[2:22] Speaker 3: on the days before Christmas, Broadway dances along to carols
[2:26] Speaker 3: that flow from sequined loudspeakers. The kids mash their noses
[2:30] Speaker 3: against the plate glass, lick it and watch, and it's
[2:33] Speaker 3: all there. The mechanical clown, the tin man dancing a
[2:36] Speaker 3: jig in a tin box, the toy army precisely the scale,

[2:47] Speaker 3: odds are better that dreams will come true. So make
[2:51] Speaker 3: a wish on a neon star.
[2:59] Speaker 2: And in the short time before Christmas, creatures were stirring
[3:02] Speaker 2: at police headquarters. There's the pattern of tired fees and

[3:08] Speaker 2: in desk drawers or according the Dixie cups, or slipped

[7:14] Speaker 4: I present to you, sir, Lieutenant Danny Kloba and myself,
[7:19] Speaker 4: Sergeant Gino Tatagliaglia.
[7:22] Speaker 2: That name has a familiar ring.
[7:24] Speaker 4: Or perhaps because I was an innocent abroad and the
[7:27] Speaker 4: guided in the footsteps of Mike Shrek tour in Philadelphia
[7:31] Speaker 4: last summer. I brew myself to it with my vacation money.
[7:34] Speaker 2: It's not for that I remember you, sir.
[7:35] Speaker 5: It's for the word that has come to me that
[7:37] Speaker 5: you are indeed the brains behind the brains the new
[7:40] Speaker 5: York Police Force. Oh come, mister Shrek, you mustn't believe
[7:45] Speaker 5: all I could have used you, sir, on my famed widow,
[7:48] Speaker 5: Charles Sedney's case. When having trailed the Desperado across the
[7:52] Speaker 5: one point eight three miles of the Philadelphia camden Bridge,
[7:56] Speaker 5: I was caught in the seductive toilsko.
[8:00] Speaker 4: The brain of the man, the memory for details to
[8:03] Speaker 4: have made a part of them, the size of the
[8:05] Speaker 4: Philadelphia camden Bridge.
[8:06] Speaker 5: Gentlemen, enough of nostalgia to work? Was I who phoned
[8:11] Speaker 5: this into you? Being now on the trail of lance Lash,
[8:16] Speaker 5: master criminal of them all, I was led to this
[8:18] Speaker 5: place only to find buddy Malpaw the there do well millionaires.
[8:23] Speaker 2: But hush, the man is coming around. What happened?
[8:28] Speaker 5: Man?
[8:29] Speaker 2: Tell us what happened? You gently, sir, who are among
[8:34] Speaker 2: friends well from the police, mister Malpaw, try to tell
[8:36] Speaker 2: us what happened. I'll try, fellows. I had arranged such
[8:41] Speaker 2: a pleasant evening a date with Rima nine, not the
[8:45] Speaker 2: Rama nine from Bolivia, but the miss Rima nine, who
[8:47] Speaker 2: was staying at the Stacey Arms or honest Melpo. Rima
[8:51] Speaker 2: was to meet me here at nine point thirty. However,
[8:53] Speaker 2: at precisely at nine the door bell rang. I went
[8:56] Speaker 2: to open it. There was no one there, no one,
[8:59] Speaker 2: no one, prank, I thought. I started back in the department.
[9:05] Speaker 2: Suddenly that the pain, the awful pain, screaming through my skull.
[9:11] Speaker 2: There was no prank, I assure you, no, Where is it?
[9:17] Speaker 2: Where is it? Where is what?
[9:18] Speaker 4: Mister Melpa It's gone? It was here in this case,
[9:22] Speaker 4: it's gone.
[9:23] Speaker 2: What's gone, mister Melops, I prized it more than the
[9:26] Speaker 2: dual scimitar of Genus Khan.
[9:29] Speaker 4: The jewel cimatar of Ginger's Khan, the jewel what's going
[9:33] Speaker 4: on here?
[9:33] Speaker 2: Sergeant?
[9:34] Speaker 4: Read your notes, man, read your notes, and.
[9:40] Speaker 2: Watched the sergeant as he considers the attitude of the
[9:42] Speaker 2: distressed man, the desolation of him, the sergeant's compassion, understanding
[9:48] Speaker 2: the most precious thing of Malpaw's life, the jeweled scimitar
[9:51] Speaker 2: of Ginger's Khan was gone, now vanished, lost, straight, stolen,
[9:55] Speaker 2: parlo and the sergeant's gentleness and the knowledge of it
[9:58] Speaker 2: caught up with Melpaw, took hold, displaced everything, until it
