[2:06] Speaker 5: This one's different, Johnny. It's a real simple job.
[2:08] Speaker 4: Oh, they all are, according to you.
[2:10] Speaker 5: All I want you to do is pick up something
[2:11] Speaker 5: out of the coast and bring it back here. That's all.
[2:13] Speaker 4: Yeah. What one hundred thousand dollars? Oh, I'll be right over.
[2:26] Speaker 8: Wow.
[2:27] Speaker 9: Bailey and the Exciting Adventures of the Man with the
[2:29] Speaker 9: Action packed Expensive out America's fabulous freelance insurance investigator.
[2:33] Speaker 6: Yours truly, Johnny Dollar. Expense account submitted by a special investigator,
[2:53] Speaker 6: Johnny Dollar, the Universal Adjustment Bureau, Hertford, Connecticut. Following is
[2:57] Speaker 6: nccount of expenses incurage during my investigation of the Johnson
[3:01] Speaker 6: Payroll matter. Expense account Item one A dollar twenty five
[3:11] Speaker 6: cab fair for my apartment at the Office of Universal
[3:13] Speaker 6: Adjustment Bureau and Pat McCracken.
[3:20] Speaker 10: One hundred thousand bucks made you prick up your ears, Johnny?
[3:23] Speaker 4: He said, Okay, Patty, what's the deal.
[3:26] Speaker 3: You hear about the Johnson payroll robbery last week down
[3:28] Speaker 3: in New York and.
[3:29] Speaker 4: Right about it? There weren't too many details.
[3:31] Speaker 10: They got one hundred thousand and the payroll was insured
[3:34] Speaker 10: by one of the.
[3:34] Speaker 4: Companies we represented. How many in on the robbery do
[3:37] Speaker 4: you know? Oh?
[3:37] Speaker 10: Not sure? There were several. One of them was fatally wounded.
[3:40] Speaker 10: Was he able to talk before he died, Yeah, just.
[3:42] Speaker 2: Enough to tell us.
[3:43] Speaker 3: The plan was to split up after the robbery, meet
[3:45] Speaker 3: in another.
[3:46] Speaker 4: City to di thep the loop.
[3:47] Speaker 11: Uh huh.
[3:47] Speaker 4: You think it's out in California now. We also think.
[3:50] Speaker 3: One of the crooks may be trying to double cross.
[3:52] Speaker 4: The others, hiding out from them.
[3:54] Speaker 10: Maybe that's the general idea. We got a call from
[3:56] Speaker 10: Los Angeles this morning. Fellow wouldn't give his name. He
[4:00] Speaker 10: claimed he could give us a lead on the one
[4:01] Speaker 10: who has the doll or a price, of course, So
[4:05] Speaker 10: you're to meet him in LA and find out what
[4:07] Speaker 10: he knows, if anything. What do you figure as anglest
[4:10] Speaker 10: Maybe several, Johnny, But I don't care what I do
[4:13] Speaker 10: care about is getting the money back?
[4:14] Speaker 4: All right? How do I contact this man in Los Angeles?
[4:17] Speaker 3: You don't, He'll contact you at your hotel the nest.
[4:21] Speaker 4: Don't keeping my way.
[4:23] Speaker 3: Oh, just one thing, Johnny. Maybe it's a court to you.
[4:25] Speaker 5: Maybe it hasn't.
[4:27] Speaker 3: There will be others looking for that money.
[4:28] Speaker 4: Too, the other guys involved in the robbery.
[4:31] Speaker 3: Yeah, of course, if you can get there first, try.
[4:34] Speaker 6: Oh and don't bother telling me to be sure to
[4:37] Speaker 6: get back here in one piece.
[4:39] Speaker 4: That I'll really try to do.
[4:47] Speaker 6: Expense account at him two one hundred eighty seven dollars,
[4:50] Speaker 6: even air transportation and incidental's to Los Angeles. I've been
[4:53] Speaker 6: told to stay at the hotel Nester. So I took
[4:55] Speaker 6: a cab that'sat HIM three five fifty from the airport.
[5:00] Speaker 6: It was just getting dark as my cab pulled up
[5:03] Speaker 6: in front of the place. Before I could get out,
[5:05] Speaker 6: somebody got in.
