Fantasy Things is back! In our annual celebration of everything strange, stupid and uniquely college football, we draft the moments, tropes, broadcast oddities and completely unforeseen bits of nonsense we want on our team for the 2026 season. We’re not picking players or predicting champions. We’re trying to anticipate the stuff that makes you stop on a Saturday afternoon and think, “Of course this is happening in college football.” This year’s board gets weird quickly. We get into coaches behaving strangely, broadcasts going off the rails, new ways technology could make the sport even more ridiculous, and a few very specific scenarios that feel just plausible enough to happen. There are also some long-shot “penny stocks” at the end, including a handful of ideas that are probably terrible bets but would be incredible if they somehow hit. [0:02] Speaker 1: Welcome to the solid verbal hell that for me, I'm
[0:06] Speaker 1: a man, I'm forty. I've heard so many players say, well,
[0:09] Speaker 1: I want to be happy. You want to be happy
[0:11] Speaker 1: for dake Ato State. Is that whoo whoo? And no
[0:15] Speaker 1: Dan and tie.
[0:18] Speaker 2: Dan Rubinstein. It is time for an annual tradition. Welcome
[0:23] Speaker 2: back to the show. How are you, my good friend.
[0:25] Speaker 1: I'm terrific. I'm very excited for this. I spoke with
[0:29] Speaker 1: my agent. I think we're going to get a great,
[0:31] Speaker 1: great landing spot for my team. I don't know what
[0:34] Speaker 1: any of that means. Uh, this is Fantasy Things. This
[0:36] Speaker 1: is the best. We've done it live in front of
[0:38] Speaker 1: studio audiences, and we've done it within the comfort of
[0:42] Speaker 1: our own homes. And that's what flavor this year's is.
[0:46] Speaker 1: And I'm very excited to do Fantasy Things for twenty
[0:49] Speaker 1: twenty six because I know, no matter what kind of
[0:55] Speaker 1: ridiculous items that we draft, things that are either tees
[1:00] Speaker 1: and we'll explain what Fantasy Things is. I know, no
[1:02] Speaker 1: matter what we draft, however ridiculous the ways that we
[1:07] Speaker 1: think about this sport, that the sport is going to
[1:11] Speaker 1: out ridiculous anything we can conjure up like there was
[1:15] Speaker 1: no possibility that you or I could have come up with.
[1:19] Speaker 1: Last season, by the end of the year, a major
[1:22] Speaker 1: college football coach will have been caught messaging only fans
[1:28] Speaker 1: models shortly before kickoff. And now that was like the
[1:34] Speaker 1: least serious of the accusations. Obviously sure, And now I
[1:38] Speaker 1: have to think to myself, well, what's the next step
[1:42] Speaker 1: when it comes to coaches, or players or staff members
[1:47] Speaker 1: as it relates to messaging only fans models before kickoff?
[1:51] Speaker 1: That's where my brain has to go, because this is
[1:53] Speaker 1: the silliest and best sport of them all.
[1:56] Speaker 2: It really is, as we said time and again, it
[1:59] Speaker 2: is the only sport in this country where one of
[2:01] Speaker 2: the biggest teams is represented by a giant nut. Correct,
[2:05] Speaker 2: That is what we've got here today. We, of course,
[2:08] Speaker 2: are a college football show. This is probably the least
[2:12] Speaker 2: serious version of the college football show that we do
[2:15] Speaker 2: every season. I went back deep into the archives to
[2:19] Speaker 2: see when we actually started this concept. I believe it
[2:22] Speaker 2: was the year of Our Lord twenty fifteen.
[2:25] Speaker 1: That sounds right, which, by the way, if this is
[2:27] Speaker 1: the least serious college football episode, we'll do in a
[2:31] Speaker 1: way that makes it the most college football episode that
[2:34] Speaker 1: we will do.
[2:35] Speaker 2: I believe that's accurate. I believe that's accurate now. Somewhere
[2:38] Speaker 2: along the way, there was at least a year or
[2:41] Speaker 2: two where we did not do fantasy things. So for
[2:44] Speaker 2: a long time we did this as sort of our
[2:46] Speaker 2: primary concept whenever we were doing a live show. I
[2:50] Speaker 2: missed doing this as a live show. I miss doing
[2:53] Speaker 2: this as a live show. It was great to just
[2:55] Speaker 2: do it in front of people and have everybody joining in.
[2:58] Speaker 2: We will do our part here to make it worthwhile
[3:00] Speaker 2: over the next hour or so. If you are new here,
[3:04] Speaker 2: please rate, review, and subscribe. You're gonna hear me pushing
[3:07] Speaker 2: verballers dot Com pretty hard over the next week, week
[3:11] Speaker 2: and a half or so as we try to get
[3:12] Speaker 2: people in the door to play our games, vote in
[3:15] Speaker 2: our polls, take advantage of the perks that come along
[3:19] Speaker 2: with that. I will talk about that a little bit later.
[3:22] Speaker 1: After the groupie incident at the two Arena in twenty nineteen,
[3:26] Speaker 1: I guess we had to scale back and do things
[3:29] Speaker 1: more responsibly, and Ty has obviously issued both a written
[3:34] Speaker 1: and audio and video apology for everything that transpired behind
[3:37] Speaker 1: the scenes at that arena, and we've moved past it.
[3:41] Speaker 2: Sure, Okay, Fantasy Things. We started this concept, as I
[3:46] Speaker 2: said back in twenty fifteen, we did not know that
[3:49] Speaker 2: it would catch on in the way that it has.
[3:52] Speaker 2: To my knowledge, there have been at least four other
[3:56] Speaker 2: attempts at a Fantasy Things style episode by other folks
[4:02] Speaker 2: over the last year or so.
[4:04] Speaker 1: Siah form of flattery tie since serious form of flattery.
[4:07] Speaker 2: I'm just no, absolutely, I'm just saying I think we
[4:11] Speaker 2: do it better because we're the ogs. Okay, it comes
[4:13] Speaker 2: to fantasy Things. So we've got our drafted from me,
[4:16] Speaker 2: our draft bank in front of us. Why don't you
[4:18] Speaker 2: explain to the fine people what exactly this is.
[4:20] Speaker 1: We're not drafting players, we're not drafting teams, we're not
[4:23] Speaker 1: drafting coaches. We are not predicting winners on this specific episode.
[4:28] Speaker 1: What we are doing is selecting things, situations, tropes, things
[4:35] Speaker 1: people say, cliches, unreal backwards moments that seem rare, but
[4:43] Speaker 1: if they happen to hit boom. What are the stakes
[4:46] Speaker 1: for this ten thousand dollars tie? Is that the number
[4:50] Speaker 1: We're not going We're going to need.
[4:51] Speaker 2: A sponsor if we want to give away that kind
[4:53] Speaker 2: of cash, but sure.
[4:54] Speaker 1: We'll it'll be to each other, right that who drafts
[4:56] Speaker 1: the better team? So we are drafting these sort of
[5:00] Speaker 1: situations and things are I think most notable moment or
[5:05] Speaker 1: item that has been drafted is somebody saying that a
[5:09] Speaker 1: quarterback who is not Baker Mayfield, saying, Hi's got a
[5:13] Speaker 1: little bit of Baker Mayfield, A bit of Baker Mayfield,
[5:16] Speaker 1: a lit you gotta go up high on the little
[5:19] Speaker 1: a little bit of Baker Mayfield in him. We've drafted
[5:21] Speaker 1: things like uh, touch screens going wrong, where like a
[5:26] Speaker 1: studio host. We've drafted I mean, take your pick. There
[5:30] Speaker 1: have been strength the strength coach with a screw loose,
[5:34] Speaker 1: an unbelievable one, and we honor in treasure those strength coaches,
[5:38] Speaker 1: to be clear, but yeah, we it's it's those those silly,
[5:43] Speaker 1: fun little moments that separate college football from the sports
[5:46] Speaker 1: pack that we so sometimes look. It could be like
[5:50] Speaker 1: something happening with a punt, or something happening with a
[5:52] Speaker 1: specific kind of touchdown dance, or something like that, something
[5:55] Speaker 1: that is rare but is a college football thing that
[5:59] Speaker 1: we can and claim to be our own. I think
[6:02] Speaker 1: that's right.
[6:03] Speaker 2: It's also worth noting we've been doing it now for
[6:06] Speaker 2: over a decade, we still don't actually have a scoring system.
[6:09] Speaker 2: So more than anything else, we're just trying to give you, guys,
[6:13] Speaker 2: something to watch out for, something else to keep in
[6:16] Speaker 2: the back of your mind as you're watching twenty twenty
[6:19] Speaker 2: six college football.
[6:20] Speaker 1: But I think the way we can score this is
[6:22] Speaker 1: not scoring at all. I think what it is is
[6:24] Speaker 1: people just tell us what resonates with them, right that,
[6:28] Speaker 1: Like which sex and the city character are you? Which
[6:31] Speaker 1: power ranger do you identify with? Which you know, take
[6:34] Speaker 1: your pick? Like you know there's movie characters that are like, yeah,
[6:38] Speaker 1: I've always been like team Darth or whatever, Team Darth, Babe,
[6:43] Speaker 1: I don't know. So you tell us, and by that
[6:46] Speaker 1: metric we can say, Okay, this is the winning thing
[6:50] Speaker 1: that they want to be associated with. A listener wants
[6:52] Speaker 1: to be associated with. That's the only thing I can
[6:54] Speaker 1: think of.
[6:54] Speaker 2: If nothing more, it gives you something else to watch for.
[6:57] Speaker 2: As you said at the top, this is a truly
[7:00] Speaker 2: ridiculous sport. It gets more and more ridiculous each time
[7:02] Speaker 2: we blow up the old Twitter sphere. So why stop now?
[7:06] Speaker 2: Why don't we just steer into it. We've been doing
[7:08] Speaker 2: it for a while. If you have thoughts on this
[7:10] Speaker 2: leave us a comment wherever it is that you can.
[7:12] Speaker 2: Wherever it is you could assume this episode. Soliverbo at
[7:16] Speaker 2: gmail dot com is also a place you can go
[7:19] Speaker 2: if you're interested in sharing your thoughts. Dan, we did
[7:22] Speaker 2: have the ping pong balls in front of us earlier,
[7:28] Speaker 2: and you drew the very first pick.
[7:30] Speaker 1: So would you did you drew the first pick? Yes? Oh,
[7:33] Speaker 1: I have to bring up the bank in front of me. Then, Di,
[7:35] Speaker 1: you're you're I think we're jumping right in. Okay, Fantasy
[7:38] Speaker 1: Things twenty twenty six, I have it in front of me.
[7:41] Speaker 1: I did mention that I was pitching what did I
[7:46] Speaker 1: call it? A hand job? Cut away the hand?
