[0:04] Speaker 1: Welcome to NFL Daily, where we don't believe in jet lag.
[0:08] Speaker 1: My name is Greg Rosenthal. I'm in the Chris Wesleyan
[0:11] Speaker 1: podcast studio with Colleen Wolfe, who definitely knows where she
[0:18] Speaker 1: is right now. Totally.
[0:20] Speaker 2: I'm not having any problems thinking about where I am
[0:25] Speaker 2: using words or dealing with my eye. I was going
[0:28] Speaker 2: to say my eyelash twitching. Nope, it's my eyelid that's twitching.
[0:31] Speaker 1: Just twitching. We don't know what's going on with Colleen.
[0:34] Speaker 1: We do know she missed her initial flight back from London.
[0:40] Speaker 1: after two hours of sleep.
[0:42] Speaker 2: Well it's not like i was out partying it's that
[0:45] Speaker 2: he throws a disaster and i there was not enough
[0:49] Speaker 2: time to get to the airport to get onto the
[0:52] Speaker 2: flight so i got on another flight and we're good
[0:54] Speaker 2: i have not been in the city of los angeles
[0:57] Speaker 2: for more than 24 hours but i'm here to do
[1:00] Speaker 2: the pod with you greg and can i.
[1:02] Speaker 3: Just say real quick Yeah. That game in London.
[1:05] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[1:06] Speaker 3: The crowd. I've done a lot of the international games.
[1:09] Speaker 2: I've done a lot of international games at Tottenham Hotspur
[1:12] Speaker 2: Stadium in London. That was the strangest crowd situation.
[1:17] Speaker 1: Strange.
[1:18] Speaker 3: And those are my people, Eagles fans. It was packed
[1:20] Speaker 3: with Eagles fans. It was the Eagles fans.
[1:24] Speaker 1: They are.
[1:24] Speaker 2: I love them and I can see myself in them.
[1:29] Speaker 2: It was the most ornery crowd I've ever experienced in
[1:32] Speaker 2: my life. Usually it's like a party atmosphere at the
[1:35] Speaker 2: international games, but The Eagles fans did not want to
[1:38] Speaker 2: play along. They did not want to cheer. It was
[1:42] Speaker 2: really difficult to get anything going because also it was
[1:45] Speaker 2: a Jags home game, so we had to talk about
[1:48] Speaker 2: the fact that it was a Jags home game.
[1:49] Speaker 1: Yeah, but the Eagles were being spicy and leading for
[1:52] Speaker 1: so much of it.
[1:53] Speaker 2: So even when the Eagles were winning, I could, it
[1:56] Speaker 2: was Eagles fans did not want to cheer.
[1:58] Speaker 3: I think because they're angry at the team.
[2:01] Speaker 2: So they didn't want to cheer the team, but they
[2:03] Speaker 2: also didn't want them to lose. So it was like
[2:06] Speaker 2: a really weird spot for them to be in. I
[2:08] Speaker 2: couldn't even like when I asked them to boo, they booed.
[2:10] Speaker 2: So that's like, okay, I got.
[2:12] Speaker 3: Something out of them, but it was really difficult.
[2:15] Speaker 2: And like, And then at one point we lost power
[2:19] Speaker 2: in not like the lights didn't go out, but we
[2:22] Speaker 2: lost the ability to like play music and have like the, um,
[2:26] Speaker 2: the PA announced like the plays and stuff because somebody
[2:29] Speaker 2: plugged in.
[2:30] Speaker 3: Their computer and shorted.
[2:33] Speaker 2: So then for a while, it was just silent in
[2:35] Speaker 2: there with like lots of angry Eagles fans.
[2:38] Speaker 3: And it was just a really interesting experience.
[2:41] Speaker 1: And yes, you famously an Eagles fan yourself. Yes. And
[2:45] Speaker 1: you are in charge of the breaks.
[2:49] Speaker 3: I'm a hype man.
[2:50] Speaker 1: You're at the stadium on the big screen. It's Colleen asking...
[2:57] Speaker 1: For booze. Yeah. Wait, someone, it really, are you joking
[3:00] Speaker 1: that someone plugged in their computer and that was the problem?
[3:03] Speaker 3: It actually happened.
[3:03] Speaker 1: It's going to age me, but that's like, it's almost
[3:05] Speaker 1: like a scene from airplane where they just like unplug things. Um,
[3:08] Speaker 1: that's incredible. They must've been going crazy when they hit
[3:13] Speaker 1: the field goal to take the lead because, and we're
[3:16] Speaker 1: going to get into the Eagles situation a little bit more,
[3:20] Speaker 1: but why not? We're here. It's fine. The loose show.
[3:22] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[3:23] Speaker 4: Podcast.
[3:25] Speaker 1: That could have been one of the best moments of
[3:28] Speaker 1: Nick Sirianni's tenure. And so they must have been crazy.
[3:33] Speaker 1: But the whiplash from the game-winning field goal to the
[3:38] Speaker 1: other game-winning field goal, what was that like for you
[3:42] Speaker 1: in the stadium?
[3:43] Speaker 3: I I don't I'm I still have not recovered from it.
[3:48] Speaker 2: And because we left our our area that we were
[3:51] Speaker 2: in for the majority of the game and then we
[3:53] Speaker 2: went and sat up with like the house band. So
[3:56] Speaker 2: that was like a little bit more of a lively section.
[3:58] Speaker 2: And there was this one Jags fan who was just
[4:00] Speaker 2: surrounded by all of these Eagles fans. And he the
[4:03] Speaker 2: whole time, like he came over and he's like, oh,
[4:06] Speaker 2: I love he loves the pod, whatever. And the Jags
[4:10] Speaker 2: at that point were like up. But then when the
[4:14] Speaker 2: Eagles kicked the field goal, I'm pointing at him and
[4:17] Speaker 2: he's like, oh, no.
[4:18] Speaker 3: And then, of course, when.
[4:20] Speaker 2: The Jags kicked the game winning field goal. He's pointing
[4:23] Speaker 2: at me and I'm like, you're outnumbered.
[4:25] Speaker 3: Everybody get him. So it was, I feel like I
[4:28] Speaker 3: had to be escorted out of the stadium.
[4:30] Speaker 1: It doesn't, it doesn't surprise me. That is, that is fascinating.
[4:33] Speaker 1: And yeah, I do love that there's now like a
[4:36] Speaker 1: long enough history there that the fans there get a
[4:39] Speaker 1: different personality. And it depends on the game. Look, the
[4:41] Speaker 1: Jaguars had to go silent snap count on offense because
[4:44] Speaker 1: the Eagles fans were loud enough once I think they
[4:47] Speaker 1: started getting into the game. And the Eagles fans, as
[4:49] Speaker 1: we've seen at Super Bowls, travel probably better than anyone
[4:52] Speaker 1: else in terms of.
[4:53] Speaker 2: Yeah, Eagles fans affect the game.
[4:56] Speaker 1: Great job. That's really working out for you. We're going
[4:58] Speaker 1: to get into that. We're going to talk. We're going
[5:02] Speaker 1: to do some would you rathers.
[5:03] Speaker 2: Okay.
[5:03] Speaker 1: After week five of the season, a lot's going on.
[5:06] Speaker 1: We're also going to hit some news, some fallout of
[5:10] Speaker 1: that Rams-Bills classic.
[5:13] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[5:13] Speaker 1: Are we ready to call it a classic?
[5:15] Speaker 3: It felt like a classic.
[5:16] Speaker 1: It's very memorable. Did have 24 penalties, but you know,
[5:20] Speaker 1: the last two MVPs and just nonstop touchdowns. And then
[5:23] Speaker 1: the game ends. We were not aware. We're taping the
[5:26] Speaker 1: postgame show. And Alaric Jackson gets involved in something that
[5:31] Speaker 1: could get him suspended. We have some injury news. That's
[5:33] Speaker 1: all going to come up later on the show. We
[5:34] Speaker 1: also will do a TNF preview of a really interesting
[5:38] Speaker 1: TNF game between the Broncos and the Seahawks. But let's
[5:40] Speaker 1: start with the would you rathers. This could be anything. Great.
[5:43] Speaker 1: This could be stupid. I guess. Why don't you go first?
[5:46] Speaker 1: All right. It's a little Eagles related.
[5:47] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[5:48] Speaker 1: You know what?
[5:48] Speaker 2: We'll get this one out of the way. Greg, would
[5:52] Speaker 2: you rather. Be forced to watch all 70 minutes.
[5:56] Speaker 1: All of them.
[5:57] Speaker 2: We're not doing like condensed version on Game Pass or
[6:00] Speaker 2: anything like that. Okay. All 70 minutes of the Giants-Commanders
[6:03] Speaker 2: tie again.
[6:05] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[6:06] Speaker 2: Or be forced to explain the Eagles' final kickoff decision
[6:10] Speaker 2: to an entire room of Philadelphia fans.
[6:12] Speaker 3: Which one would be a better scenario?
[6:15] Speaker 1: Now, I did watch the condensed version. I think I
[6:19] Speaker 1: would do that because I don't want to be in
[6:21] Speaker 1: a room with you people. And it is hard to explain.
[6:25] Speaker 1: It is hard to explain because I heard another one
[6:28] Speaker 1: of your compatriots, another Eagles fan who's in the media,
[6:31] Speaker 1: Shiel Kapadia, try to explain. And this is what I thought,
[6:35] Speaker 1: but I didn't have the guts to like make this
[6:37] Speaker 1: case that I don't think it was like, that bad
[6:40] Speaker 1: a decision what Nick Sirianni did at the end of
[6:42] Speaker 1: the game. You should have done a better job maybe
[6:44] Speaker 1: trying to drain the clock and there's a play where
[6:46] Speaker 1: the guy goes out of bounds and stuff. Mm-hmm. It
[6:50] Speaker 1: felt a little closer to 50-50 to me in terms
[6:53] Speaker 1: of making that kickoff. But to be in the room
[6:56] Speaker 1: with the Eagles fans, I've been trying to work out more. Okay.
[7:00] Speaker 1: You know, with Steven, the trainer.
