With War for the Planet of the Apes we got the conclusion of the Caesar storyline. We're now in a full on primate/human conflict with Caesar seeking revenge for the death of his wife and son against Woody Harrelson's Colonel J. Wesley McCullough. On top of that we have the evolution of a virus that renders humans mute leading up to where we were in the original 1968 movie.
