On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast (04/08/26), Hank continues to provide an overview of the days of Holy Week, picking up with Holy Wednesday, otherwise known as Spy Wednesday. For on the Wednesday of the last week of Christ’s earthly sojourn, Judas became a spy for the enemies of the Messiah. On this day, the ancient Church commemorates the ultimate in contrasts: a prostitute transformed into a pure bride in contrast to a chosen disciple who conspires with sinful men to betray the King of Truth. Hank also answers the following questions: I have a friend who is a member of Rodney Howard-Browne’s church. If he believes in the essentials, how does that make his ministry a cult, and how can I explain that to my friend? Nancy - PA (15:46) What is your take on sola scriptura now as an Orthodox Christian, and do you think it is biblical? Chris - Seattle, WA (19:33) I heard you say the other day that there was no rapture. Am I incorrect, or did you actually say that? Charles - Dexter, MO (23:04)

[1:13] Speaker 2: I do want to start this broadcast out as I
[1:16] Speaker 2: have started every broadcast out this week, with an overview
[1:21] Speaker 2: of what we're celebrating during Holy Week. The Eastern Church
[1:26] Speaker 2: is celebrating Holy Week this week, the Western Church last week.
[1:31] Speaker 2: In either case, it is so important not to let
[1:35] Speaker 2: the days simply slip by without having an understanding of
[1:40] Speaker 2: what's going on in terms of the celebration the commemoration
[1:45] Speaker 2: of each and every one of these days. This the
[1:49] Speaker 2: Wednesday of Holy Week, is a day that we call
[1:53] Speaker 2: Spy Wednesday. It's a day that we'll forever live in infamy.
[2:01] Speaker 2: It's on this day that the ancient Church commemorates the
[2:06] Speaker 2: Ultimate in contrast a prostitute transformed into a pure bride,
[2:13] Speaker 2: in contrast to a chosen disciple who conspires with sinful
[2:20] Speaker 2: men to betray the King of Truth. The story of
[2:25] Speaker 2: anointing is a story want to spend a little time on.
[2:28] Speaker 2: It's a familiar one. In Luke's Gospel, we find Jesus
[2:34] Speaker 2: at the home of a pharisee named Simon, And as
[2:38] Speaker 2: he sat down to eat, a woman who was a
[2:41] Speaker 2: sinner brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil and stood
[2:47] Speaker 2: at his feet behind him, weeping. And she began to
[2:51] Speaker 2: wash his feet with her tears and wipe them with
[2:56] Speaker 2: the hair of her head. And she kissed his feet
[3:01] Speaker 2: and anointed them with the fragrant oil of mirror. This story,
[3:07] Speaker 2: the story of Christ's encounter with the Sinful Woman, well,
[3:12] Speaker 2: it's an icon of amazing grace. Her sins are forgiven,
[3:18] Speaker 2: She's granted the peace that passes all understanding. She gives
[3:25] Speaker 2: her all, and thereby inherits the new Jerusalm coming down
[3:32] Speaker 2: out of Heaven from God. And so the fallen woman
[3:37] Speaker 2: she's transformed into a flawless bride, beautifully dressed for her bridegroom,
[3:44] Speaker 2: a wise virgin, anointed by the very chrism with which
[3:50] Speaker 2: she once anointed Christ. Contrarily, there's Judas. He's considered one
[4:00] Speaker 2: of those who saw the anointing of Jesus as a
[4:07] Speaker 2: sinful waste. He saw an anointing both of the sinful
[4:12] Speaker 2: Woman in the house of Simon the Pharisee and by
[4:16] Speaker 2: the way by Saint Marian Bethany, an anointing that took
[4:21] Speaker 2: place six days prior to Passover. But in either case
[4:27] Speaker 2: he sees anointing again is a waste. Why because he
[4:33] Speaker 2: despised the Master. He considered his value to be a
[4:38] Speaker 2: mere thirty pieces of silver, Essentially the value ascribed to
[4:45] Speaker 2: the inordinate purchase of a slave, so pretended concern for
[4:50] Speaker 2: the poor, he attacks their extravagance because he values the
[4:57] Speaker 2: wealth of the world far more than the wealth of
[5:01] Speaker 2: the word made flesh, the word that dwelt among us.
