[0:30] Speaker 3: All right, welcome back to gun Talk. Yes we are
[0:33] Speaker 3: at the NRA show in Houston, but we're actually not
[0:36] Speaker 3: because I wanted to get Ryan Gresham on here. He's
[0:38] Speaker 3: the head of gun Talk HQ, but he left the
[0:41] Speaker 3: show to early, so we recorded an interview before the show,
[0:46] Speaker 3: So that's why you're not getting the background noise and
[0:48] Speaker 3: all of that. We actually are still at the show,
[0:50] Speaker 3: but you're just picking up a little bit of a
[0:51] Speaker 3: recorded interview right now.
[0:54] Speaker 4: You know, they get to enjoy some beautiful audio. As
[0:57] Speaker 4: everybody's listening to this, I am zooming down ITM.
[1:00] Speaker 3: That's right. You are hauling time to get back home
[1:02] Speaker 3: to Louisiana from Houston, having spent the entire time at
[1:05] Speaker 3: the NRAA annual meetings. We call it the NRA Show.
[1:09] Speaker 3: It's actually the Annual Meetings, but there's a big exhibit
[1:11] Speaker 3: hall there and we've been having lots of those guests
[1:14] Speaker 3: on here. But I did want to talk about this
[1:16] Speaker 3: latest thing. You know, you and I are guilty. I
[1:19] Speaker 3: guess like a lot of people are. We do a
[1:21] Speaker 3: lot of promotion of everybody else, and that's our business
[1:24] Speaker 3: and getting the word out of all the new stuff
[1:26] Speaker 3: and what cool things people are doing. Sometimes we forget
[1:29] Speaker 3: to tell people what we're doing.
[1:31] Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, So we're always coming up with new ways
[1:34] Speaker 4: to reach people. And of course people who listen to
[1:36] Speaker 4: this they love guns, they love shooting, they love hunting,
[1:39] Speaker 4: they love all of those things. And so we're always
[1:43] Speaker 4: looking for new ways to reach more people and help
[1:45] Speaker 4: you guys find this content. And we created a new way,
[1:51] Speaker 4: but it's sort of an old way. We have a
[1:53] Speaker 4: new television channel called Shooting Sports Life. The way television
[1:58] Speaker 4: is these days and TV, but there's a lot of
[2:01] Speaker 4: definitions of TV. Watching YouTube videos on their TV is
[2:05] Speaker 4: that TV. Well, it's just it's all kind of mixes together,
[2:08] Speaker 4: and so it's a streaming network called Shooting Sports Life.
[2:11] Speaker 4: It's free, it's live, and it's always on.
[2:15] Speaker 3: People say, we have a how do I get it?
[2:17] Speaker 3: Where do I get it? That's kind of the key
[2:19] Speaker 3: because there are so many places now that stream video.
[2:25] Speaker 3: This is a system, this is a service, if you will,
[2:28] Speaker 3: a network that you can actually get on your TV
[2:30] Speaker 3: at home.
[2:31] Speaker 4: Exactly, you can watch it on your TV. You can
[2:33] Speaker 4: also watch it on your on your mobile device, on
[2:36] Speaker 4: your phone or your iPad or whatever. But if you
[2:40] Speaker 4: if you go to Shooting SportsLife dot com, you'll see
[2:42] Speaker 4: more about it. It's we kind of call it your
[2:44] Speaker 4: new favorite channel because if you are into guns, believe
[2:48] Speaker 4: it or not, guys, there is not a dedicated TV
[2:52] Speaker 4: network all about guns and shooting. Yeah, we've been on
[2:55] Speaker 4: a lot of the Outdoor Channel and Sportsman Channel and
[2:58] Speaker 4: stuff like that, but you're liable to run into bass
[3:01] Speaker 4: phishing or rving or a bunch of other things that
[3:04] Speaker 4: may not be your hobby. But if your thing is guns,
[3:08] Speaker 4: this is the channel for you. And so basically, if
[3:11] Speaker 4: you go to Shooting SportsLife dot com, we have ten
[3:14] Speaker 4: different streaming app streaming platforms that are airing the network
[3:20] Speaker 4: right now. And I'm gonna say it once, I'll say
[3:22] Speaker 4: it twice. It's free. This is a free network. There
[3:26] Speaker 4: is no fee to watch it, and it's what is
[3:29] Speaker 4: it like I select my show. No, it's a live
[3:32] Speaker 4: TV channel, just like TV of the old days. You
[3:35] Speaker 4: turn it on and watch it.
[3:37] Speaker 3: Just run in twenty four to seven. You turn it
[3:38] Speaker 3: on and you just find out what's running at the
[3:40] Speaker 3: moment when you turn it on. But it is it's
[3:43] Speaker 3: like all style TV, but it's available from your TV
[3:48] Speaker 3: at home exactly.
[3:49] Speaker 4: So smart TVs and streaming apps is kind of the
[3:52] Speaker 4: easiest way to explain it.
[3:53] Speaker 3: Okay, So just like you would add say Prime or Netflix,
[3:56] Speaker 3: you just add one of these onto your TV and
[4:00] Speaker 3: then exact on that and it'll pop up with this
[4:02] Speaker 3: menu and you pick Shooting Sports Life and turn it
[4:04] Speaker 3: on and sit back and watch gun content just NonStop
[4:09] Speaker 3: exactly exactly.
[4:10] Speaker 4: So we've got a bunch of different apps that are
[4:13] Speaker 4: airing the network right now, and we're going to be
[4:15] Speaker 4: expanding and adding more places to see it. But I
[4:19] Speaker 4: mean places that you may have heard of in the past,
[4:22] Speaker 4: like Truth Plus, which is part of truth Socials. Yeah,
[4:25] Speaker 4: it's part of Trump Media. They have a whole Truth
[4:27] Speaker 4: Plus has all of these free channels. What you're going
[4:30] Speaker 4: to find is when you go on to one of
[4:32] Speaker 4: these places, you go, wait a minute, there's a bunch
[4:35] Speaker 4: of free television channels that I can just watch. And
[4:39] Speaker 4: it's kind of this ecosystem of streaming television really lends
[4:44] Speaker 4: itself to niche audiences. So you've got like Surf TV
[4:50] Speaker 4: or the Tennis channel, or the Home and Garden Channel. Well,
[4:54] Speaker 4: this is the gun channel. It's called Shooting Sports Life,
[4:58] Speaker 4: and there's a lot of ways that you can watch.
[5:01] Speaker 4: It's pretty easy, actually.
[5:02] Speaker 3: So what are you putting on here?
[5:03] Speaker 4: Well, obviously we're gonna we have our shows there, Guns
[5:06] Speaker 4: and Gear, we have First Person Offender. We have some
[5:09] Speaker 4: of the shows that people love and they miss, like
[5:11] Speaker 4: Gun Venture and Buildbox. We've got gun Talk Nation, which
[5:16] Speaker 4: is ya podcast, but podcast are kind of talk shows
[5:19] Speaker 4: these days. We've got Gun Talk Hunt, and we have
[5:23] Speaker 4: new shows that we're going to be putting there as
[5:24] Speaker 4: well in new episodes. Right, So, we're working on the
[5:27] Speaker 4: new season of Guns and Gear covering all the new stuff,
[5:30] Speaker 4: and new seasons of First Person Defender, putting real people
[5:34] Speaker 4: into self defenced scenarios and see how they do and
[5:36] Speaker 4: give them some training and see how they improve.
[5:39] Speaker 3: How long we've been producing video content, that's how much
[5:42] Speaker 3: we've got to deal from right now.
