"It's kind of chic to never let a man see your body." "Woke up one day and decided to never let a man see my hair again." In this episode of LIZ YAPS, we're discussing the trend where muslim creators rebrand hyper-modesty as a flex. Hosted from an ex-revert perspective, we unpack why slapping an aesthetic onto religious compliance is lowkey a cope sis—and why hiding your body under threat of social and divine pressure can never be "chic." Liz Yaps: Hi everyone, it's Liz Yaps, and today we're going to be talking about if Islamic modesty can be chic. We're gonna talk about what exactly it is. We're going to talk about hijab, conditions of hijab, tabarruj haya, all of these things, including a look into the religious text And some reactions to different videos and different comments. So we're gonna talk a little bit about everything, okay? in honor of our subject today, I have my Haram hair extensions, I have the Tabarruj colors, I have the makeup, I have the jewelry, my adornments are showing, including tattoos, which are sometimes considered adorments. And you can't see it, but I'm covered in glitter. Tabarruj Queen. So, first of all, we need to see exactly where this started. I'm gonna show you, as well as the ensuing back and forth, so we can discuss that. The video that started it all. So this was the first video, and then of course the copycats came because it started a little bit of a war. between the Muslim women versus the non-Muslim women, the feminist versus the Muslim women, the uncovered Muslim women, I hate to use that terminology, versus the covered Muslim women, and it just kind of spiraled from there. So we have another one. It is chic. To not let a man see your body. Mm it is. Okay, Queen. And then kinda chic to not let a man see your body. And then we have the caption, they mad, everybody, and they mama mad. I have this weird thing where I hate when people do the consonants are the ones that they repeat. you're supposed to repeat the vowels because that's the one you can drag out. I can't say they yah, mad da-da-da-da-da-da-da. No, it's supposed to be like they mad, everybody and they mama mad. You do you know okay, I'm getting off topic. I'm sorry. And this is the thing that bothers me about this community is that they tend to see any critique as, everybody's mad, everybody hates us, we're the victims, or everybody's jealous of us. It's kind of this way that they diminish people's arguments,
