## Transcript

[0:03] Speaker 1: So you've made it through three hours of the regular
[0:06] Speaker 1: show on terrestrial radio and you wanted a little bit more.
[0:09] Speaker 2: So that's why you found the.
[0:10] Speaker 1: Gun Talk After Show podcast where we saved all the
[0:12] Speaker 1: best things that we.
[0:13] Speaker 2: Can't say on regular radio. Now here's Tom, Michelle and
[0:16] Speaker 2: Jim for the gun Talk After Show.
[0:21] Speaker 3: After sure time, we got Michelle Cleland and Jim Kenzie.
[0:24] Speaker 3: Hello my friends, Hello, Hello, Hello, if only we have
[0:28] Speaker 3: an interesting, exciting guest, right.
[0:31] Speaker 2: Right, yeah, where the energy?
[0:35] Speaker 3: Yeah, just just plug your whole house into Rob Latham.
[0:38] Speaker 3: He'll power the whole thing for it. Wow, I like
[0:43] Speaker 3: it all.
[0:44] Speaker 4: Right, something like that.
[0:47] Speaker 5: That was great and we can self deprecate with the
[0:49] Speaker 5: best of them, right.
[0:50] Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. This guy who back when there
[0:55] Speaker 3: was some years ago, they created a new shooting event
[0:58] Speaker 3: and they call it the Singles Championship. Where'd you single? Stag?
[1:02] Speaker 4: Nineteen eleven's Oh, I thought you'd have not married or something.
[1:08] Speaker 3: And so they started doing this and for the first
[1:12] Speaker 3: seventeen years of this championship, Rob won it every year
[1:18] Speaker 3: seventeen years in a row. And I guess everybody in
[1:22] Speaker 3: the world.
[1:23] Speaker 4: Unbelievable is that the guy is that's the best he
[1:25] Speaker 4: could do.
[1:27] Speaker 3: Yeah, I know, I got to try harder. Come on,
[1:29] Speaker 3: I'll tell you what. Let's grab Frank because I don't
[1:31] Speaker 3: want to lose him in windmill country. He's over on
[1:33] Speaker 3: line too. Hey Frank, you're still there.
[1:36] Speaker 6: Yes, I'm still there and I'm fast them.
[1:39] Speaker 3: Oh good deal, Okay, I want those windmills to mess
[1:41] Speaker 3: you up. So what's on your mind, sir? Well?
[1:44] Speaker 6: I had a birthday the Chance and about two years ago,
[1:48] Speaker 6: and explore to sit there three days. All of a
[1:51] Speaker 6: sudden caught fire because they had that glitch in it
[1:54] Speaker 6: in my nineteen eleven Ruger was in it. And also
[1:58] Speaker 6: I just realized was my inside my waistband holster. But
[2:05] Speaker 6: I had a windfall and some oil and gas. So
[2:09] Speaker 6: I went and got me a birthday present, and I
[2:12] Speaker 6: got me a Ruger Commander of forty five and a
[2:16] Speaker 6: target nineteen eleven forty five. And one of the main
[2:20] Speaker 6: reasons I did that was because when the target model
[2:24] Speaker 6: come out, I called Ruger and asked them I want
[2:27] Speaker 6: to order a target barrel for my nineteen eleven. Then
[2:30] Speaker 6: that guy said, you don't need to, You've already got it.
[2:33] Speaker 3: So I like it. We send the gun out with
[2:39] Speaker 3: a target barrel in it. I like it. You got
[2:42] Speaker 3: at barrel in there?
[2:43] Speaker 6: They put their best barrel in everything.
[2:45] Speaker 3: Yeah, actually they do it. It's the weirdest thing. The
[2:49] Speaker 3: barrels that are being made on the sea and steam
[2:51] Speaker 3: machines now just popping off and going into the guns
[2:54] Speaker 3: are better than the best match barrels from thirty years ago.
[2:59] Speaker 6: Oh I know stand that? Yeah? And uh, I said
[3:03] Speaker 6: my cousins they used to build parks and stuff for
[3:06] Speaker 6: the fourteen's and apollow and all that, so I'm kind
[3:11] Speaker 6: of familiar with the change and the technology over the years.
[3:16] Speaker 6: And but anyway, I've got how can we have got
[3:19] Speaker 6: two questions? One? Uh, that was an alien hoster inside
[3:24] Speaker 6: the waist vand and I was wondering what you would
[3:28] Speaker 6: recommend for those two? Uh? I know, two different hosters
[3:33] Speaker 6: for each one, one different each one. But more than anything,
[3:37] Speaker 6: what solved should I clean it with the first time?
