[0:00] Speaker 1: It's a tough sports, not for everybody. You gotta be
[0:01] Speaker 1: a little sick to love this game, and we got
[0:04] Speaker 1: some sickos.
[0:05] Speaker 2: Welcome to NFL Daily, where running backs have always mattered.
[0:10] Speaker 1: Yes, this is.
[0:10] Speaker 2: Another NFL Daily thirty two ranking the positions across the NFL.
[0:16] Speaker 1: Today is the Running Back Show.
[0:18] Speaker 2: I'm Greg Rosenthal in Los Angeles talking to Ali Connelly
[0:23] Speaker 2: in Manchester. I don't know if you heard the news,
[0:25] Speaker 2: but running backs they matter again.
[0:28] Speaker 1: They're back. The running game is back. It's bag. Put
[0:31] Speaker 1: all the big.
[0:31] Speaker 3: Buddies on the field. We're running the bowl a whole bunch.
[0:33] Speaker 3: Those guys have to pass protect every once in a while.
[0:35] Speaker 3: It's a huge moment.
[0:37] Speaker 2: I like the narrative too, that like just so well,
[0:41] Speaker 2: you know, because it was like ten percent different seven
[0:44] Speaker 2: years ago, that like the running game was somehow in
[0:46] Speaker 2: consequence with the running game has always mattered. I know,
[0:49] Speaker 2: especially near and dear to your hurt.
[0:52] Speaker 3: I love the running game. And we said this during
[0:54] Speaker 3: the draft season. You go look at the recent history
[0:56] Speaker 3: of the guys taking the top ten. It's all the
[0:57] Speaker 3: best players of the position by a substended different and
[1:00] Speaker 3: it's compared to effectively every other position on the field.
[1:03] Speaker 3: Quote about you can go back and forth on So
[1:05] Speaker 3: the league has got a really good idea. I think
[1:07] Speaker 3: about who the best running backs on. I do feel
[1:08] Speaker 3: like it's the purest distillation of just bowl, just a
[1:11] Speaker 3: guy who carries it the best. I think in my head,
[1:13] Speaker 3: I think of Bill Campbell and Barry Sendez and all
[1:16] Speaker 3: the great plays to carry the bowl. It just feels
[1:18] Speaker 3: like beautiful Puel football. Yeah, it's you know, I watched
[1:22] Speaker 3: the youth flag. It's like, yeah, the best player is
[1:26] Speaker 3: the running back. It's the same thing as when you
[1:28] Speaker 3: were playing with your friends, like whoever can run the
[1:30] Speaker 3: ball the best.
[1:31] Speaker 1: So I'm looking forward to this one.
[1:33] Speaker 2: We are defining this one through thirty two as the
[1:36] Speaker 2: running backs we would want to have for this season.
[1:40] Speaker 2: So it's not for one play, it's not for one game.
[1:43] Speaker 2: It's not a lifetime achievement award. Sometimes a heavy workload
[1:47] Speaker 2: works against running backs wanting for twenty twenty six rookies
[1:51] Speaker 2: are eligible. And since I threw Ali off his game
[1:56] Speaker 2: by not understanding the time zone difference and giving him
[2:00] Speaker 2: the wrong time and now he's had to scramble to
[2:02] Speaker 2: the computer, I will be generous enough to give you
[2:04] Speaker 2: the first overall pick.
[2:05] Speaker 3: I do appreciate that. I'm going to take Jon Robinson
[2:07] Speaker 3: from the Falcons. I think it's a top two and
[2:10] Speaker 3: it's a flip of a coin of who you prefer
[2:13] Speaker 3: with the top spy. I just think Bijon is the
[2:15] Speaker 3: best all around player in bold. I think if you
[2:17] Speaker 3: go skill by skill of what matters a position, there
[2:19] Speaker 3: is no one who does the things he does better running, receiving, blocking,
[2:23] Speaker 3: Even even as a lead blocker in the run game,
[2:25] Speaker 3: he's exceptional forcing misstackles yak both as a runner and receivers.
[2:29] Speaker 3: And I think the idea of backs who can move
[2:31] Speaker 3: all around the formation create some of these schematic mismatches
[2:34] Speaker 3: is a grossly overstated element of the game, particularly when
[2:37] Speaker 3: you go through the draft profile. But when you do
[2:39] Speaker 3: find the one or sometimes the two, every now and
[2:42] Speaker 3: then there's three in the league, it is life transformative
[2:45] Speaker 3: for an offense. And I think he's been in some
[2:47] Speaker 3: pretty tough situations in Atlanta and yet still is just
[2:49] Speaker 3: the best pure player at the position.
[2:51] Speaker 2: Yeah, and the workload that he had last year, Tyler
[2:56] Speaker 2: Aldier was still there, and yet he was targeted did
[3:00] Speaker 2: on the highest percentage of routes of any running back
[3:05] Speaker 2: from the slot or you know, or when they line
[3:08] Speaker 2: him out out wide, like the highest percentage. So that's quantity,
[3:13] Speaker 2: but it's also he's the guy who lines up the most,
[3:15] Speaker 2: so like he has the most opportunities and he's out
[3:18] Speaker 2: there the most. It's not the most effective play in football,
[3:22] Speaker 2: but it was the most effective play for them.
[3:23] Speaker 1: Like that.
[3:24] Speaker 2: I don't think that was the smartest way to build
[3:26] Speaker 2: an entire offense. But he ends up with seventy nine
[3:28] Speaker 2: catches for eight hundred and twenty yards. I actually think
[3:30] Speaker 2: like his overall season was slept on a little bit.
[3:33] Speaker 2: It was the second most yards from scrimmage, and I
[3:35] Speaker 2: do think this is a position where just in good
[3:37] Speaker 2: old fashioned yards like matter a little more than when
[3:40] Speaker 2: you were talking about passing yards. It was the second
[3:43] Speaker 2: most yards from scrimmage since the Adrian Peterson twenty twelve.
[3:46] Speaker 2: The only one that was better was was McCaffrey seven
[3:49] Speaker 2: years ago.
[3:50] Speaker 1: And yeah, you mentioned the yak.
[3:51] Speaker 2: Whether it's as a receiver or as a you know, runner,
[3:56] Speaker 2: he's right there at the top of the league. So
[3:57] Speaker 2: just like high percentage and him not like not falling
[4:01] Speaker 2: off in terms of his snap to snap.
[4:05] Speaker 1: I mean he was great late in the season.
[4:07] Speaker 2: I think just I think I don't know if it's
[4:09] Speaker 2: a tier one, but to me, he was the easy one.
[4:11] Speaker 3: Yeah, I think him and Gibbs is pretty close. I
[4:14] Speaker 3: do think the how Robinson is used, I think Gibbs
[4:16] Speaker 3: could be used more in that way. The Lion's just
[4:19] Speaker 3: not to do that with the design and Ira offense.
[4:21] Speaker 3: But he's the one way when these backs move around
[4:23] Speaker 3: the formation, only him. McCaffrey I think calls true panic
[4:26] Speaker 3: in a defense, whereas when everyone else it's like it's fun.
[4:29] Speaker 3: Particularly you talk about the college profile, how he goes
[4:32] Speaker 3: to the slot. He shuffles all the way to the perimitter.
[4:34] Speaker 3: I think defense is a pretty comfortable particularly they got
[4:37] Speaker 3: a corner out there saying, well, we'd rather just we'd
[4:39] Speaker 3: be more intimidated if the number three receivers out there.
[4:42] Speaker 3: Bijion is the one way you see absolute panic and
[4:44] Speaker 3: a ton of communication, a ton of breakdowns, and he
[4:46] Speaker 3: just runs routes like a true receiver.
[4:48] Speaker 1: And there's just so few guys who can do that. Yeah.
[4:50] Speaker 2: I love the way he sets up like the second guy.
[4:52] Speaker 2: He's not even worried about the first guy, but the
[4:54] Speaker 2: way that he often sets up the second defender that
[4:57] Speaker 2: he's gonna make miss.
[4:58] Speaker 1: There's a play in the in the.
[4:59] Speaker 2: Rams game, and this is not an example of that,
[5:01] Speaker 2: but he was so good in that game where you
[5:03] Speaker 2: know Byron Young is just on his back in the
[5:06] Speaker 2: backfield and he's falling off of Bijon, and he does
[5:10] Speaker 2: fall off him because Bijon's just so strong. And then
[5:12] Speaker 2: Bijon literally puts his hand in the ground and changes
[5:16] Speaker 2: directions so fast that I think it was spaces and
[5:19] Speaker 2: one of their cornerbacks that he just dusts them and
[5:22] Speaker 2: goes the other way. I mean, it's just everything in
[5:24] Speaker 2: one run. He can do it all, which is why
[5:26] Speaker 2: you know I had him as a solid one. But
[5:27] Speaker 2: it's good to hear that my number two pick was
[5:29] Speaker 2: in your top tier. It was easy to go with
[5:32] Speaker 2: Jamir Gibbs, who just provides that outrageous flexibility, the outrageous explosiveness.
[5:41] Speaker 2: The next Gen had a stat that on runs where
[5:45] Speaker 2: he was not contacted behind the line of scrimmage, he
[5:49] Speaker 2: averaged eight point five yards per gary basically if you
[5:55] Speaker 2: did not hit him in the backfield, and he actually
[5:57] Speaker 2: did take a lot of big loss his last year
[6:00] Speaker 2: compared to like the year before, but that was I
[6:02] Speaker 2: think more of the offensive line thing. He just busts you,
[6:06] Speaker 2: and he hits top speeds like twenty two miles an
[6:10] Speaker 2: hour faster and more than anyone in the NNGS era.
[6:14] Speaker 2: Like he gets to contact faster. He's just there. I
[6:18] Speaker 2: like how quiet his feet are two in the plays
[6:20] Speaker 2: where they're they're not open Ali, but to me, they're
[6:23] Speaker 2: just they're just like you can almost see the feat
[6:26] Speaker 2: asking a question and then they get the answer and
[6:29] Speaker 2: then he just explodes. And Yeah, there's there's no one
[6:32] Speaker 2: quite like him, I guess. I guess Bizan Robinson is
[6:35] Speaker 2: quite like him. But what a player Jamir Gabbs.
[6:37] Speaker 3: He is quite like him, I do think gives his
[6:39] Speaker 3: stump style acceleration is in like a different stratus fym.
[6:42] Speaker 3: It feels like something different to what we see in
[6:44] Speaker 3: the full when you're mentioning that some of the patient
[6:47] Speaker 3: runs where you get to really see the explosiveness where
[6:49] Speaker 3: he's waiting and waiting on. Once he goes, he just
[6:51] Speaker 3: raises tackling angles. I think safeties, particularly when you see
[6:54] Speaker 3: them coming down to Phil just cannot quite believe that
[6:57] Speaker 3: they think they're the best athlete on the field. This
[6:59] Speaker 3: guy just pull away from them. They can't even get
[7:01] Speaker 3: close to him. You mentioned some of the miles per
[7:04] Speaker 3: hour figures. It's just we haven't quite seen someone I
[7:06] Speaker 3: think with that level of second third degree burst and
[7:09] Speaker 3: then the stop start the initial jet is just unlike
[7:12] Speaker 3: anything else in the league.
[7:14] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[7:14] Speaker 2: And in terms of total production, five thousand yards in
[7:17] Speaker 2: three seasons was around nineteen hundred. When he does the
[7:21] Speaker 2: option route, I don't even know what you call that route.
[7:23] Speaker 2: But when he does the option route where he just
[7:24] Speaker 2: goes out into the flat and then cuts back inside
[7:27] Speaker 2: against the linebacker.
[7:28] Speaker 1: Yeah, it's over stop.
[7:30] Speaker 3: And I would say with the Lions, for all the
[7:33] Speaker 3: excellence of Ben Johnson, and then when Dan Campbell got
[7:36] Speaker 3: back involved in the offense last season, I still think
[7:39] Speaker 3: there's meat on the bones with him.
[7:40] Speaker 1: I think both as.
[7:41] Speaker 3: A receiver, I think it maybe altering some element to
[7:45] Speaker 3: the offense that they can be a little bit rudimentary.
[7:47] Speaker 3: I would say that they have all the creativity and
[7:49] Speaker 3: the motion, the move and actual the mechanics and how
[7:51] Speaker 3: they get him to get that free space where he's
[7:54] Speaker 3: not getting hit in the backfield. I think they could
[7:56] Speaker 3: possibly do more. I think part of Drew Petzinger's job
[7:59] Speaker 3: coming in is going to be we want to keep
[8:01] Speaker 3: the total volume of touches right where Dan Cambell had
[8:03] Speaker 3: it when he took over where balloon by seven targets
[8:05] Speaker 3: per game as a receiver more overall touches across the board.
[8:08] Speaker 3: But can we do it in some more creative ways
[8:10] Speaker 3: and it doesn't have to be gimmick rey and motion
[8:13] Speaker 3: and movement, just can we alter some of the mechanics
[8:14] Speaker 3: slightly in the blocking game to get him some free
[8:17] Speaker 3: running starts, because you mentioned if he hits the hole
[8:18] Speaker 3: and he's free, we're getting eight yachts.
[8:20] Speaker 1: No matter what.
[8:20] Speaker 3: I'm most likely we'll get a bigger chunk than that.
[8:23] Speaker 2: Yeah, the revelation for him coming into league, for me
[8:25] Speaker 2: at least was just how much stronger he was that
[8:27] Speaker 2: than I expected, And like that that can't be last year.
[8:30] Speaker 2: We'll not as many yards after contact last year as
[8:32] Speaker 2: even the year before per carry, but just for the
[8:35] Speaker 2: total package, his strength is also awesome.
[8:38] Speaker 1: I am curious. I have no idea where you're going three.
[8:41] Speaker 2: I think you got some good options, but like you've mentioned,
[8:44] Speaker 2: a tier break, So who do you take as the
[8:46] Speaker 2: third back.
[8:46] Speaker 3: Yeah, I have four guys here that I'm struggling to
[8:49] Speaker 3: choose between. I think I'm still going to go with
[8:51] Speaker 3: Christie McCaffrey. I understand he's carried a crazy workload last
[8:56] Speaker 3: year with all the injuries around the nine, as it
[8:58] Speaker 3: was just like, we're just going to put it on
[8:59] Speaker 3: McCaffrey take us home, and he wasn't as efficient. I
[9:02] Speaker 3: just thought there was some decline as a pure runner,
[9:05] Speaker 3: but as a receiver, he still remains the most impactful
[9:09] Speaker 3: of all of these guys. Like Bijon structurally gives you
[9:11] Speaker 3: a little bit more, but McCaffrey's just a straight away receiver.
[9:13] Speaker 3: He is a slot receiver playing in the backfield a
[9:16] Speaker 3: lot of the time and as being a little bit
[9:18] Speaker 3: of slippage there. But I still think that he's gonna
[9:21] Speaker 3: if that everyone else is healthy and they've got more
[9:23] Speaker 3: the receiving threat with Mike Evans, that this season he'll
[9:26] Speaker 3: be just as productive as he's be in the past.
[9:28] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[9:28] Speaker 2: I hope the decline in his running like was, you know,
[9:34] Speaker 2: partly on the workload that they gave him, which was
[9:37] Speaker 2: just enormous. I mean, who else could have done what
[9:39] Speaker 2: he did last year. I don't think anyone so he
[9:41] Speaker 2: was so valuable to that team. But I do think
[9:44] Speaker 2: a next gen stat which points out a little what
[9:46] Speaker 2: you're talking about is, you know, he was very high
[9:49] Speaker 2: in terms of forcing miss tackles, I think the most
[9:51] Speaker 2: of anyone, like cumulatively, but the yards that he would
[9:56] Speaker 2: average gain when he forces a mistackle was the second
[9:59] Speaker 2: low us in the league.
[10:00] Speaker 1: And so there just weren't the explosives.
[10:03] Speaker 2: There were a lot of turning fours into sixes and
[10:06] Speaker 2: threes or negative ones into fives like that sort of running,
[10:10] Speaker 2: but you didn't see quite as much on the ground.
[10:13] Speaker 2: Then again, you know, talking about him on the ground
[10:15] Speaker 2: is only you know, half, if even that much of
[10:18] Speaker 2: his value. I mean, he had one hundred and two
[10:20] Speaker 2: catches and they built the whole plane out of him,
[10:22] Speaker 2: and he.
[10:22] Speaker 1: Held it up and they were one of the best
[10:24] Speaker 1: offenses in the league.
[10:25] Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I think last season he saw more
[10:28] Speaker 3: light boxes than he seen his entire creat It was
[10:30] Speaker 3: just so evident. Everyone's like, we don't respect the passing game.