[7:01] Speaker 3: Just preparing for this.
[7:02] Speaker 1: But I would be outnumbered, frankly. And I'm a sicko.
[7:05] Speaker 1: I love football. There was a lot going on in
[7:07] Speaker 1: that Giants-Commanders game. It was kind of fun. It was
[7:09] Speaker 1: kind of fun.
[7:10] Speaker 2: Right.
[7:10] Speaker 3: But you did choose to watch the condensed version.
[7:13] Speaker 1: Yes. Well, it would have taken like four hours of
[7:15] Speaker 1: my life. So many plays and so much Jameis Winston.
[7:20] Speaker 1: And like, yeah, I'm going Eagles.
[7:23] Speaker 2: I can't believe every single team lost. But then seeing
[7:27] Speaker 2: the way that everybody... Nobody got a win. Not everybody lost.
[7:31] Speaker 3: That's right.
[7:31] Speaker 1: Hold on.
[7:31] Speaker 2: Let me rewind back. It's just that no one won
[7:34] Speaker 2: in the NFC East.
[7:35] Speaker 1: You know what? If Dan Quinn agrees with you, he
[7:39] Speaker 1: kept referring on the podium on Monday to like, yeah,
[7:43] Speaker 1: I'm just like, you know, I'm sorry. Like, I understand
[7:45] Speaker 1: how they feel after a loss like that. It's not
[7:47] Speaker 1: going to hurt. And no one's even correcting him. So
[7:49] Speaker 1: he doesn't even know. Well, let's actually listen to Dan
[7:53] Speaker 1: Quinn on the day after this story happened. has been
[7:58] Speaker 1: gold for like the local reporters, even the national reporters.
[8:01] Speaker 1: Like some stories, I remember the fail Mary back in
[8:03] Speaker 1: the day with Russell Wilson, that game just doesn't matter
[8:07] Speaker 1: how many stories you put out. Like people are reading
[8:09] Speaker 1: this and are fascinating. So people have been trying to
[8:11] Speaker 1: figure out what happened. Let's listen to Dan Quinn on
[8:15] Speaker 1: the day after.
[8:15] Speaker 4: Okay.
[8:16] Speaker 1: It was a breakdown that it can't happen.
[8:18] Speaker 5: And, uh, our time today as a team was spent
[8:21] Speaker 5: on the how and the why and make sure that
[8:23] Speaker 5: it never does again. So, Yesterday's ending was the biggest example,
[8:28] Speaker 5: but we've got a lot of shit to clean up
[8:29] Speaker 5: on from yesterday's game. And trust me, everyone in this building,
[8:33] Speaker 5: starting with me, feels that urgency.
[8:35] Speaker 3: Yeah, I think the entire division is in the same boat.
[8:39] Speaker 1: John Harbaugh is the one that's happy, which is funny,
[8:43] Speaker 1: but they were down two touchdowns twice in the, like
[8:47] Speaker 1: once in the fourth quarter, once late in the third quarter,
[8:50] Speaker 1: you're down with nine points in a rainstorm down to
[8:53] Speaker 1: touchdowns with Jameis Winston as your quarterback that almost got
[8:57] Speaker 1: Dan Quinn off the hook of like his defense completely
[8:59] Speaker 1: collapsed and turned Jameis Winston into like Johnny Unitas or something.
[9:05] Speaker 1: I listened to some of the, like a local podcast
[9:07] Speaker 1: actually on the way in today. Okay. I'll take command. I've,
[9:09] Speaker 1: I've shouted out a lot, but I think it's one
[9:11] Speaker 1: of the best that goes over like the tape and
[9:13] Speaker 1: the film. And, but they were trying to talk about
[9:14] Speaker 1: that situation. The longer that they've explained it, I do
[9:18] Speaker 1: sort of get what happened, which is they called the
[9:21] Speaker 1: play and the biggest mistake they made was substituting the
[9:25] Speaker 1: players in. And then it took Jane Daniels forever to
[9:29] Speaker 1: get the playoff. When they called that play, they are
[9:32] Speaker 1: thinking we're going to snap the ball maybe with like
[9:36] Speaker 1: 35 seconds to go. And everyone is just taking time.
[9:38] Speaker 1: So I think Jane Daniels did a bad job probably
[9:41] Speaker 1: telling everyone what to do after each and every play.
[9:44] Speaker 1: And at a certain point, you would have had to things.
[9:47] Speaker 1: But it's probably more on that first time offensive coordinator
[9:50] Speaker 1: like sending in substitutes and like no one knew. I mean,
[9:53] Speaker 1: the other teammates didn't know. It's never happened. Someone did
[9:56] Speaker 1: go back and look to see.
[9:57] Speaker 3: Never ever.
[9:58] Speaker 1: If a team inside the 25 yard line in the
[10:02] Speaker 1: final minute of a tie game, like in overtime, like
[10:06] Speaker 1: ever just didn't even get like a game winning field
[10:08] Speaker 1: goal kickoff. Like this never happened.
[10:10] Speaker 2: I mean, they wouldn't, they just completely missed their opportunity
[10:14] Speaker 2: to win the game.
[10:14] Speaker 3: And it was right there on a tee.
[10:17] Speaker 1: Like, If that happened in a high school game, they
[10:21] Speaker 1: made this comparison on the show. If that may happen
[10:23] Speaker 1: in a high school game, you're going into the athletic
[10:26] Speaker 1: director's office and you might get fired. Or... You're going
[10:30] Speaker 1: to be in hot water. And people have been calling
[10:32] Speaker 1: for Dan Quinn to be fired. I think that's stupid.
[10:34] Speaker 3: That might be a little much.
[10:37] Speaker 1: How is that going to help them? It's not. This year.
[10:39] Speaker 1: They're also one loss or one and a half losses,
[10:42] Speaker 1: I guess, out of first place. They outplayed the Giants
[10:45] Speaker 1: for most of that game. They were so close to
[10:47] Speaker 1: being one game back in the worst division in football.
[10:50] Speaker 2: I feel like that game actually gave Nick Sirianni a
[10:54] Speaker 2: little bit of cover.
[10:55] Speaker 5: Yes.
[10:56] Speaker 1: I was saying that for a while, uh, Drake may
[10:59] Speaker 1: would like Justin Herbert is loving Drake May right now.
[11:02] Speaker 1: Cause everyone is just paying attention to Drake May. Now
[11:04] Speaker 1: that's not happening again. We're paying attention to Justin Herbert.
[11:06] Speaker 4: Sorry.
[11:06] Speaker 1: All right. I'll go and give you just a stupid one. Um,
[11:11] Speaker 1: would you rather call plays? And this is you, Colleen Wolf. You,
[11:15] Speaker 1: you can do as much research as you want and
[11:16] Speaker 1: get help. But in the end, you have to go
[11:18] Speaker 1: on the sideline and call the plays on a Sunday.
[11:21] Speaker 2: Okay.
[11:23] Speaker 1: In the NFL against a Brian Flores defense, you're the
[11:27] Speaker 1: offensive coordinator or you're the defensive coordinator and you have
[11:32] Speaker 1: to call the plays against a Kyle Shanahan offense.
[11:36] Speaker 3: I don't want to go against Brian Flores.
[11:38] Speaker 1: Okay.
[11:38] Speaker 3: And it's that easy. It's that simple.
[11:39] Speaker 2: I don't want to put any of my players through
[11:43] Speaker 2: what the wrath that Kyle is unleashed upon an offense
[11:47] Speaker 2: and upon an offensive line and a quarterback from Brian Flores.
[11:51] Speaker 3: He is unconventional.
[11:53] Speaker 2: He does not care what anyone else thinks, what anyone
[11:56] Speaker 2: thinks about his blitz rate. He's just going to go
[12:00] Speaker 2: and he's going to go so hard. He goes ham
[12:03] Speaker 2: every single game. And that's not something I want to.
[12:06] Speaker 3: Be a part of.
[12:07] Speaker 1: I do think it does go. I agree with you.
[12:09] Speaker 1: It's a human nature thing, too. There is something more
[12:11] Speaker 1: embarrassing about for your offense to just get steamrolled and brutalized.
[12:16] Speaker 1: There's something physical about it. Whereas if you're just giving
[12:20] Speaker 1: up a ton of points, you can be like, everyone
[12:23] Speaker 1: does that against the Kyle Shanahan. It wouldn't feel good
[12:25] Speaker 1: to give up 50 points. How much worse do you
[12:29] Speaker 1: think the defense would do if you're calling plays versus
[12:32] Speaker 1: a professional? Um, I think it would, I think it'd
[12:36] Speaker 1: be drastic.
[12:37] Speaker 3: It really would. I'm not, I'm not claiming to be good.
[12:39] Speaker 1: I mean, I'm saying the same would be the same
[12:41] Speaker 1: for me. It would be tough.
[12:42] Speaker 2: But the thing with the Brian Flores defense against any
[12:46] Speaker 2: offense is.
[12:47] Speaker 3: Normally with an offense, you're, you're attacking.
[12:51] Speaker 2: You're the one that is like calling the shots and
[12:54] Speaker 2: like kind of dictating the game.
[12:55] Speaker 3: And the defense is like reading and reacting.
[12:58] Speaker 2: Whereas Flores, With a Brian Flores defense, I almost feel
[13:00] Speaker 2: like it's the other way around.
[13:01] Speaker 3: Like they are the attackers.
[13:04] Speaker 1: Great call.
[13:04] Speaker 2: And you are just sort of trying to get around
[13:06] Speaker 2: them and make something work.
[13:08] Speaker 1: We're five games in. But look, they're on a winning
[13:11] Speaker 1: streak that goes back pretty deep into the end of
[13:13] Speaker 1: last season. Yeah. They have much tougher games coming up. Bills,
[13:17] Speaker 1: Niners are on their schedule, for instance. So the numbers
[13:20] Speaker 1: won't stay as crazy, but they do have a chance
[13:21] Speaker 1: to be like an all-time defense. You know where else
[13:25] Speaker 1: you don't want to go against Brian Flores?
