[0:00] Speaker 1: Hey!
[0:01] Speaker 2: Hey!
[0:26] Speaker 3: Everybody, it's Tuesday, September 29, 2026. Welcome to the Giant Bombcast.
[0:33] Speaker 3: I'm the Big Dog, Jan Ochoa, host of this podcast.
[0:37] Speaker 3: Joining me, as always, co-captain of the ship and eater
[0:41] Speaker 3: of worlds.
[0:42] Speaker 2: Jeff Grubb. Thank you very much, Jan. Happy to be here.
[0:46] Speaker 3: Don't worry. I'm happy he's here as well. We've got
[0:50] Speaker 3: Dan the Franchise Reichert.
[0:53] Speaker 2: That's me. Hi, I'm Dan the Franchise. How are you doing, Jan?
[0:56] Speaker 3: I'm doing great because we're sailing the seven seas with
[0:59] Speaker 3: the master of the seas, the skipper himself, Jeff Bacalar.
[1:03] Speaker 2: What's up? Get on my boat, bitches.
[1:07] Speaker 1: Get that shirt in the store.
[1:10] Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
[1:12] Speaker 3: It's like the beginning of Clueless, right?
[1:15] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:16] Speaker 3: What? Doesn't she say, like, we're going shopping, bitches?
[1:21] Speaker 2: Does she? I don't know. That's Mean Girls.
[1:25] Speaker 4: That's the girl who gets run over by the bus
[1:28] Speaker 4: at the end.
[1:29] Speaker 3: Oh, right.
[1:30] Speaker 2: Spoilers for Mean Girls.
[1:32] Speaker 5: Are you getting on the boat or not?
[1:35] Speaker 3: You know what's crazy is that Mean Girls was a
[1:38] Speaker 3: movie early 2000s and then it became a musical and
[1:42] Speaker 3: then they made a movie about the musical which was
[1:44] Speaker 3: a remake of the original movie.
[1:46] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's always wild to me.
[1:48] Speaker 3: But we have the most musical man of games media.
[1:50] Speaker 3: With us, we've got the Cleveland streamer, the boy of
[1:54] Speaker 3: games media, Mike Minotti. See, it doesn't feel good. It
[1:59] Speaker 3: doesn't feel good.
[2:01] Speaker 4: It's funny you brought that quote up, because when I
[2:03] Speaker 4: was in Epcot on Saturday, somebody literally was wearing a
[2:05] Speaker 4: shirt that said, like, get in, loser. We're going to
[2:10] Speaker 4: learn about farming in the land or something. It was
[2:13] Speaker 4: a shirt for the land boat ride.
[2:15] Speaker 2: It was very good. Mike, not right now.
[2:18] Speaker 3: My bad.
[2:20] Speaker 4: I thought it was my time to talk for a
[2:22] Speaker 4: little bit.
[2:24] Speaker 3: That's not how this show works. How this show works
[2:29] Speaker 3: is that after I introduce you guys, I thank everyone
[2:32] Speaker 3: for watching at home and supporting us here at GiantBomb.com.
[2:36] Speaker 3: And Jeff Grubb, how can folks best support us over
[2:39] Speaker 3: here at GiantBomb.com?
[2:41] Speaker 2: They can go to giant bomb.com slash join, become a
[2:44] Speaker 2: premium member. If you do, you're supporting us. You're supporting
[2:47] Speaker 2: independent games media. You're ensuring you have a cool place
[2:49] Speaker 2: to hang out on the internet where people are cool.
[2:52] Speaker 2: Like you, you also get ad free versions of our
[2:55] Speaker 2: shows and, And thank you to everybody who supports us
[2:57] Speaker 2: because it also gets you premium exclusive content. We got
[3:00] Speaker 2: a whole bunch of stuff in the works, right, Jan?
[3:02] Speaker 2: We got sclusies all over the place. I actually need
[3:05] Speaker 2: to fix one of those premium sclusies. Kat Jervman, episode seven,
[3:10] Speaker 2: supposed to come out yesterday. I fucked up some of
[3:12] Speaker 2: the audio. I will get that up and out after
[3:14] Speaker 2: this podcast. Jeff Bacalar, how do you feel about Kat Jervman? Oh,
[3:19] Speaker 2: my God.
[3:20] Speaker 5: I think about it a lot to the point where, folks,
[3:25] Speaker 5: I'm not going to lie.
[3:27] Speaker 2: I think I want to do another one. Oh, okay.
[3:30] Speaker 1: Well, that game again, from this, from the start, just
[3:35] Speaker 1: run it back, baby.
[3:36] Speaker 2: I'm going to keep all my Dillo.
[3:38] Speaker 3: I mean, we could just relay baton over.
[3:42] Speaker 5: Listen, you guys are the triple a, uh, Blake club team.
[3:46] Speaker 5: I'm just down here in the minors playing single.
[3:48] Speaker 2: No, no, you're the premium. You're the premium. Yeah. You
[3:51] Speaker 2: are the premium.
[3:52] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[3:52] Speaker 2: I don't know.
[3:56] Speaker 3: You're like the Savannah Bananas right now, because I think
[3:58] Speaker 3: that is in higher regard to MLB for some people.
[4:02] Speaker 2: It's got more emotion, that's for sure.
[4:03] Speaker 5: I think as a premium product, it should be better,
[4:09] Speaker 5: and therefore more fun to play. I don't know, sometimes
[4:14] Speaker 5: I'll pop into a grub dealer, whatever it's called, and
[4:18] Speaker 5: I'll just... i'll i'll like wince because i don't like
[4:22] Speaker 5: seeing someone i uh respect getting uh kind of beat
[4:25] Speaker 5: up and i kind of thank you i can't look
[4:27] Speaker 5: at this rough.
[4:28] Speaker 1: Oh you're not built for mainline blight club.
[4:30] Speaker 3: It's yeah not gonna get easier yep it's not gonna
[4:32] Speaker 3: get any easier but it's just going to constantly be
[4:35] Speaker 3: an easy supporting experience over here at giant bomb.com slash
[4:39] Speaker 3: join if you're premium because not only do you get
[4:41] Speaker 3: cat jerfman you're getting another covert season of uh blight
[4:44] Speaker 3: club also known as Super Shark. This is the run. Mike,
[4:48] Speaker 3: don't worry. I hear it's going very well. The testing
[4:50] Speaker 3: is working. We've got all the top people onto it.
[4:54] Speaker 3: We got beakers now. We expensed beakers for all the testing.
[4:58] Speaker 2: We got beakers.
[4:58] Speaker 4: We got butts and honeydew. We're going to get all
[5:01] Speaker 4: the cakes ironed out. It's going to be great. Is
[5:05] Speaker 4: there a new one coming out today, Jan?
[5:06] Speaker 2: Is that right?
[5:07] Speaker 3: Yes, a new one is coming out. A new one
[5:08] Speaker 3: is coming out today.
[5:09] Speaker 2: Maybe this is the run, everybody. But don't worry.
[5:15] Speaker 3: We've not only applied science to This is the Run.
[5:17] Speaker 3: We've previously applied science to Portal Pals with Mary Kish.
[5:20] Speaker 3: You can go watch that where Mike Minani plays through
[5:23] Speaker 3: Portal 2 with our dear friend Mary Kish. And speaking
[5:25] Speaker 3: about dear friends, we did a premium series called Marry
[5:29] Speaker 3: Me Tomodachi with our dear friend Abby Russell. Go watch
[5:32] Speaker 3: those things. You also get ad-free podcasts. You can go
[5:35] Speaker 3: on giantbomb.com slash join or YouTube Premium. And also, folks,
[5:39] Speaker 3: like we've said, we always have a bunch of premium
[5:42] Speaker 3: stuff in the can. We're working on stuff. If you're
[5:45] Speaker 3: a premium member, you get access to the beta of
[5:49] Speaker 3: the game tracker that Chuck is building. We see y'all
[5:52] Speaker 3: rating games all the time. A lot of fun, cool
[5:54] Speaker 3: stuff over there. And, folks, I got a new premium
[5:58] Speaker 3: series dropping right now that we've worked on. It is
[6:02] Speaker 3: called Goop Troop.
[6:04] Speaker 2: Jeff... Grubb, do you want to talk about this? Yeah, yeah.
[6:08] Speaker 2: Dan and I decided to play through Goof Troop for
[6:10] Speaker 2: the Super Nintendo. What? That's up on the website right now.
[6:14] Speaker 2: This is a lie. It's not a lie to us. Jan,
[6:17] Speaker 2: not even a series.
[6:18] Speaker 1: It's a one-off full playthrough. It's live right now on
[6:20] Speaker 1: the site.
[6:21] Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, that's right. That's right. No, they're messing with me.
[6:23] Speaker 2: Is that a shadow drop? Is that what you call
[6:25] Speaker 2: a shadow drop? I think it just worked out. It
[6:28] Speaker 2: just lined up. Just take a look at the site.
[6:30] Speaker 4: No, because I almost was in tears when I told
[6:33] Speaker 4: Grubb that I wanted to play it with him. There's
[6:35] Speaker 4: no way he would just go.
[6:37] Speaker 2: It's here.
[6:37] Speaker 3: No.
[6:39] Speaker 2: It's there. I'm looking at it. They don't like you.
[6:42] Speaker 2: I see this. We had some time for content. You're
[6:49] Speaker 2: busy at Disney. They're actually not lying. They're not lying.
[6:53] Speaker 2: I'm looking at it. What the hell? Two hours and change? Yeah, wait, Mike,
[7:00] Speaker 2: are you really going to sit around like this? What? What? Oh,
[7:05] Speaker 2: my God! Did you have fun? Huh? Did it feel good?
[7:09] Speaker 1: Yeah, Shinji Mikami made it.
[7:11] Speaker 2: It was actually a lot of fun. We played co-op.
[7:13] Speaker 2: We had a lot of good teamwork and stuff. The
[7:15] Speaker 2: goop troop. He was goopy goop, but I was diddy goop.
[7:19] Speaker 4: I joked about doing this with Vinny, and then when
[7:21] Speaker 4: I told Grub, I was just joking.
[7:24] Speaker 2: I want to play it with you, Fred. I would
[7:25] Speaker 2: never do that. Oh, my God. I need Vinny. We're
[7:28] Speaker 2: going to play Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers together or something. Oh,
[7:33] Speaker 2: my God. Dan is even wearing the happy birthday.
[7:37] Speaker 4: Mickey ears that I got him as a present.
[7:41] Speaker 2: Oh, Mike.
[7:43] Speaker 5: You know I would never do this to you. Mike,
[7:46] Speaker 5: I don't even understand what's happening, and I feel so bad.
[7:50] Speaker 2: What did I do? I.
[7:52] Speaker 2: I just want you to know I would never make
[7:54] Speaker 2: you feel like this.
[7:55] Speaker 3: Mike, I need to be clear. When I caught wind
[7:58] Speaker 3: of this and I was told, I specifically told them,
[8:02] Speaker 3: he's going to be so upset. Not mad.
[8:03] Speaker 2: He's going to be so upset. Jim was legitimately worried.
[8:07] Speaker 3: Mike was gone.
[8:09] Speaker 2: Mike went to Epcot, so we just had to make
[8:11] Speaker 2: some content without him. Grub, I need to know.
[8:13] Speaker 3: I need to know. Yeah.
[8:15] Speaker 2: You said you had a very important appointment yesterday.
[8:17] Speaker 3: I didn't know that you're single.
[8:19] Speaker 2: It lined up. It kind of lined up because I
[8:21] Speaker 2: did have an appointment, but then I just kind of
[8:23] Speaker 2: was like, and I'm going to be busy for the
[8:24] Speaker 2: rest of the day. And I kind of extended it. So, yeah.
[8:27] Speaker 2: You actually went through the whole thing. You got to credit.
[8:31] Speaker 1: Yeah, I took the speed run. We share a speed
[8:34] Speaker 1: run together now.
[8:35] Speaker 2: I gotta be honest, I was expecting to be way
[8:37] Speaker 2: more mad than obviously heartbroken.
[8:39] Speaker 5: Wait, because this is also me finding out about it
[8:44] Speaker 5: for the first time.
[8:45] Speaker 1: Yeah, we didn't tell anyone.
[8:47] Speaker 2: So you did this yesterday when he was still around?
[8:50] Speaker 2: When he was around? No, this was Friday when he
[8:53] Speaker 2: was at Epcot.
[8:54] Speaker 4: Oh.
[8:54] Speaker 2: I'm going back to Epcot. I'm leaving. Mike, I think
[8:58] Speaker 2: they did this, and you were back. I knew this.
[9:01] Speaker 3: I knew this would happen.
[9:03] Speaker 2: I just... This is... Man, when you guys said you
[9:05] Speaker 2: did this, I'm not going to lie.
[9:07] Speaker 4: There was some droning on about Prima or something.
[9:09] Speaker 2: Who cares? Am I right? And I was like, they're
[9:11] Speaker 2: all sitting here. I'm like, what the fuck?
[9:13] Speaker 3: What?
[9:13] Speaker 2: And I'm like, they're lying. They're joking.
[9:18] Speaker 3: Well, Mike, maybe this is a lesson to actively listen
[9:22] Speaker 3: to your co-hosts. I, uh.
[9:25] Speaker 2: Look, I just know going through Cyberdillo, I might be
[9:27] Speaker 2: lashing out. Dan will get his at some point.
[9:31] Speaker 1: I did bring this up to Grubb as an idea.
[9:34] Speaker 1: And he says, Dan, this might be the best idea
[9:36] Speaker 1: you've ever had.
[9:37] Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
[9:39] Speaker 4: There's not even like a funny name for it.
[9:42] Speaker 2: It's just like the love is as good as YouTube.
[9:45] Speaker 2: The video is called Capcom's Hidden Disney Gem. I mean,
[9:48] Speaker 2: we're serious. We're serious games journalists.
[9:52] Speaker 3: We talked a lot.
[9:52] Speaker 1: About our favorite Disney memories and stuff.
[9:54] Speaker 2: It's just like a couple of friends talking about Disney.
[9:56] Speaker 2: Who was goofy and who was Max? I was Goofy. Yeah. Oh, buddy. Oh,
[10:01] Speaker 2: my God. We did talk about my favorite Goof Troop episode,
[10:04] Speaker 2: which is Rex Lies in Videotape. Rex rhymes with sex there.
[10:08] Speaker 2: It's fun that they did that.
[10:09] Speaker 1: I bought a Goofy shirt. I'm wearing a Goofy shirt
[10:11] Speaker 1: in it.
[10:13] Speaker 2: I bought a Donald shirt that was actually a woman's shirt,
[10:16] Speaker 2: so it was too tight for me. I couldn't wear it.
[10:18] Speaker 5: This would be like if they all, like, I don't know.
[10:20] Speaker 5: I can't actually know. I don't have an analogy. That's
[10:24] Speaker 5: exactly right. I don't know if it's that dramatic, but sure,
[10:27] Speaker 5: you're in the ballpark. Man, I feel terrible.
[10:31] Speaker 3: Wow.
[10:31] Speaker 2: Who knows what else they're capable of?
[10:33] Speaker 3: I feel complicit. I feel like I helped do this.
[10:39] Speaker 2: Yeah, you did. You did.
[10:40] Speaker 3: No, I didn't.
[10:41] Speaker 2: Collusion.
[10:42] Speaker 3: You guys did this all on your own.
[10:46] Speaker 2: It's just mean-spirited.
[10:48] Speaker 4: Now I want to bring it back a little, because
[10:51] Speaker 4: I see some people in chat are like, they went
[10:52] Speaker 4: too far.
[10:53] Speaker 2: It's funny. Everybody! Let's be clear. I think this is
[10:57] Speaker 2: also very funny. If I didn't think Mike would understand
[11:00] Speaker 2: that this is very, very funny, we wouldn't have done it.
[11:03] Speaker 2: They know, but yeah. Trust me.
[11:06] Speaker 4: I am on their side. I'm like, wow, I can't
[11:09] Speaker 4: believe you did this. But also, that is pretty funny.
[11:12] Speaker 1: There was a time we did a replay episode of
[11:15] Speaker 1: Castlevania Symphony of the Night while Tim was like a
[11:17] Speaker 1: Gamescom or something. Tim Turi is a huge Castlevania fan.
[11:19] Speaker 1: It was not meant to be a troll. He just
[11:21] Speaker 1: came back and he was like heartbroken. Like, why would
[11:23] Speaker 1: you guys do Symphony of the Night without me?
[11:24] Speaker 2: That's my favorite.
[11:25] Speaker 1: So me and Hanson put together the Tim Turi replay
[11:28] Speaker 1: spectacular episode. where uh it was we set up all
[11:31] Speaker 1: these tim games in a row without telling him sat
[11:33] Speaker 1: him down to play and then we like brought in
[11:35] Speaker 1: his mom and surprised like into the studio and like
[11:37] Speaker 1: surprised him everything so i don't know maybe maybe mike
[11:40] Speaker 1: you'll get a.
[11:40] Speaker 4: Special yeah maybe there we go yeah yeah.
[11:44] Speaker 5: I'm more than happy to collude with you there there
[11:49] Speaker 5: is a co-op sega genesis game that i mentioned wanting
[11:52] Speaker 5: to play with mike minotti before so okay i just
[11:54] Speaker 5: don't want.
[11:54] Speaker 1: To do that saves kingdom hearts for me That's not
[11:58] Speaker 1: going to be fun for anyone So don't do it
[12:02] Speaker 1: without me Mike, I have ideas. Mike, I have ideas.
[12:06] Speaker 2: Yeah, well, don't worry.
[12:07] Speaker 5: Let's do the three of us. Let's do something. I'm
[12:10] Speaker 5: pretty after Thanksgiving.
[12:11] Speaker 4: I don't want to hear any more about how, like,
[12:13] Speaker 4: Grubbs should escalate on Cyber Thrill, the video game that
[12:16] Speaker 4: he brought in.
[12:16] Speaker 3: This was it. This was it.
[12:17] Speaker 2: Yeah, this was it. Except it didn't seem to have
[12:19] Speaker 2: impacted at all. No, no, I've already said, I said,
[12:22] Speaker 2: I'm lashing out. Like, this was an opportunity to get you.
[12:24] Speaker 2: Dan will get his. Dan will get his. Okay. It
[12:26] Speaker 2: does seem asymmetrical, right? Like, I feel like.
[12:30] Speaker 5: It seems like an act of war against Mike for
[12:33] Speaker 5: no reason. No, no.
[12:36] Speaker 2: I hurt people, hurt people, and I'm hurting from Cyber Dylan.
[12:39] Speaker 1: Chad does bring up, they did a film in 40s
[12:41] Speaker 1: of The Rock without me, so I'm already done.
[12:44] Speaker 2: When was that? I know the Nick Cage stuff. We weren't...
[12:49] Speaker 2: I mean, I like a different version of this company.
[12:52] Speaker 2: Are you Alex Navarro?
[12:54] Speaker 1: But it still happened to me.
[12:55] Speaker 2: I mean, that shouldn't affect us. I got to get
[13:00] Speaker 2: out of jail free card. It's like 2017. How is that?
[13:04] Speaker 2: No one cares. What do you mean?
[13:06] Speaker 4: Look, I got my wish of grub playing through Goof
[13:09] Speaker 4: Troop and it's now content on the site.
[13:11] Speaker 3: So it's great. For audio listeners.
[13:17] Speaker 2: Tremendous puzzles in that game. Two of the best.
[13:21] Speaker 1: Block sliding puzzles ever in gaming history. Much harder than
[13:26] Speaker 1: anything you've seen in Zelda.
[13:28] Speaker 3: Folks at home, you can support us hurting each other
[13:32] Speaker 3: if you go to giantbomb.com slash join.
[13:35] Speaker 2: That is premium only.
[13:36] Speaker 3: That is premium only. Jeff Bacalar, you know, for people
[13:40] Speaker 3: that want to sign up for premium now, we got
[13:44] Speaker 3: a little bit of extra for them. Why don't you
[13:46] Speaker 3: tell the.
[13:46] Speaker 2: Folks at home?
[13:47] Speaker 3: A little spice?
[13:48] Speaker 5: A little spice?
[13:48] Speaker 2: A little sugar? A little sugar on top? Yeah, yeah.
[13:51] Speaker 3: A little seasoning salt to finish it off at the end.
[13:55] Speaker 5: You know, we are growing through all the reasons why
[13:57] Speaker 5: you should obviously be a member of John Bond premium
[13:59] Speaker 5: and it's perks like this, in my opinion, because we
[14:03] Speaker 5: are very excited to let you guys know that our
[14:07] Speaker 5: pals at Kepler interactive have given us a 100 game
[14:13] Speaker 5: codes that we will be giving away with the next
[14:17] Speaker 5: 100 brand new subs starting like at the beginning of
[14:21] Speaker 5: the podcast we'll start it and if you are a
[14:25] Speaker 5: brand new subscriber you will get one of two games
[14:28] Speaker 5: which we will debut at the first break we'll run
[14:31] Speaker 5: the trailers for those games and we'll come back and
[14:32] Speaker 5: look Let you know how it works. But listen, okay? Listen,
[14:36] Speaker 5: this is how it's got to go. If you sign
[14:38] Speaker 5: up through YouTube, if you sign up through YouTube, what
[14:43] Speaker 5: is it called?
[14:45] Speaker 2: Members. Membership.
[14:46] Speaker 5: You must connect your Giant Bomb account to that. And
[14:51] Speaker 5: you can do that through our site. If you are
[14:54] Speaker 5: unclear on the instructions of how to do that, you
[14:56] Speaker 5: can always pop off in the Discord. But that must
[14:59] Speaker 5: happen in order for you to get your free game
[15:03] Speaker 5: code from your YouTube membership. So just keep that in
[15:06] Speaker 5: mind if you are a new sub signing up. Yeah,
[15:09] Speaker 5: thanks and biggest of shouts out to Kepler Interactive. We'll
[15:13] Speaker 5: tell you guys what those games are. At the first
[15:16] Speaker 5: break here today, one hundo coming at you hot and
[15:20] Speaker 5: fresh out of the oven.
[15:21] Speaker 2: That's right. Thank you. Yum, yum, yum, yum.
[15:24] Speaker 4: You're not going to get that code right when you
[15:25] Speaker 4: sign up because I had to send it out manually.
[15:27] Speaker 4: Though I think I just saw here my good friend
[15:29] Speaker 4: Jeff Grubb's going to be sending out the codes this
[15:31] Speaker 4: time instead for me.
[15:32] Speaker 2: Wow, that's so cool. Thank you so much, Jeff. Honestly,
[15:38] Speaker 2: that feels fair. Uh-huh. And that's the, it's actually a punishment.
[15:43] Speaker 2: We'll see how the executive functioning does with this. All right.
[15:46] Speaker 2: I got it. No, I'm doing it. I got a
[15:49] Speaker 2: system now. I can bump him out. It's great. He's
[15:51] Speaker 2: got a system. Okay. He's got a system. I love it.
[15:56] Speaker 2: Oh my God.
[15:57] Speaker 3: Fantastic. Thank you, Mr.
[15:59] Speaker 2: Bacalar.
[16:00] Speaker 3: Folks, and we will see what games those are during
[16:04] Speaker 3: the bricky break. Before we get to games, boys, how's
[16:07] Speaker 3: everyone doing other than feeling incredible betrayal?
[16:11] Speaker 2: I've got my family back. That's cool. Oh, yeah. You
[16:14] Speaker 2: seem much more, like, settled again. Yeah.
[16:17] Speaker 5: You look much better. Fall has also started, so I'm
[16:21] Speaker 5: in a good mood about that.
[16:22] Speaker 2: It was 50 degrees this morning here, Bacalar, and I
[16:25] Speaker 2: felt alive. felt alive, felt like I had energy again.
[16:29] Speaker 3: It's nice.
[16:30] Speaker 2: Uh, get fucked summer. Um, no, it's great. Everyone's back.
[16:33] Speaker 2: We're doing well.
[16:35] Speaker 5: Um, I've been, uh, interacting with a lot of people,
[16:39] Speaker 5: you know, we've got bombs on coming up. There's a
[16:40] Speaker 5: lot of stuff popping off and I'm starting to see
[16:43] Speaker 5: that people are putting, don't worry.
[16:46] Speaker 2: I'm a real person in their signatures now. Wow. And
[16:51] Speaker 2: that makes me just want to crawl into a big
[16:54] Speaker 2: old hole. Oh, as opposed to like an AI. Yeah.
[16:57] Speaker 5: It's just like a, it's just like a sort of,
[17:00] Speaker 5: Signal that, don't worry, you're not engaging with an AI bot.
[17:04] Speaker 2: Yeah. Isn't that cool?
[17:07] Speaker 3: For anyone currently looking for an apartment or any type
[17:09] Speaker 3: of housing, you are rolling the dice if you're talking
[17:12] Speaker 3: to a real person or an agent.
[17:14] Speaker 2: Oh, that sucks. Yeah.
[17:15] Speaker 3: So I thought I was talking to a real person
[17:18] Speaker 3: for one of these buildings I was looking at. It
[17:20] Speaker 3: was an AI agent the whole time. And then when
[17:22] Speaker 3: I get to the actual leasing office to have a
[17:25] Speaker 3: tour that I had scheduled for two weeks, no one
[17:29] Speaker 3: showed up.
[17:30] Speaker 2: Oh, man. So that was great.
[17:32] Speaker 3: And then when someone from the leasing office comes and
[17:33] Speaker 3: is like, hey, what are you here for? Do you
[17:35] Speaker 3: need to get in? Did you lose your keys? I'm like, no,
[17:38] Speaker 3: I have an appointment. I've set this for like two weeks.
[17:41] Speaker 3: They had no idea what I was talking about.
[17:43] Speaker 2: Cool.
[17:44] Speaker 5: Great it's working great it's everything's working great i do.
[17:47] Speaker 1: Like it and appreciate it when businesses will advertise that
[17:50] Speaker 1: like hey we don't use ai at all yes you
[17:52] Speaker 1: know like i i sure i appreciate just being able
[17:54] Speaker 1: to say like straight up hey we do not do
[17:55] Speaker 1: like i learned.
[17:56] Speaker 2: That's exactly what an ai business would say.
[17:58] Speaker 1: No it's like i learned i was at aw this
[18:01] Speaker 1: weekend and like aw is fully anti-ai like will not
[18:04] Speaker 1: use it for music art merch anything like that which
[18:06] Speaker 1: you know given the alternative like i just i like
[18:08] Speaker 1: companies taking a stance on that just being like we
[18:10] Speaker 1: do not fucking use this so Email signature is a little,
[18:13] Speaker 1: it's weird that that's necessary, but, like, I get it,
[18:15] Speaker 1: I guess, you know?
[18:16] Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, like, Dan, like, I think we talked
[18:19] Speaker 3: about it here on this or during the dump truck,
[18:22] Speaker 3: but fucking WWE putting out two AI t-shirts or maybe more.
[18:27] Speaker 1: Two 9-11 AI t-shirts.
[18:31] Speaker 2: What does that even mean? Jeff Backlar, let me explain
[18:34] Speaker 2: this company.
[18:35] Speaker 1: They fucking put out a Never Forget shirt that had
[18:38] Speaker 1: an American flag and the WWE logo on it to
[18:42] Speaker 1: profit off of the terrorist attacks of September 11th. But
[18:46] Speaker 1: then they had to take it down and put another
[18:48] Speaker 1: one up because the AI gave the flag the wrong
[18:51] Speaker 1: amount of stars and stripes.
[18:52] Speaker 2: I mean, to be fair, it's really hard to source
[18:54] Speaker 2: a PNG of an American flag. Right, right, right.
[18:58] Speaker 5: Who's the person being like, I'm going to show my
[19:00] Speaker 5: support for this country by buying.
[19:04] Speaker 2: A WWE 9-11 shirt? Email me. I want to talk.
[19:09] Speaker 2: I want to understand you, person.
[19:12] Speaker 3: Yeah, gosh, yeah. Speaking about AEW, I do want to
[19:17] Speaker 3: shout this out, but rest in peace to Pac- formerly
[19:22] Speaker 3: known as Adrian Neville in the WWE.
[19:27] Speaker 2: Way too young. Way, way too young.
[19:29] Speaker 1: It's insane. I saw him backstage hours earlier and it
[19:36] Speaker 1: was that night.
[19:37] Speaker 3: Tremendously talented wrestler. Fucking committed to the gimmick.
[19:42] Speaker 1: One of the best ever. One of the all-time best
[19:44] Speaker 1: high flyers.
[19:45] Speaker 2: Legitimately.
[19:46] Speaker 3: But also like strong as a motherfucker.
[19:49] Speaker 1: Yeah like in wrestling like it's just like it's so
[19:52] Speaker 1: rare to find someone that like no one has a
[19:54] Speaker 1: bad word to say about and like this month i
[19:56] Speaker 1: feel like between the butcher and pack it was like
[19:58] Speaker 1: two of the most beloved members guys big andy williams
[20:02] Speaker 1: fan yeah it's just been it's been really rough for
[20:05] Speaker 1: that locker room over the last month.
