[0:07] Speaker 1: Heard all across the United States, Canada, and around the world.
[0:11] Speaker 1: This is the Bible answer Man Broadcast with Hank Annagraph.
[0:15] Speaker 1: Hank as President of the Christian Research Institute at CRI.
[0:19] Speaker 1: Our desire is to equip you not only to defend
[0:22] Speaker 1: the historic Christian faith, but to become a winsome witness
[0:26] Speaker 1: to a spiritually hungry but skeptical world, because life and
[0:31] Speaker 1: truth matter. To learn more or to find resources to
[0:34] Speaker 1: help you grow in grace, call eight eight eight seven
[0:38] Speaker 1: thousand CROI or go online to equip dot org. That's
[0:43] Speaker 1: equip dot Org. The following program was pre recorded and
[0:49] Speaker 1: now here's Hank Canagraph Rendy.
[0:52] Speaker 2: I'm looking at a testory from Johnny. He says, I
[0:55] Speaker 2: thank God for you and your ministry before it was saved.
[0:59] Speaker 2: I worked in a hard store in Norco, California, where
[1:02] Speaker 2: my boss was a Christian, and I would hear your
[1:05] Speaker 2: show every single day. I didn't know then that I
[1:08] Speaker 2: was searching, but I believe hearing you explain things so
[1:13] Speaker 2: really put a hunger for the Word of God in
[1:16] Speaker 2: my heart. And not long after, my wife and I
[1:18] Speaker 2: both gave our lives to the Lord. A long time
[1:21] Speaker 2: went by and I didn't listen to you for a while,
[1:23] Speaker 2: but I've been listening and I love it. Thank you
[1:26] Speaker 2: for everything you do. You really put a hunger in
[1:28] Speaker 2: me for apologetics. So thank you again. So another testimony
[1:32] Speaker 2: of a changed life. This ministry changes lives in so
[1:34] Speaker 2: many different ways, not only in the West but around
[1:38] Speaker 2: the world. And we're asking people to stand with us
[1:41] Speaker 2: this month, prayerfully and financially as we end our fiscal year.
[1:45] Speaker 2: You'ven given a safe, secure fashion on the web equipped
[1:48] Speaker 2: dot org via the mail of box eighty five hundred, Charlotte,
[1:51] Speaker 2: North Carolina, zip code two eight two seven one. Resource
[1:55] Speaker 2: Consultants are standing by Triple eight seven thousand and the
[1:58] Speaker 2: letters cri Leslie first up in Houston, Texas, listening on
[2:03] Speaker 2: the web.
[2:04] Speaker 3: Hi Leslie, Hi there, Hank. While I was viewing one
[2:08] Speaker 3: of your broadcasts, you were trying to explain the false
[2:14] Speaker 3: teacher Joseph Prince to a caller, and so that brought
[2:17] Speaker 3: up a question in my mind about what you may
[2:20] Speaker 3: feel and think about your best Mold ministry.
[2:23] Speaker 2: I don't think that's in the same class as what
[2:25] Speaker 2: Joseph Prince is doing. I think by and large she
[2:29] Speaker 2: stands with me shoulder to shoulder on the essentials of
[2:33] Speaker 2: the historic Christian faith, although I would have very strong
[2:36] Speaker 2: disagreements with her on various matters, including her view on deliverance.
[2:41] Speaker 2: I think the view on deliverance that we ought to
[2:43] Speaker 2: have is a view that is communicated by the apostle
[2:46] Speaker 2: Paul in Ephesian six ten through twenty. I wrote a
[2:49] Speaker 2: book about that called The Covering God's Plan to prect
[2:53] Speaker 2: You from Evil. And the point of the book is
[2:55] Speaker 2: that if you put on the full arm of God,
[2:58] Speaker 2: you can stand firmly against principalities and powers of darkness.
[3:02] Speaker 2: If you do not, you are a guaranteed casualty. Let's
[3:05] Speaker 2: go back to the phone lines, doctor ray in Utah, Hi,
[3:08] Speaker 2: Ray Hi.
[3:10] Speaker 4: A question that came out of a previous broadcast that
[3:13] Speaker 4: was listening to you had a fellow named Steve from
[3:16] Speaker 4: Salt Lake City who said that he I think, if
[3:18] Speaker 4: I understood correctly, he said he was Christian who was
[3:21] Speaker 4: raised Christian Baptists and became a Mormon. And you get
[3:24] Speaker 4: into a fun discussion around the understanding of the Trinity,
[3:27] Speaker 4: and is it difficult and all that if you remember that.