[7:48] Speaker 2: Yeah, you did that on the bonus episode.
[7:50] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that if something sexual was happening in the
[7:52] Speaker 1: crowd or something inappropriate, What was happening in the crowd
[7:55] Speaker 1: and a camera person happened to see it, the director
[7:57] Speaker 1: quickly cut away.
[7:58] Speaker 2: Yeah right, So we're not going to draft that one. Okay,
[8:02] Speaker 2: But Dan Rubinstein, you're on the clock. Let us know
[8:05] Speaker 2: your first pick.
[8:10] Speaker 1: All right, With the first pick in the twenty twenty
[8:14] Speaker 1: six college football Fantasy Things Draft, I'm taking a coach
[8:19] Speaker 1: jokes about asking Ai for coaching advice after a game
[8:22] Speaker 1: goes horribly wrong. Now it's pretty good, right we in
[8:28] Speaker 1: previous years we've used like the latest technology to make
[8:32] Speaker 1: college football fantasy things. Joke I'm going to use. I mean,
[8:37] Speaker 1: we don't hear a lot from coordinators or position coaches,
[8:40] Speaker 1: but you know, you get a coach after an embarrassing
[8:42] Speaker 1: loss and he's super down on himself. I'm going to
[8:46] Speaker 1: take that coach saying, you know what, maybe next time
[8:49] Speaker 1: I need to ask Gemini for how we're running our
[8:52] Speaker 1: red zone defense. Do you think that's an overreach it?
[8:57] Speaker 2: No, My bigger question is actually which coach do you
[9:00] Speaker 2: think is most apt to do that?
[9:03] Speaker 1: Eli Drinkwitz, and not just because he has glasses, just
[9:06] Speaker 1: because he's candid, doesn't beat ranked teams, but gets close
[9:11] Speaker 1: a lot right and and sort of runs a little
[9:15] Speaker 1: bit hot. I was also thinking Kenny Dillingham for that
[9:18] Speaker 1: that reason as well, because he's he's always very frank,
[9:20] Speaker 1: which I appreciate about him. And so you gotta lean
[9:24] Speaker 1: into your coaches that seem the most likely to be
[9:28] Speaker 1: apoplectic four dollars word after giving away a game late,
[9:32] Speaker 1: and that there's something about Missouri football that the Venn
[9:36] Speaker 1: diagram feels aggressively appropriate there.
[9:40] Speaker 2: I also think you need to consider coaches that are
[9:43] Speaker 2: entering this season with varying levels of desperation. Sure, you
[9:48] Speaker 2: know there's a whole spectrum there, but you could almost
[9:52] Speaker 2: envision a very.
[9:54] Speaker 1: Odd sequence involving Dabo Sweeney.
[9:57] Speaker 2: Yep, you could almost envision something of an odds circumstance
[10:03] Speaker 2: involving John Summrall.
[10:06] Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, there's a lot of coaches who run hot.
[10:09] Speaker 1: I just don't think Dabo is like deep in the
[10:11] Speaker 1: Claude game. Why don't.
[10:13] Speaker 2: I don't know if any of them are other than
[10:15] Speaker 2: Brian Kelly.
[10:15] Speaker 1: Of course, I don't think it's gonna be Dabbo no offense,
[10:19] Speaker 1: just because as soon as he hears the word Claude,
[10:22] Speaker 1: his mind will go to the oldest possible Claude famous pert.
[10:27] Speaker 1: I don't even know who that is.
[10:28] Speaker 2: Jean Claude Van dam is probably that where it goes, Yes, Claude,
[10:32] Speaker 2: well I know John Claude, Yeah, doing the splits and
[10:36] Speaker 2: then just goes on a rant about time Coop.
[10:39] Speaker 1: That would be the closest we get to Dabbo referencing AI.
[10:42] Speaker 2: I think, Yeah, I mean we have a tendency to
[10:44] Speaker 2: bring up the tech thing of the moment, as you said,
[10:48] Speaker 2: uncontrollable touch screens. We've talked about sudden broadcast outages. We've
[10:52] Speaker 2: talked about the late night ESPN camera, you know what
[10:55] Speaker 2: I mean, like the four ADP camera that they only
[10:58] Speaker 2: give to the Rod Gilmour.
[10:59] Speaker 1: Games always always without fail. So yeah, I.
[11:03] Speaker 2: Mean, given the prevalence of this new technology, someone's going
[11:07] Speaker 2: to be presented with it, and someone is going to
[11:10] Speaker 2: make an odd joke regarding it, And I'm not going
[11:14] Speaker 2: to rule out the fact that it could be Dabbo.
[11:17] Speaker 1: I think we'll get a reference to AI from Dabo
[11:22] Speaker 1: in that he has no idea what it is, no
[11:25] Speaker 1: idea what it does, and he's asked his children or
[11:29] Speaker 1: his younger relatives about it, and maybe that's the answer,
[11:33] Speaker 1: like he will reference it without knowing. I fully don't
[11:36] Speaker 1: know what it is. So yeah, there it is. My pick,
[11:39] Speaker 1: you're ready take it.
[11:46] Speaker 2: My pick is a passive aggressive James Franklin.
[11:51] Speaker 1: An oldie but a goodie. Every year James Franklin with
[11:54] Speaker 1: a new adjective. I picks him high every year. Every year.
[11:58] Speaker 2: He is the fan of see things draft pick that
[12:01] Speaker 2: keeps on being draftable. Each year, we just, as he said,
[12:05] Speaker 2: we alter the modifier and we pick them all over again.
[12:08] Speaker 2: James Franklin, at least within this concept, is sort of
[12:11] Speaker 2: the gift that keeps on giving. I think we've already
[12:14] Speaker 2: seen this a little bit in his time at Virginia Tech.
[12:17] Speaker 2: It is very clear if you have listened to any
[12:21] Speaker 2: of his preseason comments that, even though he has not
[12:25] Speaker 2: come out and said as much, very clear that James
[12:28] Speaker 2: Franklin does not like the way things went down at
[12:30] Speaker 2: Penn State.
[12:31] Speaker 1: It's also a good pick because the transition happened so quickly.
[12:35] Speaker 1: He became the Virginia Tech head coach during the same
[12:40] Speaker 1: season in which he was the Penn State coach, so
[12:44] Speaker 1: he didn't have time to sit and meditate on how
[12:47] Speaker 1: everything went wrong at Penn State. So he's just he's
[12:51] Speaker 1: still in that waiting pool.
[12:53] Speaker 2: I think that's right, and I mean I thought of
[12:56] Speaker 2: going a couple different directions with this. The other contender
[13:00] Speaker 2: was James Franklin accidentally starts talking as if he is
[13:03] Speaker 2: still the coach.
[13:04] Speaker 1: At Penn State. Oh yeah, kind of loses track of
[13:06] Speaker 1: where he is.
[13:07] Speaker 2: But I thought the passive aggressiveness inevitably would be there
[13:11] Speaker 2: throughout the course of the year. Again, he's sort of
[13:14] Speaker 2: made no bones about the fact he didn't like the
[13:16] Speaker 2: way things went down at the end of his tenure.
[13:18] Speaker 2: I can't say I blame him in that regard, but
[13:21] Speaker 2: never underestimate the ability of a coach, of a proud
[13:25] Speaker 2: coach to show a little bit of passive aggressiveness, whether
[13:30] Speaker 2: it's with regard to the old location that he was coaching,
[13:33] Speaker 2: whether it's in regards to a coaching decision that people
[13:37] Speaker 2: in the media or otherwise question, whether it's just something minute.
[13:41] Speaker 2: These guys, as I think has been previously documented, are
[13:45] Speaker 2: sort of control freaks, and anything that veers from the
[13:48] Speaker 2: norm tends to ruffle some feathers. So I think a
[13:52] Speaker 2: passive aggressive Franklin is what we're going to get this year.
[13:54] Speaker 2: Hopefully on the Virginia Tech side, they get like an
[13:57] Speaker 2: eight and four or nine and three season, That would
[14:01] Speaker 2: be better than any kind of passive aggressive this. But
[14:04] Speaker 2: I think Franklin probably comes out of the gate pretty
[14:08] Speaker 2: good start. Schedule seems advantageous. If we're going to see it,
[14:13] Speaker 2: we're likely going to see it early in the middle
[14:15] Speaker 2: of some sort of I don't know, momentous start to
[14:18] Speaker 2: the year, or we're going to see it later because
[14:20] Speaker 2: the schedule's backloaded and that's when things might come off
[14:23] Speaker 2: the swibble.
[14:24] Speaker 1: I agree, there is definitely the vibe of James Franklin
[14:29] Speaker 1: at any moment, even though he's been out of the
[14:32] Speaker 1: relationship for quite some time now, he's like, oh, I
[14:34] Speaker 1: went with my ex to Portugal, Like, well, don't bring
[14:37] Speaker 1: that up. Now we're at a dinner party. Everything's been
[14:42] Speaker 1: going so well. Yeah, there is that energy to James
[14:45] Speaker 1: Franklin that, hopefully, for the sake of James Franklin and
[14:48] Speaker 1: Virginia Tech fans, he is able to get past it.
[14:50] Speaker 1: So I think at the pawn you're up, Dan, all right,
[14:57] Speaker 1: I'm going with one that I think this is like
[14:59] Speaker 1: an upset. This is the Aaron Rodgers didn't get picked
[15:02] Speaker 1: first overall or in the top five. I think this
[15:04] Speaker 1: is like a shame it's even fallen this far to
[15:06] Speaker 1: the top three. You're able to recite a political ad
[15:10] Speaker 1: that's airing too much verbatim and hate yourself for it.
[15:13] Speaker 1: So not political commentary here, but we do have the
[15:17] Speaker 1: midterms this fall correct, correct, It does seem like a
[15:20] Speaker 1: contentious time of year. Correct for a lot of people,
[15:24] Speaker 1: that is that is accurate? Yes, there is. There is
[15:27] Speaker 1: going to be something that, like two weeks into the season,
[15:31] Speaker 1: we're all going to agree that we would spend one
[15:32] Speaker 1: hundred dollars to put a special tier of YouTube TV
[15:36] Speaker 1: in place that would just filter the political ads out
[15:40] Speaker 1: of I'm not saying politics aren't important. I'm not saying
[15:42] Speaker 1: government's not important. I'm saying the political ads that run
[15:45] Speaker 1: over and over and over again, especially if you're in
[15:49] Speaker 1: like Pennsylvania, say right that, like it's a purple state
[15:52] Speaker 1: and there's just a lot of emotion surrounding elections that
[15:58] Speaker 1: you're just going to be able to like mouth Alow
[16:00] Speaker 1: along with Tricia Clark says sourdough is too ethnic for Pennsylvania,
[16:05] Speaker 1: you know that kind of stuff. So we are we
[16:10] Speaker 1: are slowly going to be driven insane, and so being
[16:12] Speaker 1: driven insane by political ads during college football games is
[16:17] Speaker 1: my third overall pick in an election year.
