[0:05] Speaker 1: NFL Daily where the only Gregory on this show is
[0:08] Speaker 1: Nick Gregory Shook. That's right. Middle name reveal on May twentieth.
[0:14] Speaker 1: As we take a look around all the news that's happening,
[0:17] Speaker 1: there's a lot of news. We've got nineteen things we've learned.
[0:20] Speaker 1: Are you ready for another big news show? Nick Gregory Shook?
[0:25] Speaker 2: Oh, I'm so excited for all nineteen points. Nobody's better
[0:28] Speaker 2: than you at pulling all these points together.
[0:30] Speaker 3: But I hope I don't get docs now that everybody
[0:31] Speaker 3: knows my middle.
[0:32] Speaker 1: No, sorry, yeah, my name like your first name, Nick is,
[0:37] Speaker 1: it's a nickname, that's a full name. I mean, there
[0:39] Speaker 1: is no Gregory in Greg Rosenthal. There's no Nicholas in
[0:43] Speaker 1: Nick Shook. Its just the more you know, we're still
[0:45] Speaker 1: learning about.
[0:46] Speaker 2: Our syllables in my middle name that I do in
[0:48] Speaker 2: my first and last name combined.
[0:49] Speaker 1: How about that we've worked together for almost decades, still
[0:53] Speaker 1: learning new things about each other. But I know enough
[0:56] Speaker 1: not to bring up what happened to the Cavaliers last night.
[0:59] Speaker 1: So let's go to point one. When we last last
[1:01] Speaker 1: left off with Rashee Rice. You know we taped on Tuesday,
[1:04] Speaker 1: and we appreciate everyone who's been enjoying these these news ketchups.
[1:07] Speaker 1: We're going to do these every other day roughly, and
[1:10] Speaker 1: when we have some of the bigger shows what we'll
[1:12] Speaker 1: drop those in as well with the rankings. So Rashie Rice,
[1:14] Speaker 1: we mentioned he was going to jail for violating his probation.
[1:18] Speaker 1: What we didn't know is that he also underwent a
[1:20] Speaker 1: cleanup surgery on his right knee to remove loose debris
[1:25] Speaker 1: that was causing inflammation. That's according to ESPN's Adam Schefter,
[1:30] Speaker 1: that surgery is going to knock him off the field
[1:33] Speaker 1: for a couple months. Now he's going to spend you know,
[1:35] Speaker 1: one of those months in jail. It really highlights how
[1:40] Speaker 1: thin this position group is. We we talked about a
[1:44] Speaker 1: little bit glancingly on Tuesday show with Patrick, But yeah,
[1:48] Speaker 1: their number three receivers Taekwon Thornton. Their number two is
[1:50] Speaker 1: Xavier Worthy. I don't even know who they're fourth is
[1:54] Speaker 1: gonna be. And you're counting on Rashee Rice, who has
[1:56] Speaker 1: not proven himself to be reliable off the field. He
[1:59] Speaker 1: had the suspension line last year and now he's spending
[2:02] Speaker 1: time in jail and the surgery I'm sure has the
[2:05] Speaker 1: Chiefs a little worried shook. That gets to our second
[2:08] Speaker 1: point from one of my old colleagues, Albert Breer, could
[2:12] Speaker 1: the Chiefs circle back around on AJ Brown? He threw
[2:17] Speaker 1: that out there, But I don't think Albert Breer just
[2:19] Speaker 1: throws that out there, willy nilly. There was believed to
[2:22] Speaker 1: be some interest before, and who knows, it could be
[2:26] Speaker 1: an agent trying to drum up the market. But this
[2:29] Speaker 1: is the risk for the Patriots of maybe cautiously assuming
[2:33] Speaker 1: a trade is going to happen. Another team could still
[2:36] Speaker 1: jump in here, Like what do you think about what
[2:39] Speaker 1: Rice means to the Chiefs and maybe whether they could
[2:41] Speaker 1: get involved here in the AJ Brown sweepstakes As it were.
[2:45] Speaker 2: It's harder to find what Rashid Rice means to the
[2:46] Speaker 2: Chiefs because we haven't seen much of him over the
[2:48] Speaker 2: last couple of years. But the last time he was
[2:50] Speaker 2: healthy and available, he was an important part of that team.
[2:52] Speaker 2: When they lost him a couple of seasons ago, it
[2:55] Speaker 2: dealt a big blow to their offense. Now we are
[2:57] Speaker 2: also in that time of the off season in which
[2:59] Speaker 2: people like me play matchmaker and write up, you know,
[3:02] Speaker 2: like potential trades. But I don't think that's what Breer's
[3:05] Speaker 2: doing here. I think that you're right. I think there's
[3:07] Speaker 2: a little bit of smoke to this fire. And it's
[3:09] Speaker 2: interesting because oftentimes when these trade talks happen with big names,
[3:13] Speaker 2: you hear about maybe a team or two interested, and
[3:15] Speaker 2: then sometimes the mystery team slides in. We don't even
[3:17] Speaker 2: need the grand reveal if the Chiefs are really Internet
[3:20] Speaker 2: and now they have a bigger reason too, So I
[3:21] Speaker 2: would not at all be surprised if that drives up
[3:24] Speaker 2: the price. And maybe he doesn't just walk directly to
[3:26] Speaker 2: New England.
[3:27] Speaker 1: Stefan Diggs has been sitting out there and his legal
[3:31] Speaker 1: issues have apparently been taken care of, and he's been
[3:35] Speaker 1: the most logical fit for a team like the Rams
[3:39] Speaker 1: or the Chiefs I think specifically that are certainly trying
[3:43] Speaker 1: to win right now and could add some depth to
[3:46] Speaker 1: their receiver group. The Chiefs getting involved in the aj
[3:49] Speaker 1: Brown sweepstakes would be incredible.
[3:51] Speaker 4: Now.
[3:51] Speaker 1: They are second to last in terms of cap space
[3:55] Speaker 1: right now. Six million dollars they still, you know, I'm
[3:58] Speaker 1: not sure if that includes all the rookies that they've signed.
[4:01] Speaker 1: That's some you can always move money around. They're a
[4:04] Speaker 1: team that has been trying to get a little younger,
[4:06] Speaker 1: and yet they're paying a lot of money to guys
[4:08] Speaker 1: like Travis Kelcey and even car Loftis. It might be
[4:12] Speaker 1: tougher for them to fit in to their timeline. But
[4:17] Speaker 1: I look at this team and I think I know
[4:18] Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes is coming off at torny ACL. It's given
[4:21] Speaker 1: a little two thousand and nine Patriots vibes of a
[4:23] Speaker 1: little bit of a reset year, but it's also an
[4:26] Speaker 1: older team on some level. And when you have Patrick Mahomes,
[4:29] Speaker 1: to me, you're always win. Now the AFC is wide open.
[4:33] Speaker 1: I don't think it's crazy because that roster makes a
[4:36] Speaker 1: lot more sense with their see Rice as the two
[4:38] Speaker 1: in Xavier Worthy as the three.
[4:40] Speaker 5: I don't think it would be crazy for them to
[4:42] Speaker 5: go after him.
