Bomani Jones reacts to one of the wildest NBA playoff endings in recent memory as the New York Knicks storm back against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs. After the Spurs dominated the first half and looked ready to take control of the series, everything fell apart late — from rushed shots and questionable coaching decisions to De’Aaron Fox’s brutal second-half execution. Bomani breaks down why this collapse reminded him of infamous football meltdowns like the Houston Oilers blowing a 35-3 lead and the Atlanta Falcons’ 28-3 Super Bowl disaster. He explains why San Antonio’s inability to slow the game down, manage the clock, and protect a massive lead turned a dominant performance into an all-time choke. The conversation also gets into Wemby’s missed free throws, OG Anunoby’s incredible game-winning tip-in, Jalen Brunson’s late-game shot-making, Josh Hart nearly becoming the story for the wrong reason, and why Madison Square Garden’s nervous energy makes Knicks playoff games feel different. Bomani also questions whether the Knicks’ comeback was more about their resilience or San Antonio completely losing control. Plus, Bomani discusses the NBA’s ongoing officiating discourse, why ref talk takes over every playoff conversation, how social media fuels conspiracy theories, and what to expect in Game 5 as the Spurs try to avoid letting one loss beat them twice. [0:01] Speaker 1: Wave. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the right time. A
[0:12] Speaker 1: wave original. My name is Beaumont Jones. Thanks for listening.
[0:15] Speaker 1: Where have you get your podcast? Thanks for watching us
[0:17] Speaker 1: on YouTube. Subscribe, like, rate us, review us, give us
[0:21] Speaker 1: five stars. You only give us four stars. I'm inclined
[0:24] Speaker 1: to believe you are a hater. Guys, I have no idea.
[0:28] Speaker 1: like if you were a Knicks fan or a Spurs fan,
[0:31] Speaker 1: I don't know how you went to sleep on Wednesday night.
[0:34] Speaker 1: First of all, how about I spent all week thinking
[0:37] Speaker 1: that game was going to be on Thursday. I didn't
[0:40] Speaker 1: know the game was on Wednesday until in the afternoon.
[0:43] Speaker 1: Then he sent me a text and was like, I
[0:45] Speaker 1: can't wait for the night.
[0:46] Speaker 2: And I'm like, What's happening tonight?
[0:49] Speaker 1: Is there a game? Oh, there's a game. Had no idea. That, like,
[0:54] Speaker 1: Ryan and I sat in here trying to figure out, like,
[0:57] Speaker 1: how exactly is it that you go about talking about
[1:00] Speaker 1: this game, right? Because we're not going to do this
[1:01] Speaker 1: and we don't do this in a way where you got, like,
[1:03] Speaker 1: these quick little questions that you ask. I've been watching
[1:06] Speaker 1: the ESPN stuff and, baby, they are all over the place. Like, this...
[1:10] Speaker 1: In radio, this is the easiest show in the world
[1:13] Speaker 1: to produce. You just flip the switch and you start talking, right?
[1:18] Speaker 1: That's it. Turn on the phone lines. You don't need
[1:20] Speaker 1: a plan. You don't know anything. You just go in
[1:23] Speaker 1: here and you do it. In this fashion, we try
[1:26] Speaker 1: to get to the highlights and things like, I don't
[1:29] Speaker 1: know where to go. I woke up, I talked to
[1:33] Speaker 1: Jason Goff on the phone I want to say before
[1:38] Speaker 1: 9 a.m. his time, maybe actually like well before that,
[1:43] Speaker 1: because I just needed somebody to talk to. And my
[1:46] Speaker 1: friends in the East time zone wasn't picking up the phone.
[1:49] Speaker 1: I like to surprise Ryan with a lot of the
[1:51] Speaker 1: stuff that I'm going to get out here and say,
[1:53] Speaker 1: I just need people to talk to. I finally got
[1:54] Speaker 1: a chance to talk to the homie Rod. Like I
[1:56] Speaker 1: realized I was doing all this texting with people in
[1:58] Speaker 1: the first half and the second half was so crazy
[2:00] Speaker 1: because at first we weren't texting anymore because there was
[2:02] Speaker 1: nothing to talk about. Then it got to be so chaotic.
[2:05] Speaker 1: As everything went, that nobody had the time to just
[2:07] Speaker 1: be texting with each other? Like, it was, it's, that's
[2:12] Speaker 1: the most stunning ending to a game that I can recall. Now,
[2:19] Speaker 1: the only comebacks in line with this that I can
[2:24] Speaker 1: truly remember are not in basketball. They're in football, and
[2:28] Speaker 1: they're fairly obvious examples that you hear people bring up,
[2:31] Speaker 1: but I think they actually do fit. One of them
[2:34] Speaker 1: is January 3rd, 1993. The Houston Oilers blew a 35
[2:39] Speaker 1: to three lead to the Buffalo Bills in the wildcard
[2:42] Speaker 1: round of the playoffs. The other is the Atlanta Falcons. Honestly,
[2:49] Speaker 1: as you should have expected, blowing a 28 to three lead.
[2:53] Speaker 1: To the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl. Maybe
[2:57] Speaker 1: you heard about it. OK. Ooh, that'll be a time machine. Tuesday.
[3:01] Speaker 1: Pretty soon.
[3:02] Speaker 2: Yeah. Ten years.
[3:03] Speaker 1: It'll be ten years in February 2017. Anyway. Here's what
[3:09] Speaker 1: those games had in common. The Oilers at that time,
[3:14] Speaker 1: for those of you who are too young to remember this,
[3:16] Speaker 1: were running an offense called the run and shoot. And
[3:18] Speaker 1: it's a very important detail in the story of them
[3:21] Speaker 1: blowing that lead because every down they ran with one
[3:24] Speaker 1: running back and four wide receivers, 10 personnel is what
[3:28] Speaker 1: they call it. And you get out to a 35-3 lead,
[3:32] Speaker 1: and even if you call your offense a ball control
[3:35] Speaker 1: offense because it's predicated on short passing, if the short
[3:39] Speaker 1: passing doesn't work, then the clock stops. And somehow in
[3:43] Speaker 1: a game where Buffalo trailed the Oilers 35-3 at some point,
[3:48] Speaker 1: Buffalo had more carries, more rushing attempts than the Oilers did.
[3:52] Speaker 1: Lorenzo White, their Pro Bowl running back who ran for
[3:54] Speaker 1: 1,200 yards that year, only had, I want to say,
[3:58] Speaker 1: it was either 17 or 19 carries. I can't remember which,
[4:00] Speaker 1: but that's where it was. They didn't run the ball.
