Bomani Jones is joined by Domonique Foxworth for another Thursday episode of The Right Time. The guys start by diving into Draymond Green’s rough week in the media, including his back-and-forth with Austin Rivers, his comments about Steve Kerr, and the awkward moment with Charles Barkley on Inside the NBA. Bomani and Domonique break down why some jokes land, why some just feel mean, and why trust matters so much on television. Then they remember Ted Turner, from CNN and the Atlanta Braves to his wild stories, contradictions, and massive impact on media and sports. Finally, they discuss the ongoing Mike Vrabel controversy, the New England Patriots’ strange offseason, and why some scandals just don’t seem to go away Learn more about your ad choices. [0:01] Speaker 1: Wave.
[0:09] Speaker 2: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to The Right Time, a Wave original.
[0:13] Speaker 2: My name is Bomani Jones. Thanks for listening wherever you
[0:15] Speaker 2: get your podcasts. Thanks for watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like,
[0:19] Speaker 2: rate us, review us, give us five stars. You only
[0:22] Speaker 2: give us four stars. I'm inclined to believe you are
[0:25] Speaker 2: a hater. It's Thursdays with Dominique Foxworth.
[0:29] Speaker 3: What's going on, man?
[0:30] Speaker 4: What's up, man?
[0:31] Speaker 5: There's lots of reasons to hate you right now. One
[0:34] Speaker 5: really big reason.
[0:36] Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? I apologize to Emmy. She
[0:39] Speaker 3: in the back. But right now, Larry got to take priority.
[0:42] Speaker 2: The NBA dropped the Larry O'Brien trophy off with us
[0:45] Speaker 2: right now.
[0:45] Speaker 3: Dominique, it come in a Tiffany bag.
[0:48] Speaker 2: And what you can't see is that they got all
[0:51] Speaker 2: the teams that have been champions. Their names is down
[0:54] Speaker 2: here in the trophy, like going around.
[0:57] Speaker 4: That's pretty dope.
[0:58] Speaker 2: What.
[0:59] Speaker 5: I feel like it's super cool to have it on
[1:02] Speaker 5: your desk, take a picture, holding to Larry. But like
[1:07] Speaker 5: you at Harlem, I feel like you got to take
[1:09] Speaker 5: it outside.
[1:10] Speaker 2: You know, that's a great idea. Two points on that.
[1:15] Speaker 2: Number one, Larry is heavy. Number two, Larry is not mine.
[1:21] Speaker 2: And number three, most important, the man that brought Larry
[1:25] Speaker 2: is sitting.
[1:25] Speaker 3: On the other side of that wall. To make sure
[1:28] Speaker 3: nobody does anything silly with Larry. But I can see
[1:31] Speaker 3: myself right here.
[1:32] Speaker 2: And then Emmy over there with Larry. Like, it's a
[1:35] Speaker 2: great shot that we got here with Larry. But let
[1:37] Speaker 2: everybody know that it's serious in the field right here.
[1:40] Speaker 2: The right time is a championship operation.
[1:44] Speaker 4: I love it.
[1:44] Speaker 5: Congratulations to the right time on being home to the
[1:48] Speaker 5: Larry for a little bit.
[1:50] Speaker 4: It's awesome, man. It's pretty cool. We saw it last year.
[1:52] Speaker 4: It's pretty heavy, too.
[1:53] Speaker 2: I was about to say, shout out to Dominique's Decency
[1:54] Speaker 2: for not mentioning the day it actually had it the
[1:56] Speaker 2: year before. But if I had waited just a little
[1:58] Speaker 2: while longer, it was going to come up.
[2:00] Speaker 4: I just said, I said saw it. I said we
[2:03] Speaker 4: saw it.
[2:03] Speaker 3: Oh, I wasn't even going to be mad, by the way.
[2:05] Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, no, no. That's some sideways
[2:09] Speaker 4: hating shit. To be like, a man is happy about something. Oh,
[2:12] Speaker 4: I've been doing that. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[2:14] Speaker 3: When you look bad, like.
[2:16] Speaker 2: I want you to guess who I sent a picture
[2:17] Speaker 2: of this to whose response was, yo, what the hell?
[2:22] Speaker 4: I mean, the one and only. It's got to be Joe, right?
[2:26] Speaker 3: Well, the first text was, what the hell? The next
[2:28] Speaker 3: one was, yo, what the fuck? Now, I think the yo,
[2:30] Speaker 3: what the fuck might have been.
[2:31] Speaker 2: Tied to something that came after it, but it's difficult
[2:33] Speaker 2: to tell from the timing of the text.
[2:35] Speaker 5: To be fair, that's not necessarily hate.
[2:40] Speaker 4: Fair. You could just be like, oh, what the fuck?
[2:42] Speaker 4: You could be happy for somebody. What the hell?
[2:45] Speaker 3: You're right.
[2:46] Speaker 4: I see you play. That could be the same thing.
[2:48] Speaker 3: You're right.
[2:48] Speaker 2: I would like to take this opportunity right now to
[2:51] Speaker 2: apologize to Joel Anderson for usually I'm 100% positive that
[2:55] Speaker 2: he's hating. This time it was merely 75% and that
[2:57] Speaker 2: is outside the confidence interval.
[3:00] Speaker 3: You know what I mean? Like, that's not.
[3:02] Speaker 2: I couldn't put that in a publishable paper at 75%.
[3:07] Speaker 4: I wonder, what is the confidence interval for Joe Hayden?
[3:10] Speaker 2: I feel like it's... It's a steady state for that
[3:14] Speaker 2: man in a lot of ways, right? But now he
[3:17] Speaker 2: out in L.A., living it up right now. We're going
[3:20] Speaker 2: to start this again. You know, I try to avoid
[3:23] Speaker 2: getting too caught up in the media stuff for a
[3:25] Speaker 2: number of reasons.
[3:26] Speaker 4: However.
[3:27] Speaker 2: That boy Draymond stepped in it on Wednesday night, didn't he?
[3:30] Speaker 3: Did you see that?
[3:31] Speaker 4: Yeah, I did.
[3:32] Speaker 5: I mean, it's on the heels of the River stuff, too,
[3:36] Speaker 5: where it's like.
[3:37] Speaker 4: Yeah. I don't know. I.
[3:40] Speaker 5: I hate to break it down to wins and losses,
[3:42] Speaker 5: but I didn't feel like it went well for Draymond.
[3:44] Speaker 4: That first one. The second one certainly didn't.
[3:47] Speaker 2: No, this is what happened with Draymond. For people who
[3:49] Speaker 2: don't know, he wound up going in it, getting in
[3:52] Speaker 2: some sort of online back and forth with Austin Rivers.
[3:55] Speaker 3: And he really went hard at Austin Rivers. Basically, dude.
[3:58] Speaker 2: Discredited the man's whole career and said the biggest bailout
[4:01] Speaker 2: of all time was when Austin's daddy gave him a
[4:03] Speaker 2: $ 42 million contract. Draymond said he averaged the same number
[4:06] Speaker 2: of points in high school that Austin Rivers did, da-da-da,
[4:10] Speaker 2: and all of this stuff.
[4:11] Speaker 3: And look, you can say whatever you want about Austin
[4:13] Speaker 3: Rivers as an NBA player.
[4:15] Speaker 2: Austin Rivers as a high school player is a completely
[4:19] Speaker 2: different discussion.
[4:21] Speaker 5: I saw his response. He's like, I was the number
[4:23] Speaker 5: one player in the country. That ain't charity. They don't
[4:27] Speaker 5: just give that out. I assume that you got.
[4:29] Speaker 4: A good name.
[4:30] Speaker 5: It's going to get more attention. It's going to bump
[4:32] Speaker 5: you up the list, but you still got to be nice.
[4:34] Speaker 2: I need you to understand something. And I've not met
[4:38] Speaker 2: Austin Rivers. I don't know how things have progressed truly
[4:41] Speaker 2: as he has become an adult. I just know the
[4:44] Speaker 2: ways that he affected people, shall we say, as a youngster.
[4:51] Speaker 4: Okay?
[4:53] Speaker 3: It is difficult to make Austin Rivers more likable than
[4:57] Speaker 3: you are. That's not easy work. Okay?
[5:01] Speaker 2: Draymond Green managed to do that in his back.
[5:04] Speaker 3: And forth with Austin Rivers. And you'll have to look
[5:07] Speaker 3: it up.
[5:07] Speaker 2: But the thing that happened with Charles inside the NBA,
[5:10] Speaker 2: I thought was interesting. Because Charles is making the point that, look, man,
[5:13] Speaker 2: Teams that are old don't win. You don't win a
[5:15] Speaker 2: lot when you're 37, 38 years old. And he was
[5:17] Speaker 2: talking about this in the context of the Warriors. Like, look,
[5:19] Speaker 2: you guys are old. This isn't sports for young people.
[5:23] Speaker 2: This isn't how it goes. And Draymond out of nowhere
[5:26] Speaker 2: came with the goal is to not look like you
[5:30] Speaker 2: did when you played for Houston. And I think I
[5:36] Speaker 2: know what happened. Curious if you read this the way
[5:38] Speaker 2: that I did. Draymond's feelings were a little bit hurt
[5:41] Speaker 2: or he was a little salty, right? In his head,
[5:45] Speaker 2: it was time to tell a ha-ha.
[5:47] Speaker 4: Yeah, that's it.
[5:49] Speaker 2: And when it came out, he was DMX. Told a joke,
[5:54] Speaker 2: and nobody laughed.
[5:57] Speaker 3: And you know why? Because it wasn't funny. It was
[5:59] Speaker 3: just mean.
[6:00] Speaker 2: And what Draymond, I don't think, gets is when he
[6:04] Speaker 2: picks on people, it's mean. And nobody likes mean.
[6:10] Speaker 3: And Charles... is.
[6:12] Speaker 2: Not the most sympathetic figure, but what Charles is not
[6:15] Speaker 2: is mean. The women in San Antonio are willing to
[6:19] Speaker 2: yuck it up with Charles about him calling.
[6:21] Speaker 3: Him big and everything else.
[6:23] Speaker 2: Because somehow Charles can do that and not be mean.
[6:27] Speaker 3: This just landed as mean.
