[0:05] Speaker 1: Welcome to NFL Daily, where we're about a week or
[0:08] Speaker 1: two away from taking away the play calling from myself
[0:10] Speaker 1: and Nick Shook. I'm Greg Rosenthal. I'm here with the
[0:14] Speaker 1: week five picks. First, Amiko Ryans takes away the play
[0:19] Speaker 1: calling from Matt Burke, the Houston Texans defensive coordinator.
[0:23] Speaker 2: And then as we're taping.
[0:25] Speaker 1: On this day, we learned Sean Payton taking it away.
[0:27] Speaker 1: We saw this coming in Denver that he wants to
[0:31] Speaker 1: be the play caller, although they're trying to sell it
[0:35] Speaker 1: that he might not. We'll see if the Broncos come
[0:37] Speaker 1: up in this show. Chuck, I'm just joking around. I
[0:42] Speaker 1: see that you are in a new location, a new house,
[0:45] Speaker 1: a nice backdrop, and this nice backdrop is going to
[0:48] Speaker 1: be the good luck charm, new house, New picks, and
[0:51] Speaker 1: it's going to help turn our seasons around.
[0:53] Speaker 2: We're both struggling.
[0:54] Speaker 1: I end up at 1-1-1 last week because of a
[0:56] Speaker 1: ridiculous push by the Chargers.
[0:59] Speaker 2: I rewatched that game.
[1:01] Speaker 1: There was about 16 different plays the Chargers made in
[1:04] Speaker 1: the fourth quarter that were outrageous, including a fourth down conversion,
[1:07] Speaker 1: Herbert's falling down. They didn't make those plays Seahawks would
[1:10] Speaker 1: have covered and I would have turned it around. You
[1:13] Speaker 1: had another losing week, but you know what? Like I said,
[1:15] Speaker 1: we're turning it around this week. I'm going to give
[1:17] Speaker 1: you the first overall pick and I want to see
[1:20] Speaker 1: how you are ready to start this season.
[1:22] Speaker 2: New adventure in your new house.
[1:24] Speaker 3: Well, I'm hoping that the picks this week go better
[1:27] Speaker 3: than some of the transportation of my items did because
[1:31] Speaker 3: you can't really tell right now, but the LED lighting
[1:33] Speaker 3: behind me was damaged in the move, so I have
[1:35] Speaker 3: to replace it. But hopefully we're going to go perfect
[1:38] Speaker 3: and there's going to be no damage at all this week.
[1:40] Speaker 3: My first pick. You've I think you've chastised me in
[1:44] Speaker 3: recent weeks for being a self-loathing Browns fan or something
[1:50] Speaker 3: along those lines. I've heard it from many people. I'm
[1:52] Speaker 3: going with the Browns plus one and a half at
[1:54] Speaker 3: the Jets. And it's because I believe in the Browns
[1:57] Speaker 3: to win straight up. That's not a taking the points total.
[2:01] Speaker 3: In fact, it's the opposite. But based on what I
[2:04] Speaker 3: saw from the Jets last week, which I think will
[2:05] Speaker 3: be an anomaly in the larger picture, I feel good
[2:08] Speaker 3: about the direction the Browns are heading. Of course, this,
[2:10] Speaker 3: you know, if you look at it from a fan
[2:11] Speaker 3: perspective and you're a Browns fan, you say. well, they're
[2:14] Speaker 3: on a three game winning streak. So of course, this
[2:16] Speaker 3: is the game that they lose to this Jets team.
[2:18] Speaker 3: And that's fair to throw in there as part of
[2:21] Speaker 3: the equation. But I feel confident that they're going to
[2:23] Speaker 3: be able to go to New York and continue their momentum.
[2:26] Speaker 3: And that's why with them, you know, not as the favorite,
[2:28] Speaker 3: I'm just going to pick them to win straight up here.
[2:30] Speaker 3: And it's plus one and a half. So that really
[2:31] Speaker 3: doesn't matter to me.
[2:33] Speaker 2: It makes sense.
[2:33] Speaker 1: I do think the Browns are a little better than
[2:35] Speaker 1: the Jets. I definitely have my questions about Deshaun Watson.
