[0:08] Speaker 1: Heater Podcast.
[0:26] Speaker 2: Welcome to Meet Eater Radio Live. It's eleven am Mountain Time.
[0:30] Speaker 2: That's nine am for our friends in Prudo Bay, Alaska,
[0:33] Speaker 2: where Seth Morris tells me it's negative forty degrees. Today's Thursday,
[0:38] Speaker 2: January eighth, twenty twenty six. Ooh, and we're live from
[0:43] Speaker 2: Meet Eater HQ and Boseman. I'm your host, Randall Williams,
[0:46] Speaker 2: joined today by my two friends and colleagues, Corey Culkins
[0:51] Speaker 2: and Seth Morris. On today's show, we'll interview Brandon Maddox
[0:55] Speaker 2: from Soulencer Central about some big news in the world
[0:58] Speaker 2: of suppressor ownership with you got a sizzling hot tip
[1:01] Speaker 2: off for you. We're gonna catch up with mister Clay
[1:04] Speaker 2: Nukeomb who recently got himself a big old buck, and
[1:07] Speaker 2: we're gonna play a thrilling round of.
[1:09] Speaker 3: The Price is Right but Exciting.
[1:13] Speaker 2: Before we get into that, Seth, Corey, it's great to
[1:15] Speaker 2: be here with you both. A brand new year, exciting
[1:18] Speaker 2: things ahead of us. How have you been, Oh?
[1:20] Speaker 4: Well, happy New Year?
[1:21] Speaker 3: Yeah, happy new Year? Been great?
[1:23] Speaker 2: Any fun adventures from the high Cory. I know you're
[1:26] Speaker 2: you're on the mend.
[1:28] Speaker 3: It's true.
[1:28] Speaker 5: Yeah, boy, the last time I was on the show,
[1:30] Speaker 5: I had a big old black eye.
[1:32] Speaker 2: Yeah, you look good, thank you?
[1:34] Speaker 3: Yeahel good. You look fully healed.
[1:37] Speaker 4: Well, a couple of brain cells might still.
[1:39] Speaker 3: Be in there. Way, some of the injuries are invisible. Yeah,
[1:42] Speaker 3: and forever lasting.
[1:44] Speaker 4: Feeling a lot better though, thank you very much for asking.
[1:46] Speaker 2: That's good, Seth. You have any fun holiday break adventures?
[1:50] Speaker 6: Yeah, did some haunting. The nice little extension on the
[1:55] Speaker 6: deer season here in some units in Montana capitalized on that.
[1:59] Speaker 2: Yeah, we've got an extended season in some areas around
[2:04] Speaker 2: the general vicinity of Bozeman because of an EHD outbreak. Yep,
[2:09] Speaker 2: even the missus took advantage.
[2:11] Speaker 3: Yes, we killed some dose for the freezer.
[2:13] Speaker 6: And then H did some ice fishing, which is tough
[2:16] Speaker 6: to do in Montana right now. Oh yeah, you gotta
[2:18] Speaker 6: go up to elevation to find some good ice.
[2:21] Speaker 2: And you were telling me earlier that people shouldn't look
[2:24] Speaker 2: for their ice reports on Facebook.
[2:27] Speaker 3: Well you can, but people are just kind of mean.
[2:30] Speaker 4: They are.
[2:31] Speaker 3: The ice fishermen are in bad moods right now.
[2:33] Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I'm in those same groups and.
[2:35] Speaker 3: The Montana Ice Report. Yeah, people are just just.
[2:38] Speaker 6: Just you know, nice guys going on there asking to
[2:41] Speaker 6: see if there's any ice anywhere, and people just light
[2:43] Speaker 6: them up.
[2:43] Speaker 3: It's ridiculous. Yeah, go find out for yourself. Yeah, we
[2:46] Speaker 3: shall be in the same boat here. Yeah, we're all friends, guys.
[2:49] Speaker 5: Yeah, some folks don't want to drive five hours to
[2:51] Speaker 5: have to just turn around because it's not safe.
[2:53] Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly because someone lied to them on Facebook. Right, Corey,
[2:57] Speaker 2: did you get outside at all? Or are you mostly?
[2:59] Speaker 1: Uh?
[3:00] Speaker 5: You know, I was kind of hold up for half
[3:02] Speaker 5: of our break and then the second half I didn't
[3:05] Speaker 5: get out a whole lot, honestly. Gained fifteen pounds, did
[3:09] Speaker 5: a little skiing, but yeah, it's kind of a dreary
[3:12] Speaker 5: start to the winter around here. A lot of folks,
[3:15] Speaker 5: I think in the Rocky Mountain West are familiar with
[3:17] Speaker 5: right now. It's very dry and warm here in southwest Montana.
[3:22] Speaker 5: It's pretty sad. So, yeah, the ice fishing is not
[3:25] Speaker 5: really happening down here right now, and skiing's piss poor.
[3:30] Speaker 4: Yeah, we went for pressing.
[3:31] Speaker 2: We went for a hike hoping it would be drier,
[3:33] Speaker 2: but we were we'd gotten too high up in elevation
[3:38] Speaker 2: and it was just mud.
[3:39] Speaker 3: Oh yeah, it's so mud season. Yeah, shot some ducks.
[3:43] Speaker 2: With I wanted to know how the suits live, so
[3:48] Speaker 2: I thought what better way than to spend a day
[3:50] Speaker 2: with the CEO. So Ryan Callahan took me duck hunting,
[3:54] Speaker 2: shot a couple of ducks. All right, it turns out
[3:56] Speaker 2: that CEOs lived just like the rest of us. Really, Yeah, yeah,
[4:00] Speaker 2: can they shoot? He probably wouldn't want me to say this,
[4:04] Speaker 2: but Calc kind of had a rough day.
[4:06] Speaker 3: It's tough.
[4:07] Speaker 6: Yeah, I would say, is probably not like other CEOs though,
[4:11] Speaker 6: he probably hasn't changed a bit and won't change a bit.
[4:14] Speaker 3: I don't know.
[4:14] Speaker 2: I text him the other day to ask him how
[4:16] Speaker 2: his first day was, and he hasn't responded yet.
[4:18] Speaker 3: Oh he's changing.
[4:19] Speaker 7: He's changing eight days ago.
[4:23] Speaker 2: Uh no, Monday, officially on Monday. Yeah, so's he's a
[4:27] Speaker 2: busy man. I'll hear from him at some point, I'm
[4:29] Speaker 2: sure you will. Yeah, what do we have?
[4:34] Speaker 3: Do you have anything?
[4:35] Speaker 2: Look like in the next month or two any outdoor
[4:38] Speaker 2: adventures planned?
[4:40] Speaker 3: We're going to Texas next week, that's right. Yeah, what
[4:43] Speaker 3: are you doing down there? We're gonna go hunt some
[4:44] Speaker 3: bobcats and hawks. Well that sounds fun. Yeah, it should
[4:49] Speaker 3: be a good time. We have a special guest joining you. Yeah. Yeah,
[4:53] Speaker 3: Kevin Murphy. The people love it. The what do we
[4:58] Speaker 3: call him, he's like the guy father of small game
[5:01] Speaker 3: or the.
[5:02] Speaker 4: Steve's coined him as the world's greatest, greatest.
[5:04] Speaker 3: Small game hunter. Yeah, yeah, I love that guy.
[5:07] Speaker 5: That'll be fun to have him back on now hunting bobcats.
[5:10] Speaker 6: Yeah, call him in, calling him in, calling him in
[5:13] Speaker 6: and shooting the shotguns. Wow, call him in close.
[5:15] Speaker 3: Cool?
[5:16] Speaker 6: Yeah, down there in that brush and in South Texas,
[5:19] Speaker 6: just getting like a pocket that's pretty tight and start
[5:22] Speaker 6: calling and it's kind of crazy. Last time we did it,
[5:27] Speaker 6: there's one stand we did where we call it in
[5:29] Speaker 6: fourteen coyotes.
[5:31] Speaker 3: Mm hm and uh. I think the time of the
[5:36] Speaker 3: stands we did, bobcats came in. That's incredible.
[5:38] Speaker 8: Wow.
[5:39] Speaker 3: Yeah, a lot of kiddies, a lot of.
[5:41] Speaker 4: Their fur is probably as good as it's going to
[5:42] Speaker 4: get down there right now.
[5:43] Speaker 3: Yeah, which is not great, But I.
[5:46] Speaker 2: Bet Steve will spend a lot of time talking about
[5:48] Speaker 2: how the cats in Montana are better.
[5:50] Speaker 5: Yes, yeah, Well as a Montana and a football fan.
[5:54] Speaker 5: I'd love to shoot a Bobcat right now.
[5:57] Speaker 2: Cochriz a Gameye, Corey's Corey's not a Corey's not a
[6:03] Speaker 2: bandwagon fan.
[6:04] Speaker 3: No, Corey went down with the ships everal.
[6:06] Speaker 4: Weeks as the hell of a game.
[6:11] Speaker 3: It was, indeed well.
[6:13] Speaker 2: Joining us first on the line is Brandon Maddox, the
[6:15] Speaker 2: founder and CEO of Silencer Central.
[6:20] Speaker 9: How are you, gentlemen.
[6:21] Speaker 3: We're doing very well, Harry.
[6:22] Speaker 2: Thanks for being on the show.
[6:24] Speaker 10: Yeah, speaking of suits, I feel bad I got one
[6:26] Speaker 10: on today. I had a legislative event.
[6:29] Speaker 2: Well, you lost the tie, so you'll fit right in
[6:32] Speaker 2: around here.
[6:33] Speaker 4: Yeah, looking good.
[6:35] Speaker 3: So, Brandon, we wanted to have you on.
[6:38] Speaker 2: As some of our audience might know, last week, we
[6:41] Speaker 2: saw a pretty significant change in the world of suppressor
[6:44] Speaker 2: ownership or suppressor buying. But to fully appreciate that news,
[6:48] Speaker 2: you kind of need to know how it all works.
[6:50] Speaker 2: So I wonder if you can begin by just explaining
[6:52] Speaker 2: sort of the basic requirements and process, and and then
[6:56] Speaker 2: also how Silence Essential makes that easy for folks.
[7:01] Speaker 9: Yeah.
[7:01] Speaker 10: Sure, So, of course the laws change where there's no
[7:04] Speaker 10: tax stamp anymore, so it's cheaper to get a suppressor.
[7:08] Speaker 10: But you know, basic requirements are you got to be
[7:10] Speaker 10: able to pass the background check, Say it was buying
[7:12] Speaker 10: a firearm.
[7:14] Speaker 9: It's basically a title transfer.
[7:15] Speaker 10: We're asking the FEDS to retitle the ownership of the
[7:17] Speaker 10: silencer from us to you, and we just have to
[7:20] Speaker 10: have fingerprints and photos still from like a nineteen thirty
[7:23] Speaker 10: four requirement. We spit it to the ATF digitally, they
[7:26] Speaker 10: approve it, and then silences are central. Ships that sigwnich
[7:28] Speaker 10: are directly to your front door. So we know that's
[7:31] Speaker 10: popular in a lot of areas where you don't have
[7:33] Speaker 10: to leave the couch. You can buy express or it
[7:34] Speaker 10: shows right up to your front door. So yeah, that
[7:38] Speaker 10: our process. Think of it as we sort of own
[7:40] Speaker 10: the whole process. So when you buy one, we're managing
[7:42] Speaker 10: the paperwork for you digitally and you know, sending you
[7:45] Speaker 10: a text say hey you need to sign this, or
[7:47] Speaker 10: you know, sending a text say hey, don't forget it's approved.