[4:05] Speaker 1: And so you make it easy for them when the
[4:07] Speaker 1: clock stops. What did Kyle Shanahan and his big brain
[4:11] Speaker 1: go out there and do in that Super Bowl? Kept
[4:14] Speaker 1: throwing the ball. Your defense got gassed. You wound up
[4:19] Speaker 1: losing the game. That is what the Spurs did in
[4:21] Speaker 1: the second half. They just went out there. I've seen
[4:24] Speaker 1: the exact numbers. I can't remember now. But after they
[4:27] Speaker 1: were making all those shots in the first half, getting
[4:31] Speaker 1: all those buckets, they kept shooting early in the shot
[4:35] Speaker 1: clock threes in the second half. That just didn't make
[4:40] Speaker 1: any sense. Analogous to the football teams and their defenses
[4:44] Speaker 1: getting gassed inexplicably. Mitch Johnson had Victor playing almost all
[4:49] Speaker 1: of that second half. Like this was a 20 something
[4:51] Speaker 1: point game in the fourth quarter. You still have this
[4:55] Speaker 1: guy that we know because of the unique demands that
[4:58] Speaker 1: you put on him relative to his physique and everything else.
[5:02] Speaker 1: His levels of exhaustion, we've known about. This is a thing.
[5:07] Speaker 1: And he had him out there. He played 44 minutes
[5:10] Speaker 1: in a game where you had a giant lead for
[5:13] Speaker 1: the majority of it. It didn't make any sense. And
[5:16] Speaker 1: by the way, I thought they had him out there
[5:17] Speaker 1: for too many minutes in the first half where they
[5:20] Speaker 1: got Carl Anthony Towns out of there literally in 65
[5:24] Speaker 1: seconds with two fouls. Like... It was malpractice on so
[5:31] Speaker 1: many levels. Coaching malpractice is number one where we go
[5:35] Speaker 1: on this, right? But there's another level of malpractice that
[5:39] Speaker 1: took place in this game and it really comes down
[5:45] Speaker 1: to what kind of league the NBA wants to be
[5:49] Speaker 1: and what it is that they want to do. And
[5:53] Speaker 1: I know you're wondering what it is that I'm talking about.
[5:55] Speaker 1: And You remember a couple days ago, it was this
[6:02] Speaker 1: football player named Brendan Swordsby. He's supposed to be the
[6:06] Speaker 1: quarterback at Texas Tech. And, you know, he had done
[6:09] Speaker 1: some gambling, and he's going to be able to play.
[6:14] Speaker 1: The NCAA tried to ban him forever, and then the
[6:17] Speaker 1: court said no, and he's going to be able to play.
[6:19] Speaker 1: And then what we saw after that was a lot
[6:21] Speaker 1: of people come down on Texas Tech and say that
[6:25] Speaker 1: Texas Tech is the ones who's wrong. They shouldn't even
[6:28] Speaker 1: allow him to play at all, you know, given the circumstances.
[6:32] Speaker 1: And you had a whole lot of teams that's out
[6:34] Speaker 1: here saying, you know, well, we're not going to play
[6:36] Speaker 1: against Texas tech. If they go and continue to let
[6:38] Speaker 1: swords be play, we're not going to play against Texas tech. And,
[6:43] Speaker 1: you know, that's how, that's how, that's how they show us.
[6:47] Speaker 1: They serious, right? That's how they show us that they
[6:51] Speaker 1: serious about gambling. And at every turn, um, the NBA
[6:56] Speaker 1: has at least tried to tell us that they serious
[6:58] Speaker 1: about gambling. They had the hiccups, they had Terry Rozier,
[7:01] Speaker 1: they had Jonte Porter, whatever's going on with Chauncey Billups,
[7:04] Speaker 1: Damon Jones. You know what I mean? They got those things. Now,
[7:08] Speaker 1: if the NBA and all the teams really want to
[7:11] Speaker 1: show us how serious they are, there's only one solution.
[7:17] Speaker 1: As long as De'Aaron Fox plays for the Spurs, everybody
[7:20] Speaker 1: else got to say, no, we're not going to play
[7:22] Speaker 1: against them. You're not going to do that. He out
[7:25] Speaker 1: here threatening the integrity.
[7:26] Speaker 2: Of the gang. Crossed a line that can't be crossed.
[7:29] Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, what other explanation you got for that shit? Right? Like,
[7:34] Speaker 1: I made a joke with somebody, a beat writer, and
[7:36] Speaker 1: I was like, shit, man, I thought De'Aaron Fox was
[7:38] Speaker 1: from Houston. When he was out there playing, it turned
[7:40] Speaker 1: out he was a lifelong Knicks fan. I ain't never
[7:43] Speaker 1: seen nobody fucking up like that. Like, and by like that,
[7:46] Speaker 1: you're like, what do you mean like that? Whatever like
[7:48] Speaker 1: that you could possibly imagine. He found a way to
[7:52] Speaker 1: dabble in it. Let me go find that one stat
[7:55] Speaker 1: that I just sent somebody about how bad he was
[7:58] Speaker 1: messing up. This is from Caitlin Cooper. Fox had 44
[8:02] Speaker 1: touches in the second half, the most of any spur.
[8:05] Speaker 1: Only five touched the paint. San Antonio scored. 387 points
[8:10] Speaker 1: per chance out of his touches. Just so you know,
[8:13] Speaker 1: that's really bad. He shot two of six with two
[8:15] Speaker 1: turnovers when defended by O.G., Guys, that's really, really, really bad.
[8:22] Speaker 1: Just on its face. That's before we get to this. Look,
[8:27] Speaker 1: Victor missed those free throws late. You can blame it
[8:29] Speaker 1: on fatigue or whatever it is. But no, you got
[8:31] Speaker 1: to lock in and make, you got to make those
[8:33] Speaker 1: free throws. Or at the very least, you got to
[8:34] Speaker 1: make one of them. Putting up an 0 for 2?
[8:38] Speaker 1: That wasn't, that was not allowed in that moment. Okay?
[8:45] Speaker 1: But he made a huge play. with that block that
[8:50] Speaker 1: got the ball back across half court where De'Aaron Fox
[8:54] Speaker 1: had it with like 14 seconds left and the Spurs
[8:58] Speaker 1: have a one point lead. And what I just talked
[9:01] Speaker 1: about before.
[9:02] Speaker 2: One of these paint touches that one of these very
[9:04] Speaker 2: few paint touches.
[9:04] Speaker 1: That's a great point. That was, that was the paint touch.
[9:07] Speaker 1: But what I say before about these cats, not respecting
[9:10] Speaker 1: the clock, Like now was the time to dribble it out,
[9:15] Speaker 1: run some clock, make them foul you, whatever it is.
