[0:05] Speaker 1: Welcome to NFL Daily, where none of us are watching
[0:08] Speaker 1: the Dragon Show.
[0:09] Speaker 2: That's cool if you are, we hear at rips.
[0:12] Speaker 1: I'm your host, Jordan rod Rieg, filling in for Greg
[0:15] Speaker 1: Rosenthal as he's on vacation. I am joined by my
[0:19] Speaker 1: friend and the leader of the clay Bon Bonds. Well,
[0:22] Speaker 1: Patrick clay Bon, how are you?
[0:24] Speaker 2: Patrick?
[0:24] Speaker 3: I will not be charged as an accessory to anything
[0:27] Speaker 3: that a group of people who have chosen for some reason,
[0:29] Speaker 3: you're admirers who align themselves with me. I am innocent
[0:33] Speaker 3: of all charges, but shout out to anybody that deals
[0:35] Speaker 3: with me.
[0:36] Speaker 1: The clay Bon Vivants also joined by a longtime friend
[0:40] Speaker 1: of mine, new friend of NFL Daily. He is the
[0:43] Speaker 1: athletics senior Chicago Bears reporter and host of the Breaking
[0:47] Speaker 1: in Sports media podcast, My buddy, Kevin Fishbain.
[0:51] Speaker 2: Welcome, Kevin, Thank you so much for having me.
[0:52] Speaker 4: I am a listener to this show, an admirer of
[0:55] Speaker 4: the two of you. Oh, so it's an honor to
[0:57] Speaker 4: be here.
[0:57] Speaker 2: Are you a clay Bon Bonds?
[1:00] Speaker 5: I mean I was.
[1:01] Speaker 4: Actually I was trying to think of what Jordan's hive
[1:04] Speaker 4: would be called.
[1:05] Speaker 2: No, we are not doing that now.
[1:07] Speaker 5: We should absolutely do that.
[1:09] Speaker 2: It is We're not doing that.
[1:10] Speaker 5: Oh man, it's the possibilities are flowing through my head
[1:13] Speaker 5: right now.
[1:13] Speaker 2: Yeah, don't.
[1:14] Speaker 5: We're not going to use that whole ad campaign. No,
[1:16] Speaker 5: Kev's on it.
[1:16] Speaker 1: Kevin, I have to ask, are you at all nervous
[1:20] Speaker 1: about your first appearance on NFL Daily and follow up?
[1:23] Speaker 1: Are you disappointed it is with me and not the
[1:25] Speaker 1: main host Craig Rose?
[1:28] Speaker 4: Uh, yes, yes, all, yes, I mean I am nervous.
[1:34] Speaker 4: I when I got the email, I was looking for
[1:37] Speaker 4: Greg and to see Ce. Didn't see you there. I
[1:40] Speaker 4: thought he would zoom in from vacation. I'm a little offended,
[1:43] Speaker 4: but you know, you just gotta, we gotta just to
[1:45] Speaker 4: adapt and roll with the punches.
[1:46] Speaker 1: Yeah, you recently did get the Rosenthal follow on social media,
[1:51] Speaker 1: so I know that was a big, a big day
[1:53] Speaker 1: for you. I'm just sort of blowing up our group
[1:55] Speaker 1: chat here on the spot, so we are. I feel like, Kevin,
[1:59] Speaker 1: you're a perfec addition to this, I know you've been
[2:02] Speaker 1: on paternity to leave.
[2:03] Speaker 2: Congratulations again.
[2:05] Speaker 1: We are actually at the peak of the quiet period
[2:08] Speaker 1: of the NFL off season. Just on the other side
[2:10] Speaker 1: of this, it's all chaos and darkness and excitement and
[2:14] Speaker 1: you know, whatever happens.
[2:16] Speaker 2: But we're starting to wonder.
[2:18] Speaker 1: What are these teams actually going to be about this year?
[2:23] Speaker 1: So if you will imagine with me, folks, Patrick, Kevin
[2:30] Speaker 1: and myself are the three mid level creatives and a
[2:33] Speaker 1: very mediocre marketing firm desperate to get a couple of
[2:36] Speaker 1: ideas to stick for some NFL teams, whether it's a
[2:40] Speaker 1: slogan or a catchphrase, an initiative or a general theme.
[2:45] Speaker 1: And we really really need this, guys. Jobs are on
[2:49] Speaker 1: the line here. Our last campaign was the catchphrase why
[2:53] Speaker 1: not us? And after that own goal, that one really
[2:57] Speaker 1: flipped around on us. So Patrick, no pressure, lots of pressure.
[3:03] Speaker 1: Let's go ahead and start with your pitch to the
[3:05] Speaker 1: Buffalo Bills.
[3:06] Speaker 4: Okay, I am for all of mine.
[3:09] Speaker 3: I am so excited to talk to this coalition of
[3:12] Speaker 3: billionaires representing every different team. And I thought, what more
[3:16] Speaker 3: could groups of billionaires love than the thing that they
[3:19] Speaker 3: are investing in the most in choosing our society to
[3:22] Speaker 3: lean into.
[3:23] Speaker 4: And that's plagiarism at the moment.
