## Transcript

[0:01] Speaker 1: Understand the thinking atheist. It's not a person, it's a symbol,
[0:09] Speaker 1: an idea.
[0:10] Speaker 2: The population of atheists this country is going through the.
[0:13] Speaker 1: Rule, rejecting faith, pursuing knowledge, challenging the sacred. If I
[0:19] Speaker 1: tell the truth, it's because I tell the truth, not because.
[0:22] Speaker 3: I put my hand on a book and made a wish.
[0:25] Speaker 1: And working together for a more rational world.
[0:29] Speaker 3: Take the risk of thinking. Feel so much more happiness.
[0:32] Speaker 3: Truth Fusian wisdom will come to you that way.
[0:35] Speaker 1: Assume nothing, question everything, and start thinking. This is the
[0:43] Speaker 1: Thinking Atheist podcast hosted by Seth Andrews.
[0:56] Speaker 3: Whatever's on your mind. If you want to chat today,
[0:58] Speaker 3: the switchboard is Whine and I have been struggling with
[1:02] Speaker 3: sleep lately. Maybe you have as well. And it's all
[1:07] Speaker 3: about the state of the world, the state of things,
[1:10] Speaker 3: this insanity, and every day I think maybe it can't
[1:14] Speaker 3: get worse, and then I wake up and oh, look,
[1:17] Speaker 3: our troops have been deployed to a new city and
[1:19] Speaker 3: they kick somebody else's door down and zip tied. They're
[1:23] Speaker 3: five year old or whatever. You know. You know, the
[1:28] Speaker 3: president is on's the jailing of our mayors and governors
[1:32] Speaker 3: around the country. It's a war from within it's an
[1:36] Speaker 3: impending civil war. I watched the film Alex Garland's movie
[1:40] Speaker 3: from a couple of years ago, Civil War. I don't
[1:43] Speaker 3: think it was supposed to be a documentary, but if
[1:47] Speaker 3: you watch it, and the film is very clever in
[1:50] Speaker 3: the way that it doesn't assign a specific incidence, a cause,
[1:56] Speaker 3: doesn't name political parties. It is the kind of film
[1:59] Speaker 3: where it can apply across the board, and it talks
[2:04] Speaker 3: about the United States, where it is US versus them.
[2:07] Speaker 3: A lot of times you don't even know who the
[2:08] Speaker 3: enemy is. Some cities are on fire while other parts
[2:11] Speaker 3: of the country are totally peaceful, and those folks are
[2:15] Speaker 3: in denial that a civil war is even happening. They've
[2:17] Speaker 3: got their head in the sand. The normalization of terror
[2:21] Speaker 3: in this country. Civil War is a terrifying little movie,
[2:24] Speaker 3: and it kind of feels like it may be. I
[2:28] Speaker 3: don't know. I hope it never becomes an actual documentary
[2:31] Speaker 3: for this country, But we have become acclimated and I
[2:35] Speaker 3: think I cannot shut it off. Three in the morning, God,
[2:40] Speaker 3: how much, how worse, how many I just don't And
[2:44] Speaker 3: then I get up and I wander around, and then
[2:46] Speaker 3: I make the mistake of logging onto social media. Well,
[2:49] Speaker 3: that's a nightmare. So then I'm like, no, I'm gonna
[2:52] Speaker 3: go do something else. I've been watching again a movie
[2:55] Speaker 3: that chills me out, The Big Lebowski. Jeff Bridges has
[3:00] Speaker 3: been on the speaking circuit to promote the new Tron movie,
[3:04] Speaker 3: and so I was thinking of him. I kind of
[3:08] Speaker 3: was excited about Tron. Ares didn't care at all for
[3:12] Speaker 3: Tron Legacy. Thought it was a wasted opportunity, flashy, expensive.
[3:17] Speaker 3: I didn't give a shit. I just didn't care, which
[3:20] Speaker 3: is a huge problem with big effects, blockbuster type films, Right,
[3:25] Speaker 3: you don't care. How often are we like, Wow, that
[3:27] Speaker 3: was expensive, that's big I don't give a shit. That's
[3:30] Speaker 3: exactly how I felt about Tron Legacy. The only good
[3:33] Speaker 3: thing about that film, over the effects, was the soundtrack
[3:37] Speaker 3: by Daft Punk, which is legendary and I have it
[3:40] Speaker 3: in my car. I'm driving along all the time. All
[3:45] Speaker 3: the time, I'm listening to that, and they say the soundtrack,
[3:48] Speaker 3: who did the new one? Is at nine inch Nails
[3:51] Speaker 3: did the soundtrack for the new But they're saying the
[3:52] Speaker 3: film is not good empty calories. And Jeff Bridges is
[3:59] Speaker 3: out there and he did this thing on Jimmy Fallon,
[4:03] Speaker 3: where Jimmy was like, look, I want you to give
[4:06] Speaker 3: some advice to the world in character as the dude
[4:10] Speaker 3: from Big Lebowski. And so he puts on the dude's
[4:12] Speaker 3: sweater and he's got the sunglasses, and they bring him
[4:15] Speaker 3: out his favorite drink, which is a white Russian. He's
[4:17] Speaker 3: sitting there going, hey, man, we just need to dial
[4:20] Speaker 3: it down. Man, we need to just we're at the nine.
[4:24] Speaker 3: We need to go down to like a half. Everybody
[4:27] Speaker 3: just needs to abide with each other. I think one
[4:30] Speaker 3: of his great lines was we need to make sure
[4:34] Speaker 3: that ice is only in our glasses, all right, we
[4:37] Speaker 3: need to get rid of ice out there. We need
[4:39] Speaker 3: to put ice in our glasses. And there was that
[4:40] Speaker 3: kind of thing. And having seen The Big Lebowski thirty times,
[4:44] Speaker 3: I'm smiling ear to ear. So I told Natalie, you
[4:46] Speaker 3: know what would help me with my zen? I need
[4:49] Speaker 3: a Big Lebowski sweater. And she's just staring at me.
[4:54] Speaker 3: What are you talking about? No, no, no, it's the
[4:56] Speaker 3: Big Lebowski sweater. And these things are for sale. There
[5:00] Speaker 3: are knockoffs, and I guess there's a name brand that's
[5:02] Speaker 3: really expensive that nobody really needs, but you can find
[5:06] Speaker 3: the dude's sweater. I'm a dudast priest. I am registered
[5:12] Speaker 3: as an officiant. I could conduct weddings if I wanted,
[5:16] Speaker 3: as clergy with the Church of the Latter Day Dude,
[5:20] Speaker 3: which is a registered religion. Okay, I'm a dude. I'm
[5:25] Speaker 3: a dudist priest. The problem is, I've been having a
[5:28] Speaker 3: hard time abiding, keeping my mind limber, as he says
[5:32] Speaker 3: in the movie, because of all the shit that's going on.
[5:35] Speaker 3: So I've been browsing and I'm about to send Natalie
[5:38] Speaker 3: a link and go Okay, when Christmas gets here, for
[5:45] Speaker 3: forty six dollars, I would like a sweater from the
[5:50] Speaker 3: Big Labowski. I just saying. I'm just saying, FYI. This
[5:57] Speaker 3: weekend Sacramento, California, I'm going to be part of a
[6:01] Speaker 3: lineup on the capital steps for California Free Thought Day.
[6:05] Speaker 3: If you are anywhere near that region. Freethought Day dot
[6:10] Speaker 3: org has all the details that you need. Next week,
[6:15] Speaker 3: ghost Stories releases an annual tradition. Always excited to see
[6:20] Speaker 3: that sucker go out. I'm a little pissed right now.
[6:25] Speaker 3: I log on to YouTube. I'm just going to gripe
[6:29] Speaker 3: a little bit. I do not understand a culture where
[6:34] Speaker 3: YouTube decides that is something that pushes anybody's button or
[6:40] Speaker 3: steps a toe over this subjectively drawn line where something
[6:44] Speaker 3: is too controversial. Then they say, oh, we're you are
[6:49] Speaker 3: now not in violation because they don't drop or delete
[6:53] Speaker 3: the video, but they say you have disqualified yourself from
[6:57] Speaker 3: monetizing the video. Now, for those who are not aware,
[7:01] Speaker 3: those little ads that are usually a pain in the ass,
[7:05] Speaker 3: I'll admit the ones you click and skip ad Those
[7:09] Speaker 3: who don't use ad blockers probably realize that you are
[7:14] Speaker 3: actually helping people who post online to monetize what they do.
[7:18] Speaker 3: Which is the one of the reasons I'm able to
[7:20] Speaker 3: be a full time activist is because the advertisers that
[7:24] Speaker 3: Spreaker assigns to my podcast and the ads that are
[7:29] Speaker 3: assigned by Google to the YouTube videos that I release,
[7:34] Speaker 3: these produce revenue, and they're part of the streams that
[7:37] Speaker 3: feed the river. They allow me to pay the bills, right,
[7:41] Speaker 3: and it is our hope that the videos that are
[7:45] Speaker 3: more popular. You know, I can spend weeks on the
[7:50] Speaker 3: Brown Mansion ghost hunt video. I can spend weeks on it,
[7:54] Speaker 3: and I did it just took it took a long time.
[7:58] Speaker 3: It was a labor of love. Five views, that's just
[8:02] Speaker 3: how it goes. I know I'm not going to make anything.
[8:05] Speaker 3: I lost money on that sucker. Okay, fine, but I
[8:08] Speaker 3: interviewed Dave Farina, the science educator, and that thing's got
[8:13] Speaker 3: I think we're up to seventy eighty thousand views. We'll
[8:15] Speaker 3: all take that. And he talks about everything from OURFKA
[8:20] Speaker 3: Junior to Joe Rogan to Bill Maher, etc. And I
[8:24] Speaker 3: titled the video the Scumbags I've debunked because Farina, he
[8:31] Speaker 3: doesn't hold back and he calls these people's scumbags, et cetera. Right,
[8:35] Speaker 3: So I put it in the title. I get a
[8:37] Speaker 3: message in email notice from YouTube. Your video has been
[8:42] Speaker 3: demonetized due to a violation of our advertising guidelines, etc.
[8:48] Speaker 3: So they just yanked every freaking piece of revenue. I'm
[8:50] Speaker 3: going to get off that for what for? What for
[8:53] Speaker 3: the word scumbags? Are you shitting me? Like in the
[8:57] Speaker 3: arena of ideas, we have come to a point where
[9:01] Speaker 3: YouTube etc. Are thinking in reverse of how they should think.
