[0:04] Speaker 1: Welcome to NFL Daily, where we discussed football. Filled with apologies,
[0:10] Speaker 1: because I would like to start off this show which
[0:11] Speaker 1: features Nick Shook. Hello Nick with an apology to the
[0:14] Speaker 1: estates of both ROBERTA. Flack and Robert Stack as I
[0:18] Speaker 1: combine them into a vultron of a human being which
[0:23] Speaker 1: would be incredibly talented but does not also exist. My
[0:26] Speaker 1: apologies to anybody else and Shook and Eric, thanks for
[0:29] Speaker 1: putting up with my constant mistakes.
[0:30] Speaker 2: Hey man, Hey, you know, in the moment, I was
[0:34] Speaker 2: just like, let's just roll with it, and then it
[0:35] Speaker 2: sort of make me question it too, and I was like,
[0:37] Speaker 2: I swear it's Stack, But the idea of BERTA Flack
[0:40] Speaker 2: and Robert Stack combind kind of frightening.
[0:43] Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe good enough for an unsolved mystery.
[0:46] Speaker 1: It would be very unsolved, and it would be there
[0:49] Speaker 1: in Santa Clara near the substation and not next to
[0:53] Speaker 1: the giant cancer causing em radiation source that we all
[0:56] Speaker 1: know is ninety miles away. Shout out to our star.
[1:01] Speaker 1: By the way, So let's get into today's show. We're
[1:03] Speaker 1: gonna start with a little bit of news. We've had
[1:04] Speaker 1: some this week, some of it we weren't able to
[1:06] Speaker 1: get to you on this final pod. Before we take
[1:09] Speaker 1: a little break, you guys can listen to some of
[1:10] Speaker 1: Greg's musings coming up next week. We will start with
[1:14] Speaker 1: that little bit of news which was felt like a
[1:16] Speaker 1: lot of news, Nick, when the NFL sent Brendan sores
[1:20] Speaker 1: VI a letter that basically said, no, thanks, there will
[1:22] Speaker 1: be no supplemental draft. You are the only interest in
[1:25] Speaker 1: this hypothetical supplemental draft. We are not pleased with the
[1:28] Speaker 1: level of contrition you have showed with regard to your gambling,
[1:31] Speaker 1: and basically good luck to a possible introduction next year.
[1:35] Speaker 1: Possible seemed like a very heavy handed word there.
[1:38] Speaker 3: Nick, Yeah, that's what was I think.
[1:41] Speaker 2: The I don't know if I would say funniest but
[1:42] Speaker 2: most interesting note about all of it was the way
[1:44] Speaker 2: it concluded, which is that you know, you could enter
[1:48] Speaker 2: next year's draft, like just enjoyed preparing for that, but
[1:50] Speaker 2: we're not gonna, you know, make any special considerations for you,
[1:53] Speaker 2: which is funny because the supplemental draft itself is not
[1:56] Speaker 2: really all that special. It's not like this would be
[1:58] Speaker 2: the first time that's happened. But it did send a message,
[2:02] Speaker 2: which is that the league is not interested. I think
[2:05] Speaker 2: in trying to unpack the situation or the circumstances that
[2:09] Speaker 2: led to this point for Brendan Sooresby. And the only
[2:12] Speaker 2: thing that I really am disappointed in is the fact
[2:15] Speaker 2: that his stock is now going to get boosted off
[2:18] Speaker 2: off of nothing. I saw a top ten quarterback lists
[2:21] Speaker 2: hit social media after this announcement. Soresby listed as high
[2:24] Speaker 2: as three in some and I'm just thinking off of what, like,
[2:28] Speaker 2: do we not consider the existence of some other guys
[2:30] Speaker 2: who are actually going to play football next year? So
[2:32] Speaker 2: it's going to make for an interesting quarterback class, even
[2:34] Speaker 2: more interesting than it already is.
[2:35] Speaker 1: It's funny because quality play enhances the conversation, and the
[2:39] Speaker 1: conversation enhances the perception of how relevant a football player is.
[2:43] Speaker 1: Like the way Trinidad Chambliss played in the postseason of
[2:46] Speaker 1: college football last year, where it's like you, oh my god,
[2:49] Speaker 1: and that was based on what he did on the field,
[2:51] Speaker 1: and all love to britin source these accomplishments, but a
[2:53] Speaker 1: lot of it was vaporware in terms of the discussion
[2:57] Speaker 1: about the hypothetical value that this player can have. And
[3:00] Speaker 1: you know, I instantly said to Greg because it seemed
[3:03] Speaker 1: like this was all going to happen. That the NFL
[3:06] Speaker 1: sometimes makes rulings based on the vibes of the conversation,
[3:10] Speaker 1: and the general vibes of the conversation was I can't
[3:12] Speaker 1: believe he's gotten away with this, and so yeah, the
[3:15] Speaker 1: league was not going to be a part of him
[3:17] Speaker 1: continuing to get away with this. And so here we are,
[3:20] Speaker 1: and good luck to Brendan Sarsby and you know, maybe
[3:23] Speaker 1: all the other quarterbacks nick who never bet ninety thousand
[3:27] Speaker 1: dollars on their college football teams.
[3:29] Speaker 2: There are so many questions to answer that will never
[3:31] Speaker 2: really know the answers too, which is where did a
[3:33] Speaker 2: college kid get ninety thousand dollars took place on bets?
[3:36] Speaker 3: First off? And then it's also.
[3:38] Speaker 2: Like, why did we get this out of season, you know,
[3:41] Speaker 2: pre draft push of a player.
[3:42] Speaker 3: Who's not actually going to be in the NFL this year.
[3:44] Speaker 2: But yeah, it really felt like just a message was sent,
[3:47] Speaker 2: which is that, hey, I don't we don't want to
[3:49] Speaker 2: really deal with this right now. It's kind of functions
[3:53] Speaker 2: as a pseudo, you know, one year suspension, so we'll
[3:55] Speaker 2: see how it all plays out.
