[0:04] Speaker 1: Welcome to NFL Daily, where we will not be making
[0:07] Speaker 1: jokes about Jakobe Brissett's hold out. I'm Greg Rosenthal. It's voluntary.
[0:12] Speaker 1: You know it's not voluntary. What's that Greg attendance in
[0:16] Speaker 1: the Chris Wesley podcast studio on this Tuesday, Patrick committed
[0:20] Speaker 1: to it.
[0:22] Speaker 2: I made him come, and I'm making him drop talk
[0:25] Speaker 2: about one underrated player.
[0:28] Speaker 1: On a every AFC team. I was hoping nobody noticed it.
[0:31] Speaker 3: Yeah, I can't help. I am glad to be here
[0:35] Speaker 3: with you, Greg, to celebrate this moment together. And when
[0:40] Speaker 3: I first got the assignment, I'm like, One, I get
[0:42] Speaker 3: to do the podcast again, which is always great for me. Two,
[0:46] Speaker 3: I get to celebrate some guys who are the official
[0:50] Speaker 3: Raiders have a little bit low right.
[0:52] Speaker 2: It's a it's a tricky exercise.
[0:54] Speaker 1: You got to figure out how highly is the person
[0:57] Speaker 1: rated before you react whether they make the list. But
[1:01] Speaker 1: before that, we'll do a little bit of news, not
[1:03] Speaker 1: a ton. But I mentioned to Koby Brissett, so we
[1:05] Speaker 1: might as well just start there. He's not at the
[1:07] Speaker 1: start of OTAs despite being told. And this is a
[1:11] Speaker 1: new development in the story. Just on Tuesday, according to
[1:15] Speaker 1: ESPN that he is the presumptive starter that the plan
[1:20] Speaker 1: is to start Jacoby Brissett, but he's not there working out.
[1:24] Speaker 1: And one thing I've just noticed online I'm still too
[1:28] Speaker 1: Online a lot of people like, oh, who do you
[1:32] Speaker 1: think you are? Bridge quarterbacks now like getting too big
[1:35] Speaker 1: for their bridges and skipping like voluntary work.
[1:38] Speaker 3: Calm down, I'm going to just drop some ads there,
[1:41] Speaker 3: because who are the people saying this still jokes? Like
[1:44] Speaker 3: how many times? How many times have they set behind
[1:46] Speaker 3: somebody that they.
[1:48] Speaker 1: Famously to you and to the people behind the US.
[1:51] Speaker 1: Forgot my computer today, so I can't look up exactly
[1:54] Speaker 1: where I saw it, but I've just seen it. Calm down, people, Look,
[1:57] Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers or Malik Willis are the two lowest paid
[2:02] Speaker 1: week one starting quarterbacks on a veteran contract. They're making
[2:05] Speaker 1: around twenty two to twenty three million. Jacoby is set
[2:08] Speaker 1: for about five. I think it's perfectly reasonable for him
[2:11] Speaker 1: to negotiate, Yeah, something considerably more than five. If I
[2:14] Speaker 1: had to guess, it's gonna be like twelve. I think
[2:17] Speaker 1: that's about where where it'll But.
[2:19] Speaker 3: Why even entertain the exercise? Just paye to Kobe? Right?
[2:23] Speaker 2: Well, they are they're figuring it out. But it's the card.
[2:26] Speaker 3: There's no figuring it out the garden like all across
[2:29] Speaker 3: the world, there's all this Well, we have to have
[2:31] Speaker 3: these conversations. You know, at the proper time, you would
[2:33] Speaker 3: like to pay that to the end of it as
[2:34] Speaker 3: little as possible. Yeah, and right now is not the
[2:37] Speaker 3: time that's conducive to do that.
[2:39] Speaker 1: Right Also, Micha Lafleur spoke on it and he said, look,
[2:43] Speaker 1: Jacoby's been in a million offices, he's been in this offense.
[2:46] Speaker 2: He's not going to fall behind it. It's not a
[2:48] Speaker 2: big deal.
[2:48] Speaker 1: They're in shorts, it's very early, but they are on
[2:52] Speaker 1: the field. The bigger news to me was that they
[2:54] Speaker 1: have told him that he is the presumptive starter. It's
[2:57] Speaker 1: not going to be Gardner Minshew. If we're to believe
[2:59] Speaker 1: that report, and it's not going to be God, yeah,
[3:03] Speaker 1: I don't know.
[3:05] Speaker 3: Or deity of choice.
[3:06] Speaker 1: To everybody listening, they're talking a lot about I third
[3:10] Speaker 1: round pick, Carson Beck. I mean, if I had to guess,
[3:13] Speaker 1: Carson Beck will start a game this year. Right before
[3:16] Speaker 1: we started taping, got the news that Rashi Rice is
[3:22] Speaker 1: currently in jail after violating his probation for a marijuana
[3:31] Speaker 1: test that came up positive. Initially reported by ks HB
[3:37] Speaker 1: and by Matt Foster, but a couple other places have it.
[3:41] Speaker 2: It's a public report, so it's a rule.
[3:45] Speaker 1: I believe it's in Texas that you get thirty days
[3:48] Speaker 1: for violating your probation. According to the document that we saw,
[3:52] Speaker 1: that would have him getting out in mid June, around
[3:57] Speaker 1: the end of the Ota CS And unfortunately for Rice,
[4:02] Speaker 1: it does just continue a series of off field stories
[4:09] Speaker 1: where we're talking about, you know, what Rice is doing
[4:11] Speaker 1: and how that impacts them in terms of a lot
[4:14] Speaker 1: and in this case, it's going to impact them in
[4:15] Speaker 1: terms of missing the off season program before training camp.
[4:18] Speaker 3: Yeah, the obviously the priority is going to be the
[4:20] Speaker 3: hit and run and how you approach that situation in
[4:24] Speaker 3: terms of putting people in harm's way. You know, this
[4:28] Speaker 3: particular test which is mandatory as a part of Texas
[4:32] Speaker 3: probation for a substance that you know, in a lot
[4:35] Speaker 3: of places it's perfectly legal and m and you know
[4:38] Speaker 3: a lot of professionals indicate that it hasn't necessarily harmed
[4:41] Speaker 3: people to the extent that the substances that Rashi Rice
[4:45] Speaker 3: was on during the accident allegedly, you know, is up
[4:49] Speaker 3: to the person listening.
[4:50] Speaker 1: And the NFL had already said that Rice wasn't going
[4:54] Speaker 1: to get suspended going into this season any further based
[4:58] Speaker 1: on everything that's happened.
[5:00] Speaker 2: In theory, they could revisit that.
[5:03] Speaker 1: You know, the NFL has taken an easier stance on
[5:06] Speaker 1: marijuana testing, but whether they view this as a recurring
[5:10] Speaker 1: thing with Rice, and then more importantly in terms of
[5:14] Speaker 1: his career, it's just a big deal that he needs
[5:16] Speaker 1: to prove himself to be a reliable professional.
[5:21] Speaker 2: For the Chiefs. It's a big season for him.
[5:23] Speaker 1: He's entering his fourth year and he's gonna have a
[5:25] Speaker 1: huge role on this team. It's one of the things
[5:27] Speaker 1: that really stands out when you go through all the
[5:29] Speaker 1: depth charts that they are one of the thinnest teams
[5:31] Speaker 1: in the league at wide receiver. You got Taekwon Thornton
[5:34] Speaker 1: at three and I don't even know at four.
[5:37] Speaker 2: Rice is the clear one.
[5:38] Speaker 1: And so it's an important season for him just as
[5:41] Speaker 1: a professional and as it relates to the Chiefs just
[5:44] Speaker 1: playing well on offense. So now you want to start it,
[5:47] Speaker 1: let's go to an injury that we learned about the
[5:50] Speaker 1: Panthers lost to Shan Turk Wharton. He's going by Turk
[5:54] Speaker 1: these days as a nickname. He has underwent next surgery.
[5:59] Speaker 1: If you remember, he was relatively highly ranked on my
[6:02] Speaker 1: Top one to one free agency last year, coming off
[6:05] Speaker 1: a nice Super Bowl run with the Chiefs, where I
[6:08] Speaker 1: thought he played his best in the playoffs, had nok
[6:10] Speaker 1: season with the Panthers.
[6:11] Speaker 2: Not great, but not terrible.
[6:13] Speaker 1: I think he's making around fourteen fifteen million dollars a year.
[6:16] Speaker 1: They're reporting from Joe Personi at the Athletic indicates he
[6:20] Speaker 1: won't miss the entire season, which implies.
[6:24] Speaker 3: A significant portion of the seasons.
[6:26] Speaker 1: Yeah, and when you hear next surgery, you're obviously very
[6:30] Speaker 1: worried about them. What does that make you think about this?
[6:33] Speaker 1: This Panthers defense and where they're at.
[6:35] Speaker 3: Well, the majority of it, especially free agency additions you
[6:39] Speaker 3: think about on the defensive side, and so this can
[6:41] Speaker 3: kind of it takes away from it a little bit
[6:44] Speaker 3: in totality, obviously the bigger pieces being in the edge
[6:48] Speaker 3: and a middle linebacker. But it hurts, it hurts on
[6:51] Speaker 3: the spot where they've needed depth and hopefully, you know,
[6:55] Speaker 3: we no idea on the similarities with regards to the
[6:58] Speaker 3: neck injury. But we saw Nomini man be game this
[7:01] Speaker 3: entire season. You know, long way back, there were extensive
[7:04] Speaker 3: questions about whether or not he would be back. Hopefully
[7:08] Speaker 3: considering the timing, this is centering. You know, Wharton's not
[7:12] Speaker 3: just his football activity but post football activities.
[7:15] Speaker 1: Well, my immediate thought, which was incorrect, was oh, this
[7:18] Speaker 1: maybe helps to explain the Lee Hunter pick. He was
[7:20] Speaker 1: the defensive tackle that they took little different styles, but
[7:23] Speaker 1: same position. Wharton a little bit more of an upfield
[7:27] Speaker 1: kind of pass rusher. Okay, maybe they knew about it.
