Bomani Jones reacts to a packed week in sports, starting with Victor Wembanyama’s flagrant 2 ejection after elbowing Naz Reid and what it says about the Spurs needing a true “goon.” Bo and Ryan also break down a surprisingly fascinating NBA Draft Lottery, the Wizards landing the No. 1 pick, Utah’s AJ Dybantsa intrigue, and Kevin Pritchard’s wild “due some luck” explanation. Later, Bomani shares his thoughts on Skip Bayless returning to First Take with Stephen A. Smith, why their chemistry still works, and why the criticism of First Take has always been more complicated than people admit. Plus, Bo remembers legendary Braves manager Bobby Cox and what the 1990s Braves meant to him. Learn more about your ad choices. [0:01] Speaker 1: Wave.
[0:09] Speaker 2: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the right time. A wave original.
[0:13] Speaker 2: My name is Bobani Jones. Thanks for listening wherever you
[0:15] Speaker 2: get your podcast. Thanks for watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like,
[0:19] Speaker 2: rate us, review us, give us five stars. You only
[0:21] Speaker 2: give us four stars. I'm inclined to believe you are
[0:24] Speaker 2: a hater. We are going to talk about a surprisingly
[0:28] Speaker 2: fascinating NBA draft lottery in just a minute. But first,
[0:32] Speaker 2: I have to admit, I didn't think our boy Le
[0:37] Speaker 2: Slim had it in him.
[0:39] Speaker 3: And you're like, what is it? And the it is.
[0:42] Speaker 2: Well, I can't say he stole off on Nas Reed
[0:45] Speaker 2: because that gives an improper impression of what really happened.
[0:48] Speaker 3: But he did elbow him in the mouth.
[0:51] Speaker 2: And it's so.
[0:52] Speaker 4: All right.
[0:53] Speaker 3: I want to tell you what was going on when
[0:55] Speaker 3: I was watching this.
[0:56] Speaker 1: Right.
[0:57] Speaker 2: I was on the phone. And so I had the
[1:00] Speaker 2: television on mute as I was watching the game. And.
[1:05] Speaker 2: When I was looking up and seeing things, I saw
[1:09] Speaker 2: Nas Reid hit Victor in the face, right? And I
[1:13] Speaker 2: was like, huh, that's something. And, you know, I was
[1:17] Speaker 2: cutting Victor a measure of slack. I don't know if
[1:19] Speaker 2: slack's the right word, but the bottom line is, for
[1:22] Speaker 2: most people, when they intentionally elbow somebody in.
[1:26] Speaker 3: The mouth, they got to get their elbows up.
[1:29] Speaker 2: And then they do the elbow swing.
[1:31] Speaker 3: From up there, right? I'm looking at it like, okay, Victor,
[1:34] Speaker 3: eight feet tall.
[1:35] Speaker 2: He saw himself as just trying to clear out some space,
[1:38] Speaker 2: except these dudes is way smaller.
[1:40] Speaker 3: Maybe he ain't know what was going on.
[1:42] Speaker 2: Brother, they sent me that video where you got Victor
[1:47] Speaker 2: throwing that elbow and then he hit Nas Reed right
[1:50] Speaker 2: in the grill.
[1:51] Speaker 3: And then you look up and they zoom in on
[1:52] Speaker 3: Dylan Harper. And Dylan Harper is like, whoa, whoa, whoa.
[1:56] Speaker 3: And I was like, oh, no, no, no.
[1:58] Speaker 2: He did this on purpose. There was more plausible deniability
[2:04] Speaker 2: in that time that Ron Artest elbowed James Harden in
[2:10] Speaker 2: the mouth than there was when Victor elbowed Nas Reed, right?
[2:16] Speaker 3: There was more.
[2:17] Speaker 2: And I also want to make this note. In fairness
[2:19] Speaker 2: to Nas Reed, who took that licking and kept on ticking,
[2:22] Speaker 2: I think we have a tendency to talk about Victor
[2:25] Speaker 2: and like, oh boy, he's so skinny. He's so skinny.
[2:28] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[2:30] Speaker 3: And he's also like diesel.
[2:32] Speaker 2: Like, right.
[2:34] Speaker 3: It's very clear to me. That's a strong motherfucker right there.
[2:37] Speaker 2: Like, like that combined with the leverage of that elbow
[2:40] Speaker 2: swinging around.
[2:41] Speaker 4: I mean, like whether or not he's strong, the amount
[2:44] Speaker 4: of limb that comes at you, like just, you know,
[2:47] Speaker 4: basic physics is, how his arm has to travel when
[2:52] Speaker 4: it goes across his body.
[2:53] Speaker 2: Yeah, but he kept it close too. And look, that
[2:55] Speaker 2: look on his face, he had had enough and he
[2:58] Speaker 2: decided that one way or another, he was going to
[3:01] Speaker 2: clear them out and he cleared Nas Reid out.
[3:03] Speaker 3: And the way you really.
[3:04] Speaker 2: Know he did it on purpose is I have never
[3:07] Speaker 2: seen anybody offer less argument over a flagrant to- Less emotion.
[3:13] Speaker 3: Yeah, he was just like, I'm ejected. All right. See
[3:17] Speaker 3: you guys later. And just walked in a tunnel.
[3:20] Speaker 2: Oh, you decided that you were going to send a
[3:22] Speaker 2: message to the league.
[3:25] Speaker 3: In game four, a very important, very important game.
[3:30] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[3:31] Speaker 3: I'm trying to remember me and Shannon got a scale
[3:33] Speaker 3: on these things.
[3:34] Speaker 1: Right.
[3:34] Speaker 3: So it was not a pivotal.
[3:36] Speaker 2: Pivotal is game five. It was not a do or die.
[3:40] Speaker 2: Nobody already had three. Try to remember what the term is.
[3:44] Speaker 4: Must win one of them.
[3:46] Speaker 2: It was a must win for Minnesota. Yes.
[3:48] Speaker 1: Right.
[3:49] Speaker 2: It was a must win for Minnesota, but I'm trying
[3:51] Speaker 2: to remember what.
[3:53] Speaker 3: They were going for was the decisive advantage, right?
[3:56] Speaker 2: Like that's what.
[3:57] Speaker 3: They were going for, but they had it.
[3:59] Speaker 2: And that's a game that even without Victor, they should
[4:02] Speaker 2: have won, but absolutely with him. I think they're probably
[4:04] Speaker 2: going to win. And the truth is you can't do
[4:07] Speaker 2: that in the situation that he's in.
[4:09] Speaker 3: You cost your squad a.
[4:11] Speaker 2: Game in a situation where look, man, I've had people
[4:16] Speaker 2: say to me that I've seen in the YouTube comments, right?
[4:21] Speaker 3: Where they're like, oh, so the Lakers are winning. You
[4:23] Speaker 3: ain't got nothing to say about LeBron.
[4:25] Speaker 2: Well, the Lakers over there getting their asses kicked and
[4:27] Speaker 2: I ain't got nothing to say about them either. OK,
[4:30] Speaker 2: there's just not that much interesting going on with them.
[4:34] Speaker 3: At this point.
[4:34] Speaker 4: We'll get to LeBron in July.
[4:36] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[4:37] Speaker 2: The Thunder are going to get them up out of there.
[4:40] Speaker 2: And then the Thunder's going to go home and they're
[4:42] Speaker 2: going to be posted up and they're going to be resting.
[4:44] Speaker 2: And I don't know what they do to practice. Apparently
[4:47] Speaker 2: they go put on one pieces and wrestle because that's
[4:50] Speaker 2: the kind of basketball they.
[4:51] Speaker 3: Decide they're going to play.
[4:52] Speaker 1: You know what?
[4:52] Speaker 3: They don't wrestle. They wrestle.
[4:54] Speaker 2: That's what they're going to do. They're going to go
[4:55] Speaker 2: out there and they're going to paint their faces and
[4:57] Speaker 2: they're going to get all greasy and shit.
[4:59] Speaker 3: And on one hand, they're going to practice how to
[5:01] Speaker 3: do holds. And on the other hand, they're going to
[5:03] Speaker 3: practice how to sell it.
[5:05] Speaker 5: Right?
[5:05] Speaker 3: You know, that's what they're going to do.
[5:07] Speaker 2: But all I'm saying is They're going to get to
[5:09] Speaker 2: go over there and they're going to rest up. And
[5:12] Speaker 2: chances are that Jalen Williams is going to be back
[5:15] Speaker 2: after having a month of resting up where the hardest
[5:17] Speaker 2: decision that he's had to make is which ridiculous get
[5:20] Speaker 2: up he's going to wear on the sideline. Boy, let
[5:23] Speaker 2: me tell you something right now.
[5:25] Speaker 3: And I get this. I'm 45 years old.
[5:27] Speaker 2: And this is this is something I think everybody needs
[5:29] Speaker 2: to understand that I feel personally about life and everything else.
[5:32] Speaker 2: I'm not supposed to be on the same shit as
[5:34] Speaker 2: these kids.
[5:35] Speaker 1: Of course.
[5:35] Speaker 2: Right. I'm supposed to look at what they wear and
[5:37] Speaker 2: think it's ridiculous. That's that's what I'm supposed to think. Man,
[5:42] Speaker 2: I saw that boy, Jalen Williams, on the sideline with
[5:45] Speaker 2: a pink jacket that looked like a bit of a
[5:46] Speaker 2: crop top.
[5:47] Speaker 3: And I think I saw he had a star on
[5:49] Speaker 3: his face.
[5:50] Speaker 2: Meanwhile, one of them dudes from the Spurs, one of
[5:54] Speaker 2: them last name, last name, Carter Bryant. That's that's that's.
[5:57] Speaker 3: What his name is.
