[3:33] Speaker 2: was preparing to close. A few customers were at the

[7:53] Speaker 10: Definitely, as he leaped, he covered his head with his arms,
[7:57] Speaker 10: actually broke the glass with him, and he landed outside,

[8:55] Speaker 17: So wonder this gunman wasn't dead on arrival with these
[8:58] Speaker 17: bulletphones in him?
[9:00] Speaker 6: Well, is there a chance he'll regain consciousness even for
[9:03] Speaker 6: a moment or so.
[9:04] Speaker 17: Well, that's what we're trying to do. Right now, he's
[9:14] Speaker 17: going fast? Or try doctor, try right, there's some of
[9:19] Speaker 17: the hypodemic adrenaline. Yes, alcohol on his chest. Nos, thank you,
[9:33] Speaker 17: there'll be a few seconds. Yeah, he's responding. You better

[11:18] Speaker 6: thank you, doctor. I hope it's enough.
[11:35] Speaker 7: No, no, brace, I won't do it. You put me
[11:38] Speaker 7: on the spot'll be crazy.
[11:39] Speaker 6: Peg.
[11:39] Speaker 7: They got descriptions of me over half the time by now.
[11:42] Speaker 7: I heard it on at six o'clock news.
[11:44] Speaker 6: Why do you have to start blasting away?
[11:46] Speaker 7: Do you want me to know sit there and wait
[11:48] Speaker 7: for the cops.
[11:49] Speaker 6: What about my description?
[11:50] Speaker 7: Do you think they haven't got that. Who can describe
[11:53] Speaker 7: a dame? Besides, you were in the car all the time.
[11:58] Speaker 7: Gt Me talk now. Look, there's no two ways about it.
[12:03] Speaker 7: We've got to steal a car and lamb out of here.
[12:05] Speaker 6: If the whole town's hot, we'll be safer holding up
[12:07] Speaker 6: in here.
[12:08] Speaker 7: We'll take that chance. All my life, I've been taking
[12:11] Speaker 7: that extra chance nobody else takes. It's always paid off. Besides, Babe,
[12:18] Speaker 7: they got a murder rap on both of us, me
[12:21] Speaker 7: not me. Don't kid yourself. You've been in from the start.
[12:26] Speaker 7: I fry, you fry, and that's the nodds on bed.
[12:30] Speaker 7: If we stay here, okaybe my girl? Where do I
[12:38] Speaker 7: get the car? The Farley and Meghan Circus is playing
[12:42] Speaker 7: a stand just across the river, right next to the
[12:45] Speaker 7: Arcade amusement park. So there's a big lot, free parking,
[12:49] Speaker 7: no attendance. Take the ferry right next to this block
[12:52] Speaker 7: across go to the lot. There's always some jerk leaves
[12:56] Speaker 7: his key in a car. Watch for it, heist it
[12:59] Speaker 7: fast and get back here.
[13:13] Speaker 6: I'll go a receptionist. Cubbly, you be in this waiting room.
[13:15] Speaker 6: Peter's here just in time. We got a line on
[13:17] Speaker 6: the killer's car with a band. We can hold that. Peters,
[13:20] Speaker 6: the other crook talked before he died. Oh, the want
[13:23] Speaker 6: to escape is brace Hondo with a hideout on the
[13:26] Speaker 6: twenty four hundred block on Front Street, very close to
[13:29] Speaker 6: the river, right next to the arcade Ferry House. Twenty
[13:32] Speaker 6: four hundred block Now, except for one garage, the rest
[13:35] Speaker 6: of the block on both sides is old brownstone houses
[13:38] Speaker 6: and warehouses separating squad. Yes, and we won't have enough
[13:43] Speaker 6: of our own men, so we'll have the local police
[13:44] Speaker 6: lend us a detail and have him bring along a
[13:47] Speaker 6: loud speaker and spotlights it. It'll be dark shortly. I
[13:50] Speaker 6: want at least fifty men so we can cover all
[13:52] Speaker 6: the exits in that block. All men are signing of
[14:09] Speaker 6: their stations, pet yesty moving in a position mile. They'll
[14:12] Speaker 6: start searching every building on the block at exactly seven.
[14:15] Speaker 4: Five ten minutes from now. He told them to play
[14:19] Speaker 4: it careful, stay out of side right, and when we
[14:22] Speaker 4: close the hall it wow.
[14:26] Speaker 6: Go going into the brownstone house number twenty four to ten.
