[0:15] Speaker 2: Hey, welcome back to gun Talk. Tom Gresham here, give
[0:17] Speaker 2: me a holler. Of course, it's easy to call you,
[0:19] Speaker 2: and you know, just call me a Tom Talk gun
[0:21] Speaker 2: We're looking at what's going on getting ready for well
[0:25] Speaker 2: the summer season, because people do a lot of shooting
[0:27] Speaker 2: in the summer. Well, I'm here to tell you it's
[0:30] Speaker 2: not too early to start thinking about fall as well,
[0:33] Speaker 2: because if you got something to get ready for the
[0:35] Speaker 2: fall hunting season, we got to talk about that and
[0:38] Speaker 2: to talk about a lot of that and one of
[0:40] Speaker 2: the coolest products, frankly that came out a shot show
[0:43] Speaker 2: where people are going that is amazing. We're joined by
[0:46] Speaker 2: Jerry Grove, also known as Box. How you doing, my friend?
[0:50] Speaker 3: I am doing great? Tom.
[0:52] Speaker 2: Well, all right, so you guys at the Shot Show launched, Well,
[0:57] Speaker 2: you had to play copter out and then you had
[0:59] Speaker 2: the hand thrower and the cool different targets. If you would,
[1:04] Speaker 2: Let's back up, don't assume that everybody knows what we're
[1:06] Speaker 2: talking about, because this is like, for I want to say,
[1:10] Speaker 2: for clay target shooters, but it's not clay targets. It's
[1:13] Speaker 2: a it's a flying target that you should let's call
[1:16] Speaker 2: it this. It's a flying target you shoot with the shotgun.
[1:18] Speaker 4: How's that's that's a pretty pretty good description.
[1:22] Speaker 3: It's a what we like to say is a new
[1:24] Speaker 3: way to clay.
[1:26] Speaker 2: A new way to clay. It's a thing spins up.
[1:28] Speaker 2: It's got its own little circle with wings, and you
[1:32] Speaker 2: pull the trigger on it and shoot it like a gun.
[1:34] Speaker 2: And this thing goes firing out there, and I mean,
[1:37] Speaker 2: how far is the farthest you can get this thing?
[1:40] Speaker 4: To go with the clay copper targets. You're right, Tom,
[1:44] Speaker 4: they're a spinning target, and the fastest speed there's different
[1:48] Speaker 4: speed settings. At fifteen thousand RPMs, we can get about
[1:52] Speaker 4: one hundred yards on one of those there and there again,
[1:56] Speaker 4: like the way we say a new way to clay,
[1:58] Speaker 4: if you haven't seen one, they're kind of hard to describe,
[2:01] Speaker 4: but imagine almost like the toy that kids have where
[2:05] Speaker 4: they pull the string and the helicopter thing spins up
[2:08] Speaker 4: and the problems.
[2:09] Speaker 2: Yes, it is very that.
[2:12] Speaker 4: And uh but we we really wanted to. I mean,
[2:15] Speaker 4: clay pigeons are over one hundred and fifty years old.
[2:18] Speaker 4: You know, they were trying to find something besides the
[2:21] Speaker 4: birds and glass balls to shoot.
[2:23] Speaker 3: So and uh, you know that's been around a long time.
[2:26] Speaker 4: But we're kind of trying to think of what's the
[2:28] Speaker 4: next thing, what's something to what to how to answer
[2:31] Speaker 4: the some of the pain points of the durability the
[2:36] Speaker 4: transport of a clay pigeons.
[2:38] Speaker 2: Those cases of clay targets are heavy and shipping those
[2:41] Speaker 2: around is a beast and then you got to store
[2:43] Speaker 2: them and everything else and.
[2:45] Speaker 3: You get a lot of breakage.
[2:47] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, good point.
[2:49] Speaker 4: So we we were like, well, portability with a clay thrower,
[2:53] Speaker 4: the target, the launcher, all that's a concern. Uh, easy use,
[2:57] Speaker 4: like pulling springs and heavy springs and stuff. And so
[3:01] Speaker 4: there's been several attempts at a different type of target
[3:05] Speaker 4: and spending props for nothing new. And you know, if
[3:08] Speaker 4: you're really really deep into into shotguns shooting, like like
[3:11] Speaker 4: I am, you know we've shot heelis or zz bird
[3:14] Speaker 4: or whatever you want to call it for a long
[3:16] Speaker 4: time but that that's really really expensive and you have
[3:21] Speaker 4: to have dedicated basically a dedicated range, and there's no
[3:25] Speaker 4: portability to it in the and you know, talking through
[3:27] Speaker 4: the whole thing, and it's like, guys, if you can't
[3:29] Speaker 4: make a target system that the consumer can go get
[3:35] Speaker 4: the consumable part of it, the target where they currently
[3:39] Speaker 4: buy their clay pigeons, then then it's gonna be a
[3:42] Speaker 4: really hard sell. And luckily we worked through all that.
[3:45] Speaker 4: We came up with a target that's made out of
[3:46] Speaker 4: a biodegradable material. They're there, they appear to be plastic,
[3:51] Speaker 4: but I want to be very very clear, they are
[3:53] Speaker 4: not plastic. They're made out of plant starch with some
[3:56] Speaker 4: mineral ground up mineral in them to give them some weight.
[4:00] Speaker 4: They're biodegradable, they're all independently certified, they're non toxic. Very
[4:05] Speaker 4: good that everybody's concerned about plastics these days. But truth
[4:08] Speaker 4: of the matter is the plastic that goes down range
[4:10] Speaker 4: when we're shooting is from the shotgun waden, not from
[4:13] Speaker 4: our target.
[4:14] Speaker 3: Okay, well, there's no classic in that.
[4:16] Speaker 2: And people want to take a look at this Caldwell
[4:17] Speaker 2: Shooting dot com that can see all they need and
[4:20] Speaker 2: there's lots of videos now, but you know you started
[4:22] Speaker 2: with one launcher. Now you got multiple different types of launchers.
[4:26] Speaker 4: So two years at SHOT we showed the original with
[4:28] Speaker 4: the handheld with a battery, right huge, man, so cool.
[4:33] Speaker 3: See how fast it took off. We knew at Shot show.
[4:36] Speaker 4: That year from everybody's feedback, we already had I had
[4:39] Speaker 4: like a five year roadmap. Our execs for saw the excitement.
[4:43] Speaker 4: Our sales team got all the excitement from the buyers,
[4:45] Speaker 4: and they said, we're gonna do all of it right now,
[4:48] Speaker 4: and we're gonna watch it next year's Shot, which I
[4:50] Speaker 4: was like, I thought was very very aggressive, but we put.
[4:54] Speaker 2: You think it okay, we think we can do this, boss.
[4:58] Speaker 2: Thanks ye.
[5:00] Speaker 4: Taking all the all the consumer feedback, and the consumer
[5:04] Speaker 4: feedback kind of just reaffirmed what we were already thinking.
[5:08] Speaker 4: We came up with two new launchers and three new targets.
