[1:18] Speaker 1: friend matter.
[1:20] Speaker 2: It's time, oh or Johnny Dollar.
[1:27] Speaker 3: Hi there, Johnny, This year is Shide Wender Wilson.
[1:30] Speaker 2: Oh well, what can I Who did you say.
[1:33] Speaker 3: Tied Wender Wilson.
[1:34] Speaker 4: You know I'm hear bum.
[1:36] Speaker 2: Swung no call. Well wait a minute, you mean that
[1:38] Speaker 2: old friend of Durango Laramie dale Hyde. I sure do.
[1:42] Speaker 3: Listen, you've forgotten it.
[1:43] Speaker 4: I'm the man that helped you find Durrango their time.
[1:46] Speaker 2: He dispears, sure of course you did. Side. Wonder if
[1:49] Speaker 2: it hadn't been for you, he'd never found the old
[1:51] Speaker 2: coach is sure, Well, what's on your mind?
[1:53] Speaker 4: Well, if you should just happen to move you out
[1:57] Speaker 4: here to Bumspung where Johnny, I think I could show
[2:00] Speaker 4: you something make your eyes pop out.
[2:03] Speaker 2: All your sidewinder, is this? Is this an insurance matter? Yeah,
[2:08] Speaker 2: you don't see God be calling on you. If it
[2:10] Speaker 2: wasn't you, what's it all about? Well, we'll tell you
[2:12] Speaker 2: when you get you. Well, now, sidewinder, are you waiting
[2:15] Speaker 2: for you?
[2:15] Speaker 5: Durragle, Frank Josh?
[2:17] Speaker 2: Well, now wait a minute, sidewinder, hmm. Bob Bailey in
[2:31] Speaker 2: the Intriguing Adventures of a Man with the Action packed
[2:34] Speaker 2: Expense account America's fabulous freelance insurance investigator, as truly Johnny Dollar,
[2:46] Speaker 2: with your permission, we'd like to talk shop for just
[2:48] Speaker 2: a moment. CBS Radio Shop recently, one of the foremost
[2:52] Speaker 2: publications in the broadcasting field, pulled four hundred and sixty
[2:55] Speaker 2: five critics and editors, the question which radio network programs
[2:59] Speaker 2: do you do you rate? Tops When the answers from
[3:02] Speaker 2: these four hundred and sixty five experts were tabulated, the
[3:04] Speaker 2: final ratings were, to put it mildly, overwhelmingly one sided.
[3:09] Speaker 2: Total honors accorded CBS Radio programs exceeded those of all
[3:13] Speaker 2: the other networks combined. Let's put it another way, The
[3:17] Speaker 2: final verdict of hundreds of critics, reviewers, and editors was
[3:20] Speaker 2: that CBS Radio had more top shows than all other
[3:23] Speaker 2: networks put together. CBS Radio was pleased naturally at the
[3:27] Speaker 2: result of the poll, but not surprised. Great programming is
[3:31] Speaker 2: no accident. It's long been a policy of this network
[3:34] Speaker 2: to devote every effort to maintaining highest broadcast standards, to
[3:38] Speaker 2: making sure CBS Radio listeners here the best entertainment, the
[3:41] Speaker 2: most authoritative information. Whatever listening fares for you, you can
[3:46] Speaker 2: be sure you're hearing the best when you're tuned to
[3:48] Speaker 2: CBS Radio. And now act one of yours, truly. Johnny
[3:53] Speaker 2: Dollar expense account submitted by Special Investigator Johnny Dollar to
[4:12] Speaker 2: Floyd's of England, North American Office, Hartford, Connecticut, following as
[4:16] Speaker 2: an account of expenses incurred during my investigation of the
[4:18] Speaker 2: Fairweather Friend matter. All of Durango's insurance was handled by
[4:28] Speaker 2: Floyd's of England, so that would have to be the
[4:30] Speaker 2: company that Sidewinder was talking about expense count out on
[4:34] Speaker 2: one a dollar twenty for a taxi to Floyd's headquarters
[4:36] Speaker 2: in Hayford and the office of George Reid. Whoa, this
[4:39] Speaker 2: is a switch, Johnny, you are coming here, George. I
[4:42] Speaker 2: just got a call from that town out in Oklahoma
[4:44] Speaker 2: with the unlikely name of bum Spun, the old Indian name.