[14:33] Speaker 6: There was a girl about that age driving the getaway.
[14:36] Speaker 4: One of the bank witnesses in sign when it's time
[14:39] Speaker 4: to start moving in you and I'll take that building personally.
[14:54] Speaker 16: I got a break the pack of forty eight loaded with.
[14:56] Speaker 7: Gass about times almost quarter rate. Let's go. No, no,
[15:00] Speaker 7: I need a drink. I got the where's the vital fellows?
[15:03] Speaker 7: I'm make sure the coast is clear. Hey, don't want
[15:10] Speaker 7: come there? Look down there in the shadows on the
[15:13] Speaker 7: corner a cop and there another one. Wasn't me? Brace,
[15:17] Speaker 7: I drove right off the ferry. Intend the kind of
[15:19] Speaker 7: nobody tells me? I swear it down there across the
[15:21] Speaker 7: street in that alley way more?
[15:23] Speaker 6: What do we do for last?
[15:24] Speaker 7: Our way out? We've got an arsenal and this hide out.
[15:27] Speaker 9: Brace.
[15:27] Speaker 7: I don't want to I tell you about always taking
[15:29] Speaker 7: that extra chance. I'm scared, all right, so cry a

[15:58] Speaker 9: Okay, give it up?
[16:08] Speaker 14: Pay, I got my.
[16:15] Speaker 7: Arm getting too heart stakes, We'll take a rope. We'll
[16:18] Speaker 7: have a better chance the open. No, I couldn't make
[16:22] Speaker 7: my heart Please to a pay. But I'm leaving here
[16:24] Speaker 7: behind one more person. You can haul the four alone.
[16:33] Speaker 7: Ho kid. In my regards to the cops, I ain't
[16:36] Speaker 7: no mood to deliver him personally. Fire.
[16:51] Speaker 14: Oh fire, Oh no, this is Hearty and Connor spies.
[17:01] Speaker 18: Have every exit covered. Throw your guns out and give
[17:07] Speaker 18: yourself up. We'll give you fifteen seconds.
[17:14] Speaker 14: Then we're coming in after you.
[17:19] Speaker 18: Fifteen seconds.
[17:22] Speaker 19: From now, one, two, three or five, six, seven.
[17:35] Speaker 14: Eight nine.
[17:37] Speaker 6: The roof that's hop came from outside.
[17:39] Speaker 18: Spotlights number one, two and.
[17:43] Speaker 14: Three on the roof.
[17:44] Speaker 6: Quick, one of my men hit, say, look, Hondo's going
[17:50] Speaker 6: to try to jump to the ferry building.
[17:52] Speaker 18: Keep those spotlights on the roof. Spotlight number four, stay
[17:57] Speaker 18: with Hondo.
[18:00] Speaker 6: He made it on top of a ferry slip.
[18:02] Speaker 18: The spotlights quick, all spotlights ship to the roof of
[18:05] Speaker 18: the ferry slip.
[18:07] Speaker 6: Wow, that must have been a fifteen foot leap. He's
[18:10] Speaker 6: going to try to make the ferry. It's leaving the slip.
[18:12] Speaker 18: Keep that number four spotlight on. Handle hold your fire man,
[18:17] Speaker 18: there are passengers on that boat.
[18:19] Speaker 6: Handle made it. He's on the ferry boat.
[18:21] Speaker 18: Attention ferry captain, reverse your engines and return.
[18:27] Speaker 14: To slip at once.
[18:29] Speaker 11: Attention ferry captain, reverse your engine.
[18:43] Speaker 14: Attention ferry captain.
[18:46] Speaker 18: And room your engines.
[18:48] Speaker 2: Engine room, new orders of the wheelhouse. Reverse your engines
[18:54] Speaker 2: were gone.
[18:55] Speaker 6: Back to the slip.
[18:56] Speaker 7: You go back, cap Eye, you're at that seat.
[18:58] Speaker 6: Dog. Who are you the guy with a guy?
[19:00] Speaker 7: I listen, pop Eye, signal your range room for full
[19:02] Speaker 7: speed ahead and keep going, full speed ahead.
[19:14] Speaker 6: Terry Captain's going ahead. Chief Hando must have reached the wheelhouse. Peters.
[19:18] Speaker 6: Have the police on the other side of the river.
[19:20] Speaker 6: Meet the ferry and radio the river patrol for three
[19:23] Speaker 6: fast boats immediately. We're going after him.
