[0:49] Speaker 1: eighty eight twenty two. Eight hundred six oh six eighty
[0:52] Speaker 1: eight twenty two. That's eight hundred six zero six eighty
[0:57] Speaker 1: eight twenty two.
[0:58] Speaker 2: It's the Doctor Bob Martin and Show.
[1:01] Speaker 3: Good day, health seekers, You are locked into Health Talk
[1:04] Speaker 3: America presents the Doctor Bob Martin Show. I'm doctor Adam Brockman,
[1:09] Speaker 3: and I'm fired up to be with you today. You know,
[1:11] Speaker 3: we're living in a whirlwind of medical breakthroughs, shifting guidelines
[1:16] Speaker 3: and Let's be honest, some pretty shocking headlines that are
[1:20] Speaker 3: going to change the way you look at your medicine
[1:23] Speaker 3: cabinet and also your social calendar, and whether you're out
[1:27] Speaker 3: for your morning walk, prepping your Sunday meal, or just
[1:31] Speaker 3: relaxing with a cup of green tea or coffee. I
[1:34] Speaker 3: want you to lean in. We've got a packed hour
[1:37] Speaker 3: ahead today. We're talking about mega dose weight loss revolution,
[1:43] Speaker 3: a silent epidemic affecting women's brains, and why your heart
[1:47] Speaker 3: might be on a protection clock you didn't know existed
[1:52] Speaker 3: before we dive in the deep end today. Let's remember
[1:55] Speaker 3: that this is your show. If a headline sparks a question,
[1:59] Speaker 3: or you've got a health win to share, I want
[2:02] Speaker 3: you to give us a shout at eight hundred six
[2:05] Speaker 3: zero six eight a two two. Again, that's eight hundred
[2:08] Speaker 3: six zero six eight eight two two. And as always,
[2:12] Speaker 3: everything we discuss, plus our deep dive archives can be
[2:15] Speaker 3: found over at doctor Bob dot com. That's spelling out
[2:19] Speaker 3: the word doctor doct o r bob dot com. All right,
[2:23] Speaker 3: so let's go ahead and get into the news that matters.
[2:27] Speaker 3: This is your health headlines for the week. We're starting
[2:40] Speaker 3: with a headline that hits the wires just days ago,
[2:43] Speaker 3: the FDA has officially green lit the Wagovi HD. That's
[2:49] Speaker 3: a massive seven point two milligram dose of semiglutide. And
[2:53] Speaker 3: for context, the previous ceiling for this was two point
[2:57] Speaker 3: four milligrams, So we're not just nud the needle here,
[3:00] Speaker 3: we are trippling it. The data from the step up
[3:04] Speaker 3: trials is staggering. We're seeing patients lose nearly twenty percent
[3:08] Speaker 3: of their body weight. That's a life changing for someone
[3:12] Speaker 3: that's struggling with morbid obesity. But and there is always
[3:17] Speaker 3: a butt in the world of high dose pharmacology, the
[3:20] Speaker 3: side effects are ramping up. Alongside that efficiency. We're seeing
[3:25] Speaker 3: a significant jump in diesthesia. So what is that. That's
[3:29] Speaker 3: a fancy term for skin sensations that have gone haywire.
[3:33] Speaker 3: We're talking about patients reporting burning, tingling, or extreme sensitivity
[3:39] Speaker 3: to touch, almost like a localized sunburn that really isn't there.
[3:43] Speaker 3: And if you couple that with the standard will go
[3:46] Speaker 3: be nausea. We're asking a lot of the human body.
[3:50] Speaker 3: And for those who hate needles, the FDA has also
[3:54] Speaker 3: approved a twenty five milligram oral version it's convenient, but
[4:00] Speaker 3: it raises the stakes on how we manage these medications
[4:03] Speaker 3: long term. So if you are on a GLP one
[4:07] Speaker 3: and you've hit that plateau, don't just demand that HD
[4:11] Speaker 3: version immediately. Your nervous system needs a vote here as well,
[4:16] Speaker 3: So discuss that potential for the skin sensitivity. Discuss that
[4:20] Speaker 3: with your doctor, your healthcare provider, and ensure that your
[4:23] Speaker 3: protein intake is high enough to protect your muscle mass
[4:26] Speaker 3: as that fat starts to drop off. And if you've
[4:28] Speaker 3: got questions about the new doses, remember you can always
[4:31] Speaker 3: ask us a question at eight hundred six zero six
[4:34] Speaker 3: eight eight two to two or by visiting our website
[4:36] Speaker 3: that's doctor Bob dot com. And next next up is
[4:40] Speaker 3: a real wake up call for the quick fixed crowd.
[4:44] Speaker 3: We've known that GLP one drugs like will Go be
[4:48] Speaker 3: an ozempic, they offer these incredible, almost unbelievable in some cases,
[4:53] Speaker 3: these heart protective benefits. It reduces the risk of strokes
[4:57] Speaker 3: and heart attacks. But a massive new study involving over
[5:01] Speaker 3: three hundred and thirty thousand patients has revealed a clip.
