## Transcript

[0:01] Speaker 1: Understand the thinking atheist. It's not a person, it's a symbol,
[0:09] Speaker 1: an idea.
[0:10] Speaker 2: The population of atheists in this country is going through the.
[0:13] Speaker 1: Rule, rejecting faith, pursuing knowledge, challenging the sacred. If I
[0:19] Speaker 1: tell the truth, it's because I tell the truth, not
[0:22] Speaker 1: because I put my hand on a book and made
[0:24] Speaker 1: a wish and working together for a more rational world.
[0:29] Speaker 2: Take the risk of thinking. Feel so much more happiness.
[0:32] Speaker 2: Truth Fusian wisdom will come to you that way.
[0:35] Speaker 1: Assume nothing, question everything, and start thinking. This is the
[0:43] Speaker 1: Thinking Atheist podcast hosted by Seth Andrews.
[0:56] Speaker 2: This is the audio of a video live stream that
[1:00] Speaker 2: we recorded just a few days ago. Something extra to
[1:03] Speaker 2: listen to if you would like some bonus podcast content
[1:07] Speaker 2: this week. This is a safe place where we can
[1:17] Speaker 2: use words like stupid. I'm trying to call people names
[1:21] Speaker 2: to their face. You've heard me sort of, I don't know.
[1:24] Speaker 2: Discourage that. Let us deescalate. But on the larger stage,
[1:30] Speaker 2: on the macro stage, when we see things going down,
[1:33] Speaker 2: we can say this is stupid or that person is
[1:37] Speaker 2: just acting stupidly. I think it's okay. I think we've
[1:41] Speaker 2: come to the point we've crossed the threshold case in point.
[1:47] Speaker 2: I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and the great State of
[1:51] Speaker 2: Oklahoma is essentially a big circus tent with magis as ringleaders.
[1:59] Speaker 2: Governor Kevin Stitt has been in the headlines. You know,
[2:02] Speaker 2: he's the guy who dedicated the whole state to his
[2:05] Speaker 2: Jesus when he won the midterms. Lord, we just we
[2:09] Speaker 2: dedicate every square inch of Oklahoma to you, dear Lord.
[2:15] Speaker 2: He did that on taxpayer money, you know, on taxpayer
[2:18] Speaker 2: funded grounds at the Capitol. And then we've got public
[2:23] Speaker 2: Superintendent of Education, wait, Superintendent of Public Instruction, Ryan Walters.
[2:29] Speaker 2: This guy's just been pining for attention. All he wants
[2:31] Speaker 2: his attention. He's just just makes me crazy. And he
[2:36] Speaker 2: has just filed a lawsuit against the Freedom From Religion Foundation.
[2:42] Speaker 2: Now I just saw this. I'm going to read it
[2:44] Speaker 2: pretty much cold. But this was posted by KOCO News
[2:49] Speaker 2: Channel five in Oklahoma City. The headline Ryan Walter's OSDE
[2:55] Speaker 2: the Oklahoma State Department of Education sue nonprofit that's and
[3:00] Speaker 2: cease and desist letter over prayer in schools. Check this out.
[3:07] Speaker 2: State Suberintendent Ryan Walters in the Oklahoma State Department of
[3:10] Speaker 2: Education and found a lawsuit against a nonprofit organization after
[3:14] Speaker 2: receiving a ceasend desist letter over prayer in schools. The
[3:18] Speaker 2: Freedom From Religion Foundation, which is based in Wisconsin, issued
[3:23] Speaker 2: a ceasend desist letter to a school in Oklahoma for
[3:27] Speaker 2: allowing a school to pray over the intercom. According to
[3:31] Speaker 2: a news release, the letter threatened legal action if the
[3:35] Speaker 2: school did not comply. Walter's office said. The lawsuit said
[3:40] Speaker 2: the ceasen desist letter came after how do I say this,
[3:43] Speaker 2: acchi ll e is at Achille Public Schools exercised their
[3:49] Speaker 2: statutorily required duties to allow students to participate in voluntary prayer.
[3:56] Speaker 2: Are you fitting me? You know what they were doing.
[4:00] Speaker 2: They had homeroom teachers who were leading prayer, classroom prayer,
[4:06] Speaker 2: and they were reading Christian Bible verses and leading Christian
[4:11] Speaker 2: prayers over the school intercom. Well, part of that sounds
[4:18] Speaker 2: like voluntary prayer to you. Well, you know, people would
[4:22] Speaker 2: hear rat and they would start the classes with it.
[4:26] Speaker 2: But it's not like the students were forced to say
[4:29] Speaker 2: things that were Christian. It is such a piece of job,
[4:33] Speaker 2: you know, Ryan Walters, I just you know what I'm saying.
[4:38] Speaker 2: So apparently an FFRF has not yet officially received a
[4:43] Speaker 2: notice of being sued, but the media certainly has gotten
[4:46] Speaker 2: a hold of it. And this tells you really how
[4:48] Speaker 2: Ryan Walters and the Oklahoma State Department of Education function. Yeah,
[4:53] Speaker 2: you do to the media first, right, you go public first,
[4:56] Speaker 2: you raise a big stink, You get the headlines, you
[4:58] Speaker 2: get the publicity, and then FFRF gets the paperwork. But
[5:03] Speaker 2: tell me what's wrong with the cease and desist. Hey,
[5:07] Speaker 2: wait a minute. This is a taxpayer funded property and
[5:10] Speaker 2: you're leading specifically Christian prayers on the taxpayer dime to
[5:14] Speaker 2: a class base that might or might not be Christian.
[5:18] Speaker 2: This is not a church. It is a house of education. No, no,
[5:23] Speaker 2: Ryan Walter says, you have infringed upon our religious liberties.
[5:29] Speaker 2: Here's a nice lawsuit. I'm trying to think of. Who
[5:34] Speaker 2: will hear this if it goes to court. It's an
[5:38] Speaker 2: Oklahoma court, I don't know. You know, the Oklahoma State
[5:40] Speaker 2: Supreme Court knocked down the religious charter school at least
[5:45] Speaker 2: at the first step. We know it's going to take
[5:47] Speaker 2: it to the United States Supreme Court at the federal level,
[5:50] Speaker 2: but we know the state Supreme Court has come through
[5:56] Speaker 2: for us in the past. I'm hoping that that may,
[6:00] Speaker 2: maybe you know, some sanity will prevail, but I'm not
[6:03] Speaker 2: optimistic because sanity does not seem to be the order
[6:07] Speaker 2: of the day. Stupidity seems to be the order of
[6:11] Speaker 2: the day. And I want you to talk about, well,
[6:14] Speaker 2: the stupid stuff that's been on your mind. I don't
[6:16] Speaker 2: know whatever is on your mind. The phone lines are
[6:19] Speaker 2: wide open. There is a phone number and then calling
[6:22] Speaker 2: link in the description box of tonight's live stream. And
[6:25] Speaker 2: I would love to chat with you after I do
[6:28] Speaker 2: my little short thing here. I'm drinking some This is
[6:31] Speaker 2: called passion tea. Now I don't feel any real passion
[6:35] Speaker 2: at all, but it is sort of sweet and fruity.
[6:39] Speaker 2: So I've been and I like this mug because it
[6:41] Speaker 2: says have a nice day. But whenever you get down
[6:43] Speaker 2: to the bottom, I don't know if you can see it.
[6:45] Speaker 2: I can't really tip it that far yet, but it's
[6:47] Speaker 2: got a middle finger. So once you drink it and
[6:49] Speaker 2: it's like, oh, have a nice day, and then you literally,
[6:51] Speaker 2: you know, knock it back. You can see somebody flipping
[6:53] Speaker 2: you off, insawsome. What else was on my mind? Well,
[6:58] Speaker 2: I wait for you to call in oh Oh. I
[7:01] Speaker 2: was going to mention that I am including including a
[7:04] Speaker 2: segment about absurdity and cruelty in the speech that I'm giving.
[7:09] Speaker 2: I'm still honing it. I did it in Florida for
[7:11] Speaker 2: a free flow. But I'm going to be the featured
[7:13] Speaker 2: speaker at the Friday night banquet at American Atheists. That's
[7:17] Speaker 2: going to be Easter weekend. They have it an Easter
[7:19] Speaker 2: weekend every year, the National Convention for American Atheist. It's
[7:23] Speaker 2: going to be in Minneapolis this time around, to be
[7:26] Speaker 2: I'll go time out there. You know, my dad, he
[7:29] Speaker 2: was born in Minnesota. We go up there on the
[7:32] Speaker 2: summertime vacations and we'd fish for walleye and northern pike
[7:36] Speaker 2: out there. You know, they don't have walleye down in Oklahoma.
[7:40] Speaker 2: We just have the bass and the crappie. But up
[7:42] Speaker 2: there they got the walleye. And I remember all of
[7:46] Speaker 2: my relatives kind of had that far go ask very
[7:49] Speaker 2: charming accent about him, much more charming than Oklahoma, because
[7:53] Speaker 2: we're like, hey, y'all, sure is good to be up
[7:55] Speaker 2: here in Minnesota. Yeah, that's just going to have the
[7:59] Speaker 2: Oklahoma Act scents. But anyway, I'm going to Minneapolis. Tickets
[8:05] Speaker 2: are still available for that. You know what, let me
[8:09] Speaker 2: just roll through real fast. I don't want to drive
[8:11] Speaker 2: you crazy. But the We Can Reason Western Canadian Reason
[8:16] Speaker 2: Conference is going to be the first weekend in May
[8:20] Speaker 2: in Calgary, Alberta. Now, Natalie and I don't get to
[8:24] Speaker 2: travel together very often. I'm useless to her at most
[8:27] Speaker 2: of these events because I'm working. Working is not the word,
[8:31] Speaker 2: because I love being there. But you know, I'm engaging
[8:34] Speaker 2: with people, and I'm running the table, and I'm prepping
[8:36] Speaker 2: for the speech, and we're doing a VIP dinner and
[8:39] Speaker 2: you know, I mean, it's not like she and I
[8:40] Speaker 2: can have a lot of meaningful time. But occasionally I
[8:44] Speaker 2: get to tack a couple of days onto a trip
[8:47] Speaker 2: where she and I can enjoy some place that is pretty.