[20:07] Speaker 2: I'm sorry, what happened? We don't really know yet. It's not.
[20:10] Speaker 1: It sounds like TMZ is doing the TMZ thing and
[20:14] Speaker 1: reporting and stuff. It sounds like it was a medical event.
[20:16] Speaker 1: There's not foul play or trauma or anything expected, but.
[20:20] Speaker 2: He's.
[20:20] Speaker 3: Had a history of some medical-related stuff, so don't want
[20:23] Speaker 3: to speculate or stir the pot or anything, but yeah.
[20:28] Speaker 1: They're doing a tribute show on Wednesday, so yeah, tune
[20:30] Speaker 1: in to Dynamite Wednesday night. They're doing a tribute to Pac, so.
[20:33] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[20:34] Speaker 3: Yeah. Heart goes out to his family and, of course,
[20:37] Speaker 3: his co-workers over at AEW doing the impossible pivot. How
[20:42] Speaker 3: is everyone else? How's everyone else's weekend?
[20:45] Speaker 2: I got my van back in the garage after redoing
[20:48] Speaker 2: my laundry room. I cleaned it out and I put
[20:50] Speaker 2: up the most exciting thing to happen to this weekend
[20:53] Speaker 2: as I put a new cabinet up. That was actually
[20:55] Speaker 2: the old cabinet from the laundry room in my garage.
[20:57] Speaker 2: Now all my tools are in there. And I'm very
[21:00] Speaker 2: excited about it. It looks really sleek. Just go outside.
[21:03] Speaker 2: It's a real garage again. Admire it. Yeah, I'm just
[21:05] Speaker 2: opening it up. I'm like, oh, this is nice. It's
[21:07] Speaker 2: going to be organized for the one time in its
[21:10] Speaker 2: entire existence, but I'm enjoying that for the 30 minutes
[21:12] Speaker 2: it lasts now. Beautiful. Had a very bad weekend, but yeah,
[21:16] Speaker 2: that kept me pretty busy. Hell yeah.
[21:17] Speaker 3: Hell yeah. Folks, over the weekend, finally, it is here, gang.
[21:23] Speaker 3: Catch me if you Dan too. It's been revealed that
[21:27] Speaker 3: Dan and I had gone to New Mexico. Specific whereabouts
[21:31] Speaker 3: in New Mexico. Go watch the video, please. But, uh,
[21:33] Speaker 3: oh boy. So, so glad that that is finally out
[21:36] Speaker 3: and very, very happy with everyone's very kind words for
[21:39] Speaker 3: Dan and I.
[21:39] Speaker 2: Great job.
[21:40] Speaker 1: It was great. Dan with the edit was incredible. Like
[21:42] Speaker 1: it looks so awesome. Um, it's just very easy. Traveling
[21:47] Speaker 1: with Dan is very easy and that, uh, Dan will, uh,
[21:51] Speaker 1: go with the bit or create the bit. And for folks, Hey,
[21:54] Speaker 1: if you ever doubt yourself or you have a little
[21:56] Speaker 1: bit of anxiety, I understand. We all have that a
[21:59] Speaker 1: little bit of fear.
[22:00] Speaker 3: But to witness Dan look at all these lowriders and go,
[22:03] Speaker 3: I want to go in one of them. I'm just
[22:05] Speaker 3: going to ask that guy. And then immediately ask him,
[22:08] Speaker 3: and then get in the car. His testament, folks, hey,
[22:11] Speaker 3: just go try it. What's the worst thing that could happen?
[22:13] Speaker 3: The guy says no, and then we just keep walking.
[22:16] Speaker 2: I don't think he spoke.
[22:16] Speaker 1: English, and it still worked out.
[22:18] Speaker 2: And that's my new buddy.
[22:19] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[22:20] Speaker 1: Yeah, a couple new buddies in that video.
[22:21] Speaker 2: Yeah. Yes, yes.
[22:23] Speaker 3: Our last friend.
[22:25] Speaker 2: Wow. Wow. Out of this world. Good chat. Good chat
[22:27] Speaker 2: with that guy. Yeah. Yeah. His vehicle, it was legitimately
[22:32] Speaker 2: way cooler than I even could tell when you guys
[22:33] Speaker 2: were sending a couple of pictures here and there, a
[22:35] Speaker 2: couple of videos. That thing was amazing. Yes, yes, yes, yes.
[22:39] Speaker 3: That guy was super duper cool. Shouts out to Steve.
[22:42] Speaker 3: And folks, for premium members out there, I just got
[22:44] Speaker 3: to continue vetting through the footy, but I'm planning on
[22:47] Speaker 3: dropping all of the unedited footage. I'm just going to
[22:49] Speaker 3: slap it all in one timeline. I'm not going to
[22:52] Speaker 3: have any fancy edits. I won't even, I'll take out
[22:55] Speaker 3: all the color correcting. So if you just want to
[22:57] Speaker 3: put this on in the background and have footage of
[23:00] Speaker 3: Dan and I sitting in a car driving for 20 minutes,
[23:03] Speaker 3: it'll be yours for premium people only.
[23:05] Speaker 2: Okay.
[23:06] Speaker 3: So look forward later this week.
[23:08] Speaker 5: Oh, you're giving him raw? You're giving him the raw,
[23:11] Speaker 5: non-color graded? Wow.
[23:15] Speaker 2: They could color it however they want. Exactly. Exactly.
[23:17] Speaker 3: ODB was always my favorite member of the Wu-Tang Clan because, oh, baby,
[23:22] Speaker 3: I like raw.
[23:24] Speaker 1: It's the only song that'll play over everything in this video.
[23:26] Speaker 2: Actually, it's premium. We could do it. Yeah.
[23:29] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[23:29] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[23:30] Speaker 1: I forgot until I watched it how excited I was
[23:32] Speaker 1: to watch that car try to pull into the Sonic drive-in. Oh,
[23:35] Speaker 1: that was fun.
[23:37] Speaker 2: So dramatic. This is going to be fun. Hang on.
[23:40] Speaker 3: Oh, also, I've got a couple of DMs since we've
[23:44] Speaker 3: gone to New Mexico and some comments on the subreddit
[23:49] Speaker 3: and on the video. Shouts out to y'all if y'all
[23:51] Speaker 3: saw us or found out where we were and kind
[23:54] Speaker 3: of kept it quiet. Uh, cause Dan, someone, someone saw
[23:57] Speaker 3: your time during, uh, the, the race that you ran.
[24:01] Speaker 3: Cause we signed you up for one last minute. It
[24:03] Speaker 3: was like, Oh my God, is this Daniel Reichert is Dan. Um,
[24:07] Speaker 3: and he was very impressed with your time.
[24:09] Speaker 1: I'm glad that I got second place, even though I
[24:11] Speaker 1: missed the starting gun because I had to go take
[24:13] Speaker 1: an emergency shit.
[24:15] Speaker 2: And that was documented in the video.
[24:19] Speaker 1: So people could see that. But I literally was at
[24:22] Speaker 1: the starting line waiting for the pistol. And because this
[24:25] Speaker 1: was a sprung on me and I didn't have my
[24:26] Speaker 1: usual planning for a run, I did just have Buffalo
[24:29] Speaker 1: wings and beer the night before.
[24:30] Speaker 3: And, uh, yeah, to be fair, I told you before that,
[24:33] Speaker 3: but we still went, that was the only place open, right?
[24:36] Speaker 2: That was, yeah. Buffalo wild wings.
[24:37] Speaker 1: Like the only place open in Roswell past like 9
[24:39] Speaker 1: PM basically.
[24:40] Speaker 2: Um, yeah, yeah.
[24:42] Speaker 1: So if, if I didn't have to take that shit,
[24:43] Speaker 1: I might've gotten first place, but yeah. That was back
[24:45] Speaker 1: before my body exploded. Now I don't run anymore, but Hey,
[24:47] Speaker 1: back then I did great.
[24:49] Speaker 3: Well, you'll did it. You'll always have that metal.
[24:52] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[24:52] Speaker 1: I do have the alien chase metal.
[24:53] Speaker 2: I like that. It looks good. Yeah.
[24:56] Speaker 1: Um, can I tell a travel story involving will?
[24:58] Speaker 2: Yes, please.
[25:00] Speaker 1: Okay.
[25:00] Speaker 2: Is this the embargo travel story?
[25:03] Speaker 1: Just because the game we saw was embargoed. So I
[25:05] Speaker 1: wasn't even able to talk about us seeing a demo.
[25:07] Speaker 1: But this is one of the more memorable, uh, appointments
[25:10] Speaker 1: I've had at a show. So basically me and will,
[25:13] Speaker 1: we're going to gamescom and, you know, you get like
[25:15] Speaker 1: a ton of different emails and stuff for like parties
[25:17] Speaker 1: and different events and dinners and stuff like that. And
[25:19] Speaker 1: you pick and choose.
[25:19] Speaker 2: Okay.
[25:20] Speaker 1: Thursday, we'll do this.
[25:20] Speaker 2: Friday, we'll do this.
[25:22] Speaker 1: We got an email about like, do you want to
[25:23] Speaker 1: come to the monster hunter adventurers feast? And I was like, oh,
[25:26] Speaker 1: that sounds fun. I looked and they had this big
[25:28] Speaker 1: menu with like giant, like meat on bones and stuff.
[25:30] Speaker 1: It's like monster hunter meals and stuff. And that sounds fun.
[25:32] Speaker 1: Let's sign up for it. And then, uh, so we
[25:34] Speaker 1: sign up to go to this dinner on like Thursday
[25:36] Speaker 1: night or whatever. And then they said, great, we got
[25:38] Speaker 1: you RSVP'd. Hey, do you want to come check out
[25:40] Speaker 1: the game?
[25:40] Speaker 2: And I was like, oh, sure. Okay.
[25:42] Speaker 1: I'm thinking there must be like a new Monster Hunter
[25:44] Speaker 1: game or like DLC for whatever that last one was.
[25:47] Speaker 1: And I was like, yeah, sure. Yeah, we'll come check
[25:48] Speaker 1: out the game. So we made an appointment.
[25:49] Speaker 2: Sure.
[25:50] Speaker 3: Great.
[25:50] Speaker 1: We'll do that before the dinner. So it says that
[25:53] Speaker 1: it's in Hall 4 at Gamescom. And there's like 11
[25:56] Speaker 1: halls there. So we go to Hall 4 in Capcom booth,
[25:59] Speaker 1: you know, Monster Hunter. I've played a couple, you know,
[26:01] Speaker 1: Monster Hunter games before.
[26:02] Speaker 2: Go to Capcom.
[26:03] Speaker 1: Say our names like, hey, Dan, Will, Giant Bomb, we're
[26:06] Speaker 1: here to see Monster Hunter. And they're kind of looking
[26:08] Speaker 1: at each other like, Monster Hunter?
[26:10] Speaker 2: What the hell? And yeah, Monster Hunter, you know, 5 p.m. appointment.
[26:13] Speaker 1: And they're like, yeah, we don't have it. And then
[26:16] Speaker 1: we look at the email and it says Hall 4,
[26:18] Speaker 1: but it's a different booth. Like, so we're like walking.
[26:22] Speaker 2: What the fuck?
[26:22] Speaker 1: This guy comes up and he's like, hey, big giant
[26:24] Speaker 1: bomb fan. And we're like, oh, hey, cool. And very
[26:26] Speaker 1: nice to meet you. But we're already like late for
[26:28] Speaker 1: our appointment. So I'm like having to do the nice like, hey, sorry. Like,
[26:31] Speaker 1: we should stay and chat for a little bit, but we.
[26:32] Speaker 2: Got to run.
[26:32] Speaker 1: We went to the wrong booth for the appointment. So
[26:35] Speaker 1: we walk away and we're like, man, is there another
[26:37] Speaker 1: Capcom booth? He comes back and he's like, I work
[26:39] Speaker 1: at Capcom. And we're like, wait, what the hell? And
[26:43] Speaker 1: he looks at our email and he's like, okay, wait,
[26:45] Speaker 1: that booth would be down there. And we're like, what
[26:48] Speaker 1: the fuck? So we walked down there. It's a Tencent booth.
[26:51] Speaker 1: So it is Monster Hunter Outlanders, which is a mobile game.
[26:57] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[26:57] Speaker 1: So Will and I already don't really know Monster Hunter,
[27:00] Speaker 1: and we don't really play mobile games. So we're like, oh, great.
[27:03] Speaker 1: They bring us into a room. It is a big table.
[27:06] Speaker 1: There is four developers standing up and three PR people.
[27:09] Speaker 1: And we're the only media. And so... They're like, what
[27:14] Speaker 1: do you know about Monster Hunter? And we're like, I
[27:16] Speaker 1: played a little bit. What do you know about mobile games? Like,
[27:18] Speaker 1: I played threes a bit 15 years ago. What are
[27:22] Speaker 1: your favorite weapons and stuff? And me and Will just like, oh,
[27:25] Speaker 1: my God, this is an hour long appointment. And we
[27:27] Speaker 1: did not plan on all this at all. And so
[27:31] Speaker 1: they hand us phones and it's a full on third
[27:33] Speaker 1: person action game on a phone, which I've never played.
[27:36] Speaker 1: So like fake analog stick and all this stuff. And
[27:39] Speaker 1: they're like, okay, we're going to have you fight the
[27:40] Speaker 1: elder dragon. And we're like, okay, what's that? Oh, it's
[27:43] Speaker 1: the final boss of the game. It is a full on,
[27:47] Speaker 1: like we walk in, it's like, it says Q.
[27:48] Speaker 2: And a on the screen.
[27:49] Speaker 1: They're handing us phones, seven people that all work at
[27:52] Speaker 1: the company and just me and will, and we just
[27:55] Speaker 1: have to make it through this appointment. And everyone was
[27:58] Speaker 1: super duper nice and everything. But then I beat the,
[28:01] Speaker 1: the boss and everyone's like, I, they're all like applauding
[28:04] Speaker 1: and stuff. And they're like, you're seriously, this isn't a joke.
[28:06] Speaker 1: You were the first person today to do this. And
[28:08] Speaker 1: they're like, that's amazing.
[28:09] Speaker 2: That's amazing.
[28:10] Speaker 1: And then we all are looking over Will's shoulder as
[28:13] Speaker 1: he's on his phone.
[28:13] Speaker 2: Great. in that sort of circumstance for sure.
[28:16] Speaker 1: This man is just sweating dying repeatedly to this dragon
[28:19] Speaker 1: while we're all just kind of like laughing.
[28:21] Speaker 3: At him oh man oh.
[28:27] Speaker 2: Poor will wow yeah we thought it was.
[28:31] Speaker 1: Going to be this giant demo the capcom booth and
[28:33] Speaker 1: everything playing this with a bunch of other media like
[28:34] Speaker 1: at a kiosk or whatever yeah it's very just like
[28:37] Speaker 1: interrogation room with me and will and like half the
[28:39] Speaker 1: team what like was there a feast.
[28:42] Speaker 2: Yeah, we went later. So that was great.
[28:43] Speaker 1: That was awesome. Everyone at the demo and everything was
[28:46] Speaker 1: super nice. And so we go there and we're like, oh, hey, yeah,
[28:49] Speaker 1: we all know each other now and had a great
[28:50] Speaker 1: dinner together and everything. But yeah, so that was our
[28:53] Speaker 1: Monster Hunter Outlander. So we're big Monster Hunter and mobile.
[28:56] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's funny. He should have been. Well, are you crying?
[29:01] Speaker 2: I'm serious. The moment we walked in. Yeah. Yeah. I
[29:07] Speaker 2: don't like those hour long appointments. Like even if it's
[29:09] Speaker 2: a game I love, like we're just like, yeah, all
[29:11] Speaker 2: the pressures, like they're going, we're going to watch you
[29:13] Speaker 2: play the game. That stuff actually is like, I'm good.
[29:16] Speaker 2: I'm cool. So for something I'm not into that had
[29:18] Speaker 2: to be a bit hellish.
[29:19] Speaker 1: And also just picture the moment where you walk in
[29:21] Speaker 1: and you think it's like, all right, we're just going
[29:22] Speaker 1: to sit here.
[29:23] Speaker 2: Oh, I didn't know it was a mobile game.
[29:24] Speaker 1: But then it is literally just you at a giant
[29:26] Speaker 1: like conference room table with all these people.
[29:28] Speaker 2: And like they're just all.
[29:29] Speaker 1: Looking directly at you, asking you questions about mobile games
[29:32] Speaker 1: and Monster Hunter.
[29:32] Speaker 2: It's like, oh my God. Okay. Incredible.
[29:35] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[29:36] Speaker 2: So I did great.
[29:37] Speaker 1: I was the first person to beat the Elder Dragon
[29:38] Speaker 1: and Will never did.
[29:39] Speaker 3: So. The more that I learn about Will, I'll go
[29:43] Speaker 3: back with some of these stories and think like, oh, wow,
[29:45] Speaker 3: he was sweating.
[29:47] Speaker 2: He was not feeling good during this. Uh-huh. Oh, poor guy. Well,
[29:52] Speaker 2: don't worry, Will.
[29:54] Speaker 3: Now, we all know the story of this.
[29:58] Speaker 2: Jesus Christ.
[30:01] Speaker 3: Well, Dan, you played a video game, so let's talk
[30:04] Speaker 3: about video games.
[30:11] Speaker 2: I want to talk about Epcot. No one asked.
[30:14] Speaker 3: Well, we know we.
[30:15] Speaker 1: Already did a bunch of Disney on the side.
[30:17] Speaker 2: Well, I mean, there's lots. I get it.
[30:18] Speaker 4: Everybody else talked about their weekend.
[30:20] Speaker 2: We're not going to ask Mike about it. No, let's
[30:23] Speaker 2: talk about video games. I didn't talk about my weekend.
[30:27] Speaker 2: I went to Chicago. Yeah. What the hell? I can
[30:29] Speaker 2: talk about my cabinet again. It was a really interesting story.
[30:32] Speaker 4: I met the Margaritaville University people and became friends with them.
[30:37] Speaker 2: But who cares? Don't worry about it. Wait, that's interesting.
[30:40] Speaker 2: It's weird. Thank you, Bacalar. Did you say Margaritaville University people? Yeah,
[30:45] Speaker 2: and if you have any questions about that, I'm not
[30:47] Speaker 2: answering them at this time.
[30:49] Speaker 5: What does that mean? I mean, look, I get it.
[30:52] Speaker 5: When you go to Epcot, all the times you go...
[30:55] Speaker 5: Something different must happen.
[30:57] Speaker 2: Yes, that's right. And this is what happened.
[31:00] Speaker 4: We were in line for beer and there's four women
[31:03] Speaker 4: in front of us all wearing Mickey ears with Margaritaville
[31:05] Speaker 4: stickers on them. So I inquired about that.
[31:08] Speaker 2: I learned all about the college program for Margaritaville. You
[31:11] Speaker 2: want to save it for Dump Truck, bud? Yeah, there
[31:15] Speaker 2: you go. That's a good idea.
[31:16] Speaker 4: Maybe they'll follow me back on my socials by then.
[31:22] Speaker 3: I don't know, Mike, do you want me to talk
[31:23] Speaker 3: about how I've collected another old man that gives me
[31:26] Speaker 3: shreds of wisdom?
[31:26] Speaker 2: Jan, for the love of God, this opening has been
[31:28] Speaker 2: so long. Can we get to the games already? I
[31:30] Speaker 2: went to Galloping Ghost. Galloping Ghost was awesome. Who cares? Yeah,
[31:33] Speaker 2: I played that.
[31:34] Speaker 1: You played that Armadillo game, or did you just get
[31:35] Speaker 1: a picture and send it to me? I got a
[31:37] Speaker 1: picture and sent you the Armadillo game. Yeah, we did
[31:39] Speaker 1: play the Castlevania Whip light gun game.
[31:41] Speaker 2: Oh, that's so weird. Yes, I played that there as well.
[31:44] Speaker 1: It's not great.
[31:46] Speaker 2: It's insane, though. Not super good.
[31:47] Speaker 1: I played Primal Rage 2. That was interesting. That's so
[31:51] Speaker 1: weird that's there. I love that it's free play. I
[31:54] Speaker 1: love that it's free play and you can just, uh,
[31:56] Speaker 1: walk like one, like what, $ 20 or something. You can
[31:58] Speaker 1: play whatever.
[31:58] Speaker 2: It's great.
[31:59] Speaker 1: Um, It's funny, I went out with Evil Uno and
[32:02] Speaker 1: Excalibur and a bunch of other AEW guys to the
[32:04] Speaker 1: bar beforehand. And Excalibur and Uno are masked wrestlers and
[32:08] Speaker 1: Excalibur is the announcer. And it's so funny because a
[32:11] Speaker 1: lot of them have AEW hoodies and stuff on. And
[32:13] Speaker 1: so we're ordering beers at the bar and the bartender
[32:15] Speaker 1: lady's like, you guys going to the show tomorrow? And
[32:17] Speaker 1: we're like, yep. And she doesn't know she's talking to Excalibur.
[32:21] Speaker 1: And she's like, oh, what matches are you looking forward to?
[32:23] Speaker 1: And I'm like, oh man, this is like the most
[32:26] Speaker 1: encyclopedic voice of AEW.
[32:27] Speaker 2: Like, I love that.
[32:29] Speaker 1: But yeah, Galloping Ghost is fucking great. Played Mortal Kombat.
[32:33] Speaker 1: Like the gimmick ones that were like, I feel like
[32:35] Speaker 1: Primal Rage, the Castlevania one. I wanted to play the grid.
[32:38] Speaker 1: We didn't get around to the grid. Lucky and Wild,
[32:42] Speaker 1: the one where it's like one person's a driver and
[32:44] Speaker 1: one person's the shooter.
[32:45] Speaker 2: That was fun. Those are always very fun. Typing the
[32:47] Speaker 2: dead cabinet. That was cool. Ooh, cabinet. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[32:50] Speaker 2: It was awesome.
[32:52] Speaker 1: Yeah, so I loved it. Chicago's a great city.
[32:54] Speaker 2: I like to play Lucky and Wild. That's what it's called, right?
[32:56] Speaker 2: Lucky and Wild. One player with like where I'm shooting
[32:59] Speaker 2: and driving. That's a good time. Multitasker.
[33:01] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[33:02] Speaker 2: Okay. Yeah.
[33:02] Speaker 3: Hell yeah. All right, boys. Well, Dan, you've been playing
[33:07] Speaker 3: a new video game that I'd really like to hear about.
[33:10] Speaker 3: You've been playing Ace Combat 8.
[33:11] Speaker 1: Yeah, I just started it last night. So I've only
[33:15] Speaker 1: done two missions and I have made the decision to
[33:18] Speaker 1: I always do expert controls because like I that's I
[33:21] Speaker 1: had Ace Combat 2 and played the shit out of
[33:22] Speaker 1: it on PlayStation 1. And I just got really used
[33:25] Speaker 1: to doing like not just yaw, you know, like you
[33:27] Speaker 1: do the full like turn. And so for the first time,
[33:30] Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm doing this full on flight stick style.
[33:32] Speaker 1: So I did expert controls. I have a, so I
[33:35] Speaker 1: got the thrust master. They have the HOTAS. It's the,
[33:38] Speaker 1: it's the eights combat eight edition one. So it's full
[33:41] Speaker 1: on like throttle and stick and everything. And it really
[33:45] Speaker 1: changes the experience of playing a game like this. When
[33:47] Speaker 1: you're trying to like pull up from like crashing or
[33:50] Speaker 1: you're trying to like kind of whip around and get
[33:51] Speaker 1: them to get a missile off or whatever. There is
[33:53] Speaker 1: something like I like a steering wheel for ports and
[33:55] Speaker 1: stuff like that. Like, I do think that adds to
[33:56] Speaker 1: the experience. But there is something about the flight stick
[33:59] Speaker 1: that I am really like. I set it up on
[34:01] Speaker 1: this little thing right in front of this big screen.
[34:03] Speaker 1: So I put my face two feet from the screen,
[34:06] Speaker 1: basically playing on this flight stick. And it is like
[34:08] Speaker 1: super intense and fun. The thing I don't love is
[34:13] Speaker 1: just like I don't need all this story. Uh, it
[34:17] Speaker 1: is very like, it was over 30 minutes of like,
[34:20] Speaker 1: I just want to fly the cool airplane. I want
[34:22] Speaker 1: to shoot the missiles. I like, I too is the
[34:25] Speaker 1: one that I played the most of. And I just
[34:26] Speaker 1: don't remember a bunch of story in that. Uh, and
[34:29] Speaker 1: people have tried to sell me on the ace combat
[34:30] Speaker 1: story before. Like, Oh, it's like metal gear. It's like
[34:31] Speaker 1: weird anime metal gear. And it's like, I just don't
[34:33] Speaker 1: know what it is that like, I think it's cause it's,
[34:35] Speaker 1: it's set in like a fake world. It's not real earth.
[34:37] Speaker 1: Whereas like metal gear is real earth. And so I
[34:38] Speaker 1: can like associate it with like, Oh, this is like
[34:40] Speaker 1: real stuff. It's weird that ace combat is like, these
[34:42] Speaker 1: look like real planes, but it's like a fake place.
[34:44] Speaker 1: So like, I just can't get into it.
[34:46] Speaker 2: And like, what no no distinction without a difference is
[34:49] Speaker 2: what we're all shaking our heads at but it's just
[34:51] Speaker 2: no no it's perfect.
[34:52] Speaker 1: Reasoning i mean well no but like in snake eater
[34:55] Speaker 1: it's like okay it's like okay that's lyndon b johnson
[34:58] Speaker 1: and russia and like these are real things so it
[35:00] Speaker 1: feels like it's like oh this could like really kind
[35:03] Speaker 1: of happen you know uh they're at least trying to
[35:05] Speaker 1: make it okay it's closer to happening than like a
[35:09] Speaker 1: fake world with our airplanes you know well i just
[35:12] Speaker 1: struggle to like connect with the story if it's all
[35:15] Speaker 1: just like a.
[35:15] Speaker 3: Fake what about gears though like in general i don't
[35:19] Speaker 3: care about the story at all i just think it's
[35:21] Speaker 3: fun to play like that's the thing it's like gears
[35:23] Speaker 3: halo like i've never cared about the story of these
[35:24] Speaker 3: but like and there's just a lot here there's a
[35:27] Speaker 3: lot of.
[35:28] Speaker 1: Story in this game and that's a tough thing with
[35:30] Speaker 1: a flight stick too is because like the prompts don't
[35:32] Speaker 1: like so it'll be like a guy will reach out
[35:33] Speaker 1: his hand it'll be like press a to to shake
[35:36] Speaker 1: his hand and like a is mapped differently on the
[35:38] Speaker 1: stick or whatever so I just, I kind of am
[35:40] Speaker 1: on the fence about skipping all the cut scenes going forward. But, like,
[35:43] Speaker 1: the actual flying around, the two missions I've done, it
[35:46] Speaker 1: looks incredible, plays incredible. Like, I'm really, really loving it. But, yeah,
[35:49] Speaker 1: I just don't, I can't get into the story stuff.
[35:52] Speaker 2: To be in your defense about the story, the chances,
[35:55] Speaker 2: I think maybe it's, you know, it's not a real
[35:57] Speaker 2: world thing. Also, I've heard from people that, like, really
[36:00] Speaker 2: tried and have none of those issues that the story's
[36:03] Speaker 2: a little bit lackluster this time. Oh, okay. And some
[36:05] Speaker 2: people are having a difficult time getting into it. I was...
[36:07] Speaker 2: I watched the skill ups review. I've read a bunch
[36:09] Speaker 2: of other reviews and not everyone feels that way, but
[36:11] Speaker 2: I've seen enough people be like, ah, I couldn't get
[36:13] Speaker 2: into the story, but there is a lot of it
[36:15] Speaker 2: and it's got vibes. Uh, and that's, that's the positive
[36:18] Speaker 2: stuff I was hearing from people who have a similar
[36:20] Speaker 2: feeling to you. And I expect I'm going to be
[36:23] Speaker 2: the same way where I just want to go on
[36:24] Speaker 2: these sorties and, and forget about the story.
[36:26] Speaker 1: Definitely during the stories. It's like, I am fully all
[36:29] Speaker 1: in on it. Like it's super intense and fun. And
[36:31] Speaker 1: then it's like every time I sit back in my
[36:33] Speaker 1: chair and I'm like, all right, this can be another
[36:34] Speaker 1: 20 minutes, 30 minutes, and then I can have fun again.
[36:37] Speaker 1: So I might start skipping. But very, very good game
[36:40] Speaker 1: so far.
[36:41] Speaker 2: Lovely. Lovely.