[16:20] Speaker 2: So there were two other directions I thought maybe we
[16:23] Speaker 2: could go with this, Oh okay. The first was a
[16:29] Speaker 2: politician trying to use college football as some sort of
[16:34] Speaker 2: campaign boost and then immediately.
[16:36] Speaker 1: Screwing up one of the references.
[16:38] Speaker 2: Oh sure, and like I would say the Mount rushmore
[16:42] Speaker 2: of this is was it Ted Kennedy back in the
[16:45] Speaker 2: day with the Sammy Seusser and Mike McGuire moment during
[16:48] Speaker 2: the chase.
[16:49] Speaker 1: We had an Iowa one recently. We did because I
[16:53] Speaker 1: was obviously, you know, with the presidential election as a
[16:56] Speaker 1: hotly contested battleground primary types. Yeah, so there's that whole
[17:02] Speaker 1: side of it.
[17:03] Speaker 2: I also thought of, like the political figure jinxing a
[17:08] Speaker 2: college football team, which is also something that we could
[17:10] Speaker 2: see because inevitably there will be an attempt at photo
[17:14] Speaker 2: ops using college football as a photo op to show.
[17:17] Speaker 1: That you're really with the boys of the home school.
[17:20] Speaker 2: So, but that being said, I do think the political
[17:24] Speaker 2: ads is something that's going to attack a lot of
[17:28] Speaker 2: us here just because it's the mid terms, but also
[17:30] Speaker 2: because of the streaming nature of television right now. Right,
[17:34] Speaker 2: I don't know about you. I get ads from all
[17:36] Speaker 2: sorts of places that I don't live. Oh yeah, absolutely
[17:40] Speaker 2: so do I like I'm getting I got I think
[17:43] Speaker 2: last time around, I was getting ads for like the
[17:45] Speaker 2: greater Chicago area, and I don't know if it's because somehow,
[17:48] Speaker 2: like Google knows that you and I work together.
[17:50] Speaker 1: What it is, I assume.
[17:52] Speaker 2: Yeah, But inevitably you're going to get ads from other
[17:54] Speaker 2: states that you have no business voting in, and that
[17:59] Speaker 2: only adds insult the injury. It's bad enough to get
[18:01] Speaker 2: the ones in your local district, it's even worse if
[18:04] Speaker 2: you're getting ones from states that you have nothing to
[18:07] Speaker 2: do with.
[18:07] Speaker 1: Yeah, like, well, I I can see that things are
[18:10] Speaker 1: running hot in Montana. There's not much I can do
[18:12] Speaker 1: to weigh in with the electoral process. With the election process,
[18:16] Speaker 1: so yeah, I uh, I can't I can't wait to
[18:19] Speaker 1: change channels during political ads. It is going to be
[18:23] Speaker 1: in sufferable.
[18:25] Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree, insufferable, and it's going to start right
[18:29] Speaker 2: out of the shoot.
[18:30] Speaker 1: Mhm. We well, we're going to start dealing with it.
[18:33] Speaker 1: Tricia Clark the worst that was the name I made up?
[18:36] Speaker 1: What did I say? Tricia Clark says sourdoughs to ethnic
[18:38] Speaker 1: for Pennsylvania. Right, I don't know what any of those
[18:41] Speaker 1: words mean.
[18:41] Speaker 2: All right, my turn, Yes, Dan Rubinstein, are you aware
[18:48] Speaker 2: of this ongoing promotion out at Akron?
[18:53] Speaker 1: Oh? Yeah, I the offensive coordinator. There's a raffle. There
[18:57] Speaker 1: is a Raffle. They are Joe Morehead is involve.
[19:00] Speaker 2: Yes, they are apparently giving away to one lucky person,
[19:04] Speaker 2: one lucky season ticket holder, the opportunity to help design
[19:09] Speaker 2: the opening drive.
[19:11] Speaker 1: So this is call it in the moment or game
[19:13] Speaker 1: plan ahead of time that I don't know. It's unclear, okay, clear.
[19:18] Speaker 2: But at least among the nine finalists that have been
[19:21] Speaker 2: publicly revealed, one of them is Big Cat from over
[19:24] Speaker 2: at Barstool Pardoner take saw that. The other is as
[19:28] Speaker 2: people who play the video game know, a video game
[19:32] Speaker 2: influencer of sorts sporteo. Okay, as I understand it, there
[19:36] Speaker 2: is still one that is yet to be revealed. But
[19:38] Speaker 2: whoever wins that promotion is going to get the opportunity to,
[19:42] Speaker 2: as they have said, design the opening drive.
[19:45] Speaker 1: Correct.
[19:45] Speaker 2: Yeah, this has always been like the fever dream of
[19:49] Speaker 2: dorks like us.
[19:51] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[19:52] Speaker 2: So the fact that they're doing it a probably means
[19:55] Speaker 2: that they're trying and drum up a little bit of
[19:57] Speaker 2: support for the Akron Zips.
[19:58] Speaker 1: Okay, great? Why not great? I want to draft Akron.
[20:01] Speaker 2: Scoring on their first promotional drive of the season. I
[20:05] Speaker 2: like this a lot, TI because it gives us something
[20:08] Speaker 2: root for you You'll notice as we go through all
[20:10] Speaker 2: of these, we're not necessarily calling out things that we
[20:13] Speaker 2: want to root against teams.
[20:14] Speaker 1: We're not root for people to get hurt or anything crazy.
[20:17] Speaker 2: Sometimes, definitely the broadcast mistakes are fun to root for, yes, definitely.
[20:21] Speaker 2: Other than that, generally we're rooting four teams, not against them.
[20:25] Speaker 2: And I just feel like Akron has been kind of
[20:27] Speaker 2: down on its luck as a football program for a
[20:29] Speaker 2: good long time now. The fact that they are drumming
[20:32] Speaker 2: up support like this at all is probably an indicator
[20:35] Speaker 2: of that. But I love this idea and I just
[20:38] Speaker 2: want to root like hell for them to score points.
[20:40] Speaker 1: Well. You know what the problem is though, because I
[20:42] Speaker 1: think Joe moorehead is the offensive coordinator as well as
[20:46] Speaker 1: the head coach, correct right, I believe, so that's what
[20:49] Speaker 1: I'm seeing on their websites. The problem then is if
[20:52] Speaker 1: they score on that opening drive, and they score like
[20:56] Speaker 1: in an efficient way, who do they have Week one?
[20:58] Speaker 1: Who does Akron play Week one?
[21:00] Speaker 2: Actually this is for week two, their home opener against
[21:03] Speaker 2: Robert Morris.
[21:05] Speaker 1: If they come out and they just slice and dice,
[21:09] Speaker 1: then there's going to be an uproar of like, what
[21:11] Speaker 1: are we paying you for some more ahead.
[21:13] Speaker 2: Yeah, then big Cat's going to have a decision to make. Right,
[21:16] Speaker 2: what exactly would you say you do here? Do you
[21:18] Speaker 2: stick with PMT or do you become new OC.
[21:21] Speaker 1: Right, that's the problem. Now I'm rooting for it. That
[21:25] Speaker 1: game now becomes or at least that drive becomes must watch.
[21:29] Speaker 1: What play would you call?
[21:30] Speaker 2: Because my concern is that if it were me, my
[21:35] Speaker 2: concern is, well, I'm only ever going to get this
[21:37] Speaker 2: opportunity once unless it goes really well to your point,
[21:40] Speaker 2: but in all likelihood this is a one time deal.
[21:44] Speaker 2: There is definitely going to be an inclination to try
[21:46] Speaker 2: and call like the quirkiest play possible.
[21:49] Speaker 1: Just leave your stamp, Yeah, left your stamp on things.
[21:52] Speaker 2: So yes, whereas it might make more sense to be
[21:55] Speaker 2: a little conservative, run the football kind of build into
[21:58] Speaker 2: the game. If it were me, I'd want to call
[22:01] Speaker 2: like a flea flicker or reverse just something of that
[22:03] Speaker 2: nature right out of the chuot, just to see if
[22:05] Speaker 2: we can, like you know, jold something lose.
[22:09] Speaker 1: Yeah, you got to you got to figure out some
[22:11] Speaker 1: way to have a shot built into the game plan
[22:14] Speaker 1: and that drive, right, you want that shot? I would
[22:17] Speaker 1: do fake orbit motion. I always feel like I enjoy
[22:20] Speaker 1: watching like just from an esthetic standpoint, the fake, like
[22:24] Speaker 1: the orbit motion is real, right, but the fake where
[22:27] Speaker 1: like the quarterback pseudo turns his back to the defensive
[22:30] Speaker 1: line and take a shot or at least an intermediate
[22:33] Speaker 1: look because you'll have, you know, perhaps some linebackers sucking in.
[22:37] Speaker 1: That would be my signature move in my opening drive.
[22:40] Speaker 1: Orbit motion fake.
[22:42] Speaker 2: I do like some good orbit motion. What you're basically
[22:44] Speaker 2: describing is andy Kolniki. We'll probably see that to some
[22:48] Speaker 2: extent at Kansas's here.
[22:50] Speaker 1: So basically, if you even knowing that they're ready for
[22:54] Speaker 1: a trick play, you design something with the Akron coaching
[22:57] Speaker 1: staff that's so perfect and so fool proof in a
[23:02] Speaker 1: shot way, and you score on the first play of
[23:06] Speaker 1: the game, right that it just the clouds break perfectly
[23:10] Speaker 1: and it's a perfect situation. Score immediately, and you have
[23:15] Speaker 1: called one college play and you're hitting one thousand in
[23:20] Speaker 1: terms of scoring touchdowns. It's the most legendary possible outcome.
[23:26] Speaker 1: All right, you're up, all right with my next fantasy
[23:33] Speaker 1: things pick. I'm going to select a rugby style punter
[23:37] Speaker 1: says screw it and keeps running. You talk about using
[23:42] Speaker 1: orbit motion as a fake where the quarterback kind of
[23:44] Speaker 1: turns his back, puts the ball the small of his
[23:47] Speaker 1: back before chucking it downfield. Just from a purely esthetically
[23:53] Speaker 1: pleasing moment, I don't know if I love anything more
[23:59] Speaker 1: than the uh, the punt coverage team or the punt
[24:04] Speaker 1: return team. Excuse me, Like, all right, well he's gonna
[24:07] Speaker 1: kick it. Now, we're turning our back to you know,
[24:09] Speaker 1: start blocking for the return, and the punter's like, well,
[24:12] Speaker 1: I guess there's three yards to be had.
[24:15] Speaker 2: I love that so much, and it feels like this
[24:17] Speaker 2: happens every Saturday.
