[0:07] Speaker 1: Welcome to the best of the Bible answer Man broadcast
[0:10] Speaker 1: with your host, Hank Antigraph. The Bible answer Man is
[0:14] Speaker 1: the radio ministry of the Christian Research Institute, designed to
[0:18] Speaker 1: equip believers to defend their faith and become true disciples
[0:22] Speaker 1: of the Lord Jesus Christ, because life and truth matter.
[0:27] Speaker 1: Our phone number is eight eight eight seven thousand CRII.
[0:31] Speaker 1: That's one eight eight eight seven thousand, two seven four.
[0:35] Speaker 1: You can find us on the Internet at equip dot org.
[0:38] Speaker 1: That's equip dot org. The following program was pre recorded,
[0:44] Speaker 1: and now to begin today's broadcast, here's Hank Canagraph.
[0:48] Speaker 2: We'll be going to your calls in just a few moments.
[0:51] Speaker 2: Night finished reading the CT story titled The Search for
[0:57] Speaker 2: the Historical Atom, and quite frankly, the illustrations inside in
[1:04] Speaker 2: the article itself are frankly repulsive. But the story is
[1:12] Speaker 2: about Francis Collins and the Biologists Foundation that he founded.
[1:21] Speaker 2: The article says Collins, one of the most eminent scientists
[1:25] Speaker 2: ever to identify as an evangelical Christian, staunchly defends Darwinian
[1:34] Speaker 2: evolution even as he insists on God as the creator
[1:42] Speaker 2: at issue the traditional tenet that God directly created Adam
[1:49] Speaker 2: and Eve Colin's two thousand and six best seller. The
[1:52] Speaker 2: argument goes on to say in the article in the
[1:56] Speaker 2: Language of God reported that modern humans emerged from primate
[2:03] Speaker 2: ancestors perhaps one hundred thousand years ago and originated with
[2:09] Speaker 2: a population that numbered something like ten thousand, not two individuals.
[2:17] Speaker 2: And in a recent pro evolution book from Interervarsity Press,
[2:22] Speaker 2: the Language of Science and Faith was the title, Collins
[2:25] Speaker 2: and his co author announced that, unfortunately, the concepts of
[2:30] Speaker 2: Adam and Eve as the literal first couple and the
[2:35] Speaker 2: ancestors of all humans simply quote do not fit the
[2:42] Speaker 2: evidence close quote. So the question, of course that arises
[2:49] Speaker 2: is this, did Adam and Eve really exist? And again
[2:56] Speaker 2: a growing number of Christian thinkers say no. Francis Collins
[3:02] Speaker 2: is among them. In his view, science dictates that modern
[3:09] Speaker 2: humans emerged from primates one hundred thousand years ago, as
[3:14] Speaker 2: I just read in the article, in a population numbering
[3:19] Speaker 2: around ten thousand, certainly not Adam and Eve war two.
[3:25] Speaker 2: And not only so, but according to biologous expert Peter Ends,
[3:31] Speaker 2: the Bible itself invites a symbolic reading respecting the first
[3:36] Speaker 2: man and woman. So again the question did Adam and
[3:40] Speaker 2: Eve exist or are they merely allegorical? And we have
[3:45] Speaker 2: to have an answer to that because a lot of
[3:47] Speaker 2: people now using the label evangelical Christians are using the
[3:54] Speaker 2: argument that they are allegorical. Problem with that. First, when
[4:03] Speaker 2: Collins and company staunchly defend Darwinian evolution, their views failed
[4:11] Speaker 2: to correspond with reality. Darwin hung his hopes on hundreds
[4:17] Speaker 2: of thousands of transitional forms leading to the fossils of
[4:21] Speaker 2: the Cambrian explosion, while in actuality none appear. Instead, virtually
[4:28] Speaker 2: all known body plans appear abruptly in the Cambrian. Plainly put,
[4:35] Speaker 2: the Cambrian radiation vaporizes the Darwinian tree of life. Moreover,
[4:45] Speaker 2: molecular biology has increasingly become an intractable enigma for Darwinian dogmatists.