[2:38] Speaker 1: Are The Jets defense going to be the team athletic enough,
[2:42] Speaker 1: especially up front. You do have David Bailey who could
[2:45] Speaker 1: take him down, but otherwise it's an older defense to
[2:48] Speaker 1: kind of expose maybe Watson holding the ball. I did
[2:51] Speaker 1: look at this game and think, oh, this is a
[2:53] Speaker 1: bounce back game for the Jets. Now, the thing in
[2:56] Speaker 1: your favor is the extra rest that Cleveland has. I'm
[2:59] Speaker 1: always keeping an eye on that on Thursday night football.
[3:02] Speaker 1: We might get to a similar situation in a few minutes.
[3:05] Speaker 1: And it just feels like to me, these two teams
[3:08] Speaker 1: aren't too far apart. They're close to even. Jets are home.
[3:11] Speaker 1: I can see them as a two and three team.
[3:13] Speaker 1: I can see the Browns as a three and two team.
[3:15] Speaker 2: But I get it. I have no problem with that.
[3:17] Speaker 1: I'm going in a similar direction, which is I'm picking
[3:20] Speaker 1: the team that's on a hot streak against the team
[3:23] Speaker 1: that just statistically has not looked great. I'm taking the
[3:27] Speaker 1: Bears minus one and a half in Green Bay.
[3:31] Speaker 2: Always beware, you know, the slight road favorites.
[3:35] Speaker 1: And that's what the Bears are here. But ultimately, look,
[3:39] Speaker 1: the Packers actually started the week before, you know, the
[3:44] Speaker 1: game before Saturday last week as the favorite in this game.
[3:46] Speaker 2: And it flipped.
[3:47] Speaker 1: And I saw a Bears fan asking like, oh, this
[3:50] Speaker 1: must mean like they think Caleb Williams is coming back.
[3:52] Speaker 2: It's like, no, dog.
[3:53] Speaker 1: Like they think your team stinks. The DVOA, just total efficiency. Packers,
[3:59] Speaker 1: 28th in offense, 24th in defense. Bears, one of the
[4:03] Speaker 1: few teams that are top 10 in in both offense
[4:06] Speaker 1: and defense. Tyson Bajan is a factor that you have
[4:11] Speaker 1: to be worried about against a blitzing, frisky Packers defense.
[4:16] Speaker 1: But I just love the weapons that the Bears have.
[4:19] Speaker 1: Obviously the ground game, but also I think Luther Burden
[4:22] Speaker 1: is playing well. Roma Dunzey coming off a good game.
[4:24] Speaker 1: I think they'll be able to scheme up some open receivers.
[4:28] Speaker 1: And ultimately, I am trusting in this Bears defense to
[4:31] Speaker 1: just keep the score low enough for Ben Johnson to
[4:34] Speaker 1: get it done with his play calling.
[4:35] Speaker 3: That's been one of the... on underappreciated storylines with this bears.
[4:40] Speaker 3: Cause we've talked about how Ben Johnson has won a
[4:42] Speaker 3: game now with three different quarterbacks and he must be
[4:44] Speaker 3: quarterback proof and that's all valid and everything else, but
[4:47] Speaker 3: this defense has played well. Now, if in the larger picture,
[4:50] Speaker 3: when we look at this in a post-mortem perspective, at
[4:53] Speaker 3: the end of the regular season, we may look at
[4:55] Speaker 3: this stretch and say, okay, that was misleading because of
[4:58] Speaker 3: their three of their four games, three of them, two
[5:01] Speaker 3: of them have come against pretty bad offenses in, in
[5:04] Speaker 3: Minnesota and the Eagles. And they had the shootout in
[5:07] Speaker 3: week one, obviously, against Carolina. And then they had that
[5:09] Speaker 3: very lopsided game against the Jets, a team that I
[5:11] Speaker 3: still can't really pin down. So is this fool's gold
[5:15] Speaker 3: with this Bears defense?
[5:16] Speaker 2: I don't know.
