl, right?
[1:18] Speaker 1: Like, in fact, the reason they had to change the
[1:20] Speaker 1: Pro Bowl to flag football, it really wasn't because people
[1:23] Speaker 1: didn't watch it. It's because they was watching it, and
[1:26] Speaker 1: people was getting embarrassed.
[1:27] Speaker 2: Yeah, we was watering down a product, right? When you
[1:30] Speaker 2: walk around, like, every time you watch football, you leave happy.
[1:33] Speaker 2: We can't have you watching football and leaving disappointed.
[1:35] Speaker 1: No, every time somebody would be like, yo, man, they
[1:37] Speaker 1: need to just get rid of the football, and they like.
[1:39] Speaker 4: brother, let me, let me, let me hand you this spreadsheet.
[1:43] Speaker 2: We need to get rid of the pro balls. Like, sir,
[1:46] Speaker 2: the pro ball is doing season finale numbers, my friends.
[1:51] Speaker 2: You know what the network's like? They like them numbers.
[1:53] Speaker 2: So we're going to keep something on here. I don't know.
[1:55] Speaker 2: Y'all can play. Y'all can not play. I don't know.
[1:57] Speaker 2: We play dodgeball. We're going to do something.
[2:00] Speaker 4: I feel like the thing.
[2:01] Speaker 1: So one thing I think that is often forgotten about
[2:04] Speaker 1: preseason football is the The NFL season is 20 weeks,
[2:10] Speaker 1: counting preseason and regular season. It has been that way
[2:13] Speaker 1: for a very long time. And when I say it's
[2:15] Speaker 1: been that way for a very long time, when it
[2:17] Speaker 1: was a 16-game season, there were four preseason games. But
[2:21] Speaker 1: when it was a 14-game season, there were six preseason games.
[2:28] Speaker 4: Six.
[2:32] Speaker 2: I can't imagine, man. I mean, I guess... Football requires
[2:37] Speaker 2: some acclimation. So, like, that's kind of why we... Well,
[2:41] Speaker 2: they don't even do it in college anymore where they
[2:42] Speaker 2: have the cupcakes at the front of the schedule. They
[2:45] Speaker 2: kicking that season off with something serious. And your teammates
[2:48] Speaker 2: your team yet? Like, we ain't real at this point.
[2:52] Speaker 1: Man, those August football games are so bad. And pretty soon,
[2:58] Speaker 1: they gonna have to start playing them motherfuckers at 7
[3:00] Speaker 1: o'clock in the morning, man.
[3:01] Speaker 4: It's 100 degrees outside.
[3:03] Speaker 2: Yeah, that... I had that conversation when we were talking
[3:07] Speaker 2: about Travis Hunter playing both ways, and Greeny was making
[3:12] Speaker 2: the argument that he did it at elevation. I was like, eh,
[3:16] Speaker 2: I get you. He was like, he did it at elevation,
[3:18] Speaker 2: so it's going to be easier down at sea level.
[3:21] Speaker 2: I was like, eh, you know what happens at sea level? Humidity.
[3:24] Speaker 2: You know what happens in Florida? Heat. I'd rather have
[3:27] Speaker 2: a hard time getting oxygen than be down there trying
[3:30] Speaker 2: to do 150 snaps In a hundred degree weather.
[3:34] Speaker 1: Yo, I do think this though about Travis Hunter.
[3:36] Speaker 4: When Travis Hunter's time on this.
[3:38] Speaker 1: Earth is up, it's going to be like Secretariat where
[3:42] Speaker 1: he's going to die and they're going to cut him
[3:44] Speaker 1: open and they're going to find out his heart.
[3:46] Speaker 4: Was like the size of a watermelon, right?
[3:49] Speaker 1: Like we are just going to find out that he
[3:50] Speaker 1: had something inside him that is completely different. He also
[3:53] Speaker 1: appears to have one of these young people things.
[3:57] Speaker 4: I mean, you know, I like, it.
[3:59] Speaker 1: May probably could be diagnosed. That boy don't never be still.
[4:03] Speaker 1: Anytime you see a clip of Travis Hunter, he is
[4:05] Speaker 1: always moving. That would drive me insane.
[4:09] Speaker 2: I don't say it to suggest that he can't do it.
[4:14] Speaker 2: Just saying like, it actually ain't easier. And you're right.
[4:17] Speaker 2: There are some people that I think just are different.
[4:20] Speaker 2: And we had this conversation about like me trying to
[4:23] Speaker 2: copy what Champ did when I first got there. It
[4:25] Speaker 2: took me three days to realize that. I can't. No,
[4:30] Speaker 2: I just can't. You're right. I think that's true about
[4:33] Speaker 2: Travis Hunter. But I'm just saying it ain't going to
[4:35] Speaker 2: be easier than it was in college. That's just the
[4:38] Speaker 2: crazy part to me.
[4:39] Speaker 4: No, but I am intrigued.
[4:40] Speaker 1: You are far more optimistic about the idea of him
[4:43] Speaker 1: playing on both sides than I am. Now, I think
[4:46] Speaker 1: when I've seen you talk about it, you made the
[4:48] Speaker 1: point that you think like 80-80, right? Like not playing
[4:53] Speaker 1: every snap of the game. I still think it's positively
[4:57] Speaker 1: insane that they're even going for this. But I think
[4:59] Speaker 1: the part that people need to remember is if you
[5:02] Speaker 1: look at how much Jacksonville gave up to trade up
[5:05] Speaker 1: to take him, it only makes sense. It can't just
[5:10] Speaker 1: be we're going to see if he can do both.
[5:13] Speaker 1: The plan must be that he could do both. The
[5:17] Speaker 1: difference between him and Shohei Ohtani is he only pitch
[5:19] Speaker 1: every five days.
[5:21] Speaker 4: And when you pitch, you don't have to play in
[5:23] Speaker 4: the field. He's going to do all of this apparently.
[5:27] Speaker 2: And like, I, I mean, no disrespect to baseball players,
[5:32] Speaker 2: but I assume that they would agree that like the
[5:35] Speaker 2: tax on your body is a little different. And he's like,
[5:39] Speaker 2: to your point, he's not playing both. He's not doing
[5:42] Speaker 2: both things at a high level at the same time,
[5:45] Speaker 2: but it's still just a different asking for different things.
[5:47] Speaker 2: There is playing corner and receiver and, it's going to
[5:51] Speaker 2: be tearing up the same muscles and body parts for
[5:54] Speaker 2: the course of an entire game. And so, like, I
[5:58] Speaker 2: don't think it's not insane. I just also think that
[6:02] Speaker 2: sometimes insane shit happens. To the point that you were making,
[6:06] Speaker 2: they might just do some sort of analysis of his
[6:10] Speaker 2: blood and find out that he just was born with
[6:13] Speaker 2: a lot more white blood cells or red blood cells
[6:15] Speaker 2: than anybody else. I don't know. It certainly seems like
[6:18] Speaker 2: what he's done so far suggests that if nothing else
[6:20] Speaker 2: is possible, But you said the thing about compensation from
[6:24] Speaker 2: one side. It only makes sense for the team. There's
[6:27] Speaker 2: the compensation question from the other side. You don't want
[6:30] Speaker 2: to get in the habit of doing two jobs for
[6:33] Speaker 2: the price of one.
[6:35] Speaker 1: Some people got mad at me about this when he
[6:37] Speaker 1: was at Colorado where I'm like, y'all keep acting like
[6:40] Speaker 1: y'all doing this boy a favor by letting him work
[6:42] Speaker 1: two jobs, by letting him work a double shift.
[6:45] Speaker 4: I'm like, what are you talking about? This is insane.
[6:48] Speaker 1: In the way NFL works, salaries are set up there's
[6:52] Speaker 1: no way at least on the rookie wage scale for
[6:55] Speaker 1: you to account for what we're talking about now maybe
[6:58] Speaker 1: he could wind up getting into that overage pool that
[7:01] Speaker 1: they have you know based on all the stuff he's doing.
[7:04] Speaker 2: But that don't work because that is uh the formula
[7:08] Speaker 2: includes where you were drafted oh yeah i i made
[7:12] Speaker 2: more my rookie year from that overage pool than i
[7:15] Speaker 2: did for my actual salaries because I was damn near
[7:18] Speaker 2: a fourth round draft pick. And so I was not
[7:21] Speaker 2: expected to play more than half of the defensive snaps.
[7:25] Speaker 2: It's different for him. I mean, I guess maybe he'll
[7:27] Speaker 2: break the formula if he plays on both sides of
[7:29] Speaker 2: the ball.
[7:30] Speaker 1: Right.
[7:31] Speaker 4: Here's my question. Does the formula even have accounting?
[7:36] Speaker 2: No, no. It goes by percentages, percentage of snaps on
[7:43] Speaker 2: your side of the ball. Or even if you combine them,
[7:45] Speaker 2: it's still going by percentage of snaps. It fucking around
[7:48] Speaker 2: and hurt him.
[7:52] Speaker 1: I think for me, and I just have eyeball scoutability, okay?
[7:57] Speaker 1: He looks like an all-pro caliber corner to me. And
[8:04] Speaker 1: like a very good receiver.
[8:06] Speaker 4: Like, I don't know.
[8:07] Speaker 1: Or maybe it's because I never really entertained the I
[8:09] Speaker 1: always thought him play a receiver was a bit more
[8:11] Speaker 1: toward like gimmick territory. Like, oh, let's throw him out here.
[8:14] Speaker 1: So I don't think when he was at Colorado, I
[8:16] Speaker 1: didn't give a lot of thought to him as a
[8:17] Speaker 1: receiver that I looked up and they said he had
[8:18] Speaker 1: 15 touchdown catches. And I was like, whoa, okay, this
[8:22] Speaker 1: is this is something now, you know, in the Big 12.
[8:24] Speaker 1: But still, it was like, oh, okay, I guess that's
[8:28] Speaker 1: what's going on here. But he out here working these doubles,
[8:31] Speaker 1: and think he the one coming out on top.
[8:35] Speaker 4: That's tough, man.
[8:36] Speaker 2: That is tough. You pointed out the rookie wage situation.