[4:48] Speaker 2: I understand it means bad spring, bad water. Yeah, it
[4:51] Speaker 2: was from a friend of Durango Laramie Dalhart's an old
[4:54] Speaker 2: character by the name of Sidewinder Wilson. You know, of
[4:56] Speaker 2: course the Durango was here a few days ago, here
[4:59] Speaker 2: in Heart, and he didn't drop in to see me.
[5:01] Speaker 2: He dropped in to pay the forty five hundred dollars
[5:03] Speaker 2: premium on that insurance he carries for the benefit of
[5:06] Speaker 2: his niece, Carol Dalhard. He must think an awful lot
[5:09] Speaker 2: of that girl. Yeah, oh, I wouldn't what, George, that
[5:13] Speaker 2: Carol's a living dollars if I were ever to think
[5:16] Speaker 2: seriously getting married. Well, believe me. Oh, what's the hitch
[5:20] Speaker 2: does old Durango Jake? Oh Jack? Where from it? Hey?
[5:24] Speaker 2: Tell me? Did he pay off that premium? And the
[5:26] Speaker 2: usual brand new hundred dollar bill. Yes, and as usual
[5:29] Speaker 2: he peeled them off for all. It was big enough
[5:31] Speaker 2: to choke a horse. Johnny. Why that man carries so
[5:34] Speaker 2: much cash around with him? Now, what did this fellow
[5:37] Speaker 2: Wilson call you about, Sideline? It wouldn't tell me. Well,
[5:40] Speaker 2: I'll wait. There was a robbery murder case out there
[5:44] Speaker 2: a while back, in the little town of Fairweather. Oh,
[5:46] Speaker 2: that's a few miles north of Enat, Oklahoma. What happened?
[5:49] Speaker 2: It was the messenger carrying some negotiable securities to the
[5:52] Speaker 2: small bank they're in Fairweather. Ah, you get stuck for
[5:55] Speaker 2: insurance on both the man and the securities, only on
[5:58] Speaker 2: the messenger. The securities were returned by home, either the
[6:02] Speaker 2: bank or the police out there, ever found out. Funny?
[6:05] Speaker 2: Do you suppose that's what Sidewinder called me about it?
[6:08] Speaker 2: There's any one way to find out, Johnny, which is
[6:11] Speaker 2: to say that Floyd's of England will pay my expenses.
[6:13] Speaker 2: Well now within reason, of course. Eh. Oh, Why I
[6:16] Speaker 2: kid about it, Johnny? That free wheeling expensive with you?
[6:18] Speaker 2: Oh sure, juice sounded so you don't trust me? Well
[6:23] Speaker 2: of course I do. Oh, oh you should, George. I'll
[6:26] Speaker 2: be in touch. Expense account at them two ninety seven
[6:33] Speaker 2: thirty transportation. The plane dropped me off at Enid, Oklahoma,
[6:37] Speaker 2: shortly after six pm. I had them three two dollars
[6:39] Speaker 2: even for some food. I had them four a fifty
[6:42] Speaker 2: bucks deposit on the drive your own car. I drove
[6:45] Speaker 2: north on Highway eighty one. Then, after some twenty seven miles,
[6:48] Speaker 2: and after crossing the Salt Fork of the Arkansas, which
[6:52] Speaker 2: much to my surprise, had a trickle of water, and
[6:54] Speaker 2: I turned left on the rough dirt road leading to
[6:56] Speaker 2: bump Spock. Finally there was the same two or three
[7:01] Speaker 2: acres of poor barren sandy soil, the ramshackle house and
[7:05] Speaker 2: the remains of a barn leaning entirely on the timbers
[7:08] Speaker 2: that helped to prop it up. And on in front
[7:11] Speaker 2: were the same two sad looking cows, the old and
[7:15] Speaker 2: weather of eaten horse, a friendly, mangy, toruthless hound who
[7:19] Speaker 2: shook himself as he got up out of the dust
[7:21] Speaker 2: and proceeded to assert his authority. And I still couldn't
[7:25] Speaker 2: figure why Durrango, who was worth millions and oil royalties,
[7:28] Speaker 2: had ever chosen to settle down on this lonely desolate spot.
