[0:05] Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the right time. My name
[0:08] Speaker 1: is Beaumont Jones.
[0:09] Speaker 2: Thanks for listening.
[0:10] Speaker 1: Grab you get your podcast. Thanks for watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like,
[0:14] Speaker 1: rate us, review us, give us five stars. You only
[0:16] Speaker 1: give us four stars. I'm inclined to.
[0:18] Speaker 2: Believe you are a hater.
[0:20] Speaker 1: It is Thursday with Dominique Foxworth. What's going on, brother?
[0:25] Speaker 3: Man. We got football. Life gets a lot easier for us.
[0:29] Speaker 1: It does. But I feel like you ain't been on
[0:31] Speaker 1: it like two months that I'm thinking about this.
[0:33] Speaker 3: Yeah, I miss it. I'm back. You got on the
[0:36] Speaker 3: Honolulu Blue. Everything's right in the world. That's right, baby.
[0:39] Speaker 2: That's right.
[0:40] Speaker 1: I bought all this Honolulu Blue I be forgetting to wear.
[0:42] Speaker 1: Not this year, dog. Not this year. We gonna talk
[0:45] Speaker 1: a little bit more about America's team. But I ain't
[0:47] Speaker 1: gonna lie to you. I don't know if anybody else
[0:49] Speaker 1: feels this way, but I didn't know it was a
[0:52] Speaker 1: Wednesday game until Wednesday.
[0:54] Speaker 2: I thought.
[0:56] Speaker 1: That they were going to run one of these silly
[0:58] Speaker 1: doubleheaders on us because they got the game on Thursday
[1:01] Speaker 1: over there in Australia. And I thought that that game
[1:03] Speaker 1: was going to come on after the first game on
[1:05] Speaker 1: Thursday because the first game is always on Thursday. But
[1:07] Speaker 1: the NFL, just letting you know, they're coming for the
[1:10] Speaker 1: whole goddamn week. They put them a game on Wednesday.
[1:14] Speaker 3: I mean, I'm sure that I don't have to tell
[1:17] Speaker 3: you and most people who listen to the show know
[1:19] Speaker 3: that it's most likely about money. They got to sell
[1:22] Speaker 3: a new package. So you know what? Amazon, you want
[1:24] Speaker 3: a game? You want a standalone game? Start the season?
[1:27] Speaker 3: All right, we're going to do this kickoff thing on Wednesday.
[1:29] Speaker 3: You can just stand alone on Thursday.
[1:31] Speaker 1: And I will say this about the Thursday game. I
[1:34] Speaker 1: had to look it up, and I'm going to do
[1:36] Speaker 1: it again. Let me put into the search time in Melbourne. Okay,
[1:41] Speaker 1: so Melbourne is 14 hours ahead, which is to say
[1:43] Speaker 1: they'll be playing that game at 1030 in the morning
[1:47] Speaker 1: in Australia on a Friday. And look, maybe that's one
[1:50] Speaker 1: of them countries where people don't go to work, right?
[1:52] Speaker 1: I just got through going to three different European countries
[1:55] Speaker 1: that appear to be very work-optional. Maybe that's the way
[1:58] Speaker 1: that they treat things in Australia.
[1:59] Speaker 2: I don't know.
[2:00] Speaker 3: I mean, I think the goal of this is world domination.
[2:03] Speaker 3: You would think that they would put it at a
[2:05] Speaker 3: time that's convenient for the other parts of the world.
[2:07] Speaker 3: They got to balance the pay. I mean, I guess
[2:10] Speaker 3: I'm surprised because it doesn't seem like it's any bigger event,
[2:13] Speaker 3: I would guess, for them over there that it's like
[2:17] Speaker 3: this standalone thing than if it was just a game there.
[2:19] Speaker 3: I think I should probably be quiet. They probably know
[2:21] Speaker 3: how to make money.
[2:22] Speaker 1: Yeah, but look, we ain't got no reason to think
[2:24] Speaker 1: they smart. Let's just throw that out there. But first,
[2:28] Speaker 1: in that Wednesday night game, two things happened. Sam Darnold
[2:33] Speaker 1: got hurt and Drake May stunk again.
[2:37] Speaker 2: Which one do you want to get to first?
[2:39] Speaker 3: I mean, I think that Drake May stunk again is
[2:42] Speaker 3: a little bit more interesting to me right now because
[2:44] Speaker 3: we don't have all the information on the Sam Darnold stuff.
[2:47] Speaker 3: I'm sure that'll matter, but he is less integral to
[2:50] Speaker 3: the success of that team than most Superbowl champion quarterbacks.
[2:53] Speaker 3: I would say. Yes. Drake may stuff is interesting. Okay.
[2:56] Speaker 2: We will go to the Drake may stuff.
[2:57] Speaker 1: And then I think I will make the Sam Darnold
[3:00] Speaker 1: more interesting than many people may have expected.
[3:02] Speaker 3: All right. Well, the Drake start with Drake may it's
[3:04] Speaker 3: even more interesting to me because it comes on the
[3:07] Speaker 3: heels of three really bad games in a row. And
[3:11] Speaker 3: so like, I know he was running up for the
[3:13] Speaker 3: MVP and many people voted for him and think that
[3:16] Speaker 3: he should be the MVP, but, uh, It hasn't been
[3:21] Speaker 3: MVP-like since he entered the playoffs and at the beginning
[3:24] Speaker 3: of this. And you know how it is. These standalone games,
[3:27] Speaker 3: I think you're one of the first people a decade
[3:29] Speaker 3: ago was talking about how them standalone games really have
[3:32] Speaker 3: an impact on the way we talk and think about you. So,
[3:35] Speaker 3: Drake May, you're going to have to sit on them
[3:36] Speaker 3: three interceptions until I don't know when the next time
[3:38] Speaker 3: y'all got a Monday or a Thursday night.
[3:41] Speaker 1: He's had four straight standalone bad games.
[3:46] Speaker 3: And one... All but the last two. I guess it's
[3:49] Speaker 3: not all. He won. He lost the last two. It
[3:52] Speaker 3: just felt like such a run in the playoffs, man.
[3:55] Speaker 3: It just felt like he was ripping through the playoffs
[3:57] Speaker 3: even though he wasn't doing nothing. Well, he and C.J.
[3:59] Speaker 1: Stroud, who I imagine we'll talk about a little later
[4:01] Speaker 1: in this, right? C.J. Stroud is going into year four.
[4:06] Speaker 1: But the bottom line is, what you are in year
[4:10] Speaker 1: three as an NFL quarterback, nothing that happened in years
[4:14] Speaker 1: one and two matters.
[4:15] Speaker 4: Right.
[4:16] Speaker 1: It is strictly like this is when the decisions are
[4:18] Speaker 1: being made about whether you get an extension. This is
[4:21] Speaker 1: where people really start locking in and feeling like they
[4:24] Speaker 1: have some idea of what you are. Jayden Daniels had
[4:26] Speaker 1: one of the great rookie seasons that we have ever seen.
[4:30] Speaker 1: All he did last year was be injured. And now
[4:33] Speaker 1: he's on the goddamn clock. We haven't actually seen him
[4:37] Speaker 1: be bad. He is now on the clock. Drake May
[4:41] Speaker 1: was just the MVP runner-up for the whole league, and
[4:46] Speaker 1: his team made it to the Super Bowl, and he
[4:50] Speaker 1: is on the clock. And by the way, I don't
[4:52] Speaker 1: think that is a ridiculous proposition to have. I think
[4:55] Speaker 1: it's ridiculous in the sense that he should be their
[4:57] Speaker 1: quarterback next year, too.
[4:58] Speaker 2: Like, you're here now. You might as well go with it.
[5:01] Speaker 3: Shit.
[5:02] Speaker 2: It's year three, and J.J.
[5:04] Speaker 3: McCarthy is third on the depth chart.
[5:07] Speaker 2: His career is basically over.
[5:10] Speaker 3: He's going to get another chance somewhere eventually. Well, maybe
[5:13] Speaker 3: he won't, actually. I mean, normally a high draft pick
[5:16] Speaker 3: will get another chance. He'll get on another roster, but
[5:19] Speaker 3: no one's going to bring him in with expectations of
[5:21] Speaker 3: being a starter.
[5:22] Speaker 2: That's J.J.
[5:23] Speaker 3: McCarthy.
[5:24] Speaker 1: I feel like if there was another chance for him,
[5:25] Speaker 1: he would be on that team right now.
[5:27] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[5:29] Speaker 2: They starting Carson Wentz over him.
[5:32] Speaker 3: And I think you can go back. Part of it is, like,
[5:35] Speaker 3: the confirming.
[5:37] Speaker 2: We're not starting, by the way, because he's number two.
[5:40] Speaker 3: He's behind Carson Wentz. But I think part of it is, like,
[5:42] Speaker 3: the priors have something to do with it, too. Like,
[5:45] Speaker 3: he was kind of a projection based on his college experience.
[5:49] Speaker 3: It's like, he's going to be something. Then he got there,
[5:52] Speaker 3: and they was like, you're not good, and we don't
[5:54] Speaker 3: really like you.
[5:56] Speaker 1: That's look they went and got the we don't like
[5:59] Speaker 1: you that much all-star to start over him they got
[6:03] Speaker 1: a short black dude that people don't like.
[6:06] Speaker 2: Who got through his year three but we have just.
[6:09] Speaker 1: People have decided stinks i disagree entirely but the decision
[6:14] Speaker 1: had been made and they looked at him and were
[6:16] Speaker 1: like yeah this first round pick get him out of
[6:19] Speaker 1: here man you know why because he's bad for vibes.
[6:22] Speaker 3: I actually don't think that drake may is on the
[6:24] Speaker 3: clock I think this year would have to be really,
[6:27] Speaker 3: really bad for Drake May to not, for it to
[6:31] Speaker 3: be a smart decision for them to mess around with
[6:34] Speaker 3: his money. Like, I mean, he's shown enough for you
[6:39] Speaker 3: to be like, it's worth locking him up on a
[6:42] Speaker 3: long-term deal to get whatever cost savings we could get, right?
[6:48] Speaker 2: I mean.
[6:49] Speaker 3: Well, hold on.
[6:50] Speaker 2: And I ask you that.
[6:51] Speaker 1: I am inclined to agree with you.
[6:53] Speaker 3: Right.
[6:53] Speaker 1: Because I think we know it's just that hard to
[6:55] Speaker 1: go find a quarterback.
[6:58] Speaker 3: But C.J.
[6:59] Speaker 1: Stroud. I would have made the same exact or one
[7:02] Speaker 1: could make the same exact argument or could have made
[7:05] Speaker 1: after year three that you're probably not going to get
[7:07] Speaker 1: better than him. Now, granted, part of why C.J. Stroud
[7:10] Speaker 1: may not have got locked in is we'll get it.
[7:12] Speaker 1: And I'm here taking nobody's discount.
