[0:07] Speaker 1: Welcome to the Bible answer Man Broadcast with Christian Research
[0:11] Speaker 1: Institute President Hank Canigraph. Our mission at CRII is not
[0:15] Speaker 1: only to equip you with Christian doctrine, apologetic accuracy, and discernment,
[0:20] Speaker 1: but to help you become a faithful apprentice of Jesus Christ,
[0:24] Speaker 1: because life and truth matter. If you'd like to know
[0:28] Speaker 1: more about CRII and the Bible answer Man Broadcast called
[0:32] Speaker 1: eight eight eight seven thousand CRII eight eight eight seven
[0:36] Speaker 1: thousand CRII, or go to our website at equip dot org.
[0:41] Speaker 1: That's equip dot org. The following program was pre recorded
[0:47] Speaker 1: and now here's Hank Canigraph.
[0:49] Speaker 2: Thank very much, Randy. And before we go to our
[0:52] Speaker 2: callers today, I want to give you a quote. It's
[0:54] Speaker 2: actually an epigraph in my book has got spoken and
[0:59] Speaker 2: it's so and I'm going to let it speak for
[1:02] Speaker 2: itself and then we'll go to our callers. Here's the quote.
[1:05] Speaker 2: It's by the statesman Daniel Webster, and he said this,
[1:12] Speaker 2: if we abide by the principles taught in the Bible,
[1:18] Speaker 2: our country will go on prospering and to prosper. But
[1:27] Speaker 2: if we and our posterity neglect its instructions, neglect its authority.
[1:35] Speaker 2: No man can tell how sudden a catastrophe may overwhelm
[1:42] Speaker 2: us and bury all our glory in profound obscurity. So
[1:51] Speaker 2: when I asked the question and answer it my book,
[1:53] Speaker 2: Has God Spoken? I'm talking about not just a important issue.
[2:00] Speaker 2: We are talking about God's revelation. Is it fallible or
[2:05] Speaker 2: is it infallible? And how important is it for us
[2:12] Speaker 2: to learn to read the Word of God for all
[2:16] Speaker 2: it's worth, to mine it for all its wealth. If
[2:22] Speaker 2: you love the ring of truth, stand with this ministry
[2:25] Speaker 2: perfectly and financially. We will not compromise. We will not retreat,
[2:33] Speaker 2: because truth matters. It's one of the reasons I wrote
[2:37] Speaker 2: has God Spoken? Proof of the Bible's divine inspiration. I
[2:41] Speaker 2: believe the Bible to be the infallible repository of redemptive revelation,
[2:47] Speaker 2: and I think it's critical that we learn to read
[2:49] Speaker 2: that Bible correctly, properly, literally, recognizing the literal principle of
[2:58] Speaker 2: biblical interpretation. I also think that it's important that we
[3:03] Speaker 2: stand together on essential Christian doctrine. There are secondary issues
[3:08] Speaker 2: we can debate, and iron sharpens iron, but there's no
[3:13] Speaker 2: need for unnecessary rancor within the body of Christ. The
[3:21] Speaker 2: Book has God Spoken available for your gift to the
[3:23] Speaker 2: ministry on the worldwide webit equipped dot org when you
[3:28] Speaker 2: write me a post office box eighty five hundred Charlotte,
[3:30] Speaker 2: North Carolina, zip code two eight two seven one, and
[3:33] Speaker 2: when you talk to our resource consultants at triple eight
[3:39] Speaker 2: seven thousand CRI. Let's go to the phone lines. First
[3:44] Speaker 2: up is Samantha in Fresno, California. High Samantha, I think,
[3:48] Speaker 2: thanks for taking my call.
[3:51] Speaker 3: Okay, so can you tell me whose way? I've heard
[3:54] Speaker 3: that the earth is six thousand years old ten thousand
[3:57] Speaker 3: and thirteen point four billions, So who's right?
