[0:07] Speaker 1: You're just in time for the best of the Bible
[0:09] Speaker 1: answer Man broadcast with Hank Canagraph, the radio outreach of
[0:13] Speaker 1: the Christian Research Institute. Our purpose here at CROI is
[0:18] Speaker 1: to equip Christians to provide Biblical answers to life's most
[0:21] Speaker 1: important questions, to read the Bible for all it's worth,
[0:26] Speaker 1: and counter the teachings of cults and world religions that
[0:29] Speaker 1: deviate from the plumb line of God's Word, because life
[0:33] Speaker 1: and truth matter. For more information, to order resources or donate,

[0:48] Speaker 1: program was pre recorded. Now here's the president of the
[0:52] Speaker 1: Christian Research Institute, Hank Canagraph.
[0:55] Speaker 2: Thank you very much, Randy. I am so excited today
[0:58] Speaker 2: as I am writing about how Jesus Christ is the
[1:02] Speaker 2: fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies as the only one
[1:06] Speaker 2: who could walk through their doorway his ancestry from Abraham,
[1:12] Speaker 2: Isaac and jacob On, through Judah, Jesse, David, and then
[1:21] Speaker 2: the one who forever sits upon the throne of David
[1:26] Speaker 2: is True Israel. His prophesied birth in Bethlehem, his crucifixion
[1:33] Speaker 2: with criminals. Even the date that he would come is
[1:39] Speaker 2: fixed in a narrow doorway in history. And then today
[1:46] Speaker 2: I was writing about his extraordinary miracles in my book
[1:51] Speaker 2: has God spoken? Of course, the word it's a miracle
[1:56] Speaker 2: are not at all foreign to me. Under them. More
[2:00] Speaker 2: times than I can remember, I find a key that
[2:05] Speaker 2: fits a particular keyhole, and I exclaim it's a miracle.
[2:12] Speaker 2: I rediscover a keepsake and shout, it's a miracle. I
[2:19] Speaker 2: witness the birth of yet another kid and reverentially murmur,
[2:24] Speaker 2: it's a miracle. There is, however, a huge difference between
[2:31] Speaker 2: God's ordinary intrusions into the circumstances of our lives and
[2:36] Speaker 2: extraordinary miracles. Make no mistake, the birth of a baby
[2:42] Speaker 2: is a miracle, but not in the extraordinary sense. Extraordinary
[2:50] Speaker 2: miracles were those performed by Christ when he opened the
[2:54] Speaker 2: eyes of the blind and unstop the ears of the death,
[3:00] Speaker 2: when the lame leapt for joy, and Lazarus emerged from
[3:04] Speaker 2: the tomb dressed in the robes of his own funeral.
[3:09] Speaker 2: The extraordinary miracles wrought by the Savior were such that
[3:13] Speaker 2: the Sanhedron could not deny them. They knew that they
[3:18] Speaker 2: were witnesses to extraordinary miracles. They knew Messiah had emerged
[3:25] Speaker 2: through the doorway of Old Testament prophecies, and yet with
[3:30] Speaker 2: premeditation and forethought, they attributed these extraordinary miracles to Beelzebub,
[3:37] Speaker 2: the Prince of Demons. As such, their guilt remained. Luke
[3:44] Speaker 2: recalls how shortly after his temptation in the wilderness, Jesus
[3:48] Speaker 2: went into the synagogue in Nazareth. It was the Sabbath,
[3:52] Speaker 2: and there he was handed the scroll of Isaiah. Unrolling it,
[3:58] Speaker 2: he found the place where where it was written. The
[4:01] Speaker 2: spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has
[4:05] Speaker 2: anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He
[4:09] Speaker 2: has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners, in
[4:13] Speaker 2: recovery of sight, for the blind, to release the oppressed,
[4:19] Speaker 2: to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor. Upon rolling
[4:23] Speaker 2: up the scroll again, Jesus sat down to expound the
[4:28] Speaker 2: meaning of Isaiah sixty one. He began the exposition with
[4:34] Speaker 2: the words, today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.