[7:49] Speaker 10: We're about to ship it to you. So think of
[7:51] Speaker 10: it as a fully automated process through. Silences are central
[7:54] Speaker 10: from beginning to end.
[7:55] Speaker 2: Yeah, and there's I mean, as someone who's gone through
[7:58] Speaker 2: this process more times than i'd like to admit, there's
[8:01] Speaker 2: a lot of sort of boxes to check, and your
[8:04] Speaker 2: system just guides people right through it and kind of
[8:07] Speaker 2: holds their hand and makes it relatively seamless.
[8:12] Speaker 9: Yeah.
[8:12] Speaker 10: Absolutely, because basically we gather your information and then we
[8:16] Speaker 10: put it all into the forums. Then we let you
[8:17] Speaker 10: look at it, make sure we fill it out on
[8:19] Speaker 10: your behalf right, and then basically you're submitting it with
[8:21] Speaker 10: your own username and pen, which kind of creates your
[8:23] Speaker 10: digital signature, and then it goes right to the ATF
[8:26] Speaker 10: as soon as.
[8:26] Speaker 9: They approve it.
[8:27] Speaker 10: We mail it to your front door from our location
[8:29] Speaker 10: in your state, so we're in all forty two states
[8:31] Speaker 10: where silencers are legal. We have a physical location a
[8:34] Speaker 10: FFL there, we just ship it right to your front
[8:35] Speaker 10: door from there.
[8:36] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[8:37] Speaker 2: The first time that I received a package from you guys,
[8:41] Speaker 2: it was pretty surreal because I've done it the other
[8:44] Speaker 2: way and it's a lot of trips, you know, going
[8:47] Speaker 2: back and forth to a Class three dealer and doing
[8:51] Speaker 2: the whole like whatever it proved the ATF submission, come back,
[8:56] Speaker 2: go get it and all that stuff. So to just
[8:58] Speaker 2: have it arrive at your doors is pretty amazing. You
[9:02] Speaker 2: mentioned that the tax stamp the two hundred dollars fee
[9:06] Speaker 2: associated with the taps. The tax stamp has now gone
[9:09] Speaker 2: down to zero dollars. That was part of a bill
[9:13] Speaker 2: last year and now it's effective as of January first,
[9:16] Speaker 2: So basically all the suppressors out there are now two
[9:20] Speaker 2: hundred dollars cheaper in terms of like the end user
[9:23] Speaker 2: out of pocket.
[9:25] Speaker 9: Yeah.
[9:26] Speaker 2: Absolutely, How has that changed demand in the past few
[9:29] Speaker 2: in the past week or so, I mean, I imagine that
[9:32] Speaker 2: that business is looking pretty good for you guys right now.
[9:35] Speaker 9: Oh yeah, absolutely.
[9:36] Speaker 10: I mean you probably look online at some of the
[9:37] Speaker 10: forums of the groups, the dealers will tell you the
[9:40] Speaker 10: ATS websites crashing. You know, I'm pleased to say that
[9:44] Speaker 10: as of yesterday, we're real time far as submitting. You know,
[9:46] Speaker 10: anyone that was in the system on December twenty sixth
[9:49] Speaker 10: of twenty.
[9:50] Speaker 9: Five got kicked out.
[9:51] Speaker 10: They basically took anything that was waiting for approval and
[9:54] Speaker 10: they denied it, so we had to resubmit it. So,
[9:56] Speaker 10: and of course we've probably had a lot of people
[9:57] Speaker 10: bent up demand, people wanting to get them and then
[10:00] Speaker 10: waiting until the two and dollars tax stamp went through.
[10:02] Speaker 10: But you know, we're real time in our submitting. You know,
[10:05] Speaker 10: it's created a backlog of the ATF just because of
[10:08] Speaker 10: the you know, their computer system hasn't probably been able
[10:10] Speaker 10: to handle the volume as well as we had hoped
[10:13] Speaker 10: it even as they had hoped. In some cases, we're
[10:15] Speaker 10: having to submit your information, you know, twenty five, twenty
[10:18] Speaker 10: six times, but we're doing it digitally on the back end,
[10:20] Speaker 10: so you're not having a fool with it.
[10:21] Speaker 9: But I would say demands up three to four x,
[10:24] Speaker 9: you know.
[10:26] Speaker 10: You know, in the last year, we're all sitting around
[10:27] Speaker 10: going how many silencers should we make, and how many
[10:29] Speaker 10: should we buy and how many should we have ready
[10:31] Speaker 10: to sell? And it was really a crapshoot. Were just
[10:32] Speaker 10: throwing dice. But now that we're in it, we got
[10:34] Speaker 10: to keep up with the demand. So we're continuing to
[10:36] Speaker 10: buy more suppressors from other manufacturers and also make our
[10:39] Speaker 10: own to meet the demand.
[10:41] Speaker 3: Right.
[10:41] Speaker 2: And one of the bigger changes in the last few
[10:44] Speaker 2: years was the reduction in that weight time. Yes, I
[10:49] Speaker 2: guess maybe two three years ago, the ATF started processing
[10:52] Speaker 2: those things in what was once like a thirteen fourteen
[10:56] Speaker 2: month timeline down to maybe even a couple of days,
[10:59] Speaker 2: and that's what got me in the game, so to speak,
[11:04] Speaker 2: and really made me want to hop in. So it's
[11:06] Speaker 2: interesting that you see and at that time too, all
[11:09] Speaker 2: of a sudden, the suppressions that you wanted were out
[11:11] Speaker 2: of stock everywhere. So it's interesting how these little changes
[11:15] Speaker 2: in the process of acquiring one can result in this
[11:18] Speaker 2: huge demand for manufacturers like your like Science are Central.
[11:23] Speaker 9: Yeah, no, absolutely, Hey, obviously it's exciting for us.
[11:26] Speaker 10: Anytime you have demand and you're having trouble keeping up
[11:28] Speaker 10: with your phone calls, you're staying up late to return
[11:30] Speaker 10: phone calls, it's always always called a happy problem. But
[11:34] Speaker 10: you are right, small changes can create additional demand. I mean,
[11:38] Speaker 10: you know, Obama getting elected created a huge demand. You know,
[11:40] Speaker 10: he made some changes in twenty sixteen that created demand.
[11:43] Speaker 10: So there's been a lot of small things. But I
[11:45] Speaker 10: would definitely say, you know, I've been doing this twenty
[11:48] Speaker 10: plus years, and i'd say since the inception of nineteen
[11:50] Speaker 10: thirty four when they started this process. This is probably
[11:53] Speaker 10: the biggest change in the industry scene. I think it's
[11:55] Speaker 10: going to create more acceptance. I think that more people
[11:58] Speaker 10: using them are going to educate their elected to fits,
[12:00] Speaker 10: and we hope it's sort of a stepping stone to
[12:01] Speaker 10: further deregulation.
[12:03] Speaker 2: Yeah, well, that's that's exciting news. You know, as I mentioned,
[12:08] Speaker 2: there's probably people that are now maybe giving more serious
[12:11] Speaker 2: consideration to getting their first can What what did someone
[12:16] Speaker 2: need to know or need to look into as far
[12:19] Speaker 2: as figuring out what product they want and sort of
[12:23] Speaker 2: what do they for a first time consumer or first
[12:26] Speaker 2: time shop or what what advice would you give that individual?
[12:30] Speaker 9: Yeah, that's a good question.
[12:31] Speaker 10: So you know, in Silence a Central we sell everybody's stuff,
[12:34] Speaker 10: so you know, feel free to call us and we
[12:35] Speaker 10: can give you all the options available for what you're
[12:37] Speaker 10: trying to shoot. I mean there's two there's two schools
[12:39] Speaker 10: of thought. I mean some people will say, hey, their
[12:41] Speaker 10: initial sort of gut reaction when they start going down
[12:44] Speaker 10: this path is I would like to get a suppressor
[12:46] Speaker 10: silencer that could use on all my firearms. So they
[12:49] Speaker 10: kind of go down that path of getting something probably
[12:51] Speaker 10: too big, but that they could use for everything. Typically,
[12:53] Speaker 10: my personal advice has always been pick which firearm you
[12:57] Speaker 10: shoot the most frequently, and then get a suppress are
[13:00] Speaker 10: kind of tailored for that, and you'll find it to
[13:02] Speaker 10: be so effective. It's easier to open your wallet to
[13:04] Speaker 10: buy further later. You hate to buy one that's not perfect,
[13:07] Speaker 10: and then you don't like it and you wish you
[13:09] Speaker 10: had bought one for the one to shoot the most.
[13:11] Speaker 10: So my encouragement always is to think of the weapon
[13:13] Speaker 10: to shoot the most, and then suppress it because it's
[13:16] Speaker 10: gonna work better than you thought it would, and then
[13:17] Speaker 10: it's going to open the door for you maybe to
[13:19] Speaker 10: get further later. Just sometimes some people start the path
[13:21] Speaker 10: of going down multi caliber wanting to get one that
[13:23] Speaker 10: covers everything.
[13:24] Speaker 9: I just don't want them to be disappointed.
[13:26] Speaker 10: Not that they would be, but I just don't want
[13:27] Speaker 10: them to get something too big of a hole through
[13:29] Speaker 10: the middle, and then it's not as effective as it
[13:31] Speaker 10: could be.
[13:32] Speaker 2: Right, And and like there's I remember reading it before
[13:37] Speaker 2: I owned a can. I remember reading, Oh, once you
[13:39] Speaker 2: buy the first one, then you're you're hooked, and you're
[13:42] Speaker 2: just going to keep buying more and more.
[13:44] Speaker 3: I'm in that boat. Oh yeah, that's true, because I
[13:46] Speaker 3: think I.
[13:48] Speaker 2: Had an idea in my mind of what owning a
[13:50] Speaker 2: can would be like as far as just my shooting
[13:53] Speaker 2: experience and my hunting experience. But it's really like surpassed
[13:58] Speaker 2: any expectation that I had of just like changing how
[14:01] Speaker 2: I use my guns and how I hunt, like with
[14:05] Speaker 2: a partner with my wife, trips to the range, and
[14:07] Speaker 2: everything else like that. I mean, what do you hear
[14:09] Speaker 2: from customers that a first time customer that gets their
[14:12] Speaker 2: first can, and how do you hear from those folks
[14:15] Speaker 2: as far as like what their impressions are and what
[14:17] Speaker 2: surprises them?
[14:19] Speaker 10: Yeah, one hundred percent. I mean I'd say you're spot on.
[14:21] Speaker 10: I mean, it's that's why I liked getting into suppressors.
[14:24] Speaker 10: I mean, most people know my backstory. I start out
[14:26] Speaker 10: as a pharmacist, and people thought, why would you leave
[14:28] Speaker 10: pharmacist go into this, And I'm like, it's just so
[14:30] Speaker 10: exciting because I feel like you really had to twist
[14:32] Speaker 10: people's arms years ago when the assigleuncers weren't as familiar
[14:35] Speaker 10: to get them to buy one. But one hundred percent
[14:37] Speaker 10: of the time, once they bought one, they said, I'll
[14:39] Speaker 10: never shoot a shoot a rifle or handgun again without
[14:42] Speaker 10: a suppressor.
[14:43] Speaker 9: So it's kind of a life changing deal.