[4:56] Speaker 2: A second point is this scripture plainly opposes the collective
[5:04] Speaker 2: rhetoric of theistic evolutionists who deny the reality of the
[5:10] Speaker 2: historical Adam and Eve. And Paul made that crystal clear.
[5:14] Speaker 2: He said from one man, God made every nation of
[5:18] Speaker 2: men that they should inhabit the whole earth. In fact,
[5:22] Speaker 2: sacred scripture, in concert with science, makes plain that kinds
[5:29] Speaker 2: reproduce according to their kinds. Moreover, had the first Atom
[5:35] Speaker 2: not fallen into a life of perpetual sin terminated by death,
[5:38] Speaker 2: there would have been no need for a second Atom.
[5:43] Speaker 2: And Paul was emphatic, since death came through a man,
[5:48] Speaker 2: the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man.
[5:52] Speaker 2: For as Adam we all die, so in Christ all
[5:56] Speaker 2: will be made alive. One final point, and this I
[6:00] Speaker 2: think is the quintessential point. Our Saviour's words should cast
[6:05] Speaker 2: a pall on all Adam and Eve deniers. At the beginning,
[6:11] Speaker 2: said Jesus, the Creator made them male in female, And
[6:15] Speaker 2: lest one be tempted to allegorize the words of our Lord,
[6:19] Speaker 2: it is instructive to note that Jesus further affirmed a
[6:23] Speaker 2: historical Adam and Eve when he referenced the murder of
[6:26] Speaker 2: their son Abel. Not only so, but Luke, who was
[6:32] Speaker 2: writing to a primarily gentile audience, extends the genealogy of
[6:37] Speaker 2: Jesus past Abraham to the first Adam, thus highlighting Christ
[6:42] Speaker 2: the second Atom as the savior of all humanity. And
[6:48] Speaker 2: should that prove insufficient, Chronicles provides a historical record from
[6:54] Speaker 2: Adam to the exile. Likewise, Moses provides the written account
[7:02] Speaker 2: of Adam's line. So if one thing you can be sure.
[7:07] Speaker 2: Though Genesis is a historical narrative that is interlaced with
[7:12] Speaker 2: Jewish poetry, it is hardly an allegory. Again, this involves
[7:22] Speaker 2: learning to read the Bible for all it's worth. And
[7:29] Speaker 2: I think it's sad that we live in a time
[7:33] Speaker 2: in which we are under prepared to deal with the
[7:37] Speaker 2: worst of all possibilities, which is this theistic evolutionary paradigm,
[7:43] Speaker 2: which is, as I just mentioned, growing increasingly popular. You
[7:50] Speaker 2: should read the quotes from the evangelical scholars in this
[7:57] Speaker 2: article that are supporting the notion that there was not
[8:03] Speaker 2: a first Adam and Eve, not a population of two,
[8:08] Speaker 2: but a population of ten thousand plus. It's time that
[8:14] Speaker 2: we are equipped to always be ready to give an answer,
[8:16] Speaker 2: a reason for the hope that lies within us, with
[8:19] Speaker 2: gentleness and with respect, and certainly when it comes to
[8:25] Speaker 2: the issue of origins. Let's go right to the phone lines.
[8:29] Speaker 2: First up, as Jamie listening on Serious XEM one one
[8:33] Speaker 2: in London, Ontario.
[8:35] Speaker 3: Hi, Jamie him you just said something reading the Bible
[8:40] Speaker 3: for all it's worth.
[8:41] Speaker 4: What do you mean by that?
[8:43] Speaker 2: What I mean is that we need to be able
[8:46] Speaker 2: to apply the art and science of biblical interpretation in
[8:50] Speaker 2: reading the Bible. And I've said this on the Bible
[8:53] Speaker 2: answer Man broadcast before. It's a science and that rules apply,
[8:57] Speaker 2: it's an art, and that the more you apply the rules,
[8:59] Speaker 2: the better you get at it.