[3:25] Speaker 6: WHOA.
[3:25] Speaker 3: So I've decided to reach back and look at some
[3:27] Speaker 3: famous ad campaigns and tie them to your Team. Buffalo
[3:30] Speaker 3: Bills and almost thirty years ago, NBC had a problem.
[3:34] Speaker 3: They had a mega lineup of must see content that
[3:37] Speaker 3: was literally branded as such, Will Engrace, Third Rock News Radio, Matt,
[3:41] Speaker 3: About You, and Yes finally vanquished the show. Having finally
[3:45] Speaker 3: vanquished the show that provided its concept and basis, Living
[3:48] Speaker 3: Single Friends was at its peak, but they needed to
[3:51] Speaker 3: promote a summer lineup. These are shows that almost everyone
[3:55] Speaker 3: had seen four years. It's before TVO VCR plus wasn't
[3:59] Speaker 3: widely accepted, so if you missed it, it was gone.
[4:02] Speaker 3: So the summer return promotion proudly exclaimed, if you haven't
[4:06] Speaker 3: seen it, it's new to you. That's the twenty twenty
[4:09] Speaker 3: seven Buffalo Bills. Of course there's a lot of carryover.
[4:12] Speaker 3: Of course, the guy calling the plays is calling all
[4:14] Speaker 3: the shots now. But that's our cell to the people.
[4:17] Speaker 3: You've seen the Bills, but you haven't seen these bills.
[4:20] Speaker 3: A redemption arc for Keon Coleban, Bradley Chubb is here.
[4:23] Speaker 3: CJGJ does nothing but pick winners, and that's what we're
[4:26] Speaker 3: doing here.
[4:27] Speaker 5: They haven't seen it. It's new to them.
[4:29] Speaker 1: I mean, coming out of the gate strong for the
[4:33] Speaker 1: Buffalo Bills. On the other hand, I am speaking to
[4:36] Speaker 1: the Miami Dolphins today and I have a slogan idea,
[4:40] Speaker 1: trust us bro.
[4:44] Speaker 2: Kevin. How about the New England Patriots.
[4:46] Speaker 4: You guys remember the movie Wizard of Oz, right, absolutely,
[4:49] Speaker 4: so my Patriots slogan, and I'm pitching New England. Pay
[4:53] Speaker 4: no attention to the man behind the curtain. Because, as
[4:59] Speaker 4: Jordan mentioned, I've been on a paternity leave for most
[5:01] Speaker 4: of the off seasons. I had to catch up a
[5:03] Speaker 4: lot on what's going on in New England. So I'm
[5:05] Speaker 4: reading about Drake May's shoulder, I'm reading about a second
[5:09] Speaker 4: round pick who's unsigned. I'm reading about the Super Bowl
[5:13] Speaker 4: runner up curse that we're all aware of. So when
[5:16] Speaker 4: I'm thinking about all those things, just like, no, don't
[5:20] Speaker 4: worry about the things behind the current. Focus on all
[5:23] Speaker 4: the good. This is a Patriots team that went to
[5:26] Speaker 4: the super Bowl. We've got this guy. Just ignore all
[5:28] Speaker 4: those things, don't worry about it.
[5:29] Speaker 1: We're good.
[5:30] Speaker 2: I'm talking to the New York Jets.
[5:32] Speaker 1: Always a risky move, embracing myself to do so. I
[5:36] Speaker 1: sort of embraced a little bit of the darkness. But
[5:40] Speaker 1: I think I can convince some people in the building
[5:44] Speaker 1: here on this potential slogan or catchphrase or even like
[5:47] Speaker 1: just ethos to exist with for the New York Jets. Babe,
[5:52] Speaker 1: please stay with me. If I didn't love you so much,
[5:56] Speaker 1: I wouldn't have to hurt you like this.
[5:57] Speaker 2: Oh no, it's okay. Patrick Baltimore Ravens the.
[6:03] Speaker 5: Genus an abused.
[6:04] Speaker 4: Sorry.
[6:05] Speaker 3: Oh, it's so great to see all of you in
[6:07] Speaker 3: Owings Mills today. I am excited to be here. Imagine this.
[6:10] Speaker 3: You're new, practically a startup, and people are familiar with
[6:13] Speaker 3: their product and what it does, but you haven't been
[6:15] Speaker 3: able to communicate the essence of what it just is yet.
[6:18] Speaker 3: So you gather the flock to discuss and come up
[6:20] Speaker 3: with the fact that it energizes the body and mind.
[6:23] Speaker 3: That doesn't resonate with you guys, Well that makes sense
[6:26] Speaker 3: because that was the initial brand pitch idea behind Red
[6:29] Speaker 3: Bull before they decide that it gives you wings and
[6:33] Speaker 3: what do wings do? They liberate you from the truagery
[6:36] Speaker 3: of the old times. Greg Roman is in Easter Otherford.
[6:40] Speaker 3: You remind people of the change that was actually provided
[6:43] Speaker 3: by a generational talent at a key position. The twenty
[6:45] Speaker 3: twenty seven Baltimore Ravens. It gives you wings because wings
[6:49] Speaker 3: not only come with the possibility of flight, they come
[6:51] Speaker 3: with the hope of it, the audacity to challenge gravity itself.