[6:30] Speaker 5: So that somehow that you just threw out there is
[6:34] Speaker 5: the part that is interesting to me. Because, like, I
[6:39] Speaker 5: watched it and I thought, had Charles laughed or had
[6:43] Speaker 5: someone around there had the reaction that I think Draymond intended,
[6:46] Speaker 5: I don't think it would have gone over that way.
[6:48] Speaker 5: And that's the part that's interesting to me is I
[6:50] Speaker 5: don't understand. And maybe it's about the person in the delivery,
[6:55] Speaker 5: but I don't understand that. why that was so like,
[6:59] Speaker 5: that felt like it was out of bounds because it
[7:02] Speaker 5: wasn't really like they talk trash about each other all
[7:05] Speaker 5: the time. Like that's part of the nature of that show.
[7:09] Speaker 5: Why in that moment.
[7:10] Speaker 4: Was Charles like, nah, like I'm not going to, they
[7:14] Speaker 4: just were serious.
[7:15] Speaker 2: I will, I will give you a reason why Charles
[7:17] Speaker 2: did not respond in that way because what he said
[7:21] Speaker 2: was wrong. Yeah.
[7:23] Speaker 4: Holy crap.
[7:24] Speaker 3: Totally, factually inaccurate.
[7:27] Speaker 2: If there were pictures to be had of an old
[7:31] Speaker 2: and fat Charles Barkley in a Rockets uniform, we would
[7:35] Speaker 2: all have the same picture in mind because you would
[7:38] Speaker 2: see it all the time. And you know how I
[7:39] Speaker 2: know you would see it all the time? Because inside
[7:41] Speaker 2: the NBA.
[7:42] Speaker 4: Yeah, we show it all the time.
[7:43] Speaker 3: We put it out all the time.
[7:44] Speaker 2: That picture doesn't exist because Charles wasn't decrepit with Houston.
[7:48] Speaker 2: It wasn't any of the things that Draymond described. And Charles,
[7:53] Speaker 2: in that time in Houston, did one of the most
[7:54] Speaker 2: admirable things ever. Remember, he tore his quadriceps tendon in
[7:57] Speaker 2: a game in Philadelphia. And he went through crazy rehab
[8:04] Speaker 2: just to come back for the last game of that
[8:06] Speaker 2: year because he refused to be carried off.
[8:08] Speaker 3: In his last game.
[8:09] Speaker 4: Right?
[8:10] Speaker 2: Like this one, it just, well, two things. I think
[8:13] Speaker 2: that's part of it is that it was wrong. But
[8:14] Speaker 2: then the other part was, hey, man, they don't fuck
[8:17] Speaker 2: with you like that.
[8:18] Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the big one. That's the big one, because
[8:20] Speaker 4: I think that he.
[8:21] Speaker 5: It could have been interpreted as play like you played, which, like, yeah,
[8:25] Speaker 5: Charles wasn't bad at that point, but he wasn't the
[8:28] Speaker 5: same version of himself that we, like, remember. He was
[8:32] Speaker 5: lower on the pecking order. There were a lot of
[8:34] Speaker 5: other people ahead of him. He tore his quad, as
[8:36] Speaker 5: you mentioned, in Philly, like that. All that stuff... Or
[8:41] Speaker 5: was it Phoenix?
[8:41] Speaker 3: It was.
[8:42] Speaker 4: Anyway.
[8:42] Speaker 3: It was in Philly while he played for the Rockets.
[8:44] Speaker 4: Okay. So, anyway, the....
[8:48] Speaker 5: The bad part about this whole thing is I actually
[8:50] Speaker 5: thought that Draymond's response to the question was interesting and
[8:54] Speaker 5: eye-opening and more honest than you expect from a player
[8:57] Speaker 5: at that point. But it's all obscured by the fact
[8:59] Speaker 5: that we were locked in on the fact that this.
[9:03] Speaker 4: Part went, like, over poorly. But I think you're right.
[9:05] Speaker 4: The bottom line is we don't play like that with you.
[9:09] Speaker 5: If Kenny would have said that, I feel like, because
[9:11] Speaker 5: they go back and forth with each other about the
[9:14] Speaker 5: worst things, which I all, like, Friend groups, male friend
[9:18] Speaker 5: groups in particular.
[9:19] Speaker 4: Like, yeah.
[9:21] Speaker 3: Well, let me ask this.
[9:23] Speaker 2: How would that have gone over had he said something
[9:27] Speaker 2: about nobody wants to look like Shaq in a Celtics uniform?
[9:30] Speaker 4: Hilarious.
[9:31] Speaker 1: Whoa, whoa.
[9:33] Speaker 2: If we can say whatever we want about Charles Barkley,
[9:36] Speaker 2: the one thing that we cannot say is that man
[9:39] Speaker 2: is unwilling to laugh at himself.
[9:40] Speaker 4: Yeah, for sure.
[9:42] Speaker 2: We will say a lot of things about Shaquille O'Neal.
[9:46] Speaker 2: What we will not say is how willing he is
[9:49] Speaker 2: to laugh at himself. Shaq would have come back at
[9:52] Speaker 2: him with some of the meanest shit you've ever heard
[9:55] Speaker 2: in your life.
[9:56] Speaker 4: He would have.
[9:56] Speaker 5: So Shaq is funny because he'll make fun of himself.
[10:00] Speaker 5: which is different than laughing when you make fun of him.
[10:03] Speaker 4: Yes.
[10:03] Speaker 3: Relatable content. Relatable content.
[10:06] Speaker 5: Shaq will be more than happy to make fun of
[10:09] Speaker 5: himself and Like, he put up his feet on the
[10:12] Speaker 5: show last night. He took a picture of it. He's
[10:15] Speaker 5: doing all those things. He'll fall down on purpose. He'll
[10:17] Speaker 5: do all these ridiculous things so that you can laugh
[10:19] Speaker 5: at him on his terms. But you're definitely not going
[10:22] Speaker 5: to laugh at him outside of his terms. But they
[10:23] Speaker 5: all make fun of each other.
[10:25] Speaker 4: I don't know. I don't want to defend Draymond.
[10:27] Speaker 2: I think Shaq would say the same thing that I say.
[10:31] Speaker 2: And I think in part what Charles is probably thinking
[10:33] Speaker 2: on this one. Oh, I laugh when things are funny.
[10:36] Speaker 4: Yeah. And Charles did.
[10:38] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[10:38] Speaker 4: Charles did the best. That wasn't funny.
[10:40] Speaker 5: Yeah, Charles did the best possible thing, though, because I
[10:43] Speaker 5: think my reaction would have been like, I'm going to
[10:45] Speaker 5: fire back.
[10:45] Speaker 4: We're going to go. I'm going to fire back with
[10:47] Speaker 4: a joke or something like that. And he did.
[10:50] Speaker 5: He just let it sit there, and it made it
[10:52] Speaker 5: look worse and uncomfortable, and Draymond just had to power through.
[10:56] Speaker 2: And Charles is a great teammate. Like, the decision to
[10:59] Speaker 2: be like, nope, sit in this one. And then when
[11:02] Speaker 2: Kenny was like, what does that look like?
[11:06] Speaker 4: Kenny was dirty.
[11:07] Speaker 2: And his response was, I saw it or something to
[11:11] Speaker 2: that effect. And it was just like, nah, man, this
[11:14] Speaker 2: ain't playing. Like it's a wild week for Draymond in
[11:17] Speaker 2: this regard. I actually think Draymond got a bad rap
[11:20] Speaker 2: about the stuff he was saying about Steve Kerr or
[11:22] Speaker 2: for people who didn't see it. Draymond made the point that, well,
[11:26] Speaker 2: it was a multi-tiered point and social producing rage bait
[11:31] Speaker 2: jumped up, right?
[11:32] Speaker 3: And what Draymond said was.
[11:37] Speaker 5: For what my show did to you a couple days ago.
[11:40] Speaker 5: I'm very sorry. I need to keep a closer eye.
[11:43] Speaker 5: Because all the shit that I've said on this show,
[11:46] Speaker 5: you never hung me out in the dry for clicks.
[11:48] Speaker 4: We hung your ass out in the dry for clicks.
[11:50] Speaker 4: And I'm very sorry.
[11:52] Speaker 3: I appreciate that.
[11:53] Speaker 4: Because it did happen. It did happen.
[11:55] Speaker 3: But it's like, okay, we moved. But I thought this
[11:57] Speaker 3: was interesting, though, with ESPN.
[11:57] Speaker 2: I'm going to say something that you don't have to
[11:59] Speaker 2: speak on when it gets to this.
[12:00] Speaker 3: But.
[12:01] Speaker 2: And Draymond said about Kerr, he was like, basically, this
[12:06] Speaker 2: has been great, right? Like we've won all these championships.
[12:09] Speaker 2: Kerr helped make my career in a lot of ways.
[12:10] Speaker 2: But he was like, but in some ways, I also
[12:12] Speaker 2: feel like he hindered my career because he felt like,
[12:16] Speaker 2: just like, by the way, every player in the NBA
[12:18] Speaker 2: feels that they could have been a better offensive player.
[12:22] Speaker 2: on another team or in a different situation. And Draymond,
[12:25] Speaker 2: unlike most people, has evidence. When Kerr wasn't here, I
[12:29] Speaker 2: was shooting 40% from three and was killing it. And
[12:32] Speaker 2: our team won 73 games at the end of that season.
[12:35] Speaker 2: I think they were like 39 and four. or something
[12:38] Speaker 2: like that in the time that Kerr was not there.
[12:40] Speaker 2: And so I didn't think he was saying that Steve
[12:42] Speaker 2: Kerr messed his career up. He was saying, but I
[12:45] Speaker 2: do think that I had a better offensive game than
[12:48] Speaker 2: Kerr gave me credit for having. And in that way, yeah,
[12:51] Speaker 2: I do wonder what it would have been like. I
[12:53] Speaker 2: thought that that was perfectly reasonable and that he got
[12:56] Speaker 2: hung out to dry on that one by people who
[12:58] Speaker 2: aggregated it.
[12:59] Speaker 3: But this one right here, nah, dog, everybody was just like, ew.
[13:05] Speaker 4: Yeah. I mean, I think you're doing.
