Gregg Rosenthal and Nate Tice rank the top 32 wide receivers heading into the 2026 NFL season. Find out who comes in at number one, where players like Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Ja'Marr Chase, Puka Nacua, and Justin Jefferson end up ranked, who falls just short of making the top 32, and which teams fail to have a pass catcher make the list. [0:04] Speaker 1: Welcome to NFL Daily, where we're great against off coverage
[0:08] Speaker 1: and press coverage. Don't come near me at the line
[0:11] Speaker 1: of scrimmage. That's right, it's a Wide Receiver show. I'm
[0:13] Speaker 1: Greg Rosenthal. It's the NFL Daily thirty two series, continuing
[0:19] Speaker 1: where we rank where the league stands right now. And
[0:22] Speaker 1: no one I would rather talk football with than my
[0:25] Speaker 1: friend Nate Tice from Yahoo Sports Football three oh one
[0:29] Speaker 1: is his podcast. He does some work here at the
[0:32] Speaker 1: NFL as well with next Gen and he does a
[0:35] Speaker 1: great job. He's not just a quarterback guy today. You're
[0:37] Speaker 1: a wide receiver guy.
[0:38] Speaker 2: Oh, I appreciate it. I do always try to be
[0:42] Speaker 2: an all purpose kind of guy, you know, and I
[0:45] Speaker 2: would say ANFL budsman, but just maybe just now at
[0:48] Speaker 2: least I have a little chatter, just like all you do,
[0:50] Speaker 2: like a lot of things pop culture. I might not
[0:52] Speaker 2: be the most in depth person. I alwayst we could
[0:54] Speaker 2: talk about each position, so it'd be great. You know.
[0:57] Speaker 2: The wide receiver's tough too, because this is this is
[1:00] Speaker 2: one that I could definitely tell a lot of personal
[1:02] Speaker 2: flavors kind of influence.
[1:03] Speaker 1: Absolutely, that's what it is. It's who, it's what types
[1:08] Speaker 1: of receivers you like. It's the receivers we want, and
[1:11] Speaker 1: it's specifically for twenty twenty six, so we're not talking
[1:14] Speaker 1: long term. This wasn't the best wide receiver class in
[1:18] Speaker 1: the draft. It wasn't the worst either. It was a
[1:21] Speaker 1: good one. But we'll see if how we value rookies
[1:24] Speaker 1: they are eligible if you if a rookie sneaks into
[1:26] Speaker 1: the end of this draft, we'll have to find out.
[1:29] Speaker 1: But yeah, if you've been listening, you know that I've
[1:32] Speaker 1: been giving the first pick to our guest in general
[1:36] Speaker 1: or Allie obviously when he's on as a regular, And
[1:39] Speaker 1: so I will give you the first pick and we'll
[1:41] Speaker 1: see which different types of flavors. You know, he's not
[1:44] Speaker 1: just a Drake May enthusiast. He also knows ball at
[1:47] Speaker 1: the receiver position.
[1:48] Speaker 2: You're up first, and really it's two former teammates that
[1:53] Speaker 2: college teammates I'm to signed between. And that's Jamar Chase
[1:55] Speaker 2: and Justin Jefferson. Just cards on the table for me. Yeah, yeah,
[2:01] Speaker 2: and apologies to Pukinnakua and I don't even say Jays
[2:03] Speaker 2: and wow, I'm just really giving away my top four.
[2:06] Speaker 2: But I would say this is heart versus head and
[2:09] Speaker 2: I know statistically who probably will come out ahead, and
[2:12] Speaker 2: I get that, and maybe just even team offensive success.
[2:15] Speaker 2: I'm going number one, Justin Jefferson. And this is just
[2:18] Speaker 2: for this year as well, and I don't even say
[2:19] Speaker 2: long term, but I'm very bullish on what the Vikings
[2:22] Speaker 2: offense can be this year. I know it's quote unquote
[2:25] Speaker 2: quarterback competition, but I'm comfortable saying Kyler Murray will win it.
[2:28] Speaker 2: And when Kyler Murray, I think will be a great
[2:32] Speaker 2: will have great synergy with Justin Jefferson and the auxiliary
[2:35] Speaker 2: targets there too. I think Koc is kind of down
[2:37] Speaker 2: a downfield attack will match Kyler, and I think actually
[2:41] Speaker 2: some of the under center stuff, Kyler actually has more
[2:43] Speaker 2: experience than I think people have realized. Everyone. I think
[2:46] Speaker 2: that's a big thing right now. It's like Kmoc's gonna
[2:48] Speaker 2: put him under sand more than he has. Well. Yeah,
[2:49] Speaker 2: but he also was doing that he and Drew pettsing,
[2:52] Speaker 2: So I'm not We did our quarterback draft. I think
[2:54] Speaker 2: I took Kyer sixteen or seventeen, something like that. But
[2:57] Speaker 2: I'm pretty optimistic about him this year having a pretty
[3:00] Speaker 2: good season. And why I say that as Justin Jefferson
[3:02] Speaker 2: performs with just about anybody, but I think if it's Kyler,
[3:06] Speaker 2: he's gonna get back to where people go, oh yeah you,
[3:09] Speaker 2: oh yeah. One of the best non quarterbacks in the
[3:11] Speaker 2: entire week. So Justin Jefferson number eighteen, one of my
[3:13] Speaker 2: favorite players in the league, my number one pick in
[3:15] Speaker 2: the receiver.
[3:16] Speaker 1: Yeah, it might be draft like the number one player
[3:19] Speaker 1: at any position. You could make an argument thumb years.
[3:22] Speaker 1: The thing about last year that was interesting. Obviously the
[3:25] Speaker 1: production wasn't there. I don't care about the production. He
[3:27] Speaker 1: averaged literally averaged sixteen hundred yards a season with Kirk
[3:31] Speaker 1: Cousins when Kirk was healthy, So it's like, okay, there
[3:34] Speaker 1: we go. But the thing that I think spells out
[3:38] Speaker 1: how great he is as a player. You know, the
[3:40] Speaker 1: one throw JJ McCarthy could make really consistently and well
[3:44] Speaker 1: was just like a post and next Gen has the numbers.
[3:48] Speaker 1: Who led the league last year in post route yardage?
[3:51] Speaker 1: It was Justin Jefferson by far the most of his career,
[3:54] Speaker 1: Like the big players weren't really there, but it was like, well,
[3:57] Speaker 1: that's what JJ can do. I'll just do that well
[4:00] Speaker 1: because I can do literally everything, and there were still
[4:02] Speaker 1: amazing games. There was a Seahawks game there was a
[4:04] Speaker 1: great stat where he was the only receiver and he
[4:06] Speaker 1: dominated the Seahawks where he's the only player all year
[4:10] Speaker 1: that had two catches on Job, two catches on Reek,
[4:12] Speaker 1: two catches on Witherspoon, like they kept, you know, moving
[4:15] Speaker 1: him around doesn't really matter. He beat the best defense
[4:19] Speaker 1: in the league, So I don't think it's controversial. I
[4:21] Speaker 1: think it was an easy top two. And that was
[4:23] Speaker 1: also my tops for.
[4:24] Speaker 3: What it's worth.
[4:25] Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, good, Yeah, I'm just kind of like I
[4:27] Speaker 2: feel like, and again this is just my anecdotal public consumption,
[4:32] Speaker 2: and I just feel like he's kind of just kind
[4:33] Speaker 2: of getting waved away. And I get the NFL. It's
[4:35] Speaker 2: always kind of what you did last how much you
[4:37] Speaker 2: are in the the you know, the forefront of everyone's minds.
[4:39] Speaker 2: And I think he's kind of gone away. Even last year,
[4:41] Speaker 2: he was still like underlying numbers wise, was still pretty
[4:44] Speaker 2: dang productive, you know, more like top twenty numbers than
[4:47] Speaker 2: top five like he usually is. As far as like
[4:49] Speaker 2: y arts per route run and explosives success success rate
[4:53] Speaker 2: per route that's another thing I look at, or successful
[4:56] Speaker 2: target per route and all those were more like top eighteen,
[4:58] Speaker 2: top twenty, but I would say this year is more
[5:01] Speaker 2: what he gets to and like you mentioned, he's been
[5:03] Speaker 2: successful with Kirk Cousins. I think Kyler can do a
[5:06] Speaker 2: kind of a Kirk Cousins impression with some more dynamic ability.
[5:09] Speaker 2: But I could just see that production jumping back with Jefferson.
[5:12] Speaker 3: Yeah, the fluidity is awesome.
[5:14] Speaker 1: I got to see him inside back to back weeks
[5:16] Speaker 1: last year because I was in Dublin and London for
[5:20] Speaker 1: their two games, and he is just receiver a lot
[5:23] Speaker 1: of it's the eyeball test too, because you know they're
[5:26] Speaker 1: so dependent on what's around them. But that said Jamar
[5:28] Speaker 1: Chase to me wasn't easy too. I had them the
[5:31] Speaker 1: top two. The strength is just so crazy for his
[5:35] Speaker 1: size for running back, like his hand fighting. Everyone knows
[5:39] Speaker 1: he can run like a running back, but the routes
[5:42] Speaker 1: are just so fluid that that's the word that stands
[5:44] Speaker 1: out to me.
[5:44] Speaker 3: With both of these receivers.
[5:46] Speaker 1: I think about how like when Jake Browning is in,
[5:50] Speaker 1: for instance, like last year, Jake Browning wasn't good last
[5:53] Speaker 1: year the first Jake Browning game, Chase goes eleven for
[5:57] Speaker 1: one hundred and forty nine yards in an overtime win.
[6:00] Speaker 1: And it was the same thing last year. It was
[6:03] Speaker 1: also against the Jaguars. I think the lines I'm forgetting
[6:06] Speaker 1: WHI year was which but when Browning came in, like
[6:08] Speaker 1: he still can dominate, they use a more in the
[6:10] Speaker 1: slot and it was like that Thanksgiving game against the Ravens,
[6:14] Speaker 1: like if you just go single coverage, if you finally
[6:17] Speaker 1: give him a little space, like he's just he's just
[6:19] Speaker 1: gonna cook you. So the consistency, you know exactly what
[6:21] Speaker 1: you're getting. To me, he was an easy number two.
[6:24] Speaker 2: Yeah, force in nature. I mean, that's really what he
[6:26] Speaker 2: is like, and a guy that's just I mean, it's
[6:29] Speaker 2: astounding what he can kind of come down with because
[6:32] Speaker 2: his ball skills are just so good on the outside,
[6:34] Speaker 2: and they they keep trying to figure out ways to
[6:39] Speaker 2: move him around the formation and maybe diversify how they
[6:42] Speaker 2: use him so not just as static. And that's been
[6:44] Speaker 2: pretty cool to see them at layers. Whether they at
[6:46] Speaker 2: first was moving to the slot and then they started
[6:48] Speaker 2: moving into what they call the number three position, which
[6:50] Speaker 2: is usual where a tight analyze a lines and they've
[6:53] Speaker 2: kind of gotten they've kind of shifted that around, but
[6:55] Speaker 2: he's just so dominant on the outside. Gets also one
[6:58] Speaker 2: of the best players I've ever seen getting away with
[7:01] Speaker 2: push ups, and I really do think that's that's a
[7:03] Speaker 2: part of his craft, like a part of his skill set.
[7:06] Speaker 2: And just how strong he is. Just unbelievable physical presence
[7:10] Speaker 2: of him, like as far as just contact balance with
[7:13] Speaker 2: the ball in his hands, but also when the balls
[7:14] Speaker 2: in the air, and yeah, just an explosive player and
[7:17] Speaker 2: just so much fun to watch. So yeah, I think
[7:19] Speaker 2: these two are I mean really to me, it's kind
[7:21] Speaker 2: of like a top three, but like these two kind
[7:23] Speaker 2: of feel like the top two thanks to me.
[7:25] Speaker 1: Interesting then yeah, I don't know who your top three is.
[7:28] Speaker 1: And I like that, Like he can do anything. There
[7:30] Speaker 1: was there was a game against the Steelers last year Chase.
[7:32] Speaker 1: They threw him the ball twenty three times and just
[7:34] Speaker 1: like short stuff because that was like there, that was
[7:36] Speaker 1: all they could do and so they just did it
[7:38] Speaker 1: all right. So if you think it's a top three,
[7:40] Speaker 1: who is your thirtie?
[7:41] Speaker 2: Yeah, and that'd be pooking Nakua. I think Nkoua. I
[7:44] Speaker 2: get he gets a lot of help, you know, with
[7:46] Speaker 2: the McVeigh offense and just dialing up a lot of plays.
[7:48] Speaker 2: He plays with Matthew Stafford. But the thing is, you
[7:50] Speaker 2: know Jamar Chase plays with Joe Burrow. But you mentioned
[7:53] Speaker 2: the Jake Browning stuff as well. But I think Pookin Nakula,
[7:56] Speaker 2: I mean running the ball, you see his kind of
[7:58] Speaker 2: athletic ability. I think you just see he's better just
[8:02] Speaker 2: creating explosives. I think it's really funny. But people just
[8:05] Speaker 2: know he's productive, you know, whether it's fantasy or highlights.
[8:08] Speaker 2: But as a general fan, like, why is Pooka Nakua
[8:11] Speaker 2: good like these other guys I can get you kind
[8:13] Speaker 2: of describe picture Big plays with Poop Well, to me,
[8:16] Speaker 2: at Puka is just like he is. So you mentioned fluid,
[8:19] Speaker 2: it's kind of like more of like he's the build
[8:21] Speaker 2: up speed guy. He's the runway guy. So like he
[8:24] Speaker 2: gets he never kind of he knows how to throttle,
[8:26] Speaker 2: so he just really knows how to Maybe he does
[8:28] Speaker 2: have that top max speed which he saw in this
[8:30] Speaker 2: forty time, but he knows how to just get in
[8:32] Speaker 2: and out of stuff without ever throttling down. Like he
[8:36] Speaker 2: can just break off of it and you can hit
[8:38] Speaker 2: full speed as you're running it in breaking route and
[8:40] Speaker 2: then his contact balance and strength also just like Chase
[8:43] Speaker 2: show up whether he has the ball in his hands
[8:45] Speaker 2: or on the outside. And I think his ball skills
[8:47] Speaker 2: have really improved as far as contested catch situations, and
[8:49] Speaker 2: people seeing you know the why or the video version
[8:52] Speaker 2: of this right now, can see that like his that's
[8:54] Speaker 2: what's been really a standout ability. Like even when he
[8:57] Speaker 2: was at BYU, they were using him on jet sweeps
[8:59] Speaker 2: because that contact bounce was so good.
[9:01] Speaker 4: Uh.
[9:01] Speaker 2: And then if you just even look at underlying production,
[9:04] Speaker 2: like he's truly had the greatest start of ANFL career
[9:08] Speaker 2: maybe ever. If you look at stuff like yards per
[9:11] Speaker 2: route run and all explosives and success rate, you look
[9:16] Speaker 2: at just even just raw tolls and box score tolls,
[9:18] Speaker 2: he's up there. But it's just a player that has
[9:21] Speaker 2: been absolutely tremendous since he's joined the league as a
[9:23] Speaker 2: Day three pick, and I think he just keeps getting
[9:26] Speaker 2: a little bit better. McVeigh puts him in great spots,
[9:29] Speaker 2: but he also makes McVeigh and Stafford very right that
[9:32] Speaker 2: he would translate into any offense right now. So I
[9:35] Speaker 2: think just strength, fluidness, just that's just the power of
[9:39] Speaker 2: Nikua is just it's it's tremendous to wash him right.
[9:42] Speaker 1: And he obviously fits in in this NFL where receivers
[9:46] Speaker 1: are blocking. There's no one I think at the top
[9:48] Speaker 1: of our list that we would want more doing that.
[9:51] Speaker 1: The knucklehead factor I played into played into it for me.
[9:55] Speaker 1: So for whatever it's worth, I did have JSN in
[9:58] Speaker 1: front of him just because just because these guys are
[10:01] Speaker 1: all so great and he's he just seems like an
[10:03] Speaker 1: immature guy and he's probably gonna have It. Hasn't effected
[10:07] Speaker 1: his play on the field at all, but I did
[10:10] Speaker 1: just play that in that, like these other guys are
[10:12] Speaker 1: all so professional that that was just like the smallest thing.
[10:16] Speaker 1: But yes, statistically he's probably number one. I mean he
[10:19] Speaker 1: has the last year, he had the most yards after
[10:21] Speaker 1: contact for anyone since twenty eighteen. In the NFC Championship,
[10:26] Speaker 1: it's all downfield throws. Like in all three of those
[10:29] Speaker 1: Seahawks games, it was all him. I remember the idea
[10:32] Speaker 1: it's like oh, one A one B with Devonte Ams. No,
[10:34] Speaker 1: he had twelve for two twenty five in that overtime game,
[10:37] Speaker 1: the first game that they won that they struggled. He
[10:39] Speaker 1: was the only receiver that had any production at all.
[10:42] Speaker 3: And then in the.
[10:43] Speaker 1: NFC Championship, like he's nine for one sixty five And
[10:46] Speaker 1: you mentioned the yards per out run. Yeah, he's the
[10:48] Speaker 1: greatest of all time for yards per route run. If
[10:50] Speaker 1: that's what's just what you wanted to look like. And
[10:51] Speaker 1: it's not just okay, he's only had a few seasons.
[10:53] Speaker 1: The only two other players that have ever had the
[10:55] Speaker 1: two seasons that he have are I went and looked
[10:58] Speaker 1: was Julio Jones in Tyrone Kill and that's it and
[11:00] Speaker 1: they only had two of them, and even his are above.
[11:03] Speaker 3: So he's just outrageous. So it was just a little
[11:05] Speaker 3: bit of the knucklehead factor that I wanted to bess for.
[11:08] Speaker 2: I know, he's making a heel turn, and it just
[11:11] Speaker 2: came out. I think it came out nowhere. I wasn't
[11:12] Speaker 2: ready for it.
[11:13] Speaker 3: That's true. It's true.
[11:15] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's an unexpected heel turn. I interviewed him after
[11:17] Speaker 2: his rookie year and he was tremendous and he was
[11:19] Speaker 2: just like so positive and everything, and so yeah, I know, I.
[11:21] Speaker 1: Know, I think they love him and honestly the long
[11:24] Speaker 1: term and even this year about like the year after
[11:27] Speaker 1: being such a knucklehead. I have a feeling like maybe
[11:30] Speaker 1: it's just learning things about life and being a professional.
[11:34] Speaker 3: It all came out of year here, and they're not
[11:37] Speaker 3: going to go either before this year.
[11:39] Speaker 2: So that's that's well. And even if I just looked,
[11:42] Speaker 2: I can on true media, I can look back to
[11:43] Speaker 2: twenty thirteen and and every stat Niku is on top.
[11:48] Speaker 2: He's actually even on top of target rate. No one
[11:50] Speaker 2: has been targeted more to start their career ever, thirty
[11:54] Speaker 2: three percent. Right now, you know, the league average over
[11:56] Speaker 2: that time period's twenty percent first and first downs per
[11:59] Speaker 2: route run firstus right, three point two yards per route run,
[12:02] Speaker 2: which anything over three in one season you mentioned this
[12:04] Speaker 2: is excellent elite. And he averages that first and explosives
[12:08] Speaker 2: you know, tenth in yards per target just all that stuff.
[12:10] Speaker 2: I mean, top thirty since twenty thirteen, runs designed for him,
[12:15] Speaker 2: you know, just as he's second since twenty thirteen, how
[12:18] Speaker 2: many times he's been asked to pass block, just speaking
[12:21] Speaker 2: of his versatility among receivers. So it's just you know,
[12:23] Speaker 2: and the only guy above him actually technically is Toy Montgomery,
[12:26] Speaker 2: who played running back. So he's been asked to block
[12:29] Speaker 2: more from any receiver ever on record that I can
[12:31] Speaker 2: look back. Then number number two makes sense. It's Cooper
[12:34] Speaker 2: Cup because he was asked to do the same things
[12:36] Speaker 2: in this offense. So it's just, yeah, just to do
[12:38] Speaker 2: it all in this the triple threat of Nikua. But
[12:40] Speaker 2: you mentioned JSN.
[12:43] Speaker 3: That's my guy.
[12:44] Speaker 1: I'm I'm gonna take him forth And some of his
[12:47] Speaker 1: stats are obviously insane last year. But the thing that
[12:50] Speaker 1: stands out to me is, I think it's easy to
[12:54] Speaker 1: forget he came in as a primary slot. You know,
[12:56] Speaker 1: according to next Gen he's actually their first person they've
[12:59] Speaker 1: ever measured that has led the league in slot yardage
[13:03] Speaker 1: one season and then led the league in yardage out
[13:06] Speaker 1: wide the next. And like he was the best downfield
[13:09] Speaker 1: threat in the NFL last year by a good margin
[13:12] Speaker 1: in terms of production per throw.
[13:14] Speaker 3: All of that, and he's a guy who ran what
[13:16] Speaker 3: a four or five or something.