[9:01] Speaker 1: Okay, So just like reading the Bible through, is that
[9:05] Speaker 1: not reading it.
[9:06] Speaker 3: For alls worth or not?
[9:07] Speaker 2: Well, you need to know how to read the scripture
[9:10] Speaker 2: because if you don't know how to read the scripture,
[9:12] Speaker 2: you can come up with all kinds of bad interpretations,
[9:16] Speaker 2: which is to say, you can take a historical narrative
[9:19] Speaker 2: and misread the historical narrative as though it were an allegory. Conversely,
[9:26] Speaker 2: you could read apocalyptic literature and you could read meanings
[9:32] Speaker 2: into phrases, which are more a function of a fertile
[9:37] Speaker 2: imagination than a function of reading scripture in light of scripture,
[9:41] Speaker 2: which is precisely what we are called to do. We
[9:44] Speaker 2: are to interpret the Bible in light of the Bible.
[9:47] Speaker 2: And unfortunately, people don't read whole books at a time.
[9:52] Speaker 2: They read little bits and pieces here and there and
[9:55] Speaker 2: cobble them together, and as a result of that they
[9:58] Speaker 2: end up with a bad reading a scripture which is
[10:00] Speaker 2: precisely what we're dealing with in the Kingdom of the Cults,
[10:03] Speaker 2: and now, unfortunately it has migrated into Christianity where we
[10:08] Speaker 2: don't know how to read the Bible for all it's worth.
[10:11] Speaker 2: For example, if the Bible tells you that God walked
[10:16] Speaker 2: with Adam and even the cool of the day, does
[10:18] Speaker 2: that mean God has feet? No, it doesn't mean that.
[10:22] Speaker 2: And the reason you answered that question correctly is because
[10:26] Speaker 2: you obviously know how to read the Bible for all
[10:30] Speaker 2: it's worth. That's the point.
[10:32] Speaker 3: Okay, okay, all right.
[10:35] Speaker 1: Do you guys have any books on that.
[10:39] Speaker 4: So you can answer people that have questions about it.
[10:42] Speaker 2: Yeah, We've got all kinds of literature available on that.
[10:45] Speaker 2: I've written a book on this called The Face that
[10:47] Speaker 2: demonstrates the Farce of Evolution. There's a monograph form of
[10:51] Speaker 2: that as well, called Fatal Flaws. In terms of reading
[10:56] Speaker 2: the Bible for all it's worth, there's a flip chart
[10:58] Speaker 2: that I put together called Lights and Your Path to
[11:01] Speaker 2: reading the Bible for all It's worth, I think would
[11:03] Speaker 2: be helpful to you as well. All of that is
[11:05] Speaker 2: found on thewebitequipped dot org.
[11:08] Speaker 4: Okay, Thank you very much, Thanks, Hey.
[11:10] Speaker 2: You got it. Thank you so much for your colte.

[12:06] Speaker 5: from his long defensive truth to his discovery that life
[12:09] Speaker 5: matters more. Essentially, two books in one. Part one equips
[12:13] Speaker 5: Christians to defend the essential truths of the historic Christian faith.
[12:17] Speaker 5: Part two explains why truth is necessary but hardly sufficient.
[12:22] Speaker 5: That the map is not the territory, the menu is
[12:24] Speaker 5: not the meal. We are created to experience life to
[12:28] Speaker 5: the full through union with God in Christ. Is there
[12:31] Speaker 5: more to the Christian life than what you are experiencing.
[12:34] Speaker 5: Truth Matters, Life matters More unveils the unexpected beauty of

[14:05] Speaker 1: God Spoken? Are the words of Scripture merely human in origin?
[14:10] Speaker 1: Or are they, in fact the very words of God himself?