[8:52] Speaker 2: And I was made aware of a place forgive me,
[8:55] Speaker 2: I'd never heard of it before called bamp. That's fun
[8:59] Speaker 2: to say, Hey, National Park an hour and a half
[9:03] Speaker 2: out of Calgary. It's gorgeous. It reminds me a little
[9:09] Speaker 2: bit of Alaska in the summertime, as far as the
[9:12] Speaker 2: mountains and the waters. Just something about the way he
[9:15] Speaker 2: looks in the photographs. So I was talking to the
[9:17] Speaker 2: weekend Reason folks. I was like, oh my god, it's gorgeous.
[9:21] Speaker 2: And they're they're doing like a tour and some a
[9:24] Speaker 2: trip day trip or something. And so Natalie and I
[9:29] Speaker 2: are going to take a couple of extra days and
[9:31] Speaker 2: we're gonna fly up a little early and we're just
[9:33] Speaker 2: going to go and find a little nook somewhere in
[9:36] Speaker 2: the mountain, you know, and look at water that isn't brown,
[9:39] Speaker 2: and spend some time just her and me making memories.
[9:42] Speaker 2: And so we've been having this conversation like, why are
[9:47] Speaker 2: they going to treat us when we hit customs? After all,
[9:52] Speaker 2: we're Americans, right Our president is declaring war on candidate.
[10:05] Speaker 2: It's just what I just Oh, how are we they
[10:09] Speaker 2: going to do? They understand the tens of millions of
[10:12] Speaker 2: us are cannot believe this is happening? Do they know
[10:17] Speaker 2: there is a resistance. There's a protest going on this Saturday.
[10:20] Speaker 2: In fact, it's all over the country. Let me look
[10:25] Speaker 2: this up actually, so maybe if you're interested, you can
[10:28] Speaker 2: go and participate in it yourself. But it is a hub.
[10:34] Speaker 2: It's called Hands Off twenty twenty five. Hands Off twenty
[10:40] Speaker 2: twenty five dot com the National Day of Action. The
[10:45] Speaker 2: website says Donald Trump and Elon Musk think this country
[10:49] Speaker 2: belongs to them. They're taking everything they can get their
[10:52] Speaker 2: hands on and daring the world to stop them. On Saturday,
[10:56] Speaker 2: April fifth, we are taking the street, taking two the streets,
[11:00] Speaker 2: and why to fight back with a clear message hands off.
[11:03] Speaker 2: And so I signed up. There's a protest in Tulsa
[11:06] Speaker 2: going on at the seventy first and Memorial area, and
[11:10] Speaker 2: I guess I'm going to go make a sign. I'm
[11:12] Speaker 2: sure what the sign's going to say. It needs to
[11:14] Speaker 2: be kind of biting, sarcastic, but also true at the
[11:18] Speaker 2: same time. That's kind of my wheelhouse, right, you want
[11:21] Speaker 2: it to be true. It's like when I protested at
[11:23] Speaker 2: the ark In Counter in Kentucky all those years ago.
[11:27] Speaker 2: What did my signs say? Like the Flintstones was not
[11:31] Speaker 2: a documentary. Maybe it wasn't that one. I had another one. Oh,
[11:35] Speaker 2: I had camel, a camel and a penguin on my sign,
[11:41] Speaker 2: and I forgot exactly what the caption was. But it's like,
[11:44] Speaker 2: you know, Noah says these two were on the same boat.
[11:47] Speaker 2: It was more cleverly worded than that. But I'm gonna
[11:50] Speaker 2: find a phrase or a photo and I'm going to
[11:52] Speaker 2: make a sign and we're going to go and it's
[11:54] Speaker 2: hands off twenty twenty five dot com And apparently there
[11:57] Speaker 2: were these rallies and protests and demonstrations are going to
[12:02] Speaker 2: be happening in cities all over the United States. So
[12:04] Speaker 2: you might want to check that out and register and
[12:06] Speaker 2: share it on your social media pages. Anyway, going into Canada,
[12:10] Speaker 2: I'm nervous about how we're gonna be, like, are they
[12:13] Speaker 2: going to kick us in the book? Kick me in
[12:15] Speaker 2: the balls when I get there? Oh? Hi, where are
[12:17] Speaker 2: you from America? You know? Oh United States. They're gonna
[12:23] Speaker 2: tear if my ass. They're gonna be like, that's going
[12:26] Speaker 2: to cost you. You want to get into this country,
[12:28] Speaker 2: This is going to cost you. Natalie found some shirts
[12:34] Speaker 2: this close we pull it up here. She sent me
[12:37] Speaker 2: a text. It's a shirt for sale and it's a
[12:41] Speaker 2: red shirt with a Canadian leaf on it and it says,
[12:43] Speaker 2: dear Canada, we hate him too. And she's like, you know,
[12:48] Speaker 2: we could always wear these shirts and just communicate them
[12:52] Speaker 2: that you know, we're not sleeping with the enemy, that
[12:54] Speaker 2: we are actually we get it. We're on their side.
[12:56] Speaker 2: We're just as grieved as everybody else. So I don't know.
[12:59] Speaker 2: I'm trying to figure And then what happens if shit
[13:01] Speaker 2: goes down while we are in Canada and she's gonna
[13:05] Speaker 2: fly back a little early and I'm going to stay
[13:06] Speaker 2: for the conference. But you know what happens if some
[13:09] Speaker 2: other thing happens and like the borders closed down, or
[13:12] Speaker 2: Canada says, oh, yes, screw it, we're canceling all the
[13:15] Speaker 2: flights southbound. Now what, I'm on one side of the
[13:20] Speaker 2: wall and Natalie's on the other side of the wall.
[13:22] Speaker 2: You know, she's throwing care package. Actually, I would be
[13:25] Speaker 2: throwing care packages to her over the wall, trying to
[13:28] Speaker 2: get her through. I don't know what's going to happen.
[13:31] Speaker 2: It's just insane. Every day, it's just so freaking stupid.
[13:39] Speaker 2: Jana Selby, my friend over a divorcing religion, said that
[13:43] Speaker 2: she thinks that most Canadians get it. They understand that
[13:47] Speaker 2: a lot of us are like what the hell I mean,
[13:49] Speaker 2: They're frustrated and scared, but they know that we're you know,
[13:53] Speaker 2: there is a resistance movement, But I don't know what
[13:57] Speaker 2: to expect. But I'm excited about the event itself. I
[14:01] Speaker 2: guess if I could go full circle. Also, there's an
[14:05] Speaker 2: interesting one coming up. Now I'm not attending this, but
[14:07] Speaker 2: if you're in the Seattle area, the Shameless Sexuality Conference
[14:14] Speaker 2: and Glenda Jordan and some others going to be there.
[14:16] Speaker 2: This is really targeted to people who've gone through sexual
[14:19] Speaker 2: shame and high control cultures. They've escaped purity culture and
[14:24] Speaker 2: they are either on a journey stilled or they've got
[14:26] Speaker 2: a story to share, looking for community. And that's going
[14:29] Speaker 2: to be an amazing weekend in May in Seattle. I'm
[14:34] Speaker 2: going then to Wichita, Nashville, Tennessee, Sarnia, Ontario, and then
[14:38] Speaker 2: the FFRF National Convention is happening in Myrtle Beach in October.
[14:44] Speaker 2: I'll be curious to see what the progress of the
[14:46] Speaker 2: lawsuit will be by the time that convention takes place.
[14:50] Speaker 2: It's like, hey, welcome everybody, and here's the update on
[14:54] Speaker 2: the litigation with Ryan Walters. Hopefully the High Court will
[14:57] Speaker 2: have swatted all this bullshit down by then. I swear,
[15:05] Speaker 2: farting Duck says, I'm disappointed in how someone of your
[15:08] Speaker 2: intelligence things you'd get a bad reception in Canada well,
[15:13] Speaker 2: I'm not worried about the free thought culture. They're my family.
[15:18] Speaker 2: I'm worried about anybody else who sniffs a little America
[15:22] Speaker 2: on me and then just saying, bamn. You know what
[15:32] Speaker 2: I'm saying. I'm just saying I don't think that's no
[15:35] Speaker 2: unreasonable trepidation. I don't think. So Okay, what are we
[15:40] Speaker 2: talking about?
[15:40] Speaker 3: Oh?
[15:41] Speaker 2: Stupidity? And the phone lines are wide open. Let me
[15:44] Speaker 2: read you something. This came out in February of twenty nineteen.
[15:50] Speaker 2: Someone asked why do some British people not like Donald Trump?
[15:56] Speaker 2: Ny T. White, an articulate and witty writer from England,
[16:00] Speaker 2: wrote this magnificent response. Now quick caveat. This is on
[16:05] Speaker 2: the internet, right, So I don't know Nate White. I
[16:08] Speaker 2: don't know. I can't source it to Nate White. You
[16:11] Speaker 2: want to double check me, okay, But whoever wrote it,
[16:13] Speaker 2: and whenever it was originally published, wherever it came from,
[16:17] Speaker 2: whatever the circumstances are, the text of it is why
[16:20] Speaker 2: I'm reading it here, okay. And if it wasn't Nate White,
[16:23] Speaker 2: then well played, well done. A few things spring to
[16:27] Speaker 2: mind as to why some British people do not like
[16:30] Speaker 2: Donald Trump. Trump lacks certain qualities which the British traditionally esteem.
