[0:07] Speaker 1: From Charlotte, North Carolina. You're listening to the Bible answer
[0:11] Speaker 1: Man broadcast with Hank Hanagraph, president of the Christian Research Institute.
[0:16] Speaker 1: The reason the Bible answer Man is on the air
[0:18] Speaker 1: is to defend the Christian faith, proclaim the gospel of
[0:22] Speaker 1: our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to teach discipleship
[0:26] Speaker 1: to his followers, because life and truth matter. For more
[0:30] Speaker 1: information or to order equipping resources, call eight eight eight
[0:34] Speaker 1: seven thousand CRII, which translates to eight eight eight seven
[0:39] Speaker 1: thousand two seven four, or go online to equip dot org.
[0:44] Speaker 1: That's equip dot org. The following program was pre recorded,
[0:50] Speaker 1: and now here's your host, Hank Anagraph.
[0:53] Speaker 2: Thanks very much, Randy. As we get the broadcast kicked
[0:56] Speaker 2: off today, I want to say just a couple of
[0:57] Speaker 2: words about theistic evolution, because under its banner, a growing
[1:02] Speaker 2: number of Christians are maintaining that God used evolution as
[1:07] Speaker 2: his method for creation, and that, in my estimation, is
[1:11] Speaker 2: the worst of all possibilities. I think it's one thing
[1:14] Speaker 2: to blame in evolution, it's quite another to blame God
[1:18] Speaker 2: for it. The Biblical account of creation specifically tells us
[1:22] Speaker 2: that God created living creatures according to their own kinds.
[1:29] Speaker 2: And therefore, while the Bible and science allow for micro evolution,
[1:34] Speaker 2: they do not in any way allow for macro evolution.
[1:39] Speaker 2: In other words, Amiba's well evolving into apes or apes
[1:43] Speaker 2: evolving into astronauts. Furthermore, evolution is the cruelest it's the
[1:49] Speaker 2: most inefficient system for creation imaginable, and therefore I am
[1:54] Speaker 2: quite surprised that Christians today are defending the idea that
[1:59] Speaker 2: this is the process which God more or less set
[2:02] Speaker 2: up in order to have evolution. Theistic evolution, from my perspective,
[2:07] Speaker 2: is simply a contradiction. In terms, It's like talking about
[2:11] Speaker 2: flaming snowflakes. God can no more direct an undirected process
[2:15] Speaker 2: than he can create a squared circle. And yet that
[2:19] Speaker 2: is precisely what theistic evolution presupposes. Look, evolution is fighting
[2:26] Speaker 2: for its very life, so rather than prop it up
[2:29] Speaker 2: with theories like theistic evolution, thinking people everywhere should be
[2:34] Speaker 2: on the vanguard of demonstrating its demise. I've written about
[2:38] Speaker 2: this and much more in the Creation answer Book. Many
[2:41] Speaker 2: of the resources I'll talk about during the broadcast you
[2:43] Speaker 2: can find them at equipped dot org. During we can
[2:47] Speaker 2: also write me at post office Box eighty five hundred, Charlotte,
[2:50] Speaker 2: North Caroline, HASIP code two eight two seven one and
[2:53] Speaker 2: has always Resource Consultants are standing by the number triple
[2:58] Speaker 2: eight seven thousand, and the literacyri I want to go
[3:01] Speaker 2: to the phone lines. We'll talk to Bill. He's listening
[3:04] Speaker 2: in Meadow Vista, California.
[3:06] Speaker 3: Hi. Bill, Hi, how are you.
[3:08] Speaker 2: I'm good? How are you?
[3:10] Speaker 3: I'm fabulous. I just got back from vacation and I
[3:16] Speaker 3: finished up the last of your trilogy On the Last Disciple,
[3:21] Speaker 3: as well as The FEUs of Armageddon. And I'm a
[3:25] Speaker 3: nationally published Christian writer as well as a physician. And
[3:29] Speaker 3: the writing in your books is phenomenal, and the book
[3:34] Speaker 3: The FEUs of Armageddon, I think could be one of
[3:37] Speaker 3: the most important books you know of this sanctuary, you know,
[3:41] Speaker 3: with the implications of it. But be that as it may.
