[0:07] Speaker 1: You're just in time for the Bible answer Man broadcast
[0:10] Speaker 1: with Hank Canagraph, the radio outreach of the Christian Research Institute.
[0:15] Speaker 1: Our purpose here at CRII is to equip Christians to
[0:19] Speaker 1: provide Biblical answers to life's most important questions, to read
[0:23] Speaker 1: the Bible for all it's worth, and counter the teachings
[0:26] Speaker 1: of cults and world religions that deviate from the plumb
[0:30] Speaker 1: line of God's word, because life and truth matter. For
[0:35] Speaker 1: more information, to order resources or donate, call eight eight
[0:38] Speaker 1: eight seven thousand CROI, or go online to equip dot org.
[0:44] Speaker 1: That's equip dot org. The following program was pre recorded.
[0:50] Speaker 1: Now here's the president of the Christian Research Institute, Hank Canagraph.
[0:55] Speaker 2: Thank you very much, Brandon. Let's gorrect to the phone lines.
[0:57] Speaker 2: First up today is Marge listening on fres California.
[1:01] Speaker 3: Hi, Marche, hi, and thanks for taking my call pleasure.
[1:04] Speaker 3: Did I hear you correctly some time ago say something
[1:07] Speaker 3: to the effect that we can talk to God, but
[1:11] Speaker 3: we cannot have a conversation with him. In other words,
[1:15] Speaker 3: he doesn't you know, in talking with him, he doesn't
[1:19] Speaker 3: answer back or whatever.
[1:21] Speaker 2: Well, no, I don't think I've ever said that unless
[1:23] Speaker 2: I had a slip of the tongue, we certainly can
[1:26] Speaker 2: have a dialogue with God. God speaks to us through
[1:30] Speaker 2: the majesty of his word. He speaks to us through
[1:34] Speaker 2: that still small voice. So God yet speaks to us.
[1:39] Speaker 2: He speaks to us through people have And the reason.
[1:43] Speaker 3: Why I was so concerned about what I thought I
[1:46] Speaker 3: heard you say was because our father and I communicate
[1:50] Speaker 3: all the time. And then of course there's Bill Hybel
[1:54] Speaker 3: who wrote the book The Powerful Whispers you probably know,
[1:57] Speaker 3: and it's just confirmed. He's also confirming the fact that
[2:01] Speaker 3: people can communicate with him.
[2:04] Speaker 2: Yeah, do remember that God has ultimately communicated to us
[2:08] Speaker 2: through his word, and that the Bible is the infallible
[2:11] Speaker 2: repository of redemptive revelation, and we ought to test all
[2:16] Speaker 2: things in light of scripture, hold fast to that which
[2:20] Speaker 2: is good. And the only reason I add that to
[2:21] Speaker 2: the conversation is that feelings and experiences can be notoriously unreliable,
[2:28] Speaker 2: and therefore there has to be a test for those
[2:31] Speaker 2: feelings or for those experiences. Want to go back to
[2:35] Speaker 2: the phone lines, doctor Donn. He's listening in Sioux City, Iowa.
[2:40] Speaker 4: Hi, don Yeah, Hello, how are you good.
[2:42] Speaker 2: How are you?
[2:43] Speaker 4: I'm bressed. Got a quick question for you, Hank. Can
[2:47] Speaker 4: you tell me anything about the Joseph Prince ministry. He's
[2:51] Speaker 4: out of Singapore and he's teaching on radical grace.
[2:55] Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, I certainly believe in radical grace. I don't
[2:58] Speaker 2: believe in Joseph Prince. I've listened to his ministry over
[3:01] Speaker 2: the years and he's a classic word of prosperity preacher,
[3:06] Speaker 2: and I think he is one of the primary exemplars
[3:10] Speaker 2: for a theology that I think really traps people in
[3:15] Speaker 2: its web of deceit. I've written about this in a
[3:18] Speaker 2: book called Christianity and Crisis twenty first century. This is
[3:22] Speaker 2: a prostitution of the Biblical concept of faith. In their view,
[3:26] Speaker 2: faith is a force words of the containers of the force.