[13:26] Speaker 2: Where?
[13:27] Speaker 1: In court. uh, discrimination lawsuits stuff coming up. Yeah. He's
[13:30] Speaker 1: tough against the NFL and multiple teams. This is a
[13:33] Speaker 1: related one. This is just like more of a small
[13:35] Speaker 1: sort of Vegas type prediction. Would you rather right now,
[13:39] Speaker 1: like own a ticket? We're not allowed to do this,
[13:42] Speaker 1: but this is just, okay. You know, is this a trap?
[13:45] Speaker 1: Am I getting fired? I'm just saying, uh, a ticket
[13:48] Speaker 1: holding the Vikings as the NFC North champions at the
[13:52] Speaker 1: end of the season or someone else in the rest
[13:54] Speaker 1: of the division, or you could just have the whole
[13:55] Speaker 1: rest of the division even.
[13:57] Speaker 2: Ooh.
[13:59] Speaker 3: Okay, hold on.
[14:01] Speaker 1: Packers, Lions, and Bears are all two games back. So basically,
[14:05] Speaker 1: what do you think?
[14:06] Speaker 2: I want to look at all of their schedules is
[14:08] Speaker 2: the problem right now. And that feels like I would
[14:10] Speaker 2: like to go into the weeds.
[14:11] Speaker 1: They're similar. They're all in the same division. But the
[14:14] Speaker 1: Vikings schedule is a little bit better. I think they
[14:16] Speaker 1: have a third place schedule.
[14:18] Speaker 2: Really?
[14:19] Speaker 3: Okay.
[14:19] Speaker 1: A little better.
[14:20] Speaker 2: You know what?
[14:21] Speaker 1: Shoot.
[14:21] Speaker 3: I'll take the Vikings.
[14:22] Speaker 1: Okay. Yeah. Why not? I was wondering about that. I checked.
[14:25] Speaker 1: They are the favorites right now. Are they? It's not shocking.
[14:29] Speaker 1: They are the favorites in the division. I think if
[14:31] Speaker 1: you got all three other teams, you know, then you
[14:34] Speaker 1: would probably be the favorite. But I feel like we
[14:38] Speaker 1: haven't really thought about like, huh, an improving Kyler Murray. Yeah.
[14:43] Speaker 1: They're doing this skull champ, by the way, in New Orleans,
[14:48] Speaker 1: kneeling out the ball. On the day that they put
[14:52] Speaker 1: Drew Brees' name on the Ring of Honor, it was
[14:55] Speaker 1: an incredible ceremony. You cannot embarrass this organization, Mickey Loomis,
[15:00] Speaker 1: any more than the Saints have the last two weeks.
[15:02] Speaker 2: No.
[15:03] Speaker 1: On the anniversary of the Steve Gleason game to get
[15:06] Speaker 1: blown out by the Falcons, and then you got the
[15:08] Speaker 1: Vikings fans doing this. I'm loving this Vikings team.
[15:12] Speaker 3: They're fun. They're fun to watch, and now I'm looking
[15:15] Speaker 3: at their schedule.
[15:16] Speaker 1: There's some tough games. There are. There are. But they're
[15:20] Speaker 1: off to a good start.
[15:21] Speaker 2: Okay.
[15:21] Speaker 1: All right, you go next.
[15:23] Speaker 3: Would you rather, Greg, inherit... And.
[15:26] Speaker 2: This might be an easy one, but whatever.
[15:30] Speaker 3: Indulge me in it.
[15:31] Speaker 2: Inherit the Chargers, Dolphins, or Titans roster tomorrow, knowing that
[15:36] Speaker 2: you can't make a trade until the offseason.
[15:38] Speaker 1: Do I have the roster in perpetuity, or is it
[15:42] Speaker 1: just for this season? Like, am I now just working
[15:45] Speaker 1: for the team, running the team? I have them in 2027, 28,
[15:48] Speaker 1: or am I just worried about the here and now? No,
[15:50] Speaker 1: you know what?
[15:51] Speaker 3: You have it for all of next season.
[15:53] Speaker 1: Okay. Yeah, it's still definitely the Chargers. And you could
[15:55] Speaker 1: make the case now for the Dolphins with this nice...
[15:59] Speaker 1: rookie class yeah and they've got a lot of resources
[16:04] Speaker 1: certainly in terms of draft picks and cap space and
[16:08] Speaker 1: i get it they're kind of in a nice spot
[16:10] Speaker 1: um but ultimately i think the charges just have more
[16:13] Speaker 1: players including justin herbert and we can combine these two
[16:16] Speaker 1: questions because i had herbert as one which is would
[16:19] Speaker 1: you rather justin herbert or three first round picks at
[16:24] Speaker 1: this point in time. Oh, and we get into the
[16:28] Speaker 1: first round picks. Dang, man. Yeah. And this has taken
[16:32] Speaker 1: a little bit. Ben Solak threw this out there. Just like,
[16:34] Speaker 1: what would you trade for Justin Herbert right now? And
[16:37] Speaker 1: the answers were so different. You know, some people are
[16:41] Speaker 1: like a second round pick.
[16:42] Speaker 3: No, that's crazy.
[16:43] Speaker 1: Um, and some people like myself, I would give up
[16:48] Speaker 1: even more than three first round picks. If you would
[16:50] Speaker 1: give it to him. I, I still would rather have
[16:52] Speaker 1: a quarterback. I can almost hear, Eric doesn't like when
[16:55] Speaker 1: we pump up these quarterbacks that have been a little
[16:57] Speaker 1: mediocre over the years, especially CJ Stroud, but maybe Herbert.
[17:01] Speaker 1: I just feel like you've seen a guy produce at
[17:03] Speaker 1: a pretty high level when things are around him. And
[17:05] Speaker 1: that's as good as gold.
[17:07] Speaker 3: So how many first round picks?
[17:09] Speaker 1: Well, I just said three or Herbert. So I'd rather
[17:12] Speaker 1: have Herbert.
[17:13] Speaker 3: I don't know.
[17:15] Speaker 1: It'd take a lot.
[17:15] Speaker 4: Four?
[17:17] Speaker 1: Four plus? I don't know.
[17:18] Speaker 3: It would still go Herbert.
[17:22] Speaker 2: Four, which you could parlay into more if you traded back.
[17:27] Speaker 1: Sure. It really depends on a lot of other X factors,
[17:31] Speaker 1: like who's the team you're trading with and, you know,
[17:34] Speaker 1: what your cap situation is, what your roster is like.
[17:36] Speaker 1: If you're the Dolphins, you know, they don't have Justin Herbert, though.
[17:40] Speaker 1: If you're the Chargers, I'm thinking about it from a
[17:42] Speaker 1: Chargers perspective, and I just wouldn't do it. I will
[17:46] Speaker 1: buy the dip about Justin Herbert, but I got to say,
[17:49] Speaker 1: I never envisioned a scenario where Where we could be
[17:53] Speaker 1: anywhere near here.
[17:53] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[17:54] Speaker 1: Like five weeks into a season where there's a pretty
[17:57] Speaker 1: strong argument. He's leading the worst offense in the league
[18:00] Speaker 1: and he's the worst quarterback or one of them.
[18:02] Speaker 2: Well, thankfully for him, we've seen him at his best
[18:07] Speaker 2: and we know what he can do. Because otherwise, if
[18:09] Speaker 2: it was just him in this vastness of the Chargers
[18:14] Speaker 2: and they're losing seasons, if we only saw this version
[18:18] Speaker 2: of him, then who knows what would happen to him.
[18:20] Speaker 1: Yeah, I... And it doesn't make sense because, again, on paper,
[18:26] Speaker 1: part of the reason I would take the Chargers. And
[18:27] Speaker 1: I think there is a pretty strong argument for, look,
[18:30] Speaker 1: the Dolphins have a few pieces that they like long
[18:32] Speaker 1: term on the offensive line. Their rookie class does look
[18:36] Speaker 1: really good. You can add some things. The Titans, I
[18:38] Speaker 1: don't know what they're doing. I don't know if I
[18:41] Speaker 1: get the entire organization along with those players. They spent
[18:45] Speaker 1: a lot of money to be this bad. They spent
[18:48] Speaker 1: the most this offseason, basically.
[18:49] Speaker 5: And....
[18:52] Speaker 1: Just last week, I saw again, they like fired a
[18:55] Speaker 1: whole level of like C-suite executives. It's like on the
[18:58] Speaker 1: marketing side and different stuff. But all these VPs, I'm
[19:01] Speaker 1: just like, this is every nine months. So I kind
[19:03] Speaker 1: of want to stay away from there. But when you
[19:04] Speaker 1: think about the Chargers, I mean, Joe Alt, Rashawn Slater,
[19:11] Speaker 1: like those are those should be like in theory, this
[19:15] Speaker 1: should be a good team that you build around.
[19:17] Speaker 3: Yeah, I know. Well, Something has to happen.
[19:22] Speaker 2: At what point, if they continue down this road, like
[19:24] Speaker 2: at what point in the season will there be changes?
[19:28] Speaker 1: I don't think, well, Mike McDaniel could definitely get fired
[19:32] Speaker 1: during the season, I think, if things don't change.
[19:33] Speaker 3: When's their bye week?
[19:34] Speaker 1: Now, the trade deadline's a little later than normal. One
[19:37] Speaker 1: I thought about, didn't know if we were going to
[19:38] Speaker 1: get to, but just as kind of a random one is,
[19:40] Speaker 1: would you rather see Khalil Mack to the Bears or
[19:43] Speaker 1: Derwin James to the Ravens? And that was just bringing
[19:46] Speaker 1: up the idea of like, we're gonna have a little
[19:48] Speaker 1: bit of a fire sale here with the Chargers like
[19:50] Speaker 1: what is there's definitely no point of Khalil Mack on the.
[19:52] Speaker 2: Chargers I like Khalil Mack to the Bears yeah that's.