[10:32] Speaker 3: We know Kyle Shanahan's unbelievable, but sometimes it's Mac Jones
[10:35] Speaker 3: and it's Broke Purdy again, we don't believe in the
[10:37] Speaker 3: receiving call. We'll just give Christy McCaffrey six shots and
[10:40] Speaker 3: we'll sit in there and we'll be comfortable with that.
[10:41] Speaker 3: And he just didn't punish that. The way he has
[10:43] Speaker 3: done throughout his career, you would think we got a
[10:45] Speaker 3: numbers of advents. We got Christy McAffrey in the backfield.
[10:47] Speaker 3: This has a chance to rip off some huge chunk plays,
[10:50] Speaker 3: and it was really it was more grinding. He was
[10:52] Speaker 3: stopping his feet a lot more. And then even the
[10:54] Speaker 3: top end speed, if you go by the MGS data,
[10:57] Speaker 3: has steadily dropped off over the last two seasons. Well,
[11:00] Speaker 3: I do think that if everything around him is a
[11:02] Speaker 3: little bit better and he is to me more of
[11:04] Speaker 3: a if he makes one guy miss then you get
[11:07] Speaker 3: the twenty five yard burst as opposed to being the
[11:10] Speaker 3: three all the full and if it's a light bulks,
[11:12] Speaker 3: you got guys deeper on the defensive side, So then
[11:14] Speaker 3: you've got to make three guys missage really get a
[11:17] Speaker 3: huge shot. So I think that the additions around him
[11:20] Speaker 3: will allow him to unlock some all the season.
[11:22] Speaker 2: So I had him in the same tiers as you,
[11:24] Speaker 2: but I had him fifth, just because, look, he's led
[11:27] Speaker 2: the league and touches three times.
[11:29] Speaker 1: The up in one of them was last year.
[11:31] Speaker 2: The other two times, you know, he got hurt right
[11:33] Speaker 2: after he has had five like first ballot Hall of
[11:37] Speaker 2: Fame type seasons he's played. This is gonna be his
[11:40] Speaker 2: tenh season. The other four years, you know, we're marred
[11:43] Speaker 2: by injury, and so that that's just the slightest of
[11:46] Speaker 2: slight concerns to take them a little lower for me
[11:49] Speaker 2: beyond these next two guys that I'm gonna choose between,
[11:52] Speaker 2: I'm not even sure who I'm going forth.
[11:53] Speaker 3: The only differratenting thing for me, I think was the
[11:56] Speaker 3: receiving side. You do get that with some of the
[11:58] Speaker 3: the top guys. I think James Cook, I think on
[12:00] Speaker 3: a China has got some of that in his game, too,
[12:02] Speaker 3: but it is a different level with McCaffrey.
[12:04] Speaker 2: Okay, maybe I'm giving away too much here, but I'm
[12:07] Speaker 2: I'm debating between Cook and a different guy who's never
[12:10] Speaker 2: played in the league, Jeremiah Love. And then when push
[12:13] Speaker 2: comes to shove with me on the clock, I'm gonna
[12:16] Speaker 2: lean what I know better and what Patrick Claybahn answered
[12:20] Speaker 2: as our question on the would you rather episode earlier?
[12:23] Speaker 1: This week, I will take James Cook.
[12:25] Speaker 2: He led the NFL in Carrie's last year, which is,
[12:28] Speaker 2: you know, a slight concern. Also like lead and rush
[12:32] Speaker 2: yards over expected and even per carry was second in
[12:36] Speaker 2: the NFL in yards over expected. So it's a great
[12:39] Speaker 2: marriage of scheme and the runner. And yet I think
[12:42] Speaker 2: he would fit in just about every scheme because he
[12:45] Speaker 2: gets more than what's blocked. He's I think, very good
[12:48] Speaker 2: as a receiver, but they have Ty Johnson and they
[12:50] Speaker 2: have a good backup situation. Even you know, Ray Davis
[12:53] Speaker 2: is in there a little bit and so you don't
[12:55] Speaker 2: use him as much, but I think they could use
[12:57] Speaker 2: him more.
[12:57] Speaker 1: So.
[12:57] Speaker 2: I do think he's a complete back. I just think
[13:01] Speaker 2: he's smooth. He is right smack in the middle of
[13:03] Speaker 2: his prime where his athleticism is peaking. But I think
[13:07] Speaker 2: he's a smart runner. And I just feel very safe
[13:11] Speaker 2: with James Cook as my next back on the list.
[13:15] Speaker 3: Yeah, I think he's the most aesthetically pleasing runner in
[13:18] Speaker 3: the entire league. I love the bobbing, weaving, gathering speed
[13:21] Speaker 3: type stuff where at times it doesn't always look like
[13:23] Speaker 3: he's going at top speed. But guys just can't get
[13:25] Speaker 3: anywhere near him. I'm glad that on the YouTube show
[13:27] Speaker 3: we showed the Browns run to open up the James
[13:30] Speaker 3: Cook montage. I think that is the one way you
[13:33] Speaker 3: see hallacious defensive players just be completely thrown off by
[13:39] Speaker 3: how quick you can kind of climb through the gears.
[13:42] Speaker 3: And I think I agree with you on the receiving set.
[13:43] Speaker 3: I think he's the best pure wheel route runner in
[13:46] Speaker 3: the league. And he came from college as that was
[13:49] Speaker 3: the fall taste. Like he's on to a receiving back.
[13:51] Speaker 3: We're not sure we can carry the ball between the tackles,
[13:53] Speaker 3: and we have to do some jet sweet stuff and
[13:54] Speaker 3: some pitch stuff and get him too the perimeter. And
[13:56] Speaker 3: he's just turned himself into a guy. I think you
[13:57] Speaker 3: can hit all these explosives and all the home runs,
[14:00] Speaker 3: but then it's happy to grind out the dirty yards
[14:01] Speaker 3: as well. So he to me is you're just as
[14:03] Speaker 3: comfortable with third and two game on the line. We
[14:06] Speaker 3: know we've got Josh Allen, but we feel good with
[14:08] Speaker 3: James Coke running behind our offensive line, or we can
[14:11] Speaker 3: slip him out of the backfield. Always knew something more
[14:13] Speaker 3: creative with him. I do think he's more of the
[14:15] Speaker 3: essential point of an offense, and it's just the slightly
[14:17] Speaker 3: boxed in with how the Bills used me. If he
[14:19] Speaker 3: played somewhere else, I think they'll be even more on
[14:21] Speaker 3: the menu.
[14:21] Speaker 2: And yet, you know, the way they use him did
[14:24] Speaker 2: lead to him leading the league in rash and he
[14:25] Speaker 2: gets second team All Pro in a season where they
[14:28] Speaker 2: were just monster running back season. So he gets that
[14:31] Speaker 2: over Gibbs and they've used him well, and you know,
[14:34] Speaker 2: it's been exciting. I loved his brother, Dalvin Cook, and
[14:37] Speaker 2: to think that James Cook has become as good or
[14:40] Speaker 2: better maybe now at his peak, is just an awesome
[14:43] Speaker 2: running back dynasty.
[14:44] Speaker 1: All right, who do you got for number five?
[14:47] Speaker 3: I'm gonna take Devon ah Chan from the Dolphins. I
[14:50] Speaker 3: really think he's become a complete back and he's not
[14:53] Speaker 3: just the burner that he once was, or he was
[14:55] Speaker 3: when he first came into the league. You look at
[14:57] Speaker 3: the yards he averages have to contact now four point
[15:00] Speaker 3: forty yards last season, still leading the league in explosive
[15:03] Speaker 3: player rate from the line of scrimmage. Another guy who
[15:06] Speaker 3: just eliminates angles and while kild still being willing to
[15:10] Speaker 3: run behind his pads and stick his nose in there
[15:12] Speaker 3: in a way that he just was I thought quite
[15:14] Speaker 3: averse to contact early in his career because he thought,
[15:16] Speaker 3: I'll in three places time, I'll get another little pitch
[15:18] Speaker 3: to the outside and maybe I can take that to
[15:20] Speaker 3: the house. Whereas now he really is willing to throw
[15:22] Speaker 3: his nose in there. And then you see some of
[15:24] Speaker 3: the stuff in the passing game, which is the most
[15:25] Speaker 3: exciting part to me. And there's the Dolphins tradeaway Jalen Waddle.
[15:29] Speaker 3: I think it's going to become a bigger part of
[15:30] Speaker 3: the portfolio with him. He's running a ton of vertical
[15:33] Speaker 3: release stuff from the backfield. Now that's slimmed down a
[15:36] Speaker 3: lot across the league as the league has kind of
[15:37] Speaker 3: evolved to get to the heavier tight end stuff to
[15:40] Speaker 3: run the ball. Moll, we're seeing less vertical releases from
[15:42] Speaker 3: running backs than we did do the previous few seasons.
[15:45] Speaker 3: He still is the guy who I think is just
[15:46] Speaker 3: an absolute weapon flying down the field where it's from
[15:49] Speaker 3: out the backfield, though shiveled to the slot.
[15:51] Speaker 2: Yeah, there aren't many running backs that can just take
[15:54] Speaker 2: over a game. Obviously, the guys who are getting taken
[15:57] Speaker 2: right now are in that group. But maybe even more
[15:59] Speaker 2: than a James Cook, Like in that Bill's game where
[16:02] Speaker 2: the Dolphins went really in that You know, I thought
[16:05] Speaker 2: I hallucinated this, But the Dolphins had a four game
[16:07] Speaker 2: winning streak last season, Like uh about h Ham took
[16:12] Speaker 2: over those games. He is so good, not just that
[16:16] Speaker 2: big plays, but when he has someone just that little
[16:20] Speaker 2: cutback that he does in the open field, that's like
[16:23] Speaker 2: the second or third man that he makes miss.
[16:24] Speaker 1: He just does it so naturally.
[16:26] Speaker 2: He leads the league in yards per carry, which is
[16:29] Speaker 2: still a stat you know, it's worth checking out, Like
[16:31] Speaker 2: pointy second, I believe in yards after you know, forcing mistackles.
[16:36] Speaker 2: And it'll be interesting to see him without Mike McDaniel.
[16:40] Speaker 1: The Dolphins weren't worried.
[16:41] Speaker 2: About giving him that big contract without McDaniel and coming
[16:44] Speaker 2: off of a shoulder surgery, which which he's supposed to
[16:46] Speaker 2: be ready for camp for And so I get that
[16:49] Speaker 2: pick like a little a little lower in terms of
[16:52] Speaker 2: success rate. That that doesn't bother you stylistically though, does it?
[16:55] Speaker 1: No?
[16:56] Speaker 3: None the slightest, because I think that ties so much
[16:58] Speaker 3: more to the quality of the offensive line then it
[17:00] Speaker 3: does the pure runner. And he had some nightmarish sinkholes
[17:05] Speaker 3: on that line. Last year they had to completely coach around.
[17:07] Speaker 3: They found the way to make it successful. I am
[17:09] Speaker 3: concerned about Bobby Slowick taking over the offense, and this
[17:12] Speaker 3: is being a wide zone twenty eighteen style of offense,
[17:15] Speaker 3: which I just don't think maximizes him all the offensive
[17:17] Speaker 3: line at all. You want Patrick's Paul in space, Aaron
[17:20] Speaker 3: Brewer in space. That that's how you want it to roll.
[17:24] Speaker 3: And then you've got the little quick guy rolling behind
[17:26] Speaker 3: the big lumber and fellas out in front. That's where
[17:28] Speaker 3: their offense I think is at their best way. He
[17:30] Speaker 3: hits the most home run shots, So that is the
[17:33] Speaker 3: one thing that gave me some pause. But I think
[17:35] Speaker 3: you'd just be foolish to kind of turn yourself into
[17:38] Speaker 3: this really mundane offense when you have that offensive line
[17:40] Speaker 3: in that back.
[17:41] Speaker 2: No doubt, and we are trying to draft these running
[17:44] Speaker 2: backs devoid of context, which is you know why I'm
[17:48] Speaker 2: happy to take Jeremiah Love here. I'm glad I took
[17:51] Speaker 2: Cook and we went with the veterans first, but I
[17:54] Speaker 2: am so excited to watch this kid at the next level.
[17:59] Speaker 2: I feel like, you know, everyone was in on Jeremiah Love.
[18:02] Speaker 2: The debate was kind of, well, is he the best
[18:05] Speaker 2: prospect since Peterson? Or is it like this is pretty
[18:07] Speaker 2: common or since Jon? You know, to me, just the explosiveness,
[18:12] Speaker 2: the size, speed, strength, that I'm a dummy is just
[18:16] Speaker 2: off the charts, Like, I don't know if I've seen
[18:20] Speaker 2: a prospect quite that crazy in terms of that. Maybe
[18:23] Speaker 2: maybe since Peterson, does he have all the subtleties. Is
[18:27] Speaker 2: he gonna be able to adapt in the receiving game,
[18:29] Speaker 2: like as seamlessly, as a as a blocker, all that stuff?
[18:32] Speaker 2: Will he fit with Arizona? That's not the concern for
[18:34] Speaker 2: this exercise. Running Back is a position you can come
[18:38] Speaker 2: and you can be an impact player right away for
[18:42] Speaker 2: this season. Like there's at least a chance it's on
[18:44] Speaker 2: the board Ollie that he's like a top three or
[18:47] Speaker 2: four running back as a rookie.
[18:49] Speaker 3: Right, Oh yeah, oh yeah, he's such an electric talent.
[18:53] Speaker 3: I've said this to you before, but I really thinking,
[18:55] Speaker 3: was you watched with the highlight? Really it looks like
[18:57] Speaker 3: ray g Bush and he wasted four pounds more, and
[18:59] Speaker 3: so we can do a lot of the dirty stuff
[19:00] Speaker 3: between the tackles. He can thump in there he did
[19:03] Speaker 3: play on a pitch count a noted dame, and I'm
[19:05] Speaker 3: interested to see what the pitch count will look like
[19:07] Speaker 3: in Arizona. Will he have to come off the field
[19:09] Speaker 3: on passing down. That's a great strength of his is
[19:11] Speaker 3: he's a pretty solid route running. He's really explosive from
[19:14] Speaker 3: transition catch to run and then just turning into a
[19:17] Speaker 3: runner and being able to make guys miss. But I
[19:19] Speaker 3: do question just the general route trees some of the
[19:22] Speaker 3: pass pro stuff. He's really willing, but it's difficult, I
[19:24] Speaker 3: think for rookies to come up and survive on pass
[19:27] Speaker 3: pro and the league really only McCaffrey and Zeke Elliott
[19:29] Speaker 3: have been like a plus pass pro guys from the
[19:32] Speaker 3: second they stepped into the league. It's a pretty tall
[19:34] Speaker 3: bar decline to then get the snap counts. You need
[19:37] Speaker 3: to be able to be that productive. But that's what
[19:39] Speaker 3: the great ones do. Even in the most recent history
[19:42] Speaker 3: of the league about last ten years, the guy's taken
[19:44] Speaker 3: right at the top of the draft step in the
[19:46] Speaker 3: outstanding from day one. I see no reason why Jeremiah
[19:48] Speaker 3: Love wouldn't.
[19:49] Speaker 2: Be And like jan he's got Tyler El's year to
[19:52] Speaker 2: take some of those carries away unless they trade away
[19:54] Speaker 2: Tyler Owl's year before he even takes a snap for them.
[19:58] Speaker 2: I saw someone ask as that happened, like in recent
[20:01] Speaker 2: NFL history, someone signs a contract and then they're traded
[20:04] Speaker 2: before and uh, the Teddy Bridgewater Jets was brought up
[20:07] Speaker 2: as a situation, so it can't happen. If they wanted
[20:12] Speaker 2: to go with James Connor, I guess as the backup,
[20:14] Speaker 2: and I don't think they'll do that.
[20:16] Speaker 1: I think they'll keep Algier. I don't know. I don't
[20:18] Speaker 1: know if Love would have been in Was he in
[20:20] Speaker 1: that tier for you?
[20:21] Speaker 3: He was not a nut Tiffany. I respect, I respect
[20:24] Speaker 3: the veterans too much. You'll probably correct, but I just
[20:27] Speaker 3: didn't want.
[20:27] Speaker 1: To do it to some guys.
[20:28] Speaker 2: I did feel bad about some of the greats that
[20:31] Speaker 2: I'm leaving on the table, but that's it's an unforgiving position,
[20:34] Speaker 2: and that's why I did weigh the workload that some
[20:38] Speaker 2: of these guys have had and bump Love up.
[20:40] Speaker 1: Who do you have? Seventh? Overall?
