[0:29] Speaker 3: Hey, welcome back to gun Talk, Tom Gresham. Here, you
[0:31] Speaker 3: are our number here. It's pretty easy to remember, Tom
[0:34] Speaker 3: Talk gun easy as that. If you've been doing a
[0:36] Speaker 3: little shooting, you're taking a new gun out, maybe an
[0:38] Speaker 3: old gun. We want to hear about it, share your stories,
[0:41] Speaker 3: because yeah, that's all we're doing is sitting around the
[0:43] Speaker 3: digital campfire here and swapping tails. You know, everybody needs
[0:47] Speaker 3: ambo because you got to feed these beasts, right. It's
[0:50] Speaker 3: okay to buy new guns, but you also got to
[0:52] Speaker 3: feed up. I tell people you know on the machine guns,
[0:54] Speaker 3: like owing a great day, and you got to feed
[0:56] Speaker 3: it all the time. We should also be a little lucky,
[0:58] Speaker 3: so we're trying right now. Dan Walden, he's the CEO
[1:01] Speaker 3: of ammunition depot.
[1:03] Speaker 4: Man, you like that? Think about the machine gun? Huh
[1:06] Speaker 4: I do?
[1:06] Speaker 5: I do, Tom, Thanks for having me. And you know,
[1:08] Speaker 5: I say the same thing. Your guns are hungry. You
[1:11] Speaker 5: got to feed them. They get sad in the safe, sitting.
[1:14] Speaker 6: There all alone.
[1:15] Speaker 4: You here.
[1:16] Speaker 6: You don't want to do it out here. You got
[1:17] Speaker 6: to get them out. Yeah, you gotta get him out.
[1:19] Speaker 6: You got to feed them, you gotta exercise them.
[1:20] Speaker 4: There It is all right. So what's the story? What
[1:23] Speaker 4: is the ammunition depot? Where does this come from? Yeah?
[1:26] Speaker 6: Sure, so ammunition depot.
[1:28] Speaker 5: We've been in the market for fifteen years and we
[1:32] Speaker 5: really just saw the need for the easy ability, good quality,
[1:38] Speaker 5: good selection, but most importantly, great customer service.
[1:42] Speaker 6: So there were certainly many people out.
[1:44] Speaker 5: There that were already selling ammunition onlines, the big names
[1:48] Speaker 5: that everybody knows, But where we saw a need in
[1:50] Speaker 5: the market was on customer service that just won't quit.
[1:53] Speaker 5: And so when I talk about this, one of the
[1:55] Speaker 5: things that I say all the time is no reasonable
[1:58] Speaker 5: person will leave an interaction with ammunition deeople and happy.
[2:02] Speaker 5: And the reason for that is not because we're perfect.
[2:05] Speaker 5: Nobody's perfect. When we mess up, we own it and
[2:08] Speaker 5: we fix it. It's really not a hard thing to do.
[2:11] Speaker 5: It's just expensive and we've decided that it's worth doing.
[2:15] Speaker 3: But you also have to be willing. You have to say, Okay,
[2:17] Speaker 3: this is going to be our core value. This is
[2:20] Speaker 3: what we're going to do, is we're going to try
[2:22] Speaker 3: to make sure that everybody is satisfied and do whatever
[2:25] Speaker 3: it takes to get there. Tell me about the company
[2:27] Speaker 3: and ammunition, Deepert, what do you guys have?
[2:29] Speaker 4: What do you do? Yeah?
[2:30] Speaker 5: Sure, so we're one of the larger online suppliers of ammunition,
[2:34] Speaker 5: firearms and shooting accessories. So, as the name would indicate,
[2:37] Speaker 5: ammunition is a very large part of the business, but
[2:40] Speaker 5: we do other things also, firearms and shooting accessories, magazines,
[2:43] Speaker 5: reloading equipment, gear, you know, all of these kinds of things.
[2:47] Speaker 6: But our red and Butter is ammunition.
[2:49] Speaker 4: We've got a.
[2:50] Speaker 5: Great selection and near the best pricing in the market
[2:55] Speaker 5: across everything that we do. We don't try to be
[2:59] Speaker 5: absolutely the best best price in the market on every
[3:01] Speaker 5: product because if you do, you can't provide the appropriate
[3:04] Speaker 5: level of customer service. So our internal reviews show that
[3:07] Speaker 5: we're among the fifteen percent best on everything that we sell.
[3:11] Speaker 6: In the market, and that's really where we strive to be.
[3:13] Speaker 5: We want to be there for our customers forever, not
[3:17] Speaker 5: just when things go crazy, and not just when things
[3:21] Speaker 5: aren't crazy.
[3:22] Speaker 6: Like now and we're in a more normal, you know market.
[3:24] Speaker 4: Price.
[3:25] Speaker 3: You know, I look at price. Everybody looks at prices online.
[3:28] Speaker 3: Very nine millimeters is twenty three cents or twenty four
[3:31] Speaker 3: cents or whatever it is, you know, and with people
[3:34] Speaker 3: will strain to try to say one or two cents around.
[3:38] Speaker 5: It's exactly right, and you can bend over backwards and
[3:41] Speaker 5: go to whoever.
[3:43] Speaker 6: Maybe happens to be cheapest that week, and you know,
[3:46] Speaker 6: risk that if something goes wrong, they're not going.
[3:48] Speaker 5: To be there, and that they're not going to have
[3:50] Speaker 5: what you need and they're not going to be able
[3:51] Speaker 5: to stay behind their product. But the other thing that
[3:53] Speaker 5: we do, and it's a good point that people kind
[3:55] Speaker 5: of driving ten miles to save a penny on a
[3:59] Speaker 5: tank a guess we all know that the prices are
[4:02] Speaker 5: going to move in this market.
[4:03] Speaker 6: When people panic and there's panic buying out there, the
[4:07] Speaker 6: prices go up. And we actually hate those environments.
[4:11] Speaker 5: Our customers are not happy paying those rates for ammunition
[4:15] Speaker 5: we're not really so happy selling them there either.
[4:17] Speaker 6: The reason we have to.
[4:18] Speaker 5: Sell them there is because our costs go up when
[4:21] Speaker 5: that happens. And so we have been working across our
[4:25] Speaker 5: entire fifteen year history to kind of innovate and bring
[4:27] Speaker 5: as much value as we possibly can to our customers.
[4:30] Speaker 6: And we're not really ready to announce this yet.
[4:33] Speaker 5: So I'm going to tease a little bit, but in
[4:35] Speaker 5: the coming weeks, we're going to be releasing a product,
[4:38] Speaker 5: a new way for customers to buy ammunition so that
[4:41] Speaker 5: they can build an ammunition reserve now in a normal
[4:44] Speaker 5: market price environment, so that they do not have to
[4:47] Speaker 5: participate in the panic buying when things go crazy, and
[4:50] Speaker 5: they'll know that they have access to ammunition that was
[4:53] Speaker 5: reasonably priced from somebody that they can trust.