[10:02] Speaker 2: was only emptiness, void, vacuum, in the space nothing. Finally,
[10:07] Speaker 2: the ne'er do well Millionaire's rejection of it and turn now.
[10:13] Speaker 2: The sergeant to Taglia nods sagely opened the door farm
[10:17] Speaker 2: and leave, going out of the stacey arms, and the
[10:27] Speaker 2: clerk at the desk lifts a corner of his lip
[10:29] Speaker 2: and an eyebrow, and the sergeant mentions the name of
[10:31] Speaker 2: a woman he wants to see. The long ride up
[10:34] Speaker 2: on the elevator, walk down the carpeted corridor, the sprig
[10:39] Speaker 2: of Christmas Holly above the brass door knocker.
[10:42] Speaker 4: This time we'll knock Ernie.
[10:52] Speaker 6: Hi, fellows, please come in. You'll forgive the way I look.
[11:00] Speaker 2: We're from the police, Miss nine.
[11:01] Speaker 4: Yeah, we got some questions to ask you.
[11:03] Speaker 6: A piece of find me. I picked up a coat
[11:05] Speaker 6: a zoo I always wear at this hour. It's a
[11:08] Speaker 6: rishing hours. You may call me Reama.
[11:11] Speaker 4: I'm Gino. He's Danny.
[11:12] Speaker 2: It's about buddy Malpalmis nine.
[11:14] Speaker 4: Yeah, he was beaten and robbed this evening.
[11:17] Speaker 6: You may sit here beside me.
[11:18] Speaker 4: He is none of the sultry siren stuff. Miss nine.
[11:22] Speaker 4: Didn't you have a date with mister Malpot this evening? Yes?
[11:25] Speaker 6: I did at nine thirty.
[11:26] Speaker 4: That check, sergeant, what time did you get to the
[11:29] Speaker 4: malpal mansion?
[11:30] Speaker 6: At nine thirty. I rang the bell and rang it.
[11:32] Speaker 6: No one answered. I was so disappointed with an educational
[11:36] Speaker 6: evening like that.
[11:37] Speaker 4: In sight educational.
[11:39] Speaker 6: Buddy was going to show me the jeweled scimitar of
[11:41] Speaker 6: Ginger's connor, the real one, not the replica.
[11:45] Speaker 2: Oh, there's a replica at.
[11:47] Speaker 6: The Museum of Far Eastern Law. I often go there
[11:49] Speaker 6: in my idle moments and browse around the Far Eastern things.
[11:53] Speaker 2: You're a strange one, reama, yes, please go on.
[11:57] Speaker 6: That's how I met Buddy at the museum. They play
[12:01] Speaker 6: strange tricks. Yeah, now, if you'll pardon me so, I.
[12:09] Speaker 4: Ll go right ahead. We'll just make ourselves let's go.
[12:12] Speaker 4: You know, we are sorry, mister Zoeic, that we have
[12:26] Speaker 4: made you open your museum to us at such a
[12:28] Speaker 4: late hour. It is always a pleasure, Sergeant, to indulge
[12:31] Speaker 4: the whims of the culture, though they be policemen like you,
[12:36] Speaker 4: mister Zoig, not at all. And here, gentlemen, looming above you,
[12:42] Speaker 4: is the statue of the fabulous terrorizer Gingers come clothed
[12:46] Speaker 4: in the cap of Tibetan flair. The jeweled garnerprocaded picking silk,
[12:51] Speaker 4: all of it donated to us most generously by Buddy
[12:54] Speaker 4: Malcar to complete our far Eastern collection.
[12:57] Speaker 2: And the sword in his hands a replica.
[13:00] Speaker 4: Only I hear replica of the jeweled simitar of Ginger's
[13:03] Speaker 4: Cohn and mister Malpau's generosity dissolved when it reached tell.
[13:08] Speaker 2: Us about the cemetery, mister zoil.
[13:09] Speaker 4: Were the deepest pleasure Gingers tore it from the wounded
[13:13] Speaker 4: hands of Jella, let him his parching, bitter enemy Danny.
[13:17] Speaker 4: Then for centuries it was lost. Three centuries Danny vanished
[13:21] Speaker 4: to reappear again in the renaissances as an ornament worn
[13:24] Speaker 4: about the slim waist of the little creature.
[13:27] Speaker 2: For you, Danny, if their cemeter were real, mister Zowick,
[13:30] Speaker 2: how much would it be worth?
[13:32] Speaker 4: Conservatively? Conservatively half a millionaires, give a little, take a
[13:37] Speaker 4: little half a million? Huh, that's all we need to know.

