[0:15] Speaker 1: Hank as President of the Christian Research Institute at CRI,
[0:19] Speaker 1: our desire is to equip you not only to defend
[0:22] Speaker 1: the historic Christian faith, but to become a winsome witness
[0:26] Speaker 1: to a spiritually hungry but skeptical world, because life and
[0:31] Speaker 1: truth matter. To learn more or to find resources to
[0:34] Speaker 1: help you grow in grace, call eight eight eight seven

[0:49] Speaker 1: now here's Hank.

[1:09] Speaker 3: eight seven thousand and the letter CRI. June is the
[1:14] Speaker 3: end of our fiscal year. This is always a make
[1:18] Speaker 3: it or break it month for the Ministry of the
[1:20] Speaker 3: Christian Research Institute, and in years gone by, people have
[1:25] Speaker 3: responded gloriously in the month of June, and we have
[1:30] Speaker 3: been able to end our fiscal year in a good state,
[1:34] Speaker 3: and we pray that people respond again. The need is great,
[1:39] Speaker 3: and so we would ask you to perfectly consider supporting
[1:42] Speaker 3: this ministry. If you've given once, well, please consider giving again.
[1:48] Speaker 3: If you've never given, it would be my privilege to
[1:52] Speaker 3: invite you to join us as we stand shoulder to
[1:57] Speaker 3: shoulder together in the battle for life and truth. Never
[2:02] Speaker 3: has it been more important for Christians to stand together
[2:08] Speaker 3: against not only the insistent forces of secularism, but against
[2:17] Speaker 3: the invading forces of Islam and other world religions that
[2:23] Speaker 3: seek to undermine the very foundation of Western civilization. And
[2:29] Speaker 3: so again it's my privilege to ask you to join us,
[2:34] Speaker 3: stand shoulder to shoulder with us, and if you can
[2:38] Speaker 3: consider becoming a member of the support team. When you do,

[2:56] Speaker 3: and we make those available to not only a equip you,
[3:01] Speaker 3: but also to encourage you to give to this one
[3:05] Speaker 3: of a kind ministry.
[3:06] Speaker 2: Outreach.
[3:07] Speaker 3: This ministry is having an impact all over the world.
[3:10] Speaker 3: So many people told stories about how this ministry has
[3:14] Speaker 3: been transformational in their lives, and those that support the
[3:20] Speaker 3: ministry have a part to play in that. Nathan wrote
[3:23] Speaker 3: me and said, I teach sixth grade Sunday School and
[3:27] Speaker 3: help facilitate a men's Bible study, but without the resources
[3:31] Speaker 3: the Christian Research Institute, my preparation, my content, my message
[3:37] Speaker 3: to both of these diverse groups would be sorely missing.
[3:41] Speaker 3: Many thanks to the CRI team. A note from Joe
[3:44] Speaker 3: who says, I've had the privilege of being part of
[3:47] Speaker 3: the ongoing work at the Christian Research Institute for a
[3:49] Speaker 3: few years now. I'm very passionate of my sacrificial giving
[3:56] Speaker 3: to the ministry, as it has helped me tremendously my
[4:00] Speaker 3: walk with the Lord. Over the years of listening to
[4:03] Speaker 3: Hank and reading the materials put forth by the Christian
[4:06] Speaker 3: Research Institute, I have grown substantially in my ability to
[4:11] Speaker 3: defend the faith once for all delivered to the Saints,
[4:14] Speaker 3: and have learned many discernment skills. I purchased the Complete
[4:19] Speaker 3: Bible answer Book Collector's edition early this year, and when
[4:23] Speaker 3: my wife and I received it, we were overjoyed. It
[4:26] Speaker 3: is truly a masterpiece and a tool that no Christian
[4:30] Speaker 3: home should be without. When other letter of this from Bryce,
[4:35] Speaker 3: I am thankful for the ministry of the Christian Research
[4:38] Speaker 3: Institute because we live in a day, in an age
[4:41] Speaker 3: where increasing attacks on the credibility of the Bible and
[4:45] Speaker 3: the Christian faith by well educated people is commonplace. Well,
[4:52] Speaker 3: what Bryce is saying is so true. I'm thinking about
[4:56] Speaker 3: an article in the Christian Research Journal. It's an article
[4:59] Speaker 3: about Morgan Freeman. He is probably the most famous Hollywood
[5:03] Speaker 3: actor to play God, well since George Burns.