[13:17] Speaker 1: It just shows you it's about getting open and fitting
[13:21] Speaker 1: into the offense. And one thing that really stands out
[13:24] Speaker 1: to me very much in the Chase JJ mold, where
[13:26] Speaker 1: you know he's a do it all guy. It's not
[13:29] Speaker 1: just you know, physically wowing you when he was on
[13:33] Speaker 1: the field, last year Nate in the regular season, they
[13:35] Speaker 1: averaged six point six yards per play. When he wasn't
[13:38] Speaker 1: they averaged three point six yards too.
[13:41] Speaker 3: They're like the.
[13:42] Speaker 1: Best offensive NFL history when he's on the field, and
[13:46] Speaker 1: they stink when he's not.
[13:47] Speaker 2: So was Jeff Fisher rams when he's not on the field. Yeah, Oh, Now,
[13:52] Speaker 2: Jayson has been such a I really liked him as
[13:55] Speaker 2: a college prospect. I just thought he would be like
[13:57] Speaker 2: a high end two, maybe low end one player. But man,
[14:03] Speaker 2: this he's just been. I mean, every every year he
[14:05] Speaker 2: just adds something like you mentioned now he's going to
[14:07] Speaker 2: the outside. The verticalness has been the most pleasant surprise
[14:10] Speaker 2: because he had the game. This game lived in everybody's
[14:13] Speaker 2: memory in college was with the Rose Bowl when he
[14:17] Speaker 2: played Utah and he had a running back for Utah
[14:20] Speaker 2: playing dB guarding him and he shredded him. And in
[14:23] Speaker 2: that game, there's some verticalness. But really how Jason won
[14:25] Speaker 2: early or the one full year he played in college
[14:27] Speaker 2: because then he kind of got banged up his last year,
[14:30] Speaker 2: was that it was just a lot of underneath stuff,
[14:32] Speaker 2: a lot of out routes like sail routes, a lot
[14:33] Speaker 2: of over routes, some craftiness in there, and I was like, Okay,
[14:36] Speaker 2: he's really smooth. But then really seeing him in the NFL,
[14:39] Speaker 2: especially on the outside, especially against press, especially how vertical
[14:42] Speaker 2: Seattle asked him to operate on play action, is he's
[14:47] Speaker 2: like a I think others compare him. I think actually
[14:49] Speaker 2: and Sam Darnold's to this, but he's like a skier
[14:51] Speaker 2: where he doesn't his height never changes. It's just always.
[14:55] Speaker 2: And I've talked about this with like you know, a
[14:56] Speaker 2: pitch tunneling in baseball, you know, route tunneling. Everything looks
[14:59] Speaker 2: the same to DB's and then just see him never
[15:02] Speaker 2: kind of like change speeds and just create all this
[15:04] Speaker 2: room because the corners were just going like is he
[15:07] Speaker 2: going vertical? Is he breaking? Is he going out? Is
[15:09] Speaker 2: he going in? So like his like it's not craftiness,
[15:12] Speaker 2: just as smoothness as a route runner, I think is exceptional.
[15:15] Speaker 2: Like I would have him as maybe the most dynamic
[15:17] Speaker 2: route runner in the league right now, and I'm trying
[15:19] Speaker 2: to think of another. But I mean, obviously it's easy
[15:21] Speaker 2: to say after you wins Offensive Player of the Year,
[15:24] Speaker 2: but I do think that it's just the technique of
[15:26] Speaker 2: how he plays. As even I liked it. Coming out
[15:29] Speaker 2: of college, I thought it was a strength, but now
[15:30] Speaker 2: it's more like, oh you're elite, like not just like
[15:33] Speaker 2: very good and just the explosiveness that comes with that.
[15:36] Speaker 2: But I talked to Matt Harmon from an NFL Network
[15:39] Speaker 2: employ I believe and also work with him at Yahoo
[15:42] Speaker 2: does awesome stuff on the receivers, and I was talking about,
[15:45] Speaker 2: like I think a lot of people think good route
[15:47] Speaker 2: running is how there's a little quick feet you know,
[15:49] Speaker 2: the TikTok routes. Jerry Judy is probably the biggest culture
[15:52] Speaker 2: of that. Renfro Hunter, renfro Amari Cooper was, you know,
[15:56] Speaker 2: a culprit of this a little bit. But really good
[15:58] Speaker 2: route running is like with Jay is in where he
[16:00] Speaker 2: makes so much look the same, and the more breaks
[16:04] Speaker 2: you put on the route as far as the stem
[16:06] Speaker 2: and then the fake you know, maybe a fake post
[16:08] Speaker 2: into a corner, that's where you get to see his
[16:10] Speaker 2: route running. So it's like the more breaks there are
[16:13] Speaker 2: on the route, that's where you get to see a
[16:14] Speaker 2: good route runner kind of get highlighted. And that's I
[16:17] Speaker 2: mean just even those clips you guys were showing right now,
[16:19] Speaker 2: the Jaysn clips, it's just how many times he breaks
[16:21] Speaker 2: on those routes. Count them. It's like two, three times,
[16:23] Speaker 2: and you see the corners going going every which way, like, oh, shoot,
[16:27] Speaker 2: which way is he leaning? So yeah, I would say
[16:30] Speaker 2: I really like JSN and now I love Jason, So
[16:33] Speaker 2: I'm very happy that you haven't four. I think that's
[16:35] Speaker 2: a very fair pick four or five. Five.
[16:38] Speaker 1: It's subtle, like, look, guys get better in the NFL.
[16:41] Speaker 1: Not everyone, especially at the receiver position, but you get
[16:44] Speaker 1: to the the NFL and just the professionals, and it's
[16:47] Speaker 1: not like you felt that far he fell to twentieth.
[16:49] Speaker 1: We have some other guys coming up who fell way
[16:51] Speaker 1: too far despite being physically dominated. I'm curious, curious, who's
[16:54] Speaker 1: number five on your list?
[16:56] Speaker 2: Well, now this is not fun because no matter what,
[16:59] Speaker 2: it's going to be kind of a it feels to
[17:01] Speaker 2: me it's like I really have to make a case here.
[17:04] Speaker 2: I feel like those first four are pretty easy and
[17:07] Speaker 2: and just kind of again, cards on the table. I
[17:09] Speaker 2: have a lot of different ideas here. Kind of one
[17:13] Speaker 2: is I wish his offense wasn't an offense. I would
[17:16] Speaker 2: have Drake London a lot higher if his offense wasn't.
[17:18] Speaker 3: His don't worry about the off and we're taking him
[17:20] Speaker 3: out of these offenses. Taking Fantasy draft, we're just saying
[17:23] Speaker 3: who's the best.
[17:24] Speaker 2: But yeah, I understand that. And you know, I'm going
[17:28] Speaker 2: this is kind of crazy to me because there's some
[17:30] Speaker 2: other guys in here that I really really would have
[17:32] Speaker 2: high up here, but I'm going to go with Nico
[17:34] Speaker 2: Collins at five, Okay, And I think I love Nico
[17:39] Speaker 2: and another guy that's been more of a pleasant surprise
[17:41] Speaker 2: for me coming from Michigan to what he is as
[17:44] Speaker 2: a pro. And maybe it was just with Stroud that
[17:47] Speaker 2: what he had to this game, but for such a
[17:49] Speaker 2: big guy, another guy that can really get in and
[17:52] Speaker 2: out of his breaks and really one of the true
[17:55] Speaker 2: Xes that we have in the league right now. He
[17:58] Speaker 2: can do a lot like It's not like he's just
[17:59] Speaker 2: like a Mike Williams type where it's like X only
[18:02] Speaker 2: I mean, right here at the first play, you guys
[18:03] Speaker 2: are showing it's from the slot running an over out,
[18:06] Speaker 2: But that actually is what has been such a nice
[18:08] Speaker 2: surprise is how explosive he's been. What he can create
[18:11] Speaker 2: after the catch, what he can adjust for on the catch,
[18:13] Speaker 2: the route running I think is very good. For especially
[18:15] Speaker 2: for a guy how big he is. But I just
[18:18] Speaker 2: I just think how explosive he's been has just been
[18:20] Speaker 2: so like, Wow, I didn't know you had that in you.
[18:22] Speaker 2: But even last year where he was banged up all
[18:24] Speaker 2: that stuff, fourteenth and first downs per route run, ninth
[18:27] Speaker 2: in yards per rout run, fourth and explosive receptions per
[18:30] Speaker 2: route run. So like legitimately explosive as a true X
[18:34] Speaker 2: And if you look at it through the past couple seasons,
[18:37] Speaker 2: he's this is through the last two years, three years,
[18:39] Speaker 2: two years, three years, tw years, three years, last three years,
[18:42] Speaker 2: he's fifth in first downs per route run only behind Pukanakua,
[18:46] Speaker 2: Tyreek Hill, Aman Rossaint Brown and Brandon ayuk Rip and
[18:49] Speaker 2: then second in yards per rout run and second explosives
[18:52] Speaker 2: per rout run. So I think he's awesome. It's more
[18:55] Speaker 2: about health. But if I were starting a team, I
[18:58] Speaker 2: think Nico's a true elite guy and one of the
[19:01] Speaker 2: Leait's skilled players of the week.
[19:03] Speaker 3: Same, I love Nico.
[19:05] Speaker 1: He is he is someone early before you even signed
[19:09] Speaker 1: that long term contract with Huston, I'm like, are people.
[19:11] Speaker 3: Seeing this, Like, Yeah, that's true, I could do anything.
[19:16] Speaker 1: There There is no one at this size who can
[19:19] Speaker 1: run through tackles and he's so good on the inbreakers. Yes,
[19:22] Speaker 1: that moves like this, and I'm just like, are people
[19:24] Speaker 1: seeing this? So I love that we're giving him the
[19:26] Speaker 1: love to put him in the top.
[19:27] Speaker 2: Good Okay, because two years ago, I would say he
[19:29] Speaker 2: got hurt about four or five, six weeks into the season.
[19:32] Speaker 2: But before he got hurt, I was making the case
[19:34] Speaker 2: for him. I was like, he's Offensive Player of the
[19:36] Speaker 2: Year so far, like it was, and so I would
[19:38] Speaker 2: be in twenty twenty four. I was like, this, he's
[19:39] Speaker 2: doing things that are I mean just stat wise and
[19:42] Speaker 2: just eye test wise, like this is a dominant X
[19:45] Speaker 2: receiver that we just don't we don't see that type anymore,
[19:47] Speaker 2: the like Andre Johnson type, which I know Texans that's
[19:51] Speaker 2: kind of a lazy comparison, but like it's a true
[19:53] Speaker 2: X that runs like the true vertical route tree and
[19:56] Speaker 2: like does it well yep.
[19:58] Speaker 1: And that's why Nate Tyson like he's in He's an
[20:00] Speaker 1: old school football guy. He likes old school football players.
[20:03] Speaker 1: I do think Nico would would fit in great in
[20:05] Speaker 1: any era. The stat I like with him last year
[20:09] Speaker 1: was like when opponents blitz he had the highest target
[20:12] Speaker 1: percentage in the NFL because just like he's the guy,
[20:14] Speaker 1: he's the answer if they're sending pressure.
[20:16] Speaker 3: That's where CG. Stroud goes. I love him.
[20:18] Speaker 1: I debated between him and Cede Lamb at five or six.
[20:21] Speaker 1: Those were my five and six, and so you took Nico.
[20:25] Speaker 1: I never I hadn't really made a choice. I'd put
[20:26] Speaker 1: them next to each other on my list. It was like,
[20:28] Speaker 1: we'll see how I feel in the moment, So I
[20:31] Speaker 1: take CD, which I guess if I was like drafting guys,
[20:35] Speaker 1: just if you were building a receiver in a lab
[20:39] Speaker 1: of like what they should look like and kind of
[20:43] Speaker 1: move like on the field, like CD, Lamb would have
[20:45] Speaker 1: an argument to be the number one overall player on
[20:47] Speaker 1: this list just for that of just like.
[20:49] Speaker 2: Just for Worring number eighty eight for the Cowboys, well
[20:51] Speaker 2: that too, just like his movement, his strength, like.
[20:57] Speaker 1: Everything, It's like, well, yeah, like when receivers come out
[21:01] Speaker 1: to me, that's like a prototype, the prototype, especially today
[21:05] Speaker 1: where you know his slot percentage as a pro has
[21:07] Speaker 1: been all over sometimes they've you know, majored in that
[21:10] Speaker 1: last year was a career low, but he's still quite
[21:12] Speaker 1: a bit it's still about a third of the time.
[21:14] Speaker 3: You know, you had that phrase the power slot.
[21:17] Speaker 2: I mean he is, he's the epitome of a power slot.
[21:19] Speaker 1: Yeah, and so you know he but he had more
[21:21] Speaker 1: deep targets than ever last year because that's kind of
[21:23] Speaker 1: what they needed out of him, and he can do
[21:25] Speaker 1: it all and so he to me, just yeah, that's
[21:29] Speaker 1: just that's just sort of what I imagine when I
[21:31] Speaker 1: think why Nico Collins is that.
[21:34] Speaker 2: Yeah, no, CD is I mean Cede Lamb is that sorry, yes,
[21:39] Speaker 2: that no.
[21:39] Speaker 4: No.
[21:39] Speaker 2: But CD two, like you mentioned, could go inside outside.
[21:43] Speaker 2: He's a willing blocker. He doesn't not so much now
[21:46] Speaker 2: because he knows uh well, he will though when they
[21:49] Speaker 2: ask him, which is always something I like. And that's
[21:50] Speaker 2: actually something I like about all the Cowboys receivers with
[21:53] Speaker 2: Flourno in there and then Pickens, they all block. That's
[21:57] Speaker 2: what's actually really cool. And I would even say the
[21:59] Speaker 2: Cowboys have the best receiver trio you can, you know,
[22:01] Speaker 2: Bengals with a receiver duo with the top two guys,
[22:04] Speaker 2: but if you go down to three guys, I think
[22:06] Speaker 2: the Cowboys have the best trio because I'm super high
[22:08] Speaker 2: and Ryan Floorinoy eleventh first downs per outrun by the way,
[22:13] Speaker 2: but it just he's also like twenty seven. But I
[22:16] Speaker 2: do think that Lamb has always just been one of
[22:19] Speaker 2: my favorites. So like even when he was coming out
[22:20] Speaker 2: of college at Oklahoma, I just loved like what he
[22:22] Speaker 2: could do. He was gritty, he's good with the ball
[22:24] Speaker 2: in his hands. He's not the fastest guy, but he
[22:26] Speaker 2: just maximizes it, like he just it's always the body
[22:31] Speaker 2: control of him. The body the contact bounds as well,
[22:34] Speaker 2: can have some frustrating drops at times, but then just
[22:37] Speaker 2: have true I don't know, the toughness stands out more
[22:40] Speaker 2: than anything, which is so funny with those Cowboy number
[22:43] Speaker 2: eighty eight guys like Dez Bryant tough as hell, Michael
[22:45] Speaker 2: Irvin tough as hell, and CD's just kind of the
[22:48] Speaker 2: newer version, like kind of a slimmer, sleeker version of
[22:51] Speaker 2: what those guys were who were just true bullies.
[22:54] Speaker 4: Yeah, he's kind of like a new how he felt
[22:55] Speaker 4: a seventeen, like I can get I never understood that
[22:58] Speaker 4: one felt a twenty just like his profile, like yeah,
[23:02] Speaker 4: like he's overshot that by a million miles.
[23:05] Speaker 3: But even at the time, it was crazy that that's.
[23:08] Speaker 2: And everyone said he loved ball and it was all
[23:10] Speaker 2: about football, and I was like, okay, so he's not
[23:12] Speaker 2: He's not a deva or anything like. I don't know.
[23:14] Speaker 2: I never understood that his was weird to me because.
[23:17] Speaker 1: He was the type before him, like he would have
[23:19] Speaker 1: been a top five Like if you're looking for a
[23:21] Speaker 1: top five type receiver, that's lucky. He made it to
[23:24] Speaker 1: number six on our list number seven is so that
[23:27] Speaker 1: was a I mean, there's different tiers in this. To me,
[23:30] Speaker 1: that was a pretty for me, that was a clear
[23:32] Speaker 1: top six. And then this next group of like five
[23:36] Speaker 1: six guys, I don't know where you're going to go
[23:38] Speaker 1: with this, although you might have tipped your hand a
[23:40] Speaker 1: little bit.
[23:40] Speaker 2: Well, yeah, it's kind of the arguables. It's kind of
[23:43] Speaker 2: like who I want to argue for and whatnot. And
[23:46] Speaker 2: this is this is what's real tough, because again we're
[23:49] Speaker 2: getting into exactly what I would like, but also want
[23:52] Speaker 2: to play into how they're going to play this year
[23:55] Speaker 2: and what I think they how they can perform man,
[24:00] Speaker 2: because I actually I think the guy really wants going
[24:01] Speaker 2: to be there for my next turn, so I'll be okay,
[24:04] Speaker 2: So I'm gonna just go, I think is more or
[24:05] Speaker 2: less the safe pick. I'm gonna draft the offensive guard
[24:08] Speaker 2: of receivers. That's I'm on ral Saint Brown, Yes, the
[24:11] Speaker 2: high floor guy, and it's maybe the guy that is
[24:16] Speaker 2: kind of like the Intercontinental Champ of receivers like I
[24:19] Speaker 2: And I know that sounds so mean, and it was,
[24:22] Speaker 2: like I just it's just like recent quarterback talk. Sometimes
[24:24] Speaker 2: it's kind of like a DAK or something. Whereas I
[24:27] Speaker 2: think he's like the upper tier two guy as opposed
[24:29] Speaker 2: to one of the like dudes. And you mentioned the
[24:31] Speaker 2: cutoff at top five, and I think that's kind of
[24:33] Speaker 2: I agree with that in this next grouping, like Drake
[24:36] Speaker 2: onund is one of the other names I was thinking
[24:37] Speaker 2: about to hear too, because I just love Drake London.
[24:39] Speaker 2: But Saint Brown's just highly productive Bullie ball, another epitome
[24:43] Speaker 2: of a power slot in the modern game, has been
[24:46] Speaker 2: playing more outside and actually been very productive there on
[24:49] Speaker 2: the outside. You can't maybe do some of the other
[24:53] Speaker 2: things that the guys above him could, but the things
[24:55] Speaker 2: he's amazing out and again you guys are showing the
[24:58] Speaker 2: best clips, those inbreakers, the over routes, the crossers. He
[25:02] Speaker 2: is probably the best at that because of that as
[25:03] Speaker 2: he runs an hour route. Oh no, it was a
[25:05] Speaker 2: dig route, yeay, But no, I do think that all
[25:09] Speaker 2: those It's just that's where you see his power in
[25:11] Speaker 2: his body control. Doesn't have elite speed, but he makes
[25:14] Speaker 2: it work because like he's so strong. And also I
[25:17] Speaker 2: just like think he's another guy that gives corners fits,
[25:20] Speaker 2: So like which way's he breaking? Which was he breaking?
[25:22] Speaker 2: Because he never kind of changes height when he's running.
[25:25] Speaker 2: So just a very very very good player. And also
[25:29] Speaker 2: again another guy that's a willing blocker I love to
[25:32] Speaker 2: have on my football team. Like that. I he just
[25:35] Speaker 2: is one of those players like he's gonna give his
[25:37] Speaker 2: all and play a certain way. He's always going to
[25:40] Speaker 2: help you win a football game, even if he doesn't
[25:41] Speaker 2: go for one hundred yards and two touchdowns. Maybe that's
[25:43] Speaker 2: the best way I could describe al Mona rol Saint Brown.
[25:46] Speaker 1: It was down a bit last year, although he didn't
[25:48] Speaker 1: have as many drops as I thought. It was just
[25:51] Speaker 1: he had a couple of high leverage drops that he
[25:53] Speaker 1: had a disaster.
[25:53] Speaker 2: After never having any. That's what That's what it's like.
[25:57] Speaker 3: But he's who you think he is.
[25:59] Speaker 1: You're right when I looked at at the stats deeper,
[26:01] Speaker 1: he had more production from the outside than I realized.
[26:04] Speaker 1: But he also is the like one of the highest
[26:08] Speaker 1: always in third down conversion rate, in third down target
[26:11] Speaker 1: percentage and first down and you know, for his size,
[26:15] Speaker 1: like he's the number one red zone target in the
[26:18] Speaker 1: league in terms of percent like, And so that's why
[26:20] Speaker 1: I struggle with him because I had him next to
[26:23] Speaker 1: and like, in theory, he doesn't do as much about
[26:26] Speaker 1: as the other guys, but in reality they build a
[26:29] Speaker 1: lot of the plane out of him. Yeah, he is
[26:32] Speaker 1: in motion every other like every play, and the offense
[26:36] Speaker 1: is kind of built around him more than anyone else.
[26:39] Speaker 3: So you have to give him credit for that.
