[0:07] Speaker 1: From Charlotte, North Carolina. You're listening to the Bible answer
[0:11] Speaker 1: Man broadcast with Hank Hanagraph, president of the Christian Research Institute.
[0:16] Speaker 1: The reason the Bible answer Man is on the air
[0:18] Speaker 1: is to defend the Christian faith, proclaim the gospel of
[0:22] Speaker 1: our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to teach discipleship
[0:26] Speaker 1: to his followers, because life and truth matter. For more
[0:30] Speaker 1: information or to order equipping resources, call eight eight eight

[0:44] Speaker 1: That's equip dot org. The following program was pre recorded,
[0:50] Speaker 1: and now here's your host, Hank Anagraph.
[0:53] Speaker 2: Thank you very much, Randy, and we'll go right to
[0:56] Speaker 2: our phone callers. First up is Kurt listening in Billings, Montana.
[1:02] Speaker 2: High Kurt, Hi, how you doing good?
[1:04] Speaker 3: All right? I've heard your explanation before on the sons
[1:09] Speaker 3: of God and Satan, whether or not he's able to
[1:14] Speaker 3: create things that I was supposed to be in the
[1:16] Speaker 3: domain of God only.
[1:17] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[1:18] Speaker 3: I don't necessarily agree with you on this. I don't
[1:20] Speaker 3: really have a take in the matter either way, but
[1:23] Speaker 3: I noticed, like an for example, in Genesis chapter six,
[1:26] Speaker 3: where it speaks about the sons of God. You say
[1:30] Speaker 3: that you don't believe that that's actually demons and human
[1:34] Speaker 3: beings pro creating.
[1:36] Speaker 4: Right, that's correct.
[1:37] Speaker 3: Yes, Okay, now you're going to say, this is where
[1:41] Speaker 3: I disagree with you. For the most part. You say
[1:44] Speaker 3: that if that was the case, Satan could have resurrected
[1:47] Speaker 3: as the risen Christ. Is that right?
[1:49] Speaker 2: No, What I'm saying is that if you hold to
[1:51] Speaker 2: the notion that demons have creative power, that demons can
[1:57] Speaker 2: actually take on physical form, then you lose epistemic warrant
[2:03] Speaker 2: for the central event in Christianity, the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
[2:06] Speaker 2: because now you lose the argument for the appearances of
[2:11] Speaker 2: Jesus Christ because Satan could have masqueraded as the resurrected Christ.
[2:19] Speaker 2: So I'm simply saying it has real significant apologetic value,
[2:26] Speaker 2: and when you suggest that Satan has creative power, it
[2:29] Speaker 2: undermines many of the things that we use as a
[2:33] Speaker 2: defense of the Christian worldview and faith. But I think
[2:37] Speaker 2: on a much more fundamental level, I think the operative
[2:40] Speaker 2: point here is that each kind reproduces after its own kind.
[2:45] Speaker 2: The notion that non physical beings interact or intersect sexually
[2:53] Speaker 2: with women and produce offspring is not consistent with that
[2:59] Speaker 2: very and if it can point in a biblical worldview
[3:02] Speaker 2: that every kind reproduces after its own kind. And not
[3:06] Speaker 2: only that, but there's an attendant issue here, and that
[3:09] Speaker 2: is demons, being non physical, simply don't have the physical
[3:14] Speaker 2: means to interact sexually with women. And if they could
[3:18] Speaker 2: have done it, then they could do it now.
[3:20] Speaker 3: Okay, first of all, I think to claim that as
[3:25] Speaker 3: a possibility is one thing, but we don't know for
[3:27] Speaker 3: sure exactly if that's the case or not. There's a
[3:29] Speaker 3: lot of things we don't know what could happen. I
[3:31] Speaker 3: don't believe that personally, but there are a lot of
[3:34] Speaker 3: Bible teachers, for example, Albert Mohler, I think MacArthur, many
[3:41] Speaker 3: what you would call probably good Bible teachers leave in
[3:45] Speaker 3: that other the traditional view that actually it is part
[3:50] Speaker 3: of satan and human reproducing.
[3:54] Speaker 2: Okay, well, I don't know what they believe or not,
[3:56] Speaker 2: but I can go right to the biblical.