[3:40] Speaker 6: I've got Gunzilla oil because I was a dealer on it.
[3:45] Speaker 6: And uh, and how many rounds should I plan on
[3:49] Speaker 6: running through them to get them where they're consistent? Broke?
[3:54] Speaker 3: Here? I would say, any given gun solvent is fine.
[4:00] Speaker 3: The brands don't really matter. Now you can just take
[4:04] Speaker 3: them apart to a basic field, strip, clean them, and
[4:06] Speaker 3: then put them back together. The main thing, and this
[4:08] Speaker 3: is the really really important thing on nineteen eleven's, is
[4:11] Speaker 3: you've got to loob them. You've got to keep them loobed.
[4:14] Speaker 3: And it's not difficult. If you wreck the slide back,
[4:18] Speaker 3: lock it back, turn it upside down, all those rails
[4:22] Speaker 3: that are sticking out as it's upside down, put some
[4:25] Speaker 3: a few drops of oil in each rail, and then
[4:28] Speaker 3: while you've got the slide locked back, you've got the
[4:32] Speaker 3: barrel sticking out of the slide the front. Put like
[4:36] Speaker 3: two or three drops of oil on the barrel and
[4:39] Speaker 3: rub it around and all the way around three hundred
[4:41] Speaker 3: and sixty degrees with a finger. Then close the slide
[4:44] Speaker 3: and then put two or three drops on the hood
[4:46] Speaker 3: that's the top of the barrel that you can see
[4:48] Speaker 3: through the projection port. Work the slide about four times
[4:51] Speaker 3: and it is loubed and ready to go. And I
[4:53] Speaker 3: would say do that about every hundred rounds, just relub it.
[4:59] Speaker 3: Nothing more than that is needed. And honestly, after maybe
[5:04] Speaker 3: just picking a number two hundred rounds in each gun,
[5:06] Speaker 3: it's going to be broken. In but the key and
[5:09] Speaker 3: that's for the life of the gun. You've got to
[5:12] Speaker 3: keep nineteen elevens looped and cleaned clean. What what what's
[5:19] Speaker 3: this cleaning thing you're speaking of.
[5:21] Speaker 6: It's kind of like rs in western Oklahoma where the
[5:25] Speaker 6: dirt flows.
[5:26] Speaker 4: Oh, that's true.
[5:28] Speaker 3: You put oil on it. Knowledge all you're going to
[5:30] Speaker 3: do is stick the dirt in the stand to it.
[5:33] Speaker 6: Well, that's the reason I'm used a gun Zilla oil
[5:36] Speaker 6: because it doesn't collect the cord one or the dust
[5:39] Speaker 6: and dirt as much as other Yeah, all right, Michelle.
[5:43] Speaker 1: Well I was gonna say Slip two thousand is a
[5:44] Speaker 1: really good product also, by the way, But what I
[5:47] Speaker 1: was going to say is when you're breaking in that gun,
[5:50] Speaker 1: you want to make sure that you're using really good,
[5:52] Speaker 1: high quality ammunition because that makes all the difference as well.
[5:57] Speaker 3: You know the cheese does it's not as dirty?
[5:59] Speaker 2: Yep.
[6:00] Speaker 1: Ye, the cheap stuff is dirty, and yeah, it creates
[6:03] Speaker 1: such consist exactly, So i'd say make sure that you're
[6:06] Speaker 1: also using some good quality ammunition. It might cost you
[6:09] Speaker 1: a little bit more, but it's going to be worth
[6:11] Speaker 1: it through the breaking process.
[6:14] Speaker 6: Yeah, he gave me, was it, Sam? It's in the
[6:18] Speaker 6: gold and black. Yeah, but I'll go on guy, having
[6:26] Speaker 6: shipped me quite a bit.
[6:28] Speaker 3: Yeah, get the good stuff because, like Michelle says, there's
[6:31] Speaker 3: a lot of really cheap m O and we are
[6:34] Speaker 3: seeing incredible variations in what you're getting out of that
[6:37] Speaker 3: cheap stuff.
[6:38] Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
[6:39] Speaker 6: I get the high quality because I read and I
[6:42] Speaker 6: want the good brass perfect. Earlier today, I was wondering
[6:48] Speaker 6: if his problem was was had those uh uh, it
[6:54] Speaker 6: was military and he needed to even though it wasever,
[7:01] Speaker 6: he said, Brian, and it mind needed that that you know,
[7:05] Speaker 6: feel smashed down inside if you know what I'm talking about.