[9:06] Speaker 3: And I'm just gonna throw it out here, all right,
[9:09] Speaker 3: because we've seen clickbaters left and right who have successfully
[9:13] Speaker 3: somehow worked the system. But I would think the more
[9:16] Speaker 3: controversial your title and the more extreme your content, and
[9:21] Speaker 3: the more provocative your video thumbnail is, the more people
[9:25] Speaker 3: click on it, and the more the advertiser gets exposed
[9:30] Speaker 3: to a potential audience, which means everybody wins. Google makes
[9:35] Speaker 3: money as if they need more, and the content creators
[9:39] Speaker 3: get money. We see people all the time who know
[9:42] Speaker 3: somehow how to work this system without getting tagged. Somebody
[9:46] Speaker 3: teach me that they can have a nothing video and
[9:50] Speaker 3: they know how to do a specific tag title thumbnail
[9:54] Speaker 3: and it gets a squillion views and somebody gets paid. Meanwhile,
[9:59] Speaker 3: I'm talking do a science communic cat about issues of
[10:04] Speaker 3: the day like vaccines and YouTube says you have crossed
[10:11] Speaker 3: the line. Our advertisers would want nothing to do with you.
[10:15] Speaker 3: Pull the plug, just I swear to you. Just irritates me,
[10:23] Speaker 3: irritates me, and then I'm having this conversation about what's
[10:27] Speaker 3: going to happen to content creators that this administration is
[10:31] Speaker 3: now deeming anti Christian and anti American, and they do
[10:35] Speaker 3: blend those things together. I saw an article in the
[10:39] Speaker 3: week that was published about God and country nationalism, that's
[10:44] Speaker 3: going on. This is not news to you. We've been
[10:46] Speaker 3: talking about it for years. I'm not going to beat
[10:48] Speaker 3: that dead horse, but I am talking about after Fallon
[10:51] Speaker 3: was dropped, I canceled Disney. I don't know if it
[10:55] Speaker 3: makes any difference. I don't need Disney, you know, I'm saying,
[10:59] Speaker 3: I'm hissed at Disney. Few spineless cockroaches is what the
[11:05] Speaker 3: hell is wrong with? What's the matter with these people?
[11:09] Speaker 3: And I have noticed I'm not going to go back
[11:10] Speaker 3: and resubscribe since Fallon was brought back in because I
[11:14] Speaker 3: think you you don't deserve me. And it doesn't make
[11:18] Speaker 3: any difference now, but it maybe makes me feel better. Colbert,
[11:22] Speaker 3: you know, they cancel his show, right, And we see
[11:27] Speaker 3: now this targeting of dissents, people who dare to come
[11:33] Speaker 3: forward and say, we're not a Christian nation. I'm not
[11:36] Speaker 3: even a Christian. Maybe we're not just citizens within the
[11:39] Speaker 3: subjectively drawn borders, but maybe we're citizens of the world
[11:43] Speaker 3: and we should not be shitty to each other. By
[11:45] Speaker 3: the way, I resist authoritarian dictator tyrant s grifter kings.
[11:50] Speaker 3: I would just like that on the record. So then
[11:52] Speaker 3: Donald Trump says, okay, there is now a war on
[11:55] Speaker 3: Christianity hashtag religious liberty. And then we begin at the
[12:00] Speaker 3: top the cancelation. We're seeing it happening in all these
[12:04] Speaker 3: strict requirements that are going on in universities. We're seeing
[12:08] Speaker 3: it happen in the media. We know the billionaires and
[12:10] Speaker 3: squillionaires out there, they're not going to act in our interests.
[12:13] Speaker 3: They're going to act in their own interests. These elite brolagarchs,
[12:18] Speaker 3: they're going to decide that acts and Facebook, etc. Are
[12:21] Speaker 3: going to serve whatever end they want. Talk about too
[12:24] Speaker 3: much power, and it's true Elon musket X could decide, Okay,
[12:30] Speaker 3: I would like to get in the good graces of
[12:33] Speaker 3: the founding fondler, Donald Trump. Here's what I'm going to do.
[12:38] Speaker 3: I'm going to do an algorithm that finds everything that
[12:42] Speaker 3: can be deemed anti Christian, which might be hate speech,
[12:47] Speaker 3: which could be called an incitement to violence, which according
[12:51] Speaker 3: to Stephen Miller, would equate to domestic terrorism, and then
[12:56] Speaker 3: pull the plug. Your account's gone. Every chance to get
[13:00] Speaker 3: your message out is gone. Any chance to monetize anything
[13:03] Speaker 3: you do is gone. Right, or they can just shadow
[13:06] Speaker 3: ban you. They can use the algorithms to make sure
[13:09] Speaker 3: you're there. You just don't get seen Zuckerberg. Don't tell
[13:13] Speaker 3: me that guy's got a moral compass. He's up in
[13:17] Speaker 3: the cabinet room at the White House with his head
[13:19] Speaker 3: so far up Donald Trump's ass. He could check for cavities.
[13:24] Speaker 3: You think he's going to operate in our interests. No,
[13:27] Speaker 3: he's gonna operate in his own. And if he wants
[13:30] Speaker 3: special favors, if he wants to maneuver himself in a
[13:33] Speaker 3: specific way by playing to this whole war on Christianity,
[13:37] Speaker 3: the anti Christians out there, the domestic terrorist, liberal democratic left,
[13:42] Speaker 3: progressive woke people out there, if he wants to do that,
[13:46] Speaker 3: he can then say, okay, fine, I'm going to either
[13:50] Speaker 3: shadow ban all of these atheist channels, any channel that's
[13:53] Speaker 3: not a Christian nationalist advocate channel, or I'm gonna call
[13:58] Speaker 3: him hate speech and dump them. Elon could welcome Alex
[14:03] Speaker 3: Jones back, Yay free speech. But he might turn around
[14:07] Speaker 3: then and say, ah, you know anybody who runs an
[14:10] Speaker 3: atheist channel by your gaunt, And he would have the
[14:13] Speaker 3: power to do that. He's got to what is his
[14:16] Speaker 3: new net worth number, five hundred billion dollars. It's obscene.
[14:22] Speaker 3: Somebody could be a wealth hoarder like that, a power
[14:25] Speaker 3: hoarder in a world with this much suffering, and you
[14:28] Speaker 3: and I are dangling on the string. What in the
[14:30] Speaker 3: world is the number of media companies that own I
[14:34] Speaker 3: think the top six that there are six companies that
[14:40] Speaker 3: own ninety percent of all the media. There are six
[14:46] Speaker 3: companies that own it. I remember back when I was
[14:51] Speaker 3: doing FM radio. This was actually before I got in
[14:54] Speaker 3: in ninety This was during the eighties. Reagan he was
[14:57] Speaker 3: in power, and he went in deregular the broadcasting industry.
[15:02] Speaker 3: All right, He's like, there's too much governmental interference, free market, right,
[15:07] Speaker 3: So he went in and he said, here's what we're
[15:09] Speaker 3: going to do. We're going to deregulate it so anybody
[15:11] Speaker 3: can play. It's going to be amazing. These people can
[15:15] Speaker 3: be what they want to be, and they can start
[15:17] Speaker 3: their own stations, and it's going to be a democratization
[15:19] Speaker 3: of the entire process. And you know what happened. Five
[15:22] Speaker 3: seconds after he deregulated, a few billionaire companies said, whoo,
[15:27] Speaker 3: the rules are now gone. They went in and sucked
[15:31] Speaker 3: up all the properties. They just vacuumed up the industry.
[15:36] Speaker 3: They controlled the flow of information, they control in many ways,
[15:40] Speaker 3: who's out there, who can be seen and heard in
[15:42] Speaker 3: some cases what can be said and what cannot be said?
[15:46] Speaker 3: And I'm looking at this going you know, the game
[15:49] Speaker 3: has changed for people like me. What in the world
[15:52] Speaker 3: happens if they decide, uh, oh, hate speech? Do I
[15:57] Speaker 3: have anti Christian bias? May be, but I would like
[16:01] Speaker 3: to say, actually, more, it's that I have seen Christianity
[16:05] Speaker 3: from the inside out. I know it's a debunked and
[16:08] Speaker 3: often harmful mythology and nothing is sacred in the arena
[16:12] Speaker 3: of ideas. A free speech culture allows and even welcomes
[16:18] Speaker 3: my voice to be able to say this is a
[16:21] Speaker 3: steamy bile of grap and people should reject it because
[16:25] Speaker 3: it's simply untrue and there's some really problematic stuff attached
[16:30] Speaker 3: to it. Is that anti Christian bias? Or am I
[16:34] Speaker 3: an opponent of at least fundamental Christianity? Because I understand
[16:38] Speaker 3: what the hell it is and how it works. That's
[16:41] Speaker 3: not bias, is it? I don't think it's bias? And
[16:49] Speaker 3: then how do we get past the oligarchs? But Heather
[16:53] Speaker 3: Cox Richardson calls the Brola garchs. How do we get
[16:56] Speaker 3: past them? To get the word outs. I know a
[17:01] Speaker 3: lot of people who are in journalism have sort of
[17:04] Speaker 3: split off to substack. Is substack going to be a
[17:07] Speaker 3: part of that? I mean, I don't know. Do are
[17:10] Speaker 3: we going to change the world on substack? I've got
[17:12] Speaker 3: an article that's been useful, or a channel with articles
[17:16] Speaker 3: a page rather But let's say they just decide YouTube
[17:23] Speaker 3: x Facebook under this new regime, the Gestapo, the American Gestapo, whatever,
[17:29] Speaker 3: they show up, and even if they don't throw us
[17:32] Speaker 3: into the back of a van, they decide, all right, fine,
[17:35] Speaker 3: we are going to remove your voice, your online voice,
[17:38] Speaker 3: and the ability to do what you do with any effectiveness.
[17:42] Speaker 3: Then what happens Natalie and I had that conversation, Holy shit,
[17:48] Speaker 3: Do we then deplete our savings to survive while we
[17:52] Speaker 3: put the house on the market and try to find
[17:54] Speaker 3: a place to live? And what else is going to happen?
[17:58] Speaker 3: And what happens if I do I I re enter
[18:01] Speaker 3: the workplace as a producer. Again, what happens with if
[18:06] Speaker 3: a potential employer googles my name? Do they want that
[18:10] Speaker 3: attached to a new employee? Maybe not in this state?
[18:14] Speaker 3: Probably So then can you afford to live somewhere else?
[18:17] Speaker 2: Well?
[18:17] Speaker 3: I We've looked elsewhere, and every time we go to
[18:21] Speaker 3: some place that's bluer or prettier, the price doubles are dribbles.
