[0:05] Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the right time. A wave original.
[0:09] Speaker 1: My name is Beaumont Jones. Thanks for listening wherever you
[0:11] Speaker 1: get your podcast. Thanks for watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like,
[0:15] Speaker 1: rate us, review us, give us five stars. You only
[0:17] Speaker 1: give us four stars. I'm inclined to believe you are
[0:20] Speaker 1: a hater. It is Danny Parkins Friday. Danny Parkins from
[0:23] Speaker 1: FS1' s First Things First. What's going on, man?
[0:26] Speaker 2: Chilling, Bo. Thanks for having me back, man.
[0:28] Speaker 1: Hey, man. Got you on. And this is going to
[0:31] Speaker 1: be a really fun moment. for me and Ryan, what's
[0:34] Speaker 1: about to happen. Now we got Chiefs bills, some other
[0:36] Speaker 1: NFL stuff, great moments of white basketball history going on
[0:40] Speaker 1: right now. We'll get to all of those things. But first,
[0:44] Speaker 1: my father is from Louisiana. Ryan is from Louisiana. My
[0:48] Speaker 1: dad is from a little town called Oakdale. Ryan is
[0:50] Speaker 1: from Lafayette. And I say that to say that we
[0:54] Speaker 1: are both people who are very familiar with with Louisiana
[0:59] Speaker 1: and the different ways that Louisiana gets down. Danny is
[1:03] Speaker 1: from Chicago and has done Midwest and really, really cold
[1:08] Speaker 1: New York state living, right?
[1:09] Speaker 2: That's correct.
[1:10] Speaker 3: This is not very Louisiana at.
[1:12] Speaker 2: All, okay? I got no Southern ties in my family.
[1:16] Speaker 2: The only Louisiana experience I have is basically Bourbon Street
[1:20] Speaker 2: in New Orleans.
[1:20] Speaker 1: Okay, and I need you to understand there's Southern, but
[1:23] Speaker 1: there's Louisiana. Louisiana stands on its own. So- This LSU
[1:28] Speaker 1: coaching search.
[1:30] Speaker 3: Was already declared.
[1:31] Speaker 1: Ross Dellinger at Yahoo Sports put something in one of
[1:33] Speaker 1: his pieces where somebody's quoted as saying that this is
[1:35] Speaker 1: going to be the most Louisiana thing ever, okay? Now,
[1:40] Speaker 1: where this has gotten extra Louisiana, and when we say that,
[1:44] Speaker 1: we mean like in a Huey Long sort of way,
[1:48] Speaker 1: is that the governor... has decided that he is going
[1:53] Speaker 1: to run this search, right? Like this is clear that
[1:56] Speaker 1: he has decided he's going to run this search. Now,
[1:57] Speaker 1: an important detail for you to understand is that the
[2:01] Speaker 1: athletic director at LSU, Scott Woodward, is the guy who
[2:05] Speaker 1: also was the athletic director at Texas A & M
[2:07] Speaker 1: when they hired Jimbo Fisher and he got the $ 70
[2:09] Speaker 1: million buyout.
[2:10] Speaker 3: And this Brian Kelly buyout, which is a $ 50.
[2:15] Speaker 1: Million buyout, I believe, Though it's worth noting, James Franklin
[2:19] Speaker 1: also has a $ 50 million buyout, and your boy Scott
[2:22] Speaker 1: did not negotiate that one. This is just kind of
[2:24] Speaker 1: what things cost, okay? But he's that guy. Anyway, LSU
[2:30] Speaker 1: has an interim president right now. So that's why the
[2:32] Speaker 1: governor has taken in this power vacuum. And I started
[2:36] Speaker 1: seeing crazy quotes from the governor's press conference yesterday.
[2:41] Speaker 3: People were sending them to me. And I just read them.
[2:45] Speaker 1: Because they were quotes, they were written down, like they
[2:47] Speaker 1: were sent in tweets. And I try to stay off
[2:50] Speaker 1: of that place as much as I can at this point.
[2:53] Speaker 1: So I wasn't clicking the links, right? Then I was
[2:56] Speaker 1: made aware that it was a press conference. And, baby,
[3:01] Speaker 1: if you thought that what we had told you previously
[3:04] Speaker 1: implied Louisiana-ness in this situation, Danny, we're about to let
[3:08] Speaker 1: you know how Louisiana get down. Ryan, can we get
[3:12] Speaker 1: Governor Jeff Landry of Louisiana at his press conference about
[3:17] Speaker 1: this LSU coaching situation?
[3:19] Speaker 4: You know, to foot the bill. So, yeah, absolutely. Who's that?
[3:25] Speaker 1: No. No.
[3:25] Speaker 5: I can tell you right now, Scott Woodward is not
[3:27] Speaker 5: selecting the next coach. Hell, I'll let Donald Trump select
[3:29] Speaker 5: it before I let him do it.
[3:31] Speaker 4: I don't know, but the.
[3:32] Speaker 5: Board of Supervisors is going to come up with a
[3:33] Speaker 5: committee and they're going to go find us a coach.
[3:36] Speaker 4: Hold on, hold on. One real quick thing on that.
[3:38] Speaker 5: Because here's what y'all reporters need to do.
[3:40] Speaker 4: Y'all need to start looking at who represents all these people.
[3:45] Speaker 4: Like these agents. You know what's interesting?
[3:47] Speaker 5: If I'm not mistaken, Woodward's agent, Kelly's agent, the Texas
[3:52] Speaker 5: A & M, they're all the same agent. Like, you
[3:55] Speaker 5: realize if I would be, I don't know how many
[3:57] Speaker 5: sports writers we got here today.
[4:00] Speaker 4: Just you. We should have a bunch. Okay? Like, this
[4:03] Speaker 4: is ridiculous.
[4:05] Speaker 5: Lawyers would be disbarred for the way these agents act
[4:08] Speaker 5: and the way they're able to represent. In fact, they may,
[4:11] Speaker 5: there's no doubt, they may even represent some of the
[4:13] Speaker 5: players now. Like, it's really time for the NCAA to
[4:17] Speaker 5: put on some guardrails in college sports.
[4:21] Speaker 4: Because it is fine. We don't need to guardrails.
[4:23] Speaker 5: If big billionaires want to spend all that kind of money,
[4:27] Speaker 5: no problem. But if I got to go find $ 53
[4:29] Speaker 5: million from Kevin, it's not going to be a pleasant conversation.
[4:32] Speaker 4: I'm just telling you.
[4:36] Speaker 2: Okay.
[4:37] Speaker 1: First of all, he's not entirely wrong on the Asian thing,
[4:41] Speaker 1: but he's also not entirely right. Like that's a platitude.
[4:44] Speaker 1: We know this, right?
[4:47] Speaker 2: Um, put a pin in that point. Yeah.
[4:49] Speaker 1: Put a, put a pin at that point though, because
[4:51] Speaker 1: I just need your reaction to simply hearing that man's voice.
[4:55] Speaker 2: It's very Cajun. Uh, that, that, that is, it's hard
[4:59] Speaker 2: to take anything he says seriously.
[5:01] Speaker 1: And they get mad about that, by the way.
[5:03] Speaker 2: I know.
[5:05] Speaker 4: I know.
[5:07] Speaker 2: I just gave them red meat in the comments there. Um, yeah,
[5:12] Speaker 2: I'm like, This is terrible. But I'm thinking that he
[5:17] Speaker 2: sounds like a character in Adam Sandler's The Waterboy. Yes. Like,
[5:20] Speaker 2: you know what I mean? Mr. Coach Kline. Like, I'm
[5:23] Speaker 2: just like, I can't take him seriously. Like, that is just,
[5:26] Speaker 2: he's just a stereotypical archetype of everything that I learned
[5:30] Speaker 2: about Louisiana culture, which my first exposure to it was
[5:33] Speaker 2: Adam Sandler when I was like, 12 years old, which
[5:36] Speaker 2: is not good.
[5:36] Speaker 1: And the thing for me and Ryan is, we're like, no, no, no,
[5:38] Speaker 1: it's just kind of how it goes, right? Like, this
[5:42] Speaker 1: is not what any of you think is coming. That's
[5:43] Speaker 1: like the Ed Ogeron situation, right? That was amazing. Yeah, yeah,
[5:48] Speaker 1: but Ogeron was a football coach, so more into a
[5:51] Speaker 1: lane that you could go for.
[5:53] Speaker 3: And he is from St. Martinville, Louisiana. This is archetype,
[5:59] Speaker 3: I think, is an appropriate.
[6:00] Speaker 1: Way for you to put this, but What I heard
[6:04] Speaker 1: as he went through all of that, including the platitude
[6:06] Speaker 1: about the agent thing.
[6:07] Speaker 3: Like, yeah, buddy, you know what's interesting to me?
[6:10] Speaker 1: And as I heard him say this, right, which sounded
[6:13] Speaker 1: very much like a moment that all of us can
[6:15] Speaker 1: have at various points where you meet a fan in
[6:19] Speaker 1: the wild and they hit you with a platitude, really
[6:23] Speaker 1: thinking that they dropped the big joke. They're like, hey, man,
[6:26] Speaker 1: you know, I got this thing that I've been thinking about.
[6:29] Speaker 1: They shoot two minute three pointers in the NBA.
[6:32] Speaker 3: And you're like, oh, man, glad you brought that up.
[6:35] Speaker 1: You need to talk about that on your show.
[6:37] Speaker 2: Right.
[6:38] Speaker 1: He was that guy. And that's what dawned on me
[6:40] Speaker 1: is going to make this search hilarious. And what generally
[6:43] Speaker 1: makes these searches hilarious when they're not done by an
[6:46] Speaker 1: athletic director. If it's not done by an.
[6:49] Speaker 3: Athletic director, you know who's going to go find your
[6:50] Speaker 3: new coach?
[6:52] Speaker 2: A fan.