[7:30] Speaker 1: That was not the case. He reported to the team
[7:33] Speaker 1: something that happened with his neck and sore in is
[7:35] Speaker 1: just a week and a half ago, so they say
[7:37] Speaker 1: that was happenstance. I was a position they wanted to
[7:40] Speaker 1: get deeper at, regardless, and so they do have that
[7:43] Speaker 1: that second round pick Lee Hunter in the mix. They
[7:46] Speaker 1: have Bobby Brown, who's a veteran who's probably coming off
[7:49] Speaker 1: the bench. You have Derek Brown. It is one of
[7:51] Speaker 1: the stronger positions on their team. So just hope for
[7:55] Speaker 1: for Wharton that that he can get better. Finally, in
[7:58] Speaker 1: the news Minnesota, we're going back to Minnesota as a league.
[8:03] Speaker 2: The super Bowl underrated.
[8:04] Speaker 1: People really talk trash about that super Bowl because it
[8:07] Speaker 1: was so cold that weekend especially, it was like negative
[8:11] Speaker 1: degrees fahrenheit. The wind shows like minus twenty on Super
[8:15] Speaker 1: Bowl Day, It's snowed and kind of shut down a
[8:17] Speaker 1: bunch of activities that Friday Saturday. But I had a
[8:19] Speaker 1: good time going to the TJA Fridays and hanging out
[8:23] Speaker 1: Call of America and great fans there in a nice
[8:26] Speaker 1: city and now it's going to be a nice city
[8:28] Speaker 1: at a nicer time of year, though late April is
[8:31] Speaker 1: a little unpredictable.
[8:32] Speaker 3: And how great the people of you know, Minneapolis and
[8:36] Speaker 3: Saint Paul get a chance to show their community at
[8:40] Speaker 3: not like a time wherever it's like oh yeah, I can't,
[8:43] Speaker 3: I can't, I can't go there. They could say, hey,
[8:44] Speaker 3: look this is how we're living in part of the
[8:47] Speaker 3: time of the year.
[8:49] Speaker 1: Although as they as they are probably thinking right now,
[8:52] Speaker 1: I'd like to go check the temperatures, but I don't
[8:54] Speaker 1: have a computer of what late April was like this year,
[8:56] Speaker 1: because I mean they're not above a late a late
[8:58] Speaker 1: April like snow or the.
[9:00] Speaker 2: Thirties or it could be very nice.
[9:01] Speaker 1: But either way, they have some of the best fans
[9:04] Speaker 1: one of the most underrated cities in the league. So
[9:06] Speaker 1: let's give them in a Minnesota and Minneapolis especially and
[9:09] Speaker 1: I think pop.
[9:10] Speaker 3: We could use a little cold if it does get cold,
[9:12] Speaker 3: because like the long winded and excessively cringe draft introductions
[9:16] Speaker 3: by by you know, players and fans and former players
[9:20] Speaker 3: and other folks, maybe we could doll those back a
[9:22] Speaker 3: little bit. If it's colder, people would be less likely
[9:24] Speaker 3: to awkwardly stand there spouting nonsense for forty five minutes.
[9:28] Speaker 1: I will be there, well not there, but I will
[9:30] Speaker 1: be covering that draft here for NFL Daily in twenty
[9:33] Speaker 1: twenty eight. All right, we're to the segment we're going
[9:36] Speaker 1: to do one underrated player for every AFC team. Jordan
[9:40] Speaker 1: and I did this exercise a week ago. Jordan some
[9:46] Speaker 1: well deserved time off this week, and it's going to
[9:49] Speaker 1: be back and taking big swings next week.
[9:51] Speaker 2: Ooh, looking forward to that.
[9:53] Speaker 1: But we got Patrick here doing one underrated player for
[9:56] Speaker 1: every AFC team. We'll let Patrick do the honors. To
[9:59] Speaker 1: start off. You have the Bills.
[10:00] Speaker 3: I will go with Ed Oliver from the Buffalo Bills
[10:03] Speaker 3: at the Tormaniscus last year also had a bicep tear,
[10:05] Speaker 3: caused people to maybe forget about the type of impact
[10:08] Speaker 3: he can have on the football field. I will always
[10:10] Speaker 3: love and celebrate Ed Oliver because of he was one
[10:13] Speaker 3: of those guys where it was the well, I don't
[10:15] Speaker 3: know how much he really loves the game in the
[10:17] Speaker 3: draft because Major Applewhite tried to take a jacket off
[10:20] Speaker 3: of him on the sideline, and he, being a fully
[10:22] Speaker 3: grown man at that point, did not want that conversation
[10:26] Speaker 3: and so loved the game. Really translates to how much
[10:29] Speaker 3: appeasement do you have for the authority? Figures in twenty
[10:31] Speaker 3: twenty four, pass yards per play go up a half
[10:34] Speaker 3: a yard when he's off the field, pass yards per
[10:36] Speaker 3: attempt go up four tenths of a yard. And this
[10:41] Speaker 3: is an eighty two PFF last year eighty four on
[10:45] Speaker 3: Madden NFL twenty six. And so these agencies again tasked
[10:50] Speaker 3: with rating, I think they underrated him and they under
[10:53] Speaker 3: selling his ability.
[10:54] Speaker 2: Eighty two is really good, though, but eight.
[10:58] Speaker 3: And again this was a post Aaron Donald draft. Like
[11:01] Speaker 3: Aaron Donald's reckon the league. He comes into the league
[11:04] Speaker 3: and it's well, we have an undersized based on the
[11:07] Speaker 3: schematics of what you want in an interior defensive lineman
[11:11] Speaker 3: who deals with explosiveness in quickness, and so it's like, oh,
[11:17] Speaker 3: he's not strong. Mann has him been sixty four strength?
[11:19] Speaker 3: Greg sixty four is almost failing, And I think that
[11:25] Speaker 3: is underrating at Oliver strength at the point of attack.
[11:28] Speaker 3: And he is underrated.
[11:30] Speaker 1: I mean, if you compared him to an average human
[11:34] Speaker 1: and fifty it's crazy. You imagine if Vet Oliver was
[11:37] Speaker 1: here and we told him he's got a D in strength. No,
[11:41] Speaker 1: you really could see his value last year when he
[11:44] Speaker 1: got hurt. Unfortunately, they were just not the same defense
[11:48] Speaker 1: and he was playing some of his best ball. He
[11:50] Speaker 1: kind of occupies to me a similar spot to Greg
[11:54] Speaker 1: Rousseau on the Bills in league wide, where he is
[12:00] Speaker 1: one of the best players that like I think understandably
[12:02] Speaker 1: doesn't make the Pro Bowl. But it's just like just
[12:05] Speaker 1: below that level Pro Bowl. You know, I'm talking about
[12:07] Speaker 1: the initial people that make it. It's only a handful
[12:10] Speaker 1: of players at your position. Very very good player at Oliver,
[12:15] Speaker 1: and I think, like a lot of players at that
[12:17] Speaker 1: position has steadily gotten better each in every season. They
[12:20] Speaker 1: need a healthy season out of him and our Bills
[12:24] Speaker 1: fan who is recovering.
[12:26] Speaker 2: Well, you wouldn't have known that.
[12:27] Speaker 1: The Sabers lost a brutal overtime game last night by
[12:32] Speaker 1: Eric's disposition.
[12:33] Speaker 2: What was your note on at Oliver here? He writes
[12:35] Speaker 2: horses around Buffalo, like around the town.
[12:38] Speaker 4: Yeah, like regularly, like throughout the season, people will post like, oh,
[12:42] Speaker 4: there's Ed Oliver going by on horseback.
[12:44] Speaker 2: Like functionally or just for fun, or he goes and
[12:48] Speaker 2: horse guy.
[12:48] Speaker 4: He is a horse guy. Love that he preferred method
[12:51] Speaker 4: of transportation around town most of the season is like
[12:54] Speaker 4: regularly you'll see him. There goes at Oliver on a horse.
[12:57] Speaker 4: One of the benefits of living in Buffalo. You gotta
[12:59] Speaker 4: be wrong, I think throughout a horse, I mean, that's coorse,
[13:02] Speaker 4: that's crazy, that's fair.
[13:03] Speaker 1: I'm gonna go armand Membo jets and so with this
[13:09] Speaker 1: underrated tag, we're gonna have different levels of fame for
[13:12] Speaker 1: these players. I think Membo was pretty commonly recognized as
[13:17] Speaker 1: one of, if not the best rookie tackles in the league.
[13:21] Speaker 1: Where I am putting him as underrated is that, first
[13:25] Speaker 1: of all, he could have been in a world where
[13:27] Speaker 1: we voted for offensive linemen and felt confident enough in
[13:30] Speaker 1: our evaluation and had the time to look through all
[13:31] Speaker 1: the tape in a world where that happened, I think
[13:34] Speaker 1: it's a totally fair argument that he was the best
[13:36] Speaker 1: rookie offensively in the NFL. In fact, I should I
[13:40] Speaker 1: should have put my money where.
[13:41] Speaker 2: In your mouth is. But I'm part of the problem.
[13:43] Speaker 1: I didn't necessarily feel confident enough in it in my
[13:47] Speaker 1: drilling down. But this offseason, especially knowing I was picking
[13:50] Speaker 1: him for this role, watched them a little more, talk
[13:52] Speaker 1: to some people, and I just think his athleticism is crazy.
[13:58] Speaker 1: Like he gave up a lot of sacks, which I
[14:00] Speaker 1: think is the basic thing we're gonna look at. Unfortunately,
[14:03] Speaker 1: and so maybe that would have prevented him from winning
[14:05] Speaker 1: that Rookie of the Year. But if you look at
[14:07] Speaker 1: the overall QB hits he gave up and the overall
[14:10] Speaker 1: pressures he gave up very very low, he did get
[14:13] Speaker 1: beat cleanly, like a handful of times where he gave
[14:17] Speaker 1: up sacks, but he also was playing rookie. He was
[14:19] Speaker 1: also playing ahead of quarterbacks that were taking sacks on
[14:22] Speaker 1: like everything, also had some penalties, So in terms of
[14:25] Speaker 1: stats like wasn't incredible, but if you just watch him
[14:29] Speaker 1: his athleticism, he's everything that you want in a tackle.
