[0:04] Speaker 1: Hey, this is Stephen Ferdick.
[0:06] Speaker 2: I'm the pastor of Elevation Church and this is our podcast.
[0:09] Speaker 2: Be sure to subscribe so we can get you these
[0:11] Speaker 2: new sermons every week.
[0:13] Speaker 1: Hope you're blessed today.
[0:20] Speaker 3: I do have a word from the Lord today. Praise
[0:24] Speaker 3: the Lord.
[0:28] Speaker 1: I want to share with you today and pick right
[0:31] Speaker 1: up from where we left off last week. Standing at
[0:34] Speaker 1: the Red Sea and Pharaoh and his chariots are behind us.
[0:40] Speaker 1: An impossible looking obstacle is in front of us. And
[0:43] Speaker 1: last week I preached a message called it still works.
[0:49] Speaker 1: When I said that, I was referring to the rod,
[0:52] Speaker 1: the stick, the staff that Moses held in his hand,
[0:56] Speaker 1: and I was sharing just as we closed and we
[0:59] Speaker 1: ran out of time. He had seen that the stick
[1:02] Speaker 1: could turn into a snake when he threw it on
[1:04] Speaker 1: the ground, but he was about to find out that
[1:08] Speaker 1: it'll work in water too. And my message to you is,
[1:12] Speaker 1: don't be afraid when you face a new challenge, because
[1:15] Speaker 1: what God gave you back then is good enough to
[1:17] Speaker 1: get you through this too. And I do want to
[1:20] Speaker 1: encourage somebody today you'll get through this too. You've been
[1:24] Speaker 1: through a lot of things and you'll get through this too,
[1:26] Speaker 1: but I want to get much more specific today, So
[1:30] Speaker 1: I'm going to share from Exodus, chapter fourteen, verses ten
[1:34] Speaker 1: through sixteen, and then one more verse as well, and
[1:39] Speaker 1: I'll give you the title in just a moment. But
[1:40] Speaker 1: read with me here. The people of God are looking
[1:44] Speaker 1: forward to a brand new beginning. God has sent them
[1:46] Speaker 1: a deliverer named Moses. He has unleashed ten plagues on
[1:49] Speaker 1: Pharaoh and the Egyptian households. God's people are no sooner
[1:54] Speaker 1: out of Egypt than Egypt starts trying to get back
[1:57] Speaker 1: into them. I have found out that it's one thing
[2:03] Speaker 1: for you to let Pharaoh go. It's another thing for
[2:06] Speaker 1: Pharaoh to let you go. And sometimes Pharaoh lets you go,
[2:09] Speaker 1: and you still don't let him go. And sometimes God
[2:13] Speaker 1: says you free from something. But it has an effect
[2:15] Speaker 1: in your life. And you're thinking, man, I thought I
[2:18] Speaker 1: was starting over. I thought this was a fresh beginning
[2:20] Speaker 1: for me. And just as they are moving forward into
[2:24] Speaker 1: their fresh beginning as the people of God and staring
[2:28] Speaker 1: at the Red Sea, they hear a familiar sound of
[2:30] Speaker 1: the chariots of the armies of Pharaoh. Now watch their
[2:34] Speaker 1: response in verse ten. As Pharaoh approached the Israelites looked
[2:39] Speaker 1: up and there were the Egyptians marching after them. They
[2:42] Speaker 1: were terrified and cried out to the Lord. They said
[2:46] Speaker 1: to Moses, was it because there were no graves in
[2:50] Speaker 1: Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die?
[2:53] Speaker 1: What have you done to us by bringing us out
[2:57] Speaker 1: of Egypt? Didn't we say to you? And he leave
[3:01] Speaker 1: us alone, Let us serve the Egyptians. It would have
[3:05] Speaker 1: been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to
[3:08] Speaker 1: die in the desert. Moses answered, the people, do not
[3:12] Speaker 1: be afraid. Stand firm, and you will see the deliverance
[3:17] Speaker 1: the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see
[3:21] Speaker 1: today you will never see again. The Lord will fight
[3:25] Speaker 1: for you. You need only to be still. Now that
[3:29] Speaker 1: verse verse fourteen is complicated because half of it is
[3:32] Speaker 1: correct and half of it is misleading. The Lord will
[3:35] Speaker 1: fight for you, But that second part you need only
[3:39] Speaker 1: to be still. The Lord speaks up and corrects it
[3:42] Speaker 1: in verse fifteen. Now listen to this verse, because this
[3:45] Speaker 1: is the hinge for my message. Then the Lord said
[3:48] Speaker 1: to Moses, why are you crying out to me? Tell
[3:53] Speaker 1: the Israelites to move on. Raise your staff, touch your
[3:59] Speaker 1: neighbors say, is still works. It still works. Raise your staff,
[4:03] Speaker 1: the same staff that worked with the sheep, the same
[4:06] Speaker 1: staff that turned into a snake, the same staff that
[4:09] Speaker 1: turned the nile into blood, the same staff they called
[4:12] Speaker 1: down hail from heaven, that same staff.
[4:14] Speaker 3: Raise it now, and stretch out.
[4:16] Speaker 1: Your hand over the sea to divide the water so
[4:20] Speaker 1: that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground.
[4:24] Speaker 1: Now drop down, police to verse twenty one and twenty two.
[4:27] Speaker 1: Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and
[4:31] Speaker 1: all that night the Lord drove back the sea with
[4:34] Speaker 1: a strong east wind and turned it into dry land.
[4:38] Speaker 1: The waters were divided, and the Israelites went through the
[4:41] Speaker 1: sea on dry ground, with the wall of water on
[4:44] Speaker 1: their right and on their left. What a story. One
[4:49] Speaker 1: more verse Romans, Chapter eight, Verse thirty one. You're gonna
[4:54] Speaker 1: like this one. You're gonna be tempted to get a
[4:57] Speaker 1: tattoo of this one your parents. First, though, you might
[5:04] Speaker 1: want to set your alarm to eight thirty one am
[5:07] Speaker 1: tomorrow morning so you can remember this one when the
[5:09] Speaker 1: alarm goes off. See what you think about this verse?
[5:14] Speaker 1: What then shall we say in response to these things?
[5:21] Speaker 3: If God is.
[5:23] Speaker 1: For us who can be against us. I don't know
[5:33] Speaker 1: where you're at in this story. I don't know what
[5:35] Speaker 1: chapter you're stuck in, but the title of my message is,
[5:40] Speaker 1: you can change the end. You can change the end.
[5:47] Speaker 1: I don't know how much time you've wasted, but you
[5:49] Speaker 1: can change the end. I don't know if you like
[5:52] Speaker 1: what it looks like today, but you can change the end.
[5:56] Speaker 1: I don't know if you've been a good Christian in
[5:57] Speaker 1: high school, but you can change the end. You can
[6:00] Speaker 1: change the end. Father, give us faith to receive the
[6:04] Speaker 1: impartation of your word in Jesus' name. Amen, touch three
[6:08] Speaker 1: people say change it on your way to your seat,
[6:12] Speaker 1: because you can change the end. You can change the end. Boy,
[6:20] Speaker 1: what a thought. You can change the end. You can
[6:24] Speaker 1: change the end. See because a fresh start is technically impossible.