[3:29] Speaker 2: Through the force of faith, you can create your own reality.
[3:32] Speaker 2: And thus, if you have enough faith, you can have
[3:34] Speaker 2: health and you can have wealth. In reality, we live
[3:37] Speaker 2: in a curse creation. The death rate is one per person.
[3:40] Speaker 2: We're all going to make it. And therefore we must
[3:44] Speaker 2: have a biblical understanding of what true faith is, and
[3:50] Speaker 2: in that sense, it is a channel of living trust
[3:53] Speaker 2: between a human being and their God faith being only
[3:57] Speaker 2: as good as the object in whom it his place.
[4:00] Speaker 2: So if your faith is in your own faith, it's credulity.
[4:03] Speaker 2: If your faith is in God, it's well placed faith.
[4:07] Speaker 2: Back to the phone lines, we'll talk next to David,
[4:11] Speaker 2: which you talk Kansas. Hi, David, Hello, I appreciate.
[4:14] Speaker 5: You taking my call. I heard a comment that you
[4:17] Speaker 5: made recently concerning, you know, as far as an argument
[4:22] Speaker 5: against a young Earth was the supernova I believe because
[4:27] Speaker 5: it would take you know, billions of years for us
[4:29] Speaker 5: to see that happen.
[4:31] Speaker 2: And so what I actually said about that is it
[4:35] Speaker 2: would be like a movie about an event that never
[4:40] Speaker 2: actually took place, right right.
[4:43] Speaker 5: I understand that there's a book by Russell Humphries, and
[4:48] Speaker 5: I don't know if you have you ever heard of
[4:50] Speaker 5: that book. Yes, he writes concerning how that time whenever
[4:59] Speaker 5: you the farther you can away from the Earth, time
[5:02] Speaker 5: is faster. And I think one thing you mentioned is
[5:06] Speaker 5: there's an atomic clock in Denver, and the whenever the
[5:14] Speaker 5: there's a clock, which would be faster the higher the altitude.
[5:20] Speaker 5: I believe there's a clock at the top, you know,
[5:23] Speaker 5: as far as we're Denver is And then then that
[5:25] Speaker 5: there would be another one, you know, sea level or
[5:29] Speaker 5: however that works. But the clock had in Denver is
[5:33] Speaker 5: is faster, like maybe one second faster. And the theory
[5:38] Speaker 5: that doctor Humphreys resents is that the farther away that
[5:43] Speaker 5: the planets are, that you know, like instead of it
[5:46] Speaker 5: being a twenty four hour day, you know, that time
[5:48] Speaker 5: frame would go would be cut down. And also I
[5:52] Speaker 5: checked on this with some and they said that during
[5:56] Speaker 5: the week of creation or during you know, the first
[6:01] Speaker 5: you know, hundreds of years of creation, then it was
[6:04] Speaker 5: possible that the universe was going faster and then now
[6:09] Speaker 5: would result in you know, so that I was just
[6:11] Speaker 5: going to ask you what you thought about that.
[6:13] Speaker 2: Yeah, I think we have to be very humble about
[6:15] Speaker 2: these things. But first of all, I would say this
[6:17] Speaker 2: that the moment you start arguing against constancy and nature,
[6:21] Speaker 2: you lose a very significant weapon in historical apologetics. If
[6:26] Speaker 2: you say things were different in the past than they
[6:29] Speaker 2: are on the present, which is the second argument you made,
[6:32] Speaker 2: not the first. But if you say that, then you
[6:36] Speaker 2: lose epistemic warrant for events such as the resurrection because
[6:39] Speaker 2: maybe in times past people spontaneously came back to life.
[6:44] Speaker 2: It's a very dangerous two edged sword, so I'd be
[6:47] Speaker 2: careful with that argument. But as far as the first
[6:50] Speaker 2: argument that you were talking about with respect to the supernova,
[6:55] Speaker 2: I was talking on a previous broadcast about supernova nineteen
[6:59] Speaker 2: eighty seven A and then has a identifiable before and after.