[8:40] Speaker 2: There's a cap limitation. There's also, when you get to
[8:43] Speaker 2: your contract, it's like we always base these contracts off
[8:47] Speaker 2: of precedent at your position. And so since he has
[8:51] Speaker 2: potentially an unprecedented contract position like we see this time
[8:55] Speaker 2: and time again where guys are abnormally impactful for the
[9:00] Speaker 2: position that they play and then they're caught in this
[9:03] Speaker 2: trick bag where they're trying to convince everyone else to
[9:06] Speaker 2: treat me treat me a tight end like a receiver
[9:09] Speaker 2: that's the way the yeah because that's the way this
[9:12] Speaker 2: offense is using me and treating me or treat me
[9:15] Speaker 2: like a defensive end even though I'm a tackle but
[9:18] Speaker 2: I'm having this type of impact so That aside, even
[9:21] Speaker 2: a franchise tag is a steal for him. The point
[9:24] Speaker 2: of the franchise tag is kind of to force both
[9:26] Speaker 2: sides to make a deal because of the cap implications.
[9:30] Speaker 2: It makes it pretty hard. But then if you go
[9:32] Speaker 2: into the actual open market, make me the highest paid corner,
[9:37] Speaker 2: make me the highest paid receiver. Yeah, sure. Even if
[9:40] Speaker 2: I'm not great at both, if I'm average at one
[9:44] Speaker 2: and good at the other, I deserve a lot more
[9:47] Speaker 2: than anybody else playing this game short of Patrick Mahomes,
[9:50] Speaker 2: Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow. Everybody else, get behind me.
[9:55] Speaker 2: And that's just not going to work as a negotiation tactic. No,
[9:57] Speaker 2: it's not.
[9:58] Speaker 4: By the way, speaking of Lamar.
[10:00] Speaker 1: Jackson, Josh Allen, and I just thought about this because
[10:03] Speaker 1: you mentioned their names.
[10:05] Speaker 4: You know, we do on our list over here, right?
[10:09] Speaker 2: We got our.
[10:09] Speaker 1: Top 25 athletes of the top 25 years. And sometimes
[10:13] Speaker 1: we take out clips from those things and we put
[10:15] Speaker 1: them on the Internet and but people don't understand that
[10:18] Speaker 1: the clips are coming from a list, right? They just
[10:22] Speaker 1: don't get that. And so in making my case for
[10:26] Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson in the context of the 25 and 25 years,
[10:31] Speaker 1: discuss the fact that he's a two-time MVP who would
[10:34] Speaker 1: be a three-time MVP, except they felt like giving Josh
[10:37] Speaker 1: Allen an MVP, which I think is incontrovertibly true. You
[10:40] Speaker 1: can't make the argument that you thought that Lamar was
[10:43] Speaker 1: first team. This is like that offensive player of the
[10:44] Speaker 1: year award. that is always there just so somebody else
[10:47] Speaker 1: can get some love, right? You can't make the guy
[10:50] Speaker 1: first team all pro at quarterback and then not vote
[10:53] Speaker 1: for him at MVP, right?
[10:56] Speaker 4: That seems very Solomonic. You're splitting the baby, dog, right?
[11:02] Speaker 2: Acting like Solomon out here.
[11:04] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, there we go, right? Like that's what we're doing.
[11:06] Speaker 1: You better call Saul so he say you're going to
[11:08] Speaker 1: cut the baby in half. And rather than somebody saying, no, no, no,
[11:12] Speaker 1: don't cut the baby in half, people are like, who,
[11:14] Speaker 1: half of you?
[11:15] Speaker 4: You cut, I choose. Right? They went with that part.
[11:20] Speaker 1: Brother, there is a fictional Lamar Jackson-Josh Allen rivalry that
[11:25] Speaker 1: only exists.
[11:26] Speaker 4: On the internet and really exists in Buffalo.
[11:30] Speaker 1: Because they think me and you still hate Josh Allen.
[11:34] Speaker 4: And first of all, we never hated him in the
[11:36] Speaker 4: first place.
[11:37] Speaker 1: But I'm like, you clearly don't listen to anything that
[11:40] Speaker 1: we say about Josh Allen.
[11:42] Speaker 2: It ain't. I mean, it ain't. I think you did
[11:47] Speaker 2: the Hulk Hogan thing, which I thought you did a
[11:49] Speaker 2: good job talking about that. And I think that all
[11:53] Speaker 2: of this stuff is sports entertainment, and some of it
[11:56] Speaker 2: is more sports than entertainment. Obviously, the wrestling is more
[12:00] Speaker 2: entertainment than sports, but I think some of the fan
[12:04] Speaker 2: behavior and some of the analysis of sports is heavily entertainment.
[12:10] Speaker 2: And I think that what you need in entertainment is
[12:13] Speaker 2: you need a good guy and you need a bad guy. Yes.
[12:16] Speaker 2: And all of us in sports media gave them enough
[12:19] Speaker 2: to make us the bad guy, and they ain't going
[12:21] Speaker 2: to let it go, which is fine. They ain't going
[12:23] Speaker 2: to let it go. I'm still experiencing the... I was
[12:28] Speaker 2: talking about the Jalen Hurts stuff. I still got that
[12:33] Speaker 2: going on. Whereas I say only positive things about Jalen
[12:36] Speaker 2: Hurts before and after the Pretty Privileged joke. And now
[12:42] Speaker 2: this man making money. I can't even get it in commercial. Jalen,
[12:46] Speaker 2: give me a call, man. I would have reset the
[12:48] Speaker 2: shit for the Sprite commercial for a couple bucks.
[12:51] Speaker 1: I forgot that they were saying that your woman wanted
[12:54] Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts more than you.
[12:56] Speaker 4: I completely forgot that.
[12:58] Speaker 1: So for those who don't remember what had happened, Dominique
[13:02] Speaker 1: got on television and said something that I thought was funny.
[13:05] Speaker 1: Let me not say that you thought was funny because
[13:07] Speaker 1: that sounds like passive-aggressive shade.
[13:10] Speaker 4: It's fine.
[13:11] Speaker 2: It obviously wasn't funny enough.
[13:12] Speaker 1: But I can't remember exactly what he said, something that
[13:16] Speaker 1: didn't make no sense. Like, I remember that very clearly
[13:19] Speaker 1: being the issue. Whatever he said didn't add up. And
[13:21] Speaker 1: Dominique was like, look, he only getting away with this.
[13:23] Speaker 1: This pretty privilege. People think he good looking and therefore
[13:26] Speaker 1: he could get away with saying this. And then it
[13:28] Speaker 1: got aggregated. And they're like, oh, you know, you know,
[13:30] Speaker 1: Fosworth girl must be all up on him. You know,
[13:32] Speaker 1: he can't get no doubt. And I'm like, boy, you guys.
[13:34] Speaker 1: have a serious misunderstanding of the confidence level of Dominique Foxworth,
[13:38] Speaker 1: number one.
[13:38] Speaker 4: Like, it was so wild as I'm hearing this, and
[13:41] Speaker 4: I hope.
[13:41] Speaker 1: That people feel like this about me when some stuff happens,
[13:44] Speaker 1: where they pop up and they're like, oh yeah, I
[13:46] Speaker 1: don't really know this dude at all, right? And so
[13:48] Speaker 1: they was coming at Dominique from every corner, and you're
[13:52] Speaker 1: obviously joking, you're laughing the whole nine, but you was
[13:55] Speaker 1: the cat that everybody was mad at for that day
[13:59] Speaker 1: because everybody need to find somebody that they go wind
[14:02] Speaker 1: up being mad at and they was mad at you
[14:04] Speaker 1: about Jalen Hurts and let me tell you something man
[14:07] Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts gonna be an interesting one for me because
[14:10] Speaker 1: I still have not seen any reason for me to
[14:13] Speaker 1: change my opinion of him yeah right like I still
[14:18] Speaker 1: think that he is a good quarterback I still think
[14:22] Speaker 1: that well it may be different this year because they
[14:24] Speaker 1: had a lot of changes in personnel but last year
[14:26] Speaker 1: their weakest position group was quarterback. Now, if you think
[14:31] Speaker 1: that he is a top four or five quarterback in
[14:33] Speaker 1: the league, that still fits because every position group they
[14:36] Speaker 1: had was higher than top four, right? From offensive line,
[14:42] Speaker 1: running back, wide receivers, defensive line, linebackers, DBs.
[14:47] Speaker 4: They was all the way up there.
[14:49] Speaker 1: And if Jalen Hurts was the fifth best quarterback in
[14:51] Speaker 1: the league, which I think we all agree is the
[14:53] Speaker 1: highest that you could reasonably put him, then that was
[14:55] Speaker 1: still their weakest position group, right? But we've made it
[15:03] Speaker 1: in this world such that the quarterback is the answer
[15:06] Speaker 1: for everything, in spite of if we see it here.
[15:10] Speaker 4: And, you know, people like him, right? He is a
[15:12] Speaker 4: well-liked player.
[15:15] Speaker 1: It's going to take more for me to change where
[15:17] Speaker 1: I come from on Jalen Hurts than it did for
[15:19] Speaker 1: me to change where I came from on Josh Allen. Now, granted,
[15:21] Speaker 1: I never thought he was terrible like I thought Josh
[15:23] Speaker 1: Allen was terrible. But I'm not, I don't think I
[15:27] Speaker 1: can get there to top five, or at least I
[15:29] Speaker 1: am not there yet. If he shows that he, like
[15:31] Speaker 1: a leap, not even a leap, but a jump in
[15:33] Speaker 1: his play, I might be able to ride out with you,
[15:36] Speaker 1: but they still don't seem like they really want to
[15:38] Speaker 1: throw the ball unless they got to.
[15:40] Speaker 2: Yeah, and if any other situation you could survive, or
[15:44] Speaker 2: not even survive, thrive the way they thrived without throwing
[15:47] Speaker 2: the ball, of course you don't. Because you know what's
[15:50] Speaker 2: high risk, high reward is throwing a deep pass. You
[15:52] Speaker 2: know what's low risk and high reward? Running that thing
[15:56] Speaker 2: for 55 yards. So they had a unique situation, and
[15:58] Speaker 2: he played well in important moments. The conversation about Jalen
[16:03] Speaker 2: that I find more interesting, rather than making these comparisons,
[16:07] Speaker 2: it's just like how astonishing his career has been.
[16:10] Speaker 4: Amazing.
[16:11] Speaker 2: Like the track record. And the thing that I marvel
[16:17] Speaker 2: at for him is how every situation there are major
[16:20] Speaker 2: setbacks that would be like, oh, ain't nobody coming back
[16:24] Speaker 2: from this. And somehow he comes back. And jumps over it.