[14:34] Speaker 1: And here's a stat for you. When they ran the
[14:36] Speaker 1: ball to the right side, the Jets averaged four point
[14:41] Speaker 1: six yards per attempt over right tackle where he's playing.
[14:44] Speaker 1: When they ran to the left side, same running back.
[14:47] Speaker 1: These are actually Breese Hall specific numbers. I even drilled
[14:50] Speaker 1: it down, so I was just like, let's get to
[14:53] Speaker 1: the best player. Three point two yards per carry to
[14:56] Speaker 1: the left, four point six to the right. And he
[14:59] Speaker 1: is one of those guys you don't need to be
[15:01] Speaker 1: a big tape head to watch him and be like, man,
[15:04] Speaker 1: that is impressive how he moved. Not saying he's like
[15:06] Speaker 1: a future Pinae Seel, but in terms of like right
[15:09] Speaker 1: tackles that have entered the league maybe as exciting as
[15:12] Speaker 1: high at ceilings since Pinasul.
[15:13] Speaker 3: Yeah, the Jets could use those one point four yards
[15:15] Speaker 3: every single time Breese Hall it carries the ball. And
[15:18] Speaker 3: to have a guy, yeah, you take him in the
[15:20] Speaker 3: top ten, but he starts seventeen games and he plays
[15:23] Speaker 3: one of the offensive snaps and you're gonna be okay
[15:28] Speaker 3: with a few mistakes because when you have a guy
[15:30] Speaker 3: that's explosive. He's making plays that aren't on the board
[15:33] Speaker 3: to make for guys who can't reach and get to
[15:36] Speaker 3: those spots.
[15:36] Speaker 1: So I'm with you, and it's a tough position for
[15:39] Speaker 1: a rookie. I think if you, if you actually went
[15:41] Speaker 1: through who played and stayed healthy and played well, he's
[15:44] Speaker 1: probably a top to twelve you know, right, tackle already
[15:48] Speaker 1: top ten to twelve as a rookie. Maybe the hardest
[15:51] Speaker 1: position as a rookie that projects to making those Pro
[15:53] Speaker 1: Bowls that I was talking about maybe as early as
[15:56] Speaker 1: this year. All Right, you got the Patriots, and I'm
[15:58] Speaker 1: proud of myself for not having mentioned that the Jets,
[16:01] Speaker 1: you know, took Bamboo a few picks after Will Campbell
[16:04] Speaker 1: until now.
[16:05] Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, you can't be proud of yourself. Were you
[16:08] Speaker 3: proud because you were.
[16:09] Speaker 1: About but you didn't wash? Okay, Sorry, I'm making fun
[16:13] Speaker 1: of myself.
[16:14] Speaker 3: No, it's great, and I'm glad that I get passed
[16:16] Speaker 3: with talking about the New England Patriots on a podcast
[16:19] Speaker 3: with Greg Rosenthal because this player is underrated not just
[16:23] Speaker 3: by the folks in my opinion on PFF and MAD,
[16:26] Speaker 3: but also by the New England Patriots. Themselves because oh yeah,
[16:29] Speaker 3: Kayshawan Boody had a seventy one grade last season. According
[16:32] Speaker 3: to PFF on Madden, he has an eighty. I say
[16:34] Speaker 3: underrated because the people again who are tasked with rating
[16:37] Speaker 3: players are short of where they need to be. Only
[16:39] Speaker 3: one receiver had more yards on deep balls to the
[16:42] Speaker 3: sideline than Booty. That was Pickens. And how many more
[16:45] Speaker 3: yards did he have one? He had one more yard
[16:48] Speaker 3: on deep shots down the sideline, another raiding agency. Again,
[16:52] Speaker 3: the Patriots bring in Romeo Dops to replace Diggs. That's fine,
[16:55] Speaker 3: and I can definitely see a J. Brown coming in
[16:59] Speaker 3: as a substitute for protection issues which were the actual
[17:02] Speaker 3: problem for the New England Patriots down the stretch, especially
[17:06] Speaker 3: in the Super Bowl. And I am not saying that
[17:08] Speaker 3: he is AJ Brown, but the protection is a vastly
[17:12] Speaker 3: bigger issue than Booty, who is massive. Kaishan body is.
[17:17] Speaker 2: Booty is massive.
[17:20] Speaker 1: I think this is a perfect pick if he goes
[17:23] Speaker 1: to the Eagles. I think he could have an incredible season.
[17:27] Speaker 1: Some of those stats you just said about the deep
[17:30] Speaker 1: passes I think indicates how rare he is because there's
[17:34] Speaker 1: only so many ball winners really in the NFL. Yeah,
[17:37] Speaker 1: and he's a ball winner, and you would including against
[17:40] Speaker 1: a couple of times for the other one, right, Like
[17:44] Speaker 1: I don't. I wouldn't understand it. If it happens, then
[17:48] Speaker 1: it's even more underrated. They maybe don't win that game
[17:50] Speaker 1: against the Texans unless he can be Derek Stingley of
[17:53] Speaker 1: all people off the line and make an incredible one
[17:56] Speaker 1: handed catch. I remember when we recap that game, there
[18:01] Speaker 1: was only three long passes that Derek Stingley gave up
[18:05] Speaker 1: all season long or something like that, and it's like
[18:08] Speaker 1: Booty for two of them. I know his Booty was
[18:09] Speaker 1: that the first. I think it's an entire career in
[18:13] Speaker 1: terms of big.
[18:13] Speaker 3: Play multiple r K Shawn Booty and two of them
[18:16] Speaker 3: looked almost exactly the same.
[18:17] Speaker 1: Yeah, I've got the Dolphins, and here I went with
[18:21] Speaker 1: someone that's truly under the radar, and that is Jordan Phillips,
[18:26] Speaker 1: a fifth round pick, Day three defensive tackle. One of
[18:32] Speaker 1: the youngest players in the entire NFL last year as
[18:36] Speaker 1: we tape here in mid May, still just twenty one
[18:39] Speaker 1: years old. He started sixteen games. He was one of
[18:45] Speaker 1: three defensive tackles that the Dolphins took last year. It
[18:50] Speaker 1: was Kenneth Grant in the first round? Is it Zeke Biggers?
[18:54] Speaker 1: I believe this is where I need my computer on
[18:57] Speaker 1: Day three as well, and he was the one that
[19:00] Speaker 1: they trusted to be out there on the field. He's already,
[19:03] Speaker 1: you know, almost a five hundred snap guy, and I
[19:07] Speaker 1: went and watched him. He's a big guy who when
[19:09] Speaker 1: he came into the league, the reputation is, okay, he's
[19:12] Speaker 1: going to play nose tackle, and he is known as
[19:15] Speaker 1: like a great run defender. But what happened was when
[19:18] Speaker 1: he went up against some of these smaller centers, and
[19:19] Speaker 1: these are guys who get paid a lot of money.
[19:21] Speaker 1: Garrett Bradbury was one Tanner Bordolini who had a great
[19:24] Speaker 1: season for the Colts. He got past them with like
[19:28] Speaker 1: quickness and so if you watch his film for a
[19:30] Speaker 1: rookie twenty one year old defensive tackle, there is a
[19:34] Speaker 1: strength and quickness for his size which is massive that
[19:38] Speaker 1: not many people have. Like, I'm definitely taking him long
[19:41] Speaker 1: term over Kenneth Grant, who improved later in the season,
[19:44] Speaker 1: was their first round pick, but they told us what
[19:46] Speaker 1: they thought of him by putting him out there essentially
[19:49] Speaker 1: Week one and keeping him as a starter, not a
[19:52] Speaker 1: guy it's gotten a lot of pop, but someone I
[19:54] Speaker 1: think they feel pretty good about moving forward.
[19:56] Speaker 2: Jordan Phillips.
[19:57] Speaker 3: Whenever you can have somebody contribute very early in a rebuild.
[20:02] Speaker 3: He's also a seventy one rating on Madden, which and
[20:06] Speaker 3: again a lot of these things, a lot of it's
[20:09] Speaker 3: based on the awareness stat which is heavy, and you're
[20:11] Speaker 3: going to move that over as a guy progresses and
[20:14] Speaker 3: gets better at the game. But in and of itself,
[20:17] Speaker 3: that's underrated the potential for growth.
[20:21] Speaker 1: But even you know what a rookie defensive Day three
[20:24] Speaker 1: tackle getting seventy one on Madden. It's like a nice
[20:28] Speaker 1: little accomplishment. You want to know another accomplishment that he had,
[20:31] Speaker 1: What's that He was one of two different men named
[20:36] Speaker 1: Jordan Phillips to be drafted by the Dolphins in the
[20:39] Speaker 1: last ten years.
[20:39] Speaker 2: Pretty weird. I kind of forgot that.
[20:42] Speaker 1: The other Jordan Phillips, who then went to the Bills
[20:44] Speaker 1: down and the round, was drafted initially by the Miami Dolphins,
[20:48] Speaker 1: both defensive tackle. Yeah, same position. What are the odds?
[20:52] Speaker 1: This next one is spicy for this exercise, I thought
[20:56] Speaker 1: it was spicy.
[20:57] Speaker 2: It's the Ravens.
[20:59] Speaker 3: So now I feel even more. I'm like, this is
[21:04] Speaker 3: this is Shade's a FOUNTAINO.
[21:05] Speaker 1: Now, No, not at all, No.