[5:06] Speaker 2: From his perspective, the anointing of Jesus with costly perfume
[5:13] Speaker 2: was a waste, because he had no appreciation for the
[5:18] Speaker 2: infinite value of the creator of the cosmos. But from
[5:23] Speaker 2: the perspective of Mary, Jesus is king of kings, his
[5:30] Speaker 2: Lord of lords, and thus nothing bestowed upon him could
[5:36] Speaker 2: ever be considered a waste. Holy Wednesday, the Wednesday of
[5:43] Speaker 2: Holy Week, is forever remembered. It's forever recalled as Spy Wednesday.
[5:51] Speaker 2: Why because on Wednesday of the last week of Christ's
[5:57] Speaker 2: earthly sojourn, Judas became a spy for the enemies of Messiah.
[6:04] Speaker 2: He who eats bread with me, said Jesus has lifted
[6:09] Speaker 2: up his heel against me. The words of Jesus concerning
[6:15] Speaker 2: Judas hearken back to David's prophetic lament, the lament concerning
[6:22] Speaker 2: his betrayal at the hands of a Hithefel. A Hitherefel, who,
[6:28] Speaker 2: after his plot with Absalom had failed, went out and
[6:33] Speaker 2: hanged himself. A millennium later, Judas went out and did
[6:41] Speaker 2: the very same. All of this leads back to you
[6:46] Speaker 2: and to me. Do we live for the kingdoms of
[6:51] Speaker 2: this world or for the kingdom that is to come?
[6:56] Speaker 2: How often in scripture have God's chosen peace people been
[7:01] Speaker 2: likened to a harlot? Even now, I think of Hoseiah's
[7:06] Speaker 2: marriage to the prostitute Gomer, which is a poignant parallel
[7:12] Speaker 2: to God's wedding covenant with Israel. The Gomer repeatedly whars
[7:17] Speaker 2: after other lovers, Hosea doggedly pursues reconciliation and a relationship
[7:24] Speaker 2: with his bride. Hoseah's love for Gomer is emblematic of
[7:30] Speaker 2: God's love for his prostituted bride. Verse by verse, the
[7:37] Speaker 2: painful picture of a people who prostitute themselves with pagan
[7:42] Speaker 2: deities marges. It culminates in Hoseiah's lament over a people
[7:49] Speaker 2: who love the wages of a prostitute at every threshing floor.
[7:56] Speaker 2: The image, of course, is pregnant with meaning. Not only
[8:00] Speaker 2: was the thrushing floor a place of intimacy in which
[8:05] Speaker 2: the kinsman Redeemer spread the corner of his garment over Ruth,
[8:12] Speaker 2: but the very temple itself was built on the threshing floor.
[8:18] Speaker 2: Unlike Ruth, the prostituted bride had little interest in seeking
[8:27] Speaker 2: intimacy with God in his temple. Instead, she craved intimacy
[8:34] Speaker 2: with foreign gods on the thrushing floors of perverse temples.
[8:41] Speaker 2: The contrast between the prostituted bride and that of a
[8:46] Speaker 2: purified bride could not be starker. It is that between
[8:54] Speaker 2: those who bear the mark of the beast and those
[8:58] Speaker 2: who bear the mark of those who love the things
[9:03] Speaker 2: of this world, and those who love the Lord of
[9:07] Speaker 2: the world that is to come. The takeaway is a
[9:13] Speaker 2: prayer that you and I are like the prostitute who
[9:19] Speaker 2: anointed the feet of the Master, like the thief who
[9:24] Speaker 2: cried out Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.
[9:31] Speaker 2: May we be the very personifications of what in Unison
[9:37] Speaker 2: we say during every liturgy. I will not give you
[9:42] Speaker 2: a kiss, as to Judas, but like the thief, I pray, Lord,
[9:48] Speaker 2: remember me in your kingdom. And by the way, on Monday,
[9:55] Speaker 2: Tuesday and Wednesday. It's been the common practice throughout your
[10:00] Speaker 2: history for Christians to read all four Gospels up until
[10:04] Speaker 2: the point in each Gospel account where the passion of
[10:09] Speaker 2: the Christ begins. So if you haven't done so already,
[10:14] Speaker 2: perhaps you can take just one of the gospels and
[10:18] Speaker 2: read it for all its substantial worth. Do it before
[10:24] Speaker 2: your head. It's the pillow tonight, But we will be
[10:29] Speaker 2: back on the other side of the break with more
[10:31] Speaker 2: of the Bible. Incimen broadcast will go directly to your questions.
