This hour of Health Talk America hits close to home for millions of listeners. Dr. Adam Brockman answers a caller on Eliquis with AFIB who wants to do more naturally without risking a dangerous interaction. A husband calls in for his wife who has been battling relentless hot flashes well into her sixties despite doing everything right. A frustrated listener asks the question the wellness industry doesn't want you to ask — is functional medicine just another pay-to-play guessing game, and how do you actually find practitioners who deserve your trust? And a caller with aortic stenosis wants to know if aged garlic can help. The answer is yes — and there's a specific formula for it. Plus a health tip so simple you'll wonder why no one told you sooner.

[1:42] Speaker 3: we do not talk around the hard stuff, and we
[1:46] Speaker 3: do not operate under the assumption that you need to

[1:53] Speaker 3: own body. You are smarter than that. You have the
[1:57] Speaker 3: ability to be your own best doctor. Most of the
[1:59] Speaker 3: time in this show treats you that way. We integrate
[2:05] Speaker 3: ideas across the full landscape of health and medicine. We're
[2:09] Speaker 3: talking about conventional science, integrative approaches, nutritional research, cutting edge

[2:22] Speaker 3: what we know is possible for your health. If it
[2:25] Speaker 3: affects your body, your brain, your longevity, or your quality
[2:30] Speaker 3: of life, it belongs on this program. And the phone
[2:34] Speaker 3: lines are available to you day and night. The toll
[2:38] Speaker 3: free hotline is eight hundred six zero six eight eight
[2:42] Speaker 3: two two. That's eight hundred six zero six eight A
[2:45] Speaker 3: two two. I want you to call me. I want
[2:48] Speaker 3: to hear what's on your mind. And also head over
[2:50] Speaker 3: to doctor Bob dot com. That's gone out the word
[2:53] Speaker 3: doctor docto r bob dot com for show notes, research
[2:58] Speaker 3: references in every resource that we cover today. It's all free,
[3:03] Speaker 3: it's all yours. Now before we get in this hour,
[3:07] Speaker 3: I have something to tell you. I cannot give you
[3:10] Speaker 3: all the details just yet, but something is coming to
[3:13] Speaker 3: this program, something significant, and I want you to be
[3:18] Speaker 3: the first to know when it arrives. Over the next
[3:21] Speaker 3: few weeks, we are going to make an announcement that
[3:25] Speaker 3: I believe is going to change the way you experience
[3:28] Speaker 3: the show. It's not a format change, it's not anything
[3:32] Speaker 3: being taken away, and it's definitely not doctor Bob retiring.
[3:37] Speaker 3: It is something that's being added, something that I think
[3:41] Speaker 3: this audience has been ready for, and that this program
[3:45] Speaker 3: has been building toward for a long time. I will
[3:48] Speaker 3: say this much if you ever wanted more access, more depth,
[3:53] Speaker 3: in a more direct line to the conversations that are
[3:56] Speaker 3: happening on the show.
[3:57] Speaker 2: I want you to stay tuned.
[3:59] Speaker 3: I want you to keep showing up, because when this
[4:03] Speaker 3: drops you are going to want to have been here
[4:06] Speaker 3: from the beginning. There's more details in the coming weeks
[4:10] Speaker 3: right here on air and also at Healthtalkamerica dot com
[4:15] Speaker 3: and doctor Bob dot com.
[4:17] Speaker 2: Did not miss it.
[4:19] Speaker 3: So here's my commitment for you this hour. I'm going
[4:21] Speaker 3: to answer as many of your health questions as I
[4:24] Speaker 3: possibly can. And this is what this show is built for.
[4:28] Speaker 3: Not talking at you. It's talking with you. The questions
[4:33] Speaker 3: that you're carrying around, the symptoms that you cannot explain,
[4:37] Speaker 3: and the diagnosis that don't just quite add up, the
[4:41] Speaker 3: medications that you got questions about. I want you to
[4:44] Speaker 3: bring all of it. The number again, eight hundred six
[4:47] Speaker 3: zero six eight eight two to two. The phone lines
[4:50] Speaker 3: are open, and if you'd rather write in, it's doctor
[4:54] Speaker 3: Bob dot com and has everything you need to get
[4:57] Speaker 3: your question in front of me or doctor Bob. So
[5:01] Speaker 3: let's go ahead and get into it, because we already
[5:03] Speaker 3: have a great question waiting. The first question comes to
[5:07] Speaker 3: us by email, and it's one that I want to
[5:09] Speaker 3: spend some time on because the situation Pat is navigating
[5:13] Speaker 3: is one that affects millions of Americans. So Pat writes
[5:17] Speaker 3: in from Farmington, New Mexico, and Pat writes, I'm on Eloquist.
[5:22] Speaker 3: That's a blood thinner, and I also have a FIP.
[5:26] Speaker 3: Because of the Eloquist, I have to be careful about
[5:30] Speaker 3: what I.
[5:31] Speaker 2: Take and what I eat.