[13:07] Speaker 5: I feel like you're being generous in the way that
[13:09] Speaker 5: you are like contextualizing the original statement because it was,
[13:16] Speaker 5: and I don't remember the exact wording. Maybe I should
[13:18] Speaker 5: look that up to be completely accurate. But I think
[13:20] Speaker 5: what people had a hard time accepting from him is
[13:25] Speaker 5: for someone of his talent level, his career turned out
[13:33] Speaker 5: on the fringe, the high fringe of, of the bell curve.
[13:38] Speaker 5: And so for him to look back at his career
[13:42] Speaker 5: and imply, or not even imply, I guess the implication
[13:47] Speaker 5: is that his career could have been better. And what
[13:51] Speaker 5: he's saying is like, I could have been more effective offensively,
[13:54] Speaker 5: but it's hard for me to imagine a situation where
[13:59] Speaker 5: his career, given his talent, turns.
[14:01] Speaker 4: Out any better. Yeah.
[14:02] Speaker 2: So I think it's interesting because Draymond bought Tom Izzo
[14:07] Speaker 2: a Rolex.
[14:08] Speaker 4: Yeah. Right?
[14:09] Speaker 2: And look, Draymond Green was an excellent, excellent college basketball player,
[14:13] Speaker 2: but nobody saw it coming.
[14:15] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[14:15] Speaker 3: Nobody saw it coming.
[14:16] Speaker 2: The NBA, nobody saw it coming the way that it
[14:19] Speaker 2: ultimately turned out. But the thing to remember, and we
[14:22] Speaker 2: can't forget, is Kerr only started Draymond after David Lee
[14:26] Speaker 2: got hurt.
[14:27] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[14:27] Speaker 3: That was never the plan.
[14:29] Speaker 2: And so I think for Draymond, and I know this
[14:32] Speaker 2: feeling when you feel like you're with somebody that you realize,
[14:35] Speaker 2: or you feel like.
[14:36] Speaker 3: You know, this cat never actually, like, really believed it.
[14:40] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[14:41] Speaker 3: All right?
[14:41] Speaker 2: Or at least not in the way, or Draymond's probably
[14:43] Speaker 2: looking at it like, he don't believe it like there's
[14:46] Speaker 2: other cats that's out here that believed it. That there's
[14:48] Speaker 2: other people I could have dealt with that would have
[14:50] Speaker 2: believed it in a much different way.
[14:52] Speaker 3: And I guess, I don't know.
[14:54] Speaker 2: I don't think it's unreasonable, especially knowing that lead, for
[14:58] Speaker 2: that guy to be like, but I think somewhere else
[15:00] Speaker 2: I could have scored 17 a game.
[15:01] Speaker 3: They all think that.
[15:02] Speaker 5: Yeah, I think they, of course they do. And that's
[15:05] Speaker 5: like part of the reason why they're there. But I
[15:07] Speaker 5: think that that's the thing with Draymond. And I think
[15:09] Speaker 5: that's part of what makes him interesting is like he,
[15:13] Speaker 5: I don't even know if it's that he doesn't have
[15:15] Speaker 5: a filter, but he doesn't have like another voice in
[15:19] Speaker 5: there to like bounce these things off of and polish
[15:23] Speaker 5: it up. Because I think you're saying something different than
[15:26] Speaker 5: what it got experienced as. You're saying like, I could
[15:29] Speaker 5: have put up better numbers. what I think people are
[15:33] Speaker 5: hearing and then to name Steve Kerr specifically, not just say, yeah,
[15:37] Speaker 5: I imagine in a different situation, I could have put
[15:41] Speaker 5: up better numbers. He's saying I could have had a
[15:45] Speaker 5: better career if Steve Kerr.
[15:48] Speaker 4: Wouldn't have hindered me.
[15:50] Speaker 5: And that's the part that I think is hard is like, no, sir,
[15:54] Speaker 5: I believe that there is not a bet.
[15:56] Speaker 4: Like there is not a better career.
[15:58] Speaker 5: And of course, I understand him feeling like they don't
[16:01] Speaker 5: believe in my offense that much. But they believe in
[16:05] Speaker 5: you as core to this because of your defense and
[16:08] Speaker 5: your ability to be an offensive fulcrum.
[16:11] Speaker 4: They moved on from a lot of people.
[16:13] Speaker 3: Yes, they did.
[16:13] Speaker 4: And not you.
[16:14] Speaker 3: That was Austin Rivers' point.
[16:16] Speaker 4: Yeah. They moved on from a lot of people and
[16:18] Speaker 4: not you. You punch people in.
[16:20] Speaker 5: The locker room and you don't shoot as well as Klay.
[16:23] Speaker 5: I know Klay got hurt, but, like, they moved on
[16:25] Speaker 5: from a lot of these pieces. You are remaining. So, like,
[16:27] Speaker 5: that's a level of confidence. And I know that it's
[16:29] Speaker 5: not confidence in this offensive game necessarily, but we all know, like.
[16:34] Speaker 4: Kevin Durant. You was pissing off Kevin Durant.
[16:39] Speaker 5: And I imagine that everyone knew that it was going
[16:41] Speaker 5: to be one of y'all got to go. And they
[16:43] Speaker 5: was like, we're going to stick by you.
[16:45] Speaker 4: So that, I think I.
[16:47] Speaker 3: Hold on. Let me, let me read the quote to people.
[16:48] Speaker 3: This is the money quote.
[16:50] Speaker 2: As much as he's done for me in basketball, a
[16:52] Speaker 2: part of me thinks he's hindered me in my career
[16:54] Speaker 2: and what I could have become. You know, when I
[16:56] Speaker 2: think of who I was offensively as a player and
[16:58] Speaker 2: who I became, I think.
[16:59] Speaker 3: A part of that is due to him. I don't
[17:01] Speaker 3: hold that against him.
[17:03] Speaker 5: Right.
[17:04] Speaker 3: I think that's a.
[17:04] Speaker 2: Fair factual statement that maybe, but I think the, I
[17:07] Speaker 2: think what you're saying and I think it's fair is
[17:10] Speaker 2: maybe somewhere else they would have let him shoot more
[17:12] Speaker 2: or somewhere else.
[17:13] Speaker 3: He never would have got off to Oak.
[17:15] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[17:15] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[17:16] Speaker 5: He's, he's, he's like a point center. That's too small.
[17:22] Speaker 5: Like a short point center. Like it's a unique situation.
[17:26] Speaker 5: Like it's not to denigrate him. Like he is, incredible
[17:28] Speaker 5: you can't really compare him to anybody he's like a
[17:31] Speaker 5: incredibly unique basketball talent in a unique situation in time
[17:37] Speaker 5: in the NBA it worked out it just like that
[17:39] Speaker 5: that's the part that is hard to accept it's like
[17:43] Speaker 5: he hindered you you're a hall of famer bro you
[17:46] Speaker 5: weren't hindered.
[17:46] Speaker 2: But you know what it is the other part too
[17:48] Speaker 2: about everybody having a podcast man words mean things yeah
[17:53] Speaker 2: and he picked a bad one yeah Right.
[17:55] Speaker 3: Like that's that's part of the gift of being able
[17:57] Speaker 3: to do this.
[17:57] Speaker 2: And I think that people, especially when they talk about
[17:59] Speaker 2: guys going into media, we have this. The idea is
[18:02] Speaker 2: that you get the outspoken guys.
[18:04] Speaker 4: Right.
[18:05] Speaker 2: And they'll all be good on TV or a guy
[18:07] Speaker 2: that gives a good press conference. They'll all be good
[18:10] Speaker 2: on TV, TV or whatever it is. It's a different world.
[18:13] Speaker 2: And especially with the.
[18:14] Speaker 3: Podcast stuff now that is so easy for people to hear,
[18:16] Speaker 3: record it.
[18:17] Speaker 2: And disseminate it. hindered is not the right word to
[18:22] Speaker 2: use under those circumstances.
[18:24] Speaker 3: And maybe you're right.
[18:24] Speaker 2: I'm a little generous in the sense that I look
[18:26] Speaker 2: at it like, hey, he probably meant a different word.
[18:29] Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
[18:30] Speaker 5: But I, yeah, I ultimately, I come back to, it's like, yeah,
[18:35] Speaker 5: he's right. Another situation, he could have scored more points.
[18:39] Speaker 5: And it's also another situation. David Lee's day is healthy.
[18:43] Speaker 5: He never gets off the bench. Yes. But like there,
[18:46] Speaker 5: to me, at least there's no, I have a really
[18:50] Speaker 5: hard time. If Draymond's career is simulated 100 times, this
[18:56] Speaker 5: is 92.
[18:57] Speaker 2: I don't think anybody has done more with what they
[19:01] Speaker 2: had than Draymond Green.
[19:03] Speaker 4: How could his career be any better?
[19:05] Speaker 5: I'm being generous in saying that there might be eight
[19:08] Speaker 5: simulations where this turns out better. That's just like if
[19:11] Speaker 5: he hits a game winner in the finals or something.
[19:15] Speaker 4: It's one play swinging this. I don't imagine that.
[19:20] Speaker 5: I don't know.
[19:21] Speaker 4: That's true of everybody.
[19:22] Speaker 5: There's so much luck in the success that anybody has,
[19:25] Speaker 5: and you can look at it, but it's easier to
[19:27] Speaker 5: discount that luck when you have more traditionally obvious talents
[19:32] Speaker 5: for the field that you're in that his just aren't obvious.
[19:36] Speaker 3: How much money do you think this man has made
[19:37] Speaker 3: in the NBA?
[19:41] Speaker 4: A quarter? Over a quarter billion, right?
[19:44] Speaker 3: Close to a quarter. It's at 239.
[19:46] Speaker 4: Ooh-wee. I mean, go over that. Oh, this is country.
[19:50] Speaker 4: value or how much he's actually made?
[19:51] Speaker 2: Contract value through the 2026 season.
[19:55] Speaker 4: Okay. So that means, yeah, he going to go over it?
[19:58] Speaker 2: Yep.
[19:59] Speaker 5: He got 27.6 left.
[20:03] Speaker 4: He gonna go over it, then he gonna do it.