[5:11] Speaker 4: This year, we came up with another handheld that's strict,
[5:14] Speaker 4: pure mechanical.
[5:16] Speaker 3: We call Launcher, no battery, no batteries.
[5:18] Speaker 2: Got like a your pull cord like you would on
[5:20] Speaker 2: the lawnmower.
[5:22] Speaker 4: Exactly exactly yet just a pull cord just like your lawnmower,
[5:26] Speaker 4: and we can throw targets, you know.
[5:28] Speaker 3: Easily sixty to eighty yards with that.
[5:31] Speaker 4: The great thing about that that's going to be somewhere
[5:34] Speaker 4: under one hundred dollars. I've been seeing some of those
[5:37] Speaker 4: on our MSRPs ninety nine to ninety nine street retail
[5:40] Speaker 4: on that.
[5:40] Speaker 3: Is somewhere around ninety dollars.
[5:42] Speaker 4: So a great way if you're if you don't shoot
[5:43] Speaker 4: a lot and you don't want to spend the two
[5:46] Speaker 4: hundred dollars that the electric one is, here's a way
[5:49] Speaker 4: to experience it, test it out, see if you really
[5:52] Speaker 4: like it. It's something that you're gonna, you know, stick with,
[5:54] Speaker 4: and then you can upgrade. The thing that has everybody
[5:58] Speaker 4: really excited. And the thing that that I thought was
[6:00] Speaker 4: going to take us years and years to develop is
[6:03] Speaker 4: a launcher. Will call them the surface to air and
[6:06] Speaker 4: it is a battery launcher, but it sits on the
[6:08] Speaker 4: ground and holds fifty targets in a stack and so
[6:13] Speaker 4: that will feed and you can remote launch it.
[6:17] Speaker 2: With a remote so you can kind of think of
[6:20] Speaker 2: it as like a traditional clay target thrower. The way
[6:24] Speaker 2: you can stack them up and it's over there and
[6:26] Speaker 2: you're over here.
[6:28] Speaker 4: So one of the cool things is that uses an app,
[6:30] Speaker 4: a free app, and you can bluetooth to your phone
[6:33] Speaker 4: and then you can control up to ten devices. You
[6:37] Speaker 4: can launch them from up to one hundred yards away,
[6:40] Speaker 4: and you can do a cool feature. One of my
[6:42] Speaker 4: favorites is touch to launch, where you take a picture
[6:46] Speaker 4: of the downrange and wherever you tap on the screen
[6:49] Speaker 4: is where it will aim and fire the targets. So
[6:53] Speaker 4: it does really cool stuff like that. And then also
[6:56] Speaker 4: that I don't think that anybody can really do on
[6:59] Speaker 4: their own property is it has a UV light built
[7:01] Speaker 4: into the head and we make a glow in the
[7:03] Speaker 4: dark target and the lights charge it, so you can
[7:07] Speaker 4: go out on your own property and shoot these glue
[7:10] Speaker 4: in the dark plays. It's becoming pretty popular at at
[7:13] Speaker 4: Sporting at Sporting Clays.
[7:15] Speaker 2: Range, right, so you can shoots.
[7:17] Speaker 4: Yeah, that requires special lights, right and all sorts of
[7:20] Speaker 4: like stadium whites basically, and.
[7:23] Speaker 2: This is a UV light that charges the phosphorescent if
[7:27] Speaker 2: you will, in the target and then it fires and
[7:30] Speaker 2: you can see this thing glowing going across.
[7:32] Speaker 4: The sky exactly and when you hit them, they explode
[7:37] Speaker 4: like fireworks.
[7:38] Speaker 2: Box you know, I've seen two reactions, and almost always
[7:43] Speaker 2: you get the same two reactions when people see this.
[7:45] Speaker 2: The first time they see a target go, it's like wow,
[7:49] Speaker 2: that's fast.
[7:51] Speaker 3: Wow.
[7:51] Speaker 2: I mean it's like I better get on my game here.
[7:54] Speaker 2: And then the second reaction is people start giggling. It's
[7:59] Speaker 2: like this, this is insane, this is so much fun.
[8:02] Speaker 2: And then of course you go down to the gun
[8:06] Speaker 2: Talk studio said, you're in the studio there, you're trying
[8:08] Speaker 2: to demo this thing. And I don't know if you
[8:10] Speaker 2: met too or what happened, but you let one go
[8:13] Speaker 2: inside the studio. This target is bouncing off of studio
[8:15] Speaker 2: lights and going all over the place. It was like
[8:18] Speaker 2: a scene out of a movie. Man.
[8:20] Speaker 4: Yeah, we we may or may not.
[8:23] Speaker 3: That was a genuine reaction.
[8:25] Speaker 4: We we tried it on the low setting, and I
[8:28] Speaker 4: was like, I don't know, and we'll just say.
[8:30] Speaker 3: kJ did it. Yeah it wasn't.
[8:34] Speaker 5: It wasn't.
[8:34] Speaker 2: Mere Ryan, that'd be typical. He says, go ahead and
[8:37] Speaker 2: said it to high. Let's see what happens.
[8:38] Speaker 3: Right, It might have went one notch too many on
[8:41] Speaker 3: the old speed control of it. Yeah, oh god.
[8:45] Speaker 4: The camera guys are fast on their feet though, in
[8:47] Speaker 4: their own credit getting out of.
[8:49] Speaker 3: The way they dodged is pretty good.
[8:52] Speaker 2: Well, it is an amazing technology, and for anybody that
[8:55] Speaker 2: likes to shoot shotguns, I would say, take a look
[8:58] Speaker 2: at it and oh yeah. The main thing is that
[8:59] Speaker 2: they want to get out is Yeah, he announced it
[9:02] Speaker 2: the shot Show. Everybod kept saying, well, where is it?
[9:04] Speaker 2: When can I get it? Well, the answer is they
[9:06] Speaker 2: are shipping right now, and in a week or so
[9:09] Speaker 2: they'll be at dealers. Right.
[9:11] Speaker 4: I was so happy last week to come in and
[9:14] Speaker 4: see shipments coming through the warehouse and receiving in and
[9:17] Speaker 4: processing and going through QC and going out and everything
[9:21] Speaker 4: is going just right according to plants.
[9:23] Speaker 3: And we're hoping around May first.
[9:26] Speaker 4: The dealers, the retailers are still start having them in
[9:29] Speaker 4: their shelves on their websites for order. We got them
[9:33] Speaker 4: here for May, just in time for the nice weather.
[9:35] Speaker 2: Yeah exactly. I would just tell people, look, if you're
[9:38] Speaker 2: still trying to figure out what we're talking about, honestly,
[9:40] Speaker 2: the best way to go is to go look at
[9:42] Speaker 2: the videos. There are a lot of videos of them online.
[9:44] Speaker 2: We've got them over at our gun Talk website, but
[9:46] Speaker 2: you can go to callwell shooting dot com and look
[9:49] Speaker 2: at the demos there. It's an amazing technology and I
[9:53] Speaker 2: am just excited with what you guys have done.