[5:58] Speaker 2: Now, on another day, we talk about my thing with
[6:00] Speaker 2: black people giving their kids white people names.
[6:03] Speaker 3: And yes, last name, last name is white people names.
[6:05] Speaker 1: Right.
[6:05] Speaker 3: And, you know, you're from the South South.
[6:07] Speaker 4: You know exactly what I'm talking about here.
[6:09] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[6:09] Speaker 6: Right. Right.
[6:09] Speaker 2: Like when black people start being like, oh, I'm gonna
[6:11] Speaker 2: give my kids white people names.
[6:12] Speaker 3: They'll get they'll get better jobs.
[6:14] Speaker 2: Nah, no, they won't.
[6:15] Speaker 1: No, they won't.
[6:15] Speaker 2: They're going to show up one day. But anyway, he
[6:18] Speaker 2: was on the ground during the game and his jersey
[6:20] Speaker 2: pulled to the side and that boy had multiple butterflies
[6:23] Speaker 2: tattooed on his back. And I said, what? Like it
[6:28] Speaker 2: wasn't in the middle of the low part of his back.
[6:32] Speaker 2: Hashtag IYKYK. However, it was still multiple butterflies on his back.
[6:37] Speaker 2: And I'm like, that dude that gave you that tattoo
[6:40] Speaker 2: was like, are you sure you want to do this?
[6:43] Speaker 3: Okay, I don't know what the rest of it was, right?
[6:45] Speaker 3: I have no idea.
[6:46] Speaker 4: You just saw the butterflies.
[6:48] Speaker 2: I saw enough to have questions. We were talking about basketball.
[6:54] Speaker 2: Sorry about that. But yeah, Jalen Williams be over there
[6:57] Speaker 2: in them get-ups.
[6:59] Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? He going to be back
[7:01] Speaker 3: probably by the time they play.
[7:04] Speaker 2: And meanwhile, every game the Spurs play is another game
[7:07] Speaker 2: where something can go wrong, right? Every game you play
[7:11] Speaker 2: is a game where somebody might get hurt. Somebody might
[7:13] Speaker 2: get dinged up, whatever it is.
[7:15] Speaker 3: Every game.
[7:16] Speaker 2: My daddy always says about owning a house or just
[7:19] Speaker 2: everything in general. My daddy say everything you own is
[7:22] Speaker 2: a bill waiting to happen. Every game you play is
[7:25] Speaker 2: a bill waiting to happen. And they needed to hurry
[7:28] Speaker 2: up and be done with this. OK, it was bad enough.
[7:31] Speaker 2: They lost that game one in their own house. They
[7:33] Speaker 2: needed to hurry up and be done with this. And
[7:35] Speaker 2: part of why they're not done with this is because
[7:37] Speaker 2: Victor lost his cool and you can't do that. On
[7:40] Speaker 2: the other hand, I do respect the goonery of it. Like,
[7:44] Speaker 2: I really respect the fact that he was.
[7:46] Speaker 3: Like, no, I elbowed him in the head, and now
[7:48] Speaker 3: I'm going to go back and take a shower. Here
[7:51] Speaker 3: for it.
[7:52] Speaker 2: My question for the Spurs is, how y'all ain't got
[7:55] Speaker 2: no goon? How is there not one person on your
[7:59] Speaker 2: team whose job it is to goon?
[8:02] Speaker 4: Luke Cornett's not the goon?
[8:05] Speaker 3: He could be if he decided.
[8:06] Speaker 2: Now, look, in this NBA, anybody can be a goon.
[8:10] Speaker 2: Anybody can be a goon because nobody gonna fight.
[8:13] Speaker 6: Right?
[8:13] Speaker 2: Like, I feel like everybody in the NBA could basically
[8:15] Speaker 2: treat this like it's a new school. And you just
[8:19] Speaker 2: go find somebody to establish who you are out here
[8:22] Speaker 2: in these streets. But outside of the Detroit Pistons, it
[8:26] Speaker 2: don't seem like anybody got a goon out here.
[8:29] Speaker 3: And the Spurs clearly need a goon.
[8:32] Speaker 4: Is Lou Dort not a goon?
[8:34] Speaker 2: No, Lou Dort's a goon. Now, the problem with the
[8:37] Speaker 2: Thunder is, is that They don't have a goon because
[8:40] Speaker 2: they have an ethos of goonery, right? But yeah, Lou
[8:44] Speaker 2: Dort is the closest thing to an outright goon. I'll
[8:48] Speaker 2: put it to you like this. I think you know
[8:50] Speaker 2: that it's on the board that if you do something
[8:52] Speaker 2: to Shea, the one person that you really don't want
[8:54] Speaker 2: any problems with is the off-ball linebacker himself, Lou Dort.
[8:59] Speaker 2: Lou Dort might as well play football with a hand
[9:02] Speaker 2: in the dirt. Like that's his whole situation. He must
[9:06] Speaker 2: be terrible. Either he terrible at hockey or the white
[9:08] Speaker 2: people up there don't let us play. Because otherwise, I
[9:11] Speaker 2: don't understand how he out here playing basketball. I said
[9:14] Speaker 2: something once people got mad at me about this, and
[9:16] Speaker 2: I don't know why they misunderstood this.
[9:18] Speaker 3: If Lou Dort was from Mississippi, Lou Dort's in the NFL.
[9:21] Speaker 4: Oh, for sure.
[9:22] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, that's what it is.
[9:24] Speaker 4: Lou Dort is filling A-gaps.
[9:26] Speaker 2: Yes, yes, yes.
[9:27] Speaker 4: Or rushing the pass.
[9:28] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. I don't know what Lou Dort actually does
[9:31] Speaker 2: in basketball other than goon.
[9:33] Speaker 3: That's it. But beef stew up there in Detroit.
[9:36] Speaker 2: They need one of those in San Antonio because all
[9:39] Speaker 2: anybody can do to stop this cat is to knock
[9:42] Speaker 2: him around.
[9:43] Speaker 3: That's the only option.
[9:45] Speaker 2: And he just got sick of it. It took Shaq
[9:47] Speaker 2: eight years, nine years before he tried something like this.
[9:51] Speaker 2: And that was when he took that swing at Brad
[9:54] Speaker 2: Miller that for the sake of all parties involved, it's
[9:57] Speaker 2: a good thing he did not connect because Shaq would
[9:59] Speaker 2: still be at Joliet right now. He would be behind
[10:06] Speaker 2: bars right now if he had connected on that punch
[10:10] Speaker 2: with Brad Miller. They'd have had to make Brad Miller,
[10:12] Speaker 2: the Bulls would have had to retire Brad Miller's jersey.
[10:16] Speaker 3: They might have even made him the logo.
[10:19] Speaker 2: If Shaq had connected that punch. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That
[10:27] Speaker 2: would be the memorial to Brad Miller would be at
[10:29] Speaker 2: the United Senate. It would be a chalk outline on
[10:32] Speaker 2: the floor. Like imagine that they couldn't take it off.
[10:34] Speaker 2: They couldn't take the outline off the floor until they
[10:36] Speaker 2: had completed the investigation. They still playing games out there.
[10:39] Speaker 3: They got tape on the ground.
[10:41] Speaker 2: Brad Miller laying out on the ground, his head over here,
[10:44] Speaker 2: the rest of his body over there like that.
[10:46] Speaker 3: That's what it would have taken in order to do that.
[10:48] Speaker 2: But now you got everybody got to have a goon
[10:51] Speaker 2: like this is not a league that's supposed to be
[10:53] Speaker 2: completely and totally absent of goons.
[10:56] Speaker 3: He should not have to be his own goon.
[10:59] Speaker 2: Somebody else should have stepped up very much clearer and
[11:02] Speaker 2: been like, hey, hey, hey, we don't tolerate this. And
[11:04] Speaker 2: it's not like they don't follow this man.
[11:07] Speaker 3: It's not like they don't run behind this man, right?
[11:09] Speaker 3: It's not like they got an issue with him.
[11:11] Speaker 2: It's not like when he first got there, when they
[11:13] Speaker 2: had Cisco and them other haters that ain't even want
[11:15] Speaker 2: to throw oops to him.
[11:17] Speaker 3: Everybody seems to be on board, right?
[11:20] Speaker 2: How is nobody's job to go fight Nas Reed or
[11:23] Speaker 2: whoever it was for Victor? It doesn't make any sense.
[11:31] Speaker 2: Somebody needs to be on the job. Like, it should.
[11:35] Speaker 3: Be some dreadhead brothers in the lobby.
[11:38] Speaker 2: They got a bunch of them dreadhead cats. Ain't none
[11:40] Speaker 2: of them. Castle, Vassal, ain't none of y'all.
[11:43] Speaker 3: It's Vassell, my bad.
[11:45] Speaker 4: I like Castle and Vassal.
[11:47] Speaker 2: How about we start calling them Cassell and Vassal? Just
[11:50] Speaker 2: throw people off, right? But somebody's supposed to be the problem.
[11:55] Speaker 2: He cannot do that for himself. That's where this NBA
[12:01] Speaker 2: has gone to places that are just too far for me. Honestly,
[12:04] Speaker 2: if I'm the Spurs, I'd trade two first-round picks to
[12:06] Speaker 2: get Beef Stew down there. Can you imagine if they
[12:09] Speaker 2: had Beef Stew? Dude, can you imagine the ovation to
[12:12] Speaker 2: Beef Stew? We get every time, man, we need to
[12:15] Speaker 2: talk to my man, Bruce. I wonder, I got to
[12:17] Speaker 2: call Bruce. Find out what he thought about that.
[12:19] Speaker 4: I'm sure Bruce Bowen's got takes.
[12:21] Speaker 3: Oh, I'm sure he does.
[12:22] Speaker 4: I'm sure he has.