[14:31] Speaker 3: With Amos and Andy. Tomorrow Night again, Amos will be heard
[14:35] Speaker 3: explaining the meaning of the Christmas Spirit to his little
[14:38] Speaker 3: daughter Arbadella.

[15:03] Speaker 3: the Masdas and Broadways transluts arrange themselves in merry thoughts
[15:08] Speaker 3: suitable for Christmas past, Christmas Present, Christmas future. Broadway walks by,
[15:14] Speaker 3: glances up, smiles, hurries to buy the last minute gift
[15:17] Speaker 3: for the last minute friend. Crosby sings the tune That's
[15:20] Speaker 3: in your Heart the corner Santa Claus winks, and the
[15:23] Speaker 3: Golden Girl stops you, asks which way to Gimbals invite
[15:27] Speaker 3: you to come along and show her the budget term

[16:29] Speaker 4: You you shouldn't say those things.
[16:32] Speaker 2: He's right, you know, Doctor Sinsky is only saying what
[16:34] Speaker 2: all of us feel. We've already initiated proceedings for an
[16:37] Speaker 2: award for bravery beyond the call of.
[16:39] Speaker 4: Duty, Danny, Doctor Sinsky, dear true friends, I know that.
[16:45] Speaker 4: What May I go?

[17:52] Speaker 4: have come face to face with land Slash and lived
[17:54] Speaker 4: to all about it?
[17:56] Speaker 2: Give the devil his due? Yes, now do you mind
[18:00] Speaker 2: telling us what happened?
[18:01] Speaker 5: I came here to my rooms sparsely furnished, you'll admit,
[18:05] Speaker 5: but the way I like it, no fur blows to
[18:08] Speaker 5: distract my attention.
[18:10] Speaker 2: I needed to think.

[18:28] Speaker 5: I know, But what happened to night as is my
[18:31] Speaker 5: one before I retired. I looked under my bed, gentlemen,
[18:33] Speaker 5: and there he was lan Slash.
[18:36] Speaker 4: So you got on the tour and started a fight
[18:38] Speaker 4: with him.
[18:39] Speaker 2: Yes, it was nip and tuck under there. But if
[18:41] Speaker 2: the devil is why did he come here? Mister Shrek?
[18:43] Speaker 2: He thought I.