[10:35] Speaker 2: My thanks to all of you who stand shoulder to
[10:38] Speaker 2: shoulder with me in the battle for life and truth.
[10:41] Speaker 2: We will be right back.
[10:43] Speaker 1: The Church of Almighty God, also known as Eastern Lightning,
[10:47] Speaker 1: is a socially subversive pseudo Christian cult. It follows a
[10:51] Speaker 1: self proclaimed female Christ whose heretical doctrines incite violence, denying
[10:58] Speaker 1: the Trinity and biblical authority. Eastern Lightning uses psychological intimidation,
[11:03] Speaker 1: disrupts families, and has even perpetrated physical assaults. In graphic language,
[11:09] Speaker 1: the counterfeit Christ exhorts followers to abandon their families and
[11:14] Speaker 1: devote themselves to recruiting new converts, branding those who refuse
[11:18] Speaker 1: as worthless. You can read more about the Iron Rod

[11:49] Speaker 1: tune out, Hank Hanagraph will be back with more right
[11:53] Speaker 1: after this. The number of wolves surrounding the Christian flock
[12:03] Speaker 1: is growing, and they relish nothing more than docile's sheep,
[12:07] Speaker 1: utterly incapable of defending themselves from militant secularists at home
[12:12] Speaker 1: to militant Islamists abroad. The assaults on Biblical Christianity are
[12:16] Speaker 1: growing dangerously, but Christian Research Institutes Support Team members aren't
[12:21] Speaker 1: in favor of feeding these wolves. Instead, each day they're
[12:25] Speaker 1: making possible an array of outreaches that defang these wolfpacks
[12:30] Speaker 1: with solid arguments and evidence that have stood the test
[12:33] Speaker 1: of time. What's more, Support Team members are equipping themselves

[13:03] Speaker 1: important event in human history. Why the Resurrection astonishingly did
[13:08] Speaker 1: more than miraculously reverse the order of sin and death
[13:12] Speaker 1: that plagues humanity. It inaugurated a whole new order of
[13:15] Speaker 1: being for us and for the universe. Unfortunately, far too
[13:19] Speaker 1: many people, believers and unbelievers alike, fail to grasp the
[13:23] Speaker 1: enormous implications of this event. To strengthen your faith and
[13:26] Speaker 1: equip you to provide credible answers to questions concerning the
[13:30] Speaker 1: death and Resurrection of Christ, the Christian Research Institute is

[14:11] Speaker 1: very words of God himself? Three years in the making
[14:16] Speaker 1: and based on two decades of research and reflection, Hank
[14:20] Speaker 1: Henagraph's monumental book Has God Spoken answers what is surely
[14:25] Speaker 1: the most important question facing our world. In Has God Spoken,
[14:29] Speaker 1: memorable proofs of the Bible's divine inspiration, Hank counters the
[14:33] Speaker 1: contentions of the Bible attackers and clearly shows that belief
[14:37] Speaker 1: in the Holy Scriptures is not a guess or wishful thinking.

[15:44] Speaker 2: And thank you very much for Indy. Let's go right
[15:46] Speaker 2: to our phone callers. First step Nancy in Pennsylvania. H Nancy.
[15:52] Speaker 3: Hik how I'm doing well.
[15:54] Speaker 2: Thank you nice talking.
[15:56] Speaker 3: To you again. I have a friend. I just found
[16:01] Speaker 3: out that a friend of mine is a member of
[16:05] Speaker 3: Rodney Howard Brown, one of his satellite church, and I
[16:09] Speaker 3: look into his statement of faith and it seems that
[16:11] Speaker 3: he believes in the essentials, but I know that he's
[16:15] Speaker 3: into a lot of heresy. If he believes in the essentials,
[16:20] Speaker 3: how does that make his ministry a cult and how
[16:23] Speaker 3: can I explain that to my friend?
[16:26] Speaker 2: Well, you know, I think it's cultic for sure. And
[16:29] Speaker 2: I don't think that he holds to the essentials of
[16:34] Speaker 2: the historic Christian faith because what he does is he
[16:38] Speaker 2: uses the Christian words, but he pours his own meaning
[16:44] Speaker 2: into those words. And from a sociological standpoint, I think
[16:48] Speaker 2: he's a very dangerous person. I wrote a book called
[16:51] Speaker 2: Counterfeit Revival, and Rodney Howard Brown is prominently featured in
[16:57] Speaker 2: that book. There's so much many false prophecies that he makes.