[20:42] Speaker 3: I have Jonathan Taylor, which is probably an over draft base,
[20:45] Speaker 3: and you talking about wilfload. I think the thing that
[20:48] Speaker 3: I love about Taylor is his improvement in the passing game.
[20:51] Speaker 3: The effort as a blocker has become absolutely outstanding. It
[20:54] Speaker 3: used to really wax some way, and I fought with him.
[20:56] Speaker 3: He used to when he was having really good games,
[20:58] Speaker 3: he'd be really invested in the past pro side fortune.
[21:01] Speaker 3: Last season he had a really good game every time
[21:02] Speaker 3: he stepped in the field, so he was getting after
[21:04] Speaker 3: it every single rep. I still think there is more
[21:07] Speaker 3: that they can do with him in the passing game,
[21:09] Speaker 3: and I'm excited seeing in YE two with similar pieces
[21:12] Speaker 3: if they try and expand that slightly. It's a lot
[21:14] Speaker 3: of check and release stuff with him as a receiver,
[21:16] Speaker 3: and I do think that there's work they can do
[21:18] Speaker 3: that with him, and maybe more of a mccaffree style
[21:21] Speaker 3: role shuffling around the formation slightly so. But as a
[21:24] Speaker 3: pure runner, I just don't know who has got this
[21:26] Speaker 3: good vision, as good second level juice, who's got as
[21:28] Speaker 3: good wiggle. It's just hard to find anyone out that
[21:30] Speaker 3: who's as good as a pure one track runner.
[21:33] Speaker 2: No, I think you can make the argument that he
[21:36] Speaker 2: was underdrafted here. I kept bumping him up. He's a
[21:39] Speaker 2: little higher on my list, but he was still below.
[21:42] Speaker 2: Like I think you can argue he could go as
[21:44] Speaker 2: high as three, which makes sense. He would be in
[21:46] Speaker 2: your tier because look, there was a point last year
[21:48] Speaker 2: Ali that he had more yards after contact than every
[21:55] Speaker 2: runner in the league except for two had period and
[21:58] Speaker 2: that was like Week twelve. That was basically the Daniel
[22:01] Speaker 2: Jones healthy section of the season. And the thing I
[22:05] Speaker 2: love about him he has really settled in and in
[22:08] Speaker 2: steadily I think improved. He's always been an electric runner,
[22:11] Speaker 2: but he really showed up last season and he was
[22:13] Speaker 2: a different player in the passing game.
[22:16] Speaker 1: He was no longer a negative. He was a better receiver.
[22:19] Speaker 2: He was better especially in the blocking game where they
[22:21] Speaker 2: trusted him to stay on the field. So guys can
[22:24] Speaker 2: develop five six years into their career. And yeah, if
[22:28] Speaker 2: any like I just he's one of the safer picks
[22:31] Speaker 2: I think you can make of anything.
[22:32] Speaker 1: I feel like we might we might have underrated him
[22:34] Speaker 1: a little bit.
[22:35] Speaker 3: I think taking him after Jeremiah Love is insulting after
[22:38] Speaker 3: the last season, but there's a there is a real
[22:40] Speaker 3: chance for aggression. It was such a perfect ecosystem less season,
[22:44] Speaker 3: and even the past person if they're ahead of the
[22:47] Speaker 3: chain so often because he's so excellent that he's just
[22:50] Speaker 3: not in his compromise positions as he has been previously
[22:52] Speaker 3: in his crib. It's third and medium, third and long
[22:54] Speaker 3: over and over again. Well that's sustained. I'm not so sure.
[22:57] Speaker 3: And even the passing game stiff. Like I mentioned, it's
[22:59] Speaker 3: just a lot of check and release stuff to the fly.
[23:01] Speaker 3: It's not more of the expansive type stuff, which I
[23:04] Speaker 3: do think that play is in there. James Cook has
[23:06] Speaker 3: done a lot of that similar work, but I wait
[23:10] Speaker 3: to see. I think Steichen's pretty laser focus on what
[23:13] Speaker 3: the scheme looks like.
[23:14] Speaker 2: Well, you talk about disrespectful, I mean they gone Barkley
[23:17] Speaker 2: still sitting there pretty deep into the draft, not coming
[23:21] Speaker 2: off a great season. There's another name, I know it's
[23:24] Speaker 2: intriguing to you that's available. I will take Saquon now,
[23:29] Speaker 2: just to avoid all the Eagles fans who are.
[23:33] Speaker 1: Unhappy their lives.
[23:34] Speaker 2: Look, he was hit behind the line of scrimmage one
[23:36] Speaker 2: hundred and thirty two times.
[23:39] Speaker 1: That's outrageous.
[23:41] Speaker 2: He only had one explosive in all those plays, though,
[23:43] Speaker 2: and I do think that points out. You know, he
[23:49] Speaker 2: did warm up late, and yet he did feel a
[23:51] Speaker 2: little more victim to being dependent on the offensive line,
[23:57] Speaker 2: maybe more than most. I think it's a good sign
[23:59] Speaker 2: that he warmed up up late in the season. I
[24:00] Speaker 2: thought he played his best ball later. But if I'm
[24:04] Speaker 2: talking about workload, yeah, he had one hundred and thirty
[24:06] Speaker 2: six fewer touches a year ago. Like that's the good news, Ali.
[24:10] Speaker 2: The bad news is he still had three hundred and
[24:12] Speaker 2: fifty and still you know, he has the most touches
[24:14] Speaker 2: in the last two years combined. Like if you just
[24:16] Speaker 2: care about EPA, which doesn't really make sense to me
[24:19] Speaker 2: as a rushing stat. It's more of a team stat,
[24:22] Speaker 2: like it is the second worst you know, yardage or
[24:25] Speaker 2: mark in the entire league.
[24:27] Speaker 1: Like he's just he's stuffed. You know, it was a
[24:29] Speaker 1: team wide thing.
[24:30] Speaker 2: But you do have to worry that if he's losing
[24:33] Speaker 2: a little juice or that he needed to take warm up.
[24:35] Speaker 2: I'm saying a lot of negative things, and yet he's
[24:37] Speaker 2: still Saquon Barkley, and I do think he could have
[24:40] Speaker 2: a little bit of a bounce back season, and he
[24:42] Speaker 2: doesn't need to bounce back that far to be worthy
[24:45] Speaker 2: of taking in the top ten here.
[24:47] Speaker 1: No, I agree, he's the guy of this group.
[24:49] Speaker 3: I think who has the most chance to jump into
[24:51] Speaker 3: the top two or three and have us look like
[24:52] Speaker 3: complete bozos the end of the season, like, why did
[24:54] Speaker 3: we just pass on Saquon Boggley. It was such a
[24:57] Speaker 3: show all of last season. They were tipping plays called.
[25:00] Speaker 3: They had about seven plays in the offense it was
[25:01] Speaker 3: saque to the left, it was Saque away specific designated
[25:04] Speaker 3: target point was about fifty five percent of his carries,
[25:07] Speaker 3: I mean, from the same formation. It made absolutely no sense,
[25:10] Speaker 3: So that has to clean up slightly. I did think
[25:13] Speaker 3: that he looked I couldn't tell if he was hurt
[25:15] Speaker 3: or carrying some kind of injury throughout a good stretch
[25:18] Speaker 3: of the season because he did look slower. There wasn't
[25:21] Speaker 3: quite the same kind of burst. And he's got this
[25:23] Speaker 3: unbelievable ability to kind of hop hop in two quick
[25:27] Speaker 3: cuts that just make guys evaporate. The picture for a
[25:29] Speaker 3: lot of players last season was a lot of just
[25:31] Speaker 3: the one cut, and it wasn't quite the same level
[25:33] Speaker 3: of travel that he had in the year when he
[25:36] Speaker 3: just went absolutely mayhem on the league. So but you
[25:38] Speaker 3: did see, as you mentioned, down the stretch, I thought
[25:40] Speaker 3: he had a little bit more juice down there, even
[25:42] Speaker 3: the one you're talking about where he gets hit in
[25:44] Speaker 3: the backfield that he rips off the explosive. He gets
[25:46] Speaker 3: hit at the mesh point against the Commander's spins out
[25:48] Speaker 3: of it to spin move and it's one of the
[25:49] Speaker 3: old time Saquon runs. So I think that player is
[25:52] Speaker 3: still in there. It just will it have to be
[25:54] Speaker 3: more of a pitch count. And he's always been really
[25:57] Speaker 3: offensive line and scheme dependent, more so than I I
[26:00] Speaker 3: think the reputation carries. It's just when it's the right
[26:02] Speaker 3: offensive line, when it's the right scheme. He's one of
[26:04] Speaker 3: the best backs we've seen.
[26:06] Speaker 2: Yeah, and if I'm going to knock him for the touches,
[26:10] Speaker 2: just think projecting forward. You also have to give him
[26:12] Speaker 2: credit for the durability. The last four seasons has been excellent.
[26:15] Speaker 2: I mean, he he had a heavy heavy workload in
[26:18] Speaker 2: twenty two, twenty three, and really since he came off
[26:21] Speaker 2: you know that awful injury that he had. All right,
[26:23] Speaker 2: Saquon is off the board. I'm getting well, I won't
[26:28] Speaker 2: guess who's your pick at number nine.
[26:30] Speaker 1: I'm gonna take Kenneth walk of the third. Oh okay,
[26:32] Speaker 1: now who else guessing this? To me?
[26:35] Speaker 3: I think is the most exciting player to team addition
[26:38] Speaker 3: in all of free agency. Just an explosive play waiting
[26:41] Speaker 3: to happen. The Chiefs have been crying out for so
[26:44] Speaker 3: long to really augment that run game, got to play
[26:47] Speaker 3: more in the center, got to get some explosives in
[26:50] Speaker 3: the rung game. And he's just an explosive play waiting
[26:52] Speaker 3: to happen. I think he's the one guy who's not
[26:55] Speaker 3: in the consistently held up in the elite to even
[26:58] Speaker 3: by his own staff, who's plating splitting time with Zach Shaubeney.
[27:01] Speaker 3: And I understand he's the Super Bowl MVP, but outside
[27:04] Speaker 3: of that tier, he's the one who gives you those
[27:06] Speaker 3: kind of tingly feelings of beje On and Gibbs.
[27:08] Speaker 1: I would say fair.
[27:10] Speaker 2: I mean, I'll think about that game as an example
[27:14] Speaker 2: of how Kenneth Walker doesn't always run because he was
[27:17] Speaker 2: so decisive. He like he beat the Patriots to the
[27:19] Speaker 2: outside on the very first play of the game.
[27:21] Speaker 1: I could picture it so clearly.
[27:22] Speaker 2: In my mind right now, and that that happened quite
[27:25] Speaker 2: a bit in that game. He ran up the middle
[27:26] Speaker 2: a lot, he did not hesitate. There's a crazy stat
[27:29] Speaker 2: from next Gen that he takes the longest to get
[27:34] Speaker 2: to the line of scrimmage of anyone in the next
[27:37] Speaker 2: gen stats era like he and you can kind of
[27:43] Speaker 2: see that, like he'll go he'll literally go backwards. Sometimes
[27:46] Speaker 2: he takes a while to maybe make the decision. Sometimes
[27:50] Speaker 2: two more that he also travels more to get to
[27:53] Speaker 2: the line of scrimmage. I think it was than anyone
[27:56] Speaker 2: in the next gen stats era. And yet like when
[27:59] Speaker 2: when he makes a and the creativity, there are a
[28:02] Speaker 2: few better, and so it's higher than I would have
[28:04] Speaker 2: had him because I like I like a little more
[28:06] Speaker 2: like metronomic predictability out of my running backs. I like
[28:09] Speaker 2: the boring guys sometimes, but just in terms of pure
[28:12] Speaker 2: juice and excitement, he's there.
[28:14] Speaker 3: I think there'll be some more boredom this season. I
[28:17] Speaker 3: think if you look at the rest of the Chiefs
[28:20] Speaker 3: running back room, he's gonna have to do some of
[28:22] Speaker 3: the it's third and two, we're gonna have to slam
[28:24] Speaker 3: it behind Creed Humphrey and go get the two yards,
[28:26] Speaker 3: and you can't be dancing around. You are gonna get
[28:28] Speaker 3: me on my soapbox. We do have an epidemic at
[28:30] Speaker 3: these guys who believe that Leveon Bell, and no one
[28:32] Speaker 3: can ever played the position ever. Again, like Leveon Bell,
[28:35] Speaker 3: Walk is maybe the closest and has so much more
[28:39] Speaker 3: sudden burst than Levon even had. The You just picture
[28:44] Speaker 3: him when they're running all that patient stuff and it's
[28:46] Speaker 3: read out, read out, wait for the linebacker to commit.
[28:48] Speaker 3: Once he shows one way, you fire the other way,
[28:50] Speaker 3: which is the style he prefers to play. And you're
[28:52] Speaker 3: doing that behind Creed Humphrey and Trey Smith and Kingsley
[28:55] Speaker 3: Sue Mattia, who if nothing else, can drive people off
[28:58] Speaker 3: the ball. I think it's going to be a pretty
[29:00] Speaker 3: lethfull season.
[29:01] Speaker 2: You've put me in a tough spot. I really don't
[29:03] Speaker 2: know who to take tenth. I kept I play. You
[29:06] Speaker 2: know you're saying I'm playing mental games getting you to
[29:10] Speaker 2: the draft spot a little earlier than you expected. Were
[29:14] Speaker 2: you playing mental games with me when you said quote
[29:17] Speaker 2: the Kyrone Williams explosive run cut up tape is the
[29:21] Speaker 2: most fun I've had in weeks watching that. Are you
[29:23] Speaker 2: trying to make me take Kyrien Williams early? Is this
[29:26] Speaker 2: too early for Kyrien Williams?
[29:27] Speaker 3: What do you think I would be all in if
[29:29] Speaker 3: I was ever allowed to run a team, which would
[29:31] Speaker 3: be even more of a disaster in the mail congrudent,
[29:33] Speaker 3: I fully accept that I would be doing the dirtiest tricks.
[29:36] Speaker 3: I'd be leaking everything to rap she. All of my
[29:38] Speaker 3: guys I'd bring in my building will be a complete fugazy.
[29:42] Speaker 1: So it's pulsible.
[29:44] Speaker 2: Maybe I should just leave him for you, But that
[29:48] Speaker 2: in on my final board. He's the next one. I'm
[29:50] Speaker 2: sticking to my board. What the heck it'll it'll pay
[29:53] Speaker 2: you to do it. Kyron Williams is off the board,
[29:56] Speaker 2: head of some head of some really talented, big name players.
[30:00] Speaker 2: He was sixth in mistackle force yards and like I said,
[30:04] Speaker 2: I do like the consistent players. In terms of guys
[30:07] Speaker 2: who had over eighty hundred carries, I believe my cutoff
[30:10] Speaker 2: was second in success rate. He's always in the top five.
[30:14] Speaker 2: And like rushing over expected, you just know what you
[30:17] Speaker 2: are getting. You aren't getting the explosive plays as much,
[30:20] Speaker 2: but the fact that they gave him that contract, the
[30:23] Speaker 2: fact that you know exactly where he's going, and it
[30:26] Speaker 2: is an esthetically pleasing game to me watching Kyron Williams run.
[30:31] Speaker 2: I can live without that. If it's good enough for
[30:33] Speaker 2: Sean McVay to give that contract too. He's good enough
[30:35] Speaker 2: for me at number ten.
[30:37] Speaker 3: Yeah, I went through, as you said, the explosive coutup
[30:39] Speaker 3: reel this afternoon and it is absolutely outrageous. I never
[30:43] Speaker 3: gave him enough credit for the level of intellect, the
[30:47] Speaker 3: spatial awareness, the general vision. I think if you're just
[30:50] Speaker 3: putting together we live in a league of the duo
[30:52] Speaker 3: run now right, with the two big doubles coming inside,
[30:54] Speaker 3: you got to try and rip it out the back door.
[30:56] Speaker 3: That's the idea for the back you know what it's
[30:59] Speaker 3: it's the best play in the league traditionally with the
[31:01] Speaker 3: best runners of that stuff. It's James Cook. That's the
[31:03] Speaker 3: number one guy on the board. Karen Wililms might be
[31:05] Speaker 3: the second best guy. It was the staple run diet
[31:07] Speaker 3: now of the league. Just the way that the patience
[31:10] Speaker 3: and the fluidity, the degree of travel he has on
[31:14] Speaker 3: the cuts, it really is incredible. And then once he
[31:17] Speaker 3: gets the second level, the vision and the wiggle and
[31:20] Speaker 3: the burst. He is such an unbelievable back and I
[31:24] Speaker 3: just never gave him enough credit. In my head, he's
[31:26] Speaker 3: always reminded me of James White from the Patriots dynasty,
[31:30] Speaker 3: and he really gets after impassed protection. Barely ever makes
[31:33] Speaker 3: a mistake, even though the some kind of size mismatches,
[31:36] Speaker 3: and he's elusive and he can catch the ball, and
[31:38] Speaker 3: he's like a solid scheme fit. I just think you
[31:40] Speaker 3: could PLoP him in any offense in the league right
[31:43] Speaker 3: now and he would still have the same amount production.