[16:39] Speaker 2: For instance, he has no class, no charm, no coolness,
[16:43] Speaker 2: no credibility, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom,
[16:47] Speaker 2: no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self awareness, no humility, no honor,
[16:54] Speaker 2: and no grace, all qualities, funnily enough, with which his predecessor,
[17:00] Speaker 2: Obama was generally blessed. So for us, the stark contrast
[17:05] Speaker 2: does rather throw Trump's limitation into embarrassingly sharp relief. Plus,
[17:11] Speaker 2: we like a laugh, and while Trump may be laughable,
[17:15] Speaker 2: he has never once said anything wry, witty, or even
[17:19] Speaker 2: faintly amusing. Not once ever. I don't say that rhetorically,
[17:24] Speaker 2: I mean it quite literally, not once, not ever, And
[17:28] Speaker 2: that fact is particularly disturbing to the British sensibility. For us,
[17:34] Speaker 2: to lack humor is almost inhuman, But with Trump, it's
[17:39] Speaker 2: a fact. He doesn't even seem to understand what a
[17:42] Speaker 2: joke is. His idea of a joke is a crass comment,
[17:47] Speaker 2: an illiterate insult, a casual act of cruelty. Trump is
[17:52] Speaker 2: a troll, and like all trolls, he is never funny,
[17:56] Speaker 2: and he never laughs. He only crows, or ge and scarily.
[18:01] Speaker 2: He doesn't just talk in crude, witless insults, he actually
[18:06] Speaker 2: thinks in them. His mind is a simple bot like
[18:10] Speaker 2: algorithm of petty prejudices and knee jerk nastiness. There is
[18:16] Speaker 2: never any underlayer of irony, complexity, nuance, or depth. It's
[18:21] Speaker 2: all surface. Some Americans might see this as refreshingly upfronts,
[18:27] Speaker 2: well we don't. We see it as having no inner world,
[18:32] Speaker 2: no soul, and in Britain we traditionally side with David,
[18:36] Speaker 2: not Goliath. All our heroes are plucky underdogs. Robin Hood,
[18:42] Speaker 2: Dick Whittington, Oliver Twist. Trump is neither plucky nor an underdog.
[18:49] Speaker 2: He's the exact opposite of that. He's not even a
[18:52] Speaker 2: spoiled rich boy or a greedy fat cat. He's more
[18:55] Speaker 2: a fat white slug, a jaba the hut of privilege.
[19:01] Speaker 2: And worse, he is that most unforgivable of all things
[19:06] Speaker 2: to the British, a bully, that is, except when he's
[19:10] Speaker 2: among bullies, then he suddenly transforms into a sniveling sidekick instead.
[19:18] Speaker 2: There are unspoken rules to this stuff, the Queensberry rules
[19:22] Speaker 2: of basic decency, and he breaks them all. He punches downwards,
[19:27] Speaker 2: which a gentleman should would, could never do, and every
[19:32] Speaker 2: blow he aims is below the belt. He particularly likes
[19:36] Speaker 2: to kick the vulnerable or voiceless, and he kicks them
[19:40] Speaker 2: when they are down. So the fact that a significant minority,
[19:45] Speaker 2: perhaps a third, of Americans, look at what he does,
[19:48] Speaker 2: listen to what he says, and then think, yeah, he
[19:51] Speaker 2: seems like my kind of guy, is a matter of
[19:53] Speaker 2: some confusion and no little distress to British people, given
[19:59] Speaker 2: that Americans are supposed to be nicer than us, and
[20:03] Speaker 2: mostly are, and you don't need a particularly keen eye
[20:07] Speaker 2: for detail to spot a few flaws in the man.
[20:12] Speaker 2: This last point he is especially what confuses and dismays
[20:16] Speaker 2: British people and many other people too. His faults seem
[20:20] Speaker 2: pretty bloody hard to miss. After all, it's impossible to
[20:24] Speaker 2: read a single tweet or hear him speak a sentence
[20:28] Speaker 2: or two without staring deep into the abyss. He turns
[20:33] Speaker 2: being art less into an art form. He is a
[20:37] Speaker 2: Picasso of pettiness, a Shakespeare of shit. His faults are fractal,
[20:44] Speaker 2: even his flaws have flaws, and so on, add infinitum.
[20:49] Speaker 2: God knows there have always been stupid people in the world,
[20:52] Speaker 2: and plenty of nasty people too, but rarely has stupidity
[20:56] Speaker 2: been so nasty or nastiness stupid. He makes Nixon look
[21:02] Speaker 2: trustworthy and George w looks smart. In fact, if Frankenstein
[21:08] Speaker 2: decided to make a monster assembled entirely from human flaws,
[21:12] Speaker 2: he would make a Trump and a remorseful doctor Frankenstein
[21:18] Speaker 2: would clutch out big clumfuls of hair and scream in anguish.
[21:23] Speaker 2: My god, what have I created? If Being a Twat
[21:29] Speaker 2: was a TV show, Trump would be the boxed set. God,
[21:36] Speaker 2: that's well written, isn't it. That's so freaking good. Let
[21:40] Speaker 2: me see if I can put that link in the
[21:42] Speaker 2: in the comments section here for anybody who wants to
[21:46] Speaker 2: to read that. It'll be in the live stream, and
[21:48] Speaker 2: I'll try to remember maybe to go back and put
[21:50] Speaker 2: it in the actual comments. God, it was very, very
[21:54] Speaker 2: well done. But we're talking about the weird, the wide,
[21:58] Speaker 2: the wacky, the the unthinkably stupid, the irredeemably stupid, because
[22:04] Speaker 2: the world seems to be. I mean, I talk about
[22:06] Speaker 2: in my speech that we live in a culture that
[22:08] Speaker 2: re elected Marjorie Taylor Green District fourteen in Georgia re
[22:13] Speaker 2: elected her twice, Right, twice they said, I want more
[22:18] Speaker 2: of that, Give me the Jewish space laser woman. I mean,
[22:22] Speaker 2: she literally believed that a cabal of Jewish probably bankers
[22:27] Speaker 2: or climate change legislation conspiracists were flying satellites over California
[22:34] Speaker 2: using layers to ignite wildfires, to burn the forest so
[22:38] Speaker 2: that those lefty liberal, radical Satanist Democrats could jam through
[22:45] Speaker 2: climate change legislation, which of course is communism. That's how
[22:51] Speaker 2: she thinks, that is how she thinks. You know, I
[22:56] Speaker 2: was talking about Bill Gates, Bill Gates who was growing
[23:01] Speaker 2: fake meat in a peach tree dish, a peach tree dish.
[23:10] Speaker 2: What was the context of the where she referenced the
[23:13] Speaker 2: gaspacho police. I can't trying to remember what that was exactly.
[23:18] Speaker 2: I mean, just time after time and talk about cruel
[23:21] Speaker 2: and petty, just a woman who was constructed of nothing
[23:25] Speaker 2: but human flaws. I'm just saying, I'm just saying, your
[23:34] Speaker 2: phone calls are next on the agenda. We'll talk to
[23:37] Speaker 2: you after this. Thanks for being here. I hope you're
[23:49] Speaker 2: enjoying this bonus show talking about I don't know, We've
[23:52] Speaker 2: been having to talk a lot of politics lately. I
[23:55] Speaker 2: know it drives some people crazy. We're going to take
[23:57] Speaker 2: a break on that next week with some thing totally different.
[24:02] Speaker 2: But you know, we're not giving a whole lot of choice,
[24:05] Speaker 2: and I think a lot of our listeners and viewers
[24:07] Speaker 2: want to vent about the things that are going on
[24:11] Speaker 2: in this country and in the world. Let's take a
[24:15] Speaker 2: look here and see if I have any chance that
[24:18] Speaker 2: warrant attention. First of all, I want to say net girl,
[24:21] Speaker 2: thank you so much for the support. It does mean
[24:25] Speaker 2: a lot to me. Karen High, any chance you'll be
[24:28] Speaker 2: coming to California this year? I have not yet been invited.
[24:31] Speaker 2: Usually I go when a free thought group or a
[24:33] Speaker 2: convention asks me to come and present. I've got aunt
[24:38] Speaker 2: enjoyed you and Eric SNS on the line this week.
[24:42] Speaker 2: Oh yeah, we hosted the Line after Dark show and
[24:48] Speaker 2: you can just go to YouTube and search the line
[24:51] Speaker 2: and you'll see our pictures there. But we did the
[24:52] Speaker 2: seven pm show last night and we took two and
[24:55] Speaker 2: a half hours of theis calls and bantered back and forth.
[24:58] Speaker 2: It wasn't a bad show. The calls are pretty good.
[25:00] Speaker 2: But I learned the term that I had not heard before.
[25:05] Speaker 2: It apparently was popularized in Wayne's world Now I loved
[25:08] Speaker 2: Wayne's World. I don't know why. I can't remember hearing
[25:11] Speaker 2: this the term in the movie. But Stephanie, who was
[25:16] Speaker 2: screening the calls, was talking about if someone called there
[25:19] Speaker 2: being a jerk or something, she called them a hose beast. Now,
[25:23] Speaker 2: as I understand it, this is a term that was
[25:27] Speaker 2: targeted to women. But I think a word like hose
[25:30] Speaker 2: beast should apply to anybody anywhere, and so I had
[25:34] Speaker 2: to look up the definition. Urban Dictionary has a definition.
[25:39] Speaker 2: It says a woman who is ruthless, evil, and outright
[25:43] Speaker 2: objectionable in both physical and mental presence. Well, I think
[25:47] Speaker 2: this should apply to anybody. You're disgusting and ruthless and evil,
[25:53] Speaker 2: you are a hose beast. So I don't have the
[25:58] Speaker 2: image here anymore. I put it on my whiteboard, my whiteboard,
[26:02] Speaker 2: and but I erased it. But I posted on my
[26:04] Speaker 2: Facebook page. I drew what I thought a hose beast
[26:07] Speaker 2: would look like. And so the word hose beast just
[26:12] Speaker 2: became a thing. It just became a thing. And so
[26:17] Speaker 2: we talked about the hose beast all night, and then
[26:19] Speaker 2: someone asked if Matt del Hunty would tattoo a my
[26:22] Speaker 2: hose beast drawing on his calf at the next charity event,
[26:26] Speaker 2: and of course they're referencing how long has it been
[26:28] Speaker 2: a year or two when I drew like a thirty
[26:31] Speaker 2: second sharpie drawing of my cat and for charity, Matt
[26:35] Speaker 2: de la Hunty had it permanently tattooed on his leg
[26:40] Speaker 2: and Kat's effigy lives there. Still it blows my mind.