[4:43] Speaker 2: No, I don't either, And I feel like the you know,
[4:45] Speaker 2: just because they missed the playoffs last year, the window
[4:48] Speaker 2: of timing is strange for them, where the Patriots comparison
[4:51] Speaker 2: is a good one because the Patriots are never not
[4:53] Speaker 2: in the race, but they did have a bit of
[4:55] Speaker 2: a reset at that time, and it feels like the
[4:56] Speaker 2: Chiefs don't necessarily have the time to make such a reset,
[4:59] Speaker 2: so they have to kind of bridge the gap between
[5:01] Speaker 2: the two. Travis Kelce, you know, there was thoughts that
[5:03] Speaker 2: he may retire. He's back for one year. Andy Reid
[5:05] Speaker 2: gets asked about retirement at the end of every season,
[5:08] Speaker 2: and you have Mahomes in his prime coming off of
[5:09] Speaker 2: an acl injury. So there's got to be a sense
[5:12] Speaker 2: of urgency here that could prompt something like that to
[5:14] Speaker 2: get done.
[5:14] Speaker 1: All right, those are our first two points, our third,
[5:17] Speaker 1: and a lot of the show today Shook is going
[5:19] Speaker 1: to be some sound. We got ten teams practicing around
[5:23] Speaker 1: the league, and one of them is the Cincinnati Bengals.
[5:27] Speaker 1: First time we've heard from Joe Burrow since the Bengals
[5:31] Speaker 1: had quite an active offseason. We're going to listen to
[5:35] Speaker 1: two different clips from Burrow in the excitement that he
[5:40] Speaker 1: has entering twenty twenty six.
[5:41] Speaker 6: I just think we know where we needed to be better,
[5:45] Speaker 6: and we went out and aggressively made it happen, and
[5:51] Speaker 6: we filled some holes that we that we have from
[5:53] Speaker 6: years past. Got better at a lot of positions. I'm
[5:58] Speaker 6: the best free agent safety, got the best d tackle
[6:03] Speaker 6: in the league. In my opinion, the front office has
[6:05] Speaker 6: taken a lot of heat from fans, the public, the media,
[6:10] Speaker 6: and you know we can put all that behind us.
[6:14] Speaker 6: They went and made it happen with agency. I thought
[6:17] Speaker 6: the draft, obviously we'll find out.
[6:20] Speaker 7: You saw what this roster looked like in twenty twenty one,
[6:22] Speaker 7: albeit you were young, but that was a super Bowl roster.
[6:26] Speaker 7: Do you think what you see right now from this
[6:29] Speaker 7: organization and in that locker room is a super Bowl roster.
[6:32] Speaker 6: I think this is the most talented roster that we've
[6:34] Speaker 6: had since I've been here.
[6:35] Speaker 5: I love it.
[6:35] Speaker 1: Look Joe Burrow's happiness was kind of a running plot line.
[6:40] Speaker 1: I don't think it's media created. He's contributed to it
[6:44] Speaker 1: in very meaningful ways. He wears his emotions on his sleeves.
[6:48] Speaker 1: I don't think it's crazy. I know Bengals fans don't
[6:50] Speaker 1: want to hear it. To imagine a world where if
[6:53] Speaker 1: they didn't make the moves that he liked, and that
[6:56] Speaker 1: this season didn't go well, that we would be talking
[6:59] Speaker 1: about other teams getting in the mix for Joe Burrow
[7:01] Speaker 1: and trying to give up every possible draft pick there
[7:04] Speaker 1: is to go get him next off season. So I
[7:08] Speaker 1: find it compelling that he's breaking down the tape he
[7:12] Speaker 1: believes that they got Brian Cook, the best free agent safety,
[7:15] Speaker 1: they got the best defensive tackle, and that this is
[7:18] Speaker 1: the most talented Bengals roster that he has ever seen.
[7:22] Speaker 1: The expectations are high, Shookie.
[7:24] Speaker 3: Yeah, and they are.
[7:25] Speaker 2: And I'm glad you brought that up because I felt
[7:28] Speaker 2: like he left somebody out when he said that the
[7:30] Speaker 2: front office took a lot of heat from a number
[7:32] Speaker 2: of different groups of people. I was waiting for him
[7:34] Speaker 2: to say and me because he wasn't like shy about
[7:38] Speaker 2: the fact that he was dissatisfied with the way the
[7:39] Speaker 2: defense has played over the last couple of years. And
[7:41] Speaker 2: when he openly wondered whether he was like, you know,
[7:44] Speaker 2: his long term future, just thought about how long he's
[7:46] Speaker 2: going to play football if he doesn't necessarily enjoy it.
[7:49] Speaker 2: That was applying pressure, and now he's gotten the results
[7:52] Speaker 2: of his actions, which is, hey, go make some moves.
[7:55] Speaker 3: They added like five new starters this year.
[7:57] Speaker 2: You look about Dexter Lawrence, talk about Jonathan Allen, got
[8:00] Speaker 2: Ian Cook, and Boy Mafe. So that's four right there,
[8:03] Speaker 2: and you've got some other guys, including draft pics like
[8:04] Speaker 2: cash Is Hall who could end up in the Star.
[8:06] Speaker 2: I don't know if cash is how initially end up
[8:07] Speaker 2: in the starting rotation. But you've got depth too, You've
[8:09] Speaker 2: got more rotational depth than you had before. So he's right,
[8:12] Speaker 2: this is a very talented roster. It's a lot better
[8:14] Speaker 2: than it was last year, especially on the defensive side
[8:16] Speaker 2: of the ball. But now it's about going and doing it,
[8:19] Speaker 2: and so it's optimism season. Everybody's happy right now. That's
[8:22] Speaker 2: all fine and dandy. I'm sure we're gonna get This
[8:24] Speaker 2: is the best I've ever felt in my life. I've
[8:26] Speaker 2: never thrown it better than I am right now from
[8:28] Speaker 2: him too, if we haven't already. But it ultimately comes
[8:30] Speaker 2: down to how do you produce this fall? At least
[8:33] Speaker 2: now they're better equipped than they were last year.
[8:35] Speaker 1: And I think him saying the most talented roster just
[8:38] Speaker 1: raises the ante here of like what are the expectations?
[8:42] Speaker 1: And I do get a sense the Bengals are going
[8:44] Speaker 1: to be a trendy pick and I'm feeling it too,
[8:47] Speaker 1: of a team that can go far, like why not
[8:49] Speaker 1: the Bengals?
[8:50] Speaker 5: Why if not this year? Then when I would.
[8:53] Speaker 1: Push back that this is the most talented roster because
[8:57] Speaker 1: on the defense, I guess I got to see it
[8:59] Speaker 1: first and that was a pretty good defense back then.
[9:02] Speaker 1: But they are a mature roster to have the trio
[9:06] Speaker 1: with t Higgins and Jamar Chase in their absolute primes
[9:10] Speaker 1: and now Chase Brown in his prime. To me, it
[9:14] Speaker 1: comes down to the offensive line, which was not good
[9:16] Speaker 1: when they made the Super Bowl and it's better now,
[9:18] Speaker 1: but it wasn't very good a year ago. I liked
[9:20] Speaker 1: that they brought back Orlando Brown on a cheap deal
[9:23] Speaker 1: and they didn't string it out with Dalton Riisner, but
[9:25] Speaker 1: they need to play better, especially run blocking early in
[9:29] Speaker 1: the season was bad and pass blocking was pretty bad throughout.
[9:33] Speaker 5: But yes, high expectations for the Cincinnati Bengals. What could
[9:37] Speaker 5: go wrong?
[9:37] Speaker 1: Let's go to Atlanta where we start a lot of
[9:40] Speaker 1: different quarterback talk here in terms of who's getting the reps.
[9:44] Speaker 1: Who's not a little bit of a surprise to start
[9:47] Speaker 1: OTAs when the media went out there, so was Michael
[9:51] Speaker 1: Pennix already on the field splitting reps with Tua Tonga
[9:56] Speaker 1: v LOA. Let's listen to Tua. I mean it's a
[9:59] Speaker 1: penox rat there. Talk about the fact that now he's
[10:02] Speaker 1: got another quarterback taking those reps with him.