[4:56] Speaker 3: Oh okay, you and I have never talked before. There's call.
[5:00] Speaker 3: I am just gonna I'm going to make a guess here. Okay,
[5:04] Speaker 3: sure you can confirm or not confirm. But I have
[5:06] Speaker 3: been saying for ten plus years to everybody who would
[5:10] Speaker 3: listen in investing, they call it dollar cost averaging, and
[5:14] Speaker 3: buy a little bit, buy a little bit, buy a
[5:15] Speaker 3: little bit. I've been telling people, do the exact same
[5:18] Speaker 3: thing on your AMMO by one hundred grounds, one hundred rounds.
[5:21] Speaker 3: You know, when the prices are up by a little bit,
[5:22] Speaker 3: when the prices are down by a little bit, before
[5:24] Speaker 3: you know what, you're going to turn out and go, Wow,
[5:26] Speaker 3: I've got a whole bunch of AMMO here, and I
[5:28] Speaker 3: don't really care what the price fluctuation is. Am I
[5:31] Speaker 3: getting close.
[5:32] Speaker 6: You're a smart man, You're very very close.
[5:36] Speaker 4: You know.
[5:36] Speaker 5: In the innovation that we've brought there, you know, really
[5:40] Speaker 5: relies on the trust that we've built with our customer base.
[5:43] Speaker 5: So the big problem with what you've talked about is
[5:46] Speaker 5: if you want a good price on one hundred grounds,
[5:49] Speaker 5: you kind of.
[5:50] Speaker 6: Have to buy it locally. You can't really buy one
[5:52] Speaker 6: hundred rounds online. Have it shipped to you. Doesn't make
[5:54] Speaker 6: any sense, no, because of the shipping right and so.
[5:58] Speaker 5: What we're building here and the game, and there'll be
[6:00] Speaker 5: more information in a couple of weeks. Right now, we're
[6:02] Speaker 5: in an invite only preview as we kind of work
[6:04] Speaker 5: out the bugs, but you'll be able to buy a
[6:07] Speaker 5: little bit.
[6:08] Speaker 6: Like you said, over time, we're going to hold it
[6:11] Speaker 6: for you. Oh so it's.
[6:14] Speaker 3: You've insured yeah, you're but your client to control of
[6:17] Speaker 3: the shipping costs that.
[6:18] Speaker 4: Way, Yep.
[6:20] Speaker 6: It sits with us until you're ready for it.
[6:23] Speaker 5: You ask us the ship and then depending on how
[6:25] Speaker 5: much ask us the ship and where you want it
[6:26] Speaker 5: to ship it there maybe shipping in taxes it needs
[6:29] Speaker 5: to be paid at that time, but you won't have
[6:31] Speaker 5: to participate in whatever the market price is for the
[6:33] Speaker 5: AMMO at that time. So we'll have a lot more
[6:35] Speaker 5: information about this coming soon, including the name. But I'm
[6:38] Speaker 5: kind of on embargo. I probably said more than my
[6:40] Speaker 5: team wants me to say already.
[6:42] Speaker 3: All right, so what's hot right now? What are people
[6:44] Speaker 3: buying in bulk and trying to really stock up on?
[6:48] Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean to be honest, the bulk items that
[6:51] Speaker 5: people stock up on rarely change. And so it is
[6:54] Speaker 5: right now nine millimeter FMJ and two two three five
[6:57] Speaker 5: five six fifty five grain and it kind of all is.
[7:01] Speaker 5: We used to see a lot of people kind of
[7:03] Speaker 5: stocking up on twenty two, but that market really isn't
[7:09] Speaker 5: as hot as it used to be, and part of
[7:11] Speaker 5: it is priced.
[7:11] Speaker 6: Twenty two has come up quite a bit on price.
[7:13] Speaker 6: I think it's close to nine cents.
[7:15] Speaker 4: Wow.
[7:15] Speaker 5: Right now, And I mean I remember it at three percent.
[7:19] Speaker 5: I remember when five cents was a lot, let's put
[7:22] Speaker 5: it that way. And maybe dating myself a little bit here,
[7:25] Speaker 5: but I think that that's probably part of it, but
[7:27] Speaker 5: also that I think people are more focused on stocking
[7:29] Speaker 5: up for self defense training, and you know, twenty two
[7:33] Speaker 5: is kind of a different beast, right so it's really
[7:35] Speaker 5: not considered a self defense round.
[7:37] Speaker 6: I think that is probably why.
[7:39] Speaker 5: But I would also say there's a very weird thing
[7:42] Speaker 5: happening in the market right now, which your listeners may
[7:45] Speaker 5: not have heard of or.
[7:46] Speaker 6: Heard about at this point.
[7:48] Speaker 5: It's very odd because I've never quite seen the market
[7:50] Speaker 5: like this before.
[7:51] Speaker 6: There's not a lot of supply in the market.
[7:53] Speaker 5: So even on like nine and two two three, which
[7:55] Speaker 5: are the most common they probably make up depending on
[7:57] Speaker 5: the business, between fifty and eighty percent of the revenue
[8:00] Speaker 5: of a business selling M is going to be in
[8:02] Speaker 5: nine and two two three. It's not a lot of
[8:05] Speaker 5: that coming from the major manufacturers in the marketplace.
[8:08] Speaker 6: Yet. Prices haven't really moved, which is good for the consumer,
[8:12] Speaker 6: but it's not normal Normally when there's not.
[8:14] Speaker 5: A lot of supply coming, prices go up so I
[8:17] Speaker 5: will openly admit I have no idea what is going on, Tom,
[8:21] Speaker 5: but it.
[8:21] Speaker 6: Is kind of a weird thing.
[8:22] Speaker 5: And if we're going to talk about, you know, where
[8:23] Speaker 5: the market is and what people are stocking up on
[8:25] Speaker 5: or not, I would put that out there for your listeners.
[8:30] Speaker 5: And I suppose the point of all that is we
[8:33] Speaker 5: are in a normal market price environment right now, but
[8:35] Speaker 5: we never know how long it's going to last. Yeah,
[8:37] Speaker 5: I don't like to participate in fear monitoring, and I'm
[8:40] Speaker 5: not doing that here.
[8:41] Speaker 6: I truly don't know. But the market is weird right now.
[8:44] Speaker 3: Well to your point though, but if you have a
[8:46] Speaker 3: shortage or at least the availability is not what it
[8:50] Speaker 3: has been on which you think it should be, logically
[8:53] Speaker 3: one would say there is at least a decent chance
[8:55] Speaker 3: at some point the prices are going to be adjusted
[8:59] Speaker 3: to allow for that market consideration and going okay, now
[9:03] Speaker 3: there's prices could go up. It's what we're talking about.
[9:05] Speaker 3: So it's when prices are low and they are now. Look,
[9:09] Speaker 3: if you've been buying animal for thirty years, prices are.
[9:11] Speaker 6: Not lower, they don't seem well, But then again.