[26:45] Speaker 2: When he told me he was going to do that,
[26:46] Speaker 2: I called him, I'm like, you cannot do this. You
[26:49] Speaker 2: cannot do this right. This was a joke. It was
[26:52] Speaker 2: a gag. I'm terrified, and he just like, no, I
[26:55] Speaker 2: think it's awesome. I'm going to permanently attach this a
[26:58] Speaker 2: much to my calf. That's what he did. Next time
[27:02] Speaker 2: you see him, I haven't pull his pants up to
[27:04] Speaker 2: his knee, and he will show you. He'll show you
[27:07] Speaker 2: my cat drawing on his leg. It's just whanky bumble beezy.
[27:12] Speaker 2: I've been saying sometimes you got to break the omelet
[27:14] Speaker 2: to make the egg since you said it a few
[27:17] Speaker 2: streams ago accidental idioms for the wind. Yeah, I inverted
[27:21] Speaker 2: it talking about eggs to make the omelet, but I
[27:24] Speaker 2: inverted it. Sometimes you got to break the omelet to
[27:26] Speaker 2: make the eggs. So essentially, I don't know, I bent
[27:30] Speaker 2: space time. I didn't mean to didn't mean to do that,
[27:35] Speaker 2: but it kind of stuck. So apparently it's stuck with you.
[27:37] Speaker 2: Thank you for the support and the super chats and
[27:41] Speaker 2: everybody else who donates. I'll queue you up here and
[27:43] Speaker 2: spend a little time and a few others. Dodo says,
[27:48] Speaker 2: hose Beast is Canadian. Oh that's awesome. If it's not true,
[27:54] Speaker 2: it needs to be, because I would think with Hoser, right,
[27:57] Speaker 2: isn't Hoser Canadian? From the McKenzie's The Great White North album?
[28:03] Speaker 2: Anybody else have? I actually had the album The McKenzie's.
[28:08] Speaker 2: It was it Bob and Doug mackenzie, the comedians and
[28:10] Speaker 2: like a Olzer you know, yeah, remember that a Great
[28:13] Speaker 2: White North album. Let's talk to my first caller, And
[28:20] Speaker 2: of course the switchboard remains open for everybody else. Lines
[28:23] Speaker 2: are in the description box five four to one. Hi,
[28:26] Speaker 2: what do I call you? Who's this?
[28:28] Speaker 4: Uh? Kara?
[28:29] Speaker 2: What's going on?
[28:31] Speaker 3: So I'm still kind of heated the moment because this
[28:34] Speaker 3: was just this morning and I saw your show. I
[28:39] Speaker 3: wrote something up because I wanted to post about it.
[28:41] Speaker 3: And tell the story. But I don't know you. I
[28:45] Speaker 3: caught you in the first few minutes of starting, so
[28:47] Speaker 3: I was encouraged to call because I've always wanted to.
[28:50] Speaker 3: But you've never been live. When I'm capable, look at.
[28:54] Speaker 2: Us, look at us. I'm live, You're here, You're live.
[28:57] Speaker 2: Let's talk what's on your mind.
[29:00] Speaker 3: So I'm a scene sea machinist, So I like program
[29:05] Speaker 3: robots to make stuff out of steel as kind of
[29:07] Speaker 3: the short sort description of that. Pretty good at my job,
[29:12] Speaker 3: and I started at this job like nine years ago.
[29:15] Speaker 3: They gave me the chance to come in and basically
[29:17] Speaker 3: be their their primary operator of all their scenec machines.
[29:21] Speaker 3: So I basically ran the department mostly by myself. I
[29:25] Speaker 3: kind of had to learn on the fly and figure
[29:27] Speaker 3: it all, figured it all out, and over the years
[29:31] Speaker 3: of I've earned the respect to the point where they
[29:34] Speaker 3: told me I am their favorite employee constantly.
[29:38] Speaker 2: Right.
[29:39] Speaker 3: So last Thursday, I walked into the office and I
[29:45] Speaker 3: do this to get cools, and there's shop tools and
[29:48] Speaker 3: that's kind of like a shared work office space and
[29:52] Speaker 3: on the wall is a calendar with I forget. I
[29:58] Speaker 3: didn't really look at it closely, but it wasically just
[30:00] Speaker 3: Trump Trump worship, and I had the text and the
[30:05] Speaker 3: wokeness under it, and it just immediately sent me into
[30:13] Speaker 3: a spin. You know, I walked out. I thought about
[30:17] Speaker 3: it for a few minutes. I walked back into my
[30:21] Speaker 3: boss and said, I need to talk to you. It's
[30:25] Speaker 3: probably going to get heated. So, you know, we went
[30:28] Speaker 3: into a room and I tried a bit because I
[30:36] Speaker 3: liked working there. You know, I didn't quit then, but
[30:41] Speaker 3: I explained my position. I'm like, I started, what is wolkness?
[30:48] Speaker 3: Do you know what that means? It's like, I could
[30:51] Speaker 3: mean many things, and that's a dodge. He's dodging my question.
[30:56] Speaker 3: So I asked, what does it mean to you? And
[31:02] Speaker 3: he basically just refused to answer. He would dodge to
[31:06] Speaker 3: I struggle to remember the whole conversation because you know
[31:09] Speaker 3: how that that goes, but he just he never like.
[31:15] Speaker 3: I explained the science, why it's important that the things
[31:18] Speaker 3: that Trump and the administration is doing, what Republicans are doing,
[31:22] Speaker 3: what it means to them, but what they think wolkenesses.
[31:27] Speaker 3: I explained all these physicians. I explained the science. I
[31:29] Speaker 3: talked about transience being denied care. I talked about literally everything,
[31:36] Speaker 3: how they're being treated in prisons, how they're being treated
[31:42] Speaker 3: as pedophiles in some cases by some people. It's just
[31:47] Speaker 3: there's no balance to their hatred and this and how
[31:51] Speaker 3: they want to basically raise people and this is the there,
[31:56] Speaker 3: this is the propaganda term they use for that, the
[31:59] Speaker 3: era sure of people's rights, everything, everything I've ex I
[32:05] Speaker 3: explained it as clearly as I could, and he tried
[32:08] Speaker 3: to basically what about ism, say, you know, what about Biden,
[32:12] Speaker 3: what about Kama? You know the twists and parents that
[32:16] Speaker 3: these people do, and mind you, I have a very
[32:22] Speaker 3: high tolerance for this stuff. This guy walks around with
[32:25] Speaker 3: a forty seven Trump hat, He's got patriotic stickers all
[32:29] Speaker 3: over his truck, seventeen seventy six flag, an eagle draped
[32:33] Speaker 3: flag across this rear window. He is a Trump supporter, obviously,
[32:40] Speaker 3: But as soon as you start posting that on the
[32:42] Speaker 3: wall of a workplace you were, you were saying you
[32:47] Speaker 3: are in support of the ending of that specific thing.
[32:52] Speaker 3: And I made my point. I said, if that stays
[32:55] Speaker 3: up and I see it on Monday, I'm going to
[32:58] Speaker 3: walk out. And walked in on Monday, and it was
[33:03] Speaker 3: still up this morning.
[33:06] Speaker 4: So I.
[33:11] Speaker 2: Mean, did you.
[33:13] Speaker 3: His brother ended up coming in as I was confronting him.
[33:16] Speaker 2: No, no, no, go ahead, going, I want to hear
[33:19] Speaker 2: how this story ends. He went in and the sign
[33:22] Speaker 2: and the wolkness was still up, and then what happened.
[33:26] Speaker 3: So he went and took it down quickly, fairly quickly.
[33:30] Speaker 3: But it was after I had to confront them again
[33:33] Speaker 3: because and I told him it, and I reiterated my
[33:37] Speaker 3: point and all that, and he tried and he got offended.
[33:41] Speaker 3: He said I attacked him. He said that he wasn't
[33:45] Speaker 3: prepared for that, and I'm like, well, it's still there
[33:49] Speaker 3: because he works on Friday. I do not, So he
[33:51] Speaker 3: had he had a whole day to think about it
[33:53] Speaker 3: and either leave it up or take it down. And
[33:57] Speaker 3: as far as I'm concerned, him leaving it up as
[34:00] Speaker 3: basically taking the stance that he doesn't want me there anymore.
[34:03] Speaker 3: I know he doesn't. I honestly know he doesn't, because
[34:07] Speaker 3: it was very clear he did not want me to leave.
[34:10] Speaker 3: His brother didn't want me to leave. His brother walked
[34:12] Speaker 3: in kind of as I was confronting him. There's coworkers
[34:15] Speaker 3: standing there, and when his brother laid in, he's I
[34:21] Speaker 3: have no respect for this guy. Really, honestly, he's not
[34:24] Speaker 3: a very smart person when it comes to this stuff.
[34:27] Speaker 3: He's very right wing, conservative Christian. So he comes in,
[34:35] Speaker 3: he doesn't know the context. I didn't talk to him
[34:37] Speaker 3: very much, so he's only getting a small piece of
[34:40] Speaker 3: the story. And but he follows me out after Basically
[34:44] Speaker 3: I came to the point where I'm just like, fine,
[34:46] Speaker 3: I'm done, I'm packing my shit and I'm leaving. So
[34:49] Speaker 3: I walk out. He follows me, The other coworker follows,
[34:53] Speaker 3: and we kind of he tried to play the both
[34:57] Speaker 3: of them. Actually, he tried to do the So you know,
[35:01] Speaker 3: we've always respected you, and we've always treated you fairly,
[35:04] Speaker 3: and honestly they have, I can honestly say they have.
[35:07] Speaker 3: They've treated me with all the respective in me as
[35:09] Speaker 3: much leeway as I want to do what I needed
[35:12] Speaker 3: to do to get work done. They just give me
[35:15] Speaker 3: work and as long as it was done before it
[35:17] Speaker 3: needed to be, they left me alone. Right, So they
[35:21] Speaker 3: had the respect for me, I had the respect for them.