[14:44] Speaker 10: I mean people go from just kind of you know,
[14:47] Speaker 10: handling the sound, handling the recoil to now to have
[14:49] Speaker 10: a tool to mitigate it. It's a nice luxury once
[14:52] Speaker 10: you know each of you all have seen it. Once
[14:54] Speaker 10: you use it, you never want to shoot again with
[14:55] Speaker 10: that one.
[14:56] Speaker 2: Yeah, and this is this is not in the scripture,
[14:59] Speaker 2: but I'm just remembering.
[15:00] Speaker 3: We did a live tour.
[15:03] Speaker 2: In the South in December and one of our guests
[15:06] Speaker 2: at one of those events was Will Primos, and Steve
[15:09] Speaker 2: asked him, if you could give your younger self one
[15:12] Speaker 2: piece of advice, what would it be? And Will, without hesitation, said,
[15:16] Speaker 2: protect your hearing.
[15:17] Speaker 3: So I mean.
[15:18] Speaker 2: It's a big, big, big deal. So yeah, Brandon, looking ahead,
[15:25] Speaker 2: I mean we're obviously at a moment right now where
[15:28] Speaker 2: things are real exciting. But looking ahead to twenty twenty six,
[15:31] Speaker 2: what's new on your end as far as the business
[15:34] Speaker 2: or the banished product line or things that folks can
[15:38] Speaker 2: look forward to.
[15:39] Speaker 10: Yeah, So I'd say one thing is we'll continue to
[15:41] Speaker 10: see more products come out for sign Wentz Central. One
[15:44] Speaker 10: thing is important is just waight, so think about the
[15:46] Speaker 10: Titanium options. The other thing we have in coming out
[15:48] Speaker 10: and I know your audience is probably more consumers, but
[15:51] Speaker 10: we also have a software that now we're going to
[15:53] Speaker 10: have dealers where they can actually use our software to
[15:55] Speaker 10: help them process the forums. So, you know, we're kind
[15:57] Speaker 10: of famous over the years for working events. You know,
[15:59] Speaker 10: we work over hundred events a year. We sort of
[16:01] Speaker 10: fine tuned our software to help sort of intake that
[16:04] Speaker 10: information from the events we've worked. So now we're going
[16:06] Speaker 10: to roll it out to actual dealers too. So you know,
[16:09] Speaker 10: we know only about twenty five to thirty percent of
[16:11] Speaker 10: FFL dealers actually sell silencers. Our goals to you know,
[16:13] Speaker 10: kind of double that at least make it. We're half
[16:16] Speaker 10: of people that have an FFL that are in the
[16:17] Speaker 10: business of selling firearms also do suppressors. So we're going
[16:20] Speaker 10: to make software for them that's really cost effective. It
[16:23] Speaker 10: makes it easier for them to you know, take the
[16:25] Speaker 10: information in from the consumer and then actually process getting
[16:27] Speaker 10: a silencer.
[16:28] Speaker 2: You know, super easy, Very cool, and you guys was
[16:32] Speaker 2: sort of touched on this a little bit. But Silence
[16:35] Speaker 2: or Central offers services beyond just simply the retail I mean,
[16:39] Speaker 2: you do barrel threading. A last year, I did an
[16:42] Speaker 2: SBR through your web interface. I mean sort of it's
[16:46] Speaker 2: a one stop shop if you're looking to make this
[16:50] Speaker 2: transition as far as like getting what you need on
[16:53] Speaker 2: the legal side and also getting what you need on
[16:55] Speaker 2: the product side.
[16:56] Speaker 9: Yeah. Absolutely.
[16:57] Speaker 10: I mean, obviously our expertise is the whole compliance side,
[17:00] Speaker 10: making sure everything's done right. And i'd say that, you know,
[17:03] Speaker 10: really last year, we knew it was going to be
[17:05] Speaker 10: slow the last seven months of the year because everyone
[17:06] Speaker 10: knew this two under all our tax was going away,
[17:09] Speaker 10: So we really doubled down as an organization to find
[17:11] Speaker 10: ways to make us more efficient and also to add
[17:13] Speaker 10: more technology to our processes so that it was just
[17:15] Speaker 10: seamless for the consumers. So I think that you know,
[17:18] Speaker 10: even if someone's bought in the past, if they go
[17:19] Speaker 10: through the process with us again, they're going to see
[17:21] Speaker 10: a lot of areas where you know, maybe things took
[17:23] Speaker 10: a little bit longer than you know, we both hope,
[17:25] Speaker 10: and now they're just so much.
[17:26] Speaker 9: Smoother and quicker.
[17:28] Speaker 10: Just we're really in a position where we're able to
[17:29] Speaker 10: handle the volume and scale it up. And it's always
[17:31] Speaker 10: hard when we're you know, we've won e five thousand
[17:33] Speaker 10: every year we've applied, so you know, you see that growth.
[17:36] Speaker 10: But I feel like we really were able to spend
[17:37] Speaker 10: six or seven months really focusing on the organization making
[17:40] Speaker 10: that technology and making it more efficient.
[17:43] Speaker 3: Very cool.
[17:43] Speaker 2: Well, Brandon, I know you guys are busy over there,
[17:46] Speaker 2: so we won't take up any more of your time.
[17:49] Speaker 2: Happy new Year. Great chatting with you, and hope to
[17:51] Speaker 2: talk to you again here.
[17:52] Speaker 9: Thank you, thanks for opportunity, you have a good new year.
[17:55] Speaker 3: Thanks for branding.
[17:56] Speaker 9: See you guys.
[17:58] Speaker 4: Oh boy, I couldn't imagine suppressor.
[18:03] Speaker 3: They're so awesome.
[18:04] Speaker 5: I curse it carrying around that extra length. I haven't
[18:07] Speaker 5: delved into like cutting my barrel down. Well, but I'm
[18:11] Speaker 5: not that techie.
[18:13] Speaker 3: Oh, don't have the need to give you.
[18:15] Speaker 2: I'll give you guys number over there. I'll do it
[18:17] Speaker 2: while you wait for free. Nope, barrel very competitive pricing,
[18:23] Speaker 2: very competitive carbon.
[18:25] Speaker 4: Oh yeah, no all that.
[18:27] Speaker 5: So, but like what I'm trying to say is like
[18:29] Speaker 5: even just the additional a little bit of weight, a
[18:31] Speaker 5: little bit of length, it's worth it when it comes
[18:33] Speaker 5: time to pull the trigger.
[18:34] Speaker 2: I tell people if they ask, like they want to
[18:37] Speaker 2: get a new gun, they want to add a rifle
[18:39] Speaker 2: to the collection, I'll say, buy a can, yeah, because
[18:43] Speaker 2: you'll have a new gun. Like it's just experience, yeah,
[18:49] Speaker 2: I mean, just like getting out and putting rounds down range.
[18:52] Speaker 2: Like Sydney used to have a little bit of a Okay,
[18:55] Speaker 2: I'm done with that, but you put the can on
[18:57] Speaker 2: there and it's just like oh yeah, practice away, Oh
[19:00] Speaker 2: yeah for kids.
[19:03] Speaker 5: Kids now in silence or Central just makes it so easy. Website,
[19:07] Speaker 5: the customer service, good folks.
[19:09] Speaker 3: Just do it. Do it all from your house and
[19:11] Speaker 3: then it shows up to your door. Yeah, simple, great.
[19:13] Speaker 2: Well, my hot tip would be to put a can
[19:16] Speaker 2: on your gun, but we've.
[19:19] Speaker 3: Got some other hot tips.
[19:20] Speaker 8: Phil, Oh, that's all.
[19:36] Speaker 2: Hot tip off is where two listeners go head to
[19:39] Speaker 2: head with competing pieces of advice, and after we hear
[19:42] Speaker 2: each tip, uh, the the audience will declare which one
[19:48] Speaker 2: is hotter?
[19:48] Speaker 3: That's correct. I will start a poll in the live chat.
[19:52] Speaker 3: Keep a script.
[19:53] Speaker 2: The script had us making this judgment, but it's up
[19:56] Speaker 2: to you, fair listeners. And this rounds winner is gonna
[20:00] Speaker 2: see if our new I'd rather be line of logo
[20:02] Speaker 2: wear with one shirt and one hoodie of the winners choosing.
[20:07] Speaker 3: Look at this.
[20:07] Speaker 2: Look at this shirt on Corey. Here it says I'd
[20:09] Speaker 2: rather be hunting squirrels.
[20:11] Speaker 3: Great shirt.
[20:12] Speaker 2: Uh, there's another one says I'd rather be hunting huge bucks.
[20:18] Speaker 3: Like so like so pretty cool.
[20:20] Speaker 2: And then one that says I'd rather be trapping beavers,
[20:24] Speaker 2: big beavers, not any big, big, big, big beaver.
[20:27] Speaker 4: Steve had a hand in that, one big old bea.
[20:30] Speaker 2: So the winner will get to choose one shirt and
[20:32] Speaker 2: one hoodie from that line. We're really excited about these
[20:35] Speaker 2: new shirts. They will be on the meat Eater store tomorrow,
[20:39] Speaker 2: January ninth. Now, if you have a hot tip, take
[20:42] Speaker 2: a one minute video on your phone and email it
[20:45] Speaker 2: to radio at the meat eater dot com with the
[20:47] Speaker 2: subject line hot tip off. This week it's a Battle
[20:51] Speaker 2: of the Johns with John Mertz versus John Foley.
[20:54] Speaker 3: Take it away, Phil.
[20:58] Speaker 7: Shot Murtz.
[21:02] Speaker 3: Hey, everybody kiss the season early ice season.
[21:06] Speaker 11: So let's head out there right well, is the ice safe?
[21:11] Speaker 11: Here's my hot tip. We're gonna measure the ice with
[21:15] Speaker 11: our chisel. You're gonna take some electrical tape. I used
[21:20] Speaker 11: white because it stands up better against my blue chisel,
[21:22] Speaker 11: and you're gonna put a stripe at four inches, a
[21:24] Speaker 11: strip at eight inches, and one at twelve inches.
[21:27] Speaker 3: You're gonna measure that.
[21:28] Speaker 11: Off of the shoulder of the chisel here, so that
[21:31] Speaker 11: when you push the chisel through you pull back up
[21:34] Speaker 11: on it, catch the edge of the ice, and then
[21:36] Speaker 11: read off the waterline where it is.
[21:38] Speaker 3: You can see if I've got my tape here.
[21:40] Speaker 11: I've got my four inch stripe that's thick enough for walking,
[21:44] Speaker 11: an eight inch stripe just good to know, and then
[21:46] Speaker 11: a twelve inch stripe where you can feel a little
[21:48] Speaker 11: more comfortable driving a truck on the ice.
[21:51] Speaker 3: So I just broke through there.
[21:52] Speaker 11: I turned the chisel sideways, pull it up so the
[21:55] Speaker 11: shoulder of the chisel hits the bottom of the ice.
[21:57] Speaker 11: I can see the water level is pretty much up
[21:59] Speaker 11: to that first stripe, so we got about four inches Therefore,
[22:01] Speaker 11: were probably good to go.
[22:03] Speaker 3: Because it's four.
[22:04] Speaker 11: Inches here does not necessarily mean that it's four inches
[22:07] Speaker 11: out there.
[22:07] Speaker 3: So keep checking as you go and stay safe out there.
[22:10] Speaker 4: Great editing, John, Yeah, clee, you.
[22:17] Speaker 5: All right?
[22:18] Speaker 3: What's up?
[22:18] Speaker 9: Everybody got a hot tip for you.
[22:21] Speaker 12: This one's been done before, but I haven't seen it.
[22:23] Speaker 9: Done like this.