[5:44] Speaker 4: It's a lot. I mean, they hundreds and hundreds of
[5:47] Speaker 4: hours of content that we have, and then we're adding
[5:50] Speaker 4: to it. We're actually kind of in works in talks
[5:54] Speaker 4: with some partners that are to be coming on who
[5:57] Speaker 4: probably some folks that you guys have seen and know
[6:00] Speaker 4: who make really great content and it's going to be
[6:03] Speaker 4: going on the network as well. But kind of your
[6:05] Speaker 4: one stop shop. And I would say this also, Yes,
[6:09] Speaker 4: you can follow gun Talk and your other favorite gun
[6:12] Speaker 4: people on YouTube and Facebook and all that, but the
[6:15] Speaker 4: problem with that is, I mean, we all know it's
[6:17] Speaker 4: the tech platforms, and sometimes people get shadow banned or
[6:21] Speaker 4: get shut down or whatever, and this is a place
[6:23] Speaker 4: where you can go and just watch this stuff. And yes,
[6:27] Speaker 4: believe it or not, we can show gun content and
[6:29] Speaker 4: talk about whatever we want to talk about there.
[6:31] Speaker 3: We have our own television network now, our own channel exactly,
[6:35] Speaker 3: and we could put what we want on it. And
[6:36] Speaker 3: Noway's going to throttle it or shadow band it or
[6:39] Speaker 3: cut us off and it's simply going to be here.
[6:42] Speaker 3: So what's in it for meda, For the listener right
[6:44] Speaker 3: now who likes our video and our content, this is
[6:48] Speaker 3: a way to see stuff that you actually it's been
[6:50] Speaker 3: hidden from you before.
[6:51] Speaker 4: That's true. Yeah, probably a lot of this is new
[6:54] Speaker 4: content for you. But it's really about celebrating the people,
[6:57] Speaker 4: the stories, and the spirit that define the shooting lifestyle.
[7:01] Speaker 4: It's a destination for gun enthusiasts and it's whether that's
[7:07] Speaker 4: skill competition, shooting public figures who share the passion and
[7:13] Speaker 4: and you know, kind of truly live their life on
[7:16] Speaker 4: the range, and it's it's kind of like you get
[7:19] Speaker 4: to go there and you're watching like minded people have
[7:23] Speaker 4: some fun and maybe there's a little education there, maybe
[7:26] Speaker 4: there's an entertainment there, but hopefully it's it's inspiring programming.
[7:31] Speaker 4: And it makes it easier to share with other generations too,
[7:35] Speaker 4: because now it's on the TV. It's not getting it's
[7:39] Speaker 4: in plain sight and you can put it on and
[7:42] Speaker 4: whether that's you know, put it on while you're cooking
[7:44] Speaker 4: and you just kind of leave it on and it's playing,
[7:47] Speaker 4: or whether you sit down to watch it with your
[7:49] Speaker 4: with your kids or or you know, your friends or whatever.
[7:53] Speaker 3: Yeah, there's tactical stuff. There's self defense, there's hunting, there's competition,
[7:58] Speaker 3: there's conversations with all you like Jackcar, I mean just
[8:01] Speaker 3: goes on and on. It's about guns or shooting or
[8:04] Speaker 3: hunting or anything in the gun life, a gun culture.
[8:06] Speaker 4: It's there exactly. Yeah, it's called Shooting Sports Life. So
[8:10] Speaker 4: that's I think the easiest way. Because it's on a
[8:12] Speaker 4: lot of different streaming platforms, the easiest way is to
[8:15] Speaker 4: just go to the website Shooting SportsLife dot com and
[8:18] Speaker 4: then you can find, you know, your favorite streaming app,
[8:21] Speaker 4: whether that's Free Live Sports or stream Mix or Truth
[8:26] Speaker 4: plus or Stir. There's a bunch of them that are
[8:28] Speaker 4: running it right now, and we're always pitching the channel
[8:31] Speaker 4: to more places and so we'll be adding it to
[8:34] Speaker 4: to more like smart TV apps and that kind of
[8:37] Speaker 4: thing down the road as well.
[8:38] Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, just go Shooting SportsLife dot com. You can
[8:40] Speaker 3: see what the leads started there.
[8:41] Speaker 4: Well, thanks thanks for having me on. I hope you
[8:43] Speaker 4: guys will go check it out. It's it's it's a
[8:45] Speaker 4: pretty cool thing to see twenty four to seven gun
[8:48] Speaker 4: content as a streaming network.
[8:52] Speaker 3: It's an audacious, outrageous thing for you to do, but
[8:55] Speaker 3: I'm sure glad that you're doing it. Hey, don't go far.
[8:58] Speaker 3: We'll be right back right here in the riverboot at

[11:43] Speaker 3: All right, we're back from the break here because during
[11:45] Speaker 3: the break we've been talking about guns and shooting. Yeah,
[11:47] Speaker 3: fixed price there right, All right, we're talking with our
[11:51] Speaker 3: longtime friend Andrew Wright from Surefire. And Andrew, we were
[11:54] Speaker 3: just actually we're talked a little bit about Surefire, but we're
[11:57] Speaker 3: talking about this place that you've been to, this amazing
[11:59] Speaker 3: shooting facil in Riggins, Ida about what hour so north
[12:03] Speaker 3: of where I live.
[12:04] Speaker 10: Yeah, exactly, a couple hours outside of Boise.
[12:07] Speaker 3: Right exactly. So what were you doing over there?
[12:10] Speaker 10: So we had an event to launch our new socom
[12:13] Speaker 10: for Series suppressors. There's a facility out there called Hat
[12:17] Speaker 10: Creek Training. A guy named Brian Morgan runs and he
[12:21] Speaker 10: does a lot of precision shooting, specifically high angle precision
[12:24] Speaker 10: shooting training or instruction out there, shooting up, shooting down,
[12:27] Speaker 10: shooting up and shooting down right, a lot of military folk,
[12:30] Speaker 10: high end special operations. But he runs open courses as well,
[12:33] Speaker 10: and it's an amazingly beautiful facility. So we ran that
[12:36] Speaker 10: event out there mainly to launch the suppressors. But obviously
[12:39] Speaker 10: we got in some really good training the high angle stuff.
[12:43] Speaker 10: As we were just talking about, it's an interesting topic.
[12:45] Speaker 10: There's a lot to learn.
[12:46] Speaker 3: Well, yeah, there's geometry involved, and it is not intuitive. Essentially,
[12:54] Speaker 3: whether you're shooting up or shooting down, the bullet hits
[12:56] Speaker 3: higher than your aiming point. Yep. To make it simple
[13:00] Speaker 3: at that level, it's not simple, but that's the essence
[13:04] Speaker 3: of it is that it's the vertical distance, or rather
[13:09] Speaker 3: horizontal distance. If you can do the whole triangle hot
[13:13] Speaker 3: news serect geometry thing, which I can't do.
[13:16] Speaker 10: There's also there's also effects on your barrel pointing up
[13:20] Speaker 10: and pointing down with the way rigidity and gravity works.
[13:24] Speaker 10: Because you know, if I'm holding an object here, leverage
[13:27] Speaker 10: and I'm talking on the radio, But if there's a
[13:29] Speaker 10: bar that.
[13:30] Speaker 3: You're holding out, yeah I can see your hands here.
[13:33] Speaker 10: Yeah, it's going to be pulled down on more than
[13:35] Speaker 10: if it's like this, right, because all the weight is
[13:37] Speaker 10: going downwards, and that makes the difference. It does. It
[13:40] Speaker 10: does the biggest honest honestly, the biggest thing and the
[13:43] Speaker 10: biggest problem I think most people have from what I
[13:45] Speaker 10: saw was just can't. It's very easy to be discombobulated
[13:50] Speaker 10: in the mountains and think you are level with the world, yes,
[13:53] Speaker 10: and not be. And so having a good you know,
[13:56] Speaker 10: some type of anti can't device a level on the
[13:58] Speaker 10: gun to indicate if.