[9:14] Speaker 3: You also can't buy a car for what you could
[9:15] Speaker 3: buy it four for thirty years ago, so it's kind
[9:17] Speaker 3: of the same.
[9:18] Speaker 6: Paid five and a half dollars for gallon milk today?
[9:21] Speaker 3: Yes, exactly right, all right, So tell me this. What's
[9:25] Speaker 3: the story with Dan Wolgen. Where did you come from?
[9:29] Speaker 3: How did you get into this thing?
[9:31] Speaker 5: I've got to I guess a very weird story from
[9:33] Speaker 5: that perspective. I grew up in Pennsylvania, right outside of Philadelphia.
[9:39] Speaker 6: Uh, And I.
[9:39] Speaker 5: Grew up in a very suburban area, so not like
[9:42] Speaker 5: we were going out back and hunting. But my family
[9:45] Speaker 5: was involved in the shooting sports. My father was a hunter,
[9:48] Speaker 5: and I was exposed to it.
[9:50] Speaker 6: I actually, you're not gonna believe this.
[9:53] Speaker 5: I've gone to Utah to hunt antelope. I've never gone
[9:56] Speaker 5: white tail deer hunting. I have tried and tried and
[9:59] Speaker 5: tried growing up.
[10:00] Speaker 6: It's crazy. It's really odd.
[10:03] Speaker 4: I know.
[10:04] Speaker 5: I would set it up every year, and whatever weekend
[10:06] Speaker 5: had happened to fall on, the guys I was going
[10:08] Speaker 5: with were all snowplowd drivers, and it would snow and
[10:12] Speaker 5: they would all have to go and work and the
[10:14] Speaker 5: hunt will get canceled. This happened, I don't know, maybe
[10:16] Speaker 5: four or five times something or other thing that ultimately
[10:19] Speaker 5: canceled the hunt. So I found that really very funny.
[10:23] Speaker 5: I still remember practicing, you know, I'd never really been shooting.
[10:26] Speaker 5: I had a Mosburg smooth barrel that I was shooting
[10:29] Speaker 5: slugs out of. This is what I was going to
[10:31] Speaker 5: take to go deer hunting. And I remember I found
[10:34] Speaker 5: an outdoor range. I went up by myself. I must
[10:36] Speaker 5: have shot fifty sixty rounds of twelve gage.
[10:40] Speaker 6: Man. I couldn't move the next day. It was almost
[10:43] Speaker 6: a good thing that I got canceled. My whole right
[10:46] Speaker 6: shoulder and chest were all bruised.
[10:47] Speaker 5: You know, I didn't have anybody there at that point, unfortunately,
[10:50] Speaker 5: to teach me. So anyway, fast forward, many many years,
[10:53] Speaker 5: through many different avenues. I was actually educated as an engineer,
[10:56] Speaker 5: and then I worked in finance for some time, and
[10:59] Speaker 5: then I was able, lucky enough to join the founders
[11:02] Speaker 5: of this company, Ammunition Depot, who were growing like crazy
[11:05] Speaker 5: and needed some more bodies there to help. And over
[11:10] Speaker 5: the years have become the CEO and also the owner
[11:14] Speaker 5: of Ammunition Depot. So I've been firmly entrenched in this
[11:18] Speaker 5: industry and this culture for over fifteen years. Now, but
[11:22] Speaker 5: I'd say it all started. I'm actually, while we're talking
[11:25] Speaker 5: about this, from any things.
[11:25] Speaker 6: When I was a kid, I built a flip lock
[11:28] Speaker 6: pistol from a kid with my dad. I remember that.
[11:31] Speaker 4: Now.
[11:31] Speaker 5: That's probably the first exposure that I had to this
[11:36] Speaker 5: world was that, and then here we are.
[11:40] Speaker 6: Who would have thunk it?
[11:41] Speaker 4: Well, Ded?
[11:42] Speaker 3: I like the approach you say, Look, we may not
[11:45] Speaker 3: be the cheapest, we're going to be real close to
[11:47] Speaker 3: the cheapest, but we are going to be the best.
[11:48] Speaker 3: We're going to take care of you, and you're going
[11:50] Speaker 3: to enjoy your relationship with us, and if there's a problem,
[11:54] Speaker 3: we'll own up to it and we'll take care of you.
[11:56] Speaker 4: That's a I think that's a very enlightened approach.
[11:59] Speaker 5: I appreciate that, and I'll just say because my team
[12:02] Speaker 5: will get mad at me if I don't. We may
[12:04] Speaker 5: be the cheapest, sure, thank yet a lot of times
[12:08] Speaker 5: we will be the cheapest, but not always.
[12:11] Speaker 6: It's not our primary goal.
[12:12] Speaker 5: Our primary goal is to ensure that we're running a
[12:14] Speaker 5: healthy business, taking care of our customers, and that we're
[12:17] Speaker 5: going to be here next year and in five years,
[12:20] Speaker 5: and in ten years and fifty years, God willing.
[12:23] Speaker 3: Yeah, And honestly, at least from my perspective, I've got
[12:25] Speaker 3: to the point where the two cents around or whatever
[12:28] Speaker 3: it is, is not worth worrying. If I'm going to
[12:31] Speaker 3: get the ship better, what's going to happen? What condition
[12:33] Speaker 3: it's going to be in when it gets here? Is
[12:34] Speaker 3: the box going to be broken open as your handle's
[12:36] Speaker 3: spilling out all over the place. I want to deal
[12:38] Speaker 3: with a reputable company that cares. We are that for sure, man, Thank.
[12:43] Speaker 4: You so much.
[12:43] Speaker 3: I appreciate it's called ammunition depot. Good luck with the
[12:46] Speaker 3: whole thing.
[12:47] Speaker 6: Man, Thanks, Tom, appreciate it all.
[12:49] Speaker 4: Right, don't go far. We'll be right back with more
[12:51] Speaker 4: gun talk.

[15:39] Speaker 3: Oh this is just a quick little side trip. See
[15:42] Speaker 3: the story by AWR. Hawkins. This is so A month
[15:46] Speaker 3: or two ago, Chicago White Sox support gun control lobbies
[15:51] Speaker 3: every Town for Gun Safety. So the Chicago White Sox
[15:55] Speaker 3: used an X post to proclaim their support from Mike
[15:58] Speaker 3: Bloomberg affiliated every Town for Gun Safety. This is support
[16:03] Speaker 3: for the Gun Violence Awareness Day. So the White Sox
[16:08] Speaker 3: put out a post on X to support that. The
[16:12] Speaker 3: Philadelphia Egos did the same thing. They marked gun Violence
[16:15] Speaker 3: Awareness Day with an ex post they changed their team
[16:18] Speaker 3: logo colors from green and white to orange and white.
[16:21] Speaker 3: Orange is the official color of the Gun Violence Awareness Day.