[20:05] Speaker 2: Him and Tobias Harris. Tobias Harris amazing. Tobias Harris done
[20:09] Speaker 2: made something like $ 300 million that ain't never made first,
[20:11] Speaker 2: second or third team. I think he got a vote
[20:14] Speaker 2: one year.
[20:15] Speaker 3: A vote. One year.
[20:18] Speaker 5: I used to like when I was at the football union,
[20:22] Speaker 5: before I went over to the basketball union, I remember
[20:25] Speaker 5: like every time basketball off season would happen, we would
[20:29] Speaker 5: have the blues at the union because all the football
[20:32] Speaker 5: players would be pointing to those numbers and be like,
[20:35] Speaker 5: our sport is bigger, this, that, and the other.
[20:37] Speaker 4: And it's like, boys, the amount of money.
[20:42] Speaker 5: The gap is so big now that I don't even
[20:44] Speaker 5: think football players get irritated by it.
[20:47] Speaker 4: You just can't. It's only a few of them. It's
[20:50] Speaker 4: a lot of money.
[20:51] Speaker 5: And when we had that social media argument about who's
[20:56] Speaker 5: better athletes, football players or basketball players, it's like, I'm
[20:59] Speaker 5: a football player. And if you've ever been courtside at
[21:03] Speaker 5: an NBA game, it's them.
[21:05] Speaker 2: I remember when we talked about this on here and
[21:07] Speaker 2: your brother were not happy with you for not holding
[21:09] Speaker 2: the line.
[21:11] Speaker 4: I ain't going to lie. I ain't going to lie.
[21:14] Speaker 5: Like, they 6'7 and doing it, and they got the
[21:17] Speaker 5: hand-eye coordination to hit half-court shots at like a 50%
[21:22] Speaker 5: rate if you're not guarding them.
[21:23] Speaker 4: And that's the boys who can't shoot. Yes. It's like,
[21:28] Speaker 4: if you've ever been courtside at an NBA game, Yeah,
[21:31] Speaker 4: you would know better.
[21:34] Speaker 2: Yeah, but let me tell you something that's interesting, because
[21:36] Speaker 2: I talked about the social media rage, but you can
[21:38] Speaker 2: find out, I did a video, well, I did an
[21:40] Speaker 2: interview with my buddy, Ethan Strauss, on his podcast, and
[21:43] Speaker 2: I talked about the conflicting incentives of social media producers
[21:47] Speaker 2: and the talent that they deal with, because their game
[21:49] Speaker 2: is to get engagement, and engagement is generated by getting
[21:51] Speaker 2: people riled up, which is often counter to the aims
[21:55] Speaker 2: of the host. And then, of course, they clip that
[21:58] Speaker 2: and put it on the internet to be provocative for
[22:00] Speaker 2: the people.
[22:01] Speaker 3: In a very similar way.
[22:02] Speaker 2: It was ironic, it was humorous, but I admit at
[22:05] Speaker 2: first I was like, here these motherfuckers go. But anyway,
[22:09] Speaker 2: SportsCenter's account, after they saw this discussion had become a thing,
[22:13] Speaker 2: the SportsCenter account clipped it and was like, it got
[22:15] Speaker 2: awkward with Draymond. and Charles Barkley. And it may have
[22:19] Speaker 2: had googly eyes or whatever it was. And I was like, see, see, see,
[22:22] Speaker 2: that's the shit I'm talking about right there.
[22:25] Speaker 3: This is your talent. You are either making your.
[22:27] Speaker 2: Talent look like an asshole or you are co-signing this
[22:30] Speaker 2: erroneous thing.
[22:31] Speaker 3: About Charles, but we gonna get the people charged up.
[22:34] Speaker 2: And I do want to do this right fast because
[22:36] Speaker 2: it does bother me sometimes when people denigrate what Charles
[22:40] Speaker 2: is because this quickly became a Draymond versus Charles. It
[22:43] Speaker 2: didn't have to be that in terms of what kinds
[22:44] Speaker 2: of players there were They were in everything else, right?
[22:47] Speaker 2: But Charles, in that last three years that he played
[22:51] Speaker 2: with Houston, or I think it's four years, but he
[22:54] Speaker 2: put up advanced statistics that were in line with what
[22:58] Speaker 2: he did in Phoenix, right? Like he was an excellent
[23:02] Speaker 2: player all the way until the end. And he's always
[23:06] Speaker 2: been perhaps the most unselfish dominant scorer in the history
[23:09] Speaker 2: of the game. And he dialed it back in that year.
[23:11] Speaker 2: The problem was they was all old. They was all old.
[23:15] Speaker 2: If John Stockton doesn't hit that shot in game six,
[23:18] Speaker 2: maybe the Rockets got a chance. Actually, my favorite Charles
[23:20] Speaker 2: Barkley with the Rockets moment ever is John Stockton, old
[23:24] Speaker 2: dirty ass, tried to set a screen on Charles once
[23:26] Speaker 2: that he had enough of and Charles elbowed him in
[23:28] Speaker 2: the chest.
[23:29] Speaker 3: And they asked him what he was doing.
[23:31] Speaker 2: And he said, I was trying to dislocate his shoulder
[23:34] Speaker 2: or break his rib.
[23:35] Speaker 3: And everybody laughed. And he said, I'm not joking.
[23:42] Speaker 4: Excellent, man.
[23:44] Speaker 5: I think that's so the Charles Barkley has like created.
[23:49] Speaker 5: And I think that a lot of this is from
[23:50] Speaker 5: Charles Barkley. The idea that the outspoken rash guy, I
[23:54] Speaker 5: think you can draw a straight line from Charles Barkley and,
[23:58] Speaker 5: to the belief that Draymond is going to be great
[24:01] Speaker 5: in media.
[24:01] Speaker 4: Yes.
[24:02] Speaker 5: Because it's like brash, outspoken, willing to say just about anything,
[24:06] Speaker 5: but there's a, a humility and creativity that Charles Barkley
[24:12] Speaker 5: had that I think it was hard to, to, to know.
[24:15] Speaker 5: And maybe I was too young to, to witness it
[24:18] Speaker 5: or understand it. And media was less like ubiquitous then.
[24:21] Speaker 5: So you didn't see as much of the players, but like,
[24:24] Speaker 5: I think people draw the wrong conclusion. It's like loud,
[24:27] Speaker 5: brash guy that offended the sensibilities of the mainstream.
[24:31] Speaker 4: Oh, he's going to be great on TV.
[24:34] Speaker 5: And it's like, nah, part of the problem with the
[24:36] Speaker 5: Draymond experience, not that it's bad, he's good, but it's that,
[24:41] Speaker 5: to your point about the social media stuff, they clip
[24:46] Speaker 5: them up in order to get engagement or to upset people.
[24:50] Speaker 5: And it's oftentimes torn out of context. Nah, not with Draymond.
[24:56] Speaker 4: He just talk like that.
[25:00] Speaker 5: Draymond is just a perpetual rage baiter, but he's not baiting.
[25:05] Speaker 5: He just be raging people of.
[25:07] Speaker 4: How he feels.
[25:08] Speaker 5: And it's like, I don't know that people actually want that.
[25:13] Speaker 2: No, people don't want mean. Shaq's problem is that he
[25:17] Speaker 2: can be very mean. When it comes up, somebody steps
[25:21] Speaker 2: on him the other way, he can.
[25:22] Speaker 3: Be very mean. And Draymond, so, Dominic, you and I.
[25:26] Speaker 2: Talk about this, and I don't want to do this
[25:27] Speaker 2: to talk about myself, but something that people don't grasp
[25:30] Speaker 2: about me, the reason my thing works is I'm not mean.
[25:33] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[25:33] Speaker 2: Like, I think that people, for whatever reason, believe that
[25:35] Speaker 2: I'm mean, but you have no evidence, if you've ever
[25:37] Speaker 2: been around me, that I'm mean to people. Because it
[25:40] Speaker 2: just don't work. If you're not mean, you can get away.
[25:43] Speaker 3: With so many things.
[25:44] Speaker 2: You are one of the most decidedly un-mean people that
[25:46] Speaker 2: I've ever met. You could stand to be a little
[25:48] Speaker 2: bit meaner, to.
[25:49] Speaker 3: Be perfectly honest.
[25:50] Speaker 4: Fair point, fair point.
[25:52] Speaker 3: But Draymond is mean.
[25:52] Speaker 4: Yeah, but you are.
[25:54] Speaker 5: It's not only that you're not mean, you're kind, but
[25:57] Speaker 5: I think it doesn't come through.
[25:58] Speaker 4: And I think we could point to... You are less.
[26:02] Speaker 5: concerned with to me at least it seems like you're
[26:06] Speaker 5: less concerned with the way that people um interpret you
[26:13] Speaker 5: i'm putting it wrong but i think in part of
[26:16] Speaker 5: in part of the way i'm is comparing it to
[26:18] Speaker 5: myself in part of the way that i behave publicly
[26:21] Speaker 5: i am partially some portion of my brain is trying
[26:25] Speaker 5: to analyze how it's going to be received yes and
[26:28] Speaker 5: concerned about it being received the wrong way. I think
[26:32] Speaker 5: whatever part that is for you is just less engaged
[26:35] Speaker 5: where it's like, I'm going to do this. And I
[26:36] Speaker 5: think the wire clip that you had is like an
[26:40] Speaker 5: example of it where it's like, they saying dumb shit.
[26:43] Speaker 5: I'm going to tell them they saying dumb shit and
[26:45] Speaker 5: then unpack their ass right here. And I think a
[26:49] Speaker 5: lot of people see that and some people see themselves.
[26:52] Speaker 3: As the unpack-y.
[26:55] Speaker 4: Right.
[26:55] Speaker 5: Some people see ourselves as the unpack-er, and some people
[26:58] Speaker 5: see themselves as the unpack-y. And then they see that,
[27:01] Speaker 5: which it's not the first time you've done something like that.
[27:03] Speaker 5: You do it on the beginning of your career with
[27:06] Speaker 5: a lot of Twitter, unpacking motherfuckers.
[27:08] Speaker 3: Yes.
[27:09] Speaker 5: And I think a lot of people are like, he's mean.