[3:31] Speaker 4: But I was listening in and I happened to have
[3:34] Speaker 4: sort of the opposite story. Thirty five years a Mormon
[3:37] Speaker 4: high priest temple gell all that good stuff and came
[3:40] Speaker 4: to understand that that was all an error. And I
[3:43] Speaker 4: am now happily a Christian.
[3:45] Speaker 2: Wow.
[3:46] Speaker 4: So, being here in what I call the belly of
[3:49] Speaker 4: the beast known as the area of Utah, I of
[3:53] Speaker 4: course have many many conversations you want with either Mormons
[3:57] Speaker 4: or Mormon's considering leaving, or or those of lack and
[4:02] Speaker 4: so on. And so you mentioned to him, this is
[4:05] Speaker 4: my question. You said to him, there is one verse
[4:09] Speaker 4: in the Bible. I think you said one verse. Maybe
[4:11] Speaker 4: you said one sentence prove Mormonism wrong. I can find
[4:15] Speaker 4: lots of things that point to that and have some
[4:18] Speaker 4: set of arguments, but I would love to know what
[4:20] Speaker 4: your on verses that you want what you know? You
[4:23] Speaker 4: didn't actually say what it was, but you kind of
[4:25] Speaker 4: presented it to him in that conversation. You remember what
[4:28] Speaker 4: that was?
[4:29] Speaker 2: Well, I don't, but I probably was talking about Colausius
[4:31] Speaker 2: Chapter one, where Jesus called the image of the invisible God,
[4:36] Speaker 2: the first born over all creation, for by him all
[4:40] Speaker 2: things were created, things in heaven and on earth. Visible
[4:45] Speaker 2: and invisible. Not only that, but when I talk about
[4:48] Speaker 2: the Mother of all questions, it is the question that
[4:51] Speaker 2: Jesus posed, who do you say that I am? And
[4:55] Speaker 2: of course Peter correctly answers that question because he communicates
[5:02] Speaker 2: without equivocation that Jesus Christ is deity, that he is
[5:07] Speaker 2: the son of God. And according to official Mormon doctrine,
[5:11] Speaker 2: as you well know, Jesus is the first spirit child
[5:15] Speaker 2: who was conceived and begotten by Heavenly Father and one
[5:18] Speaker 2: of his many wives, and then progressed through obedience to
[5:22] Speaker 2: the status of a God prior to his incarnation, and
[5:26] Speaker 2: Heavenly Father subsequently then has many more spirit children, and
[5:30] Speaker 2: Mormons believe even Satan and Lucifer is a spirit brother
[5:34] Speaker 2: of Jesus. So the point here is to say that
[5:37] Speaker 2: the Mother of all questions is to answer whether Jesus
[5:42] Speaker 2: Christ is God or whether he's a mere man who
[5:46] Speaker 2: was exalted to godhood. Jesus Christ, in Biblical theology, is
[5:51] Speaker 2: the one who spoke and the universe leapt into existence.
[5:55] Speaker 2: In Mormon theology, Father God was once a mere mortal
[6:00] Speaker 2: one now sits enthroned in heavenly glory, and we can
[6:04] Speaker 2: become what he is, so Mormon theology, I think ultimately
[6:09] Speaker 2: fails on the singular point of the deity of Jesus Christ.
[6:13] Speaker 2: But there's many other things that we could say about it.
[6:16] Speaker 2: I mean, the Book of Mormon, for example, has been
[6:18] Speaker 2: utterly devastated by both archaeology and anthropology. So there are
[6:23] Speaker 2: many things that set themselves as truth against the error
[6:28] Speaker 2: of Mormonism, right.
[6:30] Speaker 4: Right, Yeah, So that's certainly not a new argument. It's
[6:35] Speaker 4: good to know specifically what you're referring to there, as
[6:38] Speaker 4: you I'm sure you know probably more than an eye
[6:40] Speaker 4: because you did it some full time basis and talk
[6:43] Speaker 4: to people. But you know, it's no matter what I say,
[6:48] Speaker 4: as I think you pointed out to sell studies, you know,
[6:51] Speaker 4: unless their eyes are open it really they're just occucating.