[16:27] Speaker 3: My thought on that is this, I guarantee you that
[16:32] Speaker 3: the gun band lobby, the every Town for Gun Safety
[16:35] Speaker 3: people went to these sports teams and encouraged their social
[16:39] Speaker 3: media people to do something just to support this gun
[16:44] Speaker 3: safety measure, and the people involved the sake, well, at
[16:50] Speaker 3: the teams, it's a freeviewers throw it out there. Who
[16:53] Speaker 3: could object to that, not understanding that this is the
[16:59] Speaker 3: gun band lobby. These are the people who want to
[17:01] Speaker 3: take away all our guns without a doubt, not overstating it.
[17:06] Speaker 3: They clearly say that everyone smile. They'll actually say the
[17:09] Speaker 3: quiet part out loud, and you know we can shrug
[17:14] Speaker 3: and go, yeah, okay, that's just stupid, or I'm just
[17:16] Speaker 3: not going to watch their shows or their games. Okay,
[17:21] Speaker 3: But that really doesn't do anything because they don't know
[17:23] Speaker 3: why if they feel the impact at all, they don't
[17:25] Speaker 3: know what happened. The only way that it has an
[17:29] Speaker 3: impact is if we respond directly to them, and every
[17:34] Speaker 3: time you see it you respawn with no, you guys
[17:38] Speaker 3: are wrong. You have been conned by the gun band lobby.
[17:41] Speaker 3: It's why twenty five years ago I created the gun
[17:45] Speaker 3: Talk Truth Squad. Our motto is a lie left unchallenged,
[17:52] Speaker 3: becomes the truth. Therefore, we will challenge every lie every
[17:59] Speaker 3: time we see it, every time we hear it, we
[18:01] Speaker 3: will push back. We were not just shrugging, go oh yeah,
[18:04] Speaker 3: it's this way it is. It's just the media, it's
[18:07] Speaker 3: just the sports teams. They're just all woke. Now, the
[18:11] Speaker 3: way you get them to stop doing that is to
[18:14] Speaker 3: push back and say, yeah, there's a cost here.
[18:17] Speaker 4: You think that everybody agrees with you. We don't.
[18:20] Speaker 3: And if they get a couple of comments, they ignore it.
[18:23] Speaker 3: If they get one hundred comments, they start to pay attention.
[18:26] Speaker 3: If they get a thousand comments on their websites, on
[18:31] Speaker 3: their ex posts and every other place, then somebody internally
[18:35] Speaker 3: is going to go, what was that? Who did that?
[18:39] Speaker 3: Who thought that was a good idea? Why don't we
[18:41] Speaker 3: get our outside of our lane. We're a sports team.
[18:45] Speaker 3: Why are we getting involved in these social causes that
[18:49] Speaker 3: actually cause us pushback when we can just stay away
[18:51] Speaker 3: from it and not suffer any ill effects. I'm not
[18:57] Speaker 3: saying they're going to become pro gun.
[18:59] Speaker 4: We just want to.
[19:00] Speaker 3: I don't want them to be anti gun. And the
[19:03] Speaker 3: only way the only way you do that is with leverage,
[19:06] Speaker 3: with force force being in this case social media pressure.
[19:09] Speaker 3: And I'm talking about not talking about physical force, okay.
[19:13] Speaker 3: And when I created the Gun Talk Truth Squad way
[19:17] Speaker 3: back like almost before there was an internet. This is
[19:22] Speaker 3: the old school fun stuff stories to tell. The idea
[19:26] Speaker 3: was we could we couldn't get into the media. We
[19:31] Speaker 3: really didn't have a way when articles were published and such,
[19:36] Speaker 3: but newspapers would publish our letters to the editor. So
[19:39] Speaker 3: I asked for volunteers. I wanted to get two people
[19:41] Speaker 3: in each state. I wanted to have one hundred volunteers
[19:44] Speaker 3: who would be the two squad members who would respond
[19:49] Speaker 3: with letters to the editor where we could get a
[19:51] Speaker 3: positive message out. I asked for one hundred, I got
[19:54] Speaker 3: ten thousand, and now it's eighty thousand or whatever it is.
[19:59] Speaker 3: It's crazy and why we aren't sending letters to the
[20:03] Speaker 3: editor anymore. We are, in fact posting things and hunting
[20:07] Speaker 3: down these stories and pushing back. If we don't do it,
[20:13] Speaker 3: no one will. If we let a lie, let it,
[20:16] Speaker 3: just let it go unchallenged. It becomes the truth. When
[20:22] Speaker 3: they say this particular gun is responsible for all these murders.
[20:26] Speaker 3: We know it's not true, but if we don't challenge it,
[20:29] Speaker 3: it becomes the truth because that's what people hear. They
[20:32] Speaker 3: hear it and they believe it. It's why so many
[20:35] Speaker 3: people right now if you ask them, if you said,
[20:38] Speaker 3: what is an assault weapon, they will say as a
[20:42] Speaker 3: machine gun because that's what they've been told over and
[20:46] Speaker 3: over again for decades. We know it's not true, but
[20:50] Speaker 3: they don't know it's not true. How could they know.
[20:54] Speaker 3: So if you say, Okay, I don't have time, I
[20:58] Speaker 3: don't have money to be involved another thing, I'm not
[21:00] Speaker 3: going to go to the state legislature, I wish you would.
[21:02] Speaker 3: But if you're not, you could become an online social
[21:06] Speaker 3: gun rights warrior, hunt down these stories and respond to them,
[21:11] Speaker 3: and then send the links for these stories to all
[21:15] Speaker 3: your friends online and say I need each of you
[21:18] Speaker 3: to respond in the comments section. I need each of
[21:22] Speaker 3: you to respond with a reply on X to this
[21:28] Speaker 3: and believe or not, you may not be on X,
[21:31] Speaker 3: which was Twitter. It is now where the media goes.
[21:36] Speaker 3: It is now where politicians go to check the pulse
[21:42] Speaker 3: to find out what's going on, to get their messages out.
[21:45] Speaker 3: It has become the platform for that. Now, if you
[21:48] Speaker 3: want to do your stupid cat tricks, you got you know,
[21:51] Speaker 3: TikTok and maybe Instagram. Instagram is a bit more grounded.
[21:57] Speaker 3: Perhaps maybe, But if you want to have influence with
[22:01] Speaker 3: people who have power and have the ability to make changes,
[22:05] Speaker 3: X is the place, just just free go over and
[22:08] Speaker 3: joint X. If you get there, follow me. I'll give
[22:10] Speaker 3: you lots of information. I'll give you a lot of
[22:13] Speaker 3: things that you can do to help you become a
[22:16] Speaker 3: gun rights online warrior. I am at gun Talk over
[22:20] Speaker 3: on X Polity over.
[22:21] Speaker 4: There, all right, give you a holler eighty six six
[22:24] Speaker 4: talk gun Have you been shooting? What have you been shooting?
[22:26] Speaker 4: I'll give you my arrange reportant we come back. I'm
[22:29] Speaker 4: Tom Greshtan.