[7:32] Speaker 2: And yet thanks to Carol, his attractive niece. The inside
[7:36] Speaker 2: of that huge, unpainted house was clean, modern, well furnished.
[7:40] Speaker 2: I wanted that Carol would show up, but I saw
[7:43] Speaker 2: no side of the sleek convertible she always drove, swinging
[7:47] Speaker 2: open the sagging wire gate. I wondered at the agent
[7:49] Speaker 2: Maxwell parked at one side belonged to sidewinder Wilson. I
[7:53] Speaker 2: didn't have to wind up a log. Hey, you crazy
[7:57] Speaker 2: old coat.
[8:00] Speaker 6: Sidewider, what the same hill's the matter with you? Less
[8:08] Speaker 6: than your wild old character. Put that thing down and
[8:11] Speaker 6: I'll start throwing some letter around myself.
[8:14] Speaker 3: Thirty eight eleven.
[8:15] Speaker 4: Squeezer, you're you no shirt, honey, you wouldn't stand chance.
[8:20] Speaker 2: Well, now, what's the big idea?
[8:22] Speaker 4: I just wanted to show you that when Durango leaves
[8:25] Speaker 4: me in charge of his rant, he leaves.
[8:27] Speaker 3: A good hand.
[8:28] Speaker 4: And also I wanted to do to feel real welcome
[8:31] Speaker 4: around here.
[8:31] Speaker 6: Yeah, but.
[8:33] Speaker 3: Are you, Johnny boy?
[8:35] Speaker 2: I'm still in one piece, No, thanks to you, the
[8:38] Speaker 2: crazy way you and Durango have him making somebody feel
[8:41] Speaker 2: welcome around here. Where is he?
[8:43] Speaker 4: By the way, First he went to hut for to
[8:46] Speaker 4: pay up on his insurance. Then he flew down to Washington.
[8:50] Speaker 4: Oh what's for to pay upon his income texts? I
[8:53] Speaker 4: wanted to make sure he got him in the right hand.
[8:55] Speaker 2: Well, no, he didn't have to go to Washington for that.
[8:58] Speaker 4: He feels it makes it easier that way. He just
[9:00] Speaker 4: carries long, big one of money and lets him take
[9:04] Speaker 4: whatever he think is right.
[9:05] Speaker 2: Oh no, now, listen, sidewinder, Eh, did you call me
[9:09] Speaker 2: in connection with that bank messenger who was killed down
[9:11] Speaker 2: a fairweather? I understand the securities he carried were returned
[9:15] Speaker 2: to the bank.
[9:16] Speaker 4: Yes, sure, they were shielded up in the big end
[9:18] Speaker 4: room and laid on the front doorstep of that bank.
[9:21] Speaker 4: And what I figure, Johnny, You figure that if I
[9:23] Speaker 4: can find out who sent them back the securities, I'll
[9:26] Speaker 4: have a lead on the killer. That's right.
[9:29] Speaker 2: And Johnny, I know who sent them back? You too?
[9:34] Speaker 2: Yeah you're sure?
[9:36] Speaker 4: Yeah?
[9:37] Speaker 2: Well who sidewinder me?
[9:39] Speaker 7: Johnny?
[9:40] Speaker 2: What issue mean?
[9:54] Speaker 3: Fact?
[9:54] Speaker 5: Too?
[9:54] Speaker 7: Off?
[9:55] Speaker 2: Yours truly, Johnny Dollar? In a moment, Are you going
[9:58] Speaker 2: to write that letter today or put it off until
[10:01] Speaker 2: tomorrow or maybe the day after? How about that spring
[10:04] Speaker 2: suit you plan to have altered? Will you take it
[10:06] Speaker 2: to the tailor tomorrow morning, bright and early, or will
[10:09] Speaker 2: the week, somehow glide by while the suit just hangs
[10:12] Speaker 2: on in your closet. If you're a confessed procrastinator, you
[10:15] Speaker 2: are not unique. The putting off habit can be mild
[10:18] Speaker 2: or chronic, but some matters, serious matters, are highly dangerous
[10:21] Speaker 2: to assign to manyana. One of the most important of
[10:24] Speaker 2: these is getting protection from crippling killing polio. When life
[10:29] Speaker 2: saving soft vaccine was first introduced in nineteen fifty five,
[10:32] Speaker 2: it was hailed as a major medical discovery. Yet at
[10:35] Speaker 2: the beginning of this current year, some ninety eight million Americans,
[10:39] Speaker 2: the majority of our population, had not received even one inoculation.
