Bomani Jones breaks down Texas’ loss to Florida, Alabama’s defeat against Tennessee, Georgia’s surprising stumble, and a chaotic college football Saturday Bomani starts with the Texas Longhorns and the growing criticism of Arch Manning. How much responsibility belongs to Arch, and how much belongs to the coach who recruited him and was supposed to develop him? Bomani questions the expectations surrounding Manning, explains why Sarkisian deserves more scrutiny and weighs whether benching Arch would actually solve anything. Then, they discuss Ohio State’s close win over Indiana, Curt Cignetti’s coaching and what Ryan Day’s team showed against the Hoosiers. With Ohio State facing a quarterback injury, how much can the Buckeyes ask of Jeremiah Smith? Plus, Bomani has an unconventional explanation for Indiana’s missed opportunity in the end zone. In the SEC, Alabama’s loss to Tennessee raises questions about Kalen DeBoer, the Crimson Tide’s playoff outlook and what Alabama fans should expect after Nick Saban. If fans want a coaching change, who would actually want the job? Bomani also examines Georgia’s unexpected loss, Kirby Smart’s remarkable consistency and why avoiding bad losses is harder than the great coaches make it look. The conversation continues with Ole Miss’ dominant performance against Missouri and Trinidad Chambliss’ play, followed by Miami’s double-overtime escape against Florida State. Bomani explains what makes Darian Mensah and Malachi Toney such a dangerous quarterback–receiver combination—and why Mario Cristobal still makes him nervous. They also react to BYU beating Notre Dame, what that result means for the Big 12 and how NIL, talent distribution and the College Football Playoff are reshaping the sport. Finally, Bomani discusses Colorado’s competitive loss to Utah, Deion Sanders’ quarterback change and the costly late mistake that spoiled a potential comeback. [0:03] Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to The Right Time, presented by PrizePix.
[0:08] Speaker 2: My name is Beaumont E. Jones.
[0:09] Speaker 1: Thanks for listening wherever you get your podcasts. Thanks for
[0:11] Speaker 1: watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like, rate us, review us,
[0:14] Speaker 1: give us five stars. You can give us four stars.
[0:16] Speaker 1: I'm inclined to believe you are a hater. And, all right,
[0:20] Speaker 1: we had a crazy college football day, which is not
[0:24] Speaker 1: necessarily the same thing as.
[0:26] Speaker 2: A great college football day.
[0:28] Speaker 1: I don't feel like we're coming away from Saturday feeling like, man,
[0:33] Speaker 1: That was a bunch of great games.
[0:36] Speaker 2: But it was some really interesting outcomes, right?
[0:40] Speaker 1: Now, Ryan, you and I in the 12 o'clock window
[0:43] Speaker 1: were watching different games. You were watching LSU play against
[0:47] Speaker 1: Mississippi State, who did not have their starting quarterback.
[0:49] Speaker 2: It's important to point that out so you don't get
[0:51] Speaker 2: too excited.
[0:52] Speaker 3: I will never... No matter how college football changes, I
[0:56] Speaker 3: will never brag about beating Mississippi State.
[0:59] Speaker 2: Under any circumstance.
[1:00] Speaker 3: No, no.
[1:01] Speaker 2: No matter if they got Dak Prescott or what, huh?
[1:03] Speaker 3: Correct.
[1:04] Speaker 2: You're not going there.
[1:05] Speaker 1: I tell you, I never forget, boy, when I was
[1:07] Speaker 1: living in Miami, I used to live a few blocks
[1:09] Speaker 1: away from the Fontainebleau.
[1:11] Speaker 2: And it's nothing like.
[1:12] Speaker 1: When you don't really pay attention to who's in what
[1:14] Speaker 1: bowl and the shock of seeing Mississippi State gear. in
[1:18] Speaker 1: the lobby of the Fontainebleau because they made the Orange
[1:21] Speaker 1: Bowl that one time.
[1:22] Speaker 3: That's incredible.
[1:23] Speaker 1: Never thought I'd live that long. But anyway, you were
[1:27] Speaker 1: watching that game. I was watching Ohio State and Indiana. Meanwhile,
[1:35] Speaker 1: Sark and Arch, both of them were like, why don't
[1:39] Speaker 1: you bring somebody else in to do this?
[1:42] Speaker 2: And it's an argument that, I mean, for those who
[1:45] Speaker 2: don't know.
[1:46] Speaker 1: Um, The 2019 LSU Tigers played against Texas. They're not
[1:52] Speaker 1: really the 2019 LSU Tigers. Was it Josh Pate who
[1:55] Speaker 1: compared Florida to 2019 LSU?
[1:58] Speaker 2: That was a.
[1:59] Speaker 3: Bit of social media manager you hate, but that was
[2:03] Speaker 3: the clip that was going around.
[2:04] Speaker 2: I mean, I can't blame the social media manager for that.
[2:07] Speaker 3: No, for sure. I mean, don't hit the player, hit
[2:10] Speaker 3: the game.
[2:10] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
[2:11] Speaker 1: Like, honestly, on that one, you get out and nobody
[2:14] Speaker 1: misrepresented him. Like, you get out here and you say that,
[2:18] Speaker 1: it's exactly for that, to the point where I feel
[2:20] Speaker 1: like I shouldn't be talking about that shit, because I
[2:23] Speaker 1: fell for it.
[2:24] Speaker 3: Right?
[2:24] Speaker 1: Like, I appreciate when social media people try to get
[2:28] Speaker 1: me on a hot take thing, and there's somebody that
[2:30] Speaker 1: pops up.
[2:31] Speaker 2: And is like, but you know what? He means that.
[2:35] Speaker 2: I can't see the world where Josh Pate meant that.
[2:39] Speaker 1: Maybe he did, and maybe there was an explanation that
[2:42] Speaker 1: I simply didn't see.
[2:44] Speaker 2: But anyway.
[2:45] Speaker 1: After they went out and lost, what.
[2:46] Speaker 2: Two straight games after that?
[2:48] Speaker 3: Right.
[2:48] Speaker 1: They then came up. They went to Austin when they
[2:52] Speaker 1: beat Texas. And, boy, hard on Arch, man. They coming
[3:00] Speaker 1: down something vicious on Arch. I only saw highlights. I
[3:05] Speaker 1: don't know how much of the game that I saw, but.
[3:11] Speaker 2: Was it really on Arch or was this a Sark?
[3:13] Speaker 1: Because, I mean, I want to make this point. To me,
[3:18] Speaker 1: even Arch losses are Sark losses. You're the reason he's there.
[3:23] Speaker 1: The point of him going there was because you were
[3:26] Speaker 1: supposed to be the guy to get.