[5:17] Speaker 3: And I don't really know that we're going to see
[5:19] Speaker 3: it tested this week because despite the Packers finding more
[5:22] Speaker 3: success in the ground against the Buccaneers last week, they're
[5:24] Speaker 3: still a pretty lopsided offense. The reason I stayed away
[5:27] Speaker 3: from this, Greg, is because it's a rivalry game at
[5:30] Speaker 3: Lambeau and you don't have Caleb Williams. That is the reason.
[5:34] Speaker 1: Fair, but this matchup, which has a lot of heat,
[5:37] Speaker 1: of course, after how it ended last year with Ben
[5:41] Speaker 1: Johnson kind of owning Matt LaFleur and that whole back
[5:44] Speaker 1: and forth.
[5:44] Speaker 3: Almost getting Matt LaFleur fired.
[5:46] Speaker 1: You know, like there was a real frostiness between the two.
[5:52] Speaker 2: And I think it's worth remembering that.
[5:54] Speaker 1: Matt LaFleur actually had good answers for Dennis Allen's defense
[5:57] Speaker 1: for most of each of those games. They put up
[6:00] Speaker 1: 400 yards of offense. They built a big lead in
[6:02] Speaker 1: each game, and then they blew it late, as Matt
[6:05] Speaker 1: LaFleur teams are accustomed to doing. My main takeaway, though,
[6:10] Speaker 1: is about the Bears' defense. It's like, you're right, and
[6:13] Speaker 1: they're playing another bad offense this week. They did go
[6:16] Speaker 1: heavy personnel more last week, and it was effective. They
[6:19] Speaker 1: got rid of the ball more quickly, and that was effective.
[6:22] Speaker 1: They probably get Kevin Zeitler in as a starter on
[6:24] Speaker 1: the offensive line. And the Bears defense has struggled more
[6:28] Speaker 1: against heavy personnel. But I really think you got to
[6:30] Speaker 1: beat the Bears defense with the running game. There were
[6:33] Speaker 1: little signs last week. Ultimately, I just think the Bears
[6:36] Speaker 1: are a significantly better team than the Packers right now.
[6:38] Speaker 1: I'm going to take them on the road. What is
[6:40] Speaker 1: your second pick?
[6:41] Speaker 3: Yeah, I understand that rationale. I support it. My second pick,
[6:44] Speaker 3: I'm going to take a hot team that You know,
[6:48] Speaker 3: when you see these lines from week to week, this
[6:49] Speaker 3: is a week to week league and we get surprises
[6:51] Speaker 3: every week. And if you want to look at my
[6:52] Speaker 3: overall picks, just straight up record, you can. That's great
[6:55] Speaker 3: proof of how this league is very unpredictable. But one
[6:57] Speaker 3: team I still feel very confident in, despite them suffering
[7:00] Speaker 3: their first loss last year. is the Las Vegas Raiders.
[7:03] Speaker 3: They're going on the road to face the Patriots. They're
[7:06] Speaker 3: three and a half point underdogs. I'm taking them plus
[7:08] Speaker 3: the points. I believe in Kirk Cousins. I know they
[7:11] Speaker 3: don't run the ball that well. Maybe... This probably isn't
[7:14] Speaker 3: the week that that turns around, but maybe. You can hope. And...
[7:17] Speaker 3: I still need the Patriots to prove to me that
[7:19] Speaker 3: last week wasn't just the product of playing a division
[7:21] Speaker 3: rival and playing inspired football. So I'm going Raiders, baby.
[7:25] Speaker 3: I'm on this bandwagon. I'm on this ship until it sinks.
[7:28] Speaker 3: Maybe there will be a lifeboat left for me. Maybe
[7:30] Speaker 3: there will be half a door and somebody won't let
[7:32] Speaker 3: me on when there was clearly space for it, like
[7:34] Speaker 3: in Titanic. But I'm going with the Raiders. Yeah.
[7:37] Speaker 1: And like Titanic, you know, it takes a while to
[7:39] Speaker 1: turn this ship around, but we're going to do it
[7:41] Speaker 1: here in week two. I'm cautiously optimistic about the Patriots.
[7:48] Speaker 1: in general, but I definitely would be on the Raiders side.