[12:23] Speaker 3: Positive.
[12:24] Speaker 4: Bruce might have taught him that move.
[12:28] Speaker 3: Nah, Bruce is a little more subtle.
[12:30] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[12:31] Speaker 4: That would be Bruce's frustration is he was too obvious
[12:35] Speaker 4: with it.
[12:35] Speaker 2: Yeah, Bruce would have taught him, now see what you
[12:37] Speaker 2: got to do is just put your foot right there.
[12:39] Speaker 2: Not that far, not that far.
[12:40] Speaker 1: Just right.
[12:42] Speaker 3: See how your knee right there by the thigh bone? See, see, see.
[12:46] Speaker 2: Now Bruce is going to call me and start talking
[12:48] Speaker 2: about how he had to talk to his therapist about
[12:51] Speaker 2: me and what happened. Also in that game, as much
[12:54] Speaker 2: as they used to say, dude, shout out to Anthony Edwards, man.
[12:57] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[12:58] Speaker 2: Was it 36 last night?
[12:59] Speaker 4: 36 on one leg.
[13:00] Speaker 2: 36 on one leg. He's going to the tunnel and
[13:02] Speaker 2: getting oxygen in between and everything else. I love that team, man.
[13:07] Speaker 2: They're not good enough to do enough. But I really, really,
[13:12] Speaker 2: really like them. And their whole get down and everything else.
[13:15] Speaker 2: They a squad full of dudes that go hard.
[13:18] Speaker 3: And Julius Randle.
[13:20] Speaker 2: And it is great to see what they're doing and
[13:24] Speaker 2: how they're doing it. But the bottom line is the
[13:26] Speaker 2: Spurs should have dispatched of them and be in here
[13:29] Speaker 2: resting and allowing us to rest. Because Ryan, we wrapping
[13:33] Speaker 2: shit up. We going to talk about some of this
[13:35] Speaker 2: a little bit later, I suppose. The Knicks... Got him
[13:39] Speaker 2: up out of there. I am imagining that the Thunder
[13:42] Speaker 2: going to get to Laker. It's going to be a,
[13:43] Speaker 2: I mean, that was a, that was a one, two,
[13:45] Speaker 2: three Cancun classic in Philadelphia, boy.
[13:47] Speaker 7: Oh man.
[13:48] Speaker 2: That was a, I, I, I didn't even bother to
[13:51] Speaker 2: watch the game. I went to go see the Michael
[13:52] Speaker 2: Jackson movie.
[13:54] Speaker 3: Cause I was just like, for what?
[13:55] Speaker 1: Right.
[13:56] Speaker 2: And then I looked at the score during the movie
[13:58] Speaker 2: and I.
[13:58] Speaker 3: Was like, oh, they got a direct flight for Philly
[14:00] Speaker 3: to Cancun. I didn't know they had flights to Cancun
[14:02] Speaker 3: that late. But Dave's like, this motherfucker's like, yo, we
[14:04] Speaker 3: got a flight to catch us up.
[14:05] Speaker 4: I mean, that was a 3.30 tip. They were trying
[14:07] Speaker 4: to make their 8 o'clock flight.
[14:08] Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[14:09] Speaker 3: They're like, hey, hey, hey, we got to go.
[14:10] Speaker 2: No, no, no. No media.
[14:12] Speaker 3: No media. Just box up my locker.
[14:14] Speaker 2: Just send it to me. I don't even need to.
[14:16] Speaker 2: I don't need to be back for that. I guess
[14:18] Speaker 2: we're going to see what happens with the Cavs and
[14:21] Speaker 2: the Pistons. The Pistons, we're going to see if they
[14:22] Speaker 2: want to get them out of there. Jim Harden decided
[14:24] Speaker 2: to show up and play a little bit, just enough basketball,
[14:27] Speaker 2: so we can say he played a little bit of
[14:28] Speaker 2: basketball today. But now everybody's trying to get this out
[14:32] Speaker 2: of here so we can get ourselves a couple of
[14:34] Speaker 2: nights to get ready for the conference finals where we
[14:36] Speaker 2: only got one game per night.
[14:38] Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? We could all make 30 tips.
[14:40] Speaker 2: We could be crisp. We could be at our best.
[14:43] Speaker 2: But now Victor had to prove a point to somebody.
[14:48] Speaker 2: But I love that he did. All right, so they
[14:56] Speaker 2: really be trying to make too much of the draft lottery.
[14:58] Speaker 2: Can I just go ahead and say that now? Like
[15:00] Speaker 2: back in the day, all we need is the draft
[15:03] Speaker 2: lottery back when it just looked like the Godfather scene
[15:07] Speaker 2: at the train station where they was talking about selling dope. Yeah.
[15:10] Speaker 3: Where they just go around and you get like Bruno Tattaglia.
[15:13] Speaker 2: Combing his hair and they just identify all the people
[15:15] Speaker 2: in the same scene in.
[15:16] Speaker 3: Godfather 2 in Cuba.
[15:18] Speaker 6: Yeah.
[15:19] Speaker 2: And they just went around and talked about everybody that
[15:21] Speaker 2: was there.
[15:22] Speaker 3: That's all we need the lottery to be. It looked
[15:24] Speaker 3: like it was 15,000 people there. Like, what was this
[15:27] Speaker 3: huge audience?
[15:29] Speaker 4: Got all the players there.
[15:31] Speaker 6: Yeah.
[15:31] Speaker 4: I do like seeing the random folks, representatives from each team.
[15:35] Speaker 4: It's like, oh, Tayshaun Prince. I know he worked for
[15:37] Speaker 4: the Grizzlies.
[15:39] Speaker 3: So that I appreciate, right? And when they're like, hey,
[15:42] Speaker 3: could you go sit there for us, John Wall?
[15:44] Speaker 8: Yeah.
[15:45] Speaker 2: Hey, Khan, what you up to, bro? You doing anything?
[15:48] Speaker 2: You doing anything for Mother's Day? Well, me and my mom, yeah, anyway,
[15:51] Speaker 2: we was just hoping if you could be a good
[15:52] Speaker 2: luck charm, perhaps, and go with us.
[15:54] Speaker 3: To the draft, right?
[15:55] Speaker 2: But all those other people who were there, I get
[15:58] Speaker 2: it in the sense that I guess it's an opportunity
[16:02] Speaker 2: to introduce the audience to the players, but they're not hooping.
[16:06] Speaker 2: They're just tall in suits. They could be anybody. out
[16:10] Speaker 2: there you know and they get to play up and
[16:13] Speaker 2: this this gets on my nerves too man you know
[16:15] Speaker 2: this is really about the mothers no it's not it's
[16:18] Speaker 2: mother's day but this ain't about them do you.
[16:19] Speaker 4: Think that's where they want to be yeah.
[16:22] Speaker 2: Great point great boy they ain't get no ain't no
[16:25] Speaker 2: check today like this is this is some let me
[16:28] Speaker 2: know like these pancakes still still raw in the middle Right,
[16:34] Speaker 2: like all this is is flipping the pancake. Breakfast is
[16:38] Speaker 2: not ready. Why are we here? But anyway, the lottery
[16:43] Speaker 2: goes through. The Washington Wizards got the number one pick.
[16:48] Speaker 2: The Utah Jazz are at number two. The Memphis Grizzlies
[16:52] Speaker 2: were at number three. Number four was.
[16:56] Speaker 3: Chicago Bulls.
[16:57] Speaker 2: Chicago Bulls. And number five is the Los Angeles Clippers.
[17:01] Speaker 8: Okay.
[17:01] Speaker 2: Okay. The lottery did turn out to be interesting on
[17:05] Speaker 2: a few levels, okay? Number one, John Wall, I don't
[17:10] Speaker 2: know if you remember 30 years ago when the Sixers
[17:13] Speaker 2: won the lottery and Pat Croce went and dapped up everybody.
[17:16] Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a little before my time.
[17:18] Speaker 3: That was at the podium.
[17:19] Speaker 2: I mean, Pat Croce was that guy, but Pat Croce
[17:21] Speaker 2: could not have possibly been happier. John Wall did not
[17:27] Speaker 2: seem to care a single solitary iota about about the
[17:31] Speaker 2: fact that they had won this lottery in a draft
[17:33] Speaker 2: that's got, in my estimation, three guys you'd love to
[17:38] Speaker 2: have as the number one pick. That would be Debonza, A.J. Debonza,
[17:44] Speaker 2: Darren Peterson, even with all the other stuff, right? I
[17:47] Speaker 2: think you're still pretty happy to get Darren Peterson.
[17:49] Speaker 3: And Caleb Wilson.
[17:51] Speaker 2: No, I do not have Cam Boozer on that list.
[17:55] Speaker 2: Cam Boozer looked like he had to work a little
[17:57] Speaker 2: bit too hard to get his buckets in college. And
[17:59] Speaker 2: I know I said this about Paolo Bancaro and people
[18:02] Speaker 2: thought I was just hating. And yes, both those dudes
[18:03] Speaker 2: went to Duke, but it should look easy when you're
[18:06] Speaker 2: in college. It did not look easy with Cam Boozer
[18:10] Speaker 2: in college. Like that's not, it's not a number one
[18:13] Speaker 2: compared to those other guys. Those guys have the potential
[18:16] Speaker 2: to be superstars. Cam Boozer will probably.
[18:19] Speaker 3: Be an all-star.
[18:20] Speaker 6: Right.
[18:21] Speaker 3: But he's not. I don't see it with those guys.
[18:24] Speaker 2: De Bonza is interesting to me because for those who
[18:28] Speaker 2: have not been paying attention, he went to high school
[18:31] Speaker 2: in Utah. He played for BYU because a gentleman named
[18:36] Speaker 2: Ryan Smith got him to the school in Utah and
[18:39] Speaker 2: then got him to BYU because it's the NIL world.