[35:24] Speaker 3: I had to draw a line, and they just refused
[35:27] Speaker 3: the button on it until the last second when it
[35:31] Speaker 3: became real for them. So I ended up saying something like,
[35:37] Speaker 3: you know, if you clustered the walls in religious bullshit,
[35:39] Speaker 3: I'd probably do the same thing. And Aaron actually I
[35:43] Speaker 3: used the real name there, but he he basically got
[35:47] Speaker 3: in my face like he took it offensively, as if
[35:50] Speaker 3: I was attacking him, And It's like, dude, that's my right.
[35:55] Speaker 3: And I'm like, do you see what he's doing right now?
[35:56] Speaker 3: You got in my face right? And I looked at
[35:59] Speaker 3: my cowork You see what he's doing getting offended because
[36:02] Speaker 3: I don't agree with him. This is why I'm leaving.
[36:06] Speaker 3: So I packed my stiffs and walked out. Have you
[36:11] Speaker 3: heard offered that if they get somebody to train, I'll
[36:15] Speaker 3: train them. Well, I'd come in and kind of point
[36:18] Speaker 3: some fingers and tell him what to do to get started.
[36:21] Speaker 3: But that's about the end of it.
[36:22] Speaker 2: Have you heard from them since? Have they come back
[36:25] Speaker 2: and said we want to make this right, or we're
[36:28] Speaker 2: so sorry, or any anything like that.
[36:31] Speaker 3: Only a text from the HR basically saying your checks ready.
[36:36] Speaker 3: I called and talked to her shortly, kind of gave
[36:38] Speaker 3: her that the short story.
[36:41] Speaker 2: I don't know what the legalities are. I think if
[36:44] Speaker 2: a private employer wants to hang signs, I think they're
[36:49] Speaker 2: they have the right to.
[36:49] Speaker 3: Hang it illegal. Yeah, it's perfectly illegal for them to
[36:54] Speaker 3: do that, but it's it's also just if your employees
[36:58] Speaker 3: have for right to just leave.
[36:59] Speaker 2: Oh yeah, No, No, I'm not saying that you didn't
[37:01] Speaker 2: have every right to say life's too short. I'm not
[37:04] Speaker 2: going to stand. It's literally under the shadow of an
[37:08] Speaker 2: attack on democracy and decency in my country and in
[37:11] Speaker 2: my life. I totally get that. I was what I
[37:14] Speaker 2: was doing is working it out of my mind? Is
[37:16] Speaker 2: there any legal recourse? Does this qualify as a hostile
[37:20] Speaker 2: work environment? A lot of those questions are beyond my
[37:23] Speaker 2: pay grade. So you're out? I mean, do you have
[37:27] Speaker 2: a plan? B? Do you have a fork in the
[37:30] Speaker 2: road option? Going on?
[37:33] Speaker 3: Frankly, I'm not even worried. Like I'm just a very
[37:38] Speaker 3: skilled person. I can learn very quickly. I think I
[37:40] Speaker 3: can sell that in an interview very easily. So I'm
[37:44] Speaker 3: no rad. It's just a matter. I really enjoyed that place.
[37:50] Speaker 3: It meant a lot to me to stay there, and
[37:52] Speaker 3: it got to the point where everyone there basically I
[37:55] Speaker 3: loved working with them. I've formed close friendships. There's a
[37:58] Speaker 3: lot of the people there and it's crazy to throw
[38:02] Speaker 3: the nine years years of your life away in a sense,
[38:07] Speaker 3: and I think it's a story about standing up for principles,
[38:11] Speaker 3: and especially in political times like this, when you when
[38:15] Speaker 3: you are forced to stand up for.
[38:17] Speaker 2: Your principles, you're a person of conviction. And it's remarkable
[38:22] Speaker 2: how many relationships have been splintered because the people we
[38:28] Speaker 2: expected to have our backs out there and to have
[38:32] Speaker 2: I don't know, a moral center or at least to
[38:34] Speaker 2: be semi conscious, are enabling the agents of harm. I'm
[38:39] Speaker 2: so sorry for your troubles, but I don't know. I
[38:44] Speaker 2: have nothing but respect for you taking a moral stand
[38:48] Speaker 2: like that and just telling them, hey, life short and
[38:51] Speaker 2: I don't have to put up with it. And you know,
[38:53] Speaker 2: a lot of people they wouldn't be able to do
[38:55] Speaker 2: what you did, maybe for financial reasons or other reasons.
[38:58] Speaker 2: But wow, I'm just blown away by you. And I'm
[39:00] Speaker 2: glad you felt safe enough to be able to call
[39:02] Speaker 2: and tell us the story here and and you're loved
[39:05] Speaker 2: and supported and we grieve with you. It's sort of
[39:08] Speaker 2: the death of decency out there. So big hug from
[39:11] Speaker 2: all of us to you. Okay, yeah, all right, thanks for.
[39:17] Speaker 3: Literally one of my heroes.
[39:19] Speaker 2: Oh, set your bar a little higher. But thanks for
[39:24] Speaker 2: the kind words. It means a lot, So we'll talk again.
[39:27] Speaker 2: Take care, I'd be careful. Almost drank out of my
[39:32] Speaker 2: coffee and it's got the middle finger. I do not
[39:34] Speaker 2: want to give Cara the middle finger. That would be rude,
[39:36] Speaker 2: so I'm going to drink it. So it just says
[39:40] Speaker 2: I'm a great day because I don't want to. Brandy
[39:44] Speaker 2: is calling on a weblink, Brandy. Are you with me? Brandy? Brandy,
[39:54] Speaker 2: this is God Brandy. Tap your phone in case your
[40:00] Speaker 2: phone has gone to sleep. Can you hear me? Sack
[40:05] Speaker 2: now I can now? Yes, welcome.
[40:08] Speaker 4: It was your godly voice that brought me back.
[40:10] Speaker 1: Thank you.
[40:11] Speaker 2: It was like follow the light right, walk toward the
[40:14] Speaker 2: light and we will have it. Will we will be
[40:16] Speaker 2: united here on the air. And so I'm glad you
[40:20] Speaker 2: made it. The call sounds great. Now talk to me.
[40:22] Speaker 2: What's on your mat? Did I get your name right?
[40:24] Speaker 2: Is it Brandy?
[40:26] Speaker 4: It is Brandy Beckett?
[40:27] Speaker 2: Yes, wonderful. Well, I'm so glad you're here. And whatever
[40:30] Speaker 2: you want to talk about, what's on your mind?
[40:33] Speaker 4: Okay. So I've been avoiding a lot of the news
[40:38] Speaker 4: because it's been devastating lately, but I happen to stumble
[40:41] Speaker 4: across a bill that is proposed in Texas right now.
[40:45] Speaker 4: It's proposed this month. It's House Built thirty eight seventeen,
[40:49] Speaker 4: and it is the most frightening bill I've read thus far.
[40:53] Speaker 4: And I've read more than five hundred of these anti
[40:58] Speaker 4: trans bills across the United States. It's with the MAGA
[41:01] Speaker 4: party authorizing and orchestrating all of them, and it is scary.
[41:07] Speaker 2: This.
[41:07] Speaker 4: I don't know if you've read this new bill yet,
[41:10] Speaker 4: but if it passes, it takes effect in September of
[41:13] Speaker 4: this year, and it will make it fraudulent for any
[41:18] Speaker 4: person to show government ID use oral confirmation to a
[41:24] Speaker 4: government agency, of any agency, or to a workplace if
[41:29] Speaker 4: your gender is different than your of signed sex at birth.
[41:37] Speaker 2: I just looked it up. Oh, March of twenty eight, big,
[41:41] Speaker 2: can you read it? Twenty five? Yeah? I'm doing my
[41:45] Speaker 2: best here. I think you actually have said it best.
[41:50] Speaker 2: This essentially is what you just told me. The bill
[41:53] Speaker 2: HB Thirty eight to seventeen Texas propose the creation of
[41:57] Speaker 2: a new criminal offense known as gender identity fraud. It
[42:02] Speaker 2: introduces section thirty two five one five to the Penal Code,
[42:06] Speaker 2: which defines the offense. There's that word offense as knowingly
[42:10] Speaker 2: making a false or misleading statement regarding one's biological sex
[42:14] Speaker 2: to a governmental entity or employer, specifically by identifying as
[42:19] Speaker 2: the opposite of the biological sex assigned at earth. This
[42:22] Speaker 2: Act categorizes such an offense as a state jail felony.
[42:28] Speaker 2: Yet another I don't know. Trans people seem to be
[42:32] Speaker 2: the boogeyman right trans people and immigrants right now are
[42:35] Speaker 2: the one two punch of boogeyman for Maggat culture and
[42:38] Speaker 2: for Project twenty twenty five types. They seem to have
[42:41] Speaker 2: no shame and no bottom. I'm sure you feel that way, Brandy.
[42:45] Speaker 4: Oh my goodness. I was in Texas during the elections
[42:49] Speaker 4: in November. It was getting so scary down there. I
[42:53] Speaker 4: had to get out of that state. And now I'm
[42:57] Speaker 4: I'm convinced there's I cannot go back to that state.
[43:00] Speaker 4: If I am driving through that state and I get
[43:03] Speaker 4: pulled over for any reason and I show any law
[43:07] Speaker 4: enforcement agency my legal real I D my Massachusetts real
[43:14] Speaker 4: ID or my real birth certificate. If I show my
[43:19] Speaker 4: not my certificate, but my passport, if I show my
[43:22] Speaker 4: passport or my real ID United States government issued I
[43:27] Speaker 4: D I will be committing a fallony in Texas. If
[43:31] Speaker 4: I to get a job in Texas and I show
[43:34] Speaker 4: them my ID to fill out a W four form,
[43:39] Speaker 4: I will be committing a fallion which could put me
[43:42] Speaker 4: in prison. This is United States America, still right the
[43:48] Speaker 4: state right below you set the state I actually met
[43:52] Speaker 4: you in.
[43:56] Speaker 2: I understand, No, you don't live in Texas. Now, obviously,
[44:02] Speaker 2: do you know of any resource that people could use
[44:05] Speaker 2: to maybe turn up the heats. I'm guessing maybe the
[44:09] Speaker 2: a c l U or organizations like American Atheist f
[44:12] Speaker 2: FRF or others may have some legal maneuverings going on.
[44:18] Speaker 2: But are you.