[10:04] Speaker 8: I say, I'm running my own race. You know, I can't.
[10:07] Speaker 8: I can't look in another lane, you know. But at
[10:09] Speaker 8: the same time, you know, we are working together, you know,
[10:12] Speaker 8: that's what it's all about, works together and helping each other,
[10:14] Speaker 8: you know, finish the race, and obviously we want to
[10:17] Speaker 8: come out on top, you know, as far as this team. So,
[10:20] Speaker 8: like I said, man, I'm running my own race, but
[10:22] Speaker 8: you know, Tua, Trevor, they all been there, you know,
[10:25] Speaker 8: for me throughout the whole reset or rehab process that
[10:27] Speaker 8: I've been going through, and you know, I'm going to
[10:29] Speaker 8: be there for them throughout, you know, each and every
[10:31] Speaker 8: day out there grinding and in the meeting rooms as well.
[10:33] Speaker 1: Two very distinctive throwing motions, two different body types. But
[10:37] Speaker 1: when I saw that video that the Falcons posted, my
[10:41] Speaker 1: first thought is just like, it's just so weird to see,
[10:43] Speaker 1: you know, two lefties right next to each other just
[10:46] Speaker 1: throwing passes and including Yes, if you're watching us on YouTube,
[10:49] Speaker 1: help us out, like us, subscribe and you can see
[10:53] Speaker 1: you know, a dime from Penix to Drake London get excited, Chucky.
[10:57] Speaker 2: Not excited because look, if they have to go between
[10:59] Speaker 2: one of the two quarterbacks and at the bounce from
[11:01] Speaker 2: Tua to Penis or Penis and two that sort of thing.
[11:03] Speaker 2: At least these receivers want to have to adjust to
[11:05] Speaker 2: a lefty as opposed to a writing they're both south paws.
[11:07] Speaker 2: You know, Let's just build it out even more, Kevin Stefanski.
[11:11] Speaker 2: Tell your front office to go make a move for
[11:14] Speaker 2: your guy that you used to have in Cleveland, Dylan Gabril.
[11:16] Speaker 3: Let's get pre soft paws in the quarterback room. Why not.
[11:18] Speaker 1: I was gonna say, are they the only two lefties
[11:20] Speaker 1: there aren't. There aren't many backups that are lefties either,
[11:23] Speaker 1: But yeah, you could get Gabriel. He might be available.
[11:26] Speaker 1: More on that in a minute. Penick's not doing all
[11:29] Speaker 1: the team drills yet. It's still a little unclear if
[11:32] Speaker 1: he's going to be fully ready for training camp. But
[11:35] Speaker 1: the idea here was that Tua was kind of the favorite,
[11:38] Speaker 1: might be getting all the reps in the off season.
[11:41] Speaker 1: Early signs are that's not necessarily true. In Baltimore, snow
[11:45] Speaker 1: Puntley's getting more reps and OTAs than expected because Lamar Jackson,
[11:51] Speaker 1: despite a lot of talk, and he was there at
[11:53] Speaker 1: the beginning of voluntary work, not there for the start
[11:56] Speaker 1: of OTA's jesse Minter said he was not really concerned
[12:01] Speaker 1: about that, called Lamar Jackson a leader and that they've
[12:04] Speaker 1: had conversations and that he will be back soon, So
[12:07] Speaker 1: it's nothing major. I wanted to get your thoughts though,
[12:10] Speaker 1: Nick on Jesse Minter and some of the early reporting
[12:14] Speaker 1: coming out from Ravens camp. Every head coach that is
[12:19] Speaker 1: just starting their regime has their little wrinkles that they
[12:23] Speaker 1: throw into practice that they're like, hey, here's here's going
[12:26] Speaker 1: to be our focus. Minter's focus, and it has the
[12:30] Speaker 1: playoffs in mind. His quote is be at your best
[12:33] Speaker 1: when your best is required. A lot of words there,
[12:37] Speaker 1: but they're calling it like the be at your best
[12:39] Speaker 1: when the best is required. Competitions to end every single
[12:44] Speaker 1: practice where the offense and the defense goes against each other.
[12:46] Speaker 1: Right now, because of the rules and OTAs, they can't
[12:50] Speaker 1: even do football against each other, so they just have
[12:53] Speaker 1: the offense and the defense going against each other with
[12:56] Speaker 1: competitive planking was how he did it last week when
[12:59] Speaker 1: the media was there, and then a competition of just
[13:02] Speaker 1: who can throw the ball further and choosing two random
[13:06] Speaker 1: players between the offense and the defense.
[13:08] Speaker 5: If you're curious.
[13:09] Speaker 1: Eliza Sarrat, the rookie wide receiver, won the day for
[13:12] Speaker 1: the offense by chucking that ball pretty far. What do
[13:15] Speaker 1: you think about the jesse Minter sprinkle to how he's
[13:19] Speaker 1: conducting practices.
[13:21] Speaker 3: It's very collegiate of him.
[13:22] Speaker 2: And if I didn't know that he came from the
[13:25] Speaker 2: Horrbaw Tree, I would have asked if he was from
[13:27] Speaker 2: the horrorw Tree because it's very much something that the
[13:28] Speaker 2: Horrorballs would do. I think it fits like the Ravens culture,
[13:31] Speaker 2: even though they moved on from John Like, it's still
[13:33] Speaker 2: that's kind of their their mo is to do things
[13:36] Speaker 2: like that. So I mean, obviously we're not going to
[13:38] Speaker 2: see whether that produces anything until the season, but it
[13:41] Speaker 2: seems like the and this happens against with every coach
[13:43] Speaker 2: because it's new, and everybody likes something that's new because
[13:45] Speaker 2: it's sparkly and it's fresh and it's different. But the
[13:49] Speaker 2: vibes that have come from Ravens offseason activities and everything
[13:52] Speaker 2: else so far has been very positive with jesse mentor
[13:55] Speaker 2: so and like that includes the comments on Lamar and
[13:57] Speaker 2: Lamar showing up for workouts before he took this planned absence,
[14:01] Speaker 2: like the everything is just all hunky dory in Baltimore.
[14:03] Speaker 3: We'll see when it comes to the season.
[14:04] Speaker 1: Yeah, I just want to throw this into the show
[14:07] Speaker 1: because I find someone who likes to follow the NFL
[14:10] Speaker 1: every day, these little differences of the head coaches and
[14:13] Speaker 1: what they do, and sometimes it becomes the thing you
[14:15] Speaker 1: remember most about those coaches, like Joe Judge jumping in
[14:19] Speaker 1: the mud during the like the loose ball drill, and
[14:24] Speaker 1: we're going to talk about Jeff Haffley in a minute.
[14:26] Speaker 1: I saw him getting involved with one of those tubes
[14:29] Speaker 1: where he's trying to knock the ball out of the players,
[14:32] Speaker 1: like he's.
[14:32] Speaker 5: Getting in the mix.