[4:41] Speaker 2: As Isaiah sixty one was the interpretation of Isaiah's chapter
[4:46] Speaker 2: forty through fifty five, Jesus was pointing directly to himself
[4:53] Speaker 2: as the servant of the Lord, sent to reverse the
[4:58] Speaker 2: oppression of Israel, not from Roman subjugation, but from the
[5:04] Speaker 2: ruin of sin. As such, he identified himself as one
[5:08] Speaker 2: sent to heal the physically blind, so that spiritually they
[5:15] Speaker 2: could see the heart of Christ's message that Sabbath dayan
[5:20] Speaker 2: Nazareth was impossible to miss. The escoton had been inaugurated.
[5:28] Speaker 2: The miracles he did in their midst attested to the
[5:31] Speaker 2: reality that he was the extraordinary miracle worker the fulfillment
[5:39] Speaker 2: of Isaiah's prophecies. The Jews were intimately acquainted with the
[5:44] Speaker 2: prophecies of Isaiah. They knew that the coming of Messiah
[5:49] Speaker 2: would be heralded by extraordinary miracles. Then will the eyes
[5:55] Speaker 2: of the blind be opened and the ears of the
[5:58] Speaker 2: death unstopped. Isaiah had prophesied those words, but those words
[6:05] Speaker 2: were not alone. He went on to say, Then will
[6:08] Speaker 2: the lame leap like a deer, and the mute tongue
[6:13] Speaker 2: shout for joy? Water will gush forth in the wilderness,
[6:20] Speaker 2: and streams in the desert. The burning sand will become
[6:23] Speaker 2: a pool, the thirsty ground bubbling springs. Isaiah pointed past
[6:30] Speaker 2: the healing of eyes and ears to the healing of
[6:33] Speaker 2: the earth. When Messiah came, he would inaugurate the escaton,
[6:40] Speaker 2: and yet the consummation of all things would be far grander.
[6:46] Speaker 2: Paradise would once again rain upon the planet. True Israel
[6:50] Speaker 2: would be gathered from the far reaches of the earth.
[6:54] Speaker 2: As the Old Testament prophet Jonah was three days and
[6:58] Speaker 2: three nights in the belly of the fish, the Son
[7:01] Speaker 2: of Man would be three days and three nights in
[7:05] Speaker 2: the heart of the earth. In saying that, Jesus pointed
[7:11] Speaker 2: past the miracles to the ultimate sign, and wonder, for
[7:16] Speaker 2: though he died, yet would he live. Likewise, the whole
[7:21] Speaker 2: of True Israel would be joined with him in resurrection.
[7:26] Speaker 2: As Isaiah had prophesied, Messiah would be an extraordinary miracle worker.
[7:33] Speaker 2: Matthew testified it to the fulfillment. Jesus went through all
[7:38] Speaker 2: the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the
[7:42] Speaker 2: good news of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness.
[7:48] Speaker 2: The physically blind to receive their sight as did the spiritually.
[7:54] Speaker 2: They looked beyond time and saw the New Jerusalem coming
[7:58] Speaker 2: down out of heaven from God. They were blind physically,
[8:05] Speaker 2: they were healed physically and spiritually it has such those
[8:12] Speaker 2: who believed began to live with eternity and mind, which
[8:16] Speaker 2: is precisely our calling as Christians to live not for
[8:21] Speaker 2: mean earthly vanities, but for eternal verities. Let's go right
[8:27] Speaker 2: to the phone lines. First up, let's talk to Michael
[8:31] Speaker 2: listening in Rochester, Indiana.
[8:34] Speaker 3: Hi Michael, Hi, HENK, How are you doing tonight?
[8:36] Speaker 2: I'm doing well, Thank you.
