[0:07] Speaker 1: You're just in time for the Bible answer Man broadcast
[0:10] Speaker 1: with Hank Anagraph, the radio outreach of the Christian Research Institute.
[0:15] Speaker 1: Our purpose here at CRII is to equip Christians to
[0:19] Speaker 1: pursue sound doctrine, to discern truth and error, and to
[0:23] Speaker 1: become faithful disciples of Christ because life and truth matter.
[0:28] Speaker 1: For more information, to order resources or donate, call eight
[0:32] Speaker 1: eight eight seven thousand CROI or go online to equip
[0:37] Speaker 1: dot org. The following program was pre recorded. Now here's
[0:42] Speaker 1: the President of the Christian Research Institute, Hank Canagraph Flavorit.
[0:47] Speaker 2: Majorindy was correct to the phone lines. First up as
[0:49] Speaker 2: Jason's listening in Illinois. Hi Jason, Hi, thank how are
[0:54] Speaker 2: you doing good?
[0:55] Speaker 3: Oh?
[0:56] Speaker 4: I got a question Malchi three ten and four, verse
[1:01] Speaker 4: seven on the testing part. In a way for nonbeliever,
[1:04] Speaker 4: it sounds like a contradiction. Can he help me explain
[1:07] Speaker 4: that where it might not?
[1:10] Speaker 2: Yeah. In Malachi, you have God speaking as it were,
[1:13] Speaker 2: in a heavenly condescension in language that we can relate to.
[1:19] Speaker 2: And he's saying, in that sense, people of God, you
[1:25] Speaker 2: can do what you already know you are supposed to do,
[1:32] Speaker 2: and when you do, you will recognize that I will
[1:36] Speaker 2: bless you in concert with the principles that I have
[1:41] Speaker 2: already promised based on my nature and character. An entirely
[1:47] Speaker 2: different thing is going on in Matthew chapter four. This
[1:51] Speaker 2: is in essence, not testing God. But this is a
[1:56] Speaker 2: word from God to Satan, do not tempt the Lord.
[2:00] Speaker 2: Because remember, in this context, Satan is tempting Jesus, and
[2:05] Speaker 2: Jesus is not only the one who took on human flesh,
[2:10] Speaker 2: but the one who spoke and the universe leapt into existence.
[2:13] Speaker 2: He's the creator of all things. So Jesus is saying,
[2:17] Speaker 2: do not tempt the Lord by doing things you already
[2:22] Speaker 2: know you're not supposed to do. In other words, deliberately
[2:26] Speaker 2: putting yourself in danger for the sole purpose of testing
[2:31] Speaker 2: God's love and provision. So you got completely different contexts.
[2:35] Speaker 2: One you're not supposed to tempt the Lord, and the
[2:41] Speaker 2: other is you can test God and recognize that leaning
[2:47] Speaker 2: on the arm of God is far more secure than
[2:51] Speaker 2: leaning on the arm of flesh.
[2:54] Speaker 4: Awesome answer. Thank you, appreciating God, bless your ministry.
[2:58] Speaker 2: Thank you so much, appreciate your call Jason, And of
[3:01] Speaker 2: course this ultimate spiritual battle that Jason was alluding to
[3:06] Speaker 2: which we find in Matthew chapter four. You see that
[3:12] Speaker 2: the creature was alone and hungry. But this creature was
[3:18] Speaker 2: not a human creature. This was theanthropists. The god Man,
[3:23] Speaker 2: the Creator, and the most powerful creature in the universe,
[3:30] Speaker 2: was poised and ready to strike. The Creator had fasted
[3:36] Speaker 2: forty days and forty nights. Sensing vulnerability, that tempter seized
[3:42] Speaker 2: the moment. If you are the son of God, tell
[3:48] Speaker 2: these stones to become bred, he hissed, and Jesus might
[3:52] Speaker 2: will have responded by unveiling his divine glory, but he didn't.