[13:59] Speaker 3: You've got the rifle canted left or right. It may
[14:03] Speaker 3: not make much of a difference at one hundred yards,
[14:04] Speaker 3: but you get out shooting at some serious distances and
[14:07] Speaker 3: it will really throw you off.
[14:08] Speaker 10: Yeah, absolutely, I mean we shot we shot targets at
[14:10] Speaker 10: twenty one hundred meters. Yeah, with with with a three
[14:14] Speaker 10: hundred norma, but most of the shooting we were doing
[14:16] Speaker 10: was with six arc and five five six the sixth
[14:19] Speaker 10: arc we were shooting you know, eight hundred and fifty
[14:21] Speaker 10: meters and in and can't matters a lot when you're
[14:24] Speaker 10: shooting at those distances. So having a good level on
[14:27] Speaker 10: the gun, and it's sometimes like you're looking at that
[14:29] Speaker 10: level and you're like, that doesn't look right because the
[14:31] Speaker 10: trust there.
[14:32] Speaker 3: Is no horizon. That's the thing about the mountains, And
[14:34] Speaker 3: when I fly in the mountains, same deal. It's like
[14:37] Speaker 3: what you think is the horizon is not really the
[14:40] Speaker 3: level horizon, and it may not it's not even just
[14:42] Speaker 3: the left and the right. What you think is okay,
[14:45] Speaker 3: that's level out there, No, it's really not. And it
[14:49] Speaker 3: it's confusing. It really throws you off.
[14:51] Speaker 10: Yeah, and you just got to trust your instruments. You
[14:53] Speaker 10: got to be like, okay, this bubble levels.
[14:55] Speaker 3: Not just like flying instruments.
[14:57] Speaker 10: Right, yep, that's that's exactly the same thing. Yep.
[15:00] Speaker 3: It's like, say, well this compass is not right. No,
[15:02] Speaker 3: actually the compass is almost always right. Yeah. You know
[15:04] Speaker 3: when you think it's wrong, you're still wrong, right, same
[15:08] Speaker 3: deal yep, yep.
[15:09] Speaker 10: So yeah, you shoot, you miss. The first thing is
[15:11] Speaker 10: like chuck can't. Oh yeah, look at me.
[15:12] Speaker 3: I was.
[15:13] Speaker 10: I started to lean to one side. That was my problem.
[15:15] Speaker 3: You had fun out there, didn't you.
[15:16] Speaker 10: It was a lot of fun. It was cool. I
[15:18] Speaker 10: want to get back out there. But learned a.
[15:19] Speaker 3: Lot at its core. And we've talked about this before,
[15:23] Speaker 3: this whole taking shooting classes of all different disciplines. It's
[15:29] Speaker 3: just fun.
[15:29] Speaker 10: Oh yeah, oh yeah, I mean, and there's so much.
[15:33] Speaker 10: I mean, you can do it endlessly. There's so much
[15:35] Speaker 10: to learn and to stay current on it all. I mean,
[15:38] Speaker 10: there's it's it's beneficial and it's super fun to do
[15:41] Speaker 10: well exactly.
[15:42] Speaker 3: I mean you can. Yes, you're gonna learn to be
[15:44] Speaker 3: a better shooter, you're going to learn to operate your equipment,
[15:47] Speaker 3: You're going to hang around. It's motivating because you hang
[15:50] Speaker 3: around people who are even if you think you're good,
[15:53] Speaker 3: they're better. Oh yeah, yeah, and some of them are
[15:55] Speaker 3: like freakishly better. Yeah.
[15:57] Speaker 10: You learn from both the direct instruction and then just
[16:00] Speaker 10: them do anything and you're like, oh, that's a way
[16:02] Speaker 10: better way to load this magazine or anything, just like
[16:05] Speaker 10: the simplest thing, you know. But yeah, it was. It
[16:07] Speaker 10: was a lot of fun and I'm hopefully looking forward
[16:09] Speaker 10: to getting.
[16:09] Speaker 3: There's also some motivation to just not look like a dufist,
[16:14] Speaker 3: you know.
[16:15] Speaker 10: That's most of my motivation in life is just trying
[16:18] Speaker 10: to look like I know what I'm doing exactly.
[16:20] Speaker 3: Yeah, and a nice party, I mean, and I know, look,
[16:23] Speaker 3: if you've never taken any of these classes, whether it's
[16:26] Speaker 3: there or gut Site or our play, whatever, there's a
[16:30] Speaker 3: fear performance of saying, well, I won't embarrass myself. No,
[16:34] Speaker 3: you won't. The instructors, the good instructors will never embarrass you.
[16:39] Speaker 3: You know, they're just going to say Okay, that's where
[16:41] Speaker 3: you are. You're starting at a different place and then
[16:43] Speaker 3: they're going to take you and go from there.
[16:45] Speaker 10: One hundred percent. Yeah, you just got to show up.
[16:47] Speaker 10: I mean, that's the fear with everything that's new, and honestly,
[16:51] Speaker 10: that's like the the that should tell you that you
[16:53] Speaker 10: need to do it, you know what I mean, you
[16:54] Speaker 10: should confront that.
[16:56] Speaker 3: Uh, and that's the once you get through the first
[16:58] Speaker 3: room and you go, oh, okay, this is They're not
[17:00] Speaker 3: gonna beat me up. It's fine, and they're not gonna
[17:02] Speaker 3: hold me up in front of the class and say
[17:03] Speaker 3: here's the idiot.
[17:04] Speaker 10: Right, it's the rest. You know, everyone's the same, everyone
[17:06] Speaker 10: had that first class, and you'll realize, you know, you're
[17:08] Speaker 10: not that far off and yeah, and then you.
[17:11] Speaker 3: What do you got in your hand? There? So this
[17:13] Speaker 3: is our brand new tiny light XC.
[17:16] Speaker 10: Three sub for subcompact and micro compact handguns. It's based
[17:22] Speaker 10: off of our XC three, which is a very similar
[17:25] Speaker 10: sized body and head a slightly different mount for like
[17:28] Speaker 10: mid sized and full sized guns. Right, So the XC
[17:31] Speaker 10: three sub handgun weapon light. It comes with mounts for
[17:34] Speaker 10: a Springfield Hellcat for a P three sixty five. It
[17:39] Speaker 10: comes with a universal rail mount and a glock forty
[17:43] Speaker 10: three forty eight rail mount, so micro subcompact guns. It's
[17:47] Speaker 10: one thousand lumens thirteen thousand candela, So for how tiny
[17:51] Speaker 10: it is, it has.
[17:52] Speaker 3: A giant on the wall over here. It's unbelievable.
[17:56] Speaker 10: It's ridiculous front loading battery. It comes with a brand
[17:59] Speaker 10: new recharger one twenty three, so it's got a USBC
[18:03] Speaker 10: port directly on the battle.
[18:04] Speaker 3: So you can recharge it. But you could also just
[18:06] Speaker 3: use a regular one twenty three.
[18:07] Speaker 10: That's right, yep, it'll take both. Okay, you're gonna lose
[18:10] Speaker 10: a little bit of output and run time with you
[18:12] Speaker 10: when you put the standard one twenty three. The rechargeable
[18:14] Speaker 10: gets you the full okay, the full output. But super exciting.