[5:06] Speaker 12: Oh I'm sorry. I didn't know this cab was occupied.
[5:09] Speaker 6: Oh that's okay, welcome aboard here, I'll get out.
[5:13] Speaker 4: Oh it's okay, I've got you.
[5:16] Speaker 12: Sorry, I lost my balance, I've got my Heea.
[5:20] Speaker 4: You may be sorry, but I'm not.
[5:22] Speaker 6: I can't think of a better way to arrive in
[5:24] Speaker 6: a strange city than with a beautiful girl in your arms.
[5:27] Speaker 12: You let go of me.
[5:29] Speaker 6: Oh, oh yeah, I'm sorry. Oh wait a minute, you
[5:34] Speaker 6: can have this cab as soon as I get my
[5:36] Speaker 6: stuff out of Oh that's all.
[5:37] Speaker 12: Right, I'm in a hurry. I'll get another one to
[5:38] Speaker 12: do it.
[5:39] Speaker 6: Wait a second, I mean after all? Oh well, yeah,
[5:50] Speaker 6: that's the story of my life. The best ones always
[5:52] Speaker 6: seemed to get away. I went into the hotel lobby
[5:55] Speaker 6: to register, but found a message waiting for me from
[5:57] Speaker 6: the informant, who had phoned a pat I was to
[6:00] Speaker 6: drive to the little town of Corrado Beach down the
[6:02] Speaker 6: coast and meet a man there first thing in the morning.
[6:04] Speaker 4: There was a map showing me the way to a
[6:06] Speaker 4: small pier where the meeting was to take place.
[6:08] Speaker 6: HM looked like Los Angeles had suddenly got too hot
[6:12] Speaker 6: for him. Expense account had him four fifty dollars to
[6:17] Speaker 6: rent a car. I left word where i'd be, drove
[6:20] Speaker 6: to Corroado Beach and checked in at a motel. Then
[6:23] Speaker 6: early next morning I went out to the little pier.
[6:25] Speaker 6: It was a ramshackle affair with a couple of beat
[6:27] Speaker 6: up boats. Tied to it, and an old character fumbling
[6:29] Speaker 6: with the door of a little bait shack. I went
[6:31] Speaker 6: over to him. Hi, Marien, having trouble. Yeah, some kids
[6:39] Speaker 6: been monking with this lot.
[6:40] Speaker 4: You want some bait?
[6:41] Speaker 6: No, this is one trip I didn't come to fish.
[6:44] Speaker 13: How is it by the way fish?
[6:46] Speaker 4: Yeah, fine, just my lot. No, I'm supposed to meet
[6:50] Speaker 4: somebody here.
[6:51] Speaker 13: Oh, there must be that fellow out there.
[6:53] Speaker 4: He was already there when I got here. Oh.
[6:55] Speaker 6: When you see that boat the bottom side up on
[6:58] Speaker 6: the pier near the end, you mean the man sitting
[7:01] Speaker 6: beside her, Yeah, get himself a fishing rod.
[7:04] Speaker 4: Looks like could be want some bait.
[7:06] Speaker 13: I'll walk out with you and see if you don't mind,
[7:09] Speaker 13: not at all.
[7:10] Speaker 4: So the fishing has been good?
[7:12] Speaker 2: Huh?
[7:12] Speaker 4: What have they been catching?
[7:14] Speaker 6: Quite a few bass last couple of days off the pier? Yeah,
[7:18] Speaker 6: some kelp beds in clothes. Brings me in around here.
[7:22] Speaker 13: Funny and your friend there, you don't see it?
[7:25] Speaker 8: Hey sleep?
[7:26] Speaker 6: I guess he Watchjohn he's living.
[7:31] Speaker 7: But m hm, hey, mister mister, he isn't sleeping.
[7:37] Speaker 4: That's right, he's dead.
[7:55] Speaker 9: Act two of yours, truly Johnny Dollar in a.