[9:19] Speaker 2: Nope.
[9:19] Speaker 1: He went for that layup. And OG Adenobe came and pitched.
[9:25] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[9:26] Speaker 1: Blocked. Okay. Now we're coming back the other way. And
[9:29] Speaker 1: by the way, at this point, I'm at my house like,
[9:31] Speaker 1: what is happening? What an amazing game. So now it
[9:34] Speaker 1: comes back the other way. Fox did something that seems smart, right?
[9:39] Speaker 1: Which was they had a foul to give. Filing Alvarado.
[9:44] Speaker 1: Put a pin on that name, by the way. Filing Alvarado.
[9:48] Speaker 1: But Alvarado was in the process of dribbling back across
[9:50] Speaker 1: half court. Darren Fox couldn't do, he did wrong when
[9:55] Speaker 1: he did right. Okay. So now the ball comes in.
[10:00] Speaker 1: They come on the side out of bounds. They get
[10:01] Speaker 1: a ball to Brunson. Victor's guarding Brunson. Fox is kind
[10:06] Speaker 1: of shading over there for whatever reason. Victor's guarding Brunson.
[10:11] Speaker 1: Brunson shoots a 30 footer. Cause that's what happens when
[10:14] Speaker 1: the guy guarding you is eight feet tall. The one
[10:17] Speaker 1: thing we knew about that was Jalen Brunson was never
[10:19] Speaker 1: going to pass that ball to anybody.
[10:21] Speaker 2: Never. And not, not considering going at Victor.
[10:23] Speaker 1: Right. So like the thing with Fox was Fox either
[10:25] Speaker 1: needed to come all the way or like they needed to,
[10:28] Speaker 1: I saw Jason Williams on television this morning talking about
[10:30] Speaker 1: how they didn't do the blitz. Right.
[10:31] Speaker 2: Whatever.
[10:32] Speaker 1: I don't, I'm not the guy to ask about that,
[10:34] Speaker 1: but I know this, they either both need to be
[10:35] Speaker 1: committed to Brunson or Victor needed to have him. And
[10:38] Speaker 1: then Fox was going to be on OG. But no,
[10:41] Speaker 1: it didn't work that way. Brunson shoots that shot. Fox
[10:46] Speaker 1: doesn't box out OG. And then OG gets there. Now,
[10:50] Speaker 1: if you look at all those videos and all those
[10:52] Speaker 1: pictures of OG going up for that incredible tip in
[10:55] Speaker 1: that they're calling the hand to God, but that name's
[10:57] Speaker 1: already taken. We have a podcast about it next week.
[11:01] Speaker 1: You look at it and it gets back to one
[11:03] Speaker 1: of those San Antonio weaknesses. OG's going up. Carl is there.
[11:08] Speaker 1: Victor's on the perimeter. So who's down there? A bunch
[11:11] Speaker 1: of dudes not big enough for the fight that was there.
[11:13] Speaker 1: But even with that being the case, they'd have been
[11:16] Speaker 1: fine if Fox had just put a little body on
[11:19] Speaker 1: the OG.
[11:20] Speaker 2: Just classic losing the inbounder.
[11:22] Speaker 1: Sometimes you got to toot that thing up. But it
[11:25] Speaker 1: wasn't about losing the inbounder because it was supposed to
[11:28] Speaker 1: be his man. Yeah. Right? You needed to do something
[11:32] Speaker 1: in that moment. He consistently blew it. in the second half.
[11:38] Speaker 1: He and Mitch Johnson, where they had that one out
[11:41] Speaker 1: of bounds play. I think Castle wound up scoring on
[11:43] Speaker 1: it late. And I was like, what did y'all talk
[11:46] Speaker 1: about in the huddle though? This wasn't no play. There
[11:50] Speaker 1: was no scheme. He is not the, let me cook
[11:53] Speaker 1: something up right fast, and we're going to go out there.
[11:56] Speaker 1: He doesn't have that, but there's no way that lead
[11:58] Speaker 1: should have been blown the way it was without the
[12:01] Speaker 1: coach at least getting in and being like, fellas, slow
[12:05] Speaker 1: it down. We don't need these shots as of right now. This,
[12:11] Speaker 1: after one of the most top-to-bottom dominant first halves ever,
[12:16] Speaker 1: I have ever seen in my life. They wrecked the Knicks.
[12:20] Speaker 1: I thought the Knicks were completely finished. The Knicks came
[12:23] Speaker 1: out there, energy-wise, dead. Victor was punking them. He made
[12:28] Speaker 1: Mitchell Robinson completely lose his shit. He's sitting on the ground.
[12:32] Speaker 1: I'm in your head, boy. And he was. They played
[12:37] Speaker 1: such an awful game in the first half. Part of it,
[12:40] Speaker 1: of course, the San Antonio wouldn't miss, right? Like some
[12:43] Speaker 1: of that was outside the control of the Knicks. But
[12:46] Speaker 1: the truth was, as has been the case in all
[12:49] Speaker 1: these games, San Antonio came out early. But then they
[12:52] Speaker 1: just they were relentless about it. Made Mitchell Robinson elbow
[12:57] Speaker 1: Victor in the jaw just because he was mad. That
[13:01] Speaker 1: was it. There was like there was no reason to
[13:05] Speaker 1: believe that the Knicks had to resolve. I guess maybe
[13:08] Speaker 1: the Cleveland game, the game won against Cleveland. But this
[13:11] Speaker 1: ain't Cleveland Cavaliers. Like my man, Rob made a great point.
[13:14] Speaker 1: They went from walking over everybody over there, beating about
[13:17] Speaker 1: 30 points, 20 points over there. And these, they came
[13:19] Speaker 1: over here and these games, even the first game, which
[13:20] Speaker 1: was double digit, but these games are different than those.
[13:23] Speaker 1: Like it was obvious that they stepped up to a
[13:24] Speaker 1: different level of competition. And it looked like they were
[13:27] Speaker 1: demoralized by the fact that they heard too much of
[13:29] Speaker 1: that Nixon four in the street. And they got demoralized
[13:31] Speaker 1: by the fact they couldn't. And I'll throw something else
[13:33] Speaker 1: out there. I was talking to an agent about this.
[13:35] Speaker 1: He made a very interesting point, which is that as
[13:38] Speaker 1: an arena, Madison square garden is a place that carries
[13:40] Speaker 1: negative energy. like nervous energy specifically. And you can believe that.
[13:44] Speaker 1: 20,000 Knicks fans?
[13:47] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[13:47] Speaker 1: After they had lost game three?
[13:49] Speaker 2: Yeah, and they haven't won in there in 50 years.