[5:06] Speaker 3: This study found that once a patient stops the medication,
[5:10] Speaker 3: those heart benefits start to evaporate. So within six months
[5:14] Speaker 3: the protection begins to fade, and by eighteen months the
[5:18] Speaker 3: cardiovascular risk it returns to exactly where it was before
[5:21] Speaker 3: taking the drug. So if you think of that as
[5:24] Speaker 3: like an umbrella, it keeps you dry while you're holding it,
[5:28] Speaker 3: but the second you put it down, you're getting soaked. Right.
[5:32] Speaker 3: This proves that drugs aren't curing the underlying that, in
[5:37] Speaker 3: this case, the metabolic dysfunction. They are simply managing it,
[5:41] Speaker 3: which in some cases is very much needed. So don't
[5:45] Speaker 3: view these medications as a six month reset. If you
[5:49] Speaker 3: plan to transition off, you also need to change your lifestyle,
[5:54] Speaker 3: your diet, your movement, your stress management. That must be
[6:00] Speaker 3: in place before you stop the medication. So it can't
[6:03] Speaker 3: park the car and expect it to keep moving without
[6:06] Speaker 3: an engine. All right, So this next headline, it breaks
[6:11] Speaker 3: my heart, but it's one we absolutely need to talk
[6:14] Speaker 3: about and tackle. There's new research that has uncovered a
[6:18] Speaker 3: staggering connection between social isolation in the female brain, and
[6:23] Speaker 3: for women that have going through menopause, being lonely or
[6:27] Speaker 3: socially isolated increases the risk of cognitive decline by eight times.
[6:33] Speaker 3: So when we talk about cognitive decline. If we're talking
[6:37] Speaker 3: about in plain English, we're talking about the brain losing
[6:41] Speaker 3: its edge. It starts to have memory lapses, the brain
[6:44] Speaker 3: fog in a faster slide towards dementia and menopause is
[6:49] Speaker 3: already a period of massive hormonal transition. And so when
[6:53] Speaker 3: you add that with loneliness into this mix, it creates
[6:58] Speaker 3: a neurological perfect storm. Our brains, they're social organs. They
[7:04] Speaker 3: require the voltage of human interaction to stay sharp. So
[7:10] Speaker 3: this is a social prescription here. If you are in
[7:13] Speaker 3: this stage of life, your social calendar is just as
[7:16] Speaker 3: important as a calcium supplement. So join a walking club,
[7:21] Speaker 3: a book club or group, or a community garden. Reach
[7:25] Speaker 3: out to one person each day. Protecting your brain requires
[7:29] Speaker 3: protecting your tribe as well. And we have new guidelines
[7:35] Speaker 3: for dyslipidemia, which is a medical term for unhealthy levels
[7:40] Speaker 3: of fat in the blood, and it's officially officially it's shifted.
[7:44] Speaker 3: The medical community is finally realizing that waiting until someone
[7:48] Speaker 3: is fifty five or sixty to look at their arteries
[7:51] Speaker 3: is like waiting for a house to be on fire
[7:55] Speaker 3: before checking the smoke detector. This new push, it's easy
[8:01] Speaker 3: in it's earlier for heart screening, specifically utilizing calcium scans.
[8:07] Speaker 3: These are quick scans and they look for hard plaque
[8:10] Speaker 3: in your coronary arteries. We're also looking at advanced lipid
[8:15] Speaker 3: markers like APO B and LPA, which give us a
[8:21] Speaker 3: much clearer picture of your risk rather than just the
[8:24] Speaker 3: total cholesterol levels. So we're seeing forty year olds with
[8:29] Speaker 3: arteries of seventy year olds because of processed diets and
[8:32] Speaker 3: sedentary lifestyles, and catching this early means we can reverse
[8:37] Speaker 3: that trend without needing a bypass surgery down the line.
[8:41] Speaker 3: So for you listening, you can ask your doctor for
[8:44] Speaker 3: a baseline heart health panel that includes a calcium scan
[8:49] Speaker 3: in that ApoB test. Knowledge is power, but only if
[8:54] Speaker 3: you have it before that event happens. So we have
[8:58] Speaker 3: to also talk about what's happened in South Carolina. We're
[9:00] Speaker 3: seeing a surge that has hit nearly a thousand cases
[9:05] Speaker 3: and we're talking about that measles in twenty twenty six.
[9:09] Speaker 3: This is shocking. The measles isn't just a rash in
[9:12] Speaker 3: a fever. It's a highly contagious respiratory virus that can
[9:16] Speaker 3: lead to serious complications. So the big part of this
[9:20] Speaker 3: is how quickly it spreads in pockets and where vaccine
[9:25] Speaker 3: uptake has dropped. And this is not to be a
[9:28] Speaker 3: political debate. It's a biological reality. When the herd immunity
[9:33] Speaker 3: breaks that the most vulnerable among us infants in those
[9:37] Speaker 3: immunal compromise are the ones that pay the price. So
[9:40] Speaker 3: if you're a nice high outbreak, areas ensure that you
[9:44] Speaker 3: and your family or protected boost your immune system, look
[9:47] Speaker 3: at your community health. So, folks, the world of health
[9:50] Speaker 3: is moving faster than ever, from the seven point two
[9:52] Speaker 3: milligram injections to that simple, profound power of a conversation
[9:56] Speaker 3: that can save your brain. The common trend in control.