[6:54] Speaker 4: And so it's good to have the arguments. It's good
[6:57] Speaker 4: to be able to take them to the text and
[6:58] Speaker 4: say this is his word, this is what says. But
[7:01] Speaker 4: ultimately they'll find clever ways arguab way out of it.
[7:04] Speaker 4: Until these are openings in his mind. We're a few
[7:06] Speaker 4: years ago, but I'm always looking for for a good
[7:09] Speaker 4: way to kind of, you know, go back to the
[7:11] Speaker 4: specific you know, a piece of text in the Bible
[7:14] Speaker 4: for the argument not just psychologic. I understand that, you know,
[7:17] Speaker 4: they don't like to hear that they didn't always better
[7:20] Speaker 4: to go in this chapter, in this verse it says,
[7:23] Speaker 4: it's a much much more powerful way to teach. So
[7:27] Speaker 4: so I appreciate you sharing that with me and after
[7:31] Speaker 4: your prayers and in h you know, trying to get
[7:33] Speaker 4: the word out to my seller moments here in the
[7:35] Speaker 4: area and hopefully open a few eyes here and there.
[7:37] Speaker 2: Well, thank you so much for your contribution to the
[7:39] Speaker 2: broadcast and what an incredible testimony of conversion. Back to
[7:43] Speaker 2: the phone lines, we'll talk to Mike and Louisiana.
[7:46] Speaker 5: Hi, Mike, Oh, I really appreciate you and your ministry.
[7:50] Speaker 5: I've been encouraged so much by your progrim every day
[7:54] Speaker 5: when I'm driving home. One of the recent why happens
[7:57] Speaker 5: me on this just to be able to listen to you.
[8:00] Speaker 5: I really appreciate you.
[8:02] Speaker 2: Thank you.
[8:02] Speaker 5: I was just curious so your thoughts and the villions
[8:06] Speaker 5: about Key Life ministry and Brown.
[8:09] Speaker 2: Well, you know, Steve is a host of a nationally
[8:13] Speaker 2: syndicated talk show, is a seminary professor. He's ordained in
[8:17] Speaker 2: the PCA, the presbyter in Church of America and has
[8:21] Speaker 2: been blessed by God with one of the most incredible
[8:23] Speaker 2: voices I've ever heard. I've appreciated his ministry and appreciated
[8:28] Speaker 2: him as a person for many years.
[8:30] Speaker 5: Okay, I'm glad that's the case, because he speaks with
[8:34] Speaker 5: such authority and then love. I mean, I know he's
[8:39] Speaker 5: a five boy Calaunist, but and you know, fan aside, uh,
[8:46] Speaker 5: he's just filled with such love and grace. And I
[8:50] Speaker 5: appreciate his ministry. I just was curious about what you
[8:53] Speaker 5: call I thought about his ministry. So thank you so much.
[8:57] Speaker 2: You got it. And I think, as Steve would say,
[8:59] Speaker 2: if you're not a five point Calvinist, you're not a
[9:01] Speaker 2: Calvinist at all, because the whole system hangs together. So
[9:05] Speaker 2: I think people that say, well, I'm a three point
[9:07] Speaker 2: Calvinist or a two point Calvinist or a four point Calvinist,
[9:11] Speaker 2: I think, ultimately it is a system that hangs together,
[9:14] Speaker 2: and it's either correct or it is not correct. And
[9:17] Speaker 2: I grew up in a Calvinist construct and I have
[9:19] Speaker 2: come to the conclusion that it's not correct. But I
[9:22] Speaker 2: do believe that it is within the pale of Orthodoxy
[9:24] Speaker 2: and Steve Brown Arci's for many great, great Calvinist theologians
[9:29] Speaker 2: that have been some of the finest representations of Christ
[9:34] Speaker 2: to a lost in searching world. So I have great
[9:36] Speaker 2: appreciation for what men like Steve and RC have done
[9:41] Speaker 2: through their lives and through their ministries. We are coming
[9:43] Speaker 2: to a station break. On the other side of the
[9:45] Speaker 2: break would be taking more of your calls. I want
[9:48] Speaker 2: to once again encourage people to join the monthly CRII
[9:51] Speaker 2: Support Team. When you do, I'd be pleased to send
[9:54] Speaker 2: you any one of my books personalized to you a
[9:57] Speaker 2: family member or a friend. The reason I'm emphasizing the
[10:01] Speaker 2: monthly Support Team is very simple. It forms a foundation
[10:07] Speaker 2: of giving support that is critical to our endeavors around
[10:12] Speaker 2: the world. When you become a CI Support Team member,
[10:16] Speaker 2: you commit to supporting the Christian Research Institute and its
[10:19] Speaker 2: many outreach ministries with your ongoing support. It's as easy
[10:23] Speaker 2: as going to equip dot org slash donate and remember
[10:28] Speaker 2: you can get electronically, which saves you time and postage.