[8:38] Speaker 3: The question that I have for you is, we go
[8:41] Speaker 3: to a church and here in our local community, and
[8:44] Speaker 3: we really get along well with the people that go there,
[8:47] Speaker 3: and we love the pastor. But there's some things that
[8:51] Speaker 3: have been happening, and what I would like to know is,
[8:55] Speaker 3: at what point do you know if leaving the church
[9:00] Speaker 3: to go to a new one is kind of against
[9:04] Speaker 3: God's will? Like I've heard that God would like you
[9:07] Speaker 3: to remain in a church until you're released. You know
[9:10] Speaker 3: what is your input on that?
[9:12] Speaker 4: Well?
[9:12] Speaker 2: I think you have to know what you're aiming at.
[9:15] Speaker 2: You want a healthy, well balanced church, and so you
[9:18] Speaker 2: want to be in a church where you worship God
[9:22] Speaker 2: through prayer, praise, and the proclamation of the Word. You
[9:25] Speaker 2: want to be in a church where you can experience
[9:29] Speaker 2: genuine oneness with other believers and use your time, talent,
[9:33] Speaker 2: and treasure for the edification of the body. You want
[9:37] Speaker 2: to be in a church where you're being equipped to
[9:39] Speaker 2: communicate what you believe, why you believe in who you believe.
[9:42] Speaker 2: So if you're aimed at a healthy, well balanced church,
[9:46] Speaker 2: you want to of course, if you're in the bullseye,
[9:48] Speaker 2: stay there. But if what you're aiming at is not
[9:52] Speaker 2: a healthy, well balanced church, you want to leave. You
[9:55] Speaker 2: want to be in a healthy, well balanced church. Now,
[9:57] Speaker 2: there are times in which you can stay in a
[9:59] Speaker 2: diseased church because you have an opportunity to change it
[10:02] Speaker 2: from within. And so there are people who stay within
[10:06] Speaker 2: liberal denominations because they feel this is an opportunity to
[10:10] Speaker 2: reach from within, to change, to have an impact. So
[10:14] Speaker 2: if God's calling you to do that, then you want
[10:17] Speaker 2: to stay. But if you're not in a healthy, well
[10:19] Speaker 2: balanced church, in general, you want to be in a
[10:23] Speaker 2: place that is designed as the agent through which God
[10:28] Speaker 2: is worshiped, through which you experience oneness, and through which
[10:32] Speaker 2: you are equipped to impact the world.
[10:35] Speaker 3: Okay, well, great, thank you very much, And I have
[10:37] Speaker 3: one other quick question for you. What is your feeling
[10:40] Speaker 3: on the new Living translation Bible.
[10:43] Speaker 2: Well, I don't think it's a translation as much as
[10:45] Speaker 2: it's a paraphrase. And I think paraphrases are fine for
[10:49] Speaker 2: what they actually are. They go beyond the range of
[10:54] Speaker 2: meanings that are allowed from a language to the receptor language.
[10:59] Speaker 2: They're raises, and they're great for study, they're great for insight,
[11:03] Speaker 2: but you have to recognize them for what they are.
[11:07] Speaker 3: Okay, well, great, Hank, thank.
[11:08] Speaker 5: You very much.

[12:08] Speaker 1: of defending themselves from militant secularists at home to militant
[12:13] Speaker 1: Islamists abroad. The assaults on Biblical Christianity are growing dangerously,

[14:26] Speaker 1: our world. In Has God Spoken? Memorable proofs of the
[14:30] Speaker 1: Bible's divine inspiration, Hank counters the contentions of the Bible
[14:34] Speaker 1: attackers and clearly shows that belief in the Holy Scriptures
[14:38] Speaker 1: is not a guess or wishful thinking. It is the

[15:10] Speaker 2: Thank you very much, Randy, and let's return to our callers.
[15:13] Speaker 2: Next up is Chuck listening in Cleveland, Mississippi.