[7:51] Speaker 1: I don't want to be picking against my team. The
[7:54] Speaker 1: three and a half does it. I think it should
[7:55] Speaker 1: be two and a half. I think it should be
[7:57] Speaker 1: one of those where it's two even teams, slight home
[7:59] Speaker 1: favorite Patriots defense has been good.
[8:03] Speaker 2: I think it's well coached.
[8:04] Speaker 1: I think it's similar to the Raiders where on paper
[8:06] Speaker 1: they have some holes, but I think they're schemed up
[8:09] Speaker 1: pretty well. And so I think it's a, it's a tight,
[8:11] Speaker 1: close game. Christian Gonzalez has not been practicing again this week.
[8:15] Speaker 1: It's just a massive, massive loss for the Raiders. Patriots
[8:18] Speaker 1: and so yeah it's one where I think two even
[8:21] Speaker 1: teams take the points I like it okay I have
[8:26] Speaker 1: another game where we're just kind of picking the winner
[8:27] Speaker 1: at least I am here and that is the Rams
[8:31] Speaker 1: minus three on Monday Night Football I'm sorry oh well
[8:35] Speaker 1: I oh I went with my you know tiny table
[8:38] Speaker 1: take on our preview show check that out as uh
[8:42] Speaker 1: that the Rams offense was gonna get it going I
[8:45] Speaker 1: I do think a big part of the Patriots figuring
[8:48] Speaker 1: things out last week was a lackluster Bills defense that
[8:52] Speaker 1: has a few good players, but is counting on the
[8:55] Speaker 1: guys in the back end to do too much.
[8:57] Speaker 2: You have the.
[8:59] Speaker 1: Rams coming home and playing indoors where I think they're
[9:04] Speaker 1: just going to be more comfortable. You get, Jalen Watson
[9:07] Speaker 1: back in the secondary. We don't know if Christian Benford
[9:09] Speaker 1: is going to be back for the Bills. We don't
[9:11] Speaker 1: know if DJ Moore is going to be back for
[9:12] Speaker 1: the Bills. He's been out of practice. But either way,
[9:15] Speaker 1: I look at the Bills offense and think, OK, are
[9:17] Speaker 1: you going to keep up in a shootout? And you
[9:20] Speaker 1: look at the great week when all the credit in
[9:22] Speaker 1: the world to them. But since then, you kill a
[9:26] Speaker 1: dreadful Lions defense. The Bills were great that day, but
[9:30] Speaker 1: it's a truly awful Lions defense. And the last two,
[9:32] Speaker 1: I just think up and down. I think it's a
[9:34] Speaker 1: high scoring game. I think there's a lot of points,
[9:36] Speaker 1: but three points is just not enough for me. If
[9:40] Speaker 1: it was four, four and a half, maybe I stay away.
[9:42] Speaker 1: But I think this is a game that's maybe in
[9:44] Speaker 1: the high 20s or 30s where it's 35-35. 28, 35,
[9:48] Speaker 1: 31 by the end. And that three points, not enough
[9:52] Speaker 1: for a team in LA that I think is more
[9:54] Speaker 1: balanced ultimately overall, because I think they have a better defense.
[9:57] Speaker 2: I think they can win games in multiple kind of ways.
[10:00] Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's hard to figure out who the Rams
[10:02] Speaker 3: are at this point in the season because they were
[10:04] Speaker 3: without Pupinakua until last week. They missed him for the
[10:07] Speaker 3: two weeks in between week one and week four, and
[10:09] Speaker 3: they don't have Myles Garrett. And they also have their
[10:11] Speaker 3: performances have just been very up and down. But I
[10:14] Speaker 3: do believe... Then in the bigger picture, we're going to
[10:17] Speaker 3: kind of toss last week's win out the door because
[10:19] Speaker 3: it was kind of a gross day weather wise. I
[10:21] Speaker 3: think at one point I watched Matthew Stafford get hit,
[10:24] Speaker 3: go down to the ground, and then he comes up
[10:25] Speaker 3: and there's just grass all over his helmet, not like
[10:27] Speaker 3: chunks of grass, just blades. And that tells me that's
[10:29] Speaker 3: a wet field and the footing is not great. They
[10:31] Speaker 3: had a bunch of near misses that could have produced
[10:34] Speaker 3: big plays that could have swung the game in their
[10:36] Speaker 3: favor a lot earlier than the way that they came
[10:38] Speaker 3: back in the end. And so I feel like that's
[10:39] Speaker 3: the anomaly in the larger picture. But because we are
[10:42] Speaker 3: only one month in and the you know, selection of
[10:46] Speaker 3: evidence that we have to work with is, you know,
[10:48] Speaker 3: very inconsistent. I have a hard time. Like I looked
[10:51] Speaker 3: at this game and I was just like, I'm staying
[10:52] Speaker 3: away from that because I could see it going either way.