[6:54] Speaker 1: Maybe a really rich fan. Maybe a very powerful fan.
[6:58] Speaker 1: Perhaps one with high levels of education.
[7:00] Speaker 3: But in the end, just a fan.
[7:05] Speaker 2: Right someone who's got a good idea on message boards
[7:08] Speaker 2: yes like someone who has a username somewhere you know
[7:12] Speaker 2: uh i don't know if it's relevant but it feels
[7:14] Speaker 2: like it might be because i did see some sort
[7:16] Speaker 2: of like walk back comment from him that he was
[7:18] Speaker 2: like but i'm not going to be selecting is this
[7:22] Speaker 2: is this gentleman popular like is he broadly popular.
[7:25] Speaker 1: You know what let's look Jeff Landry approval rating.
[7:32] Speaker 4: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
[7:33] Speaker 1: Five days ago, headline, Governor Landry's approval ratings drop across Louisiana,
[7:40] Speaker 1: even in Acadiana, and Acadiana is.
[7:43] Speaker 2: Where he from.
[7:44] Speaker 1: His approval rating has dropped to 39%. And that's the
[7:48] Speaker 1: reason why I think we're seeing this in the way
[7:49] Speaker 1: that we do. Look, talking bad about Brian Kelly and
[7:52] Speaker 1: wanting to fix LSU football is a bipartisan issue, shall
[7:56] Speaker 1: we say. He sent the tweet during the game about
[7:59] Speaker 1: how they needed to roll back the increase in ticket prices.
[8:03] Speaker 1: He has figured out his way back to the top, except, ooh, ooh,
[8:07] Speaker 1: I don't think this is really going to be it.
[8:09] Speaker 2: Yeah, right, exactly. Criticizing Brian Kelly, rolling back ticket prices,
[8:12] Speaker 2: that's like a populist agenda thing. He could have taken
[8:15] Speaker 2: that 39% and maybe bumped it up into the low 50s,
[8:18] Speaker 2: but then he went a step too far and was like,
[8:21] Speaker 2: I'm taking over the search. No, you're not. No, you're not.
[8:26] Speaker 1: I'm going to run. Don't you have other things that
[8:29] Speaker 1: you should be doing? And he's like, what's more important
[8:31] Speaker 1: than this? And the people are like, you know what?
[8:33] Speaker 1: You got a point.
[8:34] Speaker 2: Exactly. But if they liked him, they'd be like, yeah,
[8:38] Speaker 2: I mean, he can't do a worse job than the
[8:39] Speaker 2: last guy who hired Brian Kelly, but they don't like him.
[8:42] Speaker 3: Hey, man, understand this. Louisiana is known for.
[8:46] Speaker 1: Government and people oftentimes having, we'll call it misplaced priorities.
[8:53] Speaker 1: Look at how long it took for them or the
[8:55] Speaker 1: circumstances under which it took for them to change the
[8:58] Speaker 1: legal drinking age. From 18 to 21. And what they
[9:01] Speaker 1: did that at the expense of, which I believe was
[9:04] Speaker 1: federal funds for the highways.
[9:05] Speaker 3: But they decided that.
[9:07] Speaker 1: Some things are more important than your highways being what
[9:11] Speaker 1: they are supposed to be.
[9:13] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[9:13] Speaker 1: You tell the governor like, hey, man, it's about to
[9:15] Speaker 1: be a category five barreling down.
[9:18] Speaker 2: We have a coach to find.
[9:20] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[9:23] Speaker 1: Like you think that you want to see a category six?
[9:26] Speaker 1: Let us not find a coach. That'll be a category six.
[9:31] Speaker 2: We've seen hurricanes before. We don't like seeing five losses.
[9:36] Speaker 2: Category five losses is the real problem.
[9:39] Speaker 1: Well, the other part is because that's a state with
[9:41] Speaker 1: only one really big time school. It's like Ohio State.
[9:45] Speaker 1: This is what everybody does. There's no split going on here.
[9:49] Speaker 1: This is not being partitioned.
[9:51] Speaker 3: This is what everybody's into. This is what everybody cares about.
[9:56] Speaker 2: When I will say their their marketing is pretty spectacular
[9:59] Speaker 2: like I'm not I love college football but it's not
[10:03] Speaker 2: in my like top three like sports like I got
[10:05] Speaker 2: a wife and kids so I kind of have to
[10:06] Speaker 2: give up a lot of my Saturdays just with them
[10:08] Speaker 2: because of what I do on my Sundays but the
[10:10] Speaker 2: marketing of like i haven't been to a night game
[10:14] Speaker 2: at baton rouge just like feels like a black hole
[10:17] Speaker 2: in my sports fan experience.
[10:19] Speaker 1: I don't want to go i gotta want to go
[10:20] Speaker 1: i gotta want to go like i've done i've done
[10:22] Speaker 1: a night game at baton rouge but it was at
[10:24] Speaker 1: southern which is also cracking but i'm sure i kind
[10:27] Speaker 1: of want to do the baton rouge thing and while
[10:29] Speaker 1: they sing a garth brooks song that i don't actually
[10:32] Speaker 1: know but i've heard of only because of them which
[10:34] Speaker 1: tells you a lot because i'm from texas um like
[10:37] Speaker 1: the the thing is we got to make sure we
[10:39] Speaker 1: get to like at once a good one but also
[10:42] Speaker 1: one that we know they gonna win like i don't
[10:43] Speaker 1: want to be around them if they're a little they're
[10:46] Speaker 1: a little salty but i bet that tailgate is bananas.
[10:48] Speaker 2: That's really what it is i just want to i
[10:50] Speaker 2: want to experience the game day culture and then the
[10:53] Speaker 2: game can be yeah it can.
[10:55] Speaker 1: Be hey start working on it and in 2026 we'll
[10:59] Speaker 1: figure out and when i say working on it you
[11:00] Speaker 1: understand what i mean you know talk to the boss
[11:04] Speaker 1: See if you can get you a couple days. And
[11:06] Speaker 1: I think that we can go down there and do
[11:07] Speaker 1: our odd couple thing down there in Baton Rouge.
[11:10] Speaker 2: Ryan can start working with his boss, too.
[11:12] Speaker 4: I'm in.
[11:13] Speaker 2: Yeah, we can do this. I am in. And yeah,
[11:16] Speaker 2: that's the doubleheader. Now, we don't want to go to
[11:21] Speaker 2: a Saints game. No, no, no, no, no.
[11:22] Speaker 3: No, no, no.
[11:23] Speaker 1: Let me tell you something. They might fight me. Like
[11:26] Speaker 1: the Saints game. Saints games I don't need to be,
[11:29] Speaker 1: but I'm going to take you over. I got to
[11:30] Speaker 1: take you over my side of Baton Rouge. You know,
[11:32] Speaker 1: I got all kind of family through there.
[11:33] Speaker 2: I believe it. I'm in, man.
[11:34] Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
[11:35] Speaker 1: I got to show you the other side of Baton Rouge,
[11:36] Speaker 1: but we're going to do that. Now that we have
[11:39] Speaker 1: laughed at the LSU search, we got a big weekend
[11:42] Speaker 1: in the NFL.
[11:43] Speaker 2: Not because it's a lot of big games, but it
[11:45] Speaker 2: is Chiefs builds.
[11:47] Speaker 3: Big ones.
[11:48] Speaker 1: The Bills, regular season against the Chiefs. They've shown that
[11:52] Speaker 1: they put up a puncher's, got a puncher's chance. In fact,
[11:54] Speaker 1: might win. It's the playoffs where they don't seem to
[11:57] Speaker 1: get over the top on this one. They get this
[11:59] Speaker 1: game at home. But what is interesting is we were
[12:02] Speaker 1: early this year looking at Buffalo. They're going to go
[12:04] Speaker 1: to the Super Bowl in Kansas City. Are they going
[12:06] Speaker 1: to make the playoffs? And now I feel like we've
[12:08] Speaker 1: all got back to our senses. And we're like, ah,
[12:11] Speaker 1: look at Kansas City.
[12:12] Speaker 3: Best team in the AFC. And Buffalo, we're like, hey,
[12:15] Speaker 3: they can't stop the run.
[12:17] Speaker 2: That is correct. And I'm not even totally convinced, even
[12:20] Speaker 2: though the numbers are pretty good, that they can stop
[12:22] Speaker 2: the pass because Drake May lit them up and Lamar
[12:24] Speaker 2: lit them up. They've played a terrible schedule. They have
[12:28] Speaker 2: no impressive wins at this point unless you give them
[12:31] Speaker 2: credit for that week one Baltimore win where they actually
[12:34] Speaker 2: didn't look that good. So yeah, you can run on
[12:36] Speaker 2: them and you can pass on them. And I'm expecting
[12:40] Speaker 2: the Chiefs to do both in this spot. Now, I
[12:42] Speaker 2: will say, I do think the bills like blip of
[12:45] Speaker 2: two losses was more of a blip. Like I do
[12:48] Speaker 2: still think the bills offense is excellent. So I expect
[12:51] Speaker 2: this to be a very high scoring game, but this
[12:54] Speaker 2: chiefs thing, man, they're putting up offensive numbers that are
[12:58] Speaker 2: identical to 2018 to 2022. Like not like five games
[13:02] Speaker 2: of that stretch, like five years of that stretch. So, so,
[13:07] Speaker 2: It's I do think that the Chiefs are very much
[13:09] Speaker 2: back to being the Chiefs and the Bills are in
[13:11] Speaker 2: a real bad spot here.
[13:13] Speaker 1: Right. So let's talk about these two losses, though, for
[13:15] Speaker 1: the Bills and whether or not they qualify as a blip.
[13:19] Speaker 1: And the reason we say this is you. I say
[13:21] Speaker 1: this is you are right. They got that one.
[13:23] Speaker 3: Win over the Ravens.
[13:24] Speaker 2: And you're right.