[7:04] Speaker 2: So prior to the nineteen eighty seven time frame, the
[7:08] Speaker 2: supernova was an ordinary star in a distant galaxy, was
[7:13] Speaker 2: one hundred and sixty eight thousand light years away, and
[7:17] Speaker 2: then on February twenty third, nineteen eighty seven, the star
[7:20] Speaker 2: explodes and it becomes a supernova. In other words, one
[7:25] Speaker 2: hundred and sixty eight thousand years ago, the star explodes,
[7:29] Speaker 2: and in nineteen eighty seven, the light of that event
[7:33] Speaker 2: finally reached the Earth. Unless you say that God created
[7:38] Speaker 2: the universe six thousand years ago, then the supernova would
[7:42] Speaker 2: be as I said in a previous broadcast, it'd be
[7:45] Speaker 2: like a documentary film of an event that never actually happened.
[7:49] Speaker 2: So I think we need to think about those kinds
[7:51] Speaker 2: of things. And this is not the only thing. I mean.
[7:54] Speaker 2: If we look at star life, star life is not
[7:58] Speaker 2: something that requires a tremendous amount of conjecture because we
[8:02] Speaker 2: can see stars in all phases. We can see a
[8:06] Speaker 2: star that's born, we can see a star in midlife,
[8:10] Speaker 2: we can see a white dwarf star. We can understand
[8:15] Speaker 2: through measurement exactly how long it would take a star
[8:20] Speaker 2: to become a white dwarf star. In other words, how
[8:23] Speaker 2: long does it take for the fuel or the energy
[8:27] Speaker 2: to exhaust itself. So there's measurement that we could use.
[8:31] Speaker 2: That measurement certainly seems to point to a universe that's
[8:36] Speaker 2: far older than six thousand years now. I don't have
[8:39] Speaker 2: an ox in the battle. The issue is not for
[8:42] Speaker 2: me trying to prove that there's an old universe. The
[8:45] Speaker 2: issue is trying to be consistent with God's revelation of himself,
[8:51] Speaker 2: both in the Bible and in the Book of Nature.
[8:55] Speaker 2: God's impromoter, his fingerprints are on this universe, is invisible qualities,
[9:00] Speaker 2: is eternal power, divine nature clearly seen, being understood through
[9:04] Speaker 2: what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
[9:07] Speaker 2: So I want to correctly read the Book of Nature
[9:11] Speaker 2: as God enables me to do so, and therefore I
[9:14] Speaker 2: would never try to teach a child geocentrism today, although
[9:19] Speaker 2: in centuries past people did. Today there are very few Christians,
[9:24] Speaker 2: although there are some notable Christians that still teach geocentrism
[9:27] Speaker 2: because they believe that's what the Bible teaches. But I
[9:30] Speaker 2: think the real issue here is it's their flawed interpretation
[9:34] Speaker 2: of the Bible that's an issue. They don't know how
[9:37] Speaker 2: to read the Bible for all it's worth. And so
[9:40] Speaker 2: if they see a text that seems to suggest that
[9:43] Speaker 2: the Earth is the center of the universe and it's
[9:46] Speaker 2: fixed in its place, and the Sun travels around the Earth,
[9:49] Speaker 2: they say the Bible teaches geocentrism. The Bible says it,
[9:52] Speaker 2: I believe it. That settles it. But we know that
[9:56] Speaker 2: that is not true. We live in a privileged planet
[9:59] Speaker 2: that is designed for exploration. We're placed, by God's providence
[10:05] Speaker 2: in exactly the right place that we can look out
[10:08] Speaker 2: into the distant universe. We can observe things about ourselves
[10:12] Speaker 2: that's not by accident. Now to simply now reject what
[10:16] Speaker 2: we observe because we have a flawed interpretation of scripture,
[10:19] Speaker 2: I think is a dangerous thing. So I am simply
[10:23] Speaker 2: asking people to be credible in there reading a scripture
[10:27] Speaker 2: which is the infallible repository for redemptive revelation. It is
[10:31] Speaker 2: the standard. You need to know how to read the
[10:34] Speaker 2: Bible for all it's worth, and you need to be
[10:37] Speaker 2: one who is credible in terms of explaining God's revelation
[10:42] Speaker 2: of himself in nature, which he has clearly done, and
[10:46] Speaker 2: we should not misunderstand that revelation. We'll be right back
[10:49] Speaker 2: with Laura.