[7:10] Speaker 3: Couldn't get the h Yeah, I couldn't. That's what I
[7:12] Speaker 3: was thinking. It could have been some kind of a
[7:14] Speaker 3: military crip on the primers, and that's why I was saying,
[7:17] Speaker 3: if you use.
[7:18] Speaker 6: That's what I talked about.
[7:20] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly what I was thinking. If I
[7:23] Speaker 3: use a primer cleaner or a primer suager, there's a
[7:27] Speaker 3: lot of different ways to go to clean that out.
[7:29] Speaker 3: And that may have been you and I are thinking
[7:31] Speaker 3: the exact same thing.
[7:33] Speaker 6: Oh, I was gonna thinking about Federal because usually sportsne Guy,
[7:38] Speaker 6: I hadn't been on there in thirty four years, but
[7:40] Speaker 6: they used to have for to good deals on federal animal.
[7:44] Speaker 3: Federal's good, Amma. Yep.
[7:45] Speaker 1: That's the other thing that I would recommend with this too, Tom,
[7:49] Speaker 1: and you probably would too, knowing knowing you, is having
[7:53] Speaker 1: several magazines for these guns and working through the different
[7:57] Speaker 1: megs as you go along and making sure that a
[8:00] Speaker 1: functioning okay as well, you know, especially new ones off
[8:03] Speaker 1: the shelf. Yeah, mark them with the you know, with
[8:06] Speaker 1: the colored charpie like a silver color or something one, two, three, four,
[8:10] Speaker 1: however many you have, and just make sure they all
[8:13] Speaker 1: cycle the way that you want them to with the
[8:15] Speaker 1: ammunition as you're breaking it in.
[8:17] Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah. The point there being you could have one
[8:20] Speaker 3: mag that just doesn't work for whatever reason. If you've
[8:23] Speaker 3: got a number, you can go, okay, oh number three
[8:25] Speaker 3: is acting up again.
[8:27] Speaker 2: Yep.
[8:27] Speaker 3: And then if if number three acts up like three
[8:30] Speaker 3: or four times, you just take a ball ping hammer to.
[8:32] Speaker 4: It and modify this problem.
[8:37] Speaker 3: Tom, that's from Tom's school of gunsmith.
[8:39] Speaker 2: Then you have a half stack.
[8:47] Speaker 3: I appreciate it, But all right, thank you, Look, I
[8:50] Speaker 3: appreciate the call. There you go, let's do this. Let's
[8:52] Speaker 3: grab Craig because he's been on hole for quite a while.
[8:55] Speaker 3: I called out a kus Bay organ creg you're still there.
[8:58] Speaker 7: I'm still here, Tom.
[8:59] Speaker 3: I don't why. We did our best. We did all
[9:04] Speaker 3: we could do to get rid of you. Man.
[9:07] Speaker 7: Yeah, I know that's probably because I'm gonna rise you
[9:09] Speaker 7: a little bit, go for it. So you're standing on
[9:15] Speaker 7: a pretty big gubox with the Nation White audience to
[9:19] Speaker 7: be telling it.
[9:20] Speaker 3: Know everybody, we're going to lose in.
[9:22] Speaker 7: The Senate and the Congress. I mean, by god, you
[9:25] Speaker 7: know we need we need to get people motivated. I
[9:28] Speaker 7: mean where we're going to turn out to be crazy
[9:31] Speaker 7: laws like what we have here in Oregon, in the
[9:33] Speaker 7: West Coast and everything. I mean, it's it's real mess out.
[9:36] Speaker 3: Here ide you for three months, three months, every week,
[9:40] Speaker 3: I keep saying, you got to register to vote, You
[9:43] Speaker 3: got to get out to vote, you gotta get you
[9:44] Speaker 3: got to do your thing. But I will I will
[9:48] Speaker 3: tell you. I mean, well, historically, look in the mid terms,
[9:51] Speaker 3: the party that's in power usually loses. That's probably I mean,
[9:56] Speaker 3: just with the odds favor that's probably gonna happen. Our
[9:58] Speaker 3: goal is to not lose the Senate. We're almost certainly
[10:02] Speaker 3: going to lose the House, but we don't want to
[10:04] Speaker 3: lose the Senate. And that's the critical part. And that's
[10:06] Speaker 3: where we've got to motivate people to get out and vote.