[3:58] Speaker 2: He took up the sod the spirit, which is the
[4:01] Speaker 2: word of God, and then Satan transported Jesus to the
[4:07] Speaker 2: pinnacle of the temple. If you are the son of God,
[4:11] Speaker 2: he said, throw yourself down, for it is written he
[4:14] Speaker 2: will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift
[4:18] Speaker 2: you up in their hands, so that you will not
[4:21] Speaker 2: strike your foot against a stone. Jesus could have routed
[4:26] Speaker 2: Satan with twelve legions of angels, but he didn't. He
[4:33] Speaker 2: took up the sword of the Spirit. He's starting to
[4:37] Speaker 2: hear a familiar refrain one more time. In desperation, the
[4:45] Speaker 2: devil took the Lord to the summit of a very
[4:49] Speaker 2: high mountain and showed him the kingdoms of the world.
[4:52] Speaker 2: He showed him the splendor of those kingdoms. But I said,
[4:58] Speaker 2: all this I will give you if you bow down
[5:02] Speaker 2: and worship me. The Lord of the universe could have
[5:06] Speaker 2: blinded the devil with the brilliance of his intellect. What
[5:10] Speaker 2: he didn't. He took up the sword of the Spirit.
[5:18] Speaker 2: And as Jesus armed himself with the sword of the Spirit,
[5:21] Speaker 2: which is the word of God, so must we armed
[5:26] Speaker 2: with the puny sword of reason. We're impotent before an
[5:32] Speaker 2: arch fiend who has studied us thoroughly and is intimately
[5:37] Speaker 2: acquainted with all our vulnerabilities. Armed with the sword of
[5:42] Speaker 2: the Spirit, we're a terror to Satan, and we can
[5:46] Speaker 2: stand strong in the face of his fiercest temptations. All
[5:52] Speaker 2: of that to say, get into the Word of God,
[5:55] Speaker 2: because the Word of God is the sword of the Spirit.
[6:00] Speaker 2: And if we don't take up the sword of the
[6:01] Speaker 2: spiritist believers, if we don't get into the Word of
[6:04] Speaker 2: God and get the Word of God into us, we
[6:08] Speaker 2: are going to be impotent in spiritual warfare. Back to
[6:15] Speaker 2: our phone callers. Next up is Jody listening in Oklahoma.
[6:19] Speaker 5: Hi, Jodi, Hi, Hey, My question was about Francis Collins.
[6:24] Speaker 5: In his book The Language of God. He speaks about
[6:28] Speaker 5: evolution as it was true, as it was kind of
[6:30] Speaker 5: means for man's existence.
[6:34] Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, I disagree with him, and we did a
[6:36] Speaker 2: review of his book in the Christian Research Journal. I
[6:41] Speaker 2: think it's sad, quite frankly, that under the banner of
[6:43] Speaker 2: theistic evolution, a growing number of Christians are maintaining that
[6:47] Speaker 2: God used evolution as his method for creation. And I
[6:52] Speaker 2: think that's the worst of all possibilities. It's one thing
[6:55] Speaker 2: to believe in evolution, it's quite another to blame God
[6:58] Speaker 2: for it. Evolution is a contradiction in terms. It's like
[7:03] Speaker 2: the phrase flaming snowflakes. And if you look at evolutionists,
[7:08] Speaker 2: they themselves recognize that this is an oxymorin. I think
[7:14] Speaker 2: of Jacques Manaut, who said natural selection is the blindest
[7:19] Speaker 2: and most cruel way of evolving a new species, the
[7:23] Speaker 2: struggle for life, the elimination of the weakest, is a
[7:27] Speaker 2: horrible process against which our whole modern ethic revolts, and
[7:33] Speaker 2: then he went on to say that he was surprised
[7:35] Speaker 2: that any Christian would defend the idea that this is
[7:40] Speaker 2: the process which God more or less set up in
[7:42] Speaker 2: order to have evolution. And I think, on top of that,
[7:46] Speaker 2: the Biblical account of creation specifically states that God created
[7:53] Speaker 2: living creatures according to their own kinds, and that's been
[7:58] Speaker 2: confirmed by science. So the DNA for a fetus is
[8:02] Speaker 2: not the DNA for a frog, and the DNA for
[8:05] Speaker 2: a frog is not the DNA for a fish. The
[8:08] Speaker 2: DNA for a fetus or a frog or a fish
[8:11] Speaker 2: is uniquely programmed for reproduction after its own kind. So
[8:16] Speaker 2: while the Bible allows for micro evolution transitions within the kinds,
[8:22] Speaker 2: it does not allow for macro evolution. In other words,
[8:26] Speaker 2: it doesn't allow for an amba evolving into an ape
[8:29] Speaker 2: or an ape well, I guess evolving into an astronaut.