[6:54] Speaker 5: You don't do that with the weight of history.
[6:56] Speaker 4: You do that by uplifting what remains with something new.
[7:00] Speaker 2: Listen, I'm all in. I'm ready to run through a wall.
[7:03] Speaker 1: Good for the Ravens, the PR champions of the twenty
[7:07] Speaker 1: twenty six It all went great off season so far.
[7:11] Speaker 1: Don't worry about anything else. Let's go on to the
[7:13] Speaker 1: Cincinnati Bengals with Kevin.
[7:16] Speaker 4: How many marketing executives have walked into the Cincinnati Bengals
[7:19] Speaker 4: facility and been handed a bowl of Skyline Chili and
[7:22] Speaker 4: kind of paused and they kind of look at it
[7:25] Speaker 4: and they go, what are we going to do with this? Well,
[7:27] Speaker 4: you know what, here's your slogan, guys, Let's make Skyline
[7:30] Speaker 4: Chili sexy again. Because every year there's that one team
[7:35] Speaker 4: that is the sexy pick to take over the league.
[7:39] Speaker 4: Have to go from last place to first place, worse
[7:41] Speaker 4: to first. Everyone's jumping on the Bengals hype train, and
[7:45] Speaker 4: when the Bengals are good, people are talking about Skyline.
[7:49] Speaker 4: People are excited about Skyline. So let's take some pressure
[7:51] Speaker 4: off the players and coaches and let's put it on
[7:53] Speaker 4: the chili and feel good about this. These expectations that
[7:58] Speaker 4: are back for Joey b and the Bengals.
[8:00] Speaker 1: Yeah, D center, the roster D center, the injuries, D center,
[8:06] Speaker 1: the quarterback malcontent nature by the end of the season.
[8:11] Speaker 1: Instead place everything the burden of an entire city like
[8:15] Speaker 1: some shredded cheese.
[8:17] Speaker 2: On top of the chili.
[8:18] Speaker 3: Yeah, you've already acquired a player who literally goes by sexy, right,
[8:23] Speaker 3: and you have him and Joe and Jamar in a
[8:25] Speaker 3: campaign where there's chili dribbling.
[8:27] Speaker 5: I mean, come on, it sells itself.
[8:30] Speaker 2: I'm all about the Cleveland Browns, you know who Listen.
[8:39] Speaker 1: I know I've been charged with a tall task here,
[8:41] Speaker 1: but I think I've got something that all of you.
[8:44] Speaker 1: And you're still here, ha on you and you're still
[8:48] Speaker 1: here and wow, you're still here too, Oh my gosh.
[8:51] Speaker 4: Uh.
[8:51] Speaker 1: Anyway, my slogan idea is, let's get ready for twenty
[8:55] Speaker 1: twenty seven, maybe twenty twenty eight.
[9:00] Speaker 2: Pittsburgh Steelers, Patrick, all the.
[9:02] Speaker 5: Pittsburgh Steelers, you know, guys ending things I'm so glad.
[9:05] Speaker 5: This is great. It's great to be here. There's three
[9:07] Speaker 5: rivers out there, this is incredible.
[9:08] Speaker 3: Ending things is never easy, but ending an entire concept
[9:11] Speaker 3: can sometimes feel impossible. That's the task that we face here.
[9:14] Speaker 3: Three coaches total since nineteen sixty nine, ounce four. There
[9:17] Speaker 3: probably won't be nineteen years of Mike McCarthy, but here's
[9:20] Speaker 3: here's one thing. A similar circumstance was faced by Volkswagen
[9:24] Speaker 3: in twenty nineteen when they initially decided to conclude the
[9:27] Speaker 3: run of the Beatle, a platform that had seen untold
[9:30] Speaker 3: success since it was initially produced in December of nineteen
[9:33] Speaker 3: forty five. Side note, we will not discuss the actions
[9:35] Speaker 3: of Volkswagen prior to them on this edition of the podcast.
[9:38] Speaker 3: That's coming up another podcast, another edition of this will
[9:43] Speaker 3: eventually come. And how did Volkswagen do that? By announcing
[9:47] Speaker 3: the last mile, that's what this is. That's what I
[9:50] Speaker 3: think of driving that last mile away from that mountain,
[9:53] Speaker 3: over those rivers and looking at this beautiful city.
[9:55] Speaker 4: And that's what we have here to sell to people.
[9:58] Speaker 4: The last mile of this version.
[10:00] Speaker 5: Of the Steelers.
[10:01] Speaker 1: Was it difficult for you to pitch both the ravens
[10:04] Speaker 1: and the Steelers with similar enthusiasm.
[10:08] Speaker 3: No, because I feel like Steelers fans are probably used
[10:12] Speaker 3: to a particular attitude, but they're probably used to the
[10:14] Speaker 3: actions of their football team as well.
[10:16] Speaker 2: So you know, it's like hypothermia. You just slowly go
[10:20] Speaker 2: number right and then you're gone. All right.