[5:32] Speaker 3: I want to do more for my heart health naturally,
[5:37] Speaker 3: but I don't know what is safe and what could
[5:39] Speaker 3: interfere with my medication. Any help would be greatly appreciated, again,
[5:44] Speaker 3: as from Pat in Farmington, New Mexico. So Pat, thank
[5:48] Speaker 3: you for a question and for being thoughtful enough enough
[5:51] Speaker 3: to ask it before acting. That instinct alone puts you
[5:56] Speaker 3: ahead of a lot of people who are in the
[5:57] Speaker 3: exact situation. So let me give you a framework that
[6:01] Speaker 3: I think will serve you well. Because this is a
[6:04] Speaker 3: two part conversation. The first part is about Eloquist, specifically
[6:08] Speaker 3: what it interacts with in what it does not. The
[6:11] Speaker 3: second part is about a FIB and the very real,
[6:15] Speaker 3: evidence supported role that integrated medicine plays in managing it.
[6:20] Speaker 2: Now.
[6:20] Speaker 3: Eloquist, the generic name is picks A van, is a
[6:25] Speaker 3: direct oral anti coagulant or DOAC. It works by an
[6:31] Speaker 3: hippiting factor x A in the clotting cascade. One of
[6:35] Speaker 3: the significant advantages of Eloquist over older blood thinners like
[6:41] Speaker 3: wharfin is that it does not have the same sensitive
[6:46] Speaker 3: to vitamin K in your diet. That means the leafy
[6:50] Speaker 3: green conversation that wharf and patients they dreaded that we're
[6:54] Speaker 3: talking about the kale, spinach, broccoli. It's far less of
[6:58] Speaker 3: an issue for you need to avoid these foods. In fact,
[7:02] Speaker 3: I would encourage that you do eat them. They have
[7:06] Speaker 3: lots of anti inflammatory qualities and obviously we know inflammation
[7:10] Speaker 3: is one of the key drivers to that a fit
[7:14] Speaker 3: that arterial fibrillation. What you do need to be careful
[7:19] Speaker 3: about with Eloquist falls into two categories, and we're talking
[7:22] Speaker 3: about supplements that then the blood further in substances that
[7:26] Speaker 3: affect how your liver metabolizes the drug. On the supplement side,
[7:31] Speaker 3: high dose fish oil above two to three grams daily
[7:35] Speaker 3: can add an additive blood thinning effect at low doses
[7:40] Speaker 3: with physician monitoring. I want to add Omega three's are
[7:44] Speaker 3: actually beneficial for cardiac rhythm and inflammation, but the dosage
[7:49] Speaker 3: does matter. And now we're talking about if we're talking
[7:52] Speaker 3: about other supplements like nanocinase in sarah peptase. These are
[7:57] Speaker 3: popular natural clot busting end zone times, they should be
[8:02] Speaker 3: avoided while on eloquists. The same goes for high dose
[8:06] Speaker 3: vitamin E, gink o bloba, and concentrated garlic supplements at
[8:12] Speaker 3: those huge therapeutic doses. Now, these are not necessarily dangerous foods.
[8:20] Speaker 3: They are dangerous at huge concentrations when combined with anti coagulants.
[8:26] Speaker 3: So if you've got questions about some of these supplements,
[8:30] Speaker 3: feel free to reach out further. Now, grapefruit in Saint
[8:34] Speaker 3: John's Wart both affect the liver enzymes that process eloquists,
[8:40] Speaker 3: and grapefruit can increase those drug levels. Saint John's Wart
[8:45] Speaker 3: can lower them, so avoid both of those. Now here's
[8:50] Speaker 3: the part I want you to hold on to pat
[8:52] Speaker 3: because this is where integrated medicine has a genuinely important
[8:56] Speaker 3: role in the management of a FIP. Magnesium glycinate is
[9:01] Speaker 3: one of the most underutilized tools in cardiac care. Magnesium
[9:06] Speaker 3: plays a direct role in electrical conduction in the heart,
[9:09] Speaker 3: and deficiency is extremely common in people with a fit,
[9:14] Speaker 3: so research supports magnesium supplementation for reducing the frequency of
[9:19] Speaker 3: arterial fibrillation episodes. It does not significantly interact with eloquists,
[9:26] Speaker 3: So we're talking about dosage of two hundred to four
[9:29] Speaker 3: hundred milligrams of magnesium glycinate daily and taken into evening.
[9:34] Speaker 3: It's something worth discussing with your cardiologists. And coenzyme q
[9:39] Speaker 3: ten is another one. Coenzyme q ten supports that energy
[9:43] Speaker 3: production in cardiac muscle cells and has demonstrated anti arrhythmic
[9:48] Speaker 3: properties in clinical research. It does not interact with eloquists
[9:53] Speaker 3: in any clinically significant way and is generally well tolerated.
[9:58] Speaker 3: So we're talking about dosage of one hundred to two
[10:01] Speaker 3: hundred milligrams daily with a fat containing meal. That's pretty typical.
[10:06] Speaker 3: So beyond supplements, we're talking stress reduction. Vaguel nerve in
[10:11] Speaker 3: the autonomic nervous system are deeply involved in triggering a
[10:16] Speaker 3: rhythmic activities and episodes, so sleep quality, breath work, reducing
[10:21] Speaker 3: alcohol and caffeine are all important considerations as well. So
[10:24] Speaker 3: pat you're asking the right questions, and thanks for your
[10:28] Speaker 3: question today.
[10:29] Speaker 2: We appreciate it. And for everyone.
[10:31] Speaker 3: Listening who is navigating a medication or wondering what is
[10:34] Speaker 3: still safe to do naturally, you're not alone and we're here.
[10:37] Speaker 2: To help tackle those questions.