[21:07] Speaker 3: It is. Trey Hendrickson had a fifty six run defense
[21:11] Speaker 3: grade last year according to PFF, where clearly the woebegone
[21:18] Speaker 3: Bengals suffered as a run defense from the presence of
[21:21] Speaker 3: Trey Hendrickson. Based on that rating, fifty six will get
[21:25] Speaker 3: you held back a grade. People will make terminations about
[21:28] Speaker 3: your viability as a human participating in society. With fifty six,
[21:31] Speaker 3: the Bengals gave up a yard and a half more
[21:33] Speaker 3: per carry with Trey Hendrickson off the field. Last year,
[21:36] Speaker 3: they loaded the box more without Trey Hendrickson on the
[21:40] Speaker 3: field and behind the line of scrimmage. They got hit
[21:44] Speaker 3: behind the line of scrimmage more five percent more when
[21:47] Speaker 3: Trey Hendrickson was on the field, and the explosive run
[21:49] Speaker 3: percentage was cut in half. Those numbers were an issue
[21:54] Speaker 3: in twenty twenty four. But what my take presupposes, Greg
[21:58] Speaker 3: is when the football player is being asked to do
[22:00] Speaker 3: different things, there's different outcomes, and also there may be
[22:03] Speaker 3: deleterious effects. When you are in a long term, multi
[22:07] Speaker 3: year conversation about not providing somebody with compensation, and they
[22:11] Speaker 3: rush the passer and they prioritize sacking the quarterback over
[22:14] Speaker 3: other things because that's how you get paid when somebody
[22:18] Speaker 3: is fairly compensated. I think Trey Hendrickson is let's be honest,
[22:23] Speaker 3: he's he's not Max Crosby against the run, but he's
[22:28] Speaker 3: a serviceable football player that I think like this idea
[22:31] Speaker 3: that like, ah, yeah, he's getting murdered in the run game.
[22:33] Speaker 3: Every single time you've done like that, it's just not happening.
[22:36] Speaker 3: It's like, oh, if you could just post up Steph
[22:38] Speaker 3: Curry every time, Okay, it's not working. That's what I'm saying.
[22:43] Speaker 2: It's a great point.
[22:44] Speaker 1: The majority of people paid to do this that said
[22:50] Speaker 1: that Trey Hendrickson is a sieve in the running game
[22:52] Speaker 1: is a negative in the running game. That just kept
[22:54] Speaker 1: parroting that over and over during this whole off season.
[22:58] Speaker 1: They don't know what they're talking about. They're just saying
[23:02] Speaker 1: something that everyone else said.
[23:03] Speaker 3: I'm not gonna I'm not gonna go out there.
[23:04] Speaker 2: I'm going that far. Okay, I'm saying.
[23:08] Speaker 1: I'm going media criticism. They're just saying things other people said.
[23:12] Speaker 1: Now I'm not going to say that I have a
[23:14] Speaker 1: hot take about his run defense in general, I would
[23:18] Speaker 1: have to I would want to go back and study
[23:20] Speaker 1: that whether they're targeting.
[23:21] Speaker 3: And I wanted to confirm my priors and bring tape. Yeah,
[23:24] Speaker 3: to give to AerR.
[23:24] Speaker 1: Your stats a great stuff on there, Yeah, but your stats,
[23:29] Speaker 1: stats are more important.
[23:31] Speaker 2: You backed it up with with real stats.
[23:34] Speaker 1: The spicy part of it is that Trey Hendrickson is
[23:38] Speaker 1: an extremely well known player, and I think people think
[23:42] Speaker 1: highly of him. So I think to go as far
[23:44] Speaker 1: as saying he's underrated, the most underrated player on the
[23:47] Speaker 1: team in theory, I guess, I guess we just an
[23:51] Speaker 1: an underrated player. You're you're saying he's another level better
[23:54] Speaker 1: than people even realized.
[23:55] Speaker 3: Like fifty six uh being the issue here and to
[24:00] Speaker 3: go back to like if we want to talk about
[24:03] Speaker 3: armand Membo right there has a fifty fifty five, he
[24:10] Speaker 3: has a sixty one in change of direction. Arman Membu
[24:13] Speaker 3: the massive human being that moves around, they're giving him
[24:17] Speaker 3: a sixty one in change of direction. Like the relative
[24:20] Speaker 3: here is that Trey Hendrickson is like a quarterback out
[24:25] Speaker 3: there in the run game, and I'm just not I'm
[24:27] Speaker 3: not feeling.
[24:28] Speaker 2: He's just like lying down every time. I don't know
[24:30] Speaker 2: what to do, And.
[24:31] Speaker 3: So I went back. The worst run defense the Bengals
[24:34] Speaker 3: played last year in terms of success was against the
[24:37] Speaker 3: Denver Broncos. The RJ. Harvey had a good game as
[24:40] Speaker 3: well as JK. Dobbins. He went for one to twenty one.
[24:42] Speaker 3: And I just expect to see Trey Hendrickson just diving
[24:45] Speaker 3: out of bounds on these run plays. It just it's
[24:47] Speaker 3: what's happened. I'm not seeing it. I think he is
[24:50] Speaker 3: an underrated run.
[24:50] Speaker 1: Defender, and I do believe systems can impact how people view.
[24:56] Speaker 2: You know, he is.
[24:58] Speaker 1: Going from a team it's been terrible stopping the run
[25:01] Speaker 1: in general, one of the worst the Bengals, to a
[25:05] Speaker 1: team that prizes stopping the run, especially from their edges.
[25:09] Speaker 1: So we might see him get coached up a little differently,
[25:12] Speaker 1: have different responsibilities and see that run stop score Skyrocket
[25:18] Speaker 1: and Claybon look like a genius.
[25:20] Speaker 2: I love it.
[25:20] Speaker 1: We're going two of the most famous players on this
[25:23] Speaker 1: list back to back in terms of underrated. So when
[25:26] Speaker 1: I say that Chase Brown is underrated, I am recognizing
[25:30] Speaker 1: the fact that the average fan does know Chase Brown,
[25:33] Speaker 1: and they do think he's probably pretty good. My point
[25:37] Speaker 1: is that he's even better than you realize. From week
[25:40] Speaker 1: eleven on, when they kind of figured out their running game,
[25:43] Speaker 1: Dalton risers healthy, they figure out who to play. He
[25:46] Speaker 1: was fifth among all running backs in yards from scrimmage.
[25:50] Speaker 1: You can guess the players ahead of him. It's Gibbs,
[25:53] Speaker 1: and it's McCaffrey and Bijon, and I think Cook was
[25:59] Speaker 1: the other one. I think is a good comp for
[26:01] Speaker 1: him in a type of contract that I think Chase
[26:03] Speaker 1: Brown would be worthy of getting because I think he's
[26:06] Speaker 1: a very smart player. I went back watched some of
[26:09] Speaker 1: his tape from last year, and he sees things before
[26:14] Speaker 1: they happen. I decided to watch a game where the
[26:16] Speaker 1: Bengals didn't score a single point. I was like, this
[26:19] Speaker 1: is a game where Chase Brown he's not gonna do well.
[26:21] Speaker 1: And that was against the Ravens. Multiple times in that
[26:24] Speaker 1: game he made great plays. On one Alowie Gilman, perfect
[26:27] Speaker 1: defensive play call. He sees him approaching, He's going to
[26:29] Speaker 1: be unblocked into the hole. He knows Gilman's coming, Brown
[26:33] Speaker 1: hits him with a spin move. He's got one of
[26:35] Speaker 1: the better spin moves in the league. He likes to
[26:37] Speaker 1: use it. He likes to use it as a receiver.
[26:39] Speaker 1: He used it.
[26:40] Speaker 2: If you're watching on YouTube on.
[26:42] Speaker 1: The very play that's going on right now against Jordan
[26:45] Speaker 1: Brooks Magic, there's multiple times in that game, by the way,
[26:48] Speaker 1: that he made Jordan Brooks look like the stiffest linebacker
[26:53] Speaker 1: you'll ever see. I don't wanna be smirch anyone, but
[26:57] Speaker 1: an elder linebacker that needs to base the end his career.
[27:00] Speaker 2: And Jordan Brooks is a good player.
[27:02] Speaker 3: Now, I wonder who we were talking about.
[27:04] Speaker 2: Chase Brown. It's on the list.
[27:05] Speaker 1: Actually, Chase Brown makes slower linebackers look that way. He
[27:10] Speaker 1: is outstanding in terms of his receiving production. I don't
[27:14] Speaker 1: need to tell you this Patrick because as fantasy football goes,
[27:17] Speaker 1: and I know he had a slow start that last year,
[27:19] Speaker 1: he's a productive player top twelve. I believe in fantasy
[27:23] Speaker 1: at running back the last two years, I do think
[27:26] Speaker 1: he comfortably fits in that five to ten range. He'd
[27:30] Speaker 1: be exactly the type of running back if I was
[27:32] Speaker 1: making a team that I would want to be my
[27:35] Speaker 1: running back, assuming you're not going to get like John Robinson,
[27:38] Speaker 1: a Hall of famer. He can do everything really well
[27:43] Speaker 1: and I think is better at the things like running
[27:46] Speaker 1: through contact, power, picking up the tough yards than people realize.
[27:49] Speaker 3: Yeah, people sleep on his bit. I think most people
[27:52] Speaker 3: are well aware that Chase Brown everything he can do
[27:54] Speaker 3: in the receiving game as a guy who can separate
[27:57] Speaker 3: quickness in and out of his breaks, making plays on
[27:59] Speaker 3: the ball as well, especially for a small lure guy.
[28:03] Speaker 3: But people under sell his capacity to be explosive with
[28:06] Speaker 3: the ball in his hands in the rung and is
[28:09] Speaker 3: he Jamir? Is he Bajon? No? But there's other aspects
[28:12] Speaker 3: of the game where he contributes. But because I think
[28:16] Speaker 3: of this size, there's the box is placed on him.
[28:20] Speaker 3: They have this idea of like a satellite back. Okay,
[28:23] Speaker 3: he's going out there and getting yards, He's being productive.
[28:25] Speaker 3: What more do you want? And I think he makes
[28:27] Speaker 3: the Bengals able to do what the Bengals can do.
[28:30] Speaker 1: And how many running backs in the NFL in the
[28:33] Speaker 1: last two seasons have had more total touches than Chase Brown.
[28:36] Speaker 1: It's a pretty short list at this point. Having two
[28:39] Speaker 1: hundred and forty ish carries and then you're getting fifty
[28:43] Speaker 1: catches in the receiving game that is your workhorse back
[28:46] Speaker 1: in twenty twenty six, there's not many of those left.