[16:27] Speaker 2: That's why I kind of feel like the people, especially
[16:31] Speaker 2: since Jalen doesn't seem to care that much, the people
[16:33] Speaker 2: who constantly want us to compare him to Patrick Mahomes
[16:38] Speaker 2: and the likes of them are doing him a disservice.
[16:41] Speaker 2: It kind of feels like I ran... a marathon and
[16:47] Speaker 2: you like, but what about them ultras though? I just
[16:52] Speaker 2: ran damn near 25 miles. Can we, like that to
[16:55] Speaker 2: me is what's so impressive about, we can go through
[16:59] Speaker 2: the whole history of his career, but he obviously, he
[17:02] Speaker 2: kind of failed to some degree at Alabama, then went
[17:05] Speaker 2: on and won the Heisman somewhere else. Well, hold on.
[17:08] Speaker 4: This is where it's interesting, right?
[17:10] Speaker 1: It's major setbacks while also being wildly successful.
[17:18] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[17:18] Speaker 4: Okay.
[17:19] Speaker 1: So freshman year at Alabama, he was the offensive player
[17:22] Speaker 1: of the year. He was first team, all SEC. And
[17:26] Speaker 1: if I'm not mistaken, he was a Heisman Trophy finalist, right?
[17:29] Speaker 1: Like he was way up there. And then they were, oh, see,
[17:34] Speaker 1: remember they got mad at me because I said every
[17:36] Speaker 1: team Jalen Hurts has been on has ultimately been held
[17:39] Speaker 1: back by his shortcomings as a passer, which by the way,
[17:43] Speaker 1: when I said that was absolutely true. He gets to Alabama,
[17:48] Speaker 1: I mean, Oklahoma. And if I'm not mistaken, he was
[17:51] Speaker 1: Heisman Trophy runner up first team, all big 12, third team.
[17:58] Speaker 4: All American as I'm looking at it. Not that good
[18:02] Speaker 4: a passer.
[18:02] Speaker 1: But again, everything I'm saying, yeah, but look at the
[18:05] Speaker 1: wild success that we're talking about at the top level
[18:08] Speaker 1: of it. His second year as an NFL starter. They
[18:11] Speaker 1: made it to the Super Bowl where he played a
[18:14] Speaker 1: better game than Patrick Mahomes.
[18:16] Speaker 2: That's the crazy part, man.
[18:18] Speaker 4: But then the next year it was like, bro, I
[18:20] Speaker 4: don't know about your meds. Like it's it's we say
[18:25] Speaker 4: we keep talking setbacks.
[18:27] Speaker 1: But there's so many highs that if that's all you
[18:30] Speaker 1: ever did, would it be great?
[18:34] Speaker 2: It just feels so unfair as soon as he does these.
[18:38] Speaker 2: And it's not even that they're setbacks. They feel like
[18:42] Speaker 2: falls that would be almost impossible to come back from.
[18:45] Speaker 2: It's like on the highest stage at Alabama, they benched
[18:50] Speaker 2: him and the other guy took his spot. It's hard
[18:52] Speaker 2: to bounce back from that. And then you're a second
[18:55] Speaker 2: round pick behind a guy who's a damn near wins
[18:58] Speaker 2: the MVP. It's hard to come in there and take
[19:00] Speaker 2: that spot. Then you go to Super Bowl play well
[19:03] Speaker 2: and have a really like a bad season the following
[19:06] Speaker 2: year in your second pick. It's hard to come back
[19:08] Speaker 2: from that. He then comes back and balls out in
[19:11] Speaker 2: a Super Bowl again and wins one and gets a
[19:12] Speaker 2: Super Bowl MVP. It's that all the Jalen Hurts supporters,
[19:16] Speaker 2: if you really cared about him, that's what we need
[19:18] Speaker 2: to be focusing on. Stop pushing him out here to
[19:21] Speaker 2: go fight these other bullies. Let's celebrate what he's done
[19:24] Speaker 2: so far.
[19:25] Speaker 1: Well, I will say, though, the one thing that I
[19:29] Speaker 1: don't think was as hard as you pointed to was
[19:32] Speaker 1: unseating Carson Wentz.
[19:34] Speaker 4: I have two rationale.
[19:36] Speaker 1: Number one, for whatever reason, the people around him don't
[19:41] Speaker 1: seem to like him that much. I don't know why.
[19:46] Speaker 1: But number two, second round picks unseated. are intended to
[19:51] Speaker 1: be starters. Somebody took him with the thought of, you know,
[19:56] Speaker 1: maybe we can get.
[19:57] Speaker 4: This other cat out of here and do it for
[20:00] Speaker 4: the cheap. But you're right.
[20:02] Speaker 1: He has pulled it off. And now this year is
[20:04] Speaker 1: going to be interesting because they don't have all the
[20:06] Speaker 1: same guys, right? Like, Mekhi Becton not playing left guard
[20:10] Speaker 1: or whichever guard he played for you. They didn't dare
[20:12] Speaker 1: put him on the same side as Lane, did they?
[20:14] Speaker 2: He was on the right.
[20:16] Speaker 4: Oh, God.
[20:16] Speaker 2: I think he was on the right.
[20:17] Speaker 4: The eclipse. They just had an eclipse on the right
[20:20] Speaker 4: side of the line. I can't imagine.
[20:21] Speaker 1: You imagine you play over there and it's Lane on
[20:24] Speaker 1: the other side.
[20:24] Speaker 4: And you're like, no, let me get the light work.
[20:26] Speaker 4: The 375-pound guy next to him.
[20:31] Speaker 2: First round pick.
[20:33] Speaker 1: I told you, I posted up with Lane at Super
[20:35] Speaker 1: Bowl in Vegas and I just couldn't believe it.
[20:40] Speaker 2: Yeah, Lane, I remember, I think it was at the
[20:43] Speaker 2: same party we saw where he was walking around with
[20:45] Speaker 2: a diamond chain.
[20:46] Speaker 4: Big old chain.
[20:46] Speaker 2: I was like, man, I didn't even know how to
[20:49] Speaker 2: feel or think. It just, yeah, sometimes it's just different
[20:53] Speaker 2: species of humans and Lane fits in that category.
[20:58] Speaker 4: Ryan says that Lane Johnson used to be a quarterback.
[21:01] Speaker 2: Yeah, I've heard that.
[21:03] Speaker 1: I don't understand what that means. Like, what are you
[21:06] Speaker 1: talking about? Quarterback where and how? Like, I'm hearing this
[21:10] Speaker 1: and I'm suspended.
[21:13] Speaker 2: He was a quarterback in Juco. Hold up, hold up.
[21:18] Speaker 4: So we're not even talking about like seventh grade.
[21:20] Speaker 2: No, no, no, not in high school. He played quarterback
[21:22] Speaker 2: in tight end at Juco.
[21:24] Speaker 4: What fucking offense were they running?
[21:27] Speaker 2: Would Lane Johnson show up and say, I'm a quarterback?
[21:30] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[21:31] Speaker 4: I mean, yo, let me tell you this.
[21:33] Speaker 1: I just thought of something that could... I mean, maybe
[21:36] Speaker 1: it would mess the party up.
[21:37] Speaker 2: Oh, I know.
[21:38] Speaker 4: You know what I just thought about, didn't you?
[21:40] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[21:40] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[21:42] Speaker 1: Just pushing Lane Johnson as quarterback.
[21:47] Speaker 2: I just thought about it.
[21:48] Speaker 4: Would you.
[21:49] Speaker 1: Would you lose with like with losing Lane Johnson as
[21:52] Speaker 1: the tackle mess it up or would it make the
[21:54] Speaker 1: touch push absolutely more unstoppable?
[21:57] Speaker 2: Yeah, it would make it. I mean, that should be
[21:59] Speaker 2: first down play. We get four at least. We get
[22:02] Speaker 2: four at least. And that reminds me of like the
[22:05] Speaker 2: Trent Williams when the 49ers had that man running in motion.
[22:10] Speaker 2: To kick out.
[22:11] Speaker 4: Oh, me and you both were like, hey, y'all can't
[22:13] Speaker 4: allow this.
[22:14] Speaker 2: Rules committee. Hey, I need to send y'all this video.
[22:20] Speaker 1: That's like that in all the plays that Big Brain
[22:22] Speaker 1: Ben used to run for Sewell.
[22:24] Speaker 2: Yep, exactly. I think so. My son is probably going
[22:28] Speaker 2: to play tackle for the first time this year. And
[22:30] Speaker 2: they're like certain rules to keep like the bigger kids
[22:34] Speaker 2: in certain leagues away. Like you can't be like 220
[22:37] Speaker 2: and running the ball because nobody can't tackle you. Yeah,
[22:40] Speaker 2: we need to institute some of that around here, around
[22:42] Speaker 2: the NFL.
[22:43] Speaker 1: I've been thinking about this with Sewell. And just before
[22:46] Speaker 1: I say this, I need y'all to understand. I'm not
[22:50] Speaker 1: the one being racist. How soon is Vince McMahon at
[22:55] Speaker 1: Sewell's door the second he says he don't want to
[22:57] Speaker 1: play football no more? Like, I'm actually surprised that Vince
[23:00] Speaker 1: McMahon wasn't in the parking lot at Oregon every day
[23:04] Speaker 1: trying to figure out how to get Sewell to be
[23:06] Speaker 1: a wrestler.
[23:08] Speaker 2: I mean, wouldn't The history of wrestling is not even
[23:13] Speaker 2: with you being in your nationality. If we can trick them,
[23:18] Speaker 2: we gonna trick them.
[23:20] Speaker 1: I'm just saying, him as a Polynesian is a long
[23:23] Speaker 1: line of big old athletic Polynesians. Other than The Rock,
[23:29] Speaker 1: when's the last time we had a really good Polynesian wrestler?
[23:32] Speaker 1: I ain't been paying attention because the problem was all
[23:35] Speaker 1: the portrayals of the Polynesian wrestlers were Over the top racist.
[23:40] Speaker 1: Like it always seemed like Jimmy Superfly Schnooker was ready
[23:43] Speaker 1: to drink out of somebody's head. Like crack it open.
[23:47] Speaker 1: They always had him out there. Like they was about
[23:50] Speaker 1: to eat Captain Cook. Oh, I forgot Roman Reigns. He
[23:53] Speaker 1: Apollo Nietzsche.
[23:53] Speaker 2: Oh, is he?
[23:54] Speaker 4: Oh, okay.