[13:52] Speaker 1: Yeah, there was a tension. And you can feel that
[13:55] Speaker 1: through the television.
[13:57] Speaker 2: They're expecting things to go wrong.
[13:59] Speaker 1: And then it kept going. And then it kept going.
[14:01] Speaker 1: And they made, I just can't believe it. I have
[14:07] Speaker 1: sat up, it's been now that we're recording this, The
[14:10] Speaker 1: game's been over. It hasn't even been 12 hours. And
[14:13] Speaker 1: I was just like, I don't know what it is.
[14:15] Speaker 1: I don't know how you're supposed to put in words
[14:19] Speaker 1: what happened. You obviously have to blame San Antonio. This
[14:23] Speaker 1: was a collapse. But the type of collapse to me
[14:27] Speaker 1: was interesting. It did not feel like the moment was
[14:30] Speaker 1: too big for them. It did not feel like they
[14:34] Speaker 1: got nervous. It just felt like they're idiots. Like, they
[14:38] Speaker 1: just started playing idiot ball. Like, am I supposed to
[14:42] Speaker 1: believe that the pressure of a 30-point lead was too much? No,
[14:45] Speaker 1: I think they started, like, fucking around. I think the
[14:47] Speaker 1: thing that happened to the Knicks, one of the things
[14:49] Speaker 1: that happened to the Knicks in the first half, I
[14:50] Speaker 1: think happened to San Antonio in the second half, like,
[14:53] Speaker 1: or these two things are similar, right? They went down
[14:55] Speaker 1: a similar path. In the first half, the Knicks were
[14:59] Speaker 1: clearly caught up in their plan to just knock Victor around.
[15:04] Speaker 1: For sure. They had decided they was going to get
[15:06] Speaker 1: their leg back And they was going to elbow him
[15:08] Speaker 1: and they were going to bump him and grab him
[15:10] Speaker 1: at every turn. That's what they were going to do.
[15:12] Speaker 1: Carl got those two fouls early. And let me stop
[15:15] Speaker 1: and say something very quickly about that. I hate this
[15:19] Speaker 1: part of the replay rules. I completely hate this idea
[15:24] Speaker 1: that they challenged the call on whether or not Victor
[15:28] Speaker 1: committed a foul on the block. And he clearly did
[15:32] Speaker 1: not foul him on that block. I don't feel like
[15:36] Speaker 1: they should be able to go back and then go
[15:38] Speaker 1: be like, well, actually, we looked about three seconds before
[15:40] Speaker 1: that play and Carl hooked him.
[15:42] Speaker 2: Yeah, it makes no sense. That's not how sports are
[15:44] Speaker 2: supposed to work.
[15:44] Speaker 1: I don't feel like you should be able to do that.
[15:46] Speaker 1: I don't feel like the replay should be a carte
[15:48] Speaker 1: blanche to go back and look at everything. I think
[15:51] Speaker 1: that you should have to be very clear. Another thing
[15:54] Speaker 1: I don't think you should be allowed to do, I
[15:56] Speaker 1: don't think they should be allowed to have them goddamn iPads.
[15:59] Speaker 1: Either challenge it or you don't. If the call wasn't
[16:01] Speaker 1: so bad that you were so sure of it at
[16:03] Speaker 1: that time that you're going to do something about it,
[16:04] Speaker 1: then we don't need to go to no goddamn replay.
[16:06] Speaker 1: You understand what I'm saying?
[16:07] Speaker 2: It's like your definition of flagrant from yesterday.
[16:09] Speaker 1: Exactly. That's why these games be taking so long. It's
[16:11] Speaker 1: because they can get back and then be like, well,
[16:13] Speaker 1: hold on, go back a little bit earlier and see
[16:15] Speaker 1: if such and such happened. No, no, no. That ain't
[16:17] Speaker 1: what we, that's not what the trial about. That's not
[16:21] Speaker 1: what we doing right now, man. Fuck out of here.
[16:23] Speaker 1: But anyway, they kept trying to assault the Spurs, basically,
[16:29] Speaker 1: and the Spurs were thriving on it. Like, it's interesting.
[16:33] Speaker 1: Once the Knicks gave up on doing that and went
[16:35] Speaker 1: back to actually playing basketball, what do you know? They
[16:40] Speaker 1: did okay. I also felt like that first half was
[16:43] Speaker 1: a lot of, did it feel like a lot of
[16:44] Speaker 1: Brunson ball?
[16:45] Speaker 2: Yes.
[16:46] Speaker 1: Did the second half feel like it? Because I didn't
[16:48] Speaker 1: think the second half felt like it until late when
[16:50] Speaker 1: you kind of wanted to be Brunson ball. Like, at
[16:53] Speaker 1: some point, they're going to get that through to him
[16:56] Speaker 1: that you are the king of the city. You are
[17:02] Speaker 1: our number two guy on the court. And Knicks fans
[17:07] Speaker 1: don't like hearing that. One of my buddies, you know,
[17:11] Speaker 1: who is not a short man, but not a tall man.
[17:15] Speaker 1: Take that, Becky Hammond. You know, like, that's what Jalen
[17:23] Speaker 1: Brunson out here doing all the time with his daddy
[17:26] Speaker 1: over there making a fool of himself some of the time.
[17:28] Speaker 1: You know, any of that. Didn't make the shot to
[17:31] Speaker 1: get it done. OG did. And shout out to you,
[17:34] Speaker 1: Josh Hart. Buddy, buddy, buddy, buddy, buddy. Josh Hart. He
[17:39] Speaker 1: missed that layup. Couldn't figure out if he wanted to dunk,
[17:41] Speaker 1: if he wanted to lay it up. That was a choke.
[17:45] Speaker 1: There was no way around it. And he got spared.
[17:50] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[17:50] Speaker 1: He got 100% spared because it was, I mean, it
[17:53] Speaker 1: wasn't going to be like the end for him because
[17:55] Speaker 1: they would have gone down 2-2, but it had been
[17:57] Speaker 1: a lot of people.
[17:59] Speaker 2: Almost killed Larry David.
[18:00] Speaker 1: He did almost kill Larry David. He did almost kill
[18:03] Speaker 1: Larry David. That was wild, man. I can't imagine what
[18:09] Speaker 1: it was like to be there. All my friends who
[18:10] Speaker 1: got to go. Foxworth got to go. Kravitz was there.
[18:15] Speaker 1: Some of my rich friends. Shit, man. David Dennis got
[18:20] Speaker 1: a credential to get in there. Good for you.
[18:22] Speaker 2: I'm hating.