[27:12] Speaker 5: Because they're like, man, I'm going to say something dumb
[27:14] Speaker 5: and he's going to rip me up. Whereas I see
[27:16] Speaker 5: it like, yeah.
[27:17] Speaker 4: Get them dummies. Yeah, get them.
[27:21] Speaker 3: I can be mean to people.
[27:22] Speaker 4: I like him. He getting them dummies. That's how I feel.
[27:25] Speaker 2: Yeah, like I think I can be mean to people
[27:27] Speaker 2: who I think are mean to me, right? And I
[27:29] Speaker 2: guess maybe that's the thing with Draymond is his threshold
[27:32] Speaker 2: for what he thinks that somebody has been mean to
[27:34] Speaker 2: him is very, very low. Like I would love to
[27:37] Speaker 2: know formatively speaking, like his house or whatever it is,
[27:41] Speaker 2: because he might got one of them houses where that's
[27:43] Speaker 2: how they all talk to each other. Like, you know,
[27:45] Speaker 2: when you meet those people and then you go to
[27:46] Speaker 2: their house, you'd be like, damn, I can't even tell
[27:48] Speaker 2: y'all like each other. And then they get out in
[27:52] Speaker 2: the wild and they like everybody else is just sensitive.
[27:55] Speaker 3: Now, I always tell people, this is a very important point.
[27:58] Speaker 2: If on one side is everybody and on the other
[28:01] Speaker 2: side is you, chances are you are the person that
[28:04] Speaker 2: needs to move toward the norm. It's not always the case,
[28:07] Speaker 2: but it's entirely possible that that's the space. And so, yeah,
[28:12] Speaker 2: when you get a lot of these guys, you can
[28:14] Speaker 2: be solemn, you can be stern, you can be all
[28:16] Speaker 2: these things. The one thing you can't be on television
[28:20] Speaker 2: is mean, especially not to, like, People love Charles.
[28:26] Speaker 3: We let Charles get away with a lot of craziness.
[28:28] Speaker 4: Yes.
[28:29] Speaker 3: Because we love Charles.
[28:32] Speaker 4: Charles, yeah. Remember when Charles had that show with Gale? Oh,
[28:35] Speaker 4: I do. Charles was going a political run.
[28:38] Speaker 2: Brother, I have a Charles story that's so insane that
[28:41] Speaker 2: I'd never tell it on the air because I love
[28:43] Speaker 2: Charles too much to do this to him. But the
[28:45] Speaker 2: fact that nobody did him in for it is like, oh,
[28:48] Speaker 2: we just made a decision that Charles gets to play
[28:51] Speaker 2: by complete. Look, that first year of Inside the NBA,
[28:56] Speaker 2: Nothing has ever been like it. I could not believe
[28:58] Speaker 2: the things that man was saying. Like he actually reeled
[29:00] Speaker 2: it in after year one. I could not believe it.
[29:03] Speaker 2: But then on top of it, the thing with Charles
[29:04] Speaker 2: was they would run practical jokes on Charles on television
[29:10] Speaker 2: that he.
[29:10] Speaker 3: Had no idea were coming. I wish, I wish you
[29:14] Speaker 3: would do that to me.
[29:16] Speaker 4: I wish.
[29:18] Speaker 2: Like, and when you go down there and do their shows,
[29:21] Speaker 2: you gotta be ready because the culture has been set
[29:23] Speaker 2: by the fact that we can do these things to Charles. Like,
[29:27] Speaker 2: it requires, I think this is what also comes down
[29:29] Speaker 2: to on those things. It requires a measure of trust. Like,
[29:32] Speaker 2: when I used to do shows with Dan and them,
[29:34] Speaker 2: I didn't trust them like that, right? Them jokes ain't
[29:36] Speaker 2: feel gentle. Them jokes did not, like, it was kind
[29:38] Speaker 2: of like, so what do you want? so what you
[29:40] Speaker 2: trying to say right like that's it when it's trust
[29:43] Speaker 2: it doesn't go to the what you trying to say
[29:45] Speaker 2: part draymond has no trust from anybody on.
[29:49] Speaker 5: This stuff that's interesting the trust thing is i am
[29:52] Speaker 5: consider that but i think you're right it's like they
[29:54] Speaker 5: are not trying to I've had, obviously I've done a
[29:57] Speaker 5: bunch on TV and I've had a lot of really
[29:59] Speaker 5: good interactions and experiences and like, I'll do a good
[30:03] Speaker 5: amount of like making fun of people, but there is
[30:06] Speaker 5: like some relationship and there's some times where it's like,
[30:09] Speaker 5: it doesn't, I've been had in a long time, but
[30:11] Speaker 5: there've been a few times where it didn't go over well,
[30:12] Speaker 5: where I felt like I needed to apologize to somebody
[30:14] Speaker 5: because like, I, I recognize that we entertain and we
[30:17] Speaker 5: having a good time, but like, I think where it
[30:20] Speaker 5: comes from, the reason the need for apology, at least
[30:22] Speaker 5: from my perspective was because, It was mean and it
[30:27] Speaker 5: was clear that we didn't have that relationship, right? We
[30:30] Speaker 5: don't actually have this relationship.
[30:31] Speaker 3: To do this.
[30:32] Speaker 5: And also where it happens is when it's not reciprocated,
[30:36] Speaker 5: when they don't have that, I don't want to say ability,
[30:39] Speaker 5: but like that nature, they didn't grow up in that environment,
[30:42] Speaker 5: they aren't comfortable with it.
[30:43] Speaker 4: It ain't fun when.
[30:45] Speaker 5: When one side got all the good jokes and the
[30:47] Speaker 5: other side is just back there looking beat upon.
[30:51] Speaker 3: Well, you also got to recognize the weight of who
[30:52] Speaker 3: you are, right? Like there's certain.
[30:54] Speaker 2: Ways that I can't talk to people because of how
[30:56] Speaker 2: things land because of who I am within the ecosystem, right?
[30:59] Speaker 2: Like you and I have literally, and we've been doing
[31:01] Speaker 2: this now for a decade in various forms and fashions.
[31:05] Speaker 3: We have never raised our voices.
[31:07] Speaker 4: At each other.
[31:07] Speaker 3: Like not even a little bit, right? Like there's a disagreement.
[31:10] Speaker 3: Hold up, let me see. Like we have a level
[31:12] Speaker 3: of trust that is built through iteration.
[31:16] Speaker 2: I've done TV shows with people. and done radio shows
[31:19] Speaker 2: with people where the trust just wasn't there. And people
[31:22] Speaker 2: do not trust Draymond. That's what it comes from, punching
[31:24] Speaker 2: people in the face and all this other stuff. Or
[31:26] Speaker 2: the thing with Kerr is people don't trust him. Like,
[31:29] Speaker 2: I will see sometimes when something goes over in a
[31:31] Speaker 2: way that I don't intend online, and people's response will be, hey, man,
[31:34] Speaker 2: I've been listening to him for a long time. I
[31:36] Speaker 2: know what it is that he's saying right there. And
[31:38] Speaker 2: Draymond has zero trust, zero trust. Speaking of trust, there's
[31:42] Speaker 2: somebody outside who has been trusting me with this trophy.
[31:45] Speaker 2: And so I am going to bring this trophy back
[31:48] Speaker 2: to him. But first, I'm gonna give you one of these.
[31:51] Speaker 3: I hugged a tree this weekend, Dominique. It was so amazing.
[31:53] Speaker 3: I was out with my club and we was, and
[31:56] Speaker 3: they were like, yo, you gotta hug the tree.
[31:57] Speaker 2: And I was like, I ain't gotta do shit. And
[31:59] Speaker 2: they was like, nah, you gotta hug the tree. And
[32:01] Speaker 2: I was like, okay.
[32:02] Speaker 3: And you know, when you loosen up and get into
[32:04] Speaker 3: hugging the tree, I kind of see the point.
[32:06] Speaker 2: But I saw my homie, Brad, He was there with
[32:09] Speaker 2: his wife and she got him in the tree hugging.
[32:12] Speaker 3: And man, he was hugging a big old tree.
[32:13] Speaker 2: That motherfucker was out here all the way like this
[32:15] Speaker 2: from sea to shot to sea hugging that tree.
[32:18] Speaker 3: It was the funniest thing I'd ever seen. And I
[32:20] Speaker 3: was like, damn. But he looked very happy hugging that tree.
[32:23] Speaker 4: That's a literal thing? I thought tree hugging was just like.
[32:26] Speaker 2: No, I thought it was too, but I was out
[32:28] Speaker 2: there with some old woo-woo motherfuckers, man.
[32:29] Speaker 3: They was all hugging. They were like, yo, you gonna
[32:31] Speaker 3: hug the tree?
[32:32] Speaker 2: Like, they were saying, are you gonna hug the tree
[32:34] Speaker 2: like you're not gonna get some water?
[32:37] Speaker 3: Like, it was the thing, but in absence of the tree,
[32:40] Speaker 3: I'm gonna hug Larry a little bit. You know what
[32:42] Speaker 3: I'm saying?
[32:43] Speaker 4: See you, Larry.
[32:44] Speaker 3: You can get that picture in there. We got the teams.
[32:47] Speaker 4: All around.
[32:48] Speaker 3: It came in a Tiffany bag. I think I already
[32:50] Speaker 3: said all those things.
[32:51] Speaker 4: Did it come in a big box too, right?
[32:53] Speaker 3: A giant box. A giant box with wheels. Did you
[32:59] Speaker 3: see that story?
[33:00] Speaker 2: I'm going to say this right fast before we break.
[33:01] Speaker 2: About the guy who had to check his Oscar. This
[33:05] Speaker 2: guy won an Oscar for best documentary and TSA made
[33:07] Speaker 2: him check it because they said the Oscar could be
[33:09] Speaker 2: a weapon and then they lost it.
[33:12] Speaker 3: It was eventually found.
[33:13] Speaker 4: That's nuts.
[33:15] Speaker 3: And look, they're not wrong.
[33:17] Speaker 2: Now, I would say if we found out that somebody
[33:20] Speaker 2: hijacked a plane because they beat the pilot over the
[33:22] Speaker 2: head with an Oscar, that would be some wild shit, right?
[33:25] Speaker 3: But, you know.