[10:50] Speaker 1: If you were going into combat, what would be more
[10:53] Speaker 1: important the number of those who were for you or
[10:56] Speaker 1: the number of those who were with you. Now apply
[10:59] Speaker 1: that question to today's battle for the hearts and minds of
[11:02] Speaker 1: literally millions of people at home and abroad. That's what
[11:06] Speaker 1: makes members of CRI's support teams so vital. They're not

[13:01] Speaker 6: Truth Matters, Life Matters More by Hank Hanagraph is essentially
[13:05] Speaker 6: two books in one, because Truth Matters Part one equips
[13:09] Speaker 6: Christians to defend the essential truths of the historic Christian faith.
[13:13] Speaker 6: In Part two, Hank explains why life matters more and
[13:17] Speaker 6: how we can experience the height of human existence union
[13:21] Speaker 6: with God in Christ. Simply put, the map is not
[13:24] Speaker 6: the territory. The menu is not the meal. We cheat
[13:28] Speaker 6: ourselves of authentic union with Christ when we elevate the
[13:31] Speaker 6: message above the Messiah. Truth matters, Life matters more is
[13:36] Speaker 6: a modern classic and the magnum opus of one of
[13:38] Speaker 6: the great theological minds of our time. To receive truth matters,
[13:43] Speaker 6: Life matters more, simply call eight eight eight seven thousand
[13:46] Speaker 6: CRI and make a gift in support of the life
[13:49] Speaker 6: changing work of the Christian Research Institute. That's eight eight
[13:53] Speaker 6: eight seven thousand CRI, or go online to equip dot org.
[14:00] Speaker 1: Anyone who's been paying attention knows there's a war going on,
[14:04] Speaker 1: not just on traditional morality, civility and decency, but even
[14:08] Speaker 1: more fundamentally on historic notions of truth. And the enemy
[14:12] Speaker 1: isn't just the onslaught of fake news, facilitated by a
[14:16] Speaker 1: post truth culture and turbocharged by growing legions of ideological spinductors.
[14:21] Speaker 1: Note the real enemies of truth range from postmodernist convictions
[14:25] Speaker 1: that there is no objective truth to militant scientism that
[14:29] Speaker 1: claims that only science can determine truth and religion is
[14:33] Speaker 1: little more than primitive superstitions. But CRI Support Team members
[14:37] Speaker 1: are not waving a white flag of surrender. They're holding
[14:40] Speaker 1: the fort by undergirding everyone of Christian Research Institute's mind
[14:45] Speaker 1: shaping and life changing outreaches twenty four to seven. To

[15:09] Speaker 2: Thank you very much, Randy, and we'll go back to
[15:11] Speaker 2: the phone lines. Talk to Tina. Listen and say Louis Missouri, Hi, Tina, Hi, thanks.
[15:17] Speaker 7: For taking my call. I was calling because I'm a
[15:21] Speaker 7: Christian and my husband he's ever since I've known him,
[15:23] Speaker 7: he's always believed in God, but he's not saved. And
[15:27] Speaker 7: as many times as I've tried to get him to
[15:30] Speaker 7: understand God's word and God's will, he still has.
[15:35] Speaker 5: I guess you was a for lack of a.
[15:36] Speaker 7: Better term, sometimes it's still an evil attitude towards people,
[15:41] Speaker 7: where if somebody does within in him. He always has
[15:43] Speaker 7: to wants to get revenge or something like that. So
[15:46] Speaker 7: I always try to explain that that's not the way
[15:48] Speaker 7: the things go. Sometimes you have to turns of the cheek,
[15:50] Speaker 7: and but sometimes he just doesn't want to hear that,
[15:54] Speaker 7: and he even gets angry at me for not being
[15:57] Speaker 7: the way he is. So I just wanted to know,
[16:01] Speaker 7: is there any advice that you would give me for him?
