[0:55] Speaker 2: six zero six eighty eight twenty two. It's the Doctor
[0:59] Speaker 2: Bob Martin and Show.
[1:00] Speaker 3: Welcome to the Doctor Bob Martin Show. I'm doctor Adam Brockman,
[1:04] Speaker 3: flying solo this hour, and I've got a lineup of
[1:07] Speaker 3: health headlines today that reads like modern Medicine. Drank and
[1:11] Speaker 3: expresso and hit the gas pedal. We're talking weight loss pills,
[1:15] Speaker 3: blue Light inside the Body, male birth control in a
[1:19] Speaker 3: possible pain treatment breakthrough. And as always, we do this
[1:25] Speaker 3: through the lens of speaking the health truth. That means
[1:28] Speaker 3: we don't just parrot the headline and clap politely. We
[1:32] Speaker 3: ask the bigger question, what does this actually mean for
[1:36] Speaker 3: your body, your choices, in your longevity, because the gap
[1:41] Speaker 3: between hype and help can be wider than people realize.
[1:45] Speaker 3: And folks, I want your participation in the show. If
[1:49] Speaker 3: you have a health related question or a topic you'd
[1:52] Speaker 3: want us to explore, you just have to dial in
[1:54] Speaker 3: and have your voice heard. Our toll free hotline is
[1:58] Speaker 3: eight hundred six zero six eight A two two, or
[2:02] Speaker 3: if you're shy, you can drop us a line at
[2:05] Speaker 3: doctor Bob dot com. Again that's eight hundred six zero
[2:09] Speaker 3: six eight eight two two, or at doctor Bob dot
[2:12] Speaker 3: com spelling out the word doctor d O C T
[2:15] Speaker 3: O R Bob dot com. All right, let's go ahead
[2:19] Speaker 3: and start this hour with our health headlines of the week.
[2:32] Speaker 3: Let's start with headline number one, and that is the
[2:35] Speaker 3: fast Track pill. The FDA has reportedly approved Eli Lilly's
[2:40] Speaker 3: FANDEO in a record fifty days. Fifty days that is
[2:45] Speaker 3: lightning speed in regulatory time. This is being billed as
[2:50] Speaker 3: a major shift in the obesity conversation because unlike the
[2:54] Speaker 3: injectable GLP one drugs that have been become the household names,
[2:59] Speaker 3: this one comes in pill form, oral instead of injectable,
[3:03] Speaker 3: tablet instead of needle. And yes, this matters a lot
[3:07] Speaker 3: of people who've been reluctant to use the injectable drugs
[3:11] Speaker 3: and are going to see this and think, well, finally
[3:14] Speaker 3: something I can take without feeling like I need a
[3:17] Speaker 3: pregame peptie talk in an alcohol swab. So from a
[3:21] Speaker 3: convenient standpoint, it's a big deal. But here's the health truth.
[3:26] Speaker 3: Obesely is not a simple medication shortage. It rarely is
[3:31] Speaker 3: just about a weak appetite signal in a magic fix
[3:34] Speaker 3: in a capsule form, and excess body weight or body
[3:39] Speaker 3: fat is often the smoke and not the fire. Underneath it,
[3:43] Speaker 3: you may find insulin resistance or chronic stress, or hormone
[3:47] Speaker 3: disruption or ultraprocessed food addiction, and that creates a loss
[3:52] Speaker 3: of muscle mass. So while an oral drug like FUNDEO
[3:57] Speaker 3: may absolutely help some people, let's not pretend a pill
[4:01] Speaker 3: is the full blueprint on metabolic health. That's like repainting
[4:05] Speaker 3: the dashboard while the engine light is still on. So
[4:08] Speaker 3: my perspective on OBEs is this, use every safe tool wisely,
[4:14] Speaker 3: but don't sideline the fundamentals. You need to build muscle.
[4:17] Speaker 3: You need to eat more protein and fiber and cut
[4:21] Speaker 3: back on liquid calories and processed junk. Maybe it's just
[4:24] Speaker 3: as simple as walking after meals. It helps to stabilize
[4:27] Speaker 3: your blood, sugar, and sleep. And if medication enters the conversation, fine,
[4:33] Speaker 3: but use it as a support strategy and not a
[4:36] Speaker 3: replacement strategy. All right, let's move on to the next headline,
[4:40] Speaker 3: and that is internal illumination. Stanford researchers, in a study
[4:45] Speaker 3: that was published in Nature Materials, are using ultrasound to
[4:49] Speaker 3: generate blue light inside the body. That sounds like something
[4:54] Speaker 3: that's dreamed up in a sci fi writer's room, but
[4:56] Speaker 3: it's real and it's fascinating. So instead of shining light
[5:00] Speaker 3: from the outside the body and hoping it reaches the
[5:03] Speaker 3: target tissue, researchers are now using ultrasound to create light
[5:07] Speaker 3: internally in a much more focused way. Now why is
[5:11] Speaker 3: this important Because light based therapies can be useful, but
[5:15] Speaker 3: getting light deep inside tissue has always been a challenge,
[5:19] Speaker 3: so this new approach it may offer a non invasive
[5:22] Speaker 3: pathway to targeted therapies for hard to reach places like
[5:27] Speaker 3: the brain in the gut. That is a great possibility.
[5:31] Speaker 3: Imagine influencing specific cells or circuits without surgery, without massive
[5:37] Speaker 3: collateral damage, and without turning the body into a construction zone. No,
[5:44] Speaker 3: it's not the same thing as blue light from your
[5:46] Speaker 3: phone that's frying your sleep cycle at eleven thirty at
[5:50] Speaker 3: night while you scroll yourself into a cortisol parade. This
[5:54] Speaker 3: is precision medicine, potentially targeted neuromodulation, and potential gut therapy,
[6:02] Speaker 3: and potential future tools that work with morphinesse and less force.