[15:16] Speaker 5: Hi, Chuck, Hello, thank you for taking my call. My
[15:21] Speaker 5: question is the White Horse and revelations in the verse
[15:24] Speaker 5: that says he that denies that Jesus Christ came in
[15:28] Speaker 5: the flesh as the spirit of Antichrist, and somehow I
[15:32] Speaker 5: know that they're connected and not necessarily applied. Like you
[15:38] Speaker 5: see in movie, there's one guy who sets himself up
[15:41] Speaker 5: as an Antichrist. So I guess my main question is
[15:46] Speaker 5: that the Antichrist is not necessarily some guy that is
[15:50] Speaker 5: set up and he's called Antichrist.
[15:53] Speaker 2: Well, I think you're right. I mean, if you look
[15:55] Speaker 2: at John's epistles, he exposes the identity of anti Christ
[16:00] Speaker 2: when he writes who is the liar? It is the
[16:03] Speaker 2: man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a
[16:06] Speaker 2: man is the Antichrist. He denies the father and the son.
[16:11] Speaker 2: No one who denies the son has the father. Whoever
[16:15] Speaker 2: acknowledges the son has the Father also, and then in
[16:19] Speaker 2: his second epistle he gives the same warning. He says,
[16:23] Speaker 2: many deceivers who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming
[16:27] Speaker 2: in the flesh have gone out into the world. Any
[16:31] Speaker 2: such person is the deceiver and anti Christ. Well, in
[16:37] Speaker 2: the Book of Revelation, what do you have John, there,
[16:40] Speaker 2: same author identifies both. Yeah, he identifies both an individual
[16:47] Speaker 2: and an institution that represents the ultimate personification of evil individual. Well,
[16:55] Speaker 2: in John, he is identifying an individual. He says that
[16:59] Speaker 2: with wisdom and understanding, you can identify the number of
[17:04] Speaker 2: this individual and the number of his name. So this
[17:09] Speaker 2: is a readily identifiable first century individual. But it is
[17:15] Speaker 2: also true that in general John is saying that Antichrist
[17:21] Speaker 2: can be both an individual and an institution. A cult
[17:24] Speaker 2: that denies that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh
[17:27] Speaker 2: can legitimately be called Antichrist. But again, the exact text
[17:33] Speaker 2: that I'm referring to in Revelation says this calls for wisdom.
[17:37] Speaker 2: If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of
[17:41] Speaker 2: the beast for its man's number. His number is six
[17:47] Speaker 2: hundred sixty and six. So he is there giving a
[17:53] Speaker 2: number that identifies an individual as the archetypal Antichrist.
[17:59] Speaker 5: All right, mixes. It just seems like has been hyped
[18:03] Speaker 5: up in Hollywood, and maybe that what we've seen is
[18:07] Speaker 5: non accurate portrayal of that ideology.
[18:12] Speaker 2: I guess you could say, yeah, absolutely, I think it
[18:14] Speaker 2: has been hyped up, unfortunately by Hollywood, but it's also
[18:18] Speaker 2: fitting hyped up in pulpits throughout the land. I want
[18:21] Speaker 2: to go back to the phone lines now. We'll talk
[18:22] Speaker 2: to Deborah next listing in Dallas, Texas.
[18:25] Speaker 4: Hi Deborah, Hi, Hank, how are you good?
[18:27] Speaker 3: How are you good?
[18:29] Speaker 2: Bless you?
[18:29] Speaker 4: Thank you so much for your program, and thank you
[18:31] Speaker 4: for taking my call. I wonder, Hank, if you would
[18:34] Speaker 4: comment on Genesis chapter six, the story about the sons
[18:40] Speaker 4: of God and the daughters of Men. I was listening to.
[18:46] Speaker 5: Chuck Missler, and he brought.
[18:49] Speaker 4: Out some points that sounded kind of convincing, and that
[18:52] Speaker 4: the sons of God were angels because the only place
[18:56] Speaker 4: in scripture where it's referred to is over the Book
[19:00] Speaker 4: of Job, and about the angels having the ability to
[19:04] Speaker 4: make themselves look like men. And he used the example
[19:08] Speaker 4: of the men that came to Abraham just wondered if
[19:12] Speaker 4: you could comment on that.