[14:15] Speaker 1: Three years in the making and based on two decades
[14:18] Speaker 1: of research and reflection, Hank Henagraph's monumental book Has God
[14:23] Speaker 1: Spoken answers what is surely the most important question facing
[14:26] Speaker 1: our world. In Has God Spoken? Memorable proofs of the
[14:30] Speaker 1: Bible's Divine inspiration, Hank counters the contentions of the Bible
[14:34] Speaker 1: attackers and clearly shows that belief in the Holy Scriptures
[14:38] Speaker 1: is not a guess or wishful thinking. It is the
[14:41] Speaker 1: only logical conclusion after an honest examination of overwhelming evidence.

[15:09] Speaker 2: Thank you Brandian. Let's go back to the phone lines.
[15:12] Speaker 2: Doctor Ellwood next in Kansas, Hey Elwood?
[15:16] Speaker 5: Hi?
[15:16] Speaker 3: Thank How are you Don good? How are you fine?
[15:20] Speaker 3: Thank you? Okay. I'm still in the King James version,
[15:25] Speaker 3: in part because it's still my favorite version. Isaiah seven
[15:28] Speaker 3: fourteen says Therefore, the Lord himself shall give you a sign. Behold,
[15:34] Speaker 3: a virgin shall conceive and Bearisan, and shall call his
[15:38] Speaker 3: name Emmanuel. And has that ever been that prophecy ever
[15:42] Speaker 3: been fulfilled?
[15:44] Speaker 2: Yeah, the prophecy was fulfilled in Isaiah chapter eight, first
[15:48] Speaker 2: of all, but it's ultimately fulfilled in our Lord and Savior,
[15:52] Speaker 2: Jesus Christ. This is an example of what's called typological prophecy,
[15:58] Speaker 2: which is different from predictive prophecy. Predictive prophecies are straightforward prophecies,
[16:04] Speaker 2: such as what you find in Micah chapter five, where
[16:07] Speaker 2: Jesus is prophesied to be born in Bethlehem Ephreta, and
[16:12] Speaker 2: that is fulfilled in a direct predictive way, so it's
[16:17] Speaker 2: the fulfillment of predictive prophecy. This, however, is called typological prophecy,
[16:23] Speaker 2: first fulfilled in Isaiah chapter eight and typologically fulfilled in
[16:30] Speaker 2: Jesus Christ. And this is one of those incredible features
[16:35] Speaker 2: of the book that I wrote. Has God Spoken? One
[16:38] Speaker 2: of the chapters is on typological prophecy, And what I
[16:42] Speaker 2: do is I talk about this conversation which goes on
[16:47] Speaker 2: between Matt, who's a new Christian and he's zealous for
[16:50] Speaker 2: the things of God, and he finds a book on
[16:53] Speaker 2: evidences and begins memorizing a list of prophecies made in
[16:57] Speaker 2: the Old Testament fulfilled in the New and his favorite
[16:59] Speaker 2: is this prophecy, the virgin birth prophecy of Isaiah seven fourteen.
[17:05] Speaker 2: And he thought, if ever there was a clear cut
[17:08] Speaker 2: case of fulfilled prophecy, that was it. But he doesn't
[17:12] Speaker 2: recognize the difference between predictive prophecy and typological prophecy. So
[17:17] Speaker 2: when he goes to his coworker and starts to talk
[17:19] Speaker 2: about it, he immediately gets into a ringer, and he
[17:23] Speaker 2: doesn't know how to extract himself. And the story starts
[17:26] Speaker 2: to then explain the difference between typological prophecy and predictive prophecy,
[17:32] Speaker 2: and if we don't understand the difference, the conundrum that
[17:37] Speaker 2: that causes. It doesn't end up helping us to share
[17:41] Speaker 2: our faith, but ends up making our faith look weak
[17:45] Speaker 2: and powerless. So again that's laid down in my book.
[17:48] Speaker 2: Has God spoken back to our phone callers? Next up
[17:52] Speaker 2: is Tiffany. She's listening in Saint Louis, Missouri.