[10:54] Speaker 3: The one thing I do know is what you've already,
[10:56] Speaker 3: the point that you've already made, which is that that
[10:57] Speaker 3: Bill's defense is not that good. And I think the
[11:01] Speaker 3: Rams will probably capitalize on that, especially at home. But
[11:05] Speaker 3: I need to, I'm very cautious with them right now.
[11:08] Speaker 3: I'm not putting anything on the Rams, you know, in
[11:11] Speaker 3: terms of reputation as of now.
[11:12] Speaker 1: It's a little bit of a hunch and a little
[11:15] Speaker 1: bit of belief that yes, if you look at these
[11:18] Speaker 1: two teams overall so far this season, I think they're
[11:21] Speaker 1: pretty close to even, but I think there's a lot
[11:24] Speaker 1: of reasons to believe the Rams will be better in
[11:28] Speaker 1: this environment and that their, their defense overall, we'll see
[11:31] Speaker 1: if Aaron Donald makes much of a difference, but that
[11:33] Speaker 1: their defense overall, I just think presents more challenges, has
[11:36] Speaker 1: more continuity and has way more talent than.
[11:39] Speaker 2: The bills defense.
[11:40] Speaker 1: And especially if, DJ Moore is not available. I just
[11:43] Speaker 1: don't see where there's some huge difference here between the
[11:48] Speaker 1: two offenses and the two quarterbacks. Matthew Stafford has to
[11:50] Speaker 1: play better. Can't keep making big mistakes. So we'll see.
[11:54] Speaker 2: On that one.
[11:54] Speaker 1: What is your third pick? Are you debating between a
[11:57] Speaker 1: few or you just got one nice and soft?
[11:59] Speaker 3: Yeah, because I made three and then I looked at
[12:02] Speaker 3: them and I was like, I'm going underdogs across the board.
[12:05] Speaker 3: Like I'm taking the points across the board. That feels
[12:07] Speaker 3: a little strange.
[12:08] Speaker 2: That's fine. Don't worry about it. Every week's different.
[12:11] Speaker 3: I think a layup exists in Broncos at Chargers, but
[12:14] Speaker 3: I'm not going to go with a layup. I'm going
[12:15] Speaker 3: to take a swing despite my poor record, despite my
[12:19] Speaker 3: play calling duties being threatened. I'm going underdogs. Saints plus
[12:23] Speaker 3: two and a half versus the Vikings. Wow. And like
[12:26] Speaker 3: the Reese, the reason I'm taking this. recency bias included,
[12:31] Speaker 3: I believe, is that this is a Vikings team that
[12:33] Speaker 3: has a fantastic defense, but I don't know how long
[12:36] Speaker 3: they can continue to win with just their defense. Yes,
[12:40] Speaker 3: the Saints got bulldozed by the Falcons rushing attack. Yes,
[12:44] Speaker 3: Aaron Jones, you know, has the potential to run on them,
[12:46] Speaker 3: but not at the level that Bajon Robinson and Brian
[12:48] Speaker 3: Robinson did. And you can't tell me that a team
[12:52] Speaker 3: that beat the Dolphins 15 to 10, with all due
[12:55] Speaker 3: respect to the Dolphins and their you know, slow, but
[12:58] Speaker 3: promising process is going to hold the Saints to a
[13:02] Speaker 3: low scoring output. Like, I think that the Saints have
[13:04] Speaker 3: an opportunity to win this game. It's going to be
[13:06] Speaker 3: a challenge, but they need to bounce back eventually. And yes, offensively,
[13:10] Speaker 3: they're going to encounter some challenges against this Brian Flores defense.