[13:24] Speaker 1: They give up 40 points. It's easy to forget because
[13:26] Speaker 1: it was so long ago. But otherwise, they've beaten bums.
[13:30] Speaker 1: They beat the Jets.
[13:32] Speaker 2: They beat the Dolphins.
[13:33] Speaker 3: They beat the Saints and they beat the Panthers. And
[13:37] Speaker 3: the teams that they.
[13:38] Speaker 1: Lost to are the Patriots, who, hold on, we'll get
[13:42] Speaker 1: to them.
[13:42] Speaker 2: The other one is the Falcons.
[13:43] Speaker 1: I don't ever have to explain what I'm saying when
[13:45] Speaker 1: I'm talking about you beating the Falcons, right? Like, come on.
[13:48] Speaker 1: But them beating the Patriots, the Patriots have also, all
[13:52] Speaker 1: those wins they've got are all against tomato cans.
[13:55] Speaker 3: Every single bit, right?
[13:56] Speaker 1: And so does that mean that the Bills are also
[13:59] Speaker 1: a tomato can as they are fitting in with a
[14:01] Speaker 1: lot of tomato cans that the Patriots themselves have beaten?
[14:04] Speaker 1: That's kind of where we are now. I feel like
[14:06] Speaker 1: we're getting enough of a sample in the games where
[14:09] Speaker 1: we can now raise questions about how good your wins
[14:13] Speaker 1: actually are.
[14:15] Speaker 2: I agree, and I don't know if you do your
[14:17] Speaker 2: NFL analysis this way, but if you've been good for years, plural,
[14:24] Speaker 2: I do think there is a carryover. I do think Philly, Detroit,
[14:31] Speaker 2: Kansas City, Buffalo, I am inclined to give those teams
[14:36] Speaker 2: the benefit of the doubt and say the schedule didn't break.
[14:40] Speaker 2: It's really impossible for them to have an impressive resume
[14:43] Speaker 2: right now based on what their schedule is for this team.
[14:47] Speaker 2: But I still think that offensive line, that quarterback, that
[14:52] Speaker 2: running back, by the way, James Cook, he leads the NFL.
[14:55] Speaker 2: leads the NFL in rushing. Like I still think Buffalo is,
[14:58] Speaker 2: we're going to wake up at the end of the
[15:00] Speaker 2: year and they're going to have double digit wins and
[15:03] Speaker 2: be a problem. And let's say they lose to the chiefs.
[15:07] Speaker 2: Then all of us, Miami, Tampa, Houston, Pittsburgh, like we
[15:11] Speaker 2: can poke holes in any of those opponents, Cincinnati, new England, Cleveland.
[15:15] Speaker 2: Like there aren't that many good teams in the NFL
[15:19] Speaker 2: this year. So if I only can judge you based
[15:22] Speaker 2: on your resume this year and what you've done, who's good?
[15:25] Speaker 2: Kansas City? Philly? Philly? Like it's not it's not a
[15:29] Speaker 2: very long list.
[15:30] Speaker 1: And Kansas City's five and three, you know, like per
[15:33] Speaker 1: what you're saying. And I do think it is worth noting.
[15:36] Speaker 1: And I did not say this. Yes, the Bills have
[15:38] Speaker 1: beaten tomato cans. But in fairness to them, they have
[15:41] Speaker 1: beaten the hell.
[15:42] Speaker 2: Out of those tomato cans.
[15:43] Speaker 4: Right.
[15:43] Speaker 2: Like they always do.
[15:44] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[15:45] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[15:45] Speaker 1: They're beaten by double digits.
[15:46] Speaker 2: You're right.
[15:46] Speaker 1: They are.
[15:47] Speaker 2: They are that sort of team.
[15:48] Speaker 1: And it is very similar, I would say, to the
[15:53] Speaker 1: Ravens when they roll. They are going to beat Bums,
[15:56] Speaker 1: and they are going to beat the Bums emphatically. It's
[15:59] Speaker 1: those other games they get a little bit dicey, but
[16:01] Speaker 1: they're not going to do a whole lot of losing
[16:03] Speaker 1: that they're not supposed to do, except when you play
[16:04] Speaker 1: against the Falcons.
[16:06] Speaker 2: Yeah, they have– I had this on Breakfast Bowl the
[16:10] Speaker 2: other day when they came out of the Carolina game.
[16:12] Speaker 2: That was their 10th win of 28 or more points
[16:18] Speaker 2: in the last five years.
[16:19] Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
[16:19] Speaker 2: 28 or more in the NFL is an ass kicking.
[16:23] Speaker 2: Like that, that is a, that is a, that is
[16:24] Speaker 2: a college football power five V not type of game.
[16:29] Speaker 2: And so they, they, they can kick your ass if
[16:31] Speaker 2: you're really bad and not in their class. And yeah,
[16:33] Speaker 2: your point is valid. Like they, they can't beat the
[16:36] Speaker 2: chiefs in the playoffs. Josh Allen hasn't been the problem. Like,
[16:39] Speaker 2: in the regular season or the playoffs, like he's got
[16:41] Speaker 2: 24 touchdowns against five turnovers in his 10 career games
[16:44] Speaker 2: against the chiefs. Like Josh Allen will show up. It's
[16:47] Speaker 2: just that that other team has 15 and Andy Reed
[16:50] Speaker 2: and everybody else. So, you know, there's really nothing Buffalo
[16:54] Speaker 2: I think can prove to the masses at large in
[16:56] Speaker 2: this game. But let's be honest, man. Like what if
[16:59] Speaker 2: Kansas city loses? Yeah.
[17:02] Speaker 3: Oh, we'll turn so fast.
[17:03] Speaker 1: Right.
[17:04] Speaker 3: They'll be sitting on a five and four.
[17:06] Speaker 1: They are fortunate in that the Chargers thing hasn't turned
[17:10] Speaker 1: out like it looked like it was going too early
[17:12] Speaker 1: because there was two sides, two sides of the coin
[17:14] Speaker 1: in that game in Brazil in week one.
[17:16] Speaker 2: It was like, oh, my gosh, what's going on with
[17:18] Speaker 2: the Chiefs?
[17:18] Speaker 1: But hey, look at the Chargers, even though looking back,
[17:21] Speaker 1: that game was not like. given the uniqueness of the
[17:25] Speaker 1: circumstances and the margin was not so great that maybe
[17:28] Speaker 1: it didn't mean as much as any of us wanted
[17:30] Speaker 1: to believe that it meant at the time, but Buffalo's
[17:34] Speaker 1: got 10 games left and five of them are tricky.
[17:36] Speaker 3: They got the chiefs at home, the bucks at home
[17:39] Speaker 3: at Houston.
[17:40] Speaker 1: And I think the Houston is one of those where
[17:42] Speaker 1: it's going to turn where they probably played better than
[17:44] Speaker 1: their record indicated early.
[17:45] Speaker 2: And I think that one starts coming around.
[17:47] Speaker 3: They got at.
[17:49] Speaker 1: The Steelers, um, at the patriots and they've got the
[17:54] Speaker 1: eagles second last week of the year oh yeah that's
[17:57] Speaker 1: there we go those are the five.
[17:59] Speaker 2: Yeah like so if you were going to say who
[18:02] Speaker 2: can you more reasonably see missing the playoffs chiefs or
[18:07] Speaker 2: bills you would say it's the bills comfortably correct.
[18:10] Speaker 1: I would say it's the bills and i think it's
[18:11] Speaker 1: in line with your point that's the benefit of the
[18:13] Speaker 1: doubt factor that the chiefs have heard like we're at
[18:16] Speaker 1: like buffalo How many years in a row is it
[18:18] Speaker 1: now that they've won that division? Is it something like six?
[18:21] Speaker 2: It's six.
[18:21] Speaker 6: Yeah.
[18:23] Speaker 1: That's kind of crazy. Like, I don't think we discussed
[18:26] Speaker 1: that nearly enough that they are now the way the
[18:29] Speaker 1: chiefs are running that division. Like we're in the way
[18:32] Speaker 1: that the Patriots were running the East, except I think
[18:34] Speaker 1: the difference is, well, with Buffalo is the same division
[18:36] Speaker 1: that we've long found to be mediocre. The chiefs thing
[18:39] Speaker 1: is we haven't felt that way necessarily about the division
[18:41] Speaker 1: and they just keep walking through.
[18:43] Speaker 2: Yeah. I think that, you know, the AFC West gets like, well,
[18:46] Speaker 2: they've got, Harbaugh and Sean Payton. And it's just like
[18:49] Speaker 2: now Pete Carroll, like it's just, it's an impressive group there.
[18:52] Speaker 2: We saw the Patriots dominate the East for even longer
[18:55] Speaker 2: than the bills have dominated the East and the bills
[18:58] Speaker 2: haven't backed it up with doing anything in the playoffs
[19:00] Speaker 2: that anybody cares about. I think that I think that's
[19:03] Speaker 2: really the biggest thing. It's like, oh, OK, well, so
[19:05] Speaker 2: you dominate a bad division and then you lose in
[19:07] Speaker 2: the divisional round of the playoffs. Like, how impressed am
[19:10] Speaker 2: I supposed to be by that? And I don't think
[19:12] Speaker 2: that's entirely fair, but I do think that's why we
[19:16] Speaker 2: kind of downgrade their regular season dominance. Like, let me
[19:19] Speaker 2: go ahead. Let me tell you this, though, buddy.
[19:21] Speaker 1: I can't imagine how cracking is going to be in
[19:23] Speaker 1: that stadium because, you know. as Nick would say, it's
[19:25] Speaker 1: Super Bowl time for the Buffalo Bills.
[19:28] Speaker 3: And he's not wrong. He's not wrong. They get this
[19:30] Speaker 3: game at home against the Chiefs.
[19:31] Speaker 1: Because look, man, for them, it ain't just about the teams.