[23:54] Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't know. I don't follow it like I
[23:56] Speaker 2: used to, obviously.
[23:57] Speaker 5: I don't know.
[23:58] Speaker 2: But I do remember that they just had to cheat code.
[24:01] Speaker 2: They're like, look, we, we, you know how we can
[24:03] Speaker 2: tell stories. is if we show you something and we
[24:06] Speaker 2: know exactly what you're thinking, we gonna reinforce it. We
[24:09] Speaker 2: don't gotta drive it home anymore than we already have.
[24:11] Speaker 4: That's correct.
[24:12] Speaker 1: But I still think that Panay Sewell, like, they would've,
[24:15] Speaker 1: I don't know if he got a brother, but Vince
[24:17] Speaker 1: would've made them a tag team. They'd have been out
[24:20] Speaker 1: there doing some incredible moves.
[24:22] Speaker 4: Oh, my God.
[24:23] Speaker 1: You know the thing where you give him, throw him,
[24:26] Speaker 1: what they call it, the Irish whip, and then you
[24:28] Speaker 1: throw him in the ropes, and then when they run
[24:30] Speaker 1: at you, you jump up like spread eagle over him.
[24:33] Speaker 4: I bet you Sewell can do that.
[24:34] Speaker 1: I would be afraid for him to try that trick
[24:36] Speaker 1: on my watch, but I bet you Sewell could do that.
[24:38] Speaker 2: There was just like a random D-line in that, and
[24:42] Speaker 2: when I was in Denver, that could just hit backflips.
[24:45] Speaker 2: I was just like, I couldn't do a backflip. I
[24:48] Speaker 2: was 200 pounds lighter than him. And faster, more explosive.
[24:52] Speaker 2: It's just like the level. Who was the guy? It
[24:56] Speaker 2: was Tristan Wirfs, right? That man did a vertical leap
[25:02] Speaker 2: out of a pool. Go try it. Google it. Look
[25:08] Speaker 2: it up. Watch him do it. Then go goddamn try it.
[25:13] Speaker 4: Do you know how hard that is? It's absurd.
[25:16] Speaker 2: You know how much strength you have to have and power?
[25:19] Speaker 2: It's not just strength and power. exposed because he's also big.
[25:23] Speaker 2: You throw your body out of a pool.
[25:26] Speaker 1: I believe is that also when it works, worse went
[25:30] Speaker 1: to Iowa.
[25:31] Speaker 2: Oh yeah. Iowa.
[25:32] Speaker 4: Yeah. Okay.
[25:33] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[25:33] Speaker 1: That Iowa strength program, man, that Iowa strength program is
[25:39] Speaker 1: a whole nother thing. I'd also want to say this
[25:41] Speaker 1: while I'm thinking about it with the Polynesians. Don't the
[25:44] Speaker 1: Polynesians break all of our binary race-based assumptions of athletic
[25:48] Speaker 1: ability and Like, where do the Polynesians fall in on this?
[25:52] Speaker 1: I don't know.
[25:53] Speaker 2: Yeah, we haven't paid. I mean, outside of football, it's and.
[25:58] Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I mean, I seem to be the
[26:01] Speaker 1: only sport that we really done got them into. But
[26:03] Speaker 1: they be out there running. They be out there jumping.
[26:05] Speaker 1: They be doing all that stuff. And all I'm saying
[26:08] Speaker 1: is like that boy Tua, if we didn't know that
[26:11] Speaker 1: Polynesia existed. Where he get his hair cut at, you
[26:16] Speaker 1: feel me?
[26:17] Speaker 2: Right?
[26:18] Speaker 4: Like they would be saying that's us.
[26:20] Speaker 2: Yeah, his brother went to Maryland and was a quarterback
[26:23] Speaker 2: there for a while. And yeah, that's us.
[26:27] Speaker 4: Yeah, they out there trying to explain to the cops. No, no, no.
[26:32] Speaker 2: No, no, no.
[26:33] Speaker 4: Why you going through my shit, man? Like, no, come on, man. Oh,
[26:37] Speaker 4: it happened.
[26:38] Speaker 1: Y'all think, Reed, Reed, don't you see all these letters?
[26:42] Speaker 1: That ain't African. You know what I'm saying?
[26:44] Speaker 4: They out here trying to get out of the, get
[26:45] Speaker 4: out of the trick bag. Cause they've been discriminated against
[26:48] Speaker 4: in that moment.
[26:50] Speaker 2: I can't get past the jumping out of a pool.
[26:52] Speaker 2: It's summertime. So y'all, y'all are y'all probably in pools
[26:55] Speaker 2: every now and then just try it.
[26:57] Speaker 1: The other thing is, it's not just the fact that
[26:59] Speaker 1: you could jump out the pool and make it is
[27:01] Speaker 1: that you got to have the confidence to know you got,
[27:03] Speaker 1: you got to make that clearly because otherwise this could
[27:06] Speaker 1: turn into a catastrophe.
[27:07] Speaker 2: Yeah. at that size like what are you doing man
[27:11] Speaker 2: there's only there's only one way to get out of
[27:13] Speaker 2: pools it's a climb out that's the only way anyone's
[27:16] Speaker 2: ever gotten out of pools sometimes with a ladder sometimes
[27:18] Speaker 2: on the ledge no one's ever gotten out of a
[27:21] Speaker 2: pool in any other way there's many ways to get
[27:23] Speaker 2: in the pool but there's only one way to get
[27:25] Speaker 2: out unless your name is tristan works i ain't never
[27:27] Speaker 2: seen nobody else do.
[27:28] Speaker 1: That well i also think the other thing that people
[27:30] Speaker 1: lose sight of generally speaking about the athleticism of offensive
[27:33] Speaker 1: linemen is they're not faster than you but they're faster
[27:36] Speaker 1: than me They're faster than 95% of the people who
[27:40] Speaker 1: are listening to this podcast.
[27:41] Speaker 4: Like, oh, man, he ran a 5.2 in the 40.
[27:44] Speaker 4: You go do it.
[27:46] Speaker 1: Go do it right now, and I bet you're not
[27:47] Speaker 1: going to put up no 5.2.
[27:49] Speaker 2: That is always funny how people just assume, yeah, that
[27:54] Speaker 2: they can run a certain time. Like, it happens every year.
[27:56] Speaker 2: No one gets out of it. Like, yeah, y'all listening,
[27:59] Speaker 2: y'all running 7.6s. Like, it's a long, long way, unless
[28:04] Speaker 2: you're a college athlete or something. It's a long way
[28:07] Speaker 2: to run.
[28:07] Speaker 1: Yeah, most of y'all ain't getting no 40-yard. And them
[28:10] Speaker 1: big boys be out there getting it. Like when Andre
[28:12] Speaker 1: Smith that year, when he was out there with them
[28:15] Speaker 1: thangs swanging left and right and we had all them jokes,
[28:17] Speaker 1: his big ass was running faster than you could.
[28:21] Speaker 2: Oh, gosh. I'm sorry. I got sidetracked. I was just
[28:23] Speaker 2: watching this man explode out of a pool.
[28:28] Speaker 1: I tell you, man, that sizzle reel that the Iowa
[28:31] Speaker 1: strength program, you know, they had to get rid of
[28:34] Speaker 1: that one strength coach, you know, because all that sizzle.
[28:38] Speaker 1: In fact, we need to go look at the roster, man,
[28:40] Speaker 1: see if they got any more of the new phenomenon
[28:43] Speaker 1: coming out of there. Because they had our boy Coop,
[28:46] Speaker 1: Riley Moss. They be trying the new phenomenon out there.
[28:50] Speaker 1: Shout out to the OG new phenomenon from Iowa, Tim Dwight.
[28:54] Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
[28:55] Speaker 2: Riley Moss is underappreciated. Coop got a lot of love
[28:58] Speaker 2: because of his basketball tape and because his team was
[29:01] Speaker 2: really good and he played in big-time moments and made plays.
[29:04] Speaker 2: I don't mean this to be judgmental of him, but
[29:07] Speaker 2: I think we got to be honest. He's a hell
[29:11] Speaker 2: of a white nickel. Nickel.
[29:15] Speaker 4: Nickel.
[29:16] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Emphasize that. Yeah. My bad. Oh, no, no.
[29:25] Speaker 4: You did just fine. I just need you to know
[29:28] Speaker 4: who your real friends are. You know what I'm saying?
[29:30] Speaker 4: I'm not going to leave you out there.
[29:31] Speaker 2: I appreciate it. And I know that Cooper DeGene, you
[29:35] Speaker 2: and I were on this early. I know he has
[29:38] Speaker 2: the ability to play on the outside. and does sometimes.
[29:42] Speaker 2: But we underappreciate Riley Moss because that man play on
[29:46] Speaker 2: the outside all the time. And he plays opposite Patrick Sertan.
[29:50] Speaker 2: And that's not even it. On a defense, on a
[29:54] Speaker 2: defense that only plays man-to-man coverage. Every snap just about.
[30:01] Speaker 4: Milk check every down.
[30:04] Speaker 1: I had not considered the fact that he is the
[30:07] Speaker 1: other corner. And you as someone who has lived a
[30:10] Speaker 1: life as being the other corner on the other side
[30:13] Speaker 1: of that guy.
[30:14] Speaker 4: You getting a workout today, buddy.
[30:17] Speaker 2: I've been the other corner on the other side of
[30:19] Speaker 2: one of the best in the league and in the
[30:21] Speaker 2: history of the league. And I also... have a complexion
[30:24] Speaker 2: that will make you think twice and put up a
[30:26] Speaker 2: 40 time that might make you run some short routes.
[30:30] Speaker 2: Riley Moss is out there. And again, I played in
[30:33] Speaker 2: a defense that we mixed some zone in. We did
[30:35] Speaker 2: a lot of zero blitzes and some man coverage, but
[30:38] Speaker 2: we mixed in some fours and twos. That ain't really
[30:40] Speaker 2: what they doing. I ain't looked up the percentage, but
[30:42] Speaker 2: they have to lead the league in man coverage percentage.
[30:45] Speaker 2: And he just out there manned up all game long.
[30:49] Speaker 1: I think part of why Coop gets the attention is,
[30:52] Speaker 1: I remember where Riley Moss was going through draft process.