[3:46] Speaker 3: Just want to plug your books.
[3:47] Speaker 2: Well, let me say thank you before you go on.
[3:49] Speaker 2: Thank you very much.
[3:51] Speaker 3: What I was calling about is that I had been
[3:54] Speaker 3: looking at Francis collins Biologos website and in some ways
[4:00] Speaker 3: that appealed to me in that I don't believe that
[4:04] Speaker 3: there are such things as blind natural forces, because even
[4:09] Speaker 3: randomness has an elegance to it and a complexity to it.
[4:15] Speaker 3: As to mathematics and all physical laws that you know,
[4:19] Speaker 3: they screen intelligent design, and so, you know, the traditional
[4:24] Speaker 3: view of theistic evolution is that God uses these blind
[4:29] Speaker 3: natural forces that you know. To me, it sounds like,
[4:33] Speaker 3: you know, there's something that happened when different species were created,
[4:39] Speaker 3: something at that instant, and God either does primary causation
[4:43] Speaker 3: where he kind of puts something into existence, or he
[4:46] Speaker 3: uses its natural laws. And I think, consistent with Saint
[4:51] Speaker 3: Augustine in the two Books of Scripture and Nature, that
[4:54] Speaker 3: God uses to show us the universe. You know, it
[4:58] Speaker 3: seems to me that in some ways intelligent design stifles that,
[5:03] Speaker 3: you know, sorting out and exploring into God's mysteries of
[5:07] Speaker 3: what seems so improbable.
[5:09] Speaker 2: Well, I mean, I think intelligent design is just designed,
[5:13] Speaker 2: if you will, to follow truth wherever it leads. But look,
[5:17] Speaker 2: in the view of the Biologuist foundation, science dictates that
[5:22] Speaker 2: modern human beings emerged from primates one hundred thousand years
[5:26] Speaker 2: ago in a population numbering some ten thousand, not two.
[5:31] Speaker 2: And while Collins and companies staunchly defend Darwinian evolution, their
[5:36] Speaker 2: views don't correspond to reality, and that's my big problem
[5:40] Speaker 2: with what he's teaching and saying. For example, Darwin hung
[5:44] Speaker 2: his hopes on hundreds of thousands of transitional forms leading
[5:49] Speaker 2: to the fossils of the Cambrian explosion, but in actuality,
[5:53] Speaker 2: the poverty of the fossil record has been an embarrassment.
[5:57] Speaker 2: Virtually all known body places appear abruptly in the Cambrian
[6:03] Speaker 2: and therefore, as I've said many times on this broadcast,
[6:05] Speaker 2: I think the Cambrian radiation vaporized the Darwinian tree of life.
[6:10] Speaker 2: But not only so. Scripture plainly opposes the collective rhetoric
[6:15] Speaker 2: of theistic evolutionists who are denying the reality of a
[6:19] Speaker 2: historical Adam and Eve. The Bible makes it very clear
[6:22] Speaker 2: from one man, God made differing nation of men that
[6:25] Speaker 2: they should inhabit the whole earth. So sacred scripture, in
[6:30] Speaker 2: concert with sound science, makes plain that kinds reproduce according
[6:36] Speaker 2: to their own kinds. And therefore the evolutionary paradigm that
[6:41] Speaker 2: is being perpetuated by Collins simply doesn't correspond to reality.
[6:46] Speaker 2: And if the first Adam and Eve had not fallen
[6:49] Speaker 2: into elves or perpetual sin terminated by death, there'd be
[6:52] Speaker 2: no need for God to send a second atom.
[6:55] Speaker 3: Well do you think that God did a special primary causation,
[7:02] Speaker 3: miraculous de novo ex nihilo production of all the various
[7:10] Speaker 3: species out of nothing at that instant.