[3:56] Speaker 4: Yeah, and again, good luck to him.
[3:58] Speaker 1: There was of course we've had a few suspensions in
[4:01] Speaker 1: the NFL related to gamblink. One of them was former
[4:03] Speaker 1: Atlanta Falcon Calvin Ridley, who detailed his again much less
[4:08] Speaker 1: involved series of wagers in a Player's Tribune article, and
[4:13] Speaker 1: his former teammate Kyle Pitts agreed to a three year,
[4:16] Speaker 1: fifty four million dollar contract. I guess we can button
[4:20] Speaker 1: that up with Britain Strange, whose injury last year for
[4:22] Speaker 1: the Jacksonville Jaguars really changed their offense, you know in
[4:26] Speaker 1: the middle to late part of the season. It's three
[4:28] Speaker 1: years up to fifty four to thirty six guaranteed for
[4:31] Speaker 1: Kyle Pitts and three years up to forty eight with
[4:35] Speaker 1: around twenty six million guaranteed for Britain Strange.
[4:38] Speaker 4: A couple nice tight end deals.
[4:39] Speaker 2: Nick, Yeah, first off, hell of a segue. That's why
[4:42] Speaker 2: you're a pros pro. And secondly, yeah, it was interesting
[4:46] Speaker 2: that the Pitts deal comes first and then immediately after
[4:48] Speaker 2: the Strange deal comes, almost as if they were kind
[4:51] Speaker 2: of the Jaguars were kind of waiting for Pitts to
[4:52] Speaker 2: sign first, and then the Strangest deal comes in understandably
[4:55] Speaker 2: below Pits. But I like the language of it, which
[4:58] Speaker 2: is the up to forty eight million. It's always you know,
[5:00] Speaker 2: in favor of the agents trying to boost their job,
[5:02] Speaker 2: well done or whatever negotiating these contracts. But I expect
[5:05] Speaker 2: strangers deal to land more in the range of like
[5:07] Speaker 2: Isaiah likely Mark Andrews than where Kyle Pitts is going
[5:10] Speaker 2: to be still a good deal, and I think it's
[5:11] Speaker 2: a good deal. It's going to look better in a
[5:13] Speaker 2: couple of years from now for the Jaguars, you know,
[5:15] Speaker 2: taking a bet on I guess that's not the term
[5:17] Speaker 2: I want to use in this situation, but taking a
[5:20] Speaker 2: chance on a guy who has steadily ascended, who was
[5:22] Speaker 2: good enough in his second year to convince the Jaguars
[5:24] Speaker 2: to move on from Evan Ingram.
[5:27] Speaker 3: And I'm really excited to see really what this entire Jaguars.
[5:29] Speaker 2: Offense is going to do in year two under Liam Cohen,
[5:31] Speaker 2: a guy that I you know, didn't believe was going
[5:34] Speaker 2: to be that effective in his first year in Jacksonville,
[5:36] Speaker 2: And boy was I wrong. Now in year two with
[5:38] Speaker 2: Trevor Lawrence and this whole offense coming back and basically
[5:40] Speaker 2: the most the team of the most continuity from one
[5:43] Speaker 2: off season or of one season to the next. I
[5:45] Speaker 2: would love to see if Strange can continue to build
[5:46] Speaker 2: on his own success and then make that contract look good.
[5:49] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[5:50] Speaker 1: I love both of the deals in tandem because it
[5:51] Speaker 1: shows their space for the different brands and regions of
[5:54] Speaker 1: tight end, just like their space for different brands and
[5:56] Speaker 1: regions of wide receivers. As we go into more twelve
[6:00] Speaker 1: than thirteen, I understand that there's a general push in
[6:04] Speaker 1: appreciation for tight ends that do it all. But there's
[6:07] Speaker 1: always going to be a space for Travis Kelcey. There's
[6:09] Speaker 1: always going to be a space for a six or
[6:11] Speaker 1: five guy and Kyle Pitts who can run away from people,
[6:14] Speaker 1: jump over people, and score to the extent that we've
[6:17] Speaker 1: seen Kyle Pitts in spots, And I know that there's
[6:19] Speaker 1: frustrated fantasy managers. If there's a person who can do
[6:22] Speaker 1: what Kyle Pitts does, that person is going to get
[6:25] Speaker 1: paid there.
[6:25] Speaker 4: You're going to have to draft them and just deal
[6:27] Speaker 4: with the consequences. That's what happens.
[6:29] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not the fault of Kyle Pitts that he
[6:31] Speaker 2: hasn't produced to the level that fantasy managers wanted to
[6:33] Speaker 2: produce to. It's the fact that the Falcons couldn't figure
[6:35] Speaker 2: out how to use him until basically last year. I
[6:38] Speaker 2: think the best years are ahead for him and that
[6:39] Speaker 2: money is going to reflect it, or at least that
[6:41] Speaker 2: contract's going to look good in a few years.
[6:43] Speaker 1: Yeah, great news for them. A bit of negative news
[6:45] Speaker 1: as Terry On Arnold turned himself in. He was arrested
[6:48] Speaker 1: in Florida in connection with what's allegedly a scheme to
[6:51] Speaker 1: recover stolen goods that police in Florida are alleging he
[6:56] Speaker 1: was the orchestrator of The Lions have said that they're
[6:59] Speaker 1: going to comment once more information is made available as
[7:02] Speaker 1: we kind of sort through this, because you know, law
[7:05] Speaker 1: enforcement would like to have a monopoly on violence and
[7:08] Speaker 1: recovery of stolen goods, and we don't. We want everybody
[7:11] Speaker 1: to be safe, we don't want anybody taking matters into
[7:14] Speaker 1: their own hands, and so we're gonna wait and hope
[7:17] Speaker 1: that everything sorts itself out in Florida.