[10:23] Speaker 1: So I've got the Houston Texans. Not a lot of
[10:26] Speaker 1: work for me to do here, folks. I just think
[10:28] Speaker 1: we got to keep it really really simple. Slogan for
[10:30] Speaker 1: twenty twenty six face meat fist, Kevin, you got the Colts.
[10:38] Speaker 4: I like the idea of a billboard, okay, and in
[10:42] Speaker 4: Blue Colts writing the Blue Colts font to the top,
[10:45] Speaker 4: it says this time it'll work with a big picture
[10:50] Speaker 4: of Daniel Jones with a very forced smile and is
[10:55] Speaker 4: surrounded by bubble wrap. So you get it.
[10:59] Speaker 1: So you get you get a local brand sponsor to
[11:03] Speaker 1: some Indianapolis manufacture.
[11:05] Speaker 2: Of bubble reps.
[11:06] Speaker 5: I'm sure.
[11:06] Speaker 4: I'm sure there's somebody close.
[11:07] Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm sure that. I mean, I like it that.
[11:11] Speaker 2: I think that is a winner. Jacksonville Jaguarars.
[11:14] Speaker 3: Patrick, I'm so glad to be back here in Duval
[11:17] Speaker 3: to talk to all of you, you know, sometimes things work.
[11:20] Speaker 5: You assemble what's available and it looks great. You make
[11:22] Speaker 5: a mid season deal for Jacoby Myers.
[11:24] Speaker 3: Efficiency explodes and you go head to head with a
[11:26] Speaker 3: perennial AFC power but only a debilitating circumstance at corner
[11:29] Speaker 3: that you tried to address in the draft. But injuries
[11:31] Speaker 3: ruin that doom the outcomes. So now we have to
[11:35] Speaker 3: make a financial decision that will fundamentally change our product.
[11:38] Speaker 4: That's having the courage to change.
[11:41] Speaker 3: Devin Lloyd and Travis hchn were great pieces on both
[11:44] Speaker 3: sides of the ball, and the same way the three
[11:46] Speaker 3: and a half millimeter headphone jack was a great piece
[11:48] Speaker 3: on the iPhone, but marketing was put in a position
[11:51] Speaker 3: where they needed to justify a decision to not only
[11:53] Speaker 3: sell lightning splitter adapters, but AirPods in perpetuity as well.
[11:57] Speaker 3: We need people in the Yaku ecosystem. That's the courage
[12:01] Speaker 3: to change. That's what Apple said, and that's what we're
[12:03] Speaker 3: going to sell to the people here in Jacksonville.
[12:06] Speaker 7: Sometimes I just sit and stare at Patrick as he's talking,
[12:10] Speaker 7: because the things that your brain comes up with, it's like, yeah,
[12:15] Speaker 7: and there's and as far as I'm aware, no gummy involved,
[12:18] Speaker 7: you know, like I just know it's incredible.
[12:20] Speaker 3: This is just doing Insiders five days a week at
[12:23] Speaker 3: this point. Your boy yarns for creative.
[12:26] Speaker 1: Creative outlet. I love it speaking of some type of outlet.
[12:30] Speaker 1: The Tennessee Titans. That's you, Kevin, the.
[12:35] Speaker 4: Twenty twenty six Tennessee Titans. How can it be worse?
[12:44] Speaker 7: You know what?
[12:45] Speaker 2: Hard to argue, really hard to argue. That takes us
[12:48] Speaker 2: to the Broncos.
[12:49] Speaker 3: That to you again, Patrick, Okay, a loss in a
[12:53] Speaker 3: heartbreaking season where a quarterback was literally broken and one
[12:57] Speaker 3: of the more pyrrhic victories that we've seen in the
[12:58] Speaker 3: last twenty years of the NFL playoffs.
[13:00] Speaker 4: But bo Is back.
[13:01] Speaker 3: The team didn't subtract and they just waited for his return.
[13:04] Speaker 3: They've improved, They've not just stopped there. That they've added
[13:07] Speaker 3: with the ultimate confidence at a quarterback. And I'm reminded,
[13:10] Speaker 3: gentlemen and lady of a brand that was in a funk,
[13:16] Speaker 3: just the one' there's always one and that's Kentucky Fried
[13:20] Speaker 3: Chicken in twenty ten when they asked us to unthink
[13:23] Speaker 3: the conventional nature of a sandwich and trust in the
[13:26] Speaker 3: double down by telling its customers.
[13:28] Speaker 5: We don't have room for the bun.
[13:30] Speaker 3: And that's what we tell Denver Broncos fans two pieces
[13:34] Speaker 3: of fried chicken, bacon and a sauce. We're doubling down
[13:37] Speaker 3: on the talents and abilities of bo Nicks. We've added
[13:40] Speaker 3: jail and waddle. We don't have room for bun.
[13:44] Speaker 4: Epic.
[13:46] Speaker 1: I think you know, I think that will really resonate
[13:49] Speaker 1: with them. They've kept a lot of things the same
[13:51] Speaker 1: over the last couple of couple of offseasons.
[13:53] Speaker 5: So you double on more chicken.
[13:59] Speaker 1: I've got the cant the City Chiefs. Actually we could
[14:02] Speaker 1: probably skip these guys. They're doing okay as a brand
[14:04] Speaker 1: these days.