[26:41] Speaker 2: That's it. It's it's one of those where I've always
[26:43] Speaker 2: i would say, I've Actually it's funny. With Sam Brown,
[26:45] Speaker 2: I was one of the highest people on him, and
[26:47] Speaker 2: then I was like, all right, everybody, chill out, and
[26:49] Speaker 2: I kind of was like hey, hey, hey, and now
[26:51] Speaker 2: I'm like high on him again because everyone else kind
[26:54] Speaker 2: of dropped on him like kind of like one of
[26:55] Speaker 2: those weird things as I stayed the same on them.
[26:58] Speaker 1: But Daniel Jones, I've always said Daniel Jones with the
[27:02] Speaker 1: right surroundings is gonna be perfectly acceptable, maybe even better
[27:08] Speaker 1: than average starting quarterback.
[27:10] Speaker 3: And just his career, it's like everyone's changed, and just
[27:14] Speaker 3: like he's gonna be fun. Yeah, I'm there, on, I'm on.
[27:16] Speaker 2: Actually, it's kind of like jerk off for me too.
[27:19] Speaker 2: That's that's my version of that. Even as a prospect,
[27:22] Speaker 2: I've just always be like, oh, he's this, and I've
[27:23] Speaker 2: just like never really changed, and it's just everything around
[27:25] Speaker 2: him changes. Every p candidate, Oh he sucks, well, we
[27:28] Speaker 2: gotta trade him. Always great again, but even just stat wise,
[27:32] Speaker 2: and and this is just one thing again, like you mentioned,
[27:34] Speaker 2: receivers are very you know, they're very sensitive to their
[27:39] Speaker 2: situations and surroundings. But fourth and first downs per rout
[27:42] Speaker 2: run just last year on a down year, third success
[27:44] Speaker 2: rate per route run and it's still fifth and explosives
[27:48] Speaker 2: like in fourth and yards per rout run. And if
[27:49] Speaker 2: you look at the last three years, he's top three
[27:51] Speaker 2: and first downs per route run and second and success
[27:54] Speaker 2: rate per out run. So it's super productive and just
[27:57] Speaker 2: very good at what he does.
[27:59] Speaker 1: I think if if he listened to this podcast, he
[28:02] Speaker 1: would think you're saying you're higher than most people on him.
[28:05] Speaker 3: I think he would think we're too low on him.
[28:06] Speaker 2: I think too.
[28:07] Speaker 3: He's a man with a lot of.
[28:08] Speaker 1: Confidence, as he shaid, I will take Drake Lendon off
[28:10] Speaker 1: the board of eight as I had him, and not
[28:12] Speaker 1: as much yak as the other guys. To me, it's
[28:15] Speaker 1: similar to the Nico argument, where when I watch it,
[28:19] Speaker 1: like I know what I'm seeing. He is that guy
[28:21] Speaker 1: and I'm not as worried about the numbers. He's great
[28:24] Speaker 1: on contested catches, although not as good last year. There
[28:27] Speaker 1: was an article by in Atlanta Falcons dot com writer
[28:30] Speaker 1: Tory McIlhaney this week that I thought was great where
[28:34] Speaker 1: he talked about his skill set that he really works
[28:38] Speaker 1: on is how to work with new quarterbacks.
[28:40] Speaker 2: Now.
[28:40] Speaker 1: He's had to practice that a lot, and I really
[28:44] Speaker 1: rate that highly out of him. He's been in such
[28:47] Speaker 1: tricky situations and had to adapt to so many different
[28:50] Speaker 1: offenses and different quarterbacks. That's what you want out of
[28:53] Speaker 1: your number one wide receivers, Like, all right, let's work
[28:56] Speaker 1: on this relationship.
[28:56] Speaker 3: What do you do well? What do I do well?
[28:58] Speaker 1: Let's make it work, and I'm just going to produce,
[29:00] Speaker 1: So I don't care that the numbers aren't there. I
[29:03] Speaker 1: know anyone with eyes know that if he was on
[29:06] Speaker 1: a different team, the numbers would be way better.
[29:08] Speaker 3: So that's not I'm not going to punish him for that.
[29:10] Speaker 3: He's number eight for me.
[29:12] Speaker 2: Yeah, I love Drake London. Also one of those guys
[29:16] Speaker 2: i'd have not that this matters. No one cares. It's
[29:19] Speaker 2: like people talking about their fantsy teams, No one cares.
[29:21] Speaker 2: Had to fight a lot of online battles for when
[29:23] Speaker 2: he was a prospect, and so it's I was very
[29:25] Speaker 2: happy to see how his career has gone. But another
[29:28] Speaker 2: power slot, very very good. Both these guys were teammates
[29:32] Speaker 2: actually a usc Saint Brown and London and Michael Pittman,
[29:35] Speaker 2: who's another great power slot. So they had a type.
[29:40] Speaker 2: But London's just I mean, he's just a unique player
[29:44] Speaker 2: because he's just so like big and fluid. But he
[29:48] Speaker 2: had but he attacks underneath an intermediate like that's what
[29:51] Speaker 2: he's best at, and that's over the middle like as
[29:53] Speaker 2: opposed to maybe just an outside ball winner, though he
[29:55] Speaker 2: can do that. I think it's a guy you always
[29:58] Speaker 2: want to design plays for, which which is the best
[30:02] Speaker 2: thing you can say about somebody where it's like, I
[30:04] Speaker 2: want every third down to go him, to go to
[30:06] Speaker 2: him on the outside. I want every third down to
[30:08] Speaker 2: go to him. Okay, we'll put him on the slot
[30:09] Speaker 2: on this play. A willing blocker just does all the
[30:12] Speaker 2: dirty work stuff you mentioned, all the quarterback situations. He's
[30:15] Speaker 2: gone through, the offensive systems, he's gone through, but just
[30:18] Speaker 2: still producing. Yeah, he's kind of still a little underrated,
[30:22] Speaker 2: I think nationally. And I get we're saying this too
[30:25] Speaker 2: as we draft him number eight. But man, he's just
[30:29] Speaker 2: he's a locked in top ten guy. Yeah, it's eight,
[30:32] Speaker 2: locked in.
[30:33] Speaker 1: And you saw I had my doubts about him coming out.
[30:36] Speaker 1: I remember scouting that class pretty closely at receiver, and
[30:39] Speaker 1: I always try to pat myself on the back that
[30:40] Speaker 1: I had George Pickens second, because like, look, but it's like, actually, no,
[30:44] Speaker 1: there are you know, I had like a LaVey and
[30:46] Speaker 1: Jamison Williams, and I loved a lave too, and Pickins
[30:51] Speaker 1: ahead of him, and I was, you know, ultimately London
[30:53] Speaker 1: is the best player of that group. Although we we'll
[30:55] Speaker 1: probably hear from some of those guys soon enough. All right,
[30:57] Speaker 1: you're up with them or nine?
[30:58] Speaker 2: Oh man, Now we're getting continuing to be in kind
[31:01] Speaker 2: of like what argument I want to make here? All right?
[31:05] Speaker 2: I'm just I said that the guy I want is
[31:08] Speaker 2: going to be there, and and I think he still
[31:10] Speaker 2: might be on my next pick. So I'm gonna go
[31:12] Speaker 2: change here. And this is just gonna be a bullishness
[31:15] Speaker 2: on what I think this pairing is going to be.
[31:17] Speaker 2: And that's that's a J. Brown. Okay, Yes, And I
[31:21] Speaker 2: understand the arguments right now is oh he has slowed down,
[31:24] Speaker 2: Oh he he's.
[31:26] Speaker 3: Got guy Harmon has me a little worried.
[31:28] Speaker 2: You know that.
[31:28] Speaker 1: In the article he wrote after the trade reception perception,
[31:33] Speaker 1: Matt's enjoying a great vacation overseas right now. He can't
[31:36] Speaker 1: defend himself, but I know, yeah, he was like, the
[31:39] Speaker 1: decline is here, just how bad it will be, and
[31:41] Speaker 1: that it hurt my feelings.
[31:42] Speaker 2: And there's I think there that is some some of
[31:45] Speaker 2: that is real, but I don't think it's as extreme.
[31:48] Speaker 2: I do think that is some situational stuff. As far
[31:52] Speaker 2: as the offense get frustrations for the offense. I mean,
[31:55] Speaker 2: he was never public with it, so who knew how
[31:57] Speaker 2: frustrated he was. But I do think that I think
[32:02] Speaker 2: he's going to have a little just for this year,
[32:04] Speaker 2: I'm saying that I do think that he's going to
[32:06] Speaker 2: have like his head on straight relatively, and just also
[32:09] Speaker 2: the quarterback that he's gonna play with is gonna give
[32:11] Speaker 2: him a lot of chances at the football and not
[32:13] Speaker 2: just on go balls and vertical balls, which I think
[32:16] Speaker 2: was just such a cool element that Aj Brown's game
[32:18] Speaker 2: in Philly that he didn't show in Tennessee. In Tennessee,
[32:21] Speaker 2: he was the yak god. It was inbreaker inbreaker inbreaker inbreaker,
[32:25] Speaker 2: over and over and over some out routes, and then
[32:27] Speaker 2: when he gets to it gets to Philly, just all
[32:30] Speaker 2: Jalen Hurts wants to throw a lot of stuff vertical
[32:32] Speaker 2: stop routes to the outside, and you got to see
[32:35] Speaker 2: that former baseball player background. You got to see his
[32:37] Speaker 2: hand eye coronation and his ball skills. And I why
[32:41] Speaker 2: I'm bringing that all up is there's Drake May who
[32:44] Speaker 2: throws all of that. He's willing to rip dig routes,
[32:46] Speaker 2: he's willing to rip rip inbreakers. And even if he
[32:50] Speaker 2: is ninety percent or eighty five percent of what he
[32:53] Speaker 2: was diet Coke Aj Brown, that's still to me a
[32:57] Speaker 2: very dynamic player. Last year, and what is is my
[33:00] Speaker 2: down most down year and years like in Philly at
[33:03] Speaker 2: the very least, still is top fifteen in every underlying
[33:05] Speaker 2: metric that I look at, you know, first downs, all
[33:08] Speaker 2: that stuff, explosives, yards per route round. So still a
[33:11] Speaker 2: top fifteen player. And people were saying, oh, yeah, it's
[33:13] Speaker 2: already down. So say it's not hise hundred percent. Say
[33:16] Speaker 2: last year was his eighty percent, and I think this
[33:18] Speaker 2: year will be something in the middle. To me, that's
[33:20] Speaker 2: a top ten receiver and I think maybe potentially more
[33:22] Speaker 2: because I think May is just gonna pepper the hell
[33:24] Speaker 2: out of them.
[33:25] Speaker 1: I had him tenth, I had DeVante Smith, his old teammate, ninth,
[33:29] Speaker 1: and so I will take him at ten and we
[33:31] Speaker 1: can talk about them a little bit together, because yeah,
[33:33] Speaker 1: aj Brown was like versus man coverage according Next Gen,
[33:37] Speaker 1: like was the best in the league as recently as
[33:38] Speaker 1: twenty twenty four or that was recording Matt Harmon in
[33:41] Speaker 1: terms of winning the route.
[33:42] Speaker 3: So it's like, that's that's very recent.
[33:44] Speaker 1: I am betting I inched DeVante Smith just a little
[33:48] Speaker 1: ahead of him that like it's time he's he's been
[33:51] Speaker 1: a great, great pro and it's time to explode, And
[33:54] Speaker 1: even if the numbers, if Jalen Hurt struggles or whatever
[33:58] Speaker 1: isn't all there, I don't care.
[33:59] Speaker 3: I think he can do it all.
[34:01] Speaker 1: Like his slot percentage has gone up every year of
[34:04] Speaker 1: his career, and yet last year yards per route run
[34:07] Speaker 1: of anyone on the outside in the NFL the only
[34:09] Speaker 1: two guys ahead of DeVante Smith were JSN and Puca.
[34:13] Speaker 1: So that's the company he's keeping. People just don't realize
[34:16] Speaker 1: how strong he is and how good he is on
[34:19] Speaker 1: the sideline. His receptions over expected on sideline routes, which
[34:25] Speaker 1: is a great weird stat. Yeah, I guess I'm fin
[34:27] Speaker 1: You can picture the DeVante Smith. Yeah catches in your mind.
[34:31] Speaker 1: He is who you think he is, is the best
[34:33] Speaker 1: in the NFL since he entered the league. Next Gen
[34:36] Speaker 1: has like he is the best at making tough catches
[34:38] Speaker 1: on the sidelines, and I'm not really finding him lacking
[34:41] Speaker 1: in the rest of his game.
[34:42] Speaker 3: So he's a top ten receiver to me right now.
[34:47] Speaker 2: Again, I feel like I keep saying about these players,
[34:49] Speaker 2: but it's maybe because these are the touts that were
[34:51] Speaker 2: correct for me. But like I mean, obviously he was
[34:53] Speaker 2: the former Heisman winner, all that stuff, I love Davante
[34:56] Speaker 2: because he's you know me, I'm big on soph and
[35:00] Speaker 2: weight thresholds, and I kept calling him the outlier. It's like,
[35:03] Speaker 2: I don't care how much he weighs. I don't care
[35:06] Speaker 2: what he's built like, because this guy's just a football player.
[35:09] Speaker 2: And really he's teach tape as a receiver as far
[35:12] Speaker 2: as his timing on routes, as far as how he
[35:15] Speaker 2: creates a separation, like he never goes rogue. You can
[35:18] Speaker 2: argue a lot of some of the other top receivers
[35:20] Speaker 2: maybe at times cheat on a route and not all Actually,
[35:23] Speaker 2: all these guys I'm talking about are pretty good on it.
[35:25] Speaker 2: But he the details that Smith plays with are so good.
[35:28] Speaker 2: He's so fluid, the ball skills, his arms are like
[35:31] Speaker 2: gumby and he could just reach out and snack stuff.
[35:33] Speaker 2: I'm glad you brought up the outside vertical parts because
[35:36] Speaker 2: I totally agree. Everyone goes why a J. Browns got
[35:38] Speaker 2: They're not gonna do. It's like, no, they had both guys.
[35:40] Speaker 2: That's why it was so dangerous is Jalen could just
[35:43] Speaker 2: pick this matchup and just go with one of them,
[35:45] Speaker 2: a full routree available for him. Even though we don't
[35:48] Speaker 2: always get to see it. Hopefully we get to see
[35:50] Speaker 2: more of that this year. And this is my mean
[35:53] Speaker 2: comment is I think if DeVante Smith played in a
[35:56] Speaker 2: different passing environment, people would appreciate what he is. Because
[35:59] Speaker 2: I agree with this ranking. He was next for me.
[36:02] Speaker 2: That was the guy I was referring to that I
[36:04] Speaker 2: thought I could get next. So yeah, that was yeah.
[36:07] Speaker 2: So I was almost took him there over Brown, so
[36:10] Speaker 2: I had. I think we're kind of all in the
[36:12] Speaker 2: same kind of tier lists here.
[36:13] Speaker 3: So far, it's been a lot of agreement that that's
[36:15] Speaker 3: not great, but but.
[36:17] Speaker 2: No, we're gonna go. I think we're gonna get weird soon.
[36:20] Speaker 2: But no, I think Devanta is awesome. So this was
[36:23] Speaker 2: great downfield stuff. He's actually a willing blocker as well too.
[36:27] Speaker 2: Maybe not the most dynamic yat guy, but he's a
[36:29] Speaker 2: good splitter. I would call it like, you know, catch
[36:32] Speaker 2: and just get north and all that. He kind of
[36:33] Speaker 2: knows what he is and also just awesome. It seems
[36:36] Speaker 2: like an awesome teammate, just awesome guy as well. Yep.
[36:40] Speaker 1: Like if Nate Tice likes a wide receiver who's listed
[36:43] Speaker 1: at one seventy, you know he's got to be a
[36:45] Speaker 1: bad let's take a quick break. Hope we're gonna come back.
[36:48] Speaker 1: That was our top ten receivers. We will draft the
[36:51] Speaker 1: rest after this back on NFL Daily, We've drafted the
[37:02] Speaker 1: ten best receivers unquestioned. No one can doubt our rankings
[37:07] Speaker 1: because we agreed with him pretty much. These top ten guys. Yeah,
[37:10] Speaker 1: I have a tier of about nine or ten more
[37:13] Speaker 1: guys and then actually I feel like it's a big
[37:14] Speaker 1: drop off. But I thought, I don't know where I'm
[37:16] Speaker 1: going to go here. I'm curious where Nate Tice goes
[37:19] Speaker 1: at pick eleven.
[37:21] Speaker 2: I am maybe going to go my first kind of
[37:23] Speaker 2: like I want to say, I'm totally veering to the right,
[37:25] Speaker 2: but maybe just like a little we'll turn here. I'm
[37:29] Speaker 2: going to Teto McMillan. Wo. Yeah, Yeah, he's the real deal.
[37:34] Speaker 2: And I think another one of those. Again, the quarterback
[37:38] Speaker 2: situation kind of defeats or doesn't let you see it
[37:41] Speaker 2: all the time. But I think we saw it enough
[37:44] Speaker 2: last year and obviously offensive work of the year, which
[37:47] Speaker 2: was a football three oh one to out No, but oh,
[37:51] Speaker 2: a top ten receiver, oh, a top ten pick. Oh,
[37:53] Speaker 2: I really want on the limb there but even just
[37:55] Speaker 2: underwing stats, fifteenth of first downs per out run right
[37:58] Speaker 2: beyond Nico Collins was actually tied with Nico Collin. Also
[38:01] Speaker 2: more explosive. And these are the guys I'm always gonna
[38:03] Speaker 2: be high on prospect wise, and why I kind of
[38:07] Speaker 2: wave away maybe some of the like separation concerns how
[38:09] Speaker 2: they with the ball in their hands. He is unbelieved
[38:13] Speaker 2: an unbelievable athlete. He gets the ball in his hands teterolla.
[38:16] Speaker 2: And how fluid he is getting a field, how he
[38:19] Speaker 2: can turn and change direction, like watch him catch like
[38:21] Speaker 2: a stop route on the outside or a hitch, and
[38:23] Speaker 2: how he can like pivot around a defender and create
[38:26] Speaker 2: those yards. Like He's a very good yack guy for
[38:30] Speaker 2: such a big athlete. And also I just think the
[38:34] Speaker 2: competitiveness he has. He had a couple of frustrating drops,
[38:36] Speaker 2: but man, his ball skills got shined, I think throughout
[38:39] Speaker 2: the year. I'm also really high on his teammate Jalen Cocher,
[38:41] Speaker 2: And I'm also really high on the tight end they
[38:43] Speaker 2: have Mitchell evans Y.
[38:44] Speaker 1: Yeah, the list of receivers that are awesome that might
[38:48] Speaker 1: not get drafted here is pretty long, and who knows
[38:51] Speaker 1: Jalen Coker could be in the mix here at the end.
[38:53] Speaker 2: He made my big board. I'm not going to tell
[38:55] Speaker 2: you how long my big board went, but he.
[38:57] Speaker 3: He's on my big board as well. That's wild I had.
[39:00] Speaker 3: I had Temac lower, but I kept inching him up.
[39:03] Speaker 1: And maybe I shouldn't punish saying too much that I
[39:05] Speaker 1: just want to see it like again, because sometimes you
[39:08] Speaker 1: know it's fair.
[39:09] Speaker 3: They've just been through it year after year.
[39:11] Speaker 1: And yet I do love an intermediate slash downfield king
[39:16] Speaker 1: and that's that is what he is. And he could
[39:19] Speaker 1: work with any offense. And he wasn't in the slot much,
[39:23] Speaker 1: but when he did, when he was, he often killed people.
[39:26] Speaker 2: So they started they started moving him there and third down,
[39:29] Speaker 2: they started designing routes for him on third down, and
[39:31] Speaker 2: then Cocher, And this is why Cocher went up in
[39:34] Speaker 2: my head as well. Cocher started lining up on the
[39:36] Speaker 2: outside instead of his power slot. And the fact that
[39:40] Speaker 2: both can do both, that's super interesting. That's where offenses
[39:44] Speaker 2: start cooking is when both receivers, so they can get
[39:47] Speaker 2: to twelve personnel and you can put those guys inside outside.
[39:51] Speaker 2: You can do a lot of cool things when both
[39:53] Speaker 2: guys can do both.
[39:55] Speaker 3: I struggled.
[39:56] Speaker 1: I'm struggling now because I struggled with Garrett Wilson as
[39:59] Speaker 1: a prospect, and at I feel like he deserves to
[40:02] Speaker 1: be drafted around here.
[40:04] Speaker 3: I think I'm just gonna take him.
[40:05] Speaker 2: I don't know what to do with him.
[40:06] Speaker 3: Okay, same here. Actually I'm not gonna take him. I'm
[40:10] Speaker 3: changing my mind.
[40:11] Speaker 2: I can't kill my gut that I should have just
[40:14] Speaker 2: off the board.
[40:14] Speaker 1: For me, he was, he was next on my board,
[40:17] Speaker 1: and if you don't take him with your next pick,
[40:18] Speaker 1: I'm going to take him next time around. But I
[40:19] Speaker 1: gotta go with my gut, which is I still do want.