[6:30] Speaker 1: I know we all want one, I know we may
[6:33] Speaker 1: need one. But you know the experiences of your past
[6:37] Speaker 1: don't evaporate as you move into your future. And you
[6:40] Speaker 1: know that. You know that doesn't keep us from praying. God,
[6:43] Speaker 1: just give me like a reset, like if it was
[6:46] Speaker 1: a video game. I just just go back and do
[6:48] Speaker 1: that again. You can't really have a fresh start. But
[6:52] Speaker 1: what I want to try to show you today practically
[6:54] Speaker 1: is that you can't get a fresh start, but you
[6:57] Speaker 1: can take a forward step. So we have three responses
[7:05] Speaker 1: essentially in this passage that I just read you to
[7:08] Speaker 1: an impossible obstacle, and I'll break them down for you
[7:11] Speaker 1: as we begin. The first response is the response of
[7:14] Speaker 1: God's people. The response of God's people, and their response,
[7:19] Speaker 1: to be summed up in two words, is it's over. Right,
[7:24] Speaker 1: We've only been free for a few days and here
[7:28] Speaker 1: comes Pharaoh to drag us back, and it's over. That's
[7:32] Speaker 1: their response. And not only are they responding it's over
[7:36] Speaker 1: with desperation, but their desperation leads to anger. With Moses specifically,
[7:43] Speaker 1: because they are afraid, they get angry, and so the
[7:48] Speaker 1: anger is a response to the fear, because rather than
[7:53] Speaker 1: just feel the fear and move forward, they stop in
[7:57] Speaker 1: a place to place blame on the person whose fault
[8:00] Speaker 1: they think it is. So anytime that you see someone
[8:04] Speaker 1: who is angry, including yourself, ask the question what are
[8:08] Speaker 1: they afraid of? Because the anger is usually a masquerade
[8:14] Speaker 1: for the fact that they're afraid. That's the response of
[8:17] Speaker 1: God's people is over and they're afraid, and they start
[8:21] Speaker 1: doing revisionist history. Moses, we told you to leave us alone.
[8:24] Speaker 1: No you didn't. You begged him to bring you out.
[8:27] Speaker 1: We told you we were better off in Egypt. No,
[8:29] Speaker 1: you didn't tell us you better off in Egypt. You're
[8:30] Speaker 1: adding that part back. I found out that oftentimes our
[8:35] Speaker 1: version of the past is just as imaginary as our
[8:37] Speaker 1: version of the future, and we go back through things,
[8:42] Speaker 1: especially when we're feeling paralyzed, and we project things onto
[8:46] Speaker 1: the past that never happens. So that's the situation with
[8:49] Speaker 1: God's people. Everybody say, is over. Put it in the
[8:52] Speaker 1: chat is over. That's their response. Response number two is Moses,
[8:57] Speaker 1: and Moses is trying to bring some calm. He's like
[9:00] Speaker 1: beathing everybody box, breathing everybody for him, hold it for
[9:03] Speaker 1: four out, downward dog, upward dog, whatever y'all need to
[9:06] Speaker 1: do to chill out. Be still. God's got this, and
[9:10] Speaker 1: he's saying the thing that it would be appropriate for
[9:12] Speaker 1: a leader to say in this situation. His response is
[9:15] Speaker 1: stand still. But there's a third response in the passage
[9:19] Speaker 1: that we want to talk about for a few moments today,
[9:21] Speaker 1: and I want to apply directly to your life of
[9:22] Speaker 1: the situations that you're facing that seem impossible, and the
[9:25] Speaker 1: past is threatening to drag you back, and it looks
[9:28] Speaker 1: like it's over. God's response says, move on. So there
[9:33] Speaker 1: are three responses for us to consider here today. One
[9:36] Speaker 1: is desperation followed by fear and then manifesting in anger
[9:42] Speaker 1: is over. The second one is the response of Moses,
[9:46] Speaker 1: where he says stand still, God's going to do it.
[9:49] Speaker 1: It's going to be fine. And then the third one
[9:52] Speaker 1: is God's response and spoiler alert, God's right and Moses
[9:56] Speaker 1: is wrong. Now, I wish I could teach a leadership
[9:58] Speaker 1: session off of this text, because I would really love to.
[10:01] Speaker 1: One of my favorite things to teach as a leader
[10:04] Speaker 1: for those who work closely with me, especially, I always
[10:07] Speaker 1: train this. I say, big doors swing on little hinges.
[10:12] Speaker 1: I didn't make that up, but I say it all
[10:14] Speaker 1: the time, and I'm trying to get them to understand
[10:17] Speaker 1: when I say that to them is you may think
[10:19] Speaker 1: this really doesn't matter, but big doors swing on little hinges.
[10:25] Speaker 1: You know it matters to me how we run our
[10:28] Speaker 1: e Kids ministry. Do you know what I'm saying? Because
[10:31] Speaker 1: if they feed your kid, you know, a rotten animal
[10:33] Speaker 1: cracker and they get sick in the emergency room or
[10:35] Speaker 1: something like that, and you see the church, you know,
[10:37] Speaker 1: or if they choke back there, that could be a
[10:39] Speaker 1: big door to a lawsuit that swings on a little hinge.
[10:42] Speaker 1: So I'm like, let's be safe in the children's ministry
[10:45] Speaker 1: or even little things. I mess up things sometimes and
[10:48] Speaker 1: I have to tell myself, you know, slow down, because
[10:51] Speaker 1: big doors swing on little hinges. In the case of Moses,
[10:57] Speaker 1: you might ask the question, when God gives him the
[10:59] Speaker 1: command and to stretch out his staff over the sea,
[11:05] Speaker 1: what good is something so small stretched over something so big.
[11:10] Speaker 1: How could something as small as a stick affect something
[11:13] Speaker 1: as big as a sea. Well, big doors swing on
[11:18] Speaker 1: little hinges. Or you might say big seas open with
[11:24] Speaker 1: little sticks, and that would be a good leadership sermon.
[11:28] Speaker 1: Even just the other week, I didn't tell you this yet, LJ,
[11:31] Speaker 1: but I messed up. I texted Tiffany that I wanted
[11:35] Speaker 1: her to do her new song and I wanted her
[11:38] Speaker 1: in Devied to sing it. And when I sent the text,
[11:41] Speaker 1: I said, we need to try it in church one Sunday.
[11:44] Speaker 1: This was on a Saturday night, and I wasn't going
[11:45] Speaker 1: to be at church the next day. I was off
[11:47] Speaker 1: that weekend, and so I texted her. I said, hey,
[11:49] Speaker 1: we need to do that in church. We haven't done
[11:51] Speaker 1: it in church yet. We need to do it in
[11:52] Speaker 1: church one Sunday. Well, I turned on church online and
[11:55] Speaker 1: they were doing it the next day. I thought, wow,
[11:58] Speaker 1: what a turnaround time in firing motivational leader. I am.
[12:02] Speaker 3: They did it that quick.
[12:03] Speaker 1: I mean I thought maybe they would get everybody ready
[12:05] Speaker 1: and let the band rehearse. They turned that thing around quick,
[12:08] Speaker 1: and I thought, well, that's kind of strange. You know,
[12:10] Speaker 1: they should have given the band more time to learn it,
[12:12] Speaker 1: and maybe the singers and everything like that. So I
[12:14] Speaker 1: pulled back up the text and I said, man, why
[12:16] Speaker 1: was Tiffany so over eager? Like we didn't have to
[12:18] Speaker 1: do it within twelve hours. We could have done it
[12:20] Speaker 1: next week or something like that. And I pulled back
[12:22] Speaker 1: up the text that said we need to do it
[12:25] Speaker 1: one Sunday, or so I thought I texted, But what
[12:27] Speaker 1: I actually texted was on Sunday, so big inconvenience for
[12:35] Speaker 1: them because of one letter for me, and now everybody's
[12:41] Speaker 1: scrambling to learn a song. And I didn't mean we
[12:43] Speaker 1: have to do it tomorrow, but one letter everybody say
[12:46] Speaker 1: one letter, one word, one word, just one word, And
[12:50] Speaker 1: now everybody's having to pull out court charts because you
[12:52] Speaker 1: have to understand that big doors swing on little hinges.
[12:59] Speaker 1: Good marriage is by little eye rolls. Big problems, big
[13:08] Speaker 1: addictions begin with little curiosities. By the same token, great
[13:18] Speaker 1: joy can terrupt from small praise Yeah, And by the
[13:23] Speaker 1: same token, just a small decision, the smallest decision that
[13:29] Speaker 1: you make can be a hinge to the biggest event
[13:32] Speaker 1: and approve it to you. From this the exodust narrative,
[13:36] Speaker 1: Exodust means exit. This is to be the defining, distinguishing
[13:40] Speaker 1: miracle of the people of God for centuries to come.