[30:54] Speaker 1: I think he was a second or third round pick,
[30:56] Speaker 1: somewhere in there. But, you know, the projections were that
[30:59] Speaker 1: he would be there. You'd see people talking about it,
[31:01] Speaker 1: but they didn't really, like, get into the conversation. And
[31:04] Speaker 1: I think he walked so that Coop could run. Like,
[31:07] Speaker 1: once it became clear that Riley Moss was an actual, like,
[31:11] Speaker 1: NFL player, now we... But even then, they were still
[31:14] Speaker 1: real skeptical on our guy Coop, right? I think they
[31:17] Speaker 1: started looking at him a little closer, like, huh, look
[31:19] Speaker 1: at that nose.
[31:19] Speaker 4: I think he might be able to.
[31:21] Speaker 1: I think he might be able to get it done.
[31:25] Speaker 2: Trying to claim my man.
[31:30] Speaker 4: That's right.
[31:31] Speaker 2: That's right, man. Oh, goodness, man.
[31:34] Speaker 4: Coming up next. Coming up next. We're going to talk
[31:36] Speaker 4: about Jerry Jones being all something a little bit cuckoo.
[31:39] Speaker 2: All right.
[31:41] Speaker 1: We are back with Dominique Foxworth. And I was sitting
[31:45] Speaker 1: here minding my own business, getting ready for the show.
[31:48] Speaker 4: Coming up with stuff.
[31:49] Speaker 1: And I look up on the television and you up
[31:51] Speaker 1: there with Adam Schefter and you were there with Ryan Clark.
[31:55] Speaker 1: And Adam Schefter was explaining how the Michael Parsons deal
[31:58] Speaker 1: is not imminent because Michael Parsons just at practice looking
[32:01] Speaker 1: sad every day, right?
[32:03] Speaker 4: Just looking bummed out.
[32:05] Speaker 1: But he got to come so they don't find him,
[32:07] Speaker 1: you know, take his money away from him. And Adam
[32:10] Speaker 1: Schefter told us the reason that apparently a deal has
[32:14] Speaker 1: not been done with Michael Parsons.
[32:16] Speaker 4: And if you haven't heard this, this is pretty amazing.
[32:20] Speaker 1: So apparently, Jerry Jones and Micah Parsons had worked out
[32:26] Speaker 1: the framework of a deal. Notice I say Jerry Jones
[32:30] Speaker 1: and Micah Parsons. I don't mean Jerry Jones and Micah
[32:32] Speaker 1: Parsons camp. I mean Jerry Jones and Micah Parsons had
[32:37] Speaker 1: worked this deal out. And at some point, Micah Parsons' agent,
[32:43] Speaker 1: David Mulgeda, was like, what?
[32:46] Speaker 4: You lost your mind.
[32:48] Speaker 1: And so now he's coming in and trying to undo
[32:51] Speaker 1: some of what had been discussed, right?
[32:56] Speaker 5: But Jerry Jones is like, hey, deal's a deal. Well,
[33:00] Speaker 5: you already worked that part out. And that is a
[33:02] Speaker 5: significant part of why we're still here. The way Adam
[33:05] Speaker 5: Schefter talked about it is the idea of the deal
[33:07] Speaker 5: is foregone conclusion is not there.
[33:09] Speaker 1: That they've got to undo and redo in order to
[33:13] Speaker 1: make this happen.
[33:14] Speaker 4: And Dominique, how did they make this so difficult?
[33:17] Speaker 1: I mean, you don't give Michael Parsons exactly what he
[33:21] Speaker 1: asked for, but you kind of do.
[33:25] Speaker 2: I was going to say that I don't want to
[33:26] Speaker 2: repeat the stuff that I said on Get Up, but
[33:29] Speaker 2: I imagine that. excuse me, not everybody is watching.
[33:33] Speaker 1: Hold on, you're not required to make up new answers
[33:35] Speaker 1: when the answer is the answer.
[33:37] Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying? Just so you know. We
[33:39] Speaker 4: can't let these motherfuckers have this because I've been seeing
[33:41] Speaker 4: this happen too. We were like, man, you said the
[33:43] Speaker 4: same thing over. Sometimes you do that.
[33:47] Speaker 2: I just have a hard time because I understand when
[33:52] Speaker 2: there are situations, I understand why some negotiations get difficult
[33:58] Speaker 2: and contentious. Like, While I rarely and probably never as
[34:02] Speaker 2: fair end up on the side of management, I understand.
[34:06] Speaker 2: I pipe down a little bit if that argument has happened.
[34:10] Speaker 2: I just might avoid that topic because I don't feel
[34:13] Speaker 2: like caping for them. This one don't make no sense. Like,
[34:17] Speaker 2: this is a simple situation, and there are negotiations in this.
[34:22] Speaker 2: This should not be a negotiation. I think this is
[34:24] Speaker 2: tantamount to a max salary in basketball. Like, it's time.
[34:31] Speaker 2: This is what he get. Pay him. This is not
[34:33] Speaker 2: someone you should negotiate with. He was a first round
[34:36] Speaker 2: pick who performed better than you, who performed like on
[34:39] Speaker 2: a Hall of Fame track. What are we doing? You
[34:44] Speaker 2: pay him $ 1 more than the person who got paid
[34:47] Speaker 2: at that position prior to him. You make him the
[34:50] Speaker 2: highest paid non-quarterback in the league. The sooner you can
[34:52] Speaker 2: do it, the better off you can be. That's what
[34:55] Speaker 2: I don't understand is you have to understand that There
[34:59] Speaker 2: are some car dealerships you can go into and haggle.
[35:03] Speaker 2: There are some that the price is the price because
[35:07] Speaker 2: it's so rare and valuable. Tell me somebody who got
[35:10] Speaker 2: a good deal on a brand new Lamborghini. Never happened.
[35:15] Speaker 2: Not never. Not never. Just go in there and pay.
[35:18] Speaker 2: That's what doesn't make sense to me. It's just not
[35:21] Speaker 2: how it works. It's how it's ever worked. I don't
[35:22] Speaker 2: know what they're doing from the cowboy side.
[35:24] Speaker 4: He is.
[35:25] Speaker 1: I've been thinking about this He is probably the greatest
[35:32] Speaker 1: non-terp defensive player in the history of the Dallas Cowboys.
[35:38] Speaker 1: Only that one terp I can think of. DeMarcus Ware
[35:42] Speaker 1: is maybe in the conversation also, right?
[35:44] Speaker 4: But if we're not talking about Randy White, I can't
[35:46] Speaker 4: think of a Cowboy. Oh, Diaz Adams.
[35:50] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[35:51] Speaker 4: But you can make an argument.
[35:53] Speaker 1: Given the thing that gets lost because they don't ask
[35:56] Speaker 1: him to do it anymore is that Michael Parsons would
[35:59] Speaker 1: be maybe the best off-ball linebacker too, right? Because the
[36:04] Speaker 1: plan was not for him to be an edge rusher
[36:06] Speaker 1: when he got there. Otherwise, he does not go number
[36:08] Speaker 1: 12 or whatever it was in the draft.
[36:10] Speaker 4: Then they're like, oh, he could do that too? Okay, cool.
[36:13] Speaker 4: He's that guy. There's no way around it. I can't believe...
[36:19] Speaker 4: I could understand why it might take you a while
[36:21] Speaker 4: to come to a consensus with C.D. Lamb.
[36:23] Speaker 1: I could understand how it is that you don't want
[36:25] Speaker 1: to have to make yourself pay Dak Prescott all that money.
[36:27] Speaker 4: You should be excited about giving that money to Michael Parsons.
[36:30] Speaker 2: You can't wait. Like, there's no way that it helps you. So, like,
[36:34] Speaker 2: if you pay him sooner, the price is lower. If
[36:37] Speaker 2: you pay him sooner, your cap hit is lower. If
[36:40] Speaker 2: you pay him sooner, then you have him extended through
[36:44] Speaker 2: the period where he is most impactful. You pay him sooner,
[36:48] Speaker 2: you have money to negotiate, to add other people to
[36:51] Speaker 2: this roster. And when there are players, like there are
[36:54] Speaker 2: some deals that are easy to do. And I don't
[36:57] Speaker 2: understand why you want to expend so much of this capital. Like,
[37:01] Speaker 2: I don't know. And the fact that David Mugeta is a,
[37:05] Speaker 2: like a long time, really successful, like one of the
[37:08] Speaker 2: best agents in football. The fact that he is the
[37:11] Speaker 2: agent makes it even easier. You ain't pulling the fast
[37:15] Speaker 2: one on him, man. He know the game. And he also, like,
[37:18] Speaker 2: he ain't trying to do nothing tricky. I don't know
[37:19] Speaker 2: what he's asking for, but he ain't trying to make
[37:22] Speaker 2: a name for himself. You know what the deal is.
[37:25] Speaker 2: Sign the deal.
[37:26] Speaker 4: And they got a good team. Yeah. I think it is...
[37:30] Speaker 4: Because they.
[37:31] Speaker 1: Are such an understandable object of ridicule, it's easy to
[37:37] Speaker 1: lose sight of the fact they won.
[37:38] Speaker 4: Seven games last year with a very hurt Dak Prescott, right? Now,
[37:42] Speaker 4: they gave up. Holy shit. Do you know how many
[37:46] Speaker 4: points they gave up last year?
[37:47] Speaker 1: Yeah, a lot.
[37:48] Speaker 4: Do you know the exact number?
[37:50] Speaker 2: I don't. 468.
[37:51] Speaker 4: To put this in context, the Eagles.
[38:00] Speaker 4: Scored 463 that's not right right so it was like
[38:03] Speaker 4: the eagles gave.
[38:04] Speaker 1: Up 303 the cowboys gave up 468 even better context
[38:07] Speaker 1: the giants gave up 450 oh i mean that's awful
[38:08] Speaker 1: awful awful.
[38:25] Speaker 4: Awful, but they still have a chance to be pretty good.
[38:28] Speaker 1: My expectation is that this Washington thing is not going to.
[38:32] Speaker 4: Go for people the way that they expect it to.
[38:34] Speaker 1: I think I always, my assumption with young quarterback in
[38:40] Speaker 1: year two is not, and it's only up from here.
[38:42] Speaker 1: That's People tend to catch on to whatever it is
[38:48] Speaker 1: Cliff has been doing. You know, you got that situation. Oh,
[38:51] Speaker 1: and they ain't giving Terry McLaurin his money, which is
[38:53] Speaker 1: another confusing one. But all right, whatever y'all think, right?