[16:03] Speaker 2: Well, Tina, the first thing I would say, as a
[16:05] Speaker 2: godly woman and a godly wife, the first thing you
[16:09] Speaker 2: can do, the foremost thing that you can do, is pray.
[16:13] Speaker 2: Oftentimes it will not be you that reaches your husband.
[16:17] Speaker 2: God will bring other events or people or circumstances into
[16:22] Speaker 2: his life so that he might be genuinely transformed. Because
[16:27] Speaker 2: the one thing that you can pray that he will
[16:30] Speaker 2: see is that God not only exists, but God has
[16:36] Speaker 2: revealed himself in time and space so that we can
[16:40] Speaker 2: know him and have an intimate personal relationship with him
[16:44] Speaker 2: for time and for eternity. So he's knowable, and the
[16:48] Speaker 2: knowable God is a God who spoke to us very
[16:53] Speaker 2: clearly and taught us how we should relate to one
[16:56] Speaker 2: another and even how we should treat those who despitefully
[17:02] Speaker 2: use or those who abuse us. So he has given
[17:07] Speaker 2: us light in that direction. But if you don't embrace
[17:10] Speaker 2: that light, then you're not going to embrace that direction either.
[17:14] Speaker 2: And that's really ultimately what you pray for is that
[17:17] Speaker 2: your husband will realize that he's a sinner, will be
[17:21] Speaker 2: willing to repent of that sin. In other words, do
[17:24] Speaker 2: it God's way instead of doing it his own way.
[17:26] Speaker 2: And God's way is clearly revealed in his word, and
[17:32] Speaker 2: that word can become more real to him than the
[17:34] Speaker 2: very flesh upon his bones. And we can join together
[17:38] Speaker 2: in praying that the Holy Spirit will soften his heart
[17:41] Speaker 2: so that he will understand the full revelation. You can
[17:45] Speaker 2: also be thankful to Tina that he knows that there's
[17:48] Speaker 2: a God. There are a lot of people in today's
[17:50] Speaker 2: culture that want to explain everything as a result of
[17:53] Speaker 2: philosophical naturalism. At least he has taken the major step
[17:57] Speaker 2: in recognizing that there's a God. Now he needs to write,
[18:00] Speaker 2: recognize that that God has revealed himself, and that God
[18:04] Speaker 2: can become real to him. But pray, and sometimes you
[18:08] Speaker 2: get to stifle. It's got to be quiet and pray
[18:12] Speaker 2: because it's very hard sometimes to reach someone within your
[18:16] Speaker 2: own family, but someone else God can bring in and
[18:19] Speaker 2: do that work. I'm not saying he can't do it
[18:21] Speaker 2: through you. I'm just saying a lot of times that's
[18:23] Speaker 2: someone else. So if you can pray, you know, the
[18:26] Speaker 2: Holy Spirit can change the heart.
[18:28] Speaker 7: Okay, thank you, you got it.
[18:30] Speaker 2: Thank you so much for your call. I want to
[18:31] Speaker 2: go back to the phone lines. Talk to Jeremy next
[18:35] Speaker 2: in Oklahoma. Hi, Jeremy, good, how are you?
[18:39] Speaker 8: You're very good.
[18:39] Speaker 4: Hey.
[18:40] Speaker 8: I really appreciate your ministry and I'm praying for you daily.
[18:42] Speaker 2: Thank you.
[18:43] Speaker 8: Hey, I have a question. I have a friend at
[18:46] Speaker 8: work who is a theistic evolutionist. She loves an evolution
[18:50] Speaker 8: and it's really tough because she actually knows what Scripture
[18:54] Speaker 8: says about creation, and you know, she's been going to
[18:57] Speaker 8: church for several years with a and I'm just having
[19:02] Speaker 8: a hard time because, I mean, she just keeps pointing
[19:05] Speaker 8: back to you know, how science proves that, science proves it,
[19:07] Speaker 8: And as much as I try to tell her, you
[19:09] Speaker 8: know a lot of side I mean, science really doesn't
[19:12] Speaker 8: prove it. I'm just having a hard time at really
[19:15] Speaker 8: breaking down that barrier.