[10:32] Speaker 2: They can use a credit card, a debit card, an
[10:35] Speaker 2: electronic funds transfer, many different ways in which you can give,
[10:39] Speaker 2: but we ask you to consider doing so today as
[10:43] Speaker 2: we end our fiscal year. The Lord is merciful and together,
[10:49] Speaker 2: as we stand shoulder to shoulder for the battle that
[10:53] Speaker 2: we're facing with respect to life and truth, we can
[10:56] Speaker 2: make a difference for time and for eternity. We'll be
[10:59] Speaker 2: right back.
[11:00] Speaker 1: Because an increasingly militant, intolerant, and hostile secularism would love
[11:05] Speaker 1: to silence the voice of the Bible answer Man broadcast.
[11:09] Speaker 1: We ask you to do all you can this month
[11:11] Speaker 1: to help us turn up the volume. We are deeply
[11:15] Speaker 1: grateful for your partnership at this critical time as we
[11:18] Speaker 1: strive to stand courageously for life and truth. Stand with
[11:23] Speaker 1: Hank Hanigraph and the Christian Research Institute during the key
[11:27] Speaker 1: month of June to ensure that we end our financial
[11:30] Speaker 1: year in a position of strength. To make a gift
[11:33] Speaker 1: to support the Christian Research Institute's life changing outreaches, simply

[11:48] Speaker 1: God bless you. We'll be back in just a moment
[11:52] Speaker 1: with more from Hank Annigraph. The Complete Bible answer Book
[12:02] Speaker 1: Collector's Edition is the comprehensive collection of the most often
[12:06] Speaker 1: asked questions Hank Hannigraph has received throughout his four decades
[12:10] Speaker 1: as host of the Bible answer Man broadcast. With more
[12:13] Speaker 1: than half a million copies already in print, this newly
[12:17] Speaker 1: revised and expanded Collector's Edition helped seekers and skeptics alike
[12:22] Speaker 1: sort through the truth on topics such as reliability of
[12:25] Speaker 1: the Bible, religions and cults, the resurrection and afterlife, and
[12:30] Speaker 1: many more issues vital to a better understanding of God
[12:33] Speaker 1: in Christ and our relationship to Him. To receive your

[13:02] Speaker 1: may have to fight when there is no hope of victory,
[13:05] Speaker 1: because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.
[13:09] Speaker 1: Churchill sought to awaken those who were reluctant to fight
[13:12] Speaker 1: against the advancing Nazi war machine. Today, a spiritual battle
[13:17] Speaker 1: is taking place. Atheism advances in the West, and slavery
[13:21] Speaker 1: to secularity is imprisoning more and more hearts and minds
[13:25] Speaker 1: in the United States. For this reason, CRI's ministry is critical,
[13:29] Speaker 1: but we need people willing to stand for truth along
[13:33] Speaker 1: with the financial provisions to accomplish its mission. Stand with
[13:37] Speaker 1: Hank Hanigraph and the Christian Research Institute during the month

[14:08] Speaker 1: Scripture merely human in origin? Or are they, in fact
[14:11] Speaker 1: the very words of God himself. Three years in the
[14:16] Speaker 1: making and based on two decades of research and reflection,
[14:19] Speaker 1: Hank Henagraph's monumental book Has God Spoken answers what is
[14:24] Speaker 1: surely the most important question facing our world. In Has
[14:28] Speaker 1: God Spoken? Memorable Proofs of the Bible's Divine inspiration, Hank
[14:33] Speaker 1: counters the contentions of the Bible attackers and clearly shows
[14:36] Speaker 1: that belief in the Holy Scriptures is not a guess
[14:39] Speaker 1: or wishful thinking. It is the only logical conclusion after
[14:43] Speaker 1: an honest examination of overwhelming evidence. Order has God spoken?