[4:03] Speaker 2: Well, I think to answer that question, what you have
[4:05] Speaker 2: to do is you need to recognize that God has
[4:11] Speaker 2: left clues in the world that He has made. His
[4:14] Speaker 2: invisible qualities, his divine nature, his eternal power are clearly
[4:20] Speaker 2: seen in what has been made, said Paul in Romans,
[4:23] Speaker 2: so that men are without excuse. So God has left
[4:27] Speaker 2: us clues as to the age of the Earth. Now
[4:32] Speaker 2: there are people that say that the earth is six
[4:35] Speaker 2: thousand years old, and they do that by trying to
[4:38] Speaker 2: figure out the genealogies in genesis predominantly, and through that
[4:44] Speaker 2: they come up with a time grid that they can
[4:48] Speaker 2: measure from the time of atom to the time of
[4:51] Speaker 2: the second atom Jesus Christ. The problem with that is
[4:55] Speaker 2: that genealogies are incomplete, and we know that by testing
[5:00] Speaker 2: scripture in light of scripture. In fact, I've actually laid
[5:04] Speaker 2: this out into Creation answer Book. But one thing we
[5:08] Speaker 2: can say is you cannot tell on the basis of
[5:11] Speaker 2: the Bible that the world is six thousand years old. Now,
[5:16] Speaker 2: if you look at the world that God has made,
[5:18] Speaker 2: there are some clues that the Earth may be older
[5:21] Speaker 2: than that. For example, we face the reality that nothing
[5:26] Speaker 2: travels faster than the speed of light, and that billions
[5:31] Speaker 2: of light years separate us from distant galaxies, and that
[5:35] Speaker 2: leads logically to the assumption that the age of the
[5:38] Speaker 2: universe is measured in billions rather than thousands of years.
[5:44] Speaker 2: There are other things we can look at as well,
[5:46] Speaker 2: like star life. Star life doesn't demand a lot of conjecture, Samantha.
[5:52] Speaker 2: You can look at a star being born as it were.
[5:55] Speaker 2: You can see a star in midlife, and you can
[5:58] Speaker 2: see a white dwarf star or a star that has
[6:02] Speaker 2: burned out, a dead star for all practical purposes, and
[6:07] Speaker 2: when you look at those stars, you can start to
[6:09] Speaker 2: measure how long it takes for a star to go
[6:12] Speaker 2: from infancy or birth to becoming a white dwarf star,
[6:17] Speaker 2: and that gives you a time parameter as well. There
[6:20] Speaker 2: are other things that people can do to get an
[6:23] Speaker 2: idea of age, and that is look at the squential
[6:27] Speaker 2: layers in the formation of ice cores in places like
[6:30] Speaker 2: Antarctica in Greenland, and they seem to point to an
[6:34] Speaker 2: Earth that is older than six thousand years as well.
[6:37] Speaker 2: So again, these clues are clues that we need to
[6:40] Speaker 2: take seriously, and in the process we need to make
[6:43] Speaker 2: sure that we don't make arguments that compromise historical apologetics.
[6:48] Speaker 2: And what I mean by that is there are ways
[6:51] Speaker 2: in which we demonstrate certain things to be true. The
[6:55] Speaker 2: resurrection of Jesus Christ would be a great case in point.
[7:00] Speaker 2: We believe the resurrection of Jesus Christ is something that
[7:03] Speaker 2: we can show through a defense of the faith. Through
[7:07] Speaker 2: historical apologetics, we could build a cumulative case for it
[7:11] Speaker 2: so that we can know that we know that we
[7:14] Speaker 2: know that Jesus rose from the dead, and we too
[7:16] Speaker 2: arise from the dead. But if we start making arguments
[7:20] Speaker 2: for the age of the earth that eliminate constancy and nature,
[7:25] Speaker 2: for example, then what we come up with is an
[7:30] Speaker 2: argument against historical apologetics, which can now be used as
[7:36] Speaker 2: the double edge of a sword against the Christian faith.
[7:40] Speaker 2: So we have to be very careful about using the
[7:44] Speaker 2: right kinds of arguments that correspond to reality. How old
[7:49] Speaker 2: are you, by the way, Samantha, e oh, eleven? Wow?