[28:48] Speaker 1: I actually consider Chase Brown one of those. And yeah,
[28:52] Speaker 1: he's not your first pick to just run it in
[28:55] Speaker 1: the middle, and yet like his mistackles force is really high.
[28:57] Speaker 1: In that same Ravens game, ran through Kyle Hamilton tackle
[29:02] Speaker 1: is one of the best tacklers in the league two times.
[29:04] Speaker 2: I mean just ran straight through him.
[29:06] Speaker 1: And there are sometimes where he's got a smaller guy
[29:10] Speaker 1: from the secondary trying to line him up and he'll
[29:12] Speaker 1: run right through him. So really impressive player that it
[29:15] Speaker 1: wouldn't surprise me if he takes another step. And he's
[29:17] Speaker 1: kind of recognized in that James Cook, I think is
[29:20] Speaker 1: a nice comp for him of the level that I
[29:23] Speaker 1: see him at.
[29:24] Speaker 3: Yeah, and I just do think the accumulation of pain
[29:28] Speaker 3: and punishment on his like we didn't necessarily appreciate Peke
[29:33] Speaker 3: Austin Eckler these times. So I'm glad that you're shouting
[29:36] Speaker 3: out Chase Brown is under raged. Well.
[29:38] Speaker 1: In the first five weeks of the season, there was
[29:39] Speaker 1: this crazy stat that him and Ashton Genty had that
[29:41] Speaker 1: their average spot where they got hit was in the backfield.
[29:46] Speaker 1: It was negative. That's how bad The Bengals offensive line
[29:49] Speaker 1: was run blocking early last season, and so it was
[29:52] Speaker 1: a slow start for him. But once they got it going,
[29:54] Speaker 1: he got it going as well. All Right, you got
[29:56] Speaker 1: the Browns up next.
[29:57] Speaker 3: So Harrold Fannon got a great on PFF of sixty
[30:00] Speaker 3: nine point one. It was in an offense. Here's here's
[30:03] Speaker 3: my point for Harlo Fan. The offense had a thirty
[30:06] Speaker 3: four point six percent success rate. They were dead last
[30:08] Speaker 3: in the league. They had twenty six touchdowns rusting and
[30:11] Speaker 3: receiving total in twenty twenty five. Harold Fannon had seven
[30:15] Speaker 3: of them. He was the team's leading receiver, demanded a
[30:18] Speaker 3: ton of targets. Everyone in the stadium, on the planet
[30:20] Speaker 3: knew he was getting the ball. His catch percentage was low. Yeah,
[30:24] Speaker 3: the offense was bad, the quarterbacks were bad, and the
[30:26] Speaker 3: coach got fired. I think everybody generally accepts that he's good.
[30:31] Speaker 3: But his target percentage was similar to Trey McBride, His
[30:34] Speaker 3: reception EPA was comparable to Tucker Craft. His rating on
[30:37] Speaker 3: targets was higher than Theo Johnson, Travis Kelsey, and Tyler Warren.
[30:40] Speaker 3: And the Browns offense was miserable, and all those things
[30:44] Speaker 3: were still true. He's underrated.
[30:46] Speaker 1: Love that love recognizing a unique player. When you see
[30:51] Speaker 1: Harold Fannon on the field, I remember very distinctly, you know,
[30:54] Speaker 1: watching him overseas, there's no one quite like him. He
[30:57] Speaker 1: moves a little different, big player, makes crazy catches, drops.
[31:02] Speaker 2: Some catches too.
[31:03] Speaker 1: It happens, It happens. I'm saying he's just so, but
[31:07] Speaker 1: he's a bucket, as the kids would say, that's out
[31:10] Speaker 1: there produces I and also another position that traditionally pretty
[31:14] Speaker 1: difficult for tight ends. I know they've gotten more productive
[31:16] Speaker 1: over the last few years. He's someone I have a
[31:18] Speaker 1: feeling is rooten for shudur Win that job, because I
[31:21] Speaker 1: think him and Sauder specifically had a nice connection and
[31:25] Speaker 1: trusted him as he should as really his best receiver.
[31:29] Speaker 1: I'm going with a guy who probably would have been
[31:32] Speaker 1: on this list last year for the Steelers, and he's
[31:34] Speaker 1: still on the list because he's still underrated. Nick Herberg
[31:37] Speaker 1: has finally graduated in my own brain from confusing him
[31:42] Speaker 1: with Nate Herberg. It just was something I couldn't I
[31:46] Speaker 1: just couldn't get past. I mean, its Nate Herberg was
[31:48] Speaker 1: on the Steelers it's like a gar. It just was
[31:51] Speaker 1: very confusing. At this point, Nick's career is so outstanding.
[31:55] Speaker 1: I'm not going to confuse him anymore. Sorry to Nate,
[31:59] Speaker 1: he led the NFL.
[32:00] Speaker 3: If there's only space in your brain for one Herbig
[32:02] Speaker 3: on the Steelers.
[32:03] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's it.
[32:03] Speaker 3: Okay.
[32:04] Speaker 1: I don't know what Nate's doing right now. I think
[32:06] Speaker 1: he's is he still on the Steelers. I think he's
[32:07] Speaker 1: bounced around.
[32:08] Speaker 3: So it's true for real.
[32:09] Speaker 1: Oh no, only one Herbig is allowed at any time.
[32:13] Speaker 1: So in twenty twenty four past rush to win rate.
[32:16] Speaker 1: People have different opinions about the stat in general, but
[32:21] Speaker 1: in twenty twenty four, Nick Krbrigg's pass rush win rate
[32:25] Speaker 1: was so far ahead of the entire rest of the league.
[32:28] Speaker 2: I think it was like nine.
[32:29] Speaker 1: He was thirty four percent, and the next closest was
[32:32] Speaker 1: twenty five. The next closest, by the way, was like
[32:35] Speaker 1: Will Anderson and Jonathan Grenard, and not far behind that
[32:38] Speaker 1: Nick Benito, Michael Parsons. So you can say it's a
[32:41] Speaker 1: flawed stat. But last year, after Nick Herbig went back
[32:46] Speaker 1: to back, back to back, the people right behind him
[32:49] Speaker 1: are Nick Benito, Michael Parsons, Will Anderson, Abdull Carter watch
[32:53] Speaker 1: out for that second year Leap and Miles Garrett.
[32:56] Speaker 2: So I don't know how flawed that stat is.
[32:59] Speaker 1: If that if it's pumping out those players as the
[33:01] Speaker 1: best pass rushers in the league, and yet I still
[33:05] Speaker 1: think that makes him a little underrated to be able
[33:07] Speaker 1: to do that back to back season. Now, he didn't
[33:08] Speaker 1: win it by nine percentage points last season. What they
[33:11] Speaker 1: did was up his usage, mostly because of injury early
[33:14] Speaker 1: in the season, and then they'd put him back on
[33:17] Speaker 1: the bench at the end of the season. He only
[33:21] Speaker 1: had one game in the last I believe seven or
[33:27] Speaker 1: eight games Patrick with over thirty snaps. So he's not
[33:31] Speaker 1: underrated by Joe Fann. He's underrated by the Steelers, and
[33:34] Speaker 1: that's why he deserves to still be on that list,
[33:37] Speaker 1: where like high Smith and TJ. Watt are just getting
[33:40] Speaker 1: so many more snaps down the stretch than Nick Kerbrick.
[33:44] Speaker 3: Especially when late in the season when you weren't necessarily
[33:48] Speaker 3: getting maximum TJ. Watt like it was like twenty five
[33:52] Speaker 3: percent of TJ. Watt last year. A bit of a crime,
[33:55] Speaker 3: like to pay to play sixty percent of the defensive
[33:58] Speaker 3: snaps in twenty twenty five he went up from fifty
[34:01] Speaker 3: to twenty twenty four. Uh, but to have win rates
[34:04] Speaker 3: similar to those guys, they got to know we need
[34:07] Speaker 3: we need more Nick Herberg, and we need like better
[34:10] Speaker 3: Nick Herbig propaganda, like we need Nick to be promoted.
[34:14] Speaker 1: He's got the traditional numbers two eight sacks, thirteen quarterback hits,
[34:18] Speaker 1: forty seven total pressure.
[34:19] Speaker 2: So those those.
[34:20] Speaker 1: Numbers were were good, and he only got that extra
[34:23] Speaker 1: ten percent because because hy Smith and Watt missed some
[34:26] Speaker 1: time early and even late late in the season.
[34:28] Speaker 2: It was crazy.
[34:29] Speaker 1: I mean when they essentially benched him, and I guess
[34:32] Speaker 1: he's not as good at stopping the run as those
[34:34] Speaker 1: other two, but I don't think he's a total sieve.
[34:37] Speaker 2: When they essentially bench him. He was leading the league
[34:38] Speaker 2: then too.
[34:39] Speaker 1: Imagine imagine that leading essentially benching the guy who's leading
[34:42] Speaker 1: the league in past rush for win rate. We're gonna
[34:45] Speaker 1: take a quick break and when we come back, Patrick
[34:47] Speaker 1: Clayn is going to blow your mind. Wait, the most
[34:50] Speaker 1: underrated oh oh on the Houston Tech.
[34:52] Speaker 3: Yeah, this is taken.
[35:05] Speaker 2: Back on NFL Daily.
[35:08] Speaker 1: Patrick Claybahn drawing a lot of disrespect from the Madding
[35:11] Speaker 1: ratings specifically, and he noted the ultimate disrespect that the
[35:16] Speaker 1: two Jordan Phillips is the Phillips I in Buffalo and
[35:19] Speaker 1: Miami only have one profile picture. They just were glazy
[35:22] Speaker 1: and copied and pasted it.
[35:24] Speaker 3: And you, having delved deeply into the younger Jordan, yes,
[35:27] Speaker 3: have determined that that is a picture of the young Jordan.
[35:29] Speaker 2: Pretty sure. Yeah, it's the younger one.
[35:30] Speaker 3: So you come into the league first, it's your name.