[7:20] Speaker 4: What's hary on Donald? That wraps up our news.
[7:22] Speaker 1: It's time for the off season ride along presented by
[7:25] Speaker 1: Toyota as well look ahead.
[7:26] Speaker 4: To the twenty twenty seven NFL Draft.
[7:28] Speaker 1: Yes YouTube Britain soorsby may be able to take part
[7:31] Speaker 1: in the twenty twenty seven NFL Draft, takes place Thursday,
[7:34] Speaker 1: April twenty ninth, the Saturday, May first, twenty twenty seven
[7:37] Speaker 1: in Washington, DC.
[7:39] Speaker 4: Get a chance to look forward to that.
[7:41] Speaker 2: And you know what, Look, I'm excited for the latest
[7:43] Speaker 2: place for the draft to go to. I know this
[7:44] Speaker 2: has been a traveling circus for what a decade. Now
[7:47] Speaker 2: it's no longer the everybody make the pilgrimage to Radio
[7:49] Speaker 2: City Music Hall and sit in the you know, in
[7:51] Speaker 2: the seats and get ready to boot the jets pick.
[7:53] Speaker 2: Now it's we're going from one place the next. And
[7:55] Speaker 2: there's a lot of positive momentum in Washington. And this
[7:57] Speaker 2: right here, if you're watching on YouTube, is one of
[7:59] Speaker 2: the reasons why the Commanders under owner Josh Harris, that
[8:01] Speaker 2: whole group have been moving positively for years now. And
[8:04] Speaker 2: the renderings of their new stadium that they want to
[8:06] Speaker 2: build are magnificent. This is in a world in which
[8:09] Speaker 2: so many new stadiums are designed to look almost exactly
[8:12] Speaker 2: the same. This one does not. This one is unique.
[8:14] Speaker 2: What would be the new RFK on the old RFK site.
[8:17] Speaker 2: It's obviously years away from construction. But the draft going
[8:20] Speaker 2: there going to give Washington a taste of the big
[8:22] Speaker 2: time in the NFL, and it's going to proceed what
[8:26] Speaker 2: eventually will be a magnificent palace for Commanders Football.
[8:29] Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's a far cry from the days, the
[8:32] Speaker 1: dark days of the slur era for the franchise come
[8:35] Speaker 1: a long way since then. Congratulations to all the people
[8:38] Speaker 1: who have made it through that. I know there's a
[8:40] Speaker 1: lot of people in our nation's capital. People do often
[8:43] Speaker 1: wonder that there's a lot of a certain segment of
[8:45] Speaker 1: Cowboys fans in DC, and it's like, how can that happen?
[8:49] Speaker 1: There was a period of time where the franchise was
[8:52] Speaker 1: not amenable to all folks, you know, and speaking of
[8:55] Speaker 1: our nation's capital, that could also be said that was
[8:59] Speaker 1: the offsea and ride along presented by Toyota, because when
[9:02] Speaker 1: people are the destination, your ride is important. Learn more
[9:05] Speaker 1: at Toyota dot com and find the vehicle that fits
[9:08] Speaker 1: your people. Let's get to a fun off season segment
[9:13] Speaker 1: where there's so many chances Nick for us to rank things.
[9:17] Speaker 1: We've had the NFL Daily thirty two all summer. We've
[9:19] Speaker 1: done wide receiver rankings with Nate Tice. Last week Quarterback
[9:22] Speaker 1: Rankings with John Ledyard comes out next week. Greg has
[9:26] Speaker 1: famously been a part of ranking players even before the
[9:30] Speaker 1: existence of this podcast, before the existence around the NFL.
[9:33] Speaker 1: Even shout out to NFL Top ten, which featured a
[9:36] Speaker 1: very young Greg Rosenthal would always air on NFL Network.
[9:39] Speaker 4: We love that.
[9:40] Speaker 1: But we've ranked some things, some of them have nothing
[9:43] Speaker 1: to do with football, and I would like you the
[9:45] Speaker 1: bet leadoffser.
[9:46] Speaker 2: Fun fact, Patrick, before you and I ever crossed pass,
[9:49] Speaker 2: before I ever met Greg or anybody else, I was
[9:51] Speaker 2: the intern producer intern on NFL Top ten at NFL
[9:56] Speaker 2: Films way back in twenty fourteen.
[9:58] Speaker 3: So this is a near and dear I've never known this. Yes,
[10:01] Speaker 3: this is where I started.
[10:02] Speaker 2: Jason Webber, the producer, I ran to him and I
[10:04] Speaker 2: think New Orleans before the Super Bowl a couple of
[10:06] Speaker 2: years ago.
[10:07] Speaker 3: Great guy. I was his intern way back in the day.
[10:09] Speaker 2: And not only was Greg on that show, our dear
[10:11] Speaker 2: late friend Chris Wesling was also on that show.
[10:13] Speaker 3: And that was the first time I ever saw either
[10:15] Speaker 3: of them.
[10:16] Speaker 2: On camera before I got to know them as closely
[10:18] Speaker 2: as we as we have now.
[10:19] Speaker 4: So the number of airsticials, that's what I want to
[10:22] Speaker 4: know now those those.
[10:24] Speaker 3: Were already there by the time I got there.
[10:25] Speaker 2: But I will say there was one comedian whose name
[10:27] Speaker 2: will not be mentioned, who was supposed to show up
[10:29] Speaker 2: for an interview for a show one day, and I
[10:31] Speaker 2: was very excited to see him because he was on
[10:32] Speaker 2: a popular sports related comedy at the time, and.
[10:35] Speaker 3: He bailed on us and said he was sick.