[10:08] Speaker 3: But if look, if I discourage anybody from going out
[10:11] Speaker 3: to vote, shame on me. I wasn't trying to do that.
[10:13] Speaker 3: I was actually trying to motivate him.
[10:15] Speaker 7: And well, good, because I mean we need motivation. I mean,
[10:18] Speaker 7: there's there's no doubt about it. I mean, this isn't
[10:21] Speaker 7: just a regular Democrat party. We're up against up against
[10:24] Speaker 7: these you know, total socialist marketers. I mean they're crazy, they.
[10:29] Speaker 3: Are bad stuff, crazy without a doubt.
[10:32] Speaker 5: And in addition, Tom, you've got the people that are
[10:35] Speaker 5: going to sit home either way, well, you know us
[10:37] Speaker 5: conservatives where Republicans are losing, there's no sense to go out.
[10:40] Speaker 4: And vote, okay or the other way?
[10:43] Speaker 5: Yeah, or our guys up two percent, I've got no
[10:45] Speaker 5: reason to get and vote.
[10:45] Speaker 4: He's got it by two percent, but they don't.
[10:47] Speaker 1: We how many times have we seen this in the
[10:49] Speaker 1: presidential races come out that it totally upside down?
[10:53] Speaker 5: Right, I'm just telling the nature of people being laid
[10:55] Speaker 5: in general, they get off your ass, go vote, yep.
[10:57] Speaker 5: If it turns out we lost, at least you contribute
[11:00] Speaker 5: put to part in the system, which I think is
[11:02] Speaker 5: an obligation.
[11:03] Speaker 4: But that's a whole nother time.
[11:06] Speaker 3: And there's that, you know, For me personally, I don't
[11:09] Speaker 3: think I can look at myself in the mirror if
[11:12] Speaker 3: I don't vote.
[11:13] Speaker 4: I don't.
[11:13] Speaker 3: I don't think you can call yourself a patriotic American
[11:17] Speaker 3: if you don't vote. I just I just don't think
[11:18] Speaker 3: you can do.
[11:20] Speaker 1: You know how many other countries would Their vote really
[11:23] Speaker 1: doesn't matter even though they go through the process of voting.
[11:26] Speaker 2: At least in our country it does.
[11:29] Speaker 3: And look, I understand the whole voter fraud thing and
[11:32] Speaker 3: all that. I think we work we're I'm not saying
[11:35] Speaker 3: we're fixing it, but we're working on it. But whatever
[11:39] Speaker 3: that is, to not vote because of that, it's just
[11:43] Speaker 3: giving yourself an excuse to be lazy. Honestly, Greg, I
[11:47] Speaker 3: don't know. I would ask you, what would you say,
[11:51] Speaker 3: you got the floor right now, what would you say
[11:53] Speaker 3: to people to get a motivated to get out and vote.
[11:56] Speaker 7: Well, look at look at Oregon, look to Washington, look
[12:01] Speaker 7: at look at these blue states and the gun laws
[12:04] Speaker 7: and the restrictions and the das that they're putting in place.
[12:08] Speaker 7: I mean, for God's sake, this should be national news.
[12:11] Speaker 7: In Tuesday, North Sand, Oregon, they had this guy that
[12:15] Speaker 7: was bumped up in a house. They had the house lockdown.
[12:19] Speaker 7: They said in a drone to go get them. They
[12:22] Speaker 7: got him and brought them out, booked them on several charges,
[12:25] Speaker 7: and you know what, they released them that same day.
[12:29] Speaker 6: That's the DA's.
[12:30] Speaker 7: I mean, this is the kind of Saturday buff again.
[12:33] Speaker 3: And you know where those da are coming from. We
[12:35] Speaker 3: now have actually documented it's not it's not kind of
[12:39] Speaker 3: a weird claim. George Soros is pouring money into putting
[12:43] Speaker 3: das in around the country and it doesn't make a
[12:45] Speaker 3: lot of money from him to get them elected in
[12:48] Speaker 3: these campaigns. So these are sorrows funded DA's who are
[12:53] Speaker 3: basically there to destroy America.
[12:55] Speaker 1: They really are, well and we talk about it how
[12:58] Speaker 1: many times, I mean over and over and over again.
[13:01] Speaker 2: And obviously when it comes time to vote.