[3:27] Speaker 2: Him to where he needed to be. He is not, right?
[3:32] Speaker 2: He never got to be better than Quinn Ewers. He's
[3:35] Speaker 2: not it.
[3:36] Speaker 1: Now, look, maybe some of that is on Arch himself,
[3:40] Speaker 1: at which point This goes right back to Sark.
[3:42] Speaker 2: Like you shouldn't, you have seen through it. Or was
[3:44] Speaker 2: everybody just a little bit too excited about the idea?
[3:48] Speaker 3: He's been there a long time. You have to know his,
[3:50] Speaker 3: you should be more than aware of his strengths and weaknesses.
[3:53] Speaker 1: I'm talking about before he even got there, there was
[3:57] Speaker 1: great reason to be skeptical of what was being said
[4:01] Speaker 1: about arch largely because he didn't really dominate in that
[4:06] Speaker 1: lower level of Louisiana football that he was playing. Like
[4:12] Speaker 1: they were not for him to be the guy that
[4:14] Speaker 1: people said that he was. They should have just been
[4:15] Speaker 1: walking on over everywhere.
[4:17] Speaker 3: Correct.
[4:17] Speaker 2: That wasn't that wasn't it. Right.
[4:20] Speaker 1: That wasn't it. And the other part, this is where
[4:22] Speaker 1: it gets interesting. I was talking to my buddy Mike
[4:24] Speaker 1: Jones about this.
[4:25] Speaker 2: He made a great point. Arch has not been robo quarterback.
[4:30] Speaker 1: Which I kind of appreciate, like playing basketball during the
[4:33] Speaker 1: offseason and all of this stuff. And I would like
[4:36] Speaker 1: to think that you should be able to do that
[4:38] Speaker 1: and still come in and play.
[4:40] Speaker 2: And by and large, I think you probably can, right?
[4:42] Speaker 1: Like I think a lot of that, the marginal returns
[4:47] Speaker 1: on a lot of this extra work, I think is zero.
[4:50] Speaker 1: In some cases, it might even be negative. But this
[4:54] Speaker 1: was not Peyton Manning is what I'm saying. I don't
[4:56] Speaker 1: know like what the level of investment in being this
[4:58] Speaker 1: guy truly is or how much of this comes from
[5:01] Speaker 1: people on the outside or anything else.
[5:04] Speaker 2: But the bottom line is, You're not supposed to lose
[5:07] Speaker 2: this game, period. You're just not.
[5:10] Speaker 1: I don't care if it's a hangover from losing to
[5:13] Speaker 1: Oklahoma or not. You're not supposed to lose this game.
[5:18] Speaker 2: And they did.
[5:18] Speaker 1: I also want to throw this out here, Ryan. I
[5:20] Speaker 1: don't know if you know this. Just before I forget,
[5:22] Speaker 1: I was talking to Spencer about this. And he was
[5:28] Speaker 1: telling me, I can't remember if it was Spencer or
[5:31] Speaker 1: somebody else that was saying the guy, the quarterback for
[5:34] Speaker 1: Florida right now, calling him Trammell Jones. And I was like, wow,
[5:39] Speaker 1: who names their kid after Alan Trammell, former shortstop of
[5:44] Speaker 1: the Detroit Tigers, Hall of Famer. Shout out to Lou Whitaker,
[5:48] Speaker 1: who I think is getting overlooked. But anyway, then I
[5:51] Speaker 1: found out it was not Trammell, it was Trammell. And
[5:55] Speaker 1: suddenly the picture I had in my head of that
[5:57] Speaker 1: quarterback was completely different.
[5:58] Speaker 3: Of course.
[5:59] Speaker 1: I was like, oh, wow, yeah, I misunderstood it. Thought
[6:02] Speaker 1: we were talking about something else.
[6:04] Speaker 3: That sounds like a Spencer conversation.
[6:05] Speaker 1: Yeah, but tell me this. And I think you and
[6:08] Speaker 1: I talked about this a little bit. You think they
[6:10] Speaker 1: might bench Arch? Because I don't, that still feels a little.
[6:14] Speaker 2: Hasty to me.
[6:15] Speaker 3: I think that everything is on the board in year
[6:19] Speaker 3: four after back-to-back losses when you were the number one
[6:22] Speaker 3: team in the country.
[6:23] Speaker 2: Yeah, but I, this is all I'm saying.
[6:26] Speaker 1: If there was somebody good enough to replace what Arch
[6:28] Speaker 1: gives you, which is good, not great, I feel like
[6:32] Speaker 1: we'd have heard a lot more about that person already.
[6:34] Speaker 3: That's a fair point.
[6:35] Speaker 2: That's all I'm saying.
[6:36] Speaker 1: Like, you can do this if you want, but now
[6:40] Speaker 1: you start sounding a little bit like Alabama.
[6:43] Speaker 2: Put a pin in that one. We'll get back over there.
[6:46] Speaker 2: Don't you worry. We've got time.
[6:50] Speaker 1: That 12 o'clock window also, though, I watched Ohio State
[6:53] Speaker 1: in Indiana.
[6:55] Speaker 2: It's a crazy world that we live in, man, because.
[6:59] Speaker 1: The idea that Ohio State and Indiana play close games
[7:02] Speaker 1: is one thing. The idea that Indiana looks just as
[7:07] Speaker 1: good as Ohio State is still mind blowing. Like what
[7:11] Speaker 1: you would expect typically when you see something like this
[7:14] Speaker 1: is that there's some sort of schematic trickery that's going
[7:18] Speaker 1: on here. Like you would think that for Indiana to
[7:21] Speaker 1: be able to compete. Yes, I know they won the
[7:23] Speaker 1: national championship last year. It still ain't been that long.
[7:25] Speaker 1: you would think that for them to be able to compete,
[7:28] Speaker 1: that it would be some crazy thing like when Purdue
[7:31] Speaker 1: brought the spread.
[7:32] Speaker 2: To the Big Ten or something like this.
[7:33] Speaker 3: Like really, Chip?
[7:34] Speaker 2: Yes.
[7:35] Speaker 1: Some offense that just nobody is ready for, and they're
[7:39] Speaker 1: beating teams by putting up 50, 60, or being out
[7:42] Speaker 1: there like what Chip did was, those teams weren't big enough.
[7:46] Speaker 1: They were just faster than everybody. They were faster, and
[7:50] Speaker 1: they played faster.
[7:50] Speaker 2: Yeah, a little by some little scampers.