[7:52] Speaker 2: So these are things. I mean, this is a great
[7:54] Speaker 2: time for you at eleven years of age to do
[7:57] Speaker 2: a couple of things. One is to be careful to
[8:01] Speaker 2: learn how to read the Bible so that you don't
[8:04] Speaker 2: read unintended meanings into the text, that you don't superimpose
[8:09] Speaker 2: your ideas on the text, but that you actually get
[8:12] Speaker 2: from the text what the author is communicating, because the
[8:16] Speaker 2: author ultimately is God. And the second thing is we
[8:20] Speaker 2: have to do every discipline that God gives us to
[8:23] Speaker 2: do well, whether it's arithmetic or science, whether it is
[8:29] Speaker 2: biology or social studies. We have to be at the
[8:32] Speaker 2: forefront as Christians. We need to be at the lead
[8:36] Speaker 2: as Christians using our mind the gifts God has given
[8:41] Speaker 2: us so that we can reach the world. Because Ultimately,
[8:44] Speaker 2: the truth, Samantha, is this that every single person is
[8:50] Speaker 2: either going to spend an eternity with Jesus Christ or
[8:54] Speaker 2: an eternity apart from Jesus Christ. And that's the real issue.
[8:58] Speaker 2: So we need to be Carefulon is always ready to
[9:01] Speaker 2: give an answer, a reason for the hope that lies
[9:03] Speaker 2: within us, with gentleness and with respect, and we should
[9:07] Speaker 2: never compromise. For example, people that believe in theistic evolution
[9:11] Speaker 2: are making a big compromise because the evolutionary paradigm does
[9:16] Speaker 2: not correspond to reality. And that's what truth is, that
[9:19] Speaker 2: which corresponds to reality. Evolutions simply cannot stand in the
[9:23] Speaker 2: face of scientific enlightenment. And yet people hold it because
[9:27] Speaker 2: they don't want to be accountable to God. Ultimately, they
[9:31] Speaker 2: want to do things their own way. But God has
[9:35] Speaker 2: made clear to us that if we do things His way,
[9:39] Speaker 2: we'll have peace in the midst of life storms, and
[9:42] Speaker 2: we'll have a time in which God recreates the universe,
[9:47] Speaker 2: a new heaven and a new Earth, wherein dwells righteousness,
[9:50] Speaker 2: no more death, mourning, crying, or pain, for the older
[9:52] Speaker 2: things will have passed away. Behold, all things are new.
[9:55] Speaker 2: So at eleven years of age. You can start making
[9:58] Speaker 2: a huge, huge differenceance by learning and always being ready
[10:03] Speaker 2: to give an answer. Okay, does that help? Yes?
[10:07] Speaker 1: Help?
[10:08] Speaker 2: Thank you, Samantha, Thank you so much for calling. And
[10:11] Speaker 2: I am as the father of twelve children. I love
[10:16] Speaker 2: to answer my kids questions. I love to see them equipped.
[10:21] Speaker 2: My daughter, Christina is probably a better apologist than I am.
[10:24] Speaker 2: Quite frankly, she's really studied to show herself approved. And
[10:29] Speaker 2: she's not trying to answer questions because she wants to
[10:31] Speaker 2: win arguments. She's answering questions because she wants to reach people,
[10:37] Speaker 2: and she cares deeply about the souls of people, and
[10:41] Speaker 2: so she's equipping herself. She's preparing herself so she can
[10:44] Speaker 2: have a life that doesn't just mark time, but makes
[10:47] Speaker 2: a difference. And all of us should be preparing ourselves
[10:53] Speaker 2: to do that, because God gives all of us a
[10:56] Speaker 2: sphere of influence, and we want to be prepared within
[10:59] Speaker 2: that sphere of influence to make a difference. And only
[11:02] Speaker 2: from the perspective of eternity will people fully know how
[11:05] Speaker 2: their lives can be used for His goodness and his glory,
[11:08] Speaker 2: because then we'll see the reward. We'll be back in
[11:11] Speaker 2: just a few moments with more of your questions.

[12:02] Speaker 1: the Christian flock is growing, and they relish nothing more
[12:06] Speaker 1: than docile's sheep, utterly incapable of defending themselves from militant
[12:11] Speaker 1: secularists at home to militant Islamists abroad. The assaults on
[12:15] Speaker 1: biblical Christianity are growing dangerously, but Christian Research Institutes Support
[12:20] Speaker 1: Team members aren't in favor of feeding these wolves. Instead,
[12:24] Speaker 1: each day they're making possible an array of outreaches that

[13:23] Speaker 1: answers what is surely the most important question facing our world.

[15:10] Speaker 2: Randy Ragnick to our phone callers. Next up is Eddie
[15:12] Speaker 2: in Nashville, Tennessee.