[7:58] Speaker 14: Moment our fly now numbers fifty stars, and behind each
[8:02] Speaker 14: star there stands yet another flag representing one of the
[8:06] Speaker 14: fifty states. Georgia's state flag displays the state seal on
[8:10] Speaker 14: a strip of blue. The seal symbolizes the fact that
[8:14] Speaker 14: constitutional government rests equally on the three major branches of
[8:18] Speaker 14: government legislative, executive, and judicial, and that all three must
[8:23] Speaker 14: be guarded equally if a sound government is to be maintained.
[8:27] Speaker 14: The greater portion of Georgia's flag is crimson. On it
[8:31] Speaker 14: is superimposed the blue cross of Saint Andrew, bearing thirteen
[8:34] Speaker 14: white stars for the original thirteen colonies. This cross, made
[8:39] Speaker 14: in the form of saltee or X, was adopted from
[8:42] Speaker 14: the national flag of Scotland. Georgia's state flag, the flag
[8:46] Speaker 14: of the fourth state enter the Union, was adopted in
[8:49] Speaker 14: nineteen fifty six, and.
[8:52] Speaker 9: Now at two of yours, truly Johnny Dollar and the
[8:55] Speaker 9: Johnson Payroll matter.
[9:02] Speaker 6: I'd flown three thousand miles to meet a man, only
[9:06] Speaker 6: to find him dead at the end of a rickety
[9:07] Speaker 6: little pier at Coroado Beach, a knife between his ribs.
[9:11] Speaker 6: I searched him, while the old fellow at the Baitshack
[9:13] Speaker 6: went to call the police, but I didn't find a
[9:15] Speaker 6: thing on him to help me, no identification. Even later
[9:19] Speaker 6: talking to the police, well, they didn't have any line
[9:21] Speaker 6: on him. There my only lead on the payroll robbery
[9:25] Speaker 6: was dead. I waited around the hotel most of the day,
[9:29] Speaker 6: hoping the police could turn up something on the dead man,
[9:31] Speaker 6: but it was no soap. I had him five two
[9:34] Speaker 6: dollars for drinks in the town's only bar.
[9:36] Speaker 5: Well.
[9:36] Speaker 6: I tried to figure out my next move, and my
[9:39] Speaker 6: next move was to the phone booth in the corner.
[9:41] Speaker 6: They called Pat McCracken back in Hartford collect.
[9:46] Speaker 3: Oh tough luck, Johnny, What are you sure.
[9:48] Speaker 5: The dead man is our informant?
[9:50] Speaker 6: There was no identification on him, but he was right
[9:52] Speaker 6: where he told me he'd be in the message he
[9:54] Speaker 6: left for me in La I'll probably not.
[9:55] Speaker 5: Much doubt about him.
[9:56] Speaker 3: And oh, incidentally, I sent some mugshots off he I
[10:00] Speaker 3: have been involved in.
[10:00] Speaker 5: The Johnson Mayor old job.
[10:03] Speaker 4: Yeah, I got him about an hour ago.
[10:05] Speaker 5: We're not sure if any of them are the ones
[10:06] Speaker 5: or not, and we don't have any line at all,
[10:08] Speaker 5: and the leader of the gang.
[10:10] Speaker 6: Move search me right now. I'm right in the middle
[10:14] Speaker 6: of nowhere, I guess I, Hey, wait a minute, maybe I'm.
[10:18] Speaker 4: Not out of leeds after all. I'll call you later.
[10:23] Speaker 6: What pulled me off that phone in a hurry was
[10:25] Speaker 6: a glimpse of somebody over here one end of the bar.
[10:28] Speaker 6: I slid out of the booth and went over. Well, Hi,
[10:34] Speaker 6: I imagine meeting you here.
[10:36] Speaker 12: I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about.
[10:39] Speaker 6: You're the girl who got into my cab in Los Angeles.
[10:41] Speaker 12: I'm afraid you're confusing me with somebody else.
[10:43] Speaker 2: I'm sorry, I have just a minute.
[10:45] Speaker 6: I'm beginning to think it wasn't just coincidence you got
[10:48] Speaker 6: into my cab.
[10:49] Speaker 4: Maybe we'd better have a little talk.
[10:51] Speaker 12: Please pull my arm. You've made a mistake and there's
[10:55] Speaker 12: nothing to talk about.
[10:56] Speaker 4: You annoying you, lady. I'll look just.