[13:44] Speaker 1: And it starts with a stick, because big doors swing
[13:49] Speaker 1: on little hinges. But it matters in this moment for Moses,
[13:53] Speaker 1: what response will you give when the results are not
[13:57] Speaker 1: under your control? And this is the separation that we
[14:02] Speaker 1: have to make for the decisions of our life too.
[14:07] Speaker 1: When God corrects Moses in this passage because the people
[14:10] Speaker 1: are crying out and asking him to do something about
[14:13] Speaker 1: their enemy, and he says that what you have in
[14:16] Speaker 1: your hand is enough for what I've called you to do. Next,
[14:20] Speaker 1: remember something as small as a stick, little hinges, something
[14:25] Speaker 1: as big as a ce big door. What is that
[14:28] Speaker 1: picture for you today? I need you to stop and
[14:30] Speaker 1: think about it so that we don't dislocate our application
[14:34] Speaker 1: by going back into the past of the history of
[14:36] Speaker 1: the text and realizing that you yourself are standing at
[14:40] Speaker 1: hinge moments every day. That's what I call them hinge moments.
[14:45] Speaker 1: It's the moment where you decide go back, go forward,
[14:48] Speaker 1: stand still. It's the moment where you decide continue to
[14:52] Speaker 1: blame and become more and more bitter, or forgive and
[14:56] Speaker 1: be set free for my future. It's a hinge moment.
[15:00] Speaker 1: And you say, well, it's not that big of a deal.
[15:02] Speaker 1: It is a big deal because the smallest of offenses
[15:07] Speaker 1: can become the most unforgiving prisons. And it matters what
[15:17] Speaker 1: you do in this moment.
[15:18] Speaker 3: Now.
[15:20] Speaker 1: Moses and the children of Israel have a perspective on
[15:24] Speaker 1: this miracle that we do not have because they had
[15:28] Speaker 1: to respond in real time. And this is the challenge,
[15:33] Speaker 1: not that we would respond to God's goodness with praise
[15:36] Speaker 1: on Sunday. My goal for you when you leave this
[15:40] Speaker 1: sermon today and every Sunday is that your real time
[15:43] Speaker 1: response would reflect what God spoke to you in the service.
[15:48] Speaker 1: So that means that when you get bumped by life,
[15:52] Speaker 1: the word that you receive from God comes out of
[15:54] Speaker 1: you instead of the other stuff, because there is some
[15:58] Speaker 1: other stuff that comes out of us. I got an
[16:00] Speaker 1: encouraging testimony from Lindsey, who serves on our staff. Y'all
[16:04] Speaker 1: give Lindsay a hand real quick, and she said, thank
[16:09] Speaker 1: you for the message that you preached last week. She
[16:12] Speaker 1: said it really helped me. She said, you talked about
[16:15] Speaker 1: how sometimes you have to do it doubting, and the
[16:17] Speaker 1: Lord really confirmed something for me. I said, well, what
[16:19] Speaker 1: was it, if you don't mind me asking. She said,
[16:21] Speaker 1: I have been feeling overwhelmed by the responsibilities that my boss,
[16:25] Speaker 1: who is Chad and he's also here today, has been
[16:29] Speaker 1: asking me to fulfill. Now she was texting me this
[16:31] Speaker 1: all right. She was saying, I've been feeling overwhelmed because
[16:33] Speaker 1: he's been asking me to step up and I have
[16:36] Speaker 1: been shrinking back because not only does she have a
[16:40] Speaker 1: very young and growing family. But she said, I was
[16:42] Speaker 1: comparing myself to the other leaders and how they did it.
[16:45] Speaker 1: I was comparing myself to people that I think are
[16:47] Speaker 1: more confident. But the Lord really spoke to me that
[16:50] Speaker 1: I need to step up in my area of responsibility,
[16:53] Speaker 1: and he used the word that you preach to confirm that.
[16:56] Speaker 1: Now she was thanking me for the word, and then
[16:58] Speaker 1: I started thanking her for her thanks you, and I'll
[17:00] Speaker 1: tell you why. I said, Lindsey, thank you so much
[17:04] Speaker 1: for this text is so refreshing. Do you know how
[17:07] Speaker 1: many times I've preached sermons and people have used them
[17:11] Speaker 1: as an excuse not to step up in responsibility, but
[17:16] Speaker 1: to bail out on their responsibility. I remember one time
[17:20] Speaker 1: there was somebody who told me I was preaching about
[17:22] Speaker 1: when the Israelites left Egypt, and I was preaching specifically
[17:25] Speaker 1: how they had to leave before the yeast had a
[17:28] Speaker 1: chance to rise. And they were listening to me preach,
[17:30] Speaker 1: and what they took from that message was God is
[17:33] Speaker 1: calling me to quit my job. I don't have another
[17:36] Speaker 1: one lined up. I don't have health insurance, and I
[17:38] Speaker 1: have kids. My husband doesn't have a job. We don't
[17:41] Speaker 1: have another thing to step into. But Pastor, when you
[17:43] Speaker 1: said leave Egypt before the bread has time to rise,
[17:47] Speaker 1: I just decided to quit. And the organization they were
[17:50] Speaker 1: quitting was Elevation Church. So now I'm thinking, am I
[17:53] Speaker 1: Pharaoh in this analogy, like if you're going to play
[17:56] Speaker 1: the whole thing out? Because last time I checked, you
[18:00] Speaker 1: were getting a check. So this is not exactly a
[18:04] Speaker 1: situation for you to escape. And I texted Lindsey back
[18:10] Speaker 1: something and.
[18:10] Speaker 3: The Lord told me to put it in my sermon.
[18:11] Speaker 1: For you today. Beware of any word from God that
[18:16] Speaker 1: pulls you toward an escape from reality rather than an
[18:21] Speaker 1: embrace of responsibility.
[18:27] Speaker 3: Shall I say it again? I want you to get this.
[18:31] Speaker 1: Beware of any word from God because we think we
[18:34] Speaker 1: get a word from God. Well, beware of any interpretation
[18:39] Speaker 1: of a word from God that pulls you toward an
[18:42] Speaker 1: escape from reality rather than an embrace from responsibility. Because
[18:47] Speaker 1: sometimes we confuse freedom with relief. Sometimes we will believe
[18:54] Speaker 1: that God is saying something to us.
[18:57] Speaker 3: Because it is what we have already decided.
[18:59] Speaker 1: We wanted to hear. Sometimes it is not the word
[19:02] Speaker 1: of God. It is confirmation by us that makes us
[19:05] Speaker 1: think that we heard the Lord say something. But the
[19:08] Speaker 1: Lord did not tell you to leave somebody that you
[19:11] Speaker 1: committed your life to. The Lord did not tell you
[19:13] Speaker 1: to just hop around from church to church every time
[19:17] Speaker 1: you get offended by one person. The Lord wants you
[19:20] Speaker 1: to stay long enough to learn how to work through
[19:22] Speaker 1: an offense in the place where you are, so you
[19:25] Speaker 1: don't end up in the prison of always having to
[19:27] Speaker 1: run from place to place. So it is a good
[19:33] Speaker 1: way to discern a word from God. Am I just
[19:36] Speaker 1: trying to get out of something? Or am I going
[19:38] Speaker 1: towards something? And if you don't even know what you're
[19:41] Speaker 1: going toward, it may not be God's word. It may
[19:44] Speaker 1: just be your wish. And who among us doesn't want
[19:48] Speaker 1: to escape a situation? But I have found that in
[19:51] Speaker 1: many cases, by trying to escape a situation, you end
[19:55] Speaker 1: up in a worse prison than you were in to
[19:57] Speaker 1: begin with, because now you have imprisoned yourself to the
[20:00] Speaker 1: flippant decision that you made to walk away from something
[20:03] Speaker 1: that God was calling you to step up in. So
[20:14] Speaker 1: I said, thank you, Lindsey. That means a lot to me,
[20:16] Speaker 1: because it's rare that somebody will take God's word as
[20:20] Speaker 1: a challenge to step up. We're always looking for God's
[20:22] Speaker 1: word to get us out of stuff. I'll give you
[20:24] Speaker 1: another example. I really want to break this down because
[20:27] Speaker 1: you're like, he's just fussing because people leave the church. No,
[20:30] Speaker 1: I mean you can leave if God tells you to leave.