[18:42] Speaker 2: For those of you who don't know what Ryan Smith does,
[18:46] Speaker 2: he's the owner of the Utah Jazz. I don't get
[18:49] Speaker 2: the feeling that he put in this level of investment
[18:52] Speaker 2: just because he loved BYU that much. If you are
[18:56] Speaker 2: the Wizards and you are sold on Debonza, who to
[19:00] Speaker 2: me is the clear number one pick from what I've seen.
[19:04] Speaker 2: If that's your guy, what would it take for you
[19:08] Speaker 2: to move down to number two?
[19:10] Speaker 3: Because Utah is going to go to the playoffs next year.
[19:13] Speaker 3: They're not going to be bad.
[19:14] Speaker 2: So you can't just be like, oh, give us your
[19:16] Speaker 2: pick from next year. That's not going to work out. Like,
[19:18] Speaker 2: it's going to work out where they got whatever, if
[19:21] Speaker 2: you were to make this trade, right? You got DeBonsa,
[19:24] Speaker 2: Walker Kessler, who everybody wants to have and everybody wants
[19:28] Speaker 2: to trade for, but has been on these terrible teams.
[19:30] Speaker 2: Now you'll get to actually be good at basketball and
[19:32] Speaker 2: do things for a team that wants to be good
[19:34] Speaker 2: at basketball.
[19:35] Speaker 3: Jaron Jackson is on that roster.
[19:37] Speaker 4: Ace Bailey.
[19:38] Speaker 1: Ace Bailey.
[19:39] Speaker 2: Keontae George, who's at a borderline all-star sort of place.
[19:43] Speaker 2: What do you need to get back in order to
[19:45] Speaker 2: make that move? Because I think you got a live
[19:48] Speaker 2: one in Smith. and that you could, what's he willing
[19:52] Speaker 2: to give up?
[19:53] Speaker 3: What will you take? Because you're just not.
[19:55] Speaker 2: Going to convince me that he's just going to be
[19:56] Speaker 2: satisfied after all of this to not make a try
[20:01] Speaker 2: at getting to Boston.
[20:01] Speaker 4: Not make an offer. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[20:04] Speaker 3: Something's got to happen there.
[20:05] Speaker 2: Meanwhile, for the Wizards, I don't know what they're going
[20:09] Speaker 2: to do ultimately with Anthony Davis and Trey Young. But
[20:15] Speaker 2: those two guys went to Bonsa. That feels like a
[20:16] Speaker 2: playoff team.
[20:18] Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a real NBA team.
[20:20] Speaker 2: Yeah, they're an actual factual NBA team that will not
[20:22] Speaker 2: win 50 games because I'm 45 years old and the
[20:25] Speaker 2: Wizards haven't won 50 games in my life. I have
[20:31] Speaker 2: been using that stat for nearly 20 years in this job,
[20:36] Speaker 2: and it still hits like it did the first time.
[20:39] Speaker 4: It's incredible.
[20:40] Speaker 2: It just keeps happening. But something happened also in this
[20:46] Speaker 2: lottery that was interesting, which is the Indiana Pacers made
[20:52] Speaker 2: a trade for Ivica Zubats this year, who played for
[20:58] Speaker 2: the Clippers.
[21:01] Speaker 3: Big man, good player, okay? Here's what the haul now is, right?
[21:06] Speaker 2: The trade. Evita Zubat and Kobe Brown went to the
[21:09] Speaker 2: Clippers in return for Benedict Mathurin, who I thought was
[21:13] Speaker 2: going to be a good player. Isaiah Jackson, the number
[21:19] Speaker 2: five pick in the draft. There's a 2029 first round
[21:24] Speaker 2: pick that's involved in this.
[21:26] Speaker 3: And I think it might be another pick.
[21:29] Speaker 2: Right. And so the thing with the pick was there
[21:31] Speaker 2: was some protection scheme in play that if the pick
[21:34] Speaker 2: was between five and nine and went to the Clippers,
[21:37] Speaker 2: if it was in the ping pong or outside, it
[21:40] Speaker 2: went to Indiana. OK.
[21:43] Speaker 3: They lost.
[21:43] Speaker 2: They're all snake eyes.
[21:45] Speaker 3: The pick goes to the Clippers.
[21:46] Speaker 2: Big win for them because you can still get a
[21:48] Speaker 2: very good player at the number five pick in this
[21:51] Speaker 2: draft that everybody did all the taking in the world for.
[21:53] Speaker 3: Put a pin in the thought about all the taking
[21:55] Speaker 3: in the world. But anyway, you still have this possibility.
[21:59] Speaker 2: Kevin Pritchard, who used to be the GM in Portland
[22:02] Speaker 2: and is now the GM in Indiana. He sent a
[22:07] Speaker 2: tweet apologizing for making that trade. Apologizing for making that
[22:16] Speaker 2: trade after the pick didn't go their way. And his
[22:19] Speaker 2: explanation for why he apologized, or no, the explanation for
[22:22] Speaker 2: why the trade. And Ryan, you tell him that if
[22:27] Speaker 2: I'm lying, I'm flying. He just thought that they were, quote,
[22:32] Speaker 2: do some luck, unquote. So, so we're clear. If you
[22:38] Speaker 2: believe this explanation, he made that trade feeling certain that
[22:42] Speaker 2: the Pacers were going to get to keep their pick.
[22:45] Speaker 2: And the reason was they were due some good luck.
[22:51] Speaker 4: To be clear, this is not reported. This is his
[22:53] Speaker 4: words on the Twitter.
[22:54] Speaker 2: Yes. He said, quote, do some luck, unquote. I would
[23:03] Speaker 2: fire him today.
[23:06] Speaker 3: That's the dumbest shit I've ever heard in my life.
[23:09] Speaker 2: And a couple weeks ago, somebody said to my face
[23:12] Speaker 2: that the characters in The Wire didn't have no depth.
[23:16] Speaker 2: I don't want you to think I say that every
[23:18] Speaker 2: time I hear something that I think something's the dumbest
[23:20] Speaker 2: shit in my life. No, there's a new champion. The
[23:23] Speaker 2: new champion is Kevin Pritchard. He just thought that we
[23:27] Speaker 2: would do some luck. And look, man, me and Ryan
[23:30] Speaker 2: talked about this during the break. If he had said,
[23:34] Speaker 2: I thought God was on our side, I'd have been
[23:37] Speaker 2: more okay with that.
[23:39] Speaker 3: And I'm going to tell you why.
[23:41] Speaker 2: Because people don't think God is luck. He thinks God
[23:45] Speaker 2: is real. If you say that, and maybe you just
[23:48] Speaker 2: read the tea leaves wrong.
[23:49] Speaker 3: Or whatever it was.
[23:51] Speaker 2: Kevin Pritchard truly believed we're due was a strategy.
[23:58] Speaker 4: That's 100%, you know, going all in because we're going
[24:01] Speaker 4: to win this hand. Yes, yes.
[24:03] Speaker 2: I mean, I can't lose nine hands in a row.
[24:07] Speaker 1: Right.
[24:08] Speaker 2: So put the rest of the money on this one.
[24:10] Speaker 4: Exactly. We're due for good cards.
[24:13] Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah.
[24:14] Speaker 3: He did that with, nah, man, when this happens and
[24:17] Speaker 3: you lost, what do you say to the fans?
[24:20] Speaker 2: Nothing.
[24:21] Speaker 3: Nothing at all. We have nothing to talk about.
[24:24] Speaker 2: If we had had a pick, we'd have something to
[24:26] Speaker 2: talk about. We don't have a pick. We have nothing
[24:29] Speaker 2: to talk about. I feel bad for him in this regard.
[24:32] Speaker 2: People in Indiana had been figuring it out, boy. They
[24:36] Speaker 2: had been like, hey, man, boy, we get that top
[24:39] Speaker 2: four pick. Halliburton comes back. Our roster going to be loaded.
[24:42] Speaker 2: We might have DeBonsa. We might have all these people.
[24:45] Speaker 2: And they came back with nothing. Nothing but a handful
[24:49] Speaker 2: of meat. That's all they came back with. That had
[24:52] Speaker 2: to be terrible. Shout out to the league, though, because, man,
[24:56] Speaker 2: We thought Oklahoma City, the way things had been going. Now,
[24:59] Speaker 2: they'll just simply have a lottery pick, right? They have
[25:02] Speaker 2: a dude named A.J. Mitchell, of whom I had never heard,
[25:06] Speaker 2: who was a second-round pick, who had 24 points or
[25:08] Speaker 2: something like that the other day. They out here finding
[25:11] Speaker 2: dudes off the street, and they got a lottery pick.
[25:15] Speaker 3: They're getting the stupid Sixers to give them Jared.
[25:17] Speaker 2: McCain for a first-round pick they obviously don't need. And
[25:21] Speaker 2: they got another first-round pick. That's... That's what we got.
[25:28] Speaker 2: And we also got out of this lottery your explanation
[25:30] Speaker 2: for why it is that the league wanted to flatten
[25:34] Speaker 2: the lottery odds and all this stuff. Because through the years,
[25:37] Speaker 2: tanking hadn't really been effective for anybody. Hadn't really gotten
[25:41] Speaker 2: anybody what they were looking for. And this year, all
[25:46] Speaker 2: the teams that we saw shamelessly tank. The ones we
[25:50] Speaker 2: saw tank probably the most shamelessly. Washington, Utah, Memphis. One, two, three. Or,
[26:01] Speaker 2: and I guess this doesn't matter because it wasn't their pick,
[26:04] Speaker 2: the Clippers who traded James Harden after they started picking
[26:06] Speaker 2: their season up. Like, the cheaters never prosper.