[6:07] Speaker 3: So this gets my attention because medicine too often acts
[6:12] Speaker 3: like a battering ram. Sometimes the body needs a whisper
[6:16] Speaker 3: and not a bulldozer. So we are still very early
[6:19] Speaker 3: on in this research, so let's not start asking for
[6:23] Speaker 3: it at our local urgent care tomorrow morning. It's one
[6:27] Speaker 3: of the most intriguing stories in medicine right now because
[6:30] Speaker 3: it hints at a future where treatment becomes more accurate
[6:34] Speaker 3: and less invasive, in more biologically intelligent. Okay, let's move
[6:40] Speaker 3: on to the next headline, and it is now the
[6:43] Speaker 3: guy's turn. We have Cornell researchers. They're getting major attention
[6:48] Speaker 3: for work involving the JQ one compound as a possible reversible,
[6:54] Speaker 3: non hormonal male birth control option. And let's be honest,
[7:00] Speaker 3: you know, for a long time the contraception conversation has
[7:03] Speaker 3: leaned heavily on women carrying the burden, often with hormone
[7:08] Speaker 3: based options that come with very real side effects. So
[7:12] Speaker 3: JQ one is different because it doesn't work by bulldozing hormones.
[7:18] Speaker 3: It targets proteins involved in sperm production. And that is
[7:23] Speaker 3: why this is such a notable development, the idea that
[7:27] Speaker 3: fertility could be reduced without permanent shutdown and without hormonal chaos.
[7:33] Speaker 3: So we got reversible and non hormonal. Those are two
[7:37] Speaker 3: phrases that make it a lot of people's attention. Now,
[7:42] Speaker 3: before we throw the confetti, let's keep it grounded. We
[7:45] Speaker 3: need long term human data. We need to know how
[7:49] Speaker 3: reliable it is, how reversible it truly is, and what
[7:53] Speaker 3: the side effects might show up over time. But philosophically,
[7:58] Speaker 3: I like where this points us. The smartest medicine often
[8:01] Speaker 3: solves a problem without blowing up the endocrine system in
[8:05] Speaker 3: the process. So the body body tends to appreciate precision
[8:09] Speaker 3: over all that chaos and drama. And finally, today we
[8:14] Speaker 3: have the pain revolution. Researchers at nih in ni DA
[8:20] Speaker 3: have identified d F and Z and that's a newly
[8:25] Speaker 3: recognized opiate metabolite that appears to provide a pain relief
[8:31] Speaker 3: without the euphoric high or the dangerous respiratory depression that
[8:35] Speaker 3: is seen in traditional opiates. If that finding continues to
[8:39] Speaker 3: hold up, it's enormous. That respiratory depression is one of
[8:43] Speaker 3: the darkest features of opiate drugs. It's that trapdoor under
[8:48] Speaker 3: the stage. It's what turns pain treatment into a lethal gamble.
[8:53] Speaker 3: So the possibility of keeping pain relief while removing the
[8:57] Speaker 3: high in that breathing suppress it's a jaw dropping development.
[9:03] Speaker 3: But we also need to add a filter here. Safer
[9:06] Speaker 3: pain medicine would be welcome and desperately welcome if that.
[9:10] Speaker 3: But pain it's not always a chemistry problem alone. It
[9:14] Speaker 3: can be mechanical, it can be inflammatory, it can be neurological, nutritional, emotional, postural,
[9:21] Speaker 3: and stress driven. You know, I work in rehab and
[9:24] Speaker 3: muscule skeletal care. And I can tell you this, A
[9:27] Speaker 3: lot of pain is the body's alarm system that's begging
[9:30] Speaker 3: for interpretation and not just that suppression. So yes, let's
[9:35] Speaker 3: follow dfn Z closely. It could represent a major breakthrough.
[9:40] Speaker 3: But let's also remember that smarter pain care includes rehab
[9:45] Speaker 3: and movement in manual therapy, maybe anti inflammatory, nutrition, sleep,
[9:51] Speaker 3: stress regulation in that root cause investigation. So a better
[9:56] Speaker 3: molecule is great, a better model is even better. So
[10:03] Speaker 3: there you have it, a fast tracked oral obesity drug,
[10:07] Speaker 3: internal blue light generated by ultrasound, a potential non hormonal
[10:13] Speaker 3: male contraceptive in a promising pain reliever without the high
[10:18] Speaker 3: or breathing danger. So, folks, you know new science can
[10:21] Speaker 3: be exciting, but your body still responds to those timeless
[10:25] Speaker 3: principles to move more, eat smarter, sleep deeper, reduce inflammation,
[10:31] Speaker 3: protect your metabolism, and support your immune system before it's
[10:35] Speaker 3: under siege. And never let anybody convince you into thinking
[10:40] Speaker 3: that root cause health no longer matters. All right, folks,
[10:44] Speaker 3: it's time for a quick message. I'm doctor Adam Brockman
[10:47] Speaker 3: and this is the Doctor Bob Martin Show.
[10:49] Speaker 4: Stay with us, Doctor Bob margin with an important message
[11:02] Speaker 4: from doctor Earle Mendel, PhD, pharmacist and author.

