[0:41] Speaker 1: That's equip dot org. The following program was pre recorded
[0:47] Speaker 1: and now here's Hank Canigraph.
[0:49] Speaker 2: Thank you very much, Randy. We'll go right to the
[0:51] Speaker 2: phone lines. Edmund, he's listening on the web in California.
[0:56] Speaker 2: Hi Edmund, Hey Hank, or were you good? How are
[0:59] Speaker 2: you good?
[1:00] Speaker 3: Good?
[1:01] Speaker 4: My question was, my wife went to a Bible study
[1:04] Speaker 4: last Friday and they asked for pray request and she,
[1:08] Speaker 4: you know, she told about her cousin I was dying
[1:09] Speaker 4: some cancer and he's Roman Catholic. H This lady said
[1:14] Speaker 4: that she had a word of knowledge for my wife
[1:17] Speaker 4: that if you were to go over there, you know,
[1:19] Speaker 4: preach the Gospel to them that he would be saved
[1:23] Speaker 4: and his cancer would be gone. Now I'm listening for you,
[1:27] Speaker 4: so you know, so I'm actually you know, I don't
[1:30] Speaker 4: really believe that, but I just kind of wanted to
[1:31] Speaker 4: get an answer from you as too. You know why
[1:34] Speaker 4: it's on biblical.
[1:35] Speaker 2: Or well, the reason it's unbiblical is because it's a
[1:39] Speaker 2: misapprehension of what the Word of knowledge is. The Word
[1:44] Speaker 2: of knowledge is special insight into the Word of God,
[1:49] Speaker 2: as well as special discernment concerning people and circumstances. What
[1:55] Speaker 2: the Word of Knowledge is not is the ability to
[1:59] Speaker 2: predict what is going to happen in the future as
[2:03] Speaker 2: a direct result of God speaking this information into your heart.
[2:08] Speaker 2: That's not what word of knowledge cannote. So it is
[2:11] Speaker 2: a very clear example of taking something out of context
[2:16] Speaker 2: and using it as a pretext for something that we
[2:20] Speaker 2: hope would happen. But certainly we cannot say with certainty
[2:24] Speaker 2: that this is the future of this individual. And the
[2:28] Speaker 2: problem here is that it misleads people such that if
[2:32] Speaker 2: the Word of knowledge doesn't come to pass, well, what
[2:36] Speaker 2: do you immediately suppose God must have been wrong? Because
[2:41] Speaker 2: God communicated this and it didn't happen.
[2:44] Speaker 4: Yeah, so they blame God obviously, not themselves. Yeah, so
[2:48] Speaker 4: God's not the liar because they got this word of
[2:50] Speaker 4: knowledge from God.
[2:51] Speaker 2: No, well they think they did, but the reality is
[2:54] Speaker 2: that's not what a word of knowledge is, and therefore
[2:57] Speaker 2: they did not get this word of knowledge from God.
[3:00] Speaker 4: There was another lady there that I guess. She said
[3:03] Speaker 4: she got some pain going on her right side or
[3:05] Speaker 4: her left side, and she told my wife there's no
[3:07] Speaker 4: way for her knowing that. So how does that work?
[3:10] Speaker 4: I mean, can they be right a little bit of
[3:12] Speaker 4: the time or are they always longer?
[3:14] Speaker 2: Well, I can't deal with the anecdote. All I can
[3:17] Speaker 2: say is that this is a common thing that people
[3:21] Speaker 2: attribute to the word of knowledge. You have televangelists all
[3:24] Speaker 2: the time. I remember Pat Robertson, you know, looking at
[3:27] Speaker 2: a television camera and saying, there's a one with a
[3:29] Speaker 2: red dress and God is healing a pain going down
[3:32] Speaker 2: her leg or a pain in her back or whatever. Well,
[3:35] Speaker 2: there are going to be a lot of people that
[3:36] Speaker 2: are going to say, oh, my goodness, that's me. How
[3:38] Speaker 2: did he know I'm wearing a red dress and I
[3:40] Speaker 2: have a pain in my back? You know? But given
[3:42] Speaker 2: his vast television audience. One would imagine that there is
[3:45] Speaker 2: someone there with a red dress that this would apply to,
[3:48] Speaker 2: and even if the dress isn't quite read, a person
[3:51] Speaker 2: was going to take this and apply to themselves. This
[3:54] Speaker 2: is not to say that God cannot heal, but it's
[3:57] Speaker 2: simply to say that this is not what a word
[4:00] Speaker 2: of knowledge is.