[10:58] Speaker 12: Yes, he is annoying me.
[11:00] Speaker 15: Your hands off her, buddy, I'll look Joe. I mean it,
[11:03] Speaker 15: and my name ain't Joe. I got you outweighed by
[11:06] Speaker 15: about forty pounds. Buddy, you don't understand you Just go
[11:09] Speaker 15: over and we'll talk it all right? O?
[11:12] Speaker 4: Jay?
[11:13] Speaker 7: Okay, thank you?
[11:16] Speaker 4: Oh just what is it?
[11:20] Speaker 15: I don't understand, buddy, Skip it buddy, so she.
[11:29] Speaker 4: Got away from me.
[11:30] Speaker 6: I grabbed my top coat off a hook and step
[11:32] Speaker 6: outside of It was damning foggy out there.
[11:35] Speaker 4: I put on the coat and started looking around for it.
[11:38] Speaker 4: It was too late. She was just playing gone.
[11:42] Speaker 6: Then walking along with my hands in my coat pockets.
[11:45] Speaker 6: I realized there was something in one o key, So
[11:48] Speaker 6: I'm hotell them, but not mine.
[11:51] Speaker 2: Funny.
[11:52] Speaker 6: Then I remembered I'd had the coat beside me in
[11:55] Speaker 6: the taxi when the girl climbed in back in Los Angeles. Yeah,
[11:58] Speaker 6: she got to slip it in the coket them. Why
[12:02] Speaker 6: and that's what I wanted to find out. I looked
[12:04] Speaker 6: up the motel. I was about a mile down the
[12:06] Speaker 6: highway from mine, Room seven. Yeah, the key fit all right,
[12:13] Speaker 6: And as I opened the door, I realized I had
[12:15] Speaker 6: company right behind him.
[12:16] Speaker 16: Freeze Delli, Oh you never mind inside, move Okay, get
[12:26] Speaker 16: that blind down, Okay, Oh wait a.
[12:34] Speaker 6: Minute, your face looks familiar. Yeah, those mugshots mccragan sent me.
[12:40] Speaker 4: You must be Slattery, right boy, one of the guys
[12:44] Speaker 4: they suspected pulling the Johnson.
[12:45] Speaker 2: Payroll job to Bright for your own good dollar.
[12:48] Speaker 6: You must be the one who killed the man out
[12:50] Speaker 6: on the pier, the man who was gonna tell me
[12:52] Speaker 6: where the payroll door is.
[12:53] Speaker 16: It's a nice stall, dollar, but it won't work. You
[12:55] Speaker 16: mean Slammery Blake killed him and you know it. Yeah,
[12:58] Speaker 16: ah is Blake played coy Dollar. Okay, we'll do it
[13:03] Speaker 16: your way. Blake's got the payroll dough and you're.
[13:05] Speaker 2: Working with him.
[13:06] Speaker 16: Just how do you figure that Blake's girlfriend climbed in
[13:09] Speaker 16: your taxi in Los Angeles?
[13:11] Speaker 2: I figure she slipped you the key to this room.
[13:13] Speaker 4: Look, you've got a few things, all turn it.
[13:15] Speaker 2: Up and stand still. Askind as I have it? Are
[13:18] Speaker 2: going off sometimes?
[13:19] Speaker 4: O kidding?
[13:20] Speaker 2: So where's the dough? Take it to leave at slattery?
[13:23] Speaker 2: I don't know what it better be in this room?
[13:27] Speaker 6: Yeah, if it isn't, you guess. I don't think I
[13:32] Speaker 6: need more than one. If it isn't here, I'm not
[13:36] Speaker 6: leaving that the idea.
[13:39] Speaker 2: Oh you leave all right. It's just that you won't
[13:42] Speaker 2: be walking out of here.
[13:48] Speaker 9: Act free of yours truly, Johnny Dollar.
[13:50] Speaker 2: In a moment.