[19:35] Speaker 1: It's also about the Josh Allen thing. They love him
[19:39] Speaker 1: in a very unique and special way. And they want
[19:41] Speaker 1: all the best things for him.
[19:43] Speaker 3: And this is a time. This is another example.
[19:46] Speaker 4: I know.
[19:46] Speaker 2: And I know that like, I heard you, I saw
[19:49] Speaker 2: the clip of you saying like that everybody loves Josh
[19:51] Speaker 2: Allen and the media roots for him. And I was like,
[19:53] Speaker 2: is he talking about me? It's everybody.
[19:57] Speaker 1: I know. I know.
[19:58] Speaker 2: Well, but here's what I will say about it in
[20:00] Speaker 2: like defense, I guess, of the opinions at large. Cause
[20:03] Speaker 2: like Nick and I were going back and forth at
[20:04] Speaker 2: this yesterday on TV and he was like rattling off
[20:07] Speaker 2: all the people that said Josh Allen was the best
[20:09] Speaker 2: quarterback in the world. He's like, people are so quick
[20:10] Speaker 2: to move on from home. So I'm like, I at
[20:12] Speaker 2: least never said that. My thing has always been though.
[20:16] Speaker 2: I think as much of a foregone conclusion as it
[20:18] Speaker 2: is that Mahomes is the best, it should also be
[20:22] Speaker 2: nearly that much of a consensus majority of opinion that
[20:25] Speaker 2: the second best quarterback in the NFL is Josh Allen.
[20:29] Speaker 1: That's where I disagree because I think that's really selling
[20:34] Speaker 1: Lamar short. Now, of course, the issue becomes the drop
[20:39] Speaker 1: in performance in postseason.
[20:42] Speaker 2: That's a pretty big one.
[20:43] Speaker 1: It's a pretty big one, but all I'm saying is,
[20:45] Speaker 1: We never dropped Peyton Manning to number three, or in
[20:49] Speaker 1: some cases below number one, under very, very, very similar
[20:54] Speaker 1: circumstances through this point in his career.
[20:56] Speaker 2: Okay, but I hear what you're saying, and comparing eras
[21:01] Speaker 2: is like a worthwhile cause, but I think that there are,
[21:04] Speaker 2: like the game has changed, what we value changed, we
[21:06] Speaker 2: get smarter, different stats, whatever the case may be. Like,
[21:10] Speaker 2: since 2020, Mahomes is first in the NFL. In passing yards,
[21:16] Speaker 2: passing touchdowns, wins, and playoff wins. Josh Allen is third
[21:22] Speaker 2: in passing yards, second in passing touchdowns, second in wins,
[21:28] Speaker 2: and second in playoff wins. And the only guy who
[21:31] Speaker 2: passed him in passing yards was Justin Herbert. It was
[21:33] Speaker 2: like two weeks ago. So Allen, in terms of the
[21:37] Speaker 2: quarterbacking things that we care about, the yards, the touchdowns,
[21:42] Speaker 2: the winning, the playoff wins. He's second to the goat.
[21:46] Speaker 2: So I just, I feel like it's like a fairly,
[21:49] Speaker 2: now the highs of Lamar, the difficulty of defending Lamar,
[21:54] Speaker 2: multiple MVPs. Lamar's amazing. And with all of this, we
[21:58] Speaker 2: are parsing greatness. But if Josh Allen also balls out
[22:01] Speaker 2: in the playoffs and Lamar doesn't, I feel like that's
[22:03] Speaker 2: a reasonable place to put the tiebreaker.
[22:06] Speaker 3: While I hear you. And I don't do a lot
[22:09] Speaker 3: of stat leaning at this point.
[22:11] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[22:12] Speaker 1: But I think we're ignoring that the dude last year
[22:16] Speaker 1: had 41 touchdowns and four interceptions.
[22:18] Speaker 3: And I also think that.
[22:22] Speaker 1: He is the central node of his offense in the
[22:26] Speaker 1: way that Allen is in his, it's not just about
[22:30] Speaker 1: what the numbers are. It's that everything that happens here
[22:32] Speaker 1: is because of this guy. Now we're at a place
[22:34] Speaker 1: where they went and got Lamar, got some dudes around
[22:36] Speaker 1: him in a way that Allen no longer does. Right. Like, like,
[22:40] Speaker 1: The Stefan Diggs is not there anymore, for example, though
[22:43] Speaker 1: they do have James Cook. They put the stuff around Lamar,
[22:46] Speaker 1: but this is about Lamar. The advanced statistical case for
[22:49] Speaker 1: Lamar is also pretty spectacular. I think it is a debate,
[22:56] Speaker 1: and I think that that's where I think that we go.
[22:58] Speaker 3: A little too hard because of the postseason stuff with him.
[23:00] Speaker 1: Not to say that having Allen at number two is unreasonable,
[23:05] Speaker 1: but I don't think that it's indisputable.
[23:07] Speaker 3: I think that's my thing.
[23:09] Speaker 2: Yeah, and listen, I mean, if I say it's indisputable
[23:12] Speaker 2: and then you dispute it, that immediately makes me wrong.
[23:17] Speaker 2: So I guess I'm happy to concede the point. I just–
[23:21] Speaker 2: I will defer to the guy who– got it done
[23:25] Speaker 2: in the playoffs more now. And again, neither of them
[23:28] Speaker 2: have gotten done in the playoffs at the ultimate level.
[23:30] Speaker 2: And I do think I over sell the 13 second game.
[23:35] Speaker 2: I'm like, Josh Allen had 300. Oh, that's, that's, that's
[23:38] Speaker 2: the ultimate man. Only, only a Josh Allen can get
[23:40] Speaker 2: credit for what, for not winning. Oh, I watched the
[23:45] Speaker 2: game too.
[23:46] Speaker 1: It was pretty good. I'm not saying it wasn't good, man.
[23:48] Speaker 2: I was there. I mean, I wasn't there.
[23:50] Speaker 1: I mean, he never got the ball back. Yeah, that's
[23:53] Speaker 1: how it goes. Finally, for the first time ever, people
[23:57] Speaker 1: were like, wait a minute. Sudden death is wrong because
[24:00] Speaker 1: Josh ain't get the ball.
[24:01] Speaker 2: No, I didn't want it changed. I don't need my
[24:03] Speaker 2: overtime to be fair, but I do need to be like,
[24:06] Speaker 2: he can't beat Mahomes in the playoffs. I'm like, yeah,
[24:08] Speaker 2: he can.
[24:09] Speaker 1: Well, maybe he can, but the bottom line is he
[24:11] Speaker 1: did not.
[24:12] Speaker 2: That's right. The bottom line is that he did not.
[24:16] Speaker 3: The bottom line is that he did not.
[24:18] Speaker 1: Look, we're big fans of the big galoot over here, right?
[24:22] Speaker 1: I want to make sure that we're very clear about this.
[24:24] Speaker 1: We are big fans of the big galoot.
[24:27] Speaker 3: I'll be hoping, man, just hoping, just hoping.
[24:31] Speaker 2: And I want to be clear that I am big
[24:32] Speaker 2: fans of Lamar. Like before last year, I would still
[24:35] Speaker 2: have made like a burrow over Lamar argument. And now
[24:38] Speaker 2: I'm like fully off that. Yeah.
[24:39] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[24:40] Speaker 2: Yeah. So that was, that was people overreacting.
[24:42] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[24:42] Speaker 2: That was overreacting. I will, I will fully concede that.
[24:45] Speaker 2: And Lamar stays on the field in a way that
[24:48] Speaker 2: burrow does not. And burrow is better in the playoffs,
[24:51] Speaker 2: but he's not there as often. And so like, I'm,
[24:54] Speaker 2: I'm not, well, Lamar is to me very clearly at three.
[24:58] Speaker 2: But yeah, and so Lamar is Lamar is spectacular. And
[25:01] Speaker 2: by the way, there's the reason why the Ravens right now,
[25:06] Speaker 2: even though they are two and five are favored to
[25:10] Speaker 2: win the AFC North is their path compared to Pittsburgh's
[25:14] Speaker 2: path is so much easier. Just the next like they
[25:18] Speaker 2: don't play Pittsburgh until week 14. They very easily could
[25:22] Speaker 2: be tied or in first place before they even beat
[25:25] Speaker 2: them one time. So Lamar coming back, I think, changes
[25:29] Speaker 2: everything for them. And I do still expect the Ravens
[25:31] Speaker 2: to win that division.
[25:32] Speaker 1: Hey, speaking of Pittsburgh, I just read something. Did y'all's
[25:35] Speaker 1: homeboy get his nipples pierced?
[25:37] Speaker 2: He did. Yeah, yesterday.
[25:39] Speaker 1: They got a homeboy named Pony. And Pony worked on
[25:43] Speaker 1: the radio. And I forget what he said, that if
[25:46] Speaker 1: something happened, he would get his nipples pierced. I got
[25:48] Speaker 1: to be honest. It wasn't that, like... It was on
[25:52] Speaker 1: the board that this could happen, whatever the thing. What
[25:54] Speaker 1: was the thing?
[25:55] Speaker 2: It was Steelers-Bengals two weeks ago.
[25:58] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. On a Thursday night on the road,
[26:00] Speaker 1: I got to say, I just think he wanted to
[26:02] Speaker 1: get his nipples pierced because that was not nearly hyperbolic
[26:06] Speaker 1: enough to justify the risk.
[26:07] Speaker 3: And next thing you know, you look up.
[26:09] Speaker 1: He out here looking like Janet Jackson.
[26:11] Speaker 2: That is right. And, you know, he's a showman. He's
[26:15] Speaker 2: a performer. He's king of Pittsburgh radio. He turned it
[26:19] Speaker 2: into a– he pivoted nicely– Breast Cancer Awareness Month, they raised,
[26:23] Speaker 2: I think, $ 12, 000 last night at a bar. Packed the house,
[26:26] Speaker 2: a bunch of people showed up, bought tickets, made a donation.