[24:19] Speaker 1: Has to be Rugby style. Cannot be a clear fake
[24:23] Speaker 1: punt on a normal formation. It has to be a
[24:25] Speaker 1: rugby style in which the punter is empowered that if
[24:28] Speaker 1: you see nothing but grass, you have the ability to
[24:31] Speaker 1: keep going.
[24:33] Speaker 2: What would be the downside to getting like a former
[24:35] Speaker 2: track athlete in there as your punter just for situations
[24:39] Speaker 2: like this.
[24:40] Speaker 1: I mean, it would make it very obvious that you're
[24:43] Speaker 1: gonna be calling fake punts all the time.
[24:45] Speaker 2: But I'm saying, like, there has to be some crossover.
[24:47] Speaker 2: We're talking about high level athletes. If you're talking about
[24:51] Speaker 2: world class track and field stars. Right, there has to
[24:54] Speaker 2: be some crossover between people who can run a four
[24:57] Speaker 2: to four and people who can also kick a ball,
[25:02] Speaker 2: you know, with relative efficiency down the field. I'm not
[25:05] Speaker 2: talking about Reggie Robi out there, but I'm talking about
[25:09] Speaker 2: like just somebody who can be sufficient as a punter.
[25:12] Speaker 1: Maybe you've got a long punter and you've got a short.
[25:14] Speaker 2: Punter, right, just depending on how far you're trying to
[25:17] Speaker 2: kick the ball. I feel like there's room to grow
[25:19] Speaker 2: on that front because it's open. I feel like it's
[25:22] Speaker 2: open every week I watch these games.
[25:24] Speaker 1: I think you're short changing the skill it takes to
[25:27] Speaker 1: be an excellent punter.
[25:28] Speaker 2: I'm sure, I am. I'm sure I am. But wouldn't
[25:31] Speaker 2: you rather get the first down?
[25:33] Speaker 1: I would rather get the first down. I would love
[25:35] Speaker 1: to have the most inventive special teams unit in all
[25:39] Speaker 1: of college football. But this is also like a little
[25:43] Speaker 1: bit of Yes, he is an amazing thrower of the javelin,
[25:49] Speaker 1: but what if? What if he was also a nose tackle?
[25:54] Speaker 1: Right right? That these are they're very specific disciplines to
[25:58] Speaker 1: be able to run a four to four and punt
[26:00] Speaker 1: it into the coffin corner. This is true so I
[26:03] Speaker 1: think what you're probably best Your best bet is taking
[26:07] Speaker 1: the punter you have and putting them. I mean, you
[26:11] Speaker 1: don't want to risk it right, you know, screw it
[26:13] Speaker 1: up a hamstring or something, putting them in an off
[26:15] Speaker 1: season speed program. You don't need a four to four.
[26:18] Speaker 1: You just need to get to the sticks. So taking
[26:21] Speaker 1: a punter who runs a five to three and getting
[26:22] Speaker 1: them to a four to nine, I feel like it's
[26:25] Speaker 1: probably a pretty big win. Okay, So which picks do
[26:28] Speaker 1: you have so far? So far, I have I think
[26:32] Speaker 1: political ads. I have ai AI coaching advice jokingly after
[26:37] Speaker 1: getting embarrassed and then a rugby style punter says screw
[26:41] Speaker 1: it and keeps running.
[26:42] Speaker 2: And I've got a passive aggressive James Franklin and Akron
[26:45] Speaker 2: scoring on their first drive promotion.
[26:47] Speaker 1: I'm up for my third pick, Please take it.
[26:53] Speaker 2: While we're speaking of things in the MAC, Okay, there
[26:58] Speaker 2: is potentially a very uncomfortable situation that's going to occur
[27:02] Speaker 2: on college game day a little bit later on this.
[27:04] Speaker 1: Year game day.
[27:05] Speaker 2: Walk me through what you're seeing, as you know there
[27:08] Speaker 2: are are is a new situation in the MAC. This
[27:11] Speaker 2: year got new teams right and you left they went
[27:14] Speaker 2: to the Mountain West. Sacramento State, a traditional MAC team
[27:19] Speaker 2: now joining the conference officially. Yeah, we've talked a lot
[27:22] Speaker 2: about this in the run up to the season, especially
[27:25] Speaker 2: after this latest batch of minor conference realignment became a thing.
[27:30] Speaker 2: There's gonna be a little game between ball State and
[27:32] Speaker 2: Sacramento State.
[27:35] Speaker 1: I've got here.
[27:37] Speaker 2: The game day set falls silent after Pat McAfee extoles
[27:41] Speaker 2: the virtues of the ball sack game.
[27:43] Speaker 1: Oh, first of all, you know it won't fall silent.
[27:46] Speaker 1: You know Desmond Howard is going to absolutely lose his mind.
[27:50] Speaker 1: Desmond Howard, love him, don't care for him. I happen
[27:54] Speaker 1: to like him a lot. He will sell your joke.
[27:57] Speaker 1: He will one sell a goof if he has the
[28:01] Speaker 1: spidey sense that a goof has been put out into
[28:03] Speaker 1: the universe. On the game day set. Like a good
[28:06] Speaker 1: teammate that he is, he will sell your goof.
[28:10] Speaker 2: There is nobody else on this set that is willing
[28:12] Speaker 2: to touch the specific phrasing of the ballsack game. And
[28:17] Speaker 2: you can love Pat McAfee, you can hate Pat McAfee.
[28:20] Speaker 2: You can believe Pat McAfee is wildly over exposed. She
[28:24] Speaker 2: can you can be like his ESPN comrades and may.
[28:27] Speaker 1: Disagree on I want more McAfee. Sure, I want him
[28:30] Speaker 1: hosting Wheel of Fortune.
[28:33] Speaker 2: I mean, he might be doing the Super Bowl halftime
[28:35] Speaker 2: show at this rate, but.
[28:36] Speaker 1: I want him singing national anthems multiple times a week.
[28:40] Speaker 1: Baseball games, NBA, WNBA, various college sports that don't usually
[28:46] Speaker 1: have a singer brought in for the national anthem. McAfee
[28:50] Speaker 1: at up.
[28:51] Speaker 2: Whatever your opinion of Pat McAfee, there is no one
[28:55] Speaker 2: else on that set who is going to sell the
[28:57] Speaker 2: ballsack game quite like Pat McAfee. Is virtually no stopping
[29:01] Speaker 2: him from doing so, especially given the fact that ESPN
[29:04] Speaker 2: is putting him on all the time. He is the
[29:07] Speaker 2: mascot for ESPN at present. So it's gonna get a
[29:11] Speaker 2: little weird when he brings this up and not only
[29:14] Speaker 2: brings it up, but celebrates it before the live audience,
[29:18] Speaker 2: the live crowd that's going to be loving it because
[29:20] Speaker 2: they're all eighteen to twenty two year olds, nothing like that,
[29:23] Speaker 2: and then a bunch of older gentlemen on set not
[29:26] Speaker 2: knowing how to react.
[29:28] Speaker 1: All Right, I have some good news and bad news, tie. Okay,
[29:33] Speaker 1: the good news is there is a testicular cancer Awareness Month. Okay,
[29:38] Speaker 1: the bad news is it's April. We got to figure
[29:41] Speaker 1: out how to get the testing people in on this matchup.
[29:47] Speaker 1: Are there testy people that were I mean, whoever is?
[29:50] Speaker 2: Yeah?
[29:50] Speaker 1: Of course, there's researchers, there's organizations raising money.
[29:54] Speaker 2: I'm sure is there an American Foundation of Urologists or something?
[29:58] Speaker 1: I am positive there is. TI we have to steer
[30:01] Speaker 1: into this for good, for good reasons. Okay, that's all.
[30:06] Speaker 1: That's all I'm suggesting here April. I wonder how they
[30:09] Speaker 1: landed on that.
[30:09] Speaker 2: Okay, you know this is going to happen. This isn't
[30:14] Speaker 2: at all a stretch. This is one thousand percent going
[30:17] Speaker 2: to happen. And so I just want to put people
[30:20] Speaker 2: get it on your radar so that when October the
[30:23] Speaker 2: twenty fourth comes around, you.
[30:25] Speaker 1: Know, do you think do you think that it would
[30:30] Speaker 1: cost us an exorbitant amount of money to sponsor a
[30:34] Speaker 1: ball sack trophy? I don't. I don't even know if
[30:38] Speaker 1: these trophies have sponsors. Could we produce a trophy? Could
[30:42] Speaker 1: you do we have the budget? No? I can already
[30:44] Speaker 1: tell you the answer is absolutely no. We definitely do
[30:46] Speaker 1: not have the budget. Could we cajole a trophy company
[30:51] Speaker 1: to get a little bit of free buzz on the
[30:54] Speaker 1: solid verbal in exchange for making a ballsack trophy for
[30:58] Speaker 1: this matchup. Soli Verba Gmail dot com. Hit us up
[31:04] Speaker 1: exactly right.
[31:05] Speaker 2: If you're a trophy company, if you're on Etsy, I
[31:07] Speaker 2: don't know it needs a trophy? It does would it
[31:11] Speaker 2: be a trophy?
[31:12] Speaker 1: I'm I'm open to all different possibilities here.
[31:15] Speaker 2: I'm assuming it looks like truck nuts. That's sort of
[31:18] Speaker 2: my vision for what the trophy looks like.
[31:20] Speaker 1: But I agree, But we're not really highlighting the balls
[31:24] Speaker 1: in this situation, right right, I feel like we're highlighting
[31:27] Speaker 1: the sack. So is there like a bag? Is there
[31:32] Speaker 1: a bronzed bag? I'm sort of at a loss for words.
[31:38] Speaker 1: I'm not gonna lie to you know where to go
[31:40] Speaker 1: with this? Next ty? I can give you some explanations
[31:43] Speaker 1: physiologically about what we're talking about. I'm sure you can't.
[31:47] Speaker 1: All right, why don't you just make your pick?
[31:50] Speaker 2: Here?
[31:51] Speaker 1: You ty, you pick one.
[31:53] Speaker 2: Just be ready for that because he's gonna, you know,
[31:55] Speaker 2: he's gonna do something with that.
[31:57] Speaker 1: All right? I have in here as my next pick
[32:01] Speaker 1: wirecam incident. Now, I feel like I've drafted this before.
[32:06] Speaker 1: My brain goes to a certain place all the time.
[32:08] Speaker 1: I also, I have been here like you could. You
[32:10] Speaker 1: should be able to tell me because you're a historian
[32:13] Speaker 1: of the fantasy things. I have in here wirecam incident,
[32:18] Speaker 1: and I also have in here announcer stomach disruption. Oh,
[32:22] Speaker 1: I feel like I've I feel like I've drafted these before,
[32:25] Speaker 1: but I can't remember. I'm old and washed. Which do
[32:29] Speaker 1: you think I'm less likely to have drafted in years past?