[13:52] Speaker 11: Over one hundred and fifty years ago, the Swiss poet
[13:55] Speaker 11: already on yellow wrote heroism is the brilliant trial of
[14:00] Speaker 11: the soul overfear. Heroism is the dazzling and glorious concentration
[14:06] Speaker 11: of courage. During the Korean Campaign, Corporal Ronald Rosser was
[14:11] Speaker 11: attached to the heavy mortar company of the thirty eighth Infantry,
[14:14] Speaker 11: second Division, United States Army. Rosser, a veteran of World
[14:19] Speaker 11: War Two, rejoined the Army and shipped to Korea when
[14:23] Speaker 11: he heard that his brother had fallen in the winter
[14:25] Speaker 11: assault of the Chinese Communists. One day, Rosser's company moved
[14:30] Speaker 11: into enemy territory. At the time, the corporal was a
[14:34] Speaker 11: forward observer and carried a radio. Suddenly, in the midst
[14:39] Speaker 11: of an enemy attack, Rosser handed his radio to a body,
[14:42] Speaker 11: slipped the safety off his carbine, and filled his shirt
[14:45] Speaker 11: with hand grenades. He charged at the enemy through fierce
[14:48] Speaker 11: mortar and artillery fire, shooting from the hip. Straddling a bunker,
[14:53] Speaker 11: he riddled its occupants. Still advancing, he accounted for two
[14:56] Speaker 11: more of the enemy, shooting one through the head and
[14:59] Speaker 11: clubbing another to death. Continuing his one man charge, he
[15:03] Speaker 11: jumped into a trench full of enemy soldiers, opened fire,
[15:06] Speaker 11: and forced his way relentlessly down the length of the trench,
[15:09] Speaker 11: killing right and left with grenades and carbing fire out
[15:13] Speaker 11: of ammunition. He returned to his company where he replenished
[15:17] Speaker 11: his supply. Then he charged the enemy again and again.
[15:21] Speaker 11: Finally he returned to his own area, and taking the
[15:25] Speaker 11: radio back from his friend, he moved out with his company.
[15:30] Speaker 11: Corporal Ronald Rosser was awarded the Medal of Honor for
[15:33] Speaker 11: his action, action which had shown the enemy that his
[15:37] Speaker 11: personal code of conduct wouldn't let them push around either
[15:41] Speaker 11: his kid brother or his country.
[15:45] Speaker 9: And now Act three of yours, truly, Johnny Dollar and
[15:48] Speaker 9: the Johnson payroll matter.
[16:09] Speaker 6: Ah, Now, look, slattery, you've torn this motel room completely apart.
[16:12] Speaker 6: Obviously that payroll money isn't here, that's.
[16:14] Speaker 2: Right, teller. So now you're gonna tell me where it is.
[16:16] Speaker 6: Oh brother, you take a lot of convincing. I told you,
[16:18] Speaker 6: I don't know, So why don't you put that gun
[16:20] Speaker 6: away and.
[16:21] Speaker 16: Listen whether one takes the convincing dollars? So I start convincing.
[16:26] Speaker 4: That's not going to do you any good.
[16:28] Speaker 2: Oh well, for sure, it's not going to do you
[16:30] Speaker 2: any good.
[16:31] Speaker 16: So what I'm gonna look, Look, I'll give you the
[16:33] Speaker 16: whole story, and I'm supposed to believe it.
[16:36] Speaker 4: Staring down that gun barrel. I'm not about to lie.
[16:40] Speaker 2: Let's happen, all right.
[16:41] Speaker 6: A guy called us from Los Angeles said he could
[16:44] Speaker 6: give us a lead on who had the dove from
[16:45] Speaker 6: the Johnson payroll job.
[16:46] Speaker 2: It was Hollis. He was hoping you'd lead him to it.
[16:49] Speaker 4: Hamas.
[16:49] Speaker 15: Yeah.
[16:50] Speaker 2: Yeah, the guy you found out in the pier dead.
[16:52] Speaker 4: And you said a man named Blake killed him.
[16:53] Speaker 2: You know Blake killed him.
[16:55] Speaker 16: You know, Blake engineered to hold up and then ran
[16:57] Speaker 16: out on Hollis and me, sure, because you're in with him.
[17:00] Speaker 16: I seen his girl get in your cab in Los Angeles.
[17:02] Speaker 6: Okay, so she got in my cab, but I didn't
[17:05] Speaker 6: know her. I'd never seen her before.