[14:33] Speaker 1: And so this is Jesse Minner's little spin and he
[14:35] Speaker 1: talked about it afterwards too, of just that the focus
[14:38] Speaker 1: for them is playing better when it really matters, and
[14:43] Speaker 1: I think that's it's not a pointed remark about how
[14:45] Speaker 1: the past has been in Baltimore, but yeah, they have
[14:48] Speaker 1: not closed their seasons how they've wanted to. Speaking of
[14:52] Speaker 1: quarterbacks at OTAs getting their work in, Josh Allen just
[14:56] Speaker 1: wanted to note fully practicing at OTAs he had a
[15:00] Speaker 1: procedure this offseason. They said it wasn't gonna, you know,
[15:04] Speaker 1: set him back too far, and it hasn't. So he's
[15:06] Speaker 1: out there practicing and one of the players that he
[15:09] Speaker 1: is throwing the ball to this is our This is
[15:11] Speaker 1: our eighth point. By the way, if you're keeping track
[15:13] Speaker 1: at home, is Keon Coleman. Nick Shook wrote a whole
[15:16] Speaker 1: article about Kean Coleman and his statements on Tuesday. Let's
[15:23] Speaker 1: listen to his back and forth with the Bills reporters.
[15:26] Speaker 3: How do you such last season and how things went last.
[15:30] Speaker 5: Season for you?
[15:31] Speaker 9: Uh, I mean getting a benched four games something like
[15:35] Speaker 9: that unacceptable, ended off on the decent note, got a touchdown,
[15:40] Speaker 9: so that was I wouldn't even call it that conference
[15:42] Speaker 9: to Its just a positive tend of the season on
[15:44] Speaker 9: but we lost, so it's another negative to uh to
[15:48] Speaker 9: erase that. But I mean, I don't need something motivation.
[15:51] Speaker 9: I know what I'm here to do and i know
[15:53] Speaker 9: what I'm capable of doing.
[15:54] Speaker 5: MM To be clear, he said, ass just we're allowed.
[15:58] Speaker 1: We're actually allowed to say the Bills team site courtesy.
[16:03] Speaker 1: They gave us that video and we appreciate them. Your
[16:06] Speaker 1: thoughts on Kean Coleman entering this season.
[16:10] Speaker 2: Sure, I was glad that he said what we all
[16:13] Speaker 2: already thought and what I may be working on, which
[16:15] Speaker 2: is that it is a make or break season for him.
[16:17] Speaker 2: This is, you know, going into year three. This is
[16:20] Speaker 2: the thirty third overall pick few years ago who has
[16:22] Speaker 2: not lived up to the expectation of a number one receiver,
[16:24] Speaker 2: a guy who just disappeared from the game plan healthy
[16:27] Speaker 2: scratches over multiple weeks last season. There was a period
[16:29] Speaker 2: in which it seemed like they refused to run him
[16:31] Speaker 2: inside the numbers. He just hasn't been the guy that
[16:33] Speaker 2: they thought he would be when they moved on from
[16:35] Speaker 2: Stefan Diggs. Those are big shoes to fill, but he
[16:37] Speaker 2: hasn't come anywhere close. And this is a team that's
[16:39] Speaker 2: consistently had receiver problems over the last few years, basically
[16:42] Speaker 2: since they moved on from Diggs.
[16:43] Speaker 3: Even going to the.
[16:43] Speaker 2: Playoffs last year was well, all of our receivers are
[16:46] Speaker 2: hurt and Brandon Cooks is our best guy. Kean Coleman
[16:49] Speaker 2: needs to be your best guy, and he needs to
[16:51] Speaker 2: do that this year or else he's probably gonna be
[16:53] Speaker 2: looking for a new home and a much lower salary
[16:55] Speaker 2: than he would like.
[16:56] Speaker 1: I mean, that sounds great. I got breaking news for you, Shoo,
[16:59] Speaker 1: He's not going to be either beat guy. Yeah, there's
[17:02] Speaker 1: no reason to think he's going to be better than
[17:03] Speaker 1: DJ Moore and Khalil Shakira. I will take a slightly
[17:06] Speaker 1: better version of rookie Keon Coleman just helping out as
[17:10] Speaker 1: the best guy maybe in that X spot on the
[17:12] Speaker 1: outside as a as a role player.
[17:15] Speaker 5: But maybe maybe you think he can be better.
[17:18] Speaker 3: Maybe you think that's why he says it's make or
[17:20] Speaker 3: break for him.
[17:20] Speaker 2: Though from his perspective, he needs to be significantly better
[17:23] Speaker 2: than he was over the last in two years combined,
[17:25] Speaker 2: he has less than a thousand receiving yards. Now he's
[17:27] Speaker 2: actually racked up a good amount of touchdowns given the
[17:29] Speaker 2: fact that he hasn't broken a thousand receiving yards. But
[17:31] Speaker 2: from his perspective, if he's going to actually maximize his
[17:34] Speaker 2: career in his earning power, because he's the make or
[17:36] Speaker 2: break year and he does have to climb up into
[17:38] Speaker 2: that upper stratosphere with the Bills receiver.
[17:40] Speaker 1: You know what's crazy is he broke one hundred yards
[17:42] Speaker 1: in that opening week game against the Ravens, I mean
[17:46] Speaker 1: last year, and if you talk to us about like
[17:49] Speaker 1: what we thought about Keon Coleman at that point.
[17:52] Speaker 5: I was excited about him.
[17:53] Speaker 1: He actually had a pretty good rookie year for a
[17:55] Speaker 1: twenty one year old receiver, and you do worry a
[17:59] Speaker 1: little bit. He tried to cite the touchdown that he
[18:01] Speaker 1: had in the Divisional round game against the Broncos, and
[18:04] Speaker 1: I was like, oh, yeah, I kind of forgot you
[18:06] Speaker 1: had a touchdown there, because what I remember is he
[18:08] Speaker 1: completely bricked and dropped a wide open touchdown on one
[18:13] Speaker 1: of the best plays Josh Allen made all season long
[18:16] Speaker 1: earlier in that game now would have been called back
[18:18] Speaker 1: by a holding penalty that had nothing to do with him.
[18:20] Speaker 1: Eric is smiling at me, but I know he remembers
[18:23] Speaker 1: that play too.
[18:23] Speaker 10: No, there was there was a stretch of games where
[18:25] Speaker 10: I think back to back games KENK Coleman just had
[18:29] Speaker 10: a Josh Allen missile thrown directly off his face mask,
[18:32] Speaker 10: like two or three on the goal line.
[18:33] Speaker 5: He had a rough season. I have faith in Konk Coleman,
[18:36] Speaker 5: I really do.
[18:37] Speaker 10: I know I poked fun at him in an episode
[18:39] Speaker 10: a couple months ago.
[18:40] Speaker 2: Okay, but I have faith in good twenty all right,
[18:42] Speaker 2: Joe Brady, all right, all right, Brandon Bean, We'll see.
[18:45] Speaker 1: I have faith in him to be what I said,
[18:47] Speaker 1: which would be like the third most important wide receiver
[18:50] Speaker 1: on that roster and maybe the fourth most important pass
[18:52] Speaker 1: catcher with Dalton Kincaid and who knows even James Cook
[18:55] Speaker 1: getting in the mix, but providing an important role as
[18:58] Speaker 1: a guy who's going to help out in the red zone.
[18:59] Speaker 1: Get get six hundred and fifty yards. Just just be better.
[19:03] Speaker 1: So that's our eighth point. Number nine is a quick one.
[19:05] Speaker 1: Justin Herbert not at ots. If we're gonna keep mentioning like, oh,
[19:08] Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson's not there, So just happened to note that
[19:11] Speaker 1: Justin Herbert has not been Ota at OTA's the last
[19:15] Speaker 1: two weeks when the media was there. Well, it's he
[19:17] Speaker 1: taping too many music videos with his girlfriend. He's gone
[19:20] Speaker 1: on Hollywood. Justin Herbert, let's go to Cleveland where Deshaun
[19:25] Speaker 1: Watson first up in drills. We don't need to linger
[19:28] Speaker 1: on this, it's just the day the media is there.