[19:37] Speaker 2: Okay, David, we're all aboard and cast off. Terry hasn't
[19:40] Speaker 2: reached the other side yet. Cast off, Peters. Those ferry whistles, signal,
[20:00] Speaker 2: have us cut our motor.
[20:02] Speaker 7: Cut the motor.
[20:03] Speaker 2: Polet Hush, hey, that's morse call the captain, says the
[20:14] Speaker 2: gold dove off. The ferry radio the other boats to
[20:17] Speaker 2: fan out. Throw their spotlights on the river and on
[20:20] Speaker 2: both banks. We'll take the center of the fan. Okay,
[20:23] Speaker 2: full speed back to Cobber Spy in a moment, But first.
[20:42] Speaker 4: Pepsi cola hit the spot two full glasses.
[20:45] Speaker 2: That's a lot lots more value, a lot more death
[20:48] Speaker 2: I take less when Pepsi's best. More and more among
[20:50] Speaker 2: fellows and girls, among mothers and dads, you hear that
[20:53] Speaker 2: sane and sensible question. Why take less when Pepsi's beat,
[20:58] Speaker 2: no budget, no allowance ever had a better friend than tangy,
[21:01] Speaker 2: sparkling pepsicola. Because one big twelve outs Pepsi bottle gives
[21:05] Speaker 2: you two delicious drinks. That's twice as much tangy taste,
[21:09] Speaker 2: twice as much delicious Pepsi to go just twice as far.
[21:13] Speaker 2: That's why more and more families say, why take less
[21:17] Speaker 2: when Pepsi's best. Yes, family is like yours and mine.
[21:21] Speaker 2: Families all over America they're all saying, why take less?
[21:26] Speaker 2: When Pepsi's bet pepsi cola.
[21:28] Speaker 7: So delicious and its pottle makes two drinks?
[21:31] Speaker 2: It is certainly the cola for the purchaser who thinks
[21:34] Speaker 2: everybody's drinking Pepsi.
[21:36] Speaker 4: Does compare it when the rest so much more and
[21:38] Speaker 4: so much finer?
[21:39] Speaker 6: Why take less?
[21:39] Speaker 2: When Pepsi says today tomorrow always get America's biggest cola
[21:44] Speaker 2: value take all mc carton of six big big pepsi bottles.
[21:49] Speaker 2: Insist on pepsi at the store, and say pepsi at
[21:53] Speaker 2: the fountain, Stay pepsi at the sand, Stay pepsi whenever
[21:58] Speaker 2: you reach for refreshment. Remember why, hey, class, when Pepsi's dead.
[22:04] Speaker 2: And now back to counter spy. Five breathless hours have
[22:09] Speaker 2: elapsed since Killer brace Hondo has held up the merchants.
[22:12] Speaker 2: Federal Bank and Loan Association. David Harding and his assistant
[22:16] Speaker 2: Harry Peters are slowly closing in on the fugitive murderer.
[22:30] Speaker 2: Pretty misty out here on the river, Peter see anything.
[22:35] Speaker 6: I'm so fond of, Not even the other patrol boats
[22:39] Speaker 6: in spite of my troll.
[22:40] Speaker 18: Bad Tree to minta harding patrol boat, Tree to mita harding.
[22:45] Speaker 2: Go ahead, patrol boat three.
[22:47] Speaker 14: We picked up the spot where Mondo may have gone.
[22:49] Speaker 14: Ashore got the Bombay Amusements margin jan.
[22:52] Speaker 2: Head for it, patrol bout three.
[22:54] Speaker 7: We'll join you there.
[23:10] Speaker 6: Yep, this is where Hando came. Ashore repeated trail heads
[23:13] Speaker 6: to the circus tent.
[23:15] Speaker 4: Edward call in the other boats. I'll contact the police
[23:18] Speaker 4: at the ferry slip. Have them cover all exits from
[23:21] Speaker 4: the circus. Slop and the amusement park also have some
[23:24] Speaker 4: men in plane clothes circulate.
[23:25] Speaker 7: Through the crowd.
[23:26] Speaker 6: Keep a shower, buy out. He does, now contact the
[23:28] Speaker 6: circus management and get their cooperation.
[23:43] Speaker 4: This is terrible, mister Hardy. The evening crowds beginning to collect.
[23:47] Speaker 4: That's why we haven't a minute to lose. It's pretty now,
[23:49] Speaker 4: give me a picture of the way you're set up here. Well,
[23:52] Speaker 4: the circus and the amusement park are completely on close points.