[7:53] Speaker 1: You would think this was, no, man, they're out here
[7:55] Speaker 1: playing 19-15 against Ohio State, which is not terribly different
[7:58] Speaker 1: than what the score was in the Big Ten Championship
[8:01] Speaker 1: last year. Like, they are going toe-to-toe with Ohio State,
[8:05] Speaker 1: and they had the game, but he just did not
[8:09] Speaker 1: get his feet down standing wide open in the end zone. Now,
[8:15] Speaker 1: one could make the argument that maybe the throw should
[8:17] Speaker 1: have been a little bit more toward the middle of
[8:18] Speaker 1: the field while we're blaming people. This is what happened, though,
[8:23] Speaker 1: to me. This is who you blame. You blame the rules.
[8:29] Speaker 2: That's right. Now, here's why I say you blame the rules.
[8:31] Speaker 1: Now, yes, college rules say the receiver only has to
[8:34] Speaker 1: get one foot inbounds, and obviously he got zero. And
[8:37] Speaker 1: you would be thinking, what more could the rules be?
[8:40] Speaker 1: My hot take on that one, if you watch the play, Ryan,
[8:43] Speaker 1: don't you think? That if the rule had been two feet,
[8:47] Speaker 1: that he would have approached the situation much differently.
[8:50] Speaker 2: And with greater care. And at the very least would
[8:53] Speaker 2: have gotten a foot in.
[8:55] Speaker 3: That's a good take. Because if you see him going
[9:00] Speaker 3: down the sideline, he just times his feet wrong. So
[9:04] Speaker 3: he gets the lead foot down.
[9:07] Speaker 1: Yeah, he did not treat that with any urgency or care.
[9:11] Speaker 1: He did not treat that as though this was at
[9:14] Speaker 1: all in question. He treated it like he was standing
[9:17] Speaker 1: under the goalpost. Because he's like, yeah, I just got
[9:20] Speaker 1: to get one foot in. And that foot he thought
[9:22] Speaker 1: would be down wasn't down. And then he put the
[9:25] Speaker 1: other one in. He didn't even think, hey, man, maybe
[9:27] Speaker 1: I need to just make sure he could have flexed
[9:29] Speaker 1: on him a little bit and put that foot down.
[9:31] Speaker 2: It was on fourth down, and he just missed it.
[9:34] Speaker 2: That's all it was.
[9:35] Speaker 3: Like a bad practice rep.
[9:36] Speaker 1: Right. Well, now Ohio State's got a problem because, number one,
[9:40] Speaker 1: I'm sorry. I don't care if Indiana won the national
[9:42] Speaker 1: championship again. They are Ohio State and you are Indiana.
[9:46] Speaker 1: You're not supposed to lose to Indiana under any circumstance.
[9:48] Speaker 1: In fact, your games aren't even supposed to be close.
[9:51] Speaker 1: I don't care how much higher they are punching above
[9:53] Speaker 1: their weight class. The games are never supposed to be close.
[9:57] Speaker 2: And so that team with the best players in the
[10:00] Speaker 2: country is down a quarterback.
[10:04] Speaker 3: For several weeks.
[10:05] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[10:06] Speaker 2: Say it over there.
[10:06] Speaker 1: They're going to lose some games. I don't know how many,
[10:11] Speaker 1: but I feel like they're going to lose more than one.
[10:13] Speaker 1: That being said, and I could be wrong here. I
[10:17] Speaker 1: don't know what approach it is that Ohio State is
[10:21] Speaker 1: going to take with the offense. I know the offense
[10:25] Speaker 1: that I would run is the modified Bel Air. What
[10:32] Speaker 1: are we going to do, guys? We're going to pass
[10:35] Speaker 1: the ball to Will. By the way, Will made a
[10:39] Speaker 1: great catch with two people around him in the end zone.
[10:42] Speaker 1: But Indiana did a great job on Will in that game.
[10:48] Speaker 3: I mean, I mean... I'm never going to– I didn't
[10:52] Speaker 3: leave that game impressed Friday night from what I saw. Sorry.
[10:57] Speaker 3: Maybe he's in a no-win situation. I think this is
[11:00] Speaker 3: quite literally the definition of a no-win situation. But Curt
[11:04] Speaker 3: Cignetti is the better coach.
[11:06] Speaker 2: Oh, that's not even close.
[11:07] Speaker 3: Not even close.
[11:08] Speaker 2: A great Curt Cignetti moment. Did you see the pregame interview.
[11:12] Speaker 1: Where they asked him, what do you do to shut
[11:14] Speaker 1: down Jeremiah Smith?
[11:16] Speaker 3: I did not.
[11:18] Speaker 1: Best answer possible. Going to hit the quarterback before he
[11:21] Speaker 1: throws the ball. And let me tell you something. Talk
[11:26] Speaker 1: about a man that ain't blowing no smoke.
[11:28] Speaker 2: Right. I don't think he's capable of it.
[11:30] Speaker 3: No.
[11:31] Speaker 2: Hashtag, if you know what I mean. I don't think
[11:34] Speaker 2: he could tell a lie under those circumstances. Nah.
[11:36] Speaker 1: He's just like, no, no, no, that's all we're going
[11:37] Speaker 1: to do. They did a great job there. Ohio State
[11:40] Speaker 1: plays defense too, man.
[11:42] Speaker 2: Like, they... But Indiana had that. Like, Indiana can still
[11:47] Speaker 2: win a national championship. Indiana got, what's my man's name?
[11:50] Speaker 2: Charlie Becker. Let me get a picture of him. There
[11:53] Speaker 2: we go.
[11:53] Speaker 1: I've been looking for a picture of him with no
[11:55] Speaker 1: hat on. Cause like name like Charlie Becker. I was like, Oh,
[11:59] Speaker 1: I know what he looks like. But then I watch
[12:00] Speaker 1: him play football at wide receiver. And I'm like, Oh,
[12:03] Speaker 1: I wonder what that's about. No, no, no. That's a
[12:05] Speaker 1: Charlie Becker. I used to know a professor named Charlie Becker.
[12:10] Speaker 1: And he looks like they might be kin.
[12:12] Speaker 2: That's all I'm saying. That's all I'm saying.
[12:16] Speaker 1: But that Charlie Becker, ran the diversity program for the
[12:19] Speaker 1: American Economics Association.
[12:20] Speaker 2: So who knows?
[12:21] Speaker 1: This Charlie Becker might be down with the squad also
[12:23] Speaker 1: in his own different sort of way.
[12:24] Speaker 2: You dig? You feel?
[12:25] Speaker 1: But I guess we're going to hear more from both
[12:28] Speaker 1: of those teams. That gets us through the 12 slate.
[12:32] Speaker 1: The 3 o'clock slate had surprises that, well, a surprise
[12:37] Speaker 1: that we'd say. One, I did not expect Ole Miss
[12:41] Speaker 1: to truck Mizzou.
[12:44] Speaker 2: Like they did.