[10:36] Speaker 2: But he did morning radio that day and I've never
[10:39] Speaker 2: let him, you know, I've never forgotten about. It's you know,
[10:42] Speaker 2: he's on my list. He's deaficly on my list. Also
[10:44] Speaker 2: on my list non football topics. And we're going all
[10:48] Speaker 2: over the place here. Okay, I'm just going to start
[10:50] Speaker 2: it out right now. This is as I thought about,
[10:52] Speaker 2: what would I like to randomly rank somebody likes to,
[10:55] Speaker 2: you know, kick back, have a good time from you know,
[10:57] Speaker 2: here and there. So I'm going with your top five
[11:00] Speaker 2: situational beverages. For me. My beverage of choice is, of
[11:04] Speaker 2: course a beer. You know, I'm not gonna name the
[11:06] Speaker 2: brand here because there's partnerships. But number five on the list,
[11:10] Speaker 2: it is perhaps the most cliche one of all. It's
[11:14] Speaker 2: the shower beer. Now, the setup's gotta be good. You
[11:16] Speaker 2: got to be in the right mind for the shower beer.
[11:19] Speaker 2: But if it all works out, well, it's a good
[11:21] Speaker 2: way to start whatever evening or day you're about to
[11:23] Speaker 2: embark upon.
[11:24] Speaker 3: Number four.
[11:26] Speaker 2: Nothing better than going to the airport early, sitting down
[11:29] Speaker 2: at a bar and having an airport beer, getting stuck
[11:30] Speaker 2: in a layover like I did in Atlanta last year,
[11:33] Speaker 2: and having a couple of beverages at the airport bar.
[11:37] Speaker 2: The airport beer is number four. Number three. When you
[11:40] Speaker 2: live in a place that has very defined seasons like
[11:42] Speaker 2: I do, there's nothing better. Even though I just said
[11:45] Speaker 2: there was nothing better than the airport beer. Then stepping
[11:48] Speaker 2: out onto a patio and having the first patio beer
[11:52] Speaker 2: of the year when it's sunny out, when it's nice.
[11:54] Speaker 2: Could be a rooftop as well in a warm summer night,
[11:56] Speaker 2: but that first patio beer just hits different.
[12:00] Speaker 3: Number two. I'm a guy who enjoys tending to his yard.
[12:05] Speaker 2: The post yard work beer is just h It's refreshing,
[12:09] Speaker 2: it's rewarding. As soon as you crack it or you
[12:12] Speaker 2: pop off the cap to the bottle, you're just like
[12:15] Speaker 2: iron this one. I'm gonna enjoy this maybe you're sitting
[12:17] Speaker 2: on your porch or just admiring the work. I just
[12:20] Speaker 2: edged my yard last week. I'm looking down the lines.
[12:22] Speaker 2: They're crispy.
[12:23] Speaker 3: So is this light draft or this light pilsner that
[12:26] Speaker 3: I'm drinking as well. Very crispy.
[12:27] Speaker 2: And last but not least, my favorite beverage, my favorite
[12:30] Speaker 2: beer of all. One of my favorite reasons that one
[12:34] Speaker 2: of the favorite things about living in Cleveland for me
[12:36] Speaker 2: is how the city is very centered around sports, and
[12:40] Speaker 2: there is no better day than when the Cavaliers or
[12:44] Speaker 2: the Guardians are in a playoff game and the whole
[12:47] Speaker 2: fan base descends upon the city and you all hang
[12:50] Speaker 2: out hours before the game. It is the first beer
[12:53] Speaker 2: at the start of an all day sporting event. You
[12:55] Speaker 2: can think about those playoff games. You can think about
[12:57] Speaker 2: an NFL tailgate, the community and the taste of that
[13:01] Speaker 2: first beverage when you know you're gonna have an all
[13:04] Speaker 2: day a marathon of fun.
[13:06] Speaker 3: That's number one on my list.
[13:07] Speaker 4: It's a it's a great list.
[13:09] Speaker 1: I'm looking back and having beverage in because it applies
[13:14] Speaker 1: not just to the to the you know, the barley
[13:17] Speaker 1: and and the and the weeded you know, because I'm
[13:19] Speaker 1: not necessarily a beer guy. But the order that you have,
[13:24] Speaker 1: like it almost goes into the order of accomplishment. Right
[13:28] Speaker 1: that shower beer, you know, you're getting up or maybe
[13:31] Speaker 1: you're going to bed, either way, Like the barrier for
[13:35] Speaker 1: entry at the airport, you've accomplished, right, getting their baggage.
[13:41] Speaker 1: Everything is done, so you're finishing up there, getting out
[13:44] Speaker 1: on the patio. You have a patio, you know, like
[13:46] Speaker 1: you've done everything you need to do, so you could
[13:48] Speaker 1: just go out there and do nothing yard work. You
[13:51] Speaker 1: finished the entire thing. You can enjoy it, uh in
[13:54] Speaker 1: there and then the whole team community coming together to
[13:57] Speaker 1: have a playoff beverage.
[13:59] Speaker 4: Come on, man, you're right.
[14:01] Speaker 2: Hey, I'd love to bring people together or at least
[14:03] Speaker 2: celebrate accomplishments.
[14:04] Speaker 3: And those are all celebratory to me in one way
[14:06] Speaker 3: or another.