[17:03] Speaker 2: He has prophesied that people by the droves were going
[17:07] Speaker 2: to jump out of wheelchairs, people were going to be
[17:11] Speaker 2: raised from the dead. But the reality is as the
[17:15] Speaker 2: Holy Ghost Bartender or the Holy Ghost hit Man, as
[17:20] Speaker 2: he prefers to call himself. And I was the subject
[17:24] Speaker 2: of one of his tirades in a church in southern California,
[17:29] Speaker 2: which is a story in and of itself. But as
[17:32] Speaker 2: the Holy Ghost Bartender, he is using the power of
[17:37] Speaker 2: suggestion to create placebos for psychosomatic symptoms and sickness. In truth,
[17:45] Speaker 2: there's nothing supernatural about what he does. He uses the
[17:50] Speaker 2: magic of mental manipulation, and so he is constantly beguiling
[17:59] Speaker 2: and deceiving his devotees. He's an unreliable teacher, and as
[18:04] Speaker 2: I would say cultic, I wouldn't necessarily say that what
[18:08] Speaker 2: he has as a cult, but certainly from a sociological standpoint,
[18:13] Speaker 2: he is a counterfeit of the genuine article. He has
[18:18] Speaker 2: unreliable revelations that can't be trusted. He uses linguistic subversion,
[18:25] Speaker 2: theological perversion, and sociological deviance that I think is very,
[18:31] Speaker 2: very terrifying. I saw it firsthand over a long period
[18:35] Speaker 2: of time, and that is why he's included my book
[18:38] Speaker 2: Counterfeit Revival.
[18:40] Speaker 3: Okay, And so in that case, what would happen to
[18:44] Speaker 3: if the Lord comes to my friend? You know, I
[18:49] Speaker 3: mean how how I guess we don't know how God
[18:51] Speaker 3: would judge them. But give me an idea that you
[18:55] Speaker 3: know she won't be lost if she's niate to it.
[18:58] Speaker 2: Well, I don't think it's the absence of truth that damns.
[19:02] Speaker 2: It's the despising of truth that damns. But having said that,
[19:07] Speaker 2: I think it's important for you as a friend to
[19:10] Speaker 2: let her know that she is in the context of
[19:14] Speaker 2: a very unhealthy body, a body in which the pastor
[19:20] Speaker 2: is using socio psychological manipulation tactics to lure the devotee
[19:25] Speaker 2: to all kinds of false paradigms of spirituality.
[19:30] Speaker 3: Okay, well, thank you so much for helping me a lot.
[19:32] Speaker 2: Okay, you got it. Chris next in Seattle, Washington. Hi, Chris, Hi, Hank.
[19:38] Speaker 4: I have a question here, and I've listened to you
[19:40] Speaker 4: for a long time, and I must disclose it. I
[19:44] Speaker 4: became Catholic in twenty seventeen, which I think is the
[19:48] Speaker 4: same year you converted to Orthodoxy. Now, one of my
[19:52] Speaker 4: first steps upon my journey was I listened to a
[19:55] Speaker 4: debate that you facilitated between Jimmy Aiken, who how you
[20:00] Speaker 4: guys are friends and James White and I'm just curious,
[20:04] Speaker 4: what is your take on Sola script tour now as
[20:07] Speaker 4: an Orthodox Christian and do you think it's biblical?
[20:12] Speaker 2: Well, look, I think one of the ways that I
[20:14] Speaker 2: would attack that question is to go back to Iranaus.