[26:29] Speaker 2: Pat Fryermuth donated some game-worn cleats that they auctioned off,
[26:32] Speaker 2: that sort of thing. But yeah, right now, both of
[26:36] Speaker 2: his nipples are pierced. And I haven't spoken to him
[26:38] Speaker 2: yet today, but we were texting last night and he
[26:41] Speaker 2: said his nipples were burning. I'm like, yeah, I bet.
[26:43] Speaker 2: You didn't need to tell me that. But he also
[26:45] Speaker 2: added in the tweet, without a numbing agent. Like why?
[26:50] Speaker 1: Because the real answer to this, to me very clearly,
[26:52] Speaker 1: is he a freak. Like he just, he just a freak. Like,
[26:59] Speaker 1: like he needed an excuse to get this freak shit off.
[27:02] Speaker 1: And he, he, he put it, he put it out
[27:04] Speaker 1: there and then he went and he went, yeah, yeah.
[27:06] Speaker 1: He didn't do no numbing agent.
[27:07] Speaker 4: Nah, man.
[27:08] Speaker 3: He wanted to feel that pain.
[27:09] Speaker 2: You understand what I'm saying?
[27:11] Speaker 1: Like, yeah.
[27:11] Speaker 2: And I mean, I'm not going to out my boy
[27:13] Speaker 2: from college too much, but you're on it.
[27:16] Speaker 1: Yeah. You just learned some things about the homie that
[27:18] Speaker 1: maybe you knew it ain't telling us, but I could
[27:20] Speaker 1: tell right now, like he, he, he, he, he, he
[27:23] Speaker 1: a freaky deaky.
[27:24] Speaker 3: That's, that's, that's, that's, that's what it is. Like I'd
[27:26] Speaker 3: never really thought about how this relates to men, but I.
[27:29] Speaker 2: Guess, yeah, he a freaky deaky.
[27:30] Speaker 3: That's the, that's the only explanation.
[27:33] Speaker 2: Andrew, Andrew Filippone. Yeah. Yeah.
[27:36] Speaker 1: By the way, talking about spinning radio events, I have
[27:38] Speaker 1: to bring this up because I think that this went
[27:40] Speaker 1: on during a time that I wasn't really on the
[27:42] Speaker 1: internet and I was not aware of, but a buddy
[27:44] Speaker 1: of mine made me aware of. guys this guy danny
[27:47] Speaker 1: parkins one time in chicago got so tired these people
[27:50] Speaker 1: talk about what about chicago that he helped to fuck
[27:52] Speaker 1: like could you like i'm dead serious because this was
[27:55] Speaker 1: one of the most impressive things that i had ever
[27:56] Speaker 1: seen you did this with the the acho that people like.
[28:00] Speaker 2: Uh yes sam acho yeah wow thank you for bringing
[28:04] Speaker 2: that up um i think i'm wearing yeah i got
[28:07] Speaker 2: my undershirt on right now is one of the shirts
[28:08] Speaker 2: we we sold for that event it says keep chicago
[28:11] Speaker 2: out of your mouth um I listen, I'm a privileged
[28:15] Speaker 2: kid from the north side of Chicago who then moved
[28:17] Speaker 2: to the more privileged northern suburbs of Chicago. But I
[28:21] Speaker 2: read and I know people from the city and all
[28:24] Speaker 2: parts of Chicago. And it would really piss me off
[28:26] Speaker 2: when politicians would make the very disingenuous when they were
[28:30] Speaker 2: talking about gun control. They would be like, well, gun
[28:32] Speaker 2: control doesn't work. What about Chicago? They've got strict gun laws,
[28:36] Speaker 2: but they've got all these gun deaths. And I was like,
[28:38] Speaker 2: you you guys don't give a shit about Chicago anymore.
[28:41] Speaker 2: you know, damn well that it's a eight minute drive
[28:44] Speaker 2: across the bridge to Indiana and the gun laws there
[28:47] Speaker 2: are so lax. And like 40% of guns that are
[28:50] Speaker 2: recovered in violent crime in Chicago come from out of state.
[28:52] Speaker 2: They know all these numbers and they do not care.
[28:54] Speaker 2: And they just use Chicago as this argument to, to
[28:57] Speaker 2: shit on the city when they don't live there and
[28:59] Speaker 2: they don't care about it. And so this is long story.
[29:03] Speaker 2: I'll tell as quickly as I can. But when the
[29:07] Speaker 2: George Floyd murder happened and there was all that, civic unrest.
[29:12] Speaker 2: There was, there's this group of kids, uh, at this
[29:15] Speaker 2: like afterschool academy in Chicago that, uh, had this liquor
[29:19] Speaker 2: store that was across the street from their afterschool program
[29:22] Speaker 2: where a bunch of bad stuff was happening, drug deals,
[29:25] Speaker 2: things like that. And it got, it got looted, um,
[29:29] Speaker 2: and got torn up or whatever. And Sam Acho and
[29:32] Speaker 2: some other, uh, Jason Hayward and other people put money
[29:36] Speaker 2: together to buy the liquor store, tear it down, pave
[29:40] Speaker 2: over it. And the kids started a food mart program
[29:45] Speaker 2: because they were in a food desert in the Austin
[29:47] Speaker 2: neighborhood on the west side of Chicago. And they partnered
[29:49] Speaker 2: with a grocery store and they were able to get
[29:52] Speaker 2: tomatoes and avocados and whatever, you know, produce. for cost
[29:56] Speaker 2: to sell to the neighborhood. So the kids had an
[29:59] Speaker 2: entrepreneurial program. They were able to provide healthy food in
[30:02] Speaker 2: a place where there wasn't a grocery store within walking distance,
[30:04] Speaker 2: that sort of thing. But the problem with a food
[30:07] Speaker 2: mart in an open air area on some pavement in
[30:10] Speaker 2: Chicago is it gets cold. And so I was really
[30:14] Speaker 2: moved by this story and they were having to shut
[30:17] Speaker 2: down the food mart around holiday season in Chicago. And
[30:21] Speaker 2: so we did this radiothon. I did this 24 hour radiothon.
[30:24] Speaker 2: I called it the, what about Chicago radiothon? Like turning
[30:27] Speaker 2: it on its head. Like you talking about Chicago? What
[30:29] Speaker 2: about Chicago? And broadcast for 24 hours, brought on a
[30:33] Speaker 2: lot of those athletes who funded the grocery store, brought
[30:35] Speaker 2: on the kids, brought on people who talked about the
[30:37] Speaker 2: benefits of, you know, closing food deserts. And we raised
[30:41] Speaker 2: $ 670, 000 and built a 1700 square foot, uh, refrigeration, security,
[30:52] Speaker 2: grocery store that still exists in Austin to this day
[30:54] Speaker 2: that is fully staffed by kids.
[30:57] Speaker 1: That is pretty incredible. Coming up next, we'll talk about
[30:59] Speaker 1: the incredible Austin Reeves. All right, Ryan, you got DraftKings

[32:16] Speaker 3: All right, we are back with Danny Parkins.
[32:20] Speaker 1: I want to switch to a little NBA because I
[32:22] Speaker 1: do think what's going on with the Lakers right now
[32:23] Speaker 1: is really, really interesting, right? So start the year, Luka
[32:26] Speaker 1: puts up 40 with LeBron sitting there saying nothing.
[32:32] Speaker 2: Been there, been there. No, no, nothing's wrong. No, I
[32:35] Speaker 2: just want to watch the game.
[32:37] Speaker 3: The problem is you asking me if something's wrong.
[32:40] Speaker 1: You know, so we've seen that. Then Luka put up
[32:42] Speaker 1: another 40 in game two and he gets hurt. And
[32:45] Speaker 1: then Austin Reeves comes out and puts up a 50,
[32:48] Speaker 1: 11 and nine and then puts up another 40 the
[32:52] Speaker 1: next night. This is, hey man, I don't know what
[32:56] Speaker 1: this means, but there was a time when Austin Reeves
[32:58] Speaker 1: would do this and this is like the AR-15. Hey man,
[33:01] Speaker 1: he'd be the most famous man in America right now
[33:03] Speaker 1: for putting up this run. Like maybe he needed to
[33:05] Speaker 1: do this when he was a little sorrier and then
[33:07] Speaker 1: it could be Linsanity.
[33:09] Speaker 2: Yeah, and football season. We are peak college football, NFL,
[33:16] Speaker 2: the unbelievable World Series. No one's paying attention to early
[33:20] Speaker 2: season NBA unless it's Victor Wembanyama.
[33:23] Speaker 4: Yes.
[33:23] Speaker 2: Who? I mean, ridiculous. But yeah, I mean, Austin Reeves
[33:31] Speaker 2: right now is averaging a cool 34 points, five and
[33:36] Speaker 2: a half boards, 10 assists. 1.8 steals.
[33:41] Speaker 4: That'll play.
[33:42] Speaker 2: That'll play for the headband wearing Austin Reeves. And in
[33:46] Speaker 2: 38 minutes a night, like second best player on the team.
[33:53] Speaker 1: Oh. Just saying.
[33:56] Speaker 3: I'm not ready to do that. I understand you.
[34:02] Speaker 1: There's certainly a plausible statistical argument for this fact.
[34:05] Speaker 3: Now, let me ask this question because this.
[34:07] Speaker 1: Is what I think is interesting about it, which is
[34:10] Speaker 1: when the Linsanity run happened, a lot of people said, well, hey,
[34:13] Speaker 1: if you let me come out here and run high
[34:15] Speaker 1: pick and roll every time down the floor, it would
[34:18] Speaker 1: look similar too. There was a guy named Matt Maloney
[34:20] Speaker 1: who played for the Rockets who during the playoffs one
[34:23] Speaker 1: year did the same thing to Gary Payton.