[33:27] Speaker 4: I assume, like, that's weird. I mean, because it's blunt.
[33:30] Speaker 5: It's not like Emmy, the wings, I feel like, are sharp. Like,
[33:34] Speaker 5: a blunt weapon is weird. I could bring a dumbbell.
[33:37] Speaker 5: They wouldn't tell me that was a wig.
[33:39] Speaker 3: Yes, they would. Really?
[33:40] Speaker 4: Really.
[33:40] Speaker 2: Man, I tried to travel once with a workout system
[33:44] Speaker 2: of sorts, and it had a bar.
[33:46] Speaker 4: Oh, and they was like, nah.
[33:47] Speaker 3: No, they was like, you can check it and throw
[33:48] Speaker 3: it away.
[33:50] Speaker 4: I respect it. I mean, I might, yeah. I love TSA.
[33:55] Speaker 4: It never fails. So I get the most love.
[33:59] Speaker 3: That's true. That is our room. Those are people. You
[34:03] Speaker 3: know what I'm saying?

[36:31] Speaker 2: are back with Dominique Foxworth. You told me you ain't really,
[36:34] Speaker 2: you had never really been like super hip to Ted Turner.
[36:37] Speaker 4: I mean, I was always aware of him. Like, yeah,
[36:40] Speaker 4: he was.
[36:40] Speaker 3: Yeah, but not in like a particular way.
[36:42] Speaker 4: Nah, nah, nah, nah.
[36:44] Speaker 3: So Ted, Ted Turner passed away, I guess on Wednesday,
[36:48] Speaker 3: or at least we got news on Wednesday. Ted owned
[36:51] Speaker 3: the Braves.
[36:52] Speaker 2: So that's always been, that was always the thing for
[36:54] Speaker 2: me is that Ted Turner owned the Braves and he
[36:56] Speaker 2: owned the Hawks when I used to do that dumb shit.
[36:59] Speaker 3: And so.
[37:01] Speaker 2: Ted Turner is interesting in that he goes back to
[37:04] Speaker 2: a time where rich people were interesting and kind of fun.
[37:07] Speaker 2: And by the way, he consistently said and did the
[37:10] Speaker 2: wrong thing in so many ways, right? Like Ted, have
[37:13] Speaker 2: you seen the thing where they were talking about the
[37:16] Speaker 2: Pope and Ted Turner told a Polack joke?
[37:19] Speaker 4: Oh gosh.
[37:20] Speaker 2: Yeah, he was like, you know, it was a Polish
[37:22] Speaker 2: mind detector and pointed at his foot.
[37:25] Speaker 3: He was talking about the Pope.
[37:29] Speaker 4: Oh gosh.
[37:30] Speaker 5: Ted is like, it sounds like at least, I don't
[37:32] Speaker 5: know his upbringing, but by how he used to comport
[37:36] Speaker 5: himself It sounded like he was self-made.
[37:39] Speaker 2: Well, let me give you a hint on that. It's
[37:41] Speaker 2: very interesting. So Ted's father owned a billboard company.
[37:44] Speaker 1: Right.
[37:45] Speaker 4: He painted the... Yeah.
[37:47] Speaker 2: And the billboard company became kind of the basis for
[37:49] Speaker 2: everything else. But this is the story that will tell
[37:52] Speaker 2: you everything. And this is from Spencer Hall and Holly
[37:56] Speaker 2: Anderson's newsletter, Channel 6. I cannot recommend that you do
[37:59] Speaker 2: this enough. I don't know who writes what at any
[38:02] Speaker 2: given point in time. So we'll say it's Spencer and Holly.
[38:05] Speaker 2: This is the lead to what he had on Ted
[38:06] Speaker 2: Turner that I swear if if if they did not
[38:10] Speaker 2: have this already on deck, this is another.
[38:12] Speaker 3: Wow. You amazing people. OK, this is the first two paragraphs.
[38:17] Speaker 2: Ted Turner kept the gun his father killed himself with
[38:19] Speaker 2: in his office desk. Sometimes during negotiations heading the wrong way,
[38:24] Speaker 2: he would reportedly take it out and spin the barrels
[38:28] Speaker 2: as he held it against his head and say, now,
[38:30] Speaker 2: I don't really like the way this is going right now.
[38:34] Speaker 3: At this point, usually, the negotiations would pivot in favor.
[38:37] Speaker 2: Of Ted and the gun would find its way back
[38:40] Speaker 2: into the drawer. This is obviously an obituary for an
[38:44] Speaker 2: insane person. In Ted Turner's case, insanity meant something very specific,
[38:49] Speaker 2: believing in his heart and soul that he could be
[38:51] Speaker 2: in two places at once all the time.
[38:55] Speaker 5: That's incredible tidbit, incredible writing, and also a reminder that
[39:02] Speaker 5: there's a thin line between it is there's a thin
[39:05] Speaker 5: line man there is a thin line all like innovation
[39:09] Speaker 5: and amazingness and progress happens at the fringes of society
[39:14] Speaker 5: and with fringe people but all the amazing and surprising
[39:18] Speaker 5: negative stuff that also comes from them same motherfuckers yes.
[39:22] Speaker 2: It does so ted's game and everything was to find
[39:26] Speaker 2: low undervalue assets like that's what channel 17 17 was
[39:30] Speaker 2: that turned into TBS, for example, and then eventually became CNN.
[39:34] Speaker 2: And that is that is the most world changing and
[39:37] Speaker 2: very few people in media have ever changed the world
[39:39] Speaker 2: themselves quite like Ted Turner did.
[39:42] Speaker 3: With cnn and it looked.
[39:44] Speaker 2: Cnn started i want to say in 1980 or 1981.
[39:46] Speaker 3: But it really really really bore fruit.
[39:49] Speaker 2: In 91 when the gulf war came when everybody else
[39:52] Speaker 2: is going off the air and they showing the war
[39:54] Speaker 2: the whole way because he has the 24-hour news station
[39:58] Speaker 2: a station by the way where he had video prepared
[40:00] Speaker 2: in case the world ended to run singing with a
[40:04] Speaker 2: band playing a hymn I will give you another great
[40:07] Speaker 2: Ted Turner story. Later in life, Turner would attempt to
[40:10] Speaker 2: solve quantum issues in his personal life by installing a
[40:13] Speaker 2: rotation of four girlfriends. Each got a week on the
[40:16] Speaker 2: calendar per month, which Turner thought was overly fussy, but
[40:19] Speaker 2: still the fairest arrangement. Now, when Turner was married to
[40:23] Speaker 2: Jane Fonda and keep in mind that when he was,
[40:25] Speaker 2: we'll call it courting Jane Fonda was while he was
[40:28] Speaker 2: doing the Goodwill Games. And he was supposed to go
[40:30] Speaker 2: to the Goodwill Games. But for the first time, he
[40:33] Speaker 2: felt like he had a chance to, shall we say,
[40:35] Speaker 2: put the hay in the barn. And so he called
[40:37] Speaker 2: the Goodwill Games people and told them, no, he would
[40:39] Speaker 2: not be making it there because he would be with
[40:41] Speaker 2: Jane Fonda. But Craig Sager could take his place. And
[40:45] Speaker 2: Craig Sager did. Ted Turner also. personally gave a billion
[40:49] Speaker 2: dollars to the united nations when the united states itself
[40:53] Speaker 2: wasn't giving money to the united nations right like uh
[40:57] Speaker 2: in this also spencer makes a good point a line
[40:58] Speaker 2: that jesse jackson had is that ted was insensitive but
[41:02] Speaker 2: generally fair and that's what it was like he was
[41:05] Speaker 2: that white man i talk about this all the time
[41:07] Speaker 2: growing up in some for real south the white man
[41:09] Speaker 2: that say the crazy stuff is sometimes a white man
[41:12] Speaker 2: you need.
[41:14] Speaker 5: You, this is having not grown up in the South
[41:17] Speaker 5: and spent a little bit of time down there, enough
[41:20] Speaker 5: time to reaffirm stereotypes and caricatures of the people down
[41:27] Speaker 5: there that I had pre-existing. It sounds crazy, but like
[41:31] Speaker 5: you mentioned, we've been working together for more than a
[41:33] Speaker 5: decade now. And it's sad for me to say that
[41:36] Speaker 5: I was in my, I guess, mid-30s around then, or
[41:39] Speaker 5: early 30s. It was you who was like, hey, why
[41:44] Speaker 5: don't you take another look? You didn't say it specifically,
[41:49] Speaker 5: but like take another look at the people that you
[41:52] Speaker 5: think got your back and the people that you think don't.
[41:56] Speaker 5: And I think a lot of this is, obviously it
[41:59] Speaker 5: gets difficult when you are like policing people's words and
[42:04] Speaker 5: that's why I said it seemed like Ted Turner the
[42:06] Speaker 5: way he behaves is like he was self-made because he
[42:08] Speaker 5: don't know how to act and talk in polite society
[42:12] Speaker 5: and he never has cared to but that's the I
[42:14] Speaker 5: mean it's a reminder I think for us all it's
[42:16] Speaker 5: like yeah And just a word here and there is
[42:20] Speaker 5: the substances is different and understand not to say that
[42:23] Speaker 5: anybody is good or bad or whatever.
[42:25] Speaker 4: It's just like jump to these conclusions. Yeah, it's meandering.
[42:29] Speaker 5: But I've come to realize that some of the people
[42:31] Speaker 5: who say all the right things that profess to be
[42:34] Speaker 5: on my side. Much worse for me than the people
[42:36] Speaker 5: who say the wrong things and openly put themselves on
[42:40] Speaker 5: the other side.
[42:41] Speaker 2: Yep. Every now and then Ted gets you on some talk.
[42:44] Speaker 3: I can't believe you did that, man. I can't believe
[42:45] Speaker 3: you did that. Other things Ted did that people can't believe.
[42:48] Speaker 2: Ted at one point named himself the manager of the
[42:50] Speaker 2: Atlanta Braves. It only worked for one game before the
[42:52] Speaker 2: commissioner told him that they would take the team from
[42:54] Speaker 2: him if he would do something silly like that. Another
[42:57] Speaker 2: great Ted story is they had a pitcher. I think
[42:59] Speaker 2: his name was Andy Messermith. Messermith or Messermith.