[36:42] Speaker 3: You know what is a good game? And it's not
[36:43] Speaker 3: necessarily a new game, but it is a new feature
[36:46] Speaker 3: on the website. Yesterday, Mike Minotti and Turbo Sean Sean
[36:50] Speaker 3: McDowell joined me in playing Final Fantasy 14 for Final Fantasy. Folks,
[36:56] Speaker 3: we lightly touched on it, but this is possible. And
[36:59] Speaker 3: catch me if you didn't, too. is possible because of
[37:02] Speaker 3: everyone's support last year during the Giant Bombathon.
[37:04] Speaker 2: That's right.
[37:06] Speaker 3: Thank you. Folks, take your days off now because the
[37:10] Speaker 3: Giant Bombathon is happening again, 2026, October 15th and October 16th.
[37:15] Speaker 3: October 16th, a dear friend, Mary Kish, will be joining us.
[37:19] Speaker 3: Two 12-hour days of streaming, but I played Final Fantasy
[37:23] Speaker 3: XIV yesterday. Last time I played it was maybe years ago,
[37:27] Speaker 3: but I think it was one of those dealios where
[37:28] Speaker 3: I continued to pay for my subscription. even though my
[37:32] Speaker 3: character was just sitting there in the wings. But let
[37:34] Speaker 3: me tell y'all, I had a fantastic time, a little
[37:37] Speaker 3: bit overstimulated in the middle and at the end there,
[37:40] Speaker 3: once I could see all the other characters and players,
[37:44] Speaker 3: because we just had a whole posse following me punch
[37:48] Speaker 3: a bunch of rats and cast spells at ladybugs. But
[37:53] Speaker 3: I'm very excited to continue playing FFXIV, and just want
[37:57] Speaker 3: to give people a heads up.
[37:58] Speaker 2: If you tuned into that. It's going to be a
[38:01] Speaker 2: check-in stream.
[38:03] Speaker 3: Uh, that's not the only time I'm going to be
[38:05] Speaker 3: playing because that would be absolutely insane to only play
[38:08] Speaker 3: an MMO in two hour increments every week.
[38:11] Speaker 2: Yeah. You'll be playing it for the next 20 years. Yes, yes, yes.
[38:15] Speaker 3: Uh, but we're gonna, well, you know, we'll, we'll try
[38:17] Speaker 3: and save any major big story stuff for, uh, like
[38:22] Speaker 3: those Monday streams. And occasionally I will just do a
[38:25] Speaker 3: one-off solo dolo stream, just doing maintenance in the game, uh,
[38:29] Speaker 3: But let me tell y'all, very, very fun. And Mike,
[38:34] Speaker 3: I could tell why folks kind of just, this is
[38:37] Speaker 3: their whole life sometimes. It's that constant drip feed of
[38:41] Speaker 3: dopamine of like, oh, I just did this task. Oh,
[38:43] Speaker 3: I could do these tasks.
[38:47] Speaker 2: You were going to say? I'm sorry. I thought you
[38:49] Speaker 2: were still going to say. Yeah, no, exactly. That's right.
[38:52] Speaker 4: It is just kind of one thing to another. There's
[38:54] Speaker 4: always a carrot on that stick. And right now for you,
[38:57] Speaker 4: it's like, well, I just got my class i'm gonna
[38:59] Speaker 4: unlock new abilities and i'm seeing more of this world
[39:02] Speaker 4: and with this level i get my chocobo at this
[39:04] Speaker 4: level my class becomes a job and then i get
[39:06] Speaker 4: this and then then you start getting invested in the
[39:09] Speaker 4: story and um it gets pretty wild from there it's
[39:13] Speaker 4: been fun watching the beginning of it uh through your
[39:15] Speaker 4: eyes again especially because you're starting in a different city
[39:18] Speaker 4: state for me there's three different city states you can
[39:20] Speaker 4: start in so you're like kind of first 15 level
[39:23] Speaker 4: experience is going to be pretty different from mine you're
[39:25] Speaker 4: in uh you're in this very piratey themed area uh
[39:29] Speaker 4: that is a lot of fun uh very pretty music
[39:32] Speaker 4: and it was fun to see so many of the
[39:33] Speaker 4: people in the uh giant bomb free company vinco just
[39:36] Speaker 4: kind of show up it's funny because like you were
[39:38] Speaker 4: doing a quest and i was trying to go where
[39:40] Speaker 4: you are i'm like man there's all these people here
[39:42] Speaker 4: doing emotes for some reason then i realized oh they're
[39:44] Speaker 4: here for jan that's awesome.
[39:47] Speaker 2: A welcoming committee, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
[39:49] Speaker 3: I feel very welcome. Shouts out to the giant bond-free company, Vinco.
[39:54] Speaker 3: On the Ultros server, I think I saw some inquiries
[39:58] Speaker 3: of how to get into that, and I think just
[40:00] Speaker 3: pop onto the Discord. There's lots of people in lots
[40:03] Speaker 3: of places, so I think you will get your answers
[40:05] Speaker 3: if you want to join the free company. But yeah,
[40:09] Speaker 3: very overstimulating, because for years now, Michael Haim has told me,
[40:13] Speaker 3: that this is one of the best or some of
[40:15] Speaker 3: the best stories in Final Fantasy, specifically in XIV. And
[40:19] Speaker 3: Sean echoed that. You echoed that yesterday. And it's funny
[40:22] Speaker 3: to hear all that and understand that. And then as
[40:25] Speaker 3: I am punching a ladybug for someone to summon the
[40:29] Speaker 3: car from Final Fantasy XV, and then something that looks
[40:32] Speaker 3: like a giant Gundam, and then just all these miscellaneous
[40:36] Speaker 3: pets around, it's great. I think we're all going to
[40:37] Speaker 3: have a fantastic time. That is Final Fantasy XIV.
[40:41] Speaker 2: I couldn't watch because I was busy doing something. on
[40:47] Speaker 2: friday on friday yeah oh my.
[40:50] Speaker 3: God it wasn't friday.
[40:51] Speaker 5: It wasn't mike and i feel like you're lying to
[40:54] Speaker 5: yourself okay it wasn't even an epcot Dude, you just
[40:58] Speaker 5: gotta be okay with it That they did it when
[41:01] Speaker 5: you were available Okay The further you come to terms
[41:06] Speaker 5: with that You're gonna be able to move on.
[41:07] Speaker 2: Are my friends psychopaths? The quicker It was Grubb's idea Wow.
[41:18] Speaker 2: You just gotta deal with it, man.
[41:20] Speaker 1: We were just in a Jason Discord channel.
[41:25] Speaker 2: We should have driven to his house and just did
[41:27] Speaker 2: it while he was filming. Yeah. Wait, where did you do?
[41:32] Speaker 5: Because I feel like there was a second where like
[41:36] Speaker 5: I was looking for someone and it said you were
[41:39] Speaker 5: in a thing.
[41:39] Speaker 2: They're in a call together. Yeah. And I was like,
[41:43] Speaker 2: what's that?
[41:43] Speaker 1: We were talking business stuff.
[41:46] Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. Yes. Yes. Yes. Mike.
[41:50] Speaker 5: I'm sorry, pal.
[41:51] Speaker 2: I mean, it's a really funny prank. I remember my
[41:56] Speaker 2: first time. Right. First time my friends lied to me.
[42:02] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[42:03] Speaker 2: I made it a bit for the Internet.
[42:04] Speaker 1: We didn't lie to him. We just didn't tell him.
[42:07] Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. You know, like, yeah. Yeah.
[42:10] Speaker 3: Okay.
[42:10] Speaker 2: Sure. That'll hold up in court.
[42:13] Speaker 3: But I have it on the run down here.
[42:16] Speaker 2: Goof Troop.
[42:17] Speaker 3: Boys, you talked about it lightly.
[42:19] Speaker 2: How was it?
[42:20] Speaker 3: Yeah, for the Super Nintendo.
[42:22] Speaker 2: We really just can't let this wound heal for even
[42:25] Speaker 2: a minute. It's worth talking about. It's a good game.
[42:29] Speaker 2: It was a lot of fun, yeah. If you watch
[42:31] Speaker 2: the video when the credits do come up and it
[42:33] Speaker 2: said Shinji Mikami, I can't help but laugh because I'm like,
[42:37] Speaker 2: Oh yeah, Mike told me that. Yeah, where did you
[42:40] Speaker 2: get this interesting info? Yeah, I was trying to keep
[42:44] Speaker 2: a straight face. It was, yeah, but it's a co-op
[42:47] Speaker 2: game and yeah, you play as Goofy and as Dan said,
[42:50] Speaker 2: Diddy Goof. Diddy Goof? Yeah, like Diddy Kong. Oh, okay. Yeah.
[42:57] Speaker 2: And and there's just a lot of like puzzles and
[43:00] Speaker 2: rooms where you are. You do need to work together
[43:02] Speaker 2: and you have a couple of mechanics. Like if they
[43:05] Speaker 2: throw a barrel at you, you can put your arms
[43:06] Speaker 2: over your head and you can catch it. They shoot
[43:08] Speaker 2: a cannon at a cannonball at you. You can put
[43:09] Speaker 2: your arms over your head and catch the cannonball. Then
[43:12] Speaker 2: you can use that to like throw the stuff at
[43:14] Speaker 2: buttons or at enemies or back at the cannon to
[43:16] Speaker 2: break it up or whatever. And then there's a handful
[43:18] Speaker 2: of these sliding block puzzles and it goes by in
[43:21] Speaker 2: a flash, but it like didn't overstay its welcome. But
[43:24] Speaker 2: there were a lot of like really high moments. So
[43:25] Speaker 2: you do feel like you get this complete experience. I
[43:28] Speaker 2: had a really good time.
[43:29] Speaker 1: Really clever boss fights. Also, I realized at some point,
[43:32] Speaker 1: this is just the upcoming Jonathan Blow game, but co-op.
[43:35] Speaker 1: Individual screens of these puzzles where you're pushing stuff around
[43:39] Speaker 1: and everything.
[43:40] Speaker 2: It's totally that. You're not wrong. He's already dead.
[43:43] Speaker 1: There were several times where I was like, how the
[43:47] Speaker 1: fuck are you supposed to play this solo? It's a
[43:49] Speaker 1: game that you really just got to get a close
[43:50] Speaker 1: friend and play co-op with and just have a great
[43:53] Speaker 1: time with a friend.
[43:53] Speaker 2: Uh-huh. I don't have any friends anymore. Hey, Mike, I'm here.
[43:59] Speaker 2: They've all betrayed me. You're my friend, Jen.
[44:01] Speaker 4: Jen, what if we just, what if me and Jen
[44:03] Speaker 4: or me and Backward just also play through Goof Troop?
[44:07] Speaker 2: Every permutation of two people. It's got my highest recommendation.
[44:12] Speaker 3: You know, there's eight of us in total. That's a
[44:15] Speaker 3: lot of different permutations.
[44:16] Speaker 2: It's a lot of Goof Troops.
[44:18] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[44:18] Speaker 2: Yeah. And then they vote on the best Goof Troop.
[44:20] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[44:20] Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. Also, the text of the game bleeds together
[44:25] Speaker 2: in a way so that Goofy always looks like it
[44:27] Speaker 2: says Goopy. Yeah. And that's why we're the Goop troop.
[44:31] Speaker 1: All the Fs look like Bs, yeah.
[44:32] Speaker 2: Yeah. Okay.
[44:34] Speaker 3: I thought that's just like you guys were just covered
[44:36] Speaker 3: in Goop because of the slime of betrayal.
[44:39] Speaker 2: Sure, maybe that too. Slimy maneuvering, yeah.
[44:44] Speaker 3: Mike, I'm sorry for things you have no control over,
[44:46] Speaker 3: but you do have... Control overplaying. Control, Resonant.
[44:50] Speaker 2: Man, that was a good one, Jan. Well done. Thank you,
[44:53] Speaker 2: thank you.
[44:54] Speaker 4: Just played through the first few hours of this one.
[44:58] Speaker 4: Last night was definitely having a good time. Really good-looking
[45:01] Speaker 4: game on.
[45:02] Speaker 2: My computer anyway. Gorgeous. Looks really smooth.
[45:05] Speaker 4: All the fun details are showing up nicely. And, you know,
[45:08] Speaker 4: something about that Control on Wake Universe, it is all
[45:11] Speaker 4: just weird and fun. Yeah. And just, like, the way
[45:15] Speaker 4: that the weird alien extra-dimensional god thing talks to you
[45:20] Speaker 4: and that super just, like, bass sound. Every time I
[45:23] Speaker 4: hear them, I'm like, yeah, give me more of that shit.
[45:25] Speaker 2: I love that.
[45:27] Speaker 3: I specifically love when... God, what is he called? It's
[45:31] Speaker 3: not the operator.
[45:31] Speaker 2: The big, like... The board? The board, yeah. That when they.
[45:36] Speaker 3: they will occasionally split up a noun by like with
[45:39] Speaker 3: the slashes and be like, this.
[45:41] Speaker 2: Is what I like.
[45:42] Speaker 3: I'm talking about with this, like the good talking about
[45:44] Speaker 3: Jesse slash the operator slash blah, blah, blah.
[45:47] Speaker 2: Right. Absolutely. Dig that. I just want to talk like
[45:50] Speaker 2: that in real life now. Yeah.
[45:51] Speaker 4: I love like the kind of the slashes. Like there's
[45:53] Speaker 4: like three names for each thing at one point, like
[45:55] Speaker 4: when the names they give for, for, uh, day one
[45:58] Speaker 4: which is the name of the uh main character in
[46:00] Speaker 4: this game actually nobody can know that it's gotta look
[46:03] Speaker 4: that up hang on yeah but they're like like they
[46:06] Speaker 4: call them just like play your character at one point
[46:08] Speaker 4: i'm like oh that's slightly meta that's kind of fun
[46:10] Speaker 4: yeah yeah that's cute yeah yeah but i love like
[46:13] Speaker 4: the melee combat stuff where like you've picked different forms
[46:15] Speaker 4: of the weapons like my light attacks basically are like
[46:19] Speaker 4: this size so i have like decent kind of uh
[46:22] Speaker 4: sweeping with this, I can hit multiple enemies. Then my
[46:24] Speaker 4: heavy attack is like this drill that's pretty good, just
[46:27] Speaker 4: like drilling into them, right?
[46:28] Speaker 2: Ooh, you went drill.
[46:29] Speaker 4: Yeah, I went drill. I like that drill quite a lot.
[46:32] Speaker 4: You've kind of picked the combo ender. So that, like
[46:35] Speaker 4: the combat both feels satisfying. I also hear what some
[46:37] Speaker 4: people are saying where it's a bit simple, right? Like
[46:39] Speaker 4: it's not like some big, like, you know, here are
[46:41] Speaker 4: the big combos you're doing with your aerial juggles and then, right, right?
[46:45] Speaker 4: It is kind of mostly just attack people and dodge
[46:48] Speaker 4: when they're about to do their attack. And I know
[46:52] Speaker 4: they even kind of patched it before it came out
[46:53] Speaker 4: because there was a bit of a problem with the
[46:55] Speaker 4: enemies being a bit tanky, taking a lot of hits
[46:58] Speaker 4: to kill.
[46:59] Speaker 2: Even like now.
[46:59] Speaker 4: After that, I'm like, yeah, it does take kind of
[47:02] Speaker 4: the will on these guys for quite a.
[47:04] Speaker 2: While to take them down.
[47:06] Speaker 4: So it was always going to be a problem this
[47:09] Speaker 4: year with so many of these melee action games coming out,
[47:11] Speaker 4: especially this month where, you know, it's like part of
[47:14] Speaker 4: me is going to be like, it doesn't feel quite
[47:16] Speaker 4: as good as Onimusha. Which is very different, but it's
[47:19] Speaker 4: a game that has like five different parries and things
[47:22] Speaker 4: like that, right? This is largely, hey, spam square and
[47:26] Speaker 4: triangle and kill these guys.
[47:27] Speaker 2: But that's not like pushing you away at all, like
[47:30] Speaker 2: you're totally vibing with that?
[47:32] Speaker 4: Right, and I think part of the thing too is
[47:33] Speaker 4: I can already see, because there's an extensive skill tree
[47:36] Speaker 4: and things to unlock, and it's like, oh, I'm going
[47:38] Speaker 4: to definitely get way more tools and feel much more
[47:41] Speaker 4: powerful kind of as I get deeper into i think
[47:45] Speaker 4: it's a bit of one of those reverse difficulty curve
[47:47] Speaker 4: games where early on when you kind of just have
[47:49] Speaker 4: the basic tools you kind of struggle and then once
[47:52] Speaker 4: you you know you you get all that stuff and
[47:54] Speaker 4: you know it's a good reason to want to explore
[47:56] Speaker 4: the city which is fun because you will get those
[47:58] Speaker 4: upgrade materials and those levels ups and you will get
[48:01] Speaker 4: an actual like noticeable power boost when you are doing
[48:04] Speaker 4: those things.
[48:06] Speaker 1: I will say, if the combat stuff is pushing someone away,
[48:08] Speaker 1: if that is the main thing that's keeping you from
[48:09] Speaker 1: enjoying this, the assist mode in the options is really
[48:13] Speaker 1: extensive and cool.
[48:14] Speaker 2: Are these the difficulty sliders or the damage sliders that
[48:16] Speaker 2: we were talking about? Damage sliders.
[48:17] Speaker 1: You can just turn on invulnerability. You can turn up
[48:21] Speaker 1: outgoing damage, turn down incoming damage. You can change the
[48:25] Speaker 1: window for dodging and things like that. You can really
[48:29] Speaker 1: make it a smooth experience if you want to. I've
[48:31] Speaker 1: been going on default for all of the just general
[48:34] Speaker 1: running around and fighting stuff. But there are a couple
[48:36] Speaker 1: of those resonant boss fights where it's like, man, it
[48:38] Speaker 1: is like 15 minutes of wailing on this thing and
[48:40] Speaker 1: no checkpoints. And then you die. I will give myself
[48:43] Speaker 1: like three proper tries, you know, and then usually by
[48:47] Speaker 1: that point, I'm getting to the end of the fight
[48:48] Speaker 1: and then dying. And then I'll go in there and
[48:50] Speaker 1: I'll do a couple little changes, see if that fixes things.
[48:53] Speaker 1: And then once I go back to the open world,
[48:54] Speaker 1: I'll be like, OK, back to defaults. And like that's
[48:56] Speaker 1: I've been very happy with that.
[48:57] Speaker 2: Yeah, I think there are going to be people that
[48:59] Speaker 2: hear that and go like, oh, no, I want the
[49:01] Speaker 2: intended experience to be sort of like have its own
[49:04] Speaker 2: ups and downs and feel like the developer was really
[49:06] Speaker 2: being considerate. And it just sounds like maybe the game
[49:09] Speaker 2: doesn't quite reach that level of being able to justify
[49:11] Speaker 2: you ignoring that stuff. But if you are willing to
[49:13] Speaker 2: go in there and slide, move the sliders around, you
[49:16] Speaker 2: can tune it to your liking.
[49:17] Speaker 3: Yeah. It just depends.
[49:18] Speaker 1: Cause like people were saying the same thing about Mina,
[49:19] Speaker 1: the hollower. And like, I did find that fairly difficult,
[49:21] Speaker 1: but like, I never got to the point with Mina
[49:23] Speaker 1: where I was like, Oh, this is impacting my enjoyment.
[49:25] Speaker 1: So like I did kind of stay like, I'm not
[49:27] Speaker 1: touching anything. I think it's cool that all these modes
[49:30] Speaker 1: are here and all these options. Um, but yeah, it's
[49:32] Speaker 1: a game by game basis thing. And I did feel
[49:34] Speaker 1: like this one needed a little bit of that. but
[49:36] Speaker 1: I also heard they've already updated some of the balancing
[49:38] Speaker 1: and things like that and the skill tree, which were
[49:40] Speaker 1: two of my biggest complaints about the game so far.
[49:42] Speaker 1: So it sounds like they're very quickly moving on some
[49:44] Speaker 1: player complaints.
[49:44] Speaker 2: Right.
[49:45] Speaker 4: And like some of the stuff that like is just
[49:46] Speaker 4: good right away, the movement, very good. Good running around,
[49:50] Speaker 4: good running around and jumping. It just like very early on,
[49:53] Speaker 4: you get like a double jump and this kind of
[49:55] Speaker 4: airlift glide thing. And then you have two air dashes
[50:00] Speaker 4: right from the get-go there. So just kind of like
[50:02] Speaker 4: doing the rooftop running and, uh felt uh really good
[50:05] Speaker 4: there's even kind of this one like challenge thing i
[50:07] Speaker 4: got where it was just kind of running around the
[50:08] Speaker 4: rooftops i felt a little mirror's edge for a moment
[50:11] Speaker 4: even i'm like yeah yeah just uh just running around
[50:13] Speaker 4: here feels.
[50:14] Speaker 3: Fantastic yeah and then you you do unlock a couple
[50:16] Speaker 3: more mobility stuff as you progress through the game and
[50:19] Speaker 3: like even that is just like oh shit this sings
[50:23] Speaker 3: i know i've seen a lot of people complain about
[50:25] Speaker 3: the switch from being inside the fbc office to being
[50:28] Speaker 3: in an open world but i think like running around
[50:31] Speaker 3: the open world um does get better as you progress
[50:35] Speaker 3: through the story and everything yeah.
[50:37] Speaker 1: There are areas that have more of their own aesthetic
[50:39] Speaker 1: and everything i will say overall i think the oldest
[50:42] Speaker 1: house was a more compelling like place to set the
[50:44] Speaker 1: game but the running around is really good here so
[50:47] Speaker 1: i think the mobility is better in this one i
[50:49] Speaker 1: think the setting was better in the first one Yeah.
[50:51] Speaker 2: Yeah. I keep seeing clips of boss fights and the
[50:55] Speaker 2: game just has such a strong look. There's I mean,
[50:57] Speaker 2: of course, it's remedy, but the aesthetics are what are
[51:01] Speaker 2: attracting me to the game. And then hearing the running
[51:03] Speaker 2: around is like you guys are all approving of that.
[51:06] Speaker 2: I bet this game is worth me giving some time
[51:08] Speaker 2: to before the end of the year.
[51:10] Speaker 1: Mike, remind me, Mike, you said Mirror's Edge earlier, and
[51:13] Speaker 1: my instinct was to go, ah, Mirror's Edge. But then
[51:15] Speaker 1: didn't we do a stream, and then did I come
[51:17] Speaker 1: around on it? Yeah, you came around to it a bit.
[51:19] Speaker 1: You don't hate it anymore.
[51:20] Speaker 2: Okay, I don't hate Mirror's Edge anymore. Okay, I'll make
[51:22] Speaker 2: a note.
[51:22] Speaker 1: Thank you.
[51:22] Speaker 2: Good, gotcha. Mirror's Edge.
[51:25] Speaker 3: That's right. Specifically, I want to hear your opinion on this,
[51:29] Speaker 3: because our dear friend, and you reviewed the video game
[51:32] Speaker 3: for us, Jesse Vitale, put out a video saying that
[51:36] Speaker 3: Control Resonant It's basically a Kingdom Hearts game. And then
[51:42] Speaker 3: the more I thought about it, I was like, you know,
[51:45] Speaker 3: there are a lot of similarities in terms of like
[51:49] Speaker 3: some of the combat feeling a little floaty, some of
[51:52] Speaker 3: the running around being a little floaty. And I'm like,
[51:55] Speaker 3: parentheses positive floaty. Parentheses positive for you and me, for sure.
[52:00] Speaker 2: And then I'm like, okay, okay.
[52:02] Speaker 4: Boy, that's an interesting point of comparison, actually. There is
[52:07] Speaker 4: a whiff of Kingdom Hearts to all of this, actually.
[52:10] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[52:11] Speaker 3: You know, I could see Dylan putting on some mouse ears, right?
[52:15] Speaker 2: And look, I'm not all the way in. Maybe Donald
[52:17] Speaker 2: Duck shows up. Yeah. That's true. Maybe.
[52:20] Speaker 4: Goofy's too busy on that pirate island with his son.
[52:23] Speaker 4: I don't know about that adventure, but Donald's free.
[52:27] Speaker 2: Uh, fantastic. Fantastic. Yeah.
[52:30] Speaker 3: Um, I keep going back to control. Um, you know, had,
[52:34] Speaker 3: have a, we all have a bunch of stuff to
[52:36] Speaker 3: work on and like playing some other things, but like, God,
[52:39] Speaker 3: just the vibe.
[52:39] Speaker 2: Of the game. And like, great.
[52:41] Speaker 3: They, they handle like that needle drop of like, not
[52:44] Speaker 3: a licensed song or like a well-known licensed song, but like, uh,
[52:47] Speaker 3: dropping in a track that just takes over the ambient sound,
[52:52] Speaker 3: just playing really well. Like your handlers always saying, Hey,
[52:55] Speaker 3: I gave you a new song.
[52:56] Speaker 2: Here you go.
[52:57] Speaker 3: And it's like, OK, now I'm jamming around. I feel
[52:59] Speaker 3: good running around. It's good stuff.
[53:01] Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm glad that there are like dialogue options, because
[53:03] Speaker 4: a lot of the times it's like like Dylan. There's
[53:06] Speaker 4: an option for Dylan to apologize. And I'm always in the.
[53:09] Speaker 2: Back of my head.
[53:10] Speaker 4: Dylan, these people kidnapped you, imprisoned you and tortured you.
[53:15] Speaker 4: Don't apologize. Whenever there's like the apologize option, I'm like,
[53:19] Speaker 4: I'm not. No, I'm apologizing for nothing. Actually, these people
[53:23] Speaker 4: are psychopaths.
[53:24] Speaker 3: Yeah, I like how in one of those early ones,
[53:26] Speaker 3: Zoe just tells you to tell the guard to fuck off.
[53:30] Speaker 2: Yes. It's great. It's great.
[53:32] Speaker 1: I was like, this story is totally fine in my head, too, because, like,
[53:35] Speaker 1: New York.
[53:35] Speaker 2: New York's real. Even though it's, like, folded upon itself
[53:38] Speaker 2: a million times. It's like, yeah, but it's New York.
[53:40] Speaker 4: You do have to realize how weird of a hang-up
[53:43] Speaker 4: this is.
[53:44] Speaker 1: Mike, for the record, I 1,000% understand, and because I
[53:48] Speaker 1: can empathize with you, too, because every time my dad
[53:51] Speaker 1: doesn't like Star Wars because this isn't real, but then
[53:55] Speaker 1: loves Jurassic Park because, like, well, dinosaurs, it's in the
[53:57] Speaker 1: real world, and dinosaurs existed.
[53:58] Speaker 2: It's like.
[53:59] Speaker 1: It's that, and I realize this is some part of
[54:01] Speaker 1: my brain, a fat cell I need to digest that
[54:03] Speaker 1: came from my father, and then I'll just be normal.
[54:05] Speaker 2: But I haven't fixed that yet. I'm working on it.
[54:09] Speaker 2: All right, we'll get there. Don't worry, buddy. And then
[54:11] Speaker 2: you'll just be normal.
[54:13] Speaker 4: Could somebody just mod Metal Gear Solid 3 where they
[54:15] Speaker 4: change the name of Russia to Pretendo Land?
[54:18] Speaker 2: Let's get the end of play through that.
[54:20] Speaker 1: I would hate Metal Gear.
[54:21] Speaker 2: You're going to accept it. You're going to see how
[54:23] Speaker 2: the game is still good, actually.
[54:24] Speaker 1: If Solid 3 had a tail, I'd be like, that
[54:27] Speaker 1: doesn't happen.
[54:29] Speaker 2: What, he's a snake? What is this? God, is there
[54:31] Speaker 2: no character in Metal Gear with a tail? At this point,
[54:34] Speaker 2: I feel like.
[54:34] Speaker 3: I mean, there's that.
[54:35] Speaker 2: Monkey that Drebin has. There's the monkey that Drebin has. Oh, shit.
[54:39] Speaker 4: I mean, you know, there's the magical, levitating, psychic guy who.
[54:44] Speaker 2: Yeah, the banana machines. What about the guy that shoots these?
[54:48] Speaker 2: It's science. It's science, not fantasy. I'm fine with science. Oh, God.
[54:52] Speaker 3: I'm going to go hide in a cave. And then
[54:54] Speaker 3: perhaps I will see Jeff Grubb there because you have
[54:57] Speaker 3: been playing Well Dweller.
[54:59] Speaker 2: Yeah. You guys like Silksong? Would you like more of that? Yeah,
[55:04] Speaker 2: but not right now. It's busy.
[55:06] Speaker 4: We still need to sign a new Silksong out. I'm
[55:08] Speaker 4: drowning in games. You know how many games I'm in
[55:11] Speaker 4: the middle of right now?
[55:12] Speaker 2: I know.