[10:44] Speaker 2: Why had all these people failed to take the simple
[10:46] Speaker 2: measures necessary to gain protection from polio? If you were
[10:49] Speaker 2: among them this year, don't take a chance. Don't put
[10:52] Speaker 2: off those polio shots any longer. Get in touch with
[10:55] Speaker 2: your family doctor or local health department right away, and
[11:00] Speaker 2: no act too off yours truly, Johnny Dollar and the
[11:03] Speaker 2: Fairweather friend better.
[11:13] Speaker 4: On in the house, John need not tell you about it.
[11:15] Speaker 2: I just want to get this straight. Sideliner, the bank
[11:18] Speaker 2: messenger down there in Fairweather was hell of the murdered. Yeah,
[11:21] Speaker 2: the securities he carried were stolen by the killer. Then
[11:24] Speaker 2: they were returned to the bank. That's right, and I'm
[11:26] Speaker 2: the one who returned sideliner. You now, look, don't tell
[11:31] Speaker 2: me that you're the one.
[11:34] Speaker 4: Do you think that I'm the one to kill that messenger.
[11:36] Speaker 2: I didn't say that, but that's what you were thinking.
[11:38] Speaker 2: Eating Well, you said yourself that whoever returned.
[11:41] Speaker 3: Whoever left him back at the bank.
[11:45] Speaker 2: You stand real still, Jenny. Oh come on, I'll put
[11:49] Speaker 2: that thing down, sidewin. Look, would you listen to me?
[11:53] Speaker 4: And maybe you even better stop talking, or that sidewinder
[11:56] Speaker 4: red or snake coming towards you might take it into
[11:58] Speaker 4: his you know, yeah, I can hear him, you know,
[12:04] Speaker 4: whilst I get a bead on him with this study
[12:10] Speaker 4: abe rising one eye, not tell that, and I'll just
[12:16] Speaker 4: cut off his rattles and add him to my collection.
[12:21] Speaker 2: Oh brother, thanks, No wonder they call you sidewinder.
[12:25] Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the four hundred and twenty seven rattles I've
[12:30] Speaker 4: taken off these warmage. I just don't like them, Johnny.
[12:34] Speaker 4: They eat like diamondbacks. These sidewinders around here. Sneak up
[12:37] Speaker 4: on him, man, just like that dirty sneake had kill
[12:40] Speaker 4: the bank messenger, And you know why he done it, Johnny.
[12:44] Speaker 2: You still haven't told me who is it.
[12:46] Speaker 4: Was to collect that insurance on him?
[12:48] Speaker 2: That's who? Oh, yes, sir, the.
[12:50] Speaker 4: Man that killed him was his hair what you call
[12:53] Speaker 4: his venue, fishy air?
[12:56] Speaker 2: How do you know, sidewinder?
[12:57] Speaker 3: Because I lived on the.
[12:58] Speaker 4: Parilweather that is when I ain't up here looking after
[13:01] Speaker 4: Drago's free And that's how come I know that Claud
[13:05] Speaker 4: Needles that was a messenger left his insurance to that.
[13:08] Speaker 4: No count nephew. Isn't that Bonnie Gifford? First her down?
[13:12] Speaker 2: Barney Gifford? Huh? Yeah?
[13:13] Speaker 4: So what i'd done was talk it over with Durrango
[13:16] Speaker 4: and Carol Doll Heart.
[13:17] Speaker 2: Where is Carol's side?
[13:19] Speaker 4: Hey, I've been waiting for you dash that Johnny. Oh,
[13:22] Speaker 4: she'll be around. You can't sweet on her, ain't she?
[13:26] Speaker 8: What? Ye?
[13:27] Speaker 4: Don't you try and fool me, Johnny boy? And you
[13:30] Speaker 4: know how she feels about you too. And if you
[13:32] Speaker 4: don't think Durango knows, well, I'll tell you this.
[13:36] Speaker 2: You say you talked it over with, I'll tell you
[13:38] Speaker 2: it is. Johnny. Durrango finds that you've.
[13:40] Speaker 4: Been out here and went back to Hartford without hitching
[13:43] Speaker 4: up with Carol.