[13:13] Speaker 3: But I do believe that Tyler Shuck is one of
[13:15] Speaker 3: those guys who's capable of getting the ball out on
[13:17] Speaker 3: time in the face of pressure. And that could be
[13:19] Speaker 3: where the scales tip in the favor of the Saints.
[13:20] Speaker 3: So that's why I'm going plus two and a half Saints.
[13:23] Speaker 1: I like it just that they're at a bottom and
[13:25] Speaker 1: the Vikings are kind of at a high and you'll
[13:27] Speaker 1: do well historically of betting the bottom. Essentially, teams in
[13:32] Speaker 1: the NFL do bounce back on a week-to-week basis. I
[13:36] Speaker 1: do worry about them protecting Chuck in this game and
[13:39] Speaker 1: recognizing the blitzes and he needs to throw more to
[13:42] Speaker 1: the middle of the field.
[13:42] Speaker 2: That's where you beat the Vikings traditionally.
[13:45] Speaker 1: But I hear you that I think the Saints defense
[13:49] Speaker 1: has a good comeback game.
[13:50] Speaker 2: I think you're just.
[13:51] Speaker 1: going to see a much better effort out of a
[13:53] Speaker 1: team that was embarrassed. If I had to choose a
[13:55] Speaker 1: side on this one, I definitely would go Saints. So
[13:58] Speaker 1: I'm with you there.
[13:59] Speaker 2: I like it. All right.
[14:00] Speaker 3: I'm a fan too. And you know what? Maybe it's
[14:02] Speaker 3: a big day for America's tight end, Juwan Johnson.
[14:04] Speaker 2: It's funny because the Broncos minus three and a half.
[14:07] Speaker 2: I love that.
[14:08] Speaker 1: Broncos minus three and a half was the second game
[14:11] Speaker 1: I wrote down. And the more I thought about it,
[14:13] Speaker 1: the more I watched... I decided to stay away as well.
[14:17] Speaker 2: It feels weird.
[14:18] Speaker 3: There's something about it. Chargers is at 0-4. It's like rivalry, division.
[14:22] Speaker 2: Division game.
[14:23] Speaker 1: And Harbaugh owns Sean Payton, at least in the last
[14:27] Speaker 1: two years. They sat their starters in Week 18 last year.
[14:30] Speaker 1: But other than that, they won their last three games
[14:32] Speaker 1: against the Broncos. They are so banged up, though, that
[14:36] Speaker 1: I couldn't get there going Chargers, certainly. But that's a
[14:40] Speaker 1: stay away. I thought I was all in on... Steelers
[14:45] Speaker 1: minus two and a half in the mid-off, I'm calling it.
[14:49] Speaker 3: Yes.
[14:49] Speaker 2: Steelers-Colts.
[14:52] Speaker 1: Because they have the rest for TNF versus the London
[14:56] Speaker 1: trip for Indianapolis. I also think that the way you
[15:00] Speaker 1: beat the Steelers is with explosive plays. And the Colts
[15:06] Speaker 1: are just not built to do that.
[15:08] Speaker 2: So that's one.
[15:09] Speaker 1: And I'm thinking very strongly about it. I have not
[15:13] Speaker 1: made my decision. The other one I really like is
[15:15] Speaker 1: actually Seattle minus three against San Francisco. Now, San Francisco
[15:20] Speaker 1: is number one overall in DVOA by a decent amount.
[15:24] Speaker 1: I just think about how this matchup, how Mike McDonald
[15:27] Speaker 1: got hired in Seattle is for shutting down Brock Purdy
[15:31] Speaker 1: when he was with Baltimore. I think of the way
[15:32] Speaker 1: last year ended. They just embarrassed them. San Francisco two
[15:37] Speaker 1: times in a row. And you can say, oh, well,
[15:38] Speaker 1: this is a different 49ers team. That team was banged up.