[55:12] Speaker 3: Oh, God.
[55:13] Speaker 2: It's actually, I couldn't stop playing this when I'm like,
[55:15] Speaker 2: I got to review this other game, which I was
[55:17] Speaker 2: really enjoying as well. But go ahead, Dan.
[55:18] Speaker 1: Yeah, grab on before you kind of describe the game.
[55:20] Speaker 1: I just want you to know I started it last night.
[55:22] Speaker 1: I was like, oh, this is a perfect Steam Deck game.
[55:23] Speaker 1: I love the way this looks. I love the way
[55:25] Speaker 1: this plays. I fought a couple bosses and I'm like, oh,
[55:27] Speaker 1: this is awesome. And then I realized, like, hang on.
[55:29] Speaker 1: I'm like an hour in, and we're very close to
[55:32] Speaker 1: Castlevania coming out. Because I know what will happen is
[55:36] Speaker 1: that I don't want to get eight hours into this,
[55:38] Speaker 1: and then Castlevania comes out, and I totally drop off.
[55:40] Speaker 1: So it's like, okay, I'm going to drop off, basically
[55:42] Speaker 1: act like I played a demo, and get excited for
[55:44] Speaker 1: this after I'm done with Castlevania is my plan. But
[55:46] Speaker 1: it does seem very good. I forgot about Castlevania.
[55:49] Speaker 2: It's shit. It's very, very good. It checks all the
[55:54] Speaker 2: boxes of, hey, what makes a good Metroidvania where it's
[55:58] Speaker 2: got really great atmosphere. It doesn't overdo the talking, but
[56:01] Speaker 2: there's enough there where you can tell that there is
[56:03] Speaker 2: a world that they thought about. And that there are
[56:05] Speaker 2: characters there and they have a personality. You play as
[56:08] Speaker 2: a little bird in a world where a human queen
[56:11] Speaker 2: has taken over and she wants a gown made of
[56:14] Speaker 2: all of the feathers in all of the world. So
[56:17] Speaker 2: they've killed every single other bird in the world. And
[56:20] Speaker 2: your family is the last little bird family living at
[56:22] Speaker 2: the bottom of this well. And you go to go
[56:24] Speaker 2: find some food for your mom and you come back.
[56:26] Speaker 2: And then of course things, things go bad and your
[56:28] Speaker 2: brothers and sisters and your mom all get kidnapped and
[56:31] Speaker 2: you're on a journey to go rescue them. And the game, yes,
[56:36] Speaker 2: it is like gentle Silksong. It is not nearly as
[56:38] Speaker 2: punishing or difficult as Silksong, which I think is part
[56:41] Speaker 2: of the appeal of that game. But yes, I think
[56:43] Speaker 2: this is one where it's like, if you want all
[56:45] Speaker 2: of the look and feel and that atmospheric vibe, and
[56:49] Speaker 2: then you want to have some like boss fights that
[56:52] Speaker 2: are way more like... They just look crazy. They go
[56:56] Speaker 2: for their own crazy look. It's delivering all that stuff.
[56:59] Speaker 2: And then I'm just I can't put it down because
[57:01] Speaker 2: there's always that carrot to be chasing of, oh, I
[57:04] Speaker 2: just got this upgrade or I just saw that thing
[57:07] Speaker 2: back there. And if I take this upgrade I got,
[57:10] Speaker 2: I can go get that thing. And that's going to
[57:11] Speaker 2: be able to that's going to enable me to turn
[57:13] Speaker 2: on another one of these charms. You have charms you're collecting.
[57:16] Speaker 2: and you have another currency that you collect that enables
[57:18] Speaker 2: you to turn on more of them simultaneously. That's very Silksong.
[57:22] Speaker 2: Very Silksong, and there's multiple ways to find those. And also,
[57:24] Speaker 2: if you get regular currency, you can buy upgrades from
[57:26] Speaker 2: the little guy that lives in the tent that is
[57:28] Speaker 2: your bonfire or whatever equivalent. Yeah, I'm just... I was
[57:33] Speaker 2: expecting to turn it on and be like, yeah, this
[57:35] Speaker 2: is pretty cool. No, I turned it on and could
[57:37] Speaker 2: not put it down. It is just that sticky. He's
[57:40] Speaker 2: got a good look for this.
[57:41] Speaker 5: Yeah, I just caught the look of, like, the groundskeeper.
[57:44] Speaker 2: Yeah, yes. Oh, my God. And it does this great
[57:48] Speaker 2: thing where it's like, when you do fight these bosses,
[57:50] Speaker 2: they're almost echoes of, I think, human characters that have
[57:53] Speaker 2: been turned into these monsters. And it does the smart thing,
[57:58] Speaker 2: I think, for Metroidvania, which is when you beat the boss,
[58:00] Speaker 2: you get a little... tombstone and it's like here lies
[58:04] Speaker 2: this person and it just fills in the color of
[58:06] Speaker 2: this world without beating you over the head with a
[58:08] Speaker 2: ton of text about oh this is what this person
[58:11] Speaker 2: went through and we're going to do this big flashback
[58:13] Speaker 2: there are a couple of flashbacks but I think atmospheric
[58:16] Speaker 2: storytelling is so much more effective And it shows that
[58:19] Speaker 2: like you have to build out the world as a developer.
[58:22] Speaker 2: And they did that here. I think there are some
[58:23] Speaker 2: other games that have been inspired by Hollow Knight and
[58:25] Speaker 2: Silksong and Ori, clearly another one of very inspirational games
[58:30] Speaker 2: in this genre right now. And they do the work
[58:33] Speaker 2: of like, oh, we want to feel like that. And
[58:35] Speaker 2: they get close. This one is nailing it. This is
[58:37] Speaker 2: just it nails it in terms of when you play
[58:40] Speaker 2: the game, you're getting those feelings from both playing the
[58:42] Speaker 2: game and looking at the game and hearing it.
[58:44] Speaker 1: One thing I really appreciate is, you know, I love
[58:46] Speaker 1: Metroidvanias and I love both kind of map styles. Like
[58:49] Speaker 1: I like the old school Castlevania style where it's like
[58:51] Speaker 1: this is just blue squares, maybe the occasional red square
[58:53] Speaker 1: to indicate a safe spot or whatever. And then there's
[58:55] Speaker 1: the Hollow Knight type, which is more kind of hand drawn,
[58:57] Speaker 1: more detailed, more kind of granular stuff.
[58:59] Speaker 2: Squiggly. Yeah.
[59:00] Speaker 1: And you can literally just hit X on the map
[59:01] Speaker 1: screen like just fade between the two.
[59:04] Speaker 2: And it's like, that's great. It also like there's a
[59:09] Speaker 2: little guy that lives in your tent. And if you
[59:11] Speaker 2: are lost and you don't want to go exploring, like,
[59:13] Speaker 2: you know, the thing you do in a Metroidvania, you
[59:15] Speaker 2: look at your map. Oh, there is a door I
[59:17] Speaker 2: did not go through. I wonder if I can go
[59:19] Speaker 2: through that now. I mean, you know, I have a
[59:20] Speaker 2: terrible memory. I'm like, I'll go and check it out.
[59:22] Speaker 2: And maybe sometimes it's like, oh, I don't have the
[59:24] Speaker 2: ability yet. Maybe sometimes I do. But if you were like, actually,
[59:27] Speaker 2: I just want to know where to go, you can
[59:29] Speaker 2: buy that from the guy that lives in your tent
[59:32] Speaker 2: for like 400 coins or whatever, and be like, okay,
[59:35] Speaker 2: we're going to put a little spot on your map
[59:37] Speaker 2: so you can go find it Metroid Prime style when
[59:39] Speaker 2: you are exploring in Metroid Prime for a while. Yeah.
[59:41] Speaker 2: It gives you a lot of tools to play the
[59:43] Speaker 2: game the way you want. And it feels like it's
[59:44] Speaker 2: not being like, oh, you want to play on easy mode.
[59:47] Speaker 2: It feels built into the game. And like, there's a
[59:49] Speaker 2: little bit of a risk reward of spending some money
[59:51] Speaker 2: to do that instead.
[59:52] Speaker 1: And Mike, one of the first upgrades you get is
[59:54] Speaker 1: a quack shot plunger that lets you bounce off.
[59:56] Speaker 2: Yes.
[59:57] Speaker 1: You attach it to walls and you quack shot plunge
[59:59] Speaker 1: off it.
[59:59] Speaker 2: Oh, fuck me. Yeah. Yeah.
[1:00:01] Speaker 3: God.
[1:00:03] Speaker 4: That was one of the first favorite mechanics I had
[1:00:04] Speaker 4: in a video game. I remember the first time I
[1:00:06] Speaker 4: shot that plunger, I was like, this is the greatest
[1:00:08] Speaker 4: idea I've ever seen.
[1:00:10] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's great. And a lot of the platforming is
[1:00:12] Speaker 2: based on that.
[1:00:12] Speaker 1: Yeah, and you can only do it at least when
[1:00:14] Speaker 1: you first get it. You have to be standing on ground.
[1:00:16] Speaker 1: They're really clever puzzles even right at the beginning where
[1:00:19] Speaker 1: it's like, okay, if I lower this thing down, I
[1:00:21] Speaker 1: can shoot this plunger thing on it. But you can't
[1:00:23] Speaker 1: jump and hit it, you know?
[1:00:25] Speaker 2: That's awesome.
[1:00:26] Speaker 4: More games should take inspiration from Quackshot.
[1:00:28] Speaker 2: I agree. Maybe Goof Troop as well, perhaps. Oh, absolutely.
[1:00:33] Speaker 2: We're not talking about that. Yeah. Dr. Blow got that medal, apparently.
[1:00:40] Speaker 3: Dang, I don't need another game to play in the meantime.
[1:00:43] Speaker 2: People are saying this one's manageable. They 100%ed it in
[1:00:47] Speaker 2: 10 hours.
[1:00:47] Speaker 4: That's awesome to hear. I don't think we're talking about
[1:00:53] Speaker 4: Fire Emblem much more today, but I play the game
[1:00:54] Speaker 4: and I'm loving it. Not loving it, I'm liking it.
[1:00:57] Speaker 4: But even still... Like, every time I start up, I
[1:01:00] Speaker 4: almost feel intimidated. It's like, ah, this game is really,
[1:01:02] Speaker 4: really big. And I feel like it's one of those
[1:01:04] Speaker 4: baby moments. I'm like, I was just, like, going around
[1:01:07] Speaker 4: the map for the first time, kind of before my
[1:01:09] Speaker 4: first deadline thing. I recruited my first person. I've heard
[1:01:13] Speaker 4: there's a lot of people complaining about how kind of
[1:01:14] Speaker 4: useless late game recruits are in the game. And the
[1:01:17] Speaker 4: recruiting process is kind of annoying.
[1:01:18] Speaker 2: You know, that's true until, like, you are doing your...
[1:01:23] Speaker 2: second or third campaign. Sure. And then at that point,
[1:01:26] Speaker 2: it's like, I am rushing through so much that late,
[1:01:29] Speaker 2: that late, uh, campaign recruit who actually is the right
[1:01:33] Speaker 2: level right now is pretty handy sometimes. So yeah, on
[1:01:35] Speaker 2: your first run through that is true, but it's not
[1:01:37] Speaker 2: true in every way in this game. So yeah, I'm
[1:01:40] Speaker 2: enjoying any, it's, it's still somehow intimidates me for some reason.
[1:01:43] Speaker 3: Yeah. You know, speaking about like circling back to things, I,
[1:01:47] Speaker 3: I'm finding fire emblem fortunes. We've to be too intimidating.
[1:01:50] Speaker 3: So sticking with, uh, Star Wars Zero Company, and then
[1:01:55] Speaker 3: bouncing between Control Resident. But lately, I've been finding myself
[1:01:59] Speaker 3: going back to Onimusha, Way of the Sword, and just
[1:02:02] Speaker 3: doing boss fights that I really like.
[1:02:04] Speaker 2: That's my Switch 2 game. That's the game I'm playing
[1:02:07] Speaker 2: on Switch 2. Just because, like, that parry.
[1:02:09] Speaker 3: And then it's funny because in my initial playthrough, I
[1:02:12] Speaker 3: had a hard time getting the Ys encounters right. And
[1:02:15] Speaker 3: those are the ones where you hit the attack button
[1:02:18] Speaker 3: right before you're supposed to get hit. but now gang
[1:02:21] Speaker 3: fucking lightning, right? Like reflexes. I haven't really messed with
[1:02:25] Speaker 3: those much. I'm kind of all dodge and parry. Like
[1:02:27] Speaker 3: I've been intimidated too by that.
[1:02:28] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:02:29] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[1:02:29] Speaker 4: I haven't done a whole lot of those. I just,
[1:02:31] Speaker 4: I've been sticking with them like safer parries. Yeah.
[1:02:34] Speaker 3: Because, um, when you, you know, the game has been
[1:02:37] Speaker 3: out for a bit, but you do get an Oni
[1:02:38] Speaker 3: mode where you, uh, like juice up, you get like
[1:02:41] Speaker 3: a power, a power up, right? You get into this altered,
[1:02:44] Speaker 3: like rage state with Oni powers. And, uh, if you
[1:02:49] Speaker 3: can nail the Eason attacks there, you do way, way,
[1:02:53] Speaker 3: way more damage where you're almost, you get close to
[1:02:56] Speaker 3: one-shotting some of the bosses where it then only takes
[1:03:00] Speaker 3: like three hits to get their like stagger meter up
[1:03:03] Speaker 3: to get them to that stage where you have to
[1:03:07] Speaker 3: choose like a part to attack. It's really fucking good.
[1:03:10] Speaker 3: And I don't normally like bump the difficulty up on
[1:03:13] Speaker 3: a game, right? But here it's just been fun to
[1:03:16] Speaker 3: do with Onimusha Way of the Sword. Folks, I think
[1:03:19] Speaker 3: that does it for video game talk. We got a
[1:03:22] Speaker 3: lot of stuff also percolating in the background that we
[1:03:25] Speaker 3: cannot talk to you about quite yet. But folks, soon.
[1:03:30] Speaker 2: Stay tuned.
[1:03:31] Speaker 3: Stay tuned. Folks, we're going to hear from our dear
[1:03:34] Speaker 3: friends over at Kepler during the bricky break. And then
[1:03:37] Speaker 3: after that, we'll get to the news right after this.
[1:03:44] Speaker 3: Shouts out to our friends over at Kepler. And once again,
[1:03:49] Speaker 3: I'm going to toss it to Jeff Backlar to detail
[1:03:52] Speaker 3: the little code giveaway we're doing right now.
[1:03:56] Speaker 2: Oh, hell yeah. That's right.
[1:03:57] Speaker 5: We are excited to give away codes for Sifu and
[1:04:02] Speaker 5: Pacific Drive. Like I said, we've got 50 each of
[1:04:06] Speaker 5: those for a total of 100. You'll get one at
[1:04:09] Speaker 5: random if you are a new Giant Bomb Premium subscriber.
[1:04:14] Speaker 5: uh thanks to kepler for hooking it up uh not
[1:04:18] Speaker 5: not exactly a sponsorship just more like a hey a
[1:04:21] Speaker 5: little little nice gesture really appreciate it from we fuck
[1:04:23] Speaker 5: with you yeah we bang with y'all yes that's that's
[1:04:26] Speaker 5: what the email contained the subject.
[1:04:27] Speaker 4: Line was that's actually written down somewhere grub offered to
[1:04:30] Speaker 4: play goose troop with them.
[1:04:32] Speaker 2: Yeah yeah yeah And they said, oh, that'd be really
[1:04:35] Speaker 2: funny if Mike's not around.
[1:04:36] Speaker 5: And yeah, so listen, again, I cannot stress this enough,
[1:04:41] Speaker 5: mostly because I don't want Chuck complaining to me.
[1:04:44] Speaker 2: You have to.
[1:04:45] Speaker 5: You have to connect your YouTube membership to your email
[1:04:49] Speaker 5: address through the site so that you can have eligibility
[1:04:53] Speaker 5: for getting that code. Again, new subscribers only, no matter
[1:04:57] Speaker 5: where you sign up. Thank you so very much. We
[1:04:59] Speaker 5: love you very much. Enjoy the games.
[1:05:01] Speaker 2: And thank you again to Kepler. Yes, yes.
[1:05:03] Speaker 3: And you will not immediately get your code because Mikey
[1:05:06] Speaker 3: still has to manually send that over to you.
[1:05:08] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[1:05:09] Speaker 2: Don't worry. We'll reach out to you. Yeah, you'll get
[1:05:12] Speaker 2: your code. We'll take care of you. We'll take care
[1:05:15] Speaker 2: of you. Don't worry. We take care of you over here.
[1:05:17] Speaker 2: What is this?
[1:05:20] Speaker 3: Oh, Mikey's going in mob mode. He's ready to escalate
[1:05:24] Speaker 3: and retaliate.
[1:05:25] Speaker 2: Hey, I'm Mobbing Mike Minardi. What's it to you? Hey,
[1:05:29] Speaker 2: we're mobbing here. It would be very funny if he
[1:05:31] Speaker 2: showed up with AJ and Chris behind him dressed up
[1:05:34] Speaker 2: in suits to break my kneecaps or something.
[1:05:36] Speaker 3: No, yeah, they're wearing tank tops, bowling shirts, and chains.
[1:05:41] Speaker 5: Mike, no offense, but I want you to be better
[1:05:43] Speaker 5: at that.
[1:05:44] Speaker 2: LAUGHTER Yeah, you'd think I would be better. I get it.
[1:05:53] Speaker 2: What can I do there, maybe? All right. What can
[1:05:57] Speaker 2: I do?
[1:05:58] Speaker 4: My Norse star for it is like what Tony tight
[1:06:00] Speaker 4: tips or whatever from the Simpsons, right?
[1:06:02] Speaker 2: Yeah, the Simpsons.
[1:06:03] Speaker 3: I thought you said your Norse star instead of North.
[1:06:06] Speaker 2: That's my ears. He's got a deeper voice, right? Yes,
[1:06:09] Speaker 2: the Norse mafia. There's Thor. There's Loki. Thor's like 11.
[1:06:14] Speaker 2: That is the Norse Mafia. That techno Viking from that
[1:06:17] Speaker 2: one internet video.
[1:06:18] Speaker 3: Yeah, right, right. That one Viking from January 6th.
[1:06:22] Speaker 2: Yep. Anyway, the news. All the stars. All right. Doesn't
[1:06:29] Speaker 2: Norse just mean northerner? Is that what the Norseman is? Okay.
[1:06:35] Speaker 2: There's no way to know. There's no way to know.
[1:06:37] Speaker 2: Don't worry.
[1:06:37] Speaker 4: Stay.
[1:06:38] Speaker 2: Welcome to the news, everybody. Yes. Wait.
[1:06:40] Speaker 4: No.
[1:06:41] Speaker 2: Let's do this real quick. Actually, since we went live,
[1:06:43] Speaker 2: I believe that Game Informer's issue about Grand Theft Auto 6,
[1:06:48] Speaker 2: the digital version, is up. People should go check that out.
[1:06:50] Speaker 2: It seems like they did a lot of great work.
[1:06:52] Speaker 2: And I will point out again, Marcus Stewart, who is
[1:06:54] Speaker 2: from South Florida, did the cover story. And so if
[1:06:57] Speaker 2: you are concerned about South Florida being accurately represented, I
[1:07:01] Speaker 2: believe he's the man for the job. So I'm excited
[1:07:03] Speaker 2: to go read that myself. Marcus is a cool guy anyway. Yes,
[1:07:06] Speaker 2: he is.
[1:07:07] Speaker 3: Marcus is sick as hell.
[1:07:08] Speaker 2: Love Marcus. We are all big fans of Marcus, absolutely,
[1:07:10] Speaker 2: and everyone over at Game Informer. The one thing that
[1:07:13] Speaker 2: has popped up that I've seen since this went up,
[1:07:15] Speaker 2: and I think it's happened since we've been here, so
[1:07:16] Speaker 2: I haven't seen a ton. I was yesterday like, oh,
[1:07:18] Speaker 2: there's advanced weather tech. And I hope there's actually hurricanes
[1:07:21] Speaker 2: in the game and there will be. So that's that's
[1:07:24] Speaker 2: the kind of stuff that like actually does get gets
[1:07:26] Speaker 2: it gets my goat a little bit where I'm like, oh, man,
[1:07:28] Speaker 2: I want to see what that would look like in
[1:07:31] Speaker 2: this open world and experience that. And kind of I
[1:07:33] Speaker 2: hope that there's systems involved, like battening down the hatches
[1:07:36] Speaker 2: or whatever. Oh, cool. Yeah. I kind of want to
[1:07:39] Speaker 2: see what that's like now. It's, you know, could just
[1:07:40] Speaker 2: be very. like a visual thing and maybe affect some things,
[1:07:44] Speaker 2: but I hope it's a little bit deeper than that.
[1:07:46] Speaker 2: And it sounds like they're going for a lot of
[1:07:47] Speaker 2: very simulated aspects to this game. So hopefully it.
[1:07:50] Speaker 5: Seems reasonable to expect a more kind of realistic impact
[1:07:53] Speaker 5: on your, on your play, you know, also nothing should
[1:07:56] Speaker 5: be insurable in the game.
[1:07:58] Speaker 3: Yeah. Right. Yeah.
[1:07:59] Speaker 2: Or it's just, yeah, extremely high premiums. Exactly.
[1:08:03] Speaker 3: Let me do insurance fraud in the game.
[1:08:05] Speaker 2: Huh? Yeah.
[1:08:06] Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
[1:08:06] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[1:08:09] Speaker 2: Man, it's weird that I think about Saints Row when
[1:08:12] Speaker 2: I hear the words insurance fraud first, but I guess
[1:08:13] Speaker 2: it's not that weird. It was a fun movie. Yeah.
[1:08:16] Speaker 2: They put in all of them and it was always great.
[1:08:18] Speaker 2: All right. So that's the one little tidbit from that.
[1:08:20] Speaker 2: If there's anything more, I'll talk about it on Game
[1:08:22] Speaker 2: Mess Morning tomorrow. But again, go read their story. Naughty
[1:08:25] Speaker 2: Dog finally put a window on getting more intergalactic news. Intergalactic,
[1:08:29] Speaker 2: the heretic prophet, the heretic prophet, intergalactic. That's coming out.
[1:08:33] Speaker 2: Beastie Boys. Beastie Boys. Yes, exactly. Very well done. The
[1:08:38] Speaker 2: thing here is they're not saying the game is coming
[1:08:40] Speaker 2: out in 2027, but they will fully reveal it in 2027,
[1:08:44] Speaker 2: and they'll be quiet about it for the rest of
[1:08:46] Speaker 2: this year. So nothing at the Game Awards or anything.
[1:08:49] Speaker 2: I'm of the opinion that this game actually probably is
[1:08:51] Speaker 2: coming out late next year. So they have um god
[1:08:54] Speaker 2: of war lao fei in february i want to say
[1:08:57] Speaker 2: pretty early next year yeah yeah pretty early next year
[1:09:00] Speaker 2: i think it's february and then they usually try to
[1:09:03] Speaker 2: have two big games a year at least obviously the
[1:09:06] Speaker 2: game will have to be finished they'll have to actually
[1:09:08] Speaker 2: get it done but it does seem like there's a
[1:09:09] Speaker 2: chance if especially they're fully revealing it next year It
[1:09:13] Speaker 2: could come out next holiday. What do you guys think?
[1:09:16] Speaker 2: And where's your sort of hype level, for lack of
[1:09:19] Speaker 2: a better word, for Intergalactic? I don't know.
[1:09:20] Speaker 3: I like space-themed stuff, especially if it's not like, I guess,
[1:09:27] Speaker 3: real space and it has like a fun twist on
[1:09:30] Speaker 3: the sci-fi element, perhaps like retrofuturism. I don't quite know
[1:09:33] Speaker 3: what they're going for in Intergalactic, but sometimes with some
[1:09:39] Speaker 3: Druckmann stuff can be a little bit, long of the
[1:09:42] Speaker 3: tooth you know.
[1:09:43] Speaker 4: Yeah i wonder if there will be a bit more
[1:09:45] Speaker 4: uh levity perhaps in in in this one no you
[1:09:49] Speaker 4: know it gets like maybe it's because again i am
[1:09:52] Speaker 4: right now in this boy lots of just melee combat
[1:09:55] Speaker 4: games this is kind of another one of those from
[1:09:57] Speaker 4: a publisher who recently has been specializing in third person
[1:10:00] Speaker 4: shooter stuff and said they're going the melee combat route
[1:10:02] Speaker 4: as well so i'm like okay how are how are
[1:10:04] Speaker 4: they going to make that interesting are they going to
[1:10:06] Speaker 4: have an interesting spin on that or Or are they
[1:10:08] Speaker 4: kind of just hoping for the presentation and the story
[1:10:10] Speaker 4: stuff to carry it forward again, which maybe won't do
[1:10:13] Speaker 4: quite as much for me. So I definitely want to
[1:10:15] Speaker 4: see more of the game. Late next year definitely seems ideal.
[1:10:19] Speaker 4: There's always a possibility it's even later than that. It's
[1:10:23] Speaker 4: just been so long since we've gotten a Naughty Dog
[1:10:25] Speaker 4: game that isn't just a remaster or a remake. Last
[1:10:29] Speaker 4: of Us Part 2 feels like forever ago.
[1:10:34] Speaker 2: I can't remember the exact verbiage around it, but there
[1:10:37] Speaker 2: were some interviews around the time when they were first
[1:10:39] Speaker 2: debuting Intergalactic about they were trying to use more open worlds, bigger,
[1:10:46] Speaker 2: wider open spaces that you're going to explore. And yeah,
[1:10:50] Speaker 2: then melee combat being very prominent here. So it does
[1:10:54] Speaker 2: feel like they're trying to do something different. I also
[1:10:57] Speaker 2: want to say that they... Maybe Druckmann himself or someone
[1:11:00] Speaker 2: else at Naughty Dog said they were inspired by some
[1:11:03] Speaker 2: of the more open games like Breath of the Wild, maybe.
[1:11:06] Speaker 2: And they're going to try to bring some of that
[1:11:07] Speaker 2: energy into this game. Obviously, we've not seen anything that's
[1:11:11] Speaker 2: going to be like, well, obviously, that's where they were
[1:11:13] Speaker 2: inspired by. But I kind of hope that they are
[1:11:15] Speaker 2: going to do something a little bit different on that front.
[1:11:18] Speaker 2: Just because for me, the Naughty Dog games usually miss, usually.
[1:11:23] Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm trying to think of, like, how the melee
[1:11:25] Speaker 3: was handled in The Last of Us Part II. Not
[1:11:27] Speaker 3: that Intergalactic would have the same combat system at all.
[1:11:30] Speaker 3: It was pretty simple there, but that way... Yeah, not
[1:11:32] Speaker 3: a lot to it.
[1:11:33] Speaker 4: Yeah, that game's focused largely on, like, the kind of
[1:11:35] Speaker 4: stealth stuff and even more the shooting, I think, than
[1:11:38] Speaker 4: the melee.
[1:11:39] Speaker 2: So, who knows?
[1:11:40] Speaker 4: You know, someone in chat said that he's mentioned Bloodborne
[1:11:43] Speaker 4: as an inspiration, so... I mean, you know, if it
[1:11:46] Speaker 4: leans more in the Souls category, I would definitely be
[1:11:49] Speaker 4: interested in that.
[1:11:50] Speaker 2: That sounds right. Yes. Being inspired by Souls was awesome.
[1:11:54] Speaker 2: I mean, that's just being a developer, especially like a
[1:11:58] Speaker 2: lead designer, is like you play a Souls-borne game, you
[1:12:01] Speaker 2: play Breath of the Wild, you play Hades. These are
[1:12:03] Speaker 2: the games that they've all played and get inspired by.
[1:12:06] Speaker 2: It's like, I wish our game felt more like this.
[1:12:09] Speaker 2: We'll see how much that actually manifests in the final thing.
[1:12:11] Speaker 3: My question is... will they actually have the Beastie Boys
[1:12:15] Speaker 3: song in it?
[1:12:15] Speaker 2: I hope so. Probably not. Yeah, I don't know.
[1:12:20] Speaker 5: Yeah, that's a good, that's actually like a strange but
[1:12:25] Speaker 5: good question, I think.
[1:12:27] Speaker 2: Maybe they'll have Sabotage instead. That would be funny. Chunky monkey.
[1:12:34] Speaker 2: The trailer was like a bunch of, as you said, Jan,
[1:12:37] Speaker 2: future retro, yeah, future retroism. Yeah, retrofuturism, excuse me. And
[1:12:43] Speaker 2: it was like Porsche and like the spaceship was like
[1:12:46] Speaker 2: a Porsche branded. Yeah. Was there Coca-Cola? And then obviously Sony. Yeah. Yeah.