[22:30] Speaker 3: This this gun talk, all right. I got a lot
[22:38] Speaker 3: of things to talk about. I got a couple of
[22:40] Speaker 3: guests lined up. Callers in here, Larry and Paul. Don't
[22:43] Speaker 3: going to where I'm going to get to you. I
[22:45] Speaker 3: do want to address something. We talk about a lot
[22:48] Speaker 3: of cool guns and a lot of expensive guns and
[22:50] Speaker 3: all that, but you know, there are some really nice
[22:52] Speaker 3: guns at very affordable prices. And if you're looking for
[22:58] Speaker 3: a carry gun, there's a couple I would record men
[23:00] Speaker 3: you at least take a look at their microcompacts. In
[23:02] Speaker 3: nine now I've talked about the Smith and Western body
[23:05] Speaker 3: Guard two point oh. It's a three eighty and it's delightful,
[23:08] Speaker 3: really shoots well. But if you want a name elevator,
[23:11] Speaker 3: let me throw out two names. Certainly not exclusive, there's
[23:14] Speaker 3: a lot of other ones out there, but two that
[23:16] Speaker 3: I don't think get the attention they deserve. One is
[23:22] Speaker 3: the Smith and Weston Shield Plus. Very nice little pistol.
[23:26] Speaker 3: You know, you're looking at hundred five hundred bucks out there.
[23:30] Speaker 3: Four I think it's thirteen plus one capacity and the
[23:33] Speaker 3: shield plus. Also on the Ruger side of things, you've
[23:35] Speaker 3: got the Ruger Max nine. I think it's a twelve
[23:38] Speaker 3: plus one again microcompact, very nice, very affordable. I mean
[23:43] Speaker 3: that one's really affordable. MSRP is three hundred bucks on
[23:47] Speaker 3: this thing. So there are some very nice guns out
[23:49] Speaker 3: there you do not have spent a fortune on. And
[23:52] Speaker 3: that's just a couple of them. But don't feel like
[23:58] Speaker 3: you're getting you're getting less than with these. You're getting
[24:01] Speaker 3: a really good capable self defense gun you can bet
[24:03] Speaker 3: your life on. And yet you want to spend more
[24:06] Speaker 3: and get more you can, and some of us do
[24:08] Speaker 3: just because we like them, but we understand it's not
[24:11] Speaker 3: because we have to. Okay, fair enough, and look in
[24:14] Speaker 3: just a few minutes after we do some other things,
[24:17] Speaker 3: I want to address the Twin Falls shooting. It turns
[24:20] Speaker 3: out there were three good guys with guns trying to
[24:23] Speaker 3: stop this guy. All of them were brave, all of
[24:26] Speaker 3: them responded, but frankly, all of them screwed up. And
[24:30] Speaker 3: I'll give you my take on that when we come back.
[24:32] Speaker 3: First of all, let's go grab the phones. Line five.
[24:35] Speaker 3: Larry's with us out of Wichtaft Falls, Texas. Larry, thank
[24:37] Speaker 3: you for your patience. What's going on, man?
[24:40] Speaker 12: Well, a few weeks ago I called you about my
[24:44] Speaker 12: FN reflex that was misfiring and stuff, and I remember that.
[24:51] Speaker 6: Good.
[24:52] Speaker 13: Well.
[24:53] Speaker 12: I notified the factory. They said, they sent me a label.
[24:57] Speaker 12: I sent it in. I got an email sho after
[25:00] Speaker 12: that explaining what they fixed. And then about a less
[25:04] Speaker 12: than a week later, I signed for my pistol and
[25:07] Speaker 12: it was all fixed up. They had to replace the
[25:09] Speaker 12: firing pin and the retainer for the firing pin. Do
[25:12] Speaker 12: you remember kind of pulling my leg about mounting an
[25:15] Speaker 12: optic comment, and that was probably the cause of the problem. Well,
[25:21] Speaker 12: as it turns out now, they FM didn't say anything
[25:24] Speaker 12: to me. They just said they fixed the pistol. But
[25:27] Speaker 12: like I normally do, I went to mountain optic back
[25:29] Speaker 12: on it, and I hit my favorite Google to get
[25:33] Speaker 12: the right torque on the screws like I had the
[25:35] Speaker 12: first time, only this time, instead of popping up with
[25:39] Speaker 12: AI and saying I should tork them to whatever inch pounds,
[25:44] Speaker 12: it popped up with a service bulletin from FN from
[25:47] Speaker 12: twenty twenty five warning that if you mount an optic
[25:51] Speaker 12: on a reflexed pistol, make sure you use the proper
[25:54] Speaker 12: linked screws or you could impair the firing pin.
[26:00] Speaker 4: Oh gee, you mean like Tom said?
[26:03] Speaker 12: Yeah, yeah, I.
[26:06] Speaker 13: Saw that.
[26:07] Speaker 12: I laughed. Yeah a second, sir.
[26:12] Speaker 4: All right, all right, no, I'm good. I can hear you.
[26:16] Speaker 3: Fine, yep, where we maybe lose them, but we'll keep
[26:22] Speaker 3: him on there for the uh oh he dropped off. Okay, well, look, Larry,
[26:25] Speaker 3: we dropped you dropped out. You had some bad connection there,
[26:28] Speaker 3: But I appreciate the follow up on that.
[26:30] Speaker 4: Yeah. The takeaways are.
[26:32] Speaker 3: This, when you add anything to your gun, you also
[26:36] Speaker 3: add complications and possible issues. So if you where do
[26:40] Speaker 3: they say that, if something's going wrong, figure out the
[26:43] Speaker 3: last thing you touched and untouched it. We do that
[26:45] Speaker 3: with aviation. What was the last thing I touched? What's
[26:47] Speaker 3: the last control I made? Go back and undo that one.
[26:50] Speaker 3: Maybe the engine will start again, we hope. But in
[26:53] Speaker 3: this case, uh, it's good. The other takeaway is f
[26:57] Speaker 3: N fixed it. People say, well, I bought this gun.
[26:59] Speaker 3: Sh can be malfunctioned. Yeah, I know, I get it.
[27:02] Speaker 3: They don't want it to malfunction either. They surely don't
[27:04] Speaker 3: want you to call me on national radio and complained
[27:07] Speaker 3: about it by name. So I said, look, give f
[27:10] Speaker 3: In a chance. Every gun company I know will make
[27:13] Speaker 3: it right for you, and they will do it as
[27:15] Speaker 3: quickly as possible. So good on FN and Larry. I
[27:18] Speaker 3: appreciate you followed up because people are quick to complain
[27:22] Speaker 3: and often not quick to give credit where credit is due,
[27:25] Speaker 3: and Larry did a good thing there. We appreciate that.
[27:27] Speaker 3: Let's grab Paul on line one out of Casper, Wyoming. Hey, Paul,
[27:30] Speaker 3: what's cooking?
[27:32] Speaker 13: Hello?