[21:00] Speaker 6: I get in this cab. Time to get me the
[21:02] Speaker 6: airport in a hurry. Why should I stay in this
[21:04] Speaker 6: lonesome tolm on? What I had in my hands was
[21:06] Speaker 6: worth half a million what I've had in my hands?
[21:12] Speaker 5: Go on?
[21:14] Speaker 6: So Cabby tilts his cap to me. I see the
[21:17] Speaker 6: union label. I figured he's friendly, trustworthy, loyal. I make
[21:21] Speaker 6: chit chat with him one where am bang? He turns
[21:23] Speaker 6: onto a side street, grabs me by the throat, wrestles
[21:26] Speaker 6: me for the scimitar. He looks at us and breaks
[21:29] Speaker 6: it over my head. And you know who he was?
[21:33] Speaker 6: Who he really was not, not none other Lance Slash,
[21:41] Speaker 6: the master criminal of them all.
[21:44] Speaker 2: Love her.
[21:46] Speaker 6: Imagine poor little me in the clutches of Lancelash.
[21:51] Speaker 4: Oh there, don't think about it.
[21:55] Speaker 2: You've let her go out.
[21:56] Speaker 4: You know. Read your notes, man, Just read your notes.
[22:00] Speaker 2: Yea, and leave there. Go away, find a place at
[22:05] Speaker 2: police headquarters and close the door to the outside. Think
[22:08] Speaker 2: about it. You and Sergeant to Taglia put it down
[22:11] Speaker 2: and add it up, and it doesn't come out. So
[22:14] Speaker 2: Sergeant tod Taglia puts it down and adds it up.
[22:17] Speaker 2: Then it comes out. Go to a place now, back
[22:20] Speaker 2: to the museum, and tell it all to a man
[22:23] Speaker 2: you'd talked to before.
[22:24] Speaker 4: I can't believe it. I just cannot believe.
[22:26] Speaker 2: You. Better believe it, mister Zik, because that's the only
[22:28] Speaker 2: way it makes sense.
[22:29] Speaker 4: That's right. If the cinetar stolen from Buddy Malpaw was
[22:31] Speaker 4: a phony, then the one, the statue of Ginger's Khan,
[22:34] Speaker 4: this holding is the real one. The ingeniousness of a man, Mailpa.
[22:38] Speaker 4: What better way to keep his treasures safe and to
[22:40] Speaker 4: put it before the eyes of the world.
[22:41] Speaker 2: We want to see again, mister of course, of course.
[22:44] Speaker 4: You do this way, this way, ah, this is very
[22:46] Speaker 4: gratifying to me. You know this publicity. People from all
[22:49] Speaker 4: walks of life now drop in to catch a peak
[22:51] Speaker 4: of the statue of Ginger's Khan holding the scimitar. And
[22:54] Speaker 4: just ten minutes ago I had to warn a cab
[22:56] Speaker 4: driver to keep his cab driver. Yes, it's interesting, fellow
[22:59] Speaker 4: too interested. We better hurry, Danny. Yeah. Now, look, look,
[23:06] Speaker 4: I don't understand me change his corn. He's dressed like
[23:09] Speaker 4: a cab driver. He's holding a city guide book in
[23:12] Speaker 4: his hand. The scimitar is gone. It's impossible, maybe, but
[23:16] Speaker 4: it's happened. The cab driver changed clothes. Maybe we can