[5:07] Speaker 2: God Rest his.
[5:08] Speaker 3: Soul, and he's involved in a TV documentary. The underlying
[5:13] Speaker 3: worldview of this documentary is philosophical naturalism and scientism. In
[5:20] Speaker 3: other words, there's nothing supernatural and science is the only
[5:26] Speaker 3: form of genuine knowledge. Well, in this documentary, Freeman goes
[5:32] Speaker 3: so far as to say that human beings invented God
[5:37] Speaker 3: due to various psychological and neurological mechanisms. In other words,
[5:43] Speaker 3: according to Morgan Freeman, God exists only in our minds,
[5:47] Speaker 3: and religion is a form of self deception that arose
[5:52] Speaker 3: as an evolutionary survival mechanism. These kinds of things are
[5:58] Speaker 3: being displayed, being promoted, and how are we to respond?
[6:06] Speaker 2: How are we to.
[6:07] Speaker 3: Respond when someone like Morgan Freeman in this documentary says
[6:11] Speaker 3: that Jews and Christians and Muslims all worship the same God,
[6:17] Speaker 3: that all religions lead to God, however you might conceive
[6:21] Speaker 3: of him, when in truth, we need to be able
[6:24] Speaker 3: to say that if you examine Islam, you immediately recognize
[6:30] Speaker 3: that a law is hardly the God of Christianity. Islam
[6:37] Speaker 3: is unitarian, Christianity trinitarian. Logically, both can be wrong, but
[6:44] Speaker 3: they can't both be right. Jesus taught that there's only
[6:49] Speaker 3: one way to God. He said it emphatically. I Am
[6:53] Speaker 3: the Way, the Truth, the Life. No one, no one
[6:59] Speaker 3: comes to the Father except through Me, not through Islam,
[7:04] Speaker 3: not through Judaism, not through Buddhism, not through any other religion.
[7:11] Speaker 3: The opinions of all other religious leaders save Christ are
[7:18] Speaker 3: equally valid in that they're equally worthless. Those leaders died,
[7:25] Speaker 3: they're still dead. Only Jesus had the power to lay
[7:31] Speaker 3: down his life and to take it up again. Therefore,
[7:35] Speaker 3: his opinion is infinitely more.
[7:39] Speaker 2: Value than theirs.
[7:42] Speaker 3: Let's go to the phone lines. Talk to David listening
[7:45] Speaker 3: in Tacoma, Washington.
[7:46] Speaker 2: Hi David, Hi Hak, I'm doing good.
[7:50] Speaker 4: Thank you good good. Just wanted to thank you and
[7:53] Speaker 4: all your love ones for just sharing you with us
[7:56] Speaker 4: all these years and all that you do for us
[7:58] Speaker 4: and when we call them, I really appree that. My
[8:01] Speaker 4: question is in One Kings nineteen when Elijah he was
[8:05] Speaker 4: on the run, and my question is basically, was God
[8:11] Speaker 4: directing Elijah to run as he did or was that
[8:14] Speaker 4: something basically that he was doing on his own. And
[8:18] Speaker 4: my second part to that question is when when God
[8:20] Speaker 4: asked him, you know what are you doing here? So
[8:23] Speaker 4: can you give me you know what that's all about?
[8:26] Speaker 3: Yeah, when God asked those questions, therefore our benefit. It's
[8:29] Speaker 3: not as though God does not know. He knows everything.
[8:32] Speaker 3: In fact, a single hero cannot fall from our head
[8:36] Speaker 3: without God knowing and caring about it. So it's not
[8:39] Speaker 3: as though God does not know. Very very similar as
[8:44] Speaker 3: when God asked Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden,
[8:46] Speaker 3: where are you? It's not as though God didn't know.