[10:01] Speaker 3: You have the power to take control of your longevity.
[10:03] Speaker 3: You're not a passenger in your own body. You are
[10:06] Speaker 3: the pilot, whether it's getting that calcium scan, joining a
[10:10] Speaker 3: social group, or being cautious with the latest megadose trend.
[10:15] Speaker 3: Your choices today dictate the quality of life ten years

[12:47] Speaker 3: Nutrition Month, and I want to discuss this today. Now.
[12:51] Speaker 3: I know what some of you are already thinking, Oh great,
[12:54] Speaker 3: another month where someone tells me I can't have my
[12:58] Speaker 3: Friday night pizza. But hang on for a second, and
[13:02] Speaker 3: we're not talking about deprivation. We're talking about propulsion. We're
[13:07] Speaker 3: talking about the high octane biofuel that determines whether your
[13:12] Speaker 3: body runs like a precision tuned Italian sports car or
[13:17] Speaker 3: a rusted out today and that's been left in the
[13:20] Speaker 3: field since nineteen ninety four. So if you're just joining us,
[13:24] Speaker 3: you can always catch the full archives of this show
[13:28] Speaker 3: over at Doctor Bob dot com. Again, that's doctor Bob
[13:31] Speaker 3: dot com. Spell with the word doctor doct r Bob
[13:34] Speaker 3: dot com. And remember our phone lines are open. If
[13:38] Speaker 3: you've got a question about your own internal fuel tank,
[13:42] Speaker 3: you can give us a rain at eight hundred six
[13:45] Speaker 3: zero six eight eight two two. Again that's eight hundred
[13:48] Speaker 3: six zero six eight eight two two. So let's go
[13:51] Speaker 3: ahead and get real for a minute. We're living in
[13:54] Speaker 3: a time of nutritional irony. We have more food available
[13:59] Speaker 3: to us than any civilization in human history, yet we
[14:03] Speaker 3: are arguably the most malnourished generation to walk the earth.
[14:08] Speaker 3: And you think, well, how is that possible? Because we've
[14:12] Speaker 3: swapped food for food like substances. I call it nutritional bankruptcy.
[14:20] Speaker 3: We are overfed but undernourished. We are filling our bellies
[14:25] Speaker 3: with nutritional ghost towns. Or we're talking about processed snacks
[14:29] Speaker 3: in convenient meals. You know, we're talking about you know,
[14:32] Speaker 3: in our body, our body's chemistry, the enzymes, the vitality,
[14:36] Speaker 3: they're processed right out of our foods. It's shocking to
[14:41] Speaker 3: realize that nearly sixty percent I think maybe even higher
[14:44] Speaker 3: than that of our calories against sixty percent of our
[14:47] Speaker 3: calories in the American diet now are from ultra processed foods.
[14:53] Speaker 3: These aren't just empty calories. These are biological disruptors. They
[14:59] Speaker 3: mess with your whole They spike your insulin levels, your
[15:02] Speaker 3: blood sugar levels, and they send a red alert signal
[15:06] Speaker 3: to your immune system that triggers systemic inflammation. And when
[15:11] Speaker 3: we talk about chronic diseases, you know, the diabetes, the
[15:15] Speaker 3: heart disease, the obesity, we often treat them like they
[15:19] Speaker 3: are just random lightning bolts from the sky, and they aren't.
[15:24] Speaker 3: Research shows that a huge eighty percent of chronic conditions
[15:29] Speaker 3: are directly linked to lifestyle and diet. Let me repeat
[15:33] Speaker 3: that eighty percent of chronic conditions are linked to lifestyle
[15:37] Speaker 3: and diet. That that should be a wake up call
[15:40] Speaker 3: for all of us, but more importantly, it should also
[15:44] Speaker 3: be an empowerment call. It means that the steering wheel
[15:49] Speaker 3: is in your hands. So in my practices, I don't
[15:53] Speaker 3: just look at how you are moving today. I look
[15:57] Speaker 3: at how you're going to be moving twenty years from now.
[16:00] Speaker 3: If you want to use the term biohacking, I want
[16:04] Speaker 3: to see you biohack your way to one hundred, which
[16:08] Speaker 3: is something we've talked about on the show before and
[16:13] Speaker 3: nutrition is the foundation of that longevity. And so every
[16:17] Speaker 3: time you pick up a fork, you are literally talking
[16:20] Speaker 3: to your genes. It's called nutri genomics. It's the signals
[16:25] Speaker 3: of repair and thrive, or it can make signals of
[16:29] Speaker 3: decay and decline. And if you think about your cells
[16:34] Speaker 3: like a construction site, if you are sending the workers
[16:37] Speaker 3: nothing but cheap, flimsy plastic instead of solid steel in
[16:42] Speaker 3: season timber, the building just isn't going to stand the
[16:46] Speaker 3: test of time. Your steel is your high quality proteins,
[16:51] Speaker 3: your timber is your healthy fats, and your electrical system
[16:56] Speaker 3: is that vast array of vitamins and minerals that are
[16:59] Speaker 3: found and colorful and whole foods. So this year we're
[17:05] Speaker 3: you know, this month here we're talking about nutrition and
[17:09] Speaker 3: uh and it, you know, urge you to power your
[17:12] Speaker 3: day with that nutrition. It shifts the focus from what
[17:17] Speaker 3: can't I have to what can I add to make
[17:20] Speaker 3: me feel more like a superhero. We need to stop
[17:24] Speaker 3: looking at the grocery store as a place to satisfy
[17:28] Speaker 3: cravings and start looking at as a as a pharmacy.