[44:18] Speaker 4: Aware of legal protections that there's no legal actions they
[44:23] Speaker 4: can do if they strip away all legal protections? What
[44:27] Speaker 4: legal actions do you do?
[44:30] Speaker 3: Now?
[44:30] Speaker 2: I'm just I get what you're saying. Maybe I'm what
[44:33] Speaker 2: I'm saying is is there a resistance for us of
[44:36] Speaker 2: some kind? Certainly lawsuits would and could be filed. I
[44:41] Speaker 2: wish I was I wish I was more of an
[44:44] Speaker 2: expert on this type of stuff, but I really.
[44:46] Speaker 4: Am on my pay grade and I'm an I study
[44:51] Speaker 4: anthropology and and I've studied when the when societies shift
[44:58] Speaker 4: to a fascist dictatorship, and it's scary stuff that comes
[45:03] Speaker 4: out of this. I don't think there's I think at
[45:06] Speaker 4: this point, for me, I stop doing my online activism
[45:13] Speaker 4: because at this point it's survival mode.
[45:15] Speaker 2: Yeah, that that it does.
[45:18] Speaker 4: Like as a community and as an individual. If I
[45:22] Speaker 4: want to survive at least the next four years of
[45:26] Speaker 4: these attacks, and the attacks will ramp up and they
[45:30] Speaker 4: will become more harsh, and these attacks of I want
[45:36] Speaker 4: to survive, if I want my family to survive, I
[45:39] Speaker 4: need to just be underground and and and that makes
[45:44] Speaker 4: me sad because there are so many people in my
[45:46] Speaker 4: community who can't just be under the radar, and I
[45:51] Speaker 4: don't I don't know how to help them. And that's
[45:53] Speaker 4: why I'm shouting. I don't know what to do for
[45:55] Speaker 4: people who can't hide under the radar.
[45:58] Speaker 2: What do we do? Well, that's a T shirt, doesn't
[46:01] Speaker 2: it to mark the times? What do we do? And
[46:07] Speaker 2: I don't know the answer. I think we are all
[46:10] Speaker 2: looking for rallying points to put public pressure on people.
[46:14] Speaker 2: I don't think that the agents of cruelty are going
[46:17] Speaker 2: to do anything in our interest. They will only act
[46:20] Speaker 2: in self interest, and I think they're going to have
[46:22] Speaker 2: to feel so much heat and so much pressure, they're
[46:25] Speaker 2: going to have to literally, you know, we're going to
[46:28] Speaker 2: have to overshadow and overwhelm them to the point where
[46:30] Speaker 2: they have no choice. What does that look like? I
[46:33] Speaker 2: do not know, but I'm more and more convinced that
[46:36] Speaker 2: things are going to get really, really, really nasty, and
[46:40] Speaker 2: it may have to be nasty. I don't know. You know,
[46:43] Speaker 2: I've never seen anything like this in my lifetime. I'm
[46:46] Speaker 2: sure most people haven't. But my heart goes down to you,
[46:50] Speaker 2: and I'm so glad you brought this to my attention.
[46:52] Speaker 2: I'll do some further reading about the maneuverings going on
[46:55] Speaker 2: in Texas and we'll see perhaps have some official legal
[46:59] Speaker 2: challenges from outside the state of Texas are filed via
[47:03] Speaker 2: the ACLU or other organizations.
[47:05] Speaker 4: Okay, I know that's the long battle. I'm also concerned
[47:10] Speaker 4: about the current battle, like there's going to be people
[47:13] Speaker 4: in Texas within the next year who are going to
[47:16] Speaker 4: need physical shelters, who are going to need physical channels
[47:20] Speaker 4: to get out of their dangerous areas. I don't have
[47:24] Speaker 4: these resources. I don't have these connections. I'm hoping you
[47:27] Speaker 4: can put messages out there and maybe you can connect
[47:30] Speaker 4: with someone who has some kind of organization that can
[47:35] Speaker 4: help these individuals who are going to be persecuted, like
[47:39] Speaker 4: we haven't seen the United States before in a long
[47:42] Speaker 4: long time.
[47:46] Speaker 2: I'm speechless. I think all of us are, like I
[47:50] Speaker 2: think our hearts are all breaking, and we're scared and
[47:52] Speaker 2: we're pissed and so but I'm so thankful for you,
[47:58] Speaker 2: and you know, I just know that there is a culture,
[48:02] Speaker 2: not just a show, not just a listenership, not just
[48:05] Speaker 2: a channel, but there's a culture. There is a large
[48:08] Speaker 2: demographic of people who ache and grieve and fight with you,
[48:13] Speaker 2: and we'll figure it out. I don't know what it's
[48:16] Speaker 2: going to look like, but we're not quitting anytime soon.
[48:19] Speaker 4: Okay, Well, I'll tell you what seth When I'm around
[48:23] Speaker 4: people who are out atheists, that's like the only community
[48:27] Speaker 4: I feel safe coming out and seeing I'm a trans
[48:29] Speaker 4: woman too now in this climate. And thank you. And
[48:35] Speaker 4: do you remember on the ACA's one thousandth episode down
[48:39] Speaker 4: in Austin, I was able to meet you down there
[48:42] Speaker 4: and we had such a lovely time and I really
[48:46] Speaker 4: appreciate you and your words that you've gave to me
[48:49] Speaker 4: that night and the words you give to me today
[48:52] Speaker 4: really give me hope and comfort. So thank you, Seth.
[48:56] Speaker 2: Well, it was an honor to be able to meet
[48:58] Speaker 2: you in Austin, Texas on the one thousand. Big hug
[49:01] Speaker 2: from me and Natalie and Linus and Gracie and Kat.
[49:04] Speaker 4: Okay, I appreciate you, Thank you so kindly.
[49:08] Speaker 2: Thanks for calling. We'll see you. I started the show
[49:13] Speaker 2: talking about the stupidity. Here's an argument that I just
[49:18] Speaker 2: don't get. And I heard it a few days ago.
[49:21] Speaker 2: It was on somebody else's thread and they were talking
[49:26] Speaker 2: about the gas lighting and the lying and the cruelty
[49:29] Speaker 2: and all the stuff that you and I talk about
[49:31] Speaker 2: ad nauseum. And there is a series of consistent MAGA cultists,
[49:40] Speaker 2: and I'll call them cultists because they are eyeball deep
[49:43] Speaker 2: in the kool aid. These people are just literal brick wall,
[49:47] Speaker 2: just ban bring bring you cannot get through. So it
[49:53] Speaker 2: was a laundry list of I think she posted reposted
[49:58] Speaker 2: something by American historian Cox richardson you know what, I'm
[50:04] Speaker 2: I'm not going to read it. She posts like every
[50:06] Speaker 2: day and everything she posts is really good. Maybe I'll
[50:11] Speaker 2: pull uh the Today's article up and read it for you.
[50:15] Speaker 2: I don't know. We've got a little time. I'm doing
[50:18] Speaker 2: a guest shot on another show here in about forty
[50:21] Speaker 2: five minutes, but we got a little time anyway. My
[50:23] Speaker 2: point is this, we're going through the specific details bullet
[50:28] Speaker 2: points of awfulness just in this week just boo boo
[50:32] Speaker 2: boo boo boop. I mean, it was just a worst
[50:34] Speaker 2: hits of awfulness, and one of the Magas jumps in reliably.
[50:41] Speaker 2: I mean, I am talking about a she's a maga parrot.
[50:46] Speaker 2: Just drop. He's awesome that she is, that she is
[50:50] Speaker 2: that person, and she has no idea what she's talking about.
[50:55] Speaker 2: So every time I sometimes to amuse myself, I go
[50:58] Speaker 2: in and I will make a direction to the record, well,
[51:02] Speaker 2: actually you said this, but what has happened is this, this, this, this, this,
[51:05] Speaker 2: and then crickets. He doesn't respond because she doesn't know
[51:08] Speaker 2: what the fuck she's talking about. It's almost like talking
[51:12] Speaker 2: to a Christian who knows nothing about the Bible and
[51:16] Speaker 2: they want to argue the Bible, and so all you
[51:18] Speaker 2: do is you're like, well, actually the verse says this,
[51:20] Speaker 2: and the context is this and it was written here
[51:22] Speaker 2: and here's the bah blah, and they did, hey, good,
[51:25] Speaker 2: Jesus is loved mine and then they'd ghost you. Right,
[51:28] Speaker 2: they're gone. So she jumps in and she does this
[51:32] Speaker 2: little number. You know what, you haven't been able to
[51:37] Speaker 2: say one good thing about Donald Trump. I'll bet if
[51:42] Speaker 2: I ask you to name one thing, you couldn't do it,
[51:46] Speaker 2: which tells me how biased you are. You need to
[51:50] Speaker 2: be a good finder. Got such a vacuous response. An
[51:59] Speaker 2: honest person, someone truly objective, who wasn't let around by
[52:03] Speaker 2: that democratic nosering, would be able to find at least
[52:07] Speaker 2: one good thing about the man. I mean, I'm sorry.