[7:13] Speaker 2: Well, yes, this is what the Bible states. The Bible
[7:17] Speaker 2: states that kinds reproduce after their own kinds, that one
[7:22] Speaker 2: kind does not evolve into another kind. So we allow
[7:26] Speaker 2: for microevolution in the Biblical worldview, but not for macro evolution.
[7:30] Speaker 2: But the point that I'm trying to make here is
[7:33] Speaker 2: that what the Bible states is cooborated by science. So
[7:39] Speaker 2: what Collins is hanging on to is mythology. The Cambrian
[7:44] Speaker 2: explosion underscores from hard evidence in general revelation that all
[7:53] Speaker 2: known body plans appear abruptly in the Cambrian And therefore
[7:58] Speaker 2: this whole notion of great days and mutations as posited
[8:03] Speaker 2: by the Darwinian viewpoint which is espoused by Collins and company,
[8:08] Speaker 2: they don't correspond either biblical reality or scientific reality.
[8:13] Speaker 3: Well yeah, they have what they call a more flexible,
[8:20] Speaker 3: less wooden interpretation of the Book of Genesis, that it
[8:28] Speaker 3: was not written as as a science literature. But you know,
[8:34] Speaker 3: that it did speak to what happened in general and
[8:39] Speaker 3: specifically how that happened scientifically, right, But.
[8:43] Speaker 2: I'm not disagreeing with that. I'm not disagreeing with that
[8:46] Speaker 2: point of view. I mean, I think that what Genesis
[8:49] Speaker 2: is doing is never contra science. But it's not meant
[8:53] Speaker 2: to be a scientific handbook. It is rather meant for
[8:58] Speaker 2: us to understand the chirological impact of God's creative prowess.
[9:04] Speaker 2: In other words, God's purposes in creation. So it's not
[9:09] Speaker 2: meant to give us a chronology of creation, but it
[9:11] Speaker 2: is meant to give us God's purposes in creation. But
[9:15] Speaker 2: what I'm pointing out is that general revelation militates against
[9:20] Speaker 2: the view of Collins. In other words, the fossil evidence
[9:24] Speaker 2: simply says no to the viewpoint that he's espousing, and
[9:29] Speaker 2: I think that this is the way I'm arguing now.
[9:33] Speaker 2: I'm also arguing that the whole notion of God's special
[9:38] Speaker 2: creation of Adam and Eve is explicit in the scriptures,
[9:42] Speaker 2: and unless you hold to this, the scriptures become contradictory,
[9:46] Speaker 2: because our Savior himself said at the beginning, the Creator
[9:50] Speaker 2: made them male and female. And unless one be tempted
[9:54] Speaker 2: to allegorize the words of the Lord. It's instructive to
[9:57] Speaker 2: note that Jesus further affirmed historical Adam and even when
[10:01] Speaker 2: it referred to the murder of their son Abel. But
[10:04] Speaker 2: not only that, Luke, writing to a primarily gentile audience,
[10:08] Speaker 2: extends the genealogy past Abraham to the first Adam, and
[10:14] Speaker 2: therefore highlights Christ the second Atom is the savior of
[10:17] Speaker 2: all humanity. And even if that's insufficient in someone's mind,
[10:22] Speaker 2: Chronicles provides a historical record from Adam to the exile. Likewise,
[10:27] Speaker 2: starting at Genesis five to one, Moses gives the written
[10:31] Speaker 2: account of Adam's line. So I think that Genesis is
[10:36] Speaker 2: a historical narrative interlaced with Jewish poetry, but it's hardly
[10:41] Speaker 2: an allegory. Come to the station break. We'll be right
[10:44] Speaker 2: back on the other side of the break with more
[10:46] Speaker 2: answers to your questions right here on the Bible answer
[10:49] Speaker 2: Man broadcast.