[31:46] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's part of it. There's a couple of people
[31:48] Speaker 2: where I might be kicking myself. It's like a little
[31:50] Speaker 2: higher ceiling or different things I like about them, But
[31:54] Speaker 2: I'm a little like you if it was my team.
[31:57] Speaker 1: This is where I happened.
[31:58] Speaker 2: I mean, that is why I put him next on
[32:01] Speaker 2: the list, So I have to be true to that
[32:03] Speaker 2: in that he really has.
[32:05] Speaker 3: The He isn't as explosive as the great ones, but
[32:08] Speaker 3: he has all kind of the under the hood tools
[32:11] Speaker 3: of the great ones. And I think the thing that
[32:13] Speaker 3: stands out to me the most when you watch the
[32:15] Speaker 3: cutup of the runs is the understanding of the temp
[32:18] Speaker 3: of what he's trying to do. Is he just modulates
[32:21] Speaker 3: his tempo and then he makes guys with crazy rate.
[32:24] Speaker 3: He's always matching the blocking mechanics. It's the stuff that
[32:27] Speaker 3: is really really tricky when you get the great players
[32:29] Speaker 3: coming from Collagen too, the pro so one like Jeremiah Love.
[32:32] Speaker 3: It's such a mechanical game in the Pro, the run
[32:35] Speaker 3: schemes are so precise on when you're supposed to hit
[32:38] Speaker 3: certain spots in the line of scrimmage. His feel for
[32:41] Speaker 3: what they're doing is unreal.
[32:43] Speaker 2: So Alie mentioned, you know, the most funny he's had
[32:46] Speaker 2: was watching this this cut up of his explosives just
[32:49] Speaker 2: five or six minutes. He lovingly cut that down to
[32:53] Speaker 2: a few minutes. So this is our advertisement. This is
[32:56] Speaker 2: for NFL plus for NFL Pro that Ali made this
[33:01] Speaker 2: cut up from his NFL Pro and you can check
[33:04] Speaker 2: it out on YouTube with the vertical vision and just
[33:08] Speaker 2: the stiff arms and just the making people missing the
[33:10] Speaker 2: open field. Kyrien Williams. That's great stuff. We will take
[33:14] Speaker 2: a quick break. That is our top ten running backs.
[33:17] Speaker 2: Derrick Henry has not been drafted. Some other great runners
[33:21] Speaker 2: have been drafted. I'm very curious how the end of
[33:23] Speaker 2: this draft is going to go because it just feels
[33:25] Speaker 2: like a grab bag after the top twenty or twenty
[33:27] Speaker 2: two or so runners.
[33:29] Speaker 1: We'll be back in a few minutes. Back on NFL Daily.
[33:45] Speaker 2: Oli's in the comments last week and points out this
[33:48] Speaker 2: one on YouTube.
[33:48] Speaker 1: I like this. Someone wrote this was fun.
[33:52] Speaker 2: I don't really care about the rankings, but I enjoy
[33:55] Speaker 2: a brit and a mask just talking ball and.
[33:58] Speaker 1: Building up the best pass rush out there. Fun stuff.
[34:01] Speaker 2: Yeah, that is what I love about this NFL Daily
[34:03] Speaker 2: thirty two series. It gives us, you know, a chance
[34:07] Speaker 2: to just talk for two minutes about I don't know,
[34:11] Speaker 2: Chase Brown or someone that could be coming up soon
[34:14] Speaker 2: in these rankings. Whoever it might be, might might have
[34:17] Speaker 2: given away my board a little bit.
[34:19] Speaker 3: You may have given away. Ever, so it's like I'm
[34:21] Speaker 3: going to take Derek Henry off the board. I'm not
[34:23] Speaker 3: going to allow the disrespect to continue. I understand that
[34:27] Speaker 3: if you look through some of the advanced metrics, there
[34:29] Speaker 3: is a drop to kind of career low levels with
[34:32] Speaker 3: some of the things where he's always been the master,
[34:34] Speaker 3: and whether it's the mistackle misforced tackles at the second level,
[34:38] Speaker 3: which is really where he does his devastating work, it's
[34:41] Speaker 3: still they're still outrageous figures compared to the rest of
[34:45] Speaker 3: the league. It's oh, he fell from being a first
[34:47] Speaker 3: ballot Hall of Fame at the being, I don't know
[34:49] Speaker 3: a second go around Hall of Fame type productive player.
[34:52] Speaker 3: So I still believe in Derek Henry. At some point
[34:54] Speaker 3: the decline will come. I'm never going to allow myself
[34:56] Speaker 3: to live in a world where I pre project the
[34:59] Speaker 3: Derek Henry de Cloud.
[35:00] Speaker 1: I still want to view football that way.
[35:02] Speaker 2: Well, I have been living in that world, and it's
[35:05] Speaker 2: been a horrible world. I've been wrong. It's outrageous. This
[35:08] Speaker 2: man is thirty two years old. Remember when people were saying,
[35:13] Speaker 2: who's gonna be the next running back to make the
[35:15] Speaker 2: Hall of Fame.
[35:15] Speaker 1: There's gonna be no one in this generation.
[35:18] Speaker 2: I mean, this guy has got over fifteen hundred yards
[35:21] Speaker 2: five times, including last season. And you mentioned, you know,
[35:25] Speaker 2: some of the advanced metrics fair enough, like he's not
[35:27] Speaker 2: a guy who's like ranking high in the mistackle rates
[35:31] Speaker 2: or anything, but he's still finished last year fourth in
[35:35] Speaker 2: mistackles force yards like yardage after forcing miss tackle because
[35:38] Speaker 2: when he does break a tackle, he still goes for
[35:41] Speaker 2: a long one. And he was really hurt by Lamar
[35:45] Speaker 2: Jackson not being out there the numbers when he was
[35:49] Speaker 2: back in the lineup late in the season with Lamar
[35:51] Speaker 2: Jackson were back to peak. Derek Henry so a little
[35:53] Speaker 2: like Saquon. He warmed up late, and honestly, I'm I'm
[35:57] Speaker 2: regretting how Lady went in this draft.
[35:58] Speaker 3: Already in the last season, Lamar in the lineup, lamar
[36:03] Speaker 3: out the lineup that he's not quite as slipper as
[36:05] Speaker 3: he was a couple of years ago. The long speed
[36:07] Speaker 3: isn't quite the same, but he's still just as tough
[36:09] Speaker 3: to tackle as.
[36:09] Speaker 1: Any in the league.
[36:10] Speaker 3: And that is the name of running the bull. Can
[36:12] Speaker 3: you get the guy on the ground all not? And
[36:13] Speaker 3: still I just think that that's not going through a road.
[36:16] Speaker 3: I don't think in such a short space of time.
[36:18] Speaker 2: So you know, he's not helping on passing downs or else.
[36:21] Speaker 2: If we're just if we made this a like who'd
[36:26] Speaker 2: you just need for one carry? Or who do you
[36:28] Speaker 2: just need on a first and ten run like that's
[36:31] Speaker 2: Derreck Henry would be ranking higher. Almost all the runners
[36:35] Speaker 2: that we're picking are versatile every down guys, and Henry
[36:38] Speaker 2: never really improved or has been used. Also, he's not
[36:42] Speaker 2: a like great player on Madden f almost a lot.
[36:44] Speaker 2: You know, it's a little bit of a factor. It's
[36:47] Speaker 2: partly the passing down thing. But he's like not great
[36:48] Speaker 2: on Madden. I'd dig him a little for that, all right,
[36:50] Speaker 2: I will go Chase Brown next. I talked him up
[36:54] Speaker 2: as one of the more underrated players in the league.
[36:57] Speaker 2: I mean, he's not that for fantasy, but I think
[36:59] Speaker 2: just in terms of a a complete back, almost in
[37:02] Speaker 2: the same category of Kyra and Williams in a different
[37:05] Speaker 2: way to me. But I like the way that he
[37:07] Speaker 2: uses tempo. I like the consistency. I like that he's
[37:11] Speaker 2: steadily improved each and every season. I think this is
[37:13] Speaker 2: the absolute right year to have Chase Brown. You are
[37:16] Speaker 2: a right smack like in his absolute peak of his
[37:20] Speaker 2: powers mentally, like down the stretch. He's fifth in the
[37:22] Speaker 2: league in yards from scrimmage. I think he's shown that
[37:23] Speaker 2: he can handle a bigger workload. Like he's not Dereck Henry,
[37:29] Speaker 2: but he's a pretty good inside runner. And so Chase
[37:31] Speaker 2: Brown to me is just an all around complete back.
[37:34] Speaker 2: Could he have a James Cook, you know, twenty twenty
[37:37] Speaker 2: five type season in him. I think it's possible, and
[37:40] Speaker 2: so Chase Brown is my pick at number twelve.
[37:42] Speaker 3: I love that pick. I'm frustrated that you took him
[37:45] Speaker 3: before me. One thing I do love about Chase Brown
[37:47] Speaker 3: if you just watch the stents, he has the very
[37:50] Speaker 3: similar stense to Askton Gent. Yeah, it is the most
[37:53] Speaker 3: nonchalant pre snap setup in ol of football. I mean,
[37:56] Speaker 3: Ashton genty, you get it. This is one of the
[37:57] Speaker 3: greatest running backs in the history college football. He's drafted
[38:00] Speaker 3: high in the first round. Chase Bran's like he's out there.
[38:03] Speaker 3: He thinks he's on that level. I admire that about
[38:05] Speaker 3: that guy. And there are just no knocks. If you said, Okay,
[38:08] Speaker 3: what's the demerit, it's really hard to find with Chase Browann.
[38:11] Speaker 3: I think the only major concern I think is in
[38:13] Speaker 3: pass pro, and they take him off the field pretty
[38:16] Speaker 3: consistently when he is on the field and he brings
[38:18] Speaker 3: you the receiving threats, so you got to have some
[38:20] Speaker 3: pass pro chops to be able to stay on there
[38:22] Speaker 3: as the receiving threat.
[38:23] Speaker 1: It's pretty putrid.
[38:25] Speaker 3: Although Pran was also pretty brutal last season, so that
[38:29] Speaker 3: I think still needs work, and I think he's willing.
[38:31] Speaker 3: It's just the eyes and the vision and where he's
[38:32] Speaker 3: supposed to be is just all over the place. But
[38:35] Speaker 3: as a runner, I think he plays with the perfect
[38:38] Speaker 3: blend of decisiveness and patience. And that's just the thing.
[38:40] Speaker 3: I'm always looking forward. You're tip too far one way,
[38:43] Speaker 3: you start either out running or underrunning the mechanics, and
[38:47] Speaker 3: then when you see it, can you rip it? And
[38:48] Speaker 3: I think he's just he's just got the knack for
[38:50] Speaker 3: what the balance should look like.
[38:52] Speaker 2: Yeah, And it's interesting you say that about like identifying
[38:54] Speaker 2: the blitzers because one of the things, and I did
[38:57] Speaker 2: go back, we could spend all week of our lives
[39:01] Speaker 2: like prep prepping for this show, and I do prep
[39:03] Speaker 2: a lot. I wish I could watch more tape of everyone,
[39:05] Speaker 2: but I did watch a decent amount of Chase Brown,
[39:08] Speaker 2: and I thought he was really good identifying like where
[39:11] Speaker 2: on run plays, where the pressure was gonna come from,
[39:14] Speaker 2: like what the defense was gonna do, and how to
[39:17] Speaker 2: adapt to it. And he's got some great spin moves.
[39:20] Speaker 2: Just a really smart, fun player. I think could have
[39:23] Speaker 2: his best season coming up. Who do you got for
[39:25] Speaker 2: number thirteen?
[39:26] Speaker 3: Oh, it's a loaded board here, trying to figure out
[39:30] Speaker 3: do I want to take that player or now I'll
[39:32] Speaker 3: take brace hole. I think the short area of quickness
[39:35] Speaker 3: and vision, he's a really slick runner, and he's got
[39:38] Speaker 3: I think, great second effort runs, which he is required
[39:41] Speaker 3: to do an awful lot great strength for a guy
[39:43] Speaker 3: who is not built like Derrek Hemry. I think his
[39:46] Speaker 3: feel for again of navigating through traffic is one that
[39:49] Speaker 3: the higher in the league that he doesn't I don't
[39:51] Speaker 3: think have the same sudden burst when the ball is
[39:54] Speaker 3: shoot into the gut. He doesn't quite rip off the
[39:56] Speaker 3: ball the same way that some of the really elite
[39:59] Speaker 3: backs do. He glides through the line of scrimmage. And
[40:01] Speaker 3: we've talked about this before. We has always used to
[40:03] Speaker 3: say something that I always come back to, which is
[40:05] Speaker 3: the guys who kind of climb through the line with
[40:07] Speaker 3: a cut, but they're still gathering speed as they go,
[40:10] Speaker 3: they just play quicker than they would ever time, or
[40:13] Speaker 3: then they look like when they initially get the ball.
[40:14] Speaker 3: And he, to me is that kind of really breezy
[40:16] Speaker 3: wide zone cut runner where we dropped him on the
[40:19] Speaker 3: Broncos with Alex Gibbs back in the day, he'd probably
[40:21] Speaker 3: set the all time rushing record.
[40:23] Speaker 1: Not is I love those style of rushes.
[40:25] Speaker 2: Yeah, He's always left me a little unmoved. Why is that?
[40:29] Speaker 2: What is my shortcoming that I'm missing on Brisow. I
[40:32] Speaker 2: had him ranked right around here. It's not different, but
[40:35] Speaker 2: it just it hasn't given me the tingleys as you would.
[40:37] Speaker 3: Probably yeah, probably the top end speed eight. He doesn't
[40:40] Speaker 3: have like the jolting cuts. I think it is really
[40:43] Speaker 3: more of a smoothness thing. But even when you watch
[40:45] Speaker 3: against the Browns, he made four defenders four defenders on
[40:48] Speaker 3: one player. By the way Jets offense twenty twenty five,
[40:51] Speaker 3: that's how it went down twice in one game, four
[40:53] Speaker 3: defenders had a shot on bres Howling made a mess
[40:56] Speaker 3: with one move. So he really can make guys misses,
[40:58] Speaker 3: just I don't think quite a and as spicy as
[41:01] Speaker 3: some of the more explosive backs in the league.
[41:04] Speaker 2: Yeah, he ranks like very high for next gen on
[41:07] Speaker 2: rush yards over expected, but not as high and like
[41:09] Speaker 2: forcing miss tackles. It might be the way they're measuring
[41:11] Speaker 2: it to in terms of not being as obvious. But yeah,
[41:14] Speaker 2: he's been in tough situations, as he's alluded to, and
[41:17] Speaker 2: the juice was definitely back for him last year.
[41:18] Speaker 1: That's one thing.
[41:19] Speaker 2: Like when Breese Hall has the juice, it's it's obvious.
[41:23] Speaker 2: I'm going to Mari and Hampton next, I'm betting on
[41:27] Speaker 2: the improvement. Ali's eyebrows go up, but I feel good
[41:31] Speaker 2: about it. He's it's got to improve a little bit
[41:33] Speaker 2: on inside runs, which is, you know, not what you
[41:36] Speaker 2: would expect out of such a big guy. But the
[41:39] Speaker 2: combination Ali of running someone over and running for a
[41:45] Speaker 2: fifty yard play, like that's not always my type. And
[41:49] Speaker 2: yet I just feel like, if anyone can have that
[41:52] Speaker 2: sort of profile, Derrick Henry Light, I think he could
[41:56] Speaker 2: do it. The numbers were incredible. I mean he got
[41:59] Speaker 2: hit in the back field a ton. He was in
[42:01] Speaker 2: the top five in terms of getting him in the backfield.
[42:03] Speaker 2: And yet he had a ton of explosives, had a
[42:06] Speaker 2: high success rate, like his EPA was very high for
[42:09] Speaker 2: running back, like made people miss, and so when he
[42:12] Speaker 2: was out there, he was really dynamic. That the problem
[42:16] Speaker 2: is the injuries, and you know, in the open field,
[42:19] Speaker 2: he's not a guy that's got to have a lot
[42:21] Speaker 2: of wiggle, But I don't think he needs it with
[42:23] Speaker 2: everything else he has.