[7:14] Speaker 3: Right.
[7:14] Speaker 2: So maybe maybe that's the part of it.
[7:17] Speaker 3: But.
[7:18] Speaker 2: Drake may could be in that situation.
[7:20] Speaker 3: I don't know. I'm with you.
[7:21] Speaker 1: It's this run of them in a row that is really,
[7:24] Speaker 1: really worrisome. And in the ways, in the ways that
[7:30] Speaker 1: make you wonder if something has gotten tripped off in
[7:32] Speaker 1: the bad way.
[7:34] Speaker 3: Right.
[7:34] Speaker 1: Cause it was, it's, it's seen very bad decisions that
[7:38] Speaker 1: come from being very unsure.
[7:41] Speaker 3: And that's so like, this is where you can get
[7:43] Speaker 3: into trouble with your decision-making or maybe it'll help you
[7:46] Speaker 3: with the decision-making with quarterbacks is, It's never just, can't
[7:50] Speaker 3: say never. If the quarterback's good and he's playing poorly,
[7:54] Speaker 3: it's not just him, right? Like there's so many other complications.
[7:58] Speaker 3: Mike McDaniel is, or Mike McDonald, he busting their ass
[8:02] Speaker 3: back to back, coaching their ass in a circle. It's outrageous.
[8:07] Speaker 3: Like from the protections, eating their protections alive, getting a
[8:09] Speaker 3: ton of pressure. And I mean, that doesn't speak for
[8:11] Speaker 3: what's happening in the previous games also, but in those
[8:13] Speaker 3: other games too, those defense were getting after him and
[8:16] Speaker 3: to the point, That's the thing that kills a quarterback.
[8:18] Speaker 3: And to your point, that could get into a quarterback's
[8:21] Speaker 3: mind is when you are under siege and you can't
[8:25] Speaker 3: trust your protection, you're going to get a little antsy. And, like,
[8:28] Speaker 3: I think he pointed to it last night is that
[8:30] Speaker 3: he was getting impatient because the receivers weren't open. The
[8:34] Speaker 3: big plays that he made a living off of last year, like,
[8:37] Speaker 3: that's what he was awesome at was deep ball connections
[8:40] Speaker 3: to Keyshawn Booty. They said, we're going to upgrade from
[8:43] Speaker 3: Keyshawn Booty, get him out of here. You're going to
[8:45] Speaker 3: hit these deep balls to someone else. And he was
[8:47] Speaker 3: doing fine, dumping it, dumping it, dumping it. Then he
[8:50] Speaker 3: tried to get aggressive, and that pressure started getting there,
[8:52] Speaker 3: and then he just kind of unwrapped.
[8:53] Speaker 1: Yeah, and that last interception where it was quick game,
[8:57] Speaker 1: and after the quick game went away, instead of quickly
[8:59] Speaker 1: throwing it away, he was like, watch.
[9:01] Speaker 3: This, though.
[9:02] Speaker 2: Except I don't think he was like, watch this, though.
[9:04] Speaker 3: He was like, what do I do?
[9:06] Speaker 2: What do I do?
[9:07] Speaker 3: It was so many times in that game when that happened.
[9:09] Speaker 3: The other time that jumps out in my mind was,
[9:12] Speaker 3: the screen pass to the tight end that he decided
[9:14] Speaker 3: not to throw. It's like quarterback 101. You have to
[9:18] Speaker 3: either throw the screen or run the ball. So, like,
[9:21] Speaker 3: if the screen is covered, throw it at his feet.
[9:23] Speaker 3: You get a legal man downfield because you just kind
[9:26] Speaker 3: of panic because it wasn't there. It's just that sort
[9:28] Speaker 3: of stuff that you thought Drake May was passed. And
[9:31] Speaker 3: I know he's only in his third year, but last
[9:34] Speaker 3: year he was balling. I thought he was passing. And, like,
[9:36] Speaker 3: through the course of the whole game, there's just a
[9:37] Speaker 3: number of plays where it's like, to your point, It's
[9:40] Speaker 3: something going on. He just seems so uncomfortable, which he
[9:43] Speaker 3: hasn't seen comfortable in a long time. And that's the
[9:46] Speaker 3: bad part. The stretch. You got to get some bums
[9:47] Speaker 3: on this schedule again, like last year, baby.
[9:50] Speaker 1: That is why every time somebody gets on a college team.
[9:53] Speaker 2: For scheduling bums to start the year.
[9:55] Speaker 1: No, baby, we got to get this thing up to speed.
[9:58] Speaker 1: Can you imagine what an NFL? schedule would look like
[10:01] Speaker 1: if teams got to pick their own opponents?
[10:03] Speaker 3: Well, it'd be a fight over a couple of people
[10:05] Speaker 3: at the bottom.
[10:06] Speaker 1: Well, no, it wouldn't be a fight. It'd go the
[10:08] Speaker 1: same way that it'd go in college. You just throw
[10:10] Speaker 1: a little bread. What they would need is a relegation
[10:12] Speaker 1: situation so you can get you an NFL 1AA.
[10:15] Speaker 2: You understand what I'm saying?
[10:17] Speaker 3: I always thought that was crazy in college. Only for football.
[10:21] Speaker 3: Because it's like actually violent. Like it's actually dangerous for
[10:26] Speaker 3: some of these boys. Like seriously. And y'all like essentially
[10:30] Speaker 3: knowing that you're going to get your ass beat. Like look, you,
[10:34] Speaker 3: your future, insurance salesman. His future, NFL All-Pro. Go out
[10:40] Speaker 3: there for three hours and let him bust you in
[10:44] Speaker 3: your shit. so we can get paid.
[10:49] Speaker 1: Just because we need, y'all are extras, right? That's basically
[10:53] Speaker 1: what it is. We pay you because we're going to
[10:55] Speaker 1: sell these tickets and we need somebody else to come
[10:57] Speaker 1: play this home game. Y'all are cast members. You are
[11:01] Speaker 1: background dancers.
[11:02] Speaker 3: Exactly, but I'm talking about for the institutions that sign
[11:06] Speaker 3: them up.
[11:07] Speaker 1: They're background dancers that get hit in the mouth. That
[11:10] Speaker 1: was one thing I love when D.I. was at Jackson State.
[11:13] Speaker 1: He's like, we ain't going to go play them games.
[11:14] Speaker 1: What are you talking about? And they like, we got
[11:17] Speaker 1: to fund volleyball. Where are we going to get this
[11:18] Speaker 1: volleyball money from?
[11:20] Speaker 3: How are we going to fund this basketball team and
[11:24] Speaker 3: our soccer team? By putting your ass out there across
[11:28] Speaker 3: from Tristan Wirfs and watch that man jump out a
[11:32] Speaker 3: pool at 350 and run through your face.
[11:35] Speaker 1: Hey, the one time it did lead to something cool
[11:37] Speaker 1: in college, though, was that time that Ohio State scheduled
[11:41] Speaker 1: their first game against Buffalo, and Khalil Mack was out
[11:45] Speaker 1: there destroying them.
[11:47] Speaker 2: It's like, yo, who the fuck is he?
[11:49] Speaker 3: Yeah, there might be one player on some of these
[11:52] Speaker 3: teams that's like, this is the only time that people
[11:55] Speaker 3: are going to look at you and respect your competition,
[11:58] Speaker 3: so maybe they are getting an opportunity, but most of
[12:00] Speaker 3: those teams don't got those guys, and we almost got
[12:02] Speaker 3: the Western Michigan upset, but.
[12:04] Speaker 1: But I always imagine them Ohio State boys probably wasn't
[12:07] Speaker 1: even watching the tape.
[12:09] Speaker 3: Right?
[12:09] Speaker 1: And the coach was like, I'm telling you, that number
[12:12] Speaker 1: 51 or whatever his number was there, y'all need to
[12:14] Speaker 1: watch out for him.
[12:15] Speaker 2: They're like, yeah, I bet, coach.
[12:16] Speaker 3: I bet.
[12:17] Speaker 1: Next thing they know, that motherfucker got you up against
[12:19] Speaker 1: the wall. He's shaking the change out of your pockets.
[12:23] Speaker 3: It just hit me that it's so much worse now
[12:26] Speaker 3: because Khalil Mack wouldn't still be there. No. No. Like,
[12:30] Speaker 3: it's so much worse now. Like, those guys aren't even
[12:32] Speaker 3: there anymore. Like, the one, two guys that you might have,
[12:36] Speaker 3: Ohio State already bought their ass. It ain't nothing but
[12:39] Speaker 3: insurance salesmen left.
[12:41] Speaker 1: Yes, in fact, they got to just stop. Like, this
[12:43] Speaker 1: is the best argument for allowing the power schools to
[12:47] Speaker 1: break off into their own thing. Because now it actually
[12:50] Speaker 1: is unfair. Like, not unfair simply in the sense that
[12:53] Speaker 1: they'll probably win. It's inhumane at this point.
[12:56] Speaker 3: It's safety. Yeah, like there at least was one or
[12:59] Speaker 3: two guys out there that could play on the next level.
[13:02] Speaker 3: Now you show a little glimpse, we got some money
[13:04] Speaker 3: for you. We're going to take him too. It's the
[13:10] Speaker 3: only sport like that. Like we see in football, the
[13:12] Speaker 3: big story coming out of the first game is like
[13:15] Speaker 3: major injuries. I was thinking about, I think I text
[13:18] Speaker 3: our group chat this. It's just, I know that it's normal.
[13:21] Speaker 3: We become accustomed to it, but there is no other
[13:23] Speaker 3: sport where like one of the core injuries determining factors
[13:28] Speaker 3: is who going to be left standing. Yes.
[13:32] Speaker 1: There, there is no other sport where everyone acknowledges that
[13:37] Speaker 1: you can't just go play for fun.
[13:40] Speaker 2: You can't even go play for practice.
[13:43] Speaker 1: If the stakes are such that you could only play
[13:46] Speaker 1: this game, if everything is on the line, because otherwise.
[13:50] Speaker 3: It would be stupid. I mean, I know the war
[13:53] Speaker 3: parallels are a little too much, but I don't know
[13:56] Speaker 3: any other line of work or endeavor where everybody goes
[14:00] Speaker 3: in saying, you know what? We all ain't going to
[14:03] Speaker 3: make it out. Guaranteed. Guaranteed. Some of us ain't going
[14:08] Speaker 3: to finish this. Right?
[14:12] Speaker 1: There's no chance that we can get through three hours
[14:15] Speaker 1: with all 53 of you.
[14:17] Speaker 3: We say the Lord's Prayer together. Before we start the game,
[14:22] Speaker 3: every single game, knowing that the post game, our father
[14:27] Speaker 3: will have fewer guys in it because some of them
[14:30] Speaker 3: are going to be getting MR damn eyes. Every time.
[14:36] Speaker 2: Some of them have already left.