[18:17] Speaker 10: I mean, honestly, we were just talking about it before
[18:19] Speaker 10: the show. This output is basically the same as an
[18:23] Speaker 10: X three hundred Ultra, which is the gold standard handgun
[18:26] Speaker 10: weapon light. You know, law enforcement across the nation and
[18:28] Speaker 10: actually the worldwide has been using that weapon light forever,
[18:32] Speaker 10: and you know, this tiny little light is the same
[18:34] Speaker 10: exact kind of output both in lumen's and candela.
[18:38] Speaker 3: It weighs nothing, it's yeah, it's small. And the other
[18:41] Speaker 3: thing is and there are a lot of holsters out
[18:43] Speaker 3: there that are made for your gun with that light.
[18:46] Speaker 10: That's correct.
[18:47] Speaker 3: Take it.
[18:47] Speaker 10: Yeah, there's already a bunch of holsters on the market
[18:49] Speaker 10: that fit this exact weapon light.
[18:51] Speaker 3: So we were laughing a little while ago because we
[18:54] Speaker 3: were at this for so long, remembering some of the
[18:56] Speaker 3: very early tactical lights from Surefire, and we were so
[19:00] Speaker 3: happy that they had sixty lumens.
[19:03] Speaker 10: Right, it seemed like the sun at the time.
[19:05] Speaker 3: Yes, and now you'd say, my light's broken. There's something
[19:08] Speaker 3: wrong here. Yeah.
[19:08] Speaker 10: People are mad if you don't have like five hundred lumens.
[19:11] Speaker 3: Now, it is crazy, all right, So that you had
[19:14] Speaker 3: a larger light, Oh you got the can.
[19:16] Speaker 10: Yeah, this is a yeah, this is a suppressor. This
[19:18] Speaker 10: is what that event was about. So this is our
[19:21] Speaker 10: brand new Sokum for series. This particular one is the
[19:24] Speaker 10: five to five six Mini four, So it's a little
[19:27] Speaker 10: bit shorter, low back pressure suppressor meaning you know traditional
[19:33] Speaker 10: baffled suppressors, you know, had a little bit of increased
[19:36] Speaker 10: back pressure, speeding up the bolt, having a little bit
[19:38] Speaker 10: of gas come out the ejection port. The emphasis on
[19:42] Speaker 10: these is to try and push gas forward and not
[19:44] Speaker 10: out of the ejection port.
[19:45] Speaker 3: Why is that important?
[19:47] Speaker 10: Well, the gas, for one, is toxic. You don't want
[19:49] Speaker 10: to breathe it in. So if people are shooting a lot,
[19:52] Speaker 10: you don't want to breathe much of that.
[19:54] Speaker 3: For somebody's out here shooting, you know a few times,
[19:56] Speaker 3: it's not a big deal. Nope, But particularly for military
[19:59] Speaker 3: training a lot, raining a lot, you know, you're putting
[20:01] Speaker 3: hundreds of thousands of around through it, it's a big deal.
[20:03] Speaker 10: Yeah, accumulates also, that speeds up the gun, It gets
[20:07] Speaker 10: the gun dirtier. All of those things wear and tear
[20:10] Speaker 10: on parts, you know, as you speed up the gun. There,
[20:12] Speaker 10: that's that's not ideal. So a low back pressure suppressor
[20:16] Speaker 10: prevents all of that. These are one hundred percent Inkanel made.
[20:19] Speaker 10: Inkanol is a high temperature alloy. They use it Formula
[20:23] Speaker 10: one exhaust, They use it on rocket ship nozzle, they.
[20:25] Speaker 3: Use it on airplane exhausts. Now there you go familiar
[20:27] Speaker 3: with them from that.
[20:28] Speaker 10: Yeah, So incanel maintains structural integrity at super high temperatures.
[20:31] Speaker 10: So this thing can be glowing and still and still
[20:34] Speaker 10: strong and lightweight. Inkonol's not that light. It's not like titanium.
[20:39] Speaker 10: The main thing with these is its durability. So this
[20:41] Speaker 10: is you know, a military oriented but anybody that wants
[20:44] Speaker 10: a super strong, hard use suppressor like this is this
[20:49] Speaker 10: is the end all be all.
[20:51] Speaker 3: Well, before we got on the air, you were just sharing.
[20:53] Speaker 3: You said, look, you just become pretty fanatic about protecting
[20:58] Speaker 3: your hearing when you're shooting these days. Yes, what's that about.
[21:02] Speaker 10: Well, hearing loss is cumulative people, you know, I don't
[21:05] Speaker 10: think they realize because you know, you hear something loud,
[21:08] Speaker 10: you accidentally shoot without ear pro on your ears ring
[21:11] Speaker 10: and then it goes away. Well, yes, you have temporary
[21:14] Speaker 10: hearing loss and then that's when it comes back, is
[21:16] Speaker 10: when the ringing stops. But you also you incurred permanent
[21:19] Speaker 10: hearing loss. You lost a little something there every time.
[21:22] Speaker 10: So every time you get some hearing loss, it accumulates
[21:25] Speaker 10: piece by piece by piece. So for me, you know,
[21:27] Speaker 10: I shoot quite a bit and therefore I'm always doubling
[21:31] Speaker 10: up my hearing protection. I'm wearing usually a set of
[21:35] Speaker 10: shurfire hearing protection in the ears.
[21:38] Speaker 3: You got plugs and muffs and muffs over it.
[21:40] Speaker 10: Yeah, just so I can have two sets of hearing protection.
[21:42] Speaker 10: I do count a suppressor as one. So if I'm
[21:44] Speaker 10: just shooting rifle and it's had the suppressor on it,
[21:47] Speaker 10: I'll count that as one. I'll get away with just
[21:49] Speaker 10: one set of here.
[21:50] Speaker 3: Okay, interesting idea. I hadn't thought about that, all right,
[21:53] Speaker 3: So you have two different levels working for you there.
[21:55] Speaker 10: Absolutely, Yeah, suppressors are game changer for hearing protection. I
[21:58] Speaker 10: mean hunting, you know, for me, I've the last several
[22:01] Speaker 10: hunts I've been on, I will not hunt without a suppressor.
[22:04] Speaker 3: Wow. Yeah, just it's just you just don't do.
[22:06] Speaker 10: It from a hearing standpoint. But also there's a there's
[22:09] Speaker 10: kind of a tactical advantage. You know, the herd doesn't move.
[22:11] Speaker 10: The last few animals we've taken. If you if you
[22:14] Speaker 10: missed or needed to follow up, the herd does not move.
[22:17] Speaker 10: Still there, unsuppressed, they are running. You know.
[22:19] Speaker 3: I'll be asama gun all right, Andrew, don't go anywhere.
[22:22] Speaker 3: I'm going to hold you over to talk a little
[22:23] Speaker 3: bit more. When we'll come back. You got more cool
[22:25] Speaker 3: stuff for us to talk about from Surefire. I'm Tom Gresham.
[22:28] Speaker 3: Were at the Rigor booth at the NRA's annual meetings.
[22:31] Speaker 3: We'll be right back. Yeah, you never know where you're
[22:41] Speaker 3: gonna have these kindred spirits. We're talking without Andrew right
[22:43] Speaker 3: from Surefire, and we're not talking about suppressors and lights
[22:46] Speaker 3: and the break. We're talking about hunting rifles. And Andrew,
[22:49] Speaker 3: you like the light rifles like I do because you
[22:51] Speaker 3: hunt in steep country. Yeah, you actually hunt higher than
[22:54] Speaker 3: I do in Colorado elevation wise.
[22:56] Speaker 10: Yeah, it's a it's we're starting at Usually the town
[22:59] Speaker 10: near where we hunt is eight thousand, so everything is
[23:02] Speaker 10: above eight.