[40:22] Speaker 1: I want to put George Pickens here.
[40:24] Speaker 2: I know he's next word to God. For me.
[40:27] Speaker 1: It's a little wild, you know, you do kind of
[40:30] Speaker 1: like McMillan, you'd like to see obviously Pickens has been
[40:34] Speaker 1: in the league longer. Yeah, but you'd like to see
[40:36] Speaker 1: him back up that explosion that he had last year.
[40:40] Speaker 1: But man, if you're just talking about last year, the
[40:44] Speaker 1: efficiency with which he got to those numbers, it was
[40:47] Speaker 1: just outrageous. And the thing that stands out to me
[40:50] Speaker 1: with him was he killed some great cornerbacks or very
[40:54] Speaker 1: good cornerbacks. And look he benefited when Ceedee Lamb you know,
[40:58] Speaker 1: is next to him. But he also was incredibly reductive
[41:00] Speaker 1: when CD wasn't. There were two performances I think of
[41:03] Speaker 1: specifically where he just destroyed Jalen Watson, who just got
[41:06] Speaker 1: a nice contract on things.
[41:08] Speaker 3: Just just killed Jalen Watson.
[41:09] Speaker 1: And it was even worse against Mike Jackson, who had
[41:11] Speaker 1: like a great playoffs, had a great season if you
[41:13] Speaker 1: according to PFF, was one of the best. And it's
[41:15] Speaker 1: like when George Pickens was against those two guys who were,
[41:18] Speaker 1: you know, not the biggest guys, he destroyed them. It's
[41:20] Speaker 1: a little bit of a high wire act for him,
[41:22] Speaker 1: but it also was the most consistent playing football. Was
[41:25] Speaker 1: it used to be slant to AJ Brown was the
[41:27] Speaker 1: most consistent, and now it's slanted George Pickens. So I
[41:29] Speaker 1: don't want him to fall any further because he's just
[41:31] Speaker 1: no freak.
[41:32] Speaker 2: I would have taken them if you didn't know, on
[41:33] Speaker 2: my next pick, so I had him at twelve on
[41:35] Speaker 2: my board and he goes twelve. So that was actually
[41:37] Speaker 2: kind of nice. No, he that's it's kind of like
[41:40] Speaker 2: the in between like this, because if you look, stat wise,
[41:42] Speaker 2: he was a top five guy last year, and then
[41:45] Speaker 2: how I rank him in my heads maybe like fifteen.
[41:47] Speaker 2: So here we are twelve. Just another guy that's a
[41:51] Speaker 2: true X and again that's not that's a pretty rare
[41:53] Speaker 2: skill set and always had had excellent ball skills and
[41:58] Speaker 2: just I mean just the body controlled that he can
[42:00] Speaker 2: ask you true Purewetts on the outside. But it was
[42:03] Speaker 2: just always just consistency and keeping his head on straight.
[42:05] Speaker 2: Now I think being around CD and Dak way different
[42:08] Speaker 2: kind of mentality. But we're seeing a little little old
[42:11] Speaker 2: George kind of creep back in. Maybe with this contract talks,
[42:13] Speaker 2: maybe not with publics.
[42:14] Speaker 3: We'll see.
[42:15] Speaker 1: That's yeah, that that probably what knocked him down, just
[42:18] Speaker 1: like the slightest and yet like he's too good of
[42:21] Speaker 1: a player and the like, Yeah, you can pick on
[42:25] Speaker 1: some like run blocking reps or whatever, but the effort
[42:30] Speaker 1: level is through the roof on like the other reps.
[42:33] Speaker 1: So it's not it's not something where I think he's
[42:35] Speaker 1: going to have speed too often. All right, you're up
[42:37] Speaker 1: with thirteen.
[42:38] Speaker 2: All right, this is I have like five candidates. I'thing
[42:42] Speaker 2: okay here, so this is this is tough. I'm going
[42:44] Speaker 2: to just stick with my board. At the top of
[42:45] Speaker 2: that kind of group was chrysl Lave for the Saints.
[42:49] Speaker 2: I think, finally gets to see some health with him,
[42:52] Speaker 2: finally get to see maybe now he's just a competent quarterback,
[42:55] Speaker 2: competent situation around him. And that's not even with a
[42:59] Speaker 2: real deeper room around him. He was kind of on
[43:02] Speaker 2: his own outside some some random touches from other guys.
[43:06] Speaker 2: But Olave's kind of showed last year exactly where I
[43:09] Speaker 2: was highing him. Even in his rookiear, I thought you
[43:11] Speaker 2: should be an offense Rookie of the Year. It's just
[43:13] Speaker 2: wonderful route runner. I mentioned that with jasn A. Lave
[43:17] Speaker 2: is up there too, and Olave has plays bigger than
[43:21] Speaker 2: at times as far as he's comforting. I mean, he
[43:23] Speaker 2: takes a lot of hits now, so it's probably gonna
[43:25] Speaker 2: go away because he's a skinnier guy, you know, not
[43:27] Speaker 2: the strongest guy, but he's tough and willing to get
[43:29] Speaker 2: those stuff, get those things. But I do think that
[43:32] Speaker 2: the route running is just exquisite. I think now with
[43:36] Speaker 2: health and with a better offense, you're actually seeing the
[43:38] Speaker 2: production match what he is able to do as a
[43:40] Speaker 2: route runner. But Yeah, I really like a Lave just overall,
[43:44] Speaker 2: and I think this is kind of a fair spot.
[43:46] Speaker 2: And I just think this year, like Jordan Tyson, might
[43:49] Speaker 2: not have like an outstanding rookie year, but no matter,
[43:51] Speaker 2: what he's going to do is make Alave's life easier.
[43:54] Speaker 2: And I just think another year marinating in this offense
[43:56] Speaker 2: will make his life easier. So, yeah, Chris Alave, I
[43:58] Speaker 2: think is gonna have a real nice here this year. Yeah.
[44:01] Speaker 1: I had him fourteen and he probably would have been
[44:03] Speaker 1: a few spots higher if it just wasn't for he's
[44:06] Speaker 1: had those concussions in these injuries. But the one thing
[44:09] Speaker 1: that I don't think people get about a lobby like
[44:12] Speaker 1: the numbers support what I I think people that are
[44:15] Speaker 1: really into the game would know, which is like, look,
[44:17] Speaker 1: it's a zone league and he is a zone killer.
[44:20] Speaker 1: The part that it was maybe a little surprise to
[44:23] Speaker 1: me is his average one second burst according to next
[44:26] Speaker 1: Gen stats, like moving for one second, who's moving the
[44:30] Speaker 1: fastest in the league, and this has been consistent the
[44:32] Speaker 1: last two seasons. It's him, and it's Alec Pierce, and
[44:36] Speaker 1: it's Marquez Veldez scanting Like his burst is like a
[44:41] Speaker 1: lot of them is running down this long Yeah, and
[44:44] Speaker 1: he can do that too, obviously, but yeah, for him,
[44:46] Speaker 1: it's more just like the one second burst is there
[44:50] Speaker 1: and I and I can see that, and that's why
[44:51] Speaker 1: like a stop route to him is it is hard
[44:54] Speaker 1: to stop and.
[44:56] Speaker 2: It's just the thread of it. It's just like and
[44:58] Speaker 2: he comes out of the break and it's like whoa. Yeah.
[45:00] Speaker 1: That's why I loved him that I had him won
[45:02] Speaker 1: in the class coming out because I was just like,
[45:04] Speaker 1: this has to like this.
[45:06] Speaker 3: There's no way this wouldn't work. And it has worked.
[45:08] Speaker 3: That's what I said.
[45:09] Speaker 1: It just felt extremely safe and you know what, Shuck
[45:12] Speaker 1: is throwing some like inbreakers to him. I think, yes,
[45:14] Speaker 1: Shuck will help open up his game a little bit more.
[45:17] Speaker 2: Other he looked like a pro receiver playing college his
[45:20] Speaker 2: last year, Like he was just so good. It was
[45:22] Speaker 2: for me another guy. And this is the thing. If
[45:25] Speaker 2: I like a receiver under one ninety one ninety five
[45:27] Speaker 2: and I really like him, it's like there's gonna be
[45:30] Speaker 2: something to him. Alive and Devonte Smith are my two
[45:32] Speaker 2: like real big exceptions to that. And it's like, if
[45:34] Speaker 2: I hate a quarterback that's big and fast, then they
[45:36] Speaker 2: must really suck, you know, it's like the opposite of that.
[45:40] Speaker 2: But no a lave, I'm just all safe is a
[45:42] Speaker 2: good way to put it. But I just think he's
[45:45] Speaker 2: just that class. I had London won in a lave
[45:47] Speaker 2: right after him, I went one two. Wilson was the
[45:49] Speaker 2: guy I struggled with the most.
[45:51] Speaker 3: Still talk about it, bro, Let's get right to him.
[45:53] Speaker 2: Yeah's actually that's why I was hoping to segue.
[45:55] Speaker 1: I just I just don't want him to go any further.
[45:58] Speaker 1: And yet I it's okay in Ohio state corner. We're
[46:01] Speaker 1: picking the ones that we want. I'm not sure why
[46:03] Speaker 1: I struggled with him as a prospect. Like Daniel Jeremiah
[46:05] Speaker 1: absolutely loved him, and he's been right, and they've been right,
[46:10] Speaker 1: like considering the situation he has been in. He does
[46:15] Speaker 1: get open. He's been productive. He's gotten over a thousand
[46:19] Speaker 1: yards with bad quarterbacks now. The target share has been huge,
[46:23] Speaker 1: but I give him mostly credit for that. Not as good,
[46:26] Speaker 1: you know, in terms of like contested catches, in yards
[46:28] Speaker 1: per route runs, some of those things. I want to
[46:31] Speaker 1: see it again. He does create separations, so I'm he's
[46:36] Speaker 1: not like Stevie Johnson or something where yeah, but there
[46:39] Speaker 1: is there is a part of him where it's like,
[46:41] Speaker 1: I'm not sure how you do this, but you are
[46:43] Speaker 1: doing it.
[46:43] Speaker 3: And he and he is like an upper tier receiver.
[46:48] Speaker 3: I don't think.
[46:48] Speaker 1: I don't think he you know, he has the quite
[46:50] Speaker 1: the ceiling as the guys in our top twelve, let's say.
[46:54] Speaker 1: But I think he deserves to be in here where yeah,
[46:56] Speaker 1: you're you're a number one receiver because you're in the
[46:58] Speaker 1: top you know, fifty in the NFL.
[47:01] Speaker 3: Garrett Wilson.
[47:02] Speaker 2: Yeah, and that that kind of feels, yeah, we're getting
[47:04] Speaker 2: into the range of him, like where he's that kind
[47:06] Speaker 2: of mid low one. However you wanted to define these things, uh,
[47:10] Speaker 2: you know you, I think Wilson, it's all right. I
[47:12] Speaker 2: put it this way. The other guy's like a Puka,
[47:15] Speaker 2: even JSN. All these guys they can just be the
[47:17] Speaker 2: true one and they don't need a real number two.
[47:19] Speaker 2: They just need auxiliary parts around him, where I think
[47:22] Speaker 2: Garrett Wilson ideally would need another guy like they he
[47:25] Speaker 2: needs another kind of guy to kind of bounce him out.
[47:27] Speaker 2: And that's the tier we're getting into, I think with
[47:29] Speaker 2: all these receivers. Yep. But again, I think this is
[47:31] Speaker 2: a tier that he goes in. He's explosive, quick as
[47:34] Speaker 2: all get out, like he's a creator at receiver. I think,
[47:39] Speaker 2: as my former coach sometimes like knocks him because he's
[47:42] Speaker 2: not the most detailed guy. And I think that's where
[47:44] Speaker 2: Aaron Rodgers soured on him at times, is that he
[47:47] Speaker 2: can just be those guys that are quicker that you know,
[47:50] Speaker 2: with really quick feet, they just don't understand sometimes the
[47:53] Speaker 2: depth that they have to get to on the route,
[47:54] Speaker 2: and they kind of could script all the timing. Obj
[47:57] Speaker 2: was a guy that was I was just gonna say,
[47:59] Speaker 2: like in a purpose, the biggest culprit in the best world.
[48:02] Speaker 3: He's like Obj Malik neighbors maybe a little bit, Yeah.
[48:05] Speaker 2: Yes, yep. Judy is probably the bad example, like that
[48:09] Speaker 2: has more of the where it can go sour and
[48:11] Speaker 2: Judy is probably the worst example. That Amari Cooper as
[48:14] Speaker 2: another one, and I think that's where I can never
[48:17] Speaker 2: just get too high on him because of that. It's
[48:19] Speaker 2: like I understand why in his head and why in
[48:22] Speaker 2: his feel like he's like I'm open, I get open,
[48:24] Speaker 2: I separate here, I'm separating. The timing of my head
[48:27] Speaker 2: makes sense, but maybe not understand the context of the play,
[48:30] Speaker 2: and I think that you have to be so dynamic
[48:32] Speaker 2: like a neighbor's or an obj or Wilson at times
[48:35] Speaker 2: to kind of overcome that a little bit. So, But
[48:37] Speaker 2: I'm not having said that.
[48:38] Speaker 3: Should have taken him later. We're being too negative about
[48:40] Speaker 3: our fourtunes.
[48:41] Speaker 2: I know Garrett, and I know he's a good player,
[48:43] Speaker 2: a guy that I like a lot.
[48:44] Speaker 4: I like.
[48:45] Speaker 2: I don't like the loose jersey when you try to
[48:47] Speaker 2: copy Aaron, but I do like him a lot.
[48:50] Speaker 1: All right, you're up with fifteen. Yeah, you could stay
[48:54] Speaker 1: in Ohio state. Just keep going to Ohio State. Here,
[48:57] Speaker 1: just saying he wanted to create a theme.
[49:00] Speaker 2: I have again, like forty wide receivers I could I
[49:04] Speaker 2: could pick through here. I know I was doing all
[49:08] Speaker 2: that talk about about about your pick without even just
[49:11] Speaker 2: even marinating on who I'm gonna go with. All right,
[49:13] Speaker 2: Can I just merge all the Jaguars receivers into one?
[49:16] Speaker 3: Now?
[49:16] Speaker 2: That would be really nice? And just you know, Brian
[49:19] Speaker 2: Myers Washington.
[49:21] Speaker 3: Something going fifteenth overall would be bold.
[49:24] Speaker 2: No no, no, no, I'm not, but I was just saying,
[49:26] Speaker 2: can I merge them all into one? Because I can't.
[49:27] Speaker 2: I can't even separate them on my list. All right,
[49:29] Speaker 2: we're kind of talking like a guy that's essentially a
[49:34] Speaker 2: low end one, and really but in his role though
[49:37] Speaker 2: he's a high end two. I'm gonna go with T
[49:39] Speaker 2: Higgins and and this might be a little rich compared
[49:43] Speaker 2: to some other guys that are maybe ones in their offense.
[49:46] Speaker 2: You know, I can make like a DK Metcalf. There
[49:49] Speaker 2: maybe a couple of guys that might be productive this year,
[49:51] Speaker 2: but T Higgins and a lot of other offenses would
[49:53] Speaker 2: just be the true bluejue getting a heapload of targets
[49:56] Speaker 2: and a guy that we considered even better than he is.
[49:58] Speaker 2: I think production wise, he kind of always ends up
[50:01] Speaker 2: getting knocked a little bit because it's just where the
[50:03] Speaker 2: when it's pro routes around, he's running route, knocking the
[50:05] Speaker 2: ball might get knocked a little bit. But even if
[50:08] Speaker 2: you just look like he still is a very productive
[50:11] Speaker 2: receiver that really can take over games at time. Like
[50:13] Speaker 2: there's times that Higgins is unguardable depending on who they're
[50:16] Speaker 2: playing against. And again, like I said, would be considered
[50:19] Speaker 2: a true X, a true guy that everyone's like, oh yeah,
[50:22] Speaker 2: this is a number one guy. But just because of
[50:24] Speaker 2: the offense is not considered that, but yeah, T Higgins
[50:27] Speaker 2: another guy that verticalness more health than anything with him,
[50:31] Speaker 2: but he's in the prime of his career, and yeah,
[50:34] Speaker 2: I think this kind of range, it's a little rich.
[50:37] Speaker 2: There's some other guys I like, but this is more
[50:39] Speaker 2: going with my heart here.
[50:39] Speaker 3: I have a very solid top twenty and he was
[50:42] Speaker 3: firmly in it. We have similar taste.
[50:45] Speaker 1: He's of like contested catches is a hard skill to
[50:49] Speaker 1: replicate year after year, but it's in the numbers. He
[50:53] Speaker 1: is a volume contested catch guy and he so he
[50:56] Speaker 1: is like a three point shooter who not only is
[51:00] Speaker 1: you know, shooting forty percent or whatever is as much higher,
[51:04] Speaker 1: but that he they're throwing him like, he's also shooting
[51:08] Speaker 1: more than everyone else, and he does it year after year.
[51:10] Speaker 1: There's actually only a couple of those guys in the NFL,
[51:13] Speaker 1: and the numbers always say like his on off splits
[51:16] Speaker 1: are crazy with the Bengals, like they are just not
[51:18] Speaker 1: the same without him. When Jamar Chase is not there,
[51:21] Speaker 1: and he's there for what it's worth, like it's tended
[51:24] Speaker 1: to go almost better for him than when it's vice versa.
[51:27] Speaker 1: I don't think obviously he's a better player, but I
[51:29] Speaker 1: think that just speaks to how valuable he could be
[51:32] Speaker 1: if he just got the ball more. So, Yeah, there's
[51:34] Speaker 1: some I think that there was a game against the
[51:36] Speaker 1: Bills last year where he was just dunking on Hairston
[51:39] Speaker 1: and Tredavious White when sometimes he gets those matchups.
[51:42] Speaker 3: That's to your point about like he can just take
[51:44] Speaker 3: over an entire Yeah.
[51:45] Speaker 2: He's he's the high and number two. It's like, how
[51:48] Speaker 2: many teams have a guy that can match up with
[51:50] Speaker 2: him and the ones that don't, they just punish it, like, yeah, so.
[51:54] Speaker 1: My sixteenth over opick and this might be higher than
[51:57] Speaker 1: you had him because I think people are thinking he's
[51:59] Speaker 1: getting older. As great as T Higgins is uncontested catches,
[52:04] Speaker 1: the contested catch god for his generation quietly is Terry McLaurin.
[52:09] Speaker 3: Terry McLaurin, I mean, and I don't want to over
[52:12] Speaker 3: punish him.
[52:12] Speaker 1: He's turning thirty one this year, yes, and he missed
[52:15] Speaker 1: games for the first time, but he's always been.
[52:17] Speaker 3: So durable When he actually played.
[52:20] Speaker 1: Last year, he had the highest yards per rout run
[52:22] Speaker 1: of his career and they needed him to go deep
[52:24] Speaker 1: a lot, and so he went deep a lot, and
[52:26] Speaker 1: my eyes told me he's still got the juice. He
[52:29] Speaker 1: is probably the only player in the NFL that caught
[52:32] Speaker 1: a touchdown and a deep pass off Patrick's Artan last year.
[52:35] Speaker 1: That impressed me just in that game, like he got
[52:37] Speaker 1: I mean, Thirtan won his share of that battle, but
[52:40] Speaker 1: the fact that it was a battle. And he's someone
[52:42] Speaker 1: I checked some like old notes occasionally for this exercise,
[52:46] Speaker 1: and they didn't move him around at all with Cliff,
[52:49] Speaker 1: But he is the type of guy that for whatever
[52:51] Speaker 1: reason in my notes, I just write, Terry McLaurin is
[52:54] Speaker 1: so good, like Terry McLaurin is the man. He's so good,
[52:57] Speaker 1: and so I just if it's my team, I didn't
[53:00] Speaker 1: want him to slip any further than this.
[53:03] Speaker 2: And just also like perfect for Jane Daniels, because Jane
[53:06] Speaker 2: Daniels like the pepper those throws on the outside, and
[53:08] Speaker 2: it was just perfect for him. No, but it's like
[53:11] Speaker 2: you said, you mentioned some of these guys that contested
[53:13] Speaker 2: catches are sticky and can do it. You're and he
[53:16] Speaker 2: is a guy doesn't matter who's throwing, It doesn't matter
[53:18] Speaker 2: who's whipping the ball over his way. He's acoustically, he.
[53:21] Speaker 3: Might be the guy of his generation.
[53:22] Speaker 1: Not quite as much volume as some of the other
[53:24] Speaker 1: bigger dudes, but in terms of like efficiency and making
[53:28] Speaker 1: it happen when they throw it to him, he makes
[53:31] Speaker 1: it happen.
[53:31] Speaker 2: Yep, he does. And also because I have to mention it,
[53:34] Speaker 2: fantastic blocker, one of the better, one of the better
[53:37] Speaker 2: ones actually big. Yeah, I know there's something to it.
[53:42] Speaker 2: Have you noticed a lot of these guys that are
[53:43] Speaker 2: really good receivers are also some of the best blockers too.