[14:05] Speaker 2: Kevin. You got the Raiders.
[14:09] Speaker 5: That counts as.
[14:10] Speaker 3: Doubt in the disrespect by the way, chip watch they're
[14:13] Speaker 3: gonna try.
[14:15] Speaker 4: Finally, the Raiders have an easy marketing pitch. You have
[14:21] Speaker 4: the most likable quarterback who has never taken an NFL snap,
[14:26] Speaker 4: and it's just a picture of smiling Mendoza all over
[14:30] Speaker 4: Vegas and says, who does not love our quarterback?
[14:36] Speaker 1: And just look over here as we fix all fix
[14:39] Speaker 1: all the rest of this. And then Tom Brady seethes
[14:41] Speaker 1: in the corner because he's not the one on the billboards.
[14:44] Speaker 1: I can see it coming right now, A great smile. Yeah,
[14:47] Speaker 1: I've got the Los Angeles Chargers. I have a merch
[14:50] Speaker 1: idea ladies and gentlemen in the boardroom. Here, what if
[14:56] Speaker 1: we manufactured a draw string Jim Harbaugh doll and a
[15:01] Speaker 1: draw string Mike McDaniel Doll, and we put them for
[15:05] Speaker 1: sale in the team shop and every time you pull
[15:08] Speaker 1: the string they say something funny. And also it's really
[15:12] Speaker 1: weird that the Harbad Dolls eyes follow you everywhere.
[15:17] Speaker 5: They never stop.
[15:19] Speaker 2: Cowboys, Patrick, the.
[15:20] Speaker 3: Twenty twenty seven Dallas Cowboys Jones is. I am so
[15:24] Speaker 3: glad to be in your presence. It's an honor. I
[15:27] Speaker 3: want to look back at all the history, but just
[15:29] Speaker 3: a part of it jumps out to me. In seasons
[15:31] Speaker 3: where Dak Prescott was a leading passer for the Dallas Cowboys,
[15:34] Speaker 3: here's the final offensive ranking in terms of scoring fourteenth
[15:37] Speaker 3: twenty second, sixth fifth fifth forced forced fourth first first
[15:45] Speaker 3: the defensive rankings. I'm not going to talk to you
[15:47] Speaker 3: about it because they weren't necessarily that great. That's why
[15:52] Speaker 3: I would like to adopt the ad campaign that was
[15:55] Speaker 3: utilized by Wells Fargo in twenty eighteen, earning back your trust. Yes,
[16:00] Speaker 3: while the company was opening accounts on behalf of customers
[16:03] Speaker 3: that they never asked for, they needed to come back
[16:05] Speaker 3: and have a statement that they were earning back the trust.
[16:08] Speaker 3: And after trading away your best defensive player, that trust
[16:12] Speaker 3: was eroded.
[16:13] Speaker 5: But not now.
[16:15] Speaker 4: The twenty twenty seven Dallas Cowboys are earning back your trust.
[16:21] Speaker 4: I love that one.
[16:22] Speaker 1: Yeah, when you can, when you can align yourself with
[16:26] Speaker 1: often questionable financial giant corporations, mega corporations, in fact, you
[16:33] Speaker 1: simply must do it.
[16:35] Speaker 2: Kevin, you've got the New York Giants.
[16:37] Speaker 4: My New York Giants slogan does have some fine print,
[16:40] Speaker 4: so listen carefully because there is a parenthetical here. Who's
[16:44] Speaker 4: got it better than Jackson Dart? Don't answer that possibilities?
[16:53] Speaker 1: See Patrick, I told you he would do Yeah, non,
[16:57] Speaker 1: any and all possible.
[16:58] Speaker 5: Greg Romanshade is always a.
[17:03] Speaker 2: Okay.
[17:03] Speaker 1: I've got the Philadelphia Eagles. Now tough building to walk into.
[17:07] Speaker 1: You know there are still people tailgating in the parking lot,
[17:11] Speaker 1: and you know it's a rule that you do not
[17:13] Speaker 1: wear the opposing teams jerseys or colors when you walk in.
[17:18] Speaker 2: But hear me out.
[17:18] Speaker 1: Speaking of jerseys, guys, a jersey buyback program wherein fans
[17:24] Speaker 1: can turn in their old aj brown jerseys and in
[17:27] Speaker 1: addition to proper financial compensation equal to the costs of
[17:31] Speaker 1: the jersey, they will receive a case of youngling and
[17:34] Speaker 1: a pack of batteries.
[17:37] Speaker 5: What do we think, Yeah, yeah, the batteries of course.
[17:41] Speaker 4: You know, speak to a community in a moment.
[17:43] Speaker 2: It really brings people together.
[17:44] Speaker 5: Yeah, it's united one way or the other.
[17:47] Speaker 2: Yes, Washington Commanders.
[17:49] Speaker 3: Ah, yes, the Washington Commanders. Hey, guys, I'm glad the
[17:55] Speaker 3: other guy isn't here anymore and I could talk to you.
[17:57] Speaker 3: He probably wouldn't want to be in here with me.