[10:39] Speaker 3: Number eight hundred six h six eight eighty two to two,
[10:42] Speaker 3: or by emailing. That's at doctor Bob dot com. This
[10:45] Speaker 3: is how Talk America presents the doctor Bob bardin show

[12:06] Speaker 4: X Raise talking about the auctions and talking about sweet time.
[12:14] Speaker 4: I asked him, when it's sank in, this might really
[12:18] Speaker 4: be the billion how's it pitching?
[12:21] Speaker 2: When you get that kind of news man?
[12:25] Speaker 5: What you do?
[12:26] Speaker 3: And you're back with Health Talk America Presents the Doctor
[12:30] Speaker 3: Bob Martin Show. I'm doctor Adam Brockman, and I'm glad
[12:34] Speaker 3: you're with us. This is the hour where the conversation
[12:37] Speaker 3: belongs to you. Your questions, your health challenges, your stories.
[12:43] Speaker 3: This is what drives this program forward every single week.
[12:48] Speaker 3: And if you've got a question that's burning a hole
[12:51] Speaker 3: in your pocket right now, do not wait. I want
[12:54] Speaker 3: you to pick up the phone, give us a call.
[12:57] Speaker 3: Eight hundred six zero six eight eight. Number again is
[13:01] Speaker 3: eight hundred six zero six eight A two two. I
[13:05] Speaker 3: want to hear from you and everything we cover this hour,
[13:09] Speaker 3: the research, the product references, the clinical guidance. All of
[13:14] Speaker 3: it lives at Healthtalkamerica dot com and Doctor Bob dot com.
[13:20] Speaker 3: It's updated after every show. I want you to go
[13:22] Speaker 3: there and browse through our library. All right, we have
[13:26] Speaker 3: some great voicemails this hour, and I have the next step.
[13:31] Speaker 3: We have two questions from one listener, and honestly, both
[13:35] Speaker 3: of them are worth a conversation. Let's get right into it.
[13:43] Speaker 5: He Yeah, Hi, my name is Rob, as in Robert.
[13:48] Speaker 5: I'm calling from Corville, Iowa, and I love the Doctor
[13:52] Speaker 5: Bob show. He had a couple of questions where maybe
[13:55] Speaker 5: if somebody could call me back. First thing, my wife
[13:58] Speaker 5: has been dealing with she's in her sixties now, and
[14:02] Speaker 5: she's been dealing with hot flashes that have just not
[14:06] Speaker 5: gone away over the last few years. And so I
[14:09] Speaker 5: wonder there's something that you might suggest for her hot flashes.
[14:13] Speaker 5: But she's into holistic medicine. She's doing all this stuff
[14:17] Speaker 5: with homeopathy. She's really working hard to figure it out,
[14:19] Speaker 5: but so far it's been a struggle.
[14:23] Speaker 6: So I don't know. There might be something there as
[14:27] Speaker 6: you could suggest. But also the toothpaste, Doctor Bob was
[14:31] Speaker 6: talking about a toothpaste that I should buy maybe at
[14:33] Speaker 6: a co op store or a health smart store or something.
[14:38] Speaker 6: What was that toothpaste that he's told me to get.
[14:41] Speaker 6: I just can't recall the name of it. So again
[14:44] Speaker 6: I'm Rob Iowa. Thank you so much, and God bless
[14:47] Speaker 6: you folks.
[14:50] Speaker 3: All right, thank you Rob, And again I was from Coralville, Iowa.
[14:54] Speaker 3: And Rob he's got two questions, one for his wife,
[14:59] Speaker 3: who has been battling persistent hot flashes in her sixties
[15:03] Speaker 3: and is already pursuing a holistic path. And the second
[15:07] Speaker 3: question is about the toothpaste that we've been recommending on
[15:11] Speaker 3: the show. So Rob, I've got answers for you, So
[15:14] Speaker 3: let's go ahead and get into it. So Rob, first,
[15:17] Speaker 3: your wife is clearly doing the right things. The fact
[15:20] Speaker 3: that she's already engaged with holistic medicine, working with homeopathy,
[15:25] Speaker 3: and actively researching her own health puts her in a
[15:29] Speaker 3: position where we're not starting from scratch. We're building on
[15:33] Speaker 3: a foundation, and I feel like that matters. So we're
[15:37] Speaker 3: talking about hot flashes that persist well into her sixties,
[15:42] Speaker 3: and that's not unusual, and they are not simply a nuisance.
[15:46] Speaker 3: There sometimes a signal the body is communicating this hormonal
[15:51] Speaker 3: shift that is still active. In the intensity and the duration,
[15:56] Speaker 3: it varies enormously from woman to woman. The conventional response
[16:02] Speaker 3: is hormone replacement therapy, and for some women that is
[16:05] Speaker 3: absolutely appropriate, But for a woman that's already invested in
[16:10] Speaker 3: that natural approach, there is a meaningful toolkit that's worth exploring,
[16:15] Speaker 3: and that The research behind several of these options is
[16:19] Speaker 3: legitimate and it's growing. So let's start with black cohosh
[16:24] Speaker 3: and as co ho sh. This is the most clinically
[16:29] Speaker 3: studied herbal intervention for menopausal hot flashes, and it has
[16:34] Speaker 3: earned its place in that conversation. Multiple randomized controlled trials
[16:39] Speaker 3: have demonstrated a reduction in both the frequency intensity of
[16:43] Speaker 3: hot flash episodes. It works through a pathway that interacts
[16:49] Speaker 3: with serotonin receptors rather than estrogen receptors, which is why
[16:53] Speaker 3: it is generally considered safe for women who have had
[16:57] Speaker 3: hormone sensitive cancers. Standard dosing is twenty milligrams of extract
[17:04] Speaker 3: twice a day and it typically takes about four to
[17:07] Speaker 3: eight weeks to reach that full effect, so that patience
[17:10] Speaker 3: is key. These These fido estrogens are another powerful category here.