[20:32] Speaker 1: I'm just trying to get you not to leave things
[20:34] Speaker 1: that God has called you to be loyal too. There's
[20:39] Speaker 1: a reason we love the Red Sea Miracle. It's because
[20:41] Speaker 1: they're getting out and we love that kind of story.
[20:45] Speaker 1: We're getting out. Did you miss the fact they had
[20:47] Speaker 1: to go through and even when they got through, guess
[20:51] Speaker 1: where they landed the wilderness.
[20:53] Speaker 3: Now you got to go through that.
[20:56] Speaker 1: So here's an example. I've heard so many sermons and
[21:00] Speaker 1: preached many myself about how when people leave your life,
[21:04] Speaker 1: it's just God getting you ready for the next level.
[21:07] Speaker 1: And you know that chickens can't fly with eagles, so
[21:11] Speaker 1: tell them goodbye and go to the next level. But
[21:14] Speaker 1: I want to ask you a question. If every three
[21:17] Speaker 1: weeks you need a message about everybody leaving your life,
[21:23] Speaker 1: is there a leak in your life that is causing
[21:26] Speaker 1: everybody to leave? Because if all we give you is
[21:32] Speaker 1: an encouragement that God has somebody better and better and better,
[21:38] Speaker 1: you will look beyond the people that God put in
[21:40] Speaker 1: front of you for the better one that they tell
[21:42] Speaker 1: you is coming. But even if God sends the better one,
[21:45] Speaker 1: if you don't get better at relationships, they'll leave too.
[21:48] Speaker 1: Now you're leaking the next relationship because I'm going to
[21:51] Speaker 1: the next level. You're not going to the next level.
[21:54] Speaker 1: You are leaking love. So it's important that you get
[22:03] Speaker 1: this message so that you get the right response in
[22:07] Speaker 1: real time, in real time, so that you can come
[22:12] Speaker 1: to what looks like the end. And there can come
[22:16] Speaker 1: seasons in your life where you think like it's totally over.
[22:19] Speaker 1: I've totally blown it. This is it. I will never
[22:22] Speaker 1: be happy again, I will never have joy again. My
[22:24] Speaker 1: best is behind me. Now, if you've ever thought any
[22:25] Speaker 1: of those thoughts in your life, wave at me, so
[22:27] Speaker 1: I don't stand up here in my purple shirt looking
[22:29] Speaker 1: like Barney the Dinosaur all by myself. Wave at me,
[22:33] Speaker 1: Wave at me, Wave at me, wave at me. Here's
[22:36] Speaker 1: the phrase, put it on the board. Please the end,
[22:42] Speaker 1: the end, Okay, So let's act it out. Children of Israel,
[22:45] Speaker 1: Bubble says, they went out of Egypt marching boldly. I
[22:48] Speaker 1: love that part. They were marching boldly until they heard
[22:53] Speaker 1: something behind them. You know how you get all cocky
[22:55] Speaker 1: while you're in church, Tell the devil you mess with
[22:59] Speaker 1: the wrong one. But at six pm, tonight. God, why
[23:02] Speaker 1: is the devil picking on me? You know? Now you
[23:05] Speaker 1: go from bring it to God, Please get me out
[23:08] Speaker 1: of this. God, I'm sorry. I'll never do it again. Lord.
[23:10] Speaker 1: And so as they're leaving and they're moving toward a
[23:14] Speaker 1: fresh start, remember, and then they hear a familiar sound
[23:17] Speaker 1: and they come to the end of the road. The
[23:22] Speaker 1: end we're gonna die here is over. This is the end.
[23:30] Speaker 1: This is it. And it looked like that, and it
[23:33] Speaker 1: feels like that.
[23:34] Speaker 3: Can I be honest?
[23:36] Speaker 1: There have been so many times in my ministry where
[23:39] Speaker 1: I have thought my effectiveness and my relevance has seen
[23:43] Speaker 1: its greatest season, and now I'm going down. There were
[23:47] Speaker 1: times where people criticized me publicly and I thought I'll
[23:50] Speaker 1: never recover from this. There have been times where I
[23:53] Speaker 1: lost my own joy and I thought, I don't know
[23:55] Speaker 1: how I'm gonna get it back to preach. I've been
[23:57] Speaker 1: in seasons like this before, and it feels like the end.
[24:03] Speaker 1: And Moses's response is very tempting. Here just be still.
[24:07] Speaker 3: The people are like, it's over the end.
[24:11] Speaker 1: Put it on the screen, y'all, good screen, it's the end.
[24:16] Speaker 1: And Moses is like, just be still, and God's like
[24:20] Speaker 1: you're gonna die right, Graham said last week, every Stephen
[24:24] Speaker 1: Ferdick sermon ends the same way you're gonna make it,
[24:27] Speaker 1: So I thought i'd change it up this week.
[24:29] Speaker 3: You might not.
[24:31] Speaker 1: You like that. You can't say that no more now,
[24:33] Speaker 1: can you. You might not make it, not if you
[24:38] Speaker 1: don't respond right in this moment. I'm not saying you're
[24:43] Speaker 1: automatically gonna have a better tomorrow just because God is
[24:45] Speaker 1: with you today. So, for the first time ever at
[24:48] Speaker 1: Elevation Church, touch your neighbors say.
[24:50] Speaker 3: You might not make it. You might not make it.
[24:54] Speaker 1: Stephen Ferdick told you that it's on a Stephen Ferdick podcast.
[24:58] Speaker 3: You might not make it.
[25:00] Speaker 1: If they did what Moses said, they would have died
[25:04] Speaker 1: because you've got to move on. You might not make
[25:13] Speaker 1: it if you keep listening to all the sad songs
[25:16] Speaker 1: and never listen to a happy one. You might not
[25:19] Speaker 1: make it back next Sunday, if you keep feeding yourself
[25:22] Speaker 1: all the stuff you've been feeding yourself. So I thought
[25:26] Speaker 1: I would uplift the people of God and edify the
[25:28] Speaker 1: saints by telling you the message. You might not make it.
[25:31] Speaker 1: It all depends on your response because when you are
[25:35] Speaker 1: standing at the end. Watch this the end of the dream,
[25:38] Speaker 1: the end of the vision, the end of the relationship,
[25:41] Speaker 1: the end, the end, the end. There's so many unmentionable
[25:45] Speaker 1: situations in this room today that are so deeply painful
[25:49] Speaker 1: that if I set them right now, it would take
[25:51] Speaker 1: you out of the rest of the sermon, because you
[25:53] Speaker 1: go back to me. That's where I'm standing, eye am paralyzed.
[25:56] Speaker 1: I'm like the people. I'm angry because I was afraid.
[26:00] Speaker 1: I'm afraid because I'm desperate, because it looks like the end,
[26:03] Speaker 1: which is why Verse fifteen of Exodus fourteen is the
[26:08] Speaker 1: hinge of this entire lesson that God has given us,
[26:13] Speaker 1: where the Bible says, then the Lord said to Moses.
[26:18] Speaker 1: Then the Lord said to Moses. Then the Lord said
[26:22] Speaker 1: to Moses that what you need for this next season
[26:27] Speaker 1: is in the feet of the people moving forward into
[26:31] Speaker 1: what looks like an impossible situation. Then the Lord said
[26:37] Speaker 1: to Moses, So my announcement today is if you are
[26:40] Speaker 1: standing at the end of something, standing looking at something
[26:44] Speaker 1: that looks impossible for you to navigate, and you don't
[26:47] Speaker 1: know how, the Lord said to tell you, you can
[26:50] Speaker 1: change the end.
[26:53] Speaker 3: Change it.
[26:53] Speaker 1: Jared you can change the end. Oh, come on, y'all
[27:02] Speaker 1: gotta do better than that.
[27:03] Speaker 3: I worked on that.