[53:46] Speaker 2: There's something to that. I don't know, there's something to it.
[53:50] Speaker 2: I wonder how many are left handed? Have ever told
[53:52] Speaker 2: you that theory no more pass catchers are left handed
[53:56] Speaker 2: than like when you compare it maybe to average population
[53:59] Speaker 2: whatever that is one in five. I'm convinced that there's
[54:02] Speaker 2: more more pass catchers are left handed. Drake London's left handed.
[54:06] Speaker 3: It's definitely more Ohio State products.
[54:08] Speaker 2: That's four, right, Yeah, I still got I potentially go.
[54:13] Speaker 2: Bookie can still go now, that will still go. That's four,
[54:17] Speaker 2: but we're still get to maybe two more. Wow. Okay,
[54:20] Speaker 2: and again we're.
[54:22] Speaker 3: Picking this season this season only I have a very
[54:28] Speaker 3: solid top twenty.
[54:29] Speaker 1: We have knock gone outside it Yet t Mac was
[54:32] Speaker 1: the most off of my board, but I still had
[54:34] Speaker 1: him like eighteen, so it wasn't that crazy.
[54:36] Speaker 2: I would say t Mac was probably the one, but
[54:39] Speaker 2: it wasn't that much. Yeah, it was like when I
[54:40] Speaker 2: remember I had a big group of the next that
[54:43] Speaker 2: he was in it. So yeah, again, I would say
[54:44] Speaker 2: I would say my next group went from like fourteen
[54:47] Speaker 2: to like twenty two.
[54:48] Speaker 3: I would say this next tier, you're up with seventeen.
[54:52] Speaker 2: I know, and I'm stalling as I as I look
[54:55] Speaker 2: through a few. All right, you know what, I do
[54:57] Speaker 2: think he's gonna have a big year. And again we're
[54:59] Speaker 2: getting into this range where it's maybe low end one,
[55:03] Speaker 2: high end two range. And maybe that's just me limiting
[55:05] Speaker 2: myself because there's some others I want to throw in here.
[55:07] Speaker 2: But I'm gonna go with John Waddle. I'm gonna go
[55:10] Speaker 2: with Yeah, super productive, always wings on the field, it's
[55:12] Speaker 2: always health. Because he's not the biggest guy. I think
[55:15] Speaker 2: he's in line for a big year. It's exactly. I
[55:18] Speaker 2: love that trade. I thought the Bronx, I mean that
[55:20] Speaker 2: was I don't love trading for receivers for everybody, but
[55:24] Speaker 2: for the Broncos and this year and what they're trying
[55:26] Speaker 2: to be in a wide open AFC, Yeah, go for it.
[55:28] Speaker 2: And what they need creating explosive plays. They've tried designer
[55:32] Speaker 2: plays to Marvin Mims. Let's get a guy that just
[55:34] Speaker 2: doesn't need it all to be designer and can turn
[55:37] Speaker 2: any literally any play and take it to the house.
[55:39] Speaker 2: And a team that loves running screens, whether because Seampayne
[55:43] Speaker 2: likes him or Bonix prefers to throw a lot of screens. Well, okay,
[55:47] Speaker 2: let's weaponize it and has guys and also for an
[55:50] Speaker 2: undersized guy, has beef around him, Pat Bryant, Courtland Sutton,
[55:57] Speaker 2: and that's also what I think is gonna help too.
[55:58] Speaker 2: So now he's got Sutton, who again is more of
[56:01] Speaker 2: a high high end two to me than than a
[56:03] Speaker 2: true one like in a perfect world, and that's why
[56:05] Speaker 2: you pair these two together. But I think he's in
[56:07] Speaker 2: the line for a big season. Again, it's just always
[56:10] Speaker 2: staying on the field for him. But man, Jalen Wattle,
[56:12] Speaker 2: he now what a Now we're getting to the range
[56:15] Speaker 2: of more good great. He's one of the other guys
[56:18] Speaker 2: that's truly game breaking, like can actually take over a
[56:21] Speaker 2: game so that if you kind of knows these guys
[56:23] Speaker 2: I'm going towards. It's more like chasing the highs of
[56:26] Speaker 2: these players that are more super super super super role players.
[56:29] Speaker 1: I guess they They asked him this week, what are
[56:32] Speaker 1: you going to bring to the Broncos, And he was
[56:34] Speaker 1: just like speed, speed and speed, Like he knows, he
[56:37] Speaker 1: knows his game. He's great on verticals, he's great on
[56:40] Speaker 1: yak He's probably the best player on in this draft
[56:43] Speaker 1: that you could you could call a jitterbug, you know, Yeah,
[56:46] Speaker 1: a little bit of a jitterbug. And look, the production
[56:48] Speaker 1: hasn't been crazy. Four of his five years it's been
[56:52] Speaker 1: either right out of thousand or lower. And yet I
[56:55] Speaker 1: am very confident he is what they need and it's gonna.
[56:58] Speaker 2: Be team and first downs per route run over the
[57:01] Speaker 2: last three years, just behind DeVante Adams, just above Justin
[57:05] Speaker 2: Jefferson and JSN.
[57:07] Speaker 1: And no surprise that when Tyreek Hill got hurt last year,
[57:10] Speaker 1: like after that, he had I think one of the
[57:12] Speaker 1: highest percentages of air yards event.
[57:15] Speaker 3: You know, he can carry carry an offense he needs.
[57:17] Speaker 2: To, all right, That's the one that surprised me the
[57:21] Speaker 2: most of my own surprise. You Yeah, I'm surprised. I
[57:25] Speaker 2: kind of went with well, I ended up going with Waddle,
[57:27] Speaker 2: But I think this is the proper range for him.
[57:29] Speaker 1: Yeah, my next two players were DK Metcalf and Jalen Wattle.
[57:33] Speaker 1: I had metaf ahead of him, the complete opposite, just
[57:35] Speaker 1: the other guy I was taking up too. Yeah, we're opposite.
[57:39] Speaker 1: And at a certain point in the Dk Metcalf development,
[57:44] Speaker 1: we probably overrated his development, like, hey, he's not just
[57:48] Speaker 1: this like he can. He's started to develop more than
[57:51] Speaker 1: he was as a prospect, and maybe that's that's true.
[57:54] Speaker 1: But what he does dunking on peoples, as you would say,
[57:58] Speaker 1: and if he's not a totally complete guy, that that's fine.
[58:01] Speaker 1: He was stuck with Aaron Rodgers. He's he still is
[58:04] Speaker 1: like you want him as a deep threat and it
[58:07] Speaker 1: doesn't work as well.
[58:08] Speaker 3: But that's not his fault.
[58:10] Speaker 1: And if you actually look at what the Steelers' numbers
[58:12] Speaker 1: last year, I know on off splits can be a
[58:14] Speaker 1: little noisy, but with when he wasn't on the field,
[58:18] Speaker 1: he just missed him right.
[58:20] Speaker 3: It was it was over. So his gravity is really
[58:24] Speaker 3: important in this ranking.
[58:27] Speaker 1: Uh, you know, your boy Arthur Smith really didn't help
[58:29] Speaker 1: him out and so I feel good, Like, again, yeah,
[58:32] Speaker 1: he's not one of the I think people who are
[58:35] Speaker 1: hoping maybe he would become a top five to ten
[58:37] Speaker 1: receiver and he's not that guy.
[58:38] Speaker 3: It doesn't matter. He's extremely valuable for what he does.
[58:42] Speaker 2: No, I think this is I've never I've never been
[58:46] Speaker 2: the highest guy in DK because I think people misconstrue
[58:48] Speaker 2: how he plays. You know, I think you see him
[58:51] Speaker 2: and George Pickens 're like, yeah, yeah, two dunk artists.
[58:54] Speaker 2: It's like, well he's more catching run and then a
[58:57] Speaker 2: slank guy, you know, DK is. And it's funny because
[59:01] Speaker 2: you mentioned the on off splits, which is I I
[59:03] Speaker 2: during the season, I looked that up. It was atrocious
[59:05] Speaker 2: when he wasn't on the field, and the same thing
[59:07] Speaker 2: was in that offense or in that in that ecosystem,
[59:10] Speaker 2: I should say the year before with Pickens when he
[59:12] Speaker 2: was still a Steelers, Like, when he was on the field,
[59:14] Speaker 2: it's like, oh yeah, a pretty good offense off the
[59:15] Speaker 2: field the worst offense in the league right that they
[59:17] Speaker 2: couldn't do it, can't do a single thing. So it
[59:19] Speaker 2: kind of funny it carried over for two years. No,
[59:22] Speaker 2: I think that's I think this is a proper spot
[59:25] Speaker 2: for him. Like I said, he was right. He was
[59:27] Speaker 2: the guy I was debating was Waddle or DK Metcalf
[59:30] Speaker 2: with those two, So you kind of ended up going
[59:32] Speaker 2: exactly where.
[59:32] Speaker 1: Right, And yeah, I wish I wish he had a
[59:34] Speaker 1: different quarterback this year. But I do have some hopes
[59:36] Speaker 1: for the Mike McCarthy Steelers offense. And I do feel
[59:39] Speaker 1: like I'm a little higher on the Steelers in general
[59:43] Speaker 1: than consensus.
[59:43] Speaker 3: All Right, you're up, You're up on nineteen.
[59:46] Speaker 2: I'm gonna put a pin in that Steelers conversation. I'm
[59:50] Speaker 2: still it's the quarterback, man, it's the quarterback.
[59:53] Speaker 3: Yeah, that's it.
[59:53] Speaker 2: But I actually think which could be, which is funny
[59:56] Speaker 2: because I think I think most people don't think that's
[59:58] Speaker 2: the thing that's limiting it. It's like, no, at least
[1:00:02] Speaker 2: for me, No, I do I agree. I think defense
[1:00:05] Speaker 2: pretty good. I think the old line is gonna be good.
[1:00:07] Speaker 2: I think the run game will be good. Uh and
[1:00:10] Speaker 2: like the weapons are actually solid, Like you know, I'm
[1:00:13] Speaker 2: right there with you.
[1:00:16] Speaker 4: Man.
[1:00:16] Speaker 2: Again, I have a little tear break here. And there's
[1:00:19] Speaker 2: two teammates I'm actually designed between because one it's more
[1:00:22] Speaker 2: am I betting the disco stew stock up or one.
[1:00:24] Speaker 2: I'm just saying, I'm betting the respect of what he is.
[1:00:27] Speaker 2: Do you know those teammates are they're playing there? All right,
[1:00:33] Speaker 2: maybe I'm gonna go with a Meccabuka here.
[1:00:36] Speaker 3: Okay, those weren't the teammates.
[1:00:37] Speaker 2: Okay, Chris Godwin Junior was the teammate.
[1:00:39] Speaker 3: I was thinking, Oh, okay, interesting, it was a.
[1:00:42] Speaker 2: Little rich for Godwin Jr. But I do feel like
[1:00:43] Speaker 2: he has to be you have to be talked about
[1:00:45] Speaker 2: somewhere soon.
[1:00:46] Speaker 3: Okay.
[1:00:47] Speaker 2: Now I'm gonna with the Mechouka. And there's a lot
[1:00:49] Speaker 2: of guys I'm considering here, like even like a Rashi Rice.
[1:00:52] Speaker 2: I actually think even with all.
[1:00:53] Speaker 3: His crap, is where we're gonna start differing.
[1:00:57] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, good, And this was gonna be fine. But
[1:00:59] Speaker 2: Mechua and this betting on the flashes they showed yes
[1:01:02] Speaker 2: or last year, which was like contender for Offensive Rookie
[1:01:05] Speaker 2: of the Year. Every fantasy guy saying, wow, you guys
[1:01:08] Speaker 2: were all wrong. Look how right I am. Look at
[1:01:11] Speaker 2: my Dynasty Dynasty team. I can't believe I have a
[1:01:14] Speaker 2: Mecca Buca. Look at these stat analysis about how wrong
[1:01:17] Speaker 2: you guys are? They got banged up and hurt like
[1:01:19] Speaker 2: everybody else with the Bucks. But I think he's gonna
[1:01:22] Speaker 2: be a locked in top twenty receiver for the rest
[1:01:24] Speaker 2: of his career. I think, extremely high floor player, but
[1:01:29] Speaker 2: showed last year he has more ceiling, much like his
[1:01:31] Speaker 2: teammate Chris Godwin did when he entered the league and
[1:01:34] Speaker 2: became pro. I think, just does it all comply on
[1:01:37] Speaker 2: the slot, combine on the outside. Every route's available to him.
[1:01:40] Speaker 2: Like I mentioned before, it's just I think him having
[1:01:42] Speaker 2: a little bit the Seattle game is maybe doing a
[1:01:44] Speaker 2: lot in my head, but it's one of those where
[1:01:47] Speaker 2: Heat showed that he can do more than I think.
[1:01:49] Speaker 2: Maybe he even showed at college, you know, underlying stats
[1:01:53] Speaker 2: were more kind of middle of the pack, but he
[1:01:55] Speaker 2: did have a lot of explosives, which again is kind
[1:01:57] Speaker 2: of what I'm speaking to as well. But I do
[1:01:59] Speaker 2: think that as he even becomes more professor or as
[1:02:01] Speaker 2: his pro career goes along the rest of the Bucks
[1:02:03] Speaker 2: offense stays healthy on top of his health and whatever
[1:02:07] Speaker 2: happens with Baker or beyond, I still think he can
[1:02:09] Speaker 2: be a productive guy. So I'm just throwing a mecho
[1:02:11] Speaker 2: BOOKI here, and maybe it's just I want to make
[1:02:13] Speaker 2: an argument for him more than other guys, even if
[1:02:16] Speaker 2: I do like a couple of the other guys that
[1:02:17] Speaker 2: we can talk about soon. Yeah.
[1:02:19] Speaker 1: Mina Kime's our friend who just did the show with
[1:02:23] Speaker 1: last week. In terms of the best offenses, she talked
[1:02:26] Speaker 1: about Abuka at length, and so I'm going to steal
[1:02:28] Speaker 1: some of her notes because I was just like, well,
[1:02:30] Speaker 1: that makes sense, well that he was just great, you know,
[1:02:32] Speaker 1: versus zone coverage when he had off coverage. The numbers
[1:02:35] Speaker 1: are great, but team started pressing him. He didn't handle
[1:02:38] Speaker 1: that as well. I had him lower, I had him
[1:02:42] Speaker 1: twenty fifth, but they talked about moving him around as
[1:02:45] Speaker 1: a ze.
[1:02:46] Speaker 3: It's not that that much different here to me. I
[1:02:48] Speaker 3: guess I want to see the ceiling.
[1:02:51] Speaker 1: There were some drops, you know, he struggled a little
[1:02:53] Speaker 1: bit in the contested catches. So I did have two
[1:02:56] Speaker 1: more guys in my I thought for me, I had
[1:02:59] Speaker 1: a Heier top twenty which was pretty clear, and I
[1:03:02] Speaker 1: had two more guys in it. And I'm just gonna
[1:03:05] Speaker 1: go with my gut right here and go for the
[1:03:07] Speaker 1: high ceiling. And that is a man you mentioned earlier,
[1:03:10] Speaker 1: a man.
[1:03:11] Speaker 2: This is hard. It is hard. I know there's a
[1:03:14] Speaker 2: lot of flavors.
[1:03:14] Speaker 4: I can go.
[1:03:17] Speaker 3: Screw its. Fit's my team.
[1:03:18] Speaker 1: I'm taking Brian Thomas Jor Like it's always been about.
[1:03:22] Speaker 1: It's always been about the eye test for me. With him,
[1:03:24] Speaker 1: there's only so many humans because.
[1:03:26] Speaker 2: He moves different. Because he moves, he moves different. I
[1:03:28] Speaker 2: get it in his head.
[1:03:30] Speaker 1: Last year he can get out of his head. He
[1:03:32] Speaker 1: was got in his head, and now he can get
[1:03:34] Speaker 1: out of his head. He played more slot when Jacoby
[1:03:37] Speaker 1: Myers arrived, which was surprising, and he just it was
[1:03:40] Speaker 1: he just he did not pick up that offense period.
[1:03:43] Speaker 3: I think it was pretty obvious a mental thing, yep.
[1:03:49] Speaker 3: I think he can get over that and then we
[1:03:52] Speaker 3: get back.
[1:03:52] Speaker 1: To where closer to where he was as a rookie,
[1:03:55] Speaker 1: where he had more deep receiving yards than any rookie
[1:03:57] Speaker 1: in a long time other than Jamar Chase and the
[1:04:00] Speaker 1: way that he moves. I know the YAK was down
[1:04:02] Speaker 1: last year, but to me, if I'm at this point
[1:04:04] Speaker 1: in the draft, I'm I want a guy that has
[1:04:06] Speaker 1: a Is there anyone left that could be a top
[1:04:09] Speaker 1: like eight receiver? And Brian Thomas Junior to me is
[1:04:13] Speaker 1: maybe that guy. Possibly like he's he's got to respond.
[1:04:17] Speaker 2: I could maybe like there's a there's a there's a timeline.
[1:04:20] Speaker 2: I could argue, but you know, it depends what you're
[1:04:22] Speaker 2: going for.
[1:04:22] Speaker 3: That's what I'm going for. If it was my team,
[1:04:24] Speaker 3: I would just take him.
[1:04:25] Speaker 2: So we did on the Football three one last year
[1:04:28] Speaker 2: we did we all drafted or we just ranked our
[1:04:30] Speaker 2: top ten receivers. I think I had BTJ at ten
[1:04:33] Speaker 2: just because I was like, hey, disco step Graft going
[1:04:36] Speaker 2: up forever, let's do this and and what you said
[1:04:39] Speaker 2: the eye test, he moves different, like I you don't
[1:04:42] Speaker 2: see six four guys with that that those type of
[1:04:44] Speaker 2: feet like and the guy that can run. It's just
[1:04:46] Speaker 2: more his hands. It's the good feet. The hands are
[1:04:49] Speaker 2: a little inconsistent. But I agree he was swimming last year.
[1:04:52] Speaker 2: And that's where the Jacoby Myers trade wasn't just roll stuff.
[1:04:55] Speaker 2: It was Jacoby I think calmed him down mentally. Okay,
[1:04:58] Speaker 2: now we can just have Beach run nothing but outbreakers
[1:05:01] Speaker 2: as opposed to any any inme breakers like that. That
[1:05:04] Speaker 2: was what was bugget. Or we'll just have Jacoby run
[1:05:06] Speaker 2: the in breakers now. So if you are betting on
[1:05:09] Speaker 2: just like, hey, how he shored up in the you know,
[1:05:11] Speaker 2: maybe after week ten, after Jacoby Myers got there, then yeah,
[1:05:14] Speaker 2: I can bet that because the talent's there. It's just right. Yeah,
[1:05:17] Speaker 2: like you said, getting the head on straight, because but
[1:05:19] Speaker 2: if you touch his talent, that's a top ten guy.
[1:05:21] Speaker 1: It's it's very self selecting in terms of what off
[1:05:24] Speaker 1: season storylines you'll will believe in. Yeah, yeah, yeah, But
[1:05:27] Speaker 1: since it's confirming my priors. John Shipley does a great
[1:05:30] Speaker 1: job covering the Jaguar.
[1:05:32] Speaker 2: Is exactly what you're gonna talk about. And the ship
[1:05:34] Speaker 2: said he's been dominant, right yeah.
[1:05:36] Speaker 1: And he said last offseason that Brian Thomas Jr. Was
[1:05:39] Speaker 1: struggling in the off season, and so that's why you
[1:05:41] Speaker 1: have reporters on the ground, and so I'm willing to
[1:05:44] Speaker 1: buy this Brian Thomas Jr.
[1:05:46] Speaker 3: Is dominant here in year two of Liam cohe.
[1:05:48] Speaker 1: Let's take a break where you will wrap up with
[1:05:50] Speaker 1: our final twelve receivers in We Love Ball here at
[1:06:01] Speaker 1: NFL Daily. Our guest Loveball, our co host Loveball. I
[1:06:05] Speaker 1: don't know if anyone loves ball more than Nate Tice.
[1:06:09] Speaker 1: I mean, even during the break of this show, we're
[1:06:12] Speaker 1: talking about how complex the Jaguars offensive. He just can't
[1:06:16] Speaker 1: stop talking ball. He knows ball. And I've got a
[1:06:21] Speaker 1: two part question here. Because you're up with twenty one,
[1:06:24] Speaker 1: doesn't have to be your pick. I felt like I
[1:06:26] Speaker 1: had a solid top twenty before it just got really messy.
[1:06:32] Speaker 1: There's only one player left on my board that's in
[1:06:34] Speaker 1: that top tier. Doesn't have to be your pick. Can
[1:06:37] Speaker 1: you guess who that player is? And is it your pick?
[1:06:40] Speaker 1: We'll see maybe. I don't know if even that would
[1:06:42] Speaker 1: be a different answer.
[1:06:44] Speaker 2: How you've been going. I don't think it would be
[1:06:46] Speaker 2: the one that came to mind at first. Is it?