[12:45] Speaker 1: Like my plan for that window was to watch that game.
[12:48] Speaker 1: Cause I want to see Trinidad and Austin Simmons. And
[12:51] Speaker 1: it's Austin Simmons did not look like I had been
[12:53] Speaker 1: advertised to be in the course of that. I don't
[12:56] Speaker 1: know what exactly happened. That's the team that blew Florida's
[12:58] Speaker 1: doors off.
[12:59] Speaker 2: Right.
[12:59] Speaker 1: Right.
[13:01] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[13:01] Speaker 2: It didn't look like that kind of team.
[13:02] Speaker 1: I also think it's entirely possible that that game was
[13:04] Speaker 1: just a lot for Simmons. Like going back to old
[13:06] Speaker 1: miss after how things had gone last year, maybe that
[13:10] Speaker 1: was a lot. Meanwhile, Chambliss looked like one of the
[13:13] Speaker 1: two best quarterbacks in the country. We'll talk about who
[13:16] Speaker 1: might have been the other one. Put a pin in
[13:18] Speaker 1: that part. But then we wound up with Alabama-Tennessee. So
[13:23] Speaker 1: I'm watching Alabama-Tennessee because, you know, I don't think I'd
[13:27] Speaker 1: watch Tennessee play this year.
[13:29] Speaker 2: I want to see how Alabama bounced back.
[13:32] Speaker 1: They did the thing that I hate in that game,
[13:35] Speaker 1: which is everybody wearing their colored jerseys.
[13:39] Speaker 3: Are you one of those that gets really riled up
[13:42] Speaker 3: about what jerseys people wear?
[13:44] Speaker 2: Hate it. I don't think.
[13:46] Speaker 1: One team is supposed to wear white. The other team
[13:48] Speaker 1: is not. That's how I feel.
[13:51] Speaker 2: Right?
[13:51] Speaker 1: Like, we're supposed to have clear signals here of what's
[13:54] Speaker 1: going on.
[13:55] Speaker 2: I really hate it in the NBA. Where.
[13:58] Speaker 1: I can't tell who's playing and where the different fucking
[14:02] Speaker 1: floor than it's been at any point in time.
[14:04] Speaker 2: I got no.
[14:04] Speaker 1: Consistency, man. You can't just be changing everything up on me.
[14:07] Speaker 1: I'm too old for that. My father's 89 years old.
[14:10] Speaker 1: I can't imagine what it's like if he tried to
[14:12] Speaker 1: figure out who played a basketball game these days. But anyway,
[14:16] Speaker 1: any of these, they're all, no, that's what we do.
[14:18] Speaker 1: Everybody wears their home jerseys. No, there's a home team
[14:22] Speaker 1: and a road team. Some of y'all's white jerseys are better,
[14:25] Speaker 1: but anyway, How many years in a row did Saban
[14:28] Speaker 1: beat Tennessee?
[14:29] Speaker 2: Was it like 15?
[14:29] Speaker 3: It was at least double digits.
[14:33] Speaker 2: I think it was all of them but one.
[14:34] Speaker 3: Right. It was all of them but that last year.
[14:37] Speaker 2: Yeah, like that was one.
[14:38] Speaker 1: There are some rivalries that are very interesting because they
[14:42] Speaker 1: become generational. So for Alabama fans, LSU replaced Tennessee twice.
[14:48] Speaker 2: As that other rival. The whole reason the SEC had.
[14:51] Speaker 1: The design that it did, where every team plays one
[14:54] Speaker 1: team in another division, was to protect Alabama, Tennessee, and
[14:57] Speaker 1: Georgia Auburn. Because those were such big, important rivalries. And
[15:02] Speaker 1: Saban just rendered that one irrelevant. Just trucking through Tennessee.
[15:07] Speaker 3: Tennessee hired a few goobers in a row after Fulmer, too.
[15:13] Speaker 2: Who was the first goober? Derek Dooley?
[15:14] Speaker 1: Oh, no.
[15:19] Speaker 2: Your guy.
[15:20] Speaker 3: Oh, that.
[15:23] Speaker 2: Your guy was the first one.
[15:25] Speaker 3: I forgot about that.
[15:26] Speaker 1: Yeah, it was just that fast. Your guy was the first.
[15:30] Speaker 2: They're so quick.
[15:31] Speaker 3: I didn't even notice.
[15:32] Speaker 2: Yeah. Remember this, buddy.
[15:34] Speaker 1: Your guy now currently has the third best job he's
[15:38] Speaker 1: ever had.
[15:39] Speaker 2: And Tennessee was fourth.
[15:44] Speaker 1: He resembles a loathsome jerk. Niff, I feel, resembles, simply resembles.
[15:50] Speaker 1: What was I talking about? Sorry, I get a little upset.
[15:52] Speaker 1: We were talking about Tennessee and Alabama. Okay, buddy, the
[15:56] Speaker 1: Alabama faithful. They lost that game. It was fairly thorough.
[16:01] Speaker 1: One of my black homies who's an Alabama fan, he's
[16:04] Speaker 1: ready to send Russell out of there.
[16:06] Speaker 2: Out of there. I see the whites. They're done with DeBoer.
[16:11] Speaker 2: They're ready to send him Out of there.
[16:13] Speaker 3: Another school that lost two games in a row.
[16:16] Speaker 2: Yeah, but that outcome, I think, was perfectly reasonable.
[16:19] Speaker 1: Given the game they had the week before, which was
[16:24] Speaker 1: going to be a slobber knocker anyway, on top of
[16:26] Speaker 1: the fact that they lost it in a heartbreaking fashion
[16:28] Speaker 1: when Buddy committed that stupid personal foul at the end
[16:30] Speaker 1: that really wrapped it up. This was not, and they're
[16:34] Speaker 1: not playing a bad team. This outcome was not necessarily
[16:39] Speaker 1: off the board. However, if what Alabama expects is to
[16:47] Speaker 1: be year in, year out, one of the two best
[16:51] Speaker 1: teams in the SEC, I don't know if that's going
[16:55] Speaker 1: to happen here.
[16:58] Speaker 2: And that normally gets the coach fired. What I feel
[17:04] Speaker 2: like Alabama.
[17:04] Speaker 1: Needs to do is root against USC's opponents every week
[17:10] Speaker 1: and hope that that gets them to dial up and
[17:12] Speaker 1: get the 70 million and get Lincoln Riley out of there,
[17:16] Speaker 1: and then hope that the former athletic director at Washington
[17:20] Speaker 1: hires the coach that Washington hired previously, Kalen DeBoer, and.
[17:25] Speaker 2: Gets him over there.
[17:27] Speaker 1: Because the problem you get with firing a guy like
[17:31] Speaker 1: him because of a season like this.