[34:25] Speaker 3: Gary Payton was furious. Cause he's like, it's just high
[34:28] Speaker 3: screen to roll every time.
[34:29] Speaker 1: Like you get out here and do, I mean, cause
[34:32] Speaker 1: Matt Maloney, by the way, was like if Austin Reeves
[34:35] Speaker 1: went to prep school.
[34:36] Speaker 3: Like he went to UPenn, if I'm not mistaken.
[34:40] Speaker 4: Oh, nice.
[34:40] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[34:41] Speaker 3: And he's out here giving it to Gary Payne, right?
[34:44] Speaker 2: It was a similar sort of thing.
[34:45] Speaker 1: Is Austin Reeves a guy where if you create a
[34:48] Speaker 1: circumstance that allows him to be your best player, he
[34:51] Speaker 1: could be the guy who does this. You don't necessarily
[34:54] Speaker 1: win anything. but he could put up big numbers under
[34:56] Speaker 1: these circumstances. But does that mean he's actually a guy
[34:59] Speaker 1: that could be the second or third best player on
[35:01] Speaker 1: a really good team? Because like the way it's looking,
[35:04] Speaker 1: I think we all agree. Luke is a top five
[35:06] Speaker 1: to seven player in the league.
[35:08] Speaker 4: Oh yeah.
[35:08] Speaker 1: If Austin Reeves is a credible number two, Right? Because, look,
[35:13] Speaker 1: I don't know how much LeBron is actually going to
[35:14] Speaker 1: play this year. Not that he doesn't want to, but
[35:17] Speaker 1: a man his age, I don't think you can just
[35:19] Speaker 1: write down 65 games.
[35:20] Speaker 3: That's not, you know, he got my back hurt right now.
[35:26] Speaker 2: All right? That's right.
[35:27] Speaker 1: That's a thing.
[35:28] Speaker 2: That's a thing.
[35:29] Speaker 1: But I don't know what Austin Reeves is. I guess
[35:32] Speaker 1: we've seen what Austin Reeves is if he's the two
[35:34] Speaker 1: or three. And it wasn't anything that made us believe
[35:36] Speaker 1: that he could be the guy that scores 50 when
[35:38] Speaker 1: he's got the chance.
[35:40] Speaker 2: Right. So like, I don't know. There's a, there's a
[35:43] Speaker 2: few things here. I think that the NBA is the
[35:46] Speaker 2: only sport that real realistically has enough talent where I
[35:49] Speaker 2: would be totally comfortable with expansion. Like there are, there's
[35:53] Speaker 2: so many talented basketball players that are on the bench
[35:56] Speaker 2: that I'm not like to your point, I'm not saying
[35:57] Speaker 2: that it would be if they got their moment in
[36:00] Speaker 2: the sun, that they would be the best player on
[36:02] Speaker 2: a championship team, but that they could average 27 a game.
[36:06] Speaker 2: and look like an NBA player. We see those types
[36:08] Speaker 2: of stories all the time where guys come in and
[36:11] Speaker 2: make an outsized impact. And you're like, who the hell
[36:12] Speaker 2: is that guy? And it's like, yeah, he just got
[36:14] Speaker 2: the minutes. Like someone got to get buckets on bad teams.
[36:16] Speaker 2: It's an NBA truism. But I also believe that to
[36:21] Speaker 2: really win in the NBA of your top three guys,
[36:27] Speaker 2: two of them have to be two way players. Yeah.
[36:30] Speaker 2: Like you can't have like the, the bulls team, A
[36:34] Speaker 2: couple of years ago, like Chicago guy, love the Bulls,
[36:37] Speaker 2: like DeMar DeRozan, Zach Levine, Nikola Vucevic, where there are
[36:42] Speaker 2: three highest paid players. There are three, quote unquote, best players.
[36:45] Speaker 2: All of them were traffic cones. Right.
[36:49] Speaker 1: Right.
[36:49] Speaker 2: And it's like, well, then they had Caruso and they
[36:51] Speaker 2: had Lonzo Ball. And like, yeah, but then Lonzo got hurt, whatever.
[36:54] Speaker 2: But like you, why Giannis is so special is because
[36:56] Speaker 2: he's a two way impact player. Right.
[36:58] Speaker 3: The Knicks are in this bind.
[37:00] Speaker 2: Exactly. Brunson and Cat are their best players, but they
[37:04] Speaker 2: are both liabilities on the defensive end of the court.
[37:06] Speaker 2: Your best players need to you need to also have
[37:09] Speaker 2: an impact from them defensively or else it's too hard
[37:11] Speaker 2: to construct your team based on the money. So I
[37:14] Speaker 2: don't think Luca, Austin Reeves and LeBron as your big three,
[37:18] Speaker 2: quote unquote, at this stage of what LeBron can do
[37:21] Speaker 2: athletically with availability, athleticism and the oh, my back hurts.
[37:25] Speaker 2: I don't think that that's a thing that can win anything.
[37:27] Speaker 1: Hey, Ken, I see what I don't know and I
[37:30] Speaker 1: need to watch them more closely. I need to find
[37:32] Speaker 1: out if Austin Reeves really isn't a good defensive player or,
[37:36] Speaker 1: you know, y'all out here, crabs in a barrel, don't
[37:39] Speaker 1: want to give no props to y'all's countrymen and acknowledge
[37:42] Speaker 1: the possibility that he might be out here playing some defense.
[37:45] Speaker 1: But I'm going to tell you this right now, Austin Reeves,
[37:47] Speaker 1: and then we'll give you some very important advice, okay?
[37:50] Speaker 1: You keep balling like this and things have changed a
[37:54] Speaker 1: little bit. but I still think there's a lot of
[37:57] Speaker 1: money out there for you just as being the one
[38:00] Speaker 1: that's not like the other.
[38:01] Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
[38:02] Speaker 1: Like you can really, you're going to be talking to
[38:04] Speaker 1: all the schools, like all the kids going to be out,
[38:06] Speaker 1: you know, like it's, it's the world is.
[38:09] Speaker 3: The games out there, games out there waiting.
[38:12] Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
[38:13] Speaker 1: It's all there for Austin Reeves, but this is a
[38:14] Speaker 1: very important thing that he and his marketing people need
[38:17] Speaker 1: to understand. They're going to stop loving you, or at
[38:21] Speaker 1: least they're not going to have you in the same category.
[38:24] Speaker 1: if you mess around and start getting your hair cut
[38:27] Speaker 1: with the rest of the team.
[38:30] Speaker 2: Okay?
[38:30] Speaker 3: Maybe you need to go get your hair.
[38:32] Speaker 1: Cut where Rui get his hair cut, because he does
[38:34] Speaker 1: not seem to get his hair cut with the rest
[38:36] Speaker 1: of the team, but you need to keep that floppy
[38:38] Speaker 1: shit going.
[38:38] Speaker 3: Like, you think about this.
[38:40] Speaker 1: They don't give Tyler Hero no bonus white boy points
[38:42] Speaker 1: at basketball, and I think it is entirely tied to
[38:45] Speaker 1: white people believe in the quality of your whiteness based
[38:48] Speaker 1: on how cool your haircut is. And if you mess
[38:51] Speaker 1: up and get a cool haircut, It's all going to
[38:54] Speaker 1: go away. Like even Luca, Luca's haircut is like moderately cool.
[38:58] Speaker 3: He ain't really going there. Like Tyler Hero looked like
[39:00] Speaker 3: he might fly his barber around.
[39:04] Speaker 2: So should he go all the way with the Kirk
[39:07] Speaker 2: Cousins sport clip sponsorship?
[39:10] Speaker 1: I mean, I'm just saying, there's more money in that.
[39:13] Speaker 1: That playwright, that archetype, right? You could do that. It
[39:16] Speaker 1: would help him if he was from the Midwest, because Arkansas,
[39:19] Speaker 1: people talk bad about Arkansas. But if he was from
[39:22] Speaker 1: Indiana or Iowa or Kansas or one of those places
[39:26] Speaker 1: and was just out here flopping it, it'd be it'd
[39:29] Speaker 1: be good times for him.
[39:30] Speaker 2: How do you feel if he went like the Justin
[39:33] Speaker 2: Herbert route and like got himself a very famous Madison
[39:36] Speaker 2: beer type like chatting, chatting someone up courtside at a
[39:41] Speaker 2: Lakers game?
[39:42] Speaker 1: Could see that's going to be the key for him
[39:43] Speaker 1: is like what he parlays this into.
[39:46] Speaker 2: Right.
[39:46] Speaker 1: Because like I say, the world right now is his oyster.
[39:51] Speaker 1: There are guys in the NBA that you would know of,
[39:54] Speaker 1: but aren't necessarily top 50, 75 guys. And I know
[39:57] Speaker 1: the people that they's able to get hooked up with.
[39:59] Speaker 1: And I'm talking about black ones. They is able to
[40:01] Speaker 1: get into some places that I'm telling you, Austin Reeves
[40:03] Speaker 1: might be able to put you just show up with
[40:05] Speaker 1: the right car at the mall. And you might have
[40:07] Speaker 1: a chance at making that happen. But right now the Lakers,
[40:10] Speaker 1: the Lakers ain't just had a regular degular white dude
[40:13] Speaker 1: really out here killing it since Jerry West.
[40:16] Speaker 2: Oh, damn.
[40:18] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[40:19] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[40:19] Speaker 1: Like, they was happy about Kurt Rambis.
[40:23] Speaker 2: Well, you said before we started recording of, like, it's
[40:26] Speaker 2: the type of guy who 8-year-old me would own his jersey.
[40:28] Speaker 4: That's right.
[40:29] Speaker 2: That's right. I've been thinking about that for the last
[40:30] Speaker 2: 39 minutes, and it's so true. Like, it's just, like,
[40:35] Speaker 2: so on the nose. Like, when I saw Jon Paxson
[40:38] Speaker 2: as a kid, I was like, I can play in
[40:39] Speaker 2: the NBA?