[18:26] Speaker 1: I'm being perfectly honest about this. One friend of the program,
[18:30] Speaker 1: I won't say his name because I don't know if
[18:32] Speaker 1: he wanted me to say this part, but just to
[18:33] Speaker 1: let you know, imagine what his night was like. I
[18:36] Speaker 1: was like, yo, how did you get to sleep? Because
[18:38] Speaker 1: I had trouble. Oh, I got to sleep because I
[18:40] Speaker 1: be doing that. But anyway, I was like, so how
[18:42] Speaker 1: did you get to sleep? He said, I couldn't go
[18:44] Speaker 1: to sleep until two o'clock in the morning. And this
[18:47] Speaker 1: morning I got a colonoscopy. Hey, that's a man that
[18:53] Speaker 1: had a lot going on.
[18:55] Speaker 2: Had a rough 24 hours.
[18:56] Speaker 1: Yeah, over 12 hours. He had a lot. No, no,
[18:58] Speaker 1: it was the colonoscopies after the game.
[19:00] Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, but I mean prep.
[19:02] Speaker 1: Yeah, oh, that's right. Apparently the prep's not as bad
[19:04] Speaker 1: as it used to be. But yes.
[19:08] Speaker 2: It's not exactly a walk in the park either, I imagine.
[19:12] Speaker 1: I did the thing when my colonoscopy time came where
[19:16] Speaker 1: they basically, what you do is they send you a
[19:20] Speaker 1: kit And you put a stool sample in the kit,
[19:24] Speaker 1: and then you mail the kit off, and then they
[19:26] Speaker 1: let you know if you need the colonoscopy. And I
[19:30] Speaker 1: did that, and I went to go take it to
[19:32] Speaker 1: the UPS store. And I was assuming that the UPS
[19:35] Speaker 1: store opened at 8, because you would think that it
[19:37] Speaker 1: would open early, because people send packages and stuff like that.
[19:40] Speaker 1: But the UPS store actually didn't open until 9, and
[19:43] Speaker 1: I got out there at like 8.45. And let me
[19:45] Speaker 1: tell you what feels weird, just standing outside on the corner,
[19:49] Speaker 1: holding a box of dookie like nobody else knows that
[19:52] Speaker 1: you got a box of dookie but I'm just but
[19:54] Speaker 1: you do yeah I'm just there standing there holding a
[19:57] Speaker 1: box of dookie like somebody please get this dookie out
[19:59] Speaker 1: of my hands and like I kind of wanted to
[20:01] Speaker 1: warn the dude when I handed it over to him
[20:02] Speaker 1: be careful there's dookie in that box but I didn't
[20:06] Speaker 1: want to I didn't think bring an attention to the
[20:08] Speaker 1: dookie was necessarily.
[20:10] Speaker 2: It's not the first time he's been in that situation.
[20:14] Speaker 1: That's right, but I don't know if he knows that's
[20:15] Speaker 1: what's going on. Fair. That's all I'm saying. Anyway, back
[20:22] Speaker 1: to the basketball. Did you see Rich Paul got that podcast?
[20:26] Speaker 2: I'm aware.
[20:27] Speaker 1: Habershow sent me this video of it. I watched some,
[20:30] Speaker 1: and it was real tricky for Rich because the two
[20:36] Speaker 1: guys responsible for this loss primarily De'Aaron Fox. Have you seen...
[20:41] Speaker 1: You've seen the super cuts?
[20:42] Speaker 2: Yes.
[20:43] Speaker 1: The De'Aaron Fox blooper reels of all his terrible... People
[20:46] Speaker 1: cut them things up fast, by the way.
[20:48] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[20:48] Speaker 1: Like, for people to not get paid for that shit,
[20:50] Speaker 1: they was really... They're working. But I guess those people
[20:52] Speaker 1: who are doing that, they are getting paid, like, Sally
[20:55] Speaker 1: Struthers prices. You know? Like, 30 cents a day. You know? Like,
[21:00] Speaker 1: they over there, whatever country they in, cutting up them videos. So, like,
[21:03] Speaker 1: getting paid, in a matter of speaking, I suppose they are.
[21:07] Speaker 1: They're not... Somebody getting paid. I don't know if it's
[21:10] Speaker 1: the people that's out there cutting up them videos. You
[21:13] Speaker 1: know what I'm saying? But anyway, Rich Paul's on his
[21:18] Speaker 1: podcast and they record it fast because they're on the
[21:20] Speaker 1: West Coast. So I guess that means you got the luxury.
[21:22] Speaker 1: You can cut that after the game and not everybody
[21:24] Speaker 1: already be sleepy. But the two culprits are Mitch Johnson
[21:27] Speaker 1: and De'Aaron Fox. Both of them. Both of them his guys.
[21:33] Speaker 1: And he's like, I think that Rich... I think that
[21:39] Speaker 1: guys who decide to do this very, this being the
[21:43] Speaker 1: job that I do, I think very often they are
[21:45] Speaker 1: more serious about the job than people will give them
[21:47] Speaker 1: credit for. You know what I mean? Like, I think
[21:50] Speaker 1: that they are, they, like, for example, Charles Barkley really
[21:54] Speaker 1: cares about the integrity of the things he says on television, right? Like,
[21:58] Speaker 1: that was his thing when you talked to him about
[22:00] Speaker 1: when he fell out with Mike. And he was like, hey, man,
[22:02] Speaker 1: I don't think he's done a good job. And I
[22:05] Speaker 1: have to tell the truth about whether or not he's
[22:07] Speaker 1: done a good job. Like, I think a lot of, like,
[22:08] Speaker 1: I think Draymond goes too hard on the people he
[22:11] Speaker 1: doesn't like, right? But I think Draymond cares about his,
[22:14] Speaker 1: I think there are a lot of those guys, Kendrick Perkins,
[22:16] Speaker 1: I think, they care about their credibility. And I think
[22:19] Speaker 1: that Rich Paul cares about his credibility. And that's why
[22:22] Speaker 1: he can't do this podcast. Because sometimes you get up
[22:26] Speaker 1: and your guys are the ones that shit to bed.
[22:29] Speaker 1: And you can't do this the way that you want
[22:30] Speaker 1: to do it under those circumstances. Because it's those guys.
[22:36] Speaker 1: I don't see any other way to look at this. Like,
[22:40] Speaker 1: I feel bad because they're like, well, what about the
[22:42] Speaker 1: good things the Knicks did? I don't remember that many
[22:46] Speaker 1: of them.
[22:47] Speaker 2: There is a tip they got, you know.
[22:48] Speaker 1: There's a tip. There's a tip. And by the way,
[22:51] Speaker 1: not that they didn't do anything. But like, I didn't
[22:54] Speaker 1: feel like, boy, the Knicks, like I heard Mike Breen
[22:56] Speaker 1: start saying, oh, the Knicks started playing fantastic defense. I
[22:58] Speaker 1: did not feel like the Knicks started playing fantastic defense.