[15:35] Speaker 1: now once again here is Hank Hanagraph.
[15:38] Speaker 2: Yeah, thank you, Randy. We'll go right back to our callers.
[15:40] Speaker 2: Next up, Jeremy listening in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Hi Jeremy, Hi Hank.
[15:45] Speaker 6: How are you today?
[15:46] Speaker 2: I'm hanging in there. How are you doing?
[15:48] Speaker 6: Oh wonderful?
[15:49] Speaker 7: Thank you. Just get off work a little bit of
[15:51] Speaker 7: good so it's a good day.
[15:54] Speaker 6: I've got a question, and I've asked people this in
[15:56] Speaker 6: the past, and the answer that I did is that
[16:01] Speaker 6: bentually it's from more than one's point of view, So
[16:03] Speaker 6: I'm hoping she'll give me that kind of answer. But
[16:06] Speaker 6: my question is, in the Book of Matthew, I guess
[16:10] Speaker 6: chatter a jolly one that says two men for instance,
[16:16] Speaker 6: and Luke whenever Jesus cast out the demon named Legion. Uh,
[16:21] Speaker 6: how come in in all the other books there's only
[16:24] Speaker 6: one man at the tombs, But in the Book of
[16:27] Speaker 6: Matthew there's two men.
[16:30] Speaker 2: Sure, And that's a good question. And I think you're
[16:33] Speaker 2: referring to the two demon possessed men, right, and they're
[16:37] Speaker 2: healing in Matthew chapter eight. Yeah, so yeah, Matthew says
[16:40] Speaker 2: there are two. Well, Mark and Luke say one. And
[16:44] Speaker 2: critics have, for some odd reasons, suggested this to be
[16:47] Speaker 2: a contradiction. But obviously, wherever you have two people, there
[16:54] Speaker 2: is always, always, always, one hundred percent of the time
[16:59] Speaker 2: one person. So if Mark or Luke said there was
[17:03] Speaker 2: only one person present, there'd be a contradiction, But the
[17:08] Speaker 2: text does not say that. So what you have is
[17:11] Speaker 2: Matthew focusing on two demon possessed men that were healed,
[17:18] Speaker 2: and then you have Mark and Luke, for their own reasons,
[17:22] Speaker 2: focusing on one. And this is what you have with
[17:26] Speaker 2: the Synoptics in general. If the Synoptics gave all the
[17:30] Speaker 2: details of every story in exactly the same way, the
[17:34] Speaker 2: first thing we would say, especially if this was presented
[17:37] Speaker 2: in a legal sense, we would say, there's collusion here.
[17:42] Speaker 2: So they all present the story from their own perspective,
[17:46] Speaker 2: with their own purpose, as they're led by the Holy Spirit.
[17:50] Speaker 2: There's no reason whatsoever for each gospel to communicate events
[17:55] Speaker 2: exactly in the same way. Now, if there was a contradiction,
[17:58] Speaker 2: that would be a problem. This is obviously not a
[18:01] Speaker 2: contradiction unless you have, as I just mentioned, Luke and
[18:06] Speaker 2: Mark saying that there's only one demoniac, and therefore Matthew
[18:11] Speaker 2: was mistaken when he was talking about the healing of
[18:13] Speaker 2: two demoniacs. Obviously this is not what's going on.
[18:18] Speaker 6: So we're living with the word femian. It's just Mark
[18:22] Speaker 6: and Luke just chose us talk about the second person.
[18:25] Speaker 2: That's exactly right. And again that's why you have the
[18:28] Speaker 2: Synoptic Gospels, because reading them in unison, as it were,
[18:34] Speaker 2: you have the rest of the story, or you have
[18:36] Speaker 2: the complete story. If you would have the story told
[18:41] Speaker 2: in exactly the same way by one witness, Matthew and
[18:46] Speaker 2: another witness, Mark, and yet another Luke. Again, in a
[18:50] Speaker 2: legal situation, you would immediately suspect collusion. That's the one
[18:54] Speaker 2: thing you don't find in the Gospels. You find harmony,
[18:57] Speaker 2: but not collusion. Hopeful that helps. Let's go back to
[19:01] Speaker 2: the phone lines. Stephen fort Worth, Texas.