[8:49] Speaker 3: But it's an anthropomorphism. It's an opportunity for us to
[8:54] Speaker 3: understand God in language or in ways that we can
[8:59] Speaker 3: relate too. Now, the interesting story about Elijah is that
[9:04] Speaker 3: Elijah has one of the great victories of all time,
[9:08] Speaker 3: and now he's fleeing, and ultimately he's under a broom tree.
[9:12] Speaker 3: And you can see the difference that happens very very
[9:17] Speaker 3: quickly in the life of a person. One moment you
[9:20] Speaker 3: can be on a mountaintop, and the next moment you
[9:23] Speaker 3: can be in the slough of despawn and you can
[9:26] Speaker 3: think that there's no one else but me, who else can.
[9:30] Speaker 2: Do this work? Who else?
[9:33] Speaker 3: And then you realize God has many, many others that
[9:38] Speaker 3: are standing in the gap with you. And so this
[9:40] Speaker 3: is a great human interest story. I've experienced it many times.
[9:44] Speaker 3: I can be on the mountaintop and then all of
[9:47] Speaker 3: a sudden I can think, God, where are you? And
[9:50] Speaker 3: the great experience of the Christian life is that you
[9:54] Speaker 3: realize that God has been there.
[9:55] Speaker 2: Over and over and over again.
[9:57] Speaker 3: He's always been faithful, even when we have been unfaithful.
[10:01] Speaker 3: God is always faithful. And if we could trust him
[10:03] Speaker 3: in the past, we can certainly trust him in the
[10:06] Speaker 3: future as well. So there's a great object lesson here
[10:10] Speaker 3: where Elijah goes from victory to a feeling of defeat
[10:14] Speaker 3: and this becomes an object lesson for us.
[10:18] Speaker 4: Right all right, okay, okay, well, thank you.
[10:21] Speaker 2: I appreciate that you got it.
[10:24] Speaker 3: We could not do what we do on the radio
[10:27] Speaker 3: with a hand unplugged podcast. We could not make available
[10:31] Speaker 3: the resources we do on the web.
[10:33] Speaker 2: We could not do what we do.
[10:34] Speaker 3: Overseas around the world if it were not for people
[10:40] Speaker 3: like you standing shoulder to shoulder with us in the
[10:43] Speaker 3: battle for life and truth. And so I will express
[10:47] Speaker 3: my thanks for all of you that do support the
[10:50] Speaker 3: ministry and for those of you that have never taken
[10:53] Speaker 3: that step of faith. This month would be a great
[10:57] Speaker 3: month to do that. The weebit equipped dot org give

[11:11] Speaker 1: We are down to the wire. Our fiscal year ends
[11:14] Speaker 1: in just days, and it is essential that we finish

[11:49] Speaker 1: God bless you. The Bible answer Man will return in
[11:53] Speaker 1: just a few moments. Winston Churchill once declared, you may
[12:03] Speaker 1: have to fight when there is no hope of victory,
[12:05] Speaker 1: because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.
[12:09] Speaker 1: Churchill sought to awaken those who were reluctant to fight
[12:12] Speaker 1: against the advancing Nazi war machine. Today, a spiritual battle
[12:17] Speaker 1: is taking place. Atheism advances in the West, and slavery
[12:21] Speaker 1: to secularity is imprisoning more and more hearts and minds
[12:25] Speaker 1: in the United States. For this reason, crii's ministry is critical,
[12:30] Speaker 1: but we need people willing to stand for truth along
[12:33] Speaker 1: with the financial provisions to accomplish its mission. Stand with

[14:02] Speaker 1: wanton carnage and horrific oppression, and it has been whitewashed
[14:06] Speaker 1: beyond recognition by our politically correct elites. According to credible sources,
[14:11] Speaker 1: one hundred and twenty million Africans, eighty million Hindus, sixty
[14:16] Speaker 1: million Christians. Ten million Buddhists have been slaughtered in the
[14:19] Speaker 1: name of Islam, and that doesn't include the millions of
[14:22] Speaker 1: Muslims killed by other Muslims. Islam is the only significant

[15:12] Speaker 3: Thank you very much for Indian Let's go back to
[15:13] Speaker 3: the phone lines.
[15:14] Speaker 2: We'll talk to George next.
[15:15] Speaker 3: He's listening in Pennsylvania.