[17:56] Speaker 4: Hi, Tiffany, Hi, nice to talk for you.
[17:59] Speaker 2: It's nice to talk to you.
[18:00] Speaker 4: My question is Okay. I have a friend that tells
[18:03] Speaker 4: me that Jesus was not born of a virgin birth,
[18:07] Speaker 4: that virgin in Hebrew only means young girl, and that
[18:12] Speaker 4: when Mary became pregnant, she was actually pregnant by Joseph
[18:17] Speaker 4: and he hid her because what they did was wrong.
[18:21] Speaker 4: And I'm trying to find out exactly, you know, across
[18:26] Speaker 4: from my understanding and from when I read, I see
[18:30] Speaker 4: that Jesus was actually born a virgin birth. I mean that,
[18:33] Speaker 4: And I don't understand how come somebody can, you know,
[18:37] Speaker 4: come up with another story when they read it. And
[18:40] Speaker 4: another thing I have to say is that I go
[18:42] Speaker 4: to church on a Sunday, and this person says that
[18:46] Speaker 4: when I go to church on Sundays, I'm worshiping a
[18:50] Speaker 4: son God and not actual the God of the Bible,
[18:53] Speaker 4: and that his name really isn't Jesus, and so on
[18:56] Speaker 4: and so forth. And I want to know, well, you're
[19:00] Speaker 4: take on it? You know? What do I say or
[19:03] Speaker 4: do I even say anything?
[19:05] Speaker 2: Yes, I mean we want to use all these as
[19:07] Speaker 2: opportunities to reach, as opposed to repel. Every opportunity becomes
[19:13] Speaker 2: an opportunity to be equipped for evangelism. I've often said
[19:18] Speaker 2: that the issue is never evangelism, but equipping for evangelism.
[19:22] Speaker 2: So you're asked these kinds of questions, and what does
[19:25] Speaker 2: it do? It drives you into learning, and as you learn,
[19:28] Speaker 2: you can use your will reason to answer as an
[19:30] Speaker 2: opportunity or a springboard to share the truth and the
[19:35] Speaker 2: love and the life that Jesus Christ can bring to
[19:38] Speaker 2: another human heart by which that human heart can be
[19:42] Speaker 2: transformed so that that person can experience what you are
[19:46] Speaker 2: now experiencing life, that is life. Indeed, as far as
[19:52] Speaker 2: the actual questions are concerned, let's look at this. Jesus
[19:57] Speaker 2: Christ is born of a virgin. The text tells us that,
[20:02] Speaker 2: in fact, the Isaiah seven fourteen passage is typologically fulfilled
[20:09] Speaker 2: in Jesus Christ. So we see that while Isaiah's wife
[20:15] Speaker 2: was in fact a young woman with child, Jesus Christ
[20:21] Speaker 2: was born of a virgin. So you see escalation and
[20:27] Speaker 2: heightening in the fulfillment of the prophecy in Jesus Christ,
[20:31] Speaker 2: and the text actually telling us that Jesus Christ was
[20:36] Speaker 2: born of a virgin. But think of the alternative. The
[20:40] Speaker 2: alternative is that Mary is a sexually promiscuous young girl,
[20:46] Speaker 2: and that Jesus Christ is an illegitimate child. This is
[20:53] Speaker 2: not peripheral or secondary. This is essential. Now, what causes
[21:00] Speaker 2: people to say Jesus was not born of a virgin
[21:05] Speaker 2: is that they are closed to the possibility of a
[21:09] Speaker 2: universe in which supernatural things happen. But as a Christian,
[21:15] Speaker 2: we are not closed minded on this issue at all.
[21:17] Speaker 2: We open mindedly conceive of the possibility that Jesus could
[21:23] Speaker 2: be born of a virgin because God spoke in the universe,
[21:29] Speaker 2: leapt into existence, because God can do all things that
[21:36] Speaker 2: are logically possible, which is to say, obviously God cannot
[21:40] Speaker 2: create a squared circle because squared circles don't exist. That's
[21:45] Speaker 2: not logically possible. But can God allow Jesus to be
[21:49] Speaker 2: born of a virgin? Yes, he could. In fact he did.