[17:34] Speaker 2: Why would I take that job?
[17:38] Speaker 1: I don't think people, this is the thing that people
[17:41] Speaker 1: who are too young to remember this job as a
[17:44] Speaker 1: true dragon, what I don't think they remember is what
[17:49] Speaker 1: happened before they hired Saban. And I don't mean the coaches,
[17:52] Speaker 1: I mean that hiring cycle. They couldn't get anybody. They
[17:59] Speaker 1: could not get anybody because, A, nobody really wanted that job. B,
[18:04] Speaker 1: the thing that I don't think is the same as
[18:05] Speaker 1: was then was that people raised the question as to
[18:08] Speaker 1: how high the ceiling still was truly at Alabama. And
[18:11] Speaker 1: at that time, the ceiling was always going to be
[18:12] Speaker 1: crazy high because.
[18:15] Speaker 2: They were going to do what needed to be done.
[18:18] Speaker 1: Now, if they pass this stupid-ass bill in Congress, it
[18:22] Speaker 1: may get back to that because it's going to throw
[18:24] Speaker 1: the money back under the table and Alabama's all right, cool.
[18:26] Speaker 1: It's just going to come down to how bad you
[18:27] Speaker 1: want it. Okay, that's where we thrive, right? If it's
[18:33] Speaker 1: just about how bad we want it, that's where we thrive.
[18:36] Speaker 1: But they looked a bit overmatched, and Russell did not
[18:40] Speaker 1: look good in that game.
[18:46] Speaker 2: Are they even a playoff team?
[18:49] Speaker 3: I mean, it's going to be close. I mean, everyone
[18:53] Speaker 3: in the SEC other than Georgia, who we'll get to
[18:56] Speaker 3: in a second, I mean, all that, like, two through
[18:59] Speaker 3: four is going to be real tight as we come
[19:02] Speaker 3: down the stretch.
[19:02] Speaker 1: Man, Spencer did the rotation or, like, the transitivity on
[19:09] Speaker 1: this when I was on the phone with him yesterday.
[19:12] Speaker 1: And I don't feel like I can do it off
[19:15] Speaker 1: the top of my head. But basically, all the teams,
[19:20] Speaker 1: it kind of rotates around.
[19:21] Speaker 2: Right. And everybody gets a piece, right? Like, it's a.
[19:28] Speaker 1: One could make an argument that this is a year
[19:31] Speaker 1: for a playoff because part of my belief of why
[19:34] Speaker 1: we didn't really need a playoff before is that it's
[19:38] Speaker 1: rarely been that difficult for me to get a handle
[19:41] Speaker 1: on like who the best couple three teams are in
[19:44] Speaker 1: the country.
[19:45] Speaker 2: Now, the idea that the only way to settle it
[19:48] Speaker 2: is on the field is honestly for uncredited. people.
[19:52] Speaker 1: My argument has always been the reason there's never been
[19:54] Speaker 1: a playoff or shouldn't have been a playoff before or
[19:57] Speaker 1: there's just no way to come up with a champion
[19:59] Speaker 1: in this ridiculous game because it's not.
[20:01] Speaker 2: Built for that. There wasn't structure for you to be
[20:03] Speaker 2: able to do that. That's just how I felt.
[20:07] Speaker 1: But I don't think that Anybody has that great a
[20:11] Speaker 1: handle on where these teams are relative to each other.
[20:16] Speaker 1: And this is especially the case after watching Auburn beat Georgia.
[20:20] Speaker 2: Yes. Now that.
[20:22] Speaker 3: Georgia at home.
[20:23] Speaker 1: Did you see what the streak was for wins over
[20:27] Speaker 1: unranked teams for Georgia?
[20:29] Speaker 3: I can't imagine. It's what goes back to what, 2018?
[20:33] Speaker 2: Throw a number out there. Just guess.
[20:35] Speaker 3: 35? 53.
[20:38] Speaker 2: 53. 53.
[20:41] Speaker 1: Because that's the thing about Kirby, which was the thing
[20:45] Speaker 1: about Saban, is they never lost these games.
[20:50] Speaker 2: Right? Like, that's how you.
[20:51] Speaker 1: Wind up going through and beating Tennessee 15 straight years.
[20:54] Speaker 2: You never lose these.
[20:57] Speaker 1: You might lose a game that maybe you shouldn't have
[21:00] Speaker 1: against a pretty good team that dialed it up and
[21:02] Speaker 1: you couldn't. But what the Saban machine never did was
[21:06] Speaker 1: play with its food. At least not after 2007. That's
[21:10] Speaker 1: when they had the Louisiana Monroe loss. Ryan, who was it?
[21:14] Speaker 2: Was it UAB where Saban.
[21:15] Speaker 1: Got his, that was his play with his food loss
[21:17] Speaker 1: the first year at LSU?
[21:18] Speaker 3: I think it was the second year, but yeah, it
[21:21] Speaker 3: was a real bad loss.
[21:22] Speaker 2: Yeah, it was first year. Because second year they won
[21:24] Speaker 2: the SEC. Yes.
[21:25] Speaker 1: Yeah, but that's, that is where, that's what stopped. After 2010, basically,
[21:32] Speaker 1: where they lost those three games that year. Right.
[21:34] Speaker 2: Play with your food losses off the table. Didn't happen.
[21:38] Speaker 1: This wasn't even a matter of Georgia playing with their food.
[21:40] Speaker 2: They just lost.
[21:41] Speaker 1: And I think one thing we're going to see and
[21:43] Speaker 1: why that Indiana season last year is really going to
[21:45] Speaker 1: jump out is like the error of regular season undefeated,
[21:48] Speaker 1: especially now that these conferences are going to nine conference games.
[21:52] Speaker 1: This is just, we, even though we won, we got
[21:55] Speaker 1: our ass kicked last week. And we kicked their asses too.
[21:58] Speaker 1: That's how they lost to Tennessee. And now we came
[22:01] Speaker 1: out here after that at the crib in a rivalry
[22:04] Speaker 1: game and they just couldn't dial it up.
[22:07] Speaker 3: Right.
[22:08] Speaker 2: You know, like that's the amazing thing.
[22:10] Speaker 1: Like to coach college guys and never lose the games
[22:12] Speaker 1: that you're not supposed to.
[22:13] Speaker 2: Lose is crazy, crazy.
[22:15] Speaker 1: And again, Georgia does have built-in advantages. Alabama, I argue
[22:20] Speaker 1: the only built-in advantage is desire. Georgia is, sits on
[22:25] Speaker 1: the best recruiting ground in the country and don't even
[22:29] Speaker 1: really be getting those boys.