[4:02] Speaker 4: Yeah, how would you approach this person? I mean, I'm saying,
[4:05] Speaker 4: if you.
[4:05] Speaker 2: See them again, well, I would try to explain to
[4:08] Speaker 2: them with gentleness and with respect what the Bible means
[4:11] Speaker 2: by word of knowledge and how what they're pouring into
[4:15] Speaker 2: that phrase is simply wrong and not only wrong, but
[4:20] Speaker 2: dangerous to communicate because when it doesn't come to pass,
[4:24] Speaker 2: which is very likely, then what's going to happen is
[4:28] Speaker 2: people are going to doubt God and doubt the word
[4:30] Speaker 2: of God because they thought this was a word from God.
[4:35] Speaker 3: Wow.
[4:36] Speaker 4: All right, thank you so much.
[4:37] Speaker 2: God, bless you, my friend. Let's go back to the
[4:39] Speaker 2: phone lines. We'll talk next to Wyatt listening in Bakersfield, California. Hi, Wyatt, Hey,
[4:47] Speaker 2: I was just.
[4:47] Speaker 5: Wanting to know when king they did during his reign?
[4:50] Speaker 3: Was he the chief priest his kingdom?
[4:55] Speaker 2: No, he was actually the king who who made the
[5:00] Speaker 2: leap from being a shepherd to being a king in
[5:04] Speaker 2: a very short period of time. So he was the
[5:06] Speaker 2: king of Israel. Now in addition to be a king,
[5:11] Speaker 2: he was also a prophet. So you find that many
[5:15] Speaker 2: of the prophecies that he spoke as he was carried
[5:18] Speaker 2: along by the Holy Spirit are fulfilled in the New Testament.
[5:23] Speaker 2: But David was never the chief priest. He was a prophet,
[5:27] Speaker 2: and he was a king, but never the chief priest.
[5:31] Speaker 2: He was a priest in a sense. And I suppose
[5:34] Speaker 2: we can all say where priests in this sense. Peter
[5:38] Speaker 2: today calls us a priesthood of all believers. In fact
[5:43] Speaker 2: uses the very language that was once relegated to the
[5:47] Speaker 2: Old Testament saints, and he now applies it to the
[5:52] Speaker 2: New Testament Church. But David was not from the tribe
[5:57] Speaker 2: of Levi. He was from the tribe of Judah through
[6:01] Speaker 2: his father Jesse. Therefore was not of the levitical priesthood.
[6:06] Speaker 4: Okay, thanks, you got it.
[6:08] Speaker 2: Thank you for your call. I want to go back
[6:10] Speaker 2: to the phone lines. Talk to James. He's listening on Cleveland, Ohio. Hi, James, Hey,
[6:14] Speaker 2: how are you doing.
[6:15] Speaker 5: Hey?
[6:15] Speaker 2: Good her?
[6:15] Speaker 4: You Hi, Yeah, I'm doing good.
[6:18] Speaker 3: I was wondering if you may, by any chance ever
[6:22] Speaker 3: heard of a gentleman by her name was Terry Watkins.
[6:26] Speaker 2: No, that's one lost on me.
[6:28] Speaker 3: He wrote a pamphlet that I've just looked at online today.
[6:33] Speaker 3: And if he called the New International Version the New
[6:36] Speaker 3: International per version, ain't said that version of the Bible
[6:40] Speaker 3: was of the devil and Kristen shouldn't read it. And
[6:43] Speaker 3: I wanted to know what is your take? What do
[6:45] Speaker 3: you think of the New International Version.