[11:11] Speaker 5: valuable than gold was discovered, a pristine health retubernating mineral deposit,
[11:15] Speaker 5: and that discovery inspired a breakthrough joint supplement called Apex

[12:24] Speaker 3: Welcome back everyone. You're listening to the Doctor Bob Bardin Show,
[12:28] Speaker 3: the largest syndicated health show in the nation. I'm your host,
[12:32] Speaker 3: doctor Adam Brockman, and we just went rapid fire through
[12:36] Speaker 3: our health headlines, and if you have questions or you
[12:39] Speaker 3: want us to dive deeper into one of those headlines,
[12:43] Speaker 3: here's your invitation to reach out. You can either dial
[12:47] Speaker 3: our toll free hotline at eight hundred six zero six
[12:51] Speaker 3: eight eight two two. Again, that's eight hundred six zero
[12:54] Speaker 3: six eight A two two, or you can drop us
[12:57] Speaker 3: an email at our website, which is at Doctorbob dot
[13:01] Speaker 3: com and that's spelling out the word doctor docto r
[13:05] Speaker 3: bob dot com. Again, that's eight hundred six zero six
[13:09] Speaker 3: eight eight two two or at doctor Bob dot com. Okay, folks,
[13:14] Speaker 3: right now, it's Stress Awareness Month. But here's the thing.
[13:19] Speaker 3: I'm actually a little tired of awareness. Most of you
[13:24] Speaker 3: are painfully aware that you're stressed. You feel it in
[13:27] Speaker 3: your neck, you feel it in your gut, You definitely
[13:31] Speaker 3: feel it when you look at your maybe it's your
[13:34] Speaker 3: bank account or the evening news. And this year the
[13:38] Speaker 3: theme is be the Change. So I want us to
[13:42] Speaker 3: move past awareness in straight into stress mastery. I want
[13:47] Speaker 3: to arm you with the tools to take control of
[13:50] Speaker 3: your nervous system before it takes control of your longevity.
[13:54] Speaker 3: Because make no mistake, chronic stress is that accelerator for
[14:00] Speaker 3: biological aging. It's like redlining your car's engine while you're
[14:04] Speaker 3: sitting in the driveway. Eventually something is going to blow.
[14:10] Speaker 3: But before we get into the how to, I want
[14:13] Speaker 3: to share a story from my clinic that perfectly illustrates
[14:16] Speaker 3: how stress can wear a very convincing mask. So a
[14:21] Speaker 3: few months back, a gentleman named Gary. He walked into
[14:25] Speaker 3: my office. And Gary was fifty four. He was a
[14:28] Speaker 3: high level v VP for a tech firm, and he
[14:31] Speaker 3: looked like the picture of health. He had expensive suit,
[14:34] Speaker 3: he was fit, he had an athletic build. But the
[14:38] Speaker 3: second he sat down I could see his hands were trembling,
[14:44] Speaker 3: very subtly. But he looked at me and he said, Doc,
[14:48] Speaker 3: I think I have Parkinson's or a brain tumor. My
[14:51] Speaker 3: body is literally vibrating. He told me that he had
[14:56] Speaker 3: been to three different neurologists. They ran MRI's CT scans,
[15:01] Speaker 3: the blood panels, you know, the whole nine yards. Every
[15:05] Speaker 3: single doctor told him the same thing. Everything looks normal,
[15:10] Speaker 3: You're fine. And fine is the most dangerous word in medicine.
[15:15] Speaker 3: It's the f word of the health world. Gary didn't
[15:20] Speaker 3: feel fine. He felt like he was plugged into an
[15:24] Speaker 3: electrical outlet twenty four to seven. He couldn't sleep because
[15:28] Speaker 3: he could feel his the pulse in his ears. He
[15:32] Speaker 3: had developed a hum in his chest. And when we
[15:36] Speaker 3: looked deeper into Gary's lifestyle, that mystery started to unravel.
[15:41] Speaker 3: He wasn't sick in the traditional sense. He was suffering
[15:45] Speaker 3: from a total collapse of his parasympathetic nervous system. He
[15:50] Speaker 3: was living in a state of high beta brain wave activity.
[15:55] Speaker 3: Basically from five am until midnight. He was checking emails
[15:59] Speaker 3: before where his eyes were fully open and responding to
[16:04] Speaker 3: so called emergencies until the moment he hit the pillow.
[16:08] Speaker 3: So his body had stayed in this fight or flight
[16:10] Speaker 3: mode for so long that his adrenal glands were pumping
[16:14] Speaker 3: out cortisol like it was a fire hose, and that
[16:18] Speaker 3: vibration that he felt that was his nervous system being
[16:22] Speaker 3: unable to downregulate. His body had completely forgotten how to
[16:26] Speaker 3: turn off. So he didn't need a surgeon, he needed
[16:30] Speaker 3: a lifestyle overhaul. So Gary's story it might be extreme,
[16:35] Speaker 3: but I see and hear many Gary's every single day,
[16:40] Speaker 3: and one of the biggest culprits of this modern day
[16:43] Speaker 3: vibration is what I call digital overload. Statistics show that
[16:49] Speaker 3: as staggering eighty percent of smartphone users check their phone
[16:53] Speaker 3: within fifteen minutes of waking up. I want you to
[16:56] Speaker 3: think about that, before you've even thanked the universe for
[16:59] Speaker 3: another day of life, you're invited the entire world into
[17:04] Speaker 3: stress you out, You've got work stress, and political chaos,
[17:08] Speaker 3: in social media envy. You invite it right into your
[17:12] Speaker 3: bed before you're awake. So this creates a dopamine loop
[17:18] Speaker 3: that fries your focus and it keeps your cortisol spiked.