[22:24] Speaker 12: So this is one of those things that when I
[22:27] Speaker 12: do it, I just kind of thought everybody.
[22:29] Speaker 9: Knew about it.
[22:30] Speaker 12: I know the common way to do it getting the
[22:33] Speaker 12: brain matter out of the skull is with a drill
[22:36] Speaker 12: or a coat hanger or a screwdriver or a stick
[22:40] Speaker 12: which works. But once I figured out this way or
[22:42] Speaker 12: found out this way, I don't do it any other way.
[22:45] Speaker 9: It's pretty quick.
[22:47] Speaker 12: All you need is in airchuck like this. This was
[22:51] Speaker 12: like ten bucks at Harbor Freight. This is something you
[22:55] Speaker 12: can pack with you and take with you on the
[22:57] Speaker 12: road if you want. That's all you have to do
[22:59] Speaker 12: is stop at a maybe a mechanic shop or a
[23:03] Speaker 12: tire shop or somewhere on the side of the road
[23:05] Speaker 12: to get you an airline. This takes longer to talk
[23:10] Speaker 12: about than actually due the bucket's not needed, all right,
[23:13] Speaker 12: you'll see why in a minute.
[23:14] Speaker 9: But you can do this with the trash bag is
[23:16] Speaker 9: put a hole in it.
[23:18] Speaker 12: You stick the air nozzle into the brain cavity, set
[23:22] Speaker 12: it down in there.
[23:24] Speaker 13: Oh, it's almost too amusing.
[23:29] Speaker 9: And that's it. Cleaned it out perfectly.
[23:33] Speaker 14: H See if I can see the after math from.
[23:35] Speaker 12: The bucket here, there's the whole one quick blast of
[23:39] Speaker 12: air and that's it. And my pup is excited because
[23:43] Speaker 12: he'll probably lick up the extra stuff.
[23:46] Speaker 7: Enjoy.
[23:47] Speaker 4: That was good.
[23:48] Speaker 2: That was a good one, both good, both good. I
[23:51] Speaker 2: trusted the guy the ice guy trusted his accent.
[23:54] Speaker 3: That went a long way for me.
[23:55] Speaker 2: Yeah, but I'm not an ice man, so I had
[23:58] Speaker 2: to actually send that to you guys for your thoughts
[24:01] Speaker 2: on how hot it was.
[24:02] Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, Seth, you had a point that nobody's probably
[24:04] Speaker 5: going to be trying to chisel through about a foot
[24:06] Speaker 5: of ice no for checking ice this early season.
[24:09] Speaker 4: I feel like that's a good tip.
[24:10] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, a couple of whacks on the chisel.
[24:12] Speaker 6: If if you go through, it's probably you know, i'd measure,
[24:17] Speaker 6: but you know, like what two to three good chisels
[24:20] Speaker 6: and if the chisel doesn't go through, you're typically good
[24:23] Speaker 6: to go.
[24:24] Speaker 2: And just a reminder to our audience. Hop in there
[24:27] Speaker 2: and let us know which of those tips is hotter
[24:31] Speaker 2: the pole is running. Uh, you guys, how's what's your
[24:35] Speaker 2: preferred method of extracting or extruding whatever? The proper word
[24:40] Speaker 2: would be brain matter, big stick guy, stick guy.
[24:44] Speaker 5: But recently we had somebody on who put a tent
[24:48] Speaker 5: steak in a drill bit, oh or into a drill
[24:50] Speaker 5: as a bit and just rolled it up in there
[24:52] Speaker 5: and turn it into mash potatoes and then let it
[24:55] Speaker 5: fall out, give it a little rintse but this looks.
[24:57] Speaker 4: Yeah, that's cleaner.
[24:59] Speaker 6: Usually I just boil it with the brain matter in
[25:01] Speaker 6: there and then just cover myself with it when when
[25:05] Speaker 6: I pressure wash it.
[25:06] Speaker 4: Yeah, get a little in your eye.
[25:07] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[25:07] Speaker 2: I find that if I can do anything with an
[25:09] Speaker 2: air compressor, I'm always looking for new ways to use
[25:13] Speaker 2: my air compressor.
[25:14] Speaker 3: Yeah. It's just a good point everybody.
[25:17] Speaker 2: When child is born, it should be given a small
[25:19] Speaker 2: air compressor and a little air chuck like that.
[25:22] Speaker 4: It's a great toy.
[25:23] Speaker 3: It's a great toy.
[25:24] Speaker 4: Kid loves to play with it.
[25:25] Speaker 2: It's my favorite cleaning instrument. I wish I had a
[25:28] Speaker 2: I wish I had an air compressor, like at every
[25:30] Speaker 2: door to the house to just blow out the little
[25:33] Speaker 2: sills and everything.
[25:34] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[25:34] Speaker 4: Man for cleaning out your truck.
[25:36] Speaker 3: But boy, that the bucket is just such a nice touch.
[25:38] Speaker 3: The bucket, the bucket with the hole in it is
[25:40] Speaker 3: a nice touch.
[25:41] Speaker 4: What you're gonna need, I.
[25:42] Speaker 3: Don't you don't get covered in it.
[25:43] Speaker 4: You need that bucket to sit on.
[25:45] Speaker 3: Yeah, there you go.
[25:46] Speaker 2: I like how amused he was that it worked so quock.
[25:51] Speaker 4: His dog was pumped too. That's a tough one to
[25:53] Speaker 4: be honestly.
[25:54] Speaker 1: Yeah, and I'm just gonna end the pull now because
[25:56] Speaker 1: it's the chat agrees with ninety one percent of the vote.
[26:00] Speaker 3: Was kind of an unfair head to head. I felt bad. Yeah,
[26:04] Speaker 3: I liked that one so much. Yeah, John fully wins.
[26:08] Speaker 2: John Foley, Congratulations, John, thank you for playing.
[26:12] Speaker 5: I have a hunch he's gonna want the I'd rather
[26:15] Speaker 5: be hunting big Bucks shirt, but we'll reach out to
[26:17] Speaker 5: you and find out.
[26:19] Speaker 3: Thank you. John.
[26:22] Speaker 2: Alrighty Phil, it's time for a little bit of it.
[26:24] Speaker 3: It's time for listener feed.
[26:26] Speaker 1: Before we do that, would one of you please call
[26:29] Speaker 1: Clay Nuko because he said he was going to hang
[26:31] Speaker 1: out in the waiting room and he's been gone for
[26:33] Speaker 1: about twenty minutes, so I hope everything's good with himcause
[26:36] Speaker 1: he is our next gues.
[26:36] Speaker 4: We'll probably had a mule get out.
[26:38] Speaker 3: We'll be fine. We'll be fine.
[26:39] Speaker 2: We'll just do a little bit of extra audience engagement here.
[26:43] Speaker 4: I'll call him.
[26:44] Speaker 1: Leland asks, how long do you guys screw around with
[26:48] Speaker 1: the firearm that gives y'all zeroing problems. I'm having problems
[26:51] Speaker 1: with one particular gun, but don't want to throw in
[26:53] Speaker 1: the towel. Early you were giving up on a gun
[26:56] Speaker 1: because it's not it's not behaving.
[27:01] Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, and no, I would say I would say
[27:06] Speaker 2: there's not really like.
[27:07] Speaker 3: A messing around.
[27:10] Speaker 2: I'm checking things methodically, like I'm I'm putting a different
[27:15] Speaker 2: scope on it, make sure there's no issue with the
[27:17] Speaker 2: scope before I do that. I'm checking the mouts, like
[27:20] Speaker 2: checking the even not just the rings but the rail
[27:24] Speaker 2: as well. I'm checking to see if there's any issues
[27:28] Speaker 2: with stock fitment, to make sure that the stock is
[27:31] Speaker 2: fully seated on like if it's a it's got a
[27:35] Speaker 2: standard like Remington style recoil log I'm making sure that's
[27:38] Speaker 2: seated in there.
[27:41] Speaker 3: Then I'm to make sure everything's torqued, everything's.
[27:44] Speaker 2: Torque to spec, you know, check that'll run a dollar
[27:47] Speaker 2: bill or a couple of sheets like receipt paper between
[27:51] Speaker 2: the barrel and the stock to make sure that that
[27:53] Speaker 2: channel is open and free floated.
[27:56] Speaker 3: And then I don't know.
[27:58] Speaker 2: I mean it depends like is it really bad or
[28:04] Speaker 2: are you looking for incremental improvements. I think there's a
[28:06] Speaker 2: lot of variables there To answer that question.
[28:09] Speaker 3: How many different amos have you tried?
[28:11] Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean if something's if something's wandering, like if
[28:15] Speaker 2: you if your zero is wandering. It's an issue with
[28:18] Speaker 2: your your scope or your or there's something mechanical. But
[28:23] Speaker 2: if it's just not grouping as as precisely as you'd like,
[28:29] Speaker 2: I would I would start moving around with trying different ammunition.
[28:33] Speaker 3: And all that.
[28:35] Speaker 2: Life's too short to shoot an inaccurate rifle.
[28:38] Speaker 3: So that's true.
[28:40] Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I think that the sort of the
[28:43] Speaker 2: process of nailing that down really depends on what you're
[28:47] Speaker 2: seeing on paper.
[28:49] Speaker 3: And how much you want to throw, how much money
[28:52] Speaker 3: you want to.
[28:52] Speaker 2: Throw, and is it bedded. Yeah, maybe a good betting job.
[29:03] Speaker 1: Brad Weber, bunny hunter, your name checks out. He would
[29:06] Speaker 1: like me to say that Brad has a group of
[29:08] Speaker 1: friends that gets together to go rabbit hunting, and every
[29:10] Speaker 1: year they're doing it this weekend in northeast Wisconsin.
[29:13] Speaker 3: I love to have a shout out cow, good.
[29:16] Speaker 2: Luck, have fun, enjoy your rabbit hunt.
[29:20] Speaker 3: That sounds fun, Brad and crew.
[29:23] Speaker 2: Best of luck on your gathering of the Hawsson feffer.
[29:28] Speaker 2: I think it's just the hasson the feffer. Is the pepper, well, sure,
[29:31] Speaker 2: hopefully that's maybe on the list he's doing.
[29:33] Speaker 3: I see, bring some pepper.
[29:35] Speaker 4: Sorry, I don't speak.
[29:37] Speaker 1: Chris is wondering the the nitty gritty details of creating
[29:40] Speaker 1: a fleshing beam seth specific wood. Is there a particular
[29:43] Speaker 1: method making a flesh mine?
[29:46] Speaker 6: Mine is a you know that that like half log
[29:51] Speaker 6: siding that you side side houses with. It's like one
[29:55] Speaker 6: side dimensional lumber, the other sides round it. That's all
[29:58] Speaker 6: my beam is is that, And then I tapered it
[30:01] Speaker 6: off on the end to a point.
[30:02] Speaker 3: Sand it, sand it, make it with anything, make it smooth.
[30:06] Speaker 6: Uh, you don't have to, because when you're fleshing, you
[30:09] Speaker 6: just get saturated with with fat.
[30:11] Speaker 2: Oh yes, it's self self greasy.
[30:13] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[30:14] Speaker 4: Interesting on a little winter activity.
[30:16] Speaker 3: There you go.
[30:18] Speaker 1: Let's see, we've got a question from Rob. He's asked
[30:22] Speaker 1: if we've had multiple questions in the chat asking me
[30:24] Speaker 1: about online store inventory. Unfortunately, I do not run the story.