[20:19] Speaker 2: The reason I do that is he is one of
[20:21] Speaker 2: the great apologists in church history. In the early Christian Church,
[20:25] Speaker 2: he was one of the first and one of the
[20:29] Speaker 2: most significant apologetic tones in church history was penned by
[20:35] Speaker 2: Irenaeus against heresies. And what he does in that tone
[20:40] Speaker 2: is he does not respond to the heresy of Gnosticism
[20:44] Speaker 2: with the solar script tour argument, but in refuting the
[20:48] Speaker 2: Gnostic heresy, he argues that you can go all the
[20:52] Speaker 2: way back to an unbroken Apostolic succession and you find
[20:57] Speaker 2: nothing whatsoever in the teachings of the early Church that
[21:02] Speaker 2: give credibility to the silly doctrines of the Gnostics. So
[21:07] Speaker 2: for Irenaeus, the sacred commission of the Apostolic Fathers was
[21:14] Speaker 2: the proper transmission of Apostolic tradition from one generation to
[21:20] Speaker 2: the next, from the Holy Fathers onward to the eucharistic
[21:25] Speaker 2: assembly of every local church in every successive generation. Now
[21:32] Speaker 2: here's what I think. I think all too often people
[21:35] Speaker 2: set scripture over against holy tradition, failing to recognize that
[21:41] Speaker 2: holy tradition gave a scripture. And so the holy tradition
[21:46] Speaker 2: of the Apostolic Fathers was never considered an independent instance.
[21:52] Speaker 2: It was a complementary source of faith. Ecclesiastical understanding could
[21:58] Speaker 2: never add any think to scripture, but it was the
[22:02] Speaker 2: only means to ascertain and to disclose the true meaning
[22:06] Speaker 2: of scripture. So tradition was in fact the authentic interpretation
[22:12] Speaker 2: of scripture, and in that sense it's coextensive with scripture.
[22:17] Speaker 2: Tradition therefore becomes scripture rightly understood. And I think this
[22:25] Speaker 2: is really important because how did we get the Bible.
[22:29] Speaker 2: We got the Bible because, as Paul said, the Church
[22:33] Speaker 2: is the ground and pillar of truth, and it is
[22:37] Speaker 2: through the Church that we have the scriptures. Yet to remember,
[22:40] Speaker 2: at the time of Irenaeus, they didn't have a corpus,
[22:45] Speaker 2: a scripture that we now call the Canon of the
[22:49] Speaker 2: New Testament that came into being over a process of time.
[22:54] Speaker 2: So I think oftentimes we become dichotomaniacs you know, we
[22:58] Speaker 2: make a false dichotomy that isn't necessary, and in this case,
[23:02] Speaker 2: I don't think it's particularly helpful. Let's go back to
[23:04] Speaker 2: the phone lines. Doctor Charles in Dexter, Missouri. Hi, Charles, Hey,
[23:11] Speaker 2: how you doing good?
[23:12] Speaker 4: I'm over the road truck driver and I listen to
[23:15] Speaker 4: your program.
[23:16] Speaker 3: Thank you every day. First, I'd like to.
[23:18] Speaker 4: Say that I'll be praying for you that the Lords
[23:22] Speaker 4: will be done in your life. My question for you, Pink,
[23:27] Speaker 4: is the other day I was driving down the road.
[23:29] Speaker 4: I thought I heard you say that there was no rapture.
[23:35] Speaker 4: Am I incorrect in that?
[23:38] Speaker 3: Or did I actually.
[23:39] Speaker 4: Hear you say that?
[23:40] Speaker 2: Well, I would say that there's no basis biblically for
[23:43] Speaker 2: a pre tribulational rapture. There's not a single passage in
[23:48] Speaker 2: scripture that speaks of Jesus coming to rapture the church
[23:52] Speaker 2: seven years prior to his second appearing. In fact, our
[23:56] Speaker 2: Lord's own words negate the very notion Jesus said, time
[24:00] Speaker 2: is coming when all who are in the grays will
[24:03] Speaker 2: hear his voice and come out. Those who have done
[24:06] Speaker 2: good will rise to live, and those who have done
[24:10] Speaker 2: evil will rise to be condemned. So the plain and
[24:14] Speaker 2: literal sense of Our Lord's words suggest a moment in
[24:17] Speaker 2: the future when both the righteous and the unrighteous are
[24:22] Speaker 2: going to be resurrected and judged together. The notion that
[24:27] Speaker 2: some believers will come out of their graves that the
[24:30] Speaker 2: rapture and others one hundred and seven years later is
[24:34] Speaker 2: clearly an imposition on the biblical text. And I would
[24:39] Speaker 2: say furthermore that there's no biblical basis for a coming
[24:44] Speaker 2: seven year tribulation during which the vast majority of Jews
[24:48] Speaker 2: are going to die. That, of course, is not to
[24:51] Speaker 2: suggest that the Jews enough faced tribulation in the past.
[24:54] Speaker 2: I think, for example, the terrible seven year tribulation suffered