[3:58] Speaker 3: Test checked it out. That's what they've said, right.
[4:00] Speaker 2: But here's the point, it's not what anyone says. You
[4:03] Speaker 2: have to take what they say and test it in
[4:06] Speaker 2: light a scripture. Whether it's me or any other teacher,
[4:09] Speaker 2: you still have to test what is said in light
[4:12] Speaker 2: a scripture.
[4:12] Speaker 4: Hold faster.
[4:13] Speaker 3: There's not only one view. People have different views on everything.
[4:16] Speaker 3: You can go to the bookstore. There's four different views
[4:19] Speaker 3: on about twenty different subjects in the Bible, and they
[4:21] Speaker 3: all use the same hermeneutical.
[4:24] Speaker 2: No, that's not true. And all I'm pointing out is
[4:27] Speaker 2: the ramifications of the view. I'm not suggesting that these
[4:31] Speaker 2: are not good teachers. I'm pointing out the ramifications the
[4:35] Speaker 2: logical extension of the view. When Jesus said, a spirit
[4:39] Speaker 2: does not have flesh and bone, as you see that
[4:41] Speaker 2: I have. If Satan had creative power, he could have
[4:46] Speaker 2: masqueraded as the resurrected Christ. I'm simply pointing out the
[4:50] Speaker 2: logical extension of.
[4:52] Speaker 3: Then what do you do with the evidence of the
[4:54] Speaker 3: empty tomb? What do you mean if he could have
[4:57] Speaker 3: resurrected it as the risen Christ, that means Jesus didn't
[5:00] Speaker 3: resurrect from the dead, So what do you do with
[5:03] Speaker 3: the empty tomb?
[5:04] Speaker 4: Well, when I'm pointing out is that Well, I'm.
[5:07] Speaker 2: Trying to answer your question here. I'm saying first of all,
[5:11] Speaker 2: that Jesus Christ suffered fatal torment. I'm saying that the
[5:14] Speaker 2: tomb was empty. That Christianity cannot survive an identifiable tomb
[5:19] Speaker 2: containing the corpse of Christ. So Christ did rise from
[5:22] Speaker 2: the dead, And I'm saying that Christ physically appeared and
[5:25] Speaker 2: gave proofs that he was alive, as depicted by Paul
[5:29] Speaker 2: in One Corinthians chapter fourteen, and that those proofs utterly
[5:33] Speaker 2: transformed the lives of the disciples.
[5:35] Speaker 3: Well, your premise, then, that Satan could have resurrected as
[5:40] Speaker 3: there was in Christ as false.
[5:41] Speaker 2: I'm not saying that I answered that question by saying
[5:43] Speaker 2: I did not say that. I never said that Satan.
[5:46] Speaker 3: That he could have No.
[5:47] Speaker 2: No, I'm saying that if Satan had creative power, he
[5:53] Speaker 2: could have masqueraded as the resurrected Christ. Remember, in a
[5:59] Speaker 2: biblical worldview, Satan can parody what Christ does. He can
[6:03] Speaker 2: never duplicate what Christ does. And the reason for that
[6:08] Speaker 2: is Satan does not have creative power. That is the
[6:13] Speaker 2: province of God alone. But I think, more to the point,
[6:17] Speaker 2: if you go to the passage itself, when men began
[6:19] Speaker 2: to increase in number on the earth and daughters were
[6:23] Speaker 2: born to them. The sons of God saw that the
[6:27] Speaker 2: daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of
[6:31] Speaker 2: them they chose. Then the Lord said, my spirit will
[6:34] Speaker 2: not contend with man forever, for he is mortal. And
[6:39] Speaker 2: then you have judgment on humankind. This is not judgment
[6:43] Speaker 2: on the angelic hosts having sex with women. And I
[6:47] Speaker 2: think the problem here fundamentally is this people want to
[6:51] Speaker 2: read one meaning into a moniker or phrase, or even
[6:56] Speaker 2: sometimes into a word in scripture. And I've said it
[6:59] Speaker 2: many times on this show show. Words are not unifical,
[7:03] Speaker 2: they are equivocal. The children of Israel are called sons
[7:09] Speaker 2: of God in Hoseiah one to ten. You also have
[7:14] Speaker 2: fallen angels referred to as sons of God. By the way,
[7:19] Speaker 2: you have Satan referred to as God. But certainly we
[7:23] Speaker 2: don't think that Satan is God in the ontological sense.