[1:12:51] Speaker 2: Like a Discman or something.
[1:12:53] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[1:12:53] Speaker 2: So I think they'll probably have some like needle drops
[1:12:56] Speaker 2: in there. Yeah. Presumably they licensed some stuff. I don't know.
[1:12:59] Speaker 5: I think I've not made room in my mind. To
[1:13:04] Speaker 5: be excited for this yet Do you know what I mean?
[1:13:07] Speaker 5: It still seems far out enough.
[1:13:09] Speaker 2: We can get on the other side of God of
[1:13:11] Speaker 2: War Laufey And then I'll be like Okay what's PlayStation
[1:13:14] Speaker 2: got next for.
[1:13:15] Speaker 3: Sure I definitely hope it is lighter in tone Yeah
[1:13:19] Speaker 3: sure I think that that is It has to be
[1:13:21] Speaker 3: I feel like they've already presented.
[1:13:24] Speaker 4: It that way It can't be It can't like equal
[1:13:26] Speaker 4: or somehow be darker Than Last of Us Part 2
[1:13:29] Speaker 4: Right at this point I don't expect them to go
[1:13:31] Speaker 4: full Uncharted again But you know got too many syllables
[1:13:35] Speaker 4: like what are we doing intergalactic the heretic prophet yeah
[1:13:37] Speaker 4: it does not roll like many people having to make
[1:13:40] Speaker 4: these decisions and you end up with a name like
[1:13:42] Speaker 4: that still like just yeah it sounds like those are
[1:13:45] Speaker 4: the two names they won and like we'll just use
[1:13:47] Speaker 4: both of them and now we have this jumble of.
[1:13:49] Speaker 2: Words sentence yeah just a sentence does does uh yeah
[1:13:54] Speaker 2: that's a good question chad Dan, does the real brands
[1:13:57] Speaker 2: help you center and be like, this could be a
[1:13:58] Speaker 2: real thing? Or is it too sci-fi? I was thinking
[1:14:00] Speaker 2: about this. I was thinking about this. Okay, I was
[1:14:01] Speaker 2: wondering now.
[1:14:02] Speaker 1: Because space exists and space travel exists. And from that
[1:14:06] Speaker 1: trailer I saw, it seems like it's just like humans
[1:14:08] Speaker 1: in space with Earth brands.
[1:14:10] Speaker 2: So, like, this all is fine. Yeah. No, I'm kidding.
[1:14:13] Speaker 2: This all is fine. This all can work and exist. Yeah,
[1:14:17] Speaker 2: it's okay. It's fine. Yeah. A PlayStation controller that takes
[1:14:21] Speaker 2: credit cards. A newly published Sony patent describes tapping a
[1:14:26] Speaker 2: card or phone against the controller to pay for games
[1:14:29] Speaker 2: and add ons, basically using an amiibo like NFC reader.
[1:14:32] Speaker 2: So instead of tapping your amiibo on there, you're going
[1:14:35] Speaker 2: to tap your credit card or your phone. and it
[1:14:37] Speaker 2: could just process the payment like that. I'm almost surprised
[1:14:41] Speaker 2: this hasn't happened yet here. Apparently, this did happen on
[1:14:44] Speaker 2: the Wii U in Japan. So it's happened before.
[1:14:48] Speaker 1: I'm only going to tap Amiibos on it.
[1:14:51] Speaker 5: Everyone, and again, I feel like some people assume that
[1:14:55] Speaker 5: I'd be the last person to endorse a thing like this,
[1:14:57] Speaker 5: and perhaps, and I like your instincts, right? But, A,
[1:15:03] Speaker 5: it's insane that it hasn't happened before. But we're always
[1:15:06] Speaker 5: last to everything because we're fucking morons. B, this will
[1:15:10] Speaker 5: be better. Look, you buy shit, this will be better
[1:15:13] Speaker 5: than entering your credit card.
[1:15:14] Speaker 2: It's just better. It's just better. It's just better.
[1:15:16] Speaker 5: I understand it feels icky and we have to just
[1:15:20] Speaker 5: understand it is icky, but it's also going to be
[1:15:24] Speaker 5: At the.
[1:15:24] Speaker 2: End of the day, it's not that different, right? You're
[1:15:26] Speaker 2: still pulling out your credit card and making a purchase.
[1:15:29] Speaker 2: I do hate punching my credit card in on my phone.
[1:15:35] Speaker 4: They definitely want to make it as easy as possible
[1:15:38] Speaker 4: so that you don't second guess or third guess that purchase, right?
[1:15:43] Speaker 2: I understand that's their motivation, but there's a part of
[1:15:45] Speaker 2: me like, yeah, that's easier for me, though.
[1:15:48] Speaker 5: The icky thing is how much easier it is, right?
[1:15:51] Speaker 5: It's both things. It's more convenient and it's easier probably
[1:15:54] Speaker 5: in a, you know, obviously a predatory way.
[1:15:56] Speaker 2: It's not the, it's not something I'm going to get.
[1:15:59] Speaker 2: I don't know. too worked up about yeah i'm not
[1:16:01] Speaker 2: yeah i'm not hot about it i'm just like i
[1:16:03] Speaker 2: know i can like those.
[1:16:04] Speaker 4: Call of duty skins right of course yes without a doubt.
[1:16:08] Speaker 2: I'm gonna go on a yeah i'm gonna stand in
[1:16:11] Speaker 2: front of activision for that um yeah this is the
[1:16:13] Speaker 2: thing where it's like ah yeah this is where sony
[1:16:15] Speaker 2: is innovating on fun ways for us to spend money
[1:16:17] Speaker 2: in a more easier way that's where their research and
[1:16:20] Speaker 2: development is focused and i do notice that but whatever
[1:16:24] Speaker 2: NIS America is talking to Sony about the future of
[1:16:26] Speaker 2: PlayStation discs at PAX West. Nippon Ichi software CEO and
[1:16:31] Speaker 2: NIS America president Kinzo Saruhashi told Kotaku that NISA has
[1:16:37] Speaker 2: discussed Sony's plan to stop manufacturing discs for new PlayStation
[1:16:40] Speaker 2: games starting in 2028. Physical limited editions are a significant
[1:16:44] Speaker 2: part of NISA's business. Saruhashi thinks Sony is hearing customer
[1:16:48] Speaker 2: feedback and said the discussion could change. A box to
[1:16:52] Speaker 2: download COD code is one possible outcome, but he says
[1:16:56] Speaker 2: it's not the only thing that's that they're thinking about
[1:16:59] Speaker 2: or that is being discussed. But of course, Sony has
[1:17:01] Speaker 2: not announced any changes to its plans. This is just
[1:17:04] Speaker 2: one more piece on the pile of there is an
[1:17:06] Speaker 2: ongoing conversation, not just from angry, loud fans about the
[1:17:10] Speaker 2: pushback of Sony moving away from discs. There are these
[1:17:14] Speaker 2: mid-sized and smaller publishers saying, who have made a business
[1:17:17] Speaker 2: model out of selling collector's editions that include a disc
[1:17:20] Speaker 2: to their most rabid fan base so they can create
[1:17:23] Speaker 2: the biggest profit margin possible. And this will affect them
[1:17:28] Speaker 2: because they're going to have a harder time selling collector's
[1:17:29] Speaker 2: editions that don't include a disc and a download code
[1:17:33] Speaker 2: doesn't have the same effect in a collector's edition. Do
[1:17:37] Speaker 2: you guys think when a publisher like this not just
[1:17:40] Speaker 2: gets involved, but it's out there publicly saying, yeah, we're
[1:17:42] Speaker 2: talking to Sony about this. This isn't good for us.
[1:17:45] Speaker 2: Does that turn up the pressure? I just don't know.
[1:17:50] Speaker 3: I can't tell with PlayStation and just like, sure, they're
[1:17:53] Speaker 3: talking to these devs that they're close partners with, but
[1:17:57] Speaker 3: I would have hoped that these conversations would have happened
[1:17:59] Speaker 3: much sooner before any of these big statements go public,
[1:18:03] Speaker 3: just because I think about how this also will affect
[1:18:07] Speaker 3: their partners down the line as well. Some people don't
[1:18:10] Speaker 3: want to download a game. Some people just hardcore just
[1:18:13] Speaker 3: want a physical disc still. Yeah.
[1:18:16] Speaker 2: I mean, that's gaming to a lot of people, is
[1:18:17] Speaker 2: the collection. Yeah.
[1:18:19] Speaker 4: I still just, you know, Sony seems to be more
[1:18:22] Speaker 4: on the ropes with this than they have yet. Just
[1:18:25] Speaker 4: like how much, you know, still kind of constant negative
[1:18:28] Speaker 4: feedback from players there is, and now some of the
[1:18:30] Speaker 4: publishers being unhappy. Yet I still feel like internally they're
[1:18:32] Speaker 4: probably thinking, we already have this band-aid halfway pulled off now.
[1:18:38] Speaker 4: Why are we going to put it back on now
[1:18:39] Speaker 4: just to rip it off at some point in the future?
[1:18:41] Speaker 4: I don't think that's the right way to look at it,
[1:18:44] Speaker 4: but I bet that's how they're going to look at it.
[1:18:47] Speaker 2: If they, you know, he's talked to, talks about other
[1:18:49] Speaker 2: solutions here. Can you guys think of any other solution?
[1:18:52] Speaker 2: Like someone chats, like, can Sony have the equivalent of
[1:18:54] Speaker 2: their game key card? Could they put it on a
[1:18:57] Speaker 2: USB stick? Is there some other physical form of media
[1:19:02] Speaker 2: they can put into a collector's edition? Yeah, right. And
[1:19:06] Speaker 2: it's just like, for me, if it's not a disc,
[1:19:09] Speaker 2: it kind of doesn't solve the entire problem because people
[1:19:12] Speaker 2: are going to have a collection of discs already that
[1:19:15] Speaker 2: they're going to want to work. So if you're going
[1:19:16] Speaker 2: to keep those as something that can work on a
[1:19:19] Speaker 2: PS six in some way by plugging in maybe a
[1:19:21] Speaker 2: third party disc drive, uh, then just keep putting them
[1:19:24] Speaker 2: on discs and they're not going to do that.
[1:19:25] Speaker 4: Imprint the game code onto a bar of gold or something.
[1:19:29] Speaker 2: Make it real. Oh, I like this. You could tap,
[1:19:32] Speaker 2: tap it on the controller, right? Yeah.
[1:19:34] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[1:19:34] Speaker 2: Yeah. And that, and that thing is some, maybe some,
[1:19:36] Speaker 2: you could, you could sell that thing. I mean, maybe
[1:19:38] Speaker 2: there's something to that. I don't know.
[1:19:39] Speaker 3: Get a bring back VM use, but for the PlayStation, I, I.
[1:19:45] Speaker 2: If they did that and they kept it just to
[1:19:47] Speaker 2: collector's editions or limited it to like their, their, the
[1:19:50] Speaker 2: partners like NIS who sell a lot of collector's editions,
[1:19:53] Speaker 2: I think they would still get the benefit of most
[1:19:55] Speaker 2: people shifting to buying digital. And that's the benefit for
[1:19:57] Speaker 2: Sony improving their profit margin. So maybe they'll find some
[1:20:00] Speaker 2: middle ground, but I don't know. It could be fun
[1:20:02] Speaker 2: if it's like something you tap on your controller. I
[1:20:04] Speaker 2: don't know if that would be the kind of thing
[1:20:06] Speaker 2: that would keep a lot of the people who are
[1:20:08] Speaker 2: mad now happy. So it might not be worth doing
[1:20:10] Speaker 2: the half measure in the, in the, in the end,
[1:20:13] Speaker 2: in the long run. All right, last week, everybody's talking
[1:20:16] Speaker 2: about it. Meta's new VR headset is going to cost $ 1, 300.
[1:20:20] Speaker 2: Looks like glasses, and it looks like glasses because it
[1:20:23] Speaker 2: has a little puck that hangs off and you put
[1:20:25] Speaker 2: in your pocket, and that's where all the processing is done.
[1:20:29] Speaker 2: It's coming spring 2027. It has a smaller field of
[1:20:31] Speaker 2: view because they are just glasses than the Quest 3.
[1:20:35] Speaker 2: Something like, yeah, roughly 70 by 66 degrees of your
[1:20:38] Speaker 2: field of vision versus the Quest 3's 110 by 96 degrees.
[1:20:43] Speaker 2: it works a lot like a quest. It will not
[1:20:45] Speaker 2: come with controllers, but the controllers can be added later.
[1:20:48] Speaker 2: So a lot of the games it's going to surface
[1:20:50] Speaker 2: will be just hand tracking games. And I don't know,
[1:20:54] Speaker 2: is this the thing that makes VR work for a
[1:20:57] Speaker 2: wider audience? Cause it sure doesn't feel like it.
[1:20:59] Speaker 1: Beat saber will be fine.
[1:21:00] Speaker 2: Beat saber does have a new version for this Tetris,
[1:21:04] Speaker 2: a Tetris effect connected.
[1:21:05] Speaker 1: Maybe we'll finally play Half-Life Alex.
[1:21:07] Speaker 2: Maybe. Yeah.
[1:21:08] Speaker 1: One of these, one of these, we're going to get there.
[1:21:11] Speaker 3: I watched, shout out to Norman Chan from Tested. I
[1:21:14] Speaker 3: watched the video that they put out on this thing
[1:21:17] Speaker 3: just because I was just curious what other people's take
[1:21:20] Speaker 3: on it was. And it definitely seemed like the gaming
[1:21:24] Speaker 3: aspect was being devalued here.
[1:21:26] Speaker 4: It is.
[1:21:26] Speaker 3: Just like unprioritized. So I feel like this is meta.
[1:21:30] Speaker 3: The future is for perfect glasses.
[1:21:32] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:21:33] Speaker 3: This is just meta trying to just, get you sitting
[1:21:36] Speaker 3: down and tracking that eyeball data and whatever you are
[1:21:39] Speaker 3: going to be scrolling through.
[1:21:40] Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, I think they want to keep this
[1:21:43] Speaker 2: side of the business going because the pervert glasses that
[1:21:47] Speaker 2: don't have the full breadth of like what a quest
[1:21:49] Speaker 2: can do right now, they want to eventually get that
[1:21:52] Speaker 2: stuff in there. So they have to keep developing, developing
[1:21:54] Speaker 2: it for their $ 1, 300 glasses. And then eventually they'll try
[1:21:57] Speaker 2: to put it into the slim down. I don't know
[1:22:00] Speaker 2: how much those Ray-Bans costs, but like $ 700, whatever it is.
[1:22:03] Speaker 2: And they want to be ready for that when it happens. Yeah,
[1:22:07] Speaker 2: I don't know. Not for me. I'm just not interested
[1:22:10] Speaker 2: in the least. And then, all right, last story I
[1:22:13] Speaker 2: have here. Halo is probably going to be rebooted. That's
[1:22:15] Speaker 2: the reporting anyhow. So we know, we talked about it,
[1:22:18] Speaker 2: I think on last week's show, all of the rejiggering
[1:22:21] Speaker 2: of the studios under Microsoft and Xbox Game Studios. And
[1:22:25] Speaker 2: one of the big ones was Halo, not staying under
[1:22:28] Speaker 2: Halo Studios, going under a new studio under Activision that
[1:22:31] Speaker 2: will take the brand going forward. And then since then,
[1:22:35] Speaker 2: we've heard reporting that Halo, when this happens, the next
[1:22:38] Speaker 2: game will be a reboot. So I got a couple
[1:22:42] Speaker 2: of questions to you guys. One is, is that the
[1:22:45] Speaker 2: right decision? And if they do reboot it, should they
[1:22:47] Speaker 2: reboot from the beginning or should they just pretend like
[1:22:50] Speaker 2: four or five and six and infinite never happened and
[1:22:53] Speaker 2: all that stuff? And they just go back to like
[1:22:55] Speaker 2: Halo three where Bungie left off or reach or whatever
[1:22:58] Speaker 2: it is. and continue from there. What do you guys
[1:23:00] Speaker 2: think the right move is? You can start over. Six
[1:23:02] Speaker 2: and infinite. There was no six. Infinite was a six. Yeah, yeah.
[1:23:05] Speaker 3: I just.
[1:23:05] Speaker 2: Yes, six.
[1:23:06] Speaker 4: How dare you?
[1:23:06] Speaker 2: You're demerit. You know, I retire. Mike's right. I'm out
[1:23:10] Speaker 2: of here, guys. First, reboot can mean so many things, right?
[1:23:14] Speaker 4: A lot of times, people just make a new entry
[1:23:17] Speaker 4: that's kind of different, and it's still the same plot continuity,
[1:23:20] Speaker 4: and call.
[1:23:20] Speaker 2: That a reboot. So I don't know.
[1:23:23] Speaker 4: I definitely think that the whole kind of storyline... Focused
[1:23:26] Speaker 4: around the Cortana heel turn that nobody wanted. It's clearly
[1:23:30] Speaker 4: not interested anybody. And a lot of people maybe like
[1:23:33] Speaker 4: to pretend that that didn't happen. Like, I certainly think
[1:23:36] Speaker 4: this is not going to be a sequel to the
[1:23:38] Speaker 4: story of Halo Infinite. I don't know if you just
[1:23:41] Speaker 4: go back to one of the older games and are like,
[1:23:43] Speaker 4: we're in an alternate dimension now where that stuff didn't happen.
[1:23:46] Speaker 4: Maybe you just find a different pocket of this universe.
[1:23:50] Speaker 5: I mean.
[1:23:51] Speaker 4: it's part of me feels like this little crazy maybe
[1:23:53] Speaker 4: it doesn't need to star master chief everybody loved halo
[1:23:56] Speaker 4: reach there's no master chief in that maybe we find
[1:23:58] Speaker 4: some other spartan maybe somebody like the arbiter doesn't even
[1:24:01] Speaker 4: have to be a human there must be something else
[1:24:03] Speaker 4: in this universe that uh we can do i.
[1:24:06] Speaker 3: I think i'm with you mike i think that's a
[1:24:08] Speaker 3: direction i'd prefer over just going back to master chief
[1:24:11] Speaker 3: and cortana um like there has to be a group
[1:24:14] Speaker 3: of spartans i don't know what was that uh first-person
[1:24:17] Speaker 3: Clone Wars game or Clone Trooper game.
[1:24:19] Speaker 2: Oh, Republic Commando, right? Yeah, do that. Do that. There's ODST.
[1:24:24] Speaker 2: ODST was great.
[1:24:24] Speaker 4: There have been other characters and factions in this world
[1:24:28] Speaker 4: that's interesting for sure. I know Halo 5 had Locke
[1:24:33] Speaker 4: and Master Chief, and Locke had no movement going whatsoever.
[1:24:36] Speaker 4: So it's not some slam dunk. And it's scary when
[1:24:38] Speaker 4: you have this iconic character just be like, we're not
[1:24:40] Speaker 4: going to use him.
[1:24:43] Speaker 2: I think you're right.
[1:24:44] Speaker 5: He's not Halo. He's not John Halo. Halo's right here, folks.
[1:24:49] Speaker 5: It's right there in your chat. Halo are the friends
[1:24:52] Speaker 5: we made along the way. And I think it's.
[1:24:55] Speaker 2: Also, he's washed. It's like it's over for him, right?
[1:24:59] Speaker 2: I mean, come on. No one cares. We all agree
[1:25:02] Speaker 2: the story.
[1:25:02] Speaker 5: Is meaningless in these games. We all agree for the
[1:25:05] Speaker 5: most part. So you can kind of have any kind
[1:25:07] Speaker 5: of artistic narrative freedom.
[1:25:08] Speaker 2: That you wish. That's not real. Right. Right.
[1:25:12] Speaker 5: It's a, you know, so you can do whatever you want.
[1:25:15] Speaker 5: And I don't say that in a way to, like,
[1:25:16] Speaker 5: take a dig at the game. I just think that
[1:25:18] Speaker 5: is the least compelling thing about it.
[1:25:20] Speaker 4: Right? There's been moments where the story, I think, has
[1:25:23] Speaker 4: been interesting. You know, like, people do like Halo Reach
[1:25:26] Speaker 4: and what do you see? But not for a while.
[1:25:29] Speaker 4: Not for a while. Certainly not in these newer games
[1:25:31] Speaker 4: has the story been a highlight of the franchise.
[1:25:35] Speaker 3: Agreed.
[1:25:35] Speaker 2: Yeah. I think if they reboot it from the beginning,
[1:25:40] Speaker 2: they'll do it with Master Chief. Like you said, Mike,
[1:25:43] Speaker 2: they'll be too scared not to do it, but I
[1:25:45] Speaker 2: think you are still probably right. They get a cleaner
[1:25:47] Speaker 2: break and really make it their own if they went
[1:25:49] Speaker 2: in a completely different direction. The problem there is you
[1:25:51] Speaker 2: restart from the beginning.
[1:25:52] Speaker 4: How do you not make that feel like the eighth
[1:25:54] Speaker 4: or whatever remake of Halo 1 again, right? You got
[1:25:57] Speaker 4: to find some direction for that that feels very distinct
[1:26:01] Speaker 4: from that.
[1:26:02] Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe the movie is like a legacy sequel or
[1:26:05] Speaker 2: whatever they are calling them these days, where it is
[1:26:07] Speaker 2: a different character and it takes place so far removed
[1:26:09] Speaker 2: from all that stuff that it can use a lot
[1:26:11] Speaker 2: of those elements. But then, you know, there's always the
[1:26:14] Speaker 2: looming of like, when will Master Chief come back? But yeah,
[1:26:17] Speaker 2: when will Master Chief come? Yes, I think, yes, Sam
[1:26:21] Speaker 2: was nice in chat. A lot of people are saying
[1:26:22] Speaker 2: they're like, maybe the right move is to just go
[1:26:24] Speaker 2: back to Halo 3 and pick up from where that
[1:26:27] Speaker 2: left off and carry the story forward in a different
[1:26:29] Speaker 2: direction instead.
[1:26:30] Speaker 3: But Grubb, they finished the fight.
[1:26:32] Speaker 6: In Halo 3 that's always the problem that's the Avengers
[1:26:37] Speaker 6: endgame problem where you have to have that really big
[1:26:39] Speaker 6: boost to the one entry in your franchise by like
[1:26:42] Speaker 6: really emphasizing the finality.
[1:26:43] Speaker 4: Of it but that's a franchise there's gotta be a
[1:26:46] Speaker 4: next one oh no how do we get people excited about.
[1:26:49] Speaker 2: That no one ever learns that lesson I remember it
[1:26:52] Speaker 2: was a Tomb Raider like the fourth one or whatever
[1:26:54] Speaker 2: that was supposed to be the final Lara Croft adventure
[1:26:57] Speaker 2: and then the publisher forced them to make another one
[1:26:59] Speaker 2: right after that and they did not try at.
[1:27:01] Speaker 1: All Kojima has said since Metal Gear Solid 2 that
[1:27:03] Speaker 1: it was his last one directing and like every fucking
[1:27:05] Speaker 1: time he came back.
[1:27:07] Speaker 5: Just reboot it without the little grunt guys.
[1:27:11] Speaker 3: They're great.
[1:27:13] Speaker 4: I love killing those guys. They're my favorite people to kill.
[1:27:18] Speaker 4: I think the opposite. They seem like toddlers and I
[1:27:21] Speaker 4: feel like I'm just mowing them down.
[1:27:22] Speaker 2: What if they were yellow?
[1:27:24] Speaker 1: What if they were yellow and they wore like overalls?
[1:27:31] Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. Then I'm killing them all a lot. And
[1:27:35] Speaker 2: that's fine. Yes.
[1:27:37] Speaker 5: We kill the minions here at Giant Bomb.
[1:27:39] Speaker 2: We kill all the minions. See a minion, kill it.
[1:27:42] Speaker 2: My favorite thing is like the minion people did address like, no,
[1:27:45] Speaker 2: the minions did not work for Hitler. And then everyone's like,
[1:27:48] Speaker 2: but isn't the whole thing is that the minions always
[1:27:51] Speaker 2: work for the most evil person. So you're saying that
[1:27:53] Speaker 2: Hitler wasn't the most evil person, Universal Studios.
[1:27:56] Speaker 5: Oh, man.
[1:27:57] Speaker 2: So yeah, they have a lot of fun over there.
[1:27:59] Speaker 3: Wow.
[1:27:59] Speaker 4: Wow.
[1:28:00] Speaker 2: That's incredible. Is that a Catch-22 or is that something else?
[1:28:03] Speaker 2: That's what the book Catch-22 is about, yes.
[1:28:05] Speaker 5: They literally put their hands up and run away from you.
[1:28:13] Speaker 2: The grunts.
[1:28:13] Speaker 3: The grunts.
[1:28:14] Speaker 4: How many years would it have to be for a
[1:28:17] Speaker 4: Minion movie to come out where Hitler being in it
[1:28:19] Speaker 4: is acceptable?
[1:28:21] Speaker 2: I'm sorry, what?
[1:28:21] Speaker 4: You're thinking like the 3000s? It's like, okay, the time
[1:28:25] Speaker 4: has passed.
[1:28:26] Speaker 2: We could put Hitler in.
[1:28:28] Speaker 4: I imagine they have him work for, like, freaking Genghis Khan.
[1:28:34] Speaker 2: Anyway, that does it for all the news stories. Over
[1:28:36] Speaker 2: to you, Jan.
[1:28:38] Speaker 3: I'm going to need to take a quick breaky break.
[1:28:40] Speaker 3: And then we'll be back with emails and YouTube Super
[1:28:42] Speaker 3: Chats if we have any. Maybe I'll ask someone else
[1:28:45] Speaker 3: to read those. I might put Mikey on a timeout
[1:28:48] Speaker 3: right after this.
[1:28:49] Speaker 4: I think you're all misunderstanding what I'm saying.
[1:28:55] Speaker 3: These are the emails for the show emails bombcastgiantbomb.com is
[1:29:03] Speaker 3: the email address to send your emails to you can
[1:29:05] Speaker 3: write in about any and everything and i will try
[1:29:08] Speaker 3: and get that onto the show thank you so much
[1:29:10] Speaker 3: for everyone for writing in uh i appreciate all of
[1:29:14] Speaker 3: the emails let's get to them max from the netherlands
[1:29:18] Speaker 3: writes in hey duders First of all, you guys have
[1:29:23] Speaker 3: been on fire lately and deserve a week, parentheses or more, off.
[1:29:27] Speaker 3: A week without any obligations other than the things you
[1:29:30] Speaker 3: want to do. With all the cool things you guys
[1:29:32] Speaker 3: are involved in, are there any examples of work you'd
[1:29:35] Speaker 3: wish reached a wider audience? Or is the love and
[1:29:38] Speaker 3: appreciation from the community worth more than an increase in
[1:29:42] Speaker 3: anonymous views? Love you guys and all that you do.
[1:29:45] Speaker 3: Max from the Netherlands.
[1:29:47] Speaker 2: Max? Yeah, more people, of course. I'll tell you, when
[1:29:54] Speaker 2: we do the social videos and sometimes they will go viral,
[1:29:57] Speaker 2: I don't feel anything. I thought I was expecting to
[1:30:03] Speaker 2: feel more accomplished, and it's like, no, that didn't happen. Well,
[1:30:05] Speaker 2: that's not what he's asking. No, no. I'm just like,
[1:30:08] Speaker 2: there are avenues in which more people... You know, obviously
[1:30:11] Speaker 2: that still helps and we're going to keep doing it
[1:30:13] Speaker 2: because it is valuable. But it's when I do feel something,
[1:30:17] Speaker 2: it is people showing up in this community and doing
[1:30:20] Speaker 2: cool stuff. And I would love a lot more people
[1:30:22] Speaker 2: to be involved in that.
[1:30:24] Speaker 3: Yeah, I like when I see the numbers of people
[1:30:26] Speaker 3: watching go up.
[1:30:28] Speaker 2: That's good.
[1:30:29] Speaker 4: I know that it's a trick because of the way
[1:30:31] Speaker 4: YouTube changed how it counts views, but I do like
[1:30:33] Speaker 4: how our views on YouTube.
[1:30:35] Speaker 2: Have gone up because of that.
[1:30:37] Speaker 4: I do like everything. Oh, man, everything reaches five digits
[1:30:40] Speaker 4: or more now.
[1:30:40] Speaker 2: This is great. That makes me feel better.
[1:30:43] Speaker 4: I think everybody watch Final Genesee 14.
[1:30:46] Speaker 2: That's all. I'll say that right now.
[1:30:47] Speaker 4: If that one doesn't reach enough, then I'll be sad.
[1:30:49] Speaker 4: But watch Final Genesee and we'll be good.
[1:30:51] Speaker 1: Everyone sign up for premium and watch the Goop Troop.
[1:30:54] Speaker 2: Goop Troop rides.