[42:25] Speaker 3: He is supremely talented. I loved him coming out of college.
[42:29] Speaker 3: I was not in love with the rookie tape, and
[42:33] Speaker 3: that's stripping away the environment. I understand the charge offensive
[42:36] Speaker 3: Linstin's a little bit of a prehistoric run game offense,
[42:39] Speaker 3: and I'll buy into Tyler Biadish and a new fund
[42:42] Speaker 3: might McDaniel system can unlock all the potential. But even
[42:45] Speaker 3: if you just go through all the run stuffs, it's
[42:47] Speaker 3: not just Hey, the charge is getting molded up front.
[42:49] Speaker 3: The guy has no chance. He makes a lot of
[42:51] Speaker 3: bad decisions and he constantly drops his eyes before he
[42:54] Speaker 3: even gets the line of scrimmage. So to me, when
[42:57] Speaker 3: I went through the early post of the season, he
[42:58] Speaker 3: looked way more explosive than he did throughout the season.
[43:02] Speaker 1: He didn't look quite.
[43:03] Speaker 3: As explosive, as kind of a size speed weight type
[43:06] Speaker 3: player as he did in college. And then he was
[43:08] Speaker 3: playing I thought a little bit timid. Now that could
[43:11] Speaker 3: just be uncomfortability with the offense. That could be Hey,
[43:13] Speaker 3: the guys in front of me stink and I'm getting
[43:15] Speaker 3: pasted every single time.
[43:16] Speaker 1: Might carry the ball. This isn't fun.
[43:17] Speaker 3: I can't wait till next season. We might make Daniel
[43:19] Speaker 3: and taller be out it show up and my tackles
[43:21] Speaker 3: a bag. I'll give it a full go then. But
[43:23] Speaker 3: I was left feeling pretty hollow, particularly going back through
[43:26] Speaker 3: the film and digging through trying to decipher who's to
[43:29] Speaker 3: blame for which failed rep. I just had it log
[43:32] Speaker 3: down as Omar and Hampton way more than I thought
[43:35] Speaker 3: when I was kind of watching rolling through the season.
[43:38] Speaker 2: Well, it's good to hear you. You liked him coming
[43:40] Speaker 2: out of college. I do think, you know, maybe that's
[43:43] Speaker 2: a rookie thing. I know, great running backs adapt quickly.
[43:47] Speaker 2: But he's landing now in what should be a pretty
[43:51] Speaker 2: ideal situation.
[43:52] Speaker 1: We're not.
[43:52] Speaker 2: We're not drafting for the Mike McDaniel situation. But yeah,
[43:56] Speaker 2: I hope some of those things. Also, the flashes were there,
[43:59] Speaker 2: Like the Grant is absolutely I'm cherry picking a little
[44:03] Speaker 2: bit because it's like literally just the first month of
[44:04] Speaker 2: the season, but that was enough that I was just like, oh, okay,
[44:08] Speaker 2: I'm not letting.
[44:08] Speaker 1: Him fall too far.
[44:09] Speaker 3: I'll say this too. He has won the single best
[44:12] Speaker 3: reps of the season in pass Pro. He stands one
[44:15] Speaker 3: on one against Zach Allen, who has about seventy pounds
[44:17] Speaker 3: on him, and he doesn't just hold up. He drills
[44:20] Speaker 3: Zach Allen to the floor. So the rest of it
[44:23] Speaker 3: complete nightmare. Fuel had no idea what was going on.
[44:26] Speaker 3: But that is all you really need to see in
[44:27] Speaker 3: the rookie like, well, he stand up against the guy siventy,
[44:29] Speaker 3: bounced everything. One of the old pros in the NFL
[44:31] Speaker 3: defensive tackle will take him out in the facetam, we'll
[44:34] Speaker 3: do that.
[44:34] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[44:35] Speaker 2: I do worry about him, him seeking out contact, him
[44:38] Speaker 2: taking huge hits that I think was a problem even
[44:41] Speaker 2: in his running stat like not everyone can be Derrick
[44:44] Speaker 2: Henry and so is he gonna have to find a
[44:47] Speaker 2: way to avoid some of those monster collisions. Not really,
[44:51] Speaker 2: you can't do that as a big running back. All right,
[44:52] Speaker 2: you're up with number fifteen.
[44:54] Speaker 3: I'm going to take Ashton Gent. I'm actually surprised that
[44:57] Speaker 3: he's still on the bollt here. I thought I'd be
[44:58] Speaker 3: way lower on him. Then you would be another rookie way.
[45:04] Speaker 3: It just felt like he was really slow to process everything.
[45:07] Speaker 3: Now obviously he didn't have any time at all to
[45:09] Speaker 3: be able to proces anything. He was hitting the backfield
[45:11] Speaker 3: an astronomical rate led the league and stuff rate. I
[45:15] Speaker 3: do think the development as a receiver is the key
[45:18] Speaker 3: thing with him. The numbers ballooned later in the year
[45:20] Speaker 3: with him as a receiver, and I think there's so
[45:23] Speaker 3: much more potential in there as a pass catcher than
[45:26] Speaker 3: was even on display when they were trying to get
[45:28] Speaker 3: him rolling late last season. If you go through just
[45:30] Speaker 3: some of the figures, seventy two percent of his targets
[45:33] Speaker 3: or just routes run were you've a flat route, so
[45:36] Speaker 3: just leaking out to the flat or some kind of screen,
[45:40] Speaker 3: and the screen tape is like Madden twelve half back
[45:44] Speaker 3: slip screen. It's the most mundane, unimaginative style of let's
[45:47] Speaker 3: get the ball to our best player possible. And if
[45:50] Speaker 3: you go through all the really high level backs we've
[45:53] Speaker 3: already drafted that, it's just a chasm of difference between
[45:56] Speaker 3: that being kind of the route distribution that's more in
[45:59] Speaker 3: the mold of someone like Zach Shalbine of that type
[46:03] Speaker 3: of play. Then it is the really great backs you
[46:05] Speaker 3: can move all around the formation, and I think he's
[46:07] Speaker 3: got that potentially as a receiver. If you go back
[46:09] Speaker 3: to Boise State, he didn't do any of that stuff
[46:12] Speaker 3: in the final year, the huge season, but the year
[46:14] Speaker 3: before he was a really dynamic receiving threat, and so
[46:17] Speaker 3: I think that is where we could maybe see him own. Look,
[46:20] Speaker 3: what is the very obvious size, speed potential.
[46:23] Speaker 1: Yeah, and maybe I'm being unfair to him.
[46:26] Speaker 2: It's an expectations thing that the expectations were so high,
[46:29] Speaker 2: and I was sort of on the corner that, yes,
[46:33] Speaker 2: he was hitting the backfield like an outrageous amount the
[46:36] Speaker 2: first six seven weeks of the season especially, And yeah,
[46:40] Speaker 2: it was a terrible situation obviously, But I was always
[46:44] Speaker 2: in the camp of like, yeah, but I feel like
[46:47] Speaker 2: I would see it a little more from genty and
[46:50] Speaker 2: I just didn't see it as much as you know, Look,
[46:53] Speaker 2: I just took Hampton, and I might regret that ahead
[46:56] Speaker 2: of him, but I felt like I saw it more
[46:59] Speaker 2: with Hampton in the brief time that he was out
[47:01] Speaker 2: there healthy.
[47:02] Speaker 1: I would agree with that.
[47:03] Speaker 3: I've also been on the corner that it's just really
[47:06] Speaker 3: easy to say everything else was a disaster. It's nothing
[47:08] Speaker 3: to do with him. If you just go through play
[47:10] Speaker 3: by play, there are plenty of why the stop star
[47:12] Speaker 3: Quicks just on an NFL speed. I mean, you can
[47:14] Speaker 3: go through the dat and see that he is ranking
[47:16] Speaker 3: really low, and what in just time to arrive to
[47:19] Speaker 3: the line of scrimmage, what's happening further down the field
[47:22] Speaker 3: when he does break through that it isn't at that level.
[47:24] Speaker 3: He was the guy thought who if anyone could replicate
[47:26] Speaker 3: the output of Derek Hemry a kind of different body type,
[47:29] Speaker 3: it will be Ashton genty. And something I've learned from
[47:31] Speaker 3: going through the gent experience is you will go broke
[47:34] Speaker 3: chasing the next Derek Emray. This is never gonna happen again.
[47:36] Speaker 3: It's a wanted a career situation. Be gratefully, you got
[47:38] Speaker 3: to cover the guy. It's it's just not gonna happen again.
[47:41] Speaker 1: And look, he got better late in the season.
[47:43] Speaker 2: If if you want to feel good about gend go
[47:45] Speaker 2: watch the Texans tape where he had that big catch,
[47:48] Speaker 2: But he also was very consistent as a runner against
[47:51] Speaker 2: one of the best, if not the best defenses in
[47:53] Speaker 2: the league. It did get better late, but I think
[47:56] Speaker 2: this is about where he deserved to go. I don't
[47:57] Speaker 2: I don't feel bad about that. We're gonna We're gonna
[48:00] Speaker 2: stay with the twenty twenty five rookies and I'm gonna
[48:03] Speaker 2: go Travon Henderson next. Not exactly like my favorite style.
[48:08] Speaker 2: Like I said, I liked the kyroen. I liked the consistency,
[48:11] Speaker 2: and he was the ultimate boom or bust player last year,
[48:16] Speaker 2: Travon Henderson. But one thing I like, which absolutely showed
[48:20] Speaker 2: up in the stats was he was outstanding inside the tackles.
[48:23] Speaker 1: I mean, he just was.
[48:26] Speaker 2: A great power runner and like when he made you miss,
[48:31] Speaker 2: he made a count. There was that stat that I
[48:33] Speaker 2: had in terms of like average yardage when you do
[48:36] Speaker 2: make someone miss, in terms of a misstackle like Trayvon
[48:38] Speaker 2: Henderson was top five in the NFL. So that explosiveness
[48:42] Speaker 2: is incredible. I think he just runs hard, which is
[48:45] Speaker 2: something you can't exactly teach. And I like in terms
[48:49] Speaker 2: of taking him here that what was supposed to be
[48:52] Speaker 2: one of his biggest strength, which was in past protection,
[48:54] Speaker 2: which he looked great in college, was a big negative
[48:57] Speaker 2: last year and he seemed to be swimming mentally. You
[48:59] Speaker 2: would think, think that's gonna be something that really improves
[49:02] Speaker 2: and then he becomes more of a complete back.
[49:05] Speaker 3: I really hope so. And it's one of the most
[49:07] Speaker 3: fun college players in the last decade to study all
[49:10] Speaker 3: three facets of the game, running, receiving, and protecting. I
[49:14] Speaker 3: just thought he was pretty frazzle for much of last season.
[49:17] Speaker 3: So he's getting by on the between the tackles stiff
[49:19] Speaker 3: for the famous spill out run against the Books where
[49:22] Speaker 3: he kind of hits the line, spins out, there's no
[49:24] Speaker 3: where he is, then goes down the field and has
[49:26] Speaker 3: to look to the silent and no one to slide
[49:28] Speaker 3: down or not. It all felt really indecisive, like everything
[49:31] Speaker 3: was happening too quickly for him. And yeah, he's still
[49:33] Speaker 3: just quicker than everyone on the field. So if you
[49:35] Speaker 3: can get a crease, if you can find some kind
[49:37] Speaker 3: of angle, he can really make it count. I do
[49:39] Speaker 3: hope things slowed down for him in the second season.
[49:41] Speaker 3: If he can earn the trust to survive on passing downs,
[49:44] Speaker 3: which I think is still an open question, then this
[49:47] Speaker 3: will be a pretty big bogain I think in.
[49:49] Speaker 2: This Yeah, he's a.
[49:51] Speaker 1: Boomer bus guy.
[49:52] Speaker 2: Like, look, if it we're projecting a little bit, if
[49:57] Speaker 2: we were talking about last season, I would be like
[49:59] Speaker 2: the Paige.
[50:00] Speaker 1: I would like by the end of the season, like
[50:03] Speaker 1: it was.
[50:03] Speaker 2: All Remandre when when it really mattered, and there's other
[50:06] Speaker 2: veteran backs that were about to take that. I think
[50:08] Speaker 2: we're more trustworthy than Henderson was last season. And yet,
[50:12] Speaker 2: like I said, we're projecting a little forward and I
[50:15] Speaker 2: like him here all right, Who do you.
[50:16] Speaker 3: Got, I'm going to take Travis Hn from the Saints.
[50:20] Speaker 3: Some of the most ridiculous cuts and stop star speed
[50:24] Speaker 3: in the league forces a crazy amount of mistackles. I
[50:29] Speaker 3: think they just look at the Saints and I know
[50:31] Speaker 3: it's kind of separating the player out, but they need
[50:33] Speaker 3: to dramatically rework their red zone offense.
[50:35] Speaker 1: In general.
[50:36] Speaker 3: The best way to be, I think, is to get
[50:37] Speaker 3: a guy with unbelievable stop star quicks who can make
[50:40] Speaker 3: some more miss even when you blow the play up
[50:42] Speaker 3: by design. Just a player I really am. I'm slightly
[50:45] Speaker 3: worried about the projection of being stripped out of the
[50:47] Speaker 3: Liam Cohen offense because he is a little bit boom bust.
[50:50] Speaker 3: He is I think, more of a one track runner
[50:52] Speaker 3: than a read it out and then plant and fire,
[50:55] Speaker 3: which is what his kind of skills suggests he would be.
[50:58] Speaker 3: Is like a read it, read it, read and then explode.
[51:01] Speaker 3: I think he's just bet upon a straight line. So
[51:04] Speaker 3: I'm a little bit unsure about that with the Saints particularly,
[51:08] Speaker 3: but he has all the juice in the wold, and
[51:10] Speaker 3: so at this state of the draft, I think it's
[51:12] Speaker 3: pretty good value.
[51:13] Speaker 2: And his numbers have been remarkably consistent. In three of
[51:16] Speaker 2: his four seasons, he has at least thirteen hundred and
[51:19] Speaker 2: ninety nine yards. He couldn't get one more yard last year,
[51:22] Speaker 2: so I could have just said an even fourteen hundred.
[51:26] Speaker 2: And I think he's become more complete and being able
[51:28] Speaker 2: to handle like the inside runs and everything, and that
[51:31] Speaker 2: I do think he is a better player than he was.
[51:34] Speaker 1: Excuse me, as a rookie.
[51:36] Speaker 2: Something bothers me a little bit about him that Liam
[51:39] Speaker 2: Cohn maybe didn't like love him.
[51:41] Speaker 1: I don't know. There was always this vibe that Liam
[51:43] Speaker 1: Cohn didn't love him. Why do you think that was.
[51:46] Speaker 3: It's just got to be trustworthiness that you just don't
[51:49] Speaker 3: always know what you're getting. That you're such a creature
[51:53] Speaker 3: and you'll hope till you know three in the morning,
[51:55] Speaker 3: and you're not going to the kids down recitals. And
[51:57] Speaker 3: the point is to hit it through the bee gap
[51:58] Speaker 3: at this tempo and the guys do his own thing.
[52:01] Speaker 3: I'm always more cool with the autist, particularly that position.
[52:03] Speaker 1: I'm good with it.
[52:03] Speaker 3: It's like we hit to chase home run shots. I
[52:06] Speaker 3: don't really care about the full yachts. So someone like
[52:08] Speaker 3: Travis hm Well, I think will always appeal to be
[52:10] Speaker 3: more than guys who's like livelihoods around the line.
[52:13] Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think that could be like a very
[52:14] Speaker 2: high ceiling Saints offensive line if they can stay healthy
[52:17] Speaker 2: in a good running game.
[52:18] Speaker 1: So it could be a good situation. Again, they got
[52:20] Speaker 1: to stay healthy.