[8:34] Speaker 5: Okay, yeah, that makes a lot of sense. I mean,
[8:36] Speaker 5: I too was surprised. I was kind of on the
[8:38] Speaker 5: impression that the book Language of God would be more
[8:41] Speaker 5: or less affirming using the human genome project more or
[8:47] Speaker 5: less the complexity of life, kind of taking the belief
[8:51] Speaker 5: out of coincidence, and it kind of just turned it
[8:55] Speaker 5: back into it is what it sounded like. So I'm
[8:58] Speaker 5: just surprised as well.
[8:59] Speaker 2: Yeah right, and we do have. As I said a
[9:02] Speaker 2: review in the Christian Research Journal, if you'd like to,
[9:05] Speaker 2: you know, hang on, we can send it out to here.
[9:07] Speaker 2: You find it on our website at equipped dot org.
[9:10] Speaker 2: But I think the safest way just hang on and
[9:12] Speaker 2: we can make sure you had a copy of it.
[9:15] Speaker 5: Okay, you got it.
[9:18] Speaker 2: Then I might add that evolutionary biology cannot account from
[9:23] Speaker 2: metaphysical realities, that it can't account for ego and ethos,
[9:27] Speaker 2: and without data demonstrating that physical processes can produce metaphysical realities,
[9:33] Speaker 2: there's no warrant for dogmatically declaring that humans evolve from hominids.
[9:40] Speaker 2: An omnipotent, omniscient God simply doesn't have to painfully plod
[9:45] Speaker 2: through millions of mistakes and mutations in order to have
[9:50] Speaker 2: fellowship with human beings. The Biblical account of creation confirms
[9:56] Speaker 2: he can create humans instantaneously. And this is a time
[10:01] Speaker 2: in which evolutionism is fighting for its very life, why
[10:07] Speaker 2: because of the advance of science. So rather than prop
[10:11] Speaker 2: it up with theories like theistic evolution, thinking people everywhere
[10:15] Speaker 2: should be on the vanguard of demonstrating its demise now
[10:20] Speaker 2: and saying all of this. I'm not suggesting that we
[10:24] Speaker 2: can't have differences of opinion here. There are Old creationists,
[10:29] Speaker 2: there are Young Earth creationists. That's a very dynamic debate
[10:34] Speaker 2: going on within the Christian Church. I think both of
[10:37] Speaker 2: them are missing the point, but that's a story for
[10:39] Speaker 2: another broadcast. The issue is that there are certain things
[10:46] Speaker 2: that we know from both the Book of Knowledge and
[10:51] Speaker 2: the Book of Nature, or from the Bible and science,
[10:57] Speaker 2: and they fly together in the face of this oxymoron
[11:03] Speaker 2: called theistic evolution. And as I say, that's why I
[11:07] Speaker 2: think it is the worst of all possibilities. Be right
[11:12] Speaker 2: back with more of your questions.

[12:07] Speaker 1: and decency, but even more fundamentally on historic notions of truth.