[13:04] Speaker 1: For elections or you know, our primaries and midterms whatever
[13:07] Speaker 1: it might be.
[13:08] Speaker 2: But it's important to get everything set.
[13:11] Speaker 1: It's not just the House, the Senate and the President,
[13:14] Speaker 1: right it's our local mayors.
[13:16] Speaker 2: It's like you say, it's our school board. It's it's
[13:19] Speaker 2: all of.
[13:19] Speaker 1: Those things that have to align to make all of
[13:23] Speaker 1: this happen the way that we need it to.
[13:25] Speaker 3: Well, I appreciate the call, Greig, and uh yeah, I'm
[13:27] Speaker 3: glad I gave you the floor. There's the motivation you
[13:29] Speaker 3: don't want the rest of the country. I'm sorry to
[13:31] Speaker 3: be like Oregon in Washington State. I'm sorry that it
[13:34] Speaker 3: is what it is, and maybe it's someone we can
[13:36] Speaker 3: get it back, but we should don't want that stuff
[13:37] Speaker 3: to ooze over to the rest of us. I'm just
[13:40] Speaker 3: there it is. I'm just being over in Ido and
[13:42] Speaker 3: saying I'm gonna.
[13:43] Speaker 1: Build a wall really close to you if you're close
[13:48] Speaker 1: to the ooze city.
[13:49] Speaker 3: And with that, I'm gonna go get my bunker and
[13:51] Speaker 3: we're gonna take a break.
[13:57] Speaker 8: From the range to the field. CZ four firearms are
[14:00] Speaker 8: built to perform when it counts. Known for accuracy, durability,
[14:04] Speaker 8: and reliability, CZ stands apart. CZ built for those who
[14:09] Speaker 8: demand more CZ Firearms dot Com.
[14:20] Speaker 3: All right back with here, we're talking with Rob Latham.
[14:25] Speaker 3: I had a fun time. I really wanted him to
[14:27] Speaker 3: talk about this whole. Why are you spending so much
[14:30] Speaker 3: effort on aiming? They don't need to And people think
[14:34] Speaker 3: he just said don't aim. Well, not exactly, but we're
[14:38] Speaker 3: spending way too much effort. And it's funny because Corey
[14:40] Speaker 3: Trap just on my x feed just posted something. Let
[14:44] Speaker 3: me tell you, Corey Trap. I called him the Santa
[14:47] Speaker 3: Claus with a machine gun. He is a range master
[14:51] Speaker 3: at gun site, got a big white beard. He is
[14:54] Speaker 3: the master of all the military firearms and machine guns
[14:58] Speaker 3: as well as long range shooting. Get everything he is
[15:01] Speaker 3: post on here. Aiming is the easy part. Seldom does
[15:04] Speaker 3: anyone miss because they aimed poorly. If the sights were
[15:09] Speaker 3: not where you wanted them, why would you try to fire?
[15:12] Speaker 2: But people don't.
[15:13] Speaker 1: You can never hold still. You will never hold still.
[15:19] Speaker 1: You hold out your arm and it's going to be
[15:22] Speaker 1: out there for a little bit and end up shaking.
[15:24] Speaker 2: That's just the way it is, right.
[15:26] Speaker 3: But I wanted to be perfect. So when the sights
[15:28] Speaker 3: drift across the target, I'm going to pull this trigger
[15:31] Speaker 3: really hard, Yeah, just to make sure that it goes
[15:34] Speaker 3: off at the perfect time.
[15:35] Speaker 2: It always does. Low left, if you're right handed, the
[15:40] Speaker 2: target jump.
[15:42] Speaker 3: You got to move the target.
[15:43] Speaker 1: Lower and left, right, go further over to the left
[15:48] Speaker 1: to shoot further to the right, or further to the
[15:50] Speaker 1: right to aim Hi. But people don't understand, right, it's
[15:57] Speaker 1: accept the wiggle area and just squeeze and embrace the wig.
[16:05] Speaker 3: Well, you think about it, if you're looking at it,
[16:07] Speaker 3: where is as you're watching the wobble, these sights are
[16:10] Speaker 3: moving around. They're never coming off the bullseye. They're not
[16:14] Speaker 3: dead center, but they're never coming off the bulls eye.
[16:17] Speaker 3: They're just wabbling around, wobbling around. So I have to
[16:19] Speaker 3: win off any time during that process. It'd be okay, correct.