[38:58] Speaker 1: The Cowboys got a good chance to be second in
[39:00] Speaker 1: that division, which can be a Super Bowl contender, to
[39:03] Speaker 1: be honest.
[39:04] Speaker 4: You know, you get the right draw. You can make
[39:06] Speaker 4: this happen. This the guy you just got to get
[39:08] Speaker 4: a bread to, man.
[39:10] Speaker 1: But Jerry, my thing with Jerry now is, And I've
[39:13] Speaker 1: long thought that Jerry gets a bit of a bad rap.
[39:15] Speaker 1: I think Jerry's a better football man than he has
[39:17] Speaker 1: gotten credit for. I met Jerry in person for the
[39:21] Speaker 1: first time.
[39:21] Speaker 4: In fact, you were with me. I believe it was 2022.
[39:23] Speaker 1: We did a Bob Costas show back on the record
[39:26] Speaker 1: with Bob Costas.
[39:27] Speaker 4: And Jerry was there.
[39:28] Speaker 1: And when you're around Jerry, you can see oh this
[39:30] Speaker 1: is how this is how he traffics this is why
[39:32] Speaker 1: he gets where he is he feels old now and
[39:38] Speaker 1: he never felt old before but he feels old but
[39:41] Speaker 1: is still always at the microphone I love.
[39:46] Speaker 4: Loves it.
[39:47] Speaker 1: But every day you get a whole, and look, it's
[39:50] Speaker 1: tough for cats getting older, man. Every day they know
[39:52] Speaker 1: that they not as sharp as they was the day before,
[39:54] Speaker 1: you know, but Jerry is on the mic every day
[39:57] Speaker 1: and we're seeing it.
[39:59] Speaker 4: We're seeing it and it is not helpful.
[40:02] Speaker 2: And he also like still has the power and influence
[40:06] Speaker 2: that he had before. So I suspect that he allow,
[40:10] Speaker 2: I hope, I mean, I've heard to be fair that,
[40:14] Speaker 2: Some of the football scouting and those decisions are delegated
[40:18] Speaker 2: to younger, more qualified people. Not necessarily more qualified, more
[40:23] Speaker 2: active people. And he still wants to make these bigger
[40:25] Speaker 2: decisions and talk about these bigger decisions, which makes everyone
[40:29] Speaker 2: else's job and life more difficult. But that's the situation.
[40:32] Speaker 2: I don't know any way around it. You started to
[40:34] Speaker 2: go to the Terry McLaurin thing. And this was the
[40:38] Speaker 2: big sticking point for me on Terry McLaurin is, I
[40:42] Speaker 2: understand the position of the commanders where they're like, all right, well,
[40:48] Speaker 2: you ain't better than Justin Jefferson, so we can't pay you.
[40:51] Speaker 2: You're 30 and receivers go down at that point, so
[40:54] Speaker 2: we can't pay you. I get it logically. But you
[40:58] Speaker 2: know who you can't get? Justin Jefferson. You know who
[41:01] Speaker 2: else you can't get? Some receiver under 30. This is
[41:04] Speaker 2: the situation you're in and you believe yourself to be
[41:08] Speaker 2: in some sort of championship window. You have a quarterback
[41:12] Speaker 2: who specializes in throwing the deep ball. You know who
[41:14] Speaker 2: caught most of those? Terry McLaurin. Like, it's about your options.
[41:19] Speaker 2: You don't have any other options unless you want to
[41:22] Speaker 2: take a step back this year, which they may have
[41:25] Speaker 2: to anyway because, I mean, it's just hard in football.
[41:28] Speaker 2: And a lot of their one-score wins, they had a
[41:30] Speaker 2: Hail Mary win. They were like 100% on fourth down
[41:33] Speaker 2: conversions last year. Like, that stuff could change. But you certainly–
[41:37] Speaker 2: not going to be any better without him. So I
[41:39] Speaker 2: really don't get the rationale, especially while you have a
[41:41] Speaker 2: quarterback who's playing MVP-level football for rookie money.
[41:45] Speaker 1: A young guy, man. Like, again, I'm telling you, it's
[41:48] Speaker 1: ups and downs with that. You still need to keep
[41:50] Speaker 1: everything else around the young guy cracking. You still need everything. Man,
[41:55] Speaker 1: you live there, man. I can only imagine how.
[41:58] Speaker 4: Excited they are.
[41:59] Speaker 1: They team good, and it look like they might start
[42:02] Speaker 1: being racist again. Boy, I can't imagine how gassed up
[42:06] Speaker 1: people are down there. For those of you who ain't
[42:08] Speaker 1: seen this, Trump trying to get them to go back
[42:10] Speaker 1: to calling the team the R's.
[42:13] Speaker 4: He wants to get back there.
[42:14] Speaker 2: When you talk about the Washington football team could go
[42:18] Speaker 2: back to being racist, you got to be specific. Because
[42:21] Speaker 2: if they go back to their true racist roots- they're
[42:24] Speaker 2: going to be looking for a quarterback again.
[42:25] Speaker 4: That is true.
[42:26] Speaker 2: That is true. That is true.
[42:27] Speaker 4: That is true.
[42:28] Speaker 1: Yo, the Rs are my greatest example of every time
[42:31] Speaker 1: somebody like the fans won't tolerate progress, what you think
[42:34] Speaker 1: they was giving back that Doug Williams, you, you, you, you,
[42:37] Speaker 1: Doug Williams still ain't paying for nothing around those parts.
[42:39] Speaker 1: You think, you think they was like, nah, I'd rather the,
[42:43] Speaker 1: the way that Dallas fans would rather not win than
[42:45] Speaker 1: do it without me. They would rather lose a look
[42:48] Speaker 1: at Dodgers than win with Anthony Davis.
[42:51] Speaker 4: That is not how they treated that Doug Williams super.
[42:54] Speaker 2: Love it. Love that Doug Williams Super Bowl. Even though
[42:58] Speaker 2: there's a last team in pro football to have black
[43:01] Speaker 2: people on it. Like that Doug Williams Super Bowl.
[43:03] Speaker 1: Dude, I told you, man, you go look at what
[43:06] Speaker 1: their record was before Joe Gibbs.
[43:08] Speaker 4: They the Cardinals.
[43:09] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[43:10] Speaker 4: Like they, they just, they were just like, nah, we'd
[43:12] Speaker 4: rather be sorry.
[43:13] Speaker 2: The Cardinals. Like, I don't know when it was. It
[43:16] Speaker 2: was a few, like 10 years ago or so or
[43:19] Speaker 2: something like that where I realized that how historic a
[43:22] Speaker 2: franchise the Cardinals are. They're the oldest. Right. And we
[43:27] Speaker 2: don't think of them that way because they don't got
[43:30] Speaker 2: no glory days. It's crazy. Like, the Cardinals feel like
[43:34] Speaker 2: an expansion team from the 90s a little bit. But
[43:36] Speaker 2: the Cardinals... been to multiple cities and they've been around
[43:40] Speaker 2: since this shit started and they just ain't had nothing
[43:42] Speaker 2: that we can look to and be like, oh, remember
[43:44] Speaker 2: when they had that dynasty?
[43:45] Speaker 4: Well, because think about it, right?
[43:46] Speaker 1: The Bears, you can talk about the dick of years,
[43:49] Speaker 1: but the Bears, honestly, since like the 1940s, have been sorry.
[43:54] Speaker 2: Right?
[43:54] Speaker 1: They won a championship, I want to say, in 1963.
[43:57] Speaker 1: They won the one in 1985. Otherwise they've been cheats,
[44:00] Speaker 1: but they're the bears. We can point at least to
[44:02] Speaker 1: those points.
[44:02] Speaker 4: We got some names.
[44:03] Speaker 1: The Cardinals ain't got no coach that we think like,
[44:06] Speaker 1: you know, Bruce Arians and like the things they've done,
[44:08] Speaker 1: but you're right. They ain't had no run, but I
[44:10] Speaker 1: believe that of the active franchises, I believe.
[44:13] Speaker 4: They are the oldest and we don't, you're right. We
[44:16] Speaker 4: don't think of them that way at all.
[44:20] Speaker 2: And it's like those old franchises, like their logos mean something.
[44:24] Speaker 2: And it like, it resonates for you. Like that bird
[44:27] Speaker 2: don't do nothing for me, man. That little bird head. Like,
[44:31] Speaker 2: I feel like that, like the bear. See, like, I
[44:34] Speaker 2: see that. I, that Packers emblem. I see that. I'm like, football.
[44:40] Speaker 2: I see that Cardinals bird. I'm like, okay.
[44:42] Speaker 1: Cool somebody looks like a three and a half point
[44:46] Speaker 1: uh underdog like that is.
[44:48] Speaker 2: The steelers man i see that little steelers thing i
[44:51] Speaker 2: think about yeah yo.
[44:53] Speaker 1: And the steelers by the way are another team that
[44:55] Speaker 1: was sorry until they weren't they were the worst team
[44:58] Speaker 1: in the league until the 70s came and they were
[45:01] Speaker 1: like okay got two ideas i hear those black people
[45:04] Speaker 1: colleges have good players and um shall we say, the training.
[45:11] Speaker 4: The prayers, and the vitamins.
[45:13] Speaker 1: They got all the training, the prayers, and the vitamins,
[45:17] Speaker 1: and then they was unreal. But if you took that
[45:19] Speaker 1: six-year period out where they won those four Super Bowls, ooh,
[45:23] Speaker 1: that's another one that's.
[45:25] Speaker 4: A shaky situation.
[45:27] Speaker 2: Yeah, but I mean, since then, though. Yes.
[45:29] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[45:29] Speaker 2: They had, but yeah, that's like the history of it.
[45:32] Speaker 2: And like the, I mean, the Cowboys are kind of
[45:34] Speaker 2: the ultimate example, but they've had some good runs. The
[45:36] Speaker 2: fair thing about the Cowboys, they haven't won championship, but
[45:38] Speaker 2: they had some like meaningful runs since then, including Romo
[45:43] Speaker 2: to Dak.
[45:44] Speaker 4: Oh yeah.
[45:44] Speaker 1: I mean the whole Tom Landry era was like amazing.
[45:48] Speaker 1: He was only sorry for like a couple of years.
[45:51] Speaker 1: And then, you know, the Jerry like.
[45:53] Speaker 4: Got him out of here.