[15:17] Speaker 2: Hi George, Hi, and how you doing. I'm doing good.
[15:22] Speaker 2: How are you good?
[15:25] Speaker 3: Hey?
[15:26] Speaker 5: I was visiting a church, not not my own church.
[15:29] Speaker 5: I'm a Christian, but I'm just visiting another church in
[15:33] Speaker 5: my area. And the pastor had h he was studying
[15:39] Speaker 5: with photographs of the Exodus of Moses crossing the Red Sea,
[15:45] Speaker 5: and he and he had a photographs underwater photographs of
[15:48] Speaker 5: a guy by the name of Ron Wyatt who was
[15:52] Speaker 5: I don't know what, I think it was archaeological research,
[15:56] Speaker 5: discovery website or something like that, And and he had
[15:59] Speaker 5: picked of an underwater land bridge at about one hundred
[16:04] Speaker 5: feet deep below the Red Sea and then it dropped
[16:08] Speaker 5: off on each side, really deep. And this guy, Ron Wyatt,
[16:14] Speaker 5: went down in nineteen eighty eight, I believe it was
[16:17] Speaker 5: in a scuba outfit, and he was taking pictures of
[16:23] Speaker 5: chariot wheels, of Egyptian chariot wheels that were four spoken
[16:26] Speaker 5: six boat and they were and there was a lot
[16:30] Speaker 5: of them. I mean there was one set of wheels
[16:33] Speaker 5: that were still attached to the axle, a whole set
[16:36] Speaker 5: of wheels on its upright on his side, with barnacles
[16:38] Speaker 5: all over it, and they were one was right in
[16:43] Speaker 5: the sand and it was like gleaming. H it was.
[16:46] Speaker 5: It was full of barnacles. It was a four smoke
[16:49] Speaker 5: just laying down, but you could see it was it
[16:51] Speaker 5: was like it had a bronze or a gold color
[16:54] Speaker 5: to it.
[16:54] Speaker 3: Hey, George, I can't take it any more. Shame on
[16:57] Speaker 3: this pasture. I can hardly take it. I mean ron
[17:00] Speaker 3: Wyatt was a fraud. I mean he claimed to make
[17:04] Speaker 3: all kinds of startling archaeological discoveries. You know, he discovered
[17:08] Speaker 3: everything from Noah's Ark to the twin cities of Sodom
[17:12] Speaker 3: and Gomara, to the Egyptian chariot wheels that you described.
[17:17] Speaker 3: And one of his most amazing claims was that he
[17:20] Speaker 3: obtained a sample of Christ's blood from the top of
[17:24] Speaker 3: the Ark of the Covenant. But the truth is Ron
[17:27] Speaker 3: Wyatt and he passed away back around the year two thousand.
[17:31] Speaker 3: He is neither an archaeologist, nor has he ever carried
[17:35] Speaker 3: out an excavation in Israel or Jerusalem and the places
[17:41] Speaker 3: he claimed to go. He's simply been deceiving people with
[17:46] Speaker 3: his stories. And though as I said, he passed away
[17:50] Speaker 3: around the year two thousand, there's nineteen ninety nine. He
[17:53] Speaker 3: still reeks havoc in the church. Because what happens is
[18:00] Speaker 3: if you hear these sensationalistic stories and then you find
[18:04] Speaker 3: out that they're not true, then what happens to those
[18:08] Speaker 3: who came to faith as a result of the sensationalistic stories, Well,
[18:11] Speaker 3: they think vicariously, the Christian faith is a hoax as well,
[18:17] Speaker 3: when nothing could be further from the truth. Obviously, the
[18:20] Speaker 3: Christian faith is rooted in history and in evidence, but
[18:24] Speaker 3: we don't have to make up stories in order to
[18:28] Speaker 3: try to validate what is already valid. And this is
[18:32] Speaker 3: precisely what Ron and Wya did. He make a cottage
[18:35] Speaker 3: industry out of it. And unfortunately, there are pastors that
[18:38] Speaker 3: are proliferating this stuff, just like pastors proliferated the myth
[18:43] Speaker 3: of Y two K and we're selling freeze dried food
[18:46] Speaker 3: and all the cottage industries that surrounded that.