[17:06] Speaker 2: He slipped you the key to this motel room, didn't she.
[17:09] Speaker 6: Yeah, now I think I know why she was trying
[17:11] Speaker 6: to sidetrack us, lead us to think the dough was here,
[17:15] Speaker 6: so it would take the pressure off Blake and her.
[17:16] Speaker 16: That part of your story I don't buy, Delly. I
[17:19] Speaker 16: think you know where that dough is and I want
[17:21] Speaker 16: it now.
[17:21] Speaker 7: Look, if you think I'm gonna take any more of.
[17:26] Speaker 16: This gun says, that's exactly what you're gonna do. Until
[17:29] Speaker 16: you decide to talk.
[17:31] Speaker 4: I roll with his next one and let my eyes
[17:34] Speaker 4: droop on my knees. Say. He reached down to steady
[17:37] Speaker 4: of me.
[17:37] Speaker 6: And I gave him left foot in the stomach to flat.
[17:43] Speaker 6: By the time he got to his feet, I was
[17:45] Speaker 6: out the door. I do behind some bushes down the road,
[17:48] Speaker 6: and I waited. He pounded right on past me, gun
[17:51] Speaker 6: in hand. I went him till he was out of
[17:53] Speaker 6: sight and double back to my car. Apparently Slattery didn't
[17:56] Speaker 6: know Blake's girl was around here.
[17:57] Speaker 8: Somewhere.
[17:58] Speaker 4: One thing was sure. I had to find it. Went fast.
[18:03] Speaker 6: There are only three motels in town, the one I
[18:05] Speaker 6: was staying at, the one where Slattery had been playing
[18:07] Speaker 6: Paddy King on my jaw, on a third off the
[18:09] Speaker 6: highway near the beach.
[18:10] Speaker 4: I drove to that one and check the register.
[18:13] Speaker 6: It showed a minor grant in number eighth.
[18:24] Speaker 4: No please get out, No, sorry, you don't have that
[18:27] Speaker 4: talk right now.
[18:29] Speaker 12: I tell you you've made a mistake about me.
[18:31] Speaker 4: Oh come on, drop the egg miner.
[18:33] Speaker 6: I know you're Blake's girlfriend that just slipped that motel
[18:36] Speaker 6: key in my coat pocket in la to get me
[18:38] Speaker 6: off the trailer. Johnson payroll money.
[18:41] Speaker 11: What.
[18:42] Speaker 6: I also know that Blake masterminded the robbery and double
[18:44] Speaker 6: cross this buddy held out on him.
[18:47] Speaker 12: Oh, I guess I knew it must be something like that.
[18:52] Speaker 4: What are you talking about, mister?
[18:55] Speaker 17: I haven't known fred Lake very long, a month. Maybe
[19:00] Speaker 17: I didn't know what he did for a living, and
[19:01] Speaker 17: I didn't ask him. Two days ago, he said he
[19:04] Speaker 17: was in trouble and needed my help. He wanted me
[19:06] Speaker 17: to slip that key into your coat pocket and the
[19:08] Speaker 17: taxi in.
[19:08] Speaker 4: Los Angeles take slattery office trade.
[19:10] Speaker 17: Then he told me to meet him here at the beach.
[19:12] Speaker 17: When I saw you in the bar a while ago,
[19:14] Speaker 17: I got panicky.
[19:15] Speaker 12: I didn't know what to do. But that's all I
[19:17] Speaker 12: know about it, mister Dollar.
[19:19] Speaker 17: I didn't know Blake was a criminal, Honestly I didn't.
[19:23] Speaker 6: Yeah, will you help me find him?
[19:28] Speaker 8: Yes?
[19:29] Speaker 12: I will, mister Dollar, if I can. The trouble is
[19:33] Speaker 12: right now. I don't know where he is any more
[19:35] Speaker 12: than you do.
[19:44] Speaker 4: We'll be foached.
[19:45] Speaker 15: Hey wait a minute, buddy, ain't you the one that
[19:48] Speaker 15: was molesting this young lady and our ago tires?
[19:51] Speaker 4: And buddy, my molesting days are old.
[19:53] Speaker 12: It's all right, bartender, I'm sorry. I caused you the trouble.