[52:21] Speaker 2: It is now time for the offseason ride along presented
[52:24] Speaker 2: by Toyota, and I'm picking between two guys who I
[52:27] Speaker 2: wanted to push up the board of two of my favorites,
[52:32] Speaker 2: and I'm just gonna do it. If you look at
[52:34] Speaker 2: Rimandre Stevenson's profile like last season, and granted his career
[52:39] Speaker 2: has been up up and down, I mean especially his receiving,
[52:44] Speaker 2: but in general, his like under the hood statistical profile
[52:48] Speaker 2: would tell you like he's a top ten runner. He
[52:50] Speaker 2: is top ten in rush yards over expected, he's top
[52:53] Speaker 2: ten and receiving yards over expected. He led the NFL
[52:55] Speaker 2: among running backs in EPA per target. Now, there are
[52:58] Speaker 2: a couple of like big plays in there, but even
[53:00] Speaker 2: if you strip that out, it's pretty high. He also
[53:03] Speaker 2: had like the deepest yards per target of any running
[53:06] Speaker 2: back and still had the highest catch percentage. And so
[53:09] Speaker 2: you put that all into the mix, and I just
[53:11] Speaker 2: think he has a remarkably reliable pair of hands and
[53:14] Speaker 2: was a great just bailout moment for Drake May during
[53:18] Speaker 2: big plays and look he makes people missed there. There
[53:23] Speaker 2: aren't a ton of explosives or like jaw dropping, you know,
[53:27] Speaker 2: mistackles force plays. But when he's not fumbling the ball,
[53:32] Speaker 2: there's a reason they gave him that money. The problem
[53:35] Speaker 2: is it's been a little bit of an every other
[53:36] Speaker 2: year thing for Remondre, and yet I'm still betting on
[53:39] Speaker 2: that just twenty twenty five, Ormandri is going to return
[53:42] Speaker 2: for me.
[53:43] Speaker 3: And he can be prone to the fumbleis I think,
[53:45] Speaker 3: which is where the up and down yeas come. Is
[53:47] Speaker 3: he fulmost too much they throw him off the field.
[53:49] Speaker 3: But when he's on the field, I could agree with you. Well,
[53:51] Speaker 3: he has one of the most fun running styles I
[53:53] Speaker 3: think in the league. He's a a real like rumble
[53:55] Speaker 3: the way Henry is, where you just kind of can't
[53:57] Speaker 3: quite tell how quick he's going. He climbs to the
[53:59] Speaker 3: line is one stiff arm and then guys just bouncing
[54:02] Speaker 3: off him. And then for some one of that style which
[54:05] Speaker 3: like a between the tackles, powerful runner with some breakaway speed.
[54:09] Speaker 3: I think when he's on the perimeter to be one
[54:11] Speaker 3: of the best vertical threat running backs in the league.
[54:15] Speaker 3: Even just the figures are ahead of guys like Bijon,
[54:18] Speaker 3: like Jimmy Gibbs, the guys who are really electric. It
[54:20] Speaker 3: almost doesn't make much sense. But the wheel route stuff,
[54:23] Speaker 3: the seam route stuff. I mean, he is a remarkable
[54:25] Speaker 3: route runner, which I just don't think you would expect
[54:27] Speaker 3: in the profile. And part of why they drafted Henderson
[54:30] Speaker 3: was like, we want to get more juice in the
[54:31] Speaker 3: passing game out of the backfield, and they found it
[54:33] Speaker 3: more so in Stevenson.
[54:35] Speaker 2: So you say you're gonna go broke chasing the next
[54:37] Speaker 2: Derek Henry. I think you know, since he retired, all
[54:40] Speaker 2: I've been doing is just looking for the next Frank Gore.
[54:43] Speaker 2: That's my platonic ideal of a running back and Ramandri
[54:47] Speaker 2: is not that. But he is a great weapon in
[54:52] Speaker 2: the receiving game. He is a complete guy who can
[54:55] Speaker 2: turn a two into a four I think pretty reliably
[54:58] Speaker 2: inside like a small area. He's a complete guy. He
[55:02] Speaker 2: is not Frank or but he's the closest maybe I
[55:05] Speaker 2: can get at this.
[55:05] Speaker 1: Point in the draft.
[55:06] Speaker 2: So I love him, And that was the off season
[55:09] Speaker 2: ride along presented by Toyota because when people are the destination,
[55:13] Speaker 2: your ride is important. Learn more at Toyota dot com
[55:17] Speaker 2: and find the vehicle that fits your people.
[55:19] Speaker 3: All right, I'm going to take Javonte Williams from The Cowboys.
[55:23] Speaker 3: I love a rugged powerback. He is not dynamic. He's
[55:26] Speaker 3: a between the tackles. Thumbert and guys I think just
[55:29] Speaker 3: bounce off him and the legs keep churning. And there
[55:32] Speaker 3: are some I think explosive runs last season where you
[55:36] Speaker 3: do see him get to a second or third gear,
[55:38] Speaker 3: but he is in there. I think to just thump
[55:39] Speaker 3: it between the between the tackles. And I was really
[55:42] Speaker 3: impressed going back through his film and the past pro
[55:44] Speaker 3: stuff and is not easy stuff. It's a pretty sophisticated,
[55:48] Speaker 3: like maximalist pass pro scheme. They have everything available to
[55:51] Speaker 3: them at all times. Dak changes it constantly. It's just
[55:54] Speaker 3: a lot to try and sort through. And there are
[55:57] Speaker 3: a few guys who I mentioned before with Hampton stand
[56:00] Speaker 3: in the A gap and we kind of bust the
[56:01] Speaker 3: protections a defensive tackle on the back.
[56:04] Speaker 1: It's just not the way it's drawing up.
[56:05] Speaker 3: That happened to the Cowboys A bunch less season because
[56:07] Speaker 3: they were changing the line so much, they had so
[56:09] Speaker 3: much pre snapped communication, and the guy left the stand
[56:12] Speaker 3: up against these big bus was Javonte Williams, and no
[56:14] Speaker 3: one stoned those guys to the same degree he did.
[56:18] Speaker 2: Blind spot in my evaluation is the pass pro. You know,
[56:22] Speaker 2: I have a general feel who's good, who's bad this
[56:25] Speaker 2: or that. Ali's like I feel like a running back
[56:29] Speaker 2: pass protection maven obsessed. It's almost all you care about,
[56:33] Speaker 2: and so no that it's great context of like why
[56:37] Speaker 2: some of these guys would be higher. Next Gen has
[56:39] Speaker 2: a crazy stat which I had I wish I had
[56:41] Speaker 2: written down a little more in depth, but it's essentially
[56:44] Speaker 2: a way to measure efficiency, and Javonte Williams ranked number
[56:50] Speaker 2: one in the way that he ran for the fewest
[56:55] Speaker 2: yards to get the most amount of yards. So basically
[56:59] Speaker 2: like you were about as a straight ahead runner, and
[57:01] Speaker 2: I think these were on inside runs that like there
[57:04] Speaker 2: was the least amount of extra movement of like the
[57:08] Speaker 2: total amount of yards that he traveled on the football field,
[57:13] Speaker 2: it was that he had the highest percentage of actual yards.
[57:16] Speaker 3: That there's no shooting out the back dooral wiggling. It
[57:19] Speaker 3: is a straight direct line, throw you a head onto
[57:21] Speaker 3: the goalpost. If someone gets your way, you run through them.
[57:24] Speaker 3: There are a bunch of big runs which is just
[57:25] Speaker 3: him running through m tackles. Then you guys just tried
[57:28] Speaker 3: to reach out to him. They trying to get off
[57:29] Speaker 3: a blog. He's just really really tough to bring down.
[57:31] Speaker 3: And yeah, he is a getting the ball in the backfield.
[57:34] Speaker 3: We run through the A and B gap and throw
[57:36] Speaker 3: your nose onto the wall the back of the end
[57:38] Speaker 3: zone there and he just takes it and doesn't.
[57:40] Speaker 1: It's why running back is such a great position.
[57:43] Speaker 2: I always think Aboutmani Jones talking about when when we
[57:46] Speaker 2: were at the running backs don't matter peak of like,
[57:49] Speaker 2: you're not going to tell me that running backs aren't cool.
[57:51] Speaker 2: It's the coolest thing about football. And it is like
[57:54] Speaker 2: they all express themselves in different ways, and even if
[57:57] Speaker 2: financially they were like, it's still cool and there's so
[58:01] Speaker 2: many different styles. You're going to Devonte Williams nineteen, I'm
[58:04] Speaker 2: going Jalen Warren twenty.
[58:06] Speaker 1: They could not be any more different.
[58:08] Speaker 2: There's so many different ways to be effective in the NFL.
[58:11] Speaker 1: Warren and Ramandre.
[58:12] Speaker 2: Were the two guys that I was like I'll probably
[58:14] Speaker 2: end up having them in this draft because they're just
[58:16] Speaker 2: two of my favorites in different ways. Warren, you know,
[58:20] Speaker 2: the numbers do back it up, like he led the
[58:22] Speaker 2: entire NFL in percentage of runs where he made someone miss,
[58:26] Speaker 2: like in terms of a misstackle just happened, and you
[58:28] Speaker 2: always wanted to see him at least I did with
[58:30] Speaker 2: more volume, and he got that last year and he
[58:33] Speaker 2: still was just as effective. He's very good in the
[58:36] Speaker 2: receiving game. He was third in receiving yards over expected.
[58:40] Speaker 2: He's what you know, you would you would call in
[58:41] Speaker 2: the NBA like he's a bucket. You know he's and
[58:44] Speaker 2: Forerdy Simons bring him off the bench and he's just
[58:46] Speaker 2: gonna get twenty points for you in like fifteen minutes.
[58:49] Speaker 2: Not always gonna be amazing, but he's a bucket. He's
[58:53] Speaker 2: was one of the only reliable book at Ghettos for
[58:55] Speaker 2: the Steeloss last year. They tried to build all the
[58:57] Speaker 2: plane out of him, Ruggers and out the smith did together.
[59:00] Speaker 2: I think it's a grittier runner than that style of
[59:03] Speaker 2: player traditionally is. I think he is willing to kind
[59:05] Speaker 2: of do some of the dirty work between the tackles.
[59:07] Speaker 2: He also has some of the best highlights of the
[59:09] Speaker 2: season where if you remember, he let the charges defender
[59:12] Speaker 2: in the open field, I can't remember exactly who that was,
[59:15] Speaker 2: and then spend the next five weeks trying to replicate
[59:18] Speaker 2: the highlight moment, and yet it doesn't quite get the
[59:20] Speaker 2: elevation you would expect to pull off the saquon and
[59:23] Speaker 2: just throws his nutsack into the chest of Tyrek Stevenson
[59:26] Speaker 2: DJ Turner. Week after week, it's like, we get a jail,
[59:28] Speaker 2: and you did it once.
[59:29] Speaker 3: It was cool. Let's put that on the shelf. Let's
[59:31] Speaker 3: get back to running the ball.
[59:33] Speaker 2: He absolutely runs like a guy who is thinking about
[59:37] Speaker 2: the film room session where he can just.
[59:38] Speaker 1: Be like, I see that.
[59:40] Speaker 3: I think in his head he's thinking about the podium
[59:42] Speaker 3: from NFL Films when he comes out to the Hall
[59:44] Speaker 3: of Fame, and it's all this leaping and spinning.
[59:47] Speaker 1: I love that love, I.
[59:49] Speaker 2: Love the confidence, and it really has worked. He's had
[59:52] Speaker 2: kind of an incredible career arc for where he was
[59:55] Speaker 2: drafted and just the way that they've used him. And yeah,
[59:57] Speaker 2: he's not I don't think he should be a guy
[1:00:00] Speaker 2: that has three hundred and fifty touches, but we're getting
[1:00:02] Speaker 2: into the part of the draft where it can be
[1:00:04] Speaker 2: guys who are sharing things, and especially his value on
[1:00:07] Speaker 2: passing downs. I'd loved him here, all right, let's take
[1:00:10] Speaker 2: one more break. It's funny we both had similar notes
[1:00:12] Speaker 2: about like how there's a little bit of a cliff
[1:00:14] Speaker 2: at some point, at least on my list. We haven't
[1:00:16] Speaker 2: gotten there quite yet, but we are close. I'm curious
[1:00:19] Speaker 2: who are the final twelve running backs in this film?
[1:00:34] Speaker 2: Back on NFL Daily, wrapping up the week exactly how
[1:00:39] Speaker 2: i'd want to talking running backs, talking about like no
[1:00:44] Speaker 2: part time running backs, who can step up? We're up
[1:00:46] Speaker 2: to number twenty one on the list.
[1:00:48] Speaker 1: Ali, who do you got?
[1:00:50] Speaker 3: I'm gonna take Quinshaw and Judkins from the Browns. I
[1:00:53] Speaker 3: know that he's returning from a pretty bad injury. It's
[1:00:56] Speaker 3: the same injuries KM scataboo. I guess I just don't
[1:00:59] Speaker 3: think the metrics do justice to what his rookie season was.
[1:01:03] Speaker 3: I think we've spoken before about just the degree of
[1:01:06] Speaker 3: violence that he runs with you just don't normally see
[1:01:08] Speaker 3: out of rookie running backs. And if he was healthy,
[1:01:15] Speaker 3: would you have taken him over Marin Hampton or do
[1:01:18] Speaker 3: you just like the juicy upside with Hampton?
[1:01:21] Speaker 2: No, I think I would take Judkins. Yeah, I said
[1:01:24] Speaker 2: I had two more guys before. It just got to
[1:01:27] Speaker 2: a group of players that I like in different ways
[1:01:29] Speaker 2: but could almost go into every any order in Judkins
[1:01:32] Speaker 2: is one of those two and the ultimate like you
[1:01:35] Speaker 2: got to trust your eyes and not some of the numbers.
[1:01:38] Speaker 1: Guy last year was Judkins.
[1:01:39] Speaker 2: The numbers weren't terrible, but some of the next gen
[1:01:41] Speaker 2: stuff isn't isn't great, But just he looks special to me,
[1:01:45] Speaker 2: Like I would just just off what I saw, Like
[1:01:48] Speaker 2: I liked him better than Gent, I liked him better
[1:01:50] Speaker 2: than Trevon Henderson.
[1:01:51] Speaker 1: I liked him better than.
[1:01:52] Speaker 3: Hampton and another player who's excellent in pass pro if
[1:01:55] Speaker 3: he can get onto the field to be on those
[1:01:56] Speaker 3: passing downs. So if he just played with a passive
[1:02:00] Speaker 3: offensive line, I think he would have had a completely
[1:02:02] Speaker 3: monstrous rookie season.
[1:02:03] Speaker 1: Unfortunately he did not Yea.
[1:02:05] Speaker 2: And in the end he actually got hit behind the
[1:02:07] Speaker 2: line of scrimmage more than genty Like it was it
[1:02:09] Speaker 2: was that bad. Like as bad as the numbers were
[1:02:11] Speaker 2: for Gent, Juggins ended up passing him in terms of
[1:02:13] Speaker 2: just like a brutal condition, and I like that he's
[1:02:17] Speaker 2: out there at ota Is there's some optimism that he
[1:02:19] Speaker 2: could be ready for the start of the season. That
[1:02:21] Speaker 2: was a really serious injury, and yet we're just talking
[1:02:23] Speaker 2: about twenty twenty six and that knocked him down.
[1:02:25] Speaker 1: But I'm glad you provided that context.
[1:02:27] Speaker 2: All Right, my other guy in this tier before I
[1:02:30] Speaker 2: get to just kind of like the hey, why not,
[1:02:33] Speaker 2: Tony Pollard's just underrated. I can't let him be disrespected anymore.
[1:02:38] Speaker 2: He has twelve hundred and fifty between twelve hundred and
[1:02:40] Speaker 2: fifty and fourteen yards fourteen hundred yards from scrimmage for
[1:02:43] Speaker 2: four straight seasons. So he's been very consistent in terms
[1:02:46] Speaker 2: of the production. I think he in Tennessee has developed
[1:02:51] Speaker 2: into just the ultimate like professional. He runs so damn hard.
[1:02:56] Speaker 2: He is tougher than he was when he entered the league.
[1:03:00] Speaker 2: I want to give him credit for kind of building
[1:03:02] Speaker 2: that armor up. It is a brutal position, and I
[1:03:05] Speaker 2: think last year his inside running and there's a lot
[1:03:08] Speaker 2: like it was really good like and it wasn't always
[1:03:12] Speaker 2: the right like chance and you just you just knew
[1:03:14] Speaker 2: what you were getting. He's obviously a guy that can
[1:03:17] Speaker 2: make a big play and make people miss in the
[1:03:18] Speaker 2: receiving game, and he did some of that.
[1:03:20] Speaker 1: Maybe he's slowed down.
[1:03:22] Speaker 2: Like the slightest bit, but just a really good back
[1:03:26] Speaker 2: who who's been asked to do too much on a
[1:03:28] Speaker 2: terrible offense.
[1:03:29] Speaker 1: But I don't want to punish him too much for that.
[1:03:31] Speaker 3: And even if he has slowed down slightly, I think
[1:03:33] Speaker 3: he's become more scheme independent to make up for that.
