[0:07] Speaker 1: From the Christian Research Institute in Charlotte, North Carolina. You
[0:11] Speaker 1: are listening to the best of the Bible answer Man
[0:13] Speaker 1: broadcast with Hank Cantagraph. We're on the air because life
[0:17] Speaker 1: and truth matter. The mission of the Christian Research Institute
[0:22] Speaker 1: is to equip believers to answer life's essential questions soundly
[0:26] Speaker 1: and persuasively, and to give the reason for the hope
[0:29] Speaker 1: that you have with gentleness and respect. For more information,
[0:34] Speaker 1: go online to equip dot org. The following program was
[0:38] Speaker 1: pre recorded and now here's Bible answer Man host Hank
[0:43] Speaker 1: canagraph Or.
[0:44] Speaker 2: One of the best things that ever happened to me
[0:46] Speaker 2: as a new believer was being told that all Christians
[0:49] Speaker 2: memorize the Bible. By the time I found out that
[0:53] Speaker 2: not all of them did, I was already hooked. Now,
[0:57] Speaker 2: as I look back, I can truthfully say that nothing
[1:00] Speaker 2: compares with the excitement of memorizing the Word of God.
[1:04] Speaker 2: God has told us to write his word on the
[1:07] Speaker 2: tablet of our hearts, and with that call he has
[1:11] Speaker 2: provided the ability. Your mind is like a muscle. If
[1:15] Speaker 2: you exercise it, you will increase its capacity to remember
[1:20] Speaker 2: and recall. If you don't like a muscle, it will atrophy.
[1:24] Speaker 2: There are some practical tips for you to get started
[1:27] Speaker 2: in memory. They are to set goals. I've often said
[1:30] Speaker 2: he wims at nothing invariably hits it. Make those goals attainable.
[1:35] Speaker 2: If your goals are unrealistic, you will undoubtedly become discouraged
[1:39] Speaker 2: and give up. Then memorize with a family member or
[1:42] Speaker 2: a friend. Memorizing with someone else's enjoyable and will also
[1:47] Speaker 2: make you accountable. And then use normally unproductive time to
[1:52] Speaker 2: review what you have memorized, such as while waiting in
[1:56] Speaker 2: a line, perhaps at the airport, or when you're falling asleep.
[2:01] Speaker 2: There's no time like the present to get started, and
[2:04] Speaker 2: a good place to begin is Joshua one to eight.
[2:08] Speaker 2: Do not let this book of the Law depart from
[2:10] Speaker 2: your mouth. Meditate on a day and night so that
[2:15] Speaker 2: you may be careful to do everything written in it.
[2:18] Speaker 2: Then you will be prosperous and successful. If you want
[2:24] Speaker 2: true prosperity, there it is. Let's go right to the
[2:27] Speaker 2: phone calls. First up is Tad in Memphis, Tennessee.
[2:31] Speaker 3: Hi, Tad, Thanks have a relationship with John. Say we'll
[2:35] Speaker 3: be creating New Haven, New Earth. And the neutral signe
[2:38] Speaker 3: comes down from heaven and then the tone of God
[2:41] Speaker 3: also so, and we are teaching to we spend attention
[2:46] Speaker 3: in a heaven, but doesn't say price went back to
[2:50] Speaker 3: have what the sins went back to heaven? So my
[2:54] Speaker 3: question is is heaven will be.
[2:55] Speaker 4: Here on earth?
[2:57] Speaker 1: Well?
[2:57] Speaker 2: Yeah, in this universe itself will be our playground as
[3:01] Speaker 2: it were. And I think that you're right to point
[3:05] Speaker 2: to what the scriptures tell us in Revelation chapter twenty one,
[3:10] Speaker 2: where you see a new heaven and a new Earth,
[3:12] Speaker 2: for the first heaven and first Earth had passed away.