[19:14] Speaker 2: Well, it's nonsense. First of all, when you have the
[19:17] Speaker 2: Lord and two angels appear on the plains of Mamorate
[19:20] Speaker 2: to Abraham, this is God who has creative power. He
[19:23] Speaker 2: can take on human appearance, as can angels take on
[19:29] Speaker 2: human appearance by the progative of God. God again has
[19:32] Speaker 2: creative power. Fallen angels do not have creative power, and
[19:38] Speaker 2: if they did, they not only could have, but most
[19:42] Speaker 2: surely would have masqueraded as the resurrected Christ. So we
[19:46] Speaker 2: would have no epistemic warrant whatsoever for the appearances of
[19:50] Speaker 2: Jesus Christ. And Christ's argument see a spirit does not
[19:55] Speaker 2: have flesh and bone as you see that I have
[19:57] Speaker 2: would have been proven nonsense because his disciples would have said,
[20:02] Speaker 2: come on, Jesus, get with it. Demons can masquerade in
[20:07] Speaker 2: the flesh. So that's a bad argument. Even if this
[20:12] Speaker 2: was really you, it's still a bad argument. Well, Jesus
[20:14] Speaker 2: doesn't use bad arguments, and demons cannot take on physical form.
[20:18] Speaker 2: And the whole notion that demons can have sex with
[20:22] Speaker 2: women and propagate offspring is in concert with Greek mythology,
[20:28] Speaker 2: not Christian theology. In Christian theology, each kind reproduces after
[20:35] Speaker 2: its own kind, So you don't have demons having sex
[20:39] Speaker 2: with women and bearing some muddy mixture between a demon
[20:44] Speaker 2: in a woman or a demon in a human. This
[20:47] Speaker 2: is sheer nonsense, and I have a hard time believing
[20:51] Speaker 2: that Christians actually believe this or pedal this kind of
[20:54] Speaker 2: stuff through Christian channels.
[20:57] Speaker 4: Well, then they refer to this Nephelim. I think it
[21:01] Speaker 4: is these giants supposedly that were created from this ungodly union,
[21:06] Speaker 4: and that this is the explanation for the size of
[21:10] Speaker 4: the Goliath that David came up against, and the I
[21:16] Speaker 4: don't have my Bible in front of me now, but
[21:18] Speaker 4: I know there's an account of a giant who did
[21:21] Speaker 4: was so large, and he had so many fingers and toes.
[21:24] Speaker 4: So that has nothing to do with any of this.
[21:29] Speaker 2: No, it doesn't have anything to do with any of that. Certainly,
[21:33] Speaker 2: in context, the Nephelim were on the earth in those
[21:36] Speaker 2: days and also afterward when the sons of God went
[21:40] Speaker 2: to the daughters of men and had children by them.
[21:43] Speaker 2: They were heroes of old men of renown, So they
[21:46] Speaker 2: are delineated. But to say that the sons of God
[21:51] Speaker 2: have to be fallen angels because of the use in
[21:55] Speaker 2: job forgets a basic principle of Biblical interpretation. When words
[22:00] Speaker 2: are not unifical, they are equivocal. They take on the
[22:04] Speaker 2: meaning that the context allows them to have. And in
[22:07] Speaker 2: the context, what is the flood? It is judgment against humankind.