[19:04] Speaker 7: Hi, Stephen, Hi, Hank, appreciate what you do, Hank. The
[19:09] Speaker 7: other day I was listening to the radio and this
[19:12] Speaker 7: well known preacher was talken about our God and he
[19:16] Speaker 7: said that in part of the contact, he said, God
[19:19] Speaker 7: is in control, but God is in control. Well, if
[19:23] Speaker 7: God is in control, this world is chaotic. And I
[19:28] Speaker 7: don't think our God is a is a god of chaos.
[19:32] Speaker 7: I know there have been times in my life as
[19:34] Speaker 7: a Christian that been in control because I haven't lady.
[19:39] Speaker 7: And also in Genesis, does it not say that He
[19:44] Speaker 7: gave created man and women and gave them to menium.
[19:48] Speaker 7: I guess that's kind of a control of the animals
[19:51] Speaker 7: and over all the world. Kind of your comment on that,
[19:56] Speaker 7: I know ultimately he is in control.
[19:59] Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's an antinomy. There's a tension here,
[20:02] Speaker 2: isn't there? Because on the one hand, we know for
[20:04] Speaker 2: certain that God is in sovereign control of every detail
[20:11] Speaker 2: of our lives that not a hair falls from our
[20:14] Speaker 2: head that our heavenly Father does not know or care
[20:17] Speaker 2: about it. On the other hand, what we do really matters.
[20:23] Speaker 2: So we can't just live in some kind of a
[20:25] Speaker 2: magical world and say, you know, my hands are dirty,
[20:28] Speaker 2: but if God wants them to be clean, then he'll
[20:30] Speaker 2: make them clean magically. Now you go and wash your hands.
[20:33] Speaker 2: God works through means. So I think there is a
[20:36] Speaker 2: tension here on the one hand, But look, the world
[20:39] Speaker 2: is in a mess, not because God created the mess,
[20:43] Speaker 2: but God created the potential for a mess. Why did
[20:46] Speaker 2: he create the potential for a mess. Well, he gave
[20:48] Speaker 2: us freedom of choice. If we did not have that choice,
[20:53] Speaker 2: then there would be no genuine love. Our lives would
[20:56] Speaker 2: be fatalistically determined in the sense that the atheist believes
[21:00] Speaker 2: that everything is determined by brain, chemistry and genetics.
[21:04] Speaker 7: Sure all, Thank you, Apprecie, thank you, you got it.
[21:09] Speaker 2: Back to the phone lines. Talk to Michelle. She's listening
[21:12] Speaker 2: in Fadville, Arkansas. Hi. Hi.
[21:15] Speaker 8: First of all, I want to thank you for your ministry.
[21:17] Speaker 8: I am a monthly supporter and I dis appreciate all
[21:20] Speaker 8: that you do.
[21:21] Speaker 2: Bless you, Thank you.
[21:22] Speaker 8: I was listening to the broadcast when you had Joe
[21:26] Speaker 8: dallas On regarding his article is gay Christian an acceptable identity?
[21:31] Speaker 8: He used the comparison which I have long used to alcoholism.
[21:37] Speaker 8: As far as you know, ultimately, regardless of your desires
[21:41] Speaker 8: or your tendencies, you choose whether to act on them
[21:45] Speaker 8: or not. My question is regarding the labels that you
[21:49] Speaker 8: put on yourselves, and because I was thinking about as
[21:53] Speaker 8: far as drunkenness and alcoholism, when people go to AA meetings,
[21:58] Speaker 8: even if they've recovered from it, they still say, Hi,
[22:00] Speaker 8: my name is so and so, I'm an alcoholic. So
[22:03] Speaker 8: they are putting that label on themselves based off of
[22:06] Speaker 8: actions that they had. Is that a fair comparison to
[22:11] Speaker 8: homosexuals maybe saying I'm a recovered homosexual or do you
[22:17] Speaker 8: understand what?