[7:27] Speaker 2: So we need to be very careful that we read
[7:30] Speaker 2: words in the sense in which they are communicated. And
[7:35] Speaker 2: I don't think that there's any sense in this passage
[7:37] Speaker 2: whatsoever that what you have in Genesis is a judgment
[7:44] Speaker 2: on angels having sex with women. I think that is
[7:48] Speaker 2: more in concert with a worldview that is Greek mythology
[7:55] Speaker 2: and orientation than Christian theology. Genesis four is controversial. I
[8:02] Speaker 2: grant that, and as with any difficult section of Scripture,
[8:08] Speaker 2: it has been open to a wide variety of interpretations.
[8:12] Speaker 2: I grant that as well. But it is my conviction
[8:17] Speaker 2: that those who hold consistently to a biblical worldview have
[8:23] Speaker 2: to reject the notion that women and demons can engage
[8:29] Speaker 2: in sexual relations. I reject that as an interjection, however,
[8:37] Speaker 2: unintended of pagan superstition into the scriptures. And I do
[8:43] Speaker 2: so because, as I've just pointed out, the notion that
[8:47] Speaker 2: demons can produce real bodies and have real sex with
[8:52] Speaker 2: real women would invalidate Christ's argument for the authenticity of
[8:58] Speaker 2: his resurrection. Jesus assured his disciples a spirit does not
[9:04] Speaker 2: have flesh and bones, as you see I have, and
[9:09] Speaker 2: if indeed a demon could produce flesh and bones, Christ's
[9:14] Speaker 2: argument would not only be flawed, but it would be misleading.
[9:20] Speaker 2: In fact, it could be logically argued that the disciples
[9:25] Speaker 2: did not see the post resurrection appearances of Christ, but
[9:29] Speaker 2: rather a demon masquerading as the resurrected Christ. Furthermore, demons
[9:36] Speaker 2: are non sexual non physical and therefore are incapable of
[9:43] Speaker 2: having sexual relations and producing physical offspring. To see that
[9:49] Speaker 2: demons are bodies with DNA and fertile sperm is to
[9:57] Speaker 2: say that demons have creative power, which is exclusively divine prerogative.
[10:03] Speaker 2: And if demons could have sex with women, as I
[10:06] Speaker 2: just said, in ancient times, we would have no assurance
[10:09] Speaker 2: they could not do so in modern times, nor would
[10:12] Speaker 2: we have any guarantee that the people we encounter every
[10:15] Speaker 2: day are fully human. While a biblical worldview does allow
[10:20] Speaker 2: for fallen angels to possess unsaved human beings, it doesn't
[10:25] Speaker 2: support the notion that a demon possessed person can produce
[10:29] Speaker 2: offspring that are part demon and part human. Genesis One
[10:34] Speaker 2: makes it crystal clear that all of God's living creatures
[10:39] Speaker 2: are designed to reproduce according to their own Kinds. Have
[10:44] Speaker 2: written about this in detail in the Complete Bible answer
[10:47] Speaker 2: Book Collector's Edition. We also did an in depth journal
[10:51] Speaker 2: article on this very subject, which is accessible to the
[10:54] Speaker 2: Ministry of the Christian Research Institute. Again, we can debate
[10:57] Speaker 2: this vigorously, we don't have to divide over it, but
[11:00] Speaker 2: I think it's a substantial point and it does have
[11:03] Speaker 2: apologetic ramifications. You can access all the information I just
[11:07] Speaker 2: talked about at equipp dot org and we write back

[15:07] Speaker 1: back to the Bible answer Man Broadcast and your host
[15:11] Speaker 1: and Canigraph.
[15:12] Speaker 2: Thank you very much for Andy back to the phone lines.
[15:14] Speaker 2: We'll talk to you Jerry now in Miami, Florida. Hi,
[15:16] Speaker 2: Jerry him glad to talk with you.