[19:56] Speaker 2: No trouble, ma'am.
[19:57] Speaker 4: I'm just glad it turned out all right.
[20:00] Speaker 7: Things happened fast here at the beach.
[20:03] Speaker 6: I guess I don't suppose you've ever heard of a
[20:04] Speaker 6: guy named Fred Blake?
[20:06] Speaker 4: Have you not?
[20:07] Speaker 15: That I remember?
[20:07] Speaker 2: You're looking for me?
[20:08] Speaker 4: Yeah?
[20:09] Speaker 2: What do you look like?
[20:10] Speaker 17: Medium high, dark hair and brown eyes, regular features.
[20:16] Speaker 4: That description that for half the guys that come in here. Sure, fishermen,
[20:19] Speaker 4: salesman vacation only that kind. Don't come in here anymore. Salesman,
[20:23] Speaker 4: No fishermen. I thought the fishing was good here been.
[20:27] Speaker 15: No fishing around here for months.
[20:29] Speaker 6: H A fellow told me they were getting a lot
[20:31] Speaker 6: of bass right off the pier.
[20:33] Speaker 4: He was pulling your leg, buddy.
[20:34] Speaker 15: There's a chemical plant nearby. A lot of stuff got
[20:37] Speaker 15: dumped into the water by accident a few months ago
[20:40] Speaker 15: to fish.
[20:40] Speaker 5: Haven't been back since.
[20:41] Speaker 6: Wait a minute, sure, right out of my nose all
[20:44] Speaker 6: the time. What do you mean, Johnny, when I'll see
[20:46] Speaker 6: you later. I got in my car and headed for
[20:52] Speaker 6: the pier. As it turned off the highway, I could
[20:54] Speaker 6: see a car a couple hundred yards back following me
[20:56] Speaker 6: with its slights off, but I couldn't stop. Now, park
[21:00] Speaker 6: near the pier and headed for the big shack. The
[21:02] Speaker 6: windows were still boarded over, but I could see a
[21:04] Speaker 6: crack of light between the boys. I eased over to
[21:07] Speaker 6: the shack.
[21:09] Speaker 4: Oh no.
[21:11] Speaker 6: I fled against the wall as the door came up.
[21:13] Speaker 6: When Blake came out with a gun. My hacked out
[21:15] Speaker 6: of his hand. All it haulted Blake, Well the fisherman's friend. Huh, Look,
[21:21] Speaker 6: you'll kill that guy on the end of the pier.
[21:23] Speaker 6: Just before I showed up this morning. You didn't have
[21:26] Speaker 6: time to leave, so you're covered by making like you
[21:28] Speaker 6: worked here. Then it occurred to you this was a
[21:30] Speaker 6: pretty good hideout. The slattery got off your trail. Look, look,
[21:33] Speaker 6: maybe we can make a deal. Oh, we're going to
[21:36] Speaker 6: You turned the stolen money over to me, and I
[21:39] Speaker 6: turned you over to the police.
[21:41] Speaker 16: Your gun, dolly drop it ochase Slattery.
[21:47] Speaker 2: Oh, Blake, glad to see me.
[21:50] Speaker 4: Look, Slattery, I wasn't trying to cross you. I was
[21:53] Speaker 4: going to get in touch with you when things quieted down.
[21:56] Speaker 2: Sure you were. Let's have the dough all right, it's
[22:01] Speaker 2: in the shack.
[22:03] Speaker 6: Blake half turned and I saw his hand slide into
[22:06] Speaker 6: his coat a second gun. He whipped it out, but
[22:08] Speaker 6: Slattery had seen it too. He got Blake, but his
[22:11] Speaker 6: eyes were off me for a.
[22:12] Speaker 3: Lucky second coat.
[22:18] Speaker 4: I checked Blake. He was still alive. Yeah, they'd both
[22:21] Speaker 4: keep for a long time.