[15:13] Speaker 4: Hiati, I, Hank, I enjoy your show. Even though I'm
[15:18] Speaker 4: not a Christian, I think you do a good job
[15:20] Speaker 4: with what you do.
[15:21] Speaker 2: Thank you.
[15:21] Speaker 4: It's not difficult for me to see why ken Ham
[15:24] Speaker 4: would be put out with the notion that acknowledging a
[15:28] Speaker 4: billions of years old universe with animals before humans and
[15:34] Speaker 4: effect preceding cause would be troublesome to him and many
[15:41] Speaker 4: other fundamentalists. And I think of Henry Morris with the
[15:44] Speaker 4: Creation Research Institute, and as somebody outside who disagrees, I
[15:49] Speaker 4: really have to suicide with the creationists and say that
[15:53] Speaker 4: if it's not the straightforward way that it's been presented
[15:58] Speaker 4: for all these years and understood, but once you find
[16:01] Speaker 4: things that sort of collapse or you have to work around,
[16:05] Speaker 4: like the Old Age of the universe, you know, I
[16:07] Speaker 4: can see where people would say that's most of the
[16:10] Speaker 4: way to evolution. It's not hard to see why he
[16:14] Speaker 4: would object. And I guess the b part of this
[16:16] Speaker 4: is simply that from an outsider who often argues with Christians,
[16:22] Speaker 4: it's not hard to pick y'all off when there are
[16:25] Speaker 4: so many divergent opinions on what fairly straightforward things like
[16:31] Speaker 4: Genesis one mean.
[16:32] Speaker 2: Well, I don't know if it's straightforward to a lot
[16:35] Speaker 2: of people, unfortunately, because they haven't learned the art and
[16:37] Speaker 2: science of biblical interpretation, and therefore they're reading meanings of
[16:41] Speaker 2: the passage that the passage isn't intended to communicate. But
[16:44] Speaker 2: remember the age of the universe does not help the evolutionists.
[16:49] Speaker 2: To say the Earth is billions of years old doesn't
[16:52] Speaker 2: help the evolutionists in.
[16:54] Speaker 4: The least because microevolution is apparent to anyone who knows
[16:58] Speaker 4: about germs, and with millions of years, you do have
[17:01] Speaker 4: time for much larger shifts in form.
[17:05] Speaker 2: No, you simply don't.
[17:06] Speaker 4: It's one of the basis of their argument is at
[17:08] Speaker 4: this time.
[17:08] Speaker 2: No, you simply don't. That's simply wrong. You couldn't form
[17:12] Speaker 2: a simple protein molecule through random variations shifting out natural
[17:17] Speaker 2: solich you as well as.
[17:18] Speaker 4: I know that people of goodwill, of good faith, with
[17:21] Speaker 4: good knowledge argue both sides of that question. It's not
[17:26] Speaker 4: as though they're making an up out of whole cloth.
[17:28] Speaker 2: I think they are. I think they are. I mean,
[17:31] Speaker 2: this is not a hard thing to figure out. Mathematically.
[17:34] Speaker 2: The probability of a single protein molecule being arranged by
[17:39] Speaker 2: chance is statistically one in ten, with one hundred and
[17:44] Speaker 2: sixty one zeros behind it. And that's using.
[17:47] Speaker 4: On how molecules behave in the long run, and obviously
[17:50] Speaker 4: we're not going to solve that whole debate right here,
[17:53] Speaker 4: better you know, mind than well.
[17:55] Speaker 2: What I'm simply saying is that there is not enough
[17:57] Speaker 2: time for evolution to work. There's ample evidence that evolution
[18:04] Speaker 2: cannot stand in an age of scientific enlightenment. And this
[18:07] Speaker 2: is one of the reasons why I have been so
[18:10] Speaker 2: strongly voicing my disgust for theistic evolution. I think when
[18:16] Speaker 2: the evolutionary paradigm is ready for a fall, because we
[18:21] Speaker 2: live in an age of scientific enlightenment, people are trying
[18:24] Speaker 2: to prop it up with false notions like theistic evolution,
[18:28] Speaker 2: and I think it's the worst of all possibilities. Quite frankly,
[18:32] Speaker 2: if you want to believe in evolution, believe in evolution,
[18:35] Speaker 2: but don't blame God for it. It flies in the face.