[23:19] Speaker 4: catch him down here. And maybe that man is sitting
[23:26] Speaker 4: on the steps sing, let's ask him. Hey, hey, mister, hello.
[23:30] Speaker 4: Did you see your man come out of here a
[23:32] Speaker 4: few minutes ago?
[23:33] Speaker 2: I guess I did.
[23:34] Speaker 4: I have been sitting here for the last hour.
[23:35] Speaker 2: Did you notice anything strange about any of them? The
[23:38] Speaker 2: way one of them was dressed. Let me see.
[23:41] Speaker 4: This man had on a fur cap in a brocaded rope.
[23:43] Speaker 4: He was carrying a cimitar.
[23:45] Speaker 2: Oh, sure I saw him.
[23:46] Speaker 4: I didn't pay him no mind, though, I just figured
[23:48] Speaker 4: it's from California. Let's go Gino, Danny Annie, I think
[23:54] Speaker 4: I got it? God what get in the corn? I'll
[23:55] Speaker 4: tell you all about it.
[23:56] Speaker 2: Where are we going to see?
[23:57] Speaker 4: Mike Swich the bolt had a miracle that taped the Philadelphia.
[24:01] Speaker 4: I think we're are trails and.
[24:18] Speaker 5: It.
[24:18] Speaker 2: It's Lieutenant Clover, mister Shrek, and Sergeant at Taglia be
[24:22] Speaker 2: with you in a minute.
[24:25] Speaker 4: We're still waiting, mister Shrek.
[24:30] Speaker 2: Come in, Come in. I was just tidying up.
[24:35] Speaker 5: Going someplace. Mister Shrek, back to Philadelphia. I'm afraid afraid
[24:42] Speaker 5: land Slash has outwitted me again.
[24:44] Speaker 4: Oh has he now?
[24:46] Speaker 5: But I don't get him after the holidays. Sit down,
[24:50] Speaker 5: mister Shrek. Tell us how you're going to get land Slash.
[24:56] Speaker 5: I'm going to the Congo after the holidays. Oh why
[25:01] Speaker 5: are you going to do that, mister Shrek. Rumor has
[25:04] Speaker 5: already drifted up from the belt of the sudden appearance
[25:07] Speaker 5: of the long last emerald eye of the Goddess of series.
[25:11] Speaker 5: If I know lance Lash, that's where he'll be after
[25:14] Speaker 5: the holidays.
[25:16] Speaker 4: He will Willie. Let me ask you a question, mister Shrek,
[25:19] Speaker 4: at your service, how long.
[25:21] Speaker 5: Did you say the Philadelphia Camden Bridge was one point
[25:25] Speaker 5: eight three miles.
[25:27] Speaker 4: See, why did I tell you? Danny?
[25:29] Speaker 2: Go ahead, Geno, correct him.
[25:30] Speaker 4: The length of the Philadelphia Camden Bridge is one point
[25:34] Speaker 4: eight one miles. Did you hear me, mister Shrek? I
[25:39] Speaker 4: had you, Mike Shrek would never make an arrow like
[25:41] Speaker 4: that land slash.
[25:44] Speaker 5: The master criminal of them all, I presume at your service, gentlemen,
[25:48] Speaker 5: look in the closet, Danny, right, Hi, it's here, all right,
[25:53] Speaker 5: the costume of Gender's camp. And of course you left
[25:55] Speaker 5: the disguise of the cab driver at the museum.
[25:58] Speaker 2: Compliments to you, sir.