[32:32] Speaker 2: I don't think you've done the announcer's stomach disruption.
[32:35] Speaker 1: Okay, it's entirely possible. I have, though, you know how
[32:38] Speaker 1: my mind works.
[32:39] Speaker 2: And I don't believe we've had wirecam incident either, because.
[32:42] Speaker 1: We've had wirecam incidents. We have the sport we have,
[32:46] Speaker 1: notably something we've drafted though. Okay, I do love it though.
[32:52] Speaker 1: I love a wirecam incident as long as nobody's getting hurt.
[32:55] Speaker 1: I do love an announcer stomach disruption. Not because I
[32:58] Speaker 1: appreciate the disruption, but I think it humanizes, you know,
[33:02] Speaker 1: the big voice from on high and so like we
[33:05] Speaker 1: all deal with stomach disruptions. Ty, is there a stomach
[33:08] Speaker 1: disruption Awareness Month? Unclear.
[33:11] Speaker 2: I feel like it's been going on the last two
[33:12] Speaker 2: months now, that's true.
[33:14] Speaker 1: But we've seen it in years past. We saw it
[33:17] Speaker 1: with well I thought we saw it with Mac Brown
[33:21] Speaker 1: when we first became friends with Adam Amein, but it
[33:23] Speaker 1: turned out he just had to fly back to New
[33:24] Speaker 1: York in order to do the studio show the next day, right.
[33:27] Speaker 1: But I think we've seen it with We saw it
[33:29] Speaker 1: with the the Kentucky Derby this year, right, yep. We
[33:33] Speaker 1: saw it with a horse racing situation. And I want
[33:36] Speaker 1: to say we saw it with the Fox Booth in
[33:39] Speaker 1: the last couple of years that like Brady Quinn had
[33:42] Speaker 1: to step in or somebody stepped in. Who stepped in?
[33:46] Speaker 1: I think it was Brady Quinn, Yeah, Brady Quinn stepped in.
[33:50] Speaker 1: I like it because it's just like, whoa, what's going
[33:53] Speaker 1: on back there? Also because it's not you and it's
[33:56] Speaker 1: not me. But isn't that the whole thing? Like we
[33:59] Speaker 1: talked to Jenny Delle and she talked about brad Nessler
[34:01] Speaker 1: not eating the day of games. Gotta be careful simply
[34:04] Speaker 1: to avoid stomach disruption. I like the wild card that
[34:07] Speaker 1: it throws into a broadcast, all right, my turn play.
[34:14] Speaker 2: I have alternate uniforms make a game virtually unwatchable.
[34:19] Speaker 1: Well, this is like a weird time for you too,
[34:21] Speaker 1: because the Alabama Tennessee announcement, right, yeah, they're doing how
[34:24] Speaker 1: are your eyes going to deal with that color game?
[34:26] Speaker 2: So this might just be me and my weird eyes,
[34:29] Speaker 2: but I have a real hard time distinguishing shades, and
[34:33] Speaker 2: in particular, see, I'm sure we have eye doctors out
[34:35] Speaker 2: there who can explain exactly what's going on with the roget.
[34:38] Speaker 1: Cones here, right.
[34:40] Speaker 2: I also have trouble anytime there's like a deep red
[34:42] Speaker 2: uniform with a green background. And so it used to
[34:46] Speaker 2: be really funny when I'd be playing like video games
[34:50] Speaker 2: with the boys back in the day when I was
[34:52] Speaker 2: younger and full of life and had fewer greats. Right,
[34:56] Speaker 2: whenever it was a situation like that where there was
[34:58] Speaker 2: red uniform field on the screen, those guys looked invisible
[35:02] Speaker 2: to me.
[35:03] Speaker 1: Would those people those people, would they intentionally choose to play? Oh, like,
[35:10] Speaker 1: I guess I'm gonna be Rutgers.
[35:11] Speaker 2: Once they figured it out, Yeah, once they figured it out.
[35:14] Speaker 1: I guess there's a lot of red teams, but who
[35:15] Speaker 1: would have the most red on red uniform.
[35:18] Speaker 2: So so yeah, we've had that. We've also had versions
[35:23] Speaker 2: of like when Oregon has the green on the green
[35:26] Speaker 2: and it sometimes makes it difficult Boise with the blue
[35:29] Speaker 2: and the blue. Like, we see situations like this, but
[35:33] Speaker 2: all uniforms are very much still a rage. My hunch
[35:37] Speaker 2: is that there will be a situation like this because
[35:39] Speaker 2: there is a situation like this virtually every year where
[35:42] Speaker 2: some team comes out there with all uniforms and for
[35:45] Speaker 2: me and my weird eyes, I can't watch it.
[35:47] Speaker 1: It gives me a headache.
[35:48] Speaker 2: But I would say for more normal people out there,
[35:51] Speaker 2: the uniforms are just so damn ugly and they don't
[35:54] Speaker 2: really pop on TV the way you would expect that.
[35:56] Speaker 2: You just decide you don't want to watch that. You
[35:58] Speaker 2: have seven other games going on at this same time.
[36:01] Speaker 2: Why waste your energy on the one where you don't
[36:03] Speaker 2: like what you see?
[36:04] Speaker 1: Right?
[36:05] Speaker 2: So, the all uniform thing, there's two sides to it.
[36:08] Speaker 2: I like the fact that they're getting creative. I like
[36:11] Speaker 2: the fact that they give us something different to look at. Also,
[36:14] Speaker 2: there's a very thin line to walk there, so you
[36:18] Speaker 2: gotta be careful. And I think the all uniform making
[36:21] Speaker 2: a game Unwatchable is going to be sort of my
[36:23] Speaker 2: ace in the rotation this year.
[36:26] Speaker 1: I gotta be honest with you, there have been so
[36:28] Speaker 1: many misses with alt uniforms that I don't look forward
[36:33] Speaker 1: to the debut of a new look all that much.
[36:35] Speaker 1: And I know I'm an Oregon human here, but Oregon
[36:39] Speaker 1: just does the combos thing, and they do do some
[36:41] Speaker 1: alt stuff occasionally, and they do like a breast cancer awareness,
[36:44] Speaker 1: they'll do pink stuff, but a lot of the like
[36:49] Speaker 1: a lot of the goofy alts sort of fall under
[36:53] Speaker 1: my like two q o'clock, like die back a little bit,
[36:56] Speaker 1: like I like this space thing with you, dial it
[36:58] Speaker 1: back a little bit. Like they're like, I never really
[37:01] Speaker 1: loved the Illinois leather helmet thing that they did for
[37:05] Speaker 1: Red Grange Gallop and Ghosts. He's like, Ah, it never
[37:09] Speaker 1: really did it for me. And now everybody's freaking out
[37:11] Speaker 1: and so happy about the the Alabama Tennessee thing where
[37:14] Speaker 1: they're gonna wear red and orange. Right, They're not gonna
[37:17] Speaker 1: nobody's gonna wear white in that game. And I understand
[37:19] Speaker 1: the history of it because it's going back to black
[37:22] Speaker 1: and white TV is an easier way to differentiate teams.
[37:24] Speaker 1: A team is wearing white, a team is wearing, you know,
[37:26] Speaker 1: a darker color. I like watching games with a team
[37:30] Speaker 1: wearing a color and a team wearing white. It's still
[37:32] Speaker 1: easy for me to differentiate, right, red and orange like
[37:36] Speaker 1: UCLA and USC. I kind of get when they've done
[37:38] Speaker 1: that in years past, because it's blue and you know, cardinal,
[37:41] Speaker 1: like they're different enough. Orange and red are not different
[37:44] Speaker 1: enough that same phylum, that's same genus. And I don't
[37:49] Speaker 1: have the rods and cones issue that you have. But
[37:52] Speaker 1: when I see those two teams wearing red and orange
[37:54] Speaker 1: playing against each other, I think it looks mushy. I
[37:57] Speaker 1: don't like it anyway, I'm a thousand years old. That's
[38:01] Speaker 1: the end of my high horse moment.
[38:03] Speaker 2: We could even add in all uniform decisions in the
[38:07] Speaker 2: case of this sure case of the color game.
[38:10] Speaker 1: Yeah you're up.
[38:13] Speaker 2: All right.
[38:17] Speaker 1: So this is another another very exciting one for me,
[38:20] Speaker 1: ty And it's not just because of where I live,
[38:22] Speaker 1: though maybe that has a factor in me selecting this.
[38:26] Speaker 1: We've long talked about monsoon games and snow games. I
[38:30] Speaker 1: think the great underrated game in this sport. Parenthetically, unless
[38:35] Speaker 1: your team is playing in it is an excessively windy game.
[38:39] Speaker 2: Oh, like in the playoff last year, Like in the
[38:41] Speaker 2: playoff last year. That's to SA and M Miami.
[38:44] Speaker 1: If I were an A and M fan, If I
[38:45] Speaker 1: were Miami fan, that was the worst. If I were
[38:48] Speaker 1: at Ohio State fan when they were playing was Northwestern
[38:51] Speaker 1: it was here right when there were crazy swirling winds
[38:53] Speaker 1: and CJ. Stroud threw for like forty one yards in
[38:55] Speaker 1: a game, I would hate it. But from a pure
[38:59] Speaker 1: entertainment standpoint, I don't know why I'm so hung up
[39:02] Speaker 1: on special teams today. Ty a punter punting it into
[39:06] Speaker 1: a wall of wind and it going one and a
[39:09] Speaker 1: half yards net. I kind of love those moments. I
[39:13] Speaker 1: kind of love when there are factors at play, and
[39:16] Speaker 1: I know people will complain that, like, well, that's not
[39:18] Speaker 1: you know, the intention of football. And we had, you know,
[39:21] Speaker 1: people talking about the snow stuff and the weather stuff
[39:23] Speaker 1: with what was that Broncos playoff game this past year. Nope,
[39:27] Speaker 1: that like, oh, these big games should be played in domes,
[39:30] Speaker 1: which I understand that, and I talked about that that
[39:33] Speaker 1: I understood that that, you know, take some of those
[39:36] Speaker 1: elements out of it. But there is something about wind
[39:39] Speaker 1: and a windy punt that I just can't get past
[39:43] Speaker 1: that I love so much. So I'm going to say,
[39:45] Speaker 1: an excessively windy game, comma, unless it involves your team.
[39:49] Speaker 2: Unless it involves your team, Yeah, we don't want that.
[39:52] Speaker 1: Do you appreciate wind or do you hate wind? Oh?
[39:54] Speaker 1: I hate wind. It is the worst.
[39:55] Speaker 2: I'd rather play in rain, I'd rather play in snow. Yeah,
[39:58] Speaker 2: but the wind is just such an X factor. You know,
[40:01] Speaker 2: at least if it's raining, you can kind.