[35:33] Speaker 3: And the Madden folks, who are great, by the way,
[35:37] Speaker 3: they got a lot of they got a lot of
[35:38] Speaker 3: ratings to do. Somebody's got to do the ratings. Yeah,
[35:41] Speaker 3: I get it, we're doing underrated. I'm not, you know,
[35:44] Speaker 3: taking to task the people who are doing this. I'm
[35:47] Speaker 3: just saying, as opposed to saying somebody is just underrated
[35:51] Speaker 3: based on Heather, you.
[35:53] Speaker 1: Went with the numbers. Numbers, and we do love the Madden.
[35:55] Speaker 1: Yes family. Shook is a part of that family, my son,
[36:00] Speaker 1: the massive Madden player and fan.
[36:02] Speaker 2: And you're going to talk about his favorite team to
[36:05] Speaker 2: play with.
[36:06] Speaker 3: Here, Yeah, and honestly, one of his one of his
[36:09] Speaker 3: favorite players, that is Coleridge Bernard C. J. Stroud, the
[36:13] Speaker 3: fourth who has cratered to a seventy seven overall on Madden.
[36:18] Speaker 3: A lot of people may be familiar with the game
[36:20] Speaker 3: against the New England Patriots in the playoffs, where it
[36:23] Speaker 3: was horrible. I would like to suggest to the people
[36:27] Speaker 3: who watched that game, who saw some football, who appreciate
[36:30] Speaker 3: our game, that c J. Stroud was not as bad
[36:33] Speaker 3: over the course of the season and had a miserable
[36:36] Speaker 3: playoff game. He was successful against man coverage. He had
[36:39] Speaker 3: one hundred and sixteen point two passer rating, the fifth
[36:42] Speaker 3: highest in the league. He averaged seven point one yards
[36:45] Speaker 3: per attempt in the red zone against man he had
[36:48] Speaker 3: the third highest mark. He completed sixty seven percent of
[36:50] Speaker 3: his passes, He had eleven touchdowns, not a single interception.
[36:55] Speaker 3: He had a bad game, he had spots in the
[36:57] Speaker 3: season that were miserable, and we've got to the point
[37:00] Speaker 3: where c J. Stroud, who was like the future of
[37:03] Speaker 3: the NFL. I don't think we leaned too heavily on that,
[37:06] Speaker 3: but I think the fallback after some bad play has
[37:10] Speaker 3: been way too much.
[37:12] Speaker 2: Totally agree. His numbers for the season.
[37:16] Speaker 1: Actually are better than I would have even expected having
[37:19] Speaker 1: watched every one of his games. His EPA per play,
[37:23] Speaker 1: his QBR, his success rate, like they all paint a
[37:26] Speaker 1: picture of about a top twelve quarterback. They just if
[37:29] Speaker 1: you consider the offensive line struggles and the lack of
[37:31] Speaker 1: a running game and the offensive coordinator, like you gotta
[37:35] Speaker 1: give some extra points for that.
[37:38] Speaker 2: The catches.
[37:40] Speaker 1: Last year was the most concerning year for me as
[37:43] Speaker 1: a CJ. Stroud fan, because I do think what happened
[37:46] Speaker 1: in the playoffs was typical of what happened a few
[37:50] Speaker 1: times in the season.
[37:51] Speaker 2: Usually he'd get out of it.
[37:53] Speaker 1: When he would get into a funk, it's like he
[37:56] Speaker 1: it's like he had a hard time getting out of it.
[37:58] Speaker 1: Like you could almost you could see it his face
[38:00] Speaker 1: a little bit, but you could see it in his
[38:01] Speaker 1: play where you know they say with Sam Donald, oh
[38:04] Speaker 1: he leaves a bad places behind him on to the
[38:06] Speaker 1: next play. I didn't get I felt like Stroud got
[38:09] Speaker 1: streaky in a bad way last year, But people are
[38:12] Speaker 1: ignoring all the good streaks too.
[38:14] Speaker 3: Yeah, And I think that is instructive in that that
[38:17] Speaker 3: was a thing that was said about Sam Donald, Yeah,
[38:19] Speaker 3: who one time lamented the things he was seeing on
[38:22] Speaker 3: the field, and it became like the thing about Sam Donald.
[38:26] Speaker 3: But we've seen that a Sam Donald quarterback can literally
[38:29] Speaker 3: win the super Bowl with the team around him is correct.
[38:31] Speaker 3: And if CJ plays to the extent that CJ. Stroud
[38:35] Speaker 3: has in the past with this team and this defense,
[38:38] Speaker 3: that the Texans will be fine. I think we've gone
[38:40] Speaker 3: too far. I agree collect I'm included in that in
[38:45] Speaker 3: going back and trying to figure out which textan is underrated,
[38:47] Speaker 3: and I'm scrolling through looking at PFF, I'm looking at Madden,
[38:50] Speaker 3: and I'm seeing where CJ. Stroud was, And you go
[38:53] Speaker 3: back and look and think about it, it's he's underrated.
[38:57] Speaker 1: I still have him as a top fifteen quarterback in
[38:59] Speaker 1: the NFL. I'd take him over Sam Darnold, who just
[39:01] Speaker 1: won the Super Bowl. I'm going Josh Downs as my
[39:04] Speaker 1: next pick, the slot receiver for the Indianapolis Colts.
[39:10] Speaker 2: Look, his raw numbers are good.
[39:12] Speaker 1: He's got almost two thousand yards in three seasons, which
[39:15] Speaker 1: is very good for a third round pick. He got
[39:18] Speaker 1: over one hundred targets in twenty twenty four. It was
[39:21] Speaker 1: his best kind of counting stat seasons. But to me,
[39:24] Speaker 1: he's better on tape than he is as a player.
[39:28] Speaker 1: No one converted last season more third downs, and this
[39:33] Speaker 1: is where he missed a lot of games too. Where
[39:35] Speaker 1: he received the ball short of the sticks and then
[39:38] Speaker 1: converted a first down. Then Josh freaking first down. He
[39:44] Speaker 1: was the third highest volume in terms of targets in
[39:47] Speaker 1: the entire league on third downs. The two guys ahead
[39:51] Speaker 1: of him were improbably on the same team, Pukakua and
[39:55] Speaker 1: DeVante Adams, which just shows you, like, literally a.
[39:57] Speaker 3: Two man offense pretty effective.
[40:00] Speaker 2: That's crazy. So everyone knows it's going to Josh Downs.
[40:04] Speaker 1: You can't cover him high volume, and the after catchability
[40:08] Speaker 1: is just fantastic, which I think the first stat points out.
[40:12] Speaker 1: In the right situation, I think he could have a
[40:14] Speaker 1: crazy great counting stat season, but he doesn't even need
[40:17] Speaker 1: to for me to just like recognize him as one
[40:20] Speaker 1: of the best slot receivers in the NFL.
[40:21] Speaker 3: And I think it explains some of the moves and
[40:25] Speaker 3: why they're able to do that, and the perception about
[40:27] Speaker 3: the MPG trade and the way the Colts are moving
[40:31] Speaker 3: is Josh Downs allows you to do that, and maybe
[40:33] Speaker 3: we you know, I got to stop with this week.
[40:36] Speaker 3: Maybe folks who generally perceive Josh Downs. I feel as
[40:40] Speaker 3: though the slot capacity you see Pierce and Pittman in
[40:44] Speaker 3: the size and the way that they can produce, and
[40:47] Speaker 3: Tyler Warren doing all these different things. It's like all
[40:49] Speaker 3: these guys are where it's base. But when you're getting
[40:51] Speaker 3: almost a third of third down targets going your way,
[40:55] Speaker 3: when you run around, it's.
[40:56] Speaker 1: The most important play in the game. That's who they're
[40:59] Speaker 1: going to is Josh Downs. I became a bigger fan
[41:03] Speaker 1: of him when Drake May was coming out, and I
[41:06] Speaker 1: went back to watch those two seasons, and I think
[41:08] Speaker 1: it is instructive that we always talk about quarterbacks making
[41:12] Speaker 1: receivers better, like Josh Downs made Drake May a lot
[41:15] Speaker 1: better and vice versa. When they were together, Drake May
[41:18] Speaker 1: was not the same player without Josh Downs. I don't
[41:20] Speaker 1: think Dana Jones would have been the same player last
[41:22] Speaker 1: year without Josh Downs. I think he helps out his
[41:24] Speaker 1: quarterbacks a great deal on money downs. All right, you
[41:27] Speaker 1: got the Jaguars, So looking at the Jacksonville Jaguwars, a
[41:30] Speaker 1: team that lost some talent as well, I don't feel
[41:33] Speaker 1: they are as good as they were last year. Maybe
[41:36] Speaker 1: I'm underrating them, but this is the antithesis of the
[41:41] Speaker 1: Trey Hendrickson take, where Travon Walker played pretty good in
[41:46] Speaker 1: rushing the pass, and again It's tough to say that
[41:48] Speaker 1: a player that was the number one overall pick in
[41:51] Speaker 1: the NFL draft is underrated. But there's this idea that
[41:55] Speaker 1: you know, he's only good against the run, where it's like, guys,
[41:58] Speaker 1: we got to pick something.
[41:59] Speaker 3: Either it's important or it's not important. But when he
[42:02] Speaker 3: was on the field, the Jags had a pressure of
[42:06] Speaker 3: thirty five percent of opposing quarterback dropbacks. When he was
[42:10] Speaker 3: off the field, it went down to twenty seven and
[42:12] Speaker 3: a half percent. The Jags were far and away the
[42:15] Speaker 3: number one run defense, where nobody had over one hundred
[42:19] Speaker 3: yards rushing against this team the entire season. They were great,
[42:23] Speaker 3: and he was a big part of that. And I
[42:24] Speaker 3: think he's a touch underrated.
[42:26] Speaker 2: I agree.
[42:28] Speaker 1: I think he really got caught because he's the number
[42:31] Speaker 1: one overall pick, but now he's graduated to the point
[42:34] Speaker 1: that he was a good number one overall pick. He
[42:38] Speaker 1: kind of reminds me of Jenevian Clowney in this sense.
[42:40] Speaker 1: It play style, athleticism, how he developed into his career
[42:45] Speaker 1: just below an all pro level, you know, but not
[42:48] Speaker 1: quite there.