[17:31] Speaker 3: When you walk into that produce section, you are looking
[17:35] Speaker 3: at nature's most potent medicine. Those deep reds in your beats,
[17:41] Speaker 3: they are are essential for supporting detoxification and heart health.
[17:46] Speaker 3: And the vibrant blues that are in blueberries. They act
[17:50] Speaker 3: as a shield for your brain with those antioxidants. So
[17:55] Speaker 3: we've got to get to get back to that power
[17:58] Speaker 3: of color. If your plate is mostly beige or brown
[18:02] Speaker 3: bread or meat potatoes, you're missing out on the spectrum
[18:07] Speaker 3: of light and energy that your body needs to fight
[18:09] Speaker 3: off oxidative stress. I tell my patients all the time,
[18:14] Speaker 3: if it comes from a plant, eat it. If it's
[18:16] Speaker 3: made in a plant, we're talking about a factory, got
[18:20] Speaker 3: to be you gotta be careful of those choices. Moderation
[18:22] Speaker 3: is the key there. And I know, I know it's
[18:26] Speaker 3: tempting to look for that magic pill, like we just
[18:29] Speaker 3: talked about in our health headlines about the new megadose
[18:32] Speaker 3: weight loss drugs and also these latest reset buttons, And
[18:38] Speaker 3: while those do have their place in clinical medicine, they're
[18:42] Speaker 3: not a substitute for the fundamental building blocks of human
[18:46] Speaker 3: health that you need through nutrition. And in fact, new
[18:50] Speaker 3: data is suggesting that the heart protective benefits of some
[18:55] Speaker 3: of these blockbuster. The drugs, the weight loss drugs can
[18:59] Speaker 3: actually start to fade this, as we discussed in the
[19:02] Speaker 3: health headlines, if the underlying nutritional intake isn't addressed. It's
[19:08] Speaker 3: a classic case of conventional versus holistic medicine. I don't
[19:15] Speaker 3: want to give you just the what. I also want
[19:17] Speaker 3: to show you the how. So here are just three
[19:20] Speaker 3: simple steps that you can do today to celebrate Nutrition
[19:24] Speaker 3: Month and start firing up your own health. Let's talk
[19:28] Speaker 3: about a eighty twenty rule, but maybe make it with
[19:31] Speaker 3: a twist. So aim for eighty percent of your food
[19:34] Speaker 3: to be from single ingredient foods. If the ingredient list
[19:38] Speaker 3: is just apple or salmon or spinach, you're winning. In
[19:42] Speaker 3: the other twenty percent, that's your wiggle room, that's your moderation.
[19:46] Speaker 3: So life is for living, right after all? Right, you
[19:49] Speaker 3: can't deprive yourself all the time. And I also wants
[19:52] Speaker 3: you to hydrate with intent, and before you reach for
[19:55] Speaker 3: that second cup of coffee or a diet soft drink,
[19:59] Speaker 3: drink sixteen ounces of pure filtered water. Your cell They
[20:04] Speaker 3: need a fluid environment to conduct the business of life.
[20:07] Speaker 3: So dehydration is often mistaken for hunger and it's the
[20:11] Speaker 3: fastest way to feel sluggish and foggy. And go ahead
[20:15] Speaker 3: and audit your pantry this month. Go through your cabinets.
[20:19] Speaker 3: If you see high fruitose, corn syrup, or hydrogenated oils,
[20:24] Speaker 3: or a list of chemicals that you can't pronounce, consider
[20:27] Speaker 3: it hazard waste. Toss it. Your body will thank you
[20:31] Speaker 3: for that. So we are arming you with the truth
[20:34] Speaker 3: because we want you to take control of your health destiny.
[20:37] Speaker 3: You aren't a victim of genetics as you may have
[20:41] Speaker 3: been told. You're actually the architect of your own health
[20:44] Speaker 3: and vitality. And folks, we've got a massive community of

[23:44] Speaker 3: to cavities and plaque while keeping your breath fresh all
[23:47] Speaker 3: day long. You see harmful bacteria in your mouth love sugar,

[23:58] Speaker 3: those bad bacteria they're star out and your mouth stays imbalanced,
[24:03] Speaker 3: it stays in a healthy state, and your enamel stays strong.