[40:03] Speaker 1: Of deal with that.
[40:03] Speaker 2: And everyone's got to deal with the same type of
[40:06] Speaker 2: rain throughout the course of the game, same deal with snow, right,
[40:09] Speaker 2: But wind, it shifts, it changes sometimes, intensity varies. It
[40:13] Speaker 2: absolutely kills the kicking game. It can kill the passing game.
[40:17] Speaker 2: It just feels like there are bigger ramifications with a
[40:20] Speaker 2: crazy win game then there would be otherwise. And I
[40:23] Speaker 2: think back to the playoff game from a year ago,
[40:25] Speaker 2: and I know, just like speaking for myself here, when
[40:28] Speaker 2: we were trying to put that A and M game
[40:31] Speaker 2: and M against Miami, the ten to three game in
[40:34] Speaker 2: the playoffs, when we were trying to put that game
[40:36] Speaker 2: in context, and then I would say, furthermore, figure out,
[40:41] Speaker 2: what does it mean or what does it indicate for
[40:44] Speaker 2: this coming season. I was almost inclined to throw that
[40:47] Speaker 2: one out the window, you know, like, I know Marcel
[40:49] Speaker 2: Reid didn't have a great game. Also, that win was nuts,
[40:53] Speaker 2: So we need to be careful about how much we
[40:56] Speaker 2: how much weight we put on a game like that,
[40:57] Speaker 2: even though it was a very big deal in the moment,
[41:00] Speaker 2: I just don't know if it's any great indicator of skill.
[41:03] Speaker 1: I totally agree with you. Here's my counter tie. Let's
[41:07] Speaker 1: take take any game from that, Like, is Virginia playing
[41:10] Speaker 1: Pitt this year? I have no idea. Is Virginia playing pit?
[41:13] Speaker 1: You want to fact check for this? Ill fact check? Okay,
[41:16] Speaker 1: take an ACC game, take whatever, a big twelve game,
[41:18] Speaker 1: Take an SEC, any game where you don't have a
[41:20] Speaker 1: rooting or financial interest or something. Virginia does not play
[41:23] Speaker 1: Pitt this year. Okay, give me a random like, who
[41:25] Speaker 1: does Virginia play in late October?
[41:27] Speaker 2: In late October, Virginia plays Let's see here, Yeah, they've
[41:32] Speaker 2: got a game again.
[41:34] Speaker 1: I don't know why we're picking on Virginia, but Duke. Okay,
[41:38] Speaker 1: Virginia Duke a rematch of the a SEC championship game.
[41:42] Speaker 1: Let's say Bo Pribula is under center or he's whatever,
[41:46] Speaker 1: he's it's a pitch play and he pitches it, and
[41:50] Speaker 1: the exact moment he pitches it, a gust of wins
[41:54] Speaker 1: takes it. And that doesn't just take it. It's Bo
[41:57] Speaker 1: Prebula in the red zone for Virginia, right. It doesn't
[42:01] Speaker 1: just take it. It takes it all the way to
[42:03] Speaker 1: the other end of the field, like it's just rolling. Comically. Okay,
[42:07] Speaker 1: this is one in a billion. Yeah, okay, this is
[42:11] Speaker 1: You could not dial it up better. But the ball
[42:14] Speaker 1: is rolling, the wind is pushing it right down the
[42:16] Speaker 1: middle of Broadway, right down the middle of the field,
[42:19] Speaker 1: and all of the sudden you have twenty Virginia and
[42:24] Speaker 1: Duke players racing eighty yards to scoop up either a
[42:29] Speaker 1: touchdown or just maintain possession. It would be the single
[42:33] Speaker 1: most captivating moment of the season, wouldn't it. I think so,
[42:38] Speaker 1: Like a literal race to get a ball eighty yards away. Yeah,
[42:41] Speaker 1: it would be the single most captivating moment of the season.
[42:44] Speaker 1: A win game, excessively windy game, yeah, high ceiling local,
[42:54] Speaker 1: I'm going to take crowd shots of Anthony Beck. This
[42:58] Speaker 1: is a very specific one. It is. It feels to
[43:01] Speaker 1: me like there are some.
[43:03] Speaker 2: Parents that, for whatever reason, gets shown a little bit
[43:06] Speaker 2: more than others. And I know just from watching a
[43:11] Speaker 2: collection of Iowa State games that it seems as though
[43:14] Speaker 2: they like showing rock O Beck's dad, former NFL offensive lineman,
[43:18] Speaker 2: Anthony Beck, they like showing him a lot, yeah, up
[43:21] Speaker 2: in the stands. And now as he moves to a
[43:24] Speaker 2: new team and seemingly is going to be the leader
[43:27] Speaker 2: of that offense, they will inevitably show Anthony Beck one
[43:31] Speaker 2: more time, not a thousand more times yeah, this coming season.
[43:38] Speaker 2: And I just found it funny singling out one single
[43:43] Speaker 2: parent that I believe they're going.
[43:45] Speaker 1: To show more than the rest.
[43:46] Speaker 2: And I think Anthony Beck probably has a claim to
[43:49] Speaker 2: that throne this year. Now, there are obviously other options.
[43:52] Speaker 2: I was going to say, like Cooper Manning would probably
[43:56] Speaker 2: like a word.
[43:56] Speaker 1: I was Cooper Manning, And how about Cooper Manning headwear
[44:00] Speaker 1: not afraid to adorn?
[44:02] Speaker 2: No, So Cooper Manning probably in this camp we could
[44:06] Speaker 2: go through. We could probably list off a dozen other
[44:09] Speaker 2: quarterbacks that probably also fall into this category. But I
[44:15] Speaker 2: kind of hope that someone out there keeps track of
[44:18] Speaker 2: these crowdshots and proves me right by the end of
[44:22] Speaker 2: the season.
[44:22] Speaker 1: I have no idea how you'd ever.
[44:24] Speaker 2: Do it, right, But crowdshots of Anthony beckt I think
[44:29] Speaker 2: is going to be something worth getting in on now,
[44:30] Speaker 2: because especially if he has a good campaign now that
[44:34] Speaker 2: he's back and healthy and excited to be a Penn
[44:36] Speaker 2: State taking one online class, I believe focusing on his football, which.
[44:41] Speaker 1: Is exactly the way we want.
[44:42] Speaker 2: It should be a good year provided to stays healthy
[44:45] Speaker 2: and they're gonna show a lot Anthony Beck.
[44:48] Speaker 1: I'll stick with you there, just in terms of crowdshots.
[44:52] Speaker 1: And we talked about Cooper Manning for my next pick,
[44:55] Speaker 1: but there you go. But a new understated arch Manning
[45:01] Speaker 1: commercial with gravatans no matter the brands. What does this mean?
[45:05] Speaker 1: What does this mean? Well, there's just something about arch
[45:09] Speaker 1: Manning and he's not going crazy. He's you know, he
[45:13] Speaker 1: keeps his his profile relatively low. But like he's here
[45:15] Speaker 1: to tell you about Viory.
[45:16] Speaker 2: So what do we Last year we had Warby Parker
[45:19] Speaker 2: and we had Vori and.
[45:21] Speaker 1: I think he was also like doing commercials for the
[45:24] Speaker 1: NCAA or EA college football too, right, I believe, So yeah, yeah,
[45:30] Speaker 1: he like kind of held out that he wasn't going
[45:31] Speaker 1: to have his name, image and likeness in it, and
[45:34] Speaker 1: it was all kind of a ploy, it seemed, because
[45:36] Speaker 1: eventually he was like, not only am I in it?
[45:37] Speaker 1: On the face of it, right, I don't know why.
[45:40] Speaker 1: It just sounded like what's his name? From the Andy
[45:43] Speaker 1: Griffiths Show.
[45:44] Speaker 2: There will inevitably be another arch Manning commercial.
[45:47] Speaker 1: He'll do it for if the check clears, but like,
[45:50] Speaker 1: I want him to do it for something that he's
[45:54] Speaker 1: really going to have to be chill, Like is he
[45:57] Speaker 1: gonna do he won't do gambling? Right? No, No, I
[46:00] Speaker 1: think that's under Like, I don't think there's any wagering.
[46:02] Speaker 1: I don't know if you can do alcohol as part
[46:04] Speaker 1: of nil stuff? Could Could arch Manning be very chill?
[46:11] Speaker 1: Could he be very straightforward, very matter of fact when
[46:16] Speaker 1: talking about blue Choo? What if they paid him premium?
[46:25] Speaker 1: You know, On the field, I've got I've got a
[46:27] Speaker 1: lot of concerns, but when I'm off the field, I
[46:30] Speaker 1: don't want to be concerned about anything, especially at my
[46:33] Speaker 1: own private time. Yeah, I'm March Manning and I'm here
[46:35] Speaker 1: to talk to you about Blue Choo. No, that's probably
[46:39] Speaker 1: he probably is saying thank you, but no thank you
[46:41] Speaker 1: to the fine folks.
[46:42] Speaker 2: I'm assuming he's got some reps that. I mean, he's
[46:45] Speaker 2: been very understated. He barely did interviews his first couple
[46:48] Speaker 2: of years on campus. I think they very closely guarded
[46:53] Speaker 2: access to Arch Manning and the way that Arch was portrayed.
[46:57] Speaker 2: And I think actually it was probably the right because
[47:00] Speaker 2: he came in there sure as one of the highest
[47:03] Speaker 2: profile college football players, not just in Texas but throughout
[47:06] Speaker 2: the sport, and they were trying to give him a
[47:08] Speaker 2: chance to ease into and we saw last year right.
[47:11] Speaker 1: First, really full time starter.
[47:12] Speaker 2: It took a minute for him to actually ease into
[47:14] Speaker 2: it and then get better in the latter half of the year.
[47:16] Speaker 2: So I don't fault anyone for doing that, but I'm
[47:19] Speaker 2: assuming that there is a whole mechanism around Arch Manning
[47:21] Speaker 2: that kind of keeps him insulated to the extent that
[47:24] Speaker 2: he's been.
[47:25] Speaker 1: Or don't forget though, everybody's got a price. Continue, Okay,
[47:29] Speaker 1: next pick, next pick, where's it at.
[47:34] Speaker 2: I've got an sec wonk citing draft picks in a
[47:39] Speaker 2: college football playoff argument. Oh I like this, Yeah, so
[47:43] Speaker 2: this is up there with the SEC gauntlet. Okay, I
[47:46] Speaker 2: mean SEC gauntlet is that like a no brainer? I
[47:48] Speaker 2: could have taken that first overall and won this whole draft.
[47:51] Speaker 2: SEC gauntlet is like the free space in the middle
[47:53] Speaker 2: of the bingo card.
[47:54] Speaker 1: Yeah, we I purposely left it off mine. I think
[47:58] Speaker 1: you left it off yours as well. But this is something.