[43:02] Speaker 4: Either way.
[43:03] Speaker 2: His number was 17 or at some point his number
[43:05] Speaker 2: became 17.
[43:07] Speaker 3: And Ted got the bright idea. Why don't you guys start.
[43:09] Speaker 2: Calling him Channel and create this nickname for him as Channel?
[43:13] Speaker 2: And then how about we put on the back of
[43:15] Speaker 2: his jersey, rather than his last name, Channel? So it
[43:17] Speaker 2: would say Channel 17 on his jersey as advertisement for
[43:22] Speaker 2: the team.
[43:24] Speaker 3: And they were like, nah, Pippen, we're not going to
[43:27] Speaker 3: do that.
[43:27] Speaker 2: But at the same time, while Ted is the guy
[43:29] Speaker 2: that gave this gazillion dollars to the United Nations and
[43:32] Speaker 2: stood and said he was putting rich people on notice,
[43:34] Speaker 2: he was going to call them and that we was
[43:35] Speaker 2: going to do our part and everything else. Ted is
[43:40] Speaker 2: the guy who did those things. Ted is also the
[43:44] Speaker 2: guy who bought up all that land in Montana because
[43:47] Speaker 2: if he had it, then nobody could mess it up.
[43:50] Speaker 2: There are people who truly believe that Ted saved the
[43:52] Speaker 2: American bison in the United States of America. He was
[43:56] Speaker 2: a bold man with ideas. Ted also got kicked out
[43:59] Speaker 2: of Brown because he had a girl in his room.
[44:02] Speaker 4: Absurd.
[44:03] Speaker 3: That really happened.
[44:07] Speaker 5: I've been to Ted's restaurant and had a bison burger.
[44:11] Speaker 5: that he preserved and protected. But yeah, like that's, it
[44:15] Speaker 5: feels like Ted Turner represents a type of like ultra
[44:21] Speaker 5: rich person.
[44:22] Speaker 4: That we used to believe was real.
[44:24] Speaker 5: And we no longer feel like believe is real where
[44:27] Speaker 5: it's kind of eccentric and fun, but ultimately at his core,
[44:31] Speaker 5: a decent person says and does wrong things occasionally, but like,
[44:37] Speaker 5: it's not from a malicious place. I, I mean, I
[44:41] Speaker 5: think I was going to say not to eulogize.
[44:43] Speaker 4: Him, but like he is dead.
[44:45] Speaker 5: So I think everyone is going to say more positive
[44:47] Speaker 5: things about him in general. But it seems more honest
[44:51] Speaker 5: than what I think we experience now with a lot
[44:53] Speaker 5: of like super rich.
[44:55] Speaker 3: Yeah. Like, you know what?
[44:56] Speaker 2: It's that he started as a kind of rich.
[44:58] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[44:59] Speaker 2: And in order to get his bread, he had to
[45:01] Speaker 2: do like daring carnival barker kinds of things.
[45:05] Speaker 3: Right. So I think it then, you know, goes like.
[45:08] Speaker 2: Like Ted used to be on all the like late
[45:09] Speaker 2: night talk shows and everything else. And Ted has real actual,
[45:13] Speaker 2: had real actual jokes that he would tell when he
[45:15] Speaker 2: was around people. Like, no, he was a, they didn't
[45:19] Speaker 2: make a lot of dudes like that.
[45:21] Speaker 3: And again, we talk about the impact that he had
[45:23] Speaker 3: on the world.
[45:24] Speaker 2: You can't really downgrade it. You can't really downplay it.
[45:29] Speaker 2: And by the way, when all the white people were
[45:31] Speaker 2: running out of Atlanta, I saw somebody make this point online.
[45:33] Speaker 3: They're correct. When all the white people were leaving Atlanta,
[45:36] Speaker 3: Ted set up shop.
[45:38] Speaker 1: Right?
[45:38] Speaker 3: In the city of.
[45:39] Speaker 2: And that's a very, very important thing for a city
[45:42] Speaker 2: that was hugely affected by white flight.
[45:43] Speaker 3: He was also, and this.
[45:45] Speaker 2: Is why I say it gets interesting, Ted was riding
[45:48] Speaker 2: for the Palestinians. Like, he played it as neutral, but
[45:51] Speaker 2: he was just kind of like, hey, man, you know,
[45:53] Speaker 2: one side got an army, one side don't.
[45:56] Speaker 4: All right.
[46:01] Speaker 5: To the point that I made earlier, how I say
[46:03] Speaker 5: crazy things on here, you always protect me.
[46:04] Speaker 4: I'm about to say one. I.
[46:07] Speaker 5: have been, like in the last few months, I think
[46:12] Speaker 5: I've never understood conspiracy theorists more than I do now,
[46:18] Speaker 5: is where you feel that something different is happening, but
[46:24] Speaker 5: you're watching and you aren't understanding it. When you brought
[46:26] Speaker 5: up the Palestinians, it's like, yeah, Remember when that was
[46:31] Speaker 5: a thing we heard about all the time?
[46:33] Speaker 4: Yes.
[46:35] Speaker 5: And then with the way that the ceasefire has been violated,
[46:40] Speaker 5: but we're being told that it wasn't violated. It's like,
[46:44] Speaker 5: I wonder how the rest of the world experiences this.
[46:46] Speaker 5: And then this war that we're in, or I guess
[46:49] Speaker 5: it's currently on.
[46:52] Speaker 4: Break, that war. It started when we was bombing.
[46:59] Speaker 5: schools man yeah and it's like i don't know and
[47:02] Speaker 5: this is the this is not to say suggest any
[47:04] Speaker 5: conspiracy theory but it's just i think what i was
[47:06] Speaker 5: saying why i feel like i sympathize with them more
[47:09] Speaker 5: than before is because i understand that there are decisions
[47:14] Speaker 5: made for what we will watch and read and see
[47:18] Speaker 5: and those influence the conversation and i imagine in the
[47:23] Speaker 5: rest of the world it's like America started this war
[47:27] Speaker 5: by bombing kids.
[47:28] Speaker 4: Yeah. But here, all I'm hearing about is gas prices. Yeah.
[47:32] Speaker 4: It's like, I feel like a crazy person. Yeah.
[47:36] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[47:37] Speaker 5: And then, like, eventually, years and years of feeling like that,
[47:39] Speaker 5: I imagine that at some point, I'm going to be like,
[47:43] Speaker 5: this is a massive conspiracy to hide.
[47:46] Speaker 4: All this from us.
[47:49] Speaker 2: By the way, in line with that, the contradictions of
[47:51] Speaker 2: Ted Turner, he's the guy that was riding for Palestine.
[47:55] Speaker 2: And he was also Tomahawk chopping it up through those runs.
[47:59] Speaker 2: His woman doing it with two hands. Because one Tomahawk
[48:02] Speaker 2: chop was not enough.
[48:06] Speaker 4: They still doing that at FSU, right?
[48:08] Speaker 3: They still doing it in Atlanta, too. Oh, they are
[48:10] Speaker 3: still doing it.
[48:11] Speaker 4: In Atlanta, too? Yeah, they still doing it. Oh, yeah,
[48:12] Speaker 4: I guess they still called the Braves.
[48:14] Speaker 3: They are still called the Braves.
[48:15] Speaker 4: Like, look. Did they take the Tomahawk off the jersey
[48:18] Speaker 4: or that's still there?
[48:19] Speaker 3: They never did.
[48:20] Speaker 2: Only... that just tells you how wild it was that
[48:23] Speaker 2: a team used to be called the red skids. Cause,
[48:26] Speaker 2: cause that, that, that allowed everybody else to skate because
[48:30] Speaker 2: that was such a preposterous notion and they can't wait
[48:32] Speaker 2: to bring.
[48:33] Speaker 4: That shit back. Yeah.
[48:35] Speaker 5: It's been, it's been noticed that they are going back
[48:37] Speaker 5: to a lot of the old aesthetic and they're taking
[48:40] Speaker 5: the name commanders off of a lot of things. Like
[48:44] Speaker 5: people believe that they might go with the warriors, uh,
[48:47] Speaker 5: and not go all the way back to the original name.
[48:50] Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
[48:51] Speaker 3: I don't think you can do that, right? Like, I don't,
[48:53] Speaker 3: at least I don't.
[48:54] Speaker 4: I don't know why you would want to. You're far
[48:57] Speaker 4: enough away now.
[48:58] Speaker 3: Like, what you doing? And nothing happened.
[49:01] Speaker 2: Like, you guys, everything kind of worked itself out. And
[49:04] Speaker 2: by the way, on Ted, we didn't even have a
[49:06] Speaker 2: chance to get into the wrestling. Like, there's a zillion
[49:08] Speaker 2: different other things.
[49:09] Speaker 3: On this with Ted that we could have.
[49:11] Speaker 2: I would recommend there is a docuseries that I think
[49:13] Speaker 2: was done, duh, through CNN, but it's called Call Me Ted,
[49:16] Speaker 2: which is based on his autobiography. that is on HBO Max,
[49:19] Speaker 2: it's a bit sad. but very interesting, and as Spencer
[49:22] Speaker 2: makes the point about his autobiography, it tells a lot
[49:24] Speaker 2: about his penchant for adultery and a lot about his
[49:27] Speaker 2: struggles with mental health.
[49:28] Speaker 3: Like, it's a He was an American original, as they
[49:32] Speaker 3: often say.
[49:32] Speaker 2: And when I was younger, I didn't quite get while
[49:34] Speaker 2: saying that about somebody could be such a big deal.
[49:36] Speaker 3: But now I understand it in a much, much, much
[49:38] Speaker 3: different way.
[49:39] Speaker 4: Right.
[49:39] Speaker 2: Like there's something to be said about somebody when you
[49:42] Speaker 2: meet him and you're like, damn, they only made one
[49:43] Speaker 2: of those.
[49:45] Speaker 4: You know what I mean? Or only one of those
[49:48] Speaker 4: made it.
[49:49] Speaker 1: It might be the way that I would move your
[49:53] Speaker 1: words around a little bit and say that, yeah, I
[49:56] Speaker 1: think to go back to the Draymond conversation, it's like
[50:00] Speaker 1: there were 110 turners.