[17:16] Speaker 3: We're talking about the soy isoflabnoids. They're found in whole
[17:23] Speaker 3: soy foods, are in the supplemental form, and they bind
[17:26] Speaker 3: weekly to estrogen receptors and can help modulate that hormonal
[17:31] Speaker 3: fluctuations that trigger those hot flashes. They we're talking red
[17:36] Speaker 3: clover as well. They work through a similar mechanism as
[17:39] Speaker 3: soy in have have shown particularly promising results in clinical
[17:44] Speaker 3: trials for women in their sixties with persistent symptoms. These
[17:49] Speaker 3: are are not the same as synthetic estrogen. These are
[17:54] Speaker 3: plant based compounds that gently nudge that system in the
[17:58] Speaker 3: right direction. So both options, as far as the red
[18:03] Speaker 3: clover and soy are worth exploring for your wife. Maca
[18:10] Speaker 3: root and that's spelled maca maca root is one I
[18:15] Speaker 3: find myself recommending more and more. It does not act
[18:20] Speaker 3: as an estrogen mimic. It works on this hypothalamic pituitary
[18:26] Speaker 3: axis and it's supporting the body's own hormonal communication system.
[18:33] Speaker 3: So research is showing it reduces the severity of menopausal
[18:37] Speaker 3: symptoms including hot flashes, mood disruption, and sleep interference. And
[18:43] Speaker 3: so maca at one and a half to three grams
[18:48] Speaker 3: daily is what the research is supporting. Let's move on
[18:52] Speaker 3: to sage and specifically sage leaf extract. It has a
[18:57] Speaker 3: long history of use for reducing night sweats and hot flashes,
[19:03] Speaker 3: and there is modern clinical data that supports this. It
[19:07] Speaker 3: appears to act as a mild antiperspirant at an ontonomic level,
[19:12] Speaker 3: and that's worth adding to this protocol. And also tell
[19:16] Speaker 3: your wife to look at magnesium glyconate in the evening
[19:19] Speaker 3: about three hundred to four hundred milligrams before bed. It
[19:23] Speaker 3: will not stop a hot flash, but it significantly improves
[19:27] Speaker 3: the sleep disruption that hot flashes cause, and a better
[19:30] Speaker 3: sleep improves everything dawnstream. Lastly, if she has not explored acupuncture,
[19:37] Speaker 3: it is one of the most researched non pharmological interventions
[19:41] Speaker 3: for menopausal hot flash, and a course of treatment here
[19:46] Speaker 3: looks like over six to eight weeks with a licensed
[19:49] Speaker 3: acupuncturist trained in women's health is worth that investment. So
[19:55] Speaker 3: Rob just got those great instincts, the combination of approaches,
[19:59] Speaker 3: discussing those with her practitioners, it gives her real evidence
[20:02] Speaker 3: based natural health natural protocols to work with. And Rob
[20:08] Speaker 3: mentioned toothpaste. It's a great question and I'm glad to
[20:12] Speaker 3: follow up on it. The toothpaste we recommend on the
[20:15] Speaker 3: program is Spry and that's spelled s p R Y,
[20:19] Speaker 3: and it's by Clear and that's spelled x L E R,
[20:24] Speaker 3: And there's a very specific reason we stand behind it.
[20:27] Speaker 3: Unlike conventional toothpaste that rely on harsh chemicals or fluoride,
[20:32] Speaker 3: Spry takes a natural, clinically supported approach to oral defense
[20:36] Speaker 3: and there's no alcohol, no compromise. The Spry dental defense
[20:40] Speaker 3: system includes fluoride free toothpaste, alcohol free mouthwash. It has
[20:47] Speaker 3: gum and mints and they're all xylotol based. It all
[20:51] Speaker 3: works together as a complete oral health protocol. And Rob,
[20:56] Speaker 3: you mentioned a co Oper Health store, and you're on
[20:58] Speaker 3: the right track. Spy is available at Sprouts, Natural Grossers,
[21:03] Speaker 3: CVS and targets. They're easy to find and once you
[21:07] Speaker 3: try it, I doubt that you'll go back. It's a
[21:10] Speaker 3: very great product. My family, doctor Bob's family, we all
[21:13] Speaker 3: use it. I recommend it often and for more information
[21:16] Speaker 3: on the full product line in the science behind it,
[21:18] Speaker 3: I recommend that you go to clear dot com. Again,
[21:21] Speaker 3: that's spelled x L e A R dot com. That's
[21:24] Speaker 3: your smile, your its whole body health.
[21:27] Speaker 2: It starts in your mouth. It's Spry.
[21:30] Speaker 3: Rob God bless you back, my friend, Thank you for
[21:32] Speaker 3: calling in from Coralville. Give your wife our best, and folks,
[21:36] Speaker 3: we've got got more, but we've got to take a
[21:38] Speaker 3: short break. Keep those questions coming eight hundred six or
[21:41] Speaker 3: six eight A two two or at doctor Bob dot com.