[23:01] Speaker 1: I didn't think they played bad defense, but I didn't
[23:04] Speaker 1: feel like all of a sudden now they put the
[23:05] Speaker 1: clamps on, right? Or this was like when a great
[23:07] Speaker 1: team decides we're going to come back, and now they
[23:09] Speaker 1: start taking the ball at every turn. The Spurs had
[23:13] Speaker 1: a stretch where they missed eight straight threes.
[23:15] Speaker 2: Went for Mazur.
[23:17] Speaker 1: Yeah, like I don't think that had that much to
[23:20] Speaker 1: do with the Knicks at that point. I think this was,
[23:22] Speaker 1: I mean, truly one of the more epic collapses that
[23:26] Speaker 1: we've ever seen. And I don't want to take anything
[23:28] Speaker 1: away from the Knicks because obviously they were able to
[23:30] Speaker 1: make shots. Carl got in the game. And by the way,
[23:33] Speaker 1: another game with an incredible plus minus number from Carl.
[23:36] Speaker 1: OG Ananobi again. right? Played a fantastic game and obviously
[23:42] Speaker 1: not just the tip, but just his presence and he's
[23:45] Speaker 1: hitting the shots that are there for him to hit
[23:48] Speaker 1: like that. They got him for R.J. Barrett.
[23:51] Speaker 2: Yes.
[23:52] Speaker 1: What a heist.
[23:53] Speaker 2: R.J. Barrett, Emmanuel quickly in like a terrible first round pick.
[23:58] Speaker 1: Yes, but also a reminder of how hard it is
[24:00] Speaker 1: to win in the NBA. The Spurs need an OG
[24:03] Speaker 1: or an Aaron Gordon or like, you know, somebody of
[24:06] Speaker 1: a similar ilk. They're not the exact same player, but
[24:09] Speaker 1: I think you guys see what I'm saying. But one
[24:11] Speaker 1: of those costs $ 30 million a year. You know what
[24:16] Speaker 1: I mean? That's what it takes to get one of
[24:18] Speaker 1: those guys. But I said put a pin in Alvarado.
[24:23] Speaker 1: It is a damning indictment of Mikael Bridges. that they
[24:26] Speaker 1: played Jose Alvarado for all those minutes down the stretch. Like,
[24:30] Speaker 1: part of it was needing a ball handler, but I
[24:32] Speaker 1: can only take that as Mike Brown believing that Mikael
[24:34] Speaker 1: Bridges is not up for the moment. And he's the
[24:37] Speaker 1: guy they've got that's been there. Like, OG didn't play
[24:40] Speaker 1: in the playoffs that year for the Raptors. He had
[24:42] Speaker 1: the appendicitis situation. Mikael Bridges, like, Ryan, did you ever
[24:47] Speaker 1: imagine there'd be a world where Jose Alvarado, like, was
[24:50] Speaker 1: taking shots and getting big minutes? Because the one thing
[24:53] Speaker 1: about Alvarado is Alvarado ain't going to scare.
[24:55] Speaker 2: Right.
[24:56] Speaker 1: But they had those two little bitty guards out there.
[25:00] Speaker 1: And Mikael Bridges.
[25:01] Speaker 2: When they needed big stops.
[25:02] Speaker 1: When they needed them. And Alvarado not afraid to go
[25:05] Speaker 1: to the back. Because Alvarado got more practice playing against
[25:08] Speaker 1: somebody like Victor than the rest of the guys. Because
[25:10] Speaker 1: everybody liked Victor compared to Alvarado.
[25:13] Speaker 2: That's been his whole life.
[25:14] Speaker 1: Shit, man. I might as well be Victor next to Alvarado. Right?
[25:20] Speaker 1: So he knows how to get all those angles and
[25:22] Speaker 1: get it right there and all that stuff. They doing
[25:24] Speaker 1: the whole thing. Like, I think you have to give,
[25:27] Speaker 1: I have to give the Knicks credit for this. It's
[25:28] Speaker 1: not about the plays they made. It's about the fact
[25:31] Speaker 1: that they look like they were checked out and somehow just,
[25:35] Speaker 1: I want to say kept chopping wood, but they wasn't
[25:37] Speaker 1: chopping no wood in the first half. Like nobody can
[25:40] Speaker 1: understand how in the world this happened. It's the most
[25:43] Speaker 1: inexplicable anything that I could think of. Guess what? We
[25:50] Speaker 1: got another game on Friday. Or no, Saturday. Not going
[25:55] Speaker 1: to make that mistake again. Coming up next, we're going

[30:54] Speaker 1: com slash Bomani. All right, so we got game five
[31:04] Speaker 1: coming up on Saturday. Ryan, the wildest thing, man, I
[31:06] Speaker 1: do not think this series is over. I still think
[31:07] Speaker 1: San Antonio can win this. San Antonio has had an
[31:10] Speaker 1: opportunity to win every game this series.
[31:14] Speaker 2: They were favored to win the whole thing at half.
[31:17] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[31:17] Speaker 2: I mean, and like, if you're a San Antonio fan,
[31:21] Speaker 2: you feel like this series should be 2-2 at the
[31:24] Speaker 2: absolute worst. Like, I mean, you've had two chances with
[31:28] Speaker 2: the ball with 10 seconds, and you had the the
[31:34] Speaker 2: incredibly insane unlucky turnover in game two. And then you had,
[31:39] Speaker 2: you know, you're missing a shot up one to, you know,
[31:44] Speaker 2: they're not drilling the clock out. So it just too incredible.
[31:49] Speaker 2: You said the series is not over.
[31:51] Speaker 1: So I know that I know that people find The
[32:02] Speaker 1: more woo-woo things that Victor does, or some people do,
[32:06] Speaker 1: they find that to be a bit performative.
[32:08] Speaker 2: The villain turn has happened. It is happening.
[32:12] Speaker 1: Here's the only thing I'm saying about the woo-woo stuff, though.