[42:49] Speaker 2: The problem is multiple things can be true.
[42:51] Speaker 1: I actually think it was kind of an inspired and
[42:53] Speaker 1: good pick by Trent balk in a way that he
[42:55] Speaker 1: went number one overall and he actually is going to
[42:57] Speaker 1: be better than plenty of number one overall picks, and
[42:59] Speaker 1: it was still the wrong pick because there was a
[43:00] Speaker 1: better player that seemed more obvious available at the same position,
[43:03] Speaker 1: Aiden Hutchinson, that they passed on that best. Not Trayvon
[43:07] Speaker 1: Walker's fault, like if you put him, if you put
[43:10] Speaker 1: him number two or three, he would have had this
[43:11] Speaker 1: career and you'd be like, Yeah, that's that's an incredible
[43:14] Speaker 1: two or three pick. Like Trayvon Walker, I'm going Cedric Gray,
[43:20] Speaker 1: not CJ. I wrote he's so underrated. I wrote him
[43:23] Speaker 1: down as CJ. And my aforementioned son was looking at
[43:26] Speaker 1: my list and I was like, it's not CJ.
[43:29] Speaker 2: Gray, bro, it's Cedric Gray. So nice correction.
[43:31] Speaker 3: Then Seth Walker, it's not in there.
[43:34] Speaker 2: Pretty impressive second in the league and stops.
[43:37] Speaker 1: I'm talking about Cedric Gray and my son and my
[43:39] Speaker 1: son for the Titans. People probably don't even know that
[43:44] Speaker 1: off ball linebacker. Not a lot of carryover from last
[43:47] Speaker 1: year's Titans defense to this one, and I think they
[43:51] Speaker 1: have a keeper in Cedric dra Look, he was second
[43:54] Speaker 1: in the league in stops. Tackles and stops can be
[43:57] Speaker 1: a little misleading, but he was also extra high and
[44:00] Speaker 1: stop rate, so that's per snap that he was on
[44:04] Speaker 1: the field. Ultimately, it's like success rate as a defender,
[44:08] Speaker 1: did you prevent the opposing offense from having a successful play?
[44:12] Speaker 2: Depends on if it's first or second down.
[44:14] Speaker 1: Also very high in terms of tackles for loss and
[44:18] Speaker 1: just the guy that's uh seball, get ball pursuit linebacker.
[44:23] Speaker 1: To do that as a second year Day three guys
[44:26] Speaker 1: is really impressive. Or was he taken in the third
[44:28] Speaker 1: round like he was in the middle of that draft.
[44:30] Speaker 1: But as a second year guy, I think he's going
[44:33] Speaker 1: to get better. He's not all cleaned up in terms
[44:36] Speaker 1: of his you know, pass defense, but that's true of
[44:39] Speaker 1: basically all linebackers. Yeah, in the league, he could become
[44:43] Speaker 1: a star with Robert Sallas. I'm also kind of calling
[44:46] Speaker 1: my shot here that he's only going to get better
[44:48] Speaker 1: with a really good coach in Robert Sala.
[44:50] Speaker 3: And that's that's what a typical underrated player is. They
[44:54] Speaker 3: finally get the opportunity and who a guy who went
[44:57] Speaker 3: one oh six overalls fourth round pick. Okay for said
[45:00] Speaker 3: Gray and sky's the limit. Get Bob Zalla in there.
[45:04] Speaker 3: Start start. You know, you need to get diced up
[45:07] Speaker 3: at linebacker. But these guys are all put in conflict
[45:09] Speaker 3: all the time, especially in that division, and so.
[45:12] Speaker 1: Got to be next to Anthony Hill. I mean that
[45:14] Speaker 1: edible that is in an athletic intern You know, they
[45:18] Speaker 1: could get diced up a little bit. Hill's kind of
[45:20] Speaker 1: the more the in theory, a guy that's gonna really
[45:25] Speaker 1: play well in coverage. But we'll see that's going to
[45:28] Speaker 1: be a fun duo to watch and Sala's linebackers are
[45:31] Speaker 1: always fun to watch.
[45:32] Speaker 3: All right.
[45:32] Speaker 1: You are up with the Broncos wrapping up here with
[45:34] Speaker 1: the AFC West.
[45:35] Speaker 3: Yeah, and the Denver Broncos famously had an opportunity to
[45:38] Speaker 3: go to the Super Bowl. They beat the Buffalo Bills.
[45:43] Speaker 3: With an opportunity to go to that AFC Championship game,
[45:46] Speaker 3: they didn't have their quarterback d Kawan McMillan, who is
[45:48] Speaker 3: a seventy six A now according to our friends at Madden,
[45:52] Speaker 3: and again this is a difficult task to rate these players.
[45:56] Speaker 3: Thirty four snaps in the Division round against the Bills.
[45:58] Speaker 3: He was targeted three times, negative four yards, and he
[46:02] Speaker 3: got the interception in overtime. Even after the interception, we
[46:06] Speaker 3: can't get my man into the eighties. It seemed glaring
[46:09] Speaker 3: to me. I feel Jacon McMillan is underrated.
[46:12] Speaker 1: I was going back to that Bill's Broncos game for
[46:16] Speaker 1: another exercise we're going to do in quarterbacks, and I
[46:19] Speaker 1: was on Nate Tyson's show this week talking quarterbacks.
[46:21] Speaker 2: People should check that out.
[46:22] Speaker 1: And I remember, you know, like Josh Allen had a
[46:24] Speaker 1: few turnover where he plays in that game, but this
[46:27] Speaker 1: wasn't one of them, the interception that Jaqwan McMillan had,
[46:30] Speaker 1: because that was just a great defensive play by McMillan
[46:34] Speaker 1: to rip that ball away.
[46:35] Speaker 3: And all he didn't see right at all.
[46:39] Speaker 1: I love an undersize flot guy. I love a guy
[46:42] Speaker 1: who was kind of told by his coaches, hey, we're
[46:44] Speaker 1: probably not going to play you as much this year
[46:46] Speaker 1: because of the draft pick that we made Jeday Barron
[46:49] Speaker 1: first round pick, and he comes out and he just
[46:52] Speaker 1: earns his spot and he keeps that first round pick
[46:55] Speaker 1: mostly on the bench. They told us what they thought
[46:57] Speaker 1: of Jakewon McMillan. They were like, we can't take him
[46:59] Speaker 1: off the It's kind of why I was a curious
[47:02] Speaker 1: pick because he's been so good throughout, but you know,
[47:05] Speaker 1: can't ever have too many defents backs.
[47:07] Speaker 3: Yeah, upwards of seventy targets over the course of the season.
[47:10] Speaker 3: Zero touchdowns come on.
[47:11] Speaker 1: So they told us what they thought of McMillan by
[47:13] Speaker 1: his playing time. And that's my main take with Noel
[47:16] Speaker 1: Williams from the Chiefs. I'm not going to pretend that
[47:20] Speaker 1: like he stood out to me watching him each and
[47:24] Speaker 1: every snap, but in some high leverage spots against good teams,
[47:29] Speaker 1: including I can't remember that Bill's game, they trusted him
[47:33] Speaker 1: in a very similar way as an outside cornerback to
[47:36] Speaker 1: the way that they trusted Jalen Watson as a rookie
[47:39] Speaker 1: cornerback all through that Super Bowl run. And then they
[47:43] Speaker 1: told us what they thought of Noel Williams by the
[47:44] Speaker 1: way they acted this offseason. Yeat, you move up in
[47:47] Speaker 1: the draft for mansor Delane, Noah Williams is still locked
[47:50] Speaker 1: into that starting job right opposite him. I think they
[47:53] Speaker 1: entered this offseason thinking, Okay, Noel Williams is one of
[47:56] Speaker 1: our starters. How do we get that second starter next
[48:00] Speaker 1: to him? That's a mid round pick, and I trust
[48:03] Speaker 1: him you think I'm stretching here.
[48:04] Speaker 2: No, I know.
[48:05] Speaker 3: I like the idea of, like, you know what, the
[48:08] Speaker 3: Broncos We're like, we got to find somebody to go
[48:09] Speaker 3: on the other side of certain It's like, we got
[48:11] Speaker 3: to find somebody to go on the other side of
[48:13] Speaker 3: Nola Williams. But it's true. It's true.
[48:15] Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, maybe not thinking that way, but like
[48:18] Speaker 1: I think they looked there like, Okay, we saw enough.
[48:21] Speaker 1: He's our guy. He's gonna be our guy throughout this
[48:23] Speaker 1: Rickey contract. I just have kind of no doubt that
[48:26] Speaker 1: if Steve Spagnolo believes that he's the guy for the
[48:30] Speaker 1: next four or five years, then he will be the guy.
[48:33] Speaker 1: They've proven that they're going to be right about these things.
[48:36] Speaker 1: You got the Raiders.
[48:37] Speaker 3: Next, and this was a very difficult part of the exercise.
[48:41] Speaker 3: To me. I leaned towards discussing Ashton Genty and all
[48:46] Speaker 3: of the tackles behind the line of scrimmage, but I
[48:47] Speaker 3: decided to go with Trey Tucker. Okay, Greg, who is
[48:50] Speaker 3: a seventy eight overall according to our friends on Madden,
[48:55] Speaker 3: Trey Tucker has consistently been explosive. In Week three, we
[49:00] Speaker 3: had you know, eight catches for one hundred and forty
[49:03] Speaker 3: five yards in three touchdowns. That was a significant portion
[49:07] Speaker 3: of the Las Vegas raiders receiving totals for the season.
[49:11] Speaker 3: In Week three, when like there was you know, they
[49:13] Speaker 3: beat the Patriots, there was this idea that they may
[49:15] Speaker 3: be some sort of viable football team. They weren't, and
[49:19] Speaker 3: I had to pick someone purely, I had to pick someone.
[49:22] Speaker 3: I went with Trade Tucker because the team was miserable.
[49:25] Speaker 1: He's the rare NFL player that makes everyone else look slow.