[18:38] Speaker 2: And we're talking obviously about macroevolution here, not microevolution. But
[18:42] Speaker 2: it flies in face of the facts. The fossil record
[18:46] Speaker 2: simply says no ape men. Fiction, frauds and fantasies abound.
[18:52] Speaker 2: I was looking at USA today, they were trying to
[18:54] Speaker 2: argue the evolutionary paradigm. In there you see the ape
[18:57] Speaker 2: man icon again. Chance has no chance, As I said,
[19:01] Speaker 2: to form a simple protein molecule by random processes, much
[19:06] Speaker 2: less a cell or a chimp. The Earth, the cosmos
[19:11] Speaker 2: itself screams out that there is an intelligent designer. Every
[19:16] Speaker 2: effect has to have a cause equal to or greater
[19:19] Speaker 2: than itself. The basic laws of science, not to mention,
[19:24] Speaker 2: common sense, fly in the face of this notion that's
[19:29] Speaker 2: being purported. Evolution simply doesn't stand in an age of
[19:35] Speaker 2: scientific enlightenment. We'll talk next to Chad listening in Salem, Virginia. Hi, Chad, Hi, Yank,
[19:42] Speaker 2: How are you good?
[19:43] Speaker 4: How are you super?
[19:45] Speaker 5: Hey?
[19:45] Speaker 6: I was just breeding and John here and in John
[19:48] Speaker 6: twenty one, when you know, after Jesus resurrection and everything,
[19:53] Speaker 6: and in starting in verse fifteen, when they had finished eating,
[19:57] Speaker 6: Jesus said to Simon, Peter, Simon, son of John, do
[20:00] Speaker 6: you truly love any more than these?
[20:03] Speaker 2: Yes?
[20:03] Speaker 6: Lord, he said, you know that.
[20:05] Speaker 4: I love you.
[20:06] Speaker 6: Jesus said, feed my lambs, and then Jesus went on
[20:11] Speaker 6: to do that three times.
[20:13] Speaker 4: What is this? What does that mean?
[20:16] Speaker 6: And what is the significance of that? And what is it?
[20:19] Speaker 4: What can I learn from that?
[20:20] Speaker 5: Well?
[20:21] Speaker 2: I think we can learn something from everything in scripture.
[20:23] Speaker 2: But this takes some theological deduction. I don't know that
[20:27] Speaker 2: the Bible ever tells us precisely why Jesus did this
[20:31] Speaker 2: three times, but I've certainly correlated this directly to the
[20:35] Speaker 2: fact that Peter denied his Lord three times, and so
[20:40] Speaker 2: I think that perhaps that has something to do with it,
[20:42] Speaker 2: But again that speculation on my part. I want to
[20:45] Speaker 2: go back to the phone lines. Talk to James in Vancouver,
[20:48] Speaker 2: British Columbia, Canada.
[20:49] Speaker 5: Hi, James, I thank you so much for taking my call.
[20:52] Speaker 2: My pleasure.
[20:53] Speaker 5: You know, I was twing to my grandson. He's nine
[20:56] Speaker 5: years old, and it was a general discussion to begin with,
[20:59] Speaker 5: but he got specific on the fall of Adam, and
[21:04] Speaker 5: the general discussion was from Genesis to revelation. God has
[21:09] Speaker 5: ordained a sort of a commandment or a law that
[21:13] Speaker 5: all things must be tested and proven. And Adam and
[21:18] Speaker 5: Eve were put in the garden, and Satan was also there,
[21:22] Speaker 5: and the trees were there. God was proving to us.
[21:28] Speaker 5: I'm sure so many things, but I'm not really so sure.
[21:32] Speaker 5: So I've good, indeed help from you and many others,
[21:36] Speaker 5: whosoever can help me. What was God proving about himself?
[21:41] Speaker 5: Because his pertinent question was if God made Adam and
[21:47] Speaker 5: Adam and Eve fell. Then God made Adam and Eve
[21:52] Speaker 5: with a flaw, or did he make them good or perfect?
[21:57] Speaker 5: Or you know? So I said, let me just prob
[21:59] Speaker 5: and get back to him.