[19:31] Speaker 1: But should hear Sanders over on the side field with
[19:34] Speaker 1: the second team while Deshaun Watson is first up in drills.
[19:38] Speaker 1: The drum beat continues that this could be Deshaun Watson's job.
[19:42] Speaker 2: Get those tenfoil hats out SR door fans, because you're
[19:45] Speaker 2: just gonna say he's getting sabotaged again.
[19:47] Speaker 3: Be on the side field of the second team.
[19:49] Speaker 2: Todd Lunkin was asked after practice today whether he saw
[19:52] Speaker 2: a favorite in the quarterback battle so far, and he said, no, So, okay,
[19:55] Speaker 2: we're far away from that, but I'm telling you they're
[19:57] Speaker 2: laying the groundwork for DeShawn to be their starter.
[20:00] Speaker 1: As if the Calves blowing a twenty two point lead
[20:04] Speaker 1: with seven and a half minutes remaining, do.
[20:06] Speaker 2: You understand how much pain I was in last night
[20:10] Speaker 2: and this morning. We're just night. Just twist the knife deeper.
[20:15] Speaker 1: I'm a jerk, but as you told me, that shows
[20:17] Speaker 1: that we are, you know, really true. It's your love language. Yeah,
[20:20] Speaker 1: we're boys ultimately that we can feel comfortable enough about.
[20:25] Speaker 1: I can imagine a fraction of the pain, just even
[20:27] Speaker 1: a fraction.
[20:28] Speaker 3: Just just call a time out, please.
[20:30] Speaker 1: Because honestly, I'm not I'm not a Knicks fan. I'm
[20:33] Speaker 1: rooting for the Calves here and I I had turned
[20:36] Speaker 1: it off thinking that game's over and then I and
[20:38] Speaker 1: I think I saw about three and a half minutes left,
[20:41] Speaker 1: it's getting closer, and it paid me to watch that.
[20:43] Speaker 5: So I can only imagine, why do we do that.
[20:46] Speaker 2: You have not been you haven't been seasoned by Cleveland
[20:48] Speaker 2: heartbreak like I have. I was never comfortable and then
[20:50] Speaker 2: it all fell apart and I saw it all coming.
[20:51] Speaker 2: It was like a car crash that you knew was coming,
[20:53] Speaker 2: but you couldn't stop.
[20:54] Speaker 1: It does make you wonder, because I was talking about
[20:56] Speaker 1: this with with my beautiful wife last night that it
[21:01] Speaker 1: really hurt that when the Celtics lost and everything, But
[21:03] Speaker 1: I was just thinking how much more pleasant the last
[21:05] Speaker 1: three weeks have been compared to like a normal May that, like,
[21:08] Speaker 1: let's just check let's just check out the Cavs game,
[21:11] Speaker 1: nixt game for like a little bit, and then let's
[21:13] Speaker 1: let's switch over to the Dodgers for a nice May game.
[21:16] Speaker 1: I'm just I'm I'm happier. So what are we doing here?
[21:21] Speaker 1: Browns QUINCHI junkins part of team drills. I just want
[21:24] Speaker 1: to throw that out there. Coming back from a important
[21:27] Speaker 1: surgery again, team drills in these OTAs. It's not real football,
[21:30] Speaker 1: it's shorts, it doesn't have uh, you know, the pads
[21:34] Speaker 1: on or anything. But still nice to hear that Quinchohn Junkins,
[21:37] Speaker 1: who I don't think is a lot to be ready
[21:39] Speaker 1: for a week one is out there that that is
[21:41] Speaker 1: a sign that it could be happening. Let's go to
[21:43] Speaker 1: Miami where I got three different points. Number one, Jordan Brooks,
[21:48] Speaker 1: Aaron Brewer, their linebacker and their center, who are talked
[21:53] Speaker 1: about as as the weight bearing walls of the new regime, pillars,
[21:58] Speaker 1: the pillars they gave on e Chan his contract. They
[22:01] Speaker 1: both want new contracts, they're working on new contracts, they
[22:05] Speaker 1: are not holding out for new contracts, and both said
[22:08] Speaker 1: they're happy to be their happy eight. Chan got his money.
[22:11] Speaker 1: Malik Willis also there, first time he has spoken to
[22:15] Speaker 1: the media since they traded away his number one wide receiver.
[22:20] Speaker 1: I don't know who is number one wide receiver? Is
[22:23] Speaker 1: Willis asked about the trade of Jalen Waddle.
[22:26] Speaker 10: Yeah, we've spoken to you since it happened. So what
[22:27] Speaker 10: was your reaction with that?
[22:28] Speaker 11: Cherlie Wattle was traded and you knew you wouldn't.
[22:31] Speaker 10: Hurt about that.
[22:32] Speaker 9: I was unfortunate, for sure, to say the least. That's
[22:34] Speaker 9: a really good player and I would I love to
[22:36] Speaker 9: play with him, but I don't know.
[22:38] Speaker 11: That's above my pay grade.
[22:39] Speaker 5: Brother, out of my hands.
[22:42] Speaker 2: It's the brother at the end, like, don't ask me
[22:45] Speaker 2: about this man, That's all I can say about it.
[22:48] Speaker 1: You could almost hear him catch himself when he said
[22:52] Speaker 1: that's unfortunate, like I would have loved to throw him
[22:55] Speaker 1: because of course that's the natural reaction, and no one's
[22:57] Speaker 1: gonna fault him for saying that. But he's just not
[22:59] Speaker 1: even used to being the starting quarterback. And you could
[23:02] Speaker 1: almost hear him thinking, like, oh, should I not even
[23:04] Speaker 1: have said that? Because I got no problem with it.
[23:06] Speaker 1: You know, I understand what's happening here. It's out of
[23:09] Speaker 1: his pay grade. But let's let's help Malik Willis out shuck.
[23:13] Speaker 1: Let's let's get three receivers right now. Okay, there it is.
[23:18] Speaker 1: I'm so glad that's clear.
[23:19] Speaker 2: Keep that, please, Malik Washington Jalen Tolbert to two at Well, yeah,
[23:26] Speaker 2: that's about my pay grade too.
[23:27] Speaker 1: Brother Chris Bell coming off a torn acl from Louisville.
[23:32] Speaker 1: I'm very intrigued by him. Probably not the early start
[23:35] Speaker 1: of the season, but by the end. Caleb Douglas is
[23:38] Speaker 1: a third round receiver they took that was a surprise
[23:41] Speaker 1: to many people will have the advantage of being a
[23:44] Speaker 1: guy they took there. But yeah, it's I think it's
[23:46] Speaker 1: number one receiver, Davon Han, number two tight end. It's
[23:49] Speaker 1: the Greg Dulcic comeback season, number fourteen. In terms of
[23:54] Speaker 1: our points, we're moving pretty quickly here.
[23:56] Speaker 5: Is that?
[23:57] Speaker 1: Just Jeff Halfley is the man I like, like I said,
[24:00] Speaker 1: to learn about these new coaches by hearing what they're
[24:04] Speaker 1: doing for the drills at the end of the practice.
[24:06] Speaker 1: Remember Mike McCarthy has his section at the end of
[24:10] Speaker 1: the practice. We heard about Jesse Minter. Now we've got
[24:14] Speaker 1: Jeff Haffley who is miked up. This sound is courtesy
[24:17] Speaker 1: of the Miami Dolphins. This isn't really a section. It's
[24:20] Speaker 1: just giving a feel of like who he is as
[24:22] Speaker 1: a coach at the end of his ota on Tuesday.