[18:26] Speaker 3: I will say this for Oklahoma, it's got a pretty
[18:29] Speaker 3: good cost of living. We get overwhelmed like what if,
[18:35] Speaker 3: what if, and then we think, no, it'll never happen,
[18:38] Speaker 3: It'll never happen. Well, we're going to be fine. I
[18:42] Speaker 3: would be grieved by the opportunity not having the opportunity
[18:45] Speaker 3: to be able to do what I love and what
[18:47] Speaker 3: I'm passionate about full time. I was part of a survey.
[18:53] Speaker 3: Oh gosh, years ago, there was a university survey about
[18:57] Speaker 3: atheists in the online space. One of the questions was,
[19:01] Speaker 3: and I hear this from apologist, well don't you take
[19:05] Speaker 3: money for what you do? As if somehow that's what
[19:11] Speaker 3: that nullifies the things that are being said. And I'm like, well,
[19:16] Speaker 3: you know, full time musicians love music, they make music.
[19:21] Speaker 3: They want to change the world through music. The goal
[19:24] Speaker 3: is to see them be able to do music full
[19:27] Speaker 3: time as an artist. We see this with painters. An
[19:30] Speaker 3: author writes a book and the marketplaces we would like
[19:33] Speaker 3: to read what's in that book, and it becomes popular
[19:36] Speaker 3: enough for them to be able to be a full
[19:38] Speaker 3: time author. That's the goal, that's the dream. Does that
[19:41] Speaker 3: mean the authors and the artist and the musicians? What
[19:44] Speaker 3: about pastors? Jesus, pastors on stage don't have to hear
[19:48] Speaker 3: this bullshit. Ah, you're a pastor who receives a salary. Hmm,
[19:53] Speaker 3: you must be a sellout? Do you hear that in
[19:55] Speaker 3: this country?
[19:56] Speaker 2: No?
[19:56] Speaker 3: You hear wow? Wow, he's a full time pastor. He's
[19:59] Speaker 3: able to to commit himself to what he truly believed in.
[20:02] Speaker 3: That's wonderful. That's wonderful. He's meeting a need, providing a service,
[20:05] Speaker 3: and he's able to speak to his own passions. Wonderful, wonderful.
[20:09] Speaker 3: I'm sorry if you're going to go after people like me,
[20:12] Speaker 3: you have just canceled out every full time or even
[20:15] Speaker 3: part time pastor on the planet. You hypocrites. God, So
[20:25] Speaker 3: what do you think about this culture that we're in?
[20:28] Speaker 3: Do you think that we are going to get you know,
[20:32] Speaker 3: we're shadow band at least the algorithms are going to
[20:36] Speaker 3: just go push us out of the picture and must say, well,
[20:39] Speaker 3: you're not banned. We don't know what's going on. No,
[20:43] Speaker 3: we haven't manipulated anything at all, it's just maybe your
[20:48] Speaker 3: opinions aren't that popular in this Christian nation. I can
[20:54] Speaker 3: hear him say it. I can hear him say it.
[20:58] Speaker 3: I would welcome your thoughts on this and anything else
[21:03] Speaker 3: that do you want to talk about. I would like
[21:05] Speaker 3: to talk about We go to the Phones in just
[21:08] Speaker 3: a moment, hang on, Welcome to what I am advertising
[21:18] Speaker 3: as a homogenized, inoffensive, and completely vanilla podcast, which really isn't.
[21:25] Speaker 3: As we go to the phones, I've got Brett calling
[21:30] Speaker 3: out of Salt Lake City at eight oh one. Brett,
[21:32] Speaker 3: are you there?
[21:33] Speaker 2: Hey, I'm here, Seth. Can you hear me?
[21:35] Speaker 3: I can welcome what's on your mind?
[21:37] Speaker 4: Hey?
[21:38] Speaker 2: Yeah, I was just kind of interesting. I subscribe to
[21:40] Speaker 2: your podcast and I went to click on it. All
[21:45] Speaker 2: of a sudden YouTube said something to the effect of
[21:48] Speaker 2: band or direct. I don't know exactly what it says.
[21:52] Speaker 2: I just saw the phone numb brought it, but I
[21:53] Speaker 2: couldn't get the YouTube video to come up at all.
[21:56] Speaker 3: Was it on this stream, Brett or was it on
[21:58] Speaker 3: another video?
[22:00] Speaker 2: I know it was on this stream right now. I'm
[22:02] Speaker 2: actually at some Jackson owayoming at a conference, and I
[22:06] Speaker 2: saw the notification come up, so I clicked on it,
[22:10] Speaker 2: and it immediately said this video is unavailable due to
[22:14] Speaker 2: directory content or something to that effect. But then it
[22:18] Speaker 2: had your phone number down below it for calling in,
[22:20] Speaker 2: which I thought was kind of strange. So you tell
[22:24] Speaker 2: me what's going on.
[22:25] Speaker 3: Well, and watching the chat other people have been able
[22:28] Speaker 3: to get in, they're asking about parental controls. I'm not
[22:31] Speaker 3: a conspiracy theorist, so you know, I tend to take
[22:34] Speaker 3: an Okham's razor position, like, well, it could have something
[22:38] Speaker 3: to do with a browser or something else that's going on.
[22:41] Speaker 3: But if you see that again, would you screenshot the
[22:45] Speaker 3: error and shoot me an email sat at satangars dot com.
[22:48] Speaker 3: I would would like to see that.
[22:49] Speaker 2: Absolutely, absolutely, I do that. But I just thought it
[22:52] Speaker 2: was very interesting, and like you say, you know, as
[22:55] Speaker 2: a former reformed Mormon, now I was in a little
[23:00] Speaker 2: a bit longer than you were as far as religious
[23:03] Speaker 2: stuff goes. But yeah, I ended up sixty plus years
[23:06] Speaker 2: in it before I did my deconstruction in that And
[23:10] Speaker 2: just like you said, when I started looking at what
[23:12] Speaker 2: the Mormon Church or the Church of Jesus Christ, of
[23:15] Speaker 2: Latter day Saints, whatever you want to call it, their
[23:17] Speaker 2: swing towards more Christian nationalism and stuff in their publications
[23:21] Speaker 2: in that it's getting downright brightening as all get out. Yeah.
[23:26] Speaker 3: I had a friend I was talking to yesterday and
[23:29] Speaker 3: he was right, Historically, when we see extremism go where
[23:32] Speaker 3: it's going, the pendulum will eventually crash back well in
[23:37] Speaker 3: the other direction. My problem is, it very often doesn't
[23:40] Speaker 3: do that without bloodshed, without people getting hurt and killed.
[23:46] Speaker 3: Somebody storms, the bast deal kind of thing. And I'm thinking,
[23:50] Speaker 3: right now we are right there on the razor's edge.
[23:53] Speaker 3: Do I think eventually things will crash back in the
[23:56] Speaker 3: other direction? Yeah, but the damage done? And then will
[24:00] Speaker 3: we see an American Civil war in the year twenty
[24:03] Speaker 3: twenty five twenty six? I have real fears about that,
[24:06] Speaker 3: Brett Fyi. I was looking in the chat. Apparently you
[24:11] Speaker 3: might be able to clear your browser cache and it
[24:15] Speaker 3: may work. And someone else said VPNs occasionally are a
[24:18] Speaker 3: problem when you're trying to access certain videos. That's a
[24:21] Speaker 3: starting point, and then we'll watch the comments sections and
[24:24] Speaker 3: see if anything else pops up. Okay, Okay, sounds good.
[24:27] Speaker 2: Seth. Hey, keep up with everything you're doing. Man, we
[24:30] Speaker 2: need your voice very thank you. It's awesome that you're
[24:33] Speaker 2: out there doing this.
[24:34] Speaker 3: All right, Be safe on your travels. See you later, okay,
[24:37] Speaker 3: all right, all right, take care. But one thing that
[24:40] Speaker 3: I have been doing just on the side, well, I've
[24:43] Speaker 3: been asked over the years, you've heard me talk about
[24:46] Speaker 3: being a humanist wedding efficiant and that has been able
[24:50] Speaker 3: to make up for a little bit of what YouTube
[24:52] Speaker 3: is not giving me, and that's been kind of cool.
[24:55] Speaker 3: I just put a wedding efficient page on my personal website.
[25:01] Speaker 3: And there are people who they don't want a freaking
[25:04] Speaker 3: pastor to come out and conduct the wedding, and they
[25:07] Speaker 3: don't want to hire some nobody. They want somebody that
[25:10] Speaker 3: they can trust, who can throw some sentences in a
[25:13] Speaker 3: row and won't mock it up. And so they're like, hey,
[25:17] Speaker 3: would Seth come do it. I did my first wedding
[25:20] Speaker 3: I guess six five six years ago, and it was
[25:23] Speaker 3: so much fun. I'm one of those guys. Whenever I've
[25:26] Speaker 3: gone into weddings for my whole life, I've always thought
[25:30] Speaker 3: about all the things that should be done differently. Timmy
[25:34] Speaker 3: Gibson has been on this channel. He's a wedding officient.
[25:36] Speaker 3: He's an expangelical who is now doing critical videos of Christianity, etc.
[25:42] Speaker 3: And helping people on that journey along with me and
[25:45] Speaker 3: some others. And you know, we were talking about how
[25:48] Speaker 3: so many weddings are just like I sewed vanilla, these
[25:53] Speaker 3: homogenized things. The ring is a symbol and you know,
[25:56] Speaker 3: let's read out of Corinthians. Love his patient guide, Love
[26:00] Speaker 3: a budes love blah love, Love never fails. And then
[26:03] Speaker 3: there's a prayer and then Shanaiah Twain from this moment,
[26:08] Speaker 3: I have been less And then there's a unity candle
[26:12] Speaker 3: and then they kneel at the author and then there's
[26:14] Speaker 3: the same song for the intro and the outro and
[26:17] Speaker 3: there's almost no personality to it. And you've got a guy.
[26:21] Speaker 3: How many times have we talked about this with funerals?
[26:23] Speaker 3: Will the pastor co opt somebody's wedding to give a
[26:26] Speaker 3: freaking salvation message? Well, you know, God looks down upon us,
[26:30] Speaker 3: and we can have a union with Jesus if we
[26:34] Speaker 3: drop to our knees and say, Dear God, save my soul.
[26:40] Speaker 3: By the way, do you take this man? Do you
[26:42] Speaker 3: take this woman?
[26:43] Speaker 2: Right?
[26:43] Speaker 3: We see it all the time, and I would be
[26:45] Speaker 3: in the audience going, God, jeez, let me come up
[26:48] Speaker 3: and finish this. I got this. So when I was
[26:52] Speaker 3: invited to officiate my first wedding and I got registered
[26:55] Speaker 3: with the I'm also registered with the Universal Life Church,
[26:58] Speaker 3: which is not a church. It's just kind of a
[27:00] Speaker 3: blanket everything where you can get registered and recognized in
[27:04] Speaker 3: all fifty states. I went up and I was like, yeah,
[27:07] Speaker 3: I'm able to do all the shit that I wish
[27:09] Speaker 3: everybody else would do. And it wasn't an anti religious thing.