[10:50] Speaker 1: If you were going into combat, what would be more
[10:53] Speaker 1: important the number of those who were for you or
[10:56] Speaker 1: the number of those who were with you. Now apply
[10:59] Speaker 1: that question to today's battle for the hearts and minds of
[11:02] Speaker 1: literally millions of people at home and abroad. That's what
[11:06] Speaker 1: makes members of CRI's support teams so vital. They're not
[11:11] Speaker 1: simply for CRI's critical mission. They're standing with CRI each
[11:16] Speaker 1: and every day. If you want your voice and your
[11:19] Speaker 1: values to be heard twenty four to seven through the

[12:01] Speaker 1: who's been paying attention knows there's a war going on,
[12:04] Speaker 1: not just on traditional morality, civility, and decency, but even
[12:09] Speaker 1: more fundamentally on historic notions of truth. And the enemy
[12:12] Speaker 1: isn't just the onslaught of fake news, facilitated by a
[12:16] Speaker 1: post truth culture and turbocharged by growing legions of ideological spinductors.
[12:21] Speaker 1: Note the real enemies of truth range from postmodernist convictions
[12:25] Speaker 1: that there is no objective truth to militant scientism that
[12:29] Speaker 1: claims that only science can determine truth, and religion is
[12:33] Speaker 1: little more than primitive superstitions. But CRI Support Team members
[12:37] Speaker 1: are not waving a white flag of surrender. They're holding
[12:41] Speaker 1: the fort by undergirding everyone of Christian Research Institute's mind

[13:01] Speaker 4: Hank Hanigraph has dedicated his life to defending truth because
[13:05] Speaker 4: truth matters. However, his life and ministry were radically transformed
[13:09] Speaker 4: by another three word phrase, Life matters more. Truth matters
[13:13] Speaker 4: because Christianity is rooted in history and evidence. Life matters
[13:17] Speaker 4: more because it is the experience of union with God.
[13:21] Speaker 4: The goal of Christian life is union with God. All
[13:24] Speaker 4: attempts to understand Christianity from a solely rational perspective put
[13:28] Speaker 4: us in danger of devolving into a transactional rather than
[13:31] Speaker 4: transformational relationship with God. Truth matters, Life matters more will
[13:36] Speaker 4: equip you to move beyond intellectually knowing about God to

[15:07] Speaker 1: Once again, here is.
[15:09] Speaker 2: Hand catagraphs ivery much Randy, and we go right back
[15:12] Speaker 2: to our phone callers. Next up is Alex listening in
[15:15] Speaker 2: oh Maha, Nebraska.
[15:17] Speaker 5: Hi Alex, Hi, Hi, thanks great to talk to you.
[15:20] Speaker 2: Nice to talk to you.
[15:21] Speaker 5: I have a question I've been I've been talking and
[15:23] Speaker 5: preaching online to people, like especially on YouTube, and I
[15:28] Speaker 5: keep talking with some evolutionists. I remember respect, but one
[15:33] Speaker 5: of my problems is that every time I prove them wrong,
[15:36] Speaker 5: not to win nothing, just to prove that evolution is wrong.
[15:40] Speaker 5: They have like this ability to escape, like in like
[15:43] Speaker 5: in such ways like how do we know this is reality?
[15:46] Speaker 5: And stuff like that, Like I don't know how to
[15:49] Speaker 5: deal with it. Like they don't change their view no
[15:51] Speaker 5: matter how many evidence I show them proving evolutions that
[15:55] Speaker 5: haven't work right, and and how much evidence that there
[15:59] Speaker 5: is for Jesus archaeological and history and by the historians
[16:04] Speaker 5: there was a Jesus and all this, they just don't
[16:06] Speaker 5: change their mind. I don't know what to do when
[16:08] Speaker 5: I talk to them, because I feel bad because they're
[16:11] Speaker 5: teaching wrong teachings to young kids on YouTube. You know
[16:15] Speaker 5: they're there, they believe it. You're like, Wow, I'm amazed.
[16:18] Speaker 5: I can't believe I was a monkey, you know, or
[16:20] Speaker 5: ape like teacher, and it's just sad and I try
[16:24] Speaker 5: to and they're spreading. I don't know what to do
[16:26] Speaker 5: about it.