[52:10] Speaker 2: The house is on fire and they're trying to They
[52:12] Speaker 2: want me to find something pretty. I just don't understand,
[52:17] Speaker 2: so I responded, I just read it. Let me pull
[52:21] Speaker 2: this up your hang on, And I didn't expect to
[52:23] Speaker 2: do this. And honestly, she is as sharp as a marble. Anyway,
[52:29] Speaker 2: I mean, I'm gonna say this lightly. I've seen her
[52:32] Speaker 2: off and on. I know she is. She's so dense
[52:36] Speaker 2: that light bends around her. You know what I'm saying. Okay,
[52:41] Speaker 2: So anyway, be a good finder, all right, if you
[52:44] Speaker 2: want to be credible, then you need to, you know,
[52:48] Speaker 2: you need to find something, acknowledge one good thing that
[52:51] Speaker 2: he or his followers have done. So, I responded. This
[52:55] Speaker 2: is colloquially known as the Hitler loved Dogs fallacy granted,
[53:02] Speaker 2: even though twenty seventeen to twenty nineteen Chief of Staff
[53:06] Speaker 2: General John Kelly reported that Trump thought Hitler quote did
[53:10] Speaker 2: some good things too, and wanted his own generals to
[53:14] Speaker 2: obey him in authoritarian lockstep. Donald isn't Adolf, but the
[53:19] Speaker 2: Hitler loved Dogs example is useful for examining how great
[53:24] Speaker 2: harm is dismissed by those more focused on the shiny
[53:28] Speaker 2: reflection than the dangerous blade. Interestingly, I don't think Trump
[53:35] Speaker 2: even loves dogs. He's admitted he loves his daughter, but
[53:39] Speaker 2: with sexual overtones, so that probably shouldn't count. He loves money,
[53:44] Speaker 2: bilking his vendors, revenge, his words are get even. He
[53:48] Speaker 2: loves porn stars, murderous dictators like Kim Jong un, who
[53:53] Speaker 2: also has a hitlerresque general set, scamming college kids and
[53:57] Speaker 2: stealing from children's charities, more money, unquestioned power, some golf,
[54:03] Speaker 2: big Max even more money, and obviously himself. He loves
[54:09] Speaker 2: himself yet somehow Maga swoons in his shadow. He's so strong.
[54:15] Speaker 2: He loves us, he loves America. The Democrats can be
[54:21] Speaker 2: frustrating with they remain a party in a platform, not
[54:25] Speaker 2: a cult of personality, where authoritarian power is gladly handed
[54:29] Speaker 2: to a king by the commoners. Watch Donald threaten anyone
[54:36] Speaker 2: and everyone who grazes his delicate skin, threatening dissenters, legal protesters,
[54:42] Speaker 2: judges who rule his actions on lawful media outlets correcting
[54:46] Speaker 2: the record, even loyal allies who have somehow become opportunities
[54:51] Speaker 2: for Trumpian conquest. Hey, I now claim this land called Canada.
[55:00] Speaker 2: All the while the most privileged people, white heteroconservative Christians
[55:05] Speaker 2: cry grievance against the vermin while defending the hitler who
[55:10] Speaker 2: loves dogs. I will never again wonder how Jim Jones
[55:17] Speaker 2: got his followers to drink the poison. No response. Yeah,
[55:30] Speaker 2: I'm telling you she you just don't go into a
[55:34] Speaker 2: wrestling match unarmed as always like she doesn't know what
[55:37] Speaker 2: the fuck she's talking about. I'm like, okay, mine, you
[55:40] Speaker 2: want to engage. It's not like I'm a great mind,
[55:42] Speaker 2: but at least I know a little bit about the subjects,
[55:44] Speaker 2: right A little bit. I don't see anybody else on
[55:48] Speaker 2: the switchboard. Perhaps we'll call it here in just a
[55:50] Speaker 2: few minutes, or maybe I'll read an article from Heather
[55:53] Speaker 2: Cox Richardson. David, thank you for the superchat. Arwin might
[56:00] Speaker 2: have been wrong. You would think the stupid gene would
[56:03] Speaker 2: have deleted the dumb by now. I think Bill Burr
[56:09] Speaker 2: said something like that. Just let the idiots filter themselves
[56:13] Speaker 2: unto the gene pool. The problem is is that they
[56:15] Speaker 2: take everybody else with them. You know, these people have children,
[56:20] Speaker 2: vulnerable kids. They have people in their lives who depend
[56:23] Speaker 2: on them. So it's not like stupidity lives in a vacuum.
[56:26] Speaker 2: What's that line? You know how when you die you
[56:29] Speaker 2: don't feel a thing, but everybody else is in vain.
[56:32] Speaker 2: It's the same thing when you're stupid. Mark says sociopaths
[56:37] Speaker 2: do not understand normal emotions, so they do not have pets.
[56:41] Speaker 2: Why would they try to extend love when they don't
[56:44] Speaker 2: get it. I don't know much about sociopathy rather and pets.
[56:51] Speaker 2: I would be interested to find out. It is hard.
[56:54] Speaker 2: How does a creature that has not empathy then give
[56:59] Speaker 2: and receive love in any real capacity? I don't know.
[57:04] Speaker 2: Somebody like that is very hose Beastie, aren't they definite
[57:09] Speaker 2: hose beast? Okay, I'm going to read this piece posted
[57:16] Speaker 2: on the last day of March. She actually comes out
[57:19] Speaker 2: with content almost every day, but this piece was the
[57:24] Speaker 2: one that was the latest when the live stream went out,
[57:28] Speaker 2: and so I'm going to read American historian Heather Cox
[57:31] Speaker 2: Richardson sort of summing up recent events. She's really good.
[57:36] Speaker 2: It's worth the wait. Hang on. Okay, last fifteen twenty
[57:46] Speaker 2: minutes of the show me reading an article from American
[57:50] Speaker 2: historian Heather Cox Richardson March thirtieth, twenty twenty five, Sunday
[57:56] Speaker 2: on the Fox News Channel This Morning, Director of the
[57:59] Speaker 2: National Economic Council Kevin Hassett said, President Trump has a
[58:04] Speaker 2: long run vision of a golden age of America, and
[58:08] Speaker 2: we're working really, really hard to get it out there
[58:10] Speaker 2: in time. But I can't give you any forward looking
[58:13] Speaker 2: guidance on what's going to happen this week. The President
[58:17] Speaker 2: has got a heck of a lot of analysis before him,
[58:20] Speaker 2: and he's going to make the right choice. I'm sure
[58:24] Speaker 2: the National Economic Council is the primary group the President
[58:27] Speaker 2: uses to develop domestic and international economic policy. So the
[58:32] Speaker 2: fact that Hassett appears to have no idea what's coming
[58:35] Speaker 2: is concerning. Trump has declared April second Liberation Day because
[58:41] Speaker 2: he will announce big new tariffs, posting on his social
[58:45] Speaker 2: media site March twenty first quote. For decades, we have
[58:49] Speaker 2: been ripped off and abused by every nation in the world,
[58:52] Speaker 2: both friend and foe. Now it is finally time for
[58:55] Speaker 2: the good old USA to get some of that money
[58:58] Speaker 2: and respect back. God bless American. A bunch of this
[59:03] Speaker 2: stuff is capitalized and improper orders. Spare you that. Other
[59:08] Speaker 2: Trump regime officials appear similarly uninformed about Trump's plans. Fox
[59:13] Speaker 2: News Channel personality Shannon Breem asked Peter Navarro, Trump's senior
[59:18] Speaker 2: counselor for Trade and manufacturing, what to say to consumers
[59:22] Speaker 2: who worry that tariffs are going to raise prices. He answered,
[59:26] Speaker 2: trust in Trump. He then claimed that tariffs are tax cuts,
[59:33] Speaker 2: which makes sense only if he means the tariffs which
[59:36] Speaker 2: raise prices on consumers might provide enough revenue for the
[59:39] Speaker 2: government to enable Republicans to justify tax cuts on the
[59:43] Speaker 2: wealthy and corporations. Trump campaigned on the promise to quote
[59:48] Speaker 2: immediately bring prices down starting on day one, but his
[59:53] Speaker 2: tariffs have already helped to push inflation upward. Josh Daucy
[59:58] Speaker 2: and Ryan Felton of The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday,
[1:00:01] Speaker 2: Trump warned the chief executive officers of quote, some of
[1:00:05] Speaker 2: the country's top auto manufacturers not to raise prices because
[1:00:10] Speaker 2: of the twenty five percent tariffs he has just put
[1:00:13] Speaker 2: on cars and car parts, telling them that the tariffs
[1:00:16] Speaker 2: are good for them. On Saturday, Trump denied he had
[1:00:22] Speaker 2: made such a request and told NBC news is Kristin
[1:00:25] Speaker 2: Welker that quote, I couldn't care less if they raise
[1:00:29] Speaker 2: prices because people are going to start buying American cars.
[1:00:33] Speaker 2: I couldn't care less, he repeated. I hope they raised
[1:00:36] Speaker 2: their prices because if they do, people are going to
[1:00:39] Speaker 2: buy American made cars. We have plenty. A White House
[1:00:44] Speaker 2: aid told NBC News that the President was referring to
[1:00:47] Speaker 2: foreign car prices. And then there is Friday story. The
[1:00:51] Speaker 2: Secretary of Defense, Pete hag Seth, has been taking not
[1:00:55] Speaker 2: only his brother but also his wife along with him
[1:00:58] Speaker 2: to meetings with foreign military counterparts where sensitive information was discussed.
[1:01:05] Speaker 2: Katherine Long, Max Colchester, Daniel Michaels and Lindsey Wise of
[1:01:11] Speaker 2: The Wall Street Journal note that her inclusion in such
[1:01:14] Speaker 2: meetings is unusual. Jennifer Hegseth also accompanied Hegseth to his
[1:01:18] Speaker 2: private meetings with senators during the process of his Senate confirmation,
[1:01:23] Speaker 2: making it awkward to ask questions about allegations related to
[1:01:28] Speaker 2: infidelity and sexual misconduct. Both Trump and Hegseth have made
[1:01:33] Speaker 2: it their gold perds the United States of what they
[1:01:36] Speaker 2: call Marxism and what Hegseth calls woke shit. That is,
[1:01:42] Speaker 2: the racial, gender, and religious diversity that Americans have embraced
[1:01:47] Speaker 2: since World War II. That means taking the government the
[1:01:51] Speaker 2: country is built over the last eighty years down to
[1:01:54] Speaker 2: the ground and rebuilding it as they imagine it was before,
[1:01:57] Speaker 2: with men like them in charge. The Trump regime is
[1:02:02] Speaker 2: the result of at least forty five years a Republican
[1:02:05] Speaker 2: rhetoric that undermined the idea of a government that worked
[1:02:08] Speaker 2: for the good of everyone by claiming that such a
[1:02:11] Speaker 2: government was socialism or Marxism. That argument had nothing to
[1:02:17] Speaker 2: do with actual Marxism, which called for the people to
[1:02:20] Speaker 2: take over farms and factories, and everything to do with
[1:02:23] Speaker 2: America's peculiar history. During the Civil War of the eighteen sixties,
[1:02:28] Speaker 2: the Republicans in Congress both ended human enslavement in the
[1:02:32] Speaker 2: US except as punishment for crime, and invented the nation's
[1:02:36] Speaker 2: first system of national taxation, including the income tax. After
[1:02:42] Speaker 2: the war, racist former Confederates in the South refused to
[1:02:46] Speaker 2: accept the idea that black Americans were equal to their
[1:02:49] Speaker 2: white neighbors and tried to force formerly enslaved people into subservience.