[14:07] Speaker 1: All right, I am going to rank general summer things
[14:12] Speaker 1: as they popped into my head, and at number five,
[14:16] Speaker 1: the moment you set the hook on literally any form
[14:19] Speaker 1: of fish. It's the culmination of the process of picking
[14:22] Speaker 1: out the time, the bait, when to go, where to cast,
[14:25] Speaker 1: all leading up to that moment, combined with the uncertainty
[14:28] Speaker 1: of what's at the end. Of the hook, as every
[14:31] Speaker 1: single child's toy is some form of loop box nowadays,
[14:36] Speaker 1: and almost everything is a loop box. That is nature's
[14:39] Speaker 1: loop box. And you get a chance. It could be small,
[14:41] Speaker 1: it could be tiny, it could not be in the
[14:43] Speaker 1: legal limit. You throw it back, you put another one
[14:45] Speaker 1: in there. But that moment where you feel that first headshake,
[14:48] Speaker 1: that's at number five, number four is realizing you're looking
[14:52] Speaker 1: at a great ten to fifteen minutes of a blended
[14:55] Speaker 1: fruit beverage where perhaps you've augmented it with some form
[14:59] Speaker 1: of or maybe you just don't care about the macros
[15:03] Speaker 1: that day, and you're having whether it's some banana, mango,
[15:06] Speaker 1: asae blueberry, just some form of blended fruit where you know,
[15:12] Speaker 1: whether you're walking, driving, you can mindlessly consume the sugar
[15:17] Speaker 1: for the next ten to fifteen minutes. Unfortunately for me
[15:20] Speaker 1: it's more like five or six, and you get sad
[15:21] Speaker 1: when it's over. But when it first starts, man, that's awesome.
[15:25] Speaker 1: A number three fireworks they're dangerous, they can hurt you,
[15:30] Speaker 1: they can hurt other people, but it's big thing. Go
[15:33] Speaker 1: loud and go boom, and maybe somebody may be convinced
[15:38] Speaker 1: that you're celebrating two hundred and fifty years, where you
[15:40] Speaker 1: might not have been included for the whole two hundred
[15:42] Speaker 1: and fifty, But who cares. It's a big, great thing.
[15:45] Speaker 1: I love loud noises. My dog doesn't, but she'll be
[15:48] Speaker 1: all right. Everybody will figure out. Number two. You're traveling
[15:54] Speaker 1: somewhere and you wake up on the plane while the wheels.
[15:58] Speaker 4: Are hitting your desk. It's a nation.
[16:00] Speaker 1: You have somehow managed to not drool on yourself and
[16:03] Speaker 1: embarrass yourself for the entire flight.
[16:05] Speaker 4: You've managed to navigate well.
[16:07] Speaker 1: Somebody's managed to navigate the cart down the aisle without
[16:10] Speaker 1: arrytating your shoulder and alerting you from the slumber.
[16:14] Speaker 4: So that's good.
[16:15] Speaker 1: At at number one, the first few seconds of people
[16:18] Speaker 1: being at your dwelling having a good time, drinks in hand,
[16:22] Speaker 1: you realize that you have brought all these people together
[16:25] Speaker 1: and the meat is on the grill and it is
[16:27] Speaker 1: cooked to perfection. That is my number one summer thing.
[16:31] Speaker 2: Number one is the best because that's my favorite moment too.
[16:34] Speaker 2: But I got to point back to the blended fruit
[16:36] Speaker 2: beverage because I'm glad you said five minutes, because for me,
[16:41] Speaker 2: it's maybe if you're lucky. If it's five minutes, and
[16:44] Speaker 2: usually there's some sort of banana. I might have a
[16:46] Speaker 2: little bit of like peanut butter in there as well.
[16:48] Speaker 2: And as soon as that first sip hits your lips,
[16:50] Speaker 2: you just know this is going to be gone very quickly.
[16:52] Speaker 3: I'm not gonna stop.
[16:53] Speaker 2: I'm driving with one hand, continuously sipping with the other.
[16:56] Speaker 2: I might even get really obnoxious and start slurping on
[16:59] Speaker 2: the straw and make loud noises. I don't care about decorum.
[17:02] Speaker 2: I'm enjoying this beverage. What a great collection of items there.
[17:05] Speaker 1: Yeah, the CEO of Media itself could call me while
[17:08] Speaker 1: I'm drinking a smoothie and be like, Patrick, we've got
[17:11] Speaker 1: bad news, and I would you know, I would listen
[17:15] Speaker 1: and I would be sad.
[17:16] Speaker 4: I would stop drinking.
[17:20] Speaker 3: We're all we're all loosing our jobs, all right, all right?
[17:26] Speaker 4: Next ranking, sir, all right?
[17:29] Speaker 3: Top five Lil Wayne Projects.
[17:31] Speaker 2: Lil Wayne's arguably the best rapper alive from like I
[17:35] Speaker 2: don't know, the mid to late two thousands into the
[17:38] Speaker 2: early twenty tens. That was like when I was in
[17:40] Speaker 2: high school and it was just peak music for me.
[17:43] Speaker 3: It was also peak mixtape era.
[17:45] Speaker 2: Yes, and he was a master of producing hits across
[17:49] Speaker 2: all formats. So number five it's the album that dropped
[17:54] Speaker 2: I think my sophomore year of high school.
[17:56] Speaker 3: The Carter three.
[17:56] Speaker 2: That's the one with you know, Lollipop and you know
[18:01] Speaker 2: a number of other songs that have now suddenly escaped
[18:03] Speaker 2: my brain. But Amelie, that's another one. That's the one
[18:06] Speaker 2: that I know every word of, front to back. You
[18:08] Speaker 2: ever want to impress somebody, just throw on a million
[18:11] Speaker 2: and they'll just do the whole thing and then they'll
[18:13] Speaker 2: look at me halfway through and be like, I'm tired
[18:14] Speaker 2: of you doing this. There's another minute thirty left in
[18:16] Speaker 2: this song, yep, but I'm not stopping. But it was
[18:19] Speaker 2: a great album, probably his peak number four mixtape Dedication two,
[18:24] Speaker 2: And this is where it gets really difficult for me
[18:26] Speaker 2: to separate because the next three are all mixtapes. But
[18:29] Speaker 2: that's how good he was. He didn't even have to
[18:30] Speaker 2: sell the album to you. He just made it available
[18:32] Speaker 2: online because he was on a generational run of just
[18:36] Speaker 2: spitting bar after bar after bar over somebody else's beats,
[18:40] Speaker 2: acknowledging that I'm not making money off of this, but
[18:42] Speaker 2: I'm going to do a better job at it than you.