[6:48] Speaker 2: Well, I've been memorizing out of the New International Version
[6:51] Speaker 2: for a long long time, and I've been studying the
[6:54] Speaker 2: New International Version. I like that version a lot. Yeah,
[6:57] Speaker 2: it takes into account the best manuscript evidence that is
[7:00] Speaker 2: extant today as of the new King James version of
[7:04] Speaker 2: the Bible, as do many other modern translations like the NASB.
[7:09] Speaker 2: The problem with people like this is they typically are
[7:13] Speaker 2: King James version only, and they think that the King
[7:15] Speaker 2: James version is anotographer hought off the plates down from
[7:19] Speaker 2: Mount Sinai, and therefore we have to test everything by
[7:22] Speaker 2: the King James version of the Bible. But that simply
[7:24] Speaker 2: is not the case. The King James version of the
[7:27] Speaker 2: Bible is a good translation, but it is a translation
[7:31] Speaker 2: that does not take into account the best manuscript evidence
[7:35] Speaker 2: that is available today, nor does it take into account
[7:39] Speaker 2: advancements in the understanding of the Biblical languages. And therefore,
[7:45] Speaker 2: while we honor the King James version, quite frankly, there
[7:49] Speaker 2: are better versions out there. And the truth of the
[7:52] Speaker 2: matter is the New International Version is a very good
[7:56] Speaker 2: translation of the Bible. It's not a formal equivalency. It's
[8:00] Speaker 2: what's called a dynamic equivalency, which essentially means this that
[8:04] Speaker 2: it's a thought for thought rather than a word for
[8:06] Speaker 2: word translation. Now, if you're Dutch like I am, or
[8:10] Speaker 2: someone who comes from another country, you immediately recognize the
[8:14] Speaker 2: benefit of a thought for thought translation because it's much
[8:18] Speaker 2: more accurate in many cases to give a thought for
[8:22] Speaker 2: thought translation from a language to a receptor language than
[8:27] Speaker 2: a word for word translation.
[8:30] Speaker 3: Okay. And he also said that in Isaiah fourteen, where
[8:36] Speaker 3: they called he said that the NIV they shouldn't call
[8:40] Speaker 3: Satan the mourning star, because Jesus is called the More
[8:45] Speaker 3: and is star in revelation. And I big the way
[8:49] Speaker 3: he put that was he said in Isaiah, the New
[8:52] Speaker 3: and the National Version is calling Lucif for the mourning star.
[8:57] Speaker 2: Yeah, well, the term Lucifer comes not from the original Hebrew,
[9:01] Speaker 2: but rather from the translation of Jerum's Vulgate another word
[9:06] Speaker 2: shining one morning star or star of the morning, and
[9:11] Speaker 2: all are acceptable translations of the Hebrew text. And how
[9:16] Speaker 2: someone could confuse Jesus with Lucifer here is almost beyond
[9:20] Speaker 2: my comprehension. The point in context is that Satan was
[9:26] Speaker 2: trying to usurp the power of God and make himself
[9:30] Speaker 2: like unto the Almighty. So this is hardly a reason
[9:37] Speaker 2: to say that the New International Version is a perversion.
[9:41] Speaker 2: And you know this is not the only way that
[9:43] Speaker 2: people do this. I've heard the same sorts of arguments
[9:48] Speaker 2: from people with respect to Titus two thirteen.
[9:52] Speaker 3: Okay, he used.