[13:44] Speaker 3: Well, I'll tell you she's.
[13:46] Speaker 4: Liable to shot gun you into it if he catches
[13:49] Speaker 4: you around here. And don't you try to tell me
[13:51] Speaker 4: you wouldn't like being married.
[13:52] Speaker 5: To her too.
[13:54] Speaker 4: Okay, okay, joy me and Durrangle and Carl.
[14:00] Speaker 6: Johnny to see Caro, I'm glad to see.
[14:04] Speaker 3: Oh then don't just stand there kids, you.
[14:09] Speaker 2: Think I need a great evidy co.
[14:16] Speaker 3: O, don't stop Johnny too long? Give you ragle cor
[14:25] Speaker 3: genius drop that.
[14:28] Speaker 4: Yeah, sure he'd have that shot done up.
[14:34] Speaker 3: Been enough a long time, John, I thought you were
[14:37] Speaker 3: never coming back here. I'm here, so let's make up
[14:42] Speaker 3: for lost time.
[14:43] Speaker 4: Oh why not, Johnny don't want to hear what I was.
[14:52] Speaker 7: Knock here?
[14:52] Speaker 4: If you don't cut loose from each other there, you
[14:54] Speaker 4: know what I'll do.
[14:55] Speaker 3: I won't right out of here. I in the telegram
[15:00] Speaker 3: A going. I'll tell him you were making out.
[15:03] Speaker 9: Michael's all alone inside of his house.
[15:05] Speaker 4: And if they don't bring him out.
[15:06] Speaker 9: Here to get too too, Verri, well, why don't you
[15:09] Speaker 9: mind your own business?
[15:10] Speaker 3: Well, I don't go. Why don't you go somewhere and
[15:14] Speaker 3: get along.
[15:19] Speaker 2: I'm going right down fair Weather and no, no, no,
[15:22] Speaker 2: just settle down there.
[15:23] Speaker 3: Side why, I'll settle down John with you any time,
[15:28] Speaker 3: any place.
[15:30] Speaker 2: Carold, You're the only girl I know who makes me
[15:32] Speaker 2: wish sometimes I was a marrying kind.
[15:34] Speaker 3: But now listen, I bet I can make you the
[15:35] Speaker 3: marrying kind. Johnny, you like to give.
[15:38] Speaker 7: Me a chance.
[15:40] Speaker 4: I'm leaving right now.
[15:41] Speaker 2: No you aren't, Sidewin, I won't let him go. Just
[15:44] Speaker 2: be sensible for a minute while return to John. I
[15:47] Speaker 2: mean about this murder chick.
[15:48] Speaker 7: And when we finished talking about it, we'll see.
[15:51] Speaker 3: Well, then let me tell you about it. It won't
[15:53] Speaker 3: take me so long.
[15:54] Speaker 9: And side why, I means start make no silly eyes,
[15:56] Speaker 9: or I'll let you have one right between them.
[15:58] Speaker 4: Well, I still think I ordered, so.
[16:00] Speaker 3: Do I, as long as you're already well, listen, John.
[16:07] Speaker 9: When mister Needles was killed, Sidewinder wanted them to make
[16:10] Speaker 9: him a cop down there in fairwe him or.
[16:12] Speaker 4: Even juice deperty, so as I should go out and
[16:14] Speaker 4: hunt for that killer. Claude Needles was a friend of mine,
[16:17] Speaker 4: but the.
[16:17] Speaker 3: Police said no, they didn't need him, didn't want me. Sure.
[16:21] Speaker 3: We talked it over about who could ever do a
[16:24] Speaker 3: thing like that? And that's when.
[16:25] Speaker 4: I remembered Barney Gifford would get the money from Cords
[16:29] Speaker 4: and shore though.
[16:30] Speaker 9: I told Sidewinder I'd have a date with Bonnie and
[16:33] Speaker 9: that would give him a chance to go through Bonnie's
[16:35] Speaker 9: house and look for the security and I find him
[16:37] Speaker 9: Johnny under a loose board in the fore Yes.
[16:40] Speaker 4: So when he come home, I last showed him and
[16:43] Speaker 4: I tied him up, and I took him and locked
[16:46] Speaker 4: him up in the.
[16:46] Speaker 3: Tool shit on my page.