[26:11] Speaker 8: Nah, nah, nah.
[26:11] Speaker 2: That hasn't been what this has looked like.
[26:15] Speaker 3: That's not what this has been. Did you look at
[26:17] Speaker 3: the Atlantic article on Adam Silver, by the way?
[26:20] Speaker 4: I have not. It is on my list, but I'm
[26:22] Speaker 4: a big Tim Alberta guy, so I'm excited to read it.
[26:24] Speaker 2: Okay. I didn't think he did good with this.
[26:27] Speaker 4: Interesting.
[26:27] Speaker 3: Well, I thought it was supposed to be an article
[26:31] Speaker 3: about Adam Silk.
[26:32] Speaker 4: Yeah. I mean, he's not a, he's not a traditional
[26:34] Speaker 4: sports writer. So it's very, I'm very interested to see
[26:37] Speaker 4: what your criticism is.
[26:38] Speaker 2: It was way too much about Tim Alberta, way too
[26:41] Speaker 2: much first person. Yeah. And I think anybody who wrote
[26:43] Speaker 2: the piece I wrote, read the piece I wrote for
[26:45] Speaker 2: Vanity Fair, you will, you can glean from that my
[26:48] Speaker 2: feelings about first person stuff in profiles of other people.
[26:53] Speaker 3: Um, It made some interesting points, right?
[26:55] Speaker 2: It did feel a little bit too much like, why
[26:58] Speaker 2: isn't this the NBA that I used to love, which
[27:00] Speaker 2: I don't think is an adequate grievance against the league necessarily.
[27:04] Speaker 3: I think it made.
[27:06] Speaker 2: A lot of points about what it didn't like about
[27:08] Speaker 2: the league, but did not really support or give a
[27:11] Speaker 2: proper evidentiary basis for what it was. It raises the question, basically,
[27:15] Speaker 2: is Adam Silver too nice to be the commissioner, which
[27:17] Speaker 2: I think is a fair question. It raised the question
[27:21] Speaker 2: as to whether or not the only thing Adam Silver
[27:22] Speaker 2: cares about with this league is money, which I don't
[27:26] Speaker 2: think is true. I think one thing Adam Silver cares
[27:28] Speaker 2: very much so about in this league is the players
[27:32] Speaker 2: in the league and their well-being and whether this league
[27:34] Speaker 2: is serving them as partners. Now, whether that's the job
[27:37] Speaker 2: of the commissioner, that is a very interesting question.
[27:42] Speaker 4: Do you not think serving the players and making the
[27:45] Speaker 4: most money is the same thing as the players are
[27:48] Speaker 4: entitled to?
[27:49] Speaker 2: Well, Adam is the guy to talk about their mental
[27:51] Speaker 2: health and things like that, for example. Them as formed
[27:54] Speaker 2: human beings, not simply as people who are looking to
[27:59] Speaker 2: make money. But this lottery proves the difficulty of this job, man.
[28:04] Speaker 2: This is a draft that people think has four, maybe
[28:07] Speaker 2: five perennial all-star type players. And when I say perennial,
[28:12] Speaker 2: I mean like seven, eight, nine, ten-time all-star type players.
[28:16] Speaker 2: Regardless of what I think of Boozer, that's what people think.
[28:19] Speaker 2: And those guys are going to Washington, which is actually,
[28:24] Speaker 2: I think.
[28:24] Speaker 3: Very good for the league. But Memphis, Utah, the Clippers,
[28:29] Speaker 3: not bad for the league, but you'd rather them go
[28:32] Speaker 3: to the Lakers.
[28:34] Speaker 4: I mean, Chicago hasn't been well-run.
[28:37] Speaker 2: Chicago had Michael Jordan that one time.
[28:39] Speaker 8: Yeah.
[28:41] Speaker 6: Right?
[28:41] Speaker 2: Like I've said before, There is not a nation of
[28:47] Speaker 2: Bulls fans, even after all that time with Michael Jordan.
[28:49] Speaker 2: How crazy is that?
[28:51] Speaker 4: Feels impossible.
[28:52] Speaker 2: Right. There are still a nation of Georgetown fans. You
[28:55] Speaker 2: don't hear about them very much because they don't come up.
[28:57] Speaker 2: But everybody left the Bulls after Mike left. For whatever
[29:01] Speaker 2: it is, right? Like that thing happened.
[29:03] Speaker 3: But no, man, it's a tricky, tricky, tricky, tricky job.
[29:08] Speaker 2: And in a league where David Stern used to say
[29:10] Speaker 2: that his dream NBA finals is the Lakers and the Lakers.
[29:14] Speaker 2: You're sending guys to Utah and Memphis. Well, well, at
[29:19] Speaker 2: least we can watch them on all the streaming services.
[29:22] Speaker 2: Let me tell you one more thing about that article, Ryan.
[29:24] Speaker 2: Tim Alberta made the point. It starts off with him
[29:26] Speaker 2: having to track down Adam Silver and how Silver wouldn't
[29:29] Speaker 2: do the interview with him unless Mike Bass, the PR man,
[29:31] Speaker 2: said it was okay. And Mike Bass kept saying no,
[29:33] Speaker 2: and Adam Silver's like, hey, he's you know he says
[29:35] Speaker 2: we can't do it all this stuff and they described
[29:40] Speaker 2: silver as being like covered in bubble wrap that they
[29:44] Speaker 2: worked very hard to protect him and should i be
[29:50] Speaker 2: offended that the nba has consented to be adam interviewing
[29:53] Speaker 2: adam silver not once but twice like y'all saying i'm
[29:57] Speaker 2: soft Is that what this is?
[29:58] Speaker 3: Y'all saying, y'all got to be scared of me?
[30:00] Speaker 2: A little humbling. Just a little. You can predict the

[33:44] Speaker 7: Now, if you haven't heard.
[33:47] Speaker 4: All right, Bo, if you haven't heard, on Friday was
[33:51] Speaker 4: the reunion of Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith on
[33:53] Speaker 4: First Take. People have seemed to very much have different
[33:59] Speaker 4: opinions of bringing back the show for the first time
[34:02] Speaker 4: in 10 years online. What did you think?
[34:04] Speaker 2: Okay, so I watched the show. And I watch first
[34:09] Speaker 2: take fairly regularly.
[34:11] Speaker 3: I'm at home, right?
[34:12] Speaker 2: I work in sports. It comes on. I have consistently
[34:16] Speaker 2: watched it, you know, for however many years I have
[34:18] Speaker 2: appeared on the show at different points. I have histories,
[34:22] Speaker 2: not always good with both of those guys, right? I
[34:27] Speaker 2: have always felt about the class of people who critique
[34:32] Speaker 2: sports media when they talk about first take that, First
[34:38] Speaker 2: take is an easy scapegoat for them. Because as another
[34:40] Speaker 2: buddy of mine who covers the media has made a
[34:42] Speaker 2: very important point, and I think it's worth noting, what's
[34:46] Speaker 2: really the difference between first take and PTI? They're built
[34:52] Speaker 2: very similarly. PTI, obviously the difference is 30 minutes versus
[34:56] Speaker 2: two hours, and PTI is a much more regimented show. Boom, boom, boom.
[34:59] Speaker 2: We're going to get to all these things or whatever
[35:01] Speaker 2: it is. But you're telling me, Mike and Tony, don't
[35:03] Speaker 2: be hollering at each other.
[35:04] Speaker 1: Right.
[35:04] Speaker 3: You're telling me that.
[35:05] Speaker 2: There's no room for hyperbole there. You're telling me there's
[35:08] Speaker 2: no discussion about legacy there. You're telling me that Michael
[35:10] Speaker 2: Wilbon is never going to get up there and tell
[35:12] Speaker 2: you how LeBron James will never be as good as
[35:14] Speaker 2: Michael Jordan.
[35:15] Speaker 6: Right.
[35:15] Speaker 2: Like you're telling me none of those things ever happened there.
[35:17] Speaker 2: Those guys are not going to have a discussion about
[35:19] Speaker 2: whether somebody quit or any of those things. Like, are
[35:22] Speaker 2: you are you really trying to tell me that? Because
[35:25] Speaker 2: I don't think that's true. And I don't say that
[35:27] Speaker 2: as a criticism of those guys and obviously the people
[35:29] Speaker 2: that were in that show. I've worked with them or
[35:32] Speaker 2: known them for over 15 years, okay? This isn't a
[35:35] Speaker 2: criticism of them. This is a criticism of the people
[35:37] Speaker 2: who go so hard on first take, and I don't
[35:40] Speaker 2: think that we can ignore the fact that first take,
[35:44] Speaker 2: I've known Jamie Horowitz for a long time.
[35:46] Speaker 3: Ryan, you have worked with Jamie Horowitz, right?
[35:48] Speaker 4: Right.
[35:49] Speaker 2: A big thing to understand about Jamie Horowitz and the
[35:52] Speaker 2: way that he makes sports media. And Jamie, for those
[35:54] Speaker 2: who don't know, when he used to be First take
[35:57] Speaker 2: of cold pizza, and it would just be first and
[35:59] Speaker 2: ten with Skip. When Jamie Horowitz took over that show,
[36:01] Speaker 2: he was like, people watch Skip the most, so why
[36:03] Speaker 2: don't we make the whole show about Skip? The move
[36:06] Speaker 2: toward the embrace debate sort of format comes from Jamie Horowitz.
[36:10] Speaker 4: And when people watched Skip, when Stephen A was a
[36:14] Speaker 4: contributor on ESPN, not on full-time, they're like, this is
[36:17] Speaker 4: what people watch the most. Let's do this all the time.
[36:20] Speaker 3: Yes, that's how Jamie does things.