[23:55] Speaker 6: I know we've got a very exit covered, but what
[23:57] Speaker 6: about your specific layout.
[23:59] Speaker 4: Now, the amusement park us out at the end of
[24:01] Speaker 4: the point. The main entrance to the circus arena there
[24:03] Speaker 4: leads to the performers tent.
[24:05] Speaker 7: Go on.
[24:05] Speaker 4: That small entrance over there leads across an open space
[24:08] Speaker 4: to the managery tent.
[24:10] Speaker 6: Edwards, that's the minimum place. We've got about twenty more
[24:12] Speaker 6: circulating through the crown Well.
[24:14] Speaker 4: No, hey, wait a minute, what is it they're in
[24:17] Speaker 4: the arena? See that bedraggled figure.
[24:20] Speaker 7: Oh it's just a clown that No.
[24:23] Speaker 6: It's not.
[24:23] Speaker 4: He's sopping wet. That's our man. He's heading for the
[24:26] Speaker 4: exit of the menagerie tent.
[24:27] Speaker 6: Come on, bet you.
[24:38] Speaker 15: Okay, mister Harding, I've got men placed all around the
[24:40] Speaker 15: Managerie tent good Edward all.
[24:42] Speaker 4: Right, Peter the pa microphone. Believe, mister Harding. Will there
[24:45] Speaker 4: be any shooting, that's up to Hondo, mister Pardy. We'll
[24:48] Speaker 4: do our best to avoid it. I hope you can. Hey,
[24:53] Speaker 4: listen to those animals.
[24:54] Speaker 7: They're upset and scared.
[24:56] Speaker 6: All right in the microphone. We know you're in this.
[25:02] Speaker 18: We've got it surround it. I'm playing smart and give
[25:06] Speaker 18: yourself up.
[25:10] Speaker 2: The animals.
[25:11] Speaker 4: They'll get excited today. Look, our lions will loose, shooting
[25:15] Speaker 4: the locks off the animal cages. Edward one, all arm in,
[25:18] Speaker 4: where do you get your animal? Man here quick, Pondo,
[25:20] Speaker 4: we got him from now, we've got the pitch in.
[25:22] Speaker 4: Before that turqut stop finds out, the animals will lose.
[25:25] Speaker 6: Bottle Petty.
[25:37] Speaker 7: Hey, mister, where do you think you're going?
[25:39] Speaker 6: Roller coast is under repair?
[25:40] Speaker 7: Which stall it? Sis day, get out of that check
[25:42] Speaker 7: of food. You're going for a ride with me, But
[25:43] Speaker 7: the coast is under repair. I tell you at you
[25:45] Speaker 7: run it off.
[25:46] Speaker 5: Yeah, I'll miss her gun.
[25:48] Speaker 7: All right, Girley, start moving fast.
[26:00] Speaker 4: I hope they get all the animals mister honey, we'll
[26:03] Speaker 4: do our best.
[26:03] Speaker 6: Pretty all the rotten tricks. We still got Hollow's escape cover.
[26:07] Speaker 6: But you can't get off this point. Who's that Annoysem's pretty?
[26:11] Speaker 4: That's the roller coaster.
[26:13] Speaker 6: That's funny.
[26:13] Speaker 4: It's not supposed to start now, hallo.
[26:16] Speaker 6: The roller coaster. Oh he's crazy. Where can he go?
[26:19] Speaker 6: We'll find out.
[26:20] Speaker 7: Come on.
[26:32] Speaker 6: Tough spot to hard to see the upper part of
[26:36] Speaker 6: the coaster. Mister party, hows this thing built?
[26:38] Speaker 4: It's a pretty long ride all around. First long incline
[26:42] Speaker 4: starts right here, goes up to a height of about
[26:44] Speaker 4: seventy feet right at the edge of the water.
[26:45] Speaker 6: Butt huh, I can make out something now, Dave a
[26:49] Speaker 6: man in a leather jacket. It'sndo all right in the car.
[26:53] Speaker 6: Holy smoke. That the girl with him?
[26:55] Speaker 7: Girl good?
[26:56] Speaker 4: Heaven's the ticket girl from the booth here?
[26:58] Speaker 6: I don't get hondo ski. The roller coast only goes
[27:00] Speaker 6: to around and ends up right here.