[9:55] Speaker 4: Yeah, it's been It's been one of my funnest, funnest
[9:58] Speaker 4: things I've ever got to do well.
[10:00] Speaker 2: And the other thing is that before we go, I
[10:01] Speaker 2: got to say that, Look, we're heading into summer, before
[10:05] Speaker 2: you know it, we're we heading into fall, and a
[10:07] Speaker 2: lot of people wait till the last minute to get
[10:09] Speaker 2: their guns ready to tune things up. And you guys
[10:12] Speaker 2: have products for cleaning guns for reloading and the precision
[10:15] Speaker 2: shooting we were talking about earlier is that everybody's trying
[10:18] Speaker 2: to make better AMMO. I want to say something here
[10:20] Speaker 2: that I haven't mentioned on the air, and I recently
[10:23] Speaker 2: I'm not going to name the company, but I was
[10:26] Speaker 2: recently shooting some AMMO from a brand name company and
[10:29] Speaker 2: it was terrible. I mean, we're talking about some really
[10:32] Speaker 2: lousy accuracy out of what you would normally think it
[10:35] Speaker 2: was really good AMMO. And so what I'm just going
[10:38] Speaker 2: to say that to encourage people to don't assume that
[10:41] Speaker 2: because it is a major brand that you're getting good ammo.
[10:44] Speaker 2: You've got to go out and test it and shoot
[10:46] Speaker 2: it and honestly box. It's the reason that a lot
[10:49] Speaker 2: of people reload their own AMMO.
[10:51] Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, I mean that's kind of seems to be
[10:54] Speaker 4: the natural lifestyle. Right as we start, we start with
[10:58] Speaker 4: factory ammo, you have to buy a bunch of different ones,
[11:01] Speaker 4: as one load doesn't always work in every gun every time.
[11:05] Speaker 4: It's a little but to here, and then you're kind
[11:07] Speaker 4: of at the you're at the mercy of the manufacturer
[11:10] Speaker 4: to say you will shoot this bullet at this with
[11:14] Speaker 4: this set up, with.
[11:14] Speaker 3: This powder, with this speed. Well what if you don't
[11:18] Speaker 3: want that combo but you like that.
[11:20] Speaker 4: Bullet or you like that that uh, that's not the
[11:23] Speaker 4: accuracy node for your out.
[11:24] Speaker 3: Well that's what I love.
[11:25] Speaker 4: About reloading tom is that I get to pick and
[11:28] Speaker 4: tune myself, you know, and make all the make the
[11:33] Speaker 4: whole system uh work, not not just try to randomly
[11:39] Speaker 4: fit the pieces into the puzzles.
[11:41] Speaker 3: You get to build the piece, I guess.
[11:42] Speaker 2: Yeah, So I just kind of want to put that
[11:44] Speaker 2: be in people's bodies. Look, go out and shoot it
[11:46] Speaker 2: with the AMO that you're going to hunt with, and
[11:48] Speaker 2: make sure that that combo of that AMMO and your
[11:52] Speaker 2: rifle work. Well, if they don't change something, yeah, you
[11:54] Speaker 2: might get into reloading it might even try something else.
[11:57] Speaker 2: And I also want to just drive them to call well,
[11:59] Speaker 2: because you guys make all sorts of stuff for shooting.
[12:02] Speaker 2: And of course you've got your family companies. I guess
[12:05] Speaker 2: you want to run through just the names of some
[12:07] Speaker 2: of the other companies in your family there.
[12:10] Speaker 4: Yeah, so the holding company, we're American outdoor brands, and
[12:15] Speaker 4: so I'll do the marketing for what we call our
[12:18] Speaker 4: shooting brands.
[12:19] Speaker 3: So Calviell is the big one.
[12:21] Speaker 4: I also have a wheeler which is the fat wrench,
[12:24] Speaker 4: and all the tools, the gunsmithing tools, your optics mounting
[12:28] Speaker 4: and all that tipton which is your cleaning. I say,
[12:32] Speaker 4: good clean rifle, need that to shoot at. And then
[12:35] Speaker 4: frankfort Arsenal, which is the reloading. On the other side
[12:38] Speaker 4: of the business, we have our hunting side, which is bogs,
[12:43] Speaker 4: so the tripods, the bog death grips and those are
[12:47] Speaker 4: really what they're known for. We have Hui Man, which
[12:50] Speaker 4: is like limb sauce spreaders, more of the food plot
[12:55] Speaker 4: land management stuff. We also have several nights brands. We
[13:00] Speaker 4: own a charade old timer. We have the license for
[13:07] Speaker 4: Smith and Weston Cutlery, so we do quite a bit
[13:10] Speaker 4: of cutlery stuff, Uncle Henry. There's several brands on the
[13:14] Speaker 4: culory side. We have a grill company named Grilla Grills
[13:18] Speaker 4: and another one that we started. We started a brand
[13:20] Speaker 4: called Meat several years ago. That's all game processing.
[13:24] Speaker 2: It is barbecue time right now.
[13:26] Speaker 3: Oh it's barbecue time. Oh yeah, great time.
[13:31] Speaker 4: Well we also, Man, I'll be in trouble if I
[13:33] Speaker 4: don't mention we got a fishing brand named Bubba, so
[13:37] Speaker 4: file at knife since they do these smart scales.
[13:40] Speaker 3: And all that stuff.
[13:41] Speaker 4: Okay, So I say, if there's an outdoor activity, we're
[13:45] Speaker 4: probably in it, and if we're not, we're probably considered.
[13:49] Speaker 2: We're about to get into it. People have got to
[13:51] Speaker 2: go look at the clay Copera. It's one of the
[13:52] Speaker 2: I mean, seriously, here's one of the coolest, most fun
[13:55] Speaker 2: things I've seen in a while.
[13:57] Speaker 3: Man, everybody's really excited about it.
[14:00] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[14:00] Speaker 3: I think if you go look at it's worth your time.
[14:03] Speaker 2: Box. I appreciate your time, my friend.
[14:05] Speaker 3: Awesome. Always great talking to you, Tom.
[14:06] Speaker 2: And you take care all right? Coming up in handguns,

[16:23] Speaker 2: your gear that's on the ground. That's what you're not
[16:25] Speaker 2: going to have in a fight.
[16:26] Speaker 3: Gun talk should be in your podcast feed. Check out
[16:29] Speaker 3: gun Talk Nation.
[16:31] Speaker 2: What's it like to be blown up?
[16:32] Speaker 7: You know, if it's like C four, it's almost like
[16:35] Speaker 7: a smack hunting.
[16:36] Speaker 6: Yeah, we talk about that too on your crosshairs.
[16:40] Speaker 2: I like a thin crosshair. A.
[16:42] Speaker 3: You're really dating yourself by calling things crosshairs. You're redical.
[16:45] Speaker 2: Whatever.
[16:46] Speaker 6: Have some fun and stay informed with the gun Talk podcast.