[12:12] Speaker 1: And the enemy isn't just the onslaught of fake news,
[12:15] Speaker 1: facilitated by a post truth culture and turbocharged by growing
[12:19] Speaker 1: legions of ideological spinductors. Note the real enemies of truth
[12:23] Speaker 1: range from postmodernist convictions that there is no objective truth
[12:28] Speaker 1: to militant scientism that claims that only science can determine
[12:32] Speaker 1: truth and religion is little more than primitive superstitions. But

[14:01] Speaker 6: Hank Hannagraph has dedicated his life to defending truth because
[14:05] Speaker 6: truth matters. However, his life and ministry were radically transformed
[14:09] Speaker 6: by another three word phrase, Life matters more. Truth matters
[14:13] Speaker 6: because Christianity is rooted in history and evidence. Life matters
[14:17] Speaker 6: more because it.
[14:18] Speaker 7: Is the experience of union with God. The goal of
[14:21] Speaker 7: Christian life is union with God. All attempts to understand
[14:25] Speaker 7: Christianity from a solely rational perspective put us in danger
[14:29] Speaker 7: of devolving into a transactional rather than transformational relationship with God.
[14:34] Speaker 7: Truth Matters, Life Matters More will equip you to move
[14:37] Speaker 7: beyond intellectually knowing about God to experientially knowing Him in Christ.

[16:23] Speaker 2: us to make a difference. While there's yet time. Let's
[16:25] Speaker 2: go back to the phone lines now. I talk to
[16:27] Speaker 2: Carmen in South Dakota. Hi, Carman, Hi, Heyink, How are
[16:31] Speaker 2: you good? Her? Are you?
[16:33] Speaker 8: I'm doing just fine.
[16:35] Speaker 4: Uh.
[16:37] Speaker 8: I'm just wondering. When Jesus was being crucified, he cried out, Father,
[16:42] Speaker 8: why have you forsaken me? And I guess I am
[16:47] Speaker 8: not sure why he would say that when he knew
[16:50] Speaker 8: what was happening, he knew why he had to die,
[16:54] Speaker 8: And I guess that's I'm just confused on that.
[16:58] Speaker 2: Yeah, well, you can easily imagine that Christ, who voluntarily
[17:02] Speaker 2: takes on the limitations of humanity, would have had within
[17:06] Speaker 2: his active consciousness a real feeling of being forsaken by
[17:11] Speaker 2: the Father, because he bore in his body the sins
[17:15] Speaker 2: of the world. But I think in saying all of that,
[17:19] Speaker 2: we also have to remember that this does not in
[17:21] Speaker 2: any way suggest an ontological separation, because we don't believe
[17:27] Speaker 2: in three separate gods. We believe in one God revealed
[17:31] Speaker 2: in three persons who are eternally distinct. So this is
[17:35] Speaker 2: not a separation by nature or essence. And I think
[17:39] Speaker 2: there's something else that should be reckoned in answering a
[17:43] Speaker 2: question like this. When Jesus on the cross said Eli
[17:47] Speaker 2: lama suboctany, My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?
[17:52] Speaker 2: He's drawing attention not only to the first line a
[17:55] Speaker 2: Psalm twenty two, but the entirety a Psalm twenty two.
[18:00] Speaker 2: That is the practice of the New Testament in terms
[18:05] Speaker 2: of the Apostles, but certainly in terms of Jesus Christ,
[18:09] Speaker 2: who is the cornerstone. And so he is drawing attention
[18:13] Speaker 2: to the Old Testament, and the fact that he is
[18:15] Speaker 2: the fulfillment of all of the types in shadows and
[18:20] Speaker 2: the Old Testament, and directly drawing her attention to one
[18:25] Speaker 2: of the stars in the constellation of biblical prophecies, Psalm
[18:29] Speaker 2: twenty two. And if you look at the entirety of
[18:32] Speaker 2: Psalm twenty two, you recognize that he has not despised
[18:38] Speaker 2: or disdained the suffering of the afflicted one. He has
[18:42] Speaker 2: not hidden his face from him, but he has listened
[18:46] Speaker 2: to his cry for help, so he has not forsaken.
[18:51] Speaker 2: That same passage in context makes absolutely pristine, precise, and clear.
[19:00] Speaker 8: Okay, all right, well, thank you very much. I appreciate it.