[19:55] Speaker 1: Fun like a reunion yeah of sorts that's a great
[19:58] Speaker 1: one Derwin James played with Jesse Minner last year I
[20:00] Speaker 1: think that would really hurt Chargers fans Khalil Mack he
[20:03] Speaker 1: likes living in LA. He lives in Beverly Hills. He's
[20:07] Speaker 1: been here a while. He's always decided he might not
[20:09] Speaker 1: want to go anywhere. Uh, cause he, you know, he's
[20:11] Speaker 1: been debating whether he'm going to play football each year,
[20:13] Speaker 1: but he's still playing at a high level. So that,
[20:15] Speaker 1: that's one team be interesting to watch down the stretch. Um,
[20:20] Speaker 1: would you rather live the life of an elite kicker?
[20:24] Speaker 5: Okay.
[20:24] Speaker 1: Okay. Or franchise quarterback?
[20:27] Speaker 2: What kind of franchise quarterback am I? Am I, am
[20:30] Speaker 2: I a Justin Herbert?
[20:31] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[20:33] Speaker 1: OK, mate, you know, going into this year, he would
[20:36] Speaker 1: have been kind of like a mid tier, mid to
[20:38] Speaker 1: upper tier franchise quarterback. Like throw him in with Jordan Love.
[20:41] Speaker 1: You also get the possibility of, you know, some fun extracurriculars.
[20:45] Speaker 1: You know, you're very popular socially with the ladies and whatnot.
[20:49] Speaker 2: Yes.
[20:50] Speaker 1: You're tall, you're handsome. He's particularly smart. He was like
[20:52] Speaker 1: a med student. He says he's going to be a
[20:54] Speaker 1: doctor afterwards. But yeah, it could be anyway. It could
[20:56] Speaker 1: be Jordan Love.
[20:57] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's an upcoming quarterback over kicker.
[21:00] Speaker 3: Every single time.
[21:01] Speaker 2: Okay. Because now I have all of these opportunities for
[21:05] Speaker 2: side endorsements and all of these other ways to make money.
[21:08] Speaker 2: And I feel like you can then parlay it into
[21:12] Speaker 2: a backup quarterback role once your prime is done. And
[21:16] Speaker 2: then backup quarterback roles may be the best job in
[21:19] Speaker 2: the entire NFL.
[21:21] Speaker 1: Okay. Well, so here's where I think this becomes an
[21:23] Speaker 1: interesting question.
[21:25] Speaker 2: Okay.
[21:26] Speaker 1: How much money is enough money? Probably, you know, I
[21:30] Speaker 1: think it's a question we need to be asking as
[21:32] Speaker 1: a society.
[21:32] Speaker 2: Financially independent, like to not have to rely on anyone
[21:38] Speaker 2: for money and be able to live the life that
[21:41] Speaker 2: you want to live.
[21:42] Speaker 1: Okay.
[21:43] Speaker 3: Without worrying about. Okay.
[21:44] Speaker 1: Will Reichardt for now is on like a rookie contract.
[21:46] Speaker 1: He's making a million dollars a year. Great money. But
[21:49] Speaker 1: you know, you're not going to be a football player forever.
[21:51] Speaker 1: You can't, you're not going to retire off just that.
[21:53] Speaker 1: He'll get a nice one after retirement. this contract let's
[21:57] Speaker 1: say Brandon Aubrey's you know yeah what is he making
[21:59] Speaker 1: four or five million dollars a year okay even a
[22:01] Speaker 1: little more okay yeah I think that's pretty good yeah
[22:05] Speaker 1: between him and Spencer Schrader let's say because think how
[22:09] Speaker 1: hard that there's a lot on the quarterbacks right okay
[22:14] Speaker 1: Spencer Schrader Reichardt Reichardt hasn't missed a kick in like
[22:17] Speaker 1: a year and a half I think it's 34 straight
[22:18] Speaker 1: kicks The conditions indoors, it's like... Oh, that's nice. That's nice.
[22:24] Speaker 1: Although it's not always indoors. But you have your one
[22:27] Speaker 1: thing you do. You can only practice so much. Yeah.
[22:30] Speaker 1: When everyone else is doing everything and you're going to
[22:32] Speaker 1: work out and everything, but you can't be kicking too much.
[22:35] Speaker 1: So your job is like considerably easier. You're making a
[22:39] Speaker 1: ton of money. And there is a lot of pressure
[22:42] Speaker 1: on you compared to like the left guard, for instance.
[22:45] Speaker 1: But in this case, you're an elite kicker.
[22:47] Speaker 2: But are you getting... Even if you are so good,
[22:49] Speaker 2: are you... Are you getting the respect?
[22:52] Speaker 1: On this show, you are.
[22:54] Speaker 3: I think so.
[22:54] Speaker 1: In the locker room, like who gets more game balls
[22:56] Speaker 1: than kickers? It's like, it's like the special team or
[22:59] Speaker 1: who makes a great player. It's like, it's very often
[23:01] Speaker 1: the kicker is the hero. I think that's a great life.
[23:04] Speaker 2: And then you have a great life until you have
[23:07] Speaker 2: one missed kick that's in the biggest of spots.
[23:10] Speaker 1: That's tough.
[23:11] Speaker 3: In the playoffs. Maybe it's a chance to go to
[23:14] Speaker 3: the Super Bowl.
[23:15] Speaker 1: Who knows?
[23:15] Speaker 3: And then you miss it.
[23:16] Speaker 1: You're Gary Anderson, the guy who missed it for the Vikings.
[23:19] Speaker 3: And then you live with that for the rest of
[23:20] Speaker 3: your life.
[23:21] Speaker 1: But you know what? That's like every week for a quarterback,
[23:24] Speaker 1: like every week, Jalen hurts is in the middle of
[23:28] Speaker 1: the conversation. And yes, you could be Scott Norwood. That's right.
[23:32] Speaker 1: That's worst case scenario.
[23:34] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[23:35] Speaker 1: Sorry. Um, I know you could be, but think of
[23:38] Speaker 1: all the quarterbacks that are like Jamarcus, right? Like there's
[23:41] Speaker 1: a lot of quarterbacks that get picked on forever. And
[23:43] Speaker 1: my point is like on a week to week day
[23:45] Speaker 1: to day basis, your job, like How many kickers? Pretty underrated.
[23:49] Speaker 1: I'm saying you're an elite kicker.
[23:51] Speaker 3: How many kickers have statues of them?
[23:55] Speaker 1: Well, the Falcons punter is part of that Steve Gleason statue,
[24:00] Speaker 1: but he's getting the ball blocked. Adam Vinatieri, it does
[24:05] Speaker 1: not have a statue, but he is a Patriots Hall
[24:08] Speaker 1: of Famer and a Hall of Famer, I believe. And
[24:11] Speaker 1: when he returns, he returned this last weekend as part
[24:13] Speaker 1: of the 25th anniversary team, along with the Our old buddy,
[24:18] Speaker 1: Willie McGinnis, they saw out there. Oh, I like that.
[24:21] Speaker 1: And yeah.
[24:23] Speaker 3: I met his dog over the summer, by the way.
[24:25] Speaker 3: Adam Vinataris. He's the cutest dog. In Indianapolis.
[24:29] Speaker 1: Okay.
[24:29] Speaker 3: For a little fun project. You guys will hear about later.
[24:33] Speaker 1: I think I would maybe rather be Spencer Strader. I mean,
[24:36] Speaker 1: it just seems like... Spencer Schrader will.
[24:39] Speaker 3: Give me franchise. OK, I have one for you.
[24:41] Speaker 1: Sounds like a great life.
[24:42] Speaker 2: Would would you rather be forced to sit through a
[24:44] Speaker 2: 90 minute press conference where every single question is about
[24:48] Speaker 2: clock management for 90 minutes or spend an entire offseason
[24:53] Speaker 2: attending NFL officiating seminars?
[24:57] Speaker 3: Well, I don't know how many seminars. Yeah, I don't
[25:00] Speaker 3: know how long the seminars are. In terms of time.
[25:02] Speaker 1: When you say off-season, it's just like a non-stop seminar.
[25:06] Speaker 1: We talked a little bit about this before the show.
[25:08] Speaker 1: We're getting older, Colleen.
[25:10] Speaker 2: We are.
[25:10] Speaker 1: We're getting.
[25:11] Speaker 3: It's like... We're getting tired faster.
[25:15] Speaker 1: We're creeping closer to death. Let's be real. It's that
[25:19] Speaker 1: time in the show. And I'm just thinking about... I
[25:23] Speaker 1: value my off-seasons. We're working hard. We're doing a daily show.
[25:26] Speaker 1: So we're not just exactly kicking the feet up. But... Ultimately,
[25:31] Speaker 1: I'm just thinking about that's time with my family. They're
[25:35] Speaker 1: going to be going to college someday. I'm thinking about
[25:37] Speaker 1: that ticking clock. Time's not a renewable resource. Yeah, exactly.
[25:42] Speaker 1: The 90-minute press conference just sounds better. You can get
[25:45] Speaker 1: it over. Now, if it was just 90 minutes or
[25:47] Speaker 1: even three hours worth of the officiating seminars, I would
[25:51] Speaker 1: be somewhat interested in that.
[25:54] Speaker 3: We're talking every weekend, every off season.
[25:57] Speaker 5: Okay.
[25:58] Speaker 1: That's too much. You know how they do the seminar
[26:03] Speaker 1: for us at NFL media. And it's not just NFL
[26:07] Speaker 1: employees that are in the media. they do this for
[26:09] Speaker 1: the Fox sports people and the ESPN crew, but someone
[26:12] Speaker 1: from the league office does like a presentation of what's
[26:15] Speaker 1: changed this year. There wasn't much to talk about this year.
[26:17] Speaker 1: And they were like, replay assist is going to be
[26:19] Speaker 1: a much bigger deal this year. They really emphasize. And
[26:22] Speaker 1: it has been, I haven't noticed that that's been a thing.
[26:24] Speaker 1: I kind of like those.
[26:25] Speaker 3: That's nice.
[26:26] Speaker 2: Like, but when it's, we've been to some Greg that
[26:30] Speaker 2: are a little mind numbing.