[14:38] Speaker 3: Yeah, they're not here. They're at the hospital. They sleep.
[14:42] Speaker 3: Some of them is knocked out cold and they don't
[14:45] Speaker 3: know why we're here, what we're doing. So we know that.
[14:49] Speaker 3: The prayer is serious. This is not just a throwaway prayer.
[14:52] Speaker 3: We're really praying. We need some protection.
[14:54] Speaker 1: There was a night one time where me and you
[14:57] Speaker 1: were on the phone because the ambulance came to the
[14:59] Speaker 1: football game and it left and the lights went on.
[15:03] Speaker 1: They were stopping at red lights.
[15:06] Speaker 2: We were like, hey.
[15:08] Speaker 1: Did we just, did we just, did that just happen?
[15:12] Speaker 3: We had to call each other because we were shook.
[15:14] Speaker 3: We were shaken up. We needed to lean on one
[15:16] Speaker 3: another for support. Brother, did you just see what I
[15:19] Speaker 3: just saw?
[15:20] Speaker 1: To this day, I still can't believe he wasn't dead.
[15:24] Speaker 1: Because everything they were doing said dead.
[15:29] Speaker 3: And it was plausible.
[15:30] Speaker 1: And by the way, he didn't even die in some
[15:32] Speaker 1: football shit. But it was still plausible somebody could die
[15:36] Speaker 1: out here. And they was about to go play again.
[15:40] Speaker 2: It was out there warming up.
[15:43] Speaker 3: It's the only sport like that in like the combat
[15:45] Speaker 3: sports where we've like, you got a plan for something
[15:48] Speaker 3: like that happens because there's a chance that it happened.
[15:51] Speaker 3: If it happens in any other sport, we've like fluke accident.
[15:54] Speaker 3: We blame them. What was you doing? Were you drinking
[15:56] Speaker 3: or smoking? Something happened to you. What were you doing?
[16:01] Speaker 2: You need to get off them drugs.
[16:03] Speaker 3: Exactly. If somebody passed out, that's what we would think.
[16:05] Speaker 3: But at football games, we like, damn. It's football, man.
[16:09] Speaker 1: I do want to say this about the Patriots before
[16:11] Speaker 1: we go. There's only one person for whom a focus
[16:19] Speaker 1: on Drake May is a good thing. And it's somewhat counterintuitive, right?
[16:22] Speaker 1: Because you have your young quarterback, right? He came out
[16:25] Speaker 1: after three years in school. You don't want all the
[16:27] Speaker 1: attention on him and the idea that what happens to
[16:30] Speaker 1: the team is a direct result of his play.
[16:33] Speaker 2: No, you want to feel like you can spread wealth.
[16:35] Speaker 1: But if they losing, there's one person that's served by
[16:38] Speaker 1: the losing being a result of bad quarterback play, and
[16:41] Speaker 1: it's the biggest distraction of the NFL offseason, Pippen Mike Vrabel.
[16:48] Speaker 3: Yeah, ain't nobody talking about it now. No, but we will, brother.
[16:52] Speaker 2: We will.
[16:53] Speaker 3: Yeah, to your point, though, if he wins, it becomes
[16:58] Speaker 3: a funny thing that people point to. If he loses,
[17:01] Speaker 3: it becomes like, part of the story that we say,
[17:04] Speaker 3: this is why it happened. And also, you know, I
[17:06] Speaker 3: was thinking this as you were saying, I knew you
[17:08] Speaker 3: were going to Mike Vrabel, but also Will Campbell.
[17:12] Speaker 2: I forgot about him.
[17:13] Speaker 3: It wasn't much better, big dog.
[17:15] Speaker 2: Well, didn't they say he was hurt last year?
[17:18] Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm sure.
[17:18] Speaker 1: I know they said it, but yeah, I did not
[17:21] Speaker 1: pay close enough attention to know if things are back
[17:24] Speaker 1: to the way they were, but, but short arms was still.
[17:27] Speaker 3: Well, I mean, To your point, I assume that you
[17:30] Speaker 3: normally don't pay that close attention to the tackles. You
[17:33] Speaker 3: couldn't avoid them in the Super Bowl. You could watch
[17:35] Speaker 3: this game and not see it. I've been re-watching it
[17:38] Speaker 3: this morning, and it wasn't as much that he was terrible.
[17:43] Speaker 3: He struggled a couple times, which is fine, but it
[17:45] Speaker 3: was also that they were doing unorthodox things. They had
[17:49] Speaker 3: him cutting on plays that weren't screens or quick game.
[17:53] Speaker 3: It just felt like they were trying to protect him
[17:55] Speaker 3: in a way that was like, oh.
[17:57] Speaker 2: That's not a good sign.
[17:58] Speaker 3: Right? Yeah, it's like.
[18:00] Speaker 1: Let me tell you a position that should not require gimmicks.
[18:06] Speaker 3: Left tackle.
[18:07] Speaker 1: That's like the security guard at your club. I don't
[18:10] Speaker 1: care how good he is at Kung Fu. He ain't
[18:12] Speaker 1: supposed to be 5'7. You understand what I'm saying? We
[18:15] Speaker 1: don't need no gimmicks out here. Just need a big
[18:17] Speaker 1: old dude that look like a wall.
[18:20] Speaker 3: Right?
[18:20] Speaker 1: Like you try to hit this shit off before it
[18:22] Speaker 1: even gets to anything. You don't even want to find
[18:24] Speaker 1: out if he can fight. Right?
[18:25] Speaker 2: Just give people something to think about.
[18:27] Speaker 1: If this dude, but you come out there and the
[18:29] Speaker 1: security guard all of a sudden starts like, is that big?
[18:32] Speaker 2: But he starts doing all kind of wooka wooka and
[18:34] Speaker 2: everything else.
[18:35] Speaker 3: Hey, man.
[18:36] Speaker 2: This might not be, this might not be it.
[18:38] Speaker 3: Yeah. Like I, it wasn't like a big problem in
[18:41] Speaker 3: the way that it was in the Superbowl, but I
[18:44] Speaker 3: just was, I've been watching it this morning and that's
[18:46] Speaker 3: why I like, I saw the way that McDonald was
[18:49] Speaker 3: tearing up their protections and they were checking based on
[18:51] Speaker 3: their formation because they knew their protections. And I saw
[18:55] Speaker 3: the way that they were making sure he had help
[18:57] Speaker 3: and not leaving him alone and doing special type of
[19:00] Speaker 3: tactics to make sure that he could go. And like,
[19:03] Speaker 3: The Seahawks' edges are pretty good, but we're not dealing
[19:06] Speaker 3: with Miles Garrett.
[19:08] Speaker 1: And keep in mind, again, the Patriots are one of
[19:10] Speaker 1: those teams that were not as good as their record,
[19:13] Speaker 1: and it was a very interesting.
[19:15] Speaker 2: Postseason that worked out.
[19:17] Speaker 1: They played against C.J. Stroud playing dreadfully, right? The terrible
[19:23] Speaker 1: weather game in Denver that somebody had to win because
[19:25] Speaker 1: everybody was losing. They were set for a measure of
[19:29] Speaker 1: regression already. I think one would argue. They went with
[19:33] Speaker 1: 13-4 last year.
[19:34] Speaker 2: Like, come on. That wasn't going to happen again.
[19:35] Speaker 3: Jarrett Stidham was the quarterback. Oh, that's right. That's what
[19:40] Speaker 3: happened in that game.
[19:41] Speaker 2: That's right.
[19:42] Speaker 3: I said you're not going up against Myles Garrett, which
[19:44] Speaker 3: I had forgotten that they did go up against Miles
[19:46] Speaker 3: Garrett last year. And I believe, correct me if I'm wrong,
[19:51] Speaker 3: that motherfucker had five sacks. I think he had five sacks.
[19:58] Speaker 3: And I remember he had like three pressures that should
[20:01] Speaker 3: have been sacks that were more beautiful than the sacks
[20:04] Speaker 3: that he got.
[20:05] Speaker 2: You are correct.
[20:06] Speaker 1: There were five sacks, including what is termed here, quote,
[20:10] Speaker 1: a dominant first half strip sack, unquote.
[20:16] Speaker 3: Yeah, so, I mean, I'm sure he was injured, but.
[20:18] Speaker 2: And by the way, the Browns still lost 32-13.
[20:20] Speaker 1: Of course they did.
[20:24] Speaker 3: How do you get five sacks and you lose by 20?
[20:28] Speaker 3: It's amazing.
[20:30] Speaker 2: Five sacks by one guy, not even a whole team.
[20:32] Speaker 3: Yeah. Five sacks....
[20:35] Speaker 1: I want to throw something here about the Seahawks. So
[20:37] Speaker 1: Sam Darnold suffered a hip injury. There was a concern
[20:41] Speaker 1: during the game that it was broken. It seems that
[20:43] Speaker 1: it is not broken. Maybe it's a torn labrum.
[20:46] Speaker 3: I don't know.
[20:46] Speaker 1: But basically, it doesn't necessarily mean out for the season,
[20:50] Speaker 1: but I do think it probably means out for a
[20:52] Speaker 1: long time. I can't remember where I saw this raised,
[20:57] Speaker 1: but I immediately saw people raising the question as to
[21:01] Speaker 1: whether or not The Seahawks, what quarterback should they go
[21:04] Speaker 1: out there and get? Because they have lost their starting quarterback.
[21:07] Speaker 1: So I saw you throwing out there, maybe they should
[21:09] Speaker 1: go get Kirk Cousins. And brother, I don't know about you,
[21:13] Speaker 1: but if I was able to win a Super Bowl
[21:15] Speaker 1: with Sam Darnold, I'd just do this Drew Locke thing. Shit,
[21:18] Speaker 1: we actually might not have to play Sam Darnold again.
[21:22] Speaker 3: And what makes you think that they're going to be
[21:23] Speaker 3: able to get Cousins? They seem committed to Kirk Cousins
[21:27] Speaker 3: being there the whole year. Would you have to give
[21:28] Speaker 3: up to get somebody like that? That's the thing with
[21:31] Speaker 3: Most positions, honestly, is at this point, ain't nobody available
[21:34] Speaker 3: that you want.
[21:35] Speaker 1: It's going to cost you. There's no, like, who was that? Philadelphia,
[21:39] Speaker 1: when they traded for Sam Bradford that time, right? There's
[21:43] Speaker 1: no just quarterback out here that somebody's just going to
[21:46] Speaker 1: be willing to punk the season and give them up,
[21:48] Speaker 1: I don't think, at this point.
[21:49] Speaker 2: I mean, if you can name it, let me know.
[21:51] Speaker 2: But I can't think of who that player is.