[1:06:50] Speaker 2: I have two that come to mind? Okay, right, it's not.
[1:06:54] Speaker 2: Is it DJ Moore? No? You have the bills? Okay?
[1:06:56] Speaker 2: Is it DeVante Adams?
[1:06:58] Speaker 4: No?
[1:06:58] Speaker 2: Okay?
[1:07:00] Speaker 3: As much your pick and I'll revie alright Adams? Okay?
[1:07:04] Speaker 2: And this is a sheear just this year production designated
[1:07:07] Speaker 2: hitter wash him score fifteen touchdowns. He might not break
[1:07:10] Speaker 2: a thousand yards, but he's gonna be highly productive on
[1:07:13] Speaker 2: his touches, but still highly productive on his touches. He
[1:07:16] Speaker 2: is thirty four this year, thirty thirty thirty four. This
[1:07:20] Speaker 2: is my serious pick. This is this is this is
[1:07:23] Speaker 2: a red flag year, and this is my honorary I
[1:07:26] Speaker 2: just if it does hit. If he does play fourteen
[1:07:29] Speaker 2: games and averages a touchdown a game, yeah we're great.
[1:07:32] Speaker 2: So but even if he does the flate a little
[1:07:34] Speaker 2: bit when those stats and is just a little less productive,
[1:07:37] Speaker 2: I still think that he could be a top twenty
[1:07:39] Speaker 2: as far as just production wise. Last year fifth and
[1:07:42] Speaker 2: first downs per route run top twenty and everything else,
[1:07:45] Speaker 2: and on top of it, just had touchdown after touchdown
[1:07:48] Speaker 2: even was a at least for the first month, was
[1:07:51] Speaker 2: trying to block a little bit make Sean McVay happy,
[1:07:53] Speaker 2: and then he was like, a my hamstring hurts. Nevermind,
[1:07:55] Speaker 2: we're not doing that again. But this is some honorary
[1:07:59] Speaker 2: selection here. But I do think he'll be productive when
[1:08:01] Speaker 2: he is on the field, even if they lean towards
[1:08:03] Speaker 2: more tight ends and pukku and all that good stuff.
[1:08:05] Speaker 1: The highest average up to the target of his career,
[1:08:07] Speaker 1: despite being that red zone merchant, which is a a
[1:08:11] Speaker 1: weird combo, a little bit of a red flag to me,
[1:08:15] Speaker 1: they sounded like okay with possibly trading him this year.
[1:08:19] Speaker 1: There was also a stat on next Gen. Yeah, it
[1:08:22] Speaker 1: sounded like you know, if they were going to try
[1:08:24] Speaker 1: to bring in a J.
[1:08:24] Speaker 3: Brown DeVante Adams, oh got somewhere else and granted you
[1:08:28] Speaker 3: replace him with a J. Brown.
[1:08:29] Speaker 1: Still, you know, sometimes he stopped pretty favorable coverage. He
[1:08:35] Speaker 1: didn't always make it count. There was a stat from
[1:08:39] Speaker 1: next Gen that the only the only game or maybe
[1:08:42] Speaker 1: it was the most snaps one cornerback played against one
[1:08:46] Speaker 1: wide receiver where every single snap of the game was
[1:08:49] Speaker 1: one cornerback against one receiver all season was Nate Wiggins
[1:08:52] Speaker 1: against DeVante Adams, and he didn't make him pay at all.
[1:08:54] Speaker 3: It was just all Nate Wiggins all the time.
[1:08:56] Speaker 1: And he caught like one pass for five yards or something,
[1:08:59] Speaker 1: had a long Yeah, but there were some drops. I mean, look,
[1:09:03] Speaker 1: I have DeVante Adams on my list. He was a
[1:09:05] Speaker 1: little bit lower, but just some red flags. But he's
[1:09:07] Speaker 1: either going to be a great pick or a bad pick.
[1:09:09] Speaker 1: Like he might be much better than this.
[1:09:11] Speaker 2: That's the other guy smacked deb in the middle for me,
[1:09:13] Speaker 2: yea twenty one or is fair middle ish.
[1:09:16] Speaker 1: The other guy that I thought really deserved to be
[1:09:19] Speaker 1: in my tier was lad mcconkeye. Okay, I get the
[1:09:23] Speaker 1: injury stuff for us, he would be higher it's like
[1:09:25] Speaker 1: that's the concern is he didn't hold up through games.
[1:09:28] Speaker 1: Because when I talked about Brian Thomas Jr. Is there
[1:09:30] Speaker 1: a route to him being a top ten receiver. I
[1:09:32] Speaker 1: think that's true of Lad McConkie too, he would do
[1:09:34] Speaker 1: it in a different way. His rookie season was so good,
[1:09:40] Speaker 1: Like he can play outside and inside. He's he's better inside.
[1:09:44] Speaker 1: I mean, he was one of the highest percentages in
[1:09:46] Speaker 1: the league, although I do think Keenan Allen kind of
[1:09:48] Speaker 1: messed him up.
[1:09:48] Speaker 3: They were a little too deplicative.
[1:09:50] Speaker 1: But he also didn't play as well last year, whether
[1:09:52] Speaker 1: it was the contested catches, Herbert and him weren't always
[1:09:55] Speaker 1: on the same page.
[1:09:56] Speaker 3: It wasn't a great year, but he showed me what
[1:09:59] Speaker 3: is highest level can be.
[1:10:01] Speaker 1: And he's just got to be able to like finish
[1:10:04] Speaker 1: games without limping to the sideline more often, because he
[1:10:06] Speaker 1: does finish games and start games.
[1:10:08] Speaker 3: It's just a size thing. But man, he can be
[1:10:12] Speaker 3: a great player.
[1:10:12] Speaker 1: I think you agree with that, Like there is a
[1:10:14] Speaker 1: world where he gets a little stronger and more durable Nate,
[1:10:19] Speaker 1: where he is just unstoppable. I think there is a
[1:10:22] Speaker 1: world that we could live in where that's the case
[1:10:24] Speaker 1: for mconkey.
[1:10:25] Speaker 2: I've told you over my comparison for him. For Lad
[1:10:30] Speaker 2: as a prospect, it was Emanuel Sanders, Okay, and Emmanuel
[1:10:34] Speaker 2: has some injury stuff for early in his career, and
[1:10:35] Speaker 2: then he started rattling off sixteen games, sixteen game, sixty game,
[1:10:38] Speaker 2: and I will say some of the Lad stuff and
[1:10:40] Speaker 2: sometimes is what we forget. How'd this guy go in
[1:10:42] Speaker 2: the second round? How'd this guy go in the third round?
[1:10:45] Speaker 2: He had injury concerns in college too, yep. And that's
[1:10:47] Speaker 2: the scary part that it's already a thing with him,
[1:10:50] Speaker 2: and then then he hits the NFL and it's like
[1:10:51] Speaker 2: continuing to be a thing. So that there's only thing
[1:10:55] Speaker 2: that knocks him for me, because it's not ability, because
[1:10:58] Speaker 2: he has inside outside ability. Zoo great route runner, he's
[1:11:00] Speaker 2: got great hands. Also, I think one of the coolest things.
[1:11:04] Speaker 2: And this is where I started. I like Lad coming
[1:11:06] Speaker 2: out of Georgia. I had him as a top forty guy.
[1:11:11] Speaker 2: But what really stood out to me was his rookie
[1:11:13] Speaker 2: year was they played the Panthers and Herbert had to
[1:11:17] Speaker 2: break contain a bunch again to scrambled Joe's a bunch
[1:11:20] Speaker 2: and he kept finding Lad yep and how Lad Ladd's
[1:11:22] Speaker 2: kind of he just has that feel like a lot
[1:11:24] Speaker 2: of these top guys we talked about, they have that feel,
[1:11:26] Speaker 2: that that spatial awareness to go, oh, I should throttle
[1:11:28] Speaker 2: right here and stay safe to the quarterback or stay
[1:11:30] Speaker 2: nice to the quarterback. Oh I got sprain up here
[1:11:32] Speaker 2: and get vertical on this. Like, he just has that
[1:11:34] Speaker 2: kind of innate feel for playing the position. But man,
[1:11:37] Speaker 2: quick as all get out, really good route runner, good hands.
[1:11:39] Speaker 2: It's just health.
[1:11:40] Speaker 3: Really, that's not exactly your type. You like the big guys.
[1:11:44] Speaker 2: I like him, No, but also yeah I like him. No,
[1:11:47] Speaker 2: I like him. I just think he's too oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
[1:11:52] Speaker 2: no he was. I mean, well, within the next like
[1:11:54] Speaker 2: five picks, you know for what, or I guess I
[1:11:57] Speaker 2: guess it would be three picks for me. I guess
[1:11:58] Speaker 2: we'd be the best way to put it. The thing is,
[1:12:00] Speaker 2: I'm actually also optimistic one about the run game in LA,
[1:12:04] Speaker 2: but I also optimistic that McDaniel can actually make Johnston
[1:12:08] Speaker 2: work more consistently Quintin because of the yak ability as
[1:12:12] Speaker 2: far as like those runway routes that he's actually good at.
[1:12:15] Speaker 2: He's not great a lot of things, but when he
[1:12:17] Speaker 2: can pick up steam and go, that's what that offense
[1:12:20] Speaker 2: is all about, on those play actions, creating those opportunities.
[1:12:22] Speaker 2: So like, it's not the knock Lad. I think Lad's
[1:12:25] Speaker 2: gonna cook, But I think Quinn Johnson's actually gonna kind
[1:12:27] Speaker 2: of really rise this year, even if he's not a
[1:12:29] Speaker 2: top thirty two guy, but just be better this year,
[1:12:31] Speaker 2: more consistent.
[1:12:32] Speaker 1: I think Ladd's their best receiver and is their most important.
[1:12:35] Speaker 1: But I probably like him even slightly more in reality
[1:12:38] Speaker 1: than I do in fantasy because I yea with Gadsden
[1:12:41] Speaker 1: and they're gonna spread it around, They're gonna run. I
[1:12:43] Speaker 1: don't know if his numbers will go crazy, but that's fine. Really,
[1:12:47] Speaker 1: I think he's going to be great. You are up
[1:12:49] Speaker 1: with pick twenty three. We're into our final ten.
[1:12:51] Speaker 2: Yeah, I know again, we're getting into the funny pages
[1:12:55] Speaker 2: area because now it's just who I want to argue for,
[1:12:58] Speaker 2: all right, I'm gonna go with one because I know
[1:13:00] Speaker 2: this is kind of a hot topic at least this
[1:13:02] Speaker 2: receiving room is, and I know everybody has a new
[1:13:05] Speaker 2: favorite crush in this receiving room. But I'm gonna go
[1:13:06] Speaker 2: with the original crush everyone happened. That's Roman Dunes, the
[1:13:09] Speaker 2: bears nice. Yes, I know it's a little high, and
[1:13:12] Speaker 2: but I do think that this year he finally puts
[1:13:14] Speaker 2: it together as far as he's bounld some health stuff too,
[1:13:17] Speaker 2: weird and contested catches as well for a guy that
[1:13:19] Speaker 2: was so good at him and so physical as a player,
[1:13:22] Speaker 2: he's another great blocker type, but still has been really productive,
[1:13:26] Speaker 2: like even with inconsistencies and also weird chemistry with Caleb
[1:13:30] Speaker 2: even though they're like buddies. Yeah, like they said, they
[1:13:32] Speaker 2: haven't ironed it out yet and usually buddies firing it
[1:13:34] Speaker 2: out a little quicker than that. So but no, Rome,
[1:13:37] Speaker 2: I think this year is like we actually like puts
[1:13:39] Speaker 2: it all together. I think this is the classic year
[1:13:42] Speaker 2: three leap is a year three year four leap. Now
[1:13:45] Speaker 2: you're a four leap. I guess for him where you
[1:13:48] Speaker 2: got to see it parts of last year, like everybody
[1:13:50] Speaker 2: in that bears offense And I know the excitement about
[1:13:52] Speaker 2: Luther Burden, and I agree with a lot of that excitement,
[1:13:55] Speaker 2: but Luther still has a little wyte to go with
[1:13:57] Speaker 2: some of the route running Polish where I think Oh
[1:13:59] Speaker 2: Dune's they wanted him as the X, and I think
[1:14:02] Speaker 2: they started to realize, oh, we can kick you inside
[1:14:04] Speaker 2: be a power guy, we can kick you on the
[1:14:05] Speaker 2: outside being as a Z and being an underneath guy
[1:14:08] Speaker 2: as well. So I think they're just kind of figuring
[1:14:10] Speaker 2: out exactly how to use them best. But I mean
[1:14:13] Speaker 2: last year he was twenty fourth the first downs per
[1:14:15] Speaker 2: route run, right behind Chris Alave, right above Alex Pearce,
[1:14:18] Speaker 2: right above Justin Jefferson DeVante Smith, Like he was still
[1:14:21] Speaker 2: productive in what people are considering kind of a lost year. Really,
[1:14:25] Speaker 2: but I still I'm betting on the talent coming through
[1:14:27] Speaker 2: this year and and and really I do think when
[1:14:30] Speaker 2: I watched that offense, even if he wasn't getting the ball,
[1:14:33] Speaker 2: there's a lot more positive snaps with him. So really
[1:14:36] Speaker 2: just finishing some place. But I'm still very high on him.
[1:14:38] Speaker 3: Dude, say he's uh, he was lower on my list.
[1:14:43] Speaker 1: I don't know if he would have gotten taken in
[1:14:45] Speaker 1: the end, but that's I have a little Garrett Wilson
[1:14:47] Speaker 1: with him to meet. They're not similar, but just I've
[1:14:50] Speaker 1: never quite gotten there. And yet the numbers are good.
[1:14:54] Speaker 1: The you know, Matt Harmon's numbers are good for him
[1:14:57] Speaker 1: getting open, like he is a pretty complete receiver. It's
[1:15:00] Speaker 1: only year three, by the way, so you know, going
[1:15:01] Speaker 1: into yeah, his third year, I'm going to go with someone.
[1:15:06] Speaker 1: This is this is the most flag plant I've had
[1:15:10] Speaker 1: so far, and this maybe you'll laugh at this, but
[1:15:13] Speaker 1: if it was my team, and I hope it's not
[1:15:17] Speaker 1: a small sample size that I'm falling for Michael Wilson.
[1:15:19] Speaker 3: But I don't know, man, I just love Michael Willis.
[1:15:21] Speaker 2: Oh no, that was mine. Okay, that was no, all right,
[1:15:24] Speaker 2: So he was twenty seven for me and I was
[1:15:27] Speaker 2: gonna take him whenever that picked cauld Get.
[1:15:29] Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know.
[1:15:31] Speaker 1: It's a little bit of what I talked about with Nico,
[1:15:34] Speaker 1: and I was like, is everyone watching this, because it
[1:15:37] Speaker 1: did take a little bit to get going, obviously watching
[1:15:41] Speaker 1: and obviously fantasy football.
[1:15:42] Speaker 3: I'm not breaking any news to them.
[1:15:44] Speaker 1: He carried some teams to a title last year because
[1:15:47] Speaker 1: his numbers were, you know, top five in the NFL
[1:15:51] Speaker 1: down the stretch last year, especially when Marvin Harrison was hurt.
[1:15:54] Speaker 1: He led the NFL in yards and yards per catch
[1:15:58] Speaker 1: over expectation, and I just the more I watch him,
[1:16:01] Speaker 1: like what can he do exactly, because he can take
[1:16:04] Speaker 1: a short one long, he can run long. He's physical.
[1:16:08] Speaker 1: They use him in motion a lot, like I saw
[1:16:11] Speaker 1: what I saw. It matters more than his college tape.
[1:16:13] Speaker 1: It matters more than what happened before. He's in the
[1:16:16] Speaker 1: pro doing it. His his contested catch numbers are bananas.
[1:16:20] Speaker 1: The last two years. We'll see how sticky it goes,
[1:16:22] Speaker 1: but it's a two year sample size. He's thirty three
[1:16:24] Speaker 1: for fifty two according to PFF over the last years.
[1:16:27] Speaker 1: That's literally the best in the NFL. I just feel
[1:16:30] Speaker 1: like I've seen enough. He's freaking awesome and he can
[1:16:34] Speaker 1: be a he can be a one. It's weird because
[1:16:36] Speaker 1: he's with Marmon Harrison and they can just be a tandem.
[1:16:39] Speaker 1: But if he's the best receiver on your team, I
[1:16:42] Speaker 1: think you can build in a group around him.
[1:16:44] Speaker 2: I also think it's a great bet. He fits so
[1:16:48] Speaker 2: perfect in that offense. If I think will be what
[1:16:51] Speaker 2: he's going to run, he is. He's built just like Poka.
[1:16:55] Speaker 1: He literally said in a press conference, Michae Lafleur. Yeah,
[1:16:59] Speaker 1: he's gonna be like the Pooka role, And.
[1:17:01] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's because he can play inside and outside. He's
[1:17:04] Speaker 2: a power slot. So I love Michael Wilson, so I'm
[1:17:07] Speaker 2: all about this pick. No matter what, he was gonna
[1:17:09] Speaker 2: get taken for me somewhere it was just me justifying it.
[1:17:13] Speaker 2: So I'm glad you threw it out here. And I
[1:17:15] Speaker 2: actually even still relatively bullish on MHM Marvin Harrison Junior.
[1:17:20] Speaker 2: I think relative to the public, but I do think too.
[1:17:24] Speaker 2: And also disclaimer, I'm probably not gonna draft Neighbors just
[1:17:27] Speaker 2: because I have no idea what to do with him
[1:17:28] Speaker 2: with the injury stuff, even though I trust the talent.
[1:17:30] Speaker 2: It's just more availability. But with Wilson, it's inside outside ability,
[1:17:35] Speaker 2: willing blocker, green the intermediate stuff because he's got that
[1:17:38] Speaker 2: power and just that fluidness that we talked about with
[1:17:40] Speaker 2: a lot of these guys. And why he's getting mentioned
[1:17:43] Speaker 2: in the Pooka Nakula role quote unquote is because he's
[1:17:46] Speaker 2: pretty good with the ball in his hands as because
[1:17:48] Speaker 2: of his contact balance and so maybe some jets sweet stuff,
[1:17:51] Speaker 2: but he's just a great blocker that can play on
[1:17:53] Speaker 2: the inside. It's kind of like that the facto tight end,
[1:17:54] Speaker 2: the Cooper Cup, which became the Pukaku role, which now
[1:17:57] Speaker 2: it could be Michael Wilson. So I love this pick.
[1:18:00] Speaker 2: I think he's a hell of a player. And yeah,
[1:18:02] Speaker 2: more this one was for us, and I like that.
[1:18:06] Speaker 3: Yeah, I love that for us. I sniped him from you.
[1:18:09] Speaker 3: It's also for me.
[1:18:10] Speaker 1: But really, the list that Eric puts out, it's not
[1:18:13] Speaker 1: you know, we're owning this together, so we wanted to
[1:18:16] Speaker 1: we want to look good at yells at the end
[1:18:18] Speaker 1: of the season.
[1:18:19] Speaker 3: You're up with twenty five.
[1:18:21] Speaker 2: Oh boy, this might be my kind of like, it's not. Really,
[1:18:26] Speaker 2: he just got paid. That's Christian Awson. I'm just gonna
[1:18:29] Speaker 2: go with him.
[1:18:30] Speaker 3: Yeah, I was gonna he was.
[1:18:31] Speaker 1: I had like a list of guys I don't know
[1:18:33] Speaker 1: if they all will get drafted, but he was right
[1:18:35] Speaker 1: at the bottom of my I want him to make
[1:18:38] Speaker 1: this list, like he's in my top thirty two, but
[1:18:40] Speaker 1: I just know you'll take some other guys. I was
[1:18:41] Speaker 1: just like, yeah, he deserved I want him at the
[1:18:43] Speaker 1: end of this list, if possible.
[1:18:45] Speaker 2: You want to talk about him at some point, Yeah,
[1:18:47] Speaker 2: it's Watson is not a guy I was high on
[1:18:50] Speaker 2: coming out of college. He's a guy that's grown on me,
[1:18:52] Speaker 2: and I think that's because his game's grown even drops
[1:18:55] Speaker 2: He's cut that down and whether that stays sticky will see,
[1:18:58] Speaker 2: But he just looks more confident as a player. Knew
[1:19:01] Speaker 2: battle injuries and even last year, but when he was
[1:19:04] Speaker 2: on the field, he's just so highly productive leading into
[1:19:07] Speaker 2: last year and last year. Last year, one hundred and
[1:19:10] Speaker 2: seventeen receivers, two hundred more routes, Watson ranked tenth and first,
[1:19:13] Speaker 2: downs per out, fourth and yards per out and third,
[1:19:15] Speaker 2: explosives per out and doing it in more of a
[1:19:18] Speaker 2: real way, not just straight go balls. He's added a
[1:19:22] Speaker 2: lot of branches to his route tree. Incredibly explosive. But
[1:19:26] Speaker 2: there's a great athlete, and now that he's more confident
[1:19:29] Speaker 2: in his hands, the production is kind of exploding off
[1:19:33] Speaker 2: of that, on top of the stuff that he's already
[1:19:36] Speaker 2: kind of shown that he can do. So it's more
[1:19:38] Speaker 2: about health with him. But he's a guy. I know
[1:19:40] Speaker 2: he got paid. I was surprised, and sometimes it's my
[1:19:42] Speaker 2: own fault. I don't look at just true box score
[1:19:45] Speaker 2: numbers enough, like I look at the true media rate
[1:19:49] Speaker 2: stats so much that I forget how many total yards
[1:19:51] Speaker 2: they go for. It was like when Romeo Dobbs got signed,
[1:19:53] Speaker 2: I'm like, oh my god, he had such a breakout
[1:19:55] Speaker 2: year and he had like, what eight hundred yards and
[1:19:57] Speaker 2: I'm acting like he went for fourteen hundred. Same with
[1:20:00] Speaker 2: I forget that, but I was surprised when he got signed.