[27:12] Speaker 3: We had religious family members show up and they're giving
[27:14] Speaker 3: me the side eye. Who is this guy? Then they
[27:17] Speaker 3: google my name. Oh my god, I can't believe that
[27:20] Speaker 3: they brought this man into our wedding. What's going to happen?
[27:24] Speaker 3: You know, our daughter, our son?
[27:26] Speaker 5: What?
[27:27] Speaker 3: How have they desecrated this holy union? And then after
[27:30] Speaker 3: it's all over, the same people who were giving me
[27:33] Speaker 3: the side eye come up and they give me a
[27:34] Speaker 3: great big hug and they're like, Wow, how much fun
[27:37] Speaker 3: was that, What a wonderful message, what a wonderful ceremony. Hey,
[27:41] Speaker 3: please stay as a guest in our home. It happens
[27:44] Speaker 3: almost every time, and so I maybe do three or
[27:50] Speaker 3: four weddings a year, and I'm starting to do more
[27:55] Speaker 3: and so it's something that if you are on the
[27:58] Speaker 3: hunt for an officiant who who won't turn the altar
[28:01] Speaker 3: into a soapbox, or doesn't even use an alter, or
[28:04] Speaker 3: doesn't necessarily want to go into a church, and doesn't
[28:07] Speaker 3: jam the message with God speak and makes it about
[28:10] Speaker 3: you and has a lot of fun doing it, I'm
[28:13] Speaker 3: your guy. And so I've got a wedding page, an
[28:15] Speaker 3: efficient page on my website. It's Seth Andrews dot com.
[28:20] Speaker 3: And thanks to the folks, the couples who allowed me
[28:23] Speaker 3: to be a part of their memories, because that's really
[28:24] Speaker 3: cool for me. I look back at the photos when
[28:27] Speaker 3: they pop up on Facebook memories and we're there, and
[28:30] Speaker 3: it's just cool, you know, it's very very cool. In fact,
[28:33] Speaker 3: one of the more recent weddings I did was for
[28:36] Speaker 3: Objectively Dan, who was part of the Street Epistemology website.
[28:43] Speaker 3: Let's see who's next three to one three, I'm going
[28:46] Speaker 3: to say it's Gary. Gary. Are you there?
[28:49] Speaker 6: Yes, Yes I am.
[28:51] Speaker 3: Let's talk what's on your mind?
[28:53] Speaker 6: Well after your little rant there, I'm not sure the
[28:55] Speaker 6: same thing is. I was going to talk about the
[28:58] Speaker 6: YouTube thing, but now it just seems so small in comparison.
[29:02] Speaker 3: No, tod talk to me. What was on your mind
[29:04] Speaker 3: when you dialed in?
[29:05] Speaker 6: Well, YouTube is canceling everybody. I mean, look at it.
[29:09] Speaker 6: You can't talk like a human being on YouTube anymore.
[29:13] Speaker 6: You have to talk like a brain addled three year
[29:16] Speaker 6: old that's been hit too many times for telling the truth.
[29:20] Speaker 6: You can't use common words like deaph for example, or
[29:26] Speaker 6: gets you demonetized. It's stupid. I'm waiting for somebody with
[29:32] Speaker 6: common sense and that green stuff that's so popular to
[29:37] Speaker 6: replace it, because it needs replacing.
[29:40] Speaker 3: I have seen on social media where if you say
[29:43] Speaker 3: hot button words that they have to put a strike
[29:47] Speaker 3: through them or blur them out so that they don't
[29:51] Speaker 3: get kicked in the head by the algorithm. You know,
[29:53] Speaker 3: they don't get shadow band or they don't get deleted
[29:55] Speaker 3: outright for being inappropriate or offensive. I'm a bit worried
[30:00] Speaker 3: about this idea of us bubble wrapping the world, and
[30:05] Speaker 3: it's a fine line and it's situational. Some people are like, well,
[30:08] Speaker 3: this is just a courtesy. There are other people who
[30:10] Speaker 3: have gone through trauma, and we have to make sure
[30:12] Speaker 3: that we're not doing anything that is going to cause
[30:15] Speaker 3: anxiety to anybody who might be browsing, and to a degree,
[30:18] Speaker 3: I totally get that. I think content warnings have served us.
[30:22] Speaker 3: When I give a speech and I'm going to show
[30:24] Speaker 3: a slide, there is one I remember I showed with
[30:26] Speaker 3: someone who'd gotten a horrible burn on their body, and
[30:30] Speaker 3: before I do that, I will say, now, I'm going
[30:31] Speaker 3: to show you an intense slide. If you don't want
[30:34] Speaker 3: to look, turn your head right now, and I will
[30:36] Speaker 3: tell you when it's okay to look back. I think
[30:39] Speaker 3: content warnings are useful in a lot of ways. But
[30:43] Speaker 3: anytime when you see a healthy reaction, you will see
[30:46] Speaker 3: an overreaction. And I think we have spilled into a
[30:49] Speaker 3: point where we are bubble wrapping the world, where we
[30:53] Speaker 3: are infantilizing people all around us. And at some point,
[30:58] Speaker 3: and I know psychologists have a lot of conversations about this,
[31:01] Speaker 3: it becomes maladaptive for people who have been traumatized, who
[31:07] Speaker 3: have been through some shit. It becomes maladaptive for the
[31:11] Speaker 3: rest of the world to bend over backwards all the
[31:14] Speaker 3: time to make sure that they are not uncomfortable. It
[31:17] Speaker 3: is not necessarily my responsibility to always understand or keep
[31:22] Speaker 3: you in a place of like a mental neutral line.
[31:28] Speaker 3: At some point it becomes maladaptive. People who have been
[31:31] Speaker 3: through some shit have to adapt, have to overcome. It's
[31:35] Speaker 3: part of a healing, it's part of an overcoming and
[31:37] Speaker 3: an empowerment model. And so do I think it helps
[31:41] Speaker 3: people who have been impacted by suicide to see the
[31:44] Speaker 3: word suicide struck on a Facebook post, Well, they know
[31:49] Speaker 3: what the word is. It's not helping anybody. I think
[31:52] Speaker 3: it's almost like when you watch movies and somebody bleeps
[31:55] Speaker 3: out the swear word that everybody knows what it is.
[31:58] Speaker 3: I think at some point gotten ridiculous. And I think
[32:02] Speaker 3: YouTube qualifies. I think Facebook qualifies. A whole lot of
[32:05] Speaker 3: platforms qualify, and I would like to see an alternative
[32:09] Speaker 3: or a replacement Gary, but I don't think it's going
[32:11] Speaker 3: to happen anytime soon, do you.
[32:14] Speaker 6: Well, I'm not on Facebook. I've never been on Facebook,
[32:17] Speaker 6: and their security issues are enough to keep me off,
[32:20] Speaker 6: So yeah, I can do without Facebook. But YouTube I
[32:25] Speaker 6: spend a lot of time on. I actually pay for
[32:27] Speaker 6: the premium, so I'm not buried in ads. Get but
[32:31] Speaker 6: it is. I go by a simple principle don't be
[32:35] Speaker 6: offensive and don't be easily offended, and I find that
[32:39] Speaker 6: gets me by ninety nine percent of the world. And yes,
[32:42] Speaker 6: the insult is infantization. My mouth doesn't want to work today.
[32:46] Speaker 6: Fantilization of the Internet is getting to the point where
[32:52] Speaker 6: what the bots aren't doing, the sensors are. I run
[32:56] Speaker 6: a small forum for me and my friends. I recently
[33:00] Speaker 6: had to basically ban all bots because they were just
[33:04] Speaker 6: eating off everything. Can you bang my site again and
[33:07] Speaker 6: again and again?
[33:08] Speaker 3: Can you root them out?
[33:09] Speaker 1: Yeah?
[33:09] Speaker 6: You can? Programs, Yes, yes you can. I don't know
[33:16] Speaker 6: what your web arrangements are, obviously, but I went through
[33:19] Speaker 6: my web host and they did that. They basically said
[33:24] Speaker 6: the bots couldn't get at my website anymore. The bots
[33:27] Speaker 6: are eating the Internet. I don't think that is a
[33:31] Speaker 6: controversial statement at all. We're going to have to start
[33:34] Speaker 6: internet too for the people.
[33:36] Speaker 3: You bring me to an interesting place though, that I'm
[33:38] Speaker 3: going to talk about for just a little bit, and
[33:40] Speaker 3: I appreciate that. Gary. Was there anything else before I
[33:43] Speaker 3: move on? My friend?
[33:44] Speaker 6: Yeah, say hi to Larry the Skeleton for me.
[33:48] Speaker 3: Larry the Skeleton as part of my Halloween display. Yes,
[33:52] Speaker 3: I will. I will go out and we'll do a
[33:55] Speaker 3: bony high five, which sounds vaguely naughty. Have a wonderful day,
[34:00] Speaker 3: Gary over. We'll see later you too, all right, bye bye,
[34:04] Speaker 3: all right. So there is a theory that in the
[34:09] Speaker 3: era of deep fakes, I was reading an article that
[34:14] Speaker 3: just terrified me a few days ago, and on the
[34:18] Speaker 3: thumbnail was the image of a beautiful woman, maybe thirty,
[34:23] Speaker 3: who was not real. The face looked real, but she
[34:27] Speaker 3: was AI. She was created by AI. And the conversation
[34:33] Speaker 3: has been happening about what is going to happen in
[34:37] Speaker 3: this It's already beginning to happen when anybody anywhere can
[34:42] Speaker 3: operate without having to involve a human being because they
[34:45] Speaker 3: have an analog that looks like a human being. We
[34:48] Speaker 3: know that Hollywood is scrambling to somehow protect images and faces,
[34:53] Speaker 3: right George Clooney, Oh, he's twenty million dollars for a movie.
[34:57] Speaker 3: We can go over here. We can make an Ai
[35:00] Speaker 3: Clooney that will look and sound just like and we'll
[35:02] Speaker 3: make our own movie and pay nothing. How much protection
[35:06] Speaker 3: does George Clooney have If they make George do something
[35:11] Speaker 3: that is absolutely heinous and horrible or wrong or stupid
[35:14] Speaker 3: or whatever, and it explodes on the internet, then the
[35:18] Speaker 3: bullshit asymmetry principle kicks in because it's a whole lot
[35:22] Speaker 3: harder to debunk a lie than it is to just
[35:25] Speaker 3: lie in the first place. So that's chaos. Next, we
[35:30] Speaker 3: have revenge porn, often literal revenge porn, where if someone
[35:37] Speaker 3: decides they want to map a woman's face onto an
[35:41] Speaker 3: AI video of a woman being raped, or map her
[35:44] Speaker 3: into a porn movie, or you know, anybody male or female,
[35:47] Speaker 3: you want to map them into a porn scene and
[35:50] Speaker 3: release them doing the most I don't know, outrageous that.