[21:53] Speaker 3: Especially not better than Drew Locke. Like, I mean... If
[21:57] Speaker 3: you're looking for somebody who has, like, the pedigree, like, yeah,
[22:01] Speaker 3: Drew Locke, somebody who's, at some point, people thought he
[22:04] Speaker 3: was rapping Jeezy and people thought he was going to
[22:07] Speaker 3: be their quarterback. And it was Denver, right, where they
[22:09] Speaker 3: thought he was going to be the quarterback of the future. Like,
[22:10] Speaker 3: I don't know, unless you're going to try to pull
[22:12] Speaker 3: somebody out of retirement, which I rewatched that game. The
[22:17] Speaker 3: Philip Rivers one. Them boys in the secondary did not
[22:20] Speaker 3: respect him in the least. They were sitting at five
[22:24] Speaker 3: yards just waiting. Like, go ahead, throw that thing up
[22:27] Speaker 3: past 10. It was outrageous. So yeah, there's nobody else
[22:30] Speaker 3: out there.
[22:31] Speaker 1: But also I think, and the reason that I find
[22:33] Speaker 1: this to be interesting, Drew Locke becoming a good quarterback
[22:38] Speaker 1: is on the board. And if you need an example
[22:40] Speaker 1: of the fact that it could happen, Sam Bradford, who
[22:44] Speaker 1: I still don't think is as good as people are
[22:46] Speaker 1: trying to tell me he is, but I think that
[22:48] Speaker 1: actually emboldens the point that I'm trying to make here.
[22:52] Speaker 1: that the growth arc of a quarterback or the development
[22:56] Speaker 1: arc of a quarterback is actually very long, right? These
[23:01] Speaker 1: aren't running backs. Running backs are like power pitchers in baseball.
[23:03] Speaker 1: You're probably going to be as good as you are.
[23:05] Speaker 1: Day one is probably as good as you're ever going
[23:07] Speaker 1: to be, right? We watch Matthew Stafford have an inexplicable
[23:11] Speaker 1: 17-year growth arc where he just keeps getting better, keeps
[23:15] Speaker 1: getting better, keeps getting better. Sam Darnold, this is year
[23:18] Speaker 1: nine for him. It took him until year seven to
[23:22] Speaker 1: be a passable NFL quarterback. And he was fortunate enough
[23:25] Speaker 1: that people kept putting them in places where maybe this
[23:28] Speaker 1: thing could happen for him. Geno Smith, we saw what
[23:31] Speaker 1: happened after we had completely given up on him. And
[23:33] Speaker 1: I mean, he still gets treated like he never turned good,
[23:36] Speaker 1: but he became at points, even a very good quarterback.
[23:40] Speaker 1: Drew Locke might be just fine, again, for a team
[23:44] Speaker 1: that don't really seem to need very much out of them,
[23:47] Speaker 1: which is amazing considering how few people on that team
[23:51] Speaker 1: whose names I know.
[23:53] Speaker 2: It's like six or seven of them, maybe.
[23:56] Speaker 3: Yeah. When you have the support that they have and
[24:00] Speaker 3: you're asking very little, like if you can hold the
[24:04] Speaker 3: team to 10 points, yeah. There's a lot of people
[24:08] Speaker 3: that can play quarterback in that situation. and get turnovers
[24:12] Speaker 3: in the red zone and give him a short field
[24:13] Speaker 3: on interceptions like that, you're not asking a whole bunch.
[24:16] Speaker 3: And speaking of running backs being good early, like Darion
[24:19] Speaker 3: Price looks like he's going to be really good for
[24:21] Speaker 3: that team running the ball. You're not asking a whole bunch.
[24:24] Speaker 3: And like his touchdown pass, it was a short curl
[24:28] Speaker 3: to JSN, and he took it to the crib. So, like,
[24:31] Speaker 3: not that Drew Locke didn't make any great throws. Like,
[24:33] Speaker 3: he made a couple really good throws, like two, literally
[24:36] Speaker 3: a couple really good throws. But so much support that
[24:40] Speaker 3: I think he can, he's serviceable and he's a veteran
[24:42] Speaker 3: guy who's been around this. The reason why you have
[24:44] Speaker 3: a backup quarterback, he can hold you down for three weeks.
[24:48] Speaker 1: Jackson Smith and Jigba, I say this all the time.
[24:51] Speaker 2: I saw, did you watch.
[24:53] Speaker 1: That year in the Rose Bowl with him and CJ
[24:55] Speaker 1: Stroud where he caught like 800 yards worth of passes?
[24:59] Speaker 3: Absolutely.
[25:00] Speaker 1: My impression of both of the boys have been skewed forever.
[25:04] Speaker 2: Because that was the first.
[25:05] Speaker 1: And then the next time I feel like I really
[25:07] Speaker 1: watched C.J. Stroud play was the next year in the
[25:09] Speaker 1: playoff where he was unreal against Georgia.
[25:13] Speaker 3: And Georgia's NFL defense, they were at that point. Like literally,
[25:16] Speaker 3: they had like four first rounders on that defense at
[25:19] Speaker 3: the time. Yeah, he was killing it.
[25:21] Speaker 1: Hey, man, Seattle out here. I think we talked about this.
[25:25] Speaker 1: It's very rare that a defending Super Bowl champion could
[25:29] Speaker 1: run the they don't believe in us card. But I
[25:32] Speaker 1: have never seen a team that dominated on its way
[25:35] Speaker 1: to winning that Super Bowl, by the way. be predicted
[25:38] Speaker 1: to be a wildcard team in quite the fashion that
[25:41] Speaker 1: the Seattle Seahawks have been predicted that.
[25:43] Speaker 2: They will be a wildcard team.
[25:44] Speaker 1: And by the way, it's a fair thing for people
[25:47] Speaker 1: to guess because the Rams got Miles Garrett and they're
[25:49] Speaker 1: bringing Aaron Donald out of mouth balls. Totally get you.
[25:53] Speaker 1: At the same time, if you're Seattle, you got to
[25:55] Speaker 1: be like, bro, what are.
[25:55] Speaker 3: You talking about? Yeah, I was going to say that,
[25:59] Speaker 3: that like, yeah, it's crazy. And if you are the Seahawks, yeah,
[26:03] Speaker 3: it feels incredibly disrespectful. But you know, who is looking
[26:08] Speaker 3: at this situation, not feeling like it's crazy. It's that
[26:11] Speaker 3: Seattle offensive line. They looking up like, they not out
[26:17] Speaker 3: here talking about nobody. We deserve more respect. They like,
[26:21] Speaker 3: this is going to be a goddamn problem. If Aaron
[26:24] Speaker 3: Donald pops up. So, like, they know. The thing is,
[26:27] Speaker 3: they doing that nobody believes in us stuff. But, like,
[26:29] Speaker 3: this is a unique situation. I'm not saying that it
[26:32] Speaker 3: is going to work. But, like, nobody is just being
[26:35] Speaker 3: jerks by not believing in them. They're just being logical.
[26:39] Speaker 2: They're right. All I'm saying is this.
[26:41] Speaker 1: I don't know if any defending Super Bowl champion is
[26:43] Speaker 1: going to be more locked in game after game after
[26:45] Speaker 1: game than that one right there.
[26:50] Speaker 3: I'm looking forward to when they play each other, man.
[26:52] Speaker 3: That's going to be fun. I don't even know when
[26:53] Speaker 3: it is on the calendar, but that is going to
[26:56] Speaker 3: be fun. And I don't think the Rams care nearly
[26:58] Speaker 3: as much, excuse me, about this regular season as the
[27:01] Speaker 3: rest of us do. We want to see it, but
[27:03] Speaker 3: I think they walking into this first game kind of like, eh.
[27:06] Speaker 3: We'll see. Show up. Kick it off. See what happens.
[27:10] Speaker 1: Well, coming up next, we'll talk a little bit about
[27:11] Speaker 1: that Rams 49ers game. And we got a pretty good
[27:16] Speaker 1: week one slate. We'll talk about this here on the
[27:18] Speaker 1: right time. Football is finally back and PrizePix is bringing

[28:49] Speaker 1: are back with Dominique Foxworth. And in Australia, we talked
[28:53] Speaker 1: about this, the 49ers. are going to play against the Rams.
[28:57] Speaker 1: And as we talk about, you never know who's going
[28:58] Speaker 1: to be left standing at the end of the year.
[29:00] Speaker 1: We do know what team will probably have the highest
[29:03] Speaker 1: percentage of people not standing at the end of the year,
[29:06] Speaker 1: and that's the hurt-ass 49ers. I don't know if they'd
[29:09] Speaker 1: be doing it to themselves in practice everywhere else, and
[29:11] Speaker 1: now they get to go start off against Myles Garrett
[29:14] Speaker 1: and them. I guess it's going to be, well, at
[29:15] Speaker 1: least they got Trent Williams, right? We're going to find out.
[29:18] Speaker 1: Every year we just keep assuming Trent Williams is going
[29:20] Speaker 1: to be the same, but we're going to find out.
[29:23] Speaker 3: I mean, to be fair, don't tell him I said this,
[29:25] Speaker 3: but he started slipping a little bit last year. I
[29:28] Speaker 3: don't want to upset him. He seems like the type
[29:30] Speaker 3: that don't take kindly to disrespect. I don't mean as disrespect,
[29:34] Speaker 3: but he wasn't Hall of Fame Trent Williams last year
[29:37] Speaker 3: in the way that he's been in the past. So
[29:39] Speaker 3: he's still integral to the offense. He's still better than
[29:41] Speaker 3: most tackles, but he gave up some pressures, which is
[29:45] Speaker 3: something that he normally doesn't do. So if he's a
[29:48] Speaker 3: little diminished and everybody else on that team is hurt,
[29:51] Speaker 3: Kittle coming back from injuries in record time, that can't
[29:54] Speaker 3: be something that you count on.
[29:56] Speaker 1: At that age.
[29:57] Speaker 3: Yeah, at that age. That can't be something you count
[29:58] Speaker 3: on either. stopped being able to run the ball last year, too,
[30:01] Speaker 3: which is crazy. Like, if you put all that together,
[30:04] Speaker 3: they damn near, they came down to one game away
[30:06] Speaker 3: from winning the division, and their whole defense was hurt.
[30:09] Speaker 3: They couldn't stop the run, and they also couldn't run
[30:11] Speaker 3: the ball. It's like, it's a riddle that I don't
[30:13] Speaker 3: know how you solve.
[30:15] Speaker 1: Hey, man, George Kittle is at this age. I'm in
[30:18] Speaker 1: the best shape of my life.
[30:21] Speaker 3: Uh-oh. Uh-oh.
[30:22] Speaker 2: Bad news. Bad, bad news. He's at that place.
[30:27] Speaker 3: No, that.
[30:28] Speaker 1: Especially considering that they've decided to do this with the
[30:33] Speaker 1: marginally talented quarterback, right? Like regardless of how good you
[30:36] Speaker 1: think Purdy is, marginally talented.
[30:41] Speaker 3: Yuck.