[24:26] Speaker 12: Understand the urgency, guys, we don't have many of these.
[24:29] Speaker 12: There's two done. These are gonna go fast. We have
[24:32] Speaker 12: to get better every day. You have to find a
[24:34] Speaker 12: way to get better every day. And there's a lot
[24:36] Speaker 12: more mental right now than there is physical. That's just
[24:39] Speaker 12: the way this thing is built, right, So you gotta
[24:41] Speaker 12: get on the tape. If you need extra up, you
[24:43] Speaker 12: gotta see your coaches tomorrow. There's gonna be more installs.
[24:46] Speaker 12: Each day, there's gonna be more installs. This is not slow.
[24:49] Speaker 12: You guys understand what I'm saying. So the urgency's gotta
[24:52] Speaker 12: build and we gotta get better every single day. We
[24:54] Speaker 12: don't have time. There's a race for that good work.
[24:57] Speaker 12: Your effort was outstanding. I can't wait to watch the
[24:59] Speaker 12: film go.
[25:02] Speaker 5: Like that.
[25:03] Speaker 1: Malik I like is breaking down the team as the
[25:06] Speaker 1: as the leader. Malik willis. And if you are grading
[25:12] Speaker 1: that speech in Madden, like Halfley gets a grade for
[25:17] Speaker 1: you know, there's awareness and change the direction for the players.
[25:20] Speaker 1: That's that's post At a o TA speech, what do
[25:24] Speaker 1: you give out.
[25:25] Speaker 2: Of inspiration plus one, motivation plus two and that's it.
[25:30] Speaker 1: I want an overall out of one hundred. I want
[25:32] Speaker 1: to an overall out of one hundred seventy nine.
[25:38] Speaker 5: I'm going to give him in eighty nine.
[25:40] Speaker 3: He just gave him an agenda. It's like syllabus week. Hey, tomorrow,
[25:43] Speaker 3: we're gonna be more installed. Stay fun, do your homework.
[25:46] Speaker 1: The playbook authoritative just seems like a guy who's comfortable
[25:50] Speaker 1: in front of the room. There was some talk about
[25:52] Speaker 1: halfway of like he might be better as a head
[25:55] Speaker 1: coach than he was as a coordinator, like a guy
[25:58] Speaker 1: that that players want to to follow, and so I
[26:01] Speaker 1: think he fills that role. I liked it. It's like
[26:05] Speaker 1: our shows. I'm going to give myself a lower grade.
[26:08] Speaker 1: Our show on Monday shook. It was about forty minutes.
[26:11] Speaker 1: It probably could have been thirty three, you know, thirty
[26:14] Speaker 1: two for a mid May show. Let's get people from
[26:16] Speaker 1: Let's get people in and out. Okay, that's fourteen points.
[26:19] Speaker 1: We're getting all the way to twenty, a nice round number.
[26:21] Speaker 1: I started off saying it was going to be nineteen shook,
[26:26] Speaker 1: But we have some Aaron Rodgers news that we're going
[26:28] Speaker 1: to end the show with. Before that, we're going to
[26:30] Speaker 1: get to point number fifteen. Jackson Dart at a fan
[26:35] Speaker 1: team event said something I found interesting that he believes
[26:39] Speaker 1: that they will be a run first team. Don't worry
[26:42] Speaker 1: about us throwing the ball all over the yard. Matt
[26:44] Speaker 1: n Aggie and this John Harbaugh Giants offense. They want
[26:48] Speaker 1: to run the ball first. That's the identity that they
[26:51] Speaker 1: are trying to establish. To that point, Kem'skatabu at the
[26:55] Speaker 1: same event, was talking about his year and he said
[26:59] Speaker 1: it wasn't really a sixestful year for him. He pointed
[27:02] Speaker 1: out he had four hundred yards on one hundred carries
[27:05] Speaker 1: in limited games. He says, when I play seventeen plus
[27:10] Speaker 1: games this year, it's gonna be three hundred carries for
[27:14] Speaker 1: over two thousand yards. That too high a number there, Shuck,
[27:22] Speaker 1: what do you think.
[27:23] Speaker 2: Look, there's no knock on Arizona State education or what
[27:26] Speaker 2: kind of student camp scatboy was. But math says, four
[27:29] Speaker 2: hundred yards and one hundred carries is four yards per carry,
[27:32] Speaker 2: and if you multiply that by three, that's twelve hundred yards. Yeah,
[27:35] Speaker 2: not over two thousand yards. So that's a very high expectation.
[27:38] Speaker 2: And I also like the addition of seventeen plus games,
[27:41] Speaker 2: as in, we're going to be in the playoffs. Look,
[27:44] Speaker 2: be optimistic, set the goals high, stay on.
[27:47] Speaker 3: The field as much as possible. That's what I need
[27:49] Speaker 3: to see from them.
[27:50] Speaker 1: I love that point by you, the seventeen plus I
[27:54] Speaker 1: missed that entirely.
[27:57] Speaker 5: I also love it.
[27:58] Speaker 1: He wasn't trying to say, if you just you know,
[28:01] Speaker 1: paste it out one hundred times three. I mean, you know,
[28:04] Speaker 1: he's saying he was disappointed only four yards per carry.
[28:08] Speaker 5: That's not enough for him.
[28:09] Speaker 1: Now, if he could actually go, you know, between six
[28:14] Speaker 1: and seven yards per carry.
[28:15] Speaker 5: That that that's over six and a half yards per carry.
[28:17] Speaker 1: If you do the math, that's one of the greatest
[28:20] Speaker 1: running back seasons, maybe you know, the greatest of all time.
[28:24] Speaker 3: That would be in terms of total yards, that would
[28:26] Speaker 3: be in the top three or four.
[28:28] Speaker 5: All you figure he gets for that.
[28:31] Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I'm saying he's saying, I'm talking about rushing yards. Yeah,
[28:36] Speaker 2: yards from scrimmage woul also be a fantastic season.
[28:37] Speaker 5: For sure.
[28:39] Speaker 1: He is maybe not the best indication of Arizona State's
[28:44] Speaker 1: education when when I've heard him talk, and yet you
[28:47] Speaker 1: know who else graduated from Arizona State, Jordan rod Rieg
[28:51] Speaker 1: and as she did, as she's pointed out to me,
[28:54] Speaker 1: like the journalism program, there great tradition. So I've learned
[28:57] Speaker 1: that about the sun Devils and kite. I think Scatabu
[29:01] Speaker 1: has just got to get healthy for a week one.
[29:03] Speaker 1: Although there's less around him than I expected. They're they're
[29:06] Speaker 1: kind of running it back with that same group. Devin
[29:09] Speaker 1: singletary is there and uh, Kim Skataboo, who am I
[29:13] Speaker 1: forgetting third year player? Come on, Tyrone Tracy, Tyrone Tracy?
[29:17] Speaker 1: Is there depth there?
[29:19] Speaker 3: I don't like the offensive lily that much.
[29:21] Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't necessarily think scataboy even leads the team
[29:24] Speaker 1: in carries, but he's just got to prove that he's healthy.
[29:27] Speaker 1: While we're going around the different teams, let's just take
[29:32] Speaker 1: a step back for a second and let's talk about
[29:34] Speaker 1: some league events. We indicated Nashville could be getting the
[29:37] Speaker 1: twenty thirty Super Bowls. My goal to stay employed until
[29:41] Speaker 1: we get there. It is official now we now now
[29:43] Speaker 1: the next four Super Bowls will be LA Atlanta, Vegas,
[29:47] Speaker 1: and Nashville. So my goal shook is for the two
[29:50] Speaker 1: of us to be to be part of the NFL
[29:52] Speaker 1: daily coverage for all four of those.