[22:31] Speaker 2: They still going to do better. Right?
[22:34] Speaker 1: They treat Georgia like Urban Meyer treated Ohio. Like, okay,
[22:39] Speaker 1: nice start, but we're going to need to do a
[22:41] Speaker 1: little bit more. That's what we're going to do. Never
[22:44] Speaker 1: dawned on me that they would lose that game.
[22:45] Speaker 3: Never.
[22:46] Speaker 2: Never dawned on me that they were going to lose
[22:48] Speaker 2: that game.
[22:49] Speaker 1: Now, if I was a different kind of person, I
[22:52] Speaker 1: might raise the point that very recently, Georgia, second greatest
[22:59] Speaker 1: running back in the history of the University of Georgia,
[23:01] Speaker 1: apparently has to have something very in common with the
[23:04] Speaker 1: greatest running back in the history of the.
[23:06] Speaker 2: University of Georgia.
[23:08] Speaker 1: And in support of that same cause, Gunnar Stockton, who
[23:11] Speaker 1: is a little bit less surprising, went to a rally
[23:15] Speaker 1: in Rome, Georgia, to show support.
[23:17] Speaker 3: Oh, I didn't see that. Yeah, yeah.
[23:19] Speaker 2: No, no, no.
[23:20] Speaker 1: Apparently, Magameen No, that don't work. I was going to say,
[23:25] Speaker 1: make a G in Georgia again, but that don't work. Anyway, they, they,
[23:33] Speaker 1: Todd Gurley.
[23:33] Speaker 3: Did G in MAGA stands for Georgia? Is that what
[23:36] Speaker 3: you're going for?
[23:37] Speaker 2: Yes, that's what I'm going for. That's what I'm going for.
[23:39] Speaker 2: M-A with the oval G.
[23:41] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[23:42] Speaker 2: There we go.
[23:43] Speaker 3: Unfortunately, we just gave away a very lucrative merch idea.
[23:47] Speaker 2: Wow, we really did. It would have been just a problem.
[23:50] Speaker 1: On one hand, I'm like, it would have involved serious
[23:52] Speaker 1: copyright infringement. On the other hand, if we offered to
[23:56] Speaker 1: cut the University of Georgia in, I don't think they'd
[23:58] Speaker 1: have any.
[23:58] Speaker 2: Problem with participating. Is red, too? Yeah. I don't think
[24:03] Speaker 2: they'd have no problem.
[24:03] Speaker 3: Red and white, you know.
[24:05] Speaker 1: They would have no problem participating in that. Now, you see,
[24:08] Speaker 1: Tiger only sent the tweet. He's like, damn, I made
[24:09] Speaker 1: Georgia lose because that's what people were saying immediately after.
[24:12] Speaker 2: I didn't ask you that.
[24:14] Speaker 3: It's funny.
[24:14] Speaker 2: Yeah, they went the gutter Stockton one is really interesting
[24:20] Speaker 2: to me.
[24:20] Speaker 1: And all the reason I say that is, and I
[24:22] Speaker 1: guess it's not about making anybody new vote for you.
[24:25] Speaker 1: It's just about rallying the base. But if you looked
[24:28] Speaker 1: up and were like, well, shit, gutter Stockton's there. I
[24:30] Speaker 1: guess I'll be voting for Trump. Let me tell you
[24:33] Speaker 1: what you don't do vote.
[24:34] Speaker 3: Correct.
[24:35] Speaker 1: You're not voting for anybody. No, that's just not, that's
[24:39] Speaker 1: just not an effort that you want to make, but that's,
[24:42] Speaker 1: that's low key, a terrible loss.
[24:44] Speaker 3: It's a terrible loss. Like you said, a loss Kirby
[24:47] Speaker 3: never has.
[24:48] Speaker 2: Never, ever has. That is an awful loss. Oh, man,
[24:53] Speaker 2: it's bad. Look, in Georgia, fun fact, Georgia does not
[24:56] Speaker 2: play Tennessee this year.
[24:58] Speaker 3: Oh, really?
[24:59] Speaker 1: Georgia's three every-year games are Florida, Auburn, and then the
[25:04] Speaker 1: conference decided to give them a break in the game
[25:08] Speaker 1: of Vanderbilt.
[25:12] Speaker 2: Trust me.
[25:13] Speaker 1: I feel like there was some real campaigning going on
[25:16] Speaker 1: about that. But it's kind of how LSU and Florida
[25:17] Speaker 1: got stuck with each other. And that was not nearly
[25:20] Speaker 1: as daunting a proposition for Florida as it was in 1992.
[25:23] Speaker 1: And then by 2003, they're like, hey, hey, hey, man,
[25:29] Speaker 1: we ain't even really got nothing in common with them.
[25:31] Speaker 3: Yeah. You know?
[25:32] Speaker 2: Were you around? I don't think you would have physically
[25:34] Speaker 2: been there.
[25:35] Speaker 1: My favorite of all the crazy Les Miles games of
[25:37] Speaker 1: 2010 was the Florida game at the Swamp.
[25:39] Speaker 3: I was not there, but I have vivid memories.
[25:43] Speaker 1: I'll just never forget asking Urban Meyer after the game
[25:47] Speaker 1: about Les Miles.
[25:47] Speaker 2: This was before we knew Urban was going to quit.
[25:49] Speaker 1: And him just... No, no, next question. Couldn't even bring
[25:52] Speaker 1: himself to talk about it. Couldn't even do it.
[25:55] Speaker 3: Yeah, just the idea of losing to Les at home
[25:59] Speaker 3: just could not.
[26:01] Speaker 1: Throwing laterals off the ground for touchdowns.
[26:07] Speaker 2: That happened. That happened. So that got us all the
[26:11] Speaker 2: way through to 3 o'clock slate.
[26:13] Speaker 1: And then the night slate was crazy with Florida State
[26:16] Speaker 1: almost beating Miami. And look, here's why that might have
[26:21] Speaker 1: been the best sign ever for Miami. You can pretty
[26:24] Speaker 1: much write it down. Mario going to lose y'all a game. Yeah,
[26:28] Speaker 1: you're going to lose a game because Mario's your coach. Now,
[26:31] Speaker 1: I didn't watch enough of this game to know that's
[26:33] Speaker 1: what happened, but that's the only way I could figure
[26:34] Speaker 1: out how Florida State managed to keep that as close
[26:36] Speaker 1: as they did, and it went to double overtime. Because
[26:40] Speaker 1: when I talked about the two best quarterbacks in the country,
[26:42] Speaker 1: one of them is Chambliss, and the other one is Mensah.
[26:46] Speaker 3: I mean... So Florida State gets up early, and then
[26:50] Speaker 3: Miami comes back. And Florida State just keeps throwing haymakers. Yes.