[30:41] Speaker 1: In a division, by the way, where you can finish
[30:45] Speaker 1: third and feel pretty good going into the playoffs because
[30:47] Speaker 1: of the other teams that you're going to have to
[30:49] Speaker 1: deal with. Their season, especially after all the wild shit
[30:52] Speaker 1: that's happening, right? Your owner is a sex fiend.
[30:57] Speaker 2: You got people out here pretending to play for y'all.
[31:00] Speaker 3: Um... Yeah, yeah.
[31:03] Speaker 1: It's so funny how we add that guy, y'all, to
[31:05] Speaker 1: the 49ers stuff. Oh, forgot about Kyle Shanahan and the
[31:09] Speaker 1: shenanigans they tried to run with the accident.
[31:13] Speaker 3: That's their best player. It seems like Kyle Shanahan, their
[31:18] Speaker 3: most impactful player. I hope that his brain wasn't shaking
[31:21] Speaker 3: up too much because he's the reason why they can
[31:23] Speaker 3: still maintain some level of competitiveness. And we'll see, like,
[31:27] Speaker 3: the defense... is healthier now than it was last year,
[31:30] Speaker 3: but it's older too. Like both say the same coming
[31:34] Speaker 3: off injury and they same thing with Warner. Like he's
[31:36] Speaker 3: getting up there and he's coming back from injury. They're
[31:38] Speaker 3: relying on a lot of old guys to make this
[31:40] Speaker 3: defense work. Yeah, buddy.
[31:43] Speaker 1: And you know, Shanahan is so interesting because I think
[31:46] Speaker 1: we all agree, obviously very good at his job, but
[31:51] Speaker 1: in that interesting way where we would not say he's
[31:54] Speaker 1: flawless at his job, right? There are things that come up, but,
[31:58] Speaker 1: They are the clear number three team in that division
[32:00] Speaker 1: right now.
[32:02] Speaker 2: And it could be like that for a while.
[32:05] Speaker 3: He is very good at, like he's very good at
[32:09] Speaker 3: specific parts of his job. It's like, sometimes we just
[32:12] Speaker 3: throw out that like this coach is a good coach.
[32:15] Speaker 3: It just like blanket thing, but you can isolate the
[32:19] Speaker 3: way that he's good in producing offense. He's very good
[32:21] Speaker 3: at that. And I think that overcomes some of the
[32:23] Speaker 3: other like in-game decision-making issues that he's had is, this
[32:27] Speaker 3: team is going to be ready for just about every game.
[32:30] Speaker 3: But I don't know. Last year with that, what the
[32:33] Speaker 3: Rams did to them defensively, the second time that they played,
[32:36] Speaker 3: I think they scored on all but like two of
[32:38] Speaker 3: the drives. That's the bigger question to me is do
[32:41] Speaker 3: they have the firepower? Oh, yeah, you left out Pearsall's
[32:44] Speaker 3: injured too. Do they have the firepower?
[32:45] Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought he might have been, but I couldn't remember.
[32:48] Speaker 1: I feel like he always hurts, so I feel like
[32:49] Speaker 1: I might have been reaching.
[32:51] Speaker 3: Well, he didn't get shot this time. That was there.
[32:53] Speaker 3: That was a wild way. To start your career. You
[32:56] Speaker 3: can't blame that on the substation or whatever's out there.
[32:59] Speaker 2: Well, especially because it was B-Rad. You know what I'm saying?
[33:03] Speaker 1: Like, immediately it raised questions about, man, how far was
[33:06] Speaker 1: you trying to take this?
[33:10] Speaker 2: How far was you going?
[33:11] Speaker 3: Oh, man. Just get that man to watch, please. Give
[33:14] Speaker 3: him the watch.
[33:15] Speaker 1: Yeah, but it was totally on the board.
[33:17] Speaker 2: Who you think you messing with, fool?
[33:22] Speaker 3: This team is going to be I don't know. I mean,
[33:25] Speaker 3: I think they're going to be third in the division.
[33:27] Speaker 3: But I can't say that I wouldn't be surprised. I
[33:30] Speaker 3: still would be surprised if they, like, overcome. But any
[33:33] Speaker 3: other team or any other coach with this team, I
[33:36] Speaker 3: think we're looking at a real high draft pick. They
[33:39] Speaker 3: have a chance to, like, be mediocre to me. And
[33:41] Speaker 3: they even have a chance of winning this first game
[33:43] Speaker 3: against the Rams. But I don't think it's going to
[33:45] Speaker 3: hold up.
[33:46] Speaker 1: Well, also for me, another thing I always wonder, like,
[33:49] Speaker 1: when it comes to Kyle is, he has a defensive coordinator,
[33:53] Speaker 1: but Kyle Shanahan is the head coach of the defense.
[33:55] Speaker 1: Like he's a Tom Landry sort of figure where he is.
[33:58] Speaker 1: His coordinator's job is to run his offense. Like he's
[34:00] Speaker 1: the offensive mastermind and the defensive mastermind. And I feel
[34:03] Speaker 1: like you might be doing too much, brother.
[34:06] Speaker 3: I mean, they have, I know Mike is around there
[34:09] Speaker 3: a lot. I assume he is. He was the last
[34:11] Speaker 3: few years. I assume he's still around there a lot,
[34:13] Speaker 3: helping to influence the way that they prepare for these games. But,
[34:17] Speaker 3: They started last year to change their defense more than
[34:20] Speaker 3: they have in the past because they normally run pretty
[34:22] Speaker 3: static stuff. But because of the injuries, they were in
[34:25] Speaker 3: so much trouble, they had to get more complicated. And
[34:28] Speaker 3: they bring in Raheem, I think, is the coach now,
[34:31] Speaker 3: and he's going to run Sims. I assume that he's
[34:33] Speaker 3: going to run simulated pressure. They're going to modernize the defense.
[34:35] Speaker 3: They're going to have to. And that, I think, will
[34:37] Speaker 3: go a long way to see how good they can
[34:39] Speaker 3: be as a team because injuries are going to pile up,
[34:42] Speaker 3: as they always do.
[34:44] Speaker 1: Hey, man, moving on to the rest of the week one.
[34:49] Speaker 2: I mean, C.J. Stroud, Josh Allen, Buffalo, Houston. Lucky for C.J.
[34:55] Speaker 1: Stroud, that's a one o'clock kick. Maybe it would be
[34:57] Speaker 1: good for C.J. Stroud if it was a four o'clock kick.
[34:59] Speaker 1: If you think he's going to be able to make
[35:01] Speaker 1: something happen, because there's some reason to have questions about
[35:03] Speaker 1: that Buffalo defense that's in transition. When you go nine
[35:05] Speaker 1: years from a defensive head coach to trying to scheme.
[35:08] Speaker 1: with Jim Leonard that is not the same. And we're
[35:11] Speaker 1: not sure if they have the bodies to run the
[35:13] Speaker 1: scheme that they've got in the year where all my
[35:17] Speaker 1: white friends, except for Nick, keep trying to tell me,
[35:20] Speaker 1: I think we're going.
[35:20] Speaker 2: To get it for Josh. I think it might finally happen.
[35:23] Speaker 2: Aren't you excited?
[35:26] Speaker 3: I don't see it this year for Josh, but you know,
[35:28] Speaker 3: I mean, I didn't see it last year for the
[35:30] Speaker 3: Seahawks either. So anything could happen. But like your point
[35:33] Speaker 3: about the defense is a huge one. And this is
[35:35] Speaker 3: as bad as it can get for a place for
[35:37] Speaker 3: the Bills to start because the Texans actually give Josh
[35:41] Speaker 3: Allen hell. They went and got DJ Moore to help
[35:45] Speaker 3: because the Texans just play man coverage. They don't respect
[35:48] Speaker 3: anybody and then get after Josh all game long. And
[35:51] Speaker 3: he'll get some scrambles, but it's not enough to get
[35:53] Speaker 3: it done. So this is a tough place for them
[35:56] Speaker 3: to start. And to your point, the defensive switch, I
[36:00] Speaker 3: don't make a big deal about switching from 4-3 to
[36:02] Speaker 3: 3-4 normally, but if your problem is In the 4-3,
[36:05] Speaker 3: you can't stop the run. You're going to switch over
[36:08] Speaker 3: to the 3-4, and you got 4-3 bodies. And it's
[36:11] Speaker 3: going to be tough. So we'll see what Jim Leonard
[36:14] Speaker 3: can do with his motion or movement up front, stunts
[36:17] Speaker 3: and whatever. But I don't know. This is a good place, though,
[36:21] Speaker 3: because the Texans can't run the ball either. So we'll see.
[36:24] Speaker 1: I saw you and Kravitz and Ben Solak, who I
[36:28] Speaker 1: got to be honest with you, man. I don't think
[36:31] Speaker 1: I had heard Ben Solak's voice before. I had just
[36:34] Speaker 1: seen him looking like he's 14. And then I heard
[36:37] Speaker 1: him talking like a grown man. I thought that shit
[36:39] Speaker 1: was AI, bro. I didn't think that it was possible.
[36:44] Speaker 1: That was, you know.
[36:47] Speaker 3: Was that Geico? We had to look like Talking Babies commercial. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[36:52] Speaker 1: It was in that zone. But the point you guys
[36:55] Speaker 1: made about the Houston, Texas defense was funny. that people
[36:58] Speaker 1: try to make the argument that, you know, the Texas
[37:00] Speaker 1: dude was complex.
[37:01] Speaker 2: No, it's not like they like old Miami.
[37:05] Speaker 1: We got, I mean, by Miami, I mean hurricanes. How
[37:09] Speaker 1: about we rush four, drop seven, and hit people hard?
[37:13] Speaker 2: What you think, guys?
[37:14] Speaker 3: You think we could do it? What you think? It is,
[37:17] Speaker 3: that is it. And they've gotten bigger and better through
[37:20] Speaker 3: the draft and through free agency. Like, it's... They had
[37:24] Speaker 3: no weaknesses last year, and somehow they've gotten a little
[37:27] Speaker 3: bit better. So, yeah, it's nothing too complicated. I think
[37:31] Speaker 3: you want to give, especially if they have a defensive-minded
[37:33] Speaker 3: head coach, you want to be like, oh, he's scheming
[37:35] Speaker 3: the shit out of stuff. Like, nah, it's motivation. It's
[37:39] Speaker 3: motivation and violence is what they're doing out there. We
[37:43] Speaker 3: must protect our house no matter where we are at
[37:45] Speaker 3: all times. Amen.
[37:48] Speaker 1: I don't think we give D'Amico nearly enough credit because
[37:50] Speaker 1: we have forgotten how bad, as a franchise, They were.
[37:54] Speaker 1: And they probably only could hire D'Amico because D'Amico played
[37:58] Speaker 1: for them and got a wife from Houston. But otherwise,
[38:01] Speaker 1: remember when they was just hiring any black dude they
[38:03] Speaker 1: could get to take the job because only a black
[38:04] Speaker 1: man would take that job?