[1:30:55] Speaker 3: Whenever we do something that, like, requires a lot of editing,
[1:30:59] Speaker 3: I do get pleased. You know, I know that our
[1:31:02] Speaker 3: numbers aren't always da best, but seeing Catch Me If
[1:31:06] Speaker 3: You Dan 2 out on YouTube now, like, crack 20K by, like,
[1:31:11] Speaker 3: Monday was like, oh, look at us. That's great. I'm
[1:31:14] Speaker 3: glad about that. Also seeing folks that, like, know of
[1:31:18] Speaker 3: us through friends and our other appearances throughout the internet
[1:31:23] Speaker 3: when they come to watch our stuff and then they
[1:31:25] Speaker 3: start hanging out and stick around. I'm like, oh, that's great.
[1:31:28] Speaker 3: Do that some more, please. We love that. We love that.
[1:31:33] Speaker 3: Let's see. I don't have the emailer here. I'll go
[1:31:37] Speaker 3: look for that later. R from Co, Colorado, I'm assuming. Hello,
[1:31:41] Speaker 3: Giant Bomb. Long time listener. First time emailer. I appreciate that.
[1:31:46] Speaker 3: What each of you bring to the table and look
[1:31:48] Speaker 3: forward to all the content you put out. On to
[1:31:50] Speaker 3: my question. What game studio would you like to see
[1:31:54] Speaker 3: develop a game from a franchise that they were not
[1:31:57] Speaker 3: previously involved with? Example, Insomniac developing an Assassin's Creed game.
[1:32:02] Speaker 3: Thanks for all that you do. And the best of
[1:32:04] Speaker 3: luck to each of you are from Colorado.
[1:32:07] Speaker 2: Yeah. Go ahead, Mike.
[1:32:09] Speaker 4: I want tribute games to people who did that. Teenage
[1:32:12] Speaker 4: Mutant Ninja Turtles beat-em-up and then that Marvel one. I
[1:32:14] Speaker 4: want them to make a Simpsons beat-em-up.
[1:32:16] Speaker 2: That's all.
[1:32:17] Speaker 4: I want a new Simpsons beat-em-up in the style of
[1:32:21] Speaker 4: that classic Konami one.
[1:32:23] Speaker 2: I want a Bob's Burgers beat-em-up. That would be fun.
[1:32:27] Speaker 2: There should be a whole animation domination beat-em-up that has
[1:32:30] Speaker 2: all those Fox animated shows in one universe. PJs? Yes.
[1:32:37] Speaker 2: I want Enhance, the Tetris Effect people to make an
[1:32:42] Speaker 2: enhanced version of DDR. I want the screen to blast
[1:32:48] Speaker 2: me with way too much stuff when I'm trying to dance.
[1:32:50] Speaker 2: I think that'd be cool to see. Oh, that'd be good.
[1:32:52] Speaker 2: That'd be good. I want Housemarque to make a pinball game.
[1:32:55] Speaker 3: Oh, wow. Oh, shit.
[1:32:57] Speaker 2: That's nuts. That would rule.
[1:32:59] Speaker 3: I want IOI to make an Austin Powers game.
[1:33:03] Speaker 2: Yeah. Yes.
[1:33:04] Speaker 4: Yes.
[1:33:05] Speaker 2: God, that'd be so good.
[1:33:06] Speaker 3: After seeing them knock it out of the park with
[1:33:08] Speaker 3: 007 First Light this year, I'm like... Y'all could do anything.
[1:33:11] Speaker 4: It should be the same exact mechanics as that. It's just,
[1:33:14] Speaker 4: it's funnier and it's just all comedic bent to it.
[1:33:16] Speaker 2: But yes. Oh my God.
[1:33:17] Speaker 1: Team Asobi making a 3D Sonic the Hedgehog.
[1:33:21] Speaker 2: God, can you imagine? That'd be a good video game.
[1:33:25] Speaker 2: But like, what about a good character in a video game?
[1:33:27] Speaker 2: Like Astro Bot. They would make you do Astro Bot. Yeah. Sure. Yeah.
[1:33:31] Speaker 5: Like Astro Bot's good because you can like see him.
[1:33:34] Speaker 2: Yeah. And he's not like. Yeah, maybe just. Yeah.
[1:33:38] Speaker 3: The Pacopia team, sorry, I forget who developed it, making
[1:33:43] Speaker 3: an Astro Bot farming game.
[1:33:44] Speaker 1: Isn't that Omega Force? Isn't that the Dynasty Warriors people?
[1:33:47] Speaker 2: Oh, sure. I want to.
[1:33:51] Speaker 2: I want Aiden, or no, I'm sorry, the team that
[1:33:54] Speaker 2: did Street Fighter EX, Eureka, I want them to do
[1:33:58] Speaker 2: a Smash Brothers with all of the Nintendo characters that
[1:34:01] Speaker 2: aren't good enough to be in Smash Brothers. So like
[1:34:03] Speaker 2: Rusty's real deal baseball dog and stuff like that. Mike
[1:34:07] Speaker 2: from Star Tropics. Yes, exactly. Yeah, a little Smash Brothers.
[1:34:11] Speaker 2: And the team, and Skullamania's there, of course.
[1:34:13] Speaker 4: Skullamania's just part of the crew, of course, of course.
[1:34:16] Speaker 2: We all love Scullamania. Scullamania. You guys know Scullamania's backstory,
[1:34:20] Speaker 2: like the OC character from Street Fighter X? He is
[1:34:23] Speaker 2: a Japanese salaryman who went insane and decided to become
[1:34:26] Speaker 2: a superhero, and he doesn't have any powers, but he
[1:34:28] Speaker 2: just fights people. I like that. That's great. Yes, that's great.
[1:34:31] Speaker 2: And he just dresses up as a skeleton and fights Ryu.
[1:34:34] Speaker 4: Somebody in chat just said the Ace Attorney team should
[1:34:36] Speaker 4: make a Frasier game, and that's incredible.
[1:34:39] Speaker 2: That would be fantastic.
[1:34:41] Speaker 5: I think Telltale should make a episodic curb game.
[1:34:44] Speaker 2: Oh, my God. That's a good idea. Their first good game. Yeah.
[1:34:49] Speaker 5: Just like, you know, Susie will remember this.
[1:34:53] Speaker 2: That'd be incredible. That'd be really good. Chuck, make that. Yeah, Chuck,
[1:34:59] Speaker 2: do that.
[1:35:00] Speaker 1: That tells people making a Castlevania would be pretty good, probably.
[1:35:02] Speaker 2: That'd be neat. I would like to see that. Sure, sure, sure.
[1:35:05] Speaker 2: Didn't that basically happen? Right, yeah.
[1:35:08] Speaker 1: If anyone wants to post a McBain gif, go ahead, yeah.
[1:35:16] Speaker 2: Oh! My bad.
[1:35:17] Speaker 3: God, I'm trying to think of like... No, it was great, Mike.
[1:35:19] Speaker 3: What studio is really good at making like a third-person
[1:35:23] Speaker 3: fighting game or like a punchy game? Get the Hulk
[1:35:28] Speaker 3: Ultimate Destruction team to make a wrestling game.
[1:35:31] Speaker 2: Get those kids back together.
[1:35:33] Speaker 1: Wasn't that what they were trying to do with the fucking,
[1:35:36] Speaker 1: what was that?
[1:35:37] Speaker 2: Rumbleverse.
[1:35:38] Speaker 1: Rumbleverse was kind of like that.
[1:35:39] Speaker 2: And it was awesome.
[1:35:40] Speaker 3: God, Rumbleverse. I wish it was more of a thing.
[1:35:43] Speaker 3: Raimi writes in, oh man, do you guys remember how
[1:35:46] Speaker 3: crazy the launch for the PS2 was? My friend and
[1:35:49] Speaker 3: I waited all night in the freezing Alaskan cold to
[1:35:52] Speaker 3: get ours. Remember that year?
[1:35:53] Speaker 2: You do? Great.
[1:35:56] Speaker 3: Then I need to talk to you about your cholesterol.
[1:35:58] Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Get back in here.
[1:36:01] Speaker 3: If you're in the U.S., you've probably never had a
[1:36:03] Speaker 3: blood test for lipoprotein A.
[1:36:07] Speaker 2: Get one.
[1:36:08] Speaker 3: Ask your doctor. You only need it once. Because this
[1:36:11] Speaker 3: one is a number you really can't change. It's genetic.
[1:36:15] Speaker 3: If it's high and it is for one in five
[1:36:19] Speaker 3: of us, then that's good to know, since it puts
[1:36:21] Speaker 3: you at a higher risk for artery shenanigans. And you
[1:36:23] Speaker 3: can use that intel to be healthier, change the numbers
[1:36:26] Speaker 3: you can't change, and avoid a stupid stroke or heart attack.
[1:36:29] Speaker 3: Know the shape of your enemy, you know?
[1:36:30] Speaker 2: All right.
[1:36:31] Speaker 3: You guys are great. Thanks for being out there. And
[1:36:33] Speaker 3: why is Wolverine so sad? I don't think Wolverine has
[1:36:37] Speaker 3: embraced that he is a short king.
[1:36:39] Speaker 2: P.S.
[1:36:40] Speaker 3: My launch PS2 was faulty, but there was such a
[1:36:42] Speaker 3: shortage that the Circuit City in Anchorage, Alaska, wouldn't get
[1:36:46] Speaker 3: a replacement for months. Luckily, my roommates worked fine, and
[1:36:50] Speaker 3: we played the shit out of Tekken Tag Tournament.
[1:36:52] Speaker 2: For next year.
[1:36:53] Speaker 1: Rain yeah oh yeah slept on the sidewalk outside of
[1:36:56] Speaker 1: the best buy in overland park kansas in the rain
[1:36:59] Speaker 1: uh huge line out there some people brought tents and
[1:37:01] Speaker 1: everything super fun people were just like hanging out and
[1:37:03] Speaker 1: tossing footballs around oh yeah and stuff and yeah so
[1:37:07] Speaker 1: excited in that blue box i remember just being so
[1:37:09] Speaker 1: excited i got that and ssx tech and tag tournament
[1:37:12] Speaker 1: and time splitters were the three i got and just
[1:37:14] Speaker 1: had a fucking blast with.
[1:37:15] Speaker 4: It i i was i was kind of uh I
[1:37:19] Speaker 4: now recognize that PS2 is one of the greatest consoles
[1:37:21] Speaker 4: of all time, of course, but around launch, I was
[1:37:23] Speaker 4: sort of.
[1:37:23] Speaker 2: Today? Against it. Mad Hill? Today? Today, you realize? No, no, no.
[1:37:28] Speaker 2: At some point between it launching.
[1:37:30] Speaker 4: Me, I was such a Dreamcast fan, I was very
[1:37:32] Speaker 4: protective because I kind of knew Sega was on the ropes.
[1:37:35] Speaker 4: The PS2 launch was going to be much bigger than
[1:37:37] Speaker 4: I was just already kind of... I played Tekken Tag
[1:37:39] Speaker 4: Tournament 2 at a thing, and my takeaway was, boy,
[1:37:42] Speaker 4: this looks much worse... than Soul Calibur. It does, because, like,
[1:37:45] Speaker 4: that game was basically just using Tekken 3 character models
[1:37:48] Speaker 4: and things like that. And there was the Jaggies, which
[1:37:50] Speaker 4: was a talking point, but they were real!
[1:37:52] Speaker 2: The Jaggies!
[1:37:53] Speaker 1: The Jaggies were such a controversy, and, like, I think about, like,
[1:37:56] Speaker 1: this is well before social media and everything, and, like,
[1:37:58] Speaker 1: that would be the biggest fucking thing. It was so
[1:38:01] Speaker 1: big before social media, people were yelling about that.
[1:38:04] Speaker 2: Sorry, it was the Puddle News of the Day.
[1:38:06] Speaker 1: And, like, before Reddit, I remember being a thing, like,
[1:38:09] Speaker 1: where the fuck were people yelling at each other about this?
[1:38:11] Speaker 2: Like, Right. On forums. Yeah. Absolutely. Comment sections.
[1:38:15] Speaker 4: The launch lineup was not great by any means, really,
[1:38:18] Speaker 4: especially compared to a Dreamcast, even what the GameCube and
[1:38:21] Speaker 4: Xbox would have.
[1:38:22] Speaker 2: To be fair, Mike, Sony did do everything they could
[1:38:26] Speaker 2: to put Sega out of business. They designed that console
[1:38:29] Speaker 2: to fuck Sega.
[1:38:30] Speaker 4: And I was bitter about that for a while because
[1:38:31] Speaker 4: I loved my Dreamcast a lot. So it took me
[1:38:35] Speaker 4: a bit to get over the killing Dreamcast aspect of
[1:38:38] Speaker 4: the PS2.
[1:38:39] Speaker 2: Aw, buddy. Did I ever tell you guys my PS2 story?
[1:38:43] Speaker 4: No.
[1:38:43] Speaker 2: No, tell us. No, no, no. I pre-ordered one. I
[1:38:46] Speaker 2: was 18 years old. Pre-ordered one freshman year in college.
[1:38:51] Speaker 2: And I was.
[1:38:53] Speaker 5: Such a naive, stupid, stupid little boy. I brought it
[1:38:57] Speaker 5: to college with me.
[1:38:59] Speaker 2: Oh. And I'm like, oh, in a dorm.
[1:39:01] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[1:39:02] Speaker 2: And just was like, oh, I'm just going to leave
[1:39:04] Speaker 2: it in my room and... I think we have very
[1:39:06] Speaker 2: similar PS2 stories. It walked away in like four days. Oh, man.
[1:39:12] Speaker 2: I bought a PS2 for Shadow of the Colossus. Same thing. Yeah. Right.
[1:39:16] Speaker 5: And I like, I don't know, you know, obviously all
[1:39:18] Speaker 5: these years later, you're just like, what a fucking moron.
[1:39:21] Speaker 5: Why would you bring that? Like, it wasn't like an apartment.
[1:39:23] Speaker 2: It was a dorm.
[1:39:24] Speaker 5: Everyone gets into the, you know, uh, just didn't know, learned,
[1:39:27] Speaker 5: learned a hard lesson that week. And, uh, it took me,
[1:39:32] Speaker 5: so this is nuts. And then I, uh, we were back,
[1:39:34] Speaker 5: I guess, for like Thanksgiving break or whatever it was.
[1:39:38] Speaker 5: And I was freaking out because it came out in
[1:39:40] Speaker 5: October and I'd gone about a month without it.
[1:39:42] Speaker 2: And I'm upset.
[1:39:44] Speaker 5: And I was on some forum. Oh, that was like, uh,
[1:39:47] Speaker 5: people were updating, uh, this thread with new, uh, New
[1:39:51] Speaker 5: Jersey toys or Russ's. And I found one, I raced
[1:39:55] Speaker 5: over to one and I like begged the guy and
[1:39:57] Speaker 5: he kept saying, we don't have it.
[1:39:58] Speaker 2: We don't have it. And I'm like, are you sure?
[1:40:00] Speaker 5: I just, I just, I just read some forum thread
[1:40:03] Speaker 5: that said you guys have them. And then, and And
[1:40:06] Speaker 5: he's like, who are you little kid? And then sure enough,
[1:40:09] Speaker 5: a dude behind him took a big Brown box and
[1:40:12] Speaker 5: unboxed three blue boxes out of it.
[1:40:14] Speaker 1: Here you go.
[1:40:16] Speaker 2: And I was like, wow.
[1:40:18] Speaker 5: And that was, and luckily all my games were, uh,
[1:40:21] Speaker 5: were saved. They just took the console.
[1:40:23] Speaker 2: So I had, I think I had NHL SSX for sure.
[1:40:26] Speaker 2: Oh man. In time splitters.
[1:40:28] Speaker 5: And yeah, man, but it was, uh, not, not even young.
[1:40:32] Speaker 2: That's the story. I.
[1:40:34] Speaker 1: Uh, that same era, I remember I was in college
[1:40:36] Speaker 1: and I went home for winter break and I brought
[1:40:38] Speaker 1: my GameCube because I was working on like Metroid Prime
[1:40:40] Speaker 1: and a bunch of like Animal Crossing, a bunch of
[1:40:42] Speaker 1: like GameCube games I was like deep into. And I
[1:40:45] Speaker 1: went back home, back to college and I realized, fuck,
[1:40:49] Speaker 1: I left my memory card there. And so I just,
[1:40:52] Speaker 1: I don't know if I had text at the time,
[1:40:54] Speaker 1: but I got ahold of Kayla and I was like, Kayla,
[1:40:56] Speaker 1: you're the only one in that house that knows what
[1:40:57] Speaker 1: a GameCube memory card looks like. Can you mail it
[1:40:59] Speaker 1: to me at college? And then, I, you know, a
[1:41:03] Speaker 1: week later, whatever, I get a letter in the mail,
[1:41:06] Speaker 1: standard ass envelope, just licked and sealed, stamp put on it,
[1:41:10] Speaker 1: memory card sized hole in the corner of it, and
[1:41:13] Speaker 1: no memory cards.
[1:41:14] Speaker 2: Oh, man.
[1:41:15] Speaker 1: Yep, you're fucked on those saves forever. No more animal
[1:41:19] Speaker 1: chunks in town.
[1:41:20] Speaker 2: That's pretty good.
[1:41:22] Speaker 1: Like, not even a piece of paper around it or
[1:41:24] Speaker 1: bubble wrap.
[1:41:25] Speaker 2: Just in an envelope. Good to go. Wow.
[1:41:30] Speaker 1: Kayla, I'm so salty about that.
[1:41:33] Speaker 2: I guess on you, Dan, for not properly explaining what
[1:41:35] Speaker 2: she should have done there. This is all your fault. Well,
[1:41:36] Speaker 2: I made assumptions. Yep. Sure, sure.
[1:41:41] Speaker 3: Well, that was a very traumatizing memory, Dan and Mr.
[1:41:44] Speaker 2: Bacalar.
[1:41:45] Speaker 3: Speaking about trauma, Valerie from Denver writes in, and the
[1:41:49] Speaker 3: subject line reads, Traumatize me, Daddy. Hiya, Bombers. Obsession, Midsommar,
[1:41:55] Speaker 3: and Hereditary. have all legitimately traumatized me. I've had panic
[1:41:58] Speaker 3: attacks in each of them that I had to do
[1:42:00] Speaker 3: breathing exercises to get through and had nightmares about each
[1:42:02] Speaker 3: of them. I love it when this happens because it
[1:42:04] Speaker 3: makes me finally feel something again. I even have a
[1:42:07] Speaker 3: Midsommar tattoo. I attached a picture here for Jan. If
[1:42:10] Speaker 3: you're curious, what other media can you recommend that will
[1:42:12] Speaker 3: mentally scar me and or give me PTSD? Thanks, hugs, kisses,
[1:42:15] Speaker 3: Valerie from Denver. Jeez.
[1:42:17] Speaker 2: You i don't know if this is healthy i if
[1:42:21] Speaker 2: you're playing around in a safe space and you kind
[1:42:24] Speaker 2: of know what to expect i don't know it sounds
[1:42:26] Speaker 2: like they have a good grasp on it i.
[1:42:28] Speaker 1: Mean documentary about a dark subject that too they want.
[1:42:32] Speaker 2: Fiction it's really gonna depend on what the next words
[1:42:35] Speaker 2: are i mean i.
[1:42:35] Speaker 1: Mean it's a genuinely horrifying uh so i'm not gonna
[1:42:38] Speaker 1: recommend it it's uh yeah.
[1:42:40] Speaker 2: I don't know, I just feel like a panic attack's
[1:42:42] Speaker 2: a bad thing.
[1:42:44] Speaker 5: And you don't want to do that on purpose.
[1:42:46] Speaker 4: They must be having different panic attacks Than the panic
[1:42:48] Speaker 4: attacks I'm thinking of, I don't know In the movie
[1:42:51] Speaker 4: Drag Me to Hell or whatever You won't believe what
[1:42:54] Speaker 4: happens to the main character At the end of that one,
[1:42:56] Speaker 4: so that might upset you.
[1:43:00] Speaker 7: If you're looking for a video game Oh, Audition The
[1:43:02] Speaker 7: movie Audition Yeah, you know I think Yeah, go ahead
[1:43:08] Speaker 7: If you're looking for a video game and maybe less
[1:43:12] Speaker 7: of the horror realm, well, okay, one horror, one not.
[1:43:15] Speaker 2: Two recommendations.
[1:43:16] Speaker 3: Go play Mouthwashing. I think that may get to similar
[1:43:21] Speaker 3: levels that you are talking about. Email her. And then
[1:43:24] Speaker 3: the other one, go on an emotional roller coaster. I've
[1:43:27] Speaker 3: talked about this at length in the past.
[1:43:29] Speaker 2: And Roger.
[1:43:30] Speaker 3: That'll traumatize you in perhaps a different way.
[1:43:32] Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
[1:43:32] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[1:43:35] Speaker 2: I think if you watch, I don't know. I do
[1:43:38] Speaker 2: think it.
[1:43:41] Speaker 5: Has been aging in a really distressing way is Children
[1:43:45] Speaker 5: of Men.
[1:43:45] Speaker 2: I like that movie, sure.
[1:43:47] Speaker 5: Children of Men, if you take it at face value,
[1:43:50] Speaker 5: is becoming increasingly horrifying. And again, if this is your kink,
[1:43:56] Speaker 5: this is what you want.
[1:43:58] Speaker 2: There you go.
[1:43:59] Speaker 3: Bojack Horseman while we're at it.
[1:44:01] Speaker 2: Yeah, right? That's funny.
[1:44:04] Speaker 4: Requiem for a Dream's a classic kind of just.
[1:44:07] Speaker 2: Ah, it's a fun one. I mean, that's a fun one.
[1:44:09] Speaker 2: I think at the end it's pretty upsetting. I don't know.
[1:44:12] Speaker 1: That's Aronofsky's whole thing is that vibe.
[1:44:15] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[1:44:16] Speaker 3: All right, Valerie, I hope you are doing whatever you're
[1:44:19] Speaker 3: doing responsibly, please. Travis in Fargo writes in with five questions.
[1:44:23] Speaker 3: I choose one of them. Travis writes in, how was
[1:44:24] Speaker 3: your summer? Did you get everything done you wanted to?
[1:44:28] Speaker 2: God, summer went by so fast. I can't believe it's
[1:44:32] Speaker 2: fall already. That laundry room's still not fully done. I
[1:44:35] Speaker 2: got to attach the plumbing and the sink and stuff
[1:44:38] Speaker 2: like that. It's closed, though. All the stuff's in there now.
[1:44:40] Speaker 4: I still have a half-completed display case in my living room,
[1:44:43] Speaker 4: which I might get done with my brother's help tonight.
[1:44:45] Speaker 2: I don't know. I actually really enjoyed this summer.
[1:44:48] Speaker 5: This is the first time in 44 years that I've said,
[1:44:52] Speaker 5: you know what?
[1:44:52] Speaker 2: That was a good summer. Not a bad summer. I'm glad.
[1:44:56] Speaker 5: Thank you it wasn't too too hot uh we had
[1:45:00] Speaker 5: a kid go away for three weeks that was awesome
[1:45:03] Speaker 5: because we got to go away three weekends in a
[1:45:06] Speaker 5: row that.
[1:45:07] Speaker 2: Was sweet uh.
[1:45:09] Speaker 5: So it was you know yeah like it went by
[1:45:11] Speaker 5: fast that's what you wanted to do yeah good job summer.
[1:45:16] Speaker 2: Mine was really good.
[1:45:17] Speaker 1: Did a lot of fun things. It's kind of bittersweet.
[1:45:19] Speaker 1: Cause like a lot of the fun was like getting
[1:45:20] Speaker 1: really in on the, the marathon training and like pushing
[1:45:22] Speaker 1: myself farther than I ever have. And then now I'm
[1:45:24] Speaker 1: dealing with the kind of aftermath of that and the
[1:45:27] Speaker 1: injury stuff and everything. So, uh, Yeah, a little bittersweet
[1:45:30] Speaker 1: on that. Probably my last summer of running, so yeah.
[1:45:33] Speaker 2: Do you feel like any grief of like, oh man,
[1:45:36] Speaker 2: my running life is over and stuff like that? No. No,
[1:45:40] Speaker 2: that's okay.
[1:45:40] Speaker 1: With several doctors now telling me like, don't run, because
[1:45:42] Speaker 1: I was still going to run the marathon, which is
[1:45:44] Speaker 1: in like a week basically, and like every doctor was
[1:45:46] Speaker 1: just like, don't do this, you're going to fuck yourself.
[1:45:48] Speaker 1: For those that don't know, it's just like, it's not a,
[1:45:51] Speaker 1: I'm just dealing with some like pinched nerve shit and everything.
[1:45:53] Speaker 1: It sounds like I didn't have enough core strength really.
[1:45:55] Speaker 1: And so my back and my shoulders and everything really
[1:45:57] Speaker 1: had to compensate and nerves are all fucked up. And
[1:45:59] Speaker 1: so it's a very messy, I'm getting MRIs this week
[1:46:02] Speaker 1: and all that. Anyway, I'll be fine. But no, when
[1:46:05] Speaker 1: they told me like, don't do it.
[1:46:06] Speaker 2: It's like, all right. Yeah.
[1:46:07] Speaker 1: I was already feeling enough pain and everything that it
[1:46:08] Speaker 1: was like, I'm not going to just out of pure stubbornness.
[1:46:12] Speaker 2: Put myself through this, you know, like the fact that, yeah,
[1:46:14] Speaker 2: you know, the fact you've made the decision not to
[1:46:15] Speaker 2: do it anymore. Is that like, well, man, now part
[1:46:18] Speaker 2: of my life is missing.
[1:46:19] Speaker 1: Cause I, part of what I loved so much about
[1:46:21] Speaker 1: it was, was that when you have a goal, it
[1:46:23] Speaker 1: is like, it keeps you on track and you have
[1:46:25] Speaker 1: to do that and you have to stay in shape
[1:46:26] Speaker 1: and do all that. And so like, yeah, I think
[1:46:28] Speaker 1: it was like the day I decided I'm going to
[1:46:30] Speaker 1: not do this next year. I texted Hanson about like,
[1:46:33] Speaker 1: you know, Minneapolis is an incredible biking city. And so
[1:46:36] Speaker 1: I was like, it's like, Hey, do you like, do
[1:46:38] Speaker 1: you want to plan on doing like a hundred mile
[1:46:39] Speaker 1: bike ride in the fall or something like that? And
[1:46:41] Speaker 1: maybe next week I got a nice bike and there's
[1:46:43] Speaker 1: trails all around me. Like maybe next week.
[1:46:45] Speaker 2: Portland and be naked.
[1:46:48] Speaker 1: No, it's okay. I don't need my dong hanging out
[1:46:50] Speaker 1: or anything.
[1:46:51] Speaker 2: We did see naked people on a bike. I thought
[1:46:53] Speaker 2: we were going to, and then we did. We did, yeah.
[1:46:54] Speaker 2: You did, yeah? They just don't have public indecency laws
[1:46:57] Speaker 2: or something. I forget why it was okay. I don't care.
[1:47:01] Speaker 2: That's right. You're such a narc, man. The whole idea
[1:47:03] Speaker 2: is that men are allowed to take their shirt off
[1:47:05] Speaker 2: in public, so women were like, you can too, and
[1:47:07] Speaker 2: then that was that. And then Portland's like, well, what
[1:47:10] Speaker 2: about pants? Who's against this? Mike is. I'm not against it. Oh, yeah, yeah.
[1:47:15] Speaker 2: People being naked? You just complained about decency laws. What
[1:47:18] Speaker 2: do you mean?
[1:47:18] Speaker 4: It's just like living in one system for a long
[1:47:20] Speaker 4: time and just being like, oh, there's a penis.
[1:47:23] Speaker 2: Oh, man.
[1:47:23] Speaker 3: This past weekend, Mikey, in San Francisco was the Folsom
[1:47:26] Speaker 3: Street Fair. You would not have done well.
[1:47:29] Speaker 2: Folsom. Folsom.
[1:47:30] Speaker 1: Folsom Street Fair. I think I saw a Channel 5
[1:47:32] Speaker 1: video about that.
[1:47:35] Speaker 4: I'm getting concerned being portrayed as a Puritan here.
[1:47:38] Speaker 2: I think it's great that they all get naked in Portland.
[1:47:40] Speaker 2: That's fantastic.
[1:47:42] Speaker 4: I won't even play the, will somebody think of the
[1:47:44] Speaker 4: children card? I'm not going to do it.
[1:47:45] Speaker 2: I don't care. They'll be fine. I didn't see a
[1:47:47] Speaker 2: single child that entire weekend, actually. I don't think they
[1:47:50] Speaker 2: have kids in Portland. No, I don't think so.
[1:47:53] Speaker 3: My summer was, other than being in the hospital and
[1:47:57] Speaker 3: then still recovering from that, I think it was okay.