[40:40] Speaker 1: Yeah. It's like this. You would not just have the jersey.
[40:42] Speaker 1: You would have the jersey because your parents would buy
[40:44] Speaker 1: it for you. Like, that's... You can be anything you
[40:48] Speaker 1: want to be, son.
[40:49] Speaker 2: That's right.
[40:50] Speaker 3: That's right.
[40:51] Speaker 1: Like, Austin Reeves should play for the Patriots. Like, it's
[40:55] Speaker 1: that kind of situation. But he actually, he's good. Like,
[40:58] Speaker 1: I think that's an important thing to know. Like, Alex
[41:00] Speaker 1: Caruso became an interesting case because people couldn't figure out
[41:02] Speaker 1: what to do with, hey, he's an NBA player. Austin
[41:05] Speaker 1: Reeves appears to be a better than average NBA, like, maybe,
[41:10] Speaker 1: you know, 70th percentile NBA player.
[41:15] Speaker 4: Oh, man.
[41:15] Speaker 2: I mean....
[41:17] Speaker 3: I mean, he's putting up 50 points.
[41:18] Speaker 2: I was going to say, I feel like we may
[41:20] Speaker 2: need to go a little higher than the 70th percentile.
[41:23] Speaker 1: Look, man, I got to be careful. I can't get
[41:27] Speaker 1: too wrapped up here, but that's a fair point.
[41:30] Speaker 2: I don't think that 30% of players in the NBA
[41:34] Speaker 2: can drop 50. That's a good question.
[41:38] Speaker 1: Right? Okay, so I don't think 30% of the NBA
[41:40] Speaker 1: could drop 50 and then drop 40 the next night.
[41:44] Speaker 2: Right. That's, I guess that is more accurately what I'm saying. Like,
[41:47] Speaker 2: I think that that is, that is a real amount
[41:50] Speaker 2: of production.
[41:51] Speaker 3: That's fair.
[41:52] Speaker 2: That is just really impressive. I'm not saying he's Donovan Mitchell,
[41:57] Speaker 2: you know, I'm not saying he's that level of score,
[42:00] Speaker 2: but I think, I don't think he's in the 70th
[42:02] Speaker 2: percentile of players. And yeah, like Caruso is an interesting
[42:05] Speaker 2: one too. Like Caruso is excellent at defense and then
[42:10] Speaker 2: he can like do a couple other things. Like But
[42:12] Speaker 2: Alex Caruso is not going to go out there and
[42:14] Speaker 2: go like 30-10-10.
[42:16] Speaker 3: You're correct.
[42:17] Speaker 2: You know, so the white specialist is one thing. Like
[42:21] Speaker 2: the white American all-around hooper. Right. It's a rare breed.
[42:27] Speaker 1: We got a white boy scoring putting up 50, and
[42:30] Speaker 1: we got a white boy playing on the all-defense team.
[42:34] Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
[42:35] Speaker 1: Hey, man.
[42:37] Speaker 4: And the number one pick. That's right.
[42:39] Speaker 2: That's right. And the number one pick.
[42:40] Speaker 1: Not just the number one pick, but like the number
[42:42] Speaker 1: one pick and everybody sees it.
[42:44] Speaker 3: Look, man, it's been a lot of times that y'all
[42:46] Speaker 3: could have just quit.
[42:47] Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
[42:48] Speaker 1: It's been a lot of opportunities that y'all had to
[42:50] Speaker 1: just turn around. The way you've been getting shit on
[42:52] Speaker 1: by all these people and people saying that y'all ain't
[42:54] Speaker 1: got it.
[42:55] Speaker 3: But these cats kept on going. These cats, they kept
[42:57] Speaker 3: on pushing through. You know what I'm saying? In spite
[43:00] Speaker 3: of all the bad influences that was around them.
[43:03] Speaker 2: It's a story of perseverance. It is. Really.
[43:06] Speaker 5: Hey, man.
[43:07] Speaker 2: Look, man.
[43:08] Speaker 3: You got like we always talk.
[43:09] Speaker 1: A guy called my radio show many years ago said
[43:11] Speaker 1: to be as short as a constant fight for credibility.
[43:13] Speaker 3: I don't know if that is the case. And that
[43:15] Speaker 3: is true.
[43:15] Speaker 1: You know, neither of us got to deal with that.
[43:17] Speaker 1: So the rest of y'all, you know, we this is
[43:19] Speaker 1: what we heard about y'all. But at the same time,
[43:22] Speaker 1: it'd be as short as a fight for credibility. I
[43:24] Speaker 1: can't imagine what it is to be a white basketball player.
[43:27] Speaker 2: Hey, wait. Made a fairly popular movie about it.
[43:30] Speaker 4: They did.
[43:31] Speaker 2: White man can't jump. Got the hustle on. You put
[43:34] Speaker 2: a cat in the oven, don't make it a biscuit. Yes.
[43:38] Speaker 3: This is.
[43:39] Speaker 1: It is the wildest thing because white people just gave
[43:43] Speaker 1: up on it. Like, black people at every turn, you
[43:45] Speaker 1: tell us we can't do it.
[43:46] Speaker 2: It'll be a few.
[43:47] Speaker 1: Well, I don't want to use that word right now,
[43:49] Speaker 1: but it'll be a few dissenters that'll be quietly like,
[43:52] Speaker 1: y'all know we can't do that. But at least in
[43:53] Speaker 1: front of people, we're going to be like, hey, we
[43:55] Speaker 1: can do anything the white man can do. White people
[43:57] Speaker 1: don't even try that with a few different things. And
[43:59] Speaker 1: then when you get one.
[44:00] Speaker 2: Get a little bit too excited.
[44:02] Speaker 1: So I kind of feel like right now, it's the nice,
[44:07] Speaker 1: wonderful in-between stage.
[44:11] Speaker 2: Yeah. And again, we're not... You mentioned Linsanity in passing. I...
[44:16] Speaker 2: That is not what is happening with Austin Reeves.
[44:18] Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, no.
[44:19] Speaker 1: I'm only saying it's insanity in the sense that you
[44:22] Speaker 1: can put up, if you give a guy low expectations
[44:26] Speaker 1: and say the world is yours, that there's a set
[44:29] Speaker 1: of numbers that you could put up that doesn't necessarily
[44:31] Speaker 1: reflect where you stand in the real concept of team basketball.
[44:36] Speaker 2: Yeah, that is totally fair. And I do think that
[44:40] Speaker 2: we're going to get a fairly long runway here. for
[44:44] Speaker 2: Austin Reeves because of the LeBron injury and there'll be
[44:47] Speaker 2: plenty on national TV and playing off of Luca is
[44:50] Speaker 2: a good place to play. Like I, I think, I
[44:52] Speaker 2: think Austin Reeves is in a real nice position to
[44:55] Speaker 2: make an all-star team.
[44:57] Speaker 3: It's on the board.
[44:57] Speaker 1: And let me tell you this, man, if him and
[44:59] Speaker 1: Luca get out there balling together, they're going to be
[45:01] Speaker 1: a movie about starring them about that. They go, the
[45:04] Speaker 1: new lethal weapon is just going to be them or
[45:08] Speaker 1: like Starsky and Hutch.
[45:09] Speaker 2: Well, that's going to be an interesting basketball question in
[45:15] Speaker 2: the post-LeBron world of the Lakers. Like, can that be
[45:19] Speaker 2: your big two?
[45:22] Speaker 3: That will completely change the game.
[45:25] Speaker 1: Like that, that, that'll make me and my people be like,
[45:28] Speaker 1: we lose the country, bro.
[45:29] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[45:30] Speaker 2: There's going to be a, there's going to be a reckoning. Like,
[45:32] Speaker 2: you don't wait. The Lakers don't need a seven foot
[45:35] Speaker 2: center anymore. They need Luca and a guy named Austin
[45:38] Speaker 2: from Arkansas. Yes.
[45:40] Speaker 3: The silver Lake Lakers are in the house.
[45:43] Speaker 1: Right. Before we get out of here, you enjoy engaging
[45:47] Speaker 1: in the gambling a little bit more than I do.
[45:49] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[45:51] Speaker 3: Your top line thoughts of the last week.
[45:54] Speaker 2: Oh, damn, man. Well, Chauncey's in trouble. He's in big trouble.
[46:04] Speaker 2: If it was just the poker side of it, I
[46:11] Speaker 2: wonder if there would be a way to totally prove
[46:14] Speaker 2: that he knew about it and or if he was
[46:17] Speaker 2: just in the pocket of the mob and got in
[46:20] Speaker 2: too deep. But it's the vulnerabilities that are there are obvious.
[46:26] Speaker 2: I do think as the gambler, it is important for
[46:28] Speaker 2: me to make the point that the reason why Jonte
[46:33] Speaker 2: Porter's unders was exposed so quickly or Terry Rozier's unders
[46:37] Speaker 2: was exposed so quickly was because it was legalized. Like
[46:42] Speaker 2: the regulation is what exposed it. You're not betting five figures,
[46:46] Speaker 2: much less six figures on the seventh or eighth guy
[46:49] Speaker 2: on a team's player prop market on a given night.
[46:51] Speaker 2: Like we like to gamble, but we don't like to
[46:53] Speaker 2: gamble that much. So like that, that is a, that
[46:56] Speaker 2: is a stupid crime that those guys committed. Like it
[46:59] Speaker 2: was just, it was, it was a crime of stupidity
[47:02] Speaker 2: because they were obviously going to get caught when they
[47:06] Speaker 2: did that. Um, People say, you know, there's a cost
[47:09] Speaker 2: that comes with these leagues taking the money. And of
[47:13] Speaker 2: course that is true, but I'm not sure that people,
[47:16] Speaker 2: and I know that you do like have a full
[47:18] Speaker 2: grasp of just how much money it is. It it's,
[47:23] Speaker 2: there was a point in time. If you listen to
[47:25] Speaker 2: sports radio, the only thing you heard was car dealership commercials.