[36:21] Speaker 2: But the other thing with Jamie is, Jamie, unlike most
[36:25] Speaker 2: people who work in sports media, is like, hey, look
[36:28] Speaker 2: at all these black people watching this show. Why don't
[36:31] Speaker 2: we think about a show that these black people will like?
[36:35] Speaker 2: So it becomes the show that has the Lil Wayne
[36:37] Speaker 2: rap intro, for example, and all these things. Daytime programming
[36:40] Speaker 2: at ESPN had always had a huge black audience. I
[36:44] Speaker 2: bring that up to say, generally speaking, white people don't
[36:47] Speaker 2: really know what to do when they watch something and
[36:49] Speaker 2: they get the signal that it ain't for them.
[36:52] Speaker 3: Black people typically keep on watching, right?
[36:55] Speaker 2: But a lot of those criticisms of First Take, I
[36:58] Speaker 2: have always heard in a way and have felt to
[37:01] Speaker 2: a degree like they were also a wee bit like
[37:03] Speaker 2: criticisms of the audience, whether people intended for it to
[37:07] Speaker 2: be that way or not. The other point that I
[37:10] Speaker 2: think is worth, and this is about to say, not
[37:11] Speaker 2: to say that First Take is a show that has
[37:13] Speaker 2: not earned its criticism over time, but I contend on
[37:18] Speaker 2: the internet, and this is not just people who are
[37:20] Speaker 2: professional critics, as is the case with most things, the
[37:25] Speaker 2: loudest critics are the people who don't watch the show.
[37:30] Speaker 2: Because if you hated it that much, you wouldn't actually
[37:33] Speaker 2: watch it. I try to be careful about not having
[37:36] Speaker 2: passionate opinions about things I don't consume. I think that's
[37:40] Speaker 2: an important thing to keep in mind at all times.
[37:42] Speaker 2: You watch something once or twice and you didn't like it,
[37:44] Speaker 2: you don't know. You just don't.
[37:46] Speaker 3: It's okay to say you didn't like it, but you
[37:48] Speaker 3: don't know.
[37:48] Speaker 2: I say all that to say that People act like
[37:53] Speaker 2: first take became such a big deal because nobody liked it.
[37:58] Speaker 1: Right?
[37:58] Speaker 2: Like, just because your friends didn't like it, you think
[38:01] Speaker 2: that nobody liked it.
[38:03] Speaker 3: And that's not true.
[38:04] Speaker 2: There are a lot of people who like that show.
[38:06] Speaker 2: There are a lot of people who watch that show.
[38:07] Speaker 2: There were a lot of topics.
[38:09] Speaker 3: That when something happened in the news, you're like, yo,
[38:12] Speaker 3: I got.
[38:12] Speaker 2: To go see what Skip Bayless has to say about that.
[38:15] Speaker 2: And a lot of y'all don't want to admit that's
[38:17] Speaker 2: how you felt about it, but it's the truth. And
[38:19] Speaker 2: that's the hallmark to how good that show could be
[38:22] Speaker 2: when those two guys were doing it. And the reason
[38:25] Speaker 2: that show could be so good when those two guys
[38:27] Speaker 2: were doing it is because those two guys have arguments
[38:30] Speaker 2: for being the two best ever at doing television along
[38:34] Speaker 2: those lines. They're excellent at it. Now, the other day,
[38:39] Speaker 2: I was talking about with Dominique, talking about Draymond and
[38:43] Speaker 2: what happened with him on Inside the NBA. And a
[38:45] Speaker 2: point I was trying to make that I think some
[38:46] Speaker 2: people misunderstood was that You got to trust the people
[38:51] Speaker 2: that you're with to really be in there like joking
[38:54] Speaker 2: with each other and needling.
[38:55] Speaker 4: And arguing on television for 10 hours a week.
[38:58] Speaker 2: Yes. That's what Tony and Mike have on PTI is
[39:01] Speaker 2: that right home always makes this point that they can
[39:04] Speaker 2: go hard at each other. And then at the end,
[39:07] Speaker 2: one of them always does something to remind the other, hey, baby,
[39:10] Speaker 2: I still love you.
[39:11] Speaker 3: And then everything goes okay.
[39:13] Speaker 2: But you have to have a rapport and affection and
[39:16] Speaker 2: a trust in order to get that place. And so
[39:18] Speaker 2: what that allows your TV show to do is to
[39:21] Speaker 2: get more passionate when the guys trust each other, but
[39:24] Speaker 2: it also allows it to keep an air of levity.
[39:27] Speaker 3: That is necessary.
[39:27] Speaker 2: You don't want to feel like the two guys don't
[39:29] Speaker 2: like each other. I've done a TV show where it
[39:31] Speaker 2: looked like the two guys didn't like each other. It
[39:33] Speaker 2: got canceled, right? You can't have that vibe. First take
[39:37] Speaker 2: when it works at its best is because those two guys,
[39:42] Speaker 2: it's not that they're the only two guys that they
[39:44] Speaker 2: like or each other. But they're the only two that
[39:48] Speaker 2: each other trust in that way that they could go
[39:51] Speaker 2: back and forth as equals. Like Stephen A can play
[39:54] Speaker 2: it up real big when somebody gets him.
[39:56] Speaker 3: Oh, you got me. You got me and everything else.
[39:59] Speaker 2: And he's being magnanimous to a guest or somebody else
[40:02] Speaker 2: who's on a show. But those two guys could only
[40:04] Speaker 2: share that show with each other. That's the only place
[40:08] Speaker 2: they could. And so at its best, it was a
[40:11] Speaker 2: good show. And there were days where it could be
[40:14] Speaker 2: really enjoyable to watch. And there were days where you
[40:16] Speaker 2: saw a certain measure of self-awareness, like way.
[40:18] Speaker 3: Back when, when they did that dark night debate back
[40:21] Speaker 3: and forth.
[40:21] Speaker 2: That was a demonstration of a measure of self-awareness. Now,
[40:24] Speaker 2: what I think with that show, doing it together every day,
[40:29] Speaker 2: like when it was, they did it once or twice
[40:30] Speaker 2: a week together, it kind of jumped off the page, right?
[40:33] Speaker 2: When they did it every day, of course, it's going
[40:35] Speaker 2: to get a little bit old. when you get to
[40:38] Speaker 2: that point, right? But I, it was nostalgically good for me.
[40:43] Speaker 4: They were having a great time.
[40:45] Speaker 2: Two guys who really enjoy each other's company and really
[40:49] Speaker 2: respect each other, arguing with each other about sports wins.
[40:55] Speaker 2: It goes, it works. The other thing, and I think
[40:59] Speaker 2: this is something that people need to understand. Colin Cowherd,
[41:03] Speaker 2: as an example, is an excellent midday radio host right
[41:08] Speaker 2: and i don't need to get into what exactly a
[41:10] Speaker 2: midday host is and i say this is somebody who
[41:12] Speaker 2: considers himself a midday host midday host is a various
[41:14] Speaker 2: particular brand of person collins an excellent midday host i
[41:18] Speaker 2: don't enjoy listening to his show it's not for me
[41:22] Speaker 2: right every now and then he says something i like
[41:24] Speaker 2: but how whether or not i like his show is
[41:27] Speaker 2: not about whether or not his show is good you
[41:30] Speaker 2: know what i mean right I don't care how you
[41:33] Speaker 2: feel about Skip Bayless. He is a beast.
[41:36] Speaker 3: He is excellent at this.
[41:37] Speaker 2: And what that show was a reminder of and watching
[41:40] Speaker 2: it on Friday, all that crazy shit that Skip got
[41:42] Speaker 2: to say, Skip ready to back it all up. Skip
[41:46] Speaker 2: showed up to the night before I got on Twitter
[41:47] Speaker 2: and said, LeBron is the ninth best player.
[41:50] Speaker 3: Of all time.
[41:51] Speaker 2: And they showed up on TV with his top 10
[41:54] Speaker 2: and explanations. You may not have agreed with it, but
[41:56] Speaker 2: I had to say when I got to the end,
[41:57] Speaker 2: I was like, I see how you could arrive at
[42:00] Speaker 2: this ridiculous conclusion.
[42:02] Speaker 1: Right.
[42:02] Speaker 2: But that's what Skip's got. Skip says the crazy thing.
[42:05] Speaker 2: And then by the time you get to the end
[42:07] Speaker 2: off and you're like, I don't necessarily agree, but maybe
[42:10] Speaker 2: it's not that crazy.
[42:11] Speaker 4: There's always there's all his opinion is always well thought out.
[42:16] Speaker 2: Yes, yes.
[42:18] Speaker 3: Like the LeBron thing.
[42:19] Speaker 2: Look, man, you stepped on that dope. He wasn't supposed
[42:21] Speaker 2: to play this long. Right, right. Like this gag wasn't
[42:23] Speaker 2: supposed to continue to go on for as long as
[42:26] Speaker 2: it had or whatever. But there was a time where
[42:28] Speaker 2: Skip looked like a soothsayer in 2010 and 2011.
[42:32] Speaker 3: He looked like the dude who was finally right or whatever.
[42:34] Speaker 2: Anyway, I say all that to say I disagree with
[42:38] Speaker 2: the idea that First Take is responsible for everything that
[42:41] Speaker 2: became wrong about sports television.
[42:44] Speaker 1: Right.
[42:44] Speaker 2: I think it's a very easy thing for people to
[42:47] Speaker 2: point to and say, you don't blame sports talk radio
[42:51] Speaker 2: all across the country with people far less talented than
[42:54] Speaker 2: those people screaming and typically being far more hurtful and
[42:58] Speaker 2: hateful when they're talking about people because they're in the
[43:00] Speaker 2: silo of their local markets.
[43:02] Speaker 1: Right.