[19:16] Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I don't think that there's any way
[19:19] Speaker 2: in which you can prove that God used merely naturalistic
[19:25] Speaker 2: processes in the process of bringing people into existence. But
[19:29] Speaker 2: I think there are a lot of issues. The Biblical
[19:32] Speaker 2: account of creation specifically states that God created living creatures
[19:38] Speaker 2: according to their own kinds, and that has been confirmed
[19:42] Speaker 2: by science. The DNA for a fetus is not the
[19:44] Speaker 2: DNA for a frog, and the DNA for a frog
[19:46] Speaker 2: is not the DNA for a fish. Each is programmed
[19:50] Speaker 2: for reproduction after its own kind. So while the Bible
[19:53] Speaker 2: allows for micro evolution or transitions within kind, it doesn't
[19:57] Speaker 2: allow for macro evolution, which is an amieba evolving into
[20:01] Speaker 2: an ape and an ape evolving into an astronaut. The
[20:05] Speaker 2: second thing I would point out is that evolution is
[20:07] Speaker 2: the cruelest, most inefficient system for creation imaginable, and that's
[20:14] Speaker 2: why Jacques Manaud and I have this quote I believe
[20:17] Speaker 2: in my book The Face that demonstrates the farce of evolution.
[20:21] Speaker 2: He was a Nobel Prize winning evolutionist who said, this
[20:24] Speaker 2: struggle for life, the elimination of the weakest, is a
[20:28] Speaker 2: horrible process against which our whole modern ethic revolts and
[20:33] Speaker 2: then he said, I'm surprised a Christian would defend the
[20:35] Speaker 2: idea that this is the process which God more or
[20:38] Speaker 2: less set up in order to have evolution. And the
[20:42] Speaker 2: third thing I would point out is that theistic evolution
[20:46] Speaker 2: is a contradiction in terms is like talking about flaming snowflakes.
[20:50] Speaker 2: God can no more direct an undirected process than he
[20:54] Speaker 2: can create a squared circle. And yet that is precisely
[20:58] Speaker 2: what theistic evolution presupposes. And I think, while evolutionism is
[21:03] Speaker 2: fighting for its life, rather than prop it up with
[21:06] Speaker 2: theories like theistic evolution, thinking people should be on the
[21:11] Speaker 2: vanguard of demonstrating the demise of the evolutionary hypothesis in
[21:17] Speaker 2: an age again, a scientific enlightenment in which even the
[21:21] Speaker 2: Cambrian explosion, which was biology's Big Bang, completely unearthed Darwin's
[21:27] Speaker 2: tree of life.
[21:29] Speaker 8: Right, okay, well, hey, thank you very much. I really
[21:31] Speaker 8: appreciate that.
[21:32] Speaker 2: You got it. Thanks so much for your call. Want
[21:34] Speaker 2: to go back to the phone lines. I want to
[21:36] Speaker 2: talk to stand next to Stan is listening Mount Juliet, Tennessee.
[21:41] Speaker 9: Hi, Stan, that's great, how you do it?
[21:43] Speaker 2: Good?
[21:45] Speaker 9: Well, you know, I'm I'm an atheist. I mean, I
[21:49] Speaker 9: don't believe in the whole deity thing, just but I listened. Look,
[21:55] Speaker 9: my dad was a minister. I'm not arrogant or are
[22:01] Speaker 9: hateful towards the people who believe that there's a deity.
[22:07] Speaker 9: But my thing is, I've got a daughter who is
[22:10] Speaker 9: born with a she was born defective, she had damage
[22:16] Speaker 9: to her brain, to her central nervous system, and she's
[22:22] Speaker 9: now about twenty some years old. She will always have
[22:26] Speaker 9: the mind of a five year old or whatever. And
[22:30] Speaker 9: the pope in the top, people in all the evangelical
[22:36] Speaker 9: religions could anoint her with all and do all their prayers,
[22:39] Speaker 9: and she is still going to be retarded. I don't
[22:43] Speaker 9: believe in those miracles. I've been to the places, you know,
[22:47] Speaker 9: the institutions where they keep where there's where there's people
[22:51] Speaker 9: who are retarded, and they they don't they don't come back.