[16:27] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[16:28] Speaker 2: Well, first of all, it's great that you're hanging out
[16:30] Speaker 2: on YouTube and being a witness for Jesus Christ. You're
[16:33] Speaker 2: to be commended for that. But remember that it's never
[16:36] Speaker 2: your province to change anybody's heart. That's the province of
[16:41] Speaker 2: the Holy Spirit. What you ought to be doing is
[16:45] Speaker 2: precisely what you are doing, and that is equipping or
[16:48] Speaker 2: preparing yourself to be an ever more effective tool in
[16:52] Speaker 2: the hands of the Holy Spirit in terms of reaching people.
[16:55] Speaker 2: So the results are not what you're after. What you're
[16:58] Speaker 2: after is precisely what you're doing, always being ready to
[17:02] Speaker 2: give an answer or reason for the hope that lies
[17:04] Speaker 2: within you with gentleness and with respect. When I was
[17:08] Speaker 2: a person who believed in philosophical naturalism and evolutionism, I'm
[17:12] Speaker 2: sure there were many people who witnessed to me over
[17:14] Speaker 2: the years who probably sighed deeply and thought no one
[17:19] Speaker 2: will ever reach him. But eventually the seeds that they
[17:24] Speaker 2: planted someone else came along and watered, and God gave
[17:27] Speaker 2: the increase, and I was able to take an objective
[17:30] Speaker 2: look at the evidences and recognize that the evolutionary paradigm,
[17:35] Speaker 2: which I once thought made so much sense, makes no
[17:38] Speaker 2: sense whatsoever. You're forced to believe that life came from
[17:44] Speaker 2: non life, that nothing produced everything, and for that matter,
[17:49] Speaker 2: that the life that came from non life produced morals.
[17:52] Speaker 2: I mean, this is a stretch, to say the least. Logically,
[17:56] Speaker 2: we know that every effect has to have a cause
[17:58] Speaker 2: equal to her greater than itself. If you look at
[18:00] Speaker 2: the universe, you must certainly be driven to the notion
[18:04] Speaker 2: that there's an uncaused first cause by which the universe
[18:09] Speaker 2: came into existence. So I think all of the evidence
[18:12] Speaker 2: is on our side of the ledger, and we need
[18:14] Speaker 2: to simply communicate it with gentleness and with respect. But
[18:18] Speaker 2: leave the conversion process in the hands of the Holy Spirit.
[18:22] Speaker 2: We can be an effective tool, but he ultimately is
[18:25] Speaker 2: the one who transforms the heart.
[18:28] Speaker 5: Thank you, man. What do you recommend to people that
[18:30] Speaker 5: just keep on going on like you don't listen whatever
[18:32] Speaker 5: you write? So I just leave it alone.
[18:34] Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean again, you shouldn't feel the obligation to
[18:39] Speaker 2: do something that you're not obligated to do. What you
[18:41] Speaker 2: are obligated to do is to be an effective witness.
[18:44] Speaker 2: What you are not obligated to do is change anybody's heart.
[18:48] Speaker 5: I thank you. That's a clip that or you have
[18:50] Speaker 5: resources for evolution by teaching how creation?
[18:52] Speaker 2: Yeah, you know. I have a book that I've mentioned
[18:55] Speaker 2: on today's broadcast called the Creation answer Book. In this book,
[18:59] Speaker 2: I basicly go through the evidences against the evolutionary paradigm.