[48:02] Speaker 2: This is like a new category of argument pro SEC
[48:08] Speaker 2: argument that has bubbled up over these last couple of years.
[48:11] Speaker 2: What it involves is not teams records, not strength of schedule.
[48:17] Speaker 2: This is an argument that revolves around how many draft
[48:20] Speaker 2: picks the SEC places in the NFL. And the argument
[48:24] Speaker 2: goes something like, well, it's a tough league. We know that, well,
[48:29] Speaker 2: we know what the record is, but did you know
[48:33] Speaker 2: that the SEC had fifteen first round draft picks in
[48:37] Speaker 2: the draft class of twenty twenty six. And that's the
[48:42] Speaker 2: argument for bat the whole thing, that's the argument for
[48:45] Speaker 2: putting the other SEC team in the playoff.
[48:47] Speaker 1: Yeah, the SEC is.
[48:49] Speaker 2: A great conference, one of, if not the best. There's
[48:53] Speaker 2: not much debate on that. But I feel like I
[48:56] Speaker 2: have seen this argument pop up more and more in
[48:58] Speaker 2: recent years, and you really got to twist your brand
[49:02] Speaker 2: in a pretzel to understand how it applies.
[49:05] Speaker 1: The draft pick thing is great. The I don't want
[49:09] Speaker 1: to get this wrong, but my brain tells me it
[49:12] Speaker 1: was Jim Naggy, formerly of the Senior Bowl and he's
[49:13] Speaker 1: now the Oklahoma Yes, when he was talking about how
[49:17] Speaker 1: NFL scouts should have a hand in selecting the college
[49:20] Speaker 1: football playoff teams based on the number of NFL prospects
[49:23] Speaker 1: on the roster, right, Like, I love that take so much.
[49:29] Speaker 1: And then I think we've had Nick Saban talking about,
[49:32] Speaker 1: like Vegas should have a role in selecting, you know,
[49:36] Speaker 1: the playoff teams because they set odds to figure out,
[49:41] Speaker 1: they set lines to figure out how we can get
[49:44] Speaker 1: you know, the same number of people and the same
[49:45] Speaker 1: amount of money on both sides of a wager.
[49:48] Speaker 2: That's sort of like the old I think it was
[49:50] Speaker 2: Colin Coward and made an argument like s back in
[49:52] Speaker 2: the Vegas He's always been plugged.
[49:54] Speaker 1: Into on the Vegas side. Yeah, it looks like Vegas
[49:57] Speaker 1: is in charge now once again. So h yeah, the
[50:00] Speaker 1: draft pick things is the funniest thing in the world.
[50:02] Speaker 1: So yeah, I mean, look, you can do sec Gauntlet,
[50:05] Speaker 1: you can do draft picks, you know, whatever it is.
[50:08] Speaker 1: I'm old fashioned in the like winning games thing seems
[50:11] Speaker 1: to be a good way to determine which conference isn't
[50:14] Speaker 1: a better place. But yeah, the SEC going to nine
[50:16] Speaker 1: games this year is going to be all over the place,
[50:20] Speaker 1: one or two more each. Let's do it. What do
[50:25] Speaker 1: you got for me? Folk? Hero backup quarterback? Once again?
[50:29] Speaker 1: Last year we had Trinidad Chambliss right right, just absolute
[50:33] Speaker 1: stud all time, ole miss legend.
[50:35] Speaker 2: Are you treading a little too close to your old school?
[50:40] Speaker 2: The backup is better than the starter?
[50:41] Speaker 1: No draft pick, because I'm not just saying the backup
[50:44] Speaker 1: is better than the starter. I'm saying a starter gets hurt.
[50:47] Speaker 1: I'm saying there's some unfortunate situation in which the starter
[50:50] Speaker 1: can't go, or the starter is just benched, whatever it is.
[50:53] Speaker 1: But it's not only is the backup coming in and
[50:56] Speaker 1: is better than the starter, but like becomes an absolute
[50:59] Speaker 1: legend for that program, like takes them to new heights
[51:03] Speaker 1: or out of nowhere. Nobody figured Bird Ficklin at Utah
[51:07] Speaker 1: or Tavian Saint Clair in Ohio State or any of
[51:09] Speaker 1: these guys could come in and make an immediate difference
[51:13] Speaker 1: and then suddenly, oh this guy's a legend and we
[51:15] Speaker 1: have good candidates, right, because there's so many quarterbacks back,
[51:18] Speaker 1: and you know it's financially reasonable to come back to
[51:21] Speaker 1: college even if you have NFL interest. So like, I
[51:25] Speaker 1: guess it'd be Dean Royol at Oregon, Keishawn Henderson at
[51:28] Speaker 1: Houston that I think he's the highest ranked recruit in
[51:31] Speaker 1: the history. I know what Ed Oliver was, but he's
[51:34] Speaker 1: definitely the highest ranked quarterback I believe in the history
[51:36] Speaker 1: of the program to join the Cougars. So you know,
[51:40] Speaker 1: Connor Wigman's been injury prone at times, I would say
[51:43] Speaker 1: is a fair statement to make. Yeah, somebody coming in
[51:48] Speaker 1: and essentially leading their team at least to the verge
[51:51] Speaker 1: of the College Football Playoff as a backup quarterback. I
[51:54] Speaker 1: like this. I want it. I love a good folk
[51:57] Speaker 1: hero out of nowhere. Okay, here, I've got.
[52:04] Speaker 2: I've got one here that I just called Nick Saban's
[52:06] Speaker 2: high Horse.
[52:07] Speaker 1: Oh this is great too. All season long.
[52:12] Speaker 2: Nick Saban brings a fair amount of gravitas to that
[52:16] Speaker 2: game day set. As someone who's widely regarded as the
[52:20] Speaker 2: best coach in the history of college football. He is
[52:23] Speaker 2: a proponent for the game. He has obviously taken part
[52:27] Speaker 2: in high level discussions, not just with other college football coaches,
[52:32] Speaker 2: but with the government regarding where this thing goes next.
[52:37] Speaker 2: So Nick Saban is much revered, and when you're that revered,
[52:40] Speaker 2: you can kind of say whatever you want. And obviously,
[52:43] Speaker 2: when you're that successful, you've got opinions on most things.
[52:46] Speaker 2: This will inevitably happen a handful of times this year
[52:50] Speaker 2: on the game day set some other kind of live
[52:53] Speaker 2: hit with Nick Saban or Saban's got something he's got
[52:56] Speaker 2: to get off his chest, and whether you like it
[52:58] Speaker 2: or not, you're going to hear it. Nick Saban's high Horse.
[53:01] Speaker 2: I want it on my team.
[53:02] Speaker 1: I mean, that's what he's there for. It's exactly what
[53:05] Speaker 1: he is there for. He is filling the equestrian side
[53:08] Speaker 1: of things. On the game day set. You're up. I
[53:13] Speaker 1: have so much. I think we just need to go
[53:14] Speaker 1: through what we haven't selected. All right, go ahead, there's
[53:17] Speaker 1: so much here. So I mentioned the hand Job cut Away.
[53:20] Speaker 1: I have the phrase, by the way, hand Job cut
[53:24] Speaker 1: Away is playing the Troubadour in two weeks. Very experimental,
[53:28] Speaker 1: but if you're into them, you will be very into them.
[53:32] Speaker 1: Looks like the honeymoon is over for a coach. In
[53:35] Speaker 1: his first year. Things going with Franklin situation would be
[53:38] Speaker 1: another James Franklin situation. I have a new Lane Kiffin
[53:42] Speaker 1: ends up doing old Lane Kiffin stuff, likely in direct
[53:45] Speaker 1: messages to and from like an alpha fee pledge. You
[53:49] Speaker 1: should have drafted this one first. Overall, I know there's
[53:52] Speaker 1: just so many here. I have notre dame Alex to
[53:54] Speaker 1: accept a postseason invite. A TV network uses AI poorly
[53:59] Speaker 1: for grat We've seen that all off season long already. Yeah,
[54:03] Speaker 1: a playoff team is outside of the AP top twenty five.
[54:05] Speaker 1: That's not gonna happen every week, but that you know
[54:07] Speaker 1: can pay off at the end a carriage dispute, like well,
[54:11] Speaker 1: you're not gonna have Fox unless you call up your
[54:13] Speaker 1: local blah blah blah, right, and you're gonna miss out
[54:16] Speaker 1: on the big ten. Yeah. I don't know if those
[54:18] Speaker 1: deals are up or not. I have a special team's trick.
[54:20] Speaker 1: Play goes horribly wrong so we can see the it
[54:24] Speaker 1: was like the old it was a I think a
[54:25] Speaker 1: Miami game where you had the guy faking fainting on
[54:30] Speaker 1: the un punt coverage or I always enjoy like like
[54:35] Speaker 1: a really bad fake field goal, anything along those lines.
[54:38] Speaker 1: I'm good with the debut of a new hairstyle.
[54:40] Speaker 2: Oh man, this is you know, I thought about going
[54:43] Speaker 2: with a coach shaving their head.
[54:45] Speaker 1: So it's either coach or player. And like we saw
[54:48] Speaker 1: it with like Quinn yours right when he when he
[54:51] Speaker 1: cut off the mullet obviously the big one though, the
[54:53] Speaker 1: will he won't he thing is the Avery Johnson hair
[54:56] Speaker 1: right to be like, I just needed a change, I
[54:58] Speaker 1: need a reset. I don't I don't know if he
[55:00] Speaker 1: has done that. And then I have a bunch of
[55:03] Speaker 1: long shots.
[55:03] Speaker 2: Well before I get to the long shots here, we'll
[55:05] Speaker 2: be rar off some of mind because your long shots
[55:06] Speaker 2: are you guys, You've got great ones. I've got the
[55:11] Speaker 2: chain gang gets obliterated. Love that a badly misaligned first
[55:15] Speaker 2: and ten line.
[55:16] Speaker 1: Hate that, but love it.
[55:18] Speaker 2: Brian Kelly attempting to be likable.
[55:21] Speaker 1: That's I mean, that's going to be a reality.
[55:23] Speaker 2: Coach having a public beef with his ad which by
[55:26] Speaker 2: the way, is kind of going on at BYU right now.
[55:29] Speaker 1: That's right, that we're doing more with less.
[55:32] Speaker 2: I have an overly performative EyeBlack situation.
[55:35] Speaker 1: Oh, what's the next step, what's the next level? Of
[55:38] Speaker 1: innovation with iblack.
[55:39] Speaker 2: Analyst refers to a game as a chess match. What
[55:43] Speaker 2: else do I got here?
[55:44] Speaker 1: Oh?
[55:44] Speaker 2: Here, this this one actually I think could be really funny.