[3:15] Speaker 2: There's no longer any sea. The Holy City, the new Jerusalem,
[3:19] Speaker 2: comes down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride,
[3:23] Speaker 2: beautifully dressed for her husband, and a loud voice from
[3:26] Speaker 2: the throne says, now the dwelling of God is with men,
[3:31] Speaker 2: and he will live with them. They will be as people,
[3:35] Speaker 2: and God himself will be with them and be their God.
[3:38] Speaker 2: And this really conjures up visions of what happened in
[3:43] Speaker 2: Genesis where God creates Adam and Eve, and Adam and
[3:47] Speaker 2: Eve have fellowship with God, which is to say God
[3:51] Speaker 2: himself traverse this planet, that God himself and what oftentimes
[3:58] Speaker 2: is seen as a theophany or christophany was encountering human
[4:04] Speaker 2: beings in the cool of the day. In other words,
[4:09] Speaker 2: all language pointing that God himself dwelt with us. And
[4:13] Speaker 2: that's what we look forward to in a renewed heaven
[4:17] Speaker 2: and a renewed Earth, wherein dwells righteousness, no more death,
[4:21] Speaker 2: no more mourning, no more crying, no more pain, but
[4:23] Speaker 2: a real physical existence in a real physical universe. So
[4:29] Speaker 2: the metaphor of heaven and Earth here is pointing to
[4:35] Speaker 2: what God created, which will be reconstituted, as it were,
[4:42] Speaker 2: without the stain of sin and death. And the question
[4:47] Speaker 2: that you asked there for is not a peripheral kind
[4:50] Speaker 2: of an issue. It's not kind of a titillating question
[4:53] Speaker 2: that might be nice to speculate about, but it speaks
[4:57] Speaker 2: to what all Christians look forward to. We look forward
[5:01] Speaker 2: to the resurrection of the dead. We likewise look forward
[5:10] Speaker 2: to the resurrection of the planet. Indeed, we look forward
[5:16] Speaker 2: to the resurrection of the universe. So we're going to
[5:19] Speaker 2: be changed, and the universe itself will be transformed. Paradise
[5:27] Speaker 2: lost therefore will become paradise restored. And if you can't
[5:33] Speaker 2: get excited about that, pray. Tell what can you get
[5:37] Speaker 2: excited about? We look forward. As mortal humans, our lifespan
[5:44] Speaker 2: is three score plus ten years, or if by reason
[5:51] Speaker 2: to strength, forescore. Now think about that seventy or eighty years.
[5:55] Speaker 2: And if you look through the obituaries, you see a
[5:57] Speaker 2: lot of people dying in their fifties, some of their seventies,
[6:01] Speaker 2: some of their nineties. But the reality is the living
[6:05] Speaker 2: know they will die, that the death right is one
[6:08] Speaker 2: per person. We're all going to make it. And only
[6:11] Speaker 2: in Christianity do we become greater after death than we
[6:17] Speaker 2: were before death. For only in Christianity are mortal bodies
[6:21] Speaker 2: transformed like unto his resurrected body. If you really want
[6:25] Speaker 2: to understand the resurrection and its import for you as
[6:29] Speaker 2: a believer, I wrote a book about this called Resurrection.
[6:34] Speaker 2: You go to the web at equipped dot org and
[6:36] Speaker 2: simply ordered, let's go back to the phone lines. We'll
[6:40] Speaker 2: talk next to Jeff. He's listening on Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
[6:43] Speaker 5: Hi, Jeff, Hey, Hey, how are you, brothers?
[6:45] Speaker 2: I'm good? How are you? Oh?
[6:47] Speaker 5: Well, I'm sitting here trying to well, hoping that Mother
[6:51] Speaker 5: Nature is going to figure out a whist She wants
[6:53] Speaker 5: to make it winter or spring or summer. But I
[6:55] Speaker 5: think I'm doing all right.
[6:56] Speaker 2: Well that's the problem with living in Calgary. But that
[6:59] Speaker 2: is a beautiful play.