[9:53] Speaker 2: That one also, Yeah, I mean that's a typical one
[9:56] Speaker 2: that they use. And the KJVI it says and the
[9:59] Speaker 2: glory glorious appearing of the Great God and our Savior
[10:04] Speaker 2: Jesus Christ. Well there's a problem with that interpretation, and
[10:09] Speaker 2: the NIV translates it correctly and eliminates the problem. The
[10:14] Speaker 2: correct translation is appearing of our Great God and Savior
[10:19] Speaker 2: Jesus Christ, which underscores the deity of Jesus Christ, and
[10:24] Speaker 2: the reason that the kjav incorrectly translates this passage, as
[10:30] Speaker 2: pointed out by Greek scholars, is due to the influence
[10:33] Speaker 2: of a man who was an anti Trinitarian, who admitted
[10:37] Speaker 2: that it was his theological interpretation that led to the
[10:40] Speaker 2: bias in the translation. It certainly wasn't the grammar of
[10:44] Speaker 2: the text. So look, this is an unfortunate example of
[10:49] Speaker 2: someone who is speaking beyond their own knowledge and hasn't
[10:53] Speaker 2: really checked this out. And I'm glad you have taken
[10:56] Speaker 2: the trouble to do this. Because internet lies travel halfway
[10:59] Speaker 2: around the world before truth has had the chance to
[11:01] Speaker 2: put its boots on.
[11:02] Speaker 3: We'll be right back.
[11:03] Speaker 1: The famous British apologist GK. Chesterton once noted, the true
[11:08] Speaker 1: soldier fights not because he hates what is in front
[11:11] Speaker 1: of him, but because he loves what is behind him.
[11:13] Speaker 1: Because at CRII we love what is behind us, our faith,
[11:17] Speaker 1: our families, and our freedoms. We will never retreat quietly
[11:21] Speaker 1: from the growing assaults on life and truth, even when

[12:07] Speaker 1: Are the words of Scripture merely human in origin? Or
[12:10] Speaker 1: are they, in fact the very words of God himself.
[12:15] Speaker 1: Three years in the making and based on two decades
[12:18] Speaker 1: of research and reflection, Hank Henagraph's monumental book Has God
[12:23] Speaker 1: Spoken answers what is surely the most important question facing
[12:27] Speaker 1: our world. In Has God Spoken? Memorable proofs of the
[12:31] Speaker 1: Bible's Divine inspiration, Hank counters the contentions of the Bible
[12:35] Speaker 1: attackers and clearly shows that belief in the Holy Scriptures
[12:38] Speaker 1: is not a guess or wishful thinking. It is the
[12:41] Speaker 1: only logical conclusion after an honest examination of overwhelming evidence.

[15:08] Speaker 1: answer Man broadcast and your host and canagraph.
[15:12] Speaker 2: Thank you so much, Randy, and right back to our
[15:14] Speaker 2: phone callers. Next up is Helen listening on the web
[15:16] Speaker 2: in Lithonia, Georgia.
[15:18] Speaker 5: Hi, Helen, Hi.
[15:20] Speaker 6: My question is when I'm doing premarital counseling, I know
[15:25] Speaker 6: that the Bible says that to be cohabitating before marriage
[15:31] Speaker 6: is wrong, and the couples that normally come to me
[15:35] Speaker 6: for premarital counseling are already living together at the beginning
[15:39] Speaker 6: of the counseling. Should I say, Hey, you guys, let's
[15:43] Speaker 6: go through the scriptures and look at this and tell
[15:46] Speaker 6: them then that it's wrong. Or should I, because they're
[15:49] Speaker 6: raised in the church, should I just assume that they
[15:52] Speaker 6: know that and just go on with the other aspects
[15:54] Speaker 6: of premarital counseling.
[15:56] Speaker 2: Well, it really depends on the circumstance, doesn't it, Helen.
[15:59] Speaker 2: I mean, there are a lot lot of people who
[16:01] Speaker 2: go to churches that don't really think that the Bible
[16:05] Speaker 2: is the infallible repository for faith and practice. They have
[16:09] Speaker 2: come to the conclusion that the Bible's a bit outdated
[16:12] Speaker 2: on certain things like same sex sexuality, or premarital sex,
[16:18] Speaker 2: or cohabitating before you're married, and so forth. So as
[16:22] Speaker 2: a result of that, they don't take what the Bible
[16:24] Speaker 2: says as serious. So in that case, what you have
[16:26] Speaker 2: to do is establish that the Bible is divine as
[16:29] Speaker 2: opposed to merely human in origin. So now it's not
[16:32] Speaker 2: just your opinion or the Bible says. But there's a
[16:35] Speaker 2: reason why we have to take seriously what the Bible says.