[19:03] Speaker 2: You got it. Thank you so much for your call
[19:06] Speaker 2: back to the phone lines. We'll talk to Donnie next
[19:09] Speaker 2: in California. Hi, Donnie, Hi, I think how you doing? Good?
[19:14] Speaker 7: Good?
[19:14] Speaker 4: I was calling.
[19:15] Speaker 3: I have a question about Gog and Magog.
[19:17] Speaker 4: I'm not quite sure if those are literal nations and what, if.
[19:22] Speaker 3: Anything, do they have to do with Armageddon.
[19:25] Speaker 2: Well, first of all, Dog in Ezekiel thirty eight was
[19:29] Speaker 2: the ruler of a territory called Maygog, and John is
[19:33] Speaker 2: using a real historical account, that is emblazoned on the
[19:39] Speaker 2: minds of his listeners or readers, and he is using
[19:43] Speaker 2: that as an illustration of the forces of evil coming
[19:49] Speaker 2: up against the people of God. So he's taking something
[19:54] Speaker 2: that is emblazoned on the canvas of the consciousness of
[20:00] Speaker 2: Israelites who are listening to him, and he's saying, this
[20:03] Speaker 2: is an illustration of what is going to happen in
[20:07] Speaker 2: this horrific evil that takes place not only by the beast,
[20:12] Speaker 2: but the woman who rides the beast. So the forces
[20:16] Speaker 2: of evil, both from within the Jewish ecclesiastical society and
[20:23] Speaker 2: the Roman government are going to come up against the
[20:27] Speaker 2: people of God. And this is going to be a
[20:30] Speaker 2: horrific event. But if you're faithful and fruitful, the torment
[20:35] Speaker 2: will be short, the vindication will be eternal. That's what's
[20:39] Speaker 2: going on by way of illustration.
[20:43] Speaker 3: Okay, all right, Hank, Well, thank you very much, and
[20:46] Speaker 3: I appreciate your ministry.
[20:48] Speaker 2: Thank you so much. Donnie, I appreciate your call. Let's
[20:51] Speaker 2: go right back to the phone lines. We'll talk to
[20:54] Speaker 2: Kevin next. Is listening in Kansas, Hi, Kevin?
[20:59] Speaker 3: Yes, My question is it's regarding Hebrews chapter twelve, and
[21:05] Speaker 3: it starts in verse sixteen, where Esau is referred to
[21:08] Speaker 3: as seeking repentance but not being able to find it,
[21:13] Speaker 3: and then also too over in Second Peter, chapter two,
[21:18] Speaker 3: verse twenty, where it talks about people escaping and then
[21:21] Speaker 3: being entangled again in sin. My question is, are these
[21:25] Speaker 3: references to what we would call apostates or these just
[21:32] Speaker 3: believers who have fallen into sin who's still, by the
[21:34] Speaker 3: grace of God, have the ability to repent and come
[21:38] Speaker 3: to a place of fellowship with the Lord.
[21:40] Speaker 2: Well, when you're looking at Esau specifically, he did give
[21:43] Speaker 2: up his inheritance, but in the providence of God, this
[21:47] Speaker 2: has something to do with the lineage and the purpose
[21:51] Speaker 2: by which we get the Savior through a particular line,
[21:54] Speaker 2: not through Esau but through his brother who deceived to
[21:58] Speaker 2: get the inheritance. But yet God ultimately is looking at
[22:02] Speaker 2: the heart, and what's going on here with the heart
[22:06] Speaker 2: of Esau is he lost his inheritance, but didn't lose
[22:11] Speaker 2: his ability to receive God and to have a relationship
[22:15] Speaker 2: with God that was never lost, I mean till the
[22:18] Speaker 2: moment that he died. But the writer of Hebrews, he's
[22:22] Speaker 2: holding the magnifying glass up to the Old Testament, and
[22:25] Speaker 2: looking through that magnifying glass, we recognize under inspiration that
[22:30] Speaker 2: Esaw was godless, which is to say, of his volition.