[1:03:36] Speaker 3: So the the you know, it's the first time in
[1:03:39] Speaker 3: his career radio last season he's been a kind of
[1:03:41] Speaker 3: undecenter between the tackles thumper and played really really well,
[1:03:46] Speaker 3: and he kind of is the pivot mark of like
[1:03:48] Speaker 3: we think we could do slightly Beta, but it's kind
[1:03:51] Speaker 3: of a reach to try and do bets like do
[1:03:52] Speaker 3: we draft Jeremiah love They had that on the on
[1:03:54] Speaker 3: the table, potentially they could have moved up for Jeremiah Lovell, whatever,
[1:03:58] Speaker 3: but it's like, if you have Tony Poulch, you just
[1:04:00] Speaker 3: feel comfortable.
[1:04:01] Speaker 1: It's like we'll address that down the line.
[1:04:02] Speaker 3: We have Tony Pollard, and I think for this season
[1:04:04] Speaker 3: in particular, it's a really nice fit with Brian Dable.
[1:04:07] Speaker 3: I still do love Tony Polld as a run from
[1:04:09] Speaker 3: the gun guy, tons of vision to be able to
[1:04:11] Speaker 3: see what's going on, make someone missed the first level
[1:04:13] Speaker 3: and then rocket out of there. But he did prove
[1:04:15] Speaker 3: last year he can be I think, just a more
[1:04:17] Speaker 3: dependable between the tackles guy.
[1:04:19] Speaker 2: I just have guys with career arcs where they improve,
[1:04:22] Speaker 2: they change, And that's part of my affection for him
[1:04:25] Speaker 2: because if you had told me is his first year
[1:04:27] Speaker 2: or two that he kind of developed into this kind
[1:04:29] Speaker 2: of runner, and just just so many times watching their
[1:04:32] Speaker 2: games and just taking that out. Just man, he's tough
[1:04:35] Speaker 2: as hell and he was not that guy, and he
[1:04:37] Speaker 2: kind of became that guy throughout his career. So it
[1:04:40] Speaker 2: ended up being a good signing, one of the few
[1:04:42] Speaker 2: that the Titans have the agency over the last few years.
[1:04:45] Speaker 2: This is where the draft really starts getting interesting. To me,
[1:04:48] Speaker 2: who do you got at twenty three?
[1:04:49] Speaker 3: I'm going to take Booky you having I understand there's
[1:04:53] Speaker 3: the injuries, there's a shoulders, the foot, there's off season surgery.
[1:04:57] Speaker 3: When he played last season was not as productive, but
[1:05:01] Speaker 3: his year with Liam Cohen, he looked like one of
[1:05:03] Speaker 3: the most electric backs NOLA football and so I think
[1:05:06] Speaker 3: that player is still in there. Maybe it's just being
[1:05:08] Speaker 3: knocked out of him really quickly by I think there's
[1:05:10] Speaker 3: a potential for a bounce back to at least be
[1:05:12] Speaker 3: that kind of home run hitting threat. And on this list,
[1:05:16] Speaker 3: if you told me who would leap to like ten
[1:05:19] Speaker 3: and just reminded you, oh, it was a down year
[1:05:21] Speaker 3: and it was circumstances. The offense wasn't designed very well,
[1:05:23] Speaker 3: that was injury concerns. I think book you have will
[1:05:26] Speaker 3: be one of those guys.
[1:05:27] Speaker 2: Well, you said you like the artistic type runners. I
[1:05:31] Speaker 2: mean Bucky Irving's like he's Picasso out here. I mean
[1:05:34] Speaker 2: he is like all art, no like logic sometimes and
[1:05:39] Speaker 2: I think you can end up with some rough seasons,
[1:05:42] Speaker 2: maybe like last season, and that was partly an injury.
[1:05:44] Speaker 2: He is a smaller player, but there's no one quite
[1:05:46] Speaker 2: like Bucky Irvings.
[1:05:47] Speaker 1: So I get it. I get it. I'm struggling here.
[1:05:53] Speaker 2: Like there's the veteran guys so you know what you're getting,
[1:05:57] Speaker 2: and then there's the guys that make you feel something.
[1:06:00] Speaker 2: Baseial Tuton is that guy for me at twenty four.
[1:06:02] Speaker 2: I don't care. He's got the juice, he's got the juice.
[1:06:07] Speaker 2: His stats last year were crazy. I don't know what
[1:06:10] Speaker 2: actually I'm going to ask you what you think this
[1:06:12] Speaker 2: stat means because it's not reflected in Etchians numbers, But
[1:06:18] Speaker 2: running behind that Jaguars offensive line, Tuton had almost exclusively
[1:06:23] Speaker 2: had yards after contact. There was three hundred and one
[1:06:26] Speaker 2: of his three hundred and seven yards were after contact,
[1:06:28] Speaker 2: by far the.
[1:06:29] Speaker 1: Highest rate of anyone in the league.
[1:06:32] Speaker 2: He still had like a high success rate and like
[1:06:35] Speaker 2: made people miss a lot of missed tackles. I don't
[1:06:38] Speaker 2: know what that means about him, but to me, he
[1:06:40] Speaker 2: does pass that eye test, and I think he can
[1:06:43] Speaker 2: do a lot more.
[1:06:44] Speaker 1: I think the Jaguars thinks it too. I think he
[1:06:46] Speaker 1: can do a lot more.
[1:06:47] Speaker 3: If you pull up like the ten Bess runs the season,
[1:06:49] Speaker 3: it's the most like exciting moment you've been had in
[1:06:52] Speaker 3: your life.
[1:06:53] Speaker 1: Thank you.
[1:06:54] Speaker 3: I do think that he is really boom bust. He
[1:06:56] Speaker 3: outruns is the mechanics and like the blocking assignments is,
[1:07:00] Speaker 3: which is any young back.
[1:07:01] Speaker 1: In the league.
[1:07:01] Speaker 3: I think he really tries to be to invent it
[1:07:03] Speaker 3: for his own good and thinks he's playing on Saturdays.
[1:07:05] Speaker 1: Again.
[1:07:05] Speaker 3: He's by far the best athlete on the field. He's
[1:07:08] Speaker 3: a pretty damn good athlete, and he can get away
[1:07:10] Speaker 3: with it more than the most people can. Sa. I
[1:07:14] Speaker 3: go back and forth with him where I really do
[1:07:16] Speaker 3: see the sizzle, I see the flashes. Maybe I'll look
[1:07:19] Speaker 3: like a buffood in a couple of years where he's
[1:07:21] Speaker 3: one of the ten best guys in the league and
[1:07:22] Speaker 3: he's having like an.
[1:07:23] Speaker 1: Eighth chan type output.
[1:07:25] Speaker 3: But the guys who overrun stuff, it's hard for them
[1:07:29] Speaker 3: to kind of tempo down.
[1:07:31] Speaker 2: Yes, and see in my mind I'm looking at him,
[1:07:34] Speaker 2: I'm just like he would rank really high in the
[1:07:36] Speaker 2: run hard rankings, which is a skill. I think running
[1:07:39] Speaker 2: hard is a skill. You kind of need that out
[1:07:41] Speaker 2: of a young running back, Like he better be running hard.
[1:07:44] Speaker 2: But he's really running hard. A lot of juice there.
[1:07:47] Speaker 2: So we'll see if this pick ends up ridiculous because
[1:07:50] Speaker 2: it went over some much more trustworthy veterans but decided
[1:07:54] Speaker 2: to take him off the board.
[1:07:54] Speaker 1: Who you got at twenty five?
[1:07:56] Speaker 3: Well, but it's going with a hat. I'm just gonna
[1:07:57] Speaker 3: throw my list down and take kalamanungay I a dog
[1:08:01] Speaker 3: Isle manung Guy Me and missus Mnunguy then two biggest
[1:08:05] Speaker 3: fans of Kyle's game downhill, powerful runner, moves the pile
[1:08:09] Speaker 3: unbelievably small, and pass broke just as good as you'll
[1:08:13] Speaker 3: ever see a rookie step ins league understanding why he's
[1:08:15] Speaker 3: supposed to be with some pretty tricky assignments. So I
[1:08:18] Speaker 3: think that will get him more and more time on
[1:08:20] Speaker 3: the field. And if you just watch the Bengals game,
[1:08:23] Speaker 3: he does have more juice. And I think the reputation
[1:08:26] Speaker 3: is giving Frand fall, which is oh, he's the seventh
[1:08:27] Speaker 3: round guy. He came in, he played between the tackles,
[1:08:30] Speaker 3: then Swift was on the field.
[1:08:31] Speaker 1: He gives them a little bit more acceleration off the snap.
[1:08:33] Speaker 3: I think mynung guy's got some second level juice that
[1:08:36] Speaker 3: if he can get some more playing.
[1:08:37] Speaker 1: Time, we'll be able to see some more of Yeah,
[1:08:39] Speaker 1: he was in my top thirty two.
[1:08:42] Speaker 2: When he like he got to the line of scrimmage
[1:08:45] Speaker 2: very quickly, I believe, or when when he got to
[1:08:48] Speaker 2: the line of scrimmage, his his miles per hour were
[1:08:50] Speaker 2: somehow top five in the league.
[1:08:52] Speaker 3: So that that kind of talking about running hot that
[1:08:54] Speaker 3: he speaks.
[1:08:55] Speaker 2: To what you were talking about that one game where
[1:08:57] Speaker 2: Swift was gone, or maybe it wasn't just one. But
[1:08:59] Speaker 2: he had that game again the Bengals where you know,
[1:09:01] Speaker 2: he showed he could kind of be a primary back.
[1:09:03] Speaker 2: Granted it was against the Bengals, but he had one
[1:09:04] Speaker 2: hundred and seventy six year. It's not going to make
[1:09:06] Speaker 2: you miss the open field, is it? Is it rude
[1:09:08] Speaker 2: to not have taken Swift? Should we just take Swift?
[1:09:10] Speaker 2: Back to back here? I think this is where I
[1:09:13] Speaker 2: had I actually had him slightly higher, and then I
[1:09:15] Speaker 2: just started picking like my beloveds, as you would say,
[1:09:18] Speaker 2: because Swift's never been my type of guy. And yet
[1:09:21] Speaker 2: the argument for him is Ben Johnson backs him. I
[1:09:24] Speaker 2: mean he had him in two spots. They didn't kick
[1:09:26] Speaker 2: him off the team last year. He ends up having
[1:09:30] Speaker 2: outrageous numbers. Last year he has the best numbers of
[1:09:33] Speaker 2: anyone left like cumulatively, but also per snap he had
[1:09:36] Speaker 2: the second highest success rate of any running back outside
[1:09:40] Speaker 2: the tackles. You know, he's right at the top of
[1:09:43] Speaker 2: the league in terms of, you know, yards before he
[1:09:46] Speaker 2: gets contacted because he's not going to break a lot
[1:09:48] Speaker 2: of contact and that's the scheme and that's the system.
[1:09:50] Speaker 2: But he's also a guy who fits that type of
[1:09:53] Speaker 2: system well because of the juice he had, and I
[1:09:56] Speaker 2: think he was more consistent last year than he's ever been,
[1:10:00] Speaker 2: and I think that has been a slight just improvement
[1:10:02] Speaker 2: the last two seasons really where you can now kind
[1:10:05] Speaker 2: of convince yourself, Okay, he's settling in, maybe not like
[1:10:08] Speaker 2: Tony Pollard exactly, but kind of settling into a more
[1:10:11] Speaker 2: predictable portion of his career.
[1:10:13] Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree with that.
[1:10:14] Speaker 3: I had him hire on my list, and I recognize
[1:10:16] Speaker 3: he's more talented than Kalamanunga. I just preferred kalaman UNGA's
[1:10:19] Speaker 3: style in his overall impact on the game. I've aughty
[1:10:22] Speaker 3: swift last year. What really stood out was he was
[1:10:24] Speaker 3: just less densey. Even with the Lions, he would really
[1:10:27] Speaker 3: dance behind the line of screamers trying to find the
[1:10:29] Speaker 3: perfect opening. I just thought you ran with way more intent,
[1:10:31] Speaker 3: way more downhill burst last season, playing behind the really
[1:10:35] Speaker 3: good line and a really good interior. And so I
[1:10:38] Speaker 3: don't see any reason why that would drop off.
[1:10:40] Speaker 2: I think the drafts could have gone differently for them,
[1:10:42] Speaker 2: and then they would have possibly like replaced him last
[1:10:44] Speaker 2: year this year, but he had a big salary, and
[1:10:48] Speaker 2: you know it didn't happen in the draft last year,
[1:10:49] Speaker 2: and then they decided to keep him, and you know,
[1:10:50] Speaker 2: he's still paid pretty high, and it's like like, actually, no,
[1:10:53] Speaker 2: kind of like you were mentioning with Pollard, They're like,
[1:10:55] Speaker 2: we don't need to replace DeAndre Swift. Like we can
[1:10:58] Speaker 2: have one of the best offenses in the league with
[1:11:00] Speaker 2: DeAndre Swift as our leading rusher. So I think that
[1:11:03] Speaker 2: that that is worth something.
[1:11:04] Speaker 1: All right, next up for you till stage of the draft,
[1:11:08] Speaker 1: do I do it? Well?
[1:11:10] Speaker 2: Now, it's more like I just want to make sure
[1:11:11] Speaker 2: some of these guys get drafted, and I think there's
[1:11:13] Speaker 2: too many of my guys left, so it's going to
[1:11:15] Speaker 2: be painful who gets left off.
[1:11:22] Speaker 3: I'll take Juderium Price the Seahawks. He's gonna be the
[1:11:27] Speaker 3: lead ball carrier for them this season. I liked parts
[1:11:30] Speaker 3: of his film in college. He's not wasn't in every
[1:11:34] Speaker 3: down player in college, but I do think he's got
[1:11:36] Speaker 3: the juice to be a difference maker from the get go.
[1:11:38] Speaker 3: And so if you think back to last year's rookie classes, saying, okay,
[1:11:43] Speaker 3: I just see special stuff without some of the rookies,
[1:11:46] Speaker 3: quinch On Jokins, we mentioned it just looks different. It
[1:11:48] Speaker 3: looks a little bit special. I think Jerien Price could
[1:11:51] Speaker 3: have those those flashes as a rookie.
[1:11:53] Speaker 2: That that totally makes sense to me. He's a more
[1:11:56] Speaker 2: higher ceiling guy. Like, none of the veterans that I
[1:11:59] Speaker 2: have left are are like that. They're more just guys
[1:12:02] Speaker 2: I want to, for the most part, give give some
[1:12:04] Speaker 2: love to. Like the total opposite is actually who I'm
[1:12:07] Speaker 2: gonna take next is Jordan Mason.
[1:12:09] Speaker 1: Jordan Mason's underrated.
[1:12:10] Speaker 2: You know, sometimes you need a back that you need
[1:12:14] Speaker 2: four yards and you block like three and a half.
[1:12:17] Speaker 1: He's got to get you four and a half, you know.
[1:12:18] Speaker 2: And he always ranks really high and mistackles force was
[1:12:22] Speaker 2: third in the league last year, like in terms of
[1:12:25] Speaker 2: per per snap.
[1:12:26] Speaker 1: To me, he's underrated.
[1:12:28] Speaker 2: I like that they used him a little more as
[1:12:29] Speaker 2: a receiver. There was I didn't see any particular reason
[1:12:32] Speaker 2: why that couldn't be the caseless unless you tell me
[1:12:34] Speaker 2: he's horrible up blocking and he was better, And I
[1:12:36] Speaker 2: like that there was kind of a one to one
[1:12:38] Speaker 2: comparison with him and Aaron Jones and Eyeball Tests and
[1:12:41] Speaker 2: watching it. As much as I love Aaron Jones, I
[1:12:43] Speaker 2: actually think like that the numbers indicate Jordan Mason was
[1:12:47] Speaker 2: the better option compared to him a year ago.
[1:12:49] Speaker 1: And to me, he's just.
[1:12:50] Speaker 2: Kind of like a perfect respectable back to have on
[1:12:55] Speaker 2: your team.
[1:12:56] Speaker 3: He is perfectly respectable. I think it's a good pick.
[1:12:59] Speaker 3: I know, the rugged runner. I do like the rugged runners.
[1:13:02] Speaker 3: He's I think more limited than some of the other
[1:13:04] Speaker 3: backs you mentioned some of the past person of even
[1:13:06] Speaker 3: the specific runs they use him on. It's like it's
[1:13:09] Speaker 3: we're just gonna use these six that's where we think
[1:13:11] Speaker 3: you're best. But his underlying metrics are always outstanding. So
[1:13:15] Speaker 3: I think I don't see any reason why that would decline.
[1:13:17] Speaker 1: That's a nice way of saying you wouldn't have taken him.
[1:13:19] Speaker 1: All Right, you're up.