[16:39] Speaker 2: It's the north star by which we can set our
[16:43] Speaker 2: life in all aspects. So I think there are situations
[16:48] Speaker 2: where you have to demonstrate that the Bible is divine
[16:50] Speaker 2: as opposed to merely human in origin in other situations.
[16:53] Speaker 2: If someone already accepts that, then you simply say, look,
[16:56] Speaker 2: the Bible puts parameters around our life, not because God
[17:00] Speaker 2: is a cosmic kill joy, but God rather wants us
[17:04] Speaker 2: to have the greatest possible pleasure and the greatest possible
[17:12] Speaker 2: extent of relationship on a human level as well as
[17:17] Speaker 2: on a vertical level between ourselves and God. So he
[17:21] Speaker 2: establishes those borders around our lives so that our joy
[17:25] Speaker 2: might be complete. What happens when people start having premarital
[17:29] Speaker 2: sex or living together is women can very easily, and
[17:34] Speaker 2: I'm looking at it from the perspective of a man,
[17:37] Speaker 2: a woman can very easily be used up. And one
[17:40] Speaker 2: of the great things that elevated women in Western society
[17:45] Speaker 2: is that a man had to make a commitment to
[17:48] Speaker 2: a woman. He couldn't use a woman, but a man
[17:51] Speaker 2: biblically had to make a commitment to a woman, and
[17:55] Speaker 2: once that commitment was made, he had to honor her
[17:57] Speaker 2: and cherish her and love her in all sorts circumstances.
[18:01] Speaker 6: This couple would say that they have made a commitment
[18:04] Speaker 6: to each other, that they you know, both of them
[18:07] Speaker 6: are raising the church it's nonsense.
[18:09] Speaker 2: I mean, it's nonsense. I mean, look, the reality is,
[18:11] Speaker 2: if you're not married, you can walk away from that
[18:13] Speaker 2: relationship very easily.
[18:15] Speaker 6: I hear you. Yeah, but I'm saying, if I present
[18:19] Speaker 6: it in that way, he'll say, well, I am committed
[18:21] Speaker 6: to her, So then my response would be, well, then
[18:26] Speaker 6: you know, then you would be willing to follow the.
[18:28] Speaker 2: Scripture, right, yeah, exactly. I mean, this is the thing
[18:32] Speaker 2: is so easy. What is commitment? Look at the people
[18:35] Speaker 2: that get married today. You probably know this better than anybody, Helen.
[18:38] Speaker 2: People get married and in a little while, all of
[18:41] Speaker 2: a sudden, their wife doesn't please them perfectly, and they're
[18:44] Speaker 2: looking for the grass that's greeting on the other side
[18:46] Speaker 2: of the fence. So they're demonstrating even though they said
[18:50] Speaker 2: I am committed in sickness and health, for better or
[18:54] Speaker 2: for worse, until death to us part, they really didn't
[18:57] Speaker 2: mean it, because as soon as the going gets it's tough,
[19:00] Speaker 2: they're trying to leave the relationship. What is commitment? Commitment
[19:04] Speaker 2: has to be the foundation of a marriage. But the
[19:06] Speaker 2: problem is that Christians by and large have bought into
[19:10] Speaker 2: the cultural norm that love is merely a feeling. Love
[19:13] Speaker 2: is not a feeling. Love is a commitment. The feeling
[19:16] Speaker 2: emanates as a result of the commitment. But if feelings
[19:19] Speaker 2: are the basis of your marriage, well you can be
[19:23] Speaker 2: committed today and gone tomorrow.
[19:25] Speaker 6: Well, you know, Hank, I'm so tired of every couple
[19:28] Speaker 6: that comes to me, you know, to baptize a baby
[19:32] Speaker 6: or to get married. They're already cohabitating. And then I think,
[19:36] Speaker 6: if you are really committed as a Christian, then your
[19:39] Speaker 6: commitment is to Christ first.