[21:45] Speaker 3: This is health Talk America and we'll be right back.
[22:02] Speaker 2: Are you waiting on a line? Next, Jake?
[22:05] Speaker 7: Are you waiting for the perfect night?
[22:08] Speaker 8: How are you waiting to.
[22:09] Speaker 9: The time is right up.
[22:14] Speaker 2: Don't you want to learn.
[22:15] Speaker 6: To deal with data?
[22:17] Speaker 3: Don't you want to.
[22:18] Speaker 10: Take the wildest stand it? Don't you beat another man?
[22:24] Speaker 2: Right back at it?
[22:25] Speaker 3: Here on health Talk America presents the Doctor Bob Martin Show,
[22:30] Speaker 3: I'm doctor Adam Brockman. I'm glad you're with us. The
[22:33] Speaker 3: questions keep coming in, so do we. If you are
[22:38] Speaker 3: ready to get yours on the air, the number to
[22:40] Speaker 3: call in the show is eight hundred six zero six
[22:44] Speaker 3: eight A two two. That's eight hundred six zero six
[22:46] Speaker 3: eight eight two two in. Every resource from today's show
[22:50] Speaker 3: is at doctor Bob dot com. That's spelled out the
[22:53] Speaker 3: word doctor D O C T O R Bob dot
[22:57] Speaker 3: com or also the website he talk America dot com. Now,
[23:02] Speaker 3: I have a color question that I want every listener
[23:07] Speaker 3: to hear.
[23:08] Speaker 2: Share.
[23:08] Speaker 3: It called in from Vernon, New York, and that's upstate
[23:11] Speaker 3: New York. And what she said took real courage to
[23:16] Speaker 3: put into words. This is a question a lot of
[23:18] Speaker 3: people are thinking but not asking.
[23:21] Speaker 2: So here it is.
[23:27] Speaker 8: Yes, Hi, this is sharing your Upstate New York from Burning,
[23:31] Speaker 8: New York calling in regard to how do you actually
[23:38] Speaker 8: try to navigate your way back to wellness? Because I
[23:45] Speaker 8: think that the supplement industry it's following the same path
[23:53] Speaker 8: of the money. Follow the money, as well as as
[24:02] Speaker 8: all of these helps professionals, wellness advisors, functional practitioners. I'm
[24:14] Speaker 8: not sure if this is all just a guessing game.
[24:18] Speaker 8: I'm actually looking for whether there is some specific steps
[24:28] Speaker 8: of how to go about finding help rather than just
[24:37] Speaker 8: blindly following a number for someone who has professed to
[24:44] Speaker 8: being a wellness guru who blindly sends you off into
[24:52] Speaker 8: a supplement company, which I'm sure they are getting a
[24:57] Speaker 8: kickback for every supplement that you buy. I just I'm
[25:03] Speaker 8: just lost and guessing that that everyone is just guessing.
[25:10] Speaker 8: I mean, I just don't understand where you start. Is
[25:16] Speaker 8: it genetic testing? I'm not sure if the science is
[25:24] Speaker 8: more reliable than going to a wellness doctor, spending five
[25:33] Speaker 8: hundred dollars and appointments and then having her just roll
[25:41] Speaker 8: the dice about which supplements are actually good for you.
[25:48] Speaker 8: I mean I do.
[25:52] Speaker 2: All right?
[25:52] Speaker 3: That is Sherry from Upstate New York. All right, Cherry,
[25:56] Speaker 3: you are not lost. You are are paid at ten
[26:00] Speaker 3: and those are two very different things. What you're describing
[26:05] Speaker 3: is not paranoia, it's pattern recognition that the wellness industry
[26:09] Speaker 3: does have a money problem, and your instinct to question
[26:13] Speaker 3: is not only valid, it's one of those important tools
[26:16] Speaker 3: that you have right now. So let let me give
[26:20] Speaker 3: you a real roadmap and not a philosophy or a
[26:24] Speaker 3: sales pitch that you may have had. We're going to
[26:26] Speaker 3: give you a practical steps that will help you cut
[26:29] Speaker 3: through some of that noise and fine care that actually
[26:32] Speaker 3: deserves your trust. So step one, let's start with the
[26:35] Speaker 3: foundational labs before you spend any money on a functional
[26:39] Speaker 3: medicine practitioner or a single supplement. So go to your
[26:42] Speaker 3: primary care physician and ask for a comprehensive baseline panel.
[26:46] Speaker 3: This is exactly what you want. A complete metabolic panel,
[26:51] Speaker 3: a full LIPPID panel, a complete blood count, a thyroid
[26:55] Speaker 3: panel that includes free T three in free T four
[27:00] Speaker 3: not justsh vitamin D B twelve, magnesium ferratin, fasting insulin
[27:08] Speaker 3: in a high sensitivity C reactive protein, and that is
[27:13] Speaker 3: for systemic inflammation. Most of these are covered by insurance.