[7:00] Speaker 5: Well, I'm glad you think so. But I have a
[7:03] Speaker 5: couple of questions. One of them I've been struggling with
[7:05] Speaker 5: for the past little while. I was confronted by some
[7:08] Speaker 5: Jehovah's witnesses a while ago, and it's in regards to
[7:11] Speaker 5: I think Revelations three twelve, where it says to him
[7:15] Speaker 5: that overcomes, I will build I will write his name
[7:17] Speaker 5: in the temple of my God. Now, and I've asked
[7:21] Speaker 5: so many people, and I haven't been given a straight
[7:23] Speaker 5: answer as to why if it's Christ that is speaking. Now,
[7:27] Speaker 5: I understand that like Christ is God. Everybody knows that.
[7:30] Speaker 5: I mean, there's three who's in one. What now if
[7:33] Speaker 5: Christ is if he's been resurrected and he's been glorified,
[7:37] Speaker 5: and he is equal with God, why is he saying
[7:41] Speaker 5: in the temple of my God instead of my temple?
[7:45] Speaker 2: Right? But remember that the fact that Jesus Christ is
[7:49] Speaker 2: equal to God does not mean that there are not
[7:53] Speaker 2: personal self distinctions within the Godhead.
[7:58] Speaker 5: Okay, yeah, the three who's in one.
[8:00] Speaker 2: Yes. And then also Jesus Christ distinguishes himself from all
[8:06] Speaker 2: other humans. We're sons by adoption. He is the son
[8:13] Speaker 2: by nature. And if you look at the context of
[8:16] Speaker 2: the passage, you see that the Father's name is being
[8:20] Speaker 2: written on the forehead. You see that by comparing scripture
[8:24] Speaker 2: with scripture, go for example, to Revelation chapter fourteen, where
[8:29] Speaker 2: John looks and there before him is a lamb. The
[8:33] Speaker 2: lamb is standing on Mount Zion, and with him one
[8:36] Speaker 2: hundred and forty four thousand who had his name and
[8:41] Speaker 2: his father's name written on their foreheads. And of course
[8:46] Speaker 2: the one hundred and forty four thousand is the full
[8:49] Speaker 2: complement of God's people. The idea is, it's a beautiful
[8:54] Speaker 2: structure that you have in the Book of Revelation, where
[8:57] Speaker 2: you have the twelve apostles of the Lamb, and you
[9:01] Speaker 2: have the twelve tribes of Israel multiplied by thousand, to
[9:06] Speaker 2: give you an idea of the full complement of God's people.
[9:12] Speaker 2: One other point, Jesus Christ is still and will forever
[9:17] Speaker 2: be the god Man. He is our intercessor before the Father,
[9:21] Speaker 2: and will be our intercestor before the Father forever and ever.
[9:28] Speaker 2: And ever that will never change. So Jesus Christ is
[9:32] Speaker 2: never going to change in terms of being one person,
[9:38] Speaker 2: that one person with two natures, one hundred percent human
[9:43] Speaker 2: and one hundred percent divine. So when we.
[9:45] Speaker 5: Encounter Christ eternally God and but he will forever be
[9:49] Speaker 5: since he stepped down from there, he will be eternally
[9:52] Speaker 5: the God Man.
[9:53] Speaker 2: Right, he has been exalted, so he no longer has
[9:58] Speaker 2: limited his prerogative of divinity. In the incarnation, Jesus Christ
[10:02] Speaker 2: voluntarily takes on the limitations of humanity. He doesn't divest
[10:08] Speaker 2: himself of a single attribute of deity, but he voluntarily
[10:13] Speaker 2: becomes a servant. He is now exalted, so he's not
[10:17] Speaker 2: limiting those prerogatives and any sense today. But he is
[10:21] Speaker 2: yet one person with two natures. He's forever theanthropist to
[10:25] Speaker 2: God Man.
[10:26] Speaker 5: Okay, wonderful, and you know, thank you so much. You're
[10:29] Speaker 5: the only person so far that has been able to
[10:31] Speaker 5: answer that in a way that I can understand it,
[10:34] Speaker 5: and that actually makes it. Everybody else they just say, well,
[10:37] Speaker 5: you know, it's the wording of the way scripture is written,
[10:40] Speaker 5: or it's just the way the triunity works, and nobody's
[10:42] Speaker 5: been able to answer that, so thank you, so very
[10:45] Speaker 5: very very much.