[19:41] Speaker 2: Yes, Well, then if your.
[19:42] Speaker 6: Commitment is to Christ first, and then we can't because
[19:45] Speaker 6: we all make mistakes and we all do selfish things,
[19:48] Speaker 6: then I guess I could say to them, let's go
[19:51] Speaker 6: back to the beginning and see where this relationship should
[19:55] Speaker 6: be in light of God's word. And if it isn't there,
[19:58] Speaker 6: you know, I'm almost at point where I don't want
[20:01] Speaker 6: to perform the ceremony, you know, I don't want to
[20:04] Speaker 6: do it because I feel culpable.
[20:07] Speaker 2: Well, I'm glad you feel that way, and I think
[20:09] Speaker 2: that certainly in the Christian Church we have to get
[20:12] Speaker 2: back to the bedrock of what makes a marriage a marriage,
[20:15] Speaker 2: and what makes commitment the bedrock of that marriage, Because
[20:20] Speaker 2: once we buy in the cultural norm, we end up
[20:23] Speaker 2: having the destruction of the family, and that's precisely what
[20:26] Speaker 2: we see in our culture. And again, so often, even
[20:30] Speaker 2: marriage doesn't mean commitment in the truest sense of the word,
[20:35] Speaker 2: because people are constantly moving out of the marriage because
[20:38] Speaker 2: it's getting tough, and they don't realize that God uses
[20:41] Speaker 2: those tough times to wear the rough edges off one another.
[20:45] Speaker 2: And just as the process begins, we circumvent the process
[20:48] Speaker 2: and we end up taking the same problems in another relationship.
[20:53] Speaker 6: Well, thank you very much. I appreciate it. I appreciate
[20:55] Speaker 6: the show. I try to listen as often as I can.
[20:58] Speaker 2: Bless you, Helen. Thank you very much for your counseling work.
[21:00] Speaker 2: Want to go back to the phone lines. We'll talk
[21:02] Speaker 2: to Montes listening on Saint Louis, Missouri. Hi, Montese, are good.
[21:08] Speaker 2: Thank you good.
[21:09] Speaker 7: Thank you for your program and the love that you
[21:12] Speaker 7: have for both our creator Jehovah is done Jesus as
[21:16] Speaker 7: well as the people of God. I want to know
[21:20] Speaker 7: about mister John Coleman. He wrote the book A Committee
[21:25] Speaker 7: of three hundred, and in that Bookie he speaks of this,
[21:29] Speaker 7: I guess committee of three hundred who are in essence
[21:35] Speaker 7: controlling every aspect of life and things that nature and
[21:40] Speaker 7: have a doomsday plan for the people of this world.
[21:43] Speaker 2: Well, I know about this conspiracy theory, which is very
[21:46] Speaker 2: much like the Illuminati. Conspiracy theories has no basis in
[21:50] Speaker 2: reality whatsoever, and unfortunately, because it's very difficult to take
[21:56] Speaker 2: conspiracy theory and falsify it, people buy into it uncritically.
[22:00] Speaker 2: I actually wrote about these kinds of conspiracy theories in
[22:03] Speaker 2: the book The Covering God's Plan to protect you from evil,
[22:07] Speaker 2: and it is the kind of thing that we want
[22:10] Speaker 2: to avoid. We are not sensationalists as Christians, and once
[22:14] Speaker 2: we get into selling in sensationalism, we end up losing
[22:19] Speaker 2: our witness in the world. We start looking like those
[22:24] Speaker 2: who are easily led and are believing that these are
[22:27] Speaker 2: the end times. We know that they're in the end times,
[22:30] Speaker 2: and that we are soon going to have a one
[22:32] Speaker 2: world government with a one world currency. There's no way
[22:36] Speaker 2: we can know those kinds of things, and certainly they're
[22:38] Speaker 2: not predicted in the Word of God. So the people
[22:41] Speaker 2: that are kind of writing this especialist books saying that look,
[22:45] Speaker 2: all the pieces are starting to coalesce and we are
[22:49] Speaker 2: soon going to move into this one world government, one
[22:52] Speaker 2: world currency baloney. It's sheer nonsense based on conspiracy paradigms
[23:01] Speaker 2: that unfortunately, as I said, too many Christians are buying into.