[30:28] Speaker 1: It would be a good It would be good for
[30:29] Speaker 1: people to kind of like keep us updated because this
[30:31] Speaker 1: would be a perfect platform to be like, hey, the
[30:33] Speaker 1: stuff's back in stock.
[30:34] Speaker 5: Uh.
[30:35] Speaker 1: Rob is asking about the Gnome T shirts. Most of
[30:38] Speaker 1: them are sold out. We do have two there in stock.
[30:39] Speaker 1: I'm not sure how many what the sizes are there,
[30:42] Speaker 1: but yeah, well we make something like the Gnome T shirts,
[30:44] Speaker 1: we usually make a certain amount as sort of kind
[30:46] Speaker 1: of like a special limited edition thing, especially with the
[30:49] Speaker 1: Gnome because he's doing so much different stuff, so they're
[30:52] Speaker 1: kind of kind of like collectory.
[30:54] Speaker 3: That a lot of stuff.
[30:57] Speaker 4: Yeah, I know.
[30:57] Speaker 5: All I can say is twenty twenty five. Past year
[31:00] Speaker 5: was the year of the Gnome around here, so we
[31:02] Speaker 5: did a new shirt and a new theme every month.
[31:04] Speaker 5: So I don't believe we're.
[31:05] Speaker 4: Doing that this time.
[31:06] Speaker 2: If some catches your eye, jump on it, because especially
[31:09] Speaker 2: with those limited runs, they do sell out.
[31:12] Speaker 3: Yeah, they were popular.
[31:13] Speaker 1: And then we also had a question about the Hot Sauce.
[31:15] Speaker 1: You and me both brother. My bottle's almost gone. I'd
[31:17] Speaker 1: love to get some more. So I cannot give you
[31:21] Speaker 1: an update about when the Hot Sauce will be back in.
[31:23] Speaker 3: Stop, so I apologize.
[31:25] Speaker 1: Let's see here. A question for Randalls is from Evan.
[31:28] Speaker 1: When researching for both the Long Hunters and High Hunters,
[31:30] Speaker 1: did you come across any records of color phase animals
[31:34] Speaker 1: back in the day.
[31:34] Speaker 2: That's a great question. Not that comes to mind, Not
[31:41] Speaker 2: that comes to mind.
[31:45] Speaker 4: Looks like he's a bear hunter.
[31:46] Speaker 2: Yeah, the short answer would be no, but it's interesting.
[31:50] Speaker 2: It wasn't really something that I was paying attention to.
[31:53] Speaker 2: I mean, I feel like correct me if I'm wrong.
[31:58] Speaker 2: But color phase are relatively rare, like in the eastern
[32:03] Speaker 2: half of the country when we're talking about long hunters
[32:05] Speaker 2: and then.
[32:06] Speaker 6: Piebald deer or I don't know what the stat is there,
[32:11] Speaker 6: but it's very rare.
[32:12] Speaker 2: But then those mountain men, they were just real fixated
[32:18] Speaker 2: on Griz. They do describe Griz in a lot of
[32:20] Speaker 2: different ways, like in terms of like the color of
[32:23] Speaker 2: their your coat, whether they're lighter or darker. But no,
[32:26] Speaker 2: I didn't see any like chocolate cinnamon references.
[32:30] Speaker 3: I'm sure.
[32:31] Speaker 2: I'm sure there's a research paper out there with like
[32:34] Speaker 2: historical references to color phase bears. I'm sure someone's done that,
[32:38] Speaker 2: but not, I couldn't point in the right direction.
[32:42] Speaker 1: Cool, we'll do one more for this round of clay
[32:45] Speaker 1: on Clay is on? He perfect, He is waiting. I'll
[32:47] Speaker 1: do one more question that's is from Nick. Question, how
[32:49] Speaker 1: do you determine whether to use a guide service, drop
[32:52] Speaker 1: in or go fully self guided when going to a
[32:54] Speaker 1: new destination On a tag? He says he just drew
[32:56] Speaker 1: an idaho Elk tag and he's trying to decide.
[33:00] Speaker 2: Question for you would be how much money do you
[33:04] Speaker 2: have and where would you like to spend it and experience?
[33:09] Speaker 3: Where do you want to go? Get you a guide?
[33:14] Speaker 3: If you're asking, I mean it.
[33:16] Speaker 2: It depends on are you going on your first elk hunt?
[33:20] Speaker 2: Are you going with anyone who has hunted elk before?
[33:24] Speaker 2: Like I think it's I don't think it's crazy to
[33:27] Speaker 2: go on your first elk hunt without an experienced elk
[33:29] Speaker 2: hunter and go unguided.
[33:34] Speaker 3: Yourself. You're going to learn a lot.
[33:36] Speaker 5: Yeah, that's true, but you're gonna and you're gonna make
[33:39] Speaker 5: a lot of failures.
[33:40] Speaker 2: If you're in a If you're in a position life
[33:43] Speaker 2: financially speaking to UH go guided, and you have a
[33:49] Speaker 2: guide that has good references, and you think we'll be
[33:52] Speaker 2: able to really teach you about hunting the western landscape,
[33:56] Speaker 2: I'd certainly take advantage of it, especially if it's like
[33:59] Speaker 2: something that you're comfortable spending that money.
[34:02] Speaker 3: Yeah, do your research.
[34:03] Speaker 2: I think a drop camp, generally speaking, I would be
[34:07] Speaker 2: leery of because it's sort of you're paying for something
[34:15] Speaker 2: and then you don't have that person there with you
[34:18] Speaker 2: to share their experience. And ultimately, like if you do
[34:23] Speaker 2: it DIY. You know, I went to this spot because
[34:26] Speaker 2: I wanted to go there versus I just got dropped
[34:29] Speaker 2: off there, because I feel like a drop camp can
[34:33] Speaker 2: make you question your decision making if you aren't seeing
[34:36] Speaker 2: or make you question the outfitter if you aren't seeing
[34:38] Speaker 2: animals see.
[34:39] Speaker 6: And if you do a DIY, you can always bail
[34:41] Speaker 6: and go to a different spot, right.
[34:43] Speaker 2: And you can hunt that place again for years to
[34:46] Speaker 2: come without you know, feeling like that, because that's the
[34:48] Speaker 2: other thing, is like if an outfitter takes you somewhere
[34:51] Speaker 2: and you hunt it, you don't want to go back
[34:53] Speaker 2: in there on your own the.
[34:54] Speaker 3: Next year because it's a bad Yeah, yeah, it's a
[34:56] Speaker 3: no no.
[34:57] Speaker 5: Most outfitters are going to give you a lot of
[34:59] Speaker 5: pointers for that a though. So there we're going to
[35:01] Speaker 5: have a massive leg up doing that.
[35:04] Speaker 1: And yeah, Nick says no comment about the finances because
[35:06] Speaker 1: his wife.
[35:06] Speaker 3: May be reading for you. Nick, good for you. Oh
[35:10] Speaker 3: look at the hot tip off up there. You go, well, yeah,
[35:13] Speaker 3: good luck. I hope you have a hope.
[35:15] Speaker 2: It sounds like he drew maybe uh this week in
[35:19] Speaker 2: the Idaho and un resident drawn might be planning his fall,
[35:22] Speaker 2: so hope that works out for you.
[35:25] Speaker 3: Joining us.
[35:26] Speaker 2: Next on the line is a man who needs no introduction.
[35:29] Speaker 2: You love him, We love him. He's a storyteller, he's
[35:32] Speaker 2: a musician, and black Bears tremble at the mere mention
[35:36] Speaker 2: of his name. Mister Clay nukeom, Hey, everybody, Clay, welcome
[35:41] Speaker 2: to the show.
[35:43] Speaker 3: I feel like we should clap. Yeah, I know. Do
[35:46] Speaker 3: we have a round of applause? We can do?
[35:48] Speaker 12: Phil?
[35:48] Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, I might. Here we go, hold on?
[35:51] Speaker 1: Oh there were he's just glistening with with with big
[35:56] Speaker 1: white tail.
[35:57] Speaker 3: Yeah, you can just see it on him.
[35:58] Speaker 4: What do you kill a big old bucker?
[35:59] Speaker 2: So well, before we get into that, buck, Clay, I
[36:02] Speaker 2: feel like I just said goodbye to you in a
[36:05] Speaker 2: hotel hallway at eleven PM in Dallas, Texas.
[36:10] Speaker 14: That happened. We embraced, we did.
[36:12] Speaker 2: I said I love you, brother, and then I gave
[36:15] Speaker 2: you a big hug and we parted ways. Clay, how
[36:18] Speaker 2: have you been? How you recovered from the tour yet?
[36:22] Speaker 3: Man?
[36:23] Speaker 14: The tour was so much fun.
[36:25] Speaker 13: I mean it was hard to recover from it because
[36:27] Speaker 13: like you come back and I mean I love everything
[36:31] Speaker 13: about where I live, but the tour is like seven
[36:37] Speaker 13: days of just a pure twenty four.
[36:40] Speaker 14: Hour day fun.
[36:41] Speaker 13: You know, we're with well, especially for me and Brent
[36:44] Speaker 13: who aren't in Montana and don't see a lot of people.
[36:48] Speaker 13: You know, we're kind of isolated to be with the crew,
[36:52] Speaker 13: to be with you and Steve and Jiannis and all
[36:55] Speaker 13: the other people that were there that weren't on stage.
[36:57] Speaker 14: Just a ton of fun.
[36:58] Speaker 13: And then you know, every night you're going to these
[37:02] Speaker 13: events where clearly it's stacked with people who are excited
[37:06] Speaker 13: to be there, excited about meat Eater.
[37:09] Speaker 14: And we had a great time.
[37:11] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I loved it.
[37:13] Speaker 2: And I think to your last point, you know, every
[37:16] Speaker 2: now and then people say like, oh, this must be
[37:20] Speaker 2: born for you doing the same thing every night. But
[37:22] Speaker 2: like it's actually very meaningful to hear from people that
[37:27] Speaker 2: they're excited about the stuff that we do, because like
[37:30] Speaker 2: right now we're sitting in this podcast studio and then
[37:34] Speaker 2: we'll go on.
[37:34] Speaker 3: About our day.
[37:35] Speaker 2: But it's really cool to go out there and meet
[37:36] Speaker 2: people and hear their stories of how they got into
[37:39] Speaker 2: hunting and sort of how meat Eater stuff fits into
[37:43] Speaker 2: their life or shape their experiences. So I really enjoyed that,
[37:47] Speaker 2: and it doesn't get old for me.
[37:48] Speaker 1: Clay was it was it hard having to play with
[37:51] Speaker 1: amateurs and hacks like Evan Felker to accompany you for
[37:55] Speaker 1: the opening song after having me accompany you for the
[37:59] Speaker 1: last tour.
[38:00] Speaker 13: Phil let me let me start off. I said, you
[38:03] Speaker 13: were greatly missed. Holy yeah I.
[38:07] Speaker 8: Was.
[38:09] Speaker 13: I was like, when I heard you weren't coming, I
[38:11] Speaker 13: was like, what, Phil's not coming? I mean Phil like
[38:15] Speaker 13: made you know, our music act last year with his harmonica.
[38:19] Speaker 14: Just unreal.
[38:20] Speaker 13: And then so there was no other musicians traveling with us,
[38:25] Speaker 13: and and so we did have h read bargaineer of
[38:31] Speaker 13: Reed's piano news. He was with me three nights.
[38:34] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[38:35] Speaker 1: I watched the videos of that, and he killed it.
[38:36] Speaker 1: I got I got little pangs of jealousy watching him
[38:39] Speaker 1: up there with you.