[18:44] Speaker 2: Dedication two leads off that group. This three pack of mixtapes,
[18:48] Speaker 2: Number three, No Ceilings, which got remastered I think semi
[18:52] Speaker 2: recently and put on streaming platforms, which was to my delight. No,
[18:55] Speaker 2: it was just a wonderful thing. That's another one where
[18:58] Speaker 2: you know every word of multi songs that was constantly
[19:01] Speaker 2: in the rotation back when that came out, I want
[19:03] Speaker 2: to say that was two thousand and nine or twenty ten.
[19:05] Speaker 2: That was when you burned on a CD and put
[19:07] Speaker 2: in your little Player in the car. For me, it
[19:09] Speaker 2: was a Honda Civic. Number two his best mixtape in
[19:12] Speaker 2: my opinion, which is Drought three.
[19:14] Speaker 3: And I had a hard.
[19:14] Speaker 2: Time separating between these three because i'm running them back today.
[19:17] Speaker 2: I'm just like, God, I know all these songs and
[19:20] Speaker 2: they're all hits, like this is in insane. But Drought
[19:22] Speaker 2: three was just something special, something different. And number one
[19:26] Speaker 2: the Carter two, which was not the album with fire Man,
[19:30] Speaker 2: but it was the album after fire Man, when everybody
[19:33] Speaker 2: officially acknowledged that that wasn't a one hit thing, that
[19:36] Speaker 2: the young guy from the Hot Boys is now here
[19:38] Speaker 2: and he's here to stay, and you better respect and
[19:41] Speaker 2: acknowledge and enjoy his music. There are so many good
[19:43] Speaker 2: songs running down that album. I could listen to that
[19:45] Speaker 2: one for days still do. So that's my top five
[19:47] Speaker 2: Lil Wayne projects.
[19:48] Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's impossible to wreck and I appreciate you
[19:51] Speaker 1: taking the effort to rank them. There was a linguist
[19:55] Speaker 1: and I wish I could find it and shout out
[19:58] Speaker 1: this particular linguist, but pointing out that the contributions to
[20:01] Speaker 1: language itself from a seventeen year old from the five
[20:04] Speaker 1: oh four we say bling now as if it's just
[20:08] Speaker 1: general that that was a teenager, That was a young
[20:12] Speaker 1: that was a young mister Carter that provided that to us.
[20:15] Speaker 1: I was thinking that you were going to have no
[20:16] Speaker 1: ceilings at one just because of the number of It's
[20:20] Speaker 1: a twenty track mixtape, and I mean so many of
[20:22] Speaker 1: those mixtapes had tracks. But when I think about the
[20:26] Speaker 1: Run This Town cover where you get right, he names
[20:31] Speaker 1: the New Orleans corner at the time, which was Frank
[20:34] Speaker 1: minyard blank with me wrong, It'll be waking up in
[20:38] Speaker 1: his yard, and then he rhymes out with Nimrod him
[20:41] Speaker 1: Rod and employed like it was.
[20:43] Speaker 4: It was incredible.
[20:45] Speaker 1: It was a moment and I'm just you know, I
[20:48] Speaker 1: wish we could have him back, but sometimes, you know,
[20:50] Speaker 1: moments in time are leading.
[20:52] Speaker 2: He's a great example of why you got appreciate the
[20:54] Speaker 2: prime of anybody, whether it's an artist or an athlete.
[20:57] Speaker 2: You know it's not gonna last nothing in life. This
[20:59] Speaker 2: is one of my intras in life. I'm with mantras,
[21:01] Speaker 2: I'm sure we'll go with it. Nothing is forever good
[21:04] Speaker 2: or bad, so appreciated while it's there, or understand that
[21:07] Speaker 2: the bad times won't last forever.
[21:09] Speaker 1: And it's a perfect leading to my next ranking, which
[21:14] Speaker 1: is things from the old Internet that I miss and
[21:18] Speaker 1: moments that I want to celebrate right now. I'll start
[21:22] Speaker 1: off at number five. I'll jumble these all together. It's
[21:25] Speaker 1: Team four star Red versus Blue. The old Fensler film
[21:28] Speaker 1: G I Joe PSA parodies My Way Entertainment X Men
[21:32] Speaker 1: dubs that actually led to a line from the actual
[21:35] Speaker 1: Juggernaut in.
[21:36] Speaker 4: A twenty century Fox X Man movie.
[21:39] Speaker 1: There was a whole genre of dubbed, copyrighted content that
[21:42] Speaker 1: we used to have on the Internet that was foundational
[21:45] Speaker 1: humor for so many people of our particular age range.
[21:50] Speaker 1: I'm not going to divide it into weird generations because
[21:53] Speaker 1: people can still appreciate that content today.
[21:55] Speaker 4: I miss that.
[21:56] Speaker 1: I also miss at number four the Windows prints screen button,
[22:01] Speaker 1: actually printing the screen. It would take a screenshot, it
[22:04] Speaker 1: would go to the clipboard, you would control v it
[22:06] Speaker 1: into a very slim version of Microsoft Paint, and that
[22:10] Speaker 1: was it. It wouldn't open the snipping tool. I don't
[22:13] Speaker 1: want the convenience of the snipping tool. Yes, there will
[22:16] Speaker 1: be some circumstances where you need to blur out some
[22:18] Speaker 1: of your search history or maybe some weird tabs before
[22:21] Speaker 1: you posted the picture, but it was so simple print
[22:24] Speaker 1: screen printed the screen. I wish we had that back.