[22:29] Speaker 6: Adam six one hundred and seventy four dollars even air
[22:31] Speaker 6: transportation and Encinatal's back home expense account total five hundred
[22:35] Speaker 6: and twenty six dollars fifty cents, remarks the payroll money
[22:39] Speaker 6: is back where it belongs. Slattery and Blake are back
[22:42] Speaker 6: where they belonged, with Blake facing a murder rapped a
[22:44] Speaker 6: boot funny, I probably wouldn't nail him if he hadn't
[22:48] Speaker 6: told me that phony story about the fish fighting near
[22:51] Speaker 6: the pier teaches me a lesson.
[22:53] Speaker 4: Pat.
[22:53] Speaker 6: I'm not going to tell any more fish stories. They
[22:56] Speaker 6: can kill you yours truly, Johnny Dollar.
[23:12] Speaker 9: Our star will return in just a moment.
[23:16] Speaker 18: Our flag now numbers fifty stars, and behind each star
[23:20] Speaker 18: there stands yet another flag representing one of the fifty states.
[23:25] Speaker 18: Ohio's state flag is the only pennant shaped flag, or burgee,
[23:30] Speaker 18: as it is correctly called. The Buckeye banner is the
[23:34] Speaker 18: creation of an engineer who created a blue triangle for
[23:37] Speaker 18: the hills and valleys, red and white stripes for the
[23:41] Speaker 18: roads and waterways of the state. There are thirteen stars
[23:45] Speaker 18: for the original thirteen colonies, and four extra stars to
[23:50] Speaker 18: indicate that Ohio was the seventeenth state admitted to the Union.
[23:56] Speaker 18: A white circle with a red center represents the initial
[23:59] Speaker 18: letter Ohio and suggests it's nickname.
[24:03] Speaker 2: The Buckeye State.
[24:06] Speaker 18: Ohio's state flag, the flag of the seventeenth state to
[24:09] Speaker 18: enter the Union, was adapted on May nineteen hundred and two.
[24:14] Speaker 9: Now here's our star to tell you about next week's story.
[24:17] Speaker 6: Next week, a pair of common ordinary glasses solve a
[24:21] Speaker 6: case for us, the gruesome spectacle matter join us, won't you?
[24:25] Speaker 4: Yours Truly Johnny Dollar?
[24:32] Speaker 9: Yours Truly Johnny Dollar is starring Bob Bailey, originates in
[24:36] Speaker 9: Hollywood and is produced and directed by Jack Johnstone.
[24:40] Speaker 4: Today's story was written.
[24:41] Speaker 2: By Robert Stanley.
[24:43] Speaker 9: Heard in our cast where Virginia Gregg, Lawrence Dobkin, Boris,
[24:47] Speaker 9: Lewis Shepard, Menken and Frank gristall be sure to join
[24:51] Speaker 9: us next week, same time in station for another exciting
[24:54] Speaker 9: story of Yours Truly Johnny Dollar.
[24:56] Speaker 2: This is Roy Rowan speaking. This is the United States
[25:27] Speaker 2: Armed Forces Radio and Television Service.
[25:37] Speaker 1: Welcome Back, okay. I had theorized about this episode a
[25:42] Speaker 1: few weeks back and had been curious that we had
[25:48] Speaker 1: Johnny doing this weird thing with going back and forth
[25:52] Speaker 1: to California and having a California vacation suggested after he'd
[25:57] Speaker 1: already been there, And I wonder because Jack Johnstone was
[26:02] Speaker 1: doing the writing. But this is a script not by
[26:06] Speaker 1: Jack Johnstone but rather by Robert Stanley, and I did
[26:10] Speaker 1: appreciate that they at least covered for the fact that
[26:13] Speaker 1: Johnny has been in California in the last few weeks,
[26:16] Speaker 1: But nevertheless, the script was commissioned and they were going
[26:20] Speaker 1: to use it. Our criminal is undone in the end
[26:24] Speaker 1: by trying to make small talk while not knowing what
[26:28] Speaker 1: he was talking about, and his end not only has
[26:31] Speaker 1: a moral for fishermen, but really for all of us. Well,
[26:35] Speaker 1: now it is time to thank our Patreon supporter of
[26:39] Speaker 1: the day, and today I want to go ahead and

[27:46] Speaker 8: The goodman high commander is counting on information. So they've
[27:49] Speaker 8: got to arrange plan to get it the wrong information,
[27:53] Speaker 8: and we've got to let him set it back to them.