[15:18] Speaker 3: I like to know if you just speak basically on
[15:21] Speaker 3: the best method to witness to Muslims.
[15:26] Speaker 2: Well, there's no easy answer. I will say this that
[15:29] Speaker 2: witnessing to a Muslim is no different than witnessing to
[15:34] Speaker 2: someone who is a garden variety pagan witnessing is always
[15:39] Speaker 2: the same. It's the power of the Gospel to change lives.
[15:43] Speaker 2: And the Gospel is relatively simple. It's also so profound
[15:50] Speaker 2: we can drown in it. But we have to recognize
[15:53] Speaker 2: as individuals that we are sinners, and therefore we are
[15:59] Speaker 2: a knee of a savior. We need to be willing
[16:03] Speaker 2: to repent of our sin and receive Jesus Christ as
[16:06] Speaker 2: savior and Lord of our life. Again, that is true
[16:10] Speaker 2: of everyone, regardless of whether they're a Hindu or a
[16:15] Speaker 2: Muslim or involved in the Kingdom of the cults. Now,
[16:20] Speaker 2: Muslims in particular stumble over Jesus Christ because they are
[16:27] Speaker 2: taught in their system that it is the unforgivable sin
[16:33] Speaker 2: of shirk to assign partners to God, and therefore they
[16:39] Speaker 2: think the notion of believing in Jesus Christ is an
[16:43] Speaker 2: unforgivable sin.
[16:45] Speaker 4: If you append to.
[16:47] Speaker 2: Jesus Christ that he is God, that is, in their view,
[16:52] Speaker 2: assigning partners to God. So they deny the essential of
[16:56] Speaker 2: the historic Christian faith that Jesus Christ is wholly divine.
[17:01] Speaker 2: They also deny the resurrection of Jesus Christ. So when
[17:05] Speaker 2: it comes to essential Christian doctrine, they simply miss on
[17:11] Speaker 2: all counts. Now, I want to personally say something about
[17:15] Speaker 2: this as well. This is not necessarily easy. I remember
[17:20] Speaker 2: many years ago leading a Muslim to the Lord named
[17:24] Speaker 2: said that he was from Amman, Jordan. I met him
[17:28] Speaker 2: in a particular city, Birmingham, Alabama. He was there to
[17:31] Speaker 2: visit his brother, and I led him to faith in Christ. Well,
[17:36] Speaker 2: this turned out to be a long project for me,
[17:38] Speaker 2: because he ended up coming to live with us for
[17:40] Speaker 2: over a year and became part of our family, as
[17:43] Speaker 2: it were. I not only baptized him, but I taught
[17:46] Speaker 2: him how to share his faith. And during that year
[17:50] Speaker 2: he would constantly struggle with what he had been so
[17:55] Speaker 2: grounded in. He had memorized two thirds of the Koran,
[17:58] Speaker 2: been so grounded to the Muslim worldview that sometimes it
[18:01] Speaker 2: was hard for him to separate that in his thinking,
[18:06] Speaker 2: and so it wasn't an easy thing, but it was
[18:09] Speaker 2: one of the most worthwhile things I've ever had the
[18:12] Speaker 2: opportunity to do.
[18:13] Speaker 4: Along with my family.
[18:14] Speaker 2: Has become a lifelong friend, and he is now back
[18:17] Speaker 2: and I'm on Jordan and hopefully being a reproducing disciple maker,
[18:23] Speaker 2: because we are not just called to win a convert,
[18:26] Speaker 2: but to make reproducing disciple makers so that they in
[18:31] Speaker 2: turn can multiply and extend the Kingdom of God, not
[18:35] Speaker 2: by might nor by power, but by his spirit.
[18:39] Speaker 4: Back to the phone lines. Next up is Kenny in Cleveland, Tennessee.
[18:42] Speaker 2: Hi, Kenny, Hey, Hey, how you doing.
[18:45] Speaker 4: I'm doing well. Thank you.