[15:41] Speaker 1: This team's pretty banged up too. And I know Seattle
[15:44] Speaker 1: hasn't played its best game, but you're basically saying these
[15:46] Speaker 1: two teams are even right now and we're in Seattle
[15:49] Speaker 1: and the matchup problem. I really like the Seahawks in
[15:53] Speaker 1: this game as well. I still have not made up
[15:55] Speaker 1: my mind which one I'm going to choose. I'm giving
[15:57] Speaker 1: our listeners just a free extra pick for what it's worth.
[16:01] Speaker 1: What do you think between these two? What do you
[16:05] Speaker 1: think about these two in general?
[16:06] Speaker 2: You don't have to choose between them.
[16:08] Speaker 3: When I looked at Seahawks-Niners, it was another divisional game
[16:11] Speaker 3: where I was just like, stay away. Because... I mean, they.
[16:15] Speaker 2: Embarrassed them twice last year at the end.
[16:18] Speaker 3: I know, but every season is different. And the Niners
[16:22] Speaker 3: did just pass a test last week, which really impressed me.
[16:25] Speaker 3: You know, the mental toughness they needed to overcome a
[16:28] Speaker 3: really bad offensive first half to be able to pull
[16:31] Speaker 3: away and do it in their style. And... when it,
[16:35] Speaker 3: when it comes to these two teams and the familiarity,
[16:37] Speaker 3: I just, I worry about that. I also feel as
[16:40] Speaker 3: though the Steelers with that extra few days of rest
[16:43] Speaker 3: will bounce back. Um, I think that they're just a
[16:46] Speaker 3: better team than the Colts. The Colts' defense, I have
[16:49] Speaker 3: very little respect for on a weekly basis. And the
[16:53] Speaker 3: last two games they've won, they beat the Commanders overseas,
[16:58] Speaker 3: but the Commanders ended up playing with a third-string rookie
[17:01] Speaker 3: quarterback for the majority of that game, who did rip
[17:03] Speaker 3: some nice deep passes, but he also was out there
[17:06] Speaker 3: playing with no fear.
[17:07] Speaker 2: Wait, can I point out.
[17:08] Speaker 1: The most ridiculous social media post I saw all week?
[17:11] Speaker 1: The Commanders sent out a graphic that Callie McManus, led
[17:16] Speaker 1: the league in like plus 30 yard, like air yard
[17:20] Speaker 1: attempts last year.
[17:21] Speaker 3: Yeah, because he was throwing a billion of them.
[17:24] Speaker 2: But it wasn't even completions. It was attempts. And they
[17:27] Speaker 2: put a big graphic. It was like six. And then
[17:29] Speaker 2: it was like a sponsored post.
[17:31] Speaker 1: And they were like, Cali McManus led the NFL in
[17:34] Speaker 1: six yards attempts.
[17:35] Speaker 2: I mean, I could put Nick Shook out there. Can
[17:37] Speaker 2: you throw at 30 yards? I'm sure you can.
[17:39] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[17:40] Speaker 1: You can lead the NFL in 30-yard attempts, too. They're
[17:43] Speaker 1: probably not going to get a lot of completions, but
[17:44] Speaker 1: you can just throw it every doubt.
[17:45] Speaker 2: It's just as funny.
[17:46] Speaker 3: Just take a snap and chuck it. Yeah, that's hilarious.
[17:48] Speaker 1: He did complete two of them, and they had two
[17:51] Speaker 1: 40-plus-yard gains, which is bigger than I think a lot
[17:55] Speaker 1: of really big-time quarterbacks have all seen.
[17:57] Speaker 3: Right, but if the Colts fans are going to be like, oh, well,
[18:02] Speaker 3: our defense just held Houston to 17, and we held
[18:05] Speaker 3: Washington to 13. And I'm thinking, like, do you understand
[18:09] Speaker 3: the circumstances involved in both games? A Texans offense that
[18:13] Speaker 3: couldn't run the ball and then you gave up a
[18:14] Speaker 3: late touchdown and you were fortunate to escape with a victory.
[18:17] Speaker 3: This is not going to hold against the Steelers as
[18:20] Speaker 3: long as they stick with Jalen Warren. Just let Jalen
[18:23] Speaker 3: Warren pace this offense and build off of it. Follow
[18:26] Speaker 3: the Kevin Stefanski and Falcons method. I think the Steelers
[18:29] Speaker 3: win this one easily. Like, I think that this is
[18:33] Speaker 3: it could be a back and forth game, but I
[18:34] Speaker 3: think they end up pulling away. And that's why I
[18:36] Speaker 3: like that pick more.