[16:48] Speaker 2: You didn't turn him over to the police or the cheek.
[16:51] Speaker 9: That little old heck town told Sidewinder that he interfered
[16:53] Speaker 9: in the case, he'd lock him.
[16:55] Speaker 3: Up, hard Wingle just before he left to go to Hartford.
[17:00] Speaker 4: Always has to be there right on time. And know
[17:02] Speaker 4: that insurance payment, Yeah, I know. Well that's when d
[17:04] Speaker 4: Wrangles had to call you up on.
[17:05] Speaker 9: The phone, Sidewinder.
[17:09] Speaker 3: I thought that was your idea, No Drangles.
[17:12] Speaker 4: And also we're getting Johnny out here to see you
[17:16] Speaker 4: get wha sure?
[17:19] Speaker 9: Well, who does Drango think he is trying to run
[17:22] Speaker 9: my life that way?
[17:23] Speaker 3: What kind of a trick is that to pull up
[17:27] Speaker 3: just you wait until he gets back here?
[17:29] Speaker 2: Is that my cue to leave these parts? Girls?
[17:31] Speaker 3: Well, it's sadly. Oh no, of course not, Johnny. But
[17:39] Speaker 3: where are.
[17:40] Speaker 2: Right now, sidewinder? Where is this Barney? Giffrid? Locked up
[17:44] Speaker 2: my two shed? Well? Who's looking after him?
[17:47] Speaker 3: Wait here?
[17:47] Speaker 4: I told him not to let on to the police.
[17:49] Speaker 2: You sure he can handle a man like Giffred? Yes, side,
[17:54] Speaker 2: Maybe we'd better drive on down that well.
[17:56] Speaker 4: Sure, sure, but we lined to that home probably drengles

[18:06] Speaker 3: You don't mean that, Johnny. I bet Drangle really would
[18:09] Speaker 3: thank you?
[18:10] Speaker 4: Mary me, Johnny, Johnny care.
[18:19] Speaker 3: Oh why don't you stay on that? I'd mind it.
[18:22] Speaker 3: What's the matter?
[18:25] Speaker 4: That was old Peach? Yeah, Barney got loose, like to
[18:30] Speaker 4: killed old Pecha. Oh no, and now Barney's coming here,
[18:35] Speaker 4: coming from me to kill me?
[18:42] Speaker 2: Act three of yours, truly, Johnny Dollar, in a moment,

[19:41] Speaker 2: Have you tried to Pepsy lately?
[19:47] Speaker 7: No?
[19:47] Speaker 2: Act three of yours truly, Johnny Dollar? Okay, then if
[19:54] Speaker 2: Finny Giffert's coming here, we'll be ready for him. We'll side.
[19:58] Speaker 2: You aren't afraid of him, are you?
[20:00] Speaker 3: It's a bad one, Johnny.
[20:01] Speaker 2: But if Sidewinder was able to sub you in.
[20:03] Speaker 4: Before I caught him off guard? Johnny, he didn't have
[20:06] Speaker 4: no gun then, but he has now. He took Old Peace.
[20:09] Speaker 3: And Bonnie a deadly shot. He's on the good thing.
[20:11] Speaker 3: He can't say about it.
[20:12] Speaker 4: And don't you see it's dark outside. No, if we
[20:15] Speaker 4: stay around here inside the house, we'll be like a flucker.
[20:18] Speaker 4: Shouldn't look.
[20:19] Speaker 2: Yeah, but I don't think we'll stay inside.
[20:21] Speaker 3: You mean we've just run away because.
[20:24] Speaker 2: No, No, how long ago did he get away from petch.
[20:27] Speaker 4: Who Peach says it was more than an hour ago.
[20:29] Speaker 2: And we haven't any time to waste. Somebody gonna do, Johnny,
[20:31] Speaker 2: I know what you're gonna do. Carol, get out of here,
[20:34] Speaker 2: go on back to Weena. Tell the police. By the
[20:36] Speaker 2: time they can get up here, Sidewinder and I will
[20:38] Speaker 2: either have things under controller, well, then they can take over.
[20:41] Speaker 3: Why don't your phone please.
[20:42] Speaker 2: Because I'm telling you to go on down there.
[20:45] Speaker 3: You're just trying to get me away from here, aren't you.