[29:53] Speaker 5: That's official.
[29:54] Speaker 1: The NFL owners also voted to increase the amount of
[29:58] Speaker 1: international games that can be approved to ten.
[30:03] Speaker 5: That would be for next season.
[30:04] Speaker 1: That does not include the Jags Wembley game, so it
[30:07] Speaker 1: could be all the way up to eleven. The more
[30:10] Speaker 1: interesting part of this point is that they no longer
[30:14] Speaker 1: allow teams to protect home games from being taken away
[30:19] Speaker 1: from them for international series. In the past, they could
[30:23] Speaker 1: protect a ton of games, and then the protections kept
[30:25] Speaker 1: going lower and lower, and we were at the point
[30:27] Speaker 1: now where teams could only protect two games. And that's
[30:30] Speaker 1: the reason Shook more than anything else that you're seeing
[30:33] Speaker 1: better international games this year is because the home teams
[30:36] Speaker 1: weren't being able to say, sorry, you can't take that
[30:39] Speaker 1: game from us. And now there's better there's no protections
[30:42] Speaker 1: at all, so we might see even better international games
[30:45] Speaker 1: a year from now.
[30:46] Speaker 2: Yeah, we're going to see a better international slate.
[30:49] Speaker 3: We were seeing a better holiday slate.
[30:51] Speaker 2: The league is going very aggressive with the matchups, at
[30:53] Speaker 2: least in terms of projections for these big time stage events,
[30:56] Speaker 2: which is what they do.
[30:57] Speaker 3: That's how you grow the game.
[30:58] Speaker 2: It's I'm telling you, it's the steady march toward every
[31:02] Speaker 2: team getting one at some point in the next three
[31:05] Speaker 2: or four years. And it starts by putting marque matchups,
[31:07] Speaker 2: because once you normalize marquee matchups overseas, then it's like
[31:11] Speaker 2: a runaway train and you can open all the doors
[31:13] Speaker 2: for all the big time games.
[31:14] Speaker 5: Yeah you can. You can't go back and calm down.
[31:16] Speaker 1: We got that's you're adding you're making an eighteen game
[31:20] Speaker 1: season eventually, but we've already added one game. Be generous,
[31:23] Speaker 1: and you're still going to get eight home games in
[31:26] Speaker 1: that season. Like that, right, but you're still getting eight
[31:30] Speaker 1: home games in that season. They only do it generally
[31:33] Speaker 1: unless you're a Jaguars fan. When when you've got the
[31:36] Speaker 1: extra home game, they're thinking about this, they're not thinking
[31:39] Speaker 1: about how to properly respect Jackson Smith and jig But
[31:43] Speaker 1: I can't believe after what Drewski did at the NFL
[31:46] Speaker 1: Honors making a joke about his name, which legitimately was disrespectful,
[31:50] Speaker 1: and I think Honors could have done a better job
[31:52] Speaker 1: apologizing and making amends to that on the night instead
[31:56] Speaker 1: of kind of later while everyone forgot saying something about
[31:59] Speaker 1: it else sends him the Offensive Player of the Year award.
[32:03] Speaker 1: I believe we have the graphic to it where they
[32:08] Speaker 1: misspell offensive player of the Year. His brother tweeted about
[32:16] Speaker 1: this and and was quite annoyed about it. Jackson Smith
[32:19] Speaker 1: and Jigba put it out on stories and just saying
[32:22] Speaker 1: it's getting disrespectful at this point looking at it, everyone
[32:26] Speaker 1: made an understandable assumption shook that they misspelled defensive Player
[32:33] Speaker 1: of the Year or that it was a defensive Player
[32:36] Speaker 1: of the Year award, because it looks like it says
[32:38] Speaker 1: defensive player of the year, but it was actually somehow
[32:42] Speaker 1: misspelling offensive player of the year. They essentially just changed
[32:46] Speaker 1: the d and defensive Player of the Year to oh.
[32:49] Speaker 1: I mean, it's und it's unbelievable. I mean, you were
[32:52] Speaker 1: you work right, and you're you're into copy editing. I mean,
[32:55] Speaker 1: what about attention to detail? Here shook exactly. Quality control
[32:59] Speaker 1: major fail. You're in quality control. You're getting that thing
[33:01] Speaker 1: in grave. You're telling me that's not clearing a couple
[33:03] Speaker 1: of people.
[33:04] Speaker 2: What are we doing, folks, I as a former copy
[33:07] Speaker 2: editor for a long time and somebody who prides himself
[33:09] Speaker 2: on submitting clean copy. Get it together, run a spell check.
[33:13] Speaker 2: It's built in. For god's sake, they.
[33:17] Speaker 5: They got to.
[33:18] Speaker 1: I'm shocked actually that there wouldn't be more quality, because
[33:21] Speaker 1: it has to mean that only one or two people
[33:23] Speaker 1: looked at that award before they put it. Yeah, at
[33:24] Speaker 1: most just the guy that made it, I presume, and
[33:29] Speaker 1: then they just passed it on and gave it over
[33:31] Speaker 1: to the FedEx.
[33:32] Speaker 2: The effects of the Great Dump Down we're all reliant
[33:35] Speaker 2: on technology, we forget how to spell.
[33:36] Speaker 1: It is crazy too. It would have been more disrespect.
[33:39] Speaker 1: It would have been insane if they had misspelled his name.
[33:41] Speaker 1: It was that's just sloppy. Obviously, could have happened to
[33:44] Speaker 1: any player, but the fact that it happened to Smith
[33:46] Speaker 1: and Jigbow was insane. After the juiceky thing, I don't
[33:50] Speaker 1: mind him and his brother feeling a certain type of way.
[33:52] Speaker 1: Our final two points, number nineteen is Michael Pittman, who
[33:57] Speaker 1: remarked just how odd it was. Yes, Michael Pittman is
[34:01] Speaker 1: a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He's out there first
[34:04] Speaker 1: day of OTAs it's a whole new world, and there
[34:07] Speaker 1: he is catching passes from the multiple time MVP Aaron Rodgers.
[34:13] Speaker 4: Even in like the first day, I mean, he made
[34:15] Speaker 4: a couple of great throws and I was like, wow,
[34:18] Speaker 4: like I'm really playing with Aaron. So it's great. I mean,
[34:21] Speaker 4: I get to play with another Hall of Fame quarterback
[34:24] Speaker 4: because I got to play with Philip Rivers. So I'm
[34:27] Speaker 4: gonna say he's gonna make it, but so this is
[34:30] Speaker 4: my second so it's great.
[34:32] Speaker 1: What respect not just for Philip Rivers, but for all
[34:37] Speaker 1: of us that do this for a living. I hate
[34:39] Speaker 1: it when just the broadcasters throw out, oh, future Hall
[34:41] Speaker 1: of famer. Pittman caught himself in the moment and wanted
[34:44] Speaker 1: to explain, I'm not just throwing that out there. I
[34:47] Speaker 1: believe Philip Rivers should be in, but we welcome you.
[34:51] Speaker 5: Michael Pittman.
[34:52] Speaker 1: I am the self appointed chairman of the Rivers for
[34:56] Speaker 1: Canton campaign. We now have an extra five years off
[34:59] Speaker 1: we didn't expect, but I will be leading the campaign
[35:03] Speaker 1: in about five years.