[26:31] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[26:32] Speaker 2: Where we've just gone in circles about what rules are
[26:36] Speaker 2: and the subjectiveness of them and why these are points
[26:40] Speaker 2: of emphasis.
[26:41] Speaker 1: It goes on. You don't want to be the NFL
[26:45] Speaker 1: media employee that will just not stop asking questions. And
[26:49] Speaker 1: you know who I'm talking about. And honestly, if our
[26:52] Speaker 1: listeners thought hard enough about it, they could figure it out, too.
[26:55] Speaker 1: I'm not saying... I'm not saying a damn thing.
[26:58] Speaker 3: But if you have any guesses, send them our.
[27:00] Speaker 1: Way, maybe. Sure. That's incredible.
[27:04] Speaker 2: Okay.
[27:06] Speaker 1: Last one here. All right. All right. You are Colleen Wolfe. Okay, yes.
[27:12] Speaker 1: You are an Eagles fan.
[27:12] Speaker 3: Confirmed.
[27:14] Speaker 1: Would you rather be an Eagles fan for the next
[27:18] Speaker 1: five years or be a fan of a team with
[27:25] Speaker 1: a Hall of Fame quarterback that has not gotten over
[27:28] Speaker 1: the hump yet. And I'm thinking of Lamar Jackson and
[27:30] Speaker 1: Josh Allen, specifically Bills and Ravens.
[27:33] Speaker 2: And.
[27:35] Speaker 1: go through that process. Now in this world, like you're not,
[27:38] Speaker 1: it's not Colleen giving up her loyalty, but which do
[27:41] Speaker 1: you think is a better position to be in now
[27:44] Speaker 1: in the, I want to make it clear in this world,
[27:47] Speaker 1: you will have already experienced the joy that you got
[27:51] Speaker 1: to experience two times as a fan of a Superbowl champion.
[27:56] Speaker 1: So you have those memories in your, in your, in
[28:00] Speaker 1: your pocket, but you are at a moment in the,
[28:04] Speaker 1: organization's history where things feel a little bit like on
[28:07] Speaker 1: the precipice and would it be a better experience to
[28:12] Speaker 1: be that team that's now searching for that ring and
[28:16] Speaker 1: seemingly has a much better chance to to get that.
[28:19] Speaker 3: Ring this feels like you're offering.
[28:21] Speaker 2: Me the apple yeah of adam and eve and i'm
[28:25] Speaker 2: not supposed to oh But of course, I'm going to
[28:28] Speaker 2: say I'm going to be with the Eagles, no matter what.
[28:30] Speaker 5: Right.
[28:31] Speaker 3: Okay.
[28:31] Speaker 1: I wish this wasn't even Colleen.
[28:35] Speaker 2: Yeah, it would be cool to experience that. But there's
[28:40] Speaker 2: no way. There's no reality. There's no world where I'm
[28:43] Speaker 2: going and choosing another team.
[28:45] Speaker 1: That I get. It's tricky. I guess what I'm also
[28:49] Speaker 1: saying is, this is more....
[28:54] Speaker 3: Maybe I give up.
[28:55] Speaker 1: This is more philosophical. Would you... It's sort of like
[28:58] Speaker 1: as a fan experience. Mm-hmm. Is it more about like
[29:03] Speaker 1: what's coming next, the hope and the promise of living
[29:08] Speaker 1: in the now and the future? What could be coming next?
[29:12] Speaker 1: Or is your previous experience like all those 49ers fans
[29:16] Speaker 1: who are 35 years old and they're like, hey, we
[29:18] Speaker 1: got five rings. You can't even count our ring Seahawks fans.
[29:21] Speaker 1: And I'm thinking you didn't experience any of that. That's
[29:24] Speaker 1: worth nothing to you. Yeah. you had that experience. So
[29:27] Speaker 1: that was worth something to you, but it's kind of
[29:30] Speaker 1: in the past. And like I said, I know that's fair,
[29:35] Speaker 1: but I guess I'm saying like, as we're getting older here,
[29:38] Speaker 1: it's all about like the experience that you're gone, that
[29:41] Speaker 1: you have and that you're going to have. And so
[29:43] Speaker 1: the better experience, like on paper, like if you got
[29:47] Speaker 1: to experience that again and you had a way better
[29:49] Speaker 1: chance for that, that's, that's intriguing. Would you, so maybe
[29:52] Speaker 1: it's not a way better.
[29:53] Speaker 2: So would I rather have just live on my, the
[29:57] Speaker 2: memories of my past?
[29:59] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[30:00] Speaker 2: With no hope for anything, any future success or not
[30:07] Speaker 2: give those memories back and have, and live with some
[30:11] Speaker 2: hope for the future. I feel like living with hope
[30:13] Speaker 2: for the future would be great.
[30:14] Speaker 1: I wasn't going that drastic because it's the NFL. There's
[30:17] Speaker 1: always hope. And I'm being a little hard on the Eagles, um,
[30:23] Speaker 1: since my friend Alec Allaby left the team, things haven't
[30:25] Speaker 1: really been the same for them. Um, but Howie Roseman
[30:28] Speaker 1: has been a resourceful GM and could figure things out. Yeah.
[30:31] Speaker 2: You know, let's just say it's been a tough, a
[30:34] Speaker 2: tough week and a half for the Eagles organization and
[30:37] Speaker 2: Eagles fans along with it.
[30:38] Speaker 1: You never know. They might still bounce back. That was, um,
[30:41] Speaker 1: that was today's very illuminating segment of, uh, would you
[30:46] Speaker 1: rather let's take a quick break here. We're going to
[30:49] Speaker 1: come back. We're going to do some news and we
[30:50] Speaker 1: are going to preview Thursday night football. Bronco Seahawks. Will
[30:55] Speaker 1: you be awake? At that point, you'll be a little recovered. Yeah,
[30:58] Speaker 1: I'll be fine. Okay, she'll be fine.
[31:01] Speaker 3: Will you be awake? Will you be alive?
[31:14] Speaker 1: Back at NFL Daily, let's start the news with the
[31:19] Speaker 1: aftermath of the mess that was the postgame In Los Angeles.
[31:24] Speaker 1: As Jordan, Rodrigue, and myself were live talking about the game,
[31:30] Speaker 1: Josh Allen was doing an interview with ESPN Deportes, which
[31:35] Speaker 1: I recommend people go find. And while he's doing the interview,
[31:40] Speaker 1: he has a hard time paying attention to the interview
[31:43] Speaker 1: because right behind him, Alaric Jackson and Bradley Chubb are
[31:48] Speaker 1: getting into... a confrontation that ends up with Alaric Jackson,
[31:54] Speaker 1: the left tackle of the Los Angeles Rams throwing a
[31:57] Speaker 1: punch at Bradley Chubb. And it's very strange because the
[32:00] Speaker 1: camera's not on him, but Josh Allen is like looking
[32:03] Speaker 1: back and he's like increasingly bothered by it. And he's
[32:06] Speaker 1: sort of answering the question. He's like, oh man, we,
[32:08] Speaker 1: we gotta get our, you know, we gotta get our
[32:10] Speaker 1: guy away from here. Something's happening back here. Like he
[32:12] Speaker 1: almost wants to leave the interview and, to help to
[32:15] Speaker 1: save the situation. Cause he's that type of guy, but
[32:17] Speaker 1: he does not want to be rude, um, to the
[32:20] Speaker 1: interviewer and, uh.
[32:21] Speaker 3: And Chubb's helmet was off.
[32:23] Speaker 1: Chubb's helmet was off. The punch was thrown. And as
[32:27] Speaker 1: we are taping, we learn that Alaric Jackson is expected
[32:32] Speaker 1: to be suspended for two games for this punch on
[32:38] Speaker 1: Bradley Chubb. There's some context to the length of that suspension,
[32:42] Speaker 1: but you noted that it's very similar to a situation
[32:46] Speaker 1: from a year ago.
[32:47] Speaker 3: Yeah, Brian Branch, pretty much, it feels exactly a year ago.
[32:51] Speaker 2: He got one game for the open hand strike.
[32:56] Speaker 3: To Juju Smith-Schuster's.
[32:57] Speaker 2: Face mask right after the game, and that was upheld
[33:01] Speaker 2: on an appeal. So, Jackson's also feels like it's worst on,
[33:07] Speaker 2: on almost every level too, because it was unprovoked when
[33:10] Speaker 2: you watch it. It seemed like there were some words
[33:12] Speaker 2: that went back and forth, but there were helmets off
[33:16] Speaker 2: pads off all of it. And the Brian branch one,
[33:18] Speaker 2: they were still in their gear.
[33:20] Speaker 1: Yeah. Whether like, however it happened in the end, Jackson's
[33:23] Speaker 1: the one that threw the punch. And so he's going
[33:25] Speaker 1: to get the punishment. Now he's suspended two games instead
[33:28] Speaker 1: of one, uh, for Branch. And I think there is
[33:32] Speaker 1: some context that we talked about this summer on the
[33:35] Speaker 1: show when we thought that Alaric Jackson might be facing
[33:38] Speaker 1: a suspension from the NFL. He had a felony domestic
[33:44] Speaker 1: violence arrest this June. Police said the arrest was for, quote,
[33:49] Speaker 1: willfully inflicting physical or corporal injury resulting in a, quote,
[33:53] Speaker 1: traumatic condition such as a bruise, scratch, swelling or internal
[33:56] Speaker 1: injury on an intimate partner. There was a report from
[34:01] Speaker 1: the LA Times that he entered a diversion program that
[34:03] Speaker 1: required probation. That might not be accurate either way. He
[34:08] Speaker 1: also was suspended by the NFL in 2024 for violating
[34:13] Speaker 1: its personal conduct policy following a lawsuit filed by a
[34:16] Speaker 1: woman who alleged that he recorded her without consent during sex.
[34:21] Speaker 1: These are all horrible... Accusations in the NFL did their
[34:25] Speaker 1: own investigation into that privately. Mike Garofalo reported on NFL
[34:31] Speaker 1: Network on Tuesday that the domestic violence situation related to
[34:36] Speaker 1: Alaric Jackson was potentially still being investigated by the NFL.