[17:22] Speaker 3: So if you want to be that change, you have
[17:25] Speaker 3: to implement a digital sunset. So this is how you
[17:29] Speaker 3: do it. This is why I tell my patience that
[17:32] Speaker 3: the sun should set on our devices thirty minutes before
[17:35] Speaker 3: they intend to sleep. And that blue light that's hitting
[17:38] Speaker 3: your retinas tells your brain it's high noon, and it
[17:41] Speaker 3: suppresses melatonin production and it keeps your brain in that
[17:46] Speaker 3: high beta state. So if you can't go thirty minutes,
[17:49] Speaker 3: start with fifteen minutes, put the phone in another room,
[17:53] Speaker 3: or buy an actual alarm clock. I do you remember
[17:57] Speaker 3: those and stop using your phone as that bedside companion.
[18:03] Speaker 3: Another tool I've been teaching is a concept of third space.
[18:07] Speaker 3: In our hyper connected world, the lines between work you
[18:11] Speaker 3: and home you have been completely blurred. For those of
[18:14] Speaker 3: you working from home, the commute is now a just
[18:18] Speaker 3: ten steps from your desk to the kitchen table. That
[18:22] Speaker 3: third space is the transition period between the first space,
[18:26] Speaker 3: which is work, in the second space, which is your home.
[18:30] Speaker 3: In the old days, the drive home servatives as a
[18:33] Speaker 3: natural buffer. Now we carry the stress of a four
[18:36] Speaker 3: forty five meeting directly into dinner with our spouse and
[18:40] Speaker 3: our kids. So to master stress, you must intentionally create
[18:44] Speaker 3: that third space. It could be a ten minute walk
[18:47] Speaker 3: around the block, or a quick session of stretching, or
[18:51] Speaker 3: simply sitting in your car for silence for five minutes
[18:54] Speaker 3: before you walk through the front door. Use that time
[18:58] Speaker 3: to consciously shed the work persona. And if you don't,
[19:02] Speaker 3: you're just bringing the vibrating executive like Gary home to
[19:06] Speaker 3: your family. Now, let's talk about a biological control all
[19:11] Speaker 3: delete for your brain. When you feel that surge of anxiety,
[19:15] Speaker 3: that tidening in your chest, you don't have to be
[19:17] Speaker 3: a victim to it. You have the manual override for
[19:21] Speaker 3: your nervous system and this is what you do. That's
[19:23] Speaker 3: first up is the four seven to eight breathing and
[19:26] Speaker 3: that was popularized by doctor Andrew Well. It's simple, it's free,
[19:31] Speaker 3: and it's powerful. And this is your three step in
[19:34] Speaker 3: hel through your nose for four seconds, hold that breath
[19:37] Speaker 3: for seven seconds, and force fully exhale through your mouth,
[19:42] Speaker 3: making a little little sound if you will, for about
[19:45] Speaker 3: eight seconds. That ratio forces your heart rate to slow
[19:49] Speaker 3: down and signals the vegus nerve to kick into a
[19:52] Speaker 3: rest and digest response. It's physically impossible to remain in
[19:57] Speaker 3: a full blown panic state if you perform four rounds
[20:00] Speaker 3: of this correctly. And next up is the NSDR or
[20:05] Speaker 3: non sleep deep rest. This is a game changer for
[20:09] Speaker 3: those who feel like Gary. It's a form of guided
[20:13] Speaker 3: relaxation similar to yoga that leads your brain into a
[20:17] Speaker 3: state of deep calm without falling asleep. Just ten to
[20:21] Speaker 3: twenty minutes of that non sleep deep rest can be
[20:25] Speaker 3: more restored sort of for you than a two hour nap.
[20:29] Speaker 3: It lowers baseline cortisol, and it helps to repair those
[20:33] Speaker 3: frayed wires of your nervous system. Okay, so my line
[20:38] Speaker 3: is stress is a choice. Mostly I know that sounds harsh,
[20:42] Speaker 3: but while we can't control the stress or is the traffic,
[20:46] Speaker 3: or your boss or the bills, we can't control our
[20:49] Speaker 3: reaction to them. Chronic stress accounts for up to ninety
[20:53] Speaker 3: percent of all primary care visits, and if the silent
[20:57] Speaker 3: driver of inflammation, heart disease in decline is that is stress,
[21:02] Speaker 3: then we need to learn how to reset it. So
[21:04] Speaker 3: don't wait until you're vibrating like Gary to use this seriously.
[21:08] Speaker 3: Start your digital sunset tonight, reclaim your third space tomorrow,
[21:13] Speaker 3: and use the four seven eight breathing technique the next
[21:17] Speaker 3: time someone cuts you off in traffic. We've got plenty
[21:22] Speaker 3: more to cover this hour, including our health Alternative of
[21:24] Speaker 3: the Week with a look at a natural supplement that

[22:16] Speaker 3: to the Doctor Bob Bardin Show. Doctor Adam Brockman here,
[22:20] Speaker 3: and we've been talking about stress awareness this hour, but
[22:24] Speaker 3: I want to pivot to something different, and that's a
[22:27] Speaker 3: biological stress. Look, we're right in the thick of allergy season.
[22:32] Speaker 3: The trees are budding, the grass is turning green, and
[22:36] Speaker 3: for many of you listening, your sinuses are currently screaming
[22:39] Speaker 3: for mercy. We spend so much time spring cleaning our
[22:43] Speaker 3: garages in our closets, but when was the last time
[22:46] Speaker 3: you spring cleaned your microbiome? And I'm talking about the
[22:51] Speaker 3: entry points here, folks. Your nose and your mouth. They
[22:54] Speaker 3: are the front lines of your immune system. And if
[22:57] Speaker 3: you're not washing your nose, you're essentially leaving the front
[23:01] Speaker 3: door wide open for every allergy or pathogen and tail
[23:05] Speaker 3: to set up camp. And that's why I am a
[23:07] Speaker 3: massive advocate for clear nasal sprays in the spray dental
[23:12] Speaker 3: defense system. And here's the deal. Clear nasal spray isn't
[23:16] Speaker 3: your typical sailing spray. And while regular sailing just rinses,
[23:21] Speaker 3: Clear actually prevents the bad guys from sticking to your
[23:25] Speaker 3: nasal tissues in the first place. It's a smart defense.