[16:24] Speaker 3: The only way you mess that up is to pull
[16:27] Speaker 3: the gun off of the target, which is what you
[16:29] Speaker 3: do when you're yanking that trigger. But I did like
[16:33] Speaker 3: Rob's take on he says. Look, he says, you cannot
[16:35] Speaker 3: learn to shoot fast by shooting slow. There's two different skills,
[16:40] Speaker 3: he says, like walking and running. They are similar, but
[16:43] Speaker 3: they're not the same.
[16:45] Speaker 5: I like the way he said about teaching some of
[16:47] Speaker 5: the shoot. Well, if I had to teacher just before things,
[16:49] Speaker 5: grab a tight, hang on tight. And when he got
[16:52] Speaker 5: to the aiming things like aim it more or less.
[16:56] Speaker 3: Aim it more or less. Yeah, okay, but out there.
[17:00] Speaker 1: But you're right, so many people do like focus on
[17:03] Speaker 1: the site front, sit front, site front sight, Like, okay,
[17:06] Speaker 1: I get it, that should be part of it, but
[17:08] Speaker 1: that's not the most important focus.
[17:10] Speaker 4: See.
[17:11] Speaker 5: My thing is I was I squeeze off relatively quick
[17:13] Speaker 5: if I'm anywhere near the bullseye because I know it's
[17:15] Speaker 5: going to come off.
[17:16] Speaker 4: Well, I'm close. Let's see how closest one is.
[17:18] Speaker 1: You know, like with muscle memories, some people are very
[17:21] Speaker 1: good we call it slap in the trigger. They're very
[17:23] Speaker 1: good at jerking the trigger and do it consistently.
[17:26] Speaker 3: Yes, Rob Latham, you look at him and you think
[17:29] Speaker 3: his finger's coming way off the trigger and back on
[17:32] Speaker 3: the trigger, and you're thinking that's just wrong. That's well
[17:36] Speaker 3: you can do is win like fifty world championships doing that.
[17:39] Speaker 5: Yeah, oh well, well he was one of your best
[17:43] Speaker 5: students time.
[17:45] Speaker 3: Right on my best day. I couldn't get close to
[17:51] Speaker 3: his worst day.
[17:52] Speaker 2: But then you're the perfect coach, making him better than you.
[17:55] Speaker 3: Yeah right, Yeah, Rod knows better than to listen to
[17:59] Speaker 3: me on anything. But yeah, I this idea of just
[18:06] Speaker 3: threshing the trigger. It's funny you're talking about, Michelle, the
[18:09] Speaker 3: focus on the front side, front sight. Way way back
[18:12] Speaker 3: on zillion years ago, when I shot Bullseye pistol, every
[18:15] Speaker 3: time I would come up on the target. In my head,
[18:17] Speaker 3: I would just repeat over and over front site, front sight,
[18:19] Speaker 3: front site, front site. But we're shooting very slowly, hard
[18:23] Speaker 3: focus on the front side, and then just squeeze. Yep, yep,
[18:28] Speaker 3: that's okay, it's slow final, that works.
[18:30] Speaker 2: Fine, Yep.
[18:30] Speaker 1: I say they can still be part of your mantra,
[18:33] Speaker 1: right because it is something you can't pay attention to.
[18:35] Speaker 3: But it can't be that way when you're shooting fast. Well,
[18:38] Speaker 3: you gotta switch from sites. You gotta Now I've switched completely,
[18:42] Speaker 3: and now in my head instead of hearing front site,
[18:44] Speaker 3: what I hear is trigger, trigger, trigger, trigger, trigger, trigger.
[18:47] Speaker 3: It's all about the trigger. I mean, it's I would
[18:50] Speaker 3: like to say it's seventy percent trigger, but it's not.
[18:52] Speaker 3: It's ninety percent trigger.
[18:54] Speaker 1: Well, and that's the same across anything that we use.
[18:57] Speaker 1: It's the same if you're using a bowl with a release,
[19:01] Speaker 1: it's still a trigger.
[19:03] Speaker 2: You know. It's the same principles.
[19:06] Speaker 1: But the other thing is, and sometimes people don't think
[19:09] Speaker 1: about this when you add magnification, it makes your wiggle
[19:14] Speaker 1: area that much worse, right you can, yes, So that's
[19:19] Speaker 1: just one more of those things like and mess with
[19:21] Speaker 1: your breath, with your breathing techniques, you know, because that
[19:25] Speaker 1: is everything too, being able to have, you know, taken
[19:30] Speaker 1: a deep breath, let out, let it out. Taken a
[19:33] Speaker 1: deep breath, let half of it out and just settle there.