[27:17] Speaker 3: They are not only tests. They are a factual picture
[27:22] Speaker 3: of where your body is right now, and they become
[27:26] Speaker 3: a baseline that any legitimate practitioner should be working from
[27:29] Speaker 3: when they make recommendations. If someone is suggesting supplements before
[27:34] Speaker 3: they have seen the data like this, this is your
[27:37] Speaker 3: first signal to pause. Next step, when you are ready
[27:41] Speaker 3: to find an integrative or functional medicine practitioner, know what
[27:44] Speaker 3: the credentials actually mean. The Institute for Functional Medicine IFM
[27:49] Speaker 3: certifies practitioners through a rigorous and a structured and an
[27:53] Speaker 3: evidence based training program. So these are board certified physicians
[27:57] Speaker 3: who have pursued fellowship training in integration of medicine through
[28:01] Speaker 3: a creditive academic medical institutes or schools that represent another
[28:06] Speaker 3: high credibility tier. These credentials are not only a guarantee
[28:11] Speaker 3: of excellence, but they are meaningful signals that someone has
[28:15] Speaker 3: invested in accountable, structured education, quite a bit of time
[28:20] Speaker 3: in resources. So a weekend wellness certification from a website
[28:25] Speaker 3: is not the same thing, and the market is full
[28:27] Speaker 3: of bold Learn the difference before you book that appointment.
[28:31] Speaker 3: Next step, before your first appointment with anyone, ask the
[28:34] Speaker 3: right questions. Ask them, what does your diagnosis process look
[28:39] Speaker 3: like before you make recommendations. If the answer is not
[28:42] Speaker 3: grounded in testing, a comprehensive intake history and clinical reasoning,
[28:47] Speaker 3: walk away. A practitioner who hands you a supplement protocol
[28:51] Speaker 3: on the first visit without ordering lab tests is guessing.
[28:54] Speaker 3: You already know what guessing looks like. You described it
[28:57] Speaker 3: perfectly next step on the testing. Your skepticism is well placed.
[29:03] Speaker 3: The consumer testing to it is a real science that
[29:08] Speaker 3: is still maturing significantly. There are specific genetic variants that
[29:13] Speaker 3: carry genuine clinical meaning. That MTh FR, for example, which
[29:19] Speaker 3: affects how your body processes fold and impacts methylation and
[29:24] Speaker 3: homocysteine levels and cardiovascular risk. There is a data point
[29:28] Speaker 3: worth knowing, But the majority of direct to consumer genetic
[29:32] Speaker 3: health reports produce far more anxiety than they do actual guidance.
[29:38] Speaker 3: The misinterpretations are often speculative, and the recommendations are frequently generic,
[29:44] Speaker 3: and so there's a wide margin of misapplication. So again
[29:48] Speaker 3: that foundational lab work is first, and onto supplements, simple
[29:53] Speaker 3: rules that are going to protect you. Only take what
[29:56] Speaker 3: your labs show that you actually need, not what someone
[29:59] Speaker 3: told you work for them, not what the person behind
[30:03] Speaker 3: the counter suggested what your own clinical data indicates is
[30:08] Speaker 3: deficient or suboptimal. And when you do buy supplements, look
[30:11] Speaker 3: for brands that submit their products to independent third party
[30:14] Speaker 3: testing NSF, International USP or Informed Sports Certification. Seals on
[30:21] Speaker 3: a label tell you what is in the bottle matches
[30:25] Speaker 3: what is on that label. Never take a supplement recommendation
[30:28] Speaker 3: for someone who profits from the sale.
[30:30] Speaker 2: So share.
[30:31] Speaker 3: The system you're frustrated with is real, but the path
[30:34] Speaker 3: through it is not hopeless. It's just needs to be specific.
[30:37] Speaker 3: You know the map. Now, your instincts are your greatest asset.
[30:41] Speaker 3: Trust them and use the framework to find practitioners information
[30:44] Speaker 3: that actually deserves your confidence. And thanks again for that question.
[30:48] Speaker 3: That was a question that needed to be asked. Will
[30:51] Speaker 3: be right back on Health Talk America presents the Doctor
[30:54] Speaker 3: Bob Martin Show.

[32:01] Speaker 3: It's doctor Adam Brockman. We talk about health every week.
[32:04] Speaker 3: When your joints hurt, everything hurts. You lose that freedom
[32:08] Speaker 3: to move and bend and stretch and do the things

[32:13] Speaker 3: about something truly special, and that's APEX Joint Minerals. This
[32:17] Speaker 3: isn't another gimmick or quick fix. It's a mineral complex
[32:20] Speaker 3: and it's inspired by a discovery high in the Sierra Mountains,
[32:24] Speaker 3: and it's minerals that your body actually recognizes and uses
[32:28] Speaker 3: to restore joint flexibility and comfort. And what makes Apex
[32:32] Speaker 3: Joint Minerals different is it's science seeing what happens when
[32:35] Speaker 3: people give their joints the nutrients they've been missing and
[32:38] Speaker 3: they get their life back. And that's what I want
[32:40] Speaker 3: for you. So if you're ready to move freely again,

[33:19] Speaker 9: number simondsible, the one never singles above.
[33:28] Speaker 1: I don't.
[33:34] Speaker 6: Want to stop.
[33:35] Speaker 3: The welcome back Help Talk America Presents the Doctor Bob
[33:39] Speaker 3: Martin Show continues. Doctor Adam Brockman here with you. We
[33:43] Speaker 3: have been on a roll this hour, and we're not
[33:45] Speaker 3: going to slow down. If you have a question that
[33:48] Speaker 3: needs an answer, now is the time. Pick up the
[33:50] Speaker 3: phone and let's talk. Eight hundred six zero six eighty
[33:54] Speaker 3: two to two one more time. That's eight hundred six
[33:57] Speaker 3: zero six eighty two to two. And when you want
[34:00] Speaker 3: to go ahead and dive deeper into anything on today's program,
[34:04] Speaker 3: every study and show reference is waiting for you at
[34:07] Speaker 3: doctor Bob dot com. That's found out the word doctor
[34:10] Speaker 3: doct r Bob dot com.