[20:47] Speaker 2: That's right?
[20:47] Speaker 9: No, Johnny, I can choo just as good as you
[20:50] Speaker 9: inside Winder and there's plenty of guns in the background.
[20:52] Speaker 2: No, Carol, that doesn't make any difference.
[20:54] Speaker 9: You think I'm gonna leave you here with a killer
[20:56] Speaker 9: after old sidewinderd it's body times you with him.
[20:59] Speaker 3: He'll try to kill Carol, would you. I won't go, Johnny,
[21:02] Speaker 3: I won't leave.
[21:03] Speaker 2: Okay, Okay, we're just wasting time. I haven't seen any
[21:07] Speaker 2: car lights out on the road. But that doesn't mean.
[21:09] Speaker 10: That that's right, mister, It doesn't mean up thing.
[21:15] Speaker 2: The front door had been pushed open by the barrel
[21:17] Speaker 2: of a high powered rifle that slowly fan the three
[21:19] Speaker 2: of us. I knew that if I made a move
[21:21] Speaker 2: to draw my handgun, if Sidewinder took a step towards
[21:24] Speaker 2: thirty thirty on the table, and if Barney was the
[21:27] Speaker 2: excellent shot that Carol said, he was all right.
[21:30] Speaker 10: Put your hands up and come walking out.
[21:31] Speaker 2: This door.
[21:32] Speaker 3: Listen, why do give it?
[21:33] Speaker 2: Do like I see? Come on, Carol side wonder.
[21:40] Speaker 10: Come on, come on, I'll try anything, all right, not
[21:44] Speaker 10: so brave now that I got the advantage, all you, sidewinder.
[21:47] Speaker 4: All right, if you got to kill somebody, kill me,
[21:50] Speaker 4: you leave them home.
[21:51] Speaker 10: Now that they know all about me, that, sir, I'm
[21:56] Speaker 10: gonna kill all of you like I killed old Pete.
[21:58] Speaker 3: Now you keep your daddy hands off of me.
[22:03] Speaker 10: You mop, Carol, So you're not carrying a gun. I
[22:09] Speaker 10: know that sidewinder never carries it, but you do, don't you, mister? Thanks,
[22:17] Speaker 10: and I think I'll use it to kid you. So
[22:19] Speaker 10: if you want to put your hands down or pray.
[22:22] Speaker 2: On sidewinder, you think maybe this is retribution for that
[22:28] Speaker 2: killing you did today, Johnny. Yeah, when I first got here.
[22:33] Speaker 2: You remember, I.
[22:36] Speaker 10: Don't know what you're talking about, mister, But I'm not
[22:38] Speaker 10: gonna waste any time money.
[22:40] Speaker 3: Shut out, Carol.
[22:42] Speaker 10: You're gonna go first, and you and last of all, sidewine.
[22:50] Speaker 10: What's that?
[22:51] Speaker 3: Gets a wrapper? Gets back up the sidewind?
[22:54] Speaker 2: No, No, it's over next to Barney.
[22:58] Speaker 4: What I can't see where I'll kill it?
[23:02] Speaker 2: Where is right here?
[23:08] Speaker 3: Oh? But that that snake.
[23:12] Speaker 2: Oh thanks, Sidewinder.
[23:14] Speaker 4: Sure, I'm sure glad I shaved these rivals, Johnny what, Yeah,
[23:20] Speaker 4: so am I. But I never would have remembered them
[23:23] Speaker 4: if you hadn't reminded me about killing that snake.
[23:32] Speaker 2: You know something. I hated to leave that place, to
[23:36] Speaker 2: leave Carol. It's whateverally mean. But there was another phone call,
[23:40] Speaker 2: Sidewinder answer and yep it was from Durango falling from Enid.
[23:45] Speaker 2: Durango was so tickled to learn I was still around
[23:47] Speaker 2: that he promised to come out to the ranch as
[23:49] Speaker 2: fast as he could.
[23:49] Speaker 4: Yeah, Surespa. Sure he can pick up the preacher. Well
[23:56] Speaker 4: much as I love that Gal.

[25:00] Speaker 2: from one cleaning to the next, is nothing else?
[25:02] Speaker 10: Cat, that's right.