[27:04] Speaker 1: I worked like a dog to show you that. Go
[27:09] Speaker 1: back and do it again. They missed it, they missed it.
[27:11] Speaker 1: I'm gonna give you another chance. I'm gonna get you
[27:13] Speaker 1: another chance. I know you woke up late. I know
[27:15] Speaker 1: you put on those shoes that are half sized too small.
[27:17] Speaker 1: I know us your throat hurts a little bit. You
[27:19] Speaker 1: got that polling thing oh going on. It hadn't been
[27:21] Speaker 1: raining enough in Charlotte. I know you just weren't ready
[27:24] Speaker 1: for it. But the Lord said, I know it looks bad.
[27:27] Speaker 1: I know it looks dire. I know you feel desperate.
[27:29] Speaker 1: I know you're kind of angry. I know they let
[27:31] Speaker 1: you down. I know they walked away. I know it's
[27:33] Speaker 1: been a rough night. I know it's been a rough year.
[27:35] Speaker 1: I know it's been a rough season. I know they
[27:37] Speaker 1: abused you. I know they left you. I know they
[27:39] Speaker 1: abandon you. But what I put in your hand when
[27:42] Speaker 1: my word comes, change it, Jared.
[27:45] Speaker 3: You can change the end.
[27:49] Speaker 1: Because then the Lord said to Moses, moo, moo, stove.
[27:59] Speaker 1: Your neighbors say move. I give you a little push start,
[28:04] Speaker 1: I give you a.
[28:04] Speaker 4: Little trump, start, move, move, come on shop five people
[28:11] Speaker 4: so hard they get scared and say move because you
[28:15] Speaker 4: might not make it if you don't move.
[28:18] Speaker 3: But if you will take what's in.
[28:19] Speaker 4: Your hand, I said, if you will take what's in
[28:23] Speaker 4: your head, it's cutting out to get you through this too.
[28:32] Speaker 3: Somebody take a step, say move, take a step and move.
[28:37] Speaker 3: Take a step and move.
[28:39] Speaker 1: Take a step and trust Scott. Take a step and
[28:42] Speaker 1: pray about it. Take a step and praise them again.
[28:45] Speaker 1: Take a step and race that baby. Take a step
[28:48] Speaker 1: and go back to the doctor and say, I'm gonna
[28:51] Speaker 1: do the treatment, but I trust Stop, Move, Move Move.
[29:05] Speaker 1: The people say why, Moses says stand God said mood,
[29:10] Speaker 1: And you've got to learn how to respond in real time.
[29:14] Speaker 1: You might need to put this message that I preached
[29:17] Speaker 1: that one part as your alarm at eight thirty one
[29:20] Speaker 1: tomorrow morning, because remember Romans eight thirty one. I don't
[29:24] Speaker 1: know if y'all forgot it already. It's pretty powerful because
[29:28] Speaker 1: the Romans eight thirty one kind of is my whole message.
[29:31] Speaker 1: Put it on the screen. Please what then, justin help
[29:38] Speaker 1: us teach today circle the word? Then?
[29:41] Speaker 3: What then.
[29:43] Speaker 1: Shall we say in response to these things.
[29:47] Speaker 3: What things?
[29:48] Speaker 1: He goes on to name them, danger, pestilence, nakedness, famine, sword, trouble,
[29:54] Speaker 1: anything you can name. Paul says, what then shall we
[29:57] Speaker 1: say in response to these things? What then? Then? Show
[30:03] Speaker 1: him again, it looks like the end, It looks like
[30:06] Speaker 1: it's over.
[30:07] Speaker 3: But what change it?
[30:09] Speaker 1: Then? Shall we say in response to these things? That's
[30:17] Speaker 1: my question to you today, What then do you need
[30:21] Speaker 1: to say in response to these things? Because if you
[30:27] Speaker 1: don't get to, then you don't make it. You might
[30:29] Speaker 1: not make it. If you don't get to then so
[30:31] Speaker 1: it looks like this. My dad pulled me aside when
[30:34] Speaker 1: I was a young boy. He said, Son, alcoholism runs
[30:38] Speaker 1: in our family. It is a genetic disposition for you
[30:41] Speaker 1: to be an alcoholic. My father was an alcoholic. I
[30:44] Speaker 1: struggle with alcoholism as far.
[30:46] Speaker 3: Back as I can see.
[30:48] Speaker 1: There were alcoholics on the vertic side of the family tree.
[30:52] Speaker 1: But Son, you have the opportunity to do this different.
[30:57] Speaker 1: So what he's saying is, even though I'm made some mistakes,
[31:01] Speaker 1: you don't have to make the same mistakes that I'm made.
[31:05] Speaker 1: If you get the what then what? Then look at
[31:14] Speaker 1: your neighbor and ask them tonight, say what then what then?
[31:18] Speaker 1: That's what the children is or is there will have
[31:20] Speaker 1: to decide in the moment. I know you don't like
[31:23] Speaker 1: the chariots chasing you. I know it wasn't fair how
[31:25] Speaker 1: your story got started. But you can change the end.
[31:30] Speaker 1: You can change the end. What then, there you go, Jared,
[31:34] Speaker 1: change it, change it, changed it? What then needs to
[31:37] Speaker 1: come next in your life? Because there are no fresh starts,
[31:40] Speaker 1: but there are forward steps. What then? What then?
[31:44] Speaker 3: What then?
[31:45] Speaker 1: What then? And you know that's the only thing you
[31:47] Speaker 1: got to figure out in the season of your life
[31:50] Speaker 1: is where to put your foot next?
[31:52] Speaker 3: What then?
[31:53] Speaker 1: Not three years from now, three minutes from now, what then,
[31:57] Speaker 1: not three minutes from now, three seconds from now?
[31:59] Speaker 3: What then?
[32:01] Speaker 1: I see people getting tattoos all over this church that
[32:04] Speaker 1: just say what then?
[32:05] Speaker 3: See?
[32:05] Speaker 1: Because you are a story that is still unfolding. You
[32:08] Speaker 1: are a masterpiece in the making. There is something that
[32:11] Speaker 1: God is doing in your life that your eyes have
[32:13] Speaker 1: not seen and your ears have not heard, and it
[32:16] Speaker 1: has not entered into your heart, the things that God
[32:18] Speaker 1: has planned for them that loved him. What then shall
[32:21] Speaker 1: we say in response to these things?
[32:25] Speaker 3: Because one day.
[32:25] Speaker 1: Your story will be told. What then do you want
[32:29] Speaker 1: to be in the story when you tell it, because
[32:32] Speaker 1: it doesn't have to end like it is right now.
[32:34] Speaker 1: It doesn't have to end like it is right now.
[32:36] Speaker 1: It doesn't have to end like it is right It
[32:39] Speaker 1: doesn't have.
[32:39] Speaker 3: To end like it. It doesn't have to end like it.
[32:44] Speaker 1: You could change the end. We can't fix the beginning.
[32:49] Speaker 1: You don't have to. Jesus died for that.
[32:53] Speaker 3: Ah, Jesus died for that.
[32:56] Speaker 1: Everything you ever did, He took nails in his hand
[33:04] Speaker 1: so you would never have to pay for your sin. Yeah. Yeah,
[33:09] Speaker 1: But now we are in a moment in your life,
[33:11] Speaker 1: give me my camera where it's not what's in his hand,
[33:14] Speaker 1: it's what's in yours that's going to make the difference.
[33:18] Speaker 1: What then? What then? So you may be talking to
[33:23] Speaker 1: somebody about this thing you're going through, What then shall
[33:25] Speaker 1: we say in response to these things? Yeah, these things
[33:31] Speaker 1: going through. Some things right now don't look like cherious.