[34:13] Speaker 2: Let's go ahead and get in this next.
[34:15] Speaker 3: One because it's a great question from up in northern Michigan.
[34:21] Speaker 3: Griff is called in from Harbor Springs, Michigan. That's a
[34:25] Speaker 3: beautiful part of the country. And Griff, thank you for
[34:28] Speaker 3: reaching out. He has been diagnosed with a ortic stenosis
[34:32] Speaker 3: and he is asking whether age garlic could help.
[34:36] Speaker 2: Here is his question.
[34:41] Speaker 7: Hello, this is Griff, Harbor Springs, Michigan. I was diagnosed
[34:50] Speaker 7: with as or reich stenosis. I was wondering if that
[35:00] Speaker 7: a garlic would help anything out. Thank you.
[35:08] Speaker 3: All right, Griff, great question, and I appreciate you calling in.
[35:13] Speaker 3: Before I answer, I want to make sure everyone listening
[35:17] Speaker 3: has a clear picture of what aortic stenosis actually is
[35:22] Speaker 3: because context here matters. Aortic Stenosis is a narrowing of
[35:28] Speaker 3: the aortic valve opening that is in the heart. When
[35:31] Speaker 3: the valve narrows, the heart has to work significantly harder
[35:36] Speaker 3: to push blood through the opening and out into the body,
[35:39] Speaker 3: and over time, this increased workload can lead to systemic
[35:45] Speaker 3: issues like chest tightness and symptoms like fatigue, shortness of breath,
[35:49] Speaker 3: and dizziness, and in advanced cases, aortic stenosis is a
[35:53] Speaker 3: serious medical condition that may ultimately require valve repair or replacement.
[35:59] Speaker 3: And I say this not to alarm you, Griff, but
[36:02] Speaker 3: because it is important for you and every listener to understand.
[36:07] Speaker 3: No supplement replaces the conversation that you need to have
[36:12] Speaker 3: almost well, pretty regularly with your cardiologist about the progression
[36:17] Speaker 3: of this condition and the monitoring matters. That said, your
[36:20] Speaker 3: instinct about age garlic is well placed, and here's why.
[36:24] Speaker 3: Age garlic extract is one of the most impressive studied
[36:30] Speaker 3: as an impressive body of work behind that cardiovascular research,
[36:35] Speaker 3: and we're talking about peer reviewed published clinical data that
[36:39] Speaker 3: shows that age garlic extract reduces arterial stiffness, it lowers
[36:44] Speaker 3: the inflammatory markers, it supports healthy blood pressure, and critically
[36:49] Speaker 3: for someone in your situation that has demonstrated a measurable
[36:53] Speaker 3: reduction in that coronary artery area of the synosis, that
[36:57] Speaker 3: calcification that happens there, and calcilation is a key driver
[37:02] Speaker 3: of valvular disease progression. In the fact that age garlic
[37:07] Speaker 3: extract has been shown to slow that progress in the
[37:11] Speaker 3: process in clinical trials, that's not a small thing to disregard.
[37:17] Speaker 3: So the brand that I recommend and have recommended on
[37:20] Speaker 3: this program is Coyolic Age Garlic Extract by Wacanaga. And
[37:25] Speaker 3: for Griff's specific situation, the formula I would point him
[37:29] Speaker 3: toward is Coyolic Formula one O six one zero six
[37:34] Speaker 3: the cardiovascular formula. And here's what makes it the right fit.
[37:38] Speaker 3: Formula one zero six combines age garlic extract with Hawthorn
[37:43] Speaker 3: berry cayenne, vitamin E, and vitamin B six. Hawthorn has
[37:49] Speaker 3: decades of clinical research behind it, specifically for supporting cardiac
[37:53] Speaker 3: output in overall heart muscle efficiency, which is exactly what
[38:00] Speaker 3: a heart under the increased workload of aorticxenosis needs. In cayenne,
[38:06] Speaker 3: it supports peripheral circulation and healthy blood flow. This is
[38:12] Speaker 3: not a random combination in this formula. It is a
[38:15] Speaker 3: synergistic cardiovascular formula. It's designed for people who need meaningful
[38:20] Speaker 3: cardiac support. Iyolic age garlic extract is also odorless, it's
[38:25] Speaker 3: general on the stomach, and it's free from harsh compounds
[38:29] Speaker 3: in raw garlic that cause digestive irritation. Has been cold
[38:34] Speaker 3: age for up to twenty months, which converts that harsh
[38:39] Speaker 3: odor in allison in raw garlic into stable bioavailable basically
[38:46] Speaker 3: compounds that the research shows are doing the real clinical work.
[38:51] Speaker 3: So Griff one practical note, if you are on any
[38:55] Speaker 3: blood thinning medications, let your cardioologists know that you are
[38:59] Speaker 3: adding age extract as it does have mild anti platelet properties.