[45:54] Speaker 1: But with the Steelers, the reason I bring that up
[45:56] Speaker 1: and I think often gets lost is Tomlin has the line,
[45:59] Speaker 1: the standard is the standard, right? And it is caught
[46:01] Speaker 1: because Mike Tomlin is like the Jay-Z of football, right?
[46:05] Speaker 4: He got that bar for you that you'll remember.
[46:08] Speaker 1: But take away the four championships in six years. They're
[46:14] Speaker 1: just like everybody else when it comes to Super Bowls, right?
[46:18] Speaker 1: They have won two Super Bowls since 1979.
[46:20] Speaker 4: Two. So, I mean....
[46:24] Speaker 2: To be fair, though, who are you talking about that
[46:28] Speaker 2: does not? Because I know how we got here, so
[46:32] Speaker 2: it doesn't sound crazy, but in isolation, take away the
[46:35] Speaker 2: four Super Bowls in six years.
[46:38] Speaker 4: It does.
[46:38] Speaker 1: But given that that was now 50 years ago, I
[46:42] Speaker 1: think we could look at this a little bit. The
[46:43] Speaker 1: argument that, yes, Tomlin has not won a playoff game
[46:48] Speaker 1: since the Obama administration, which feels somewhat poetic, but neither
[46:52] Speaker 1: here nor there, right? I understand the criticism of them
[46:55] Speaker 1: not winning those playoff games, right? It's kind of a
[46:58] Speaker 1: Marvin Lewis sort of argument. I get where people come.
[47:01] Speaker 4: From on that. The idea that since they're the Steelers,
[47:04] Speaker 4: they're supposed to be competing.
[47:05] Speaker 1: For Super Bowls every year, that is not supported by
[47:09] Speaker 1: the last 45 years of history.
[47:11] Speaker 2: It's not.
[47:12] Speaker 4: They're like everybody else. If they get to it, it'll
[47:14] Speaker 4: be great.
[47:14] Speaker 1: The 49ers in that time period have been to, I
[47:17] Speaker 1: want to say, seven Super Bowls where the Steelers have
[47:22] Speaker 1: been there four.
[47:25] Speaker 4: Like, it's not the same. It's just not.
[47:28] Speaker 1: Nobody talks about the 49ers like, well, you ain't won
[47:30] Speaker 1: no Super Bowls in this time.
[47:31] Speaker 4: 49ers ain't won no Super Bowl since 1994.
[47:34] Speaker 1: Right.
[47:35] Speaker 4: And nobody's like, the standard is the standard.
[47:38] Speaker 2: They've been close. That's fair. Yeah, I'm just looking around at,
[47:43] Speaker 2: I think the Dolphins are another team that I feel
[47:47] Speaker 2: like should, they had, they should be more respected, but
[47:51] Speaker 2: it doesn't feel that way. And they were like the
[47:53] Speaker 2: winningest team for a long time. And they had that
[47:56] Speaker 2: Shula run and Marino. But I'm just looking at these logos, honestly,
[48:01] Speaker 2: right now and like trying to see which ones when
[48:04] Speaker 2: I look at them, I'll be like, oh, and it
[48:07] Speaker 2: ain't the Dolphins, which is unfair to them, I guess.
[48:10] Speaker 1: No, I mean, they they went to five Super Bowls
[48:13] Speaker 1: between the 1970s and 1980s. And they got Don Shula
[48:17] Speaker 1: out of there after a winning season because the standard
[48:20] Speaker 1: was the standard. And the way that people older than
[48:24] Speaker 1: me view the Dolphins is so completely different than people
[48:27] Speaker 1: around our age view them because they were a historically
[48:30] Speaker 1: great franchise and they just been kind of booty ever since,
[48:37] Speaker 1: you know, like the Denver Broncos are a historically great
[48:39] Speaker 1: franchise that we don't think of as a historically great franchise.
[48:43] Speaker 4: For example, then, you know, well, the Raiders used to be.
[48:48] Speaker 2: How many runs do you need? Or like, how do
[48:50] Speaker 2: you determine that? Is it over multiple coaches over different eras?
[48:56] Speaker 2: over multiple quarterbacks like how do you that's a good
[48:59] Speaker 2: question because a lot of these teams they had a
[49:03] Speaker 2: really great run at a good time because i feel
[49:05] Speaker 2: like most of the teams that we think of as
[49:07] Speaker 2: these great historic teams are teams that had dynasties before
[49:12] Speaker 2: free agency or around the onset of free agency and
[49:15] Speaker 2: we're like they're just such a well-run organization like nah
[49:19] Speaker 2: they were just taking advantage of the players better than
[49:21] Speaker 2: everyone else.
[49:21] Speaker 4: Or like you have your burst to run at the
[49:23] Speaker 4: right time.
[49:24] Speaker 1: I mean, the New England Patriots non-Belichick version.
[49:31] Speaker 4: Cheeks.
[49:32] Speaker 1: Even with two Super Bowls. to appearances at least, right?
[49:36] Speaker 1: We're talking about cheeks here. Nobody, like, nobody's like North
[49:40] Speaker 1: Carolina men's basketball, right? Or Alabama football, where we just
[49:44] Speaker 1: be good for a real long time. Yeah, it may
[49:47] Speaker 1: be a little low, but then we gonna pop back
[49:49] Speaker 1: up and get a crack at it. That's not really
[49:51] Speaker 1: how the NFL works. Everybody has had, like, you know,
[49:54] Speaker 1: the Browns had their run again before other people really
[49:58] Speaker 1: got on the black people thing.
[49:59] Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying?
[50:00] Speaker 1: They had a, they had themselves a nice run. The Bengals,
[50:04] Speaker 1: you know, until this Brown took over, you know, they've been,
[50:07] Speaker 1: they had a couple of super bowls that they had
[50:09] Speaker 1: gone to. Honestly, the only team that's been like super
[50:12] Speaker 1: consistently good like that for their entire existence has been
[50:15] Speaker 1: your boys, the Baltimore Ravens.
[50:16] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[50:17] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[50:18] Speaker 2: They, I mean, what they've done has been really impressive
[50:20] Speaker 2: and amazing, but they came in. Yeah. And they didn't even,
[50:25] Speaker 2: they didn't come in in a good situation, but they
[50:27] Speaker 2: were pretty good right away. And it was that draft man.
[50:30] Speaker 2: The draft that you and I talked about. That man,
[50:33] Speaker 2: that man might have, that man, Ozzie Newsome, that man
[50:35] Speaker 2: might have, his first draft as actual general manager of
[50:40] Speaker 2: the Baltimore Ravens, that man messed around and got two
[50:44] Speaker 2: of the best players in the history of their position
[50:46] Speaker 2: and just kicked this thing off right. It ain't turned
[50:49] Speaker 2: back since.
[50:50] Speaker 1: Two guys who have an argument for being the greatest
[50:52] Speaker 1: of all time at their positions. I am about to
[50:56] Speaker 1: read off for you in order a run of Baltimore
[51:02] Speaker 1: Ravens first round picks. I am going to stop at.
[51:05] Speaker 4: The year 2006.
[51:07] Speaker 1: So this is from 1996 to 2006. It's 10 drafts
[51:12] Speaker 1: over 11 years, okay? Jonathan Ogden, Ray Lewis. Now I'm
[51:20] Speaker 1: about to hit him with the sleeper that one of
[51:21] Speaker 1: the boys be forgetting about.
[51:23] Speaker 4: Peter Boulware.
[51:25] Speaker 1: Ooh! Another super edge rusher who also could play off
[51:30] Speaker 1: the ball, right?
[51:31] Speaker 5: Mm-hmm.
[51:31] Speaker 4: Dwayne Starks.
[51:33] Speaker 2: No.
[51:34] Speaker 4: Very good. A very good player. Chris McAllister. Yeah. Jamal Lewis.
[51:41] Speaker 4: Travis Taylor. Todd Heap. Ed Reed. Terrell Suggs.
[51:49] Speaker 2: Kyle Bowler.
[51:51] Speaker 4: Mark Clayton. And Haloti Nada.
[51:54] Speaker 2: Lord.
[51:55] Speaker 1: Okay, so that's three guys who are in the Hall
[51:58] Speaker 1: of Fame right now. Two more who I think will
[52:01] Speaker 1: go in. Not I think is a no-brainer Hall of Famer.
[52:05] Speaker 1: Suggs I don't feel as enthusiastic about, but I still
[52:07] Speaker 1: think he's going to be a Hall of Famer.
[52:08] Speaker 2: He's going to get in, yeah.
[52:11] Speaker 4: Because I'm the kind of guy who would do this.
[52:13] Speaker 4: I would put Jabal Lewis in the Hall of Fame. Right?
[52:17] Speaker 4: Chris McAllister was a monster.
[52:19] Speaker 2: Yep.
[52:20] Speaker 4: That's a hell of a run of picks, old boy.
[52:22] Speaker 2: What are you talking about? I mean... The bottom of
[52:25] Speaker 2: the barrel there, like, if we cut out the complete misses,
[52:28] Speaker 2: we talk about, like, all pro-level, pro-bowl-level guys. Like, Ozzy,
[52:35] Speaker 2: he wasn't missing. I was going to say it's a
[52:36] Speaker 2: high streak, but that ain't a streak, man. It's so long.
[52:42] Speaker 4: This is what I do.
[52:43] Speaker 2: How you get that many Hall of Famers? That's insanity, man.
[52:47] Speaker 1: And it also reminds me of one of my favorite
[52:50] Speaker 1: football pictures of all time. Oh.
[52:54] Speaker 4: Jonathan Ogden, player for St. Albans. And you have to understand, guys, St.
[53:00] Speaker 1: Albans is like a place where very rich people send
[53:03] Speaker 1: their kids in D.C. Jonathan Ogden, 6'9. Okay, I'll put
[53:08] Speaker 1: it this way. You know who played offensive line for St.
[53:12] Speaker 2: Albans?
[53:13] Speaker 1: Not all of you will know this, but if you
[53:15] Speaker 1: are a viewer of the Dominique Foxworth show, Charlie Kravitz.
[53:19] Speaker 4: Played offensive line at St. Albans.
[53:22] Speaker 1: And if Charlie Kravitz had been in that picture of
[53:24] Speaker 1: Jonathan Ogden playing, he would have been the second biggest
[53:27] Speaker 1: person in that picture. I just can't believe that those
[53:29] Speaker 1: rich dorks had the nerve to have to run up
[53:32] Speaker 1: on Jonathan Ogden at any point.