[17:03] Speaker 2: Just think about that interview with Box talking about the
[17:06] Speaker 2: clay copper. We were out Friday. I guess, yeah, a
[17:11] Speaker 2: couple of days ago on the hillside behind the house here,
[17:14] Speaker 2: I say hillside. We got a mountain bind a house
[17:17] Speaker 2: and we were shooting pistols. But we found this area.
[17:20] Speaker 2: We said, you know, we could throw clays here, and
[17:23] Speaker 2: I'm looking at it going actually, we could use a
[17:26] Speaker 2: clay copper here. So this week I'm going to shoot
[17:30] Speaker 2: it out to the Box and say, hey, I need one
[17:33] Speaker 2: of those things, and I need a good supply targets.
[17:35] Speaker 2: We're going to give it a test run out here,
[17:37] Speaker 2: a T and E if you will, so a test
[17:39] Speaker 2: and evaluation. So we're going to be shooting some of
[17:41] Speaker 2: that up here. That's where we were back there, shooting
[17:43] Speaker 2: to different pistols. I took that one commander sized pistol.
[17:48] Speaker 2: I just wanted to run a lot of rounds through it.
[17:49] Speaker 2: To probably put one hundred rounds through it. There is
[17:54] Speaker 2: a real difference in recoil from a lightweight Commander forty
[17:58] Speaker 2: five to a full sized steel. The full sized steel
[18:02] Speaker 2: is just kind of a it's not a pussy cat
[18:04] Speaker 2: like a nine, because a full sized steel nineteen eleven
[18:08] Speaker 2: and nine shoots so sweet and you definitely have more recoil. Well,
[18:12] Speaker 2: think about it this way. In the forty five, I'm
[18:15] Speaker 2: using regular ball AMMO two hundred and thirty grain bullet
[18:19] Speaker 2: in the nine. For typically for practice, AMO, your bullet
[18:24] Speaker 2: is one hundred and fifteen grains. It is half the weight.
[18:29] Speaker 2: The forty five store a bullet that has twice the weight,
[18:33] Speaker 2: So you're going to get a significant increase in recoil,
[18:36] Speaker 2: just no getting around it. And I know going in, yeah,
[18:39] Speaker 2: I'm gonna go shoot this thing at gun site. We're
[18:41] Speaker 2: going to do five days of shooting with these, and
[18:44] Speaker 2: it would be more comfortable and I would have faster
[18:47] Speaker 2: recovery time if I was shooting nine. I get that,
[18:51] Speaker 2: but I'm not in competition and I'm not working a timer,
[18:55] Speaker 2: and you know, yeah, you're always kind of in competition.
[18:58] Speaker 2: You want to do as well or better than other
[19:00] Speaker 2: people in the class. But I also just like the
[19:04] Speaker 2: idea of shooting the forty five. This goes back to
[19:06] Speaker 2: what I was talking about earlier. Sometimes I carry a
[19:08] Speaker 2: gun not necessarily because it's the best, but just because
[19:12] Speaker 2: it's what I want to carry that day. Sometimes it's
[19:15] Speaker 2: a revolver, Well, why would you do that? Well, sometimes
[19:18] Speaker 2: I've got a seven shot three fifty seven magnum three
[19:21] Speaker 2: inch barrel. I just think that'd be a good gun
[19:24] Speaker 2: to carry today, and I could probably solve most problems
[19:27] Speaker 2: with that. There aren't a whole lot of self defense
[19:29] Speaker 2: issues I can't solve with that. So and look, I understand,
[19:35] Speaker 2: I completely admit that my approach to this doesn't make
[19:39] Speaker 2: a whole lot of sense. Sometimes I'm carrying a micro nine.
[19:44] Speaker 2: Sometimes I'm carrying a full size nine. Sometimes it's a
[19:47] Speaker 2: full size or compact forty five nineteen eleven or a
[19:50] Speaker 2: nine milevater of nineteen eleven, or a bigger revolver, or
[19:57] Speaker 2: you're a small revolver. I don't know. It's the thing.
[20:04] Speaker 2: I just I like these different guns, and they're they're fun.
[20:07] Speaker 2: I gotta go check my AMMO and look, I know,
[20:11] Speaker 2: and I gotta look into this. I don't have it.
[20:14] Speaker 2: But there is forty five ACPMO that is has the
[20:20] Speaker 2: lighterweight bullets you can get two hundred grains. You can
[20:22] Speaker 2: give you a one hundred eighty five grain semi wade
[20:24] Speaker 2: cutters if I switch to those, and I gotta go
[20:28] Speaker 2: back and make sure that they will run my gun,
[20:29] Speaker 2: because if you have less recoil less motion of your slide,
[20:34] Speaker 2: if you will slide velosity, there's the possible ability that
[20:38] Speaker 2: your gun won't run reliably. So i'd have to check
[20:41] Speaker 2: that out. So we'll see if I can find some.
[20:43] Speaker 2: I probably would grab some, just because I'm thinking about
[20:47] Speaker 2: five days of shooting full house for two hundred and
[20:51] Speaker 2: thirty green bullets. I mean, I'm ready to do it.
[20:53] Speaker 2: I'm gonna do it. That's the AMMO I have available.
[20:55] Speaker 2: But there you go. So we're gonna have some fun
[20:57] Speaker 2: doing that. I'm gonna drive our way down to Arizona,
[21:01] Speaker 2: stop it along the way and goofing off some friends going.
[21:04] Speaker 2: So that'll be a fun. It's a shooting safari if
[21:08] Speaker 2: you will. What a fun idea. Let's get together. Let's
[21:13] Speaker 2: go drive, stop along the way, do some fun stuff.
[21:16] Speaker 2: Go to a shooting school somewhere and look, it could
[21:19] Speaker 2: be gun side, it could be our place down in Louisiana.
[21:22] Speaker 2: Range Ready, we've got some really good classes coming up
[21:24] Speaker 2: by the way, oh oh oh, and be sure be
[21:27] Speaker 2: sure to go over to range ready Studios dot com
[21:30] Speaker 2: and sign up for the email newsletter because we're going
[21:34] Speaker 2: to have some more of these special classes that usually
[21:36] Speaker 2: sell out in like two or three days. If you
[21:39] Speaker 2: wait a week to go back and look at the website,
[21:42] Speaker 2: it'll probably be full. These are the crazy ones we
[21:44] Speaker 2: do with gun companies, where they may be maybe introducing
[21:49] Speaker 2: a new product, maybe it says happened in the past.
[21:53] Speaker 2: When you sign up for the class, not only do
[21:55] Speaker 2: you get to shoot the new product, you get to
[21:57] Speaker 2: keep the new product. Yeah, just handle some like maybe optics,
[22:01] Speaker 2: maybe holsters. I don't know who knows. I'm not allowed
[22:04] Speaker 2: to talk about it except that I just did. No
[22:08] Speaker 2: Bo's the boss to me. I'm don Gresha. This is
[22:11] Speaker 2: gut Taller. Be a part of it. Give me a
[22:13] Speaker 2: shout those let's hear those range reports eight sixty six
[22:17] Speaker 2: talk guys, all right, it's time for you to be
[22:25] Speaker 2: involved here. We're looking for range reports. What have you
[22:28] Speaker 2: been shooting? What have you been looking at? What do
[22:30] Speaker 2: you think it about? Buying number here is pretty easy.