[23:04] Speaker 3: That's brutal.
[23:05] Speaker 10: It takes a couple of days to get to get
[23:06] Speaker 10: hacklimated to that. You're huffing and puffing.
[23:08] Speaker 3: Even though you live in altitude that's higher altitude and
[23:11] Speaker 3: you've got to adjust to that.
[23:12] Speaker 10: Yeah, it's it takes a couple of days, but it does.
[23:15] Speaker 3: And we were talking about lightweight rifles are harder to shoot.
[23:18] Speaker 10: Well, yeah, every pound matters obviously in that country. So
[23:22] Speaker 10: I'm my gun, My hunting guns pretty dang light. You know,
[23:24] Speaker 10: carbon fiber barrel I use. Our titanium are so comm
[23:28] Speaker 10: seven to six to two tie to it's a titanium suppressor,
[23:31] Speaker 10: super lightweight. But yeah, the lighter, the gun. Every little
[23:36] Speaker 10: input that you put on it, you're going to see
[23:37] Speaker 10: it in the in the optic, it's it's harder to shoot,
[23:39] Speaker 10: they move around more.
[23:40] Speaker 3: We're coming into a new era in all of this
[23:44] Speaker 3: with rifles, with the tax going away on suppressors and
[23:49] Speaker 3: on sbr so you can have shorter barrels. And then
[23:52] Speaker 3: you add in the high pressure loads that we're getting
[23:56] Speaker 3: now specialized eighty thousand PSI where you can recap sure
[24:00] Speaker 3: the velocity you lose a small barrel. I think our
[24:03] Speaker 3: rifles are something going to look different in the future.
[24:05] Speaker 10: I think so. I think very soon we'll start seeing
[24:08] Speaker 10: some significantly shorter hunting rifles. It'll be very interesting. And
[24:12] Speaker 10: like you said, you know people that have been holding
[24:14] Speaker 10: off on the suppressor because they didn't want the added length,
[24:17] Speaker 10: I think they're You're gonna be hard pressed to find
[24:19] Speaker 10: people not hunting suppressed.
[24:21] Speaker 3: Yeah, and see that's where I didn't want the long
[24:23] Speaker 3: barrel and thick another six inches a can out there.
[24:27] Speaker 3: But man if I can cut four inches off the
[24:29] Speaker 3: barrel and now you've got four inch long suppressors, four
[24:33] Speaker 3: five six whatever and lightweight going okay, I think maybe
[24:37] Speaker 3: my objections are not valved.
[24:39] Speaker 10: Anymore exactly, Yeah, and then tax dam's gone away. You
[24:42] Speaker 10: have more and more, you know, excuses removed of why
[24:45] Speaker 10: not to It's one of the reasons. So for me,
[24:47] Speaker 10: I use a folding stock, oh, bolt action rifle. Sure,
[24:52] Speaker 10: specifically again just because of that overall length, because I
[24:54] Speaker 10: don't want a really long rifles sticking above my pack.
[24:57] Speaker 10: We're going through you know, a lot of brush, hang
[25:00] Speaker 10: it up on stuff, exactly. Sure, So the way my
[25:03] Speaker 10: gun sits on the pack when it's folded stock, you know,
[25:05] Speaker 10: the suppressors just right up. My head leveled pretty much.
[25:08] Speaker 10: So it's not not a bad deal. But I know,
[25:11] Speaker 10: I understand fully that the advantage and people in the
[25:13] Speaker 10: preference for a normal stock you know, traditional hunting rifle.
[25:16] Speaker 10: They definitely feel great, but I mean.
[25:18] Speaker 3: I like them. I like the way they feel. But
[25:20] Speaker 3: at the same time, once something gets to the point
[25:22] Speaker 3: where it offers a significant advantage, and you go, okay,
[25:25] Speaker 3: it's time to give up on the old and let's
[25:27] Speaker 3: go take a look at this new stuff. Yeah.
[25:29] Speaker 10: Yeah, it'll be interesting to see you know, some goofy
[25:31] Speaker 10: short hunting rifles with high pressure ammunition in the future.
[25:33] Speaker 3: They're gonna look strange to us for a while, and
[25:36] Speaker 3: then it'll be normal. Then we're going to look back
[25:37] Speaker 3: and look at what we've been using and think it
[25:40] Speaker 3: looks like an old Kentucky rifle or something like an
[25:42] Speaker 3: old you know, this long barrel thing.
[25:43] Speaker 10: You'll see a hunting picture and you look like you
[25:45] Speaker 10: had a blunderbust from here.
[25:47] Speaker 3: Right, No, it's exactly exactly. That's fine, all right, you
[25:50] Speaker 3: brought one more toy over there we ought to talk about.
[25:52] Speaker 10: So this is our new Turbo Scout Light Pro long
[25:57] Speaker 10: gun weapon light. Obviously, you know, if you have a
[26:00] Speaker 10: rifle for or a shotgun for defensive purposes, we are
[26:04] Speaker 10: a strong advocate of having a light on it. You
[26:05] Speaker 10: should be able to identify positively whatever you're potentially going
[26:09] Speaker 10: to shoot or even point a rifle at if it's
[26:11] Speaker 10: a home defense scenario. So this new Turbo Scout Light
[26:13] Speaker 10: Pro it's focused on candela, So six hundred and fifty
[26:17] Speaker 10: lumens seventy thousand candela out of two one twenty threes.
[26:21] Speaker 10: All that means for you is it's a very tight,
[26:24] Speaker 10: far reaching beam pattern, and you know there's more and more,
[26:27] Speaker 10: it seems market preference for that type of beam.
[26:30] Speaker 3: For way for reaching way out there long.
[26:32] Speaker 10: For reaching way out there long. You know, also for
[26:35] Speaker 10: in the middle. It's like sectors in depth. Basically, it means,
[26:38] Speaker 10: if we're sitting in a room, there's a hallway and
[26:40] Speaker 10: another room that you're trying to illuminate into. The narrower
[26:43] Speaker 10: beam is going to do a better job at penetrating
[26:45] Speaker 10: those sectors in depth instead of bouncing off the walls
[26:48] Speaker 10: and the door frames that are intermediate.
[26:51] Speaker 3: I just realize as you're talking, I'm reaching. I said, huh,
[26:55] Speaker 3: wonder where I'm carrying today? I have, I mean a lot.
[27:00] Speaker 10: You're just a kiss up. You're a overachiever.
[27:02] Speaker 3: Yeah, this is every day and this is not just
[27:05] Speaker 3: because you're here.
[27:05] Speaker 10: I appreciate it. Look at you.
[27:06] Speaker 3: You got the same light.
[27:07] Speaker 10: That's impressive. Yeah, this is the Stiletto Pro two for
[27:09] Speaker 10: the listeners. This thing is awesome. Man, I love the house.
[27:13] Speaker 3: It's a two beam. It looks like a fifty seven
[27:17] Speaker 3: Chevy headlights coming at you with this thing. You got
[27:19] Speaker 3: these too, amazing? Good Lord, that thing's bright.
[27:21] Speaker 10: That's hilarious. I've never heard it described that way, but
[27:24] Speaker 10: you are one hundred percent out. Yeah, this thing's fifteen
[27:27] Speaker 10: hundred lumins thirty five thousand candela. But the main thing
[27:30] Speaker 10: is it's flat, so it's comfortable in your pocket. You
[27:32] Speaker 10: don't notice it. It's not annoying in your pocket. And
[27:34] Speaker 10: it's a USBC rechargeable light. So if you're using it
[27:37] Speaker 10: every day, which you end up doing when you carry it,
[27:40] Speaker 10: you just plug it in at night and it's good
[27:42] Speaker 10: to go.