[23:29] Speaker 3: It moisturizes, it cleanses, and it doesn't have the nasty
[23:34] Speaker 3: rebound effect you get from those chemical laden over the
[23:37] Speaker 3: counter sprays. And don't get me started on the mouth.
[23:41] Speaker 3: If you're still using mouthwash that burns like gasoline, you're
[23:45] Speaker 3: nuking your oral microbiome, both the good and the bad.
[23:50] Speaker 3: And that's why you need Spry. Whether it's the gum,
[23:53] Speaker 3: the mints, or the toothpaste or the mouthwash, Spry uses
[23:57] Speaker 3: the same xylotol power to create and envy where your
[24:00] Speaker 3: teeth stays slick and bacteria stays away. It's the easiest
[24:05] Speaker 3: health hack that you'll ever find. It's time to stop
[24:09] Speaker 3: masking the symptoms and start creating the environment. You can
[24:12] Speaker 3: find Clear and Spry at clear dot com. That's spelled
[24:16] Speaker 3: x L e r dot com, or you can head
[24:19] Speaker 3: over to your local CBS target or sprouts. They're right
[24:23] Speaker 3: there on the shelf waiting to help you breathe easier.
[24:26] Speaker 3: And trust me, your sinuses. Well, thank you, and your
[24:28] Speaker 3: longevity stats will look a whole lot better. Be the
[24:31] Speaker 3: change for your health today starting with spry and clear.
[24:36] Speaker 3: And we often talk about heart health, brain health, and
[24:40] Speaker 3: gut health as the big three of longevity, but I
[24:44] Speaker 3: want to propose a fourth, and that's airway health. If
[24:48] Speaker 3: you are a mouth breather, because your nose is constantly congested,
[24:52] Speaker 3: you are bypassing your body's natural filtration system. Mouth breathing
[24:57] Speaker 3: triggers a fight or flight response in your nervous system.
[25:01] Speaker 3: It increases your heart rate and can even change the
[25:04] Speaker 3: structure of your face over time. By using Clear to
[25:09] Speaker 3: keep the nasal passages clear. In this spread dental defense
[25:12] Speaker 3: system to keep your oral cavity alkaline and clean, you're
[25:16] Speaker 3: not just avoiding a cold. You're telling your nervous system
[25:19] Speaker 3: that it's okay to relax. You are moving from a
[25:23] Speaker 3: state of survival to a state of thriving. And statistics
[25:27] Speaker 3: show that people with chronic oral inflammation are at a
[25:30] Speaker 3: significantly higher risk for cardiovascular issues. In some studies suggest
[25:35] Speaker 3: as much as a twenty to thirty percent increase in risk.
[25:39] Speaker 3: And this isn't just about having a menty breath or
[25:42] Speaker 3: a clear nose for your morning jog. This is about
[25:44] Speaker 3: protecting the gatekeepers of your entire biological system. So if
[25:49] Speaker 3: you want to take control of your internal environment this spring,
[25:54] Speaker 3: don't wait until you're already miserable. Longevity is about proactive maintenance,
[25:59] Speaker 3: not react of damage control. So here's your smart defense
[26:03] Speaker 3: protocol for the rest of allergy season and maybe just
[26:07] Speaker 3: continue it on throughout throughout the MANSA ahead. First, start
[26:11] Speaker 3: with the morning flush before you even have your coffee.
[26:15] Speaker 3: Hit each nostril with two sprays of clear. Clear out
[26:19] Speaker 3: the dust and dander that settled while you were sleeping.
[26:22] Speaker 3: Number two, the post meal spry after lunch, pop a
[26:26] Speaker 3: couple of Spry xylotol mints or a piece of spry
[26:30] Speaker 3: gum that resets the pH in your mouth and it
[26:32] Speaker 3: prevents that fuzzy feeling on your teeth while where those
[26:36] Speaker 3: bacteria are thriving. And finally, let's talk about the digital
[26:40] Speaker 3: sunset connection. We talked earlier about that digital sunset for
[26:44] Speaker 3: your brain. Make clear nasal sprays part of that routine
[26:48] Speaker 3: cleanse the day's pollutants out of your nose before your
[26:52] Speaker 3: head hits the pillow to ensure that you're breathing through
[26:56] Speaker 3: your nose all night long. This is just a simple
[26:59] Speaker 3: secret to deep, restorative sleep. So there you have it.