[27:33] Speaker 14: I'm wondering. Okay, short barrel rifles. Uh ar, I've already
[27:42] Speaker 14: got a short barrel or my AR so am I good?
[27:51] Speaker 3: Wait wait I need more explanation. What are you talking
[27:54] Speaker 3: about here?
[27:55] Speaker 14: Okay? Uh, short barrel rifles AR. The lower is the
[28:02] Speaker 14: registered part. The upper the barrel has no.
[28:11] Speaker 3: What what do you have? Do you have a lower
[28:14] Speaker 3: that is registered SBR.
[28:18] Speaker 14: H No?
[28:19] Speaker 13: Nothing?
[28:21] Speaker 3: Okay, So you want to put you want to put
[28:23] Speaker 3: a short barrel on your AR lower?
[28:26] Speaker 4: Correct?
[28:27] Speaker 14: Yep, exactly.
[28:30] Speaker 3: Okay. You're going to get conflicting information about this on
[28:37] Speaker 3: the internet.
[28:38] Speaker 4: If you look.
[28:40] Speaker 3: I'm going to tell you one thing, and people are
[28:41] Speaker 3: going to tell tell you, oh, Tom didn't nobody's talking
[28:44] Speaker 3: about which often is the case. I'll admit that in
[28:46] Speaker 3: this case, I'm going to suggest you go slowly converting
[28:52] Speaker 3: your gun to an SBR without a form sitting in
[28:57] Speaker 3: the form four one whatever it is.
[28:59] Speaker 11: Uh.
[29:00] Speaker 3: For one thing, I think you have to be part
[29:06] Speaker 3: of a particular class. There were two different lawsuits here
[29:09] Speaker 3: that just got decided in Texas, and only one of
[29:12] Speaker 3: them covered the SBRs. The other one did not, and
[29:15] Speaker 3: so only one set of plaintiffs and groups are covered.
[29:19] Speaker 4: By that.
[29:19] Speaker 3: But I would just say this, I think in this case,
[29:24] Speaker 3: patience is a virtue. Let's wait until we get a
[29:27] Speaker 3: bit more information about what you can and cannot do
[29:31] Speaker 3: in making your own SBR. We will get some guidance
[29:37] Speaker 3: from ATF and from the FEDS here, probably in a
[29:40] Speaker 3: few weeks, maybe a month or so, and at that
[29:42] Speaker 3: point we'll know what you can do.
[29:44] Speaker 4: Here's the problem. We would love to all of us
[29:47] Speaker 4: would love to do this.
[29:50] Speaker 3: The potential penalties that we could run into are catastrophic,
[29:57] Speaker 3: frankly if somebody from the FEDS decide they wanted to
[30:00] Speaker 3: come after you. So I would just recommend you just
[30:03] Speaker 3: have some patience wait on it right now. Like I say,
[30:05] Speaker 3: in a week or two or three, we're going to
[30:07] Speaker 3: get a good bit more information. This thing is brand new,
[30:09] Speaker 3: is very very fresh. So look, I appreciate the call.
[30:12] Speaker 3: I'm glad you ask. It gives me a chance to
[30:14] Speaker 3: address this. Another thing, this lawsuit which was decided in
[30:19] Speaker 3: Texas that the judge put in it's his decision and
[30:22] Speaker 3: said I'm going to put a seven days stay on it,
[30:27] Speaker 3: which is a waiting pair to pause before it goes
[30:29] Speaker 3: into effect. And the government has seven days to appeal
[30:33] Speaker 3: the case or the stay. The government decided not to
[30:36] Speaker 3: appeal the stay the pause, but there's another sixty days
[30:41] Speaker 3: during which the government Department of Justice can still appeal
[30:47] Speaker 3: the decision itself. So the injunction has taken place and
[30:54] Speaker 3: they're not appealing that, but it's conceivable they could come
[30:58] Speaker 3: back and make it appeal and say, ok we disagree
[31:01] Speaker 3: with this decision and we think that suppressor should still
[31:04] Speaker 3: fall under NFA. Here's what I'm getting, inside information, behind
[31:10] Speaker 3: the scenes.
[31:12] Speaker 4: Deep throat stuff, whatever.
[31:15] Speaker 3: I'm getting the information that almost certainly the government is
[31:22] Speaker 3: not going to appeal the decision. They're gonna let it stand.
[31:29] Speaker 3: There are at least two other cases out there challenging
[31:32] Speaker 3: the NFA on other grounds. This was not a second
[31:35] Speaker 3: mimic case. We need a second Amendment decision on this.
[31:39] Speaker 3: And here's why this was decided because we remove the
[31:44] Speaker 3: tax in one big beautiful bill, so okay, no tax
[31:47] Speaker 3: on suppressors. And then the losses said, well, if there's
[31:51] Speaker 3: no tax, then you have no basis for requiring registration.
[31:55] Speaker 3: Because the NFA, the National Farms Act, was done as
[31:58] Speaker 3: a tax course. It said, yeah, there's no tax, and
[32:01] Speaker 3: you can't require registration for having because the registration is
[32:04] Speaker 3: to prove that you pay the tax. Here's the problem.
[32:08] Speaker 3: When the Democrats get control of Congress, and they will
[32:12] Speaker 3: possibly probably admit terms this year, get a reconciliation bill
[32:18] Speaker 3: where they don't have to have a veto override, they
[32:22] Speaker 3: could reinstitute a tax because in a reconciliation bill you
[32:27] Speaker 3: can do tax stuff. They could put a tax back
[32:29] Speaker 3: on suppressors. Instead of it being two hundred dollars, they
[32:32] Speaker 3: can make it two thousand dollars or four thousand dollars
[32:35] Speaker 3: and require registration of suppressors. Then the question is would
[32:39] Speaker 3: Donald Trump veto a reconciliation bill just to protect suppressors.
[32:50] Speaker 3: People can vote either way on that one. Figure out
[32:53] Speaker 3: where you are on that. It may be that we're
[32:58] Speaker 3: looking at basically that in California they had Freedom Week
[33:03] Speaker 3: where they had one week to buy standard capacity magazines,
[33:06] Speaker 3: and then that door slam shut. Freedom Week became this
[33:09] Speaker 3: thing that people knew about it. Maybe we are in
[33:12] Speaker 3: a freedom Week which is going to extend to some months,
[33:15] Speaker 3: but after the midterm elections and when the new Congress
[33:19] Speaker 3: comes in, we could be hearing that door slam and
[33:22] Speaker 3: shut on this decision unless we can get a good
[33:25] Speaker 3: second amendment case is that it's not a tax issue,
[33:28] Speaker 3: it's a second Amendment issue. So all about to say,
[33:32] Speaker 3: just be careful do your research. I mean people are
[33:38] Speaker 3: buying them right now. You go to a lot of
[33:40] Speaker 3: stores and buys the pressure without filing the Form four
[33:43] Speaker 3: doing any of that registration, and if you can, you should. Frankly,
[33:46] Speaker 3: I think I would do that on SBRs and SBS's.