[24:07] Speaker 3: And the Spry system uses xylotol in every product, from
[24:11] Speaker 3: their refreshing toothpaste and soothing mouthwashes to their delicious gum
[24:15] Speaker 3: and mints. And you can choose classic flavors like peppermint
[24:20] Speaker 3: or spearmint, or you can you can even choose warming cinnamon,
[24:23] Speaker 3: and each one leaves your mouth feeling fresh and clean,
[24:27] Speaker 3: without harsh chemicals or artificial aftertastes. It's a smart way
[24:32] Speaker 3: to care for your smile naturally. And here's my daily routine,
[24:37] Speaker 3: and this is what it looks like. I brush with
[24:39] Speaker 3: Spry toothpaste, I rinse with Spry mouthwash, and I grab
[24:43] Speaker 3: a piece of Spry xylotol gum after meals. It's quick,
[24:47] Speaker 3: it's easy, and it works around the clock. The healthier
[24:50] Speaker 3: your mouth in, the healthier you are. And it starts
[24:54] Speaker 3: with that oral health connection, and it's directly a gateway
[24:57] Speaker 3: to your entire body, from your heart to your immune system.

[25:15] Speaker 3: dot com. That's spelled x L e a r dot com.
[25:19] Speaker 3: They also make a xylotol based nasal spray, which you
[25:22] Speaker 3: can find out more about there at clear dot com.
[25:25] Speaker 3: So your smile, it's your introduction to the world, so
[25:29] Speaker 3: why not make it into your healthiest feature. Protect it
[25:33] Speaker 3: the natural way with the spray dental defense system. Your
[25:37] Speaker 3: teeth will feel cleaner, your breath fresher, and your confidence
[25:40] Speaker 3: higher than ever. So go ahead, make this the day
[25:44] Speaker 3: you give your smile a fresh start with Spry. All right,
[25:48] Speaker 3: it's time for this week's health alternative. I want you
[26:06] Speaker 3: to picture your DNA like a high security vault, and
[26:10] Speaker 3: modern life keeps trying to pick that lock. We got
[26:13] Speaker 3: exhaust fumes and industrial chemicals, pesticide residues, even that new
[26:19] Speaker 3: car smell. It all adds up to this daily molecular
[26:23] Speaker 3: mess that your body has to process. And so as
[26:27] Speaker 3: we're continuing this nutrition moth, let's dive in today to
[26:31] Speaker 3: the microscopic world of your cells, where longevity is either
[26:35] Speaker 3: getting built or it's quietly being bulldozed. And most people
[26:40] Speaker 3: look at nutrition like a simple math equation. You got
[26:43] Speaker 3: calories in versus calories out. But if you've been hanging
[26:46] Speaker 3: out with us for some time on the show, you
[26:49] Speaker 3: know that that's high school level stuff. We're moving on
[26:52] Speaker 3: to a different level of wellness today. We're not just
[26:55] Speaker 3: talking about fueling your body. We're talking about programming biological software.
[27:01] Speaker 3: So every single breath that you take in our modern world,
[27:05] Speaker 3: especially if you live in a city or near an
[27:07] Speaker 3: industrial zone, that's a gamble. We are swimming in the
[27:11] Speaker 3: sea of benzene pollutants and oxidative stress. But what if
[27:17] Speaker 3: I told you that there was a master switch inside
[27:19] Speaker 3: your DNA that could flip on a localized pharmacy producing
[27:24] Speaker 3: the most powerful antioxidants that are known to man. So
[27:28] Speaker 3: this week's health alternative isn't a fancy new pharmaceutical drug
[27:33] Speaker 3: with a list of side effects longer than a CBS receipt.
[27:36] Speaker 3: It's a compound called sephora fane and it's found in
[27:40] Speaker 3: a humble little vegetable that you probably pushed around your
[27:44] Speaker 3: plate as a kit. So let's be honest. The standard
[27:47] Speaker 3: American diet is it's a cellular disaster. We are overfed
[27:52] Speaker 3: and under nourished. But the real strategy is how we've
[27:55] Speaker 3: lost our ability to detoxify. Our bodies are equipped with
[28:00] Speaker 3: phase two detoxification system. It's a built in ganitor crew
[28:05] Speaker 3: that mops up these carcinogens and neutralizes free radicals. But
[28:10] Speaker 3: the problem is that the crew has been on strike
[28:13] Speaker 3: for decades because we're not giving them the right chemical signals.
[28:18] Speaker 3: This is where most people reach for a vitamin C
[28:21] Speaker 3: tablet or a generic multi vitamin. Now, don't get me wrong,
[28:25] Speaker 3: those are fine, we need those, but direct antioxidants are
[28:29] Speaker 3: the one and done. One molecule of vitamin C neutralizes
[28:33] Speaker 3: one free radical and then it's spent. It's like trying
[28:37] Speaker 3: to put out a forest fire with a single squirt gun.
[28:40] Speaker 3: So we need to sprinkler system. We need a fire hydrant.
[28:43] Speaker 3: We need to activate something known as the n r
[28:47] Speaker 3: F two pathway. So if you want to live to
[28:51] Speaker 3: be one hundred, or live healthy through the years that
[28:54] Speaker 3: you are and actually enjoy that ride, you need to
[28:57] Speaker 3: memorize these four characters and r F two. Think of
[29:01] Speaker 3: nr F two as a master regulator or a general
[29:04] Speaker 3: of your cellular defense. When n r F two is activated,
[29:08] Speaker 3: it travels through the nucleus of your cells and it
[29:11] Speaker 3: tells your DNA to start cranking out antioxidants like glutathione
[29:17] Speaker 3: or other catalysts for this. These aren't just settlements that
[29:21] Speaker 3: you swallow. These are heavy hitters your body actually creates internally.