[26:54] Speaker 3: They get up. They throw the big touchdown after Miami
[26:56] Speaker 3: comes back. They come back and score an 80-yard touchdown
[27:00] Speaker 3: right after that. But any game Miami loses, they're one
[27:05] Speaker 3: of the two best quarterbacks. But also, they have the
[27:08] Speaker 3: second-best wide receiver in the country, too.
[27:09] Speaker 2: So I say, so let's get to that part.
[27:11] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[27:12] Speaker 2: Mensah and Malachi Toney. Look to me.
[27:16] Speaker 1: To be the best quarterback plus wide receiver that Miami
[27:20] Speaker 1: has had since Vinny and Michael Irvin. And for my money,
[27:26] Speaker 1: Michael Irvin is the best player in the history of
[27:29] Speaker 1: the program. Like, they had a throw in, I think,
[27:34] Speaker 1: the second quarter.
[27:35] Speaker 2: Maybe it was the first.
[27:37] Speaker 1: Tony is double covered, right?
[27:41] Speaker 2: Quarter's got him, safety over the top.
[27:44] Speaker 1: And Mensah throws this pass directly between them, and Tony
[27:48] Speaker 1: jumps up and catches it.
[27:49] Speaker 2: And I can't tell.
[27:53] Speaker 1: If it just took such balls to throw it or
[27:56] Speaker 1: such accuracy. It was a combination of I can't believe
[27:59] Speaker 1: that anybody involved in this thought that.
[28:01] Speaker 2: This was reasonable.
[28:02] Speaker 3: Except for the two people involved.
[28:04] Speaker 2: Except for the two involved.
[28:05] Speaker 1: I mean, apparently Florida State thought it was reasonable that
[28:08] Speaker 1: it might happen.
[28:09] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[28:10] Speaker 1: And those guys were there, and the ball just, it
[28:12] Speaker 1: was crazy. crazy there now will Mario lose them another
[28:17] Speaker 1: game I don't know I don't know it's just imagine
[28:21] Speaker 1: how hard a time Mario has explaining to people that
[28:24] Speaker 1: no no no I was I'm like I'm a cane
[28:26] Speaker 1: like I.
[28:27] Speaker 2: Was one of those I was on those teams yeah
[28:29] Speaker 2: I was there.
[28:29] Speaker 1: Yeah yeah like I was on them and I'm sure
[28:31] Speaker 1: he loved created a great time minute of it hey
[28:34] Speaker 1: man if you decided you were gonna go play for
[28:36] Speaker 1: them at that point you knew What it was.
[28:40] Speaker 3: And that's what you wanted to do.
[28:42] Speaker 1: The story I want is of all the white dudes
[28:44] Speaker 1: and how much they loved being there.
[28:46] Speaker 2: Right? In those. Like, uh, G-Rig. G-Rig.
[28:53] Speaker 1: He clearly loved it. Vinny Test the Birdie. Like, the, uh,
[28:59] Speaker 1: number two, I mean, off the plane in Phoenix. He
[29:04] Speaker 1: was the second dude off the plane in the fatigues.
[29:06] Speaker 1: He looked like he loved every minute of being with
[29:10] Speaker 1: those guys. Every single minute. Jeremy Shockey, clearly a guy
[29:15] Speaker 1: that was like, my kind of party.
[29:18] Speaker 2: Cristobal, I want to know. I just want to know. Right?
[29:24] Speaker 2: But they look, I will say this though, they look good.
[29:26] Speaker 1: And Cristobal, Cristobal taking Saban Ball to the.
[29:30] Speaker 2: ACC, that feels kind of unfair.
[29:33] Speaker 3: Yeah, that's going to that's going to be a high floor.
[29:35] Speaker 3: Like again, he's going to, he's going to, he's going
[29:37] Speaker 3: to lose a dumb game, but he's also going to
[29:39] Speaker 3: win nine or 10 of them in the ACC by default.
[29:42] Speaker 1: And I was talking to one of my buddies. That's
[29:44] Speaker 1: a big Miami fan. My man, Corey. And he's like,
[29:46] Speaker 1: Hey man, this thing, I know that we going to
[29:49] Speaker 1: have a strong team.
[29:52] Speaker 2: That beats the hell out of people.
[29:55] Speaker 1: It's, As you could say from the less years, it's
[29:58] Speaker 1: fun to know if nothing else, that's what we're going
[29:59] Speaker 1: to do.
[30:00] Speaker 3: If we're going to run the ball that much, we're
[30:01] Speaker 3: going to lean on people.
[30:03] Speaker 2: Yes. Not the worst thing in the world.
[30:05] Speaker 3: Right.
[30:06] Speaker 1: And then BYU beat Notre Dame. Looks like that was
[30:11] Speaker 1: a great game.
[30:12] Speaker 3: It was a great game.
[30:13] Speaker 1: I saw the first part of it, and BYU was
[30:16] Speaker 1: up early. Huge for the Big 12, right?
[30:21] Speaker 2: Yes.
[30:21] Speaker 3: Yes.
[30:22] Speaker 2: Like huge for the big 12.
[30:24] Speaker 3: I can't also, it was, um, it's not, we talked
[30:28] Speaker 3: a little bit about the BYU with, uh, RJ, but
[30:32] Speaker 3: kind of a fun wrinkle to have. I mean, that
[30:35] Speaker 3: place was popping. I mean, that's that biggest, their biggest
[30:38] Speaker 3: game they've had there.
[30:38] Speaker 2: What?
[30:39] Speaker 3: 30 years, 40 years at BYU.
[30:42] Speaker 1: Yes. It's a fair question. It's a fair question. Maybe
[30:49] Speaker 1: the biggest one says they beat Miami in 1990. Yeah.
[30:53] Speaker 2: Huge.
[30:59] Speaker 1: They're almost talking me into being like, wow, this playoff
[31:01] Speaker 1: sure could be great.
[31:03] Speaker 2: And that's the trick.
[31:04] Speaker 3: That's the trick.
[31:05] Speaker 2: That's what they try to do. They got this thing.
[31:07] Speaker 2: But once again, I don't know.
[31:08] Speaker 1: How good any of these teams actually are. And what
[31:13] Speaker 1: I really don't know is how good any of these
[31:15] Speaker 1: quarterbacks are. Like, you guys have been reading about this
[31:18] Speaker 1: CJ Carr guy. From what I saw in that game,
[31:20] Speaker 1: I did not see greatness.
[31:23] Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, it's a lot. I mean, what this
[31:27] Speaker 3: college football with the NIL in the playoff has given
[31:29] Speaker 3: us is spreading out the talent has given us a
[31:31] Speaker 3: lot of very goodness and not a lot of greatness.