[22:34] Speaker 2: Just call me a Tom talk gun that'll get you in.
[22:37] Speaker 2: Matt did that? He's in North Dakota. Hey, Matt, what's
[22:39] Speaker 2: going on?
[22:41] Speaker 9: Yes, sir had a range report for you.
[22:44] Speaker 2: Please okay, alrighty.
[22:47] Speaker 9: I was shooting one of my ars at outdoor range
[22:52] Speaker 9: that we have here, and I was shooting at fifty
[22:56] Speaker 9: yards and enjoying the peaceful night. But I need some
[23:01] Speaker 9: advice on handling range etiquette. I had a situation where
[23:07] Speaker 9: I was shooting at fifty yards and we have a
[23:12] Speaker 9: fifty excuse me, we have twenty five fifty yard one
[23:16] Speaker 9: hundred and two hundred. I was shooting at fifty and
[23:21] Speaker 9: a new shooter who was excitedly talking about shooting trapped
[23:27] Speaker 9: his first time. We have that on at the club also.
[23:32] Speaker 9: But then he opened a rifle case and was going
[23:36] Speaker 9: to shoot across me. He was on my right. He
[23:39] Speaker 9: was going to shoot across me at the twenty five
[23:41] Speaker 9: yard target. So I politely called cease fire and made
[23:50] Speaker 9: sure he had his ear protection, and I said, would
[23:53] Speaker 9: you please move over to my left so you can
[23:57] Speaker 9: shoot at twenty five and I can continue at fifty.
[24:01] Speaker 9: And I was polite, and he was a young man
[24:04] Speaker 9: and his girlfriend, But how do you handle something like
[24:08] Speaker 9: that as it pops up.
[24:09] Speaker 2: Again top, Well, what was his reaction?
[24:13] Speaker 9: He was a little bit shocked, I think, and he said, Okay,
[24:18] Speaker 9: I'm just so excited. I'm just so excited that I
[24:21] Speaker 9: didn't know the rules.
[24:23] Speaker 2: And that's okay. Honestly, it sounds to me like you
[24:29] Speaker 2: handled really well. It's like, okay, I'm not mad and
[24:31] Speaker 2: I'm going to yell at you, just say, hey, if
[24:33] Speaker 2: I stopped for a second, let's get this sort of out.
[24:35] Speaker 2: If you're gonna be shooting at the target on the left,
[24:37] Speaker 2: you need to be to the left of me. So,
[24:40] Speaker 2: I mean, it's probably not a safety issue, but it
[24:44] Speaker 2: doesn't make any sense for him to be shooting across
[24:46] Speaker 2: your line of fire. And he didn't clearly he didn't know.
[24:50] Speaker 2: And I think you did a really good job with it.
[24:51] Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know there's anything I could suggest
[24:54] Speaker 2: to do any better.
[24:56] Speaker 3: Okay, yep.
[24:57] Speaker 9: I always want to be polite, whether going to the
[25:00] Speaker 9: range or at the range or leaving the range, because
[25:05] Speaker 9: it's a plight. What is it? An armed society is
[25:08] Speaker 9: a plight society? Was that the quote?
[25:11] Speaker 2: That is the quote?
[25:13] Speaker 3: Now?
[25:13] Speaker 2: Having said that, and I know you know this, If
[25:16] Speaker 2: it was a true immediate safety issue, then that's the
[25:20] Speaker 2: time to be a good bit more forcefull of you.
[25:23] Speaker 2: Cease fire, stop, stop stop, you know, and so you know,
[25:26] Speaker 2: but it doesn't sound like it was that kind of
[25:27] Speaker 2: a thing. It was just sorting it all out, yes, sir,
[25:32] Speaker 2: Well no, I think you did a great job, and
[25:34] Speaker 2: you know, you were a good ambassador for shooting. And
[25:36] Speaker 2: you got this young person. And the other thing is
[25:39] Speaker 2: he's got his girlfriend. You don't want to embarrass him
[25:41] Speaker 2: in front of his girlfriend. He's prying new at it. Frankly,
[25:44] Speaker 2: it sounds like I went real.
[25:45] Speaker 9: Well good, that's what I wanted to report, a good
[25:49] Speaker 9: Braine report and just get advice and I'll handle it
[25:53] Speaker 9: that way next time.
[25:54] Speaker 2: There you go. Well done. Hey, by the way, what
[25:56] Speaker 2: were you shooting? You said? Your ar is it in
[25:59] Speaker 2: two two three?
[26:00] Speaker 9: Yeah, yep, yep and five five six. I have a
[26:03] Speaker 9: vortex red dot with an extra radical on it. And
[26:07] Speaker 9: it was his turn to leave the safe and go
[26:10] Speaker 9: out and shoot. So it was a great night.
[26:13] Speaker 2: Hit me wait long enough?
[26:15] Speaker 3: Uh yeah, I like it.
[26:18] Speaker 2: I like it all right. Well, look thanks for the
[26:20] Speaker 2: ranging port. Well done, that is great. I appreciate that. Matt.
[26:25] Speaker 2: You know it's an opportunity, and if it's not a
[26:29] Speaker 2: real immediate safety issue, there's a lot of things ways
[26:32] Speaker 2: you go about. You know, he calls these fires sound
[26:34] Speaker 2: like maybe it was just the two of them. If
[26:37] Speaker 2: it was a bunch of people on the line, one
[26:38] Speaker 2: of the things you could do is just stop shooting,
[26:40] Speaker 2: stand up, and step back from the line, and then
[26:43] Speaker 2: when the line goes cold again, then you could have
[26:46] Speaker 2: the conversation and you start off with, hey, if you
[26:50] Speaker 2: wouldn't mind, why don't we switch positions here, because you're
[26:55] Speaker 2: shooting at a target to my left and you're I'm
[26:56] Speaker 2: shooting at one of your right, and let's just switch here,
[26:59] Speaker 2: and you know, we'll sort this thing out. There's usually
[27:03] Speaker 2: a way to have these conversations as long as you
[27:08] Speaker 2: don't have your ego all wrapped up in it. A
[27:10] Speaker 2: lot of times you start off with a question, you
[27:12] Speaker 2: say you wouldn't mind, or you know, or hey, I
[27:16] Speaker 2: was just thinking that we might be better off just
[27:19] Speaker 2: find a way to ease into it, to give them
[27:23] Speaker 2: a chance to buy in. If you get that buy in,
[27:27] Speaker 2: you can usually get it where you needed to be.