[19:36] Speaker 2: You know that it's huge.
[19:38] Speaker 4: And you take at the top of the breath, at
[19:42] Speaker 4: the bottom of the.
[19:42] Speaker 2: Ba, right you do.
[19:44] Speaker 1: But you know, having good breathing technique or consistency, yeah,
[19:48] Speaker 1: exactly makes all the difference with how still it appears
[19:53] Speaker 1: to be mm hm.
[19:55] Speaker 3: And that's where you've got to get control of your
[19:58] Speaker 3: mind to say it's okay, ay for it to move around, right,
[20:02] Speaker 3: not gonna not gonna stop that. I mean, when rob
[20:05] Speaker 3: World Champion says, you cannot hold the gun still, it's impossible.
[20:09] Speaker 3: You can't hold still. It's gonna move. So you gotta,
[20:13] Speaker 3: as you say, you embrace the boy wiggle or the wobble,
[20:18] Speaker 3: you know, and now just focus on pressing the trigger
[20:24] Speaker 3: without disturbing the sights.
[20:27] Speaker 2: You know, That's what we do.
[20:28] Speaker 3: We yank, we moved the trigger and we pulled the
[20:30] Speaker 3: gun off of the target.
[20:32] Speaker 4: Yep.
[20:33] Speaker 2: And to his point, it's it's partially true.
[20:36] Speaker 1: And I'm sure you've been in similar hunting situations where
[20:40] Speaker 1: all of a sudden the animal is right there and
[20:44] Speaker 1: you have a split decision like okay, shoot now, like
[20:47] Speaker 1: everything's clear, there's nothing in the background. Shoot And you
[20:50] Speaker 1: always end up hitting it. And sometimes when you have
[20:52] Speaker 1: the time.
[20:53] Speaker 2: Like your breath is creepy, you're like, okay, get this
[20:56] Speaker 2: under control.
[21:00] Speaker 4: Ye think it.
[21:01] Speaker 2: But when it's instinctive, it just happens. Well, that's the
[21:05] Speaker 2: way it should be always right.
[21:07] Speaker 5: Our mind gets in the room earlier talking about the
[21:09] Speaker 5: analogies and the similarities to other things, music, golf, same
[21:14] Speaker 5: exact thing.
[21:14] Speaker 4: If you do it's natural, you know overall you're probably
[21:17] Speaker 4: gonna do all right. You overthink it, You're you're gonna
[21:19] Speaker 4: overthink it and screw.
[21:20] Speaker 1: Something, right, but you know it's still talk about it.
[21:25] Speaker 1: But you know when you go out for the first
[21:27] Speaker 1: time in the spring, you haven't been hunting all winter long,
[21:30] Speaker 1: and you go out there for woodchuck season for us,
[21:32] Speaker 1: and you're like.
[21:33] Speaker 2: Oh, it hurts a flutter, Like okay, this is just
[21:35] Speaker 2: a woodchuck.
[21:38] Speaker 3: No, it isn't. It's a small grizzly, right.
[21:42] Speaker 2: What you're supposed to do? Breathe like relax.
[21:48] Speaker 3: They do like they do. They look like small grizzlies.
[21:51] Speaker 3: I'm telling you. If you get down to your belly,
[21:56] Speaker 3: you crawl up to one nose to nose, it looks
[21:58] Speaker 3: like a grisly.
[21:59] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[22:02] Speaker 4: It's gonna make it really really small fireplace rug though.
[22:07] Speaker 3: That's right.
[22:09] Speaker 2: I love it.
[22:09] Speaker 3: So here's a drift for people to go out if
[22:11] Speaker 3: they want to experience what we're talking about. We talked
[22:14] Speaker 3: about the whole deal of closing your eyes and firing
[22:16] Speaker 3: a shot. We'll try this. Get all lined up on
[22:20] Speaker 3: the target, close your eyes and fire and get a hard,
[22:23] Speaker 3: tight grip on the gun, get sights lined up, close
[22:26] Speaker 3: your eyes, and fire four shots as fast as you can.
[22:29] Speaker 3: Pop up, pop up and open your eyes and see
[22:32] Speaker 3: what happens. They're all going to be good shots. And
[22:35] Speaker 3: just thinking, well, how can that be? I'm not even
[22:37] Speaker 3: seeing the sights from control. The record doesn't matter. It
[22:40] Speaker 3: just shows you how much the gun could move and
[22:43] Speaker 3: still be good shots if you don't pull it off
[22:46] Speaker 3: the target. Because it's really fun to do.