[29:26] Speaker 3: So one molecule of n r F two activated enzyme,
[29:30] Speaker 3: it can neutralize thousands of free radicals every second, and
[29:33] Speaker 3: it works for hours, even days. It's the ultimate DNA
[29:38] Speaker 3: detox in. The most potent natural activator of this pathway
[29:42] Speaker 3: is it's sulfur of fame. And now this is this
[29:48] Speaker 3: is what matters here because it's very simple. It's in.
[29:51] Speaker 3: It's in brocoly So if you want that real biological gold,
[29:56] Speaker 3: you have to go even smaller. I'm talking about broccol sprouts.
[29:59] Speaker 3: Research has shown that three day old broccoli sprouts contain
[30:03] Speaker 3: anywhere from fifty to one hundred times the concentration of
[30:08] Speaker 3: the precursor of Sephora fane than a mature plant. So
[30:13] Speaker 3: you could literally eat a bucket of steam broccoli and
[30:16] Speaker 3: still not get the NRF two activation you get from
[30:19] Speaker 3: a small handful of fresh sprouts on your salad every day.
[30:23] Speaker 3: It's broccoli sprouts. It's pretty simple, it's easy to find,
[30:26] Speaker 3: it's readily available. So again, folks, if you have questions
[30:31] Speaker 3: how to integrate this into a specific health regime, or
[30:34] Speaker 3: if you have a chronic issue that you're dealing with,
[30:37] Speaker 3: or you need a nutritional intervention, you can always reach
[30:40] Speaker 3: out to us. So don't let DNA be a victim
[30:43] Speaker 3: of your environment. Arm yourself with the science of sulfora
[30:46] Speaker 3: fane and broccoli sprouts. That's been your health alternative of
[30:49] Speaker 3: the week, the DNA detox broccoli sprouts. All right, don't
[30:53] Speaker 3: go anywhere. When we come back from a quick break,
[30:56] Speaker 3: we'll keep the momentum going with more smart, practical ways
[30:59] Speaker 3: to protect your by in a not so healthy well.
[31:01] Speaker 3: This is the doctor Bob Martinshell, Doctor Bob Martin with
[31:09] Speaker 3: an important message from doctor Earle Mendel, PhD, pharmacist and author.

[32:14] Speaker 3: Do you know about your body's most important signaling molecule.
[32:18] Speaker 3: It's called nitric oxide, and without it you lose energy,
[32:22] Speaker 3: endurance in circulation from head to toe. That's where doctor

[33:17] Speaker 3: N one oh one dot com.
[33:21] Speaker 2: Sorry, the number one.
[33:42] Speaker 3: Welcome back to the Doctor Bob Martin Show right here
[33:44] Speaker 3: on Health Talk America. Doctor Adam Brockman with you today
[33:48] Speaker 3: and again. We've been talking about nutrition moth and I
[33:50] Speaker 3: want you to picture something inflammation. It's not like a
[33:54] Speaker 3: loud siren. It's more like a slow, smoky kitchen fire
[33:59] Speaker 3: that's behind a You don't always see it, you don't
[34:03] Speaker 3: always feel it, until those alarms go off as joint
[34:06] Speaker 3: pain or stubborn belly fat, high blood pressure, brain fog,
[34:11] Speaker 3: or labs that suddenly look troubling. And here's the part
[34:15] Speaker 3: I want you to know. Chronic inflammatory diseases are linked
[34:18] Speaker 3: to nearly sixty percent of deaths worldwide. That's why I
[34:22] Speaker 3: don't really care about your chronological age. I care about
[34:26] Speaker 3: your biological age. That's the real world wear and tear
[34:30] Speaker 3: that's happening inside your tissues right now. And one of
[34:33] Speaker 3: the most common markers we look at is see reactive protein.
[34:37] Speaker 3: And if the CRP is elevated, your body is basically
[34:41] Speaker 3: in a tinder box. It's it's prime to flare. But
[34:45] Speaker 3: you don't always have to wait for a lab test
[34:47] Speaker 3: to start putting out that fire. So today we're going
[34:51] Speaker 3: to talk about something that's simple, doable, and surprisingly powerful,
[34:55] Speaker 3: and that's a few basic anti inflammatory drinks. Now, let's
[35:00] Speaker 3: this isn't permission to eat ultra process junk all day
[35:03] Speaker 3: and cancel it out with a magic tea at night.
[35:06] Speaker 3: This is about stacking those odds in your favor, and
[35:08] Speaker 3: that's one smart choice at a time. So let's go
[35:11] Speaker 3: ahead and dive in. Let's start with the gold standard
[35:14] Speaker 3: and that's green tea. And if you aren't sipping this
[35:17] Speaker 3: on a regular basis, you're leaving a major longevity tool
[35:21] Speaker 3: on the table. You see, green tea is loaded with
[35:24] Speaker 3: a powerhouse polyphenol that helps to neutralize oxidative stress, which
[35:29] Speaker 3: that oxidative stress, as we discuss, is like brust on
[35:32] Speaker 3: your cells. And this is why green tea shows up
[35:36] Speaker 3: in so many those centurian conversations, the ones that live longer.