[38:39] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[38:39] Speaker 2: He's great, super fun guy. Great to finally meet him.
[38:43] Speaker 14: He saved the day. I mean, it was.
[38:45] Speaker 13: It's so hard for someone who doesn't play a lot
[38:48] Speaker 13: of live music or any to speak of, to just
[38:51] Speaker 13: step up six nights in a row in front of
[38:54] Speaker 13: a big.
[38:54] Speaker 14: Crowd and play. I mean, it is the challenge of
[38:56] Speaker 14: my life.
[38:57] Speaker 13: I tell people a lot of things that I do
[38:59] Speaker 13: at my age I'm comfortable with live music.
[39:03] Speaker 14: I love it.
[39:03] Speaker 13: It's like exhilarating, but I am not comfortable at all.
[39:08] Speaker 13: And so playing with Evan Felker, Holy cow, it was
[39:12] Speaker 13: like I was nervous as a cat. I actually almost
[39:17] Speaker 13: backed out at the because we'd never played together.
[39:21] Speaker 3: You know.
[39:22] Speaker 13: He gets there a little bit before the show, and
[39:23] Speaker 13: we start playing, and I recognize that my strum pattern
[39:27] Speaker 13: is different than the waltz of the bird Hunter. The
[39:31] Speaker 13: strum pattern of a of a of the bird Hunter
[39:34] Speaker 13: is different than me. And I'm not a good enough
[39:36] Speaker 13: musician to really just compensate on the fly and be like, oh, yeah,
[39:39] Speaker 13: I got it. And so I actually just said we
[39:43] Speaker 13: practiced one time, and I was like, Evan, man, these
[39:47] Speaker 13: people are they would love to see you play this.
[39:49] Speaker 13: Why don't you just play it by yourself? And so
[39:52] Speaker 13: we kind of decided that he was just going to open.
[39:54] Speaker 3: Up and then and then Steve got it.
[39:58] Speaker 13: Yeah yeah, and and you know, I appreciore what I mean,
[40:02] Speaker 13: I was kind of surprised, but yeah, Steve came in
[40:05] Speaker 13: and he was like already, and I'm like, man.
[40:06] Speaker 14: Evan's just gonna do it.
[40:08] Speaker 13: I said, I think I'm gonna mess the thing up
[40:10] Speaker 13: if I play with him, and Steve was like.
[40:12] Speaker 14: No way, you gotta get out there, man, you and
[40:14] Speaker 14: you and Evan got to play. And so oh, I'm
[40:17] Speaker 14: so glad I did.
[40:18] Speaker 2: Holy and that was And that was at the Fayetteville show,
[40:21] Speaker 2: which was kind of your your home crowd too, which
[40:24] Speaker 2: probably made it extra special.
[40:26] Speaker 14: Man, it was so special.
[40:28] Speaker 13: Of all the shows, I mean, there were the fail
[40:33] Speaker 13: the Fatal show sold out completely, and I mean they
[40:38] Speaker 13: were they were all great shows with great people.
[40:41] Speaker 14: So I don't I don't want to say it was
[40:43] Speaker 14: the best, but maybe.
[40:48] Speaker 3: The best.
[40:49] Speaker 14: Well, I mean, we had Evan Felker there for crying
[40:51] Speaker 14: out like.
[40:52] Speaker 2: It was a very warm reception from the the well,
[40:56] Speaker 2: the Newcomb clan welcomed us into their home for a
[40:59] Speaker 2: lovely lunch and then yeah, it was it was fun
[41:02] Speaker 2: that it just felt like an auditorium full of friends
[41:05] Speaker 2: and family.
[41:06] Speaker 13: Oh man, it was so meaningful that we came here
[41:08] Speaker 13: just to give back to the community.
[41:11] Speaker 14: You know.
[41:12] Speaker 13: I wish we could have let them all in for free,
[41:14] Speaker 13: you know. So it was a ton of fun, ton
[41:17] Speaker 13: of fun.
[41:18] Speaker 2: Yeah, Now, Clay, I could relive our our rock star days,
[41:22] Speaker 2: our rock star lifestyle, forever, as you know. But we
[41:27] Speaker 2: brought you here today because you have some very exciting
[41:30] Speaker 2: news in your life and folks haven't seen it on Instagram.
[41:34] Speaker 2: You got a big old buck just recently. Can you
[41:36] Speaker 2: tell us a little bit about that?
[41:38] Speaker 3: Man?
[41:39] Speaker 13: On on January the fourth, well, okay, Christmas Day, a
[41:44] Speaker 13: buck on a place that I have access to hunt
[41:49] Speaker 13: showed up and the but it was one of those
[41:52] Speaker 13: pictures that within seconds I was texting it to my
[41:57] Speaker 13: father in law, who I was staying close touch with
[41:59] Speaker 13: about deer hunting a couple other people and was just gagging.
[42:03] Speaker 14: Over this deer.
[42:04] Speaker 13: I mean, it's the biggest deer that I've seen on
[42:06] Speaker 13: camera in a long long time. And uh, I texted
[42:09] Speaker 13: it to one of my friends who happens to be
[42:11] Speaker 13: a Navy pilot stationed in Hawaiian named Forrest Teeter, and
[42:15] Speaker 13: he goes, Jimmy Christmas.
[42:17] Speaker 14: You know, it was Christmas night. I texted him and
[42:21] Speaker 14: h and I was like, this buck will be named
[42:23] Speaker 14: Jimmy Christmas.
[42:25] Speaker 3: That's cool.
[42:26] Speaker 13: And the deer just had giant tying length and uh,
[42:32] Speaker 13: he was super sporadic. I mean I'm hunting over in
[42:35] Speaker 13: the state. Well, I killed the deer in Oklahoma. I
[42:38] Speaker 13: didn't just like anybody that knows anything about this part
[42:42] Speaker 13: of the world would know that, because I said that,
[42:44] Speaker 13: I killed it over supplemental feed and some feeding a
[42:47] Speaker 13: little bit. And this deer was very sporadic, and it's
[42:52] Speaker 13: very difficult to kill a big deer, a specific big deer.
[42:56] Speaker 14: Over any kind of supplemental feed.
[42:57] Speaker 13: I don't I don't care who you are, and it's
[43:00] Speaker 13: a ton of fun. But this deer was super sporadic,
[43:03] Speaker 13: came in the daytime just a couple of times, had
[43:06] Speaker 13: some time, which was rare, and I was able to
[43:09] Speaker 13: hunt four and a half days and finally on January
[43:14] Speaker 13: the fourth, I don't.
[43:15] Speaker 14: Think he'll fit in the frame of my camera. My
[43:18] Speaker 14: camera's not big enough. I'm gonna have to back up
[43:20] Speaker 14: a little bit.
[43:21] Speaker 3: Only smokes. Oh, it almost touches in the middle.
[43:26] Speaker 4: Looks like a mule deer.
[43:28] Speaker 13: But UH killed that deer, unbelieved twenty two yards with
[43:34] Speaker 13: bow and the characteristics of the rack. I mean, I'm
[43:38] Speaker 13: an official Boon and crocket scorer, so I mean I
[43:41] Speaker 13: I truly.
[43:43] Speaker 9: Value a beautiful.
[43:45] Speaker 14: This deer is only fourteen and a half inches.
[43:47] Speaker 13: Wide, narrow buck, but he has a G two that's
[43:52] Speaker 13: fourteen and six eight inches long.
[43:54] Speaker 14: Wow, I mean that's awesome, just when.
[43:58] Speaker 13: You're analyzing the white tails rack. I mean that there's
[44:02] Speaker 13: there's a very few deer that have a time over
[44:05] Speaker 13: fourteen inches, you know, So I mean just a just
[44:08] Speaker 13: a stud man. And yeah, he's got a split split
[44:12] Speaker 13: G two And oh, I mean I still can't believe
[44:16] Speaker 13: I killed that deer.
[44:17] Speaker 14: I'm still on cloud nine.
[44:19] Speaker 3: Very cool, very cool.
[44:21] Speaker 14: Deer fell.
[44:21] Speaker 13: You see the photo up there right now, Yeah, deer
[44:24] Speaker 13: fell right there, like right.
[44:26] Speaker 14: I didn't move that deer.
[44:27] Speaker 13: I just I just kind of re situated him about
[44:30] Speaker 13: six inches, fell right at the base of this big
[44:33] Speaker 13: rocky bluff.
[44:34] Speaker 3: Very cool.
[44:35] Speaker 14: Just a phenomenal deal man.
[44:38] Speaker 3: Yeah, he does.
[44:39] Speaker 2: Like if I glanced at that photo and I just
[44:42] Speaker 2: the only thing I looked at was where his antler
[44:44] Speaker 2: tips are and where the top of his head are,
[44:45] Speaker 2: I'd guess it's some mule deer.
[44:47] Speaker 3: Yeah you're just so tall.
[44:49] Speaker 4: Yeah, Yeah, he's just a dandy.
[44:51] Speaker 3: Why is that your biggest buck? You know what?
[44:54] Speaker 14: I would have swore that it was.
[44:56] Speaker 13: I mean I actually sent pictures to people, was like,
[45:00] Speaker 13: this is my biggest buck.
[45:01] Speaker 14: But when wet.
[45:02] Speaker 13: When we scored it, it wasn't, which that's a good
[45:05] Speaker 13: thing when you had a deer from years ago that
[45:08] Speaker 13: was bigger. The deer scored one sixty two and seven eights. Wow,
[45:14] Speaker 13: and so and I I killed a deer years ago
[45:17] Speaker 13: a little bigger than that, but it's definitely the biggest
[45:22] Speaker 13: deer I've killed in eighteen years.
[45:24] Speaker 14: You know.
[45:24] Speaker 2: Well, it looks like you were tent camping there too,
[45:27] Speaker 2: which I always think. I always think, if you want
[45:30] Speaker 2: to crank it up to like eleven on making a
[45:33] Speaker 2: hunt memorable, you sleep in a tent.
[45:37] Speaker 13: Man the place I'm hunting over there as so cool
[45:40] Speaker 13: because I mean there's no there's nowhere to stay. We
[45:45] Speaker 13: tent we tent camp.
[45:46] Speaker 3: We'll go over there. Very cool.
[45:48] Speaker 14: Yeah, that's all awesome.
[45:50] Speaker 13: And I was really by myself. I was just hunting.
[45:54] Speaker 13: That was kind of a unique experience. Usually there's somebody
[45:58] Speaker 13: that I'm hunting with or or I'm able to bring.
[46:00] Speaker 14: A deer home, yeah, share it with the family.
[46:03] Speaker 13: Uh, it was kind of I mean I was solo
[46:06] Speaker 13: camping the whole time, which which was unique and uh,
[46:11] Speaker 13: but when I did kill the deer there, I did
[46:14] Speaker 13: have a buddy over in that part of the world.
[46:17] Speaker 13: Alvin a good friend of mine that came and helped
[46:19] Speaker 13: me drag it out and kind of celebrated with me.
[46:22] Speaker 3: So that was very cool.
[46:25] Speaker 2: And uh, your son Bear also killed a real nice
[46:29] Speaker 2: buck this fall, so you were telling us earlier. He
[46:33] Speaker 2: got to be the sort of the big big man
[46:36] Speaker 2: on the block for about six weeks.
[46:39] Speaker 14: Yeah. Yeah, it's funny that, you know, when it rains,
[46:42] Speaker 14: it pours.
[46:43] Speaker 3: Yeah, no, it was.