[27:03] Speaker 3: We have the tools to fight back against these invisible invasions,
[27:08] Speaker 3: so don't let allergies get the best of you. Arm
[27:10] Speaker 3: yourself with the science as xylotol, and that's through the
[27:13] Speaker 3: spry dental defense system in clear nasal sprays. Protect your
[27:17] Speaker 3: microbiome and take control of your health from the very
[27:20] Speaker 3: first breath of the day. Okay, I think we have
[27:23] Speaker 3: time for a quick question before break. Let's get to
[27:26] Speaker 3: one from Mike in Michigan, and Mike asks what supplements
[27:31] Speaker 3: may help support someone with congestive heart failure. Mike, that
[27:37] Speaker 3: is a important question, and yes, congestive heart failure is
[27:42] Speaker 3: very serious. But the heart is one of the most
[27:45] Speaker 3: adaptable muscles that there are, and when you combine smart nutrition, exercise,
[27:51] Speaker 3: and even evidence based supplements, you can often stabilize or
[27:55] Speaker 3: even strengthen that cardiac engine. But let's go ahead and
[27:59] Speaker 3: start with the fundamentals. First. You must stay consistent with
[28:03] Speaker 3: your prescribed medicine or your medical therapy. I want you
[28:07] Speaker 3: to never replace your medication without supervision, especially in this
[28:11] Speaker 3: case with congestive heart failure. The supplements that we're going
[28:14] Speaker 3: to talk about today are designed to help support your
[28:17] Speaker 3: doctor's work. Number one on this list is going to
[28:20] Speaker 3: be co enzyme Q ten. So congestive heart failure patients
[28:26] Speaker 3: often are depleted in this heart energizing molecule, especially if
[28:30] Speaker 3: they're on statins so supportive. Typical support range is about
[28:35] Speaker 3: two hundred to three hundred milligrams per day. So think
[28:38] Speaker 3: of coenzyme Q ten as that spark plug for the
[28:41] Speaker 3: mitochondrial in the heart cells. It helps to support that
[28:45] Speaker 3: atp your body's biological engine. And next, I want you
[28:50] Speaker 3: to consider a somethlement we just talked about on the show,
[28:53] Speaker 3: which is N one one. It is a nitric oxide
[28:58] Speaker 3: supplement that does wonders for our overall cardiovascular health. Again,
[29:03] Speaker 3: you can find that supplement at N one dot com
[29:08] Speaker 3: and I encourage you to go back and listen to
[29:10] Speaker 3: the episode that just aired recently with doctor Nathan Bryan
[29:14] Speaker 3: of N one oh one. And next, we have magnesium
[29:19] Speaker 3: especially people. You know most people are deficient in this
[29:21] Speaker 3: as critical for muscle relaxation and steady rhythm and vascular tone.
[29:27] Speaker 3: And I suggest using magnesium glycinate in this case, and
[29:32] Speaker 3: a couple of other ones real quick or L carnotine.
[29:37] Speaker 3: It's another favorite of mine. It's like a shuttle that
[29:39] Speaker 3: carries the fatty acids into the heart for clean fuel.
[29:44] Speaker 3: The good fatty acids, I should say, studies have shown
[29:46] Speaker 3: that two grams daily can help to improve exercise tolerance
[29:50] Speaker 3: and reduce fatigue from CHF. You can add d ribos
[29:56] Speaker 3: that's a natural sugar molecule that feeds that energy cycle.
[30:00] Speaker 3: People often notice and proof stamina within just a few
[30:04] Speaker 3: days of using this two to three times a day.
[30:06] Speaker 3: And finally, the good fatty acids, the omega three fish oils.
[30:11] Speaker 3: They reduce inflammation, help to stabilize that heart rhythm. You
[30:15] Speaker 3: can aim for about two to three grams of these
[30:18] Speaker 3: omega threes per day. So that's your healing stack. The
[30:22] Speaker 3: N ONEH one, coenzyme, Q ten, magnesium, L carnatine, d
[30:27] Speaker 3: ribos and omega threes. You need to combine that with movement, hydration,
[30:32] Speaker 3: and clean eating. Those aren't just supplements, they're signals that
[30:36] Speaker 3: tell your heart, hey, let's rebuild. Okay, there you go, Mike,
[30:40] Speaker 3: thank you for again for your question. Let's go ahead
[30:43] Speaker 3: and take a quick break before our health alternative of
[30:45] Speaker 3: the week. You're listening to the Doctor Bob Martin Show.
[30:55] Speaker 3: Do you know about your body's most important signaling molecule.
[30:59] Speaker 3: It's calleditric oxide, and without it you lose energy, endurance
[31:04] Speaker 3: in circulation from head to toe. That's where doctor Nathan
[31:07] Speaker 3: Bryan's N one oh one comes in. They're the world's
[31:11] Speaker 3: nitric oxide innovation experts, backed by Nobel Prize winning science,
[31:16] Speaker 3: helping your body restore its natural power to expand blood vessels,
[31:20] Speaker 3: deliver oxygen and energize every cell. More nitric oxide means
[31:25] Speaker 3: better heart health, faster recovery, and sharper mental focus. And
[31:29] Speaker 3: whether you're an athlete dealing with blood pressure issues are
[31:33] Speaker 3: just wanting to feel years younger, N one oh one
[31:36] Speaker 3: has the proven science based solutions to get you there
[31:39] Speaker 3: naturally and safely, So don't wait for fatigue or poor
[31:43] Speaker 3: circulation to slow you down. Call eight three two seven

[32:00] Speaker 7: Now more than ever, it is important to have a
[32:02] Speaker 7: healthy immune system. Many health professionals agree that probiotics are
[32:06] Speaker 7: a leading natural therapy for boosting immune health. Why because

[33:02] Speaker 5: So you.
[33:08] Speaker 1: So you Dad? I am?
[33:13] Speaker 4: I'm I'm a bush of his number Simoncible, the one
[33:21] Speaker 4: never single Mind's a Bob, I don't need.
[33:29] Speaker 3: I'm Welcome back everyone. I'm doctor Adam Brockman, and you're
[33:39] Speaker 3: listening to Health Talk America presents The Doctor Bob Martin Show.