[35:42] Speaker 3: It doesn't just support your inflammation balance, it supports your
[35:47] Speaker 3: gut microbiome. And roughly seventy percent of your immune system
[35:51] Speaker 3: is tied to the gut associated lymph tissue. So the
[35:55] Speaker 3: translation is when your gut is inflamed, your whole system
[35:59] Speaker 3: pays the price. And those here's a quick reality check.
[36:04] Speaker 3: Those coffee shop green tea lattes are often more milk
[36:07] Speaker 3: and sugar dessert than actually a health drink. So if
[36:10] Speaker 3: your goal is to cool that inflammation, sugar is continuing
[36:14] Speaker 3: to be that gasoline. So keep it simple, plain green
[36:16] Speaker 3: tea macha with unsweetened milk or even a squeeze of lemon.
[36:22] Speaker 3: So for the sports medicine crowd and honestly, anybody with
[36:26] Speaker 3: cranky joints. This next drink is big. It's it's tart
[36:30] Speaker 3: cherry juice. It's packed with anthoscians that those are the
[36:34] Speaker 3: pigments that give cherries that deep red color, and these
[36:37] Speaker 3: compounds are well known for helping reduce exercise, induce muscle soreness,
[36:42] Speaker 3: and also systemic inflammation. So in practice, I've seen people
[36:46] Speaker 3: with gout tendencies and nagging joint pain do really well
[36:50] Speaker 3: adding tart cherry consistently, and it's not crazy to see
[36:54] Speaker 3: something like a thirty to fifty percent reduction in flare
[36:57] Speaker 3: ups for some folks when the rest their lifestyle is
[37:01] Speaker 3: moving in that right direction too. So next up, let's
[37:05] Speaker 3: talk about kombuka. And I get it that fermented smell
[37:08] Speaker 3: can be a little intense, but if you're dealing with
[37:10] Speaker 3: chronic inflammation, we have to talk about this. A lot
[37:15] Speaker 3: of systemic inflammation starts with gut dysfunction and when people
[37:19] Speaker 3: commonly call leaky gut, where the barrier gets irritated and
[37:23] Speaker 3: you end up with more immune activation than you should.
[37:27] Speaker 3: Systemic inflammation, right, So, kombuka can deliver live cultures plus
[37:32] Speaker 3: plant compounds like those polyphenols, which help to support a
[37:35] Speaker 3: healthier gut environment. So let's talk about ginger. Ginger contains compounds,
[37:42] Speaker 3: and these aren't just tummy remedy type of compounds. These
[37:45] Speaker 3: are inhibit these pro inflammation cid of kins, which are
[37:50] Speaker 3: basically like chemical text messages that tell your immune system
[37:53] Speaker 3: to stay on high alert. So I'm a big fan
[37:56] Speaker 3: of ginger tea because it's simple and it's cheap, and
[38:00] Speaker 3: if you're waking up stiff, or you're feeling puffy, or
[38:03] Speaker 3: your digestion of sluggish, this is one of the easiest
[38:06] Speaker 3: swaps that you can make. Fresh ginger slices steeped in
[38:09] Speaker 3: hot water and maybe a little lemon and that's it.
[38:12] Speaker 3: It's like turning down the volume on inflammation without needing
[38:14] Speaker 3: a medicine cabinet full of stuff. So this next one
[38:19] Speaker 3: is when I get asked about quite a bit. It's
[38:21] Speaker 3: tumeric and it's the active compound in curcumin, and research
[38:25] Speaker 3: suggests that it can influence up to fifty different inflammatory
[38:29] Speaker 3: pathways in a body, and that's a wide net. But
[38:33] Speaker 3: we've got to be honest about the fine print kurcumin.
[38:36] Speaker 3: We need to increase its bioavailability. So if you're just
[38:39] Speaker 3: sprinkling turmeric into hot water. You're not doing the trick here.
[38:44] Speaker 3: So to actually get kurcumin into your system, you also
[38:46] Speaker 3: want two things, and that's black pepper in a healthy fat.
[38:50] Speaker 3: So that's why I've suggested before a golden milk, and
[38:54] Speaker 3: it works so well. Use coconut milk or unsweetened almond milk,
[38:57] Speaker 3: add turmeric, a pinch of black pepper, maybe cinnamon, and
[39:01] Speaker 3: now you've got a kitchen spice into something that behaves
[39:05] Speaker 3: more like a targeted anti inflammatory tool. So the difference
[39:09] Speaker 3: between that nice idea in this actually moves the needle
[39:13] Speaker 3: is again that black pepper in the healthy fat. And
[39:16] Speaker 3: last on the list today is pomegrant juice, and this
[39:20] Speaker 3: is one of those small amount, big benefit drinks, and
[39:24] Speaker 3: it contains these unique compounds that are only found in
[39:27] Speaker 3: pomegrant that are like antioxidants, and it's been studied for
[39:31] Speaker 3: cardiovascular support and in some research pomegrant intake has even
[39:36] Speaker 3: been associated with improvements and markers that are tied to
[39:39] Speaker 3: that carotid artery health. And so the translation here is
[39:42] Speaker 3: better blood flow and it decreases that inflammatory grime build
[39:47] Speaker 3: up when you don't want it. So here's the truth.