[27:42] Speaker 3: And you guys have gotten some kind of super duper
[27:45] Speaker 3: battery technology because you know a lot of stuff you
[27:48] Speaker 3: have rechargeable batteries and after why, you've used them a
[27:51] Speaker 3: bunch and they just keep going down and down. They
[27:53] Speaker 3: don't do much. I don't know what the deal is,
[27:55] Speaker 3: but these things just seem to last forever.
[27:57] Speaker 10: Yeah, there's not much. There's like no parasitic draw The
[28:00] Speaker 10: engineers know what they're doing obviously, so you could throw
[28:02] Speaker 10: it in the drawer and it's good to go for
[28:03] Speaker 10: a long time.
[28:04] Speaker 3: And I know people say, well, you know what do
[28:06] Speaker 3: they cost? And my answer is, it's a piece of
[28:09] Speaker 3: my safety gear and it will last a long long time.
[28:15] Speaker 3: And oh yeah, it's a piece of my safety gear.
[28:18] Speaker 3: You know, I'm not buying the cheap gun. I'm not
[28:21] Speaker 3: buying the cheap well parachute yep, which is what they
[28:25] Speaker 3: really are. This is my gear that saves my life.
[28:27] Speaker 10: It's you know, it's the old adage of buy ones
[28:30] Speaker 10: cry once. We have so many people come by that
[28:32] Speaker 10: have had a light for ten, twenty, thirty, forty years
[28:35] Speaker 10: now and they're still using it. And you know, we
[28:38] Speaker 10: don't cut corners for cost. We build everything in house.
[28:42] Speaker 10: We manufacture still in the USA, all of our turning center.
[28:46] Speaker 10: This is machininge and this is not Asian stuff, No,
[28:48] Speaker 10: this is assembly. We even do our own circuit boards
[28:51] Speaker 10: in house. We do everything ourselves and obviously that's not cheap,
[28:55] Speaker 10: but we build to a quality standpoint, and that's the
[28:57] Speaker 10: most important goal for us.
[28:58] Speaker 3: Have to have had appliers from China and other places
[29:02] Speaker 3: come to you and say, you know, we can make
[29:04] Speaker 3: that for you cheaper.
[29:05] Speaker 10: Oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah, we know. We don't fold
[29:08] Speaker 10: the we're still privately held. The owner is you know,
[29:12] Speaker 10: staunchly a believer in American manufacturing and we're going to
[29:15] Speaker 10: continue to do that.
[29:17] Speaker 3: And the guarantee on all this stuff.
[29:19] Speaker 10: It's a lifetime guarantee. Rechargeable products, there's a there's a
[29:23] Speaker 10: battery limitation to a certain amount of cycles mix, so
[29:25] Speaker 10: it's a slightly reduced warranty. The standard one twenty three
[29:30] Speaker 10: flashlights like our X three hundreds of a scout light in
[29:32] Speaker 10: my hand. It's a lifetime warranty.
[29:34] Speaker 3: So if it breaks, you just take care of it.
[29:36] Speaker 10: We'll just take care of it. Zip was that, Yeah,
[29:38] Speaker 10: they'll they'll repair it. If they can't repair it, they'll
[29:41] Speaker 10: replace it. It's over.
[29:42] Speaker 3: We're goun what's the origin story on Surefire?
[29:45] Speaker 10: So the founder doctor John Matthews. He was a laser physicist,
[29:51] Speaker 10: playing around with lasers. He's a big firearms enthusiast. He
[29:54] Speaker 10: had some some friends in law enforcement. They ended up
[29:57] Speaker 10: throwing you know, hey, can we put a laser on
[29:59] Speaker 10: this revolver? And that's what they did and ended up
[30:03] Speaker 10: selling some to a couple departments. I'll send you a
[30:06] Speaker 10: picture of one. It's a crazy, big monstrosity. If you
[30:10] Speaker 10: ever saw a terminator, it's very similar. That is our laser.
[30:12] Speaker 10: That's one of our products. On top of that AMT
[30:14] Speaker 10: nineteen eleven. That was the early laser. So the company
[30:19] Speaker 10: was originally called Laser Products. We started making more lasers
[30:22] Speaker 10: for different guns. We made them for shotguns. Some of
[30:24] Speaker 10: the when the Olympics in nineteen eighty four was came
[30:26] Speaker 10: to Los Angeles, we sold some to LAPD for their shotguns.
[30:31] Speaker 10: Fast forward, we did the first compact flashlight and it
[30:36] Speaker 10: was called the Shurfire and it was two early CR
[30:39] Speaker 10: one twenty threes and that sixty lumen P sixty bulb
[30:43] Speaker 10: and that blew up and we started making them basically
[30:46] Speaker 10: that same lamp assembly for pistols for handgun weapon lights,
[30:49] Speaker 10: we started doing MP five four ends, et cetera. And
[30:52] Speaker 10: two thousand and one the company rebranded because the flashlights
[30:55] Speaker 10: were the big part to Shurfire as a whole. And
[30:59] Speaker 10: it's been ongoing since. We've been doing suppressors now for
[31:01] Speaker 10: twenty two years or something like that. That long now, Yep,
[31:05] Speaker 10: Barry Duke started our suppressor division. We won the Socom
[31:09] Speaker 10: contract for five five six suppressors in twenty eleven and
[31:12] Speaker 10: we're still doing quite well on the suppressor side as well.
[31:15] Speaker 10: So that's the high level rundown.
[31:18] Speaker 3: Of And probably one of the big demarcation points was
[31:21] Speaker 3: when switching for me in condescent to LEDs.
[31:24] Speaker 10: Yeah, that was a that was a big deal, so
[31:26] Speaker 10: much more efficient in the beginning they weren't. You know,
[31:30] Speaker 10: it was a like computers.
[31:32] Speaker 3: It was.
[31:32] Speaker 10: It was rapidly iterating and getting better every I mean
[31:35] Speaker 10: within months they were getting in so much more rugged. Yes, yeah,
[31:38] Speaker 10: so LEDs enabled us to have way more output, way
[31:41] Speaker 10: better run time, just overall, and much more efficient and
[31:45] Speaker 10: like you said, reliable their solid state, so you can
[31:48] Speaker 10: drop them, throw them and they're going to keep working.
[31:50] Speaker 3: Yep, exactly right, all right, website for.
[31:52] Speaker 10: People, it's just Surefire dot com s U R E
[31:55] Speaker 10: F I R E.
[31:56] Speaker 3: Surefire dot com. Thank you, my friend, I thank you
[31:59] Speaker 3: to be here. Man. I appreciate it.
[32:00] Speaker 10: Thank you very much.
[32:01] Speaker 3: Tom good deal. I'm gonna turn your mic off. I'll
[32:03] Speaker 3: let you go out the door. I'm gonna keep talking here.
[32:05] Speaker 10: I appreciate it. Thank you for having me.
[32:06] Speaker 3: You bet Andrew right from sure If fun stuff. I mean,
[32:10] Speaker 3: we get to play with the cool stuff here. And
[32:12] Speaker 3: I'm not kidding, not just because Andrew was here. I
[32:15] Speaker 3: literally carry these two Surefire flashlights with me all the time.
[32:18] Speaker 3: It's like one is none, two is one, all of
[32:21] Speaker 3: that stuff. And yeah, okay, I'm geeky. Even in the
[32:24] Speaker 3: other pocket. I got a turn the kit and I
[32:26] Speaker 3: got gauze, and I got blah blah blah, all same
[32:29] Speaker 3: ore thing. I might even have safety gear on my belt.