[33:34] Speaker 1: Sometimes it looks like a child custody battle. Sometimes it
[33:37] Speaker 1: looks like a child in your home that's struggling. Sometimes
[33:39] Speaker 1: it looks like in your own heart you don't even
[33:42] Speaker 1: want to be around anymore. What then, is the question
[33:46] Speaker 1: shall we say in response to these things? So maybe
[33:49] Speaker 1: we want to think about when you're telling the story
[33:51] Speaker 1: one day, what then shall you say in response to
[33:57] Speaker 1: these things the children of Israel say, is over? Moses says,
[34:02] Speaker 1: stands still. God says, give it to me again, Jared,
[34:05] Speaker 1: it's not the end. Then then, so when the story
[34:10] Speaker 1: was told, watch this Exius, chapter fourteen, verse twenty one.
[34:13] Speaker 1: The real hinge isn't what the Lord said, it's what
[34:17] Speaker 1: Moses did. Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea.
[34:26] Speaker 1: And all that night the Lord drove back to sea
[34:28] Speaker 1: with a strong east wind. Lord, I want a strong
[34:31] Speaker 1: east wind. Drive it back, Drive back to dead, drive
[34:35] Speaker 1: back to bankrupt seat, drive back the depression, drive it back.
[34:38] Speaker 1: And God said, what will you do while you're waiting
[34:43] Speaker 1: for me to drive it? Because God only drove it
[34:46] Speaker 1: when Moses did it.
[34:48] Speaker 3: What then? What then?
[34:51] Speaker 1: Oh, this is going so good, Thank you Lord for
[34:54] Speaker 1: this word. What then that's what you got to answer?
[34:57] Speaker 1: What then? Not? What them? It don't matter about them,
[35:00] Speaker 1: It matters about you.
[35:02] Speaker 3: What then?
[35:02] Speaker 1: What then? What now?
[35:04] Speaker 3: What me?
[35:05] Speaker 1: Change me? Holly made a whole Bible study called Missus
[35:08] Speaker 1: Better Half for married couples who are just married, and
[35:11] Speaker 1: the entire premise is when I change me, I change we?
[35:17] Speaker 1: What then? Now what them? You think she can fix me?
[35:23] Speaker 1: You think she can fix this? This is unfixable. But
[35:27] Speaker 1: she can love me, she can accept me, she can
[35:29] Speaker 1: be my partner. See what then, that's what you're always
[35:33] Speaker 1: deciding in a relationship. Oh they cussed me out? What then?
[35:37] Speaker 1: How do you want the story to go? When the
[35:39] Speaker 1: boys were really little, we went to see this Christian
[35:41] Speaker 1: movie one day. And I'm telling you the Christian movie
[35:42] Speaker 1: because it makes a story even that much more embarrassing
[35:44] Speaker 1: for me. And I'm gonna put myself out there and
[35:46] Speaker 1: hopes that it might help you to find your own
[35:47] Speaker 1: story as well, because your story's not over. Your story
[35:50] Speaker 1: is not over. Your story is not over. There is
[35:52] Speaker 1: a next chapter for your life. There is a next
[35:55] Speaker 1: chapter for your life. But but the way it goes,
[35:59] Speaker 1: the story you tell else depends on the then that
[36:02] Speaker 1: you live right now. So that's what you'll understand. You're
[36:06] Speaker 1: living it in real time. You're not just reading about
[36:09] Speaker 1: it at the red seat. You're living it in real time.
[36:12] Speaker 1: Like when I was pulling out of that movie. The
[36:14] Speaker 1: boys were real little too. I Reckon Graham was eight,
[36:18] Speaker 1: alleged was eleven. Well, I'll never forget that movie was
[36:22] Speaker 1: so boring. So I was already in a bad mood
[36:25] Speaker 1: because it was boring movie. Why do the Christian movies
[36:27] Speaker 1: have to be boring so often? You know what I'm saying.
[36:29] Speaker 1: So I'm like mad at us as the Kingdom people
[36:31] Speaker 1: of God that we can't make a better movie. I'm
[36:33] Speaker 1: backing out the parking space and the man hanked at
[36:40] Speaker 1: me because I was backing out too slow, and he goes, hey, buddy,
[36:45] Speaker 1: we need your spot, you need my spot. Well, I
[36:52] Speaker 1: rolled down my automatic window. That's what I did then,
[36:56] Speaker 1: so he yells. Then I rolled down my window. And
[36:59] Speaker 1: I don't roll down my window for he yelled. That's
[37:00] Speaker 1: what I did in response as a consequence for his action,
[37:03] Speaker 1: to set a good example for my boys. And nobody
[37:05] Speaker 1: gets to hunk at you in a pickup truck without
[37:07] Speaker 1: you rolling down the window of your Maxima and letting
[37:09] Speaker 1: them know. It's not the size of the Maxima, it's
[37:11] Speaker 1: the size of the crazy inside of me. And we
[37:13] Speaker 1: can get it on right outside. I don't even care
[37:15] Speaker 1: if it's the Valentine Church parking lot. And I just
[37:18] Speaker 1: preached The Christian movie didn't save me that good. I
[37:25] Speaker 1: said what. That's why I said, And I could have
[37:29] Speaker 1: said some other four letter words. You'll ought to be
[37:31] Speaker 1: glad it was what. There were some other four letter
[37:35] Speaker 1: options circulating at that point in time. I said what,
[37:40] Speaker 1: and then he said another four letter word back to me.
[37:45] Speaker 1: Now I'm out the car. Now. At this point, I know, Officer,
[37:49] Speaker 1: this is bad. You almost got called to the movie
[37:52] Speaker 1: theater this day, Officer, I said, I said, what are.
[37:56] Speaker 3: We gonna do?
[37:58] Speaker 1: Right? Because I really didn't know either. But We're going
[38:03] Speaker 1: back and forth, and I'm like, it's trying to intimidate
[38:05] Speaker 1: h because I rely don't want to fight him, and
[38:06] Speaker 1: I'm trying to intimidate him. And I'm not playing any
[38:08] Speaker 1: of this out in my head too much. I'm just
[38:10] Speaker 1: doing it. And it's a red sea of sorts. Okay,
[38:14] Speaker 1: a little bit of a downgrade for the miracle. But
[38:17] Speaker 1: I'm back and forth with this guy, and all of
[38:19] Speaker 1: a sudden, I see Graham right beside me. He has
[38:23] Speaker 1: now gotten out of the car and joined his father
[38:24] Speaker 1: in this foolishness. In this volley.
[38:26] Speaker 3: It's a generational curse.
[38:28] Speaker 1: And Graham's standing there staring at the car, and when
[38:30] Speaker 1: the guy saw Graham, he kind of sobered up. He's like, hey, man,
[38:33] Speaker 1: you know what, let's just you know, let's just go
[38:36] Speaker 1: our separate ways. I was like, all right, all right
[38:39] Speaker 1: then that's what I thought. Then got back in the car.
[38:47] Speaker 1: I said, Graham, what were you going to do? Why'd
[38:52] Speaker 1: you come out in the car? He said, I was
[38:55] Speaker 1: going to see what happened. I said, well, what if
[38:57] Speaker 1: he wanted to fight, then, what would you do? He
[39:00] Speaker 1: said I was going to kick him, and he specified
[39:04] Speaker 1: where and it wasn't the shin bone. And he was, hey,
[39:07] Speaker 1: y'all pray for him. He said I would kick him
[39:12] Speaker 1: and I said huh. And Elijah was listening, and he goes,
[39:15] Speaker 1: the better question is Dad, what were you going to do?
[39:21] Speaker 1: The voice of reason right, I'm like, I don't know, son.
[39:26] Speaker 1: The Bible talks about prayer and delaying on of hands,
[39:31] Speaker 1: and they are both Biblical. I'm misinterpreting the text. See
[39:35] Speaker 1: I do it too. Okay, Well, he asked the question
[39:39] Speaker 1: where were you going to do? Then? He said, did
[39:41] Speaker 1: you even think about that? If you got in a fight,
[39:43] Speaker 1: we were going to be in the news. The church
[39:44] Speaker 1: was going to be in the news because you got
[39:46] Speaker 1: in a fight, And then did you ever think about
[39:48] Speaker 1: that you might go to jail? And then did you
[39:50] Speaker 1: ever think about that we might grow up without a dad?
[39:52] Speaker 3: See?
[39:53] Speaker 1: Because he's thinking, then watch this. All I'm thinking is this.