[18:38] Speaker 1: I was leaning that way too, partly because when it's
[18:42] Speaker 1: a tiebreaker for me, it's more about the teams you're
[18:44] Speaker 1: picking against than the teams you are picking for.
[18:46] Speaker 3: Yeah, and I don't have a ton of confidence in
[18:47] Speaker 3: the Colts.
[18:48] Speaker 1: And I don't either. I really do like that Seahawks game.
[18:52] Speaker 1: I'm on the comeback trail. That was a two-in-one week
[18:55] Speaker 1: last week that was taken away by total robbery in
[19:00] Speaker 1: that Chargers game. And I'm going three-in-one with these four picks. Pittsburgh, Seattle, Chicago,
[19:07] Speaker 1: and the Rams. But because of the format, I'm going
[19:09] Speaker 1: to go 3-1 or 4-0. I'm calling it right here.
[19:13] Speaker 2: It's happening. It's happening.
[19:14] Speaker 1: I'm just saying I will have to make one to
[19:18] Speaker 1: make it our three, and that will be Pittsburgh minus
[19:21] Speaker 1: two and a half.
[19:21] Speaker 3: We banned ourselves from going in together, but as my extra,
[19:24] Speaker 3: my fourth, I am also taking Pittsburgh. And the last
[19:27] Speaker 3: point I didn't make, but my extra, since we each
[19:30] Speaker 3: have an extra, apparently.
[19:31] Speaker 2: Sure, why not? You can say whatever you want. We
[19:34] Speaker 2: can say 10 extras if we want. Only three count.
[19:37] Speaker 3: The slam dunk point there, uh, for the Steelers is
[19:40] Speaker 3: Daniel Jones has had a turnover issue. It's, it's reared
[19:42] Speaker 3: its ugly head again. And that Steelers front will create
[19:44] Speaker 3: some turnovers after not getting after Deshaun Watson last week.
[19:47] Speaker 3: They will get it right. They will create turnovers. Yeah.
[19:50] Speaker 2: I like that.
[19:51] Speaker 1: You know which game I took a little bit of
[19:53] Speaker 1: a look at too was Miami again. You might get
[19:58] Speaker 1: Chase and not Higgins or vice versa. We're not really sure.
[20:02] Speaker 1: They're at home against the Bengals. Six and a half
[20:04] Speaker 1: feels like a lot to give the Bengals right now.
[20:05] Speaker 1: But I'm not making it.
[20:07] Speaker 3: That was a stay away for me because I was
[20:09] Speaker 3: going to go Bengals and then I was like, oh,
[20:10] Speaker 3: they're playing in Miami. And things get weird in Miami
[20:13] Speaker 3: this time of year, especially for a team that's still
[20:15] Speaker 3: trying to find a consistent rhythm, which is where I
[20:17] Speaker 3: think the Bengals are offensively right now. The other game
[20:20] Speaker 3: I had my eye on, Giants plus three and a
[20:23] Speaker 3: half at Washington.
[20:25] Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought you might go in that direction. It
[20:28] Speaker 1: almost feels like they're begging everyone to take the Giants
[20:30] Speaker 1: in that game. But Jaden Daniels on his way back.
[20:32] Speaker 1: We don't think Terry McLaurin is. Those are the type
[20:35] Speaker 1: of extra injury nuggets you get on this pick show.
[20:38] Speaker 1: In addition to some winners for week five. That's it
[20:42] Speaker 1: from Shook and I. That's it from NFL Daily for
[20:46] Speaker 1: the pre-week five slate of shows.
[20:48] Speaker 2: Next time. You will hear from us.
[20:50] Speaker 1: Nick Shook, myself, and Jordan Rodrigue will be recapping all
[20:54] Speaker 1: the Week 5 games. I cannot wait. It's a really
[20:58] Speaker 1: fun Sunday slate of games, including that one in Tottenham.
[21:01] Speaker 2: We'll see you then.