[32:32] Speaker 3: Who knows could be the stuff happens like that. Yeah,
[32:36] Speaker 3: one of the things I did before I came to
[32:38] Speaker 3: the hall here. This is interesting. I checked with my
[32:42] Speaker 3: contact at the enner. I said, can you carry here?
[32:44] Speaker 3: He said, of course you can. It's okay, he said,
[32:46] Speaker 3: Just don't don't be pulling it out. Said of course not.
[32:49] Speaker 3: We don't do that. We you know, we try not to.
[32:51] Speaker 3: You don't pull your gun out and I show it
[32:53] Speaker 3: to other people. But yes, everything is great. Uh, you
[32:58] Speaker 3: can carry here. I think I've seen some people caring openly,
[33:02] Speaker 3: but I know a lot of people are coming concealed.
[33:05] Speaker 3: I actually had this thought when I was doing the
[33:07] Speaker 3: interview with the acting US Attorney General, Todd blanch and
[33:14] Speaker 3: his security people were around and they said they were FBI.
[33:17] Speaker 3: But I'm never sure if they're actually telling me the
[33:20] Speaker 3: truth or if they were Secret Service. But I think
[33:21] Speaker 3: they probably were FBI, and they were at least well
[33:25] Speaker 3: we could identify six. There may have been more that
[33:28] Speaker 3: we couldn't identify, and I had this thought they could well,
[33:31] Speaker 3: I'm standing here next to him, and I'm doing this interview.
[33:36] Speaker 3: I wonder if they all know that I'm carrying at
[33:39] Speaker 3: the moment, And then I thought, of course they do.
[33:42] Speaker 3: That's what they do, that's their business. You know, they
[33:43] Speaker 3: probably know everything about me before they agreed to do
[33:47] Speaker 3: the interview and probably had a pretty good idea of
[33:50] Speaker 3: not only that it was carried, but one I was
[33:51] Speaker 3: carry But then I thought, well, you know, but they
[33:54] Speaker 3: also probably know that somewhere between ten and twenty percent
[33:58] Speaker 3: of the people walking around this hall, hundreds of people,
[34:01] Speaker 3: thousands of people in the hall are carrying. That's an
[34:05] Speaker 3: interesting security situation and that, you know, but I can't
[34:09] Speaker 3: think of a place that I feel safer, which is
[34:14] Speaker 3: kind of interesting.
[34:14] Speaker 10: You know.
[34:15] Speaker 3: Whether they say on armed society is a polite society.
[34:18] Speaker 3: Robert Hyman, the author, wrote that in one of his novels,
[34:22] Speaker 3: and generally speaking, it tends to be true if now,
[34:27] Speaker 3: if only the bad guys are armed, it's not as polite.
[34:30] Speaker 3: But when the good guys have guns, it tends to
[34:36] Speaker 3: reset the attitude of some of the bad guys. We've
[34:39] Speaker 3: had interesting conversations, as you might imagine, about guns and
[34:43] Speaker 3: magazine capacity and thirty eight specials and all this that's telling.
[34:47] Speaker 3: Somebody said, you know, we know now from all the
[34:52] Speaker 3: videos we see of attacks. We got all these security
[34:55] Speaker 3: videos and everything else. Almost inevitably, when a good guy
[35:00] Speaker 3: shoots back, and it really doesn't matter how many attackers
[35:04] Speaker 3: they are, that number goes from whatever that is to
[35:08] Speaker 3: zero because they turn and run. Now, I'm not saying
[35:12] Speaker 3: that the idea of a gun is to scare people away.
[35:15] Speaker 3: It's not. But the thinking here is that you know,
[35:20] Speaker 3: once you fire the first shot, you're probably not dealing
[35:23] Speaker 3: with that. Several people, they're probably a boogie. They're gone
[35:27] Speaker 3: somewhere else. So one of the things I was talking
[35:30] Speaker 3: to and look, there are some cool stuff. The cool
[35:33] Speaker 3: things come in our way. There are things that we
[35:37] Speaker 3: get told by manufacturers here that we're under NDA is
[35:41] Speaker 3: about we can't talk about. But let me just tell
[35:43] Speaker 3: you there's some neat stuff coming. So one I can
[35:47] Speaker 3: tell you because I'm not going to tell who it is,
[35:48] Speaker 3: and probably it's more than one that's going to be
[35:51] Speaker 3: doing it. In nineteen elevens, I love nineteen elevens, but everybody,
[35:56] Speaker 3: I mean everybody talked to here says, yeah, they're dead
[35:59] Speaker 3: as far as single stack nineteen eleven's they just they
[36:02] Speaker 3: can't sell them. Double stacks. Yeah, they can sell them
[36:05] Speaker 3: like crazy. And I said, you know what we really
[36:08] Speaker 3: need is I have smallish hands. What we really need
[36:12] Speaker 3: is a double stack nineteen eleven with the grip size,
[36:17] Speaker 3: magazine size of something like the subcompacts, the micro nines,
[36:24] Speaker 3: the P three sixty five's that kind of thing. If
[36:27] Speaker 3: you could take that magazine and then build a nineteen
[36:31] Speaker 3: eleven double stack around that. And I said that to
[36:36] Speaker 3: several different manufacturers. It was the same reaction, and they're
[36:40] Speaker 3: all looking at I mean, like, uh, yeah, what do
[36:43] Speaker 3: you think we're working on? I don't know when, but
[36:48] Speaker 3: my guess would be sometime in the next twelve months
[36:51] Speaker 3: we're going to see exactly that. Because what we have
[36:54] Speaker 3: is an entire new generation of people who have discovered
[36:59] Speaker 3: the nineteen eleven through the double stack, if you will,
[37:04] Speaker 3: twenty eleven. They love having more ambo and it's the
[37:08] Speaker 3: cool thing, it's the staccato thing. And then everybody else
[37:11] Speaker 3: has them as well, and they discovered, Okay, the nineteen
[37:14] Speaker 3: eleven really shoots well, man, it's smooth and it's got
[37:17] Speaker 3: like the best trigger ever, and you go, yeah, exactly.
[37:20] Speaker 3: That's what we've been saying for all these years. That's
[37:22] Speaker 3: why we like the nineteen eleven. They say, yeah, but
[37:24] Speaker 3: you know nineteen eleven is old fashioned. No, it's just
[37:28] Speaker 3: the singlestack version of your twenty eleven. All that to say,
[37:33] Speaker 3: I think we're going to get the melding of all
[37:35] Speaker 3: this and get the gun that really works, which is
[37:39] Speaker 3: a smaller grip, smaller frame. Nineteen eleven, twenty eleven, whatever
[37:46] Speaker 3: you are calling, I don't know, but I think that's coming.
[37:50] Speaker 3: Beyond that, we're hearing some rumors about some most interesting technology.
[37:58] Speaker 3: It's one of those people kind of hint at it,
[38:00] Speaker 3: but they won't tell you exactly what they're working on.
[38:02] Speaker 3: But I know it's coming, and I think there'll be
[38:06] Speaker 3: some things introduced this year throughout the year. Some of
[38:12] Speaker 3: them may be the more innovative things are gonna have
[38:15] Speaker 3: to wait until shot show next year. I don't know,
[38:21] Speaker 3: but it's going to be fascinating to watch. We'll just
[38:23] Speaker 3: see what develops. There so a lot of interesting things going.
[38:27] Speaker 3: There's somebody here, got to go look at who it was,
[38:29] Speaker 3: can't remember. There's just so many things to talk about.