[1:13:20] Speaker 3: Next, let's go with I'll take David Montgomery.
[1:13:26] Speaker 1: Yes, please. I don't want him to not get drafted.
[1:13:30] Speaker 3: I am a little bit worried about a twenty nine
[1:13:32] Speaker 3: year old who's absorbed that much punishment. He's changing teams
[1:13:36] Speaker 3: to a team he's probably gonna absorb even more punishment
[1:13:39] Speaker 3: than he's dealt with before. But I just think back
[1:13:41] Speaker 3: to the night against the Ravens when Jamie Gibbs was
[1:13:44] Speaker 3: out and he still showed to me that that was
[1:13:46] Speaker 3: a starting caliber, heavy touch type back.
[1:13:48] Speaker 1: You can impact the.
[1:13:49] Speaker 3: Game in multiple ways, and so I don't think he's
[1:13:52] Speaker 3: even the most talented back on the Texans roster, but
[1:13:56] Speaker 3: he is.
[1:13:56] Speaker 1: As you say, you know what.
[1:13:58] Speaker 2: You're getting a little what Arks loves I was thinking
[1:14:01] Speaker 2: is what he Mark's gonna slide into the thirty two,
[1:14:04] Speaker 2: we'll see. I wanted to make sure Montgomer get drafted too,
[1:14:07] Speaker 2: and he is someone I went back to watch some
[1:14:09] Speaker 2: and you know what, Like the numbers aren't incredible. His
[1:14:13] Speaker 2: metrics are just close to average basically in everything, which
[1:14:16] Speaker 2: which makes sense. But I don't think you can really
[1:14:20] Speaker 2: evaluate what he adds to the team. First of all, he's,
[1:14:23] Speaker 2: as far as I can tell, like he's great in
[1:14:25] Speaker 2: pass pro. He is a versatile back, the ruggedness that
[1:14:27] Speaker 2: he plays with, and I thought last year when I
[1:14:29] Speaker 2: went back looking for a lack of juice, I was like, no,
[1:14:32] Speaker 2: I think he still has a pretty good amount of juice.
[1:14:34] Speaker 2: And so I get why the Texans wanted him, at
[1:14:37] Speaker 2: least for the low price. Essentially that they got him,
[1:14:39] Speaker 2: so he's going to carry out all your assignments. I
[1:14:41] Speaker 2: feel good about that. I want to go now with
[1:14:44] Speaker 2: someone a little higher ceiling. Let's go to the guy
[1:14:46] Speaker 2: that the Rams you know, trusted and leaned on a
[1:14:52] Speaker 2: little bit in the NFC Championship game when they needed
[1:14:54] Speaker 2: a little extra juice. I mean Blake Koram in terms
[1:14:57] Speaker 2: of success rate, in terms of the high rate of
[1:15:00] Speaker 2: explosives per run was quite high. And uh, look when
[1:15:07] Speaker 2: the Chips were down and they needed to try to
[1:15:09] Speaker 2: get to the super Bowl, them trusting him as much
[1:15:12] Speaker 2: as they did and him delivering mattered a lot to me.
[1:15:16] Speaker 2: And so Korm was one I wanted to just kind
[1:15:18] Speaker 2: of make sure sneaks into the end of this draft
[1:15:20] Speaker 2: because I think he's going to get better and better.
[1:15:22] Speaker 2: Like the total touches are going to be limited because
[1:15:24] Speaker 2: of Kiren, but I do think they know how to
[1:15:26] Speaker 2: spot him. They have a type Ali and they know
[1:15:29] Speaker 2: how to find them.
[1:15:30] Speaker 3: They do small, but stout and tough to tackle, I
[1:15:33] Speaker 3: think is the type, and they use them in different
[1:15:35] Speaker 3: ways where Karen is a little bit more balanced. I
[1:15:37] Speaker 3: would saban Zim's the design of runs. They really do
[1:15:40] Speaker 3: use Blake korm as more of the throwback show McVay offense.
[1:15:43] Speaker 3: All the wide zone stuff is where they bring him in.
[1:15:46] Speaker 3: That is a three read type situation for a back,
[1:15:49] Speaker 3: and I've been through the Rams offense last season. I
[1:15:51] Speaker 3: found one misread all season for a back in Blake Korme.
[1:15:54] Speaker 3: That is just so impossible to do. So I think
[1:15:57] Speaker 3: the smalts the next level. He's really shifty once you
[1:15:59] Speaker 3: get climbs into the line of scrimmage and guys can't
[1:16:01] Speaker 3: really see him and he just kind of can hesitate
[1:16:04] Speaker 3: in the hole and then fire out with their Ha's
[1:16:06] Speaker 3: got the second gear in the third gear, as you mentioned,
[1:16:08] Speaker 3: so I would not be at all surprised if, as
[1:16:12] Speaker 3: much as I like Keryn Williams, that they would start having.
[1:16:14] Speaker 1: More of a share of the carries.
[1:16:16] Speaker 2: There's so many backs I want to get drafted and
[1:16:19] Speaker 2: what we'll give a little quick honorable mention, but there's
[1:16:21] Speaker 2: really two that I just I just wanted to give
[1:16:24] Speaker 2: them the honor and there's only two spots left. Will
[1:16:26] Speaker 2: Allie take one of my two backs. I'm rooting for
[1:16:28] Speaker 2: you to do so so that they make the list.
[1:16:30] Speaker 2: We'll find out.
[1:16:31] Speaker 1: I know there's so many backs I want to take,
[1:16:33] Speaker 1: but I had.
[1:16:34] Speaker 3: A lukewarm getting towards hop take, which is I'm going
[1:16:41] Speaker 3: to take Chris Rodriguez from the Jacks.
[1:16:43] Speaker 1: Wow, that's fun.
[1:16:45] Speaker 3: I think the interest from that staff is real in
[1:16:48] Speaker 3: him having a ton more carries than anyone expects. He
[1:16:51] Speaker 3: was actually with Liam Cohen when he was first the
[1:16:54] Speaker 3: Kentucky oc He is a doubles and single downhill grinding thumber.
[1:16:59] Speaker 3: We just into a bacial twoton. That's more of the artists.
[1:17:02] Speaker 3: He's a little bit out the Rodriguez is you know,
[1:17:06] Speaker 3: meat and potatoes. We know what's happening. I've spent all
[1:17:09] Speaker 3: night designing this stuff. Let's just get the ball downhill.
[1:17:11] Speaker 3: And so I think Rodriguez, who got real money from
[1:17:14] Speaker 3: the Jags, I think is going to be an actual
[1:17:15] Speaker 3: feature pot that game. And if you go back through
[1:17:18] Speaker 3: the Commander's film, it's really really impressive. So I can
[1:17:21] Speaker 3: see why they were so interested in bringing him over.
[1:17:24] Speaker 2: He is someone and they they love analytics at the Jaguars.
[1:17:28] Speaker 2: I'm not surprised if some of their numbers for him
[1:17:31] Speaker 2: turned back really excellent, because he is someone with the
[1:17:34] Speaker 2: next gen numbers, whether it's rush yards, you know, per carry,
[1:17:38] Speaker 2: whether it's success ray just like a relatively complete back
[1:17:42] Speaker 2: who excelled in a lot of different numbers, and so
[1:17:45] Speaker 2: actually it does make sense that he goes here. So
[1:17:50] Speaker 2: I have two like third downish, E have a lot
[1:17:53] Speaker 2: of third down backs. The two that I wanted to
[1:17:56] Speaker 2: get taken here were Rashad White and Kenny Gainwell.
[1:17:59] Speaker 1: I just feel like Areth underrated.
[1:18:01] Speaker 2: I'm going to give the team MVP Kenny Gainwell the
[1:18:04] Speaker 2: honor of being our thirty second runner. I mean, there's
[1:18:07] Speaker 2: only so many guys this late in the draft who
[1:18:11] Speaker 2: was literally named team MVP on a team with many
[1:18:16] Speaker 2: future Hall of famers, including a four time MVP and
[1:18:20] Speaker 2: a former Defensive Player of the Year.
[1:18:21] Speaker 1: And yet who was the MVP of the team last year?
[1:18:24] Speaker 1: It was Kenny Gainwell.
[1:18:25] Speaker 2: There's only so many guys who was the primary ball
[1:18:28] Speaker 2: carrier on an offense that scored over thirty points against
[1:18:31] Speaker 2: the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, Like that's worth something.
[1:18:34] Speaker 2: They were county on Kenny Gainwell in that game too,
[1:18:37] Speaker 2: And he's a little better athletically. I think that people
[1:18:41] Speaker 2: realize he actually had the fastest speed when he reached
[1:18:43] Speaker 2: the line of scrimmage of any player in the NFL
[1:18:46] Speaker 2: last season, so decisive, he had the most targets, because
[1:18:50] Speaker 2: that's all, Aaron Rodgers knew how to do just a
[1:18:53] Speaker 2: damn good player. No matter how good you think he is,
[1:18:55] Speaker 2: he's always even like a little bit better, and he
[1:18:57] Speaker 2: keeps getting better, and so he's someone I just kind
[1:18:59] Speaker 2: of wanted to have some flowers too.
[1:19:00] Speaker 1: At number thirty two.
[1:19:02] Speaker 3: He is a damn good play. He probably should have
[1:19:03] Speaker 3: gone higher than this. Honestly, I took a swing on
[1:19:06] Speaker 3: Jindarium price. I think you should comfully be above that
[1:19:09] Speaker 3: might consume for him in terms of projection into twenty
[1:19:12] Speaker 3: twenty six. Is a lot of this production last season
[1:19:15] Speaker 3: was in the passing game. And then he says, Aaron Rodgers,
[1:19:17] Speaker 3: I don't want to get hit. What's the release falve,
[1:19:19] Speaker 3: Let's get the Bolt Kenny game. Well, Baker Mayfield don't
[1:19:22] Speaker 3: play that game. Bake Mayfield will stand in And so
[1:19:25] Speaker 3: will you limit some kind of the receiving chops?
[1:19:27] Speaker 2: Yeah, in his yards from scrimmage. In general, I thought
[1:19:31] Speaker 2: it'd be nice to have some players like this who
[1:19:33] Speaker 2: are role players. I mean, that's an important part of
[1:19:36] Speaker 2: being a running back. If he goes back to Hey,
[1:19:39] Speaker 2: he's a six to eight hundred yards from scrimmage type
[1:19:42] Speaker 2: of player. He to me is one of the best
[1:19:44] Speaker 2: and most valuable in that role. Who are some other
[1:19:47] Speaker 2: role player type backs? Light like a Rasad White who
[1:19:50] Speaker 2: didn't make the list for you that you want to
[1:19:52] Speaker 2: give some love to.
[1:19:53] Speaker 3: Role player Kimani Vidal is a protecting back outstanding. Who
[1:19:58] Speaker 3: else didn't make my list?
[1:20:00] Speaker 1: Role player?
[1:20:00] Speaker 3: Is the one that hurts me the most is JK.
[1:20:05] Speaker 1: Dobbins.
[1:20:07] Speaker 3: How well he ran through the first ten weeks this
[1:20:10] Speaker 3: season and then another injury and seeing was Zach Shalbine.
[1:20:12] Speaker 3: I really wanted to get them on, but just the
[1:20:14] Speaker 3: the injury concerns I think helped me back from taking them.
[1:20:17] Speaker 2: Yeah, Tyler Alzier is a guy who's always high and
[1:20:20] Speaker 2: breaking tackle. Just a big, tough guy. You kind of
[1:20:22] Speaker 2: know what you're getting. Rashad White I had, for whatever reason,
[1:20:26] Speaker 2: much higher on my actual rankings and then he didn't
[1:20:28] Speaker 2: get ranked. I mean he he is a you know,
[1:20:32] Speaker 2: converted receiver who's you know, a running back who's actually
[1:20:35] Speaker 2: good at receiving, who's excellent at blocking, and literally led
[1:20:41] Speaker 2: the NFL in success rate for runners that had over
[1:20:44] Speaker 2: eighty carries last year. And you are comparing him to
[1:20:48] Speaker 2: Bucky Irving and even Sean Tucker and like his numbers
[1:20:51] Speaker 2: per Carrie, per everything were much better last year, so
[1:20:54] Speaker 2: I think he had the best season of his career.
[1:20:55] Speaker 2: He timed it well going into free agency.
[1:20:57] Speaker 1: He is an.
[1:20:58] Speaker 2: Asset like push, comes to shove, like Tim or Gainwell,
[1:21:03] Speaker 2: like I don't know if it was my team who
[1:21:05] Speaker 2: I really take. I just wanted to give gain Well
[1:21:07] Speaker 2: some love because I have affection to him. But Rashad
[1:21:08] Speaker 2: White is absolutely valuable NFL player. I think he's a
[1:21:11] Speaker 2: good indication of how running back salaries have gone up
[1:21:13] Speaker 2: a little bit where now you're actually paying these role
[1:21:16] Speaker 2: players like reasonable salaries as they should get.
[1:21:18] Speaker 1: Because I think he's a good one.
[1:21:20] Speaker 3: The other guys I would mention you probably we may
[1:21:22] Speaker 3: feel dumb leaving off the list. A projected lift was
[1:21:26] Speaker 3: one would be r. J. Harvey with the Broncos. His
[1:21:29] Speaker 3: tape I thought was really really poll last season. It's
[1:21:32] Speaker 3: a guy I really like coming out of the draft,
[1:21:34] Speaker 3: and you can see I think in them drafting Joan
[1:21:36] Speaker 3: of Coleman trying to bring more insurance policies in to
[1:21:38] Speaker 3: the building that they went through and like this is
[1:21:40] Speaker 3: pretty brutal, but he still has legit speed and is
[1:21:44] Speaker 3: a really good primitive runners. So if they can maybe
[1:21:47] Speaker 3: rewoke the offense slightly, I think he could have a
[1:21:49] Speaker 3: big breakout. That'd be one Woody Max would be another one.
[1:21:52] Speaker 3: I just I buy into Woody Marks more than I
[1:21:54] Speaker 3: think the most. I understand why they brought Montgomery and
[1:21:57] Speaker 3: they wanted some more reliability, but I just think Marks
[1:22:00] Speaker 3: explosive play potential that should see him on the field ball.
[1:22:03] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[1:22:03] Speaker 2: On my actual list, Dobbins was thirty three. Marks was
[1:22:08] Speaker 2: thirty four, and uh yeah, you know, for all the
[1:22:11] Speaker 2: people looking for the big names out there, Rico Dawdle
[1:22:13] Speaker 2: didn't get drafted, Bill Krofsky Merritt, I mean a lot
[1:22:16] Speaker 2: of juice could be fun, you know. Yeah, Rico and
[1:22:19] Speaker 2: Chuba Harbard, the Panthers backs didn't didn't quite get taken.
[1:22:22] Speaker 2: Scataboo's coming off of an injury, which didn't help. And
[1:22:25] Speaker 2: then I thought you were gonna give some shout. I
[1:22:27] Speaker 2: just wrote him down because he's one of my favorite
[1:22:29] Speaker 2: role players, like Ty Johnson is great at way. Yes,
[1:22:31] Speaker 2: I'm not gonna take him on this Rangons, but just
[1:22:33] Speaker 2: want to give.
[1:22:34] Speaker 1: Ty Johnson some love. Ali. It was fun that this
[1:22:37] Speaker 1: is one of my favorite things.
[1:22:39] Speaker 2: We do every week that the fans have been enjoying it,
[1:22:42] Speaker 2: NFL Daily thirty two.
[1:22:43] Speaker 1: We will be back next week.
[1:22:45] Speaker 2: I believe we're going to do some GMS with their
[1:22:47] Speaker 2: friend Jordan Redriek, so that'll be fun.
[1:22:50] Speaker 1: Get the torches out. I know you were ready. Oh
[1:22:52] Speaker 1: I haven't the hottest of hottest takes.
[1:22:54] Speaker 3: If people want to want to see NFL Daily turn
[1:22:57] Speaker 3: into First Take for an afternoon.
[1:22:58] Speaker 1: That will be the show to down.
[1:23:00] Speaker 2: All right, I would like that too. All right, let's
[1:23:01] Speaker 2: hit the hit the music. We will be back on Monday.
[1:23:06] Speaker 2: Me and Shook will be doing a news roundup after
[1:23:10] Speaker 2: the weekend. We've got about three weeks left of OTAs
[1:23:13] Speaker 2: in Mini Camp season and then we all just take
[1:23:16] Speaker 2: a little break. But we're not there yet. We've got
[1:23:18] Speaker 2: some rankings to do. We will see you on Monday.
[1:23:21] Speaker 1: List Ship