[18:50] Speaker 5: Sure, all right, well I'm going on. I remember that church.
[18:55] Speaker 5: I don't plan on going back there either again, So
[19:00] Speaker 5: there you go. I just I was wondering if it
[19:02] Speaker 5: was true or not. I mean, it looked real, and
[19:04] Speaker 5: I was thinking, well, maybe I could show some friends
[19:07] Speaker 5: of mine who are agnostics, you know, if they wanted
[19:09] Speaker 5: to proved for something. But boy, I'm glad you straight
[19:13] Speaker 5: man on that because you never know. So it's by faith.
[19:17] Speaker 3: Well, I mean, the Christian faith is rooted in history
[19:20] Speaker 3: and evidence. But what I'm saying is that you don't
[19:23] Speaker 3: want to dredge up you know these urban legends and
[19:28] Speaker 3: use them as a way of validating the faith when
[19:30] Speaker 3: we have a firm foundation already.
[19:33] Speaker 1: Yeah, we do, We.
[19:33] Speaker 5: Really do have a firm foundation. I do agree with that. Hey,
[19:37] Speaker 5: it's great listening to you. I listened to you a
[19:40] Speaker 5: lot so and you're you're right on. So thanks brother
[19:44] Speaker 5: for straight man on that.
[19:46] Speaker 2: So you got, George. I appreciate your call.
[19:48] Speaker 5: I really do. Thanks.
[19:49] Speaker 3: I'm grateful for your call. It Let's go to Karen
[19:52] Speaker 3: in Missouri. Hi, Karen, tonight, I'm doing great.
[19:57] Speaker 4: Thank you, Hey, thanks for in my call.
[20:01] Speaker 6: I've been thinking about something that. You know, when Jesus
[20:04] Speaker 6: met the possess man, his name.
[20:07] Speaker 4: Was legions, there was many yes, and then.
[20:11] Speaker 6: They cried out to him, and they him not.
[20:14] Speaker 4: To send them back down into the abyss, but to
[20:16] Speaker 4: send them into the herd of pigs, and then.
[20:21] Speaker 5: The pigs ran over the cliffs.
[20:23] Speaker 4: What happened to the demons then?
[20:27] Speaker 3: Well, you know, when you think about demons, a demon
[20:30] Speaker 3: is said to be where a demon acts. So what's
[20:35] Speaker 3: going on here is anthropomorphic language. I mean, a demon
[20:38] Speaker 3: is very very real, but a demon is a non
[20:41] Speaker 3: physical being, and non physical beings do not have extension
[20:45] Speaker 3: in space. So now the demons, instead of tormenting a
[20:50] Speaker 3: human being, are tormenting pigs. Now, the idea here is
[20:57] Speaker 3: that the destruction of a herd of pigs shows that
[21:03] Speaker 3: men had been protected by the care of God Almighty,
[21:07] Speaker 3: otherwise they would have perished under demonic influence. And it
[21:14] Speaker 3: also underscores the fact that swineherding was not lawful for
[21:19] Speaker 3: the Jews. Now, it wasn't lawful for a very particular reason,
[21:24] Speaker 3: and the reason was simply this, God gave civil and
[21:29] Speaker 3: ceremonial laws so that people would have a way of
[21:34] Speaker 3: understanding the distinction between that which was clean and that
[21:37] Speaker 3: which was unclean, that which related to the things of
[21:43] Speaker 3: God and that which does not. So it was a
[21:46] Speaker 3: very very clear lesson to the Jews in a very
[21:50] Speaker 3: perceptible way. And so Jesus is using this to show
[21:54] Speaker 3: the incomparable value of humanity, whose salvation is worth an
[22:00] Speaker 3: every sacrifice, and showing that the civil and ceremonial laws
[22:05] Speaker 3: ultimately are fulfilled in him. So there's an object lesson
[22:10] Speaker 3: in all of this. But we ought not to take
[22:13] Speaker 3: this in a wooden, literalistic fashion, as though demons are
[22:19] Speaker 3: corporeal or physical beings. They're not physical beings. So now
[22:23] Speaker 3: instead of acting within human beings, they're acting within that
[22:27] Speaker 3: which is unclean. EVA listening in Indianapolis, Indiana.