[22:13] Speaker 2: It is not a judgment against hybrids. If in fact
[22:18] Speaker 2: you have Chuck Missler being correct in this case, you
[22:22] Speaker 2: know you better watch out because you could get pregnant
[22:24] Speaker 2: by a demon too, Because if they could have done it,
[22:26] Speaker 2: then why couldn't they do it? Now you can come
[22:29] Speaker 2: home and say to your husband, I'm pregnant. It wasn't you,
[22:32] Speaker 2: It was a demon. I mean, this is nonsense. Unfortunately,
[22:36] Speaker 2: it's the kind of sensationalism that he's been peddling for
[22:39] Speaker 2: years across Christian platforms. I remember him fueling fears of
[22:45] Speaker 2: governmental conspiracies. People have a short memory. So he gets
[22:49] Speaker 2: away with it over and over again. And what does
[22:52] Speaker 2: he do well? He quotes really bad sources, sources like Spotlight,
[23:00] Speaker 2: which was a periodical produced by quasi Nazi liberty Lobby
[23:05] Speaker 2: and it is widely known as a major source of
[23:08] Speaker 2: rabidly anti Semitic propaganda in America. It's factually unreliable, it's
[23:14] Speaker 2: notorious for racist articles and advertisements. And yet, in a
[23:21] Speaker 2: nineteen ninety five article Sighting Spotlight, Missler claimed that the
[23:25] Speaker 2: Presidential Directive Number twenty five states that during times of
[23:30] Speaker 2: national emergency, complete command and control of the US military
[23:34] Speaker 2: would pass from the President of the United States to
[23:37] Speaker 2: the United Nations. Well, actually, Presidential Decision Directive Number twenty
[23:45] Speaker 2: five says nothing about placing US military personnel under complete
[23:50] Speaker 2: command and control of the UN during a national emergency.
[23:55] Speaker 2: But facts don't really matter. What really matters is the sensationalism.
[24:00] Speaker 2: Selling sensationalism, sophistry, sloppy journalism, script torture. It's all part
[24:07] Speaker 2: and parcel of the selling package. And unfortunately, this is
[24:12] Speaker 2: why today Christians need discernment skills. If you don't have them,
[24:16] Speaker 2: you are going to cut caught in the trap of
[24:19] Speaker 2: sensationalistic communications by people like Chuck Missler.
[24:23] Speaker 4: Yes, okay, well that's that pretty much helps me out
[24:27] Speaker 4: quite a bit.
[24:28] Speaker 5: You know.
[24:28] Speaker 4: He even brought the part about the when the Israelites
[24:33] Speaker 4: went in to spy out the land and how they
[24:36] Speaker 4: said that the inhabitants of that land were so large
[24:39] Speaker 4: that they looked like grasshopper and talking about the size
[24:41] Speaker 4: of the fruit and everything else. So basically, it's all sensationalism.
[24:46] Speaker 4: There were large people that dwelled in the land.
[24:49] Speaker 3: I guess that's right.
[24:50] Speaker 2: There were neffelim in the land. They were identified in
[24:53] Speaker 2: that way, but not as a result of demons having
[24:56] Speaker 2: sex with women.
[24:57] Speaker 4: Ah okay, well good, that explained that for me. Thank
[25:00] Speaker 4: you so much.
[25:01] Speaker 2: Hey, you got to thank you so much for your call.
[25:04] Speaker 2: And I apologize for my exasperation. From time to time.
[25:09] Speaker 2: It simply gets to me religion is no excuse for
[25:14] Speaker 2: being careless with the truth. I must confess. I share
[25:19] Speaker 2: in full the general public's disgust with media preachers who
[25:25] Speaker 2: have long since tired of preaching the unadulterated Christian Gospel
[25:32] Speaker 2: and in its place has substituted a national inquired gospel
[25:36] Speaker 2: of cheap sensationalism. And even a random sampling of secular
[25:42] Speaker 2: talk shows in America confirms the fact that millions today
[25:46] Speaker 2: right off Christianity is little more than a hoax. Their
[25:49] Speaker 2: assumption is that Christians who willingly embrace this kind of
[25:54] Speaker 2: sensationalism are just as prone to embrace mythology that is
[25:58] Speaker 2: two thousand years old. High time for Christians to learn
[26:02] Speaker 2: and embrace with vigor and passion discernment skills. That's what
[26:07] Speaker 2: we do right here at the Christian Research Institute and