[33:43] Speaker 3: We're diving back into the thick of things, and it
[33:46] Speaker 3: is time for one of my favorite parts of the show,
[33:49] Speaker 3: which is the health alternative of the Week. Now, before
[34:06] Speaker 3: we get into the what in the how, I want
[34:09] Speaker 3: to prepare you for the woe. If you've ever walked
[34:13] Speaker 3: into a health food store and you've smelled a certain
[34:16] Speaker 3: bottle of herbal supplement and immediately looked around to see
[34:21] Speaker 3: if a pack of wet dogs have been living in
[34:23] Speaker 3: the ventilation system, or perhaps if someone had hidden a
[34:27] Speaker 3: pair of gym socks in the radiator, then you've already
[34:31] Speaker 3: met today's superstar. We're talking about Valerian root. It is
[34:36] Speaker 3: arguably the smelliest, most pungent, and most fragrant, to put
[34:41] Speaker 3: it politely, herb in the nature's pharmacy. But don't let
[34:45] Speaker 3: the scent of a locker room fool you. Beneath that
[34:48] Speaker 3: stinky exteriorize one of the most powerful evidence based tools
[34:52] Speaker 3: for deep sleep and profound muscle relaxation that is known
[34:56] Speaker 3: to mand So if you've ever been tossing and turning,
[35:00] Speaker 3: or if your muscles feel like they've been wound up
[35:03] Speaker 3: like a piano wire, this is a conversation that you've
[35:06] Speaker 3: been waiting for. So in the world of herbal medicine,
[35:09] Speaker 3: that smell is a marker of potency. So when I
[35:13] Speaker 3: see patients in my clinic who are struggling with chronic
[35:16] Speaker 3: tension or insomnia, I often tell them that Nature didn't
[35:19] Speaker 3: design medicine to always be a gourmet experience. Nature designed
[35:24] Speaker 3: it to work. Valerian root has been used for over
[35:28] Speaker 3: two thousand years, and that's dating back to ancient Greece
[35:31] Speaker 3: and Rome. Procrates described its properties, and Galen later prescribed
[35:37] Speaker 3: it for insomnia. They didn't have fancy laboratory extraction methods
[35:42] Speaker 3: back then. They just knew that if you could get
[35:45] Speaker 3: past the smell, your central nervous system would later thank you.
[35:49] Speaker 3: So we live now where everything is sanitized and artificially scented.
[35:53] Speaker 3: We've been conditioned to think good for me equals smells
[35:57] Speaker 3: like lavender or vanilla. But root is a reminder that
[36:01] Speaker 3: real medicine comes from the earth. It's gritty, it's raw,
[36:05] Speaker 3: and it's undeniably effective. So how does the stinky root
[36:10] Speaker 3: actually work? To understand valerian we have to talk about
[36:13] Speaker 3: a little something called gabba and think of gabba as
[36:18] Speaker 3: your brain's natural brake pedal. So when you're stressed, or
[36:21] Speaker 3: you're anxious, or you're unable to sleep, your brain is
[36:24] Speaker 3: like a car with a gas floor, the gas pedal
[36:27] Speaker 3: floored while it's in neutral, so you're having at eight
[36:30] Speaker 3: thousand RPMs, but you aren't going anywhere except towards a burnout.
[36:35] Speaker 3: So valerian root contains valeric acid, which does two amazing things. First,
[36:41] Speaker 3: it stimulates the brain to release more gabba. Second, it
[36:45] Speaker 3: prevents the breakdown of gaba that you already have, so
[36:49] Speaker 3: it's essentially doubling down on your body's ability to chill out.
[36:53] Speaker 3: And many people call valerian root a nature's valume. And
[36:57] Speaker 3: while it does have a catchy nickname, it's actually quite
[37:01] Speaker 3: scientifically accurate. So we got these modern benzodiazepines like valium
[37:07] Speaker 3: and xanax that work on exactly the same GABA receptors. However,
[37:12] Speaker 3: whereas the pharmaceutical versions can leave you feeling like you
[37:17] Speaker 3: hit your brain with a sledgehammer, it leaves you groggy, addicted,
[37:20] Speaker 3: or feeling like a zombie, Valerian root cts more like
[37:24] Speaker 3: a gentle nudge. So we have this comprehensive analysis of
[37:28] Speaker 3: over sixty plus studies that have published that found over
[37:33] Speaker 3: nearly forty years of work found that Valerian root can
[37:36] Speaker 3: significantly improve sleep quality and reduce the time it takes
[37:40] Speaker 3: to fall asleep. So in one of these clinical trials,
[37:43] Speaker 3: thirty percent of women reported improved sleep quality compared to
[37:47] Speaker 3: just four percent in a placebo group. So that's a
[37:50] Speaker 3: seven hundred and fifty percent increase in efficiency over Basically,
[37:56] Speaker 3: you know those numbers. Those are numbers that we can't ignore.
[38:00] Speaker 3: So when you're chronically stressed or you're sleep derived, your
[38:03] Speaker 3: body stays in this sympathetic state, and that's that flight
[38:07] Speaker 3: or the fight or flight mode. This causes your muscles
[38:11] Speaker 3: to say hypersensitive, so you're not just just tired, you're
[38:16] Speaker 3: physically bracing for a disaster that never comes. And this
[38:20] Speaker 3: is where Valerian root shines. By increasing those GABA levels,
[38:24] Speaker 3: it doesn't just calm the mind, it sends a cease
[38:27] Speaker 3: and desist order to the muscles. It allows the physical
[38:30] Speaker 3: body to finally drop its guard. So when my patients
[38:34] Speaker 3: take valerian there are recovery times. As far as sports
[38:37] Speaker 3: medicine and rehab go often speed up because their bodies
[38:40] Speaker 3: are actually resting during the night. You don't heal when
[38:44] Speaker 3: you're awake, you heal when you're in deep restorative sleep.
[38:48] Speaker 3: So one of the biggest mistakes people make with valarian
[38:51] Speaker 3: root is treating it like advild. They take it one capsule,
[38:53] Speaker 3: wait thirty minutes, and say, I don't feel anything. Valerian
[38:57] Speaker 3: It's not a one and done miracle. It's a cumulative herb.