[31:33] Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know what?
[31:34] Speaker 1: I guess that's the part that we always have to
[31:36] Speaker 1: remember is that the talent is in more places. And
[31:39] Speaker 1: so you're going to get things like that. And I
[31:42] Speaker 1: suppose there's a certain charm in it.
[31:45] Speaker 3: I guess.
[31:45] Speaker 2: You know what I mean? I like the idea.
[31:48] Speaker 1: I like there being a juggernaut or two.
[31:52] Speaker 2: I'm here for that. Give me that. Last thing. Am
[31:56] Speaker 2: I doing this just so we could put it in
[31:58] Speaker 2: the metadata? Eh, maybe.
[32:02] Speaker 1: Shout out to Colorado because you played a closer game
[32:05] Speaker 1: against a good Utah team.
[32:07] Speaker 2: Than I expected. Hey, throw this out here too, Ryan.
[32:13] Speaker 1: We all thought that they were maybe doing the wrong
[32:16] Speaker 1: thing when they did this, but isn't it possible that
[32:19] Speaker 1: those good folks at Utah were a little bit ahead
[32:21] Speaker 1: of the curve where they decided to let Whittingham go
[32:24] Speaker 1: to keep their, maybe a little bit racist coach in
[32:27] Speaker 1: waiting and put him in charge because Utah looks a lot.
[32:30] Speaker 2: Better than Michigan.
[32:31] Speaker 3: Oh yeah.
[32:33] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[32:34] Speaker 1: And for those who don't know, um, during the pandemic,
[32:38] Speaker 1: Moses Scali, the coach at Utah was the coach in waiting,
[32:41] Speaker 1: but they had find out he used the N word
[32:43] Speaker 1: sometimes when he shouldn't have. And so they made, unmade
[32:47] Speaker 1: him the coach in waiting. Um, before eventually making him
[32:49] Speaker 1: the coaching waiting again. That was during that, that, that
[32:52] Speaker 1: like nine to 18 months of white people cared. And
[32:54] Speaker 1: so they, they took it away from him and then
[32:57] Speaker 1: they gave them back. And then they were getting tired
[33:00] Speaker 1: of waiting on Whittenham to go. And so they got
[33:02] Speaker 1: him out of there so that Scali could have the job.
[33:05] Speaker 1: And now Whittenham is up there at Michigan, not looking great.
[33:08] Speaker 3: Bench in his, you know, number one overall recruit. He did.
[33:12] Speaker 1: And he's going to, he's going to be on the
[33:15] Speaker 1: bench at least for another week. Cause they came back
[33:18] Speaker 1: and won that game against Penn state.
[33:21] Speaker 3: They're going to, that's a terrible, I think they got
[33:24] Speaker 3: Indiana next week too. Yeah.
[33:25] Speaker 1: It's, it's a, it's not a terribly dissimilar situation to
[33:28] Speaker 1: arch right over there. The only difference is none of
[33:31] Speaker 1: us know how much Texas is paying arch. At least
[33:33] Speaker 1: I don't know, but you never hear a number attached
[33:36] Speaker 1: to it. There were numbers attached to price Underwood by people.
[33:39] Speaker 2: Are all numbers.
[33:40] Speaker 3: And do you know where that check is coming from? Yes.
[33:43] Speaker 2: And look, there's still chances for him to get it together.
[33:46] Speaker 1: Again, I was here for the first two years of
[33:48] Speaker 1: Vince Young. I know how quick this can change based
[33:51] Speaker 1: on some schematic stuff or whatever. Like, it doesn't have
[33:54] Speaker 1: to be like this forever. But I think Utah had
[33:56] Speaker 1: the right idea. But Colorado is why we're here. And
[34:00] Speaker 1: they had, what, a 17-point third quarter to get themselves back.
[34:05] Speaker 1: And they had a chance to get down, kick a
[34:07] Speaker 1: time field goal, maybe win. Their quarterback, by the way,
[34:12] Speaker 1: who is Zach Wilson's brother, That's wild. Very curious to
[34:19] Speaker 1: see how he hangs out with some of the fellows
[34:20] Speaker 1: on that team. But anyway, going down the field and
[34:27] Speaker 1: tried to do a little bit too much. And I
[34:29] Speaker 1: can see why he might have tried it, right? He's
[34:31] Speaker 1: coming up to the right side, like near the right hash.
[34:35] Speaker 2: And he's got it. And then he got a bright idea.
[34:38] Speaker 1: I got the pitch. Now, I need you to understand
[34:42] Speaker 1: he's way down the field. We're not talking about an
[34:46] Speaker 1: option play. He's got to pitch. And that pitch, when
[34:50] Speaker 1: you're running that fast, it's hard. That momentum carries you.
[34:54] Speaker 2: And so it.
[34:56] Speaker 1: Was a forward lateral. It didn't go backwards. Colorado lost
[35:02] Speaker 1: the game. I thought they were going to get rocked.
[35:07] Speaker 2: They did not. Good for them. Bench Juju Lewis, right, didn't.
[35:14] Speaker 2: Didn't that happen?
[35:15] Speaker 1: They ran the ball for over five yards to carry,
[35:17] Speaker 1: which is what they had been terrible at so far
[35:19] Speaker 1: this year. Like this was a this was a cause
[35:23] Speaker 1: for optimism game. And maybe it still is a cause
[35:26] Speaker 1: for optimism game.
[35:27] Speaker 2: Except for losing and losing like that.
[35:30] Speaker 1: They lost in a fashion that implies that your coach
[35:33] Speaker 1: isn't good.
[35:38] Speaker 2: I don't know how else to put it. That's what happened.
[35:41] Speaker 1: I haven't had a chance to see how Dion handled
[35:43] Speaker 1: it in the press conference.
[35:44] Speaker 2: My guess, not as well as he should have. That's
[35:48] Speaker 2: what it was.
[35:50] Speaker 1: But now, man, this was a crazy Saturday. Crazy Saturday.
[35:57] Speaker 1: Crazy Saturday. And now we get more of them.
[36:01] Speaker 2: You know why, Ryan? Because the world loves when we
[36:03] Speaker 2: work all weekends.
[36:07] Speaker 3: Yes, they do.
[36:08] Speaker 2: Complaints nobody cares about. Oh, you had.
[36:11] Speaker 1: To wake up in the morning and talk about football
[36:13] Speaker 1: with your friend for a couple of minutes.
[36:15] Speaker 3: How do we manage?
[36:17] Speaker 1: This is actually so real because there's a distinct possibility
[36:19] Speaker 1: that otherwise this would just be a telephone call anyway.
[36:22] Speaker 2: Yes.