[23:05] Speaker 7: Okay, well, thank you very much, sir, I pray the
[23:08] Speaker 7: guy will continue to bless you in your family.
[23:10] Speaker 2: Well, thank you very much for those kind words. And
[23:13] Speaker 2: you know, this is something that again I wrote about
[23:15] Speaker 2: in the book the Covering, this idea that there's a
[23:18] Speaker 2: carefully crafted cartel encompassing policemen and politicians and pastors who
[23:26] Speaker 2: are secretly engaged in subterfuge to advance their Satanic agenda.
[23:31] Speaker 2: This is an agenda that has moved Satanism in the
[23:34] Speaker 2: very halls of power as well as the sanctuaries of churches.
[23:37] Speaker 2: And this of course relates to the Illuminati. And now
[23:40] Speaker 2: we have a conspiracy theory that's even greater than that.
[23:43] Speaker 2: And you know, on and on it goes. This is nonsense.
[23:45] Speaker 2: Let's get to the point where we learn to read
[23:49] Speaker 2: the Bible for all its worth, as opposed to buying
[23:53] Speaker 2: into conspiracy theories, learn how to exercise the very disciplines
[23:58] Speaker 2: that Jesus Christ modeled during his earthly sojourn. Want to
[24:01] Speaker 2: go back to the phone lines, talk to Eric Saint Louis, Missouri. Hi, Eric, Hi,
[24:06] Speaker 2: how's it going good?
[24:07] Speaker 1: Yeah?
[24:08] Speaker 5: Just I appreciate your comment earlier on you defining a
[24:13] Speaker 5: word of knowledge, and just wanted to get your opinion
[24:16] Speaker 5: on really what would be the Biblical way to define
[24:19] Speaker 5: maybe a prophecy or a prophetic word kind of in
[24:22] Speaker 5: contrast to a word of knowledge.
[24:25] Speaker 2: Yeah, well, prophecy, what is that? Actually? Is prophecy for
[24:31] Speaker 2: telling the future? Is it forthtelling the future? Difference between
[24:35] Speaker 2: foretelling and forthtelling? Which is it? Certainly, from a Biblical perspective,
[24:40] Speaker 2: there are prophecies, and those prophecies are fulfilled, and we
[24:42] Speaker 2: can use those prophecies as a means by which to
[24:46] Speaker 2: demonstrate that the Bible's divine as opposed to merely human
[24:49] Speaker 2: and origin. But the kind of prophecy that the apostle
[24:53] Speaker 2: Paul talks about in First Corinthians chapter fourteen is not
[24:57] Speaker 2: for telling the future. That's not what it really is
[25:02] Speaker 2: is strengthening, encouraging, comforting people, as we see in verse
[25:07] Speaker 2: three First Cristian chapter fourteen. And so everyone should weigh
[25:12] Speaker 2: carefully what is said by a prophet in terms of
[25:16] Speaker 2: encouraging and strengthening, comforting people, because we have to test
[25:22] Speaker 2: even that in light of the whole repository scripture and
[25:27] Speaker 2: then hold fast to that which is good. But the
[25:30] Speaker 2: basic idea of prophecy is not fore telling, but rather
[25:36] Speaker 2: forthtelling for encouragement, for exhortation, for edification, for equipping and
[25:41] Speaker 2: the like. It is for strengthening the church and for
[25:44] Speaker 2: the believer.
[25:45] Speaker 8: Yeah wow, yeah, good definition. I totally agree and appreciate that.
[25:49] Speaker 8: And I've had a lot of experience that and throughout
[25:53] Speaker 8: different types of churches and charismatic realms, and that's what
[25:56] Speaker 8: I agree. So I appreciate that.
[26:00] Speaker 2: Thank you so much for your call. We're at a