[18:47] Speaker 6: Got your Christianity and Kraft's twenty century started only a
[18:51] Speaker 6: very informative I had the complete answer book, and I
[18:54] Speaker 6: had a friend that was having trouble, so I give
[18:57] Speaker 6: it to him and told him three study and we
[19:01] Speaker 6: refer to it and really enjoy your books. Great work,
[19:05] Speaker 6: and I'm just going to get your outlook on a
[19:08] Speaker 6: our flip channel is a lot when I have nothing
[19:11] Speaker 6: to do and the big major names come out, I'll
[19:16] Speaker 6: just say first names. But one's Kenneth and One's mic
[19:20] Speaker 6: and really upsets me in a way to watch him,
[19:24] Speaker 6: because I actually stopped and watch this mic guide the
[19:28] Speaker 6: other night, and he's taking a Bible and rubbing it
[19:31] Speaker 6: up and down the sides of his face like a
[19:33] Speaker 6: cat on a scratching pole, and talking about if you'll
[19:37] Speaker 6: send fifty eight dollars feed and use your credit card,
[19:41] Speaker 6: and you know, he helpinged up doors for him and
[19:44] Speaker 6: he got new for beds and mercedes from people. Just
[19:48] Speaker 6: kind of really upsets me to see this stuff because
[19:51] Speaker 6: people that don't know no better may be running credit
[19:54] Speaker 6: card builds up on the false profit basically the way
[19:57] Speaker 6: I look.
[19:57] Speaker 2: At it, not only maybe, but are and I don't
[20:00] Speaker 2: mind using the last names you're talking about Kenneth Copeland,
[20:04] Speaker 2: no doubt in Mike Murdoch, but yeah, I mean the
[20:06] Speaker 2: reason I know that is because this is precisely what
[20:10] Speaker 2: Mike Murdoch is saying. Delayed obedience becomes disobedience. And then
[20:15] Speaker 2: he says, I've asked the Holy Spirit Father, give me
[20:20] Speaker 2: three thousand miracles for people who will set aside fifty
[20:25] Speaker 2: eight dollars each month for twelve months. If what I
[20:29] Speaker 2: said about sowing and reaping is the word of God.
[20:32] Speaker 2: I decreed twelve months of miracles, uncommon health, uncommon wisdom,
[20:39] Speaker 2: uncommon financial favor, family reconciliation. In Jesus name, it is done.
[20:45] Speaker 2: And I think, particularly in the area of financial favor,
[20:48] Speaker 2: the only one's going to find it is him, because
[20:51] Speaker 2: he's manipulating people in the most crass and corrupt way imaginable,
[20:58] Speaker 2: and he is abusive the word of God in the process.
[21:02] Speaker 2: You mentioned my book Christianity in Crisis twenty first century.
[21:06] Speaker 2: In principle I deal with this. There are all kinds
[21:09] Speaker 2: of prosperity cons on the horizon today, and it would
[21:14] Speaker 2: be well for God's people to be so familiar with
[21:17] Speaker 2: the truth once again, they would recognize this counterfeit as
[21:21] Speaker 2: he looms ominously on the horizon of your television program.
[21:26] Speaker 2: Want to go back to the phone lines. Talk to Ron.
[21:28] Speaker 4: He's listening on the web in Prescott, Arizona.
[21:31] Speaker 6: Hi.
[21:31] Speaker 7: Ron, Good evening, Hank. My question is, if the charisma
[21:36] Speaker 7: gifts of First Corinthians twelve are for today, should every
[21:42] Speaker 7: church have some members in it who exercise those gifts
[21:46] Speaker 7: or does the Holy Spirit only give those gifts to
[21:49] Speaker 7: churches who want them?
[21:51] Speaker 2: What I would say is that the gifts are available
[21:56] Speaker 2: but not normative. And what I mean by that is
[21:59] Speaker 2: the Holy Spirit, who work those gifts through the lies
[22:02] Speaker 2: of human beings, could theoretically continue to do that today,
[22:08] Speaker 2: but we can know for certain that these gifts are
[22:12] Speaker 2: not normative. For example, the gift of miracles would not
[22:15] Speaker 2: be a gift that you would suppose to be a
[22:19] Speaker 2: normative gift for today. If it was normative, we wouldn't
[22:23] Speaker 2: call the miracles. Jesus Christ and the apostles were able
[22:28] Speaker 2: to work miracles, and those miracles authenticated who they were,
[22:34] Speaker 2: as the very ones who gave us the word of God,
[22:37] Speaker 2: and of course the very one who is the cornerstone
[22:41] Speaker 2: of the Christian Church. He is the head of which
[22:43] Speaker 2: we are the bride, we are the body.