[10:46] Speaker 2: You got it.
[10:47] Speaker 5: My next question and it's very very simple, and I
[10:50] Speaker 5: know there's a lot of controversy about him, and the
[10:52] Speaker 5: people are shaking there, you know.
[10:53] Speaker 2: Unfortunately I only have ten seconds before I go to break,
[10:56] Speaker 2: so you have to hang on to get the last
[10:58] Speaker 2: question in. We'll be right back. Get just a few
[11:00] Speaker 2: moments with more O the bipelinesment broadcast.

[13:06] Speaker 1: near death experience book Proof of Heaven assures us that
[13:10] Speaker 1: no matter what we do in this life, only unconditional
[13:13] Speaker 1: love and joy await us in the world to come.
[13:16] Speaker 1: But our Lord warned that while the gate to Hell
[13:18] Speaker 1: is wide, the road to it broad, and those who
[13:21] Speaker 1: enter through it are many. The gate is narrow and
[13:24] Speaker 1: the way is hard. That leads to life, and those
[13:27] Speaker 1: who find it are few. Your generous support, let's Hank

[13:34] Speaker 1: lead to hell. In appreciation for your gift, today we'll

[13:52] Speaker 1: Now again, that's equip dot org. The Soviet Red Army
[14:02] Speaker 1: won the Battle of Stalingrad. It appeared at first the
[14:05] Speaker 1: Nazi war machine would secure the victory, but the Soviets
[14:08] Speaker 1: battled back from near certain defeat with extraordinary courage and
[14:13] Speaker 1: resoluteness to turn the tide of the battle and ultimately
[14:16] Speaker 1: the war. The lesson is that both men and material
[14:20] Speaker 1: people and provisions played a critical role. Willingness to fight
[14:24] Speaker 1: and munitions in the arsenal were pivotal. Our contemporary battle
[14:29] Speaker 1: for truth against anti Christian secularists raises the stakes above
[14:33] Speaker 1: the significance of Stalingrad. CRI likewise needs military partners willing
[14:39] Speaker 1: to stand for truth along with the financial means to
[14:42] Speaker 1: accomplish the mission. Stand with us during the key month

[15:10] Speaker 2: It's I very much Randy, and we go right back
[15:12] Speaker 2: to our phone callers. Next up is Alex listening in
[15:15] Speaker 2: oh Mahon, Nebraska.
[15:17] Speaker 4: Hi Alex, Hi, hiks, Great to talk to you.
[15:20] Speaker 2: Nice to talk to you.
[15:21] Speaker 4: I have a question I've I've been talking and preaching
[15:24] Speaker 4: online to people, like especially on YouTube, and I keep
[15:29] Speaker 4: talking with some evolutionists I to rember respect. But one
[15:33] Speaker 4: of my problems is that every time I prove them wrong,
[15:36] Speaker 4: not to win nothing, just to prove that evolution is wrong,
[15:40] Speaker 4: they have like this ability to escape like in like
[15:43] Speaker 4: in such ways like how do we know this is reality?
[15:46] Speaker 4: And stuff like that, like I don't know how to
[15:49] Speaker 4: deal with it, Like they don't change their view no
[15:51] Speaker 4: matter how many evidence I show them proving evolutions that
[15:55] Speaker 4: don't work right and and how much evidence that there
[15:59] Speaker 4: is for Jesus archaeological and historian, by the historians there
[16:04] Speaker 4: was of Jesus and all this, they just don't change
[16:07] Speaker 4: their mind. I don't know what to do when I
[16:09] Speaker 4: talk to them because I feel bad because they're teaching
[16:12] Speaker 4: wrong teachings to young kids on YouTube. You know they're there,
[16:15] Speaker 4: they believe it. You're like, wow, I'm amazed. I can't
[16:18] Speaker 4: believe I was a monkey, you know, or ape like feature.