[25:03] Speaker 2: I remember my seven grandmothers saying Lysol makes your favorite
[25:07] Speaker 2: cleaner work better, including many that claim to sanitize. I'm
[25:11] Speaker 2: sorry you're lanning to speak English by listening to commercials.
[25:13] Speaker 2: And Lysol comes in regular or pine fragrance for as
[25:17] Speaker 2: little as twenty nine cents? How much is that in

[27:12] Speaker 1: It turns out that that reference to Bumspum in the
[27:17] Speaker 1: last episode was more than just a callback, but kind
[27:22] Speaker 1: of setting up this episode. This is another one of
[27:26] Speaker 1: those where I think that its strength is just having
[27:31] Speaker 1: entertaining characters and Johnstone having a good time playing with
[27:36] Speaker 1: those characters, but kind of to the detriment of the mystery,
[27:41] Speaker 1: or more like the adventure in this case, you end
[27:45] Speaker 1: up with essentially a very abbreviated bet with dollar battling
[27:50] Speaker 1: the bad guy. However, I did like the Rattlesnake callback.
[27:57] Speaker 1: I had not put any significant in the rattles in
[28:01] Speaker 1: the pocket, so I was pleasantly surprised the way that
[28:05] Speaker 1: played out. Still, I do wish we'd gotten a little
[28:08] Speaker 1: bit more plot or action, but I guess you can't
[28:12] Speaker 1: have everything all right. Listener comments and feedback now, and
[28:16] Speaker 1: we have some comments on YouTube regarding the like me
[28:20] Speaker 1: matter listener rights. The Flamingo Hotel and Cosino was originally
[28:26] Speaker 1: open in nineteen forty six by Mobster Bugsy Siegel. I
[28:30] Speaker 1: just watched a twelve episode documentary series about Las Vegas
[28:35] Speaker 1: two months ago. Thanks so much, appreciate the background information.
[28:39] Speaker 1: Jeffrey right, so quaint. I never heard that version of
[28:43] Speaker 1: a Pepsi advertisement. Funny how those order communcials use scenes
[28:48] Speaker 1: and tunes. We don't see that nowadays. I have to
[28:54] Speaker 1: admit that I am not a connoisseur of modern commercials,
[28:59] Speaker 1: but those I've seen you, I don't tend to hear
[29:03] Speaker 1: those anymore. And it's not like those were something that
[29:07] Speaker 1: you only heard in the fifties and sixties. I remember
[29:11] Speaker 1: hearing the commercial jingles into the eighties and nineties, back
[29:18] Speaker 1: when I was a kid. You know, the best part
[29:21] Speaker 1: of waking up is folgers in your cup, just for
[29:24] Speaker 1: the taste of it. Diet coke. Have you had your
[29:27] Speaker 1: break today? Those are the ones that just, you know,
[29:30] Speaker 1: pop into my head. And now I've started on replay,
[29:34] Speaker 1: although I don't think those jingles were quite as good
[29:39] Speaker 1: as the be Sociable Pepsi ad. Well, now it's time
[29:44] Speaker 1: to think our Patreon supporter of the day, and I
[29:48] Speaker 1: want to thank for a back of the cat Lady
[29:51] Speaker 1: Patreon supporter since August twenty twenty four, currently supporting the

[30:39] Speaker 4: At all night.
[30:41] Speaker 1: Maybe we shouldn't paid a stoic.
[30:44] Speaker 11: It was suppose that we joined the Young Defenders to
[30:48] Speaker 11: show guys like oh Man Green, we don't want them
[30:50] Speaker 11: in this spot of time, right, yeah, just so well,
[30:53] Speaker 11: then come on le's mirror a cold store window, hey,
[31:00] Speaker 11: and then we'll put the rest of it.

[31:05] Speaker 11: Show us all uncle and mess around with the Young
[31:07] Speaker 11: Defenders and let us stop painting quick, give me a
[31:13] Speaker 11: small bruce, I'm gonna make a picture.
[31:16] Speaker 10: Of hey.
[31:21] Speaker 2: Boor stop eating talk.
[31:29] Speaker 5: Big you you're coming to night to spoil an old
[31:33] Speaker 5: man's talk.
[31:39] Speaker 10: His head.
[31:40] Speaker 2: Come on, Billy, help me. He's all out of me.
[31:43] Speaker 10: Come on, they'll right it out here.