[22:27] Speaker 1: Number three MySpace, we were learning HTML. Oh yeah, you
[22:33] Speaker 1: know MySpace. Tom was there. He did sell out, but
[22:36] Speaker 1: he left us all. He didn't seek to wield the
[22:38] Speaker 1: power provided by his social media network to ultimately wield
[22:41] Speaker 1: more political power to make things worse for everybody else.
[22:45] Speaker 4: As far as I know, he's still chilling at that chalkboard.
[22:47] Speaker 1: It was weird. We ranked our friends, which is odd.
[22:51] Speaker 1: People shouldn't do that. Maybe had some cultural consequences there,
[22:56] Speaker 1: but I do miss it. At number two AOL instant messenger.
[23:01] Speaker 1: Before that, there was slack before text, before our email culture.
[23:06] Speaker 4: There were buddy lists.
[23:08] Speaker 1: There were random conversations with people who were obviously not
[23:11] Speaker 1: the person that they claimed to be, but they were
[23:13] Speaker 1: still somewhat fruitful.
[23:15] Speaker 4: You just had to be there for alel instant messenger.
[23:18] Speaker 1: I hope everybody navigated that process safely and at number
[23:22] Speaker 1: one old Google, Oh, the Google where you searched something
[23:30] Speaker 1: and relevant information popped up on your screen if you
[23:33] Speaker 1: remembered a line from a book or an article. For
[23:36] Speaker 1: the uninitiated articles, there used to be a lot of
[23:39] Speaker 1: them before the forces of capital realized that you could
[23:41] Speaker 1: purchase journalism itself, and they tried to utilize it for
[23:45] Speaker 1: surreptitious means, but then they realized it would be more
[23:47] Speaker 1: effective to just kill the entire industry, including actual journalists
[23:50] Speaker 1: in some capacities. But anyway, remember when you could search
[23:54] Speaker 1: a line from a book or an article and you
[23:57] Speaker 1: didn't even have to get close.
[23:58] Speaker 4: You could kind of ballpark and the thing.
[24:01] Speaker 1: That you wanted to look for was right there and
[24:05] Speaker 1: it was the top result.
[24:06] Speaker 4: Those days are gone. God is dead.
[24:08] Speaker 1: We have killed God and then started a replacement at
[24:11] Speaker 1: the cost of the productive plant capacity of the planet.
[24:14] Speaker 1: I say we, But the truth of the matter is
[24:16] Speaker 1: the power dynamics between the labor and capital are so
[24:19] Speaker 1: slanted that we're all getting force fan a thing that
[24:21] Speaker 1: we do not want and is hurting us.
[24:24] Speaker 4: I missed the old Google Nick.
[24:26] Speaker 2: And that thing that we do not want pops up
[24:28] Speaker 2: at every Google starch at the top and tries to
[24:29] Speaker 2: have a conversation with you. Leave me alone. I'm looking
[24:33] Speaker 2: up and obscure detail. I'm trying to find the roster
[24:36] Speaker 2: of the nineteen ninety three Toronto Blue Jays.
[24:38] Speaker 3: Leave me alone.
[24:39] Speaker 2: I don't want answers regarding the current team or how
[24:41] Speaker 2: they fared in the World Series last year. Your favorite point,
[24:45] Speaker 2: my favorite point of yours in that list was definitely
[24:47] Speaker 2: my Space because there are so many avenues you can
[24:50] Speaker 2: travel down. It's the ranking of friends, who was in
[24:51] Speaker 2: your top eight, it was the customization of your page.
[24:55] Speaker 2: It was how MySpace drove music for a while. Yeah,
[24:57] Speaker 2: which kind of leads me to my next question. What
[25:01] Speaker 2: was your MySpace song?
[25:02] Speaker 3: Patrick?
[25:02] Speaker 1: Oh, this is embarrassing considering the great and culturally informative
[25:07] Speaker 1: music that we just discussed.
[25:09] Speaker 4: It was Rotten Dirty.
[25:10] Speaker 3: By Oh Yeah, and that is very much of the
[25:13] Speaker 3: time it was.
[25:14] Speaker 1: It was not it shook. This was early. This was
[25:18] Speaker 1: the mi id I version of Roden though, and so it.
[25:21] Speaker 3: Was you know what you're talking about.
[25:23] Speaker 2: It's like sounds garbled, especially the intro sounds very garbled,
[25:26] Speaker 2: because it was definitely pirated before it was even actually
[25:29] Speaker 2: released commercially. I know exactly what you're talking about. Mine
[25:32] Speaker 2: actually was kind of similar. It was Little Kiki the
[25:34] Speaker 2: don I'm a g which is actually a song that's
[25:39] Speaker 2: very hard to find these days.
[25:40] Speaker 3: That was my.
[25:41] Speaker 4: Choice the old internet. All right, last ranking for you, sir.
[25:47] Speaker 2: I could have asked you what your aime name was,
[25:49] Speaker 2: but I think that's just a cliche.
[25:51] Speaker 4: No, it was packed you fifty two. That was it,
[25:53] Speaker 4: because I blocked you.
[25:55] Speaker 3: It was yeah, packed you fifty two.
[25:59] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's like I had a friend who has blocked
[26:00] Speaker 2: the plate something because he was a catcher.
[26:04] Speaker 3: Mine was less creative.
[26:05] Speaker 2: It was my initials and my school's mascot and three
[26:08] Speaker 2: random numbers.
[26:08] Speaker 3: Did you know my dad made it because he did
[26:12] Speaker 3: all right.
[26:13] Speaker 2: Top five terrible purchasing experiences, Oh boy, number five. It's
[26:19] Speaker 2: not so much the purchase, but what happens after the purchase.