[17:59] Speaker 3: But I think about a brand that wants to return
[18:04] Speaker 3: to some success, and there was so much recent success,
[18:07] Speaker 3: and that success is linked to McDonald's and the angle
[18:11] Speaker 3: return of the McRib most recently utilizing the slogan it
[18:15] Speaker 3: can only mean one thing. Well, now Jaden's back, Hope
[18:19] Speaker 3: is back, dan Quinn has fired almost everybody. There is change,
[18:24] Speaker 3: and that change can only mean one thing.
[18:27] Speaker 4: The commanders.
[18:29] Speaker 5: I love this.
[18:32] Speaker 1: One thing about Patrick's marketing initiatives too, that I think
[18:36] Speaker 1: are really precious to the listener is there often contains
[18:40] Speaker 1: some important subtext, and so go back and listen a
[18:43] Speaker 1: couple of times. I think, similar to his famous one
[18:48] Speaker 1: man play featuring the Jones family and Cowboys earlier this season.
[18:52] Speaker 1: Really there's some Easter eggs in there, East Eggs everywhere,
[18:56] Speaker 1: And Kevin, is it still the Chicago Bears or have
[19:00] Speaker 1: they moved yet? Or what's the what's the situation here?
[19:04] Speaker 4: You know, I thought about taking this opportunity in this
[19:07] Speaker 4: marketing platform to ridicule the Chicago Bears, who have led
[19:14] Speaker 4: the league in statements about stadiums to which they have
[19:18] Speaker 4: not moved to yet. But you know what, we're gonna
[19:22] Speaker 4: We're gonna be a little bit more positive because it's
[19:25] Speaker 4: Kayleb Williams, it's Ben Johnson, and you guys see over
[19:28] Speaker 4: my shoulder for those of you watching, I got a
[19:30] Speaker 4: Chicago Cubs pennant. And there was a late great Chicago
[19:34] Speaker 4: Cubs player and broadcast named Ron Santo, and every year
[19:37] Speaker 4: he would say this is the year, and for the
[19:40] Speaker 4: Kyle Cubs it never was until it finally was. Now
[19:43] Speaker 4: the Bears curse has not lasted one hundred years. It's
[19:45] Speaker 4: only been forty one. However, It's just simple. It's just
[19:50] Speaker 4: a question. Is this the year we leave it to
[19:53] Speaker 4: the fans?
[19:54] Speaker 1: Just?
[19:54] Speaker 4: Is this the year got your the Bears fans finally
[19:57] Speaker 4: have a quarterback, they finally have a head coach. It
[20:00] Speaker 4: might be, it could be we're just gonna let the
[20:02] Speaker 4: fans aside. Very simple, Is this the year?
[20:06] Speaker 1: My alternate suggestion, just for Bears fans in general, a
[20:10] Speaker 1: slogan is what the hell are you all still mad about?
[20:14] Speaker 2: But you know you brought it up yourself. The stadium thing.
[20:17] Speaker 1: It's like, hey, we have to give them something to
[20:20] Speaker 1: be upset over. Everything on the field seems to be
[20:23] Speaker 1: going right, so why not create some unforced errors. I
[20:27] Speaker 1: know you just love that topic and you've enjoyed covering it.
[20:31] Speaker 1: Kevin Patrick, I think we've got the Detroit Lions next.
[20:35] Speaker 3: Ah. Yes, the Detroit Lions, a team that felt like
[20:38] Speaker 3: America's team. Ford Family, It is wonderful to be in
[20:42] Speaker 3: your presence today. And when I think about making these
[20:46] Speaker 3: pitches again to billionaires, I think about a pitch that
[20:49] Speaker 3: went to a lot of people with money years ago.
[20:52] Speaker 3: And that's a famous statement uttered by Matt Damon during
[20:56] Speaker 3: a Super Bowl commercial. Fortune favors the bold, and while yes,
[20:59] Speaker 3: our elective investment in cryptocurrency has significantly declined since that moment,
[21:04] Speaker 3: we can make an investment in one of the most
[21:07] Speaker 3: exciting players in the National Football League, and that is
[21:10] Speaker 3: Jamir Gibbs. When we made the decision to draft Jamir Gibbs,
[21:14] Speaker 3: there are all sorts of critiques and criticisms, but it
[21:17] Speaker 3: was bold and when we pay him, it will also
[21:20] Speaker 3: be bold because fortune favors the bold.
[21:23] Speaker 2: It's amazing.
[21:25] Speaker 4: You know.
[21:26] Speaker 1: When I was looking into market research for the Green
[21:28] Speaker 1: Bay Packers, who I am tasked with coming up with
[21:31] Speaker 1: slogan for, it was really interesting. You know. I don't
[21:34] Speaker 1: know if anyone knows this, but they are a publicly
[21:37] Speaker 1: owned team, so you're really voyaging into the masses here
[21:42] Speaker 1: to try to come up with what the slogan, for example,
[21:46] Speaker 1: in this case would be. I did voyage into the
[21:50] Speaker 1: Packers fans specifically on the Internet, and then immediately retreated.
[21:54] Speaker 1: My slogan idea is our fans don't fight on the
[21:57] Speaker 1: internet more than other fans.
[21:58] Speaker 2: It just seems like they do.