[38:06] Speaker 3: I do remember very clearly when they put David Cully
[38:09] Speaker 3: in there for.
[38:10] Speaker 2: That suicide mission.
[38:13] Speaker 1: And then Lovey, like, they was... Honestly, I'm afraid to
[38:17] Speaker 1: say who I thought they also might hire, because I
[38:19] Speaker 1: think that person might be... No, he's still here. Surprised
[38:22] Speaker 1: they ain't gonna get Romeo Cornell again.
[38:24] Speaker 3: My fault.
[38:24] Speaker 2: I forgot they had already did that.
[38:26] Speaker 3: Yeah, I know.
[38:27] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[38:27] Speaker 3: For whatever reason, I thought you was gonna say Hugh Jackson.
[38:30] Speaker 2: Like, that's No, no, I think that's the bridge too far.
[38:32] Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why when you said you had to start Googling,
[38:35] Speaker 3: I was like, oh, okay.
[38:35] Speaker 2: No, no, no, I had to Google to make sure
[38:37] Speaker 2: Romeo wasn't dead.
[38:39] Speaker 1: With Hugh Jackson, the problem is Hugh Jackson got too
[38:42] Speaker 1: much ego. They needed a black man that was just
[38:45] Speaker 1: happy to get a job.
[38:47] Speaker 3: They are happy that this black man has the job, man,
[38:49] Speaker 3: because this team has been really, really impressive. And they
[38:53] Speaker 3: made us all look dumb. when we all were like,
[38:56] Speaker 3: why are you moving up in the draft? I've been
[38:59] Speaker 3: saying that Will Edison move.
[39:01] Speaker 1: Because, you know, the reason was we thought they were
[39:03] Speaker 1: going to be terrible.
[39:04] Speaker 3: Yeah. Right?
[39:05] Speaker 1: Like, we thought they were trading away a top three
[39:08] Speaker 1: pick when they did that. And instead, they made the playoffs.
[39:13] Speaker 3: And he's been... Amazing. Right.
[39:16] Speaker 2: Because that wasn't a guarantee either.
[39:19] Speaker 3: Oh, of course not. Like people were saying that he's good,
[39:21] Speaker 3: but like he's like solid was like the projection. He's
[39:25] Speaker 3: like solid with maybe some upside he walked in the
[39:28] Speaker 3: league and was like nah I'm one of the best
[39:32] Speaker 3: it's just that plain and simple and then Daniel Hunter
[39:35] Speaker 3: is probably a better pass rusher than he is technically but.
[39:40] Speaker 1: They got another local they got the local connection comes
[39:44] Speaker 1: through again that's.
[39:46] Speaker 3: One of those things where and I feel like I've
[39:49] Speaker 3: I've managed to like stop forgetting it. But when you
[39:53] Speaker 3: do this, like every day you analyze football, I think
[39:56] Speaker 3: you look more and more for deeper analysis and more interesting, intricate,
[40:03] Speaker 3: fun scheme stuff to like expose to people. But you
[40:06] Speaker 3: have to remember that the only reason why anybody does
[40:11] Speaker 3: any of that shit is because they can't whoop the
[40:15] Speaker 3: man in front of them. That's where it starts. If
[40:20] Speaker 3: you can consistently whoop the man in front of you,
[40:22] Speaker 3: you ain't got to do nothing but roll a ball
[40:25] Speaker 3: out there. And that's what they doing. Like, I'm not
[40:27] Speaker 3: saying that they're not prepared. Like, they're smart. They do
[40:30] Speaker 3: have some change-ups here and there. But, like, one of
[40:33] Speaker 3: the hallmarks of these modern defenses, and if you watch
[40:35] Speaker 3: the Seahawks, it's like the safeties are going everywhere. It's
[40:38] Speaker 3: so hard to pick out what they're doing. Pre-snap, everybody's disguising,
[40:41] Speaker 3: and it's so confusing. Like, nah, they line up single
[40:45] Speaker 3: high almost every time. It's either going to be one
[40:47] Speaker 3: or three. We might blitz on third down, but we
[40:50] Speaker 3: all going to whoop your ass.
[40:53] Speaker 2: Rush four. Drop seven.
[40:58] Speaker 1: We ain't got to put on all this makeup.
[41:01] Speaker 2: We ain't got to do all.
[41:02] Speaker 3: No, no, no.
[41:03] Speaker 1: We stacked. We got it like that. Pass me them
[41:06] Speaker 1: yoga pads. That's all I need. Shit, in fact, I
[41:13] Speaker 1: don't even need that. Bob jeans, watch. You're going to
[41:17] Speaker 1: see it like that, too. God damn, it don't matter
[41:19] Speaker 1: what they put on.
[41:21] Speaker 3: And then, I don't want to further this analogy because
[41:24] Speaker 3: and then, they get nasty, too. So nasty. They are
[41:30] Speaker 3: trying to hurt people.
[41:32] Speaker 2: They got an energy about them.
[41:36] Speaker 3: Yes.
[41:36] Speaker 1: Energy.
[41:37] Speaker 3: We're going to get that fine. That's fine. We'll pay it.
[41:42] Speaker 3: You remember, wasn't that them who hit Trevor Lawrence late
[41:46] Speaker 3: as hell? Yeah, we'll pay it.
[41:50] Speaker 1: And what was they do with the Arabic name that
[41:53] Speaker 1: put that shoulder on Mahomes that time?
[41:55] Speaker 3: Alshair, right?
[41:56] Speaker 2: Yeah, Alshair, that's right.
[41:58] Speaker 3: He was suspended for like three weeks apologizing. Yes.
[42:02] Speaker 1: I mix him up with the big swole one that
[42:05] Speaker 1: the 49ers got that Mahomes took down.
[42:07] Speaker 3: Mustafa? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He ran through him.
[42:11] Speaker 1: Hey man, that boy, that's a fruity Islam motherfucker right there.
[42:14] Speaker 1: Like that cat right there, he is ready. If it
[42:18] Speaker 1: comes down to the fight, we need to try to,
[42:21] Speaker 1: I don't know who we is, but somebody might need
[42:23] Speaker 1: to try to convert him. Because Allah got a soldier
[42:28] Speaker 1: in that one right there.
[42:30] Speaker 3: I've been on defenses with that nasty edge. And I'll
[42:33] Speaker 3: have you know, we're upset about the penalty. We're upset
[42:37] Speaker 3: about the money. There's a lot of daps. There's a
[42:41] Speaker 3: lot of daps in the locker room.
[42:42] Speaker 1: I thought you were referring to your college defense when
[42:45] Speaker 1: you said that as you went to college with the
[42:47] Speaker 1: maniac named Sean Merriman.
[42:49] Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I've told you a couple of
[42:56] Speaker 3: Sean stories.
[42:58] Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
[42:59] Speaker 3: That guy, he was really good at football. Really explosive.
[43:04] Speaker 3: And sometimes he would do football at the wrong time. As, yeah.
[43:08] Speaker 3: Who was that that made that joke? That was a
[43:11] Speaker 3: good one.
[43:13] Speaker 2: Football at the wrong time.
[43:14] Speaker 3: It was Neil Brennan, I think. That's right. That's right.
[43:17] Speaker 1: He did say that about sometimes they would do football
[43:19] Speaker 1: at the wrong time.
[43:21] Speaker 3: I've witnessed that before. It's like, yeah. It stinks to
[43:24] Speaker 3: do football at the wrong time. But those guys also.
[43:28] Speaker 3: They do football all the time. Yeah. And they do
[43:31] Speaker 3: it better than most.
[43:32] Speaker 1: It's a lifestyle. It's not simply a vocation, right? It's
[43:37] Speaker 1: an ethos.
[43:38] Speaker 3: Yeah, if you do what you love, you're going to
[43:41] Speaker 3: have to work a day in your life.
[43:42] Speaker 1: There you go.
[43:43] Speaker 3: There you go.
[43:44] Speaker 1: So I got a couple games, like three other games
[43:47] Speaker 1: to get to this week. It ain't going to take
[43:48] Speaker 1: too much time, but I do think they are interesting.
[43:52] Speaker 1: one of them is Tampa and Cincinnati and another is
[43:55] Speaker 1: Green Bay and Minnesota. And I feel like those two
[43:57] Speaker 1: games are low key hot seat bowls. Like I feel
[44:01] Speaker 1: like out of those four teams, at least two of
[44:04] Speaker 1: them will have new coaches next year, if not three.
[44:08] Speaker 3: It's possible. I'm really high on Tampa this year. They
[44:11] Speaker 3: have one of the best O-lines in football. I actually
[44:13] Speaker 3: think that if the success of their season is dependent
[44:18] Speaker 3: on how how well they do. Like, I feel confident
[44:21] Speaker 3: that they're going to do pretty well. They paid Mayfield.
[44:25] Speaker 3: And I do think that speaking of these special guys
[44:29] Speaker 3: on defense, I think Ruben Vane is one of those guys.
[44:31] Speaker 3: And then I, Keontae Scott from Miami too, who's not
[44:33] Speaker 3: a big name guy, but makes a bunch of plays
[44:36] Speaker 3: to add to that defense. That defensive line is something special.
[44:38] Speaker 3: I think that defense.
[44:39] Speaker 1: And they got the, they got the fake Aaron Donald, right?
[44:43] Speaker 3: Oh yeah. Yeah. You're talking about.
[44:46] Speaker 2: Yancey. Kalijah Yancey.
[44:48] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[44:49] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[44:49] Speaker 1: And for those who don't know, he's a short little
[44:52] Speaker 1: fire plug who went to Pitt.
[44:54] Speaker 3: Yep.
[44:54] Speaker 2: He's literally a fake Aaron Donald.
[44:57] Speaker 3: And next to him, they got Vita Vea, who is
[44:59] Speaker 3: the opposite.
[45:00] Speaker 1: Yes. Enormous.
[45:01] Speaker 3: And, like, you think he's a run stuffer because he's
[45:03] Speaker 3: built like the old run stuffers, but he's a great
[45:05] Speaker 3: pass rusher also, and Diaby can rush the pass. I
[45:08] Speaker 3: think that's going to be enough to make this defense
[45:10] Speaker 3: really something, and they got a great O-line, so I
[45:12] Speaker 3: think they're going to be good. But the Bengals, excuse me,
[45:17] Speaker 3: the Bengals, yeah, that's, Zach Taylor might not make it
[45:21] Speaker 3: through the season if things don't start off well.
[45:23] Speaker 2: Oh, no, don't you worry. He'll make it through the season.
[45:27] Speaker 3: Oh, that's right. Yeah, that's fair.
[45:28] Speaker 1: As long as he's getting paid to coach 17 games,
[45:32] Speaker 1: he will coach 17.