[22:32] Speaker 6: Hi, Hi, think My question is it's a two part question. First,
[22:38] Speaker 6: do we have a firm date for when Noah's flood occurred?
[22:42] Speaker 6: And then the second part of that is because I
[22:47] Speaker 6: was hearing that archaeologists were claiming to find artifacts that
[22:54] Speaker 6: occurred or that they found after this fled so attempting
[22:59] Speaker 6: to disprove the flood. So how can I can you
[23:04] Speaker 6: help me find a resource er a way how to
[23:08] Speaker 6: answer that question?
[23:10] Speaker 2: Yeah, so two questions. The first question is, no.
[23:12] Speaker 3: We don't know the date of the flood. We don't
[23:15] Speaker 3: have a firm date for the flood. Remember, if you
[23:18] Speaker 3: look at the Book of Genesis, you have genealogies. You
[23:21] Speaker 3: have ten on one side of the flood, ten on
[23:23] Speaker 3: the other side of the flood. And the idea for
[23:26] Speaker 3: the genealogies is not to give us a chronology a
[23:31] Speaker 3: sequencing of time, but rather there's a symmetry to the
[23:35] Speaker 3: genealogies because there's a purpose in the genealogies, just as
[23:40] Speaker 3: much a purpose for Moses as it was for Matthew
[23:43] Speaker 3: in the fourteen fourteen fourteen that he gives us in
[23:46] Speaker 3: his gospel. So we can't establish a date based on
[23:50] Speaker 3: the genealogies. That's the point. We don't have a chronology.
[23:54] Speaker 3: We do have ample evidence, however, in the second part
[23:58] Speaker 3: of your question for the flood of Noah, and let
[24:02] Speaker 3: me say this, with all their failings, corrupted accounts of
[24:06] Speaker 3: the flood, and there are many of them, like the
[24:08] Speaker 3: Epic of GigaMesh, which was the Babylonian account of the flood,
[24:13] Speaker 3: or the Epic of Atrahasses or iridued Genesis, they all
[24:18] Speaker 3: point to something. The similarities in the flood accounts point
[24:24] Speaker 3: to a common inheritance. They all derive from the same source,
[24:30] Speaker 3: which is to say, they all derived from an actual event.
[24:34] Speaker 2: And so it.
[24:35] Speaker 3: Stands to reason that as descendants of Noah would have
[24:39] Speaker 3: drifted from God, drifted from one another, human embellishments and
[24:44] Speaker 3: interpretations would be imported into the actual historical events. But
[24:50] Speaker 3: that doesn't mean that there wasn't an actual event. Genesis
[24:55] Speaker 3: is written as history. It corresponds to reality. And by
[24:59] Speaker 3: the way, you don't have any unpredictable gods cluttering the
[25:03] Speaker 3: text as you do, and the corrupted flood accounts and
[25:06] Speaker 3: details that can be tested in an age of scientific
[25:09] Speaker 3: enlightenment are found to be wholly plausible.
[25:12] Speaker 2: And I'll give you one example.
[25:14] Speaker 3: In contrast to the cube shaped arc of Gilgamesh and
[25:18] Speaker 3: the Epic of Gilgamesh, modern engineering standards have proven that
[25:23] Speaker 3: the arc of Genesis is ideally suited for floating and stability.
[25:29] Speaker 3: But here's the bottom line. Corrupted flood accounts remind us
[25:33] Speaker 3: that the reality of great flood is imprinted on the
[25:36] Speaker 3: collective consciousness of virtually every major civilization from the Sumerian
[25:42] Speaker 3: Epic right onto the present age. And although the corrupted
[25:45] Speaker 3: accounts view the waters of the flood to the opaque
[25:49] Speaker 3: lens of paganism, they nevertheless lend credence to the occurrence
[25:55] Speaker 3: of an actual flood. I've written about this in some
[25:58] Speaker 3: detail in a book called The Creation answer Book. And again,

[27:13] Speaker 1: and resoluteness to turn the tide of the battle and
[27:16] Speaker 1: ultimately the war. The lesson is that both men and