[22:36] Speaker 2: He is turning away not only an inheritance, but turning
[22:41] Speaker 2: away from a living relationship with the Lord. And so
[22:45] Speaker 2: the magnifying glass of the writer of Hebrews is squarely
[22:51] Speaker 2: fixed on what happened in the Old Testament. By reading
[22:54] Speaker 2: the Old Testament, you couldn't know this, but under inspiration
[22:57] Speaker 2: you can know this. It's not only giving up a
[23:01] Speaker 2: relationship with God, it's also giving up an inheritance. Why
[23:07] Speaker 2: because he thought the things of this world were far
[23:11] Speaker 2: more significant than eternal verities. So this is an ultimate
[23:15] Speaker 2: glimpse through the magnifying glass of the New Testament into
[23:20] Speaker 2: the heart of Esau. We could never make that statement,
[23:24] Speaker 2: I mean, we couldn't make that statement about Judas because
[23:27] Speaker 2: we look at the outward appearance. God looks at the heart.
[23:29] Speaker 2: But Jesus told us that Judas was a devil. He
[23:32] Speaker 2: looked beyond the externalities that we would look at and
[23:35] Speaker 2: saw the heart of the matter.
[23:37] Speaker 6: I see.
[23:38] Speaker 3: Okay, And what about the second Peter where it says
[23:41] Speaker 3: that the people have you know barely escaped, and that
[23:46] Speaker 3: it would be better for them to have never known
[23:48] Speaker 3: the righteous way than to reject the command to live
[23:50] Speaker 3: a holy life. What is that an image of.
[23:54] Speaker 2: Yeah, well, it's a great image and a very appropriate
[23:58] Speaker 2: New Testament image of people people who know they escape
[24:04] Speaker 2: the law, they escape on righteousness, they escape the evil
[24:10] Speaker 2: of the world through a knowledge of Jesus Christ, but
[24:13] Speaker 2: then turn away from it, which is to say, they
[24:18] Speaker 2: are turning away from something they see and know about.
[24:23] Speaker 2: And this, in my mind is very analogous to what
[24:26] Speaker 2: Satan does. In essence, he knows who Jesus Christ is.
[24:34] Speaker 2: He agrees that Jesus Christ is the savior of the world,
[24:39] Speaker 2: and yet he is opposed to Jesus Christ. So he
[24:43] Speaker 2: tasted the fruit but turned away from it, the fruit
[24:49] Speaker 2: of the Tree of life, turned away from it, and therefore,
[24:54] Speaker 2: with requisite knowledge, is forever separated from the love and
[24:57] Speaker 2: grace of God. And there are people that do that.
[25:00] Speaker 2: That's same thing, following Satan as their lord as opposed
[25:05] Speaker 2: to following the Savior as their lord.
[25:08] Speaker 3: Okay, so it's never a picture of the reason I
[25:11] Speaker 3: ask is because those hit close to home for me,
[25:13] Speaker 3: because I I had just like a fool went back
[25:16] Speaker 3: to my old sin about five years ago, and things
[25:20] Speaker 3: got worse than what they had ever been before I
[25:23] Speaker 3: was even a believer, and slowly got to begin to
[25:26] Speaker 3: draw me out of that and to where now my
[25:29] Speaker 3: whole heart's desire and will is to follow God. But
[25:32] Speaker 3: I still deal with a lot of you know, carrying
[25:35] Speaker 3: the baggage from how could you do that?
[25:36] Speaker 2: You idiot?
[25:37] Speaker 3: You know, look what you knew the truth, and you
[25:39] Speaker 3: still chose to sin. But my heart, I want to
[25:42] Speaker 3: obey God, and I feel like sometimes I'm stuck because
[25:45] Speaker 3: I can't go back and change some of the twisted
[25:48] Speaker 3: things I did. And so that's why I asked, because
[25:51] Speaker 3: they hit close to home for me.
[25:52] Speaker 2: Well, it's a good question, and you couldn't have said
[25:54] Speaker 2: it any better. So I'm going to leave it at that,
[25:56] Speaker 2: just to encourage you. If you really Glaiz, you're as sinner,