[38:33] Speaker 3: Somebody has a folding shotgun. I mean like you grab it,
[38:36] Speaker 3: you shake it and unfolds and all of a sudden
[38:38] Speaker 3: you got this operational shotgun. You know, well, that was
[38:40] Speaker 3: whacko crazy cool. A lot of folding pdw's a personal
[38:46] Speaker 3: defense weapon type guns or car beings with folding stocks.
[38:50] Speaker 3: A lot of truck guns, guns that would go into
[38:52] Speaker 3: a backpack so you can walk around and have a
[38:56] Speaker 3: long gun of some sort. Maybe it's a pistol caliber
[38:59] Speaker 3: carbing and not frighten the public. You've got it in
[39:02] Speaker 3: a little backpack or some kind of a spling bag
[39:04] Speaker 3: something like that. A lot of interest in that. I
[39:08] Speaker 3: love the idea of the pistol caliber carding in ten
[39:11] Speaker 3: milimeter for whatever reason, shoots flat out to one hundred
[39:14] Speaker 3: yards and hits hard with that longer barrel. So we'll
[39:18] Speaker 3: see more of that as well. I'll pick this up
[39:21] Speaker 3: on the backside'd be right back with more gun talling.
[39:28] Speaker 3: Sometimes you just look out the window or the door
[39:30] Speaker 3: there and you go, hey, that's a friend of mine
[39:32] Speaker 3: walking by. Let's just shang high him and make him
[39:34] Speaker 3: would sing for his separate dug cane. It joins us
[39:36] Speaker 3: right now. Seriously, one of the best shooters on the planet,
[39:39] Speaker 3: maybe the best shooter. Frankly, Doug, you won't say it,
[39:42] Speaker 3: but I could say it. You've been a professional shooter
[39:44] Speaker 3: for at least three weeks now.
[39:46] Speaker 10: Just a little over that over. So I think this
[39:48] Speaker 10: was this is my fortieth year.
[39:50] Speaker 3: I go say you and I Markham Park Sportsman Team
[39:54] Speaker 3: Challenge for the TV show way.
[39:56] Speaker 10: Back right early nineties, early.
[39:58] Speaker 3: Nineties, Holy cow, time fly amazing stuff. And you know,
[40:03] Speaker 3: and now you're still shooting professionally only because you keep winning.
[40:08] Speaker 10: I've still been able to manage some success.
[40:10] Speaker 3: Yeah, you're eking out a little bit, a little bit,
[40:13] Speaker 3: a little bit.
[40:13] Speaker 11: I am slowing down, but still able to be somewhat competitive.
[40:17] Speaker 10: And you know, for me, I just I wouldn't know
[40:19] Speaker 10: what else to do. I just love it.
[40:21] Speaker 11: I love the people, I love the competition. I love
[40:24] Speaker 11: you know, the equipment and getting that stuff all set up.
[40:27] Speaker 11: And you know, now I've transitioned into running tournaments.
[40:31] Speaker 3: You know, you got your own matches now, so talk
[40:33] Speaker 3: about that.
[40:34] Speaker 11: So last weekend I was just in Colorado for the
[40:36] Speaker 11: Canane Gruger PRC, which is a two day National PRS
[40:41] Speaker 11: match all animal target, seventeen stages. We had a we
[40:45] Speaker 11: had a great turnout. That was year six for me
[40:47] Speaker 11: doing that great match. And then three weeks ago it
[40:53] Speaker 11: was my fourth year running the US Steel Nationals, so
[40:56] Speaker 11: a Steel Challenge match in Florida, Feel Rifle and Pistol Clubs.
[41:01] Speaker 11: So you know, we had three hundred and fifty guns
[41:04] Speaker 11: and that was almost double what we had last year.
[41:07] Speaker 11: So we're expecting another big jump next year. And you know,
[41:10] Speaker 11: for me, it's it's a give back, you know. I mean,
[41:14] Speaker 11: I've loved the competitive side of things and I can't
[41:19] Speaker 11: imagine them not being around. And if I can put
[41:23] Speaker 11: on some matches and what I tell everybody, I run
[41:25] Speaker 11: a match and run matches the way I feel they
[41:28] Speaker 11: should be treating the shooters the way I've always felt like.
[41:32] Speaker 11: And I'm not saying other people don't, but no, they
[41:35] Speaker 11: want to be professional things.
[41:37] Speaker 3: I want, you know, what shooters want and what they need.
[41:39] Speaker 11: Right And to me, you know, we're in the entertainment business.
[41:42] Speaker 11: It's they're going to spend money, they're going to come.
[41:46] Speaker 11: I want to give them back so that they feel
[41:48] Speaker 11: they get great value, great competition, a great environment, and
[41:53] Speaker 11: a great environment to bring kids into, especially Steel Challenge stuff.
[41:57] Speaker 10: And to me, that's that's the future. That's what it's
[41:59] Speaker 10: all about. I'm not getting any younger, and I want
[42:02] Speaker 10: this stuff to go on for another couple hundred years.
[42:05] Speaker 3: I keep telling people, look, our secret weapon in the
[42:07] Speaker 3: whole sec amendment world, and then we forget to tell
[42:10] Speaker 3: people this is that shooting is fun, right.
[42:13] Speaker 10: The ultimate fun.
[42:15] Speaker 3: Yeah, the ultimate you know, and you know, particularly for
[42:17] Speaker 3: guys who really like to use the remote control, that's
[42:20] Speaker 3: what shooting is, right, pushy button hearing. Something happens way out.
[42:23] Speaker 11: There exactly exactly, and it's whether whether you want to
[42:26] Speaker 11: compete or not compete. But I have never, and I'll
[42:29] Speaker 11: say this, you know a million times, never had somebody
[42:32] Speaker 11: at the range that didn't walk away with a smile
[42:34] Speaker 11: on their face.
[42:35] Speaker 3: No matter what. Typically they turn around and look at
[42:37] Speaker 3: you say can I shoot it again? You go, yes, right,
[42:40] Speaker 3: we'll keep feeding it.
[42:41] Speaker 10: You shoot it exactly. I mean, it's well, it's all
[42:44] Speaker 10: about and.
[42:45] Speaker 3: You've reached the point where a lot of us do,
[42:47] Speaker 3: where it's still a lot of fun to shoot, but
[42:50] Speaker 3: it gets to be more fun to bring somebody in
[42:52] Speaker 3: and get them going.
[42:53] Speaker 11: One hundred percent, just like on the hunting side, Just
[42:56] Speaker 11: like on the hunting side. I mean, I'd rather see
[42:59] Speaker 11: my boys something.
[43:01] Speaker 10: I want to be there. I want to be hanging out, right.
[43:03] Speaker 10: I don't need to shoot. I don't need to shooting anymore.
[43:05] Speaker 3: Right, it's fun to put them on something watch that
[43:08] Speaker 3: help them pack it out, whatever it takes. There you go.
[43:11] Speaker 11: Yeah, I'm the camp you know, gutter. You know, that's
[43:13] Speaker 11: what I do for my voice.
[43:16] Speaker 3: All right. So when people want to follow you what
[43:18] Speaker 3: you're doing and they're away online for them to catch.
[43:20] Speaker 10: Uh, I mean caning shooting sports.
[43:23] Speaker 11: My website for them k O E N I G
[43:27] Speaker 11: Shooting Sports and they can they can follow what I'm
[43:30] Speaker 11: doing there, the matches, I'm running, any products, and you
[43:34] Speaker 11: can get a hold of me, email me, classes whatever.
[43:37] Speaker 3: There you go, that's where you can find. Okay, thank
[43:38] Speaker 3: you man, We're able to sh you here.
[43:40] Speaker 10: Absolutely, thank you all.
[43:42] Speaker 3: Right, big thanks to Ruber for letting us hang out