[35:54] Speaker 3: Let's say they spill from straight adult entertainment into degregation
[36:00] Speaker 3: and violence and something that's just untoward inhuman but they
[36:04] Speaker 3: map somebody else's face on it. What recourse do they have?
[36:09] Speaker 3: And then another question came up in a conversation, what
[36:12] Speaker 3: about pedophiles? Some monster creates a digital face that is
[36:20] Speaker 3: not an actual child and creates child porn.
[36:25] Speaker 4: With it.
[36:28] Speaker 3: And then keeps those videos on their hard drive. The
[36:31] Speaker 3: cops break in and say you're under arrest. What is
[36:36] Speaker 3: the person arrested for? Because no actual child was exploited? Right,
[36:45] Speaker 3: what does the laws say about that? And I don't
[36:47] Speaker 3: know the answer. There may be a law that speaks
[36:50] Speaker 3: to that. But it's terrifying because then the monsters among
[36:56] Speaker 3: us can say, well, I didn't hurt anybody. There were
[36:58] Speaker 3: no actual human being involved. I just kind of made
[37:02] Speaker 3: one up from scratch. I can have my bizarre, horrible,
[37:06] Speaker 3: monstrous fantasies without hurting anyone else. How does the laws
[37:10] Speaker 3: speak to that? Oh, it's terrifying. And then with all
[37:16] Speaker 3: of this insanity going on, and the fact that we
[37:19] Speaker 3: seem to know how to abuse technology even more than
[37:22] Speaker 3: we use it, will we see colonies, communities, and cultures
[37:29] Speaker 3: splinter off that reject technology. I'm unplugging from the Internet,
[37:36] Speaker 3: I'm giving on my cell phone, I am off the grid.
[37:41] Speaker 3: I'm going to go over here. We're going to have
[37:43] Speaker 3: a I don't know, neighborhood, town, city, community, region culture
[37:50] Speaker 3: that operates beyond all of the chaotic, crazy, and many
[37:55] Speaker 3: times offensive stuff that's happening in the technological world. And
[37:58] Speaker 3: we're going to get back to being human beings. And
[38:01] Speaker 3: I hate to bring up Star Trek Insurrection because it's
[38:05] Speaker 3: not a very good movie, but one of the concepts
[38:09] Speaker 3: of the film is that the enlightened culture is the
[38:13] Speaker 3: one that said, when you replace humans with technology, you
[38:19] Speaker 3: aren't fully able to be human or you're not able
[38:22] Speaker 3: to be fully alive. Right, I think he uses the
[38:25] Speaker 3: word the man. I don't know if the Baku were
[38:27] Speaker 3: men or women or they had another name. They weren't
[38:31] Speaker 3: bajorin all right, we're going to call them men and women.
[38:33] Speaker 3: And their idea was, we're going to go We're going
[38:35] Speaker 3: to live in these la Adobe huts and we're going
[38:37] Speaker 3: to spend thirty years learning how to paint and make,
[38:40] Speaker 3: you know, make quilts and shit like that, and we're
[38:43] Speaker 3: going to enjoy the wonders of nature together and get
[38:47] Speaker 3: back to just living our lives far from the trappings
[38:51] Speaker 3: of technology. And I wonder if we're going to see
[38:55] Speaker 3: subcultures that resist the oligarchs and the algorithms and all
[39:02] Speaker 3: those things, and they're going to become little pods. And
[39:06] Speaker 3: then what happens if those pods that are by definition
[39:11] Speaker 3: not going to have resources, right, if they're not running
[39:15] Speaker 3: around trying to make a squillion dollars, if they're not
[39:17] Speaker 3: wired in, if they're not influencers a few people know
[39:20] Speaker 3: who they are and what they're doing, then are they
[39:23] Speaker 3: even more easy meat for the billionaire abusers who decide
[39:27] Speaker 3: they're going to come in and steamroll right over him.
[39:30] Speaker 3: And what does that look like? This is the reason
[39:33] Speaker 3: I need a big Lebowski dude sweater because I think
[39:37] Speaker 3: about this stuff all day at all night. You know
[39:42] Speaker 3: what I'm saying. I think about it all the time.
[39:44] Speaker 3: I cannot shut it off. I need a switch. I
[39:47] Speaker 3: need to toggle. Can I just shut it off? How
[39:50] Speaker 3: do I shut it? How do you shut it off?
[39:53] Speaker 3: How do you shut it off? I'm going to say,
[39:56] Speaker 3: Gilbert is calling in a two to one zero?
[39:59] Speaker 2: Is that right, Wilbert, Yes, sir, down here in text ass.
[40:07] Speaker 3: Welcome to the show, and my condulence is very sorry
[40:11] Speaker 3: for your loss under Greg Abbot down there. Did I
[40:15] Speaker 3: hear that Abbot was authorizing National Guard troops to go
[40:18] Speaker 3: and invade Illinois? I think I read that yesterday. That's
[40:22] Speaker 3: a joy, hot wheels.
[40:24] Speaker 4: Just make a statement. I don't know what he's trying
[40:26] Speaker 4: to do.
[40:27] Speaker 2: Well.
[40:28] Speaker 3: I'm wanting to dog Abbot for being in a wheelchair.
[40:31] Speaker 3: That's not fair, but I will dog Abbot for being
[40:34] Speaker 3: a horrible human, right, So go ahead, Gilbert, whis on.
[40:38] Speaker 4: You would like I said, I appreciate your program and
[40:42] Speaker 4: your channel. I hope you don't. They're trying to censor everybody.
[40:46] Speaker 4: I've only been an atheist since twenty nineteen. I'm sixty
[40:49] Speaker 4: four now, and like I said, we're all born atheist
[40:53] Speaker 4: and then we're programmed and this shit's thrown down our throats.
[40:57] Speaker 4: Like I remember what Lenny Bruce said back in sixty two.
[41:01] Speaker 4: If Jesus would have been crucified twenty years prior to that,
[41:04] Speaker 4: we'd all be wearing the electric chairs around our necks.
[41:08] Speaker 2: You know.
[41:08] Speaker 7: Yeah, just a thought on that.
[41:11] Speaker 4: I mean, no, I only read a bit of David
[41:13] Speaker 4: Humees or David Hume's writings, and read a lot of
[41:18] Speaker 4: voltaires like the Encyclopedia during his time. If you tell
[41:22] Speaker 4: some of these Christian butt heads they come at you
[41:26] Speaker 4: with Jesus, and you tell them when we're all born atheists,
[41:28] Speaker 4: you could see their brains hitting their foreheads at like
[41:31] Speaker 4: sixty miles an hour. Yeah, I just want to say that,
[41:35] Speaker 4: you know, go ahead.
[41:36] Speaker 3: I've heard the claim that we're all born atheists. I'm there.
[41:41] Speaker 3: I think there's more to it. Doctor John Wathi has
[41:44] Speaker 3: written a book called The Illusion of God's Presence that
[41:47] Speaker 3: talks about how there are evolutionary triggers in the brain
[41:51] Speaker 3: that can be activated externally, which will cause many people
[41:57] Speaker 3: to respond, even as adults, in an infantile way, to
[42:01] Speaker 3: a guardian authority or parental figure. And it gets His
[42:04] Speaker 3: book is super thick. But you know, do we evolve
[42:09] Speaker 3: to filling gaps in our knowledge? And do sometimes those
[42:11] Speaker 3: gaps get filled with gods? Are there tendencies that lean
[42:16] Speaker 3: people into the belief and a cosmic other out there?
[42:21] Speaker 3: You know, we're all born atheist. I understand, I agree,
[42:25] Speaker 3: but I mean, belief is messy, and I think it's
[42:27] Speaker 3: a lot of It speaks to how we have evolved.
[42:29] Speaker 3: It doesn't mean that it was rational. It just means
[42:32] Speaker 3: we were ignorant.
[42:33] Speaker 2: What was it?
[42:33] Speaker 3: Christopher Hitchins said it was religions were our first explanation
[42:37] Speaker 3: for everything. But because they were our first, they were
[42:40] Speaker 3: our worst. Right, yes, sir, all right.
[42:46] Speaker 4: Because a lot of these Christian nationalists were there, Jesus
[42:49] Speaker 4: in like one of those little pocket pouches that they
[42:52] Speaker 4: could pull out at the drop of a hat. Or
[42:55] Speaker 4: someone says, God bless you.
[42:56] Speaker 3: I don't put anything to that, God bless you have
[42:59] Speaker 3: a last day be blast. I don't chirp on that stuff.
[43:03] Speaker 3: Hey appreciate, you know, have a good day, thanks for
[43:05] Speaker 3: the thanks for the good will.
[43:07] Speaker 4: You know, no, I don't. I don't respond to it
[43:09] Speaker 4: at all. If I do, I say, go fuck yourself
[43:13] Speaker 4: with what's going down here at the border with the
[43:15] Speaker 4: you know, these Christians, they call themselves Christians, trying to
[43:18] Speaker 4: get a free country, and yet it's the Christians, the
[43:23] Speaker 4: national Christian nationalists that are persecuting them, I mean, ripping
[43:27] Speaker 4: the families apart down here in Texas, putting the killer
[43:30] Speaker 4: ducks along the border, and they're applauding the death of
[43:34] Speaker 4: people along the border and call it, like Dylan said,
[43:38] Speaker 4: God on our side, you know.
[43:40] Speaker 3: And it's definitely a culture of cruelty, Gilbert, it definitely is.
[43:44] Speaker 3: I agree with that. I'm going to move on to
[43:45] Speaker 3: my next call, though, and I appreciate you very much.
[43:48] Speaker 3: You'd be safe down there south of US. Okay, here
[43:50] Speaker 3: we go, all right, We'll see you later. Dale at
[43:54] Speaker 3: eight five eight. You've been very patient, are you there?
[43:58] Speaker 3: I am, let's talk puts on your mind.
[44:00] Speaker 6: Awesome.