[22:18] Speaker 2: I'm sure yeah, And Joe actually addresses that in one
[22:21] Speaker 2: of the articles. But you know, context is very very important,
[22:24] Speaker 2: because if you're in an AA meeting, introducing yourself as Hi,
[22:29] Speaker 2: I'm Joe, I'm an alcoholic is perfectly acceptable. But you wouldn't
[22:33] Speaker 2: do that in a church situation when you're introducing yourself
[22:35] Speaker 2: because we all recognize intuitively and rightly that every one
[22:42] Speaker 2: of us has a besetting sin, and in many sins,
[22:44] Speaker 2: so we don't enumerate those sins. We just assume that
[22:47] Speaker 2: the other people know that we're sinners, and that the
[22:49] Speaker 2: church is a hospital for sinners who have come to
[22:53] Speaker 2: faith in Christ. The other thing I think that's important
[22:55] Speaker 2: to recognize is that homosexuality is a behavior, not an identity,
[23:01] Speaker 2: and you have to always keep that straight. And I
[23:03] Speaker 2: think Joe therefore says in the article and again I
[23:07] Speaker 2: agree with what Joe says on this subject. I don't
[23:09] Speaker 2: know if anybody that knows the subject better. He says
[23:13] Speaker 2: that homosexual is a word best used as an adjective,
[23:17] Speaker 2: as in, I experience homosexual temptations, rather than using it
[23:22] Speaker 2: as a noun. I am a homosexual because the result
[23:26] Speaker 2: of the latter usage is labeling, and with labeling comes limitation.
[23:31] Speaker 2: The former offers a broader, more biblical self view. Okay,
[23:36] Speaker 2: And again Joe talks about this in length in the
[23:39] Speaker 2: article is gay Christian unacceptable identity?
[23:43] Speaker 8: Okay, Well, I appreciate your answer. Thank you very much
[23:47] Speaker 8: for taking my call.
[23:48] Speaker 2: You got it. My pleasure. Back to the phone, lines
[23:50] Speaker 2: Al Washington, d C.
[23:52] Speaker 7: Hi, L how you.
[23:53] Speaker 9: Doing, Hank A pleasure to speak to you. I've been
[23:57] Speaker 9: having some conversation that's an atheist on a social media website,
[24:02] Speaker 9: and the answer that they always give me for you
[24:06] Speaker 9: know's not a God is that we don't believe.
[24:08] Speaker 7: God due to lack of evidence. And I don't really.
[24:11] Speaker 9: Know how to come back on that, because I mean,
[24:18] Speaker 9: it's obviously gods. You can't touch it, and I think
[24:20] Speaker 9: that's kind of what it's saying is we can't touch them,
[24:23] Speaker 9: We've never seen them.
[24:24] Speaker 7: I'm just trying to get.
[24:25] Speaker 9: Some better answers through how I can address that statement.
[24:28] Speaker 2: Yeah. Quite frankly, it's the irrational to say that God
[24:30] Speaker 2: doesn't exist because you can't touch or feel him. There
[24:32] Speaker 2: are a lot of things you can't touch and feel
[24:34] Speaker 2: that you know exists, including gravity and black holes and
[24:38] Speaker 2: many other things that we could talk about. But the
[24:41] Speaker 2: reality is is that there's plenty of evidence for God.
[24:45] Speaker 2: If you were stumbling around on a desert island and
[24:50] Speaker 2: you happen to bump into a basketball, you would immediately think, Ah,
[24:55] Speaker 2: someone made that basketball. There is a basketball maker. Maybe
[25:00] Speaker 2: he inhabits this island. I don't know, but the idea
[25:04] Speaker 2: that there would be a basketball mate would be foremost
[25:06] Speaker 2: in your mind. And when you look at the universe,
[25:09] Speaker 2: the universe is absolutely clear. The heavens declared the glory
[25:13] Speaker 2: of God, the skies proclaimed the work of his hands,
[25:16] Speaker 2: or in the words of the apostle Paul, God's invisible qualities,
[25:20] Speaker 2: his eternal power, and divine nature have been clearly seen,
[25:24] Speaker 2: being understood from what has been made. Not only that,
[25:27] Speaker 2: but there's something else I think important. God has written
[25:29] Speaker 2: a knowledge of himself on the canvas of our consciousness,
[25:32] Speaker 2: and therefore we are without excuse. And the more light
[25:36] Speaker 2: we respond to, the more light we get. The problem
[25:39] Speaker 2: is atheists want to remain in darkness, oftentimes saying that
[25:42] Speaker 2: nothing creates everything. Life comes from non life, and the
[25:45] Speaker 2: life that comes from non life creates metaphysical realities. That's
[25:49] Speaker 2: what is really hard and takes a tremendous amount of
[25:52] Speaker 2: faith to a here too, not the Christian point of view.