[22:58] Speaker 9: I mean, you know, they say, you know, in religion,
[23:01] Speaker 9: you say that you know, God raised people from the
[23:04] Speaker 9: dead and all that, But I don't believe that because
[23:08] Speaker 9: I mean, if you know, if a person brain damage,
[23:14] Speaker 9: they're going to be brain damage the rest of their life.
[23:17] Speaker 9: And there's no no cases, there's no known cases of
[23:21] Speaker 9: anybody who's ever healed somebody like my daughter.
[23:26] Speaker 2: Yeah, well, let me respond to that real quickly, because
[23:28] Speaker 2: first of all, we have a lot in common. I
[23:30] Speaker 2: agree with a lot of what you have said. What
[23:33] Speaker 2: I don't agree with is that you can explain the
[23:36] Speaker 2: universe through philosophical naturalism. In fact, if you do, if
[23:41] Speaker 2: that's the worldview that you embrace, then your daughter's life
[23:46] Speaker 2: is fatalistically determined on the basis of a genetics and
[23:50] Speaker 2: brain chemistry, and when she's dead, she's dead. In the meantime,
[23:54] Speaker 2: she's going to suffer. In the Christian worldview, we don't
[23:58] Speaker 2: give people a piece full way to come to terms
[24:01] Speaker 2: with the difficulties of life. We give them something far greater,
[24:05] Speaker 2: a way to overcome that through the power of Christ's resurrection.
[24:09] Speaker 2: So we're not claiming that people do not suffer. We're
[24:15] Speaker 2: not claiming that God heals all people. In fact, we
[24:19] Speaker 2: would say a miracle is not normative. If it were normal,
[24:23] Speaker 2: we wouldn't even call it a miracle. What we are
[24:26] Speaker 2: saying is that God created the universe. It is philosophically
[24:33] Speaker 2: implausible to suggest, in an age of scientific enlightenment, that
[24:36] Speaker 2: nothing created everything. So I think the evidence that every
[24:41] Speaker 2: effect has to have a cause equal to her greater
[24:43] Speaker 2: than itself overwhelmingly is supported by the evidence that we
[24:48] Speaker 2: experience in the world around us. Secondly, Jesus Christ did
[24:53] Speaker 2: demonstrate that he was God through a miracle, and that
[24:56] Speaker 2: miracle isn't something that we're saying is repeated to and
[25:00] Speaker 2: over again. We're saying that through that singular miracle, Jesus
[25:04] Speaker 2: Christ stands out. He's not one who stands in a
[25:08] Speaker 2: line of peers with Bahai or Buddha or Confucius. He's
[25:12] Speaker 2: utterly unique. He demonstrated his uniqueness in that he had
[25:15] Speaker 2: the power to lay down his life and take it
[25:17] Speaker 2: up again, thus demonstrating that he has got and that
[25:21] Speaker 2: that Jesus Christ can come into your heart, can come
[25:25] Speaker 2: into your daughter's heart, and as a result of that,
[25:30] Speaker 2: you can experience the best of all possible worlds, a
[25:34] Speaker 2: world in which there is no more death, mourning, crying,
[25:37] Speaker 2: or pain. But that's not this world. There's a time
[25:41] Speaker 2: in which the old order of things will be done
[25:42] Speaker 2: away with and then everything will become new. In the meantime,
[25:47] Speaker 2: we suffer, but we can have peace in the midst
[25:53] Speaker 2: of the storm. If you'll hang on Stan, I want
[25:56] Speaker 2: to send you a book just as a gift along
[25:59] Speaker 2: with that's my prayer that you will read it and
[26:03] Speaker 2: that it will be the balm of Gilead in your
[26:05] Speaker 2: life and the life of your daughter. Thank you so much,