[19:06] Speaker 2: I demonstrate that the whole notion of one kind evolving
[19:12] Speaker 2: into another kind simply does not correspond to reality. Then
[19:16] Speaker 2: I go over the ape men, fiction fantasies, and frauds
[19:20] Speaker 2: that are being taught to young people today in the
[19:23] Speaker 2: classroom and show how they don't correspond to reality. Then
[19:28] Speaker 2: I demonstrate the chance that which happens without cause implies
[19:33] Speaker 2: the absence of both design and a designer. However, all
[19:36] Speaker 2: of the evidence points in a different direction. And then
[19:40] Speaker 2: I point out that the basic laws of science militate
[19:43] Speaker 2: against the evolutionary hypothesis. And therefore, as we move farther
[19:49] Speaker 2: and farther in an age of scientific enlightenment, more and
[19:52] Speaker 2: more evidence comes to light which causes the evolutionary foundation
[19:58] Speaker 2: to start to crack in such a way that ultimately
[20:00] Speaker 2: it's going to have to completely disintegrate because it's simply
[20:05] Speaker 2: is a theory that people are sort of forced to
[20:08] Speaker 2: communicate and believe, but it has no real basis and evidence.
[20:13] Speaker 2: It is a fairy tale for adults.
[20:15] Speaker 5: Thank you, Hank Minelo Kei. Blessing you for what you're doing.
[20:18] Speaker 5: You're helping millions.
[20:19] Speaker 2: Thank you, Alex. Appreciate your call back to the phone lines. Sheila, Honolulu, Hawaii.
[20:24] Speaker 3: Hi, Sheila, Hi, thank you for picking a call.
[20:28] Speaker 1: You're welcome to know.
[20:30] Speaker 2: I guess I saw two.
[20:31] Speaker 3: Different spirits at my aunt's house when I was sleeping
[20:34] Speaker 3: over and being a.
[20:35] Speaker 5: Christian, I shouldn't be afraid, but yet I don't know
[20:38] Speaker 5: why I'm seeing it.
[20:40] Speaker 2: Well, Sheila, you have to take your subjective experience and
[20:43] Speaker 2: test it in light of an objective frame of reference,
[20:47] Speaker 2: which is the Word of God. And what we know
[20:50] Speaker 2: for certain about the Word of God is that when
[20:53] Speaker 2: someone dies, they are either in torment, which is to say,
[20:58] Speaker 2: they're away from the loving presence of God, or they
[21:01] Speaker 2: are being comforted in the presence of God. But they
[21:05] Speaker 2: do not and cannot return to this time space continuum
[21:10] Speaker 2: without God's divine prerogative, and God does not do this
[21:15] Speaker 2: in a normal or a normative fashion. Therefore, the subjective
[21:20] Speaker 2: experience of seeing a dead relative is something that does
[21:25] Speaker 2: not correspond to the truth of scripture. Now, it doesn't
[21:28] Speaker 2: mean that you didn't have a real experience and that
[21:31] Speaker 2: you really think that this is true. Of course you do.
[21:35] Speaker 2: But there are many things that we experience subjectively that
[21:40] Speaker 2: objectively are invalidated. And that's why we also have to
[21:43] Speaker 2: test the subjective experience again in light of the word
[21:48] Speaker 2: of God, which is the final test for faith and practice.
[21:52] Speaker 5: What do you mean by test it because it's not
[21:53] Speaker 5: a relative. I don't know this person.
[21:55] Speaker 1: I cannot see the faith.
[21:57] Speaker 2: Well, but I'm saying whether it's a relative or anyone else.
[22:00] Speaker 2: We know that those who have died do not return
[22:05] Speaker 2: to the land of the living. But we also know
[22:08] Speaker 2: something to be absolutely true on the basis of scripture,
[22:11] Speaker 2: and that is that Satan will play upon the field
[22:15] Speaker 2: of our imagination and our superstition. And that's why when
[22:20] Speaker 2: you test things in light of scripture, you know it
[22:22] Speaker 2: can't be a ghost or a departed person. But you
[22:26] Speaker 2: can know that why you cannot see Satan that he
[22:30] Speaker 2: will try to influence your thoughts. And that's why you
[22:34] Speaker 2: have to put on the full armor of God so
[22:36] Speaker 2: you can take your stand against principalities and powers of darkness.
[22:41] Speaker 2: All right, thank you, you got it, Sheila. I've written
[22:44] Speaker 2: about this in a book called The Covering. Back to
[22:46] Speaker 2: the phone Lines. We talked to Deleen in Columbia, Mississippi High.