[34:41] Speaker 1: And that might just be an open situation. So look,
[34:45] Speaker 1: that's just providing like overall context. This suspension is specifically
[34:49] Speaker 1: for the punch. But I do think in some of
[34:52] Speaker 1: these situations, it would be helpful for the public to
[34:55] Speaker 1: know from the league and the team, like clarity of
[34:58] Speaker 1: what is going on with these sort of cases, because
[35:01] Speaker 1: we're kind of working in the dark of what's happening.
[35:04] Speaker 1: So that's your Alaric Jackson update. We do have a
[35:07] Speaker 1: couple other suspensions, but before we move on from the Rams,
[35:11] Speaker 1: after the game, Sean McVay said that kicking cost them
[35:18] Speaker 1: the game. He was very upset, and then he followed
[35:22] Speaker 1: that up on Tuesday by firing Harrison Mevis, their kicker.
[35:28] Speaker 1: Mavis missed, I think, three kicks so far this season,
[35:32] Speaker 1: but this seems to be a consistent pattern among Rams
[35:35] Speaker 1: kickers and the Rams in general under Sean McVay.
[35:38] Speaker 2: Yeah, I have to go back and check, but I'm
[35:41] Speaker 2: pretty sure this is their fifth kicker in five seasons.
[35:45] Speaker 2: So they just kind of keep going through guys not
[35:48] Speaker 2: having luck there. They signed Blake Groupie off the Jets
[35:51] Speaker 2: practice squad, who.
[35:53] Speaker 3: Just in terms of build is the complete opposite.
[35:59] Speaker 2: So maybe they're just trying to try something completely new there.
[36:03] Speaker 3: But McVay obviously didn't trust McVay. his kicker.
[36:06] Speaker 2: He said so all night after the game. Um, but
[36:09] Speaker 2: it just on third and what was it? Five and overtime.
[36:12] Speaker 2: He just, he trusted him anyway.
[36:14] Speaker 1: And that's, well, he trusted him too much by running
[36:17] Speaker 1: the ball into the line of scrimmage on third and
[36:22] Speaker 1: five and this team. And I know Stafford missed the
[36:24] Speaker 1: throw on second down. So that could have changed things too.
[36:26] Speaker 1: But To me, they got way too conservative. And Sean McVay,
[36:30] Speaker 1: very upset after the game. I'm a little upset for
[36:34] Speaker 1: Mevis because he was a bit of a folk hero
[36:36] Speaker 1: in our house and probably many households. Number 92, had
[36:41] Speaker 1: some fans. My daughter is very upset that Harrison Mevis
[36:44] Speaker 1: is no longer a Los Angeles Ram. He was five
[36:47] Speaker 1: for nine on the season. So I get that part
[36:50] Speaker 1: of it. But I would like to hear a little
[36:54] Speaker 1: bit more from McVay taking some ownership after the game
[36:59] Speaker 1: instead of saying it's on our kicker. Eventually, he did
[37:03] Speaker 1: get there. With the third and five play, was there... Yeah,
[37:05] Speaker 1: you know what? If I would have.
[37:08] Speaker 4: Yeah, I wish I would have had a better play
[37:10] Speaker 4: call and gone for it, got it a lot tighter.
[37:12] Speaker 4: I'm sick right now with myself, and I'm so proud
[37:16] Speaker 4: of that group. This is the tough part of sports,
[37:20] Speaker 4: but I'm proud of that team. I'm proud of the
[37:22] Speaker 4: way that we battled, and I'm sick that we came
[37:24] Speaker 4: up short. I'll be regretting kicking that and not having
[37:29] Speaker 4: a better call to be able to go for it
[37:31] Speaker 4: on third down and go to fourth or whatever it was,
[37:33] Speaker 4: and that's on me.
[37:36] Speaker 2: And they, if you remember last year, they fired their
[37:39] Speaker 2: special teams coordinator mid-season and that was after a loss
[37:43] Speaker 2: to Seattle. This just is sort of a lot of
[37:48] Speaker 2: the same that we're seeing. They're not really getting any
[37:50] Speaker 2: results from the changes that they're making.
[37:52] Speaker 1: No, and it's not just the kicker. It's the punt
[37:57] Speaker 1: coverage and the punt, you know, kick coverage and all
[37:59] Speaker 1: this stuff. Right now, actually, according to FTN, which has
[38:03] Speaker 1: the DVOA stat. They are the worst special teams unit
[38:07] Speaker 1: since they have started recording special teams units in 1979.
[38:10] Speaker 1: Through five weeks. Through five weeks, they are the worst.
[38:14] Speaker 1: And I think that does go to McVay. And they're
[38:18] Speaker 1: just going through it right now. Their schedule over the
[38:20] Speaker 1: next three weeks does ease up quite a bit with
[38:23] Speaker 1: the Cardinals this week to kick off that stretch. And
[38:28] Speaker 1: it sounds like they won't have Alaric Jackson. And this
[38:30] Speaker 1: is a league... that they didn't decide to take any
[38:36] Speaker 1: responsibility for Alaric Jackson's, and this was multiple times that
[38:40] Speaker 1: he has gotten in trouble with the law. This is
[38:41] Speaker 1: a guy that they gave a long-term contract extension to
[38:45] Speaker 1: previous to the most recent incident. But teams can act
[38:49] Speaker 1: on their own. So I also think they do take
[38:52] Speaker 1: responsibility for what they accept and allow. And there is
[38:57] Speaker 1: a sliding scale of these things of how good the
[38:59] Speaker 1: player is and what is... The offense and teams do
[39:02] Speaker 1: have a decision to make. For instance, the Lions at
[39:05] Speaker 1: some point this offseason decided like for Terry and Arnold,
[39:09] Speaker 1: despite him being a first round pick, they decided to
[39:12] Speaker 1: release him. The Rams decided not to do anything with
[39:14] Speaker 1: Alaric Jackson. And then all of this comes up.
[39:18] Speaker 2: It just feels like every January we, if we're asking
[39:23] Speaker 2: what is holding back the Rams from a Super Bowl,
[39:26] Speaker 2: a lot of times we're pointing to something that happened
[39:29] Speaker 2: with Spurs.
[39:30] Speaker 1: Teams. Yeah, special teams. And yeah, in this case, look,
[39:36] Speaker 1: it's self-evaluation. And I'm sure... Look, they'll have a plan
[39:41] Speaker 1: to get through this period and just hope for the best,
[39:44] Speaker 1: because that's what they've done on special teams for a while.
[39:45] Speaker 1: But there are three games now back of the 49ers
[39:48] Speaker 1: who have their own suspension to deal with. Dre Greenlaw
[39:51] Speaker 1: has been suspended for what happened in that game against
[39:56] Speaker 1: the Seahawks, a headbutt on a helmetless Ernest Jones. Dre Greenlaw,
[40:01] Speaker 1: who we haven't talked about much on the show... who
[40:05] Speaker 1: was chirping at Sean Payton after the game last week
[40:08] Speaker 1: against the Broncos, saying, get off the field, get off
[40:11] Speaker 1: the field. I kind of love that. Because he had
[40:13] Speaker 1: a bad experience with Sean Payton. And then immediately, I
[40:16] Speaker 1: think it was Fred Warner as a good teammate, drags
[40:19] Speaker 1: Dre Greenlaw away from that. Dre Greenlaw was just doing
[40:21] Speaker 1: a drive-by yell in that case. He's played really well
[40:24] Speaker 1: for the 49ers. It's something that happens. He's changed, but
[40:27] Speaker 1: he has been suspended for this week's game. And then
[40:30] Speaker 1: the Bears also found out Their best pass rusher, Montez Sweat,
[40:34] Speaker 1: has been suspended for two games for performance-enhancing drugs. We
[40:39] Speaker 1: learned that on Tuesday. That'll be against Atlanta and the Patriots.
[40:44] Speaker 1: So that's all your suspension news for the day.
[40:47] Speaker 2: The thing I was thinking about with Greenlaw is this
[40:51] Speaker 2: is his second one-game suspension, too, in as many seasons.
[40:54] Speaker 2: Because if you remember last year in Denver, he was
[40:57] Speaker 2: suspended for a game for verbally threatening Brad Allen. after
[41:01] Speaker 2: the game, the referee. So third ejection of his career too.
[41:06] Speaker 2: I mean, so this is a, it's not great. It
[41:08] Speaker 2: doesn't help the team.
[41:10] Speaker 1: It does, you know, often tend to be like repeat offenders. Yeah.
[41:14] Speaker 1: Greg Greenlaw is definitely one of those. I saw some
[41:17] Speaker 1: quotes today from Gail Benson. And I just thought they
[41:22] Speaker 1: were just worth throwing into the show. Okay. Very quickly.
[41:25] Speaker 1: I do like to follow the Saints. She was at,
[41:29] Speaker 1: what's called the B & O QB Club Luncheon, which
[41:33] Speaker 1: sounds like a very southern thing. Like that you have
[41:37] Speaker 1: like a luncheon with business people that are maybe kind of.
[41:41] Speaker 5: You know.
[41:42] Speaker 3: It's bougie.
[41:43] Speaker 1: Invested in the team. Very southern. And she had this
[41:46] Speaker 1: to say about the recent struggles of the Saints. Quote,
[41:49] Speaker 1: I will not make excuses and I will not accept
[41:52] Speaker 1: this level of performance as our standard. I am committed
[41:55] Speaker 1: to making the decisions necessary to improve this team. Everyone
[41:58] Speaker 1: in this organization understands the urgency. We must prepare better,
[42:02] Speaker 1: execute consistently, and correct the mistakes that are costing us games.
[42:07] Speaker 1: If you know a little bit about Gail Benson, and
[42:10] Speaker 1: she usually tries to stay out of the spotlight, you
[42:14] Speaker 1: read a little more into this. And what I read
[42:16] Speaker 1: into it, Colleen, is that if the Saints don't win
[42:19] Speaker 1: a game, and they have the Giants this week, and
[42:22] Speaker 1: then we're going to see them in Paris against the Steelers,
[42:24] Speaker 1: if they don't win a game in that stretch, which
[42:26] Speaker 1: is before their bye week, I think Kellen Moore could
[42:29] Speaker 1: be fired.