[49:29] Speaker 1: If you're checking us out on YouTube, you're seeing some
[49:31] Speaker 1: after the catchability. You're seeing some tough throw catchability, some
[49:36] Speaker 1: plays at like, look, he's not going to break a
[49:38] Speaker 1: ton of tackles at his size, but his speed just
[49:41] Speaker 1: jumps off the screen. There's not that many receivers that
[49:43] Speaker 1: actually have different speed. There's only like, i'd say, like
[49:47] Speaker 1: fifteen of them in the NFL. I think Tray Tucker
[49:50] Speaker 1: is in that group, just a pure, pure, like kind
[49:53] Speaker 1: of make the defense panic speed hit.
[49:56] Speaker 3: Eighteen miles an hour on thirty nine routes of this season.
[49:59] Speaker 3: It was the third most in the NFL. Playing for
[50:01] Speaker 3: playing for a team where you don't have a lot
[50:04] Speaker 3: of opportunities to hit eighteen miles an hour. Like frankly,
[50:07] Speaker 3: you had Gino doing weird stuff back there, and the
[50:09] Speaker 3: protection not necessarily being NFL caliber protection players, but just
[50:16] Speaker 3: implementation all the way through. Similar to the fan and
[50:19] Speaker 3: thing where people produce despite the situation around them being miserable.
[50:24] Speaker 3: Trey Tucker did that.
[50:25] Speaker 1: I kind of like that fit too, because I was thinking, like,
[50:27] Speaker 1: Trey Tucker is one of those guys. If he was
[50:29] Speaker 1: a role player on a great team, he'd be very famous.
[50:32] Speaker 1: And I have no doubt he would be a really
[50:35] Speaker 1: effective role player for a team like the forty nine
[50:38] Speaker 1: Ers or the Rams or something.
[50:39] Speaker 3: Around that, Like Grams have been looking for Trey Tucker
[50:41] Speaker 3: for years.
[50:42] Speaker 1: Right, and then everyone be like, Trey Tucker is awesome.
[50:45] Speaker 1: I'm going Chargers next. And I was bullied into taking
[50:50] Speaker 1: a player that the average fan, you know, would recognize
[50:55] Speaker 1: more that we have b role for that. You can
[50:58] Speaker 1: see the vision. But I'm not going to be bullied
[51:01] Speaker 1: on my own show.
[51:03] Speaker 3: It was needless.
[51:04] Speaker 2: Tierre Tart is the man. Tier Tart is so good.
[51:08] Speaker 1: At defensive tackle that they had to give a big contract. Okay,
[51:10] Speaker 1: I was bullied. I'm sneaking to it. My two guys
[51:13] Speaker 1: were Tierre Tart, who capably replaced Punaford a little different,
[51:16] Speaker 1: more of a pressure back. Please on this he goes,
[51:19] Speaker 1: Please go with the running backs.
[51:21] Speaker 4: I was going to play though, Marion Hampton b roll
[51:24] Speaker 4: over you talking about Tierre Tart anyways? Like this whatever,
[51:27] Speaker 4: people get to see it because I cut it.
[51:28] Speaker 2: It is cool.
[51:29] Speaker 1: Let's see some o Marion Hampton b roll because it
[51:32] Speaker 1: is awesome. I think he is underrated, especially.
[51:35] Speaker 3: With the Mic mac influence. He's going to be much
[51:37] Speaker 3: better than he was.
[51:40] Speaker 1: Not usually my style of player either. I really like
[51:42] Speaker 1: the short area of quickness, like the guys who can
[51:45] Speaker 1: make you miss in a in a in a phone
[51:47] Speaker 1: booth as they would say.
[51:48] Speaker 2: And Hampton isn't that guy. But what he has.
[51:54] Speaker 1: Almost as much as like anyone for this skill set,
[51:57] Speaker 1: since Derrick Henry is a common nation of Oh my god,
[52:02] Speaker 1: he is going to run your ass over if you're
[52:06] Speaker 1: in the secondary. There were some plays like paulsonadebo Javon
[52:10] Speaker 1: Holland in that in that giant scheme, where like he
[52:12] Speaker 1: is just going to make you look like a small
[52:14] Speaker 1: person and run you over. Combining that with the with
[52:17] Speaker 1: the bad angle, just breakaway speed. He obviously doesn't have
[52:22] Speaker 1: the size that Derrick Henry has, but I think he
[52:25] Speaker 1: can have like a Derrick Henry style of play that
[52:29] Speaker 1: gets him to some Pro Bowls with some major yards,
[52:32] Speaker 1: because that's it's actually a pretty rare quality to have
[52:35] Speaker 1: the run over you and big playability that that he has.
[52:38] Speaker 3: Yeah, because there's that moment of conflict where you're trying
[52:41] Speaker 3: to figure out how to get this person down. Obviously,
[52:43] Speaker 3: Derrick Henry he's had, He's still armed a million people,
[52:46] Speaker 3: and that's like the fifth time that a tackler is
[52:49] Speaker 3: trying to figure out how to tackle Derrick Henry. Uh.
[52:51] Speaker 3: And for Mari and Hampton, it's similar in that, like
[52:54] Speaker 3: the way we see Jamar Chase break all these tackles
[52:57] Speaker 3: where he's explosive, but he's also larger and so the
[53:00] Speaker 3: arm contact isn't doing what it normally does to people
[53:04] Speaker 3: because force sequels mass times acceleration, and so like Hampton's
[53:09] Speaker 3: out the gate. That's why I'm so excited to see
[53:11] Speaker 3: him in an offense that has spacing and like planning
[53:14] Speaker 3: to it where I'm excited about what the charge have you.
[53:17] Speaker 1: Been tracking average draft position or anything like that. How
[53:20] Speaker 1: people are seeing Hampton. Where's Hampton at these days?
[53:23] Speaker 3: ADP wise and again like a post draft ADP tends
[53:28] Speaker 3: to be a little bit different. Sixteen, he's overall sixteen.
[53:33] Speaker 3: He's got RB ten right now. I think that goes
[53:36] Speaker 3: up as we get closer praise. Maybe hopefully we get
[53:41] Speaker 3: to have fantasy preseason shows. Hopefully the fantasy show exists
[53:44] Speaker 3: in some capacity. But I think we're going to talk
[53:47] Speaker 3: him up in leap frog Guys like Saquan you know
[53:52] Speaker 3: where you don't necessarily know what the Eagles offense is
[53:55] Speaker 3: going to look like McCaffrey, JT, Jamir Bajon, that's gonna
[53:59] Speaker 3: be lock solid. But Lamarin Hampton gets to this place
[54:02] Speaker 3: where you're in that you thinking about the RB dead
[54:05] Speaker 3: zone kind of starting where it's like, am I getting
[54:07] Speaker 3: the value here? Maybe I'll go a wide receiver. I
[54:10] Speaker 3: think you can still get good RB value with Omark.
[54:13] Speaker 1: He just has to prove that he can stay on
[54:15] Speaker 1: the field and stay healthy because like those broken tackles
[54:18] Speaker 1: I talked about, for instance, against the Giants, it was
[54:21] Speaker 1: it was kind of a joke, like Paulsinadibo, Javon Hiland
[54:23] Speaker 1: and Tyler Newman, Like they literally can't tackle him.
[54:26] Speaker 2: He's just too big for them. He just runs right
[54:27] Speaker 2: over him.
[54:28] Speaker 1: But sometimes he just puts his head down and literally
[54:30] Speaker 1: runs right over them.
[54:31] Speaker 2: And so he's gonna take a pounding.
[54:34] Speaker 1: If you told me, if there is a world where
[54:36] Speaker 1: you're you're drafting everyone for fantasy and you're telling me
[54:38] Speaker 1: everyone gets fifteen games midimum, I think he's a top
[54:43] Speaker 1: five or six pick like that that I am. I
[54:45] Speaker 1: am loving him on the turn in fantasy drafts. I
[54:48] Speaker 1: just think he could be a two thousand yard type
[54:50] Speaker 1: of guy. It doesn't take long for these these running
[54:53] Speaker 1: backs in two thousand yards from scrimmage.
[54:56] Speaker 3: And dynasty folks are obsessed with getting in early and
[54:59] Speaker 3: they're gonna I want, Oh, it's going to be Jeremiah
[55:01] Speaker 3: Love and all of these situations of Iron Hampton's been
[55:04] Speaker 3: in the league one year, Like, you're not losing the value.
[55:06] Speaker 3: You need to win now. I think winning is important
[55:09] Speaker 3: in fantasy football. Yeah, you want to prioritize in dynasty
[55:12] Speaker 3: down the road. You'd also like to win now because
[55:14] Speaker 3: it is a season that you were playing as well.
[55:16] Speaker 3: And I think Jeremiah Love like being closer. There is
[55:18] Speaker 3: a little fraudulent.
[55:19] Speaker 1: Ooh, well, fraudulent just because of the situation. I agree
[55:25] Speaker 1: long term, I get it though, I mean, he's pretty special.
[55:28] Speaker 3: No, he's a special player the franchise. And I recognize
[55:33] Speaker 3: we're talking about the Chargers. I feel a whole lot
[55:35] Speaker 3: better about the twenty twenty six Los Angeles Chargers than
[55:39] Speaker 3: I do about the Airs.
[55:40] Speaker 1: I think that's a fair take, A lot of fair takes.
[55:42] Speaker 1: Love the underrated players that you pick. Patrick, you'll be
[55:46] Speaker 1: back next week.
[55:49] Speaker 3: Hey, I love the opportunity to do this show with you, Greck,
[55:53] Speaker 3: and I hope nobody ever takes it away.
[55:56] Speaker 1: I could not agree with you more, and I feel
[55:59] Speaker 1: good about I feel good. Clay Ban to the Moon, Claymates,
[56:04] Speaker 1: the clay Bon Vivans.
[56:05] Speaker 3: It's not the name of the show, baby.
[56:08] Speaker 1: All the all the clay Bon fans are excited. They
[56:11] Speaker 1: should be excited about our next show too. I mean,
[56:13] Speaker 1: the shook ones out there can't get enough of Shook.
[56:15] Speaker 2: It's a two shook week. We're back on Wednesday.
[56:18] Speaker 3: Let's let's third yourself. Why shook