[21:54] Speaker 2: And the reason we believe that is not only because
[21:57] Speaker 2: we believe in the supernatural, but also because we believe
[22:01] Speaker 2: the Bible is the infallible repository of redemptive revelation. Again,
[22:06] Speaker 2: not something that is believed through blind faith, but rather
[22:12] Speaker 2: through faith in evidence.
[22:15] Speaker 4: Now I go to church on a Sunday, am I
[22:17] Speaker 4: this person seems to think I'm worshiping a sun God
[22:20] Speaker 4: and not the actual God of the Bible, because they
[22:24] Speaker 4: do everything on a Saturday, which they say that's today
[22:27] Speaker 4: you're supposed to keep well.
[22:29] Speaker 2: Not so. And again the point of scripture is always
[22:32] Speaker 2: a cycle of six days that you work and one
[22:36] Speaker 2: day that you rest. And the rest is emblematic of
[22:40] Speaker 2: the rest that we have in Jesus Christ, who, through
[22:45] Speaker 2: his resurrection ensures eternal life. So the Christian Church changed
[22:52] Speaker 2: the day of worship to Sunday because we are celebrating
[22:58] Speaker 2: the resurrection of our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, in
[23:03] Speaker 2: whom we have our Sabbath rest. So the psychle continues,
[23:09] Speaker 2: and the day is emblematic of the rest we have
[23:14] Speaker 2: in Jesus Christ. So we obey that commandment. And when
[23:18] Speaker 2: we get together, we're not worshiping a sun god, as
[23:21] Speaker 2: though the sun rises in the east and sets in
[23:24] Speaker 2: the west. No, we are celebrating the resurrection, the rising
[23:30] Speaker 2: of Jesus Christ from the dead.
[23:32] Speaker 4: Okay, and I have one more question, yeap over in
[23:36] Speaker 4: Mark eleven. This really confuses me. When Jesus cursed the
[23:41] Speaker 4: fig tree, could you explain to me why he cursed
[23:44] Speaker 4: the fig tree. I'm just trying to figure out. I mean,
[23:47] Speaker 4: they say it in the Bible that it was not
[23:49] Speaker 4: its time to produce, So why did he curse the
[23:53] Speaker 4: fig tree?
[23:54] Speaker 2: Yeah, And these kinds of questions are often raised as
[23:58] Speaker 2: though in some way or other, Jesus Christ the Bible
[24:03] Speaker 2: is irrational, irrelevant, or is simply communicating things which don't
[24:10] Speaker 2: have a correspondence to reality. But actually, what is going
[24:15] Speaker 2: on does correspond to reality, because what's going on here
[24:21] Speaker 2: is in the morning, as the disciples went along, they
[24:24] Speaker 2: saw the fig tree withered from the roots. And then
[24:28] Speaker 2: Peter remembers and says to Jesus, Rabbi, look, the fig
[24:33] Speaker 2: tree you cursed has withered. Well, that has real significance.
[24:39] Speaker 2: The significance is seen in a lot of different ways.
[24:44] Speaker 2: A couple of things that you see here is that
[24:49] Speaker 2: the fig tree was emblematic of something. It was not
[24:54] Speaker 2: the season for figs, thus it was also not the
[24:58] Speaker 2: time for fig leaves. Jesus is using the fig tree
[25:03] Speaker 2: as an objective lesson for God's judgment, which surely will
[25:10] Speaker 2: come to those who have an appearance of fruitfulness but
[25:17] Speaker 2: do not have the inward reality of fruitfulness. So this
[25:22] Speaker 2: is an example of God using physical realities to point
[25:26] Speaker 2: to spiritual truth. So it's not random, it's not capricious,
[25:30] Speaker 2: it's not without meaning. It has significant, powerful, poignant meaning.