[16:22] Speaker 4: And it's just sad and I try to and they're
[16:25] Speaker 4: spreading I don't know what to do about it.
[16:27] Speaker 2: Yeah, well, first of all, it's great that you're hanging
[16:30] Speaker 2: out on YouTube and being a witness for Jesus Christ.
[16:32] Speaker 2: You're to be commended for that. But remember that it's
[16:36] Speaker 2: never your province to change anybody's heart. That's the province
[16:41] Speaker 2: of the Holy Spirit. What you want to be doing
[16:44] Speaker 2: is precisely what you are doing, and that is equipping
[16:48] Speaker 2: or preparing yourself to be an ever more effective tool
[16:51] Speaker 2: in the hands of the Holy Spirit in terms of
[16:53] Speaker 2: reaching people. So the results are not what you're after.
[16:58] Speaker 2: What you're after is precisely what you're doing. Always being
[17:02] Speaker 2: ready to give an answer or reason for the hope
[17:04] Speaker 2: that lies within you. With gentleness and with respect. When
[17:07] Speaker 2: I was a person who believed in philosophical naturalism and evolutionism,
[17:12] Speaker 2: I'm sure there were many people who witnessed to me
[17:14] Speaker 2: over the years who probably sighed deeply and thought no
[17:19] Speaker 2: one will ever reach him. But eventually the seeds that
[17:24] Speaker 2: they planted someone else came along and watered, and God
[17:27] Speaker 2: gave the increase, and I was able to take an
[17:30] Speaker 2: objective look at the evidences and recognize that the evolutionary paradigm,
[17:35] Speaker 2: which I once thought made so much sense, makes no
[17:38] Speaker 2: sense whatsoever. You're forced to believe that life came from
[17:44] Speaker 2: non life, that nothing produced everything, and for that matter,
[17:49] Speaker 2: that the life that came from non life produced morals.
[17:52] Speaker 2: I mean, this is a stretch, to say the least. Logically,
[17:56] Speaker 2: we know that every effect has to have a cause
[17:58] Speaker 2: equal to her greater than itself. When you look at
[18:00] Speaker 2: the universe, you must certainly be driven to the notion
[18:04] Speaker 2: that there's an uncaused first cause by which the universe
[18:09] Speaker 2: came into existence. So I think all of the evidence
[18:12] Speaker 2: is on our side of the ledger, and we need
[18:14] Speaker 2: to simply communicate it with gentleness and with respect, but
[18:18] Speaker 2: leave the conversion process in the hands of the Holy Spirit.
[18:22] Speaker 2: We can be an effective tool, but he ultimately is
[18:25] Speaker 2: the one who transforms the heart.
[18:28] Speaker 4: Thank you, Wen. What do you recommend to people that
[18:30] Speaker 4: just keep on going on like you don't listen whatever
[18:32] Speaker 4: you write, I just leave it alone.
[18:34] Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean again, you shouldn't feel the obligation to
[18:39] Speaker 2: do something that you're not obligated to do. What you
[18:41] Speaker 2: are obligated to do is to be an effective witness.
[18:44] Speaker 2: What you are not obligated to do is change anybody's heart.
[18:48] Speaker 4: I thank you. That's the clip that Or you have
[18:50] Speaker 4: resources for evolution like teaching creation, Yeah.
[18:53] Speaker 2: You know. I have a book that I've mentioned on
[18:55] Speaker 2: today's broadcast called the Creation answer Book. In this book,
[18:59] Speaker 2: I basicly go through the evidences against the evolutionary paradigm.