[40:00] Speaker 1: And it took an eleven year old for me to
[40:02] Speaker 1: be like, let's go get some Mexican food boys and
[40:06] Speaker 1: forget that ever happened. Don't tell your mama about UK.
[40:11] Speaker 1: So just don't mention this. And now I'm telling you
[40:15] Speaker 1: as an example. You see, it's not always going to
[40:17] Speaker 1: be some huge red sea moment that you're responding to.
[40:23] Speaker 1: It's going to be not a red sea but a
[40:24] Speaker 1: parking lot, traffic jam, a build that comes across something
[40:31] Speaker 1: the doctor saw on your lungs that they weren't planning
[40:33] Speaker 1: to see. What then? What then? The knowledge that your
[40:38] Speaker 1: marriage is not really doing so good, and now that
[40:41] Speaker 1: the kids are on their way out the house, maybe
[40:43] Speaker 1: you don't really have much to build on. What then?
[40:47] Speaker 1: And the way I like the picture it for myself
[40:49] Speaker 1: is like this. It's like if we're telling our story
[40:50] Speaker 1: one day and we're like, you know what, I went
[40:53] Speaker 1: through a horrible time twenty twenty six or wherever you're
[40:57] Speaker 1: watching this in the future, and I'm gonna be honest
[41:01] Speaker 1: with you. I got really disappointed in some people, and
[41:06] Speaker 1: I let it faster. Then I stopped going to church.
[41:09] Speaker 1: And then after not being in church for a little while,
[41:11] Speaker 1: I like filled the vacuum with other wrong people in
[41:14] Speaker 1: my life. And then and then and then it was drinking.
[41:17] Speaker 1: But I always I always thought that I could you know,
[41:19] Speaker 1: I can handle it, or or or then I just
[41:21] Speaker 1: you know, I started spending so much money as when
[41:23] Speaker 1: they try to fill the vacuum. Then I then I
[41:26] Speaker 1: thought so far from God. Then then then like put
[41:30] Speaker 1: it back up. How do you want this to end?
[41:33] Speaker 1: Because you can change the end. You could say that
[41:39] Speaker 1: was the hardest time in my life. I got really
[41:42] Speaker 1: hurt by some people. Then you get to pick the
[41:49] Speaker 1: then that you live. Next, I was going to church.
[41:58] Speaker 1: I got hurt by some people. But it it's amazing
[42:00] Speaker 1: because they got like five million campuses. So if you
[42:03] Speaker 1: want to leave the church, you can leave the church
[42:04] Speaker 1: without leaving the church. You just go to another campus
[42:05] Speaker 1: and meet some other people. When another campus, then I
[42:11] Speaker 1: joined the Greater Team. Did you want to see the
[42:13] Speaker 1: testimony today? The lady said, I felt like called to
[42:16] Speaker 1: volunteer then my husband volunteered. Then one of my kids
[42:19] Speaker 1: got baptized, then another one got baptized, then another one,
[42:23] Speaker 1: then another one, then another one, So which then which?
[42:27] Speaker 1: Then the Bible says, Then, Moses, you can change the end.
[42:32] Speaker 1: I can't change the fact that Pharaoh's chasing me, but
[42:35] Speaker 1: I can stretch what I have, and I can take
[42:37] Speaker 1: a forward step. Which then will you tell when you
[42:40] Speaker 1: tell the story one day? Which then will it? They
[42:45] Speaker 1: walked out in my life and then so I just
[42:46] Speaker 1: shut my heart off, and then I never loved again.
[42:48] Speaker 1: Then I never trusted anyone again, and then I just
[42:51] Speaker 1: gave up. What story did I want to tell you today?
[42:55] Speaker 1: The church was going good, and then they started criticizing us,
[42:58] Speaker 1: and it was twenty thirteen and and week after week
[43:01] Speaker 1: they kept talking bad about us, and then I decided,
[43:03] Speaker 1: you know what, forget y'all. If y'all don't appreciate my annoying,
[43:06] Speaker 1: I'm out of here. And I walked away from the church.
[43:08] Speaker 1: And that's why I don't even appreciate anymore, because I
[43:10] Speaker 1: can't stand Christians, or do you want to say? And
[43:16] Speaker 1: then they told the story of how we faked our baptisms,
[43:19] Speaker 1: And then I stood up in front of the church
[43:21] Speaker 1: one Sunday morning in twenty thirteen and said, tonight we're
[43:23] Speaker 1: going to have a special baptism service. And then we
[43:26] Speaker 1: baptized four hundred people that night, and then we baptized
[43:29] Speaker 1: a thousand people again the next year, and then and then,
[43:32] Speaker 1: and then, and then. It could have been the end.
[43:35] Speaker 1: Put it on the board, the end, d end, the end.
[43:38] Speaker 1: It could have been the end. But then, but then
[43:41] Speaker 1: it could have been the end. They could have died
[43:44] Speaker 1: right there. You could die in your disappointment.
[43:46] Speaker 3: Change it.
[43:47] Speaker 1: Then you can change the end with then something as
[43:51] Speaker 1: simple as a then. And if you don't believe me
[43:54] Speaker 1: from the life of Moses, perhaps we should call on David.
[43:58] Speaker 1: David who was the man after God's own heart, but
[44:02] Speaker 1: in the middle of his life he started to become
[44:04] Speaker 1: a little bit distracted by things that he saw and
[44:07] Speaker 1: weary from battles that he had endured. One day, he's
[44:11] Speaker 1: walking around his roof and sees a woman who's bathing
[44:13] Speaker 1: on her roof. He takes her, which he has the
[44:16] Speaker 1: right to do as a king legally, but it's wrong
[44:18] Speaker 1: to God. In the process of covering up that sin,
[44:22] Speaker 1: he sins again, has her husband murdered. And the prophet
[44:25] Speaker 1: comes to David and says, what you did is wrong.
[44:28] Speaker 1: God doesn't like what you did. God is displeased with
[44:31] Speaker 1: what you did. God does not see this as your
[44:34] Speaker 1: true potential. And so the baby is going to die.
[44:37] Speaker 1: David starts fasting, David starts praying, and it looks like
[44:40] Speaker 1: the end, and it is. The baby does not live.
[44:44] Speaker 1: And at this moment David has a decision. It is
[44:47] Speaker 1: a hinge decision. The baby did not live. The consequence
[44:51] Speaker 1: has happened. His prayer was not answered. And perhaps that's
[44:54] Speaker 1: where you are in your life today and why God
[44:56] Speaker 1: led me to preach you can change the end, because
[44:59] Speaker 1: in second Samuel twelve, verse twenty, the Bible says something
[45:03] Speaker 1: very powerful. Then David got up, and I see you
[45:10] Speaker 1: getting up today because I see you making a decision
[45:15] Speaker 1: that I will not let this event define the rest
[45:19] Speaker 1: of my life.
[45:20] Speaker 3: I did it. It was wrong.
[45:22] Speaker 1: I repented, I wept, I'm sorry. Created me a clean heart,
[45:27] Speaker 1: Oh God. Then David got up, circle the word then please,
[45:31] Speaker 1: so I can drive this home. David got up from
[45:34] Speaker 1: the ground, washed, put on lotions, changed his clothes, went
[45:39] Speaker 1: to the house of the Lord and worshiped. When he worshiped,
[45:42] Speaker 1: then he had the strength to go to his house,
[45:44] Speaker 1: and at his request, they served him food and he ate.
[45:48] Speaker 1: Verse twenty four is even better because after he got
[45:50] Speaker 1: up and washed and went to the house and worshiped
[45:54] Speaker 1: and ate, the Bible says again, Then David comforted his wife, Bethsheba,
[46:00] Speaker 1: and he went to her and made love to her,
[46:02] Speaker 1: and she gave birth to a son, and they named
[46:04] Speaker 1: him Solomon. And the Lord loved him, and that king
[46:07] Speaker 1: went on to be the greatest, most wise king that
[46:11] Speaker 1: Israel had known from David's worst decision. Then he got up.