[53:34] Speaker 2: The reason why that picture is so impressive is because
[53:37] Speaker 2: Jonathan is surrounded by a bunch of dudes named Charlie.
[53:41] Speaker 2: That's why it's so amazing. And Jonathan, I mean, he
[53:44] Speaker 2: was on their team, so I'm sure they didn't mind it.
[53:46] Speaker 2: But I guarantee you, There was some other private schools
[53:49] Speaker 2: in that league that was not happy about Jonathan Ogden
[53:54] Speaker 2: coming downhill on their future president.
[53:57] Speaker 1: No, brother, you had to treat that like they treated
[53:59] Speaker 1: Orlando Pace at Ohio State. We're just not even going
[54:01] Speaker 1: to put nobody over there.
[54:02] Speaker 2: Yeah, why not? We're not going to subject nobody to that.
[54:08] Speaker 1: By the way, the 1997 draft, you want to talk
[54:10] Speaker 1: about a sneaky draft, Orlando Pace, Walter.
[54:13] Speaker 4: Jones, and Tony Gonzalez in the top 13.
[54:15] Speaker 1: Hmm.
[54:17] Speaker 2: That's impressive.
[54:18] Speaker 1: With Shaw Springs, Peter Boulware, James Farrier, and my man
[54:22] Speaker 1: Warwick Dunn thrown in there.
[54:24] Speaker 2: Peter Boulware, like that name, Florida State. He was from,
[54:28] Speaker 2: he's from Baltimore too.
[54:30] Speaker 4: No, he is from, no.
[54:31] Speaker 2: I'm thinking about Darnell Dockett, the Baltimore Dunbar.
[54:34] Speaker 4: Boulware is from South Carolina.
[54:38] Speaker 2: He was a monster, man.
[54:40] Speaker 1: Yeah, but the African-Americans would not be fond of his politics,
[54:45] Speaker 1: I don't think.
[54:46] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[54:47] Speaker 4: Like, he run for office on it. Like, it ain't enough.
[54:49] Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying?
[54:50] Speaker 2: Getting his Herschel Walker on?
[54:52] Speaker 4: Yeah, well, hopefully not that far, but yes. Okay. Yes,
[54:55] Speaker 4: they be in the same rooms.
[54:57] Speaker 1: Y'all call them the same name.
[55:01] Speaker 2: Well, you know what? Nobody's concerned about that when he's
[55:05] Speaker 2: getting after the passer. That's right. That's right. You can
[55:09] Speaker 2: talk about all the bootstraps you want to talk about.
[55:11] Speaker 4: Show me your self-hatred, brother.
[55:13] Speaker 2: Go out here and.
[55:15] Speaker 4: Put it out there.
[55:17] Speaker 2: If you do possess any, by the way.
[55:18] Speaker 4: I'm throwing it up as a hypothetical.
[55:20] Speaker 1: The last thing I would say for people, just because
[55:22] Speaker 1: I mentioned Warwick Dunn, Warwick Dunn is like the nicest
[55:24] Speaker 1: man in the world. And Warwick Dunn is the least
[55:27] Speaker 1: assuming football player that you will ever see in person.
[55:30] Speaker 1: And I will tell you an example of this. I'm
[55:32] Speaker 1: in Vegas for the Super Bowl last year and I'm
[55:36] Speaker 1: outside of Circa, the joint down off the strip. And
[55:41] Speaker 1: I'm talking to Warwick Dunn and we say what's up
[55:43] Speaker 1: or whatever. And we get done with the conversation because
[55:46] Speaker 1: my friends walk past me. And I was like, yep,
[55:49] Speaker 1: that was Warwick Dunn. They're like, damn, that was Warwick Dunn?
[55:52] Speaker 5: Yes.
[55:52] Speaker 4: Who were these friends? Charlie Kravitz and Dominique Foxwood. Like,
[55:56] Speaker 4: because why would you think Warwick Dunn was a football player?
[55:59] Speaker 1: Nothing indicates football player about Warwick Dunn unless he's out
[56:03] Speaker 1: there playing football.
[56:04] Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Before that incident, I'd interview Warwick. I've been
[56:08] Speaker 2: around a bunch of times. But, yeah, you know, it's not, yeah,
[56:11] Speaker 2: nothing about him suggests that. And then you see his quickness, athleticism,
[56:15] Speaker 2: it changed your mind.
[56:17] Speaker 4: I be with Warwick Dunn like, damn, I'm feeling a
[56:19] Speaker 4: little tall.
[56:21] Speaker 1: Definitely not big. I never feel big, but I definitely
[56:24] Speaker 1: stand with Warwick Dunn. They gonna be like, damn, do
[56:26] Speaker 1: you hoop?
[56:27] Speaker 4: Are you his agent, perhaps?
[56:29] Speaker 2: We were at a flag football tournament last weekend, and
[56:32] Speaker 2: I ran into Vince Carter at the tournament, whose son
[56:36] Speaker 2: was there. Vince Carter is very into his kid's sports.
[56:41] Speaker 2: He's talking about all his kid's sports and how he's
[56:43] Speaker 2: doing all that stuff. And his son, I think, was
[56:45] Speaker 2: like seven or something. He was younger than my son,
[56:47] Speaker 2: so I didn't see him play. But I could only
[56:49] Speaker 2: imagine the type of athletes that Vince Carter is producing.
[56:54] Speaker 2: He walked over and he was like, yeah, he playing
[56:56] Speaker 2: flag football at like seven, eight years old. Yeah, go
[56:59] Speaker 2: ahead and get it. I don't know who's paying attention.
[57:02] Speaker 2: If you are a general manager for one of these colleges,
[57:05] Speaker 2: but I'm pretty sure you can go ahead and send
[57:07] Speaker 2: an offer over there immediately.
[57:09] Speaker 1: Like Vince Carter did not possess anything What made Michael
[57:14] Speaker 1: Jordan athleticism so crazy was the grace of it, right?
[57:18] Speaker 1: Like the idea that it's like this dude is floating.
[57:20] Speaker 1: It's like he's walking on air. Vince Carter athleticism, just
[57:27] Speaker 1: powerful explosion, like a smaller version of Dominique Wilkins that
[57:32] Speaker 1: could jump higher. Because I did that alt cast with
[57:35] Speaker 1: Vince last year. And so I got to kick it
[57:37] Speaker 1: with him a bit there. He's not a small man
[57:40] Speaker 1: by any chance, but it's not.
[57:42] Speaker 4: You don't really get it. Me and my brother, and
[57:43] Speaker 4: I told.
[57:44] Speaker 1: Vince this, me and my brother thought that Vince Carter
[57:46] Speaker 1: was 6'10.
[57:48] Speaker 4: For years just from watching him tip-dunk when he was
[57:51] Speaker 4: a freshman at Carolina. We're like, what is this?
[57:53] Speaker 1: Like, my man, I got a partner who played pickup
[57:55] Speaker 1: with him at Woolen when he was at Carolina, and
[57:58] Speaker 1: he described it only one way, humbling. Like, it was
[58:01] Speaker 1: at that point where he still thought that he had
[58:03] Speaker 1: a chance to make the hoop thing happen, and then
[58:05] Speaker 1: he'd get out there hooping with Vince. Oh, God.
[58:08] Speaker 4: Humbling, guys. Humbling.
[58:11] Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean... I don't know if his son possesses
[58:14] Speaker 2: the ability or any of his kids possess the ability
[58:17] Speaker 2: to shoot. But no, we're not going to find out.
[58:20] Speaker 2: What I'm saying is the difference between Vince Carter is 6'6.
[58:24] Speaker 2: So if his son is 6'3, 6'2, that's big for football.
[58:30] Speaker 2: And you know, you know what you don't need to
[58:32] Speaker 2: play football. Like it's nice if you have grace or
[58:34] Speaker 2: you have the fine motor coordination or hand out coordination
[58:38] Speaker 2: to repeat the jump shot at like a golfer. That
[58:42] Speaker 2: would be fantastic. We don't need that over here. We
[58:45] Speaker 2: don't need that over here. You got some explosive athleticism?
[58:48] Speaker 2: We're going to find a spot, man. There's a spot
[58:51] Speaker 2: for a 6'2 dude who has explosive, violent athleticism.
[58:55] Speaker 1: Brother, I'm telling you, whatever sport we out here playing,
[58:58] Speaker 1: if Vince Sun say he want to play.
[58:59] Speaker 2: He on deck.
[59:00] Speaker 4: You got a chance, right? You're going to get some reps.
[59:03] Speaker 1: You're going to have the opportunity to show us what
[59:06] Speaker 1: you can or cannot do.
[59:07] Speaker 4: We can't.
[59:08] Speaker 1: Like, it's still so crazy to me. that Virginia Tech
[59:11] Speaker 1: did not offer Steph Curry or Seth A scholarship? Hey, man,
[59:15] Speaker 1: we're going to find out. We're going to find out.
[59:18] Speaker 1: I like Seth Greenberg a lot. That's two balls that
[59:21] Speaker 1: you dropped. Every year, Seth Greenberg would be out here
[59:24] Speaker 1: talking about expanding the tournament to 96 games. You wouldn't
[59:26] Speaker 1: have had 96 teams. You wouldn't have had to do
[59:28] Speaker 1: that if you had just let... I know what people
[59:33] Speaker 1: are going to say when they hear me say this.
[59:35] Speaker 1: If you would just engage in a little nepotism, your
[59:38] Speaker 1: whole career might have gone.
[59:40] Speaker 4: And look, that's the thing about it.
[59:41] Speaker 1: I ain't think the idea of doing the Brody James
[59:45] Speaker 1: thing in the NBA, in the way that the Lakers
[59:48] Speaker 1: did it, I ain't think that was cool. But for USC,
[59:51] Speaker 1: I wouldn't have cared if he averaged half a point
[59:53] Speaker 1: a game in high school.
[59:55] Speaker 4: We'll give you a year. Yeah.
[59:57] Speaker 2: I mean, I don't even think there's a conversation to
[1:00:00] Speaker 2: be had right there. Can he walk and chew gum?
[1:00:04] Speaker 2: All right. There's something in there. Maybe we'll tap into it.
[1:00:07] Speaker 2: Maybe not, but there's something in there that's worth trying.
[1:00:10] Speaker 1: And that is Dominique Fosworth. Check him out on the
[1:00:13] Speaker 1: Dominique Fosworth show available.
[1:00:15] Speaker 4: We're all fine. Podcast a given away for free. My brother.