[19:06] Speaker 2: I demonstrate that the whole notion of one kind evolving
[19:12] Speaker 2: into another kind simply does not correspond to reality. Then
[19:16] Speaker 2: I go over the ape men, fiction fantasies, and frauds
[19:20] Speaker 2: that are being taught to young people today in the
[19:23] Speaker 2: classroom and show how they don't correspond to reality. Then
[19:28] Speaker 2: I demonstrate the chance that which happens without cause implies
[19:33] Speaker 2: the absence of both design and a designer. However, all
[19:36] Speaker 2: of the evidence points in a different direction. And then
[19:40] Speaker 2: I point out that the basic laws of science militate
[19:43] Speaker 2: against the evolutionary hypothesis. And therefore, as we move farther
[19:49] Speaker 2: and farther in an age of scientific enlightenment, more and
[19:52] Speaker 2: more evidence comes to light, which causes the evolutionary foundation
[19:58] Speaker 2: to start to crack in such a way that ultimately
[20:00] Speaker 2: it's going to have to completely disintegrate because it's simply
[20:05] Speaker 2: is a theory that people are sort of forced to
[20:08] Speaker 2: communicate and believe, but it has no real basis and evidence.
[20:13] Speaker 2: It is a fairy tale for adults.
[20:15] Speaker 4: Thank you, Hank Minilo Kei. Blessing you for what you're doing.
[20:18] Speaker 4: You're helping millions.
[20:19] Speaker 2: Thank you, Alex. Appreciate your call back to the phone
[20:21] Speaker 2: lines with Sheila, Honolulu, Hawaii.
[20:25] Speaker 5: Hi, Sheila, Hi, thank you for picking a call.
[20:28] Speaker 1: You're welcome to know.
[20:30] Speaker 5: I guess I saw two different spirits at my aunt's
[20:33] Speaker 5: house when I was sleeping over and being a Christian,
[20:36] Speaker 5: I shouldn't be afraid, but I don't know why I'm
[20:39] Speaker 5: seeing it.
[20:40] Speaker 2: Well, Sheila, you have to take your subjective experience and
[20:43] Speaker 2: test it in light of an objective frame of reference,
[20:47] Speaker 2: which is the Word of God. And what we know
[20:50] Speaker 2: for certain about the Word of God is that when
[20:53] Speaker 2: someone dies, they are either in torment, which is to say,
[20:58] Speaker 2: they're away from the loving presence of God, or they
[21:01] Speaker 2: are being comforted in the presence of God. But they
[21:05] Speaker 2: do not and cannot return to this time space continuum
[21:10] Speaker 2: without God's divine prerogative. And God does not do this
[21:15] Speaker 2: in a normal or a normative fashion. Therefore, the subjective
[21:20] Speaker 2: experience of seeing a dead relative is something that does
[21:25] Speaker 2: not correspond to the truth of scripture. Now, it doesn't
[21:28] Speaker 2: mean that you didn't have a real experience and that
[21:31] Speaker 2: you really think that this is true. Of course you do.
[21:35] Speaker 2: But there are many things that we experience subjectively that
[21:40] Speaker 2: objectively are invalidated. And that's why we also have to
[21:43] Speaker 2: test the subjective experience again in light of the Word
[21:48] Speaker 2: of God, which is the final test for faith and practice.
[21:52] Speaker 5: What do you mean by test it because it's not
[21:54] Speaker 5: a relative.
[21:54] Speaker 4: I don't know this person.
[21:55] Speaker 5: I cannot see the faith.
[21:57] Speaker 2: Well, but I'm saying whether it's a relative or any
[22:00] Speaker 2: anyone else. We know that those who have died do
[22:03] Speaker 2: not return to the land the living, but We also
[22:07] Speaker 2: know something to be absolutely true on the basis of scripture,
[22:11] Speaker 2: and that is that Satan will play upon the field
[22:15] Speaker 2: of our imagination and our superstition. And that's why when
[22:20] Speaker 2: you test things in light of scripture, you know it
[22:22] Speaker 2: can't be a ghost or a departed person. But you
[22:26] Speaker 2: can know that why you cannot see Satan, that he
[22:30] Speaker 2: will try to influence your thoughts. And that's why you
[22:34] Speaker 2: have to put on the full armor of God so
[22:36] Speaker 2: you can take your stand against principalities and powers of darkness.
[22:41] Speaker 5: All right, thank you, you.