[45:35] Speaker 3: It's not even that they will keep him. It's that
[45:37] Speaker 3: they don't want to get nobody no bump. No. Can't
[45:39] Speaker 3: make me the head coach without giving me a bump. Yeah,
[45:43] Speaker 3: he'll make it. So, yeah, you're right. He won't be
[45:45] Speaker 3: fired midseason because they're not going to let nobody off easy.
[45:48] Speaker 3: And I think in Green Bay, they got some built-in excuses.
[45:50] Speaker 3: I'm not sure if they're going to accept them, but
[45:52] Speaker 3: they got some built-in excuses with the injuries and the
[45:58] Speaker 3: commissioner exempt list for that running back and injuries on
[46:01] Speaker 3: the defense and injuries on the whole line. I think
[46:03] Speaker 3: they have some built-in excuses, but sometimes that does not
[46:06] Speaker 3: matter at all. And I also think Vikings are safe.
[46:09] Speaker 3: I think they blame a lot of that stuff on,
[46:11] Speaker 3: Of course, the Adolfo Mensah, the roster that he put together,
[46:14] Speaker 3: I think they believe KOC is one of these offensive
[46:17] Speaker 3: guru coaches that was being hampered by a Wall Street
[46:21] Speaker 3: guy who ain't no ball. This is not me speaking.
[46:24] Speaker 3: This is what I believe they think.
[46:25] Speaker 1: Yeah, but I was under the impression that the roster
[46:30] Speaker 1: was the coaches and the staff.
[46:33] Speaker 3: Was the GMs.
[46:36] Speaker 1: Like, how the blame or whatever gets doled out is
[46:39] Speaker 1: going to be interesting. And we know, speaking of complex,
[46:41] Speaker 1: Brian Flores, forever defense head coach, is going to be
[46:45] Speaker 1: out there just throwing things at people.
[46:47] Speaker 3: Somebody's going to hire him, man. It's going to happen
[46:50] Speaker 3: one of these days. No, it's not. No, it's not.
[46:53] Speaker 1: It's not going to happen, and I wouldn't hire him either.
[46:57] Speaker 3: He was so good. Like, he's been... The further he's
[47:01] Speaker 3: gotten away from the Dolphins, the more I appreciate how
[47:04] Speaker 3: well he– like, you remember I was coming out saying
[47:07] Speaker 3: this team was tanking. They ended up winning nine games.
[47:10] Speaker 3: They did. They did. He was an awesome coach, and
[47:12] Speaker 3: he said, you know what? This Tua guy ain't it.
[47:15] Speaker 3: And then McDonnell or McDaniel came in there, and we
[47:19] Speaker 3: was like, oh, Tua good. And then we was like,
[47:22] Speaker 3: maybe not. Maybe Tyreek Hill is awesome. Maybe that's what happened. Yeah.
[47:26] Speaker 1: Some people are– and you're the one who says this
[47:29] Speaker 1: as much as anybody else. Some people just.
[47:32] Speaker 2: Need to be coordinated.
[47:32] Speaker 1: That's true. Right? Like there are other parts of being
[47:36] Speaker 1: a head coach that Brian Flores struggles with, and that
[47:39] Speaker 1: is people stuff. His soft game is not– his soft
[47:44] Speaker 1: game is insufficient.
[47:47] Speaker 2: On a number of levels. His soft game just ain't
[47:51] Speaker 2: up to snuff.
[47:52] Speaker 3: That's funny because that's like he blitzes like twice as
[47:56] Speaker 3: much as anybody in football. And it's like, man, do
[47:59] Speaker 3: football all the time. Yeah, that's it, that's it. Like, yeah. Oh,
[48:02] Speaker 3: you want to have a conversation? I'm sitting in heat.
[48:05] Speaker 3: In this conversation, we sitting in heat. We max pressuring
[48:08] Speaker 3: right now.
[48:09] Speaker 2: That's all he know.
[48:09] Speaker 1: Now, the last game we got here, boy, we're talking
[48:12] Speaker 1: about here, Sunday night, we got the Giants and the
[48:15] Speaker 1: Cowboys and my good buddy, Danny Parkins. Parko got on TV,
[48:24] Speaker 1: and I'll say this, he made a fairly compelling case
[48:26] Speaker 1: for it. He picked the Giants to win that entire division.
[48:35] Speaker 3: Malik Nabors?
[48:38] Speaker 1: He had, you know, Danny's a stat guy, so he
[48:41] Speaker 1: had some stats that made the point, but I....
[48:49] Speaker 2: I thought that sounded like drugs.
[48:52] Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, they got some really impressive guys on
[48:56] Speaker 3: the defense. I mean, they got rid of Dexter Lawrence,
[48:58] Speaker 3: but even without him, their front is still really impressive.
[49:00] Speaker 2: They should be bringing heat, right?
[49:01] Speaker 1: Like, they got Abdul Carter, Brian Burns, and which Ohio
[49:06] Speaker 1: State guy did they get?
[49:07] Speaker 4: Reese?
[49:07] Speaker 3: Yeah, Reese got him, and they played him off-ball, but
[49:11] Speaker 3: he's a hell of a pass rusher, too. I'm sure
[49:13] Speaker 3: they'll blitz him a bunch. That should be it. The
[49:15] Speaker 3: question is, is that going to be enough to compensate
[49:17] Speaker 3: for the other shortcomings that they have in the secondary?
[49:20] Speaker 3: We'll see. Jackson Dart had a good rookie year, but
[49:25] Speaker 3: you go back and look at it, it's a lot
[49:26] Speaker 3: of on the ground running the ball type stuff. We'll
[49:30] Speaker 3: see how that works out with him because he likes
[49:33] Speaker 3: to go in the tent. It's weird when the thing
[49:35] Speaker 3: you do best is also the thing they want you
[49:38] Speaker 3: to stop doing. It's hard for me to imagine that
[49:40] Speaker 3: they're just going to run away and score a bunch
[49:42] Speaker 3: of points. But neighbors, if neighbors, neighbors was like one
[49:44] Speaker 3: of the best receivers in football when he was healthy.
[49:47] Speaker 3: If that's the neighbors you get back, then I feel
[49:50] Speaker 3: differently about this team. I still don't think they're better
[49:52] Speaker 3: than the Eagles or the Cowboys.
[49:54] Speaker 1: I think they sound is so morose in the way
[49:57] Speaker 1: that they talked about neighbors all offseason. I will believe
[50:00] Speaker 1: they they were talking in ways or me or Ryan
[50:03] Speaker 1: was wondering why.
[50:04] Speaker 2: Does he still have a leg?
[50:06] Speaker 1: They were talking in ways that made me think he
[50:09] Speaker 1: wouldn't play this year. So I'm kind of like, we'll see. Dart,
[50:15] Speaker 1: they wanted for Dart. I think it's hard not to
[50:18] Speaker 1: watch the coverage of Dart and not come to the
[50:20] Speaker 1: conclusion they wanted for him and they got him a,
[50:23] Speaker 1: shall we say, partner in crime. You understand what I'm
[50:27] Speaker 1: saying here, right? They got a transcendent running back. The
[50:31] Speaker 1: problem is, Both of them, based on all the available
[50:35] Speaker 1: evidence that we have given, or rather than say both
[50:38] Speaker 1: of them, neither of them appears to be very bright.
[50:42] Speaker 1: In a way that I don't see how it doesn't
[50:45] Speaker 1: affect the football. When Jackson Dart's like, I don't understand
[50:49] Speaker 1: why they keep sending me to the tent.
[50:51] Speaker 2: Boy, what did you say?
[50:53] Speaker 1: You don't understand how to, like, oh, and you keep
[50:56] Speaker 1: doing that dumb shit on top of the fact that
[50:58] Speaker 1: you said some dumb shit, which just makes me.
[51:00] Speaker 2: Think, like, he might be out there like Brett Favre, like,
[51:03] Speaker 2: what's a nickel defense? I don't understand, right?
[51:05] Speaker 1: And maybe he's good enough that he don't need to
[51:08] Speaker 1: know these things.
[51:09] Speaker 2: I could be wrong.
[51:11] Speaker 1: And then that Scataboo boy, whew, I would not cheat
[51:14] Speaker 1: off of his paper.
[51:17] Speaker 3: He said CTE wasn't real, man.
[51:19] Speaker 1: He got up there and did that backflip. I would
[51:22] Speaker 1: not cheat off of his paper. The Giants are not
[51:27] Speaker 1: apparently trying to out-thank you with these guys.
[51:32] Speaker 2: And John Harbaugh possibly cooked.
[51:38] Speaker 1: It's on the board.
[51:41] Speaker 3: I mean, of those two guys, only one position isn't
[51:47] Speaker 3: a problem. I don't know that either. I mean, we
[51:50] Speaker 3: can point to some evidence that suggests that maybe they're
[51:52] Speaker 3: not the sharpest. Maybe they are. But I don't care
[51:57] Speaker 3: if the running back not. It's the quarterback, man. So
[52:01] Speaker 3: if that turns out to be a problem where his
[52:05] Speaker 3: offseason decisions became an issue in the locker room, which
[52:09] Speaker 3: sometimes that stuff is overblown, it might ultimately bring the
[52:11] Speaker 3: team closer together. But the idea that he is generating
[52:15] Speaker 3: this attention... And this doesn't even get to the on-field decisions.
[52:18] Speaker 3: Those are obviously more important. But, like, the idea that
[52:22] Speaker 3: he's generating that attention when you are, like, tasked with
[52:25] Speaker 3: being that, like, adult in the room as the quarterback
[52:29] Speaker 3: and then you're making these decisions on the field also, like,
[52:32] Speaker 3: that is concerning for the long-term future of Jackson Gardner.
[52:35] Speaker 2: I admit.
[52:37] Speaker 3: He's a level quarterback.
[52:38] Speaker 2: I admit I feel bad.
[52:39] Speaker 1: After watching Scataboo do that backflip, I've been waiting for
[52:41] Speaker 1: like six weeks to just get out here and just
[52:43] Speaker 1: say something about that dumb shit. I apologize for even
[52:47] Speaker 1: talking about it like that because I don't know.
[52:49] Speaker 2: Maybe he's some kind of savant. But I do feel
[52:53] Speaker 2: like that is a.
[52:55] Speaker 1: Those are two dudes that run through a wall for
[52:57] Speaker 1: you and somebody be like, but there's a door right there.
[53:01] Speaker 3: Now you got two doors.
[53:03] Speaker 2: Yeah, all you had to do was.
[53:05] Speaker 1: It used to be at wrestling where they had the
[53:07] Speaker 1: steel cage match. And Hulk Hogan would always try to
[53:09] Speaker 1: be like a G and climb over the top of
[53:11] Speaker 1: the cage. And the bad guys would always be trying
[53:14] Speaker 1: to just get to the door. It's a door right there.
[53:17] Speaker 1: You can just walk out. I know it seems crazy, but,
[53:20] Speaker 1: you know, that's your option. Meanwhile, the Cowboys, are they good?
[53:24] Speaker 1: I feel like they're good.