[46:16] Speaker 1: Then he went in, and I came to let you
[46:19] Speaker 1: know today you don't have to stay stuck in your
[46:22] Speaker 1: regret another day if you don't want to. My hope
[46:25] Speaker 1: is built on nothing less then Jesus' blood and righteousness.
[46:30] Speaker 1: Then David got up, Make God contact with your neighbors,
[46:37] Speaker 1: say get up, get up, repent and get up, Wash
[46:41] Speaker 1: your face and get up, change your shirt and get up.
[46:44] Speaker 1: Say you're sorry and move forward. Then or perhaps sa,
[46:50] Speaker 1: if you don't believe David, you'll believe Samson. Maybe if
[46:56] Speaker 1: you don't believe me and you don't believe Moses, and
[47:00] Speaker 1: you don't believe David, and you feel like this is
[47:02] Speaker 1: the end for me. Maybe you believe Samson, who got
[47:06] Speaker 1: the most expensive haircut in the history of humanity, talk
[47:09] Speaker 1: about a hinge decision, a haircut turned into his eyes
[47:14] Speaker 1: being gouged out and the loss of his strength because
[47:17] Speaker 1: of the breaking of his vow. And Samson, with his
[47:20] Speaker 1: eyes gouged out, is standing in the column as they
[47:24] Speaker 1: worship Dagon, the false God, and they're mocking him. And
[47:27] Speaker 1: perhaps you feel like that right now, Like, man, I
[47:29] Speaker 1: just feel so embarrassed. I feel so humiliated. And Samson
[47:33] Speaker 1: at his lowest moment, you listening.
[47:35] Speaker 3: To me, I'm telling you can change.
[47:36] Speaker 1: The end, the Bible says in Judge sixteen twenty eight.
[47:39] Speaker 1: Then Samson prayed to the Lord, pray about it, baby,
[47:45] Speaker 1: It's not over. He prayed to the Lord, Sovereign, Lord,
[47:48] Speaker 1: remember me, Please, God strengthen me just once more and
[47:53] Speaker 1: let me, with one blow, get revenge on the Philistines
[47:56] Speaker 1: for my two eyes. And then Samson and reached, you
[48:01] Speaker 1: missed it justin. Then Samson reached, I'm telling you that
[48:06] Speaker 1: you get to pick your next. Then you get to
[48:08] Speaker 1: pick your next. Then You don't get to control the result,
[48:11] Speaker 1: but you control your response. You get to pick your next.
[48:15] Speaker 1: Then the result belongs to God, the response belongs to you.
[48:20] Speaker 1: And Samson mock can't see blind, humiliated, defeated, disgraced, embarrassed.
[48:26] Speaker 1: Then Samson reached toward the two central pillars on which
[48:30] Speaker 1: the temple stood, bracing himself against them, his right hand
[48:33] Speaker 1: on the one, put it on the screen the end,
[48:35] Speaker 1: and his left hand on the other.
[48:37] Speaker 3: The Bible says, change it.
[48:38] Speaker 1: Watch this, Sampson said, let me die with the Philistines.
[48:40] Speaker 1: Then he pushed with all his might, and down came
[48:44] Speaker 1: the temple of the false God, and down came the
[48:47] Speaker 1: verdict over his life that it was over, and down
[48:50] Speaker 1: came the temple. And thus he killed more when he
[48:53] Speaker 1: died than when he lived. It's not too late for you. Then,
[48:58] Speaker 1: then then what then shall you say? Then I gave up,
[49:05] Speaker 1: or then I stepped up, then I stayed down, or
[49:11] Speaker 1: then I got up. And maybe if you don't believe me,
[49:15] Speaker 1: or Moses or David or Samson, maybe you believe Peter.
[49:21] Speaker 1: Peter denied he even knew the Lord. He sat down
[49:23] Speaker 1: by the fire and acted like he wasn't even a
[49:25] Speaker 1: follower of his best friend. You can feel like you
[49:30] Speaker 1: disappointed God, sometimes so bad that you'll never get up.
[49:33] Speaker 1: But I thank God for the Day of pentecov I said,
[49:37] Speaker 1: I thank God for Acts Chapter two, I thank God
[49:40] Speaker 1: for Romans eight thirty one. What then, because Acts two
[49:44] Speaker 1: fourteen says, then Peter stood up. Everybody, stand up on
[49:49] Speaker 1: your feet right now. This is your part in the message.
[49:53] Speaker 1: Hit your neighbors, say stand up. God's not done with you.
[49:56] Speaker 3: Get up.
[49:57] Speaker 1: It's not over.
[49:58] Speaker 3: Get up, it's not gone, it's not lost. And Peter
[50:02] Speaker 3: preached so good.
[50:03] Speaker 1: That three thousand people got saved because he stood out.
[50:13] Speaker 1: Maybe if you don't believe Peter, you'll believe the thief
[50:19] Speaker 1: who was hanging on a cross. He didn't do anything
[50:23] Speaker 1: right to deserve to be saved. His friend was mocking Jesus.
[50:28] Speaker 1: But he had a little bit of faith, just a
[50:31] Speaker 1: little bit of faith, not enough to get his act together.
[50:34] Speaker 1: He didn't even have long left.
[50:36] Speaker 3: For all of you who think that there's not enough time,
[50:38] Speaker 3: you can change the end. Because the Bible.
[50:41] Speaker 1: Says that while one hurled insults and one said save us, if.
[50:46] Speaker 3: You're really who you say you are.
[50:48] Speaker 1: There was one thief on the cross, and there was
[50:51] Speaker 1: one then that he spoke, and this is the message.
[50:55] Speaker 3: Then he said, Jesus, when.
[50:59] Speaker 1: You say Jesus, I don't care what you've been through.
[51:03] Speaker 3: When you say Jesus, when.
[51:05] Speaker 1: You call on the name, come on, somebody, come.
[51:08] Speaker 3: Be preached us.
[51:09] Speaker 1: When you say Jesus, Demons flee. When you say Jesus,
[51:14] Speaker 1: waters dart. When you say Jesus, he said, Jesus, remember
[51:26] Speaker 1: me when you come in your kingdom. Jesus looked back
[51:29] Speaker 1: and said, because you said, then, I say to you truly,
[51:32] Speaker 1: I tell you today you will be with me in Paradise.
[51:36] Speaker 1: And the Egyptians you see today you will see no
[51:39] Speaker 1: more because of this. Then, now the word of the
[51:44] Speaker 1: Lord has come with power and velocity and great personal
[51:48] Speaker 1: application to you today. What will you do with this word?
[51:52] Speaker 1: You are responsible for him that in real time the
[51:58] Speaker 1: familiar sounds of Pharaoh behind me. That's the old life,
[52:02] Speaker 1: the unfamiliar terrain of the life of faith that awakes you.
[52:05] Speaker 1: This is a hinge moment. What then shall you say?
[52:15] Speaker 1: You know, I spent years away from God. Then one
[52:17] Speaker 1: day I went to church and the preacher was preaching,
[52:22] Speaker 1: and it got to this moment and I realized I
[52:25] Speaker 1: need God. I need God and I and I lifted
[52:32] Speaker 1: my hands to him, and I began to worship him,
[52:37] Speaker 1: and I began to praise him, and I said, God,
[52:40] Speaker 1: I'm sorry for what I did. I repented my sins,
[52:42] Speaker 1: but God, can you raise me up? And because of that,
[52:45] Speaker 1: then it changed the end. And that's why I'm here today.
[52:51] Speaker 1: That's why I'm lifting both of my hands. Play God.
[52:55] Speaker 3: I'm just grateful.
[52:57] Speaker 1: That's why I'm lifting both of my hands.
[53:00] Speaker 3: He gave me tad after tad after test. Come on,
[53:09] Speaker 3: this is not the This is not the.
[53:15] Speaker 1: Get up like David and warsa right, Jorge s up.
[53:19] Speaker 3: Like stuffing a post.
[53:22] Speaker 1: Like Peter stand up and great like the Big Bumble Cross.
[53:27] Speaker 3: Thank Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.