[1:48:02] Speaker 3: One of my best friends got married, had some very
[1:48:06] Speaker 3: good company this whole time, yourselves included. It was okay.
[1:48:12] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:48:13] Speaker 3: I'd say a three and a half out of five
[1:48:15] Speaker 3: for me personally.
[1:48:15] Speaker 2: Okay. Lake Michigan still exists and I enjoyed it quite
[1:48:18] Speaker 2: a bit. And that's kind of all I need for
[1:48:19] Speaker 2: my summer.
[1:48:20] Speaker 4: I had the, probably the New Orleans trip I did
[1:48:22] Speaker 4: was the best thing I did this summer. Of course,
[1:48:25] Speaker 4: our road trip out West was a ton of fun.
[1:48:26] Speaker 4: The Miss convention as well. it just felt like it
[1:48:30] Speaker 4: all went by really fast this year.
[1:48:32] Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
[1:48:36] Speaker 4: I didn't go outdoors enough. Like I should have been
[1:48:37] Speaker 4: like going out and walking more and things like that.
[1:48:39] Speaker 2: But yeah.
[1:48:40] Speaker 1: Walking is like that's the thing i'm doing now that
[1:48:42] Speaker 1: i'm not running it's like fucking walking it's great for
[1:48:44] Speaker 1: you walking it doesn't.
[1:48:45] Speaker 8: Beat up your joints right after this walking yeah unfortunately
[1:48:50] Speaker 8: yeah from what i can gather dan i hate to
[1:48:52] Speaker 8: be the bearer of bad news when i can gather
[1:48:54] Speaker 8: running is probably the worst thing you can do for
[1:48:56] Speaker 8: your body.
[1:48:56] Speaker 1: Yeah and again is that like people do this because
[1:48:59] Speaker 1: it's like an extreme challenge and stuff but it's like
[1:49:01] Speaker 1: it's fucking bad for you like and it's like i've
[1:49:05] Speaker 1: heard from people that do this you know i've done
[1:49:07] Speaker 1: several marathons that like They're very good at letting your
[1:49:10] Speaker 1: body know or letting you know what's fucked up with
[1:49:12] Speaker 1: your body. And so it's like, now I know I
[1:49:14] Speaker 1: really need to work on core strength. Now I know
[1:49:16] Speaker 1: I need this or like I needed to loosen up
[1:49:17] Speaker 1: my shoulders, neck and shit like that. Yeah. I, uh, Hey,
[1:49:21] Speaker 1: props to anyone who does it and does it well
[1:49:23] Speaker 1: and doesn't get hurt and stuff. But like, man, I
[1:49:25] Speaker 1: got to 16 miles was my longest run at the
[1:49:28] Speaker 1: back spasm a few days after that. And that's when
[1:49:30] Speaker 1: my body was just like, Hey, 16 is about where
[1:49:33] Speaker 1: we top off here.
[1:49:33] Speaker 2: You know, we got to chill out with all our limits.
[1:49:36] Speaker 3: Yep.
[1:49:37] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:49:37] Speaker 3: We should, we should, uh, yes, we should do a podcast.
[1:49:40] Speaker 3: It doesn't have to be the bomb cast or the
[1:49:42] Speaker 3: dump truck, just a one-off pod, just an actual big walk.
[1:49:46] Speaker 3: We all just call into a discord and we're just
[1:49:48] Speaker 3: going for a walk.
[1:49:49] Speaker 2: I'm, Oh, I like that. That sounds great.
[1:49:50] Speaker 3: And we just talk about, like, what do you see
[1:49:52] Speaker 3: on your walk? What's happening?
[1:49:53] Speaker 2: What's going on? We have a bird challenge. Yeah. Ooh, yeah, yeah.
[1:49:57] Speaker 1: We have coyotes running around right now. We're going to
[1:49:59] Speaker 1: attack a coyote on a stream.
[1:50:00] Speaker 2: There we go. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, right. Can I interrupt
[1:50:04] Speaker 2: with my own live email? No.
[1:50:06] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[1:50:06] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[1:50:07] Speaker 2: Yes. I think you're outvoted, Jan. It's a joke.
[1:50:11] Speaker 3: No.
[1:50:12] Speaker 2: On Metacritic, they have the top 10 highest rated games
[1:50:15] Speaker 2: of the year so far. Do you guys want to
[1:50:17] Speaker 2: try to guess them? You're going to need some clues.
[1:50:20] Speaker 2: The top 10 highest rated released games in 2026. So
[1:50:24] Speaker 2: this will include some games that got new versions on
[1:50:26] Speaker 2: new consoles this year.
[1:50:28] Speaker 4: I do know that one of them is some kind
[1:50:29] Speaker 4: of weird I Spy kind of game, basically.
[1:50:32] Speaker 2: Like a Where's Waldo-like. I cannot remember the name of it.
[1:50:36] Speaker 2: So there was.
[1:50:39] Speaker 2: Dan, you might have played this. And Roger's number 10
[1:50:42] Speaker 2: is the one I think you.
[1:50:42] Speaker 1: Guys might not get to play. That's what Jan mentioned earlier.
[1:50:45] Speaker 1: That's number 10.
[1:50:46] Speaker 2: I don't see any other game that could be in
[1:50:49] Speaker 2: my spot.
[1:50:50] Speaker 3: Trails 2nd, or whatever it's called.
[1:50:52] Speaker 2: Trails of the Sky 2nd. Yes, that's number 3.
[1:50:55] Speaker 1: Requiem.
[1:50:57] Speaker 2: That is not in the top 10. So the lowest
[1:51:00] Speaker 2: score on here, and this is Metacritic, is a 90.
[1:51:03] Speaker 2: That's And Roger. Nina the Holloware is on there. It's
[1:51:06] Speaker 2: number 9, also a 90. Boy, just that.
[1:51:10] Speaker 1: Ace Combat's doing well, I heard.
[1:51:12] Speaker 2: Ace Combat's not on here yet, but that might just
[1:51:15] Speaker 2: be a matter of... No, I don't think it's in
[1:51:17] Speaker 2: the 90s. I don't think it's in the 90s. Big Walk?
[1:51:18] Speaker 2: Dang it. BigWalk is number four at a 91. Cool. Wow.
[1:51:23] Speaker 2: Hell yeah. Okay, so let's see. I think there's one
[1:51:26] Speaker 2: other brand new release, and then the others are new
[1:51:31] Speaker 2: updated versions or ports for other consoles this year, and
[1:51:34] Speaker 2: I'll begin giving you guys good hints on those soon.
[1:51:35] Speaker 2: Is Mixtape still there? I know it's really high up.
[1:51:38] Speaker 2: Mixtape is not in the top 10. Oh, wait. Pacopia?
[1:51:42] Speaker 2: Pacopia is not in the top 10. Fire Emblem. No.
[1:51:45] Speaker 2: Fire Emblem, no. No.
[1:51:48] Speaker 3: First Light?
[1:51:49] Speaker 2: Oh, no. It is a game you guys should get,
[1:51:51] Speaker 2: but it's a game that we talked about a lot
[1:51:53] Speaker 2: and have stopped talking about. Not, I think, because the
[1:51:55] Speaker 2: game is in any way forgettable. Just, we stopped talking
[1:51:58] Speaker 2: about it. Right, right, right. It is an Xbox game. Oh, Forza.
[1:52:03] Speaker 2: It's Forza Horizon. I keep forgetting about Forza Horizon being
[1:52:06] Speaker 2: one of the best games of the year. Yeah, that's
[1:52:07] Speaker 2: really good. It is really good. Forza Horizon 6 is
[1:52:10] Speaker 2: also a 90. It is at number 6. Okay, so then,
[1:52:13] Speaker 2: let's see. Number 1 just got its update. It has
[1:52:16] Speaker 2: a new expansion that's coming out next year. Oh, so
[1:52:18] Speaker 2: Witcher 3? Witcher. Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Remastered is a
[1:52:22] Speaker 2: 94 on Metacritic, the highest rated game of the year.
[1:52:25] Speaker 2: Number two is one of my favorite games of last year.
[1:52:28] Speaker 2: Got a Switch release this year. Sektori? Sektori is a
[1:52:35] Speaker 2: 90 fucking four on it. Yes. Wow. That's awesome. Well deserved. Yes.
[1:52:41] Speaker 2: Well deserved. And then, yes, so I said Trails in
[1:52:43] Speaker 2: the Sky was number three. Big Walk is number four.
[1:52:45] Speaker 2: Number five is an expansion for a first person shooter
[1:52:48] Speaker 2: that kind of like everyone's like, oh, now this game
[1:52:50] Speaker 2: is great. Doom? Eternals? Doom, the Dark Ages, Revelations. Oh, wow. Okay. Yeah.
[1:52:55] Speaker 2: Number six is Forza Horizon 6. Number seven is a 1.0
[1:52:58] Speaker 2: release that just happened. Seven. Control? Oh, Control. It's a mystery. Close. Nope. Oh, Valheim. Valheim. Yes,
[1:53:08] Speaker 2: Valheim is number seven. Number eight is one of the
[1:53:11] Speaker 2: best games of all time. Got a Switch 2 version.
[1:53:14] Speaker 1: Metroid Prime 4?
[1:53:15] Speaker 2: Nope. Dread? Is it Elden Ring? Oh, they're fuckers. It
[1:53:19] Speaker 2: is Elden Ring Tarnished Edition. Oh, that's right. Sure, sure.
[1:53:22] Speaker 2: And then number nine is Meet at the Hollower and
[1:53:24] Speaker 2: number 10 is And Roger. Do you guys want to
[1:53:26] Speaker 2: just throw out a couple games to see where they
[1:53:28] Speaker 2: landed on the list so far? Pocopia, you can mention that.
[1:53:30] Speaker 2: It was number 14. Where's Pragmata? Fire... Fire Emblem Fortunes
[1:53:33] Speaker 2: Weave is 15. Resident Evil Requiem is 16. That's high, man.
[1:53:37] Speaker 2: Desktop Explorer is number 17. I talked about that. Fields
[1:53:40] Speaker 2: of Mysteria, number 18. Densha Attack is 20. I'm looking
[1:53:44] Speaker 2: for Pragmata. Eugenics is 21. Lower on there. Ace Combat
[1:53:46] Speaker 2: is 22. 007 First Light is 23. Soros is 24.
[1:53:48] Speaker 2: I'm going to go to this next page and then
[1:53:49] Speaker 2: look for Pragmata. Oh, Nioh 3 is 31. That's above there.
[1:54:01] Speaker 2: Mixtape is 32. Where did you say First Light was?
[1:54:05] Speaker 2: Did I say like 2022 or something? Something like that.
[1:54:09] Speaker 2: It's 23. All right. I'm going to control F for Pragmata. Wow.
[1:54:13] Speaker 2: Pragmata is 44 behind Onimusha at 42. Oh, okay.
[1:54:17] Speaker 1: That's so good.
[1:54:20] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:54:20] Speaker 4: Now I'm like, what was this game that I kept?
[1:54:21] Speaker 4: Because I would look at this every once in a while.
[1:54:23] Speaker 4: I'm like, it kept telling me like one of the
[1:54:24] Speaker 4: best reviewed games of the year was some.
[1:54:27] Speaker 2: Is that maybe on OpenCritic? Oh, maybe it was just OpenCritic.
[1:54:32] Speaker 4: Right, and like, we don't consider this an important game
[1:54:35] Speaker 4: for some reason, which is weird. Because yeah, on OpenCritic,
[1:54:40] Speaker 4: there's a game with a 90 rating on 39 reviews
[1:54:44] Speaker 4: called Schrodinger's Call. I don't really know what that is.
[1:54:49] Speaker 2: It's not real.
[1:54:50] Speaker 4: Oh, that's Lost and Found Co. is the one I
[1:54:51] Speaker 4: was thinking of.
[1:54:52] Speaker 2: It's got a 90. Yeah, right, yes. That was like
[1:54:55] Speaker 2: number one for a long time.
[1:54:56] Speaker 4: Right, and it's just some kind of Where's Waldo style
[1:54:59] Speaker 4: game as far as I can tell that people who
[1:55:01] Speaker 4: play it seem to really like.
[1:55:02] Speaker 2: Okey dokey.
[1:55:05] Speaker 3: Thank you for that surprise email, Mr.
[1:55:06] Speaker 2: Grubb. Thanks, guys.
[1:55:09] Speaker 3: A lot of kind words from the travelogue from Catch
[1:55:12] Speaker 3: Me If You Dan 2. Thank you, everyone, for sending
[1:55:14] Speaker 3: those along. Last email from the show before we get
[1:55:17] Speaker 3: to Super Chats. Tom from Vallejo writes in, Hey Bomb Crew,
[1:55:20] Speaker 3: at Anime Expo 2026, I met Oni Giri, a VTuber
[1:55:25] Speaker 3: who does cooking streams. So naturally, I brought up Dan
[1:55:28] Speaker 3: and his food slash cooking exploits. She finds them hilarious
[1:55:31] Speaker 3: from what I told her and wants to know more.
[1:55:33] Speaker 3: So I'm here trying to make that collab happen. What
[1:55:36] Speaker 3: are some far-fetched collaborations you guys want to do that's
[1:55:39] Speaker 3: typically outside of your wheelhouse if you could collab with anyone,
[1:55:42] Speaker 3: both realistic and unrealistic? Been listening since 2018. Hopefully when
[1:55:46] Speaker 3: my emails get read one day, it'll be a huge honor.
[1:55:49] Speaker 2: Thanks, guys.
[1:55:49] Speaker 3: Here you go, Tom. Tom from Vallejo.
[1:55:51] Speaker 2: There you go. You think we can get Guga, Jan?
[1:55:56] Speaker 3: Uh, yeah. I'll say we could get Guga.
[1:55:59] Speaker 4: Guga's kind of the steak guy on food YouTube, right?
[1:56:03] Speaker 3: Learned about picanha from him.
[1:56:05] Speaker 4: Yes, he's a big proponent of picanha as Guga.
[1:56:07] Speaker 2: Dave Letterman. Yeah, there you go.
[1:56:12] Speaker 3: Sure.
[1:56:12] Speaker 2: That'd be fun.
[1:56:15] Speaker 3: Any other big collabs, gang? People outside the wheelhouse. Don't
[1:56:19] Speaker 3: have to be in games.
[1:56:22] Speaker 2: I want to talk to Al Gore about inventing the internet.
[1:56:25] Speaker 2: What was that like? Yeah.
[1:56:28] Speaker 3: My pie in the sky goal. And I feel like
[1:56:30] Speaker 3: this could potentially do this. I want Pablo Torre. We
[1:56:34] Speaker 3: need to get Pablo Torre on something. He's the smartest
[1:56:37] Speaker 3: man on the Internet.
[1:56:39] Speaker 2: He's very cool. Yes.
[1:56:40] Speaker 3: Be my big brother, please.
[1:56:42] Speaker 2: Oh, technology connection. Oh, yeah. Good call, man. That's a dude. Oh, yeah. Okay. Okay.
[1:56:51] Speaker 2: All right.
[1:56:51] Speaker 3: Bombcastgiantbomb.com is the email address. Send your emails to, you
[1:56:55] Speaker 3: can write in about any and everything and we appreciate
[1:56:57] Speaker 3: it all.
[1:56:58] Speaker 2: So Dr.
[1:56:58] Speaker 1: Ryan just said Nathan Fielder and I, yes, but also
[1:57:01] Speaker 1: what the fuck would that even be?
[1:57:02] Speaker 2: Yeah. I'd be scared.
[1:57:04] Speaker 1: I just want to shadow him for like a year,
[1:57:06] Speaker 1: you know?
[1:57:07] Speaker 2: Yeah. And if we had Pablo Torreon, would I have
[1:57:09] Speaker 2: to do the hand to head thing? The mono thing?
[1:57:12] Speaker 2: The monopole?
[1:57:13] Speaker 3: Uh, no, he would have to maybe do it to you. Um,
[1:57:17] Speaker 3: I would have to do it to him as my elder, respectfully.
[1:57:21] Speaker 2: Oh, okay. Understood. Yes, yes, yes.
[1:57:24] Speaker 3: Mike Minotti hit me with some YouTube super chats. If
[1:57:27] Speaker 3: we got any.
[1:57:28] Speaker 2: All right. We do. We do. Thank you so much, everybody.
[1:57:31] Speaker 4: Migsy says, Jeff Bacalar, don't forget to wake up Green
[1:57:33] Speaker 4: Day with Ska.
[1:57:36] Speaker 3: Oh, because September's ending.
[1:57:37] Speaker 2: I'm sorry? That's okay. I was like.
[1:57:41] Speaker 4: Sometimes I say these and I'm like, boy, I hope
[1:57:43] Speaker 4: the person this is directed at understands it.
[1:57:46] Speaker 2: Don't forget to what?
[1:57:47] Speaker 4: Don't forget to wake up Green Day with Ska.
[1:57:50] Speaker 2: With Ska? Yeah, because you've got to wake me up when...
[1:57:53] Speaker 2: September ends. Oh, gotcha, gotcha. But why Ska? Because you
[1:57:58] Speaker 2: like Ska. I don't know.
[1:57:59] Speaker 1: I think it's the joke.
[1:58:00] Speaker 7: Oh.
[1:58:01] Speaker 1: Ha. Max. Summer's saying it's the least authentic reaction ever.
[1:58:09] Speaker 2: Nope.
[1:58:09] Speaker 3: That's a real laugh from him.
[1:58:10] Speaker 1: Sometimes he's never laughed harder to be clear.
[1:58:14] Speaker 5: I do like Scott Scott's back in a big way,
[1:58:18] Speaker 5: but also.
[1:58:19] Speaker 2: Why male models? Are you serious? I just told you.
[1:58:25] Speaker 4: Max Dot Circuit says, Mike, you see newfound glory at Epcot. No,
[1:58:30] Speaker 4: for the Food and Wine Festival concert series, there was
[1:58:32] Speaker 4: a band called Element, I think, and I saw them
[1:58:36] Speaker 4: rehearsing as I walked by, but I did not watch
[1:58:38] Speaker 4: the concert.
[1:58:38] Speaker 5: Oh, we can't hear newfound glory without saying, rest in peace,
[1:58:41] Speaker 5: Jack Gilbert.
[1:58:42] Speaker 2: Very sad.
[1:58:44] Speaker 4: Alex Agogo says, YouTube wouldn't let me call Jeff Grubb
[1:58:46] Speaker 4: the thing I wanted to call him after what he
[1:58:48] Speaker 4: did to Mike. He deserves cyber... Dylan.
[1:58:52] Speaker 2: Yeah. Good news. Grub. Yeah.
[1:58:54] Speaker 3: Good.
[1:58:55] Speaker 1: Right.
[1:58:55] Speaker 2: Good news. I'm getting cyber Dillow. Cool. I think it
[1:58:59] Speaker 2: fits the crime.
[1:58:59] Speaker 4: I think as a, uh, yeah, I think as recompense
[1:59:02] Speaker 4: for this, I should be allowed to have one more,
[1:59:04] Speaker 4: one March Simpson.
[1:59:05] Speaker 2: Hey kids, can we lighten up.
[1:59:07] Speaker 4: A little during grub a little tomorrow when you're being
[1:59:09] Speaker 4: extra sad and, uh, upset at the game?
[1:59:12] Speaker 2: Oh yeah, definitely. Okay.
[1:59:13] Speaker 1: Now we'll know if karma is real Mike. Cause you know,
[1:59:15] Speaker 1: if it is, you'll win blight in the bank at
[1:59:16] Speaker 1: the bombathon this year.
[1:59:17] Speaker 2: Right. Oh, that's true.
[1:59:18] Speaker 3: It's true.
[1:59:19] Speaker 2: Oh, Antonio Morales says that this counts.
[1:59:21] Speaker 3: Spoiler, it's not real.
[1:59:22] Speaker 2: It's not a thing. Spoiler. Sorry, Mike. It's real.
[1:59:25] Speaker 4: Antonio Morales says, does this count as grub escalating?
[1:59:29] Speaker 2: It's something. It's not de-escalating. That's for sure. I met
[1:59:33] Speaker 2: Antonio Morales at All Out. He was very nice. Very
[1:59:36] Speaker 2: nice to meet him. There we go. Shout out to
[1:59:38] Speaker 2: Big Tony. Did he live up to the name Big Tony?
[1:59:41] Speaker 2: He was big.
[1:59:41] Speaker 1: He was significantly taller than me.
[1:59:43] Speaker 2: Yes, yes. Hell yeah. Bigger than Biggles Jan?
[1:59:47] Speaker 3: Yes, that's my favorite thing to come out of Final
[1:59:49] Speaker 3: Jantacy is naming the Lollapal Biggles Jant.
[1:59:55] Speaker 2: Very good. All right.
[1:59:56] Speaker 4: Thank you, MattoFit, for joining Giant Bomb Premium on YouTube.
[1:59:58] Speaker 2: Appreciate that.
[1:59:59] Speaker 4: Zombie Porn says, Mike and Sean should play the new
[2:00:02] Speaker 4: Pokemon games without Jan in retaliation to Jan orchestrating the
[2:00:06] Speaker 4: goof troopening.
[2:00:07] Speaker 2: That's a good point. Why am I catching a stray?
[2:00:10] Speaker 4: Apparently you have some bigger role in this than I understood, Jan.
[2:00:14] Speaker 3: I was told to read the lines.
[2:00:16] Speaker 2: He was clued in.
[2:00:17] Speaker 1: He could be tried.
[2:00:21] Speaker 2: I think I mentioned it on a recording of a
[2:00:23] Speaker 2: show that won't come out for a very long time. Also,
[2:00:26] Speaker 2: Chuck and Bailey know. So they didn't tell you either.
[2:00:29] Speaker 2: So you can't trust anyone. I didn't really know. She
[2:00:33] Speaker 2: was there.
[2:00:35] Speaker 5: Mike, you realize this is just validation of the father-son relationship.
[2:00:41] Speaker 2: Yeah, you never.
[2:00:43] Speaker 5: That's why they never told me. Because how could I
[2:00:45] Speaker 5: keep it from my son?
[2:00:46] Speaker 4: That's why I only sent you a picture, a special
[2:00:49] Speaker 4: picture from Epcot and nobody else.
[2:00:50] Speaker 2: Thank you. Thank you.
[2:00:53] Speaker 3: I was hoping you were having a good weekend and
[2:00:54] Speaker 3: you didn't say anything about it.
[2:00:56] Speaker 2: We did have a good weekend. No one asked.
[2:00:58] Speaker 4: Antonio Morales says, send Dan away for Catch Me If
[2:01:01] Speaker 4: You Can 3 in December, then go to AEW Worlds
[2:01:04] Speaker 4: and without him in Minnesota and hang out with new love.
[2:01:07] Speaker 2: That's pretty good. I'm already on top of that.
[2:01:13] Speaker 4: Last Geek says, did Dan play the arm wrestling game
[2:01:15] Speaker 4: at Galloping Ghosts? I beat the hardest difficulty, but I
[2:01:17] Speaker 4: think I hurt myself.
[2:01:18] Speaker 1: I didn't see that at Galloping Ghosts. If it's the
[2:01:20] Speaker 1: same one that's in Japan at some arcades, I've done that.
[2:01:23] Speaker 2: It's really cool.
[2:01:24] Speaker 5: Did they have that quick shot game with the cup
[2:01:27] Speaker 5: breaking up there?
[2:01:28] Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
[2:01:30] Speaker 1: I didn't see that.
[2:01:31] Speaker 2: That shooting gallery game? No, I didn't see that. Quick shot?
[2:01:34] Speaker 2: Quick capture. Quick capture.
[2:01:36] Speaker 1: I need to go back because we played stuff for
[2:01:39] Speaker 1: like a bit and then we wound up going to
[2:01:40] Speaker 1: the brewery across the street because you can't drink at
[2:01:42] Speaker 1: Galloping Ghost and then we just wound up drinking all night.
[2:01:44] Speaker 1: So I do need to go back and play more
[2:01:46] Speaker 1: stuff there.
[2:01:48] Speaker 4: Quick and Crash is what it's called.
[2:01:50] Speaker 2: Quick and Crash. Thank you. Quick Shatter. Turbo Sean. Turbo
[2:01:53] Speaker 2: Sean Shatter. Yes, thank you. Thank you, Chat. Let's see
[2:01:57] Speaker 2: here now. Last Geek. Also.
[2:02:00] Speaker 4: Oh, wait, before I get to that one, Eggie says,
[2:02:02] Speaker 4: has Grubb decided what class he's going to level first
[2:02:04] Speaker 4: in World of Warcraft Forever? I like level first as
[2:02:07] Speaker 4: if there will be more. Yeah, is there a class
[2:02:09] Speaker 4: you'll eat? Do you need me to go through them
[2:02:11] Speaker 4: real quick for you? No, I'm not going to play
[2:02:13] Speaker 4: this game.
[2:02:13] Speaker 2: I'm good. You are playing it for content. Of course
[2:02:16] Speaker 2: you are. There's the priest. There's the warlock, mage, paladin, warrior, hunter, rogue.
[2:02:24] Speaker 3: Guys, we have the chance to do the funniest thing.
[2:02:28] Speaker 2: We all play WoW without Mike.
[2:02:31] Speaker 1: CJ, you understand now, Jan.
[2:02:35] Speaker 2: Yes.
[2:02:36] Speaker 4: Nobody's going to like watching you guys play WoW without
[2:02:39] Speaker 4: me to give you some semblance of what's going on
[2:02:41] Speaker 4: and what you should be doing.
[2:02:42] Speaker 1: I did a WoW series on Giant Bomb. It was
[2:02:44] Speaker 1: not very popular.
[2:02:45] Speaker 4: Yeah i tell you what this one will be better
[2:02:48] Speaker 4: i'm just saying it i promise this will be better
[2:02:52] Speaker 4: than a 30-day trial of bullshit or whatever it's.
[2:02:54] Speaker 2: Called uh what's the dumbest class what's the one that
[2:02:59] Speaker 2: could be the most annoying.
[2:03:02] Speaker 4: Um i i want to give you one that's not
[2:03:04] Speaker 4: too like futsy like i don't know if you're gonna
[2:03:06] Speaker 4: like being a hunter and having to worry about your
[2:03:07] Speaker 4: pet and ammo For example, you might like being a
[2:03:11] Speaker 4: warlock because you have a pet, but it's not too much.
[2:03:13] Speaker 4: And your pet's just a little imp guy or it
[2:03:15] Speaker 4: could be a sexy succubi. You can have a succubi
[2:03:17] Speaker 4: pet later.
[2:03:18] Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll be a warlock then.
[2:03:20] Speaker 4: We'll figure it out because races can only be certain classes.
[2:03:23] Speaker 4: And that's actually a big important thing, too, is that
[2:03:25] Speaker 4: that's your starting area. It's always talking about race. That's
[2:03:28] Speaker 4: something I realized, like talking about MMOs with like a
[2:03:32] Speaker 4: not MMO first crowd is like talking about races is
[2:03:36] Speaker 4: obviously like kind of weirds people out. Like that's just
[2:03:39] Speaker 4: very much a part of the vernacular in the games.
[2:03:42] Speaker 5: Right.
[2:03:42] Speaker 2: It's like pick your race.
[2:03:43] Speaker 1: Next on the soundboard.
[2:03:48] Speaker 2: It'd be weird if I still chose white.
[2:03:51] Speaker 4: You can still just be a human.
[2:03:52] Speaker 2: Yeah. Last geek says your shirt is cool. Oh, thank you.
[2:04:01] Speaker 2: That's genuine. It's nice. Nice. Does Dan think a goofy
[2:04:06] Speaker 2: movie is real because they go to California?
[2:04:11] Speaker 1: There's pros and cons to that argument there. Like, yeah,
[2:04:13] Speaker 1: it's real because they go to California, but they're dogs.
[2:04:15] Speaker 1: But it's woke.
[2:04:16] Speaker 4: Is it more real than DuckTales, which just takes place
[2:04:19] Speaker 4: in some place called Duckburg, which is not real.
[2:04:21] Speaker 1: Goof Troop is more real than DuckTales.
[2:04:24] Speaker 2: All right. Where does Darkwing Duck happen? Is that like Chicago?
[2:04:27] Speaker 4: Darkwing Duck happens in St. Canard, another fake city.
[2:04:30] Speaker 1: Okay, that's not good.
[2:04:31] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[2:04:31] Speaker 2: There you go.
[2:04:32] Speaker 4: I hope you're all impressed that I had that one
[2:04:34] Speaker 4: in my pocket.
[2:04:36] Speaker 3: What about the Mighty Ducks cartoon that is based off
[2:04:39] Speaker 3: of the Mighty Ducks.
[2:04:41] Speaker 2: Hockey team?
[2:04:42] Speaker 1: But the Mighty Ducks movies are just like around here.