[27:29] Speaker 2: And particularly if somebody's new, they don't know but I
[27:32] Speaker 2: think Matt did a great job of not embarrassing him
[27:34] Speaker 2: in front of his girlfriend, and you know, he had
[27:38] Speaker 2: a good experience on the thing we tend to. There's
[27:43] Speaker 2: a thought for you. If you've been shooting a long time,
[27:46] Speaker 2: and a lot of people listening to this have been
[27:48] Speaker 2: shooting for decades, you forget that you were once new
[27:54] Speaker 2: and didn't know all these safety rules, and you were
[27:56] Speaker 2: nervous and didn't know the protocols and wouldn't have appreciated
[28:01] Speaker 2: if somebody barked at you. And so it's our chance,
[28:05] Speaker 2: as the folks who have the experience to help folks
[28:09] Speaker 2: and say, hey, let me explain to you. Let's see
[28:12] Speaker 2: what we can do about this. Yeah, Joe says started
[28:16] Speaker 2: off with hey, jerk face, it is probably not a
[28:18] Speaker 2: good way to go. Thank you, Jim. I appreciate it.
[28:20] Speaker 2: I knew it could counted you on that one. I
[28:22] Speaker 2: did have a situation one time though public range simply
[28:29] Speaker 2: open to the public, you know, rainge masters or therebody shoots,
[28:31] Speaker 2: and I was shooting and I didn't realize some folks
[28:35] Speaker 2: had come in on the far into the line down there.
[28:40] Speaker 2: I stopped and I walked down to change the target
[28:42] Speaker 2: out and they started shooting while I was down range.
[28:47] Speaker 2: That's not a time to be bashful. So I barked
[28:51] Speaker 2: very loudly at them and used four letter words that
[28:56] Speaker 2: I don't usually use and got their attention, and they
[28:59] Speaker 2: were or they stopped immediately. They were mortified. Now the
[29:03] Speaker 2: good news is where they were shooting. Those targets were
[29:05] Speaker 2: probably thirty yards to the side of me, so it
[29:09] Speaker 2: wasn't like the bullets were coming right next to me.
[29:11] Speaker 2: I sort of didn't like being down range when they're
[29:13] Speaker 2: bullets flying down there. But it was one of those
[29:17] Speaker 2: things I thought, Okay, what's my learning takeaway of this?
[29:20] Speaker 2: I mean, I can get mad at them for not
[29:23] Speaker 2: checking to see for somebody downrange, but also I should
[29:26] Speaker 2: have looked up and down the line just to say, okay,
[29:29] Speaker 2: did anybody else come here? While I was shooting and
[29:31] Speaker 2: looking down range and focused and what not paying attention.
[29:35] Speaker 2: So I had honestly let my situation one wearing the slaps,
[29:42] Speaker 2: And so that was one of those HM, Okay, Tom,
[29:45] Speaker 2: let's don't get mad at them. Figure out what you can.
[29:49] Speaker 2: I can't control everybody's actions, and the next people come
[29:52] Speaker 2: along and may do the same thing. So how am
[29:54] Speaker 2: I going to protect myself? So? What do I do
[29:56] Speaker 2: to improve my performance? If you will, It's the way
[30:03] Speaker 2: I like to approach things. What can I get out
[30:05] Speaker 2: of this? How can I do better? I like learning,
[30:08] Speaker 2: I like improving and whatever it is I do. I'm
[30:12] Speaker 2: never going to be a top competitive shooter. I'm not
[30:15] Speaker 2: really a competitive shooter at all. I don't do that.
[30:19] Speaker 2: And there are gazillions of people who shoot better than
[30:22] Speaker 2: I do. They shoot smaller groups, they shoot faster times,
[30:25] Speaker 2: all the rest of it. And that's fine. I'm just
[30:28] Speaker 2: trying to get better at what I do. That's why
[30:31] Speaker 2: I'm going back and taking another class at Gunsight. I'm
[30:36] Speaker 2: going back to Range Ready in a month month and
[30:40] Speaker 2: a half to do another event, another shooting event there,
[30:44] Speaker 2: and I'll get a little training there, and I try
[30:47] Speaker 2: to do that with most things. I have been flying Airpuy.
[30:53] Speaker 2: I've been flying for forty years, forty two years, and
[30:57] Speaker 2: I'm signed up to take a three day class, one
[31:00] Speaker 2: on one with a experienced instructor on that country, flyine,
[31:04] Speaker 2: flying into the wilderness areas. We're going to be doing that.
[31:06] Speaker 2: That's gonna be a bunch of fun as well. Let's wrap.
[31:09] Speaker 2: Jeff Line what out of Meridian, Idaho, just down the
[31:12] Speaker 2: road from me. Hey, Jeff, your own gun talk. What's up?
[31:16] Speaker 10: Hi?
[31:16] Speaker 11: I've heard you talk about nineteen elevens and before, and
[31:21] Speaker 11: I know you have a passion for the nineteen elevens,
[31:24] Speaker 11: and so do I. I have had a cult nineteen
[31:27] Speaker 11: eleven since the early eighties, and I've that's what I
[31:33] Speaker 11: shoot mostly. I'm fairly proficient with it. But I keep
[31:39] Speaker 11: hearing the people, mostly younger shooters, say, oh no, you
[31:43] Speaker 11: need something with a greater capacity, holds, more rounds, more
[31:48] Speaker 11: self defense. And I just wanted to get your thoughts
[31:51] Speaker 11: on that, because I say proficiency and shot placement has
[31:59] Speaker 11: to be consider first and foremost.
[32:04] Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think anybody would argue that shot placement
[32:08] Speaker 2: is critical. I mean on the board, you know, size
[32:12] Speaker 2: of the cartridge versus the number of rounds. I can
[32:15] Speaker 2: argue it both ways, and often do it sounds like
[32:19] Speaker 2: you have kind of figured it out. Look, these persons
[32:21] Speaker 2: got to come figure out where they come down on this.
[32:24] Speaker 2: If you can shoot well, let's just say that if
[32:28] Speaker 2: you are carrying a forty five automatic and you've got
[32:32] Speaker 2: well with most forty five, you can carry eight in
[32:34] Speaker 2: a magazine. Plus once you've got nine rounds, there are
[32:38] Speaker 2: not a lot of these social problems you can't solve
[32:41] Speaker 2: with nine rounds. Honestly, Now, I can come up with
[32:44] Speaker 2: scenarios where you say, well, oh but you might need more, Yes,
[32:47] Speaker 2: you might, you might need a hundred, but you're probably
[32:50] Speaker 2: not gonna have them. But that's a very low percentage.
[32:53] Speaker 2: The percentages drop off really fast after about three or
[32:56] Speaker 2: four rounds. At that point, it's kind like, I don't know,
[33:01] Speaker 2: it's what do you like? Don't you find that it's
[33:05] Speaker 2: as much what kind of gun do you like? What
[33:07] Speaker 2: do you shoot well? And what feels good in your hand?
[33:10] Speaker 11: Exactly? I guess it goes. It ties into debt, never
[33:16] Speaker 11: ending nine m men versus forty five debate that will
[33:19] Speaker 11: go on forever. Yeah, you're right, well I have both.