[46:45] Speaker 13: It was Bear killed a deer that scored one fifty
[46:48] Speaker 13: four and I was here in Arkansas, which is major.
[46:52] Speaker 14: I mean, you know, like a.
[46:55] Speaker 13: I would say, a once in a lifetime type deer
[46:57] Speaker 13: for here. I mean, they they grow him bigger and
[46:59] Speaker 13: I figure he'll kill bigger one one day here, but
[47:02] Speaker 13: monster deer, and uh yeah, I couldn't let him stay
[47:05] Speaker 13: on top.
[47:06] Speaker 14: For long, you know.
[47:12] Speaker 13: Uh no, I almost wished it scored one fifty three,
[47:15] Speaker 13: but he didn't care.
[47:16] Speaker 14: We were not competitive like that.
[47:18] Speaker 13: He was so excited that this year, and I was
[47:22] Speaker 13: so excited for his deer.
[47:23] Speaker 3: So well, it's great.
[47:25] Speaker 2: Yeah, Clay, we appreciate you joining us, and you guys
[47:29] Speaker 2: must be doing something right over there. You got it's
[47:32] Speaker 2: been been a good fall for you guys. So, uh,
[47:36] Speaker 2: you have anything else lined up? Or is that your
[47:38] Speaker 2: last tag for the season.
[47:40] Speaker 14: Well, we're actually going back over there.
[47:45] Speaker 3: Too.
[47:45] Speaker 13: I'm gonna try to kill a dough and maybe a hog.
[47:49] Speaker 13: We're gonna we're gonna go back over there in the.
[47:51] Speaker 14: Next couple of days. Got a buck tag.
[47:53] Speaker 3: Very cool, so cool.
[47:55] Speaker 2: Good luck man, Yeah, Well, good luck to Clay. It's
[47:58] Speaker 2: always a real pleasure to see you. And uh, hopefully

[48:07] Speaker 3: Still good seeing you, Clay. Good luck over there.
[48:10] Speaker 4: Take care of that hair brother.
[48:12] Speaker 14: All right, takes a lot more work than you think
[48:15] Speaker 14: for Clay.
[48:17] Speaker 2: We can share some styling tips next time you're in town.
[48:20] Speaker 14: Next time I need some tips for you.
[48:22] Speaker 3: Randall.
[48:23] Speaker 2: You're getting there, man, it looks good. It's real good.
[48:26] Speaker 4: Called a haircut.
[48:31] Speaker 14: I told you.
[48:32] Speaker 13: My sign off comment will be I told Brent Reeves
[48:35] Speaker 13: that I'll get a haircut as soon as he starts
[48:38] Speaker 13: hunting a plot coon hound.
[48:41] Speaker 2: Well, based on the conversations that I listened to over
[48:43] Speaker 2: on the bus, that's not happening anytime soon, So.
[48:47] Speaker 3: You better get yourself some hair ties. Clay, you're just.
[48:50] Speaker 14: Gonna have to be embarrassed of your friend for a while.
[48:54] Speaker 3: All right, we'll see you, Clay. Thank you again.
[48:58] Speaker 2: Gosh, I love that guy.
[49:00] Speaker 3: Oh he's the best. It's a gem. I almost feel
[49:04] Speaker 3: like we should just end the show there.
[49:06] Speaker 2: But we've got another great segment we're Our next segment is.
[49:10] Speaker 7: The Price is Right.
[49:13] Speaker 1: He It comes from Bozeman, Montana Media Radio's most exciting
[49:19] Speaker 1: fifteen minutes.
[49:20] Speaker 7: It's the Prices Right Seth Morris, come on down, Calkins.
[49:31] Speaker 1: You're the first two and only contestants on the.

[49:46] Speaker 2: Phil's gonna tell you about a product from the vat
[49:48] Speaker 2: Eater universe, and you need to guess its price. The
[49:51] Speaker 2: player with the closest answer without going over will be
[49:54] Speaker 2: declared the winner. If both players go over, you'll both
[49:58] Speaker 2: be told to try again, and the chat should play
[50:00] Speaker 2: along as well, because whoever has the closed answer is
[50:03] Speaker 2: gonna get a real, real nice shout out from Phil.
[50:07] Speaker 3: All Right, we've.
[50:08] Speaker 2: Got three exciting products for today's show. Phil, why don't
[50:12] Speaker 2: you tell us about the first item up forbid.
[50:16] Speaker 3: Clay's boss. Unfortunately not.
[50:19] Speaker 1: It's never too early to start planning next year's holiday surprise.
[50:23] Speaker 3: What is that? And what better way to.
[50:25] Speaker 1: Tell your loved ones exactly how you really feel about
[50:27] Speaker 1: them than with a genuine deer scrotum Christmas ornament. That's right,
[50:32] Speaker 1: actual deer balls. A pair of genuine buck nuggets that
[50:36] Speaker 1: have been meticulously preserved and transformed into tasteful holiday decor
[50:40] Speaker 1: comes ready to hang just like it did between the
[50:43] Speaker 1: rear legs of a big old Arkansas white tail. Perfect
[50:45] Speaker 1: for the outdoorsman who appreciates that every part of the
[50:48] Speaker 1: deer deserves honor, including especially Bambi's family jewels. This gives
[50:53] Speaker 1: the old adage waste not want not a whole new meaning.
[50:58] Speaker 3: Deck the halls with buff ball.
[51:00] Speaker 2: How much does it get to cost to hang a
[51:02] Speaker 2: pair of buck nuts on your tree?
[51:03] Speaker 4: Get one set of nuts like one scrowed them?
[51:06] Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's just per scrote You'll get a
[51:09] Speaker 2: pair in.
[51:10] Speaker 3: The in the satchel.
[51:11] Speaker 5: That's brilliant, really yeah, and then after Christmas you can
[51:14] Speaker 5: hang him from the back of your truck afterwards.
[51:16] Speaker 2: I'll share this, uh, I'll share this guy's contact info. Okay, yeah,
[51:20] Speaker 2: with these marketing them on Facebook Facebook?
[51:23] Speaker 3: Huh a uh helps me?
[51:26] Speaker 6: No?
[51:28] Speaker 3: Arkansas? Oh really? Yeah?
[51:31] Speaker 2: Yeah, I was looking for weird stuff on Facebook marketplace.
[51:34] Speaker 2: They said, why don't we begin in Arkansas?
[51:36] Speaker 3: I wonder where he gets all his buckscrows at? I
[51:39] Speaker 3: don't know. The Nuke family could probably help him with
[51:41] Speaker 3: a few. Yeah, that's true.
[51:43] Speaker 4: Man down south?
[51:45] Speaker 3: Are you still thinking?
[51:46] Speaker 4: I guess I'm done thinking for the day.
[51:48] Speaker 2: Alrighty, Seth, your answer is thirty seven fifty Wow, Corey,
[51:57] Speaker 2: your answer was I don't know nine.
[52:00] Speaker 3: Oh wow, wildly different. Phil, Well, the actual price of
[52:06] Speaker 3: the item without.
[52:07] Speaker 2: God, Well, I didn't write down the price of myself,
[52:09] Speaker 2: so I'm gonna rely on you to judge this.
[52:11] Speaker 1: The price of the ornament is thirty dollars, making Corey
[52:15] Speaker 1: our winner.
[52:15] Speaker 3: Of the round.
[52:16] Speaker 1: If we're going with the rules of this game show,
[52:19] Speaker 1: yeah we should.
[52:19] Speaker 3: You can't bust.
[52:24] Speaker 7: Phil who's closest to the chat there.
[52:27] Speaker 3: We had a couple of people here.
[52:28] Speaker 1: We had pop A medic guests twenty nine to ninety nine,
[52:31] Speaker 1: Absolute Mechanical Solutions guests twenty nine. I love that might
[52:34] Speaker 1: have been a couple more in there as well.
[52:35] Speaker 3: Oh love that, Love that Phil. What's next?
[52:38] Speaker 9: What's next?
[52:39] Speaker 3: Up?
[52:39] Speaker 7: Frouction?
[52:40] Speaker 3: Today? Forgot? You can't go over?
[52:45] Speaker 1: Let's see, it's a full case of docs catfish dip bait,
[52:48] Speaker 1: extra stiff blood added. That's four glorious gallons of the
[52:52] Speaker 1: most ungodly smelling substance known to mankind. We're talking about
[52:55] Speaker 1: a concoction so pungent, so magnificently revolting that it makes
[53:00] Speaker 1: the boat launch vault toilet smell like a Yankee candle.
[53:03] Speaker 1: And not only is this stuff strong, it's got stayin power.
[53:06] Speaker 1: Your wife will make you sleep in the garage. This
[53:08] Speaker 1: will permanently decrease the resale value of your truck. Your
[53:11] Speaker 1: neighbors will call the hoa thinking something died in your yard,
[53:14] Speaker 1: and they're not wrong, because something did die and Dot
[53:17] Speaker 1: cooked it into catfish crack cocaine. Four gallons means you'll
[53:20] Speaker 1: have enough to stink up every river in the county.
[53:22] Speaker 1: Ducks catfish dip bait. I'm gonna restart there. Ducks catfish
[53:28] Speaker 1: dip bait because of catching old mister whiskers means smelling
[53:31] Speaker 1: like you crawled out of a swamp monster's colon.
[53:34] Speaker 7: Then By god, you better be all in.
[53:38] Speaker 6: Now.
[53:39] Speaker 2: I'm seeing some guesses in the chat here, and I
[53:41] Speaker 2: want to reiterate a point in that reath.
[53:43] Speaker 7: This is four gallons. Hey, I saw twelve ounces.
[53:46] Speaker 3: Oh yeah, picture, Yeah, this is fourals. Yeah you see that.
[53:51] Speaker 3: You see that little thing.
[53:52] Speaker 2: You think you're not getting a lot of stink, but
[53:54] Speaker 2: we're talking about four gallons.
[53:55] Speaker 3: That's a full case. So think about how much.
[53:57] Speaker 2: A gallon of stink bait would cost and then multiply
[54:01] Speaker 2: it by four.
[54:02] Speaker 4: That's been a serious angler, isn't there.
[54:04] Speaker 1: We had our producer Jake chime in in the chat
[54:06] Speaker 1: and say, waste nut, wanting nut.
[54:11] Speaker 3: Solid Jake very Oh that's good, that's good man.
[54:15] Speaker 4: What does the cost? Yeah, careful, don't go over.
[54:25] Speaker 2: I mean the price of everything's going up these days. Yeah,
[54:28] Speaker 2: looks like I think eddy stink bits no exception.
[54:32] Speaker 4: I think you're trying to help them.
[54:34] Speaker 2: They make a worm ulce you're dunk in and then
[54:36] Speaker 2: the the scent milks off the worm.
[54:39] Speaker 4: Wow, I you need to get some of these.
[54:41] Speaker 2: You guys got your answers there, Yeah, let's roll. Seth
[54:45] Speaker 2: Morris sixty five dollars, Corey Culkins is seventy five dollars.
[54:51] Speaker 1: Oh well, with a price of one hundred and eighty
[54:54] Speaker 1: seven dollars. Our winner again is Corey Coulkin's.
[54:59] Speaker 6: Dang.
[55:00] Speaker 2: We could end it there with the Seth Morris or
[55:03] Speaker 2: Coreykalkin's victory, But Phil, we've got one more prize.
[55:09] Speaker 3: We sure do, Randall.