[44:01] Speaker 5: But first I wanted to say thank you. My name
[44:02] Speaker 5: is Dale, by the way, and I just wanted to
[44:04] Speaker 5: say thank you your book. I come out of the
[44:07] Speaker 5: Midwest and had a long struggle with a Southern Baptists
[44:13] Speaker 5: bringing up and it was very intense. I like to
[44:16] Speaker 5: equate it as the isis of Christianity if we step
[44:19] Speaker 5: around and look at what everything is your efforts and
[44:22] Speaker 5: I happen to notice in the chat I saw Matt
[44:24] Speaker 5: Deyla Hunt's name come out. And I appreciate the work
[44:27] Speaker 5: you all are doing because you provide a stability and
[44:30] Speaker 5: a place where people can hear honesty and clarity. One
[44:34] Speaker 5: of the things I really enjoyed so much about listening
[44:36] Speaker 5: to you this morning was to hear your voice shape
[44:38] Speaker 5: because you are exasperated and I think about these things
[44:42] Speaker 5: all the way too, or all the time too. I
[44:45] Speaker 5: can't shut it off. And what I found was that
[44:48] Speaker 5: I did have to step away from the constant wheel
[44:51] Speaker 5: turning of going through YouTube. I have no social media,
[44:54] Speaker 5: I have no TV, so I get less poison from
[44:58] Speaker 5: these click ins. But I do have a YouTube, and
[45:00] Speaker 5: I go through it and I use it as a
[45:02] Speaker 5: way to express myself. But throughout my life, you Christopher Hitchings,
[45:06] Speaker 5: the various representatives that are actually the voice of a reason.
[45:10] Speaker 5: I'm very happy that you found me, and I actually
[45:13] Speaker 5: have to say saved me from the situation I was
[45:16] Speaker 5: in with religion and I'm dealing with a lot of
[45:18] Speaker 5: things that happened, and it is the religious version of
[45:23] Speaker 5: the Taliman and the isis it's just on the other
[45:25] Speaker 5: side of the river. With so many things that are
[45:28] Speaker 5: going on right now. I'd like to say, even with
[45:30] Speaker 5: the technology, it's a new frontier and we have to
[45:33] Speaker 5: understand that. Yes, it's nice to be terrified of the
[45:35] Speaker 5: new frontier, but humans and their evolution, there's going to
[45:38] Speaker 5: be casualties. From the first time we ate the Berrier
[45:40] Speaker 5: hate give it to Mike, let him even if he
[45:42] Speaker 5: passes out. There, ain't that berry. We have to experiment
[45:46] Speaker 5: and play. Yes, it's dangerous, and you brought up some
[45:48] Speaker 5: very good points about technology. I also wanted to bring
[45:51] Speaker 5: up a transitional thing. I am so happy in a
[45:53] Speaker 5: way that I'm able to live in a generation where
[45:56] Speaker 5: we can watch a certain way and a certain approach
[45:59] Speaker 5: to life. And I'm going to say those are born
[46:02] Speaker 5: prior to We're around nineteen sixty five. That way of
[46:06] Speaker 5: life and this ideology is becoming history and we are
[46:09] Speaker 5: watching the last of this. We are actually watching the
[46:12] Speaker 5: eighties die right now, which is beneficial and encouraging to
[46:15] Speaker 5: us because the people sitting in the middle of this
[46:17] Speaker 5: have to take our children, who if you've noticed, our
[46:19] Speaker 5: children has been protected by us because we know how
[46:22] Speaker 5: crappy our braking up was, so we're trying to protect
[46:25] Speaker 5: our children, and now we overprotected them and they're playing
[46:27] Speaker 5: with new technology where we're coming out of the day
[46:30] Speaker 5: we could not talk to each other.
[46:31] Speaker 2: I'm talking into a box.
[46:33] Speaker 5: This is Star Trek to me a cell phone. This
[46:35] Speaker 5: I remember the first time I sent a text. So
[46:38] Speaker 5: we have to realize we are children playing with toys
[46:40] Speaker 5: that are so much beyond our capabilities and our understandings.
[46:44] Speaker 5: At the moment, the only way we can learn is
[46:46] Speaker 5: to push the envelope. I'm not happy with what's happening
[46:49] Speaker 5: in the United States. I've had to tell my foreign
[46:51] Speaker 5: born wife and my mixed song, you guys have to
[46:55] Speaker 5: be careful. This place is dangerous. And they didn't believe
[46:59] Speaker 5: me until they have gone here. And it's so unfortunate
[47:02] Speaker 5: that I watched our country in a figurative manner switch
[47:06] Speaker 5: from twenty twenty five to nineteen thirty six. It just
[47:10] Speaker 5: is so crystal clear as we watch through all of
[47:14] Speaker 5: our generations though, and the way you said, how do
[47:16] Speaker 5: you get through it every day? Well, it's terrifying one
[47:19] Speaker 5: as an atheist that reality and annoying that I don't
[47:22] Speaker 5: have anything after I'm done here. Everything I do, whether
[47:26] Speaker 5: it's good or bad, has to be done on this life.
[47:29] Speaker 5: Just like Carl Sagan said, everything humanity was as was
[47:33] Speaker 5: on this pale blue dot. And when you think about
[47:36] Speaker 5: how small we are and how violent the individual feels
[47:40] Speaker 5: inside us opposed to how small we are in the
[47:41] Speaker 5: big universe, we all need to really kind of chill
[47:43] Speaker 5: out and say, hey, our next step because we are
[47:46] Speaker 5: all going to have to get off this rock eventually,
[47:48] Speaker 5: and we're going to poison it. People are like a cancer,
[47:50] Speaker 5: a virus on this place, So eventually we're going to
[47:53] Speaker 5: have to go somewhere else. If we don't figure it out,
[47:55] Speaker 5: then we're going to end up having another group of
[47:57] Speaker 5: life dig us out of the ground like we are
[47:59] Speaker 5: doing the dynast source. And in the meantime, other people
[48:03] Speaker 5: like you and Christopher Hitchin, Matt Dyllan, Honey, Aaron Row.
[48:07] Speaker 5: I mean, I'm going through a list of people that
[48:09] Speaker 5: have been so important in my life and in what
[48:12] Speaker 5: you're doing. I can't see it took me two weeks
[48:14] Speaker 5: to make this phone call. I happened to see your
[48:16] Speaker 5: number of weeks ago, and I didn't have the strength
[48:17] Speaker 5: to do it, but to see you sitting there as
[48:19] Speaker 5: I owe this man, thank you for what he did.
[48:21] Speaker 5: And I want you to let you know every single
[48:24] Speaker 5: day when I come out and I hear the voice
[48:25] Speaker 5: of reason from you gentlemen and you ladies out there
[48:28] Speaker 5: who don't believe in fairy tales and fantasies, I appreciate
[48:32] Speaker 5: it all across the country, all across the world, because
[48:34] Speaker 5: we have to take our moral compass, which comes from
[48:37] Speaker 5: nowhere but within ourselves and our conscience, and we have
[48:40] Speaker 5: to take that moral compass and the strength of who
[48:41] Speaker 5: we are as a generation and say, this is where
[48:44] Speaker 5: we can have a community. This is where brother, you're
[48:46] Speaker 5: a brother, Sister you're a sister. I don't care what
[48:48] Speaker 5: color you I don't care where do you put your genial.
[48:50] Speaker 5: I don't care what you do is as long as
[48:51] Speaker 5: you do it legally. Unfortunately, we have leaders in a
[48:54] Speaker 5: system right now that have problems with that. There are
[48:57] Speaker 5: moral compasses off and thank goodness for conscience, because I
[49:01] Speaker 5: think we've lost our conscience. Seth thank you for letting
[49:04] Speaker 5: me ramble and go on. I hope I didn't waste
[49:06] Speaker 5: your time.
[49:06] Speaker 3: No, I'm just sitting back here, just soaking it in Dale.
[49:09] Speaker 3: You're very kind. Thanks for the generous words, and be
[49:13] Speaker 3: safe and we'll talk again, okay, my friend, Yes, sir,
[49:16] Speaker 3: Thanks all right, take care. Always get a little squirmy
[49:20] Speaker 3: when I hear my name in the same sentence as Hitchins.
[49:23] Speaker 3: It's not hero worship. I just know Hitchins was an encyclopedia.
[49:29] Speaker 3: It was just amazing. I still go back and watch
[49:32] Speaker 3: hitches older video well, and I mean they're all older videos.
[49:36] Speaker 3: We lost him, I think in twenty eleven, but you know,
[49:39] Speaker 3: his debates and his speeches and his presentations and they
[49:42] Speaker 3: still inspire me and inform me. But his recall and
[49:48] Speaker 3: then his ability to be able to even if I
[49:51] Speaker 3: you know, I didn't always agree with hitch We split
[49:54] Speaker 3: on the Iraq War and some other things, but overall,
[49:58] Speaker 3: I think this guy was an in intellectual giant. And
[50:01] Speaker 3: I don't think that's it's not hero worship. It's just
[50:05] Speaker 3: holy shit. He was something very special. So I don't
[50:08] Speaker 3: like hearing my name and I mean I'm thankful. I'm
[50:11] Speaker 3: grateful to you know what I'm saying. I'm just a
[50:14] Speaker 3: guy didn't graduate from Oxford, didn't rite for Vanity Fair.
[50:20] Speaker 3: I don't have a Wikipedia in my brain for cultural, social, historical,
[50:25] Speaker 3: and religious references far and wide. I'm not as funny
[50:29] Speaker 3: as him, you know what I'm saying, But I remain
[50:34] Speaker 3: a fan. More to talk about than plenty more calls.
[50:39] Speaker 3: We continue next. Been talking about all the free thought
[50:47] Speaker 3: events on the horizon. I mentioned California. I'm also going
[50:51] Speaker 3: to be speaking in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Denver, Colorado
[50:55] Speaker 3: coming up in the next weeks. Details at Seth Andrews.
[51:04] Speaker 3: Let's see, Joe is dialing in from two zero one, Pennsylvania.
[51:08] Speaker 3: Is that right, Joe, Yeah, that's right. Welcome, what's on
[51:12] Speaker 3: your mind?
[51:14] Speaker 2: Thank you.
[51:15] Speaker 8: I called it a little late, but I've been wanting
[51:19] Speaker 8: to get on your show and say hello to you
[51:21] Speaker 8: and thank you so much for maybe a couple of
[51:25] Speaker 8: maybe about two years now. But when you were talking
[51:28] Speaker 8: about deep fakes, and we're talking about obviously like the
[51:31] Speaker 8: blackmail type of stuff where you put someone's face on
[51:35] Speaker 8: something and had the words come out, that the scariest
[51:38] Speaker 8: part to me is, you know, you take a political
[51:42] Speaker 8: leader and if it's done well enough, if it suits
[51:46] Speaker 8: your aims, whether you're Donald Trump or some other right
[51:49] Speaker 8: wing people, and you have maybe a deep fake type
[51:53] Speaker 8: of comment from Vladimir Putin or something like that talking
[51:56] Speaker 8: about announcing it an attack, you know, something similar like that,
[52:00] Speaker 8: people are going to fall for that stuff, and then
[52:03] Speaker 8: it kind of gives you that like almost like that
[52:05] Speaker 8: false flag kind of reason to attack, you know. So
[52:09] Speaker 8: that kind of thing bothers me and your topic title
[52:13] Speaker 8: here I can see on YouTube is will lead YouTube
[52:16] Speaker 8: cancel atheists, And I think that's that's just down the line,
[52:20] Speaker 8: you know, And I worry about people like you, and
[52:24] Speaker 8: I happen to work for a pretty liberal television network.