[26:00] Speaker 4: Came to the house of Buddy Malapo after the cimitar
[26:02] Speaker 4: was stolen. You traced at the Riema nine disguised as
[26:05] Speaker 4: a cab driver. You found her with it making her flight.
[26:08] Speaker 4: You discovered it.
[26:09] Speaker 5: Was a fake, That is correct. Of course you know
[26:11] Speaker 5: what happened. Then I deduced the same thing you did.
[26:14] Speaker 5: The genuine scimitar was at the museum. Where is it now,
[26:17] Speaker 5: mister lash?
[26:18] Speaker 2: It right is here?
[26:22] Speaker 4: Watch you'll cut your a piece. I'll take him.
[26:24] Speaker 5: Donny Plants, don't don't say uncle uncle uncle.
[26:33] Speaker 4: Yeah. Look, Danny, see I removed his ballheaded to pay.
[26:40] Speaker 4: And why do we have a full head of hair.
[26:43] Speaker 4: What a phony uire Land slash.
[27:04] Speaker 2: G you know, come on, you know, wake up?
[27:12] Speaker 4: You fell asleep Gino huh yeah yeah, I must have.
[27:16] Speaker 2: Known no calls?
[27:17] Speaker 4: Uh yeah from no no calls.
[27:22] Speaker 2: What's the matter with it?
[27:23] Speaker 4: You know? Danny? Yeah, I had a dream, Danny. I
[27:29] Speaker 4: was a big hero.
[27:31] Speaker 2: I went out on a case with you, a dreamer.
[27:35] Speaker 2: I want to tell you something. You know what, when
[27:38] Speaker 2: something happens to you, something real, then it's over. You
[27:41] Speaker 2: know what? You have left? Memory?
[27:44] Speaker 4: Yeah, Danny, that's right.
[27:45] Speaker 2: One of dreams over and you can remember it. You
[27:48] Speaker 2: have the same thing, a memory. That's all anything is, geno,
[27:53] Speaker 2: a memory.
[27:54] Speaker 4: Then I got my Christmas wish and Danny, sure you did?
[27:59] Speaker 2: Go on hold now?
[28:00] Speaker 4: Sure, Merry Christmas, Danny.
[28:06] Speaker 2: Merry Christmas. J The bells ring out on Broadway, the
[28:35] Speaker 2: horns blow, and there's laughter. The translux spells out peace
[28:40] Speaker 2: on earth, goodwill to men. You read it and believe it,
[28:46] Speaker 2: because it's Christmas time, the time we're believing in miracles.
[28:51] Speaker 2: The crowd pushes you along and you're part of it.
[28:54] Speaker 2: It makes you happy. It's Broadway, the gaudiest, the most violent,
[29:02] Speaker 2: the lonesomest mile in the world Broadway My Beat.
[29:24] Speaker 3: Broadway's My Beat stars Larry Thor as Detective Danny Clover,
[29:29] Speaker 3: with Charles Calvin as Tartaglia and Jack Krushian as Muggavan.
[29:34] Speaker 3: The program was produced and directed by Elliot Lewis, with
[29:37] Speaker 3: musical score composed and conducted by Alexander Courage. In tonight's story,
[29:42] Speaker 3: Lamont Johnson was heard as Mike Shrek, Georgia Ellis as
[29:46] Speaker 3: Riemon nine, Howard McNair as mister Zoich, and George Nie
[29:51] Speaker 3: as Buddy Malpaul. Ships loaded with vital cargoes for our