[55:47] Speaker 2: A returning player says that college practice is actually tougher
[55:51] Speaker 2: than the NFL.
[55:53] Speaker 1: Oh interesting, okay.
[55:54] Speaker 2: Another fran Brown idiosyncrasy, a curious train regimen.
[56:01] Speaker 1: Like the right tackle says he eats exclusively liver.
[56:04] Speaker 2: That's right, Yeah, that's right. I've got Joey Maguire playing
[56:08] Speaker 2: the victim card. I've got good Dabox tolling the virtues
[56:12] Speaker 2: of the transfer portal.
[56:14] Speaker 1: It's still dabbo. Yeah, still doubt.
[56:16] Speaker 2: A coordinator fired in September. That's probably gonna happen, and
[56:20] Speaker 2: then a two quarterback formation now we're talking.
[56:23] Speaker 1: Yeah, you also have down here dramatic voiceover from a
[56:26] Speaker 1: random celebrity. I can tell you right now it's not
[56:29] Speaker 1: going to be random. It's going to be Brian Cranston,
[56:34] Speaker 1: because Brian Cranston will say yes to your voiceover request.
[56:37] Speaker 2: Well, you know what I mean. You know what I mean, right,
[56:39] Speaker 2: you know what I mean. Like it's it's in advance
[56:41] Speaker 2: of a big game and you hear this voice, it's
[56:43] Speaker 2: like I recognize that voice. I don't know, and then
[56:47] Speaker 2: Chris Fowler comes back on the screens like special shout
[56:50] Speaker 2: out to Paul Rudd for giving us that voiceover, Like,
[56:52] Speaker 2: what's talking about the border lineup?
[56:55] Speaker 1: But yeah, well the border war at least makes sense.
[56:57] Speaker 1: I think he's from uh can't City. Sure, Yeah, I
[57:02] Speaker 1: think that's a great one. Always just is going to
[57:05] Speaker 1: be Brian Cranston. Okay, so these are my penny stocks, right,
[57:08] Speaker 1: these are not going to happen. But if you feel
[57:11] Speaker 1: especially moved to throw a few dollars into this stock
[57:16] Speaker 1: because it's just it's singing to you, I applaud you. Okay,
[57:20] Speaker 1: go ahead. Lenora Sellers has time in the pocket. Won't happen.
[57:24] Speaker 1: It's not going to happen, won't, But you could buy
[57:26] Speaker 1: pretty low. Okay. Alabama is able to run the ball.
[57:30] Speaker 1: Missouri beats a team in the final a people, you
[57:32] Speaker 1: stop me when you want to throw ten to twenty bucks.
[57:35] Speaker 1: Okay at one. Alabama is going to be able to
[57:37] Speaker 1: run the ball this year. Okay, good for you. Auburn
[57:40] Speaker 1: has a boring, reasonably successful season that universally encourages Auburn
[57:44] Speaker 1: fans for the future. Nothing's ever boring at Auburn, No,
[57:48] Speaker 1: John Summral carries himself in a mostly subtle, reserved manner.
[57:51] Speaker 1: Nopeing If Billy Napier successfully delegates offensive coordinator responsibilities this
[57:56] Speaker 1: time at JMU, he says he is is carrying the
[58:01] Speaker 1: load there, keep going? What else do we got? A
[58:02] Speaker 1: conference will exist that includes the states of Illinois, North Dakota,
[58:05] Speaker 1: and Hawaii. Obviously this exists. Shout out to the Mountain West.
[58:10] Speaker 1: Notre Dame schedule turns out to be pretty tricky. Actually,
[58:14] Speaker 1: I mean, I hope not, but related. Marcus Freeman wears sensible,
[58:20] Speaker 1: somewhat loose fitting pants. Keep going, won't happen? Won't happen?
[58:24] Speaker 1: No major program has issues with players driving too fast.
[58:27] Speaker 1: Never Bill Belichick is newly single and goes on a tear,
[58:32] Speaker 1: destroying the acc like his relationship status was holding him back.
[58:38] Speaker 2: Goes on a tear as a coach or as a
[58:40] Speaker 2: single man. What is your implication here?
[58:42] Speaker 1: You know your mileage may vary, Take your tie, take
[58:46] Speaker 1: your pick, Bill, newly single Bill Belichick on a college campus. Okay, sure,
[58:53] Speaker 1: USC is led by its defense. A Pat Fitzgerald offense
[58:56] Speaker 1: is described earnestly as electric Arthur Smith and Matt Patricia
[59:01] Speaker 1: decide to move in together. I don't know. Maybe their
[59:06] Speaker 1: families are living elsewhere and they're just like, let's be roommates. Sure,
[59:10] Speaker 1: Jedfish denies interest in an open job, and you kind
[59:12] Speaker 1: of believe him. Yes, no, no, I never believe Jedfish.
[59:16] Speaker 1: DJ Lagway is the stabilizing force Baylor has been aching for.
[59:20] Speaker 1: I could throw in a few bucks on that. You
[59:22] Speaker 1: would throw in a few bucks.
[59:23] Speaker 2: I didn't say I would, I said I could. You
[59:25] Speaker 2: could got it? And it depends how much Cody Campbell
[59:28] Speaker 2: keeps a low profile.
[59:30] Speaker 1: Next next topic, Oregon seems especially strong in January. Look,
[59:35] Speaker 1: I have to give equal time. I gotta be fair here. Yeah,
[59:38] Speaker 1: that one's I'll believe it when I see it. Northwestern
[59:41] Speaker 1: scores thirty plus points twice or more in Big ten Play.
[59:45] Speaker 1: I mean I'll throw ten bucks on that. It doesn't
[59:47] Speaker 1: happen a lot time. I looked at recent history. Okay,
[59:51] Speaker 1: thirty points in Big ten play. I think they did
[59:54] Speaker 1: it twice in twenty two or twenty three. Somewhere in there.
[59:59] Speaker 2: There is nowhere I can on that, but I would
[1:00:00] Speaker 2: throw ten bucks in that.
[1:00:02] Speaker 1: Tim Brando fully prepares for a game broadcast. Do you
[1:00:05] Speaker 1: want to throw any money behind that? Going's tough, that's tough.
[1:00:08] Speaker 1: One a new fast casual food baron Booster steps in
[1:00:12] Speaker 1: to keep a coach from leaving. Last year, we had crumble.
[1:00:15] Speaker 1: This year, it could be I don't know somebody who's
[1:00:18] Speaker 1: a franchise e of forty four hardys. Who's to say
[1:00:23] Speaker 1: NC State does not win between seven and nine games,
[1:00:26] Speaker 1: does not win? Yes, so they have to come up
[1:00:30] Speaker 1: with a win total. That could be five, it could
[1:00:32] Speaker 1: be six, could be ten, could be eleven. It cannot
[1:00:35] Speaker 1: be seven, eight or nine. I'll never put any money
[1:00:37] Speaker 1: on that.
[1:00:37] Speaker 2: And I like NC State this year, but we can't
[1:00:40] Speaker 2: do that.
[1:00:41] Speaker 1: I have I have in here an unfounded rumor circulates
[1:00:46] Speaker 1: about a Booster's spouse. You know what, that's probably two wee's.
[1:00:50] Speaker 1: That's probably a regular fans. I mean, that's probably going
[1:00:52] Speaker 1: on right now. Yes. And then my last one is
[1:00:56] Speaker 1: Kurt Signetti gets milkshake ducked. Do you understand that reference?
[1:01:00] Speaker 1: Understand what that means? But it's funny, Okay, So milkshake
[1:01:04] Speaker 1: duck is when somebody became becomes famous for a very
[1:01:08] Speaker 1: innocent reason online and you're like you remember, like the
[1:01:12] Speaker 1: guy who was wearing the red sweater at the h
[1:01:15] Speaker 1: they were like debates or town halls or something like that. Yeah,
[1:01:18] Speaker 1: and then I was like, oh, it turns out his
[1:01:20] Speaker 1: internet history on Reddit it's real weird, right, So his
[1:01:24] Speaker 1: name was like Jim Boone or something, Mike Boone. It
[1:01:27] Speaker 1: sounds right. The term milkshake duck is it comes from
[1:01:32] Speaker 1: like a joke on probably Twitter, who knows where. It's like,
[1:01:36] Speaker 1: look at this duck, he loves drinking milkshakes. And then
[1:01:40] Speaker 1: it's like six hours later, well, turns out the duck
[1:01:42] Speaker 1: is a Nazi, right that, Like, you can't have anything
[1:01:46] Speaker 1: good and fun and innocent without the other shoe dropping
[1:01:50] Speaker 1: for some reason. And so Kurt Signetti getting milkshake ducks
[1:01:53] Speaker 1: would be like, oh, look at this most incredible story
[1:01:56] Speaker 1: in college football history. Kurt Signetti has led the Indiana
[1:01:59] Speaker 1: Who just to a national championship out of nowhere. And
[1:02:03] Speaker 1: then something comes out about Kurt Signetti. We're like, ooh, oh,
[1:02:07] Speaker 1: well that's not as fun anymore.
[1:02:08] Speaker 2: I jotted down Signetti flaming the new ad from Purdue
[1:02:13] Speaker 2: because I don't know if you saw it. When they
[1:02:15] Speaker 2: hired the new ad, he had some comment about Indiana
[1:02:19] Speaker 2: right like, and it was like almost implying the Indiana
[1:02:22] Speaker 2: doesn't win it anything. Well, they just won the national
[1:02:24] Speaker 2: championship obviously, and people online were like, uh, hey man.
[1:02:26] Speaker 1: What are you talking about, dude? Where do you go
[1:02:28] Speaker 1: at this? Bro?
[1:02:29] Speaker 2: Yeah, could definitely see Signetti remembering something like that and
[1:02:33] Speaker 2: just bringing it up at an inopportune time.
[1:02:35] Speaker 1: Yeah, I think those are all my penny stocks. So
[1:02:37] Speaker 1: you like the Northwestern one? I do like the Northwestern one. Actually,
[1:02:41] Speaker 1: thirty plus points twice against like the most impossible schedule
[1:02:44] Speaker 1: in America.
[1:02:45] Speaker 2: Of the ones that you read off, I would probably
[1:02:47] Speaker 2: go Alabama able to run the ball yep, and Northwestern
[1:02:51] Speaker 2: scoring thirty or more points twice in Big Ten play.
[1:02:54] Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, I'd probably do that one. I'm excited. Like
[1:02:57] Speaker 1: even NC State going six and six or ten too,
[1:03:00] Speaker 1: is so laughably weird that you're like, I can't get
[1:03:03] Speaker 1: behind any of those. No, either of those? No, okay,
[1:03:06] Speaker 1: fair enough.
[1:03:07] Speaker 2: Solverbo at gmail dot com is the email address if
[1:03:10] Speaker 2: you've got any thoughts on these, if you'd like to