[33:25] Speaker 11: I got to admit a half boasts. I have a
[33:27] Speaker 11: bread in ninety two also, But I feel pretty good
[33:31] Speaker 11: about their ninety eleven. But I keep hearing, oh, no,
[33:34] Speaker 11: you need to have a handgun to hold some more rounds.
[33:39] Speaker 2: Oh yeah, No. What I really like is when they say, yeah,
[33:41] Speaker 2: you know, what if you carry nineteen eleven with only
[33:44] Speaker 2: nine or ten rounds you're gonna die. Well, no, that's
[33:47] Speaker 2: just stupid. Come on, kid, And it's like, well, but
[33:49] Speaker 2: if you don't have a dot on it, you're going
[33:51] Speaker 2: to die, really okay. If you don't have a double stock,
[33:53] Speaker 2: you're gonna die. Okay, can we get past this? This
[33:56] Speaker 2: is sounding really stupid at this point. You know, copstant
[33:59] Speaker 2: Well carried six out revolvers for an awful long time
[34:01] Speaker 2: and everybody else did so. Mainly it's a matter of
[34:06] Speaker 2: mastering the tool. I would say, rather than argue about
[34:11] Speaker 2: nine versus forty five or double stack versus single stack,
[34:14] Speaker 2: go out and take some more classes and do more
[34:17] Speaker 2: shooting and more training and lots of dry fire practice,
[34:20] Speaker 2: and get really good at drawing and shooting and center
[34:23] Speaker 2: punching your target at seven yards. Yeah. I know everybody said,
[34:26] Speaker 2: well you're to be able to hit targets at fifteen
[34:28] Speaker 2: and twenty five. Yes, I understand that. But if you
[34:31] Speaker 2: can put all your shots in a playing card at
[34:34] Speaker 2: seven yards, that's a difficult target at seven yards twenty
[34:38] Speaker 2: one feet for most people. When you can do that,
[34:41] Speaker 2: you are quite proficient.
[34:45] Speaker 11: I think I could do it. Not every time, but
[34:47] Speaker 11: I think I could do it, and I just always
[34:51] Speaker 11: was of the belief that you can't compensate for a
[34:55] Speaker 11: lack of proficiency with either capacity or power.
[35:01] Speaker 2: Or I like it when they say you can't miss
[35:03] Speaker 2: somebody fast enough to win the gunfight.
[35:07] Speaker 11: Right, And that's the last thing I'd want to do
[35:09] Speaker 11: is get in the gunfight. My intention would be to
[35:12] Speaker 11: either stop or slow down the threat so I could
[35:15] Speaker 11: take evasive action.
[35:17] Speaker 2: You bet. Yeah. But at the same time, look, if
[35:20] Speaker 2: you got to shoot, you gotta shoot center of mash.
[35:22] Speaker 2: You know, we're not trying to scare somebody. The only
[35:25] Speaker 2: reason we would pull the trigger is that somebody's just
[35:27] Speaker 2: about to kill us. So we've got to take care
[35:28] Speaker 2: of that. Great call. I appreciate that, Jeff, As you
[35:31] Speaker 2: can imagine, the nine verses forty five and single stack
[35:33] Speaker 2: versus double stack will never go away, and it's always
[35:36] Speaker 2: going to be there. But that's how we sold an
[35:39] Speaker 2: awful lot of gun magazines when I was at Guns
[35:41] Speaker 2: and Ammo and all these other gun magazines through the years.
[35:44] Speaker 2: Uh yeah, do we have time to get Mike in. Oh, okay,
[35:50] Speaker 2: we'll do that. Let's grab Mike on line too out
[35:53] Speaker 2: of Medford organ Hey, right, what's cooking. Uh oh, we're
[35:59] Speaker 2: trying to find Mike. He ran away online. Two Okay,
[36:05] Speaker 2: all right, Mike, put it down. He's getting the sandwich.
[36:07] Speaker 2: We'll see, we'll get you back in here.
[36:11] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[36:11] Speaker 2: The single stack versus double stack is kind of fun.
[36:14] Speaker 2: On the nineteen eleven side. You got this whole group
[36:16] Speaker 2: of people who discovered the nineteen eleven, but they were
[36:19] Speaker 2: bad about the nineteen eleven. It's only a nineteen eleven
[36:22] Speaker 2: if it's a good one, if it's double stack. If
[36:24] Speaker 2: it's a single stack, it's bad. I don't know why
[36:26] Speaker 2: that is. Un Listen, we got Mike back here. Hey, Mike,
[36:28] Speaker 2: you there.
[36:30] Speaker 10: Yes, I am all right.
[36:32] Speaker 2: You had the floor. Go ahead, sir.
[36:35] Speaker 10: All right, my friend. I've been a concealed carry advocate
[36:38] Speaker 10: and carried for five years. And when I decided I
[36:42] Speaker 10: was going to do that, I just shot for an
[36:45] Speaker 10: affordable weapon, and I picked the Ruger Compact Security nine.
[36:51] Speaker 10: You got good reviews, a great reputation for the company,
[36:55] Speaker 10: and that's what I chose to carry. That's what I
[36:57] Speaker 10: trained with and qualified with. And I just carry the
[37:01] Speaker 10: standard magazine ten plus one. I can put the regular
[37:07] Speaker 10: Security nine capacity in it. So that's fifteen, and so
[37:13] Speaker 10: my thoughts from earlier comments are that I want to
[37:17] Speaker 10: train with that gun so that I'm most familiar with
[37:20] Speaker 10: that gun so when every split second count, so I'm
[37:23] Speaker 10: not you know, my brain isn't tricking me that I'm
[37:26] Speaker 10: carrying in nineteen eleven or a Solimer Striker fire that
[37:30] Speaker 10: sort of thing. That was just my thoughts on the matter.
[37:32] Speaker 2: No, I'm agreeing with you. I think you're exactly right,
[37:35] Speaker 2: and people should do what you're doing and not do
[37:38] Speaker 2: what I do because I do it to completely wrong.
[37:40] Speaker 2: I switch around all the time, so it's like, do
[37:42] Speaker 2: what they say, not what I do right, But no,
[37:44] Speaker 2: I think you're doing it right. The other only a
[37:46] Speaker 2: thing left for you to do is to shoot more
[37:47] Speaker 2: AMMO and practice like crazy.
[37:50] Speaker 3: That's true.
[37:51] Speaker 10: Yeah, I agree, it's hard to carve out time to
[37:54] Speaker 10: do that, but it is part.
[37:54] Speaker 2: Of the discipline. It is. But you know, you can
[37:57] Speaker 2: also do dry firing. Make sure a triple check, make
[38:00] Speaker 2: sure you're unloaded, and practice your draw, your trigger press,
[38:05] Speaker 2: all the rest of that. Dry firing gets you an
[38:09] Speaker 2: awful lot of good training, working your gun, working the slide.