[43:02] Speaker 2: Like you can't sit up there and tell me how
[43:04] Speaker 2: much you love Mad Dog Russo and then say you
[43:06] Speaker 2: got a problem with them.
[43:08] Speaker 3: Right? Mac and the Mad Dog. They're your guys.
[43:10] Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, no. Much of the criticism of
[43:14] Speaker 2: that show has to do with whom that show serves.
[43:17] Speaker 2: And I don't think that people who engage in that
[43:20] Speaker 2: even fully realize that that's what they're doing. But I
[43:23] Speaker 2: think it's somewhat undeniable that that's a part of it.
[43:25] Speaker 2: So I thought that it was good. And if you
[43:28] Speaker 2: tell me that Skip's going to be back once every.
[43:30] Speaker 3: Couple weeks, I'll watch that.
[43:31] Speaker 2: If you tell me Skip's going to be back.
[43:33] Speaker 3: Every day, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah.
[43:35] Speaker 4: I'll pass.
[43:36] Speaker 1: Right?
[43:36] Speaker 2: I'm not going to do that.
[43:37] Speaker 6: Right.
[43:39] Speaker 2: But they the other reason they're great for each other.
[43:41] Speaker 2: And I'll say this and go. Skip thinks God put
[43:45] Speaker 2: him on this earth to argue about sports. Literally.
[43:49] Speaker 3: He takes this way seriously. He is here to win
[43:53] Speaker 3: every debate.
[43:54] Speaker 1: Right.
[43:55] Speaker 2: And it works with those two in a way that
[43:57] Speaker 2: like I don't think it worked before Stephen got there
[43:59] Speaker 2: because Skip also believes he's never lost a debate. And
[44:03] Speaker 2: he believes that he can structure the debate to make sure.
[44:07] Speaker 2: that he never loses a debate, which in part involves
[44:11] Speaker 2: making sure he has opponents that he knows he can beat.
[44:15] Speaker 2: Remember that time I told you that they told me
[44:20] Speaker 2: I wouldn't go be on the show no more?
[44:21] Speaker 4: Yes.
[44:22] Speaker 2: Okay.
[44:23] Speaker 1: Right?
[44:25] Speaker 2: Stephen A is the one guy that he respects enough, truly,
[44:30] Speaker 2: that maybe he doesn't win them all, but they'll go
[44:33] Speaker 2: back and forth, and then at the end, they'll come
[44:35] Speaker 2: back on the other side. And when that works, that
[44:38] Speaker 2: is what makes good television, even if it's not your
[44:42] Speaker 2: favorite show.
[44:44] Speaker 4: All right. Tough news in the Atlanta area. Manager Bobby
[44:48] Speaker 4: Cox passed away at the age of 84. He, of course,
[44:54] Speaker 4: managed the Braves from 1990 to 2010. Bo, Braves being
[44:59] Speaker 4: your favorite team, what was your reaction to this news?
[45:01] Speaker 2: So Bobby has always been an interesting figure because for
[45:04] Speaker 2: me personally, Before he became the manager, he was, and
[45:09] Speaker 2: you got to remember, this is a different era of
[45:11] Speaker 2: sports coverage, and obviously I was much younger, but he
[45:14] Speaker 2: was the general manager of the team. So he managed
[45:17] Speaker 2: the team until 1982, fired him, and then hired Joe Torre,
[45:21] Speaker 2: which people, I think, don't quite realize.
[45:23] Speaker 4: I didn't realize that.
[45:24] Speaker 2: Yeah, Joe Torre replaced him, and they won the division
[45:26] Speaker 2: in 82. So I think they fired Cox after 81, maybe.
[45:33] Speaker 2: But then they hired Joe Torrey, won the division in 82,
[45:36] Speaker 2: fired him in 84. In my house, the explanation always
[45:38] Speaker 2: was they fired Joe Torrey because he wouldn't fire Bob
[45:40] Speaker 2: Gibson as his pitching coach. I don't know if that's
[45:43] Speaker 2: the case, right? That's the kind of thing my daddy
[45:45] Speaker 2: would say. But it's on the board.
[45:47] Speaker 3: It's possible.
[45:47] Speaker 4: Yeah, not that far out there.
[45:49] Speaker 2: Well, let me tell you what's also possible. Joe Torrey
[45:52] Speaker 2: being like, I ain't firing Bob Gibson.
[45:53] Speaker 3: You fire Bob Gibson.
[45:55] Speaker 4: Yeah, you go tell Bob Gibson he's fired.
[45:57] Speaker 3: Yeah, you go tell him. You go, you go tell them,
[45:59] Speaker 3: and I'm sure they did it on the phone.
[46:02] Speaker 2: But anyway.
[46:03] Speaker 4: Long distance call.
[46:04] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[46:05] Speaker 2: But Bobby built that team and then went to manage it, right?
[46:09] Speaker 2: Bobby makes the trade for Doyle Alexander that gets John Smoltz.
[46:11] Speaker 2: But I think Bobby's the one where you draft... um,
[46:15] Speaker 2: Tom Glavin, like all of these things, they got, sure.
[46:17] Speaker 2: Holtz became the general manager in 90, right before the
[46:19] Speaker 2: 91 season, but that's what they did.
[46:21] Speaker 3: You know, that's how it went.
[46:22] Speaker 2: And so he went from being this, like this, the
[46:25] Speaker 2: guy upstairs, and then they fired Russ Nixon and now
[46:28] Speaker 2: Bobby Cox.
[46:28] Speaker 3: Is the manager, but I don't know anything about him.
[46:30] Speaker 5: Right.
[46:30] Speaker 2: I don't really know much about the Toronto days or
[46:32] Speaker 2: any of that other stuff. And I tell people this
[46:35] Speaker 2: all the time, no matter what happens in this world,
[46:37] Speaker 2: you can never take 1991 away from me. like the
[46:40] Speaker 2: the world series in 95 was great but the second
[46:42] Speaker 2: half of the 1991 season is everything in the world
[46:45] Speaker 2: to me for being i want to say 30 i
[46:48] Speaker 2: can't remember the record but i know at one point
[46:49] Speaker 2: they were like 38 and 40 or something like that
[46:51] Speaker 2: came back won the division on the last week of
[46:52] Speaker 2: the season everything else and those of you who know
[46:54] Speaker 2: me and have listened to me forever that those braves
[46:57] Speaker 2: are the most important like the first thing i ever
[46:58] Speaker 2: loved that wasn't about family right like i would say
[47:00] Speaker 2: the first thing i ever made a choice to love
[47:02] Speaker 2: in this world was the atlanta braves and 15 years,
[47:06] Speaker 2: are we going to be good no matter what, right?
[47:09] Speaker 2: As a manager, we talk about the years they had
[47:11] Speaker 2: all the pitching, but they didn't always have all the pitching.
[47:13] Speaker 2: And then some years they didn't have the pitching. And
[47:15] Speaker 2: then they won with hitting all the time. And then
[47:16] Speaker 2: this year the bullpen was excellent. And then this year
[47:19] Speaker 2: it wasn't. But every year something different was going to happen.
[47:21] Speaker 2: You may not win a World Series, and it's real
[47:23] Speaker 2: easy to get frustrated with that. And people can say
[47:25] Speaker 2: that this is not a dynasty because they only won
[47:26] Speaker 2: one World Series. Fine, I don't give a fuck about that.
[47:29] Speaker 2: It was so much fun to root for that team
[47:33] Speaker 2: and the steadying force and the constant at every turn
[47:36] Speaker 2: was Bobby Cox, right? The other thing with Cox, obviously,
[47:40] Speaker 2: is that he's all-time leader in getting ejected. And the
[47:43] Speaker 2: only criticism I have with him for those ejections was
[47:46] Speaker 2: they were never fun enough for us. Like you go
[47:49] Speaker 2: out there and he just start talking and you'd be like.
[47:51] Speaker 3: Damn, what did he say?
[47:53] Speaker 2: Cause they were like, give me some Earl Weaver, man.
[47:55] Speaker 3: Turn your cap around, kick some dirt around, all of
[47:58] Speaker 3: that stuff. It would never be that. It was like,
[48:00] Speaker 3: his problem was he could never go back.
[48:02] Speaker 4: Right?
[48:02] Speaker 3: Like he'd go out there and just keep going, keep going.
[48:05] Speaker 2: And then finally they're like, we gotta, we gotta, we
[48:09] Speaker 2: gotta get you out of there.
[48:11] Speaker 1: Right?
[48:11] Speaker 3: Like that was, that was it.
[48:13] Speaker 2: So yeah.
[48:13] Speaker 3: So Bobby dying.
[48:14] Speaker 2: I mean, it wraps a lot for that era. I mean,
[48:20] Speaker 2: obviously the players still here.
[48:22] Speaker 3: Chip is still alive.
[48:23] Speaker 2: Andrew just went to the Hall of Fame. Glavin, Maddox, Smoltz,
[48:26] Speaker 2: all these guys. It's not like these guys are gone.
[48:28] Speaker 2: There's also a great opportunity to tell the Braves it's
[48:31] Speaker 2: OK to retire Terry Pendleton's jersey. You should. The most
[48:36] Speaker 2: important player in this transition of this team becoming what
[48:38] Speaker 2: it was is him. Long story. We could talk about
[48:41] Speaker 2: another day. But now, man, Bobby meant something to a
[48:45] Speaker 2: lot of us because that team meant something to a
[48:47] Speaker 2: lot of us. And he is the most readily associated
[48:53] Speaker 2: voice or face of that team. And, you know, rest
[48:58] Speaker 2: in peace.
[49:01] Speaker 4: All right, Bo. A lot of good voicemails. Here's our first. Hey, Bomani.