[42:29] Speaker 3: He's going to stay in Paris.
[42:31] Speaker 1: That could be. Oh, who is who? Yes. Right.
[42:36] Speaker 3: I was just trying.
[42:38] Speaker 1: To Dennis Allen with the Raiders. I think it might
[42:41] Speaker 1: have been Dennis Allen. But yes, some coach once didn't
[42:44] Speaker 1: literally get left overseas. But I think that's interesting that
[42:49] Speaker 1: she said that and said it in such a public
[42:51] Speaker 1: forum that she knew was going to be broadcast in
[42:54] Speaker 1: New Orleans. And it makes me wonder about Mickey Loomis, too.
[42:58] Speaker 1: who has been there for absolute ever. Greater New Orleans
[43:02] Speaker 1: Quarterback Club, though. I wonder what they served. You know
[43:05] Speaker 1: the food is awesome.
[43:06] Speaker 3: Dennis Allen.
[43:07] Speaker 1: It was Dennis Allen.
[43:08] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[43:09] Speaker 2: Shortly after the Raiders lost 38-14 to the Dolphins at Wembley.
[43:14] Speaker 1: Not so old. Don't put me in the retirement home yet.
[43:17] Speaker 3: That's pretty good.
[43:19] Speaker 1: Remembering some things.
[43:20] Speaker 2: Joe Philbin was a day after the Dolphins lost to
[43:24] Speaker 2: the Jets.
[43:24] Speaker 1: Similar. So she also noted how the last two games,
[43:29] Speaker 1: like I mentioned previously in the show, the Falcons and
[43:33] Speaker 1: the Breeze game, how especially disappointing it was and that
[43:36] Speaker 1: it reminded her that they are not holding up the
[43:38] Speaker 1: standards of the organization. So I think Kellen Moore is
[43:42] Speaker 1: in trouble starting now. They need to win. A couple
[43:45] Speaker 1: other quick injury items and we'll get to our TNF preview.
[43:48] Speaker 1: Travion Henderson of the Patriots is going to miss some time.
[43:52] Speaker 1: multiple weeks with a high ankle sprain. They really could
[43:56] Speaker 1: use his explosiveness in the backfield. This is not an
[43:58] Speaker 1: explosive team in terms of their speed. Will Campbell, their
[44:02] Speaker 1: left tackle is also weak to weak with a knee sprain,
[44:07] Speaker 1: same knee that he hurt last year would cost him
[44:10] Speaker 1: to miss a lot of time. And so they might
[44:12] Speaker 1: have their first round pick Caleb Lomu filling in there.
[44:16] Speaker 1: I noted that Ben Johnson was asked about his backup
[44:18] Speaker 1: quarterback situation this week because they benched Tyson Bajan. It
[44:24] Speaker 1: was probably like two in the morning in Paris.
[44:26] Speaker 3: Who knows?
[44:26] Speaker 1: I mean, in London at this time. But they benched
[44:28] Speaker 1: Tyson Bajan, put in Case Keenum, and they were like, well,
[44:31] Speaker 1: who's your backup if Caleb Williams is going to play?
[44:33] Speaker 1: And his answer was, we have three quarterbacks that we
[44:37] Speaker 1: feel confident in.
[44:38] Speaker 2: He does not want to give any info at all
[44:41] Speaker 2: about the quarterback situation.
[44:43] Speaker 3: I feel like why doesn't he just like give it
[44:44] Speaker 3: to Case Keenum?
[44:45] Speaker 2: But they love Tyson Bajet until they bench him.
[44:49] Speaker 1: I read that part of the answer as it would
[44:53] Speaker 1: be Case Keenum. I could be wrong as the backup.
[44:57] Speaker 1: I also believe Caleb Williams has a strong chance to
[45:00] Speaker 1: play as long as he has a good week of practice. Yeah.
[45:02] Speaker 1: The reporting of what he looked like before his last
[45:05] Speaker 1: game was really positive. So I think Caleb Williams could
[45:08] Speaker 1: be returning. for a fun game against Falcons who have
[45:10] Speaker 1: their own quarterback situation to figure out, see if Michael
[45:13] Speaker 1: Penix is healthy. Last injury item was Anton Harrison, the
[45:17] Speaker 1: left tackle of the Jaguars and has been a good
[45:22] Speaker 1: starter for them now for a number of years. We'll
[45:24] Speaker 1: miss multiple weeks, could be three to five weeks, could
[45:26] Speaker 1: be even more after they get in there. and do
[45:28] Speaker 1: the surgery. So that's a big loss for them. Let's
[45:30] Speaker 1: get to that TNF preview. Let's get, let's get Colleen
[45:33] Speaker 1: and out of here. Let's stay for a couple more hours.
[45:35] Speaker 1: Are you driving? Is this safe?
[45:37] Speaker 3: I don't know.
[45:38] Speaker 1: Okay.
[45:38] Speaker 3: I actually went outside before.
[45:40] Speaker 1: You either came here in an Uber or you have
[45:42] Speaker 1: a car.
[45:43] Speaker 2: I went to go get my car this morning for power,
[45:46] Speaker 2: the power ranking show with Nick Shook. And I, Couldn't
[45:49] Speaker 2: find my car on the block. And at first I
[45:51] Speaker 2: was like, did my car get stolen? And then I
[45:53] Speaker 2: remembered that I left my car here last week after
[45:56] Speaker 2: the show because my flight was much earlier than previously thought.
[46:00] Speaker 3: So I will be driving my car.
[46:01] Speaker 1: Now, did you okay that with security and anyone else
[46:05] Speaker 1: or you just left it there?
[46:06] Speaker 3: I okayed it with security.
[46:09] Speaker 2: And I'm hoping that my keys are.
[46:12] Speaker 3: Still with them.
[46:12] Speaker 1: That's some real talent stuff there. I don't know if
[46:15] Speaker 1: I would... be able to pull up. Now it wasn't
[46:17] Speaker 1: planned out, but look, I'd love to leave my car
[46:19] Speaker 1: here for a week and, and come go straight from
[46:21] Speaker 1: our show next week to the airport.
[46:24] Speaker 3: I know a guy.
[46:24] Speaker 1: I don't, I don't want me to take you over
[46:26] Speaker 1: to the booth. I don't think that's going to be allowed. Um,
[46:29] Speaker 1: let's talk Denver. And Seattle. Eric tells me that I
[46:33] Speaker 1: could just leave the car. I thought they don't allow that.
[46:36] Speaker 3: No, you got to ask them.
[46:38] Speaker 1: I know you got to ask.
[46:39] Speaker 2: And then I gave them my keys and they were like,
[46:40] Speaker 2: we cannot take these keys. So I don't know what happened.
[46:43] Speaker 1: What do you think? But I was like, I got
[46:44] Speaker 1: to know. Just because you're riding first class doesn't mean everyone. Listen,
[46:49] Speaker 1: I was going to miss my flight. Can you just
[46:52] Speaker 1: charge it up a little for me too?
[46:54] Speaker 3: I've never charged it here.
[46:55] Speaker 1: All right.
[46:56] Speaker 3: The Cold War game.
[46:58] Speaker 1: I'm using that charger every Sunday. It's incredible.
[47:00] Speaker 3: That's nice.
[47:01] Speaker 1: That's my favorite perk. Seattle, Denver, who played the most
[47:08] Speaker 1: entertaining Super Bowl blowout I've ever witnessed, at least in person. Yeah.
[47:13] Speaker 1: When that ball went over Peyton Manning's head, I was like, oh,
[47:15] Speaker 1: this is going to be a long day. And it was.
[47:18] Speaker 1: And now they're going to try to get revenge. Many
[47:21] Speaker 1: years later, the Seahawks are in Denver. They are two
[47:24] Speaker 1: and a half point favorites. These two teams are both
[47:26] Speaker 1: three and two. Both disappointing in similar ways where their
[47:33] Speaker 1: fan base right now is asking kind of what's up
[47:37] Speaker 1: with the quarterback of each of their teams. I'll let
[47:41] Speaker 1: you take it from there. Which quarterback kind of strikes
[47:43] Speaker 1: your fancy or what do you think?
[47:45] Speaker 2: First, I feel that I should explain why I said
[47:47] Speaker 2: the Cold War game. Because if we're talking about Revenge
[47:51] Speaker 2: for the Super Bowl. My first thought goes to Mike
[47:55] Speaker 2: McDonald and Sean Payton beefing with their tough guy talk because...
[48:03] Speaker 2: of everything that happened back when they first played each other.
[48:06] Speaker 3: That was, uh, I think Bo Nix's first.
[48:09] Speaker 1: It was now 2024. Yeah.
[48:10] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[48:11] Speaker 2: So that was like his first year and Mike McDonald
[48:15] Speaker 2: and the Seahawks used some.
[48:17] Speaker 3: Clever ways to scout by.
[48:20] Speaker 2: Taking some like, you know, videos off of Twitter X
[48:23] Speaker 2: at training camp and then used those, uh, for preparing
[48:27] Speaker 2: for the game. And, uh, Sean Payton did not like
[48:30] Speaker 2: that and took issue with it. And there was a
[48:33] Speaker 2: lot of back and forth about whether or not Mike
[48:35] Speaker 2: McDonald cheated. And so I think they they talked it out.
[48:41] Speaker 2: But this is the first game since. And it's been
[48:43] Speaker 2: apparently a cold war since because each one wanted to
[48:46] Speaker 2: like press the button but didn't press the button. And
[48:49] Speaker 2: so now we get the two of them together and
[48:52] Speaker 2: they're in Denver, which I like even more for this game.
[48:55] Speaker 2: So yes, both teams have questions at the quarterback position.