[39:49] Speaker 3: Inflammation doesn't always have to respond to one heroic choice.
[39:55] Speaker 3: It can respond to a pattern. And if you increase
[39:58] Speaker 3: that pro inflammatory lifestyle, well you will do that. So
[40:01] Speaker 3: decrease your ultra processed foods, your sugar intake, and maybe
[40:06] Speaker 3: and add some of these drinks in the mix. All right, folks,
[40:08] Speaker 3: we're coming up on a brake. Stay right there. We're
[40:10] Speaker 3: going to hit our final stretch with the help mystery.
[40:12] Speaker 3: You're listening to the Doctor Bob Martin Show.

[41:31] Speaker 3: Talk America presents The Doctor Bob Martin Show. I'm your host,
[41:35] Speaker 3: Doctor Adam Brockman. Today we're gonna wrap up with our
[41:38] Speaker 3: health mystery. We're diving into a health mystery that affects millions.
[41:59] Speaker 3: It is often treated with the medical equivalent of putting
[42:02] Speaker 3: a piece of tape over a flashing check engine light.
[42:05] Speaker 3: I'm talking about a chronic soul crushing heartburn that refuses
[42:10] Speaker 3: to quit. So let's go ahead and set the scene.
[42:12] Speaker 3: I had a patient come in recently. Jim is fifty two.
[42:16] Speaker 3: He's active, he watches his macros in, he's a regular
[42:19] Speaker 3: at the gym. But for two years Jim felt like
[42:23] Speaker 3: he was swallowing a little blowtorch every time he ate
[42:25] Speaker 3: a steak or a piece of chicken. He did what
[42:28] Speaker 3: many people do. He went and he got a prescription
[42:32] Speaker 3: for a proton pump inhibitor a PPI. So he took
[42:35] Speaker 3: the little purple pill and the fire dimmed, but it
[42:38] Speaker 3: never went out. Then came the side effects, the bloating,
[42:41] Speaker 3: the fatigue, the weird heaviness after meals. So he tried
[42:45] Speaker 3: to switch his diet with no spicy food and no
[42:48] Speaker 3: coffee and let's just say no fun. Right. Still, the
[42:52] Speaker 3: burning persisted. His doctors they told him they had something
[42:56] Speaker 3: known as refractory gird and he might need a higher
[42:59] Speaker 3: dose of acid blocks for the rest of his life.
[43:01] Speaker 3: But here's the problem. Jim wasn't suffering from too much
[43:05] Speaker 3: stomach acid. He was suffering from a little cork shaped
[43:09] Speaker 3: invader that was actually lowering his acid at dangerous levels.
[43:14] Speaker 3: So as a medical detective, you have to ask why
[43:17] Speaker 3: is the body behaving this way. If PPIs weren't working,
[43:21] Speaker 3: it's because they were treating the symptom and not the source.
[43:25] Speaker 3: So I ordered a specific breath test in a comprehensive
[43:29] Speaker 3: stool analysis. So the result was this huge overgrowth of
[43:34] Speaker 3: h Pylori and now H. Plori. It's a fascinating, devious bacteria.
[43:40] Speaker 3: It doesn't just hain out in your gut. It burrows
[43:43] Speaker 3: into the mucous lining of your stomach. So to survive
[43:47] Speaker 3: this acidic environment, it secretes an enzyme and this neutralizes
[43:53] Speaker 3: the acid around it, So it essentially creates its own
[43:56] Speaker 3: safe zone by making your stomach less acidic. So you
[44:00] Speaker 3: might be thinking, well, wait, doctor Adam, what if it
[44:04] Speaker 3: makes this the stomach less acidic, why does Jim feel
[44:07] Speaker 3: like this has its burn? Well, this is a great
[44:10] Speaker 3: paradox of the GI system. When your stomach acid is
[44:14] Speaker 3: too low, your food doesn't digest. It starts to just
[44:18] Speaker 3: sit there and ferments, and it creates gas and it
[44:21] Speaker 3: pushes that tiny bit of remaining acid back up through
[44:24] Speaker 3: the esophagus. So the burning isn't from high acid, it's
[44:28] Speaker 3: from the wrong acid in the wrong place. So, instead
[44:31] Speaker 3: of more acid blockers, which would have played right in
[44:34] Speaker 3: the hands of the bacteria, we went the other way.
[44:37] Speaker 3: We used a natural protocol designed to eradicate that H.
[44:41] Speaker 3: Pylori without nuking the rest of his microbiome in his gut.
[44:45] Speaker 3: So we brought in some heavy hitters mastic gum, and
[44:49] Speaker 3: that's a resin from the Mediterranean that has been shown
[44:52] Speaker 3: to physically disrupt the H. Pylori cell wall. All right,
[44:56] Speaker 3: there you have it. So this wraps up this hour
[44:58] Speaker 3: of the Doctor Bob Martin Show. I'm doctor ad and
[45:00] Speaker 3: Brahman and I want to thank you for spending this
[45:02] Speaker 3: time with me and please join us next time.