[50:02] Speaker 4: Only one of them turned out to be a success.
[50:05] Speaker 2: Yeah, and speaking of making it, who is trying to
[50:10] Speaker 2: make it such that the New England Patriots have to
[50:12] Speaker 2: get a new head coach?
[50:13] Speaker 3: Oh, God.
[50:15] Speaker 2: Because by the way, for the Patriots to be so boring,
[50:17] Speaker 2: for all these years, they stay off in some scandal, right?
[50:21] Speaker 2: Like there's a flat out boring squad that's always in
[50:23] Speaker 2: some scandal. And for all the people that are like,
[50:26] Speaker 2: Diana career over, but ain't nothing happening.
[50:28] Speaker 3: To Mike Vrabel.
[50:29] Speaker 2: Something happened to Mike Vrabel every day in the news,
[50:32] Speaker 2: which means something happened to Mike Vrabel every day at
[50:35] Speaker 2: the crib. And somebody really came with, maybe not the
[50:38] Speaker 2: big joker. Maybe it's just a little joker. Maybe it's
[50:41] Speaker 2: the deuce of spades. I don't know, but they put
[50:43] Speaker 2: it out that they was kicking it while she was
[50:45] Speaker 2: seven months pregnant. Who knew that Mike Vrabel listened to UGK?
[50:52] Speaker 2: That is a reference that eight people listening to this
[50:54] Speaker 2: show get, and every single one of them thinks that
[50:56] Speaker 2: that's amazing.
[50:57] Speaker 3: But that happened. This has really happened. I don't think
[51:02] Speaker 3: he's going to be the coach on opening week.
[51:04] Speaker 4: Yeah, I think you're right.
[51:06] Speaker 5: Our friend Charlie said yesterday when I was talking to
[51:10] Speaker 5: him that he would put money on Mike Vrabel being
[51:14] Speaker 5: the coach at Ohio State in four years.
[51:17] Speaker 3: Oh yeah, they don't care about this.
[51:20] Speaker 5: It's the perfect thing, too. Day is going to underachieve
[51:23] Speaker 5: just enough. Mike Bramble is going to be home for
[51:25] Speaker 5: a couple of years, and they're going to be.
[51:27] Speaker 4: Like, you're out of there, Day.
[51:29] Speaker 3: I hadn't thought about that.
[51:31] Speaker 5: It's the perfect thing where Charlie skipped to the beginning
[51:35] Speaker 5: or to the end of this.
[51:38] Speaker 4: This just sucks, man. I don't know.
[51:43] Speaker 5: I get that it was kind of funny to start
[51:47] Speaker 5: with like i i stopped laughing a long time.
[51:50] Speaker 3: I didn't think it would still be going on yeah
[51:54] Speaker 3: right so what's the funny.
[51:55] Speaker 5: Or mike you're right mike is that somebody yeah this
[51:58] Speaker 5: stuff keep coming and like it's gonna be hard for
[52:01] Speaker 5: mike very able to continue.
[52:02] Speaker 2: And look i think there's a part of the misery
[52:03] Speaker 2: the two of them are enduring right now that we
[52:05] Speaker 2: ain't talking enough about which is i bet they miss
[52:08] Speaker 2: the hell out of each other right now Like, there's
[52:11] Speaker 2: one thing that might make everything better, and it is
[52:14] Speaker 2: not available.
[52:16] Speaker 3: It's not on the board. It's not there.
[52:19] Speaker 5: And I think, so, like, there's, I think that part
[52:21] Speaker 5: is super obvious, too, where it's like, they, it appears
[52:28] Speaker 5: that they weren't each other's side.
[52:31] Speaker 4: Right. It was a double main situation.
[52:34] Speaker 5: Like, he was doing things that I cannot imagine happening
[52:40] Speaker 5: You know, like multiple hour, two person boat rides.
[52:46] Speaker 4: Like we going on vacations. Yo, yo.
[52:51] Speaker 3: And she's, she, she out to here.
[52:54] Speaker 4: I love you.
[52:56] Speaker 3: Yeah. She out to here like that.
[52:59] Speaker 2: Ooh, there's, I just, and look the messiness of it.
[53:03] Speaker 2: I think for me in the beginning, I think that
[53:04] Speaker 2: this is, this is something that's universally funny to people,
[53:07] Speaker 2: which is watching people get caught. That was the thing
[53:10] Speaker 2: about the Coldplay concert situation. It was funny because it
[53:13] Speaker 2: was so obvious that they had gotten caught. Relatable content
[53:17] Speaker 2: is getting caught doing something. Whatever the something happens to be,
[53:20] Speaker 2: that is relatable content and how you try to get
[53:23] Speaker 2: out of it.
[53:23] Speaker 3: Remember when the Coldplay thing happened and everybody was like, no,
[53:25] Speaker 3: this is how you get out of it.
[53:27] Speaker 2: I don't know if you want to brag about this
[53:29] Speaker 2: in front of your woman, but just saying. It's all
[53:32] Speaker 2: relatable content, right? Everybody can see that, but now this
[53:36] Speaker 2: is a for real Somebody doesn't want him to keep
[53:40] Speaker 2: coaching this football team, it feels like. They also, by
[53:43] Speaker 2: the way, the Patriots had the Stefan Diggs thing go
[53:46] Speaker 2: down this week. And that one I thought was interesting
[53:48] Speaker 2: in a different way. Because if you remember, when this
[53:51] Speaker 2: first came up, they didn't do anything, any sort of
[53:54] Speaker 2: discipline to him whatsoever. They just kept him out there.
[53:56] Speaker 2: And it was easy to go on the cynical, oh,
[53:58] Speaker 2: it only matters if you're winning, right? But no, it
[54:00] Speaker 2: turns out that he was like, nah, dog, that's some nonsense.
[54:04] Speaker 2: And then it turned out to be some nonsense.
[54:06] Speaker 5: That was always the, the, the fight or not always
[54:09] Speaker 5: the fight. At one point it was the fight when
[54:11] Speaker 5: I was at the union with the league all the time.
[54:14] Speaker 5: And that is a fight that we ultimately lost on.
[54:17] Speaker 5: And I think it's probably better for the league as
[54:19] Speaker 5: a whole. And, but it's worse for, I think individual
[54:24] Speaker 5: players is like, no, we got to wait for the
[54:27] Speaker 5: legal process, man. You can't be out here punishing people
[54:30] Speaker 5: based on evidence that you have or, or ideas that
[54:34] Speaker 5: you have or, or, um, But the difference is I
[54:39] Speaker 5: was concerned with justice and the league was concerned with marketing.
[54:44] Speaker 5: And it was like, no, this one random player whose
[54:47] Speaker 5: name 90% of the country didn't know, if he got
[54:53] Speaker 5: a whiff of anything, get him out.
[54:55] Speaker 4: Of here and protect the shield, as they say.
[54:58] Speaker 5: And we can't have him out there playing on Sunday
[55:00] Speaker 5: so people talking about it the way that they're talking
[55:02] Speaker 5: about it. And I think that ultimately might end up
[55:05] Speaker 5: being the reason why the brave, like if this stuff
[55:08] Speaker 5: keep coming, it's like, I don't even know.
[55:11] Speaker 4: Yeah. How there's like no way they got to be together.
[55:21] Speaker 4: That's it. That's the only way.
[55:23] Speaker 5: It's like, I didn't have the heart or courage to
[55:26] Speaker 5: leave what I was in before, but this is my person.
[55:29] Speaker 5: I'm sorry for everybody I hurt and how we can,
[55:32] Speaker 5: but then we got the boys, right? I don't even
[55:35] Speaker 5: want to talk about this shit, man.
[55:37] Speaker 3: Hey, bro, let me tell you. I just throw it
[55:38] Speaker 3: out here.
[55:39] Speaker 2: I ain't never seen nobody happier than that time I
[55:41] Speaker 2: saw TJ Holmes and his new woman together at the
[55:44] Speaker 2: Soho house.
[55:45] Speaker 3: They looked at that. That's what love looked like right there.
[55:48] Speaker 2: They was like, you know, the joke people tell on
[55:50] Speaker 2: the internet, don't let your marriage stop you from your
[55:52] Speaker 2: true love.
[55:56] Speaker 3: Like, that appeared to be that.
[55:57] Speaker 2: Like, I only brought it up because I do think
[56:00] Speaker 2: it's worth noting and it's important. It's become such a
[56:01] Speaker 2: football story because the nature of this scandal makes it
[56:03] Speaker 2: feel like this is not going, this isn't ending anytime soon.
[56:07] Speaker 2: And I just don't know how long it can continue
[56:10] Speaker 2: to go without.
[56:11] Speaker 3: But you know what helps? Going to the Super Bowl
[56:14] Speaker 3: last year.
[56:14] Speaker 4: Yeah, that helps. That helps a lot.
[56:16] Speaker 3: Yeah, if he had put up a Gerard Mayo situation, nah.
[56:21] Speaker 5: I mean, he won't be done even if he does
[56:24] Speaker 5: leave the Patriots. he won't be done. Somebody else will
[56:27] Speaker 5: bring him back in. He'll go to some more therapy.
[56:31] Speaker 5: He'll have enough time off and someone will bring him back.
[56:34] Speaker 5: If I'm skipping some steps, but like what he is,
[56:38] Speaker 5: it's different, obviously for Diana, she's in a much worse
[56:42] Speaker 5: situation where it's like, cause Mike's thing is not a
[56:46] Speaker 5: demonstration of him doing his job improperly or not being
[56:49] Speaker 5: able to do his job. But for Diana, like it's,
[56:53] Speaker 5: it's as implications on like, how she could do her job.
[56:56] Speaker 5: And like with the way that media has changed, I'm
[56:58] Speaker 5: sure there's a lane out there for her if she
[57:00] Speaker 5: wants to take it.
[57:01] Speaker 4: But I mean, I know her.
[57:03] Speaker 5: That doesn't seem like a lane that she would be
[57:06] Speaker 5: interested in.
[57:06] Speaker 3: I just hope she moves out of that house.
[57:11] Speaker 4: Yeah. I would. I would recommend.
[57:14] Speaker 3: But you know what? Dominique Fosworth.
[57:16] Speaker 4: Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