[22:01] Speaker 2: Yeah, and what a wonderful thing for you to do
[22:03] Speaker 2: research and return so you can equip your nine year old,
[22:07] Speaker 2: is it, grandson? You said, yeah, Well, here's what's going on.
[22:10] Speaker 2: God created humankind with what's called volition, which means human
[22:17] Speaker 2: beings had will, so that Adam had the ability to
[22:23] Speaker 2: choose to love God or to choose to reject God,
[22:28] Speaker 2: to sin against God. So God creates the potential for
[22:34] Speaker 2: evil by creating this human being that has the ability
[22:43] Speaker 2: to choose to follow him or to reject his precepts.
[22:48] Speaker 2: But if God had not done that, love would be
[22:50] Speaker 2: rendered meaningless because for love to be meaningful, there has
[22:56] Speaker 2: to be choice. So God again, and you have to
[23:00] Speaker 2: be very careful here with what I'm saying, and particularly
[23:03] Speaker 2: as you're explaining it to your nine year old grandson.
[23:06] Speaker 2: God does not create evil, but he does create the
[23:10] Speaker 2: potential for evil my giving human beings the opportunity to choose.
[23:18] Speaker 2: Adam and Eve sinned. The beautiful story that unfolds from
[23:24] Speaker 2: Genesis to Revelation is God's plan of redemption so that
[23:29] Speaker 2: God gives us an opportunity yet to be reconciled to himself.
[23:34] Speaker 2: So that is what the biblical message is about. It
[23:36] Speaker 2: is about God's unfolding plan of redemption so that we
[23:41] Speaker 2: can be reconciled to a holy, righteous God whose eyes
[23:45] Speaker 2: are too pure to look on sin, who cannot tolerate evil.
[23:49] Speaker 5: Well, you know, basically I asked him the same question,
[23:53] Speaker 5: how would you love me? Unless you know? This is
[23:57] Speaker 5: what God is showing that he gave you the person
[24:00] Speaker 5: to fall or make a mistake, and then to prove
[24:04] Speaker 5: my love to you, I let you fall in a way.
[24:08] Speaker 5: Would that be okay?
[24:09] Speaker 2: Yeah? I think so. I mean, it's the basic idea.
[24:12] Speaker 2: You have the opportunity to choose, and Adam chose to rebel,
[24:17] Speaker 2: and yet God so wants fellowship with humankind that he
[24:24] Speaker 2: provided a way of redemption that will ultimately lead to
[24:28] Speaker 2: the best of all possible worlds, a world in which
[24:30] Speaker 2: we will forever be able not to sin.
[24:33] Speaker 5: So the question is, had I, meaning Adam or my grandson,
[24:39] Speaker 5: had I not fallen, I would never know God's love?
[24:43] Speaker 2: Then, well, no, I wouldn't say that Adam and Eve
[24:47] Speaker 2: did experience God's love. Adam and Eve, to use the
[24:51] Speaker 2: biblical language, walked in the cool of the day with God.
[24:54] Speaker 2: Now that doesn't mean God has feet. It means that
[24:56] Speaker 2: they had fellowship, loving relationship with God. That relationship is
[25:02] Speaker 2: severed by sin and it is restored through redemption. So
[25:08] Speaker 2: God yet loved humankind so much he was willing to
[25:13] Speaker 2: provide a way of redemption away of return.
[25:17] Speaker 5: Okay, well you know he because the question also brought
[25:22] Speaker 5: out something that Christ hung on the cross, and he says,
[25:25] Speaker 5: forgive them, for they know not what they do. And
[25:28] Speaker 5: the teaching of Christ was coming up that a fig
[25:32] Speaker 5: tree can only give fis. It cannot give mangos and pineapples.
[25:37] Speaker 5: So you know, when Adam was made, he was made
[25:41] Speaker 5: with the option. Sure, the choice, But why would you
[25:44] Speaker 5: just choose not to follow God and obey his word
[25:49] Speaker 5: of not eating from that tree?
[25:51] Speaker 2: Well that's a question you and I can ask ourselves
[25:53] Speaker 2: every single day. Yeah, because every single day, every single day,
[25:59] Speaker 2: even though we know and love God, we still violate
[26:03] Speaker 2: his commands and bigot small ways. Right.
[26:06] Speaker 5: Well, thank you so much, Sam God.