[22:43] Speaker 2: Got it, Sheilain. I've written about this in a book
[22:45] Speaker 2: called The Covering. Back to the phone lines. We talked
[22:47] Speaker 2: to Deleen in Columbia, Mississippi. Hi.
[22:50] Speaker 6: Deleen, Hi, thank you for taking my call.
[22:53] Speaker 4: You're welcome.
[22:54] Speaker 6: My question is about the passover. So is it just
[22:57] Speaker 6: traditions a man that they call the last for the Passover.
[23:01] Speaker 6: I know in the Gospels it speaks as passover. Peter
[23:05] Speaker 6: and John were instructed to go and prepare for the passover,
[23:08] Speaker 6: but Jesus, being on passover lamb, was crucified at three
[23:12] Speaker 6: pm on the day that they fell the lamb. The
[23:16] Speaker 6: Passover supper is to be eaten that night, which will
[23:18] Speaker 6: be the beginning of the next day, the first day
[23:21] Speaker 6: of eleven Bread. Why does the Bible say that Jesus
[23:26] Speaker 6: ate the Passover Supper with the disciples when it's impossible
[23:30] Speaker 6: he was crucified.
[23:32] Speaker 2: Well, I'm really glad that you're reading your Bible carefully.
[23:35] Speaker 2: One of the things you'll find as you read the
[23:37] Speaker 2: Bible carefully is that Jesus died on Passover Day or Friday,
[23:41] Speaker 2: to fulfill the conditions of being our Passover lamb. So
[23:45] Speaker 2: you're correct in that presupposition. But there's a time difference
[23:50] Speaker 2: between the household observance of the Passover meal on the
[23:57] Speaker 2: evening of the fourteenth of Nissan, which is Thursday evening,
[24:01] Speaker 2: which the Lord celebrated with his disciples as the Lord's Supper,
[24:05] Speaker 2: and the public sacrifice on the altar on behalf of
[24:07] Speaker 2: the nation of Israel on the fifteenth of Nissan. And
[24:11] Speaker 2: I think therein lies the answer to your question.
[24:14] Speaker 6: Well, see, I believe Jesus was in the grade three
[24:17] Speaker 6: days and three nights, because he says Jonah was in
[24:19] Speaker 6: the belly of the fish three days and three nights,
[24:23] Speaker 6: So the son of Man would be in the heart
[24:24] Speaker 6: of the earth three days and three nights.
[24:27] Speaker 2: Yeah, but that doesn't mean seventy two hours.
[24:30] Speaker 6: You can't get three days and three nights out of
[24:32] Speaker 6: Friday afternoon.
[24:33] Speaker 2: But I was just going to explain that to you. Again,
[24:35] Speaker 2: you're correct in the basic idea that you're communicating. The
[24:39] Speaker 2: Gospels say that he died and he was buried the
[24:43] Speaker 2: day before the Sabbath or Friday, and rose on the
[24:46] Speaker 2: day after the Sabbath or on Sunday. And the answer
[24:51] Speaker 2: therefore to the conundrum that you pose is that in
[24:54] Speaker 2: the Jewish mind, part of a day was counted as
[24:59] Speaker 2: an entire day. And that's why it's so important to
[25:03] Speaker 2: learn the idioms or figures of speech that are used
[25:06] Speaker 2: in scripture. And by the way, you know that it
[25:09] Speaker 2: couldn't have been seventy two hours that were in mind,
[25:12] Speaker 2: because Christ rose on the third day, not after three days,
[25:18] Speaker 2: according to Matthew chapter sixteen. So again I think it's
[25:22] Speaker 2: important to understand that part of a day and part
[25:27] Speaker 2: of a night constituted as a day and a night,
[25:30] Speaker 2: and so you don't have to have a full seventy
[25:33] Speaker 2: two hours. Literally, that's not what is in view. In fact,
[25:36] Speaker 2: if you read the text carefully. You know not only
[25:40] Speaker 2: by the function of Jewish idiom that I've just described,
[25:43] Speaker 2: but you know from the text itself that it couldn't
[25:46] Speaker 2: have been a full seventy two hours that are in view.