[1:20:02] Speaker 2: How many people are just like, oh my god, It's like, no,
[1:20:04] Speaker 2: he's really He was truly one of the most improved
[1:20:07] Speaker 2: players in the entire NFL last year when he was
[1:20:08] Speaker 2: on the field and really become one of my more
[1:20:11] Speaker 2: favorites because he's so explosive and stuff. So to throw
[1:20:13] Speaker 2: him out here, yeah, I love it.
[1:20:16] Speaker 1: He he has some crazy again giving me some credit
[1:20:19] Speaker 1: on her like X Factor show, the on off splits
[1:20:22] Speaker 1: for Watson in his entire career with la Or the
[1:20:25] Speaker 1: last four years are crazy. They he similar obviously similar
[1:20:32] Speaker 1: to DK Metcalf, but obviously very different as a player.
[1:20:35] Speaker 1: But I think the gravity that Watson brings and just
[1:20:38] Speaker 1: he's a problem that you have to have a plan
[1:20:40] Speaker 1: for help out everyone else.
[1:20:43] Speaker 3: And then yeah, last year he just felt like he.
[1:20:47] Speaker 1: Became more of a complete receiver and you're getting real
[1:20:50] Speaker 1: like a real receiver, and and you're getting him another
[1:20:54] Speaker 1: year healthy. He was that good coming off of a
[1:20:55] Speaker 1: torn acl So that that's strong. I'm gonna go Zay Flowers, Okay.
[1:21:00] Speaker 2: Say Flowers, Okay, Yeah, No, Watson was just one of
[1:21:02] Speaker 2: those where it's like I can't believe how high I've
[1:21:04] Speaker 2: gotten on him. And now again it's one of those
[1:21:06] Speaker 2: guys I wouldn't say I've stayed level on him. I've
[1:21:08] Speaker 2: really risen out how I estimate him, how I rate him,
[1:21:13] Speaker 2: and it's really been It's cool. I love when we
[1:21:16] Speaker 2: say with Dobbs saying, with his teammate, we're former teammate.
[1:21:19] Speaker 2: It's just guy. I love when that happens. When I
[1:21:21] Speaker 2: got I'm like, yeah, okay, I see the athleticism, but
[1:21:23] Speaker 2: when it works and it's like, oh sweet, like all
[1:21:26] Speaker 2: that work you guys put into him, it's actually coming
[1:21:28] Speaker 2: out and coming to fruition. So I think he's I
[1:21:31] Speaker 2: think he's gonna surprise some people, maybe just the raw
[1:21:33] Speaker 2: stats this year and just it's gonna be more real
[1:21:35] Speaker 2: for everybody.
[1:21:36] Speaker 1: Yet, you have a great perspective as someone who's so
[1:21:38] Speaker 1: deep into the draft, but it is great when you
[1:21:40] Speaker 1: see these speed guys, size guys that well, if they
[1:21:45] Speaker 1: can develop by year three, by year four, they could
[1:21:48] Speaker 1: be this Watson to me is as a great example
[1:21:51] Speaker 1: of that where he is doing that development. Flowers is
[1:21:54] Speaker 1: a guy who I think, similar to Garrett Wilson before,
[1:21:56] Speaker 1: is maybe not either of our perfect flavors, and yet
[1:22:00] Speaker 1: I just the numbers are so undeniable. I just feel
[1:22:03] Speaker 1: like he should be on this list somewhere, and he
[1:22:06] Speaker 1: was next on mine. So I'm just gonna take him.
[1:22:08] Speaker 1: He's so unique, Like, yes, he's been playing with a
[1:22:12] Speaker 1: Hall of Fame quarterback, which has helped a lot. Does
[1:22:14] Speaker 1: he need to have a great quarterback like he's been
[1:22:16] Speaker 1: helped with that, but he does get open and similar
[1:22:20] Speaker 1: a little bit to aman Ra Saint Brown, like they
[1:22:23] Speaker 1: build a lot out of him. Like he is used
[1:22:25] Speaker 1: in motion more than any wide receiver in the NFL period,
[1:22:29] Speaker 1: full stop. Like he is always moving, and he's someone
[1:22:33] Speaker 1: that you have to account from the separations. Our number
[1:22:36] Speaker 1: numbers are there, the yards per route run are straight
[1:22:39] Speaker 1: up elite. When they use him in the slot, like
[1:22:42] Speaker 1: it is extremely efficient. By the numbers also throughout his career,
[1:22:47] Speaker 1: not just raw numbers, which are also very consistent, but
[1:22:50] Speaker 1: just by the advanced numbers, he looks like he's the
[1:22:55] Speaker 1: exact same guy every single year.
[1:22:57] Speaker 3: He doesn't feel that way because he's certainly not on
[1:22:59] Speaker 3: a route to route basis.
[1:23:01] Speaker 1: But basically, the Za Flowers you get is you get
[1:23:04] Speaker 1: him back every year and it's extremely productive. And so
[1:23:07] Speaker 1: at a certain point, I just feel like we have
[1:23:10] Speaker 1: to take us some Za Flowers.
[1:23:12] Speaker 2: Yeah, you're so put it this way. He was in
[1:23:15] Speaker 2: my like draftable range. I was never going to take him.
[1:23:19] Speaker 3: Yeah, I.
[1:23:22] Speaker 2: Know. I insist. No, I insist kind of like, yeah,
[1:23:25] Speaker 2: like I understand where the talent is. Yeah, he's just
[1:23:27] Speaker 2: not my kind of flavor. There's some frustrations I have
[1:23:30] Speaker 2: sometimes so he always go works backwards with the ball
[1:23:32] Speaker 2: in his hands, but I understand his ability. Like I
[1:23:35] Speaker 2: think he's a very good number two, like they've been
[1:23:39] Speaker 2: desperately needing another one. And I don't think Elijah Strout
[1:23:43] Speaker 2: is going to be that as much as I like him,
[1:23:44] Speaker 2: but I did like that flavor kind of change. But
[1:23:47] Speaker 2: No Flowers for what he is is good and actually
[1:23:50] Speaker 2: plays more like a real receiver than I think he
[1:23:52] Speaker 2: gets credit for because of how what he looks like,
[1:23:53] Speaker 2: how small he is and everything. But he's always been
[1:23:56] Speaker 2: even at BC, just a guy that runs a full
[1:23:59] Speaker 2: rout tree and everything. And I like how you put it,
[1:24:01] Speaker 2: He's always moving it's a good way to kind of
[1:24:03] Speaker 2: kind of a good way to put it. Yeah, he's
[1:24:04] Speaker 2: a he's kind of a not a jitterbug, a sugar bug.
[1:24:08] Speaker 2: He's just chock full of sugar on this stuff.
[1:24:10] Speaker 1: So I went that as like, as much as his
[1:24:13] Speaker 1: stats have maybe gotten inflated, because he's clearly the best guy,
[1:24:16] Speaker 1: they also would be a little bit of a mess
[1:24:18] Speaker 1: without him the last Yeah, as a receiver grew who else,
[1:24:21] Speaker 1: I'll give him a little credit there.
[1:24:24] Speaker 3: All right, you are up with twenty four.
[1:24:27] Speaker 2: Man, there's some fun ones I just really want to
[1:24:29] Speaker 2: talk about. So I'm making my little kind of like
[1:24:31] Speaker 2: short list for the for our next pick. So hopefully
[1:24:34] Speaker 2: we get to talk about all these guys. All Right,
[1:24:36] Speaker 2: he took the one teammate, No do I do? I
[1:24:42] Speaker 2: want to All these guys have a teammate drafted, I
[1:24:44] Speaker 2: think except for one. All Right, I'm just gonna go
[1:24:47] Speaker 2: with him because I just trust the quarterback, and I'm
[1:24:49] Speaker 2: gonna go Dj Moore at twenty seven. Now, a guy
[1:24:53] Speaker 2: that's kind of disappointed me the last couple of years.
[1:24:56] Speaker 2: Some of his attitude stuff, some of the efforts stuff
[1:24:59] Speaker 2: I've seen I won't out some of the attention to
[1:25:02] Speaker 2: detail as well. I don't think him and Caleb just
[1:25:05] Speaker 2: really bonded. I have no idea, I know nothing about that.
[1:25:07] Speaker 2: I'm just guessing off what I watched on film, and
[1:25:10] Speaker 2: I just one of these guys that going to Buffalo.
[1:25:13] Speaker 2: Though you may have to overpaid a little bit for him,
[1:25:16] Speaker 2: I do think that he's gonna eat in that offense
[1:25:19] Speaker 2: because they've needed someone that can win vertically down the sideline.
[1:25:23] Speaker 2: I also think he's always just been a good like
[1:25:25] Speaker 2: yat guy on screens and handoffs and everything. And I
[1:25:28] Speaker 2: think that offense, I mean, it's built out of bubbles.
[1:25:31] Speaker 2: You know, as much as I of Khalil Shakir, you
[1:25:33] Speaker 2: only can do that so much, but him and don't
[1:25:36] Speaker 2: Kink run those bubbles. Now you've got DJ Moore, who's
[1:25:38] Speaker 2: another dynamic player. But I think Josh Allen has now
[1:25:42] Speaker 2: he never attacks the sideline anymore because he just never
[1:25:45] Speaker 2: had a player They try to do it with Kean
[1:25:46] Speaker 2: Coleman Dj Moore, even if he's not built like it,
[1:25:50] Speaker 2: he can run an X route treet, meaning he can
[1:25:52] Speaker 2: run vertical. He can run stop routes and win isolated.
[1:25:55] Speaker 2: So I'm gonna throw him out here, I actually was
[1:25:58] Speaker 2: thinking maybe the guy was kind of like, you know,
[1:26:01] Speaker 2: peppering out there just thinking about was his old teammate
[1:26:04] Speaker 2: Luther Burden as a breakout year I know, I know,
[1:26:07] Speaker 2: and another guy that's kind of like I like more
[1:26:09] Speaker 2: as a pro than even as a prospect, But I
[1:26:11] Speaker 2: think more though. I think in this offense this year
[1:26:14] Speaker 2: only is going to be very productive and be quite
[1:26:18] Speaker 2: easily a top twenty seven receiver.
[1:26:20] Speaker 1: I think I like him way better in fantasy than
[1:26:23] Speaker 1: in reality. I don't think I would have taken him.
[1:26:25] Speaker 1: He was a little bit like Jay Flowers for you,
[1:26:29] Speaker 1: because there's just too much inconsistency where it feels like
[1:26:32] Speaker 1: you can't trust he's going to do what you want
[1:26:34] Speaker 1: him to do. And I even look back at the
[1:26:38] Speaker 1: Panthers trade and wonder like, were they a little tired
[1:26:41] Speaker 1: of Dj Moore? Some of the efforts stuff I think
[1:26:44] Speaker 1: was real, And so I think he'll be really productive.
[1:26:47] Speaker 1: I actually think he'll get a great year out of him,
[1:26:49] Speaker 1: and that is what this is about twenty twenty six.
[1:26:51] Speaker 1: So it totally makes sense as a pick. And yet
[1:26:54] Speaker 1: I didn't want him on my team.
[1:26:56] Speaker 2: I feel like I'm, yeah, that's a good team super
[1:26:59] Speaker 2: team real football. If I were like drafting guys, he'd
[1:27:02] Speaker 2: kind of be off my board, you know here betting
[1:27:04] Speaker 2: just production, betting where he could be. Okay, this is
[1:27:06] Speaker 2: a this is my head not my heart kind of
[1:27:09] Speaker 2: a selection here. It's kind of just what he is
[1:27:11] Speaker 2: going to be. And I think he's gonna be in
[1:27:13] Speaker 2: that Buffalo offense.
[1:27:14] Speaker 3: So very similar to Christian Watson.
[1:27:17] Speaker 1: I believe Jamison Williams development gets him a spot on
[1:27:20] Speaker 1: this list, and I had him just a little bit higher.
[1:27:23] Speaker 1: They were both quite draftable on my list to Watson,
[1:27:26] Speaker 1: but a similar in that you've seen him get better
[1:27:30] Speaker 1: at the things you were hoping early in his career,
[1:27:34] Speaker 1: where now he's doing much more of the route tree.
[1:27:37] Speaker 1: When Aman Raj got hurt against the Packers, Jameson Williams
[1:27:40] Speaker 1: steps up, like, I don't think you'd want him to
[1:27:42] Speaker 1: be your one, but he could have a bigger load
[1:27:45] Speaker 1: than he really does. His yards per target on inbreakers
[1:27:49] Speaker 1: and this is because he just takes these things to
[1:27:51] Speaker 1: the house is higher than like anyone ever over the
[1:27:53] Speaker 1: last two years. It's just like every like twelve of
[1:27:57] Speaker 1: those he just runs for seventy five yards. So I
[1:27:59] Speaker 1: don't know if that's misleading or not. But he stretches
[1:28:02] Speaker 1: the field. They're using him on short throws a little more,
[1:28:05] Speaker 1: but obviously he's great with the yak, he's great with
[1:28:07] Speaker 1: the deep ball. My my style of receiver would just
[1:28:11] Speaker 1: really help out any receiver room. Jamos and Williams getting
[1:28:15] Speaker 1: better and better.
[1:28:16] Speaker 2: Yep, we did our skill player draft and this time
[1:28:22] Speaker 2: of year, I know, and we kind of I know,
[1:28:24] Speaker 2: I wanted to change it up and we kind of
[1:28:26] Speaker 2: had a I did it with some rules where it's
[1:28:29] Speaker 2: like you're basically building the skill player room. So it's
[1:28:30] Speaker 2: like you had to take a tight end, you had
[1:28:32] Speaker 2: take a running back, he had take two receivers, and
[1:28:33] Speaker 2: then you had like a flex and even Charles McDonald
[1:28:36] Speaker 2: he took Jamison as a top you know, fifteen guy,
[1:28:39] Speaker 2: but he was doing it from a team builder perspective
[1:28:41] Speaker 2: because he goes, well, my other guys, no one could
[1:28:43] Speaker 2: create space like Jameson Williams. He's like, this guy is
[1:28:46] Speaker 2: not going to catch many balls, but he's going to
[1:28:47] Speaker 2: help everybody else out. I was like, you're right, like
[1:28:50] Speaker 2: he's who maybe a guy. Deshaun Jackson was like that,
[1:28:54] Speaker 2: you know, when we were younger, I wouldn't say to
[1:28:55] Speaker 2: the extent like they're different, different flavors, but kind of
[1:28:58] Speaker 2: what those guys, the boost that those guys provide for
[1:29:01] Speaker 2: everybody else, Like it's it's as worth as much the
[1:29:03] Speaker 2: yards that they put up as well. So I had
[1:29:06] Speaker 2: him as my next He was on that next little
[1:29:08] Speaker 2: chunk of guys, so I was hopefully going to take him.
[1:29:10] Speaker 2: There's either this next pick or the pick after that,
[1:29:12] Speaker 2: so I know this is I'm gonna all right, I'm
[1:29:15] Speaker 2: gonna go with the guy. This one. This one's just
[1:29:16] Speaker 2: for me.
[1:29:16] Speaker 1: Keep keep in mind, you only got two more picks left,
[1:29:18] Speaker 1: so if you only have two players, you feel like.
[1:29:21] Speaker 2: Can I just tell you? Can I just tell you
[1:29:22] Speaker 2: my short list and then maybe.
[1:29:24] Speaker 3: Just no, that's giving it away. That's given it away.
[1:29:27] Speaker 2: I want to I want to gauge your reaction. I
[1:29:29] Speaker 2: want to play poker, like show my my hand and
[1:29:31] Speaker 2: just see what your reaction was. This one's for me,
[1:29:35] Speaker 2: This one's for me, and I understand he's hurt right now,
[1:29:38] Speaker 2: and I understand that we don't even know what timeline is.
[1:29:40] Speaker 2: I'm going with Alec Pierce because I just want to
[1:29:43] Speaker 2: plant this flag and playing.
[1:29:45] Speaker 3: He's next on mine.
[1:29:46] Speaker 1: He's actually fallen further than I had. I only had
[1:29:48] Speaker 1: two players left. I was like, I'm going to draft
[1:29:51] Speaker 1: those two players. Alec Pierce is one of those two.
[1:29:53] Speaker 3: I meane got it. It's only the injury that's even
[1:29:55] Speaker 3: not that's really.
[1:29:57] Speaker 2: Even regret and having them blow DJ more. Now, Pierces said,
[1:30:01] Speaker 2: I just talked about vertical guys like Jameson Williams and
[1:30:04] Speaker 2: Deshaun Jackson. Pierce says that in spades, that's why he
[1:30:08] Speaker 2: got paid money, and then last year you got to
[1:30:10] Speaker 2: see him. He's not going to be the Percceine route runner.
[1:30:12] Speaker 2: That's not going to be how he wins. But the
[1:30:15] Speaker 2: fact that he has the one hundred and three mile
[1:30:17] Speaker 2: an hour fastball. Now his off speed pitches are just enough,
[1:30:21] Speaker 2: like just enough you have to worry about the curveball,
[1:30:24] Speaker 2: just enough you have to worry about the slider. That
[1:30:26] Speaker 2: the fastball is so much more dangerous because he can
[1:30:29] Speaker 2: throw that at any time as the Houston Texans, but
[1:30:33] Speaker 2: also now he is threatening defenses with his breaking routes,
[1:30:36] Speaker 2: a little bit more out routes, a little bit more comebacks. Again,
[1:30:39] Speaker 2: he's a little stiff hipped and that's why he just
[1:30:42] Speaker 2: even physically, he's always going to be limited as a
[1:30:44] Speaker 2: route runner, but ball skills and speed maybe the best
[1:30:48] Speaker 2: in the league, you know, just like you're talking about Jameson.
[1:30:51] Speaker 2: Jameson's a little different flavor as a yat guy, but
[1:30:55] Speaker 2: I think there's very few there are even in the
[1:30:58] Speaker 2: same tier as Alex Pierce, So I think he's on top.
[1:31:00] Speaker 2: That's why he got paid and just become more of
[1:31:02] Speaker 2: a complete player than even just kind of those big
[1:31:05] Speaker 2: plays that obviously grabbed the highlights.
[1:31:07] Speaker 1: No one like him in the NFL, and not just
[1:31:09] Speaker 1: leading the league and yards per reception by far back
[1:31:12] Speaker 1: to back seasons twenty two and twenty one, just like
[1:31:15] Speaker 1: outrageous nineteen seventies on the Chargers type numbers, which is
[1:31:19] Speaker 1: fun to see. His average like ada is over twenty,
[1:31:24] Speaker 1: which is crazy. There's no one else around him or
[1:31:28] Speaker 1: like him. One thing I think that showed how good
[1:31:31] Speaker 1: he is is when Philip Rivers came in, the rest
[1:31:34] Speaker 1: of the passing game kind of fell apart, but Alec
[1:31:36] Speaker 1: Pierce was still getting his buckets, like he still made
[1:31:39] Speaker 1: it happen with Philip Rivers down the field. So I
[1:31:42] Speaker 1: don't like the vibes with the contract and the injury.
[1:31:44] Speaker 1: It's a lot of pressure, but he had to be taken.
[1:31:48] Speaker 2: I actually am kind of glad that he re signed
[1:31:51] Speaker 2: with Andy because I said, this durned free agency period.
[1:31:54] Speaker 2: I go, he's gonna get overpaid by another team, and
[1:31:57] Speaker 2: no matter what, he'll never live up to that contract,
[1:31:59] Speaker 2: no matter how he is on a per role production base,
[1:32:02] Speaker 2: you know, efficiency rate, the stats. Fans are gonna go
[1:32:05] Speaker 2: thousand yards. We just paid you twenty eight million a year,
[1:32:09] Speaker 2: you know, like I And so I'm actually kind of
[1:32:11] Speaker 2: glad he went back to Indy, like as far as
[1:32:13] Speaker 2: just expectations and just you know, just hometown here, all
[1:32:16] Speaker 2: that kind of stuff and everything. But I know, I
[1:32:18] Speaker 2: actually almost regret not having him above more. Yeah, that
[1:32:21] Speaker 2: kind of makes me. Yeah, I want recon and flop
[1:32:24] Speaker 2: those two.