[2:04:46] Speaker 1: There's like filming locations. The cartoon's very different. They're crime-fighting,
[2:04:50] Speaker 1: hockey-playing ducks.
[2:04:51] Speaker 2: Oh, they're crime-fighting? They're cops? They're real ducks. They're chute ducks. Yes.
[2:04:56] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[2:04:57] Speaker 2: Wow.
[2:04:57] Speaker 5: Okay.
[2:04:57] Speaker 1: That is totally different. We don't have those here.
[2:05:01] Speaker 4: Big Z says, Jeff Backler for Casino Week. Are you
[2:05:04] Speaker 4: sending Jeff Grubb to Vegas?
[2:05:06] Speaker 2: Send me to Vegas. Don't send me to Vegas. I'll
[2:05:09] Speaker 2: send that one out.
[2:05:10] Speaker 5: Obviously, we can't send Jan to Vegas.
[2:05:12] Speaker 2: Grubb, I feel like you... Have you been there? Just
[2:05:15] Speaker 2: for work A couple of times Yeah How do you
[2:05:18] Speaker 2: do there?
[2:05:18] Speaker 5: How do you Not gambling wise.
[2:05:20] Speaker 2: I think I can handle Vegas Yeah I would probably
[2:05:22] Speaker 2: just like Go to a blackjack And poker.
[2:05:25] Speaker 3: Tables though Okay Here's my pitch Here's my pitch We
[2:05:27] Speaker 3: send Will there And then we give him Five hundred
[2:05:31] Speaker 3: dollars Okay And then he has to make A thousand
[2:05:35] Speaker 3: dollars Oh Okay.
[2:05:36] Speaker 4: Yes we can That'd be fine Or he just has
[2:05:39] Speaker 4: to profit He just has to profit I guess We
[2:05:42] Speaker 4: could just send Bacalar And like chuck to atlantic city
[2:05:45] Speaker 4: or something right that's probably not very far from you.
[2:05:47] Speaker 5: No i'm not going to atlantic yeah he's not allowed
[2:05:49] Speaker 5: back in atlantic city i would rather fly to vegas
[2:05:52] Speaker 5: than go to atlantic city.
[2:05:55] Speaker 1: I pissed my dad off this weekend because he always
[2:05:57] Speaker 1: like he's like he can't believe like dan luck he's
[2:05:59] Speaker 1: like god of course dan luck of course and he
[2:06:01] Speaker 1: loves uh gambling and my flight was early on sunday
[2:06:04] Speaker 1: and so there's a bar near my shitty like roadside
[2:06:07] Speaker 1: hotel called the possum pub And I went there and
[2:06:09] Speaker 1: they had a slot machine there. And so I'm just
[2:06:11] Speaker 1: getting drinks. Like it's like three in the morning. And like,
[2:06:13] Speaker 1: I'm not a big gambler. And I just walk over,
[2:06:15] Speaker 1: I put a $ 5 bill into a slot machine, pull
[2:06:17] Speaker 1: the thing. And it's like a $ 100. And I just
[2:06:20] Speaker 1: cashed out and got a free a hundred dollars. And
[2:06:22] Speaker 1: I immediately text my dad. So he sees it right
[2:06:24] Speaker 1: when he wakes up and it's like, God damn it.
[2:06:25] Speaker 2: So, I'd do all right. Did your dad ever hear
[2:06:28] Speaker 2: about me winning 10,000 for hockey that one time?
[2:06:30] Speaker 1: I told him about that, yeah. That was one of
[2:06:32] Speaker 1: the wilder things I've seen.
[2:06:33] Speaker 2: That story, man. That's so stupid. That thing is the greatest.
[2:06:38] Speaker 5: People just don't believe it when they think I'm fucking
[2:06:41] Speaker 5: blowing smoke, and I'm just like.
[2:06:42] Speaker 2: Oh, man. But you got to see it, so you know. Yeah.
[2:06:45] Speaker 3: Oh, I.
[2:06:46] Speaker 2: That's when I'm just like, it's over, man. You got this.
[2:06:50] Speaker 2: There's no way.
[2:06:52] Speaker 1: The thing I remember most is just like, and I
[2:06:55] Speaker 1: could totally empathize with grub here is like, he knows
[2:06:57] Speaker 1: that you're just going to have to wait to find
[2:06:58] Speaker 1: out if you won this. And it was a matter
[2:07:00] Speaker 1: of like minutes. And it's probably like five minutes, 10
[2:07:02] Speaker 1: minutes or something. And you just left your phone with us.
[2:07:04] Speaker 1: And you just go sit at the bar and just
[2:07:06] Speaker 1: immediately start talking to a random guy there. And I'm like, Oh,
[2:07:09] Speaker 1: he just, he needs to just pass time. Otherwise his
[2:07:11] Speaker 1: brain is going to.
[2:07:12] Speaker 2: Be like, ah, I need to go somewhere else. Exactly.
[2:07:14] Speaker 3: Yes.
[2:07:14] Speaker 2: And I was going at that guy.
[2:07:17] Speaker 1: I kept turning and looking at you and you were
[2:07:18] Speaker 1: very animated.
[2:07:19] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[2:07:19] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[2:07:22] Speaker 4: Uh nixie says i found my first from soft game
[2:07:24] Speaker 4: that i played beaten at a thrift shop today and
[2:07:27] Speaker 4: chanted arms i think the first from soft game i
[2:07:29] Speaker 4: ever played but didn't beat was cookies.
[2:07:31] Speaker 1: And cream hell yeah yeah wait i think it might
[2:07:34] Speaker 1: be i might have been saying it wrong all these
[2:07:35] Speaker 1: years i think it's the adventures of cookie and cream
[2:07:37] Speaker 1: let me make sure so we can.
[2:07:38] Speaker 4: Yeah i think you're right i think cookies is not
[2:07:40] Speaker 4: it's it's kind of messed up I don't know why.
[2:07:42] Speaker 4: The Adventures of Cookie? Well, no, the Rabbids are named
[2:07:45] Speaker 4: Cookie and Cream.
[2:07:46] Speaker 2: I get it. And they have adventures.
[2:07:47] Speaker 4: I guess the Rabbids, they wouldn't be Cookies.
[2:07:49] Speaker 2: Oh, man. I thought you were talking about Rabbids for
[2:07:52] Speaker 2: a second. No, these are the cool ones. These are
[2:07:54] Speaker 2: way better. We like these guys. We like these guys.
[2:07:57] Speaker 4: The Mixie says, could Activision do a Metal Gear Solid
[2:08:00] Speaker 4: 2 surprise for Halo? I think that if you do
[2:08:02] Speaker 4: a bait and switch and make people think it's a
[2:08:04] Speaker 4: Master Chief game, then switch it, then people will be upset.
[2:08:06] Speaker 1: Can you imagine if we had social media when Metal
[2:08:10] Speaker 1: Gear Solid 2 happened?
[2:08:12] Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
[2:08:12] Speaker 4: I mean, we had the message boards, and they were
[2:08:13] Speaker 4: pretty interesting then.
[2:08:14] Speaker 2: So we had that. That was fun.
[2:08:17] Speaker 4: You must be able to still find old IGN message
[2:08:19] Speaker 4: board posts from there.
[2:08:21] Speaker 2: Oh, that stuff is preserved somewhere, yeah. The vestibule.
[2:08:25] Speaker 4: Last Geek says, if all of Giant Bomb took a
[2:08:27] Speaker 4: week off, who would you have sub in for you
[2:08:31] Speaker 4: for the week?
[2:08:33] Speaker 2: People who are objectively worse than us, so when you
[2:08:35] Speaker 2: guys like them better. Oh, no, they'd be bad. Maybe
[2:08:38] Speaker 2: we'd be better to have, like, really cool people on
[2:08:40] Speaker 2: that just couldn't do this. Can we just, you think
[2:08:42] Speaker 2: Vitalik could just do everything by himself? Yeah. Just all
[2:08:45] Speaker 2: of it.
[2:08:46] Speaker 1: One man show with puppets.
[2:08:48] Speaker 2: Yeah. Himself and hand puppets, yeah. Chad says windbag.
[2:08:53] Speaker 5: Oh, man.
[2:08:53] Speaker 2: That just does it all. Yes.
[2:08:55] Speaker 1: I was watching him last night. He's still doing it.
[2:08:57] Speaker 1: He's killing it.
[2:08:57] Speaker 2: Yeah. I love the windbag. Shout out to the windbag.
[2:09:01] Speaker 2: Shout out to the windbag.
[2:09:02] Speaker 3: Friday night forking. Nothing bad can happen. I still fucking
[2:09:05] Speaker 3: say all of this shit to myself all the time.
[2:09:07] Speaker 2: Yeah. Body-ody-ody.
[2:09:09] Speaker 3: Yeah. I miss my mom for this.
[2:09:11] Speaker 2: Betty and Gerald, right? Was that the two old people? Oh,
[2:09:15] Speaker 2: my God.
[2:09:15] Speaker 3: I remember that.
[2:09:16] Speaker 2: Yeah. Nothing bad can happen. I think that's the answer.
[2:09:21] Speaker 3: Okay.
[2:09:22] Speaker 2: There we go.
[2:09:23] Speaker 4: Tickwid says, hey, Dan, while you were looking, we collectively
[2:09:27] Speaker 4: decided that the minions are actually historical fiction. Does that
[2:09:31] Speaker 4: make them consumable media now? I mean, you hate you
[2:09:34] Speaker 4: don't like anything historical. You hate the powder wig stuff.
[2:09:36] Speaker 2: You tell me all the time.
[2:09:38] Speaker 1: I mean, there's a point like history starts getting interesting
[2:09:41] Speaker 1: in like the 60s, I guess. right like just i'm
[2:09:48] Speaker 1: not even talking about history i guess i guess i'm
[2:09:49] Speaker 1: just thinking i start liking movies in the 60s so
[2:09:53] Speaker 1: i guess i don't really pay attention to any history right.
[2:09:56] Speaker 4: Well yeah yeah we know it's like.
[2:09:58] Speaker 1: You're like oh easy rider and like the 70s you
[2:10:00] Speaker 1: start getting clockwork in 2000 2001 was in the 60s
[2:10:02] Speaker 1: so like i think i'm just confusing movies with history
[2:10:05] Speaker 1: so i think movies get interesting in the 60s history
[2:10:07] Speaker 1: i just don't really i don't know shit about history
[2:10:11] Speaker 1: We know.
[2:10:11] Speaker 2: We know. We'll move on. That's okay.
[2:10:14] Speaker 1: I just don't find it interesting now.
[2:10:16] Speaker 2: Yeah. Tyler James Bassett asks... It was my minor in college,
[2:10:21] Speaker 2: by the way.
[2:10:22] Speaker 1: I was a history minor.
[2:10:23] Speaker 2: Don't tell us that. It makes it worse. That's just...
[2:10:27] Speaker 2: I mean, that's just... That was. That's your history minor.
[2:10:30] Speaker 2: Hell yeah. I have not felt.
[2:10:32] Speaker 4: I've never felt worse about the college education system than
[2:10:35] Speaker 4: I do in this moment. Secondary education. Actually, I want
[2:10:38] Speaker 4: to go find my diploma and burn it now.
[2:10:40] Speaker 2: When you said that, actually. Dan's right.
[2:10:42] Speaker 4: Ugh.
[2:10:43] Speaker 2: It's just pretty. I mean, come on. It's a sham.
[2:10:46] Speaker 2: Let's go. Yeah.
[2:10:47] Speaker 4: Tyler James Bay says, is Dan the Shane Douglas of
[2:10:50] Speaker 4: Giant Bomb?
[2:10:51] Speaker 2: What do you think they mean by that?
[2:10:52] Speaker 1: Well, because the franchise is his nickname. I just think
[2:10:54] Speaker 1: it's a cool nickname. I kind of hate Shane Douglas, actually.
[2:10:57] Speaker 2: I always thought he was really like a bad dude, right?
[2:10:59] Speaker 2: I don't know.
[2:11:00] Speaker 1: He's not like a notorious, especially in the annals of
[2:11:02] Speaker 1: wrestling history, not among the worst.
[2:11:04] Speaker 2: He was just kind of a cringy, just, I don't know.
[2:11:07] Speaker 2: He's kind of a try hard, you know, like, yeah,
[2:11:09] Speaker 2: he's important to history.
[2:11:11] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[2:11:13] Speaker 4: Uh, Migsy says, Dan Reichert, same thing happened to Patrick
[2:11:16] Speaker 4: with his mom. This is referring to the memory card
[2:11:18] Speaker 4: in the envelope.
[2:11:19] Speaker 2: Ah, yes.
[2:11:20] Speaker 3: Oh.
[2:11:20] Speaker 2: Yeah, which, yeah, disaster. Oh, this is, this is interesting.
[2:11:24] Speaker 4: Teaknut says, Mike and Jan should get Mary and Fawn
[2:11:26] Speaker 4: Fantasy 14. It would be the social event of the year.
[2:11:29] Speaker 4: What if that was a Bobathon incentive? Jan and I
[2:11:33] Speaker 4: will get married in Final Fantasy XIV, which is a
[2:11:36] Speaker 4: thing in that game. I've seen like weddings in that
[2:11:39] Speaker 4: game and it freaked me out how it was like
[2:11:41] Speaker 4: pomp and circumstance.
[2:11:43] Speaker 2: It was crazy.
[2:11:44] Speaker 4: It's not just like, oh, we're doing this completely through
[2:11:47] Speaker 4: role playing. There is like a system in the game
[2:11:49] Speaker 4: to give people a ring. There's like a cut scene.
[2:11:51] Speaker 4: You get a title or something like you get married.
[2:11:54] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[2:11:56] Speaker 4: Triple shot chances what am I on this show a
[2:11:59] Speaker 4: cuck look if you want to marry Jan you.
[2:12:01] Speaker 3: Go ahead folks for the right price you too at
[2:12:04] Speaker 3: home can marry me in Final Fantasy 14 you know is.
[2:12:10] Speaker 4: That kind of a dowry they're giving us money Perhaps.
[2:12:14] Speaker 4: Is there a level cap for getting married yet to
[2:12:17] Speaker 4: be a certain level?
[2:12:18] Speaker 2: I don't know. Yes, you have to be 18.
[2:12:21] Speaker 3: This is where we do a dating show where it's
[2:12:25] Speaker 3: like Mary Jan or something.
[2:12:27] Speaker 2: Oh, that'd be actually. Whoa. Oh, imagine we like got
[2:12:30] Speaker 2: community members. Everyone is. We did the bachelor. Final Fantasy
[2:12:33] Speaker 2: 14 with Jan.
[2:12:36] Speaker 3: Actually, let's table that idea.
[2:12:39] Speaker 2: More dating shows on Giant Bomb. Let's table that idea.
[2:12:41] Speaker 2: That's pretty good.
[2:12:42] Speaker 3: The more I get acquainted with Final Fantasy XIV.
[2:12:44] Speaker 2: Yeah, because you can have roses in the game. Imagine
[2:12:45] Speaker 2: if you gave me the roses and you had to
[2:12:47] Speaker 2: give them to me.
[2:12:49] Speaker 3: I see perhaps maybe the worst name. Mary Jan Kill?
[2:12:52] Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh.
[2:12:56] Speaker 3: All right.
[2:12:57] Speaker 4: Next up here is from TheLastGeek who says, how about
[2:13:00] Speaker 4: a Bombathon incentive where Giant Bomb hikes the National Park
[2:13:05] Speaker 4: in Australia?
[2:13:06] Speaker 2: That inspired Big Walk.
[2:13:08] Speaker 4: I mean, incentives that require us to have to have
[2:13:11] Speaker 4: very expensive flights are probably not going to.
[2:13:13] Speaker 2: Yeah, is that what you cost to get eight guys
[2:13:15] Speaker 2: to Australia? Yeah, that's right. Four million dollars!
[2:13:18] Speaker 4: Yeah, that one might be a little rough, unfortunately.
[2:13:22] Speaker 2: One day I would love to go to Australia. Oh yeah, yeah.
[2:13:24] Speaker 2: Me too.
[2:13:25] Speaker 4: Jan, I was going to tell you to do this
[2:13:26] Speaker 4: too before your next one. Last Geek says, Jan, please
[2:13:28] Speaker 4: turn off nameplates for people not in your party in
[2:13:30] Speaker 4: Final Fantasy XIV. You can't be in Limso with all
[2:13:33] Speaker 4: that nonsense.
[2:13:33] Speaker 2: Thanks. Love you. So, yeah.
[2:13:35] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[2:13:35] Speaker 4: You can, like, make it so you only see nameplates for, like, yeah,
[2:13:38] Speaker 4: your friends or people in your party.
[2:13:39] Speaker 2: So, yeah.
[2:13:39] Speaker 4: Just any random that walks by isn't clogging up your screen.
[2:13:43] Speaker 2: Okay. Colton Collins says, tism stimming time.
[2:13:51] Speaker 3: Meep.
[2:13:51] Speaker 4: Morp.
[2:13:52] Speaker 2: Zeep. Thop. There you go.
[2:13:55] Speaker 4: I guess I'll just read it.
[2:13:56] Speaker 2: I'll just read anything. No, don't ask.
[2:13:57] Speaker 5: You're like Ron Burgundy.
[2:14:01] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[2:14:02] Speaker 4: Migsy says, why is Giant Bomb a magnet for Jeffs?
[2:14:06] Speaker 4: Because they have nowhere else to go.
[2:14:07] Speaker 2: Yeah. It's like that Norm joke about the moth. It's
[2:14:10] Speaker 2: like the light was on. We just arrived here.
[2:14:14] Speaker 5: It's because no one is named Jeff anymore. And all
[2:14:17] Speaker 5: the elder millennials named Jeff.
[2:14:21] Speaker 2: We've been in the support group and then we kind
[2:14:22] Speaker 2: of help each other out. Yeah. That's it. We all
[2:14:25] Speaker 2: go to the meeting.
[2:14:26] Speaker 1: Hey, Jan, you guys mentioned The Bachelor just reminded me
[2:14:30] Speaker 1: of something. Jan, do you want to read the casting
[2:14:32] Speaker 1: call for the thing I just put in All the Stars?
[2:14:34] Speaker 1: I saw this last night.
[2:14:36] Speaker 2: Oh, it's, okay, okay.
[2:14:38] Speaker 3: This one right here?
[2:14:39] Speaker 2: Yeah. Do you want me to read what the picture says? Yeah,
[2:14:42] Speaker 2: the picture.
[2:14:43] Speaker 3: Now casting, do you think you're an escape artist? Can
[2:14:47] Speaker 3: you survive, scheme, and be the first to escape and
[2:14:50] Speaker 3: win a $ 100, 000 prize? Looking for bold, skilled, and charismatic
[2:14:54] Speaker 3: individuals who will live and compete inside a real decommissioned
[2:14:58] Speaker 3: prison that has been transformed into the setting for this
[2:15:01] Speaker 3: extraordinary competition? Apply now. And then there's the website.
[2:15:06] Speaker 5: I love this is your hobby now.
[2:15:08] Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Yeah.
[2:15:09] Speaker 1: I want to get on the show where they put
[2:15:11] Speaker 1: me in a real prison and I have to escape.
[2:15:13] Speaker 1: I absolutely want to do that.
[2:15:15] Speaker 3: Oh my God, and then Dan will do it prison
[2:15:17] Speaker 3: break status. I'll get my back tattooed with the schematics.
[2:15:21] Speaker 2: Okay, okay. Yeah, there we go.
[2:15:22] Speaker 1: Oh yes, I am reaching out. I am trying to
[2:15:25] Speaker 1: get on the prison break show.
[2:15:26] Speaker 2: And Chad's very excited about you being put in prison.
[2:15:28] Speaker 1: I can bug SU producer hero on Instagram and say
[2:15:32] Speaker 1: you want Dan Reichert on this show. I would love
[2:15:34] Speaker 1: to break out of prison.
[2:15:35] Speaker 2: TV's Dan Reichert.
[2:15:38] Speaker 4: Migsy says, Jeff Grubb is upgrading to the ACES app.
[2:15:42] Speaker 4: Xbox Alley X from the Asus ROG Alley 2013, a mistake?
[2:15:46] Speaker 4: Just double-thinking my decision. I mean, 2013, it's gotta be
[2:15:49] Speaker 4: a pretty big upgrade.
[2:15:52] Speaker 3: 2013?
[2:15:52] Speaker 2: That can't be right. It's 2023. Oh, okay, okay. Did
[2:15:55] Speaker 2: we have these in 2013? Okay, so I'm proud of it.
[2:15:58] Speaker 2: I have that original one. That Alley X is from... Wait,
[2:16:02] Speaker 2: there was two? Yeah, so he's talking about, so there's
[2:16:05] Speaker 2: the original one, the Roger Ally. I think, Jan, you
[2:16:07] Speaker 2: had one as well. Like, we talked about it for
[2:16:09] Speaker 2: a while. Maybe not. But we definitely talked about the
[2:16:11] Speaker 2: Roger Ally a lot. And then they had the Ally
[2:16:14] Speaker 2: X with Xbox. And that is more powerful. They had
[2:16:16] Speaker 2: an X? Wasn't that last year? And then they did
[2:16:18] Speaker 2: the Xbox X. Yeah. Yeah.
[2:16:21] Speaker 1: I use the Xbox X every once in a while.
[2:16:22] Speaker 2: It's pretty solid.
[2:16:23] Speaker 1: Like, I actually do like the form factor quite a bit.
[2:16:25] Speaker 2: If you already have an ally, though, it might not
[2:16:28] Speaker 2: be a huge noticeable upgrade. Some games will run better,
[2:16:31] Speaker 2: and some games that don't run on the ally might
[2:16:34] Speaker 2: work on the Xbox One. But, God, if you can
[2:16:37] Speaker 2: hold out, I don't know. It depends on the price.
[2:16:40] Speaker 2: If you're paying a difference of $ 500, no way. If
[2:16:41] Speaker 2: it's a difference of $ 200, $ 300, go for it.
[2:16:47] Speaker 4: Last Geek says, Jerf, my birthday is on Sunday. As
[2:16:50] Speaker 4: the most dadly of the crew, can you tell me
[2:16:52] Speaker 4: you are proud of me and trying to be a
[2:16:54] Speaker 4: video game YouTuber isn't a waste of my time.
[2:16:57] Speaker 2: Thanks, Dad. Oh, buddy. Who's Last Geek? Last Geek.
[2:17:03] Speaker 5: Listen, I am proud of you, Last Geek, because you're
[2:17:07] Speaker 5: doing what makes.
[2:17:08] Speaker 2: You feel good.
[2:17:09] Speaker 5: And I think that's awesome. It's not a waste of
[2:17:13] Speaker 5: time if you're able to make it happen. Putting the
[2:17:16] Speaker 5: best version of yourself out there, and that's important.
[2:17:19] Speaker 2: You know? And listen to your gut. I trust your gut.
[2:17:22] Speaker 2: I trust your judgment. You see value.
[2:17:24] Speaker 5: You understand Giant Bomb's worth your time and money. So
[2:17:28] Speaker 5: I know that you'll know when the time to maybe
[2:17:31] Speaker 5: make a change is there.
[2:17:34] Speaker 2: Just listen to your gut. Listen to your body. It's
[2:17:37] Speaker 2: the right move. Happy birthday, bud. Listen to your body,
[2:17:40] Speaker 2: yaddy yaddy. Get a real job! Whoa, Mike. Mobius says, Mike,
[2:17:46] Speaker 2: it was nice that you updated your website during the break.
[2:17:49] Speaker 2: Is this... a reference to my very old give Mike
[2:17:52] Speaker 2: Minotti a games journalism job or whatever from forever ago?
[2:17:57] Speaker 2: Because you guys made me mouth Goof Troop. What did
[2:18:00] Speaker 2: you do? That's how he got his job in this
[2:18:04] Speaker 2: industry in the first place. Yeah, I had a website.
[2:18:06] Speaker 2: It was a WordPress. Give Mike a job or something.
[2:18:08] Speaker 2: And then he emailed Dan Shue every day or something. Oh, wow.
[2:18:13] Speaker 4: I can't imagine what else that would be a reference
[2:18:14] Speaker 4: to Mobius, right? But that's pretty deep Mikey lore. Maybe
[2:18:18] Speaker 4: you're up on.
[2:18:18] Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know what other websites I'd
[2:18:21] Speaker 2: have that I updated during the break.
[2:18:22] Speaker 4: Antonio Morales says, Dan was real nice. I told him
[2:18:26] Speaker 4: a Blake Clark recommendation and he asked me for a picture.
[2:18:29] Speaker 4: Love meeting my fans.
[2:18:30] Speaker 2: Oh, how nice. How nice.
[2:18:32] Speaker 1: He did give me a picture.
[2:18:33] Speaker 4: Bigsy says, Mike Minotti with three wild games in service now.
[2:18:37] Speaker 4: Doesn't that make it U-O-W now? I think they're trying
[2:18:40] Speaker 4: to say universe of Warcraft.
[2:18:41] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[2:18:42] Speaker 4: It doesn't quite have the ring to it as WoW does, huh?
[2:18:46] Speaker 2: World's a good word. World. World of tanks. World of
[2:18:50] Speaker 2: war tanks. Yeah. I've felt this one.
[2:18:54] Speaker 4: Jonathan Nias says, makes me nervous every time Grub says jiggering.
[2:18:59] Speaker 2: I can feel the room get a little chilly every
[2:19:01] Speaker 2: time I say it. Every time. It's like when I
[2:19:03] Speaker 2: talk about that Super Nintendo game, Terranigma.
[2:19:05] Speaker 5: Hey.
[2:19:05] Speaker 2: Yeah, like a sharp intake of breath every time, yeah.
[2:19:08] Speaker 3: Yeah, every time they say clanker in Star Wars Zero Company,
[2:19:11] Speaker 3: I'm like, y'all need to lay off, guys.
[2:19:14] Speaker 2: I am surprised how much that's begun to feel like
[2:19:16] Speaker 2: a real slur. I am like, that's crazy.
[2:19:18] Speaker 1: There was Halle Berry's glistening face. back torso uh during uh.
[2:19:24] Speaker 8: Oh yeah that was a close call that wasn't even
[2:19:28] Speaker 8: a close call that was just the word oh yeah but.
[2:19:32] Speaker 4: It's a close call in terms of like you're you're
[2:19:34] Speaker 4: lucky we understand dan i.
[2:19:35] Speaker 1: Mean it was very literal what i was describing but
[2:19:38] Speaker 1: yes one to the other it was a navarro style
[2:19:41] Speaker 1: slip yes.
[2:19:42] Speaker 4: And that was like an oldie like that one's gone
[2:19:44] Speaker 4: away it took me a bit to register like oh man.
[2:19:46] Speaker 2: I remember that one yeah yeah wow.
[2:19:49] Speaker 5: You don't understand what close call means though I guess.
[2:19:52] Speaker 2: Me? Oh, Mike.
[2:19:53] Speaker 3: Like, he said it. Yeah, the word just came out.
[2:19:56] Speaker 4: It's a close call in the sense of, like, you know,
[2:19:58] Speaker 4: you're right, you're right, you're right. Fine, I'll take it,
[2:20:00] Speaker 4: I'll take it. I like how somebody said that Jackie's,
[2:20:03] Speaker 4: when we were talking about PS2, sounded like a slur.
[2:20:06] Speaker 2: Yeah. The Jackie, it was a... I never liked calling
[2:20:09] Speaker 2: the guys in Banjo-Kazooie Jiggies. That doesn't sound good.
[2:20:12] Speaker 3: No.
[2:20:13] Speaker 2: What are we doing, man? I don't like it. What's happening?
[2:20:18] Speaker 3: Next Super Chat if there's another one.
[2:20:20] Speaker 2: There are no more Super Chats. We did it. Thank
[2:20:22] Speaker 2: you so much, everybody. Appreciate it. Wow, thank you so much.
[2:20:25] Speaker 2: That's awesome. Can I have you explain something to me
[2:20:27] Speaker 2: real quick? I put a link in chat to an
[2:20:29] Speaker 2: Instagram post of a guy in World of Warcraft going
[2:20:32] Speaker 2: over a hill, and he sees a giant, like, parade
[2:20:36] Speaker 2: a march of i guess other players going to attack
[2:20:39] Speaker 2: someplace is this what world of warcraft is really like i.
[2:20:42] Speaker 4: Mean this looks this is intense uh looking to me
[2:20:44] Speaker 4: i've never seen quite this many people marching but back
[2:20:47] Speaker 4: in vanilla like i.
[2:20:49] Speaker 1: Know about this the leroy jenkins right that well that's
[2:20:52] Speaker 1: not this video oh that's the most modern internet thing

[2:21:01] Speaker 1: years ago it went viral I know.
[2:21:03] Speaker 4: I met Leroy Jenkins at the World of Warcraft movie