[30:14] Speaker 3: of FCC license can get an emergency license to ship

[30:23] Speaker 3: Radio Association, five Beakman Street, New York City. Bill Anders

[30:37] Speaker 3: is Jack Penny Time Sunday nights on the CBS Radio Network.
[31:33] Speaker 1: Welcome back. For the interest of full disclosure, I am
[31:38] Speaker 1: using a different microphone now. I should still sound very listenable.
[31:45] Speaker 1: But if you detect any difference, it's because of this
[31:47] Speaker 1: new microphone. I actually only anticipate using it for a
[31:52] Speaker 1: few episodes. My preferred microphone I'm ordered a replacement, but
[31:58] Speaker 1: it was going to take a few days and I
[32:00] Speaker 1: needed to get these podcasts recorded before Christmas. So if
[32:04] Speaker 1: I'm sounding a little different to you, that might be why.
[32:07] Speaker 1: All right, well, I have to wonder why they went
[32:10] Speaker 1: ahead and credited the character as Mike Shrek when Sergeant
[32:15] Speaker 1: Tartaglia incisively exposed him as really being Lance Lash. There
[32:23] Speaker 1: are general rules against writing it was all a dream episodes,
[32:27] Speaker 1: but to me this is an exception. The writers, first
[32:30] Speaker 1: of all, do everything possible to make it clear that
[32:34] Speaker 1: this was a dream. If you actually thought this case
[32:37] Speaker 1: was real, I don't know what to tell you. It's
[32:41] Speaker 1: a great story idea for Christmas to give a beloved,
[32:44] Speaker 1: supporting character a chance to be the star, and it's
[32:48] Speaker 1: done in a way that respects him as a character,
[32:51] Speaker 1: even while pulking fun at the sort of stories he loved,
[32:55] Speaker 1: which really sound more like say a comic strip or
[33:00] Speaker 1: out of a pulp magazine. Because of all these wild
[33:04] Speaker 1: adventure characters and no emotional stakes, Yet it never disrespects
[33:11] Speaker 1: Seant Tartaglia. There's never a moment when it feels like
[33:15] Speaker 1: we're laughing at him as some ridiculous figure. Now, I've seen,
[33:19] Speaker 1: particularly on television programs and some movies, where people will
[33:24] Speaker 1: have a fantasy and they are so egotistical and they
[33:30] Speaker 1: they think so much of themselves that they really buy
[33:34] Speaker 1: into the dream and go around walking in the real
[33:37] Speaker 1: world as if the dream were real. Could you imagine
[33:41] Speaker 1: Sergeant Greco from Rocky Jordan having this vivid of a dream.
[33:47] Speaker 1: You never convinced him he wasn't the new Captain of Police.
[33:50] Speaker 1: But Geno Tartaglia is a lot more down to earth
[33:54] Speaker 1: and kind of realized as soon as he woke up
[33:57] Speaker 1: that what had been a dream, because he has that
[34:01] Speaker 1: sense of who he is. And I like Danny's statement
[34:03] Speaker 1: equating the dream and the reality of the cases Danny's
[34:08] Speaker 1: souls and in a meta way, it's true because all
[34:12] Speaker 1: these adventures are fictional. Of course, that's not so much
[34:16] Speaker 1: true in real life, and most dreams aren't. Even ones
[34:20] Speaker 1: like this aren't remembered in detail long term, unless perhaps
[34:24] Speaker 1: you write them down. But the sentiment is nice and
[34:28] Speaker 1: it shows that Danny wants to say something so that
[34:32] Speaker 1: Tartaglia will be happy on Christmas, and the truth is
[34:36] Speaker 1: that neither the audience or Danny needs Tartaglia to be
[34:40] Speaker 1: the hero he's beloved for who he is, a lovable
[34:45] Speaker 1: and caring person who brings lightness and humanity into often
[34:50] Speaker 1: grim situations. The story is a gift for giving him
[34:53] Speaker 1: a chance to sign, but without doing so in a
[34:57] Speaker 1: way that undermines the world tone of the series in
[35:02] Speaker 1: a way that makes this better than the nineteen fifty
[35:06] Speaker 1: Christmas episode. Listener comments and feedback now, and we start
[35:12] Speaker 1: over on Spotify with a comment regarding the Ruth Larson
[35:16] Speaker 1: murder case and Mechanics sixty six rights good one. And
[35:21] Speaker 1: then we have a comment on YouTube from art regarding
[35:25] Speaker 1: Broadways My Beat. Broadway Is My Beat had one of
[35:29] Speaker 1: the most distinctive literary styles of old time radio. It
[35:32] Speaker 1: was a combination of street smart lyricism and gritty film
[35:35] Speaker 1: noir darkness. The musical themes and orchestration were also distinctive
[35:40] Speaker 1: as well. They should be, having been written by Alexander Kurage,
[35:44] Speaker 1: composer of the Star Trek theme. Well, thanks so much,
[35:47] Speaker 1: appreciate your comment and that will actually do it for today.

[36:48] Speaker 7: That's right, Uster. It was just a little before three
[36:51] Speaker 7: point thirty. I was in the bus depot there waiting
[36:54] Speaker 7: for my husband. That's when I first noticed this package
[36:57] Speaker 7: lying on the bench.
[36:58] Speaker 4: Just to cross from I sing, would you go on,
[37:01] Speaker 4: please mus bring?
[37:02] Speaker 7: I didn't think anything of it at first. I went
[37:04] Speaker 7: on reading the afternoon paper, but no one came for
[37:07] Speaker 7: the package. It was just lying there was there a
[37:10] Speaker 7: long time.
[37:11] Speaker 5: How long would you say, ma'am, I mean before you
[37:12] Speaker 5: pick it up and took the lost and found clerk.
[37:15] Speaker 7: Oh, I'd say twenty minutes, half an hour, that much
[37:20] Speaker 7: at least. I left it with the young man at
[37:23] Speaker 7: the counter there, and I told him i'd be back
[37:25] Speaker 7: to see if anyone claimed it. Well, when I did
[37:28] Speaker 7: get back, that's after I had dinner with my husband Carl.
[37:33] Speaker 7: We found out what was in the package. Certainly strange.
[37:38] Speaker 1: I hope you'll be with us then in the meantime.