[1:32:26] Speaker 3: Okay, I I am.
[1:32:28] Speaker 1: I'm gonna take Mike Evans. You took the guys I
[1:32:31] Speaker 1: Pierce was the last of my guys that I felt
[1:32:33] Speaker 1: like had to be wondered.
[1:32:35] Speaker 2: Take Mike Evans. Okay, yeah, I didn't.
[1:32:37] Speaker 1: Pierce was the last one that had to be on
[1:32:38] Speaker 1: my list, and you did it for me. Evans Evans
[1:32:41] Speaker 1: is next up for me. I know, last year, it
[1:32:45] Speaker 1: was trending to say, well, he still looked like Mike
[1:32:48] Speaker 1: Evans completely when he was out there, and you know,
[1:32:52] Speaker 1: he's still great versus man, but he never gets a
[1:32:56] Speaker 1: lot of yak. But it really was like a next
[1:32:58] Speaker 1: level of not getting it, like like zero. Yeah, so
[1:33:01] Speaker 1: he's a very specific flavor. He's thirty three years old now,
[1:33:05] Speaker 1: but I think it's a skill set that will work.
[1:33:10] Speaker 1: And look, if you if you asked me to choose
[1:33:12] Speaker 1: between Mike Evans and DeVante Adams, for instance, if one
[1:33:15] Speaker 1: of them happened to really fall off, I actually would
[1:33:19] Speaker 1: say Adams would be more likely than Evans. I think
[1:33:22] Speaker 1: Evans is gonna be a valuable role player plus for
[1:33:26] Speaker 1: the forty nine ers, and they're really excited to have him.
[1:33:30] Speaker 1: I think he matches up pretty well actually with how
[1:33:32] Speaker 1: brock Purty is precise in the red zone. But also
[1:33:35] Speaker 1: brock Purty throws a nice touch deep ball like Drew
[1:33:39] Speaker 1: Brees style, and that's what Mike Evans does great is
[1:33:42] Speaker 1: a you know, it's a lot of contested catches thirty
[1:33:45] Speaker 1: yards down.
[1:33:45] Speaker 3: The field, and so I think Evans will be good
[1:33:47] Speaker 3: for the forty nine ers.
[1:33:49] Speaker 2: Yeah right, My uh might well just maybe think of
[1:33:53] Speaker 2: a new party. Take is that Brock Purty is if
[1:33:56] Speaker 2: Johnny Manziel worked out in the NFL like that, that's right,
[1:34:01] Speaker 2: arm strength, even athleticism, because Party's a better athlete and
[1:34:04] Speaker 2: people realize and he's a good scrambler. Yeah, that's even
[1:34:08] Speaker 2: size wise are kind of similar size. But that's that's
[1:34:11] Speaker 2: who we had Texas A and m Watch Mike Evans
[1:34:14] Speaker 2: rumble on Alabama. It's some of the most impressive stuff
[1:34:16] Speaker 2: you'll ever see. No love it. I was curious. I
[1:34:20] Speaker 2: didn't know what to do with Mike Evans, and I
[1:34:22] Speaker 2: really didn't for this exercise. I mean love it in
[1:34:25] Speaker 2: a real football sense. And I actually I had Ricky
[1:34:27] Speaker 2: Piersoll's one of the names as a draftable name for me.
[1:34:29] Speaker 3: Okay, well, we're gonna have a just missed list because
[1:34:32] Speaker 3: we only have two picks.
[1:34:33] Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, but I'm stalling because I don't I know.
[1:34:36] Speaker 2: We have to get out of here, and I'm stalling
[1:34:37] Speaker 2: and I'm just really debating a lot of players here.
[1:34:41] Speaker 1: You can bless a bunch of them now because it's
[1:34:43] Speaker 1: your last pick, and you're gonna have Luther Burden.
[1:34:45] Speaker 2: Yeah, Rashid Rice because I'm hiring Rashi Rice and everybody.
[1:34:49] Speaker 2: I understand all the stuff. Marvin Harrison Junior because again
[1:34:52] Speaker 2: I'm hiring him than everybody. Cortland Sutton is kind of
[1:34:55] Speaker 2: a respect pick because he actually is kind of like
[1:34:57] Speaker 2: the quietest top thirtiest receiver in the league.
[1:35:01] Speaker 1: He's officially next on my board. I don't know if
[1:35:03] Speaker 1: I'm gonna take him, but I'm with you. I just
[1:35:05] Speaker 1: felt like I had to give him the respect. He
[1:35:07] Speaker 1: was inside my top thirty.
[1:35:09] Speaker 2: Ricky Piersoll, I actually am pretty optimistic about this year.
[1:35:12] Speaker 2: It's just health. And actually my one Ricky now was
[1:35:14] Speaker 2: Carnell Tait just because I do think he's gonna get
[1:35:17] Speaker 2: He's gonna eat and just get a lot of touches
[1:35:19] Speaker 2: this year. And I like Carnell Tait, you know. And
[1:35:22] Speaker 2: then the other guys, It's like, I don't know what
[1:35:23] Speaker 2: to do with these guys. Chris Collwin juniors one, Milik
[1:35:25] Speaker 2: Neighbors was one. I mentioned, Mike Evans is one. It's like,
[1:35:28] Speaker 2: I don't know what kind of really rank you guys.
[1:35:30] Speaker 2: So that was hard an agile and cooker for fun.
[1:35:33] Speaker 2: So thirty one though, I mean, just guy, it's on
[1:35:36] Speaker 2: my list Luthor Burden, Why not, that's a he was
[1:35:38] Speaker 2: top my list. Just go go with that.
[1:35:40] Speaker 3: I wanted you to take Ston just so that the
[1:35:42] Speaker 3: Broncos fans won't be mad at us.
[1:35:44] Speaker 2: Oh they're gonna mad, They're gonna roast us.
[1:35:46] Speaker 3: Well maybe I'll take them thirty two. I don't know.
[1:35:48] Speaker 2: There you go. They love being angry. You can just yeah.
[1:35:52] Speaker 2: But Luther Burden I liked as a prospect. I had
[1:35:56] Speaker 2: him as a late first, early second guy. You know,
[1:35:58] Speaker 2: I think like twenty eight on my board something like that.
[1:36:02] Speaker 2: I saw the talent. But these guys are always huge, red, big, big, big, giant,
[1:36:10] Speaker 2: deep deep red alarm bells or red flags is gadget
[1:36:15] Speaker 2: guys that are only slot. They get a lot of
[1:36:17] Speaker 2: plays designed for them. Whether that's scarring from Troy Williamson,
[1:36:21] Speaker 2: whether that's just I knew that would get you, whether
[1:36:25] Speaker 2: that was just a lot of guys I've come out
[1:36:26] Speaker 2: over the years.
[1:36:27] Speaker 1: I was in the green room with Troy Williamson during
[1:36:29] Speaker 1: his draft, the only draft I spent in the green room.
[1:36:32] Speaker 3: I don't know why. I was there for NFL dot
[1:36:34] Speaker 3: Com for fifteen. Bigger guy than you would expect. Troy
[1:36:37] Speaker 3: Williams you know.
[1:36:38] Speaker 2: Actually and everything. Yeah, yeah, just couldn't catch and couldn't
[1:36:41] Speaker 2: run arount. Other than that though, you know, he could run.
[1:36:45] Speaker 2: And god, that was a bad draft class f two
[1:36:48] Speaker 2: first round picks too. That was because the other receivers
[1:36:51] Speaker 2: are like Braylen Edwards. Michael Clayton was another one in
[1:36:55] Speaker 2: that class. We drafted Vikings draft Rasmus James too. That
[1:36:58] Speaker 2: it was just just awesome, five star draft. No, But
[1:37:03] Speaker 2: who'd I draft? Oh yeah, Luther Burden is that? Well one,
[1:37:08] Speaker 2: another guy that's bigger than I think people realize, a
[1:37:10] Speaker 2: great athlete, very fluid, still a little raw. He caused
[1:37:13] Speaker 2: an interception last year by flowing, throwing a hand up
[1:37:16] Speaker 2: and going rogue on a route which is big no
[1:37:18] Speaker 2: known in the NFL once you'r Randy Moss. And also
[1:37:21] Speaker 2: though more of a dirty word gritty player than I
[1:37:24] Speaker 2: gave him credit for, and has more outside ability that
[1:37:27] Speaker 2: I maybe give him credit for, and already has shown that,
[1:37:30] Speaker 2: and I think already has shown Ben Johnson that, and
[1:37:32] Speaker 2: I think Ben Johnson's very giddy about him. And I mean,
[1:37:37] Speaker 2: I wish I could draft Colson love one like one
[1:37:39] Speaker 2: in this but of this group, but I think Burden
[1:37:42] Speaker 2: just shows more of a real receiver on top of
[1:37:44] Speaker 2: the I mean truly exceptional body control and contact balance
[1:37:49] Speaker 2: and what he can do with the ball in his hands.
[1:37:51] Speaker 2: And he already shown that he can be an averageish
[1:37:53] Speaker 2: route runner. So even if he just gets to above
[1:37:55] Speaker 2: average blocking, the completeness of him, that's a very exciting,
[1:37:59] Speaker 2: very dangerous player. Yeah, Luther burn I want to give
[1:38:01] Speaker 2: a little shout too.
[1:38:02] Speaker 1: If I feel like Luther Burden becoming as good as
[1:38:05] Speaker 1: I think he's gonna be, is is almost going to
[1:38:07] Speaker 1: prove my Cadarius Tony Tony hype right, you know, years
[1:38:12] Speaker 1: later that's a great We're Kadarius Tony let us down
[1:38:17] Speaker 1: a little bit. Though he had a moment in the
[1:38:18] Speaker 1: Super Bowl, Uther Burden will make it happen.
[1:38:20] Speaker 3: And lo, no, I agree with you.
[1:38:21] Speaker 1: Luther Burdon is so much stronger and it's complete and
[1:38:25] Speaker 1: he landed the situation and that matters.
[1:38:28] Speaker 2: Yep, it does. I know. I'm now I'm curious to
[1:38:30] Speaker 2: you end with other in Courtland Sutton on Eury Pick.
[1:38:32] Speaker 1: So if you're listening Broncos fans, Courtland Sutton is next
[1:38:36] Speaker 1: on my list and would have officially been like twenty
[1:38:39] Speaker 1: seventh on my list fifteen explosive plays on late down.
[1:38:43] Speaker 1: I'm not taking him the most explosive plays on late
[1:38:47] Speaker 1: downs of anyone in the NFL.
[1:38:48] Speaker 3: Very similar.
[1:38:49] Speaker 1: He got boxed out here by Mike Evans, who is
[1:38:52] Speaker 1: a similar style of player in Sutton has been a
[1:38:55] Speaker 1: volume contested catch guy over the years. He kind of
[1:38:57] Speaker 1: reminds me of a lesser T Higgins if T Higgins
[1:39:00] Speaker 1: had his own team, Like this is what it would
[1:39:02] Speaker 1: look like for T Higgins. Ye, I think a little bit,
[1:39:05] Speaker 1: and yet I just want to take someone I'm more
[1:39:07] Speaker 1: excited to just see on that graphic. I feel wrong
[1:39:10] Speaker 1: about not having Melik Neighbors on the graphic. So I
[1:39:14] Speaker 1: know he's injured, and that's like, what are we even
[1:39:17] Speaker 1: doing with this?
[1:39:17] Speaker 3: But I don't care.
[1:39:18] Speaker 1: I want to just slide him in at thirty two
[1:39:20] Speaker 1: because he's Malik freaking Neighbors and he's a unique style.
[1:39:25] Speaker 3: But I mean his.
[1:39:29] Speaker 1: Like, even before he got hurt last year, his percentage
[1:39:32] Speaker 1: of air yards was the highest in the NFL, you
[1:39:36] Speaker 1: know as a rookie, Like he's top five in targets
[1:39:39] Speaker 1: per you know, air yard all this, Like you can
[1:39:42] Speaker 1: build a lot of the offense around him, and I
[1:39:44] Speaker 1: do think he's another level, Like he's not as z
[1:39:47] Speaker 1: A Flowers like he is. No, No, he is at
[1:39:50] Speaker 1: a much higher like I don't know if it's OBJ level,
[1:39:54] Speaker 1: but it's just it's so exciting that even if he's
[1:39:58] Speaker 1: not ready in this injury is really concerning, I just
[1:40:02] Speaker 1: want to slide him in here at the end and
[1:40:03] Speaker 1: just just have them represented.
[1:40:05] Speaker 2: As a prospect, even in his rookie year. He's one
[1:40:08] Speaker 2: of those guys where it's like the coaching me it
[1:40:10] Speaker 2: was like, oh, he doesn't do this right, doesn't do
[1:40:12] Speaker 2: this right, and then the personnel evalue evaluator in me
[1:40:14] Speaker 2: it was like, but he does this, but he creates
[1:40:17] Speaker 2: an explosive play every time he touches it, but he
[1:40:20] Speaker 2: throws catches it one handed behind his back as he's
[1:40:23] Speaker 2: falling out of bounds. Like I can't teach that if
[1:40:27] Speaker 2: he were healthy and everything's hunky dory. He's low teens
[1:40:31] Speaker 2: for me, Like, you know, you know that's probably the
[1:40:33] Speaker 2: range of the Lave range, you know, Garrett Wilson, Yeah,
[1:40:36] Speaker 2: that's about right. Volatile guys, and because the talent's there,
[1:40:40] Speaker 2: like he has top five talent, it's just you know now,
[1:40:43] Speaker 2: it's just that health self. And again that draft quest
[1:40:47] Speaker 2: was so cool with him and Harrison Junior and and
[1:40:49] Speaker 2: even a doonsa was It was so hard. It was
[1:40:52] Speaker 2: so many parts of my brain screaming at each other
[1:40:55] Speaker 2: about what I valued the most. So far, no one's
[1:40:58] Speaker 2: really been right. I guess if you're the Neighbors guy,
[1:41:01] Speaker 2: you could say you're right there. But yeah, man, he's
[1:41:03] Speaker 2: just so talented. I totally get this pick. But again,
[1:41:05] Speaker 2: I told you I had no idea what to do
[1:41:07] Speaker 2: with him with the hell stuff.
[1:41:08] Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean I feel a little weird about
[1:41:10] Speaker 1: because either like we're saying he's going to be healthy
[1:41:12] Speaker 1: and then he would be higher, or he's not and
[1:41:14] Speaker 1: then he wouldn't even be honest.
[1:41:16] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:41:16] Speaker 3: Yeah, Like Stton I mentioned, was next on my list.
[1:41:19] Speaker 1: The other names, the probably the other guy would have taken,
[1:41:22] Speaker 1: just because I want to give him a shout out,
[1:41:24] Speaker 1: is Jordan Addison, who I think is really an underrated
[1:41:28] Speaker 1: players just so good on the outside, Like the outbreaking
[1:41:33] Speaker 1: routes are just outrageous for him as a rookie, he
[1:41:36] Speaker 1: was so good and so Addison Sutton, I thought a
[1:41:39] Speaker 1: little Jacoby Meyer certainly Marvin Harrison Junior, Josh Downs if
[1:41:43] Speaker 1: we were really going deep of the names I thought
[1:41:47] Speaker 1: I thought about, but yeah, he can only choose one.
[1:41:49] Speaker 1: I just let's get on this list. I apologize to
[1:41:54] Speaker 1: Jordan Addison. I believe in you, a little bit of
[1:41:56] Speaker 1: a a little bit of a can you trust this
[1:41:59] Speaker 1: guy factor to him?
[1:42:00] Speaker 3: But hell of a player of a player.
[1:42:02] Speaker 2: The Vikings. Vikings have a weird shape. Every player seems
[1:42:05] Speaker 2: like they have a weirdly shaped chip on their shoulder
[1:42:07] Speaker 2: this year. That's why. That's why I'm betting on them.
[1:42:10] Speaker 2: I'm betting that it all works out. I think ticked off.
[1:42:13] Speaker 2: I think Kyler's ticked off. I think Justin Jefferson's ticked off.
[1:42:17] Speaker 2: I don't think Jawan Jennings has kicked off. How the
[1:42:19] Speaker 2: forty and Iras run ended like so, I don't know.
[1:42:21] Speaker 2: I'm that's that's very much a like narrative scouting. That's
[1:42:25] Speaker 2: why I'm kind of bullish on the Viking. So I
[1:42:27] Speaker 2: liked it. I like jordanas I he's I had him
[1:42:29] Speaker 2: as receiver one in that class. I had him and
[1:42:31] Speaker 2: Jayson I have kind of the same grade. I just
[1:42:34] Speaker 2: didn't know what to do with both of them. I
[1:42:36] Speaker 2: was like, I really like you guys, but I wouldn't
[1:42:38] Speaker 2: take you top twenty. And they've both been good players.
[1:42:41] Speaker 3: Jakobe Myers also just I feel bad still not getting
[1:42:45] Speaker 3: taken was right on the border line. Teams that could
[1:42:47] Speaker 3: have a chip on their shoulder didn't get drafted. Any
[1:42:50] Speaker 3: receivers here at Dolphins, I mean Dolphins fans, I'm sorry
[1:42:52] Speaker 3: it wasn't gonna happen. The Browns, no one was particularly close.
[1:42:56] Speaker 3: Carnell Tait. You mentioned with the Titans, but you know
[1:42:58] Speaker 3: they got Wandale. They don't.
[1:42:59] Speaker 1: They don't have a time thirty two receiver right now.
[1:43:01] Speaker 1: Neither does the Raiders, but they have Brock Bowers. And
[1:43:04] Speaker 1: then yeah, Rasi Rice did not make it. So the
[1:43:07] Speaker 1: Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes, I think those were the only
[1:43:10] Speaker 1: teams that didn't have anyone taken.
[1:43:12] Speaker 3: And Marvin Harrison Junior prove us wrong.
[1:43:15] Speaker 2: Rashi Rice didn't have this last month. I would uh,
[1:43:18] Speaker 2: you know, that's just hard for me to PLoP out
[1:43:21] Speaker 2: of my brain. But I've always been highering Rashi Rice
[1:43:24] Speaker 2: than I think a lot of people there are are.
[1:43:26] Speaker 2: This is just on field stuff only because I do
[1:43:28] Speaker 2: think he's one of the best yat guys in the
[1:43:30] Speaker 2: league and has shown a little bit more. But it's
[1:43:32] Speaker 2: just consistency and whether you trust him, YadA, YadA, YadA.
[1:43:35] Speaker 2: But I think he is truly it. I think he's
[1:43:37] Speaker 2: a top twenty talent if I'm being honest. But it's yeah,
[1:43:41] Speaker 2: just I know, I know every time I talk about Rice,
[1:43:44] Speaker 2: I know Matt Harmon's always likes I can tell he's
[1:43:48] Speaker 2: being nice the entire time I'm being I'm talking about him.
[1:43:50] Speaker 2: But yeah, and then the Raiders, what about what about
[1:43:53] Speaker 2: my guy Tray Tucker?
[1:43:54] Speaker 3: You know, I mean, yeah, that would be a stretch.
[1:43:58] Speaker 2: Denzel Boston for the Browns.
[1:44:00] Speaker 1: Someday supposedly having a good Yeah, all right, we did it.
[1:44:06] Speaker 1: You know, Nate Tys does not have a chip on
[1:44:07] Speaker 1: his shoulder. He is feeling the love because I feel
[1:44:10] Speaker 1: like everyone's asking him to be to be their guest Barnwell,
[1:44:14] Speaker 1: you'll you.
[1:44:15] Speaker 3: Know hear him with Mina last week. We got him here.
[1:44:18] Speaker 1: He's taking a break, but he is cranking out great
[1:44:21] Speaker 1: shows at football three oh one. Everyone check out Nate Tice.
[1:44:25] Speaker 1: And then in this feed coming up this week, I'm uh,
[1:44:30] Speaker 1: I'm taking off a little bit I'm gonna go see
[1:44:32] Speaker 1: the in laws, and we're gonna have Patrick Claybah and
[1:44:35] Speaker 1: Nick Schook helping me out. But we have some great
[1:44:37] Speaker 1: content this week. We have some fun stuff over fourth
[1:44:41] Speaker 1: of July. We we've got our Quarterback show, which I'll
[1:44:43] Speaker 1: be a part of. So I'm not going anywhere too far.
[1:44:46] Speaker 1: We are at the summer. Thank you, Nate Tye, and
[1:44:49] Speaker 1: thank you all for listening. Let's get out of here.
[1:44:52] Speaker 1: I've been waiting for that music. Eric Gotta go Catch
[1:44:57] Speaker 1: a Bird. That was fun, and all the wide receivers
[1:45:01] Speaker 1: NFL Daily thirty two. Like I said, we will have
[1:45:04] Speaker 1: quarterbacks coming up later in the summer, but next time
[1:45:08] Speaker 1: you'll be hearing from Patrick Clayborn.
[1:45:09] Speaker 3: We'll see them