[47:31] Speaker 2: And then there was a point in time where it
[47:33] Speaker 2: was like beer distributors and every radio station in every
[47:36] Speaker 2: market in the country, was doing one or two remote
[47:39] Speaker 2: broadcasts a week, and the liquor reps were just paying
[47:43] Speaker 2: five figures in the big markets for you to just
[47:45] Speaker 2: show up with your radio show at bars because they
[47:47] Speaker 2: were just spending money in that way, hand over fist.
[47:50] Speaker 2: That is now the gambling companies. So, like, of course
[47:57] Speaker 2: the leagues are going to take the money. And there's
[47:59] Speaker 2: a cost that comes with it. But they are absolutely
[48:03] Speaker 2: willing to pay the cost because... of the massive amounts
[48:07] Speaker 2: of money that it is. And I know you said
[48:10] Speaker 2: top line thoughts and I've given you like, but like
[48:13] Speaker 2: the other part is, is that the leagues and the
[48:17] Speaker 2: gambling companies, their interests on catching this stuff is a
[48:25] Speaker 2: hundred percent aligned. Like the league doesn't want the integrity
[48:29] Speaker 2: of their games in question. And the gambling sites don't
[48:33] Speaker 2: want to be took for a bunch of money. on
[48:36] Speaker 2: some on some funny bets so like I think there
[48:38] Speaker 2: are some solves for some of it like don't make
[48:42] Speaker 2: player props a two-way market and by that I mean
[48:46] Speaker 2: you can't bet the under like you've got a if
[48:49] Speaker 2: you want to if you want to bet Austin Reeves
[48:51] Speaker 2: points you can't say under 48 and a half you
[48:56] Speaker 2: you've got it's got it's got to just be a
[48:57] Speaker 2: straight over like I think that helps some of it
[49:00] Speaker 2: but this story could have been a lot worse um
[49:05] Speaker 2: And it probably will be at some point. And that's
[49:08] Speaker 2: just the reality. And you can say that that was avoidable,
[49:15] Speaker 2: but Pete Rose was a big story. The Black Sox
[49:18] Speaker 2: were a big story. You know what I mean? Gambling
[49:22] Speaker 2: is something that's happened for forever. Prohibition doesn't work. Legalization, taxation,
[49:27] Speaker 2: regulation is going to catch most of this stuff, but
[49:30] Speaker 2: there will be more controversies that come of it. There's
[49:32] Speaker 2: no question. Yeah, I think they're going to have to
[49:34] Speaker 2: ask themselves the question that a.
[49:36] Speaker 1: Hard ban on gambling from the participants in the league,
[49:41] Speaker 1: because I think to me, the real vulnerability we've talked
[49:43] Speaker 1: about this, so I don't have to go too deep,
[49:45] Speaker 1: is the idea that Chauncey Billings could wind up in
[49:47] Speaker 1: this place is the question that you need to get
[49:50] Speaker 1: to the bottom of and figure out how many more.
[49:52] Speaker 3: I mean, Damon Jones, too.
[49:53] Speaker 2: But like how many? I mean, I guess Terry Rozier. Right.
[49:56] Speaker 3: Like they all have the hallmarks of I owe people
[49:59] Speaker 3: a lot of money.
[50:00] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[50:01] Speaker 2: Gambling is an addiction. But if you even if you said, though, Bo,
[50:05] Speaker 2: you cannot bet you cannot set foot in a casino.
[50:08] Speaker 2: You cannot bet sports, even the sports that you don't play. Man,
[50:13] Speaker 2: you don't think Chauncey Billups can find an offshore bookie
[50:18] Speaker 2: or an underground card game?
[50:19] Speaker 3: You're totally right.
[50:20] Speaker 1: Well, what you would have to do to make it
[50:21] Speaker 1: work is you'd have to make an example out of
[50:24] Speaker 1: a couple of people. and catch somebody and toss them
[50:26] Speaker 1: out the league just for going to a casino or
[50:29] Speaker 1: something made. That's what you would have to do, and
[50:30] Speaker 1: I don't think they're willing to engage in that part.
[50:35] Speaker 1: They're also lucky as of right now. Chauncey Billups is
[50:38] Speaker 1: a pretty big name, but on the player front, it
[50:39] Speaker 1: hasn't been a name that matters. You mess around and
[50:42] Speaker 1: get one of those. Now, that's when they are in trouble,
[50:48] Speaker 1: but I do think that as a media, we are
[50:49] Speaker 1: downplaying this a little bit because it's a little bad
[50:53] Speaker 1: for business to be as honest as we should.
[50:55] Speaker 2: No, listen, I think that there's definitely some truth in that.
[51:02] Speaker 2: Basketball is susceptible to this, but so is tennis.
[51:05] Speaker 1: Yes, but tennis has historically had match fixing.
[51:09] Speaker 2: Match fixing. Yeah, but I guess my point, though, is, man,
[51:15] Speaker 2: if I was a golfer, you can bet on if
[51:19] Speaker 2: I'm going to have over or under 68.5 on my
[51:20] Speaker 2: next round. and if I told my boy to bet
[51:25] Speaker 2: the over, but I felt like I can make the
[51:28] Speaker 2: cut and still shoot a 69 or a 70, but
[51:30] Speaker 2: I can make that extra money on the side. Like,
[51:32] Speaker 2: I think you can do it in any sport and
[51:36] Speaker 2: toothpaste might be out of the tube on this one.
[51:38] Speaker 2: And I, and I know that's fatalistic on some, on
[51:41] Speaker 2: some level, but like, I just think these things are
[51:44] Speaker 2: going to pop up. You're going to have to, I agree,
[51:46] Speaker 2: be very, very harsh in your punishment. I said this,
[51:51] Speaker 2: I think with Colin, Do you think, and it's, I mean,
[51:53] Speaker 2: the guy might go to prison, so it's a different,
[51:55] Speaker 2: it's not high on his list of priorities. You think
[51:57] Speaker 2: they're going to throw Chauncey Billups out of the Hall
[51:58] Speaker 2: of Fame? I don't think they should.
[52:02] Speaker 1: I guess they could, but I just, I don't, I
[52:05] Speaker 1: don't believe in, in Eraser in that way.
[52:08] Speaker 2: Neither do I. You know what I mean?
[52:09] Speaker 1: Like, I don't, I think that would be inappropriate, but
[52:12] Speaker 1: it depends on if somebody wants to grandstand, right?
[52:14] Speaker 2: Well, I mean, I'm just, you were talking about like,
[52:16] Speaker 2: they have to like really make examples of these people, right?
[52:19] Speaker 2: Like if they really want to say, like just, be
[52:22] Speaker 2: as harsh as you possibly can on all of the
[52:25] Speaker 2: punishments across the board to like really try to be
[52:28] Speaker 2: maximum deterrent. Like, I don't, I don't know. I don't
[52:33] Speaker 2: know what you're going to do because prohibition, like I said,
[52:36] Speaker 2: it doesn't work. It is an addiction. I agree with you.
[52:39] Speaker 2: Like a lot of this stuff reads as like these
[52:41] Speaker 2: guys with all that money still needed money. Yeah.
[52:45] Speaker 6: Yeah.
[52:45] Speaker 1: I need, I need it now. Need it by Friday.
[52:50] Speaker 1: Need it by Friday.
[52:54] Speaker 2: And organized crime. Still in the league. Still in the league.
[52:59] Speaker 1: Everybody's so surprised that organized crime is.
[53:00] Speaker 2: Still in the league.
[53:01] Speaker 1: And I'm like, what do you think they did?
[53:03] Speaker 2: Fold it up? Still in the league.
[53:07] Speaker 1: That concrete don't sell itself. You know what I'm saying?
[53:11] Speaker 1: There are runs of businesses that are theirs.
[53:15] Speaker 2: Yeah, the... I'll paraphrase from the Sopranos, businesses that are recession-proof. Yes.
[53:22] Speaker 2: Some aspects of Hollywood and our thing.
[53:25] Speaker 1: Man, there is a 15-year-old story about the ice cream
[53:30] Speaker 1: truck business in New York City.
[53:33] Speaker 3: And basically, there's Mr.
[53:35] Speaker 1: Softy that everybody knows and there's this other company I
[53:37] Speaker 1: can't remember the name of. But anything that involves just
[53:40] Speaker 1: staking out real estate is very susceptible to criminals because-
[53:45] Speaker 1: The willingness to bust somebody's head in it. Basically, this
[53:48] Speaker 1: company was running Mr. Softee off the block at every turn.
[53:52] Speaker 2: Mr.
[53:52] Speaker 1: Softee was hitting their people like, yo, why you why
[53:55] Speaker 1: you leave it?
[53:55] Speaker 3: And they're like, you go stand out there.
[53:57] Speaker 1: Right. And it was very clear that like, oh, a
[54:00] Speaker 1: syndicate of some sort is running the ice cream game.
[54:03] Speaker 1: All I'm saying is.
[54:04] Speaker 3: There are a lot of games that they why would
[54:08] Speaker 3: they give them up? Why would they stop?
[54:10] Speaker 2: I mean, I'm not saying that every place that is
[54:13] Speaker 2: like this has that element to it, but cash businesses,
[54:16] Speaker 2: you ever go to a restaurant and they're like, cash only? Yes.
[54:19] Speaker 2: You're like, cash only? Yes. In 2025? All right, you're
[54:24] Speaker 2: not reporting everything on the books.
[54:25] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, cash only, cash only. Cash in the bag, B,
[54:29] Speaker 3: cash in the bag.
[54:30] Speaker 1: That is Danny Park. Let's check him out on FS1,
[54:33] Speaker 1: First Things First, 5 o'clock Eastern on your cable dial.
[54:37] Speaker 3: My brother, I appreciate you.