[22:46] Speaker 7: So you would say that those gifts, if given, are
[22:49] Speaker 7: given very seldom and in a limited way, not in
[22:56] Speaker 7: the same way as they were given in the first century.
[22:58] Speaker 2: Then I wouldn't say that exactly those words, but that's
[23:01] Speaker 2: the gist of what I would say. I'm saying that
[23:04] Speaker 2: those gifts are not normative, but I would never suggest
[23:07] Speaker 2: that God could not supernaturally intervene in time and space
[23:12] Speaker 2: today and even resurrect someone from the dead. But that
[23:16] Speaker 2: is not the normative case. In fact, we have Moses
[23:21] Speaker 2: in the prophets of Jesus Christ. If we do not
[23:24] Speaker 2: believe them, we will not believe even if someone rises
[23:28] Speaker 2: from the dead. So we have everything necessary for faith
[23:33] Speaker 2: and practice. We don't need a supernatural sign. We have
[23:39] Speaker 2: the supernatural sign. In fact, we have the ultimate sign,
[23:43] Speaker 2: the resurrection of Jesus Christ. If you can't believe that,
[23:47] Speaker 2: as Jesus Christ rightly said, you wouldn't believe even if
[23:50] Speaker 2: someone appeared to you in the flesh, even if someone
[23:53] Speaker 2: rose from the dead again today, it wouldn't be enough
[23:56] Speaker 2: for you. Because we have all the evidence to build
[23:59] Speaker 2: a cumuative case for the greatest event in human history,
[24:02] Speaker 2: the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which ensures our resurrection as well.
[24:07] Speaker 2: And this resurrection is so well documented that the believers,
[24:12] Speaker 2: the followers of Christ, who were scared and scattered, became
[24:15] Speaker 2: lions of the faith because they had seen their Lord die,
[24:20] Speaker 2: and they had seen him overcome death and the grave,
[24:24] Speaker 2: and they knew they too would overcome death and the grave.
[24:27] Speaker 2: And as a result of that, they were valiant, and
[24:30] Speaker 2: they turned an empire upside down. Hopefully we can learn
[24:34] Speaker 2: from that lesson. When I was in China, I saw
[24:37] Speaker 2: men and women who had been imprisoned for their faith,
[24:43] Speaker 2: and I thought, wow, I'm not worthy to wash their feet.
[24:49] Speaker 2: These were people who had suffered incredible horrors, and yet
[24:56] Speaker 2: without an ounce of self pity, thanking the Lord for
[25:02] Speaker 2: his sovereign arrangement to allow them to live in the
[25:07] Speaker 2: most horrid of circumstances for his namesake and for the Gospel.
[25:12] Speaker 2: They were truly those who were living with eternity in mind.
[25:17] Speaker 2: And therefore they're having a tremendous impact in China, people
[25:23] Speaker 2: coming to faith in Christ, the Church growing rapidly, Christianity
[25:30] Speaker 2: taking root. Why because people didn't just say they believed
[25:35] Speaker 2: in resurrection. They actually are living resurrection. In fact, more
[25:42] Speaker 2: properly stated, they're living the crucified life. They're not just
[25:48] Speaker 2: talking about theological precision, which is necessary when we come
[25:53] Speaker 2: to a central Christian doctrine, but they're experiencing Christ. They're
[25:58] Speaker 2: touching Christ, and the real of touching Christ has allowed
[26:02] Speaker 2: them to say I no longer live Christ lives through me,
[26:06] Speaker 2: and they're turning a world upside down. Even as we

[27:13] Speaker 1: the Western Church, Islam is now the fastest growing religion.
[27:17] Speaker 4: In the world.
[27:18] Speaker 1: This means that it's not simply enough to be aware
[27:20] Speaker 1: of this threat. Christians need to wake up, stand up,
[27:24] Speaker 1: and speak up. This means being able to counter the