[26:22] Speaker 2: It's receiving endless review requests for the most mundane purchases
[26:26] Speaker 2: or products. Did you go to home depot and buy
[26:29] Speaker 2: I don't know, twelve M three screws because your bolts
[26:33] Speaker 2: that you were trying to use for some home project
[26:36] Speaker 2: and you wanted to go with the metric system. How
[26:38] Speaker 2: was your experience, I don't know. I just pulled a
[26:40] Speaker 2: bunch of drawers out until I found the one that
[26:42] Speaker 2: matched it. Why are you harassing me? Get out of
[26:43] Speaker 2: my email? My Gmail storage is already almost full. Number
[26:47] Speaker 2: four The awkward moment when the cashier slash server slash
[26:51] Speaker 2: bartender uses their little remote device and you give them
[26:55] Speaker 2: your card and then they hand it back to you
[26:56] Speaker 2: and they go, Okay, it's going to ask you a question,
[26:59] Speaker 2: and that question is how much additional money would you
[27:02] Speaker 2: like to give them, which you don't even know if
[27:03] Speaker 2: it's going into their pocket, It may just be going
[27:05] Speaker 2: to the person or the company that maintains the service
[27:07] Speaker 2: that they use for you to pay.
[27:09] Speaker 3: And every time you just have to like.
[27:12] Speaker 2: You're guilted into eighteen twenty twenty two percent, and they
[27:16] Speaker 2: act like they're looking away. Some of them don't even
[27:18] Speaker 2: look away. Tipping culture way out of hand. This is
[27:21] Speaker 2: something that's been covered breathlessly across the internet. Number three
[27:26] Speaker 2: buying a car, but only after spending nine hours at
[27:29] Speaker 2: the dealership, which may or may not even include the
[27:32] Speaker 2: test drive. We've already haggled, I've done the walkout and
[27:35] Speaker 2: come back once already. I'm sitting down with your financing guy.
[27:39] Speaker 2: Why am I still here? Can I go home?
[27:42] Speaker 3: Already? It's Thursday night.
[27:43] Speaker 2: I know you're open late for people like us who
[27:45] Speaker 2: don't get off until we're late, But my god, why
[27:48] Speaker 2: is this so difficult?
[27:50] Speaker 3: Number two?
[27:51] Speaker 2: And this is for those who, especially in this market,
[27:54] Speaker 2: as like you said, the divide wealth wise continues to grow,
[27:59] Speaker 2: but those who or I actually have the means to
[28:01] Speaker 2: do so. Closing on real estate, which is a process
[28:05] Speaker 2: that takes forever and involves so many steps, and it's
[28:09] Speaker 2: kind of like starting an LLC. There's nobody there to
[28:11] Speaker 2: tell you what to do. You just just figuring it out,
[28:14] Speaker 2: just fly and blind. Oh what do you mean I
[28:16] Speaker 2: need tidle insurance? Well I have to pay for this
[28:18] Speaker 2: an inspector. Why am I paying thousands of dollars to
[28:22] Speaker 2: get this process?
[28:22] Speaker 3: When can I get the keys?
[28:24] Speaker 2: Let me in already and number one gym memberships, specifically,
[28:30] Speaker 2: canceling a gym membership, they'll make you jump through fifty hoops.
[28:33] Speaker 2: And I've gotten pretty good at this when it comes
[28:34] Speaker 2: to other subscriptions, which continue to grow, much to my dismay.
[28:38] Speaker 3: But gym memberships they'll get you for life.
[28:41] Speaker 2: Oh it was only nineteen ninety nine. It's a hell
[28:43] Speaker 2: of a deal. You're going to use this all the time. Oh,
[28:45] Speaker 2: you got busy in life, you don't go you moved away,
[28:48] Speaker 2: You're still getting billed no matter what you do, you
[28:50] Speaker 2: can't stop it.
[28:51] Speaker 3: Canceling a gym membership the ultimate worst it.
[28:54] Speaker 1: Is, and a lot of things in common with those
[28:58] Speaker 1: folks that work at a dealership. And again, if if
[29:00] Speaker 1: you want to call in and defend the dealership model,
[29:02] Speaker 1: you could email both myself and Shook. But be sure
[29:05] Speaker 1: to include the prices of the last seven vehicles that
[29:09] Speaker 1: you've sold. And let's make sure that all those prices
[29:11] Speaker 1: are the same, otherwise you were lying to somebody. And
[29:14] Speaker 1: so like, if you're standing there and there's the group
[29:18] Speaker 1: of people at the gym whose job it is to
[29:20] Speaker 1: a lot of people who walk in, and then there's
[29:22] Speaker 1: a group of people who actually work at the gym.
[29:25] Speaker 1: Make sure if you're working out, you actually talk to
[29:27] Speaker 1: the people who do the work and aren't just there
[29:29] Speaker 1: to lie to you. Because those people are there to lie.
[29:31] Speaker 1: It's very unfortunate. A lot again. I could go, we
[29:34] Speaker 1: could do an entire pod on the amount of time
[29:37] Speaker 1: that gets wasted at car dealerships where they go and
[29:39] Speaker 1: they have that fake conversation with somebody else and then yeah,
[29:43] Speaker 1: and they're probably in there laughing at you, and how
[29:46] Speaker 1: big of a mark you are. I don't like you,
[29:48] Speaker 1: guy that's trying to sell me something. I don't want
[29:50] Speaker 1: to tell you where I work. I don't want you
[29:52] Speaker 1: to measure me up. I have the numbers associated with
[29:55] Speaker 1: doing that from a credit industry that I never asked
[29:57] Speaker 1: to be a part of in the first place, and
[29:59] Speaker 1: I'm now vigated all that to have you come there
[30:02] Speaker 1: and lie to me about why it's necessary for you
[30:04] Speaker 1: to lie to me.
[30:05] Speaker 4: I don't care.
[30:06] Speaker 1: There's no reason for me to care how much money
[30:08] Speaker 1: you make as a part of this, how much is it.