[52:29] Speaker 8: I won't say it to expose, but yeah, I'm waiting
[52:33] Speaker 8: for some digit doors to be locked up and be
[52:37] Speaker 8: out of work. And I'll keep it short. There's one
[52:41] Speaker 8: burning question I have for you, because first of all,
[52:44] Speaker 8: I love your show open what it's evolved to, and
[52:47] Speaker 8: it has been for a while, and you probably can't
[52:50] Speaker 8: disclose a name, but I'm so curious about the woman
[52:54] Speaker 8: who says I tell the truth, because I tell the truth,
[52:58] Speaker 8: I just love the way she says that, And I
[53:01] Speaker 8: was just curious, like where you pulled that from, and
[53:04] Speaker 8: is it a personal experience.
[53:05] Speaker 3: Or that's from a Find It comedy stand up from
[53:08] Speaker 3: Sarah Silverman, who is an atheist who, in her inimitable style,
[53:14] Speaker 3: goes after religion. And I can't remember off the top
[53:18] Speaker 3: of my head the comedy special, but she was essentially saying,
[53:23] Speaker 3: I tell the truth. Because I tell the truth, I
[53:26] Speaker 3: don't need a book, write a magic book to tell
[53:28] Speaker 3: me to do it. And I just liked the line
[53:30] Speaker 3: and so I grabbed it and stuck it in the
[53:32] Speaker 3: show in Truth. But that is Sarah Silverman. I encourage
[53:35] Speaker 3: you to look up some of her commentary on it.
[53:38] Speaker 8: Yeah, I had, I did not recognize a voice, and
[53:40] Speaker 8: I just love the way she punctuates that. It's just awesome.
[53:45] Speaker 3: Well, Joe, I appreciate you. I think you and I
[53:47] Speaker 3: are watching the world.
[53:49] Speaker 2: We like it.
[53:49] Speaker 3: What's that line from Ian Malcolm in Jurassic Park? Right,
[53:53] Speaker 3: humans like to say, just because we could do something,
[53:56] Speaker 3: we don't stop to ask if we should. And I
[53:59] Speaker 3: think that may be one of the defining things about
[54:01] Speaker 3: human nature. We like to move super fast without considering
[54:05] Speaker 3: or caring about the consequences, or I don't know, maybe
[54:08] Speaker 3: we want the consequences. Maybe some people are excited about
[54:12] Speaker 3: this wild new world.
[54:14] Speaker 8: Maybe like kind of like watching a train wreck, you know.
[54:17] Speaker 3: I mean, technology is going to bring us ais bring.
[54:20] Speaker 3: It brought us some amazing stuff. I don't want to
[54:23] Speaker 3: be that guy. I'm just saying that we tend to
[54:26] Speaker 3: the downside. I warry is going to outweigh the upside.
[54:29] Speaker 3: And I don't think that makes me a stick in
[54:31] Speaker 3: the mud. And this is not like the invention of
[54:34] Speaker 3: the internet. This is something else. This is the ability
[54:38] Speaker 3: to lie in a very specific way that is going
[54:42] Speaker 3: to create mass chaos and is going to destroy lives,
[54:47] Speaker 3: and it's going to in a way we've never seen
[54:50] Speaker 3: before protect monsters. And I don't think we can look
[54:55] Speaker 3: back at the technologies of our past and people who
[54:58] Speaker 3: said no, no, no, you know, books are bad and
[55:01] Speaker 3: computers are evil and all these things. I don't think
[55:04] Speaker 3: deep fakes, AI, et cetera fall into that same category.
[55:08] Speaker 3: I think they're a unique animal. But Joe, you're much appreciated,
[55:12] Speaker 3: and so are your kind words be safe in Pennsylvania.
[55:15] Speaker 8: Okay, Oh yeah, real quick, I just listened to a
[55:19] Speaker 8: podcast where David from I think he's from the Atlantic,
[55:22] Speaker 8: and he interviewed Sam Harris, who I may not agree
[55:26] Speaker 8: with one hundred but it's very interesting about what they're
[55:31] Speaker 8: talking about with the deep fakes and AI, especially AI,
[55:36] Speaker 8: where IA is we're heading headlong into this and it's
[55:40] Speaker 8: an interesting podcast if you listen.
[55:42] Speaker 3: Is one of the What was the vibe? Was it
[55:44] Speaker 3: concern about what may happen?
[55:47] Speaker 8: Yeah, it was concerned. I mean, you know, Sam Harris
[55:51] Speaker 8: kind of like Dawkins, they're kind of against the woke culture,
[55:56] Speaker 8: and I, you know, I consider myself pretty progressive liberal,
[56:00] Speaker 8: and I was upset with all the super right wingers
[56:03] Speaker 8: and Trumpians who were so deadly against you know, fair
[56:08] Speaker 8: you know, fareness, woke, the DEI. But both of them
[56:12] Speaker 8: made really good points. Sim Harrison is brilliant. But it
[56:15] Speaker 8: was it was basically about how AI could possibly you know,
[56:20] Speaker 8: change us or take us down this bad pathway and
[56:25] Speaker 8: Tim Harris had a little hope that we would. It's
[56:28] Speaker 8: going to go this way. It's like, you know, what
[56:30] Speaker 8: are you going to do? We're heading this way and
[56:32] Speaker 8: it's we're just going to have to hopefully wake up
[56:35] Speaker 8: at some point try to do something about it, but
[56:38] Speaker 8: it is a little crazy. I'm luckily I'm old. I'm
[56:41] Speaker 8: seventy one. And just as an aside, I discovered I
[56:46] Speaker 8: was an atheist back in the sixties when I was
[56:50] Speaker 8: like ten years old. I don't know why they came
[56:52] Speaker 8: to me at that age, but I kept going with
[56:56] Speaker 8: the I'm an agnostic thing because it was so hard
[56:59] Speaker 8: to say in those days. I don't believe in God,
[57:02] Speaker 8: you know, I don't. And uh when I stumbled onto
[57:06] Speaker 8: you through people like Christopher Hitchens whatever, and I've been
[57:10] Speaker 8: listening to him. He's, you know, awesomely funny and brilliant guy,
[57:14] Speaker 8: like amazing, like as you just said that, his recall
[57:18] Speaker 8: of books, the knowledge, the quotations of the writers, just amazing.
[57:24] Speaker 8: But I stumbled on to you and you're a nice,
[57:28] Speaker 8: even que on the subject, and that's refreshing.
[57:33] Speaker 3: Well, you're very right.
[57:34] Speaker 9: I will keep you.
[57:36] Speaker 8: I'm really glad I got through to you. Is I've
[57:37] Speaker 8: been dreaming this moment for a while.
[57:41] Speaker 3: You Hopefully I'll get a chance to come out east
[57:44] Speaker 3: and we'll shake hands someday.
[57:45] Speaker 8: Okay, thanks, friend, take care?
[57:49] Speaker 9: Is it?
[57:50] Speaker 3: Alam who was calling on the internet? Were a weblink
[57:54] Speaker 3: iron Alum, wonderful, thanks for calling. What's on your mind?
[58:00] Speaker 9: Thinking about this whole AI think? And I remember you
[58:04] Speaker 9: posted something. I think it was on Instagram, whether AI
[58:08] Speaker 9: can have consciousness? And I've been thinking about the quote soul.
[58:15] Speaker 9: I think as atheists we don't have much reason to
[58:18] Speaker 9: think I cannot have a quotquote soul because a sufficiently
[58:23] Speaker 9: advanced AI could be indistinguishable from a way the human
[58:28] Speaker 9: brain operates. Don't you think? I don't know.
[58:30] Speaker 3: I want to know your Are we conflating soul and consciousness?
[58:34] Speaker 3: Most people believe the soul is an extra natural, separate
[58:38] Speaker 3: thing beyond the physical brain. Do you think that souls
[58:42] Speaker 3: exist beyond the physical brain?
[58:45] Speaker 9: Oh no, that's what I say, Souce. A lot of
[58:48] Speaker 9: people think souls and consciousness is some kind of synonym.
[58:53] Speaker 9: I don't think that's the case. That I think maybe
[58:57] Speaker 9: if AI can get to the point that can similar
[59:00] Speaker 9: perfectly the human brain. I don't think we have a
[59:03] Speaker 9: residence not to or start making laws to protect AI
[59:07] Speaker 9: in a way.
[59:08] Speaker 3: I'm not trying to be a politician about it, but
[59:10] Speaker 3: I go back and forth. If we see the brain
[59:13] Speaker 3: as a computer that does calculations, and we see computers
[59:17] Speaker 3: themselves that we have made that increasingly do calculations at
[59:22] Speaker 3: a faster and faster rate. Could then a computer become
[59:27] Speaker 3: self aware? And I won't say it's impossible, because we
[59:33] Speaker 3: see the brain is the mind, and our minds simply
[59:37] Speaker 3: are calculation machines. And I think the feelings and consciousness,
[59:41] Speaker 3: all those things are part of the calculations. Now, I
[59:43] Speaker 3: don't think it's going to happen anytime really soon. But
[59:46] Speaker 3: could we develop technology that is able to calculate so
[59:50] Speaker 3: deeply and so fast that it does become self aware?
[59:55] Speaker 3: I can't discount it, but I could be totally wrong.
[59:59] Speaker 3: This is not my field. What do you think you
[1:00:01] Speaker 3: think will make sentient conscious computers?
[1:00:04] Speaker 9: I think it's possible. I don't know if I will
[1:00:08] Speaker 9: say that in my lifetime, but I think it's it's
[1:00:10] Speaker 9: really possible.
[1:00:12] Speaker 3: Well, it's something to watch. Was there anything else, my friend?
[1:00:15] Speaker 9: No, I think that that would be it. I mean,
[1:00:17] Speaker 9: thank you for taking my call, and also I wanted
[1:00:19] Speaker 9: to say that I really admired your work.
[1:00:22] Speaker 3: Thank you very much. All Right, I see you're calling
[1:00:25] Speaker 3: from Mexico. Be safe down there, my friend.
[1:00:27] Speaker 9: Okay, yeah, same to you.