[33:51] Speaker 3: There's a little bit more information we need and as
[33:53] Speaker 3: that comes forward, I'll give that information out here as well.
[33:57] Speaker 4: Let's grab line three. David with us out of White
[34:01] Speaker 4: City Organ.
[34:01] Speaker 3: Hey David, what you been shooting? See if David's still there? Hey, hey, David,
[34:09] Speaker 3: you're there. He's not there, okay, he's got me muted.
[34:12] Speaker 3: He's watching you know, sports or I love Lucy reruns
[34:15] Speaker 3: or something that's okay, that's okay. It gives me a
[34:17] Speaker 3: chance to do my own range report. I went to
[34:19] Speaker 3: the range yesterday. Remember last week I was telling you
[34:22] Speaker 3: I was having problems with my thirty out six. I
[34:24] Speaker 3: was working up loads for it. Frankly, it was shooting terribly.
[34:29] Speaker 3: I'm talking three inch groups one hundred yards and it's
[34:32] Speaker 3: an ultra light arms, one of the Melvin Forbes models.
[34:35] Speaker 4: And they usually shoot really well. And I was.
[34:38] Speaker 3: Shooting one hundred and eighty grain nozz of pratitions and
[34:42] Speaker 3: just it wasn't doing well at all. So I said, well,
[34:46] Speaker 3: let's change some things up. So I switched to one
[34:48] Speaker 3: hundred and sixty five grain nozzler acubine bullet, and I
[34:52] Speaker 3: switched powders as well. Went to reloader seventeen and I
[34:57] Speaker 3: loaded five rounds each a three different charges with increasing
[35:02] Speaker 3: powder charges, working my way up to the published max.
[35:07] Speaker 3: In the first five rounds I shot, I went, well,
[35:10] Speaker 3: that's better, but it's not great.
[35:13] Speaker 4: It was like a two to two and a half
[35:15] Speaker 4: inch group. Darn.
[35:17] Speaker 3: And then so I shot the next five rounds, which
[35:21] Speaker 3: was two grains more powder, and the group shranked to
[35:25] Speaker 3: like an inch and a half to two inches. I went, Okay,
[35:28] Speaker 3: that's looking good. And then I remember a year or
[35:31] Speaker 3: two ago I was doing the same thing basically with
[35:34] Speaker 3: the same power reloader seventeen. For whatever reason, it likes
[35:38] Speaker 3: to be right up at max and with another rifle.
[35:42] Speaker 3: The group shrank as I got closer and closer to
[35:44] Speaker 3: the max powder charge so I went ed, went to
[35:47] Speaker 3: the max powder charge in this one and shot that.
[35:52] Speaker 3: I got a one inch group and I pushed one
[35:56] Speaker 3: hundred and sixty five gran thirty colive bullet at three
[35:59] Speaker 3: thousand and per second on the Crown draft.
[36:01] Speaker 4: What's done, cleare victory.
[36:05] Speaker 3: That's gonna be my Well, it's going to be my
[36:07] Speaker 3: backup rifle for my elk hunt. But honestly, it would
[36:11] Speaker 3: work fine as a primary. It'll probably be my backup
[36:15] Speaker 3: gun on a deer hunt, but it would work fine
[36:18] Speaker 3: as the primary on that. While I was there, I
[36:22] Speaker 3: shot my two fifty seven Roberts actually improved and my
[36:25] Speaker 3: three point thirty eight actually improved, and got both of
[36:31] Speaker 3: them on, got them all shooting hitting about three inches
[36:34] Speaker 3: high at one hundred yards.
[36:36] Speaker 4: Why would you do that? Tom? You can use the
[36:38] Speaker 4: dialing scopes. Because I don't like the dialing scoopes. That's why.
[36:42] Speaker 3: For me, Yes, I do sound like that old guy.
[36:46] Speaker 3: You know why, because I have experience. The more complication
[36:50] Speaker 3: you put into things, the more opportunities you have for
[36:52] Speaker 3: things to fail. And if I sight in these rifles,
[36:57] Speaker 3: all of them three inches high one hundred yards, I
[37:01] Speaker 3: can hold on to three hundred and fifty yards and
[37:06] Speaker 3: hit right where I want to hit on an elk,
[37:09] Speaker 3: I won't be more than four inches high, and I
[37:11] Speaker 3: won't be more than four inches low. Now with the
[37:13] Speaker 3: three thirty eight out six, it has more drop, so
[37:16] Speaker 3: I've got alloted a little bit more. But it's interesting.
[37:19] Speaker 3: I checked the trajectory of the thirty six used one
[37:23] Speaker 3: hundred and sixty five grain bullet, and the two fifty
[37:27] Speaker 3: seven Roberts actually improved using one hundred and fifteen grain
[37:33] Speaker 3: ballistic tip. I was a blistic tip at thirty one
[37:36] Speaker 3: hundred feet per second, and they have almost identical trajectories
[37:43] Speaker 3: three inches high at one hundred and the drop is
[37:45] Speaker 3: the same out to four hundred, so I don't even
[37:48] Speaker 3: have to worry about it. So I'm good to go.
[37:51] Speaker 3: I got all three rifles now, thank goodness. I've worked
[37:54] Speaker 3: up the loads and they're ready to go. So I've
[37:56] Speaker 3: got Elcott next month, and then I've got two mule
[38:01] Speaker 3: deer tags, one in October, one in November. And who
[38:05] Speaker 3: knows what else is going to be walking around out there.
[38:07] Speaker 3: I've got man, I got tags for bear for wolves.
[38:14] Speaker 3: Just that's the one thing I do love about being
[38:16] Speaker 3: a resident in Idaho. I mean each of those tags
[38:19] Speaker 3: is like seven bucks. So it's like, why would you
[38:23] Speaker 3: the chances of seeing a wolf, much less getting get
[38:26] Speaker 3: shot at a wolf. I might as well be looking
[38:28] Speaker 3: for cashper the ghost out there. It's probably not gonna happen,
[38:32] Speaker 3: you know, but for seven bucks, you put the tag
[38:34] Speaker 3: in your pocket just because it might happen, right, simple
[38:37] Speaker 3: as that. So that's my range report. Went out and
[38:40] Speaker 3: shot some nice rifles. Finally, what a relief got that
[38:45] Speaker 3: odd six shooting? I was beginning to wonder. I was thinking, Man,
[38:48] Speaker 3: am I gonna have a bad rifle here?
[38:51] Speaker 4: Yeah? No, I didn't think. So it's Melvin's rifles.
[38:54] Speaker 3: Always shoot, and I know if those are saying and
[38:57] Speaker 3: it's that's nothing.
[38:58] Speaker 4: It's fine.