[22:51] Speaker 1: You know, some people do like blank target or you know,
[22:55] Speaker 1: they're so worried about where it has hit the target
[22:59] Speaker 1: they'll follow through on their target. So that makes a
[23:03] Speaker 1: big difference as well. You know it like you can
[23:06] Speaker 1: look at that that shot is down there, So if
[23:08] Speaker 1: you look at it in ten seconds or five minutes,
[23:11] Speaker 1: it's going to be where it's going to be.
[23:14] Speaker 2: You know.
[23:14] Speaker 3: Oh yeah, when people are looking at the bullet holes where.
[23:16] Speaker 1: They hit, Yeah, they come off the gun and got
[23:19] Speaker 1: to see where it is on the bullseye. And that
[23:21] Speaker 1: happens all the time. You can just go out to
[23:23] Speaker 1: the range and watch it happen. It's it's natural. They
[23:25] Speaker 1: want to know that I hit it in the middle,
[23:27] Speaker 1: you know.
[23:28] Speaker 3: But well now that I looking up, now the eyes
[23:30] Speaker 3: are going to the target and back and forth. Here's
[23:32] Speaker 3: here's a trick there that's really fun. If you have
[23:34] Speaker 3: a like a regular cardboard target, not one that hangs
[23:37] Speaker 3: you know, indoor range. But if you have a setup
[23:40] Speaker 3: where you can put a T shirt over your target
[23:42] Speaker 3: and then shoot your target. You can't see the bullet holes,
[23:46] Speaker 3: Just shoot and you can tell where you're supposed to
[23:49] Speaker 3: be shooting. Just shoot it with a T shirt over
[23:52] Speaker 3: it that way. You absolutely, I don't care if you
[23:54] Speaker 3: look out there or not. You're not going to see
[23:56] Speaker 3: any bullet holes. Now you can actually focus on shooting.
[24:00] Speaker 3: It's a fun drill.
[24:01] Speaker 2: Yeah, well that's what we need to that's what we
[24:03] Speaker 2: need to do.
[24:04] Speaker 4: Ultimately, just make sure no one's in that T shirt.
[24:07] Speaker 1: It's a good, good way to get rid of all
[24:08] Speaker 1: the old boyfriend Yeah we got We.
[24:11] Speaker 3: All have these drawers full of these old nasty shirts.
[24:14] Speaker 3: Who won't throw away? Or after you do that, you
[24:18] Speaker 3: take it home and you wear it. Had a rough
[24:22] Speaker 3: day at work today, Well it's a good, good show today.
[24:31] Speaker 3: I really liked having Rob and it's always fun. And
[24:33] Speaker 3: then of course the discussions. I was amazed at how
[24:36] Speaker 3: many people want to talk about three eighties.
[24:38] Speaker 2: Right there was a hot topic.
[24:40] Speaker 4: And trucks aren't going away, no.
[24:43] Speaker 3: No, truck guns are the real deal. And there evidently
[24:45] Speaker 3: are a lot of people buying Smith and Wesson bodyguards.
[24:48] Speaker 2: Yeah, we take a bunch of those calls.
[24:52] Speaker 3: They really are. It's a good gun for the money.
[24:54] Speaker 3: It's really well, well there you go, Well, thank you
[24:58] Speaker 3: my friends. That's respond as always.
[25:00] Speaker 5: All right, Well you have yourself a dynamite week, just
[25:03] Speaker 5: trying to just trying to trip some filters.
[25:06] Speaker 2: Yeah, nice, I got you.
[25:08] Speaker 5: Algorithm will pick up on that.
[25:10] Speaker 3: That's right, that's right. Okay, they'll say, yeah, you remember
[25:13] Speaker 3: when used to have a show right before Jim sanitized it.
[25:19] Speaker 1: Yeah, required it with the with the screaming of dynamite.
[25:23] Speaker 2: Nice.
[25:25] Speaker 4: Oh now you got one there now even.
[25:29] Speaker 5: I just repeated, you met Napoleon Dynamite, which is the
[25:32] Speaker 5: great that's right for dynamite.
[25:35] Speaker 2: There you Jim dynam.
[25:40] Speaker 3: All right, have a good week, guys, take care.
[25:43] Speaker 2: We'll catch you next time for the gun talk after show.