[49:11] Speaker 6: This is David in New Orleans. Love the show. Got
[49:13] Speaker 6: a story about Ted Turner in Polite Society. So years ago,
[49:18] Speaker 6: I volunteered at a literary conference here in New Orleans,
[49:23] Speaker 6: and one of the main faculty was Robert Olin Butler,
[49:28] Speaker 6: who's a Pulitzer Prize-winning fiction writer, and whose wife had
[49:33] Speaker 6: just left him earlier that year for Ted Turner to
[49:38] Speaker 6: become one of his girlfriends. And it turned out this
[49:42] Speaker 6: conference was giving Ted Turner an award for the autobiography
[49:47] Speaker 6: he wrote, and mainly because he was willing to show up.
[49:50] Speaker 6: And so Robert Owen Butler is sitting there at the
[49:54] Speaker 6: dinner where Ted Turner is up on the stage with
[49:59] Speaker 6: Elizabeth Dewberry, Robert Owen Butler's ex-wife. And when he gets
[50:03] Speaker 6: up to accept the award, he says, I guess they
[50:06] Speaker 6: give this award to you if you write a great book.
[50:09] Speaker 6: And then he looks dead eye at Robert Olin Butler
[50:13] Speaker 6: and says, don't worry, Bob, you'll get one one day.
[50:18] Speaker 2: Have a good one. I love stories like that.
[50:25] Speaker 4: Yes. Especially like people at that age, just like the
[50:29] Speaker 4: less you care, the more interesting you are.
[50:32] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[50:32] Speaker 2: Well, I'm also very good at not knowing who that
[50:34] Speaker 2: person is. I was just talking to. Yeah.
[50:36] Speaker 3: I have that knack. No, I told you about Rich
[50:41] Speaker 3: Paul's story, right?
[50:42] Speaker 1: No.
[50:42] Speaker 3: First time I met Rich Paul, I was on the
[50:44] Speaker 3: floor in Miami.
[50:45] Speaker 2: This was 2013 or 14, somewhere in there. It was
[50:49] Speaker 2: after one of the Heat Finals games. And I'm talking
[50:52] Speaker 2: to Connor and I think Jamie, right?
[50:54] Speaker 3: And so we're there. And then somebody says, hey, have
[50:56] Speaker 3: you met Rich Paul? I had never met Rich Paul.
[50:58] Speaker 3: I'm talking to him.
[50:59] Speaker 2: And I don't think he knew exactly what Connor did.
[51:01] Speaker 2: Or maybe they had been talking. I don't remember the
[51:03] Speaker 2: particulars on that. But I just remember Rich looked at
[51:06] Speaker 2: Connor and said, oh, yeah, ESPN. I was just talking
[51:09] Speaker 2: to Bob from Disney a little earlier.
[51:12] Speaker 3: And Connor goes a little about Bob from Disney. Hey,
[51:13] Speaker 3: are you talking about Bob Iger?
[51:18] Speaker 2: And I don't, I don't use that. That is not
[51:20] Speaker 2: to shade Rich Paul at all. That is to say
[51:24] Speaker 2: that when you rep LeBron.
[51:26] Speaker 4: He's Bob.
[51:27] Speaker 3: He's just Bob from Disney.
[51:29] Speaker 5: Right.
[51:29] Speaker 3: You're like, you hold all the cards.
[51:31] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[51:31] Speaker 3: And if I'm not.
[51:32] Speaker 2: Mistaken, Disney had a lot of Bob's kind of like
[51:34] Speaker 2: ESPN used to have a lot of Johns.
[51:36] Speaker 8: Yep.
[51:36] Speaker 3: This is like, wait, Did you just say Bob from Disney? Yeah,
[51:39] Speaker 3: Bob from Disney.
[51:43] Speaker 4: Incredible. All right, here's our next one.
[51:46] Speaker 5: What's going on, Bo and Ryan?
[51:49] Speaker 7: I have to credit you guys for introducing me and
[51:53] Speaker 7: you and the internet of people from Opelousas.
[51:58] Speaker 5: In my particular branch of the family, I was like
[52:00] Speaker 5: the last person I ever met up in Pennsylvania.
[52:04] Speaker 7: But, yeah, once I had, like, seen on social media, like.
[52:09] Speaker 5: People with Opelousas and how it was kind.
[52:15] Speaker 8: Of a shocker, and I just seen that rerun episode
[52:18] Speaker 8: of Seinfeld where Elaine was dating a guy, and he
[52:23] Speaker 8: swore that she was black, and he thought that she
[52:27] Speaker 8: was Latina. And so I was just wondering, like, have you.
[52:31] Speaker 7: Ever misconstrued somebody's background in your life.
[52:35] Speaker 5: Like I have an uncle, my aunt's husband.
[52:37] Speaker 8: Who he had a, I could have swore that.
[52:42] Speaker 7: He was a white guy. I thought my cousin was biracial.
[52:46] Speaker 7: But then I heard some of his views on social
[52:49] Speaker 7: political things. And if he was a white man, he'd
[52:53] Speaker 7: be like an uncle ruckus for them. So yeah, have
[52:57] Speaker 7: you ever misconstrued anybody that you know's background in ethnicity?
[53:02] Speaker 6: All right.
[53:03] Speaker 7: Not sure.
[53:03] Speaker 8: Keep going.
[53:05] Speaker 2: I mean, of course.
[53:05] Speaker 3: Isaiah Hartenstein.
[53:11] Speaker 2: Isaiah Hartenstein, way high on the list.
[53:15] Speaker 4: I know that's got to happen to him every day.
[53:17] Speaker 3: There's also a couple of twins in professional.
[53:20] Speaker 2: Sports that I know exactly what's going on there, but
[53:23] Speaker 2: I feel like we don't ever talk about it, so
[53:25] Speaker 2: I'm afraid to actually bring it up.
[53:27] Speaker 3: It's pretty obvious.
[53:28] Speaker 2: If you tried to drop a pencil through their hair,
[53:30] Speaker 2: you would know what time it was, but we only
[53:32] Speaker 2: talk about it during Latin month.
[53:36] Speaker 3: I just don't know what to do.
[53:38] Speaker 2: Did you figure out who I was talking about, Ryan?
[53:40] Speaker 4: Oh, I'm aware. I'm aware, and I will also not
[53:44] Speaker 4: betray anyone.
[53:45] Speaker 2: Right, like I don't know what to do. It sounds
[53:47] Speaker 2: like a decision has been made, but I saw a
[53:50] Speaker 2: picture of their uncle, and he might as well be the.
[53:52] Speaker 3: Ace of spades.
[53:54] Speaker 4: Actually, someone very close to him came up earlier in
[53:56] Speaker 4: the show.
[53:56] Speaker 2: That is true.
[53:58] Speaker 4: All right, here's our last one.
[54:00] Speaker 1: Hey, Bomani. This is Michael, a long-time listener. You know,
[54:04] Speaker 1: I was thinking about the Vrabel situation. And who would
[54:08] Speaker 1: be the funniest if they kept leaking all this to TMZ?
[54:13] Speaker 1: And I've come to the conclusion that I think the
[54:16] Speaker 1: only way that this story could get wilder is if
[54:19] Speaker 1: Jordan Hudson was the one leaking all this for her
[54:23] Speaker 1: guy Bill. What do you think?
[54:28] Speaker 2: Huh. I don't feel like she got any reason to
[54:33] Speaker 2: have any beef with Mike Vrabel.
[54:37] Speaker 4: I think she knows two people in love when she
[54:39] Speaker 4: sees them.
[54:41] Speaker 3: That's right. That's right.
[54:42] Speaker 2: That's right. That is love.
[54:45] Speaker 3: Like, this is my question.
[54:49] Speaker 2: Who was like, you still got that video from 2020?
[54:52] Speaker 2: You still got that 2021 video?
[54:56] Speaker 3: Let's send that out. And I will just make one
[54:59] Speaker 3: more point.
[55:02] Speaker 2: I frequently say that I am not really famous, but
[55:05] Speaker 2: I am certainly recognizable.
[55:08] Speaker 6: Right?
[55:08] Speaker 3: Like, certain places.
[55:09] Speaker 4: That's a good distinction.
[55:10] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
[55:11] Speaker 3: Certain places, I am famous. I am not famous everywhere. Okay?
[55:17] Speaker 2: But one place I am very recognizable is at an arena.
[55:21] Speaker 3: At a stadium.
[55:22] Speaker 2: Somewhere around, you know, with a sporting event attached to it.
[55:25] Speaker 2: That would make sense. Okay?
[55:29] Speaker 3: If you're Mike Vrabel....
[55:32] Speaker 2: In 2021, your arena is Nashville. The whole city of Nashville.
[55:40] Speaker 2: Maybe you can lay low at the casino in Biloxi.
[55:43] Speaker 2: Maybe you can lay low somewhere in New York City.
[55:45] Speaker 2: There is no laying low in Nashville. And he was
[55:49] Speaker 2: walking around Nashville like he was invisible. What are you.
[55:56] Speaker 3: You better win a lot of games.
[55:57] Speaker 2: Is all I'm saying.
[55:58] Speaker 3: Ryan, in the schedule coming out in a couple of days.
[56:01] Speaker 4: Sure is. Thursday.
[56:02] Speaker 2: Hey, hey, that's, wait, let's see what the murderers roll.
[56:08] Speaker 2: Because their schedule is a monster this year.
[56:10] Speaker 4: Yes. Especially compared to last year where they had the
[56:12] Speaker 4: easiest schedule in 25 years.
[56:13] Speaker 3: Yeah, like they're going to have them.
[56:16] Speaker 2: It's going to be tough. It's going to be tough.
[56:18] Speaker 2: It's going to be tough. But hey, ladies and gentlemen,