[55:10] Speaker 1: It's portable heating hunting seat, tree stand hunting heating seat,
[55:14] Speaker 1: USB comfort foldable heating seat from Timu. That's right, the
[55:18] Speaker 1: same company that brings you three dollar electronics and designer
[55:21] Speaker 1: handbags held together by prayers and glue is now in
[55:24] Speaker 1: the business of putting lithium batteries directly beneath your most
[55:27] Speaker 1: precious ass ets. Why suffer through cold mornings in your
[55:31] Speaker 1: tree stand with non incendiary insulation when you could be
[55:34] Speaker 1: sitting on a potentially combustible device manufactured by the lowest bidder.
[55:37] Speaker 1: Just crank this bad boy up to its high setting
[55:40] Speaker 1: of one hundred and forty nine degrees fahrenheiten see what happens.
[55:43] Speaker 1: Features include a battery pack of mysterious origin, heating elements
[55:47] Speaker 1: that could legally be used in residential construction, and instructions
[55:50] Speaker 1: that have been jammed through a free translation app. If
[55:52] Speaker 1: you've ever driven past a burnt up mobile home and
[55:54] Speaker 1: thought that would make a hell of a deer blind?
[55:56] Speaker 1: Your dreams are one trans Pacific shipping container away from reality.
[56:01] Speaker 1: That was rand were all good?
[56:04] Speaker 3: That was my favorite?
[56:06] Speaker 7: Who wrote that?
[56:07] Speaker 4: Is this all Randall? Yeah?
[56:09] Speaker 2: Bill, you're I've been shopping on tm a lot. There's
[56:12] Speaker 2: Team Wu's got excavators for sale.
[56:13] Speaker 4: I'm really interested in now they sell everything.
[56:16] Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, oh yeah, they're really.
[56:17] Speaker 4: Trying hard on the social media. Wow, so this has
[56:20] Speaker 4: gotta be dirt cheap.
[56:23] Speaker 2: I like how ordinarily, you know, you see heat represented
[56:28] Speaker 2: by like wavy red lines, but in that one they
[56:32] Speaker 2: have orange arrows that look like flames.
[56:37] Speaker 3: I forgot to mention.
[56:38] Speaker 1: The person in the chat who got it closest was
[56:41] Speaker 1: Ja Palermo eighty four. I think that was the closest
[56:45] Speaker 1: without going over but not positive.
[56:47] Speaker 3: That's a catch.
[56:49] Speaker 2: Did did we say old mister whiskers in that caffish bait?
[56:54] Speaker 3: Read? Yes we did? Okay, good, I wanted to put that.
[56:57] Speaker 4: And this is the price on Timu.
[56:59] Speaker 2: This is a price on the TMU price yep.
[57:02] Speaker 4: Okay, it's gonna be cheap.
[57:06] Speaker 3: Oh it is.
[57:08] Speaker 6: It's an electronic you know, okay Withian batteries too scary.
[57:15] Speaker 2: You guys ready, yep, flip them over. Cory says eleven dollars.
[57:19] Speaker 2: Set says one dollar. That's the Tamu man. But unfortunately,
[57:27] Speaker 2: with a.
[57:27] Speaker 1: Clean sweep and a price of eighteen dollars and forty cents,
[57:31] Speaker 1: our winner today is Corey Kalkin.
[57:35] Speaker 2: I know where your head was at, and I think
[57:37] Speaker 2: that was the smart approach.
[57:38] Speaker 3: I was hoping cor was gonna go over.
[57:39] Speaker 4: We'll have a sale soon.
[57:41] Speaker 3: Phil, Do we have a Do we have anyone nailed
[57:43] Speaker 3: at in the chat?
[57:43] Speaker 1: We had a couple of people guess, I guess seventeen
[57:45] Speaker 1: ninety nine, there might have been.
[57:47] Speaker 3: I think it was probably the closest without going over.
[57:49] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, well, gosh, that's fun.
[57:53] Speaker 3: I wish.
[57:53] Speaker 2: I wish my entire job here was just finding weird
[57:58] Speaker 2: stuff on the internet and writing weird stuff about it.
[58:02] Speaker 2: But unfortunately there's other things they require me to do.
[58:06] Speaker 2: That brings us to the end of the show. But
[58:10] Speaker 2: we have some time for a little more listener feedback.
[58:13] Speaker 2: If folks managed to get any questions.
[58:15] Speaker 1: We do, yeah, yeah, feel free to I don't have
[58:18] Speaker 1: a whole lot flagged right now. Also, get some questions
[58:20] Speaker 1: in and no matter how terrible and a name they are,
[58:24] Speaker 1: they might get read on the show. Let's see Jake said, Phil,
[58:28] Speaker 1: was it you that said on Trivia yesterday that you
[58:30] Speaker 1: didn't like vinegar barbecue sauce? I would never say that
[58:33] Speaker 1: because vinegar forward barbecue sauce is my favorite. I love
[58:36] Speaker 1: that tang. Give me the tang like tang over sweet.
[58:40] Speaker 1: I don't remember who said that, but someone was really
[58:42] Speaker 1: pushing ketchup? Is that seth?
[58:44] Speaker 5: No?
[58:44] Speaker 3: I like? I'm with you, Phil, Okay, I like.
[58:46] Speaker 2: It all right on the only thing I don't really
[58:49] Speaker 2: like that much is Alabama white barbecue sauce. Oh, it's
[58:55] Speaker 2: not like an everyday.
[58:56] Speaker 3: Thing for me, but every nap sauce? Is that like
[58:58] Speaker 3: another a couple times a year.
[59:00] Speaker 2: I'll eat like a half chicken with that, but it's
[59:03] Speaker 2: not like a staple of the pantry.
[59:04] Speaker 1: I agree, U Shanaya sas. My husband and I love
[59:08] Speaker 1: watching your guys at Trivia show. We are currently headed
[59:10] Speaker 1: to Colorado from Wisconsin to hum buffalo with a suppressor. Great,
[59:13] Speaker 1: what's your favorite thing to make with buffalo?
[59:16] Speaker 3: Mmm?
[59:18] Speaker 1: Randall, you've got some recent experience in this.
[59:20] Speaker 2: Well, the short answer is everything.
[59:26] Speaker 3: The pooey.
[59:27] Speaker 2: We My least favorite thing to eat is tapooy.
[59:32] Speaker 3: Man.
[59:33] Speaker 2: I think the first thing we made with the buffalo
[59:35] Speaker 2: was we did uh we made some tartar with the
[59:41] Speaker 2: with the heart, and then uh, yeah, I mean burgers.
[59:49] Speaker 3: We've eaten a lot of burgers.
[59:50] Speaker 2: We eat a lot of steaks, we eat a lot
[59:51] Speaker 2: of roasts, we eat a lot of I've been making
[59:54] Speaker 2: good beef stew, like any beef stew recipe. I'm doing
[59:59] Speaker 2: a lot of stewks barments with some of the larger roasts.
[1:00:02] Speaker 2: But you're not gonna unless you shoot like an old, old, old,
[1:00:07] Speaker 2: ancient animal. We shot a Sydney shot of one and
[1:00:11] Speaker 2: a half year old, and man, there hasn't been a
[1:00:14] Speaker 2: bite off that buffalo that I haven't enjoyed.
[1:00:17] Speaker 5: Thoughts, I'm sure you can't go wrong with any of it, Yeah,
[1:00:20] Speaker 5: depending on how old it is.
[1:00:23] Speaker 6: Yeah, we basically do anything with it that you know
[1:00:26] Speaker 6: you would do with any other red meat animal exactly.
[1:00:30] Speaker 2: I mean, it's it's a pretty I wouldn't say it's
[1:00:33] Speaker 2: a close substitute to beef, but we just sort of
[1:00:35] Speaker 2: treat it like the closest thing to beef that you
[1:00:38] Speaker 2: get from a game animal and man, we haven't gone
[1:00:41] Speaker 2: wrong with anything.
[1:00:41] Speaker 3: Yeah. Nice.
[1:00:42] Speaker 4: The heart's usually my favorite part, and I can only
[1:00:44] Speaker 4: imagine this.
[1:00:45] Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a big boy pick.
[1:00:46] Speaker 2: It's a big boy enjoy that. Good luck on that hunt. Yeah,
[1:00:50] Speaker 2: I wish I was hunting buffalo right now.
[1:00:52] Speaker 1: Seth says, shout out to Seth and his wife Kelsey.
[1:00:55] Speaker 1: My name is Seth and my wife's name is also Kelsey.
[1:00:57] Speaker 1: Whoa you guy should meet up and grab lunch somewhere. Yeah,
[1:01:02] Speaker 1: we had Mogor ask about how my production of the
[1:01:04] Speaker 1: Christmas Carol and it went very well.
[1:01:06] Speaker 3: Mogor, it was great. Oh yeah, it was fun.
[1:01:10] Speaker 1: Let's see, we've got more demand for meat theater from Colby.
[1:01:15] Speaker 1: We'll see about that.
[1:01:17] Speaker 3: Yeah, that is a good idea. I'm going to write
[1:01:19] Speaker 3: that down Meat Theater. We've got the meat theater crew
[1:01:22] Speaker 3: in here right now.
[1:01:24] Speaker 9: We should have done it.
[1:01:26] Speaker 3: Dang, we'll do it again. We'll do it again. Sorry,
[1:01:28] Speaker 3: we should do it.
[1:01:29] Speaker 2: We should do it to Yannis without telling him that
[1:01:31] Speaker 2: we're going to do it.
[1:01:32] Speaker 3: Oh yeah, he would hate me, oh yeah, so much.
[1:01:35] Speaker 1: You'd get that his face would turn red and you
[1:01:36] Speaker 1: get that permanent grin he gets when he's uncomfortable.
[1:01:39] Speaker 6: You'd have to do a thing that This camera just

[1:02:08] Speaker 2: in the late seventies as the franchise fell apart after
[1:02:11] Speaker 2: Bill Walton left once they won the title. After that,
[1:02:14] Speaker 2: I read a book called Ends of the Earth by
[1:02:16] Speaker 2: Neil Shubin, who's an arctic researchertic I should say, a
[1:02:21] Speaker 2: polar researcher. A lot of it's about Antarctica as well,

[1:02:28] Speaker 2: do you think the elevation of the South Pole is?
[1:02:30] Speaker 3: Hmmm, probably higher than what we think many And how
[1:02:34] Speaker 3: high do you think it is? Antarctica is massive. It's
[1:02:38] Speaker 3: over nine thousand feet. Isn't that wild? I just pictured
[1:02:41] Speaker 3: the whole thing being a few feet above sea level.
[1:02:44] Speaker 2: Oh, you gotta read this book, and then after after
[1:02:49] Speaker 2: I finished that. As I was just telling Phil the

[1:03:26] Speaker 5: the to the West coast, just kind of their what
[1:03:29] Speaker 5: they saw as far as animals and plants and what
[1:03:32] Speaker 5: they jotted down because mister Thomas Jefferson, that was one
[1:03:35] Speaker 5: of his major goals was for those guys to jot
[1:03:38] Speaker 5: down a lot of the fauna and flowers that they
[1:03:42] Speaker 5: saw along the way.
[1:03:43] Speaker 2: I don't think you can this is going to be
[1:03:46] Speaker 2: a gross overstatement.

[1:03:49] Speaker 3: That's true.
[1:03:49] Speaker 2: I find Lewis and Clark the whole everything about it
[1:03:52] Speaker 2: to be endlessly fascinating, to have like such a unique
[1:03:56] Speaker 2: moment in time, and then to have it so thoroughly documented.
[1:04:00] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, very cool.