[39:01] Speaker 3: So these research it shows that while some people feel
[39:04] Speaker 3: it the first night, the real therapeutic benefit typically kicks
[39:07] Speaker 3: in after one to two weeks of consistent nightly use.
[39:11] Speaker 3: You have to have that build up in the system,
[39:14] Speaker 3: and you have to give your GABBA receptors times time
[39:17] Speaker 3: to recalibrate. So the good thing is there's no hangover.
[39:20] Speaker 3: Unlike many of those overcounter sleep aids that leave you
[39:23] Speaker 3: feeling like your head is filled with that codd the
[39:26] Speaker 3: next morning, Valerian root typically has no hanover effect. You'll
[39:30] Speaker 3: wake up refreshed because you actually achieve that deep stage sleep.
[39:36] Speaker 3: So there you have it. I want to arm you
[39:38] Speaker 3: with this knowledge. Don't be afraid of this stinky secret.
[39:41] Speaker 3: Embrace it. Your muscles will be looser, your mind will
[39:44] Speaker 3: be clearer and you'll finally get the rest that you deserve.
[39:48] Speaker 3: It's Valerian Root, your health alternative of the week. All right,
[39:52] Speaker 3: we'll be right back in just a second. You're listening
[39:54] Speaker 3: to the Doctor Bob Martin Show. Catch you on the

[41:23] Speaker 3: listening to the Doctor Bob Martin Show, and I'm doctor
[41:26] Speaker 3: Adam Brockman, and folks, we've reached the end of this
[41:30] Speaker 3: hour and I want to go ahead and close with
[41:33] Speaker 3: our health mystery of the Week. I want you to
[41:41] Speaker 3: imagine walking into a high stakes courtroom in the middle
[41:44] Speaker 3: of a brutal Chicago winner. The wind is howling outside,
[41:48] Speaker 3: everyone is wearing three layers of wool in the air
[41:52] Speaker 3: is as gray as it is wet. Then you see Margaret.
[41:56] Speaker 3: Margaret is a powerhouse attorney. She's a litter closer who
[42:01] Speaker 3: handles huge acquisitions before her second cup of coffee. But
[42:05] Speaker 3: today Margaret looks different. She has a deep golden bronze
[42:11] Speaker 3: tan that looks like she just spent three weeks on
[42:13] Speaker 3: a private beach in the Maladives. You'd think that she
[42:17] Speaker 3: was the picture of health, right, but here's the reality.
[42:20] Speaker 3: Margaret hasn't left the city in six months. She's dragging
[42:24] Speaker 3: her feet like they're made of lead. In during a
[42:27] Speaker 3: ten minute recess. She isn't reaching for a water bottle
[42:30] Speaker 3: or protein bar. She's tearing open packets of salt from
[42:34] Speaker 3: the cafeteria and licking them clean. So this isn't a quirk,
[42:38] Speaker 3: this isn't a wellness glow. This is a medical siren.
[42:42] Speaker 3: Margaret's winter tan was actually the first big clue in
[42:45] Speaker 3: this mystery. You know, most doctors look at this high
[42:48] Speaker 3: achieving woman with fatigue and say, you're stressed, you're depressed,
[42:51] Speaker 3: take a vacation. But that ignores the physiological reality of
[42:55] Speaker 3: what happens when the communication line between your brain and
[42:59] Speaker 3: you're adrenal glands completely snaps. She wasn't just tired, she
[43:03] Speaker 3: was depleted. Her blood pressure was bottoming out at ninety
[43:06] Speaker 3: over sixty. She felt dizzy every time she stood up
[43:09] Speaker 3: to address her judge. It wasn't just a tan. It
[43:13] Speaker 3: was a condition called Addison's disease. And that's a primary
[43:16] Speaker 3: adrenal insufficiency, and that's the bodies it stops producing enough cortisol,
[43:22] Speaker 3: and when the brain senses this, it starts to pump
[43:24] Speaker 3: out a hormone to try to jumpstart the adrenals. The
[43:27] Speaker 3: problem is this hormone shares a molecular precursor with a
[43:32] Speaker 3: hormone that stimulates your skin's pigment cells. So the result
[43:36] Speaker 3: that you turn bronze when your internal battery is hitting zero.
[43:41] Speaker 3: And what does she do. She turns to salt. So
[43:43] Speaker 3: let's talk about salt. We've been told for decades that
[43:46] Speaker 3: salt is the enemy, the white crystal, a death for
[43:49] Speaker 3: our blood pressure. But for someone like Margaret, salt was
[43:52] Speaker 3: her lifeline. Your adrenal glands produce a hormone that's called aldosterone.
[43:57] Speaker 3: Think of the aldosterone as the securecurity guard for your
[44:00] Speaker 3: body's minerals. It tells your kidneys to hang on to
[44:04] Speaker 3: sodium and get rid of potassium. When the drenals fail,
[44:07] Speaker 3: the security guard goes on strike, so your body starts
[44:10] Speaker 3: dumping sodium at a staggering rate. So Margaret's brain was
[44:14] Speaker 3: screaming for salt because her blood volume was literally shrinking,
[44:17] Speaker 3: and without enough sodium, her heart couldn't pump blood effectively
[44:21] Speaker 3: to her brain. So this wasn't a craving in the
[44:24] Speaker 3: way you crave a chocolate chip cookie. This was a
[44:26] Speaker 3: survival mechanism. She was licking those salt packets because her
[44:30] Speaker 3: body was trying to keep her from collapsing on the
[44:33] Speaker 3: courtroom floor. All right, So that's all the time that

[44:40] Speaker 3: and wellness. If you missed any part of the show,