[22:02] Speaker 8: Minnesota Vikings, Kevin, We're going movie poster for the Vikings
[22:06] Speaker 8: this year and shout out to my friend and Jordan's
[22:10] Speaker 8: and our colleague Alec Lewis, who helped me workshop this
[22:13] Speaker 8: late late last night.
[22:15] Speaker 4: So here's your movie poster, and in purple writing, it
[22:17] Speaker 4: says the twenty twenty six Vikings, and right under that
[22:20] Speaker 4: six it says, don't fret it's an even year. Just
[22:24] Speaker 4: those who remember the Vikings are only good in even years.
[22:28] Speaker 4: Now around the six, I'm not done yet, because we're
[22:31] Speaker 4: going to be artists here. Around that six is going
[22:34] Speaker 4: to be little pictures of Kirk Cousins, Sam Darnold, JJ McCarthy,
[22:38] Speaker 4: Joshua Dobbs, Max Brosmer and Kyler Murray. And they're right
[22:41] Speaker 4: in the middle of the six, is Kevin O'Connell.
[22:45] Speaker 1: I love it a little subtext there visually, Yes, I
[22:48] Speaker 1: love it. Well, good luck to you on this Patrick,
[22:52] Speaker 1: You've got the Atlanta Falcons.
[22:54] Speaker 3: I've got the Atlanta Falcons, and mister Blank, it is
[22:56] Speaker 3: so glod to be here with you and your multiple
[22:59] Speaker 3: different teams of consultants from multiple different agencies. As a consultant,
[23:03] Speaker 3: I'm so glad to be in You made it presence
[23:06] Speaker 3: as well. Yes, there is a cycle, a revolving cycle
[23:10] Speaker 3: that we feel and sometimes we associate that cycle the
[23:13] Speaker 3: Atlanta Falcons with disappointment. But what if I think we
[23:16] Speaker 3: can turn that around metaphorically and literally by calling to
[23:20] Speaker 3: some of the fan base's adherence to a great philosophy
[23:24] Speaker 3: regarding auto racing.
[23:26] Speaker 5: Drive fast and turn left.
[23:28] Speaker 3: Yes, we will make oval loops around the same circumstances,
[23:33] Speaker 3: but now we do it with not one but two
[23:35] Speaker 3: left handed quarterbacks. Yes, who have a little bit of
[23:38] Speaker 3: a history of injuries. But we can go in guns
[23:41] Speaker 3: blazon driving fast and turn and left.
[23:44] Speaker 4: You know it.
[23:45] Speaker 1: It is really really well thought out as absolutely incredible.
[23:50] Speaker 1: I think when a team has faced such adverse circumstances
[23:53] Speaker 1: as the Falcons have in recent seasons, you do need
[23:56] Speaker 1: to prop them up a little bit more with your
[23:59] Speaker 1: marketing plan.
[24:00] Speaker 2: Well.
[24:00] Speaker 1: The Panthers, on the other hand, the Carolina Panthers, I
[24:03] Speaker 1: am pleased to share that it really is very simple.
[24:06] Speaker 1: We're putting billboards all over the Queen City where they
[24:09] Speaker 1: call downtown uptown, and it's going to just say, actually, yeah,
[24:13] Speaker 1: we're getting better.
[24:14] Speaker 2: That's it. New Orleans Saints Kevin.
[24:18] Speaker 4: Well. I went to the Saints. They told me about
[24:21] Speaker 4: this quarterback they have Tyler Shock, And I said, why
[24:23] Speaker 4: we can do a lot with that, and there were
[24:29] Speaker 4: several that had some FCC restrictions on it, so we
[24:32] Speaker 4: wanted to be a little more careful. And instead of
[24:36] Speaker 4: no one's talking about us, how about no one's talking
[24:39] Speaker 4: about Shock. And that's the way we like it. Really
[24:43] Speaker 4: is anybody talking about the New Orleans Saints and they
[24:45] Speaker 4: should be Tyler Shuck was good at the end of
[24:48] Speaker 4: last year. No one's talking about Shuck.
[24:51] Speaker 2: I love it, fantastic.
[24:53] Speaker 1: I've got the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wear on T shirts,
[24:58] Speaker 1: slurpy cups and the side trucks with you know, different
[25:03] Speaker 1: types of flags waving from them. It will be painted.
[25:06] Speaker 1: Why be different when you can just be the same
[25:11] Speaker 1: Arizona Cardinals, Patrick, the.
[25:13] Speaker 3: Arizona mister Bidwell. I loved what you did in terms
[25:17] Speaker 3: of marketing with that wedding hotel situation. It was incredible.
[25:20] Speaker 3: And here's what I think we can capture for your team.
[25:23] Speaker 4: What do we want?
[25:23] Speaker 3: We want growth, we want to uplift And I'm reminded
[25:27] Speaker 3: of the National Arbor Day campaign that utilized John Denver's
[25:30] Speaker 3: song plan a Tree for Your Tomorrow and by involving
[25:35] Speaker 3: ourselves in the tree of the National Football League. By
[25:39] Speaker 3: hiring not just a lafleur, but the available lafleur, we
[25:44] Speaker 3: can uplift this franchise and it's community's belief and what
[25:48] Speaker 3: we can accomplish.