[27:01] Speaker 4: You can take a high diet from the top of
[27:03] Speaker 4: this first in finding into that water. Maybe get away
[27:05] Speaker 4: from it after all in the dark.
[27:07] Speaker 6: Party, how do you stop the coaster? Yes, yes, right here,
[27:09] Speaker 6: this big weaver. It stopped Dame Honda's getting up, starting
[27:20] Speaker 6: to climb forward out of the car. Final warning shot, Peters,
[27:26] Speaker 6: come down, Han know he's firing back. Holy smoke, Peter,
[27:30] Speaker 6: you're gun. He's almost out of the car. Look out
[27:33] Speaker 6: for the girl. You got him to Come on, we'll
[27:38] Speaker 6: climb up right in time, get him and the girl.
[27:41] Speaker 4: What's that the car slipping back? Oh, something's broken. I
[27:45] Speaker 4: saw tooth wheels in the middle of the track. They
[27:47] Speaker 4: act as a break.
[27:49] Speaker 6: Coming right down here in fasts we are crash. Stand
[27:51] Speaker 6: back and pray for that girl. Come on, take a
[28:07] Speaker 6: look at the girl, Peter. How is she?
[28:10] Speaker 4: He just faded, no cuts or anything. Look how about
[28:14] Speaker 4: handle here he is in the wreckage.
[28:19] Speaker 6: This shot did a dave. He was wild and a
[28:22] Speaker 6: wild animal. Peter. This is one case we can close
[28:25] Speaker 6: without a trial. I can't say I'm sorry it took
[28:29] Speaker 6: us six hours.
[28:43] Speaker 2: When your friends drop in, be generous, but be thrifty too.
[28:47] Speaker 2: There are plenty of delicious pepsicola. Pepsis be twelve ounce
[28:51] Speaker 2: bottle gives you not just one sparkling glassful, but two.
[28:55] Speaker 2: Get a cart in the six and serve twelve delicious drinks. Yes,
[28:59] Speaker 2: Pepsi is America's biggest col of value. You get twice
[29:02] Speaker 2: the tangy taste, twice the refreshment, twice the pepsi. So
[29:07] Speaker 2: why take less when pepsi is dead. Whenever you reach
[29:11] Speaker 2: for refreshment, remember pets, the call up hits the bots glasses.
[29:15] Speaker 2: That's a lot lots more value, a lot more deaty,
[29:19] Speaker 2: take less when tune in every Tuesday and Thursday, same time,
[29:24] Speaker 2: same station to counter Spy. Listen on Thursday for the
[29:28] Speaker 2: exciting Counterspy case of the Murdering Messenger.
[29:32] Speaker 4: The fast talking man who posed as himself to impersonate
[29:36] Speaker 4: someone else, the strange corpse that was discovered a quarter
[29:39] Speaker 4: mile deep in the earth, and the river boat which
[29:42] Speaker 4: carried a cargo of intrigue that exploded in the Crescent City.
[29:47] Speaker 2: He sure to tune in on Thursday for case of
[29:50] Speaker 2: the Murdering Messenger on counter Spy. Tonight's counter Spy program
[30:01] Speaker 2: originated in New York and feature Don McLaughlin and Mandel Kramer,
[30:06] Speaker 2: with music by Jesse Crawford. Counterspy is the Philip States
[30:10] Speaker 2: Laarde production for Pepsicola. Enjoy some Pepsi ice Cold Tonight.
[30:31] Speaker 1: Welcome back Well, Counterspy very openly, and I think quite
[30:37] Speaker 1: successfully tries a story that's a bit of a departure
[30:41] Speaker 1: for them. I think that when you think of Counterspy,
[30:45] Speaker 1: you tend to imagine these sort of very long playing
[30:52] Speaker 1: out cases, but here you get a real action thriller
[30:56] Speaker 1: playing out in the course of six hours. Embrace makes
[31:00] Speaker 1: an intimidating villain, although I would say I probably if
[31:05] Speaker 1: I were a criminal, would not want to be paired
[31:08] Speaker 1: with him, as he's a bit unpredictable and tries things
[31:12] Speaker 1: that only he ends up surviving. Race illustrates. I think
[31:17] Speaker 1: that there is a limit to how far just pure
[31:23] Speaker 1: audacity and nervness will take you. But still it's quite
[31:29] Speaker 1: a ride while it lasts. All right, Well, now it's
[31:33] Speaker 1: time to thank our Patreon supporter of the day. Thank