[32:15] Speaker 1: As somebody who knows people who do those things and
[32:19] Speaker 1: is a touch inclined toward those things myself, I don't
[32:23] Speaker 1: really think it's as performative. as other people think it is, right? Like,
[32:27] Speaker 1: I think one thing that got people is he told
[32:28] Speaker 1: Ramona Shelburne that he was walking through the arena barefoot
[32:31] Speaker 1: because it was his first time there. Hey, man, I
[32:33] Speaker 1: know the people that really care, like that being grounded,
[32:36] Speaker 1: you know, that sort of stuff. I don't find that
[32:40] Speaker 1: stuff to be performative. I think that he's really into
[32:43] Speaker 1: those things. And he went, you know, the stuff with
[32:45] Speaker 1: the monks we always talk about. I've been doing a
[32:49] Speaker 1: little reading on Buddhism lately. And the thing that I
[32:53] Speaker 1: will say that the Buddhists are big about is, and
[32:56] Speaker 1: I'm going to put it in sporting terms, is don't
[32:59] Speaker 1: lose the same game twice. Right? Like, it is one
[33:03] Speaker 1: thing to suffer. It is one thing to feel bad.
[33:05] Speaker 1: It is one thing, whatever it is. But if you
[33:08] Speaker 1: suffer because you suffered, that's when things, that's the snowball.
[33:14] Speaker 1: You understand what I'm saying? So, like, you can't lose,
[33:18] Speaker 1: let that game beat you again. And that's what Victor
[33:20] Speaker 1: seems to have a hold of.
[33:22] Speaker 2: Right.
[33:22] Speaker 1: Like I did not see from him postgame somebody that
[33:26] Speaker 1: felt beaten by this, felt defeated or whatever it is.
[33:29] Speaker 1: But the truth is, when it was time to rally
[33:31] Speaker 1: the troops in the second half, you look like a
[33:33] Speaker 1: front runner because you weren't able to like you did
[33:36] Speaker 1: not do the thing that needed to be done. I
[33:38] Speaker 1: don't think he understood. And maybe from now on, they'll
[33:40] Speaker 1: never have this problem again. Like that Tom Brady type shit.
[33:43] Speaker 1: Like you look we up by three touchdowns and now
[33:45] Speaker 1: we go down to two touchdowns. Hey, what happened to three? Like,
[33:49] Speaker 1: I'm going to scream at you the same way.
[33:50] Speaker 2: It's Nick Saban screaming at his offensive lineman up 28 points.
[33:54] Speaker 1: Sometimes you got to do it, man. Like, that's what
[33:56] Speaker 1: the stakes were, especially in a game with three-point shots.
[34:00] Speaker 1: That's what you have to do. I want to see
[34:03] Speaker 1: what the Knicks come back with. Like, this is their chance.
[34:08] Speaker 1: If I'm the Knicks, I don't want to bring this
[34:10] Speaker 1: back to Madison Square Garden because that nervousness thing that
[34:12] Speaker 1: I was talking about before, that's really going to be
[34:15] Speaker 1: there if you come back for game six. It's really,
[34:19] Speaker 1: that's not, that is not going to, one, that's not
[34:22] Speaker 1: going to be a comforting environment. And two, the Spurs
[34:25] Speaker 1: have shown us that they are not, they were not
[34:27] Speaker 1: intimidated by the loudest and most raucous that arena was
[34:30] Speaker 1: ever going to be. And honestly, I don't feel like
[34:32] Speaker 1: they were intimidated by it in the second half. So
[34:34] Speaker 1: if I had to guess, have this game on Saturday,
[34:38] Speaker 1: I think this will go to a game six. I
[34:41] Speaker 1: just don't think San Antonio is out of it. And
[34:42] Speaker 1: to be fair to San Antonio, I think we've put
[34:44] Speaker 1: them out of this a couple times already. We had
[34:46] Speaker 1: them out of it. In that Oklahoma City series, I
[34:50] Speaker 1: think we had them out of it down 2-0 in
[34:53] Speaker 1: this series. My buddy Vinny, he is the seer of
[34:58] Speaker 1: all things. He's the one to hit you and be like, yeah,
[35:00] Speaker 1: during the comeback against Cleveland for the Knicks, yep, they're
[35:04] Speaker 1: going to win this one. He did it last night
[35:06] Speaker 1: during that game. Or was it during that game? Nope,
[35:09] Speaker 1: this is what it's going to be. He is that guy.
[35:11] Speaker 1: He sees it. I don't think that he sees the
[35:13] Speaker 1: Spurs pulling this off. But I'm not sure, I'm not,
[35:17] Speaker 1: you know, he's better at this than me for a
[35:20] Speaker 1: number of reasons, right? He's been watching so many of
[35:22] Speaker 1: these games, he knows how I play. But I think
[35:25] Speaker 1: San Antonio is still in this. I don't think that
[35:29] Speaker 1: this one is going to be a wrap. I feel
[35:33] Speaker 1: like we deserve for this to keep going. I don't
[35:36] Speaker 1: want this to end. This is, even if this is
[35:38] Speaker 1: a five-game series, it has been a great series, if
[35:41] Speaker 1: it is that. Like, Hagler-Hearns was only four rounds, right?
[35:44] Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Like, I feel like it's been...
[35:46] Speaker 1: I feel like it's been that sort of game. And
[35:50] Speaker 1: I feel like the Spurs... And you tell me if
[35:53] Speaker 1: you see where I'm coming from on this one, Ryan.
[35:57] Speaker 1: I feel like everything the Spurs did in Game 3
[36:03] Speaker 1: can be replicated for this game.
[36:06] Speaker 2: Absolutely.
[36:07] Speaker 1: I think that if they go back to doing the
[36:09] Speaker 1: things they did in Game 3, it'll be fine.
[36:12] Speaker 2: I mean... if Wimby still has, you know, the three
[36:18] Speaker 2: games left, like he did essentially from the second half
[36:21] Speaker 2: of game two to the first half of game four,
[36:23] Speaker 2: like if he can stretch together two games together like that,
[36:26] Speaker 2: the Spurs are certainly alive. And then you get into
[36:28] Speaker 2: game seven in your building.
[36:29] Speaker 1: Yeah. And if Jalen Brunson forgets about the other guys,
[36:38] Speaker 1: which can happen, And to be fair to him, a
[36:41] Speaker 1: lot of game without Carl and without him in the game,
[36:44] Speaker 1: I could see why he'd be like, man, getting the
[36:45] Speaker 1: ball to the rest of these guys. What are you
[36:46] Speaker 1: talking about?
[36:47] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[36:48] Speaker 1: Like without Carl in the game, you can't. And it's
[36:49] Speaker 1: clear that they would try to run it through Carl.
[36:51] Speaker 1: And then you can't run it through Carl anymore. And
[36:53] Speaker 1: so find it. I'll do. I guess I have to
[36:57] Speaker 1: do it.
[36:57] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[36:58] Speaker 1: You know, so I guess you wind up. getting caught
[37:01] Speaker 1: and going back to that place. Stephon Castle, another maddening case,
[37:06] Speaker 1: by the way, in that game. He didn't play poorly,
[37:09] Speaker 1: but interestingly, he only took like seven shots.