[1:02:55] Speaker 2: To stop that from happening, Americans in eighteen sixty eight
[1:02:59] Speaker 2: added the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution, putting the weight
[1:03:03] Speaker 2: of the federal government behind equal rights. In eighteen seventy,
[1:03:07] Speaker 2: Americans added to the Constitution the Fifteenth Amendment, guaranteeing the
[1:03:13] Speaker 2: right of black men to vote. Also in eighteen seventy,
[1:03:17] Speaker 2: Congress established the Department of Justice to prosecute those on
[1:03:22] Speaker 2: the South who continued to persecute their black neighbors on
[1:03:26] Speaker 2: grounds of race. In response, former Confederates in eighteen seventy
[1:03:31] Speaker 2: one began to maintain falsely that they had never objected
[1:03:35] Speaker 2: to black rights on racial grounds. What they opposed, they said,
[1:03:39] Speaker 2: was that poor black men, impoverished because of their time
[1:03:43] Speaker 2: in slavery had the right to vote. Those men would,
[1:03:47] Speaker 2: they said, vote for services like roads and schools and hospitals,
[1:03:51] Speaker 2: and such services could be paid for only through tax
[1:03:54] Speaker 2: levies on property To Americans, who overwhelmingly were white men. Us,
[1:04:00] Speaker 2: permitting black men to vote meant socialism that would destroy
[1:04:05] Speaker 2: the United States. To restore true American values, former Confederates
[1:04:10] Speaker 2: and their northern counterparts insisted black Americans must be shot
[1:04:15] Speaker 2: out of a voice in government. That rhetoric resurfaced after
[1:04:20] Speaker 2: World War II. In that era, the vast majority of
[1:04:23] Speaker 2: Americans embraced a government that worked for everyone by regulating business,
[1:04:29] Speaker 2: providing a basic social safety net, promoting infrastructure, and protecting
[1:04:33] Speaker 2: civil rights. But those Republicans, eager to avoid regulation and taxation,
[1:04:38] Speaker 2: reached back to the Reconstruction to insist that a government
[1:04:42] Speaker 2: that worked in the interest of all Americans was redistributing
[1:04:47] Speaker 2: wealth from hard working Americans to undeserving minorities and women.
[1:04:53] Speaker 2: Restoring true American values, they said, meant making sure that
[1:04:57] Speaker 2: Marxists and minorities could not influence politics, especially after the
[1:05:03] Speaker 2: nineteen sixty five Voting Rights Act restored voting rights to
[1:05:06] Speaker 2: black Americans and people of color. That rhetoric. The tied
[1:05:11] Speaker 2: racism and taxes elected Ronald Reagan to the White House
[1:05:15] Speaker 2: in nineteen eighty, and it has since metastasized until the
[1:05:19] Speaker 2: top seven donors to the twenty twenty four political cycle
[1:05:23] Speaker 2: together gave almost a billion dollars to Republicans, with Elon
[1:05:29] Speaker 2: Musk alone contributing more than two hundred ninety one million.
[1:05:35] Speaker 2: The list compiled by Open Secrets shows that Democratic donors
[1:05:39] Speaker 2: don't kick in until number eight on the list, former
[1:05:43] Speaker 2: New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who gave slightly more
[1:05:46] Speaker 2: than sixty four million to Democrats. George Soros, the Republican's supervillain,
[1:05:53] Speaker 2: didn't make the top twenty five, and those wealthy donors
[1:05:57] Speaker 2: wish The Trump administration is ed the post World War
[1:06:01] Speaker 2: II government and as prioritized tax cuts for the wealthy
[1:06:05] Speaker 2: and for corporations. Trump's government is also firing women, black
[1:06:10] Speaker 2: and brown Americans, and gender minorities from public positions and
[1:06:14] Speaker 2: working to erase them from our history. Maga Republicans have
[1:06:19] Speaker 2: fired up their base against immigrants. They claim our quote
[1:06:23] Speaker 2: invading the United States an exaggerated vision in which White
[1:06:27] Speaker 2: House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, for example, claims
[1:06:30] Speaker 2: that we were invaded and occupied. Entire neighborhoods were conquered,
[1:06:37] Speaker 2: Entire towns were subjugated, our treasury was in the plundered.
[1:06:45] Speaker 2: That wildly exaggerated vision has enabled Republicans to justify throwing
[1:06:50] Speaker 2: overboard the due process on which American rights are based.
[1:06:54] Speaker 2: On Friday, Representative Victorious Sparts, Republican Indiana told booing constitution,
[1:07:00] Speaker 2: whence you violated the rules, you are not entitled to
[1:07:04] Speaker 2: due process. In fact, in the United States, the due
[1:07:08] Speaker 2: process of law is what establishes whether someone has violated
[1:07:13] Speaker 2: the rules otherwise known as the law. Just how profoundly
[1:07:19] Speaker 2: the administration is violating civil rights came through today when
[1:07:23] Speaker 2: news broke of an Alien Enemies Act Validation guide obtained
[1:07:29] Speaker 2: by the American Civil Liberties Union the ACLU. The guide
[1:07:34] Speaker 2: lays out a point system by which officials from Immigration
[1:07:37] Speaker 2: and Customs Enforcement to ICE can determine if an immigrant
[1:07:41] Speaker 2: is eligible for rendition to the Terrorism Confinement Center in
[1:07:48] Speaker 2: El Salvador. The guide tags people as members of the
[1:07:53] Speaker 2: Venezuelan Trende de Arragua gang if they reach eight points
[1:08:01] Speaker 2: on a point system in which officers determine what seems
[1:08:04] Speaker 2: to them a gang tattoo or a gang sign, or
[1:08:08] Speaker 2: interact with those ICE says our gang members. Aaron reichen
[1:08:15] Speaker 2: Melnick of the American Immigration Council notes that nearly all
[1:08:19] Speaker 2: of the criteria on the list are subjective, which helps
[1:08:22] Speaker 2: to explain why so many people who are apparently unaffiliated
[1:08:26] Speaker 2: with TDA were swept up in the rendition. With this checklist,
[1:08:31] Speaker 2: reichen Melnick writes, ICE can declare any Venezuelan an alien
[1:08:37] Speaker 2: enemy without any concrete evidence, based solely on an ICE
[1:08:41] Speaker 2: officer's interpretation of tattoos and hand signs, which may be
[1:08:45] Speaker 2: completely innocent or the bad luck of having a roommate
[1:08:49] Speaker 2: ICE thinks is TDA. The MAGA Republican's worldview is the
[1:08:55] Speaker 2: same as that of the Confederates who preceded them. Some
[1:08:58] Speaker 2: people are better than not have the right to rule.
[1:09:02] Speaker 2: It's no coincidence that Trump recently called for the restoration
[1:09:06] Speaker 2: of Confederate statues. But if that worldview is correct, then
[1:09:12] Speaker 2: getting rid of President Joe Biden's inclusive economy and hiring
[1:09:16] Speaker 2: practices and putting white men in charge of everything should
[1:09:20] Speaker 2: mean exactly what Trump is promising. A golden age of America. Indeed,
[1:09:26] Speaker 2: the strong economy the Biden administration created is tumbling, and
[1:09:32] Speaker 2: Trump administration officials seemed to have no plan to stop
[1:09:35] Speaker 2: it except to trust in Trump. The officers in charge
[1:09:40] Speaker 2: of keeping the nation safe have instead broken the law
[1:09:43] Speaker 2: in an epic failed demonstrating that they have no foreign
[1:09:46] Speaker 2: policy plan except military strikes highlighted with emojis. They appear
[1:09:52] Speaker 2: to disdain national security procedures, and the Signal scandal appears
[1:09:58] Speaker 2: to have just been the tibet the Iceberg. Tonight, Alexander Ward,
[1:10:02] Speaker 2: Josh Dawsey, and Meredith McGraw of The Wall Street Journal
[1:10:06] Speaker 2: reported that two US officials sold them that National Security
[1:10:11] Speaker 2: Advisor Mike Waltz quote has created and hosted multiple other
[1:10:16] Speaker 2: sensitive national security conversations on Signal with Cabinet members. When
[1:10:24] Speaker 2: the former Confederates called for cutting black men out of
[1:10:27] Speaker 2: the vote in the eighteen seventies by insisting their votes
[1:10:30] Speaker 2: would usher in socialism, Americans didn't know whether a government
[1:10:35] Speaker 2: elected by a wider range of Americans than in the
[1:10:38] Speaker 2: past would thrive. In twenty twenty five, we have experienced
[1:10:43] Speaker 2: not only eighty years of a government that created a
[1:10:46] Speaker 2: strong economy in a stable world as it worked for
[1:10:49] Speaker 2: all Americans. We have also experienced the four years recently
[1:10:54] Speaker 2: passed in which the Biden administration demonstrated that such a
[1:10:58] Speaker 2: government worked left us with a booming economy and strong
[1:11:02] Speaker 2: national security that the Trump regime is now mangling. Nonetheless,
[1:11:08] Speaker 2: Trump is digging into the position that some people are
[1:11:11] Speaker 2: better than others and have the right to rule. Today,
[1:11:15] Speaker 2: he told NBC News that he is considering a third
[1:11:19] Speaker 2: presidential term, although that is explicitly unconstitutional. I'm not joking,
[1:11:25] Speaker 2: he said. There are methods which you could do it. Okay,
[1:11:31] Speaker 2: that's the article, and she has updates all the time.

[1:11:40] Speaker 2: Really really good stuff. Thanks for listening. I'll see you

[1:11:50] Speaker 2: a little mental break from all the insanity of humanity.
[1:11:53] Speaker 2: Looking forward to that. I will see you next week.