[53:26] Speaker 3: I mean, a Tyler Smith injury is going to hurt
[53:28] Speaker 3: their running attack. But, yeah, we just need proof of concept.
[53:34] Speaker 3: They got all the pieces that you need. We got
[53:37] Speaker 3: the proof of concept of the offense. It's really just defense.
[53:41] Speaker 3: If their defense is... I feel like we said this
[53:44] Speaker 3: ad nauseum. They don't have to be great, but they
[53:46] Speaker 3: have the potential to be actually a good defense. If
[53:49] Speaker 3: the offense returns, they just got to be okay on
[53:53] Speaker 3: defense because last year they were awful. They might be good.
[53:57] Speaker 3: Dak is the quarterback that everyone says is no longer
[54:00] Speaker 3: in the league anymore. This guy who's Kind of like
[54:03] Speaker 3: the opposite, like he's a kind of genius-level football guy
[54:07] Speaker 3: that sees everything and consistently makes the best decisions and
[54:12] Speaker 3: also has the arm strength to rip it, wants to
[54:14] Speaker 3: stay in the pocket. Like he's that guy. And now
[54:17] Speaker 3: I'm sure anyone who's listening to this will bring up
[54:19] Speaker 3: the playoffs, and that's another conversation. But in the regular season,
[54:23] Speaker 3: he's as good as anybody at that stuff.
[54:25] Speaker 1: And they got George Pickens on to prove it one
[54:27] Speaker 1: more again. I feel like Tampa Bay messed up with
[54:31] Speaker 1: Baker Mayfield. Get his cranky ass out there with something
[54:34] Speaker 1: to prove again. Y'all out here validating him.
[54:37] Speaker 2: Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah. Show me, little man.
[54:40] Speaker 3: That Baker chip on his shoulder thing. Yeah, I'm with you. But, man. Again,
[54:48] Speaker 3: you don't have no other options.
[54:50] Speaker 2: I know.
[54:50] Speaker 1: I understand why they did it that way. I'm just saying,
[54:53] Speaker 1: if y'all was really all in on this year, you
[54:54] Speaker 1: just talk bad to Baker all the time. I would
[54:56] Speaker 1: never say nothing nice to Baker if I was his coach.
[54:58] Speaker 2: You don't appreciate that.
[54:59] Speaker 3: You don't respond to that. I wonder, yeah, the Pickens
[55:03] Speaker 3: thing is people made the argument that keeping him on
[55:07] Speaker 3: this franchise tag situation is, to your point, prove it again,
[55:12] Speaker 3: it's hungry or whatever. Assuming, and you've helped to remind
[55:18] Speaker 3: me and teach me. This is like, as an economist
[55:21] Speaker 3: is like, yeah, you can predict the actions of a
[55:24] Speaker 3: big group. Individuals, man. Like just this assumption that like,
[55:29] Speaker 3: Oh yeah, we're going to get them hungry again. He
[55:31] Speaker 3: going to do just like last year. Like that really
[55:34] Speaker 3: ain't true necessarily. Like maybe I hope so. And like,
[55:38] Speaker 3: people would argue that the reason why he hadn't had
[55:40] Speaker 3: success before he got to Dallas was because he hadn't
[55:43] Speaker 3: had a quarterback to get him the ball, which that's
[55:46] Speaker 3: as plausible as anything. But also like thinking that you
[55:49] Speaker 3: are going to press the right button and get the
[55:52] Speaker 3: result that you expect. I think that.
[55:56] Speaker 1: I think with George Pickens, todo es posible. Todo es
[56:01] Speaker 1: en la plancha. It's all there.
[56:03] Speaker 2: Anything can happen.
[56:04] Speaker 3: That week last year where people say he was loafing,
[56:08] Speaker 3: he snapped on everybody. fighting with the media and everything.
[56:13] Speaker 1: Cowboys every day just kind of like, man, just throw
[56:15] Speaker 1: the ball, dog. Let me tell you what I bet
[56:18] Speaker 1: George Pickens does for the Cowboys, though. I bet he'd
[56:21] Speaker 1: be making them appreciate C.D.
[56:22] Speaker 3: Lamb.
[56:26] Speaker 1: C.D. Lamb is like, George Pickens, but you ain't got
[56:28] Speaker 1: to worry about him.
[56:32] Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I mean, people made the argument that maybe
[56:34] Speaker 3: they'll make a different decision at the end of this
[56:37] Speaker 3: year because Pickens is younger and and healthier than CeeDee Lamb. I,
[56:42] Speaker 3: like you, I assume this is what you would say.
[56:44] Speaker 3: It's like, I don't think they're going to see the
[56:46] Speaker 3: CeeDee and see where that takes them.
[56:48] Speaker 1: Look, I don't know what is going on with George
[56:50] Speaker 1: Pickens that they ain't told us. But I would not
[56:53] Speaker 1: be surprised if it is something. That's all I'm saying.
[56:56] Speaker 3: I want George Pickens and J-Mo on the same team.
[57:01] Speaker 3: That's what I want.
[57:03] Speaker 1: So, you raise a very interesting question for somebody like me.
[57:08] Speaker 1: fan of America's team, the Detroit Lions. If you told
[57:12] Speaker 1: me that that was on the board, right? If they
[57:14] Speaker 1: were like, yo, I'm on Ross St. Brown out of
[57:17] Speaker 1: there for George Pickens and to put him with J-Mo.
[57:23] Speaker 1: That would be what you're asking me is what is
[57:26] Speaker 1: my faith level in Dan-O and his ability to keep
[57:29] Speaker 1: it going? Because Dan-O already couldn't stop J-Mo from humping
[57:32] Speaker 1: the ground in the playoffs.
[57:34] Speaker 3: Yes.
[57:36] Speaker 1: Couldn't stop J-Mo from sending bets at the facility.
[57:40] Speaker 2: What was that other, oh, what was that other dumb
[57:42] Speaker 2: shit J-Mo did? J-Mo threw that interception.
[57:44] Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. I was talking about the shorts where he
[57:48] Speaker 3: bought the house and had on. He did.
[57:50] Speaker 2: That's right.
[57:50] Speaker 1: I forgot what they said, but I forgot.
[57:53] Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
[57:55] Speaker 2: George Pickens doesn't do that.
[57:56] Speaker 1: Like, George Pickens does things that don't make sense, but
[58:00] Speaker 1: J-Mo does things that are outright dumb. Just flat out dumb.
[58:06] Speaker 1: But man, if you had to deal with J-Mo and
[58:09] Speaker 1: George Pickens at the same time.
[58:12] Speaker 3: They might balance each other out. You never know. You
[58:14] Speaker 3: don't know how this chemistry works. You put them in
[58:16] Speaker 3: there and they might be just mellow.
[58:18] Speaker 1: J-Mo, George Pickens, with Jameer Gibbs in the backfield. It'd
[58:23] Speaker 1: be explosive. J-Mo and George Pickens, that's exactly what they
[58:26] Speaker 1: would be.
[58:30] Speaker 2: Explosive.
[58:31] Speaker 3: Did you see... the clip from Amon Ra and the St.
[58:37] Speaker 3: Brown podcast where they were talking to your coach, Dan,
[58:41] Speaker 3: about how he put out a cigarette on Tony Romo's hand.
[58:48] Speaker 3: You ain't seen this one, huh? No. So they were
[58:52] Speaker 3: talking to him and apparently Tony Romo was on part
[58:55] Speaker 3: of my take and he said that when he was
[58:57] Speaker 3: a rookie that he was at a bar and and
[59:02] Speaker 3: everyone really liked Tony and Dan called him over at
[59:05] Speaker 3: the bar and just put out a cigarette on the
[59:09] Speaker 3: back of his hand.
[59:10] Speaker 2: Man, it's good to be white, dog.
[59:13] Speaker 1: You're not becoming a coach after being the dude that
[59:16] Speaker 1: does that.
[59:17] Speaker 2: At least not this kind of coach.
[59:18] Speaker 3: And he said that he and then Amon Ra very
[59:22] Speaker 3: wisely was like, that ain't the first time you did that.
[59:26] Speaker 3: No one does that once. And he was like, yeah,
[59:28] Speaker 3: I would do that to guys. And then he defended
[59:31] Speaker 3: himself by saying, but I do it to myself, too. So,
[59:39] Speaker 3: I say that to say that George Pickens, J-Mo, like,
[59:46] Speaker 3: they might be great head coaches one day. That shit's
[59:52] Speaker 3: just as dumb as anything that they've done. It is. Dumber.
[59:56] Speaker 1: And now I'm saying, guys, I don't know if we
[59:59] Speaker 1: can have all these guys. You can have one knucklehead
[1:00:01] Speaker 1: on the team, but you can't have two. I don't
[1:00:03] Speaker 1: know if the Lions can have two anymore because Dan
[1:00:05] Speaker 1: is one.
[1:00:08] Speaker 3: He's a mature knucklehead, but it's still in him. He
[1:00:11] Speaker 3: stopped drinking as much coffee. Wasn't he drinking like two
[1:00:13] Speaker 3: gallons of coffee a day or something? Trying to have
[1:00:16] Speaker 3: a heart attack.
[1:00:17] Speaker 2: That's going to be such a wild team, man. Every
[1:00:19] Speaker 2: game is going to be like 50 to 48.
[1:00:20] Speaker 3: Yep, no defense.
[1:00:22] Speaker 1: Every single game. They are just going to light this
[1:00:25] Speaker 1: thing up.
[1:00:27] Speaker 2: That is.
[1:00:29] Speaker 1: Dominique Fosworth. We made it to week one, brother. Check
[1:00:32] Speaker 1: him out on the Dominique Fosworth show. Available on all
[1:00:34] Speaker 1: five podcasts. Giving away for free. My brother, I appreciate you.
[1:00:38] Speaker 3: I appreciate you, man. All right, Bo.
[1:00:40] Speaker 4: Time for a quick America's Team update presented by PrizePix. Detroit,
[1:00:45] Speaker 4: they're taking on New Orleans this upcoming Sunday. What are
[1:00:49] Speaker 4: you expecting from your team this season?
[1:00:52] Speaker 1: All right, so this is going to be an interesting
[1:00:53] Speaker 1: matchup as it is my Detroit team against Ryan's New
[1:00:56] Speaker 1: Orleans team. Let me tell you this about Detroit this year. More.
[1:01:01] Speaker 1: Anytime it comes up and you got a choice more,
[1:01:03] Speaker 1: they're going to score a gazillion points. And so is
[1:01:07] Speaker 1: the other team. Maybe the only place you go less
[1:01:10] Speaker 1: is in rushing for the other team, because I don't
[1:01:13] Speaker 1: know why the other team would ever run the ball
[1:01:16] Speaker 1: because you'll be able to throw it on Detroit this year.
[1:01:19] Speaker 2: Goodness gracious.
[1:01:20] Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, thanks so much for joining us here