[48:59] Speaker 2: Obviously with Sam Darnold, the inconsistency that we're seeing with
[49:03] Speaker 2: the offense in general, is that going to be their
[49:06] Speaker 2: great demise? And then with Bo Nix, we're not seeing
[49:10] Speaker 2: anything until late in games when they finally are oppressed
[49:15] Speaker 2: and need to come back. But for me, I think
[49:18] Speaker 2: the biggest story is that Seattle needs to clean up
[49:21] Speaker 2: its mistakes. All of these self-inflicting wounds that they have
[49:25] Speaker 2: on the short week, they lost by three points to
[49:29] Speaker 2: San Francisco and in that game committed four turnovers. The
[49:32] Speaker 2: turnovers are their Achilles heel. They have nine turnovers this season.
[49:37] Speaker 2: They only converted three of 12 third downs.
[49:40] Speaker 3: They allowed five sacks. It was just a mess.
[49:43] Speaker 1: I want to get back to the Cold War.
[49:45] Speaker 2: Okay.
[49:45] Speaker 1: But let's finish with the quarterbacks. Out of 30 quarterbacks
[49:50] Speaker 1: that qualify for ESPN's QBR metric... uh, you know, rating quarterbacks.
[49:56] Speaker 1: Sam Darnold right now is 29th out of 30 and
[49:59] Speaker 1: Bo Nix is 24th. And I was surprised to see
[50:03] Speaker 1: Darnold that low, but he just hasn't played that much.
[50:05] Speaker 1: And he's taking sacks and turning the ball over and
[50:08] Speaker 1: the good plays that he's making to JSN are not
[50:11] Speaker 1: really making up for it. And I just think he's
[50:14] Speaker 1: not playing with a lot of confidence. He's not seeing
[50:17] Speaker 1: the field. He's not seeing open receivers necessarily. And whether it's,
[50:24] Speaker 1: not trusting his guys or not. Like they're just not
[50:28] Speaker 1: getting anything out of anyone except for Jackson Smith and Jigba.
[50:32] Speaker 1: And that can work if your running game is working,
[50:34] Speaker 1: but the running game has been a mess and they're
[50:36] Speaker 1: fumbling all the time. You mentioned the turnovers. A lot
[50:38] Speaker 1: of it is the running backs losing the ball one
[50:41] Speaker 1: after one. I don't think they're going to have Zach
[50:43] Speaker 1: Charbonnet back for this game. I actually think they missed
[50:46] Speaker 1: this guy, Anthony Bradford, their guard who we picked on
[50:51] Speaker 1: last year and opposing defenses picked on like in past protection,
[50:56] Speaker 1: but he's probably their best run blocker. He's been out
[50:58] Speaker 1: for a while and it's just been disjointed in the
[51:01] Speaker 1: Broncos defense for all the troubles that this team has had.
[51:03] Speaker 1: It hasn't really been the defense. They've been good. Maybe
[51:05] Speaker 1: not as great as previous years, but they've been like
[51:08] Speaker 1: a top 10 defense.
[51:09] Speaker 3: That's defensive front.
[51:10] Speaker 2: They can definitely make Seattle feel uncomfortable, especially if like
[51:14] Speaker 2: you're talking about the Seahawks having issues with their run game.
[51:17] Speaker 2: If they can't establish the run, then Sam Darnold, like
[51:20] Speaker 2: you can't expect him to keep trying to rescue possessions
[51:25] Speaker 2: after all of these negative plays and turnovers and Seattle's
[51:28] Speaker 2: backup running backs, Emmanuel Wilson and George Holani averaged just
[51:33] Speaker 2: 2.8 yards per carry combined against the Niners. They both
[51:37] Speaker 2: lost fumbles in that game too. So I do just
[51:42] Speaker 2: wonder if they're, Offensive inconsistency is going to be the
[51:45] Speaker 2: thing that kind of keeps them from prevents them from
[51:49] Speaker 2: keeping pace with San Francisco in the division and just
[51:53] Speaker 2: in the NFC in general.
[51:55] Speaker 1: It's too bad losses for them that they probably felt
[51:58] Speaker 1: like they should have won. They set up the 49ers
[52:00] Speaker 1: on a short field a bunch of times, but the
[52:04] Speaker 1: offensive struggles are I think are deeper than that. Cause
[52:07] Speaker 1: the 49ers aren't some world beating defense. They're well coached
[52:12] Speaker 1: and they present problems for you. But actually I think like,
[52:14] Speaker 1: if you look at the rushing success rate and the
[52:16] Speaker 1: passing success rate, like the 49ers were the better team
[52:18] Speaker 1: in that game. It wasn't just turnover. So yeah, Sam
[52:21] Speaker 1: Darnold needs to clean it up. five interceptions and eight
[52:24] Speaker 1: sacks in the last three weeks. That said, I do
[52:26] Speaker 1: think the Seahawks defense is plain to type. They, other
[52:31] Speaker 1: than Minnesota, who we've given a lot of love to,
[52:33] Speaker 1: they are the best defense in the league this year.
[52:36] Speaker 1: And so I think it's a bigger mismatch. Bo Nix
[52:38] Speaker 1: right now is not the same guy. He is giving
[52:40] Speaker 1: you zero rushing value right now. Used to be a
[52:43] Speaker 1: very good scrambler. And so that's something where he had
[52:46] Speaker 1: two surgeries this off season and he looks healthy out there.
[52:50] Speaker 1: but he hasn't been playing with the same sort of
[52:53] Speaker 1: confidence or showing his mobility. So that's a major problem.
[52:57] Speaker 1: He's fumbled the ball five times. Here's a combination of
[53:01] Speaker 1: advanced stats that do not bode well. There's a stat
[53:04] Speaker 1: called on target rate.
[53:05] Speaker 2: Okay.
[53:06] Speaker 1: Basically is an accurate throw on top of like, you know,
[53:09] Speaker 1: completion percentage. He's 20% lower than he was the last
[53:13] Speaker 1: two years, which would basically take you from one of
[53:16] Speaker 1: the most accurate quarterbacks in the league to one of,
[53:18] Speaker 1: if not the most least accurate quarterback in the league.
[53:21] Speaker 1: And then on top of that, he's throwing the ball
[53:24] Speaker 1: way shorter. on average, like one of the, in terms
[53:27] Speaker 1: of average depth of target. So he used to go
[53:29] Speaker 1: down the field more with more accuracy. Now he's throwing
[53:32] Speaker 1: it shorter with less accuracy. And you got to play
[53:36] Speaker 1: this Seattle defense, which I know gave up a couple
[53:38] Speaker 1: of plays, but those are on short fields and, and
[53:40] Speaker 1: Byron Murphy and Lenny Williams and Witherspoon and Eamon worry.
[53:44] Speaker 1: It's healthy. Like if you are a Bo Nix hater
[53:47] Speaker 1: and there are, there are some out there in the media,
[53:50] Speaker 1: I will say. This could be a good Thursday night
[53:52] Speaker 1: game for you.
[53:53] Speaker 2: Yeah, the Seahawks defense, they've allowed just 150 passing yards
[53:57] Speaker 2: per game. They're forcing 11 turnovers. And I think that
[54:03] Speaker 2: some teams have found a little bit of success running
[54:06] Speaker 2: the ball on them. So if Sean Payton can somehow
[54:11] Speaker 2: get J.K. Dobbins and R.J. Harvey to take some pressure
[54:14] Speaker 2: off of Bo Nix, that would help the situation. But
[54:18] Speaker 2: the Seahawks defense is Fantastic. The Denver defense is good,
[54:23] Speaker 2: but they're hurt right now. They're really banged up. They
[54:26] Speaker 2: were missing both starting corners against the Chargers and safety
[54:31] Speaker 2: Talanoa Hufanga. His status is also a little cloudy. He's
[54:35] Speaker 2: dealing with an ankle injury. And so you have a
[54:38] Speaker 2: huge vulnerability there potentially for JSN. to exploit if Sam
[54:44] Speaker 2: Darnold can kind of get it together. But JSN is
[54:46] Speaker 2: also dealing with his own ankle injuries too. And it's
[54:48] Speaker 2: a short week.
[54:48] Speaker 1: Yeah. He, he got banged up late in that game.
[54:51] Speaker 1: So that's something to watch. Glad you pointed out those injuries.
[54:53] Speaker 1: Patrick Sertan, the defense player that you're probably out for
[54:56] Speaker 1: this game has not practiced in the fake estimated practice
[55:00] Speaker 1: reports early in the week. It does sound like Riley
[55:02] Speaker 1: Moss could return. So they might get one of their starters. Yeah,
[55:06] Speaker 1: to me, it's just a question of can Denver's defense
[55:08] Speaker 1: be dominant enough to really hold Seattle down? I don't
[55:13] Speaker 1: think they've been as good this year. They've just been good,
[55:16] Speaker 1: but they have the talent to do so. Zach Allen
[55:19] Speaker 1: and company Nick Benito up front. We will see.
[55:22] Speaker 3: We got orange crush jerseys too.
[55:23] Speaker 1: That's cool. I like that.
[55:25] Speaker 2: And I think Seattle is going to be doing their
[55:27] Speaker 2: like royal blue ones. I think it's going to be
[55:29] Speaker 2: just a full throwback game.
[55:30] Speaker 1: That is a great uniform. Shout out to Dave Damoshek,
[55:34] Speaker 1: who I'm sure is tracking this.
[55:35] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[55:36] Speaker 1: I still like the Seahawks in this game, but short
[55:38] Speaker 1: week in Denver. That's tough. Yeah. You had a tough.
[55:42] Speaker 1: This is a tough one. And you did great. Real
[55:45] Speaker 1: short week. You did great. I was highly entertained. Let's
[55:49] Speaker 1: hit that music. Let's get out of here. Let's talk about.
[55:53] Speaker 1: what we'll do next in the podcast studio. We'll have
[55:56] Speaker 1: you come in for an extra show this week. No,
[55:58] Speaker 1: I'm just kidding. We're going to be part of our
[56:00] Speaker 1: preview show next week. But this week it's me and
[56:03] Speaker 1: Jordan Rodrigue going through all the games. We have four
[56:06] Speaker 1: teams on by this week. That'll be next. In the meantime, Colleen,
[56:10] Speaker 1: get some sleep. Later.