[25:49] Speaker 5: Plant a tree for your tomorrow.
[25:51] Speaker 2: The available laflurd. Okay, Kevin la Rings.
[25:57] Speaker 4: Trying to figure out where you planted trees.
[26:01] Speaker 5: They slipped the stadium, they slapped the field.
[26:03] Speaker 1: Actually it's a fake tree, which I guess you know,
[26:06] Speaker 1: metaphor upon metaphor feels real.
[26:09] Speaker 4: Though, I got one more billboard with fine print for
[26:13] Speaker 4: you guys, for the LA Rams. We've got a picture
[26:16] Speaker 4: of Sean McVay, Matthew Stafford and Miles Garrett, and above
[26:20] Speaker 4: them it says we've got it all, and the fine
[26:24] Speaker 4: print says, just don't ask about our first round pick.
[26:30] Speaker 2: Nice, well done.
[26:32] Speaker 1: Seattle Seahawks, the reigning Super Bowl champions. Probably any easy
[26:36] Speaker 1: cell here for them.
[26:37] Speaker 3: Patrick, Yes, the Seattle Seahawks are undergoing a bit of
[26:43] Speaker 3: a transition, to the extent that I'm glad I was
[26:46] Speaker 3: able to gather you guys here today because I don't
[26:48] Speaker 3: even necessarily know who I'm talking to, but I am
[26:52] Speaker 3: reminded of recent success from a lot of brands that
[26:56] Speaker 3: have been very, very, very productive in their capacity to
[27:01] Speaker 3: produce almost nothing, and that is large language models, the
[27:08] Speaker 3: Seattle Seahawks.
[27:11] Speaker 5: Maybe that's it. That's a belief. It's hard to do
[27:18] Speaker 5: it again.
[27:18] Speaker 4: Can we do it?
[27:20] Speaker 5: Maybe? Chat?
[27:22] Speaker 7: Can we do it?
[27:23] Speaker 3: Oh?
[27:24] Speaker 2: It felt terrible taste in my mouth saying that out loud.
[27:29] Speaker 1: All right, now I have brought in the help of
[27:32] Speaker 1: a musical guest to help me with my pitch to
[27:36] Speaker 1: the forty nine ers, brash. You know, they've just hosted
[27:38] Speaker 1: the World Cup. They're into soccer, now, they're in basketball,
[27:42] Speaker 1: They're doing all sorts of things organizationally. But there's one
[27:46] Speaker 1: thing that the forty nine ers could be doing organizationally.
[27:50] Speaker 2: Hit it, Eric Rose, Are you ready to maximize your performance?
[27:55] Speaker 6: Packed your aging body with the latest fitness program Man
[27:58] Speaker 6: for Men, Drag your Rod Karkass and the most maximized,
[28:01] Speaker 6: optimized version of yourself and watch yourself dominate accept.
[28:06] Speaker 2: Station not included. You know, I think we hit at
[28:11] Speaker 2: least a third of these Full disclosure.
[28:14] Speaker 3: We ran the Christian McCaffrey ig video of him working
[28:16] Speaker 3: out with that trainer Ido Portal. I went to his
[28:20] Speaker 3: website the other day and there's like Huberman videos. It
[28:23] Speaker 3: is everything that I hate in the world condensed into
[28:27] Speaker 3: the pitch.
[28:27] Speaker 2: For I'm just sack your life.
[28:29] Speaker 5: I'm I'm struggling pack your.
[28:31] Speaker 2: Life with the forty nine ers, you know, I mean,
[28:33] Speaker 2: it's right there in the pitch.
[28:34] Speaker 5: That's it. That is their pitch, and it would work
[28:36] Speaker 5: for them.
[28:36] Speaker 1: Kevin, what did you think of your first ever appearance
[28:39] Speaker 1: on NFL Daily. Was it as analytically intense and in
[28:43] Speaker 1: depth and wide ranging and serious as I know you
[28:46] Speaker 1: expected it to be.
[28:49] Speaker 4: It was I felt like I was on a documentary
[28:51] Speaker 4: set and I'm just I'm just like waiting, like, is
[28:54] Speaker 4: Greg gonna just pop up at the end. It surprised me.
[28:58] Speaker 4: What do you think that that that Netflix doc music?
[29:01] Speaker 2: All Right?
[29:01] Speaker 5: All right, all right, walk in and sit in the chair.
[29:03] Speaker 1: All right, hit the music, Come on, get him out
[29:05] Speaker 1: of here, give him the hook, get him.
[29:07] Speaker 2: Off the stage.
[29:08] Speaker 1: You guys, this has been a really fun week of
[29:10] Speaker 1: NFL Daily. I've gotten to see a lot of my friends,
[29:13] Speaker 1: whether virtually or in person. Thank you guys so much
[29:17] Speaker 1: for joining me this week as I filled in for
[29:18] Speaker 1: the great Greg Rosenthal, who is not here for Patrick Claibond.
[29:22] Speaker 2: For Kevin Fishbain. I'm Jordan Rodrigue. See you next week.