[22:50] Speaker 6: Deleen, Hi, thank you for taking my call.
[22:53] Speaker 5: You're welcome.
[22:54] Speaker 6: My question is about the passover. So is it just
[22:57] Speaker 6: traditions a man that they call the last for the Passover.
[23:01] Speaker 6: I know in the Gospel it speaks as passover. Peter
[23:05] Speaker 6: and John were instructed to go and prepare for the Passover,
[23:08] Speaker 6: but Jesus, being on passover lamb, was crucified at three
[23:12] Speaker 6: pm on the day that they fill the lamb. The
[23:16] Speaker 6: Passover supper is to be eaten that night, which will
[23:18] Speaker 6: be the beginning of the next day, the first day
[23:21] Speaker 6: of eleven bread. Why does the Bible say that Jesus
[23:25] Speaker 6: ate the Passover supper with the disciples when it's impossible
[23:30] Speaker 6: he was crucified.
[23:32] Speaker 2: Well, I'm really glad that you're reading your Bible carefully.
[23:35] Speaker 2: One of the things you'll find as you read the
[23:37] Speaker 2: Bible carefully is that Jesus died on Passover Day or
[23:40] Speaker 2: Friday to fulfill the conditions of being or Passover lamb.
[23:45] Speaker 2: So you're correct in that presupposition. But there's a time
[23:50] Speaker 2: difference between the household observance of the Passover meal on
[23:56] Speaker 2: the evening of the fourteenth of Nissan, which is Thursday evening,
[24:01] Speaker 2: which the lords celebrated with his disciples as the Lord's Supper,
[24:05] Speaker 2: and the public sacrifice on the altar on behalf of
[24:07] Speaker 2: the nation of Israel on the fifteenth of Nissan. And
[24:11] Speaker 2: I think therein lies the answer to your question.
[24:14] Speaker 6: Well, see, I believe Jesus was in the grade three
[24:17] Speaker 6: days and three nights, because he says Jonah was in
[24:19] Speaker 6: the belly of the fish three days and three nights,
[24:23] Speaker 6: So the son of Man would be in the heart
[24:24] Speaker 6: of the earth three days and three nights.
[24:27] Speaker 2: Yeah, but that doesn't mean seventy two hours.
[24:30] Speaker 6: You can't get three days and three nights out of
[24:32] Speaker 6: Friday afternoon.
[24:33] Speaker 2: But I was just going to explain that to you. Again,
[24:35] Speaker 2: you're correct in the basic idea that you're communicating. The
[24:39] Speaker 2: Gospels say that he died and he was buried the
[24:43] Speaker 2: day before the Sabbath or Friday, and rose on the
[24:46] Speaker 2: day after the Sabbath or on Sunday. And the answer
[24:51] Speaker 2: therefore to the conundrum that you pose is that in
[24:54] Speaker 2: the Jewish mind, part of a day was counted as
[24:59] Speaker 2: an entire day. And that's why it's so important to
[25:03] Speaker 2: learn the idioms or figures the speech that are used
[25:06] Speaker 2: in scripture. And by the way, you know that it
[25:09] Speaker 2: couldn't have been seventy two hours that were in mind,
[25:12] Speaker 2: because Christ rose on the third day, not after three days,
[25:18] Speaker 2: according to Matthew chapter sixteen. So again I think it's
[25:22] Speaker 2: important to understand that part of a day and part
[25:27] Speaker 2: of a night constituted as a day and a night,
[25:30] Speaker 2: and so you don't have to have a full seventy
[25:32] Speaker 2: two hours. Literally, that's not what is in view. In fact,
[25:36] Speaker 2: if you read the text carefully, you know not only
[25:40] Speaker 2: by the function of Jewish idiom that I've just described,
[25:43] Speaker 2: but you know from the text itself that it couldn't
[25:46] Speaker 2: have been a full seventy two hours that are in view.