[38:14] Speaker 2: You know, pretend you got a malfunction, crank that slide,
[38:18] Speaker 2: get your trigger presses in. You're not going to be
[38:21] Speaker 2: mastering recoil for your follow up shots. You can't do
[38:24] Speaker 2: that without shooting the gun. But in terms of the
[38:27] Speaker 2: movement to the gun in the holster, drawing it out
[38:30] Speaker 2: from concealment, you need to do this from concealment, put
[38:34] Speaker 2: the target, the gun on target, pressing the trigger without
[38:37] Speaker 2: disturbing the site so that the site stay on the
[38:39] Speaker 2: target after it goes click. You need to do like
[38:42] Speaker 2: one thousand and one while you're holding the sites on
[38:44] Speaker 2: the target. Dry firing is very beneficial. It's not everything,
[38:50] Speaker 2: it's not enough, but you know, none of us gets
[38:54] Speaker 2: to the range as often as we would like. But
[38:56] Speaker 2: we're all home every single day and we can all
[38:58] Speaker 2: do dry firing every single day. And guess what, that's
[39:02] Speaker 2: what we should be doing. Gun talk will be right back.
[39:14] Speaker 3: You know.
[39:14] Speaker 2: I wish my friends wouldn't do this too. During the break,
[39:17] Speaker 2: my phone starts ringing. I got it on silent, but
[39:20] Speaker 2: I can hear it over there. It's a buddy, he's
[39:23] Speaker 2: texting me a copy of an ad from a place
[39:27] Speaker 2: that has a left handed ultra light arms rifle.
[39:30] Speaker 7: Stop.
[39:30] Speaker 2: Would you I'm supposed to be the one that enables
[39:33] Speaker 2: other people. I don't need any enabling. I can self
[39:36] Speaker 2: enable anytime I want to, So I can buy a gun,
[39:39] Speaker 2: you know, and I can stop anytime I want to.
[39:41] Speaker 2: I swear I can. I really can't. So just where
[39:45] Speaker 2: where's that again? Well, yeah, it's a twenty two empire. No,
[39:50] Speaker 2: I'm not going to do that. Run away, run away. Oh,
[39:57] Speaker 2: it is a great time for looking use guns. A
[40:02] Speaker 2: lot of people are one of the things that's happening
[40:06] Speaker 2: just from a demographic standpoint, because you've got a lot
[40:09] Speaker 2: of people who are easing out of shooting right now,
[40:13] Speaker 2: and you know a lot of older guys are starting
[40:15] Speaker 2: to get rid of their collections. They're selling them, they're
[40:17] Speaker 2: moving them, whether they're doing it locally or through you know,
[40:21] Speaker 2: Jury's Guns or gun Broken. By the way, if you're
[40:24] Speaker 2: wanting to get rid of guns juriesguns dot Com is
[40:26] Speaker 2: a great place to go. They'll buy them outright, make
[40:29] Speaker 2: it easy. And a lot of times they have really
[40:32] Speaker 2: interesting guns. A lot of times they're guns from twenty thirty, forty, fifty,
[40:35] Speaker 2: sixty years ago and they're really good. Sometimes they are
[40:39] Speaker 2: high end guns that you can pick up as a
[40:42] Speaker 2: good price. There can be some smoking deals. Sometimes you go, yeah, yeah,
[40:48] Speaker 2: I do they like to have an older Winchester model seventy,
[40:52] Speaker 2: Yeah they got those. Or you're one of the early
[40:55] Speaker 2: models Smith and Western revolvers, Yeah, those will pop up
[40:58] Speaker 2: as well. Do no matter what you're looking for. I
[41:00] Speaker 2: think right now you got look at the numbers. The
[41:05] Speaker 2: baby boomers are moving out. I mean, they're getting older
[41:08] Speaker 2: where they're not going to be shooting. They're dying. Widows
[41:12] Speaker 2: are getting rid of gun collections. There's some good deals
[41:16] Speaker 2: out there. I've had an opportunity to help a widow
[41:21] Speaker 2: or two with gun collections. It's an interesting situation where
[41:28] Speaker 2: I'm helping them sell them and I'm looking at them
[41:30] Speaker 2: and going, man, I'd love to get that one. But
[41:34] Speaker 2: what I don't do is I don't buy guns that way.
[41:37] Speaker 2: I will help them move them and get them to
[41:38] Speaker 2: the right place, but something about it doesn't feel right
[41:44] Speaker 2: of me, Like doing an appraisal long guns and saying
[41:47] Speaker 2: I think that's what they're worth and then saying I
[41:50] Speaker 2: want to buy it. Also, you shouldn't sell a gun
[41:53] Speaker 2: to somebody who doesn't appraisal for you, because even if
[41:57] Speaker 2: they're trustworthy, and I would startain to be trust where
[42:00] Speaker 2: they to make it fair. It just doesn't feel right
[42:02] Speaker 2: to me.
[42:03] Speaker 4: I don't know.
[42:03] Speaker 2: Maybe I'm maybe I'm goofy about that. Maybe that's silly,
[42:07] Speaker 2: but I just don't like the possibility of it appearing
[42:11] Speaker 2: to be improper. Where I established the price and say no,
[42:15] Speaker 2: by the way, i'll give you that for that, then
[42:17] Speaker 2: they're thinking, well, was it really worth that or did
[42:20] Speaker 2: he just price it like that so he could buy
[42:21] Speaker 2: it cheap. So I don't know, just a thought. I
[42:25] Speaker 2: don't think we got time for al in this segment.
[42:28] Speaker 2: Here we're picking up on the back side. Here we
[42:31] Speaker 2: do that. Also when we come back, we're going to
[42:33] Speaker 2: be talking with Harmi. Dylan so is the Assistant US
[42:36] Speaker 2: Attorney General in charge of the Civil Rights Division at
[42:39] Speaker 2: the US Department of Justice, and they have a Second
[42:42] Speaker 2: Amendment section there. Very interesting conversation. I interviewed her at
[42:46] Speaker 2: shot show, and frankly, she was a little closed off,
[42:50] Speaker 2: a little guarded. She has a lot of interviews and
[42:53] Speaker 2: probably most of them are she's waiting for the gotcha question.
[42:56] Speaker 2: This one was different completely. She was much more open,
[43:00] Speaker 2: maybe more trusting. Maybe she knew a little bit more
[43:03] Speaker 2: about me. We talked about women shooting, about the need
[43:07] Speaker 2: for female FIREMS instructors, about the shooting she's doing, and
[43:11] Speaker 2: of course what she's doing at Department of Justice in
[43:13] Speaker 2: terms of helping preserve and protect and expand Secondmendment rights.
[43:17] Speaker 2: That's a fascinating one. That'll be fun. Then we're going
[43:20] Speaker 2: to pick up Cam Edwards, so we're going to find
[43:22] Speaker 2: out what's going on in Virginia. It is a mess,
[43:26] Speaker 2: what's going on out there with new gun laws being
[43:29] Speaker 2: passed and signed into law by their governor. It's an
[43:33] Speaker 2: object lesson for all of us, the need to get
[43:35] Speaker 2: out and vote, because when you're losing elections, you can
[43:38] Speaker 2: lose big in gun rights.