[1:00:29] Speaker 3: All right, We'll see you later. Imagine what I must
[1:00:32] Speaker 3: be like watching this country from across the border, looking up,
[1:00:35] Speaker 3: going ome my only shut the fun you know, I'm
[1:00:39] Speaker 3: saying tough enough. Fluffy on Chad said computers have to
[1:00:43] Speaker 3: have experience to become sentient. They can't have experience outside
[1:00:48] Speaker 3: of their own programming. That's out of my pay grade.
[1:00:57] Speaker 3: I'm telling you, out of my pay grade. Patrick has
[1:01:01] Speaker 3: gifted a membership to the channel. You are much appreciated.
[1:01:04] Speaker 3: Godwin has sent a super chat two related sci fi
[1:01:09] Speaker 3: movies and shows Wild Palms and Looker relate to our
[1:01:14] Speaker 3: conversation today. Fluffy again says unplugged, turnoff, walk away experience reality.
[1:01:21] Speaker 3: Godwin says, now AI video mock marginalized race with fake actors. Oh, Godwin,
[1:01:31] Speaker 3: you may be talking about the racist AI videos that
[1:01:33] Speaker 3: have been posted by the White House account or by
[1:01:37] Speaker 3: Donald Trump on truth Social where they have their political opponents.
[1:01:42] Speaker 3: It was at Hakeem Jeffries and they put a sombrero
[1:01:45] Speaker 3: and there was like Mexican music, and it was just
[1:01:47] Speaker 3: as racist as the day is long. And this has
[1:01:51] Speaker 3: a course been so normalized that hardly anybody in this
[1:01:54] Speaker 3: country at least in Maga. They didn't even blink. Oh yeah, racism,
[1:02:00] Speaker 3: yay ai videos of their political opponents doing untoward things
[1:02:04] Speaker 3: or whatever that it's this is where we are. This
[1:02:09] Speaker 3: is where we are. I've got a is it a
[1:02:12] Speaker 3: geopolitical analyst bringing in a web call to the show today?
[1:02:17] Speaker 3: And how do I pronounce your name?
[1:02:19] Speaker 7: It's did so, We did so before a couple of times.
[1:02:23] Speaker 3: What's on your mind?
[1:02:25] Speaker 7: It's marketism or McCarthy, Marga edition or Trump edition. What's
[1:02:30] Speaker 7: happening today in the United States? It's not unprecedented because
[1:02:34] Speaker 7: your country has lived through that type of persecution and
[1:02:37] Speaker 7: prosecution against those they deemed enemies of the state, just
[1:02:43] Speaker 7: like what happened right after the end of the World
[1:02:45] Speaker 7: War two, and even before so you said something about
[1:02:50] Speaker 7: the color of Mexico. How how are we seeing it
[1:02:53] Speaker 7: from the optics of outside the United States? And to
[1:02:57] Speaker 7: be honest, the majority of us are and it is Oh,
[1:03:01] Speaker 7: they've gone back to do the same thing that we've
[1:03:03] Speaker 7: been doing for fast one hundred and sixty if not more.
[1:03:07] Speaker 3: McCarthyism. For the few who may not be aware, Joseph
[1:03:11] Speaker 3: McCarthy was an anti communist zealot who blacklisted people in
[1:03:17] Speaker 3: the entertainment industry and in government, and they had these
[1:03:20] Speaker 3: big show trials calling people communists during the Red Scare
[1:03:24] Speaker 3: of the mid twentieth century. This was the witch hunt
[1:03:28] Speaker 3: of that decade, and they bring people forward, Have you
[1:03:32] Speaker 3: ever been part of the Communist Party? Have you ever
[1:03:34] Speaker 3: attended a Communist meeting? And it was very much the
[1:03:36] Speaker 3: same flavor what we're hearing today. Are you an anti American?
[1:03:41] Speaker 3: Are you a traitor to this country? Because if you are,
[1:03:45] Speaker 3: you're going to be deleted, canceled, punished, maybe imprisoned. That
[1:03:49] Speaker 3: was McCarthyism then, and I think we are definitely seeing
[1:03:53] Speaker 3: McCarthyism again in this country. That was your point, right,
[1:03:56] Speaker 3: Dizze very much.
[1:03:58] Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, no different from what has happened throughout
[1:04:02] Speaker 7: our history in Latin America. You're just living it in
[1:04:05] Speaker 7: your own way. Of course, the things we've lived in
[1:04:09] Speaker 7: Latin America aggregated by the interventionism of the United States.
[1:04:13] Speaker 7: But at the end, the United States is not different
[1:04:17] Speaker 7: from us. They are living through your political crisis because
[1:04:21] Speaker 7: of the different factors that have been degrading into your reality.
[1:04:27] Speaker 7: You know how bipartisan systems end up like what they
[1:04:31] Speaker 7: are happening today Venezuela. What has happened in Venezuela, What
[1:04:34] Speaker 7: happened in Garagua, what's happened in Mexico, what happened now
[1:04:37] Speaker 7: in the United States? That is the core of the issue,
[1:04:41] Speaker 7: the bipartisan model politics, the grades into what you're living today,
[1:04:46] Speaker 7: what is old.
[1:04:47] Speaker 3: Is new again? How many witch hunts has human kind
[1:04:51] Speaker 3: seeing throughout its history? All we can do is push
[1:04:54] Speaker 3: back and fight back. So you're much appreciated. I wish
[1:04:58] Speaker 3: you all safety and goodness wherever you are. Okay.
[1:05:01] Speaker 7: Yeah, we're preparing for war for against the United States
[1:05:04] Speaker 7: because of the Venezuela situation. Even though I hate my
[1:05:07] Speaker 7: little we're preparing for invasion in the next few months.
[1:05:11] Speaker 3: I wish I could apologize for three hundred and eighty
[1:05:14] Speaker 3: million people. Okay, I apologize. Actually it's half or what's maga?
[1:05:21] Speaker 3: What's the percentage of MAGA right now? It's in the thirties,
[1:05:25] Speaker 3: So i'd whatever thirty some percent of the population. I'd
[1:05:29] Speaker 3: like to apologize for my friend. You're greatly appreciated. We'll
[1:05:32] Speaker 3: talk again. Okay, you too, Thank you, all right, We'll
[1:05:35] Speaker 3: see you. The no Kings protests are happening on the eighteenth,
[1:05:42] Speaker 3: a week from Saturday, whatever that is. Thousands of separate
[1:05:46] Speaker 3: protests are happening in cities all across the country and
[1:05:50] Speaker 3: in other countries all around the world, resisting tyrants and
[1:05:55] Speaker 3: saying we are not a theocracy, we are not a monarchy.
[1:05:58] Speaker 3: This shit ain't going fly. And I will be out
[1:06:01] Speaker 3: there with my placard, with my sign, with a video camera.
[1:06:06] Speaker 3: Last time I went out to a No King's event
[1:06:07] Speaker 3: a few months ago, Forrest Valci was there. We just
[1:06:10] Speaker 3: bumped into each other. He's doing a chicktok stream. Hey, Hey,
[1:06:14] Speaker 3: what's up for us? And he spins around with his camera.
[1:06:16] Speaker 3: Next thing I know, without realizing it, I'm on his
[1:06:19] Speaker 3: TikTok channel. Oh Hi, Hi, everybody. I just came to
[1:06:22] Speaker 3: say hi to Forest. I may if I've been to
[1:06:25] Speaker 3: him at the No Kings thing in Tulsa. So I'm
[1:06:30] Speaker 3: going to try to document that but participate. A lot
[1:06:33] Speaker 3: of people say it makes no difference, It's all just
[1:06:36] Speaker 3: a bunch of performance that doesn't result in me. I disagree.
[1:06:39] Speaker 3: I think our faces have to be seeing, our voices
[1:06:42] Speaker 3: have to be heard. I worry a little bit that
[1:06:44] Speaker 3: they were going to be inciters of violence. And I'm
[1:06:46] Speaker 3: not talking about the No Kings people. I'm talking about
[1:06:49] Speaker 3: people who want to come in and paint us as
[1:06:51] Speaker 3: those domestic terrorists we were talking about, the people who
[1:06:55] Speaker 3: were a danger, and they're going to engage in some
[1:06:59] Speaker 3: kind of product cation. They're going to catch it on video,
[1:07:02] Speaker 3: they're going to spin it well however they want, and
[1:07:05] Speaker 3: then they're going to say that the No Kings movement
[1:07:08] Speaker 3: is like Antifa is a danger to democracy, Christianity, and
[1:07:15] Speaker 3: the great Country of America. And then they're going to
[1:07:18] Speaker 3: start surpassing edicts and decrees and all those types of things.
[1:07:24] Speaker 3: And I worry people, you know. So there are actually
[1:07:28] Speaker 3: protocols that are being promoted by I think fifty to
[1:07:31] Speaker 3: fifty one in some other places to give guidelines. Here
[1:07:35] Speaker 3: are ways to prevent, to de escalate, to not get
[1:07:39] Speaker 3: sucked in, to not let someone else set a hook
[1:07:42] Speaker 3: and get you involved in something that you want no
[1:07:44] Speaker 3: part of. Here's how to deal with someone who is provocative.
[1:07:47] Speaker 3: Here's how to not get into a violent exchange in
[1:07:50] Speaker 3: any way. If the cops show up, do this, don't
[1:07:54] Speaker 3: do that. Here's what to say. Here's what your rights are.
[1:07:56] Speaker 3: It's really useful stuff. I think fifty to fifty one
[1:08:00] Speaker 3: and has those types of recommendations out there. You can
[1:08:03] Speaker 3: just Google search them. No Kings recommendations. I'm sure something
[1:08:07] Speaker 3: will pop up anyway. I'll be there on the eighteenth
[1:08:09] Speaker 3: with my people and I hope you can find your
[1:08:12] Speaker 3: people as well. And that's going to do it for
[1:08:16] Speaker 3: our time slot today. And it's been an honor to
[1:08:19] Speaker 3: hang out. Thank you so much for being, you know,
[1:08:22] Speaker 3: my bartender, listening to me wail and complain and whatnot.
[1:08:26] Speaker 3: And if you like the work here and if you

[1:08:41] Speaker 3: a little day, take a percentage like PayPal and everybody
[1:08:43] Speaker 3: else does. But their platform is amazing and it's easy
[1:08:47] Speaker 3: to use and you can set your own terms. And
[1:08:49] Speaker 3: it's not about ads and advertisers. It's about Hey, I
[1:08:54] Speaker 3: like this channel, I like this content. I want to
[1:08:57] Speaker 3: make sure it's still here in a week. I'm going

[1:09:12] Speaker 3: it's been a great, great option, So become a patron