[35:04] Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm very happy to say that I occupy a
[35:07] Speaker 2: co vice chair seat with Michael Pittman Junior now on
[35:11] Speaker 2: this board as we get Philip Rivers the Canton. Yeah, Mike,
[35:14] Speaker 2: Michael's gonna have to play another five years to figure
[35:16] Speaker 2: out whether that comes true. Four MVPs, by the way,
[35:19] Speaker 2: for Rodgers, and that's how many times that Pittman has scored.
[35:23] Speaker 2: He's caught four touchdown passes twice in his career. Over well,
[35:26] Speaker 2: we have six seasons here, twenty five total. I think
[35:29] Speaker 2: it would be a very successful first and probably only
[35:32] Speaker 2: year with Aaron Rodgers if he clears that by one
[35:36] Speaker 2: and a half to two times. If he gets to eight,
[35:38] Speaker 2: which would be a career high, wildly successful run with
[35:41] Speaker 2: Aaron Rodgers.
[35:42] Speaker 1: I knew Rogers had four, but it was just in
[35:45] Speaker 1: my head that it's crazy how Tom Brady quote unquote
[35:50] Speaker 1: only had three, and then you know Rogers got four.
[35:54] Speaker 5: Manning's got more than Brady.
[35:56] Speaker 1: He's got five, right, And there was his graphic going
[36:00] Speaker 1: around this week that annoyed Saints fans and it was like,
[36:03] Speaker 1: you know, who's the essentially the worst player out of
[36:06] Speaker 1: some horrible AI image of him and Mahomes and Brady
[36:11] Speaker 1: and Manning and Rogers all together, And to me, it's
[36:15] Speaker 1: kind of clearly Drew Brees. And they were like all
[36:17] Speaker 1: offended that that would even be a question.
[36:20] Speaker 5: Aaron Rodgers won four MVPs. What are we doing here?
[36:24] Speaker 1: Yeah, unless you're trying to say that Mahomes isn't yet
[36:28] Speaker 1: better than Drew Brees. But I'm all about peak and
[36:30] Speaker 1: there's no question. It's like when they assemble like a
[36:32] Speaker 1: somebody sent me a.
[36:33] Speaker 2: Graphic of like all time great quarterbacks and like they're
[36:36] Speaker 2: like take one away, remove the worst one.
[36:38] Speaker 3: My body was like Dan Marino and I'm like get
[36:40] Speaker 3: out of here. Like he was awesome too. He just
[36:42] Speaker 3: didn't win any rings.
[36:43] Speaker 5: No, that was what the graphic was. It was essentially
[36:46] Speaker 5: take one away.
[36:49] Speaker 1: I was thinking about Mahomes and his career trajectory that like,
[36:53] Speaker 1: is he is he settling into it? I was trying
[36:55] Speaker 1: to think that we've never seen a career trajectory like Mahomes,
[36:58] Speaker 1: And then I thought maybe Marino. If Mahome settles into
[37:03] Speaker 1: a certain sort of career, I don't think it's going
[37:05] Speaker 1: to be like that. But he was the best out
[37:08] Speaker 1: the gate, kind of like Marino, and now he's settling
[37:11] Speaker 1: into a different career.
[37:11] Speaker 2: He's achieved more, he's I think he's going to surpass
[37:14] Speaker 2: him if he hasn't already.
[37:15] Speaker 3: But yeah, when it's all said now, I can understand
[37:17] Speaker 3: that comparison.
[37:18] Speaker 2: But again, like when it comes to awards, it's like basketball,
[37:21] Speaker 2: like Lebron could be the MVP every year for like
[37:23] Speaker 2: fifteen years, but people get tired of naming the same
[37:25] Speaker 2: guy MVP, so they change it up.
[37:27] Speaker 1: Our final point number twenty a nice round number to
[37:31] Speaker 1: put in that YouTube image. I wanted in the image
[37:34] Speaker 1: twenty twenty things we learned. Aaron Rodgers at the podium
[37:40] Speaker 1: with a little breaking news.
[37:41] Speaker 5: As we're taping this.
[37:43] Speaker 11: You know, I thought that that was probably it for
[37:46] Speaker 11: me in Pittsburgh. But when decision was made to higher Mike,
[37:51] Speaker 11: I start opened my mind back up to coming back
[37:54] Speaker 11: to work. He could be your last year.
[37:58] Speaker 6: You even to play to that right now?
[37:59] Speaker 5: Yes, this is it, Yeah, this is it. Definitive, Chuck.
[38:08] Speaker 2: I mean, he did leave the door open last year,
[38:10] Speaker 2: and he did walk through that door this week. I
[38:13] Speaker 2: find it fascinating that Mike McCarthy's hiring was what brought
[38:16] Speaker 2: him back, because then it leads us all to believe
[38:18] Speaker 2: it kind of confirms what we all thought when they
[38:19] Speaker 2: hired Mike McCarthy was that it was related to Aaron
[38:21] Speaker 2: Rodgers at least in some regard. And now I'm very
[38:24] Speaker 2: curious to see exactly what they can produce together because
[38:26] Speaker 2: they did have a lot of success in Green Bay
[38:28] Speaker 2: back in the day. It's just hilarious that hiring Mike
[38:31] Speaker 2: McCarthy is what made you decide, you know what, I'm
[38:33] Speaker 2: not going to retire, but I'll give it one more go.
[38:37] Speaker 1: Yeah, I believe that it will be his last season.
[38:40] Speaker 1: That's the most likely outcome. If close listeners to NFL Daily,
[38:46] Speaker 1: you know, remember that this was a question throughout last year,
[38:50] Speaker 1: and it was an open question whether he was going
[38:53] Speaker 1: to come back or not. But if he for some
[38:55] Speaker 1: reason played outstanding this year at age forty three.
[39:00] Speaker 5: Then I no longer believe it.
[39:01] Speaker 1: So I don't totally believe it, but that seems when
[39:04] Speaker 1: you start getting.
[39:05] Speaker 3: Gifts from teams every week, then we'll know it's real.
[39:07] Speaker 1: These things don't go well. I think it's really hard.
[39:09] Speaker 1: I think it's over simplifying it. But when you think
[39:13] Speaker 1: of that quote, like once you're already thinking about retirement,
[39:15] Speaker 1: you're you're already retired. These last seasons, they're they're tough,
[39:19] Speaker 1: and in almost every sport, when you know that you're
[39:23] Speaker 1: walking away. I think Tom Brady basically knew he was
[39:26] Speaker 1: walking away in that last season. I think I think
[39:28] Speaker 1: it was tough for him. It was, you know, probably
[39:31] Speaker 1: his most disappointing season, and he didn't play the same
[39:34] Speaker 1: sort of style.
[39:36] Speaker 5: I think it's gonna be really tough on him.
[39:37] Speaker 1: We did it twenty points, shuck, What do you give
[39:40] Speaker 1: our Matten score for this show? Just possible to know
[39:46] Speaker 1: who's not retiring your kid either of us. Okay, that's
[39:50] Speaker 1: absolutely true. We got families to feed. We also got
[39:54] Speaker 1: another show this week. Well, other shows are ranking the quarterbacks,
[39:59] Speaker 1: like I'm you can check out Nate Tice, Mita Kim's
[40:01] Speaker 1: doing the same. We're ranking edge rushers. We're gonna save
[40:04] Speaker 1: the quarterbacks till later in the season. Me Olli Connolly
[40:07] Speaker 1: ranking all the edge rushers. That's Thursday's show. We will
[40:10] Speaker 1: see them. I'd say ninety two