[39:04] Speaker 3: This is a simple conversation to have in most cardiologists
[39:07] Speaker 3: who are current on the research will not have any
[39:10] Speaker 3: concerns at standard doses. If you can find coolic formula
[39:14] Speaker 3: one zero six at health food stores, natural grossers, and
[39:18] Speaker 3: online at kyolic dot com that's spelled Kyolic dot com,
[39:25] Speaker 3: look specifically for formula one zero six. That's the cardiovascular formula.
[39:30] Speaker 3: Is one that is built for what you're dealing with,
[39:32] Speaker 3: and I stand behind it completely. So Griff, thanks again
[39:36] Speaker 3: for calling from Harbor Springs, Michigan. Take good care of yourself,
[39:39] Speaker 3: stay close with your care team, and know that you
[39:42] Speaker 3: have been asking exactly the right questions. Okay, time we
[39:45] Speaker 3: take a short break. The line is open. Eight hundred
[39:49] Speaker 3: and six zero six eight A two to two. You're

[41:15] Speaker 3: the Doctor Bob Martin Show.
[41:16] Speaker 2: I'm doctor Adam Brockman.
[41:18] Speaker 3: Before we close out this hour, I want to take
[41:21] Speaker 3: a moment because this program is only as good as
[41:24] Speaker 3: the people who show up for it. Pat from Farmington,
[41:27] Speaker 3: Rob from Coralville, Sherry from Vernon, Griff from Harbor Springs.
[41:32] Speaker 2: Thank you.
[41:33] Speaker 3: Each of you picked up the phone or sat down
[41:35] Speaker 3: to write, which takes more courage than people give it
[41:38] Speaker 3: credit for. You asked real questions about real health challenges,
[41:42] Speaker 3: and in doing so, you gave a voice to thousands
[41:45] Speaker 3: of listeners who are navigating the same territory and needed
[41:49] Speaker 3: to hear what you asked. And this is how this
[41:52] Speaker 3: community on the show works. One question at a time,
[41:55] Speaker 3: one honest answer at a time, one listener who feels
[41:58] Speaker 3: a little less alone at a time. That is the
[42:01] Speaker 3: whole point. And folks, if your question did not make
[42:04] Speaker 3: it on air today, keep it coming. We're not going anywhere.
[42:08] Speaker 3: The number is eight hundred six zero six eight A
[42:11] Speaker 3: two two. That's eight hundred six zero six eight, a
[42:14] Speaker 3: two to two call, leave a voice, smail, or reach
[42:17] Speaker 3: out through our websites which are doctor Bob dot com.
[42:21] Speaker 3: Smell out the word doctor docto or Bob dot com
[42:24] Speaker 3: or health talk America dot com. Every question gets read,
[42:29] Speaker 3: every one of the matters. I'm gonna leave you with
[42:32] Speaker 3: a quick health tip before the coffee, before the phone,
[42:36] Speaker 3: before anything else passes your lips. In the morning, I
[42:39] Speaker 3: want you to drink sixteen ounces of water room temperature
[42:42] Speaker 3: or slightly warm. That's the tip. Sounds almost too simple
[42:46] Speaker 3: to matter, but it's not. Here is what's happening in
[42:49] Speaker 3: your body while you sleep. Your cortisol begins rising in
[42:52] Speaker 3: the early morning hours to prepare you for waking. This
[42:56] Speaker 3: is called the cord isol awakening response, and it is
[42:59] Speaker 3: a critical part of your daily hormonal rhythm. Your digestive
[43:03] Speaker 3: system is preparing to activate. Your lymphatic system has been
[43:06] Speaker 3: doing repair work all night, and your body is mildly
[43:10] Speaker 3: dehydrated from six to eight hours without fluid intake. When
[43:14] Speaker 3: you hydrate, first thing, you are doing several things simultaneously.
[43:19] Speaker 3: You're supporting kidney function and flushing metabolic waste that has
[43:23] Speaker 3: been accumulating overnight. You are activating a gastrocoloic reflex, which
[43:30] Speaker 3: is what your digestive track is doing to getting gear
[43:33] Speaker 3: in the morning. You are diluting the morning cortisol spike
[43:37] Speaker 3: before you amplify it with caffeine, which, when added on
[43:41] Speaker 3: top of an already elevated cortisol response, is one of
[43:44] Speaker 3: the reasons so many people feel wired and anxious before
[43:48] Speaker 3: nine am. And you are giving your brain, which is
[43:51] Speaker 3: approximately seventy five percent water, what it needs to think
[43:56] Speaker 3: clearly before you start demanding things from it. Sixty ounces
[44:00] Speaker 3: room temperature before anything else. Do it for two weeks
[44:03] Speaker 3: and tell me your mornings do not feel different. That
[44:06] Speaker 3: is a challenge. I am confident making to you all right.
[44:09] Speaker 3: That is a wrap for this hour of Health Talk
[44:11] Speaker 3: America presents the Doctor Bob Martin Show. I'm doctor Adam Brockman.
[44:15] Speaker 3: Thank you for making this hour part of your day.
[44:18] Speaker 3: I do not take that lightly. Everything from today, every study,
[44:22] Speaker 3: every product reference, every tip is documented in there for
[44:26] Speaker 3: you at Healthtalkamerica dot com. It's always current, always yours
[44:31] Speaker 3: in a line never closes. Our toll free line at
[44:33] Speaker 3: eight hundred and six zero six eight A two to two.

[44:38] Speaker 3: get to it. Take care of yourself. Show up for