[39:00] Speaker 3: When I'm shooting a big bullet, find a head and out,
[39:02] Speaker 3: it's going to be just fine. That's a four inch
[39:05] Speaker 3: group at four hundred yards, not a worry. Just shoot him,
[39:09] Speaker 3: sharpen your knife fair enough. Our number here is eighty
[39:12] Speaker 3: six y six talk gun. Clearly it's also Tom talk gun.
[39:15] Speaker 3: If there's something on your mind, a carry pistol you're
[39:18] Speaker 3: thinking about buying, give me a call.
[39:19] Speaker 4: We'll talk about it.
[39:28] Speaker 3: If you've listened to this for any length of time,
[39:30] Speaker 3: you know how much I like good glass. Will be
[39:32] Speaker 3: talking about really good glass. Oh just a few minutes.
[39:35] Speaker 3: You do not want to miss that. Let's go grab
[39:36] Speaker 3: the phones though, because Mike's called in out of Winchester, Tennessee. Mike,
[39:40] Speaker 3: you're on the air. You've been playing with recoil springs.
[39:43] Speaker 13: Out here, That is true, Tom, Always good to talk
[39:46] Speaker 13: to you, buddy.
[39:47] Speaker 14: Hey.
[39:48] Speaker 13: So yeah, recently, so all the yours I was in
[39:50] Speaker 13: law enforcement, right, we were not allowed to modify our
[39:53] Speaker 13: weapons at all. I mean they had to be boone stock.
[39:56] Speaker 9: Right.
[39:56] Speaker 13: It's a I guess they called it a reliability and
[40:00] Speaker 13: a liability issue, right.
[40:02] Speaker 12: And so now that.
[40:04] Speaker 13: I'm retired, my brother, oldest brother has been shooting competition
[40:07] Speaker 13: for a while. He got me into CZ pistols and
[40:10] Speaker 13: he said that most of the pistols semi autus are
[40:14] Speaker 13: oversprung at the factory. And all the years I've been shooting,
[40:18] Speaker 13: I never even knew what that was. And so I've
[40:21] Speaker 13: started looking. You know, I've been buying a couple of
[40:24] Speaker 13: things that I've showed you, and amazing difference in buying,
[40:29] Speaker 13: you know, getting away from the you know the plastic
[40:32] Speaker 13: guide road and the you know, the eighteen pounds springs
[40:36] Speaker 13: and ordering different things from a couple of different companies
[40:40] Speaker 13: for the CZ and the Walter pistols with the stainless
[40:44] Speaker 13: steel captured guide rod with a lowered spring rate, and
[40:48] Speaker 13: you call these vendors in that world wealth of information.
[40:54] Speaker 13: One of them for the PDP, I got nine percent
[40:57] Speaker 13: reduction spring with a encapsule a stainless seel guide rud.
[41:02] Speaker 13: It made a world of difference in that pistol.
[41:04] Speaker 4: I mean what difference When you say a world of difference?
[41:08] Speaker 4: What was the difference?
[41:09] Speaker 3: Different way of feeling of reliability or accuracy? What are
[41:13] Speaker 3: we talking about?
[41:14] Speaker 13: Yeah, so it's a lot smoother to wrack the slide,
[41:18] Speaker 13: and it's you can tell it's lighter. But the recoil
[41:22] Speaker 13: impulse is a lot different. Where on the water you know,
[41:27] Speaker 13: it's it's it used to be kind of tight, I
[41:31] Speaker 13: want to say, and the recoil impulse was more of
[41:34] Speaker 13: a snap, you know, but now it's a lot smoother.
[41:38] Speaker 13: It's almost like shooting in nineteen eleven where it comes
[41:41] Speaker 13: back and as soon as it goes back into battery,
[41:44] Speaker 13: you're right on target, all right.
[41:47] Speaker 4: But you do know, I know, you know this.
[41:49] Speaker 3: If you go to a lighter spring, you're going to
[41:52] Speaker 3: maybe you get those benefits, maybe not.
[41:54] Speaker 4: And people need to understand.
[41:55] Speaker 3: You can swap springs out and change it back and
[41:57] Speaker 3: forth and see what feels good to you, but when
[41:59] Speaker 3: you go to the lighters, there's a very good chance
[42:01] Speaker 3: it's not going to last as long as a stronger spring,
[42:04] Speaker 3: and you're going to have to replace I mean, look,
[42:06] Speaker 3: springs are cheap anyway, but you probably will have to
[42:08] Speaker 3: replace that spring a bit more often, right right, Oh.
[42:12] Speaker 13: Absolutely, But I'm not shooting competition, so.
[42:16] Speaker 3: Oh yeah, because people are shooting competition. If you're going
[42:18] Speaker 3: through three five thousand rounds, it's like, okay, you know,
[42:21] Speaker 3: I got to replace springs every two or three thousand rounds,
[42:24] Speaker 3: which with a factory spring probably not with a lighter spring,
[42:27] Speaker 3: maybe you're replacing the spring every thousand rounds.
[42:29] Speaker 4: But again, I mean, what's the spring costing you? Ten
[42:32] Speaker 4: fifteen bucks?
[42:34] Speaker 13: So the well, the encapsulated ones were forty dollars, but
[42:37] Speaker 13: the actually just replace the spring on my SPO one,
[42:41] Speaker 13: my CZ it's eight bucks, eight dollars.
[42:44] Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, so why not I'll try it? Yeah, just
[42:48] Speaker 3: I mean, and you can also match the spring to
[42:51] Speaker 3: the different loads. If you're using particularly lightweight loads, you
[42:54] Speaker 3: can increase reliability to go into a lighter spring.
[42:59] Speaker 4: If you're going to use really heavy.
[43:01] Speaker 3: Loads, like you said, I'm going to put those big
[43:02] Speaker 3: bear loads in my gun, you might want to go
[43:05] Speaker 3: to a heavier spring and just try it. But look,
[43:09] Speaker 3: here's the other part of it. If you're changing springs out,
[43:13] Speaker 3: now you're on your own. The factory didn't make it
[43:16] Speaker 3: that way, so you are responsible for making sure that
[43:19] Speaker 3: it works the way it's supposed to. How do you
[43:21] Speaker 3: do that? You take it out and shoot it, and
[43:24] Speaker 3: shoot it a lot, put one hundred and two hundred
[43:26] Speaker 3: rounds to it with those loads. Oh but those barrel
[43:29] Speaker 3: loads are expensive.
[43:30] Speaker 4: Uh huh.
[43:31] Speaker 3: But you do want it to work if that bear
[43:34] Speaker 3: is coming at you to chew your leg off, right,
[43:36] Speaker 3: So you might want to run at least a couple
[43:39] Speaker 3: of magazines worse through it just to make sure everything works.
[43:42] Speaker 3: But yeah, good and Mike, thanks for the call. Appreciate
[43:44] Speaker 3: that good comment there. Changing the springs out on your
[43:48] Speaker 3: semi auto pistol is one way to customize it and
[43:51] Speaker 3: fine tuneit. Just know what you're doing, Experiment, and on
[43:55] Speaker 3: up to it. If you screw it up,