[37:12] Speaker 2: Yeah, you called that. He's going to be a mystery
[37:15] Speaker 2: for a long, long time for those Spurs fans.
[37:17] Speaker 1: Yeah, he only took seven shots. Vassell, they say he
[37:21] Speaker 1: missed shots, but I feel like I didn't see none
[37:23] Speaker 1: of them. I felt like every time I saw him
[37:25] Speaker 1: put one up. Dylan Harper, late, didn't put up any shots.
[37:30] Speaker 1: And I think part of that, again, is they were
[37:31] Speaker 1: coming down the floor and they were rushing in the
[37:34] Speaker 1: ways they were. Now, Ryan, let me ask you this,
[37:36] Speaker 1: because I think this is the other topic. The officiating
[37:39] Speaker 1: was going to be way high on the list if
[37:40] Speaker 1: the Knicks lost that game. They won that game. I
[37:48] Speaker 1: don't know how bad, if I thought it was as
[37:50] Speaker 1: bad as people made it out to be. I think
[37:53] Speaker 1: a couple of those goal tens were bad, but that
[37:55] Speaker 1: also took the Knicks out the game in a way
[37:57] Speaker 1: that grownups are not supposed to allow themselves to be
[37:59] Speaker 1: taken out of the game.
[38:01] Speaker 2: It has become part of our discussion, these sports, through
[38:06] Speaker 2: the For You tab, is the more ref talk starts,
[38:12] Speaker 2: that snowballs into, because you can always find something wrong
[38:15] Speaker 2: with the officiating. And so once that enters the conversation cycle,
[38:19] Speaker 2: it is almost impossible for it to come back and
[38:26] Speaker 2: break contain once it gets there.
[38:27] Speaker 1: Let me tell you what is never going to be
[38:29] Speaker 1: a trending topic. Excellent officiating.
[38:32] Speaker 2: Ever.
[38:33] Speaker 1: Right? Like, it's never going to be, wow, those calls
[38:36] Speaker 1: were so good.
[38:37] Speaker 2: Everyone did such a great job.
[38:39] Speaker 1: It's never going to happen. And now, yo, we used
[38:42] Speaker 1: to go from joking about games being fixed. Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah. People, like,
[38:47] Speaker 1: really think these games are fixed now.
[38:49] Speaker 2: I mean, definitely as people, you know, are more conspiratorial,
[38:54] Speaker 2: you know, putting, you know, jillian crawford on these games
[38:59] Speaker 2: or whoever like like the jokes about putting the extender
[39:02] Speaker 2: on the game yes doesn't it like you know doesn't
[39:05] Speaker 2: feel as uh wholesome as it used.
[39:06] Speaker 1: To yeah yeah yeah no like these are these are
[39:10] Speaker 1: the these are the things that we've got here like
[39:13] Speaker 1: this is what it is and so i'd be curious
[39:14] Speaker 1: to know how that goes in game five because you
[39:17] Speaker 1: talk about the extender i mean we know he's going
[39:20] Speaker 1: to be there right right He being uh scott foster.
[39:24] Speaker 2: Yeah scott foster joy crawford's the old one.
[39:26] Speaker 3: Yeah yeah scott foster retired now yeah yeah scott foster
[39:30] Speaker 3: will be there to extend that and then in game
[39:32] Speaker 3: six i guess is that's what tony brothers is going
[39:35] Speaker 3: to show up or is.
[39:38] Speaker 1: It going to be what they did earlier in these
[39:40] Speaker 1: series and they had them out there together like you
[39:44] Speaker 1: know them pictures that people put on the internet when
[39:46] Speaker 1: it'd be like two good looking women with each other
[39:48] Speaker 1: And they hug it and somebody be like, ooh, the
[39:49] Speaker 1: mac and cheese and the yams are touching.
[39:51] Speaker 2: I think it's more your algorithm than mine.
[39:55] Speaker 1: You should come over here.
[39:57] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's on me. That's my mistake.
[39:59] Speaker 1: Yeah, Scott Foster and Tony Brothers, that is the opposite. Like,
[40:04] Speaker 1: that is like some unholy version of the Omar brother
[40:08] Speaker 1: Muzon like pulling up on you type of situation. Like,
[40:12] Speaker 1: that's what that is. Wouldn't shock me. We're going to
[40:14] Speaker 1: see one or both of them. In game five and one,
[40:20] Speaker 1: between game five and game six, we will see both.
[40:23] Speaker 2: Yes.
[40:24] Speaker 1: We will see. That's all to say it is about
[40:26] Speaker 1: Tony Brothers right fast. No matter where Tony Brothers was
[40:29] Speaker 1: in this world, ain't no way in the world that
[40:30] Speaker 1: I would see Tony Brothers and think that he made
[40:32] Speaker 1: his living running.
[40:34] Speaker 2: It really is amazing the people who refereed these games
[40:37] Speaker 2: doing high leverage games. physical activity for three hours at
[40:41] Speaker 2: a time and you look at them and they look
[40:42] Speaker 2: like dudes.
[40:43] Speaker 1: And having to make decisions.
[40:45] Speaker 2: And having to cut. It's not just running. It's not
[40:48] Speaker 2: a marathon. They got to be agile. They got to
[40:50] Speaker 2: change direction.
[40:51] Speaker 1: And rotations and all this stuff. You got it from here.
[40:55] Speaker 1: You got it from there.
[40:56] Speaker 2: I'm surprised these guys don't have an epidemic of tearing
[40:59] Speaker 2: their Achilles like the players do.
[41:01] Speaker 1: No, it's a lot going on, man. It's a lot.
[41:03] Speaker 1: But we're going to see. We're going to learn a
[41:06] Speaker 1: lot about a lot of people. in game five. I
[41:10] Speaker 1: think the other thing, too, that Victor is going to
[41:11] Speaker 1: have to pick up out of this game was in
[41:14] Speaker 1: that second half, I think they just thought that they
[41:15] Speaker 1: had the luxury to be out there styling. And why
[41:21] Speaker 1: are you shooting all these threes?
[41:23] Speaker 2: Right.
[41:23] Speaker 1: There was just no reason for them to not figure
[41:25] Speaker 1: out ways to run the clock and get closer to
[41:30] Speaker 1: the basket. And they blew it. They blew the chance
[41:35] Speaker 1: to really, really, really take control, and set up the pivotal,
[41:42] Speaker 1: pivotal Game 5. Instead, it is now, for the Spurs,
[41:48] Speaker 1: a do or die. No, no. It's a must win.
[41:52] Speaker 2: Must win.
[41:53] Speaker 1: Game 5. Must win Game 5. That is where we are.
